#and i think second + third having teamed up first like how Izuku + Uraraka met first is a good parallel with how Tenya is initially

Upon seeing the post about second as iida my first thought was and third can be uraraka then I noticed you had the same idea in the tags
Great minds think alike I just think that's what she deserves,,,trio holders to the original trio babeyyy
#*while making a chart* third's lack of familial care meant he had to find his own in group and eventually meant supporting his leader#where later uraraka was raised with love that she would go as far for her parents as third originally would have gone for second#and still is inclined by nature to a supportive role- she has no great aspirations on leadership or power itself but in how she can help#other heroes (where previously how to help a ragtag freedom fighter group)#*continuing to make a chart* now Second's influence on Izuku could link to that early acceptance of 'yeah world isn't fair'#and i see a link in how Second really took apart his minor speed quirk to do more with it and Izuku's general quirk analysis and hacking#but where Second was mistreated as a threat Izuku was seen as a lack of one and someone to pittied even by those who looked him#which influence the way they react to said injustice though both are moving without thinking to do Something about it#(second having support of a group and Izuku very much not is the deciding factor between Izuku not going with the spider plan methinks)#and i think second + third having teamed up first like how Izuku + Uraraka met first is a good parallel with how Tenya is initially#antagonistic to Izuku but ends up joining both quickly when actual opportunity arises and he sees good things from them#and as Yoichi's somewhat black and white morality did develope somewhat specifically to oppose a terrible brother‚(i gotta finish that fic#where i go more into how they pushed each other more extreme to try to shut down loopholes) Tenya's developed in a way both supported by and#to support a great older brother which is why murder is a hundred percent ok if it's for tensei's sake#and this can be expressed by their different aproaches to making their hair look very different from or very similar to their brothers#speaking of hair that chapter where Uraraka did#a ponytail that spiked upwards? and third's hair? i see it#just as i see a connection when it comes to how she grapples and redirects enemy momentum to the fa jin power and connected combat style#also second scar = Izuku's ofa activation and tbh both could not care less about what their hair is doing dhfhfjgg#plus something about Izuku's 'gotta give ofa away' mode we joke about activating and Second's specific disapproval of him#man that self esteem deficiency sure can spread across more than one lifetime!#and of course. hands.#hands in the vault. tenya returning the favor to grab Izuku's#though the next step is to wonder about fourth but i do have an idea. wonder if we're on the same track about it again#pocket talks to people#anon

So before the next chapter translation/recap drops, I wanted to ask what you think of Bakugo very likely being AFO's final opponent? I didn't really see that coming. The rival is always there, but they usually team up with the MC for the final fight or aren't part of it (Vegeta during all the DBZ saga final villains, Sasuke at the end of Shipuuden). AFO isn't even Bakugo's personal villain, like Dabi is Todoroki's and Himiko is Uraraka's. I'm trying to wrap my head around it so it's more satisfying, but while it's REALLY AWESOME, I'm not feeling the *personal* stakes and ngl I spent half the time wondering if Deku would swoop in. I'm guessing he won't, final battle Shigaraki vs Deku, but yeah.
I think it's an interesting subversion of the usual final boss tropes. it's true that AFO and Bakugou don't have much in the way of personal history. they lack the tragic family ties of Dabi and Shouto, or the frequent homoerotic encounters of Toga and Ochako. Horikoshi clearly went a different route here.
that being said, there are a few things I do like about the setup. first, I really like that Bakugou chose Kid For One to be his final villain (and then inverted things on top of that -- you're not my final boss, I'm your final boss, lol). it's very much in line with his usual stubbornness and singlemindedness. everyone else -- Izuku, Shouto, and Ochako -- were sort of unwillingly dragged into their conflicts by fate. but Bakugou wanted a final boss so much that when life didn't conveniently hand him one, he went out and DEMANDED one. literally DIYed his own. that's the most Bakugou thing ever tbh.
second, I like the recurring theme of AFO creating his own demons. he's so powerful that the only thing that can bring him down is his own hubris. he accidentally created OFA by trying to dominate his baby brother. he tormented the OFA users for centuries only to be mutilated by a royally pissed-off All Might. and he has been snidely dismissive of Bakugou on multiple occasions throughout the manga, which is certainly looking like one hell of a mistake right now. not just because he missed the opportunity to kill him off on earlier occasions, but also because we all know that the more you ignore Kacchan, the more determined he is to prove you wrong.
third, I like that AFO is the one who apparently has personal trauma and not the other way around. even if the extent of his trauma is just, "you look like the guy I really hate!!", lol. it's unexpected and mildly amusing and I enjoy it.
and lastly, while I'm probably not super qualified to weigh in on this (seeing as there's a big chunk of the Deku vs. Tomura/AFO fight which I still haven't read yet, so I don't know how much ground has been covered already), I'm not so sure that this is the actual final battle. as you mentioned, those usually involve the rival teaming up with the MC against a single final villain. and neither Tomura nor Kid For One is giving me genuine final boss vibes tbh. I think AFO, and not Tomura, will be the final "final boss", but I'm guessing it will be a different version of AFO. either the AFO currently taking up residence in Tomura's head, or, potentially, the one possibly hanging out in Deku's.
either way though, that also means the final phase of this battle will likely take place not in the real world, but inside the OFA/AFO Mojo Dojo Casa Realm. and I think it will be Deku, Katsuki (since I'm convinced he also has OFA), and Tomura (plot twist) united against AFO. which I think would make for a much stronger final battle than the current setup. we were promised an ending which would surpass Heroes Rising in epicness, after all. a simple Deku vs. Tomura would hardly cut it, especially with Deku having already pushed himself to his limits and revealed all of his current OFA tricks that we know about. gotta be more to it.
so yeah, those are my thoughts. I'm enjoying the current antics, but I do think they are miniboss antics and not final boss ones. any finale that doesn't involve multiple OFA users teaming up against a single AFO wielder is going to feel a bit like it missed the point. it's literally in the name, lol. we need the "all" versus the "one", or else all that foreshadowing goes to waste. that's my hope at any rate.

I know I come on here a lot to trash on Bakugou.
So let’s switch it up!
Opinions on Tokoyami, and do you think Horikoshi could have explored him more? And Horikoshi has mentioned in the past that he was unsure about having him fit into MHA’s world? Do you think he actually succeeded in that regard?
He quickly became my all time favorite character in the series, with Uraraka coming up second, Midoriya at fifth, and Iida and Yayorozu in a perpetual state of fighting between third and fourth.
His appearance alone helps him stand out. Dark Shadow is an awesome quirk. He’s had his share of wins and losses and has proven he’s got potential to be a great hero. And despite looking the part of lone wolf, he instead is very much a team player and is simply an introvert. It also doesn’t hurt that canonically, he’s always been unimpressed and one of the few that’s been critical of Bakugo’s shit attitude. (Sorry, that’s all the Baku-Bashing I will do.)
One of my issues in regards to Tokoyami is ( and I am dead sure I’m in the minority here) his relationship with Hawks. I feel like his bond with him is very forced and rushed. Yes, he helped Tokoyami come up with Black Fallen Angel, but my issue is that a lot of the times we see Hawks, Tokoyami is absent. And with him playing double agent with the villains, I have a hard time seeing him actually mentoring Tokoyami. Which makes it feel like Tokoyami is more an accessory of Hawks instead the kind of mentor-student relationship we see with Midoriya and All Might. We tend to focus on and learn about Hawks’s life a lot more instead of Tokoyami’s. And I personally am not that interested in Hawks. (It’s not hate, but I just don’t find myself that invested in him.)
Sorry, just wanted to give my on share on the character. But again, your thoughts?
Oh I love Fumikage. He’s Top Ten MHA characters for me. His quirk is so unique, it being a living Shadow that’s impervious to harm. His character is enjoyable, being an exaggerated character with his whole “revelry in the darkness” shtick, but it’s done in a charming manner where it doesn’t come off as annoying. The bond between Dark Shadow and Fumikage despite them being opposites of each other is also great.
In terms of power, under the right conditions, he’s arguably the second most powerful 1-A member behind Izuku. Sure Katsuki and Shoto counter him, but in pure darkness, Dark Shadow would be powerful enough to power through their attacks and take them out before being weakened to the point he wouldn’t be able to do so.
Unfortunately, like a lot of characters such as Tooru and Denki, Fumikage’s potential as a character is not explored. First off is that he has a mutation. Despite being in the city (which discrimination is less common there) and despite his mutation not being a quirk, him experiencing some discrimination for his appearance could lead down an interesting path. The most criminal aspect about his character Hori failed to explore though is the relationship between Fumikage and Dark Shadow. Living with a sentient quirk must be difficult. Living with a sentient quirk that is influenced by your emotions and can possess you due to said emotions must be a nightmare at times. How has Fumikage lived with such a thing? How has he managed to rein in Dark Shadow to the point where they’re able to cooperate and be a hero? Again, both are on opposite sides of the spectrum in terms of personality, so it’s only natural they’d bump heads. I wish we got more insight on this and honestly I feel that Fumikage would work as a fantastic protagonist if he wasn’t in MHA.
Also, 100% agree on his relationship with Hawks being rushed. It’s similar to Izuku’s relationship with Endeavor the narrative tries to make them closer than they actually are.

@musicfeedsmysoul12 and @lurking96 this is both of y’all’s fault with that thread about how too many fics where Izuku jumps, gets a quirk and just make Bakugo regret it without any actual character change. Just: Izuku goes splat, and now Bakugo is an uwu soft boy who’s really sorry but had no character development visible.
Y’all both get some of the blame for this fic outline I created after a bang, chocolate, and on 2 hours of sleep. It’s still a really rough outline and I don’t have time to polish it up into an actual outline, draft, then fic with my summer classes and job right now. Enjoy my stream of thought with no filter
The Ripple
Izuku has a concussion from Bakugo attacking him at school so his eyesight is off. Everything else is the same up to when All Might leaves him on the roof.
The concussion fucked with his vision, balance, and depth perception. So he ended up accidentally stepping off the side of the building. (Hush, I know that there’s a railing. We’re pretending that when All Might jumped away from Izuku on the roof, he accidentally took like half of it with him.)
Crash, boom, blood. Ambulance carted him off to the hospital and that’s the last we see of Izuku for a while.
They don’t know that All Might was the one who got him up to the rooftop because the notebook with the signature was blown off the roof and into the river. By the time that it was found, it was nothing but mush and the writing was illegible, all runny and blurry. They also just assumed that a villain ripped the railing off in a previous battle and the owner hadn’t gotten it fixed yet.
Inko tells Mitsuki that they think it was suicide because he couldn’t have accidentally gotten up on the roof (No evidence of All Might). Katsuki hears that but refuses to tell anyone that he told Izuku to jump off a roof because that could hurt his chances of being a hero.
Entrance Exam
Fast-forward to the entrance exam, everything proceeds as canon except for the bits with Izuku, which never happened.
Uraraka is stuck under the boulder with the zero pointer bearing down on her. Canon shows no evidence of any pro except Present Mic at the site, and he was last seen at the gates so he isn’t close by to Uraraka.
Uraraka couldn’t escape from the boulder in time and the kill switch takes up to 30 seconds to receive and process. So, the robot steps on the boulder and crushes her leg. She’s rushed to Recovery Girl but the damage is so severe that they have to amputate a leg.
As compensation, UA takes care of all the medical bills and offers her a spot in the Hero Course at UA with her entire tuition paid for all 3 years. Uraraka accepts to make it easier financially on her parents, so she shows up to the first day of classes with a prosthetic leg that she painted pink in an effort to make it less sad.
Quirk Assessment
A random extra is put into 1-A, but they and Mineta are promptly expelled. The extra just didn’t try at all, relying upon the idea that the teacher wouldn’t actually expel anyone on the first day. Mineta was just too pervy/not heroic enough so he got the boot.
Aizawa was reminded of the death of Oboro when Uraraka nearly got crushed, so he’s on high alert to expel those that he believes would never be good at heroics/ would just get themselves killed. Extra not trying and Mineta just focusing on being a perv, made him convinced they would get killed so he just expelled them straight away [No readmission for them]
This shocked Momo who thought he was bluffing and made her more cognizant of the fact that not everyone plays by the same rules as her.
Battle Trial
Battle trials happen. Momo and Uraraka are paired up together and fight twice in the trials. They won both times because Uraraka floated the bomb and Momo in the fight against Todoroki so that it was impossible for Todoroki to capture them. They win against Iida and Bakugo because Uraraka takes advantage of Iida’s unwillingness to hurt someone he views as disabled/helpless and knocks him out with a bat from Momo, then touches the bomb, Momo just created water and soaked Bakugo so he couldn’t use his Quirk and then ran from him.
All other trials proceeded as in canon.
USJ
Since Tsuyu is the only one in the Water Zone [Midoriya not in the story and Mineta expelled], she just went straight for the shore and got back to the entry area via the river. She witnesses the entire beatdown of Aizawa and his fighting, so she’s very traumatized. But because she’s amphibious and is completely underwater [In my hcs, she can breathe underwater as long as water can access most of her skin. So her suit is very permeable and water can get through it], Shigaraki never sees her and so he doesn’t try to kill her.
Rest of the USJ goes as canon dictates including Aizawa getting his head smashed by the Nomu
Sports Festival
Because 1-A has 2 less students, only the first 40 to get to the finish line can pass on. Todoroki ended up getting first place by icing over Bakugo’s legs at the tunnel entrance. Everyone else that originally passed in canon, also passed.
All the teams are the same, except for Uraraka’s team which doesn’t have Midoriya, and Shoji’s who doesn’t have Mineta.
Bakugo is going after Todoroki instead of Uraraka’s team because he’s focused on snagging the winning headband.
Uraraka uses her Quirk on her team and they just hang out in the sky for awhile, since after the boulder, she practiced to be able to lift more weight so that never happens again.
Shoji’s team is the same as canon, especially because Mineta never actually did anything important to the team.
Todoroki never uses his fire because he used his ice to create a dome that kept everyone else away from his team. Bakugo runs around stealing other headbands since he can’t get to Todoroki.
At the end of the round, Todoroki is in first, Bakugo is second, Uraraka is third and Shinso is fourth.
Ojiro and Shoda both drop out citing the fact that they couldn’t remember the event as the reason. Shiozaki Ibara and Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu replace them
So now we have the 1v1 battles with the following students.
Uraraka Ochako
Tokoyami Fumikage
Hatsume Mei
Bakugo Katsuki
Kirishima Eijiro
Ashido Mina
Sero Hanta
Todoroki Shoto
Iida Tenya
Yaoyorozu Momo
Kaminari Denki
Shinso Hitoshi
Aoyama Yuga
Shiozaki Ibara
Tetsutetsu Tetsutestu
Shinso gets a free pass onto the next round because he is a gen ed student so they wanted to allow him the best chance possible and it’s better for the optics of UA for watchers to see a hero student beating up another hero student instead of a gen ed kid.
Todoroki v. Sero -Todoroki won ala iceberg
Kaminari v. Shiozaki  -Kaminari won by sending electricity through her hair and knocking her out because Aizawa forced him to start thinking outside of the box after he nearly died during the USJ [shiozaki has to have nerves to control her vines and nerves have electricity traveling through them. So they’re a conductor and Kaminari can send his electricity down them]
Iida v. Hatsume -He doesn’t accept her gadgets and just pushes her out of bounds. After the Uraraka debacle in his battle trial, he realizes that he can’t just go off his perceptions and has to be wary of them.
Ashido v. Aoyama - Ashido won
Tokoyami v. Yaoyorozu - Yaoyorozu won by creating an explosion of light and blinding them, then pushing them out of the ring. Uraraka taught her to take advantage of what she can do and Aizawa forced her to realize that others don’t have the same rules.
Tetsutetsu v. Kirishima - Kirishima won by charging Tetsutetsu and knocking him out of the ring. Again Aizawa forced him to not just behave as a shield because of the USJ
Uraraka v. Bakugo -Uraraka won by taking off her prosthetic, leaving it as a decoy and floating herself so that he couldn’t hear her coming, and the dust from his explosions had blinded him. She tackled him from above and hurled him out of bounds. He got a concussion and Recovery Girl forced him to stay in the infirmary.
Todoroki v. Shinso -Shinso won by coming after Todoroki’s weak spot and making him talk
Iida v. Kaminari -Kaminari won by shocking Iida’s engines when he tried to grab him. Made him collapse, and then just dragged him out of bounds.
Tokoyami v. Ashido- Tokoyami won by Dark Shadow kicking her out of bounds
Uraraka v. Kirishima -Uraraka won by preying on Kirishima’s desire for manliness and to not hurt a girl. Got close enough to float him and then just push him out of bounds. Aizawa has plans to lecture Kirishima about when to be manly and when to not be.
Shinso v. Kaminari -Shinso won. He could tell that Kaminari was a memelord, so he just took advantage of that and said a meme that Kaminari couldn’t resist completing. [Don’t know what yet, I’ll figure it out later]
Tokoyami v. Uraraka -Tokoyami won. Uraraka lost because she couldn’t use her Quirk on Dark Shadow and Dark Shadow was the one to attack her. [See doc of quirk analysis for more in depth in case we forget]
Shinso v. Tokoyami -Shinso won by mirroring Tokoyami’s speech patterns which knocked him off guard and got him caught into Shinso’s Quirk.
Shinso got first place, Tokoyami got second, Uraraka and Kaminari shared third place.
Hero names
Todoroki -Shoto
Bakugo -King Explosion
Iida -Tenya
Uraraka -Weightless [As a pun on weigh less because of her amputation and her quirk. She’s not quite as bubbly and didn’t feel like uravity reflected her anymore]
Tsuyu -Froppy
Kirishima -Red Riot
Yaoyorozu -Creati [I really want to change this but I don’t know to whaaaat!!! I’ll come back to it later]
Tokoyami -Tsukuyomi
Jiro -EarJack
Shinso -Silencer [Stupid but his quirk makes people silent plus I love MLB silencer design of the , not the helmet tho that is ugly looking and the coloring needs to be more muted imo]
Internships
Shinso gets an internship with Aizawa to assess whether or not he’s fit for heroics. Aizawa also prescreens all of his students' internships to make sure that it’s a good fit for them. [He’s a lot more protective of where they because he wants them to be actually learning useful heroics not shit like how to clean and pose for a camera.]
Mirko offers an internship to Uraraka because she wanted to teach a fighting girl that was perceived as helpless by society. [Society views disabled as helpless, a girl is also viewed as helpless, both is bad combination. Mirko wants to prove anyone can be badass with the right training]
Yaoyorozu gets put with Fatgum because Aizawa sees that she’s struggling with the fat part of her Quirk and knows that if she went with Uwabami, she’d develop more insecurities. [Uwabami is a TV actress/model. She’ll pass on weight/beauty related insecurities because that’s what a lot of actresses have and she seems focused more on a fanbase]
Kirishima goes with Rock Lock to be faced with the blunt truth that ideals are nice, but you can’t have them rule your life as a hero. [Canonly, he’s very blunt and pragmatic, so he’d believe that trying to be manly is fine, but there is a time and place for it.]
Everyone else goes with their canon internships.
The Nomus attack Hosu. Because Gran Torino isn’t there, the Nomus are more dangerous and more civilians die. All the heroes are focused exclusively on managing the Nomus and the interns kinda fall to the wayside since they can’t do anything.
Iida slips away and Manual is too busy putting out fires to notice.
Iida runs off and finds Stain. Battle commences and Iida loses.
Stain calls him and Native fake heroes. Native gets a sliced throat. Stain is a little more lenient with Iida because he is a kid. He goes through the fabric pants and slices the femoral artery to the bone. [Femoral artery cuts can lead to death within minutes especially with Iida running on adrenaline which kicks up the blood pressure and rate of bleeding.]
Endeavour comes through with Shoto burning all the nomus and destroying them. Finally the city is quiet and the search for the dead begins.
Every hero in Hosu grid searched the entire city to retrieve the dead and bring them to the morgue for claiming.
Manual was the one to find his dead intern and Native. He had to call UA and tell them that he got a student killed while under his supervision. He gets blacklisted by UA and Aizawa puts out a warning on the Underground network that if others are under his care, that he might lose track of them.
Once everyone returned from their internships, they left red spider lilies on his desk as a way to guide him to the afterlife.
Training Camp
The villains still want Bakugo because they saw his aggression, violence, and determination to be the best during the sports festival and the internships. So they think he’d be an easy switch to flip.
This time, Aizawa doesn’t dump them out in the middle of the forest because he’s focusing on forcing his students to interact and bond with each other instead of doing their own thing. So they all stay on the bus and Aizawa makes them talk about something semi-important with a seat partner for 10 minutes before switching so that everyone talks to more than just their friend groups.
When they arrive, Kota is his bratty self and Aizawa shuts that down fast. He tells him that he has two options, one: stay with his aunts and uncle or two: stay with Aizawa. Aizawa can’t have an itty-bitty child running around loose in the forest when 17 hormonal teenagers are letting off their Quirks which are dangerous. [it was an awful idea in canon to let Kota hide in his treehouse. Imagine if one of the kids near the mountain lost control of their quirk.] Kota chooses to stay with his aunts and uncle at all times because Aizawa is scary.
Once the training starts, he pairs everyone up with different partners to force their Quirks to improve.
Ashido-Kirishima to strengthen her acid and his hardening by hurling acid at him
Tokoyami-Kaminari-Aoyama to force Aoyama to maintain his laser beam for longer, Tokoyami to force him to strengthen Dark Shadow against light, Kaminari to power multiple light sources without burning them out and not going into whee mode so he can avoid the laser beam and Dark Shadow
Ojiro-Koda to force Koda to vary the animals that he calls and Ojiro to give him experience with fending off multiple opponents of varying sizes and skill levels without seriously injuring them.
Todoroki-Bakugo-Tsuyu to force Todoroki to be able to control both sides of his quirks and switch them easily, Tsuyu to force her to get accustomed to varying temperatures and making sure they don’t knock her out, Bakugo to force him to sweat more in both cold and hot temperatures so that he’s more versatile.
Jiro-Shoji-Hagakure to force Hagakure to improve her stealth and fighting, Jiro to make her be able to detect people sneaking up on her, and Shoji to improve his locating skills and stealth. [Shoji is a big boy and needs to work on stealth]
Sero-Sato to help Sero with his dodging and speed, and Sato to help him retain more of his planning and forethought while his Quirk is activated
Uraraka-Yaoyorozu to make Uraraka work on her sickness and weight limits and Yaoyorozu to adapt to planning on the fly and create items quickly.
Aizawa forces them to break away from their training partners when it’s time to make dinner and everyone is required to help in some way during the meal. The help can be gathering the ingredients, preparing them, doing the actual cooking, plating, setting the table, cleaning up after, anything as long as they contributed.
Repeat until the trial of courage.
Vlad wants to do the trial and Aizawa refuses to do it. Aizawa is actively trying to squash out the competitiveness of his students in order to make them work together and ask for help so that they’ll survive longer in the hero society. Uraraka lost a leg because people wouldn’t cooperate to help her in the entrance exam and Iida died because he was too focused on himself and didn’t ask for help. The trial would just reignite the competitiveness and ruin his progress.
1-B does the trial on their own while 1-A is given a maze they have to navigate.
The maze is created by Pixie Bob and is huge. It’s large enough that the students on the ground can’t peek over the walls to see the path. There are two students on the ground, the leader and the guide. The leader can see the walls and the turns but has earplugs in so they can’t hear the guide if the guide tries to talk. The guide can hear the directions from the person who sees the entire maze but is blindfolded and has to guide through tapping the shoulders of the leader. The person outside and looking down has to direct their team through the maze quickly without crashing into other teams. The leader can’t just guess a direction because Pixiebob will shift the maze if they try to do that so they can’t backtrack. It’s in teams of three so Aizawa is directing the last team. [Kinda inspired by survivor but with my own twist]
All of them rotate through each position with different teams each go round to impress on them the importance of all the roles.
In the last round, Bakugo was the person issuing instructions, cursing and screaming through the mic the entire time.
That’s when the villains attacked. But there were a few changes in the lineup.
Toga wasn’t there because the police picked her up and Inko got her case taken on to get her on parole and took her into her home when she saw her at the station while continuing with the criminal charges levied against the owner of the building that Izuku had fallen off of. The appearance of a girl bullied and ostracized for her Quirk, who was going down the path of no return, Inko saw Izuku in her. As such, she wanted to care for her and show her that villainy wasn’t the answer and that there are people who cared for her in spite of her blood Quirk. [Toga is stuck with Inko at this point in time and has a tracking anklet to make sure that she’s behaving. Rehab is going really well with the unconditional care that Inko is providing.]
Dabi got an infection and landed in the hospital ER as an unknown patient and wound up in a coma while his body was busy trying to fight the infection of his staples. [The man’s a walking open wound. You can sneeze in his general vicinity and have a high chance of taking him down in a couple weeks. Haven’t decided if I want to wake him up or not. Depends on my feelings]
Mustard joined the attack via Toga due to them being closer in age and talking. No Toga, no Mustard. [He’s sulking in detention right now.]
So the only ones left are Mr. Compress, Magne, Spinner, Muscular, Moonfish, Twice and the Nomu. Much smaller and no long-range attacks.
Their mission is to get in, extract Bakugo and get out with minimal damage. That’s what happened.
Muscular, Moonfish, and the Nomu all rampage on the opposite side of the mountain to draw attention to them. Magne and Spinner break up the 1-A class and drive them apart. Twice and Mr. Compress work together to snatch up Bakugo in a marble and then they all book it. Muscular and Moonfish are both left behind to keep the heroes distracted long enough for them to get back to Kurogiri and through the portal. Nomu ended up buried in a mountain via a very anger Tiger at the disruption of his naps. The students all worked together to try and bring down the villain to retrieve their classmate, but when that failed, Yaoyorozu managed to attach a tracker to the villains top hat.
Injuries were minimal and the three heavy hitting villains were arrested and locked up. The only casualty was Bakugo being kidnapped.
Kidnapping Arc
Blah, blah, join us you can be stronger and win a villain-Shigaraki
No, fuck off, go fuck yourselves-Bakugo
Repeat until All Might shows up
Then AfO activates goop Quirk [really need a better name for that. better than vomit transport quirk at least. That was my first thought], drags the league and Bakugo to him. Bakugo is held by him, hand on his temple ready to crush him.
Rest of Heroes all show up on the battlefield but aren’t moving so that Bakugo doesn’t get hurt. Essentially a stand off.
You know, you can tell whether or not someone has the potential for villainy by their greatest regret -AfO
AfO has a quirk that allows the user to see someone’s greatest regret, with more details the longer that the quirk is activated. He also has a quirk that allows him to project whatever he’s thinking about in a video format for everyone to see. [the man is old. he probably had a habit of taking whatever quirk he wanted when he was younger before all might turned him into a very ugly potato/alternate darth vader]
Quirks activate and it’s the scene of Bakugo telling Izuku to get jump off a building spliced with the news from Inko that Izuku was suspected of jumping off a building
Interesting. Why is that your greatest regret?-AfO
Quirk gives him more details.
Bakugo only regrets saying that because if it ever became public, he'd never reach the spot of number one hero which is his only goal in life.
Guess you are nothing but a villain after all. Too obsessed with yourself to see the damage you caused.-Afo
Afo shoved the boy away from him and forcibly activated Kurogiri’s Quirk to allow the league to escape.
Every hero on site is frozen in shock at the reveal of what a hero student of UA, the most prestigious hero school that graduated most of the top heroes in Japan, actually believed.
At that point, AfO flips All Might the finger and just goes through the portal because the news would shake society’s faith in UA which is really good. He can kill All Might later. [or just wait for any infection to take the man out. He lost his stomach so he probably lost his spleen too which is kinda important for the immune system.]
Fallout
Bakugo is booted to gen ed because Aizawa refused to teach someone that was just going to end up hurting someone later in life. Because Aizawa is an Underground Hero who specializes in information and predication, schools tend to believe in what he says about the potential/future of heroes in training especially when he has evidence to back up his beliefs. So no other school will take him on as a hero student.
Bakugo is essentially blacklisted from heroics because everyone wants to believe that a hero is good and just. And when the illusion is broken before it has a chance to solidify, they have no chance of becoming a hero.
Aizawa goes and apologizes in person to Inko. Because even though he had no way of knowing, he feels like he should have recognized the abusive tendencies and/or egocentrism  of Bakugo earlier. So, allowing it to continue was a slap in the face to his victims.
Inko accepts his apology because she didn’t know about it either so how could she blame him when she was closer and still missed all the signs. She offers to let Aizawa visit Izuku because Eraserhead was one of his favorite heroes because of how much skill he had. But because Eraserhead was underground, he didn’t have any merch or enough information to write about him.
*Split path here depending on the angst level I want
1. Izuku is in a coma, all healed up, just hasn’t woken up. When they came, Izuku had just woken up a half hour ago so the doctors were busy checking all his vitals, memory, joints, etc. Inko cries, Aizawa stands away because he’s allergic to emotions, and Izuku is just silently fanboying because he sees one of his favorite heroes.
2.Izuku is in a coma and doesn’t wake up. Inko introduces Aizawa to him and tells Aizawa about his dreams and his story. Aizawa makes sure that at least once a week, he comes and visits to talk to him. He also brings other heroes to introduce to Midoriya to make sure that others know about him.
3.Aizawa and Inko go to a graveyard and the name Midoriya Izuku is carved into a family grave marker with flowers and an All Might figure in front of it. Inko tells Aizawa that Izuku died from falling from the building. They thought he jumped randomly, but with the new info, Inko is thinking that Bakugo might’ve pushed him verbally over the edge. Aizawa promises to investigate more.

PART 2 | previously: part 1 | masterlist
pairing: Katsuki Bakugou x fem! reader
ratings/warnings: swearing, violence, mention of blood
synopsis: When UA’s hot heads, Katsuki Bakugou and you, are forced to put your hatred for each other aside and plan the third year Prom, things end up getting a little heated...
a/n: hi hi❤️ i hope you all are doing well! this part is more fight scene style so it was a little harder to write since im not used to writing fight scenes but i hope it turned out okay :) taglist is open so just lmk if you’d like to be added :)) enjoy xx
two: a good team
You stared at the projection, hoping that it was just a figment of your imagination and that your name wasn’t actually next to Bakugou’s.
“Uh Mr. Aizawa, don’t you think Y/N and Bakugou should be split up? They might blow up the whole training course,” said Denki.
“I agree with Charge Bolt over here. I would respectfully like to request a partner change,” you smiled, raising your hand.
“I’d rather go with Deku than you…” muttered Bakugou.
“Ouch Kacchan.”
“Teams are final, no one is switching,” said Aizawa firmly, “besides, you two need to learn how to work with each other eventually.”
You rolled your eyes and let out a frustrated sigh.
“Great…”
“The villain team can go and head inside. You’ll have 5 minutes until the heroes go inside,” explained Aizawa. Deku and Todoroki ran inside the training ground as you and Bakugou waited on the other side.
“You better not get in my way,” Bakugou muttered.
“We need a plan idiot. If Todoroki freezes us we’ll be screwed,” you said.
“Fine. I’ll take out Deku and Icyhot and you grab the hostage.”
“That is not at all what I was talking about. Remember we have to immobilize them before grabbing the hostage. No way you could take out both of them at the same time.”
“HUH? You’re doubting me?”
“I’m being realistic. As much as I’d rather be kicking your ass right now, we have to work together on this.”
Bakugou sighed.
Finally, the buzzer rang, allowing you and Bakugou entrance into the training ground. This being newly constructed, you had no idea what to expect.
“What the…” your voice trailed off as you looked around the facility. There were multiple small buildings, simulating a city setting. In the middle of it all there was a building bigger than the rest. At the very top, there hung the ‘hostage’ tied up over the edge. You could see another person up there, but couldn’t tell who it is.
“Okay listen, whoever is up there with the hostage is probably Deku, because he’s better with one on one fights. I’m assuming Todoroki is hidden in the lower levels of the building to stop us from getting up to the roof. He'll probably do a surprise ice attack and freeze our feet,” you explained.
You looked over at Bakugou, who was just staring up at the building.
“Hey explosion boy, did you listen to anything I just said?” You asked, poking his arm.
“I’ll fly up, take the hostage, then deal with Deku. You have fun with Icyhot,” he said, beginning to fire up his hands. You shook your head.
“Oh my god do you ever listen? Fine go,” you huffed.
Bakugou didn’t hesitate a second to start blasting his explosions to carry himself up.
Once he was in the air, you began to run towards the lower level of the building. You quieted your feet as you got closer to the opened door. You decided to create a small explosion, just big enough to detect whether or not Shoto was hidden as you suspected. You began to generate heat waves and nitrogen atoms, pressing your hands together to create fusion. Once the atoms were fused together, you threw it inside.
*BOOM*
Perfect. Once you heard that sweet sound you creeped inside. Your mini explosion blew a large hole in the walls that surrounded you. You felt the air get colder, signaling that Shoto was most likely near. Being against someone with a colder quirk was definitely a conflict for you. You tried to follow the colder air, as your suit warned you of your body heat lowering.
“Of course it had to be ice…” you mumbled.
“Ice isn’t all bad,” a voice said. You jumped and saw Todoroki emerge from the leftover smoke of your explosion.
“Really half-and-half? I’m more of a fire girl myself. You should use that sweet left side of yours instead,” you smiled.
Of course he wouldn’t fall for it. He knew damn well that if your body got too cold, your quirk would turn timid.
“No thanks.”
Todoroki shot out large slabs of ice towards you in an attempt to keep you contained. Lucky for you though, you saw it coming and dodged the other way. As a counter attack to Shoto’s ice, you threw another small nitrogen explosion towards him. The ice chucks flew up, leaving a scratch on Shoto’s face.
“Shit-” he mumbled. Shoto continued to shoot ice at you but you kept on sending small explosions towards him. As the temperatures lowered, so did your explosive powers.
“You should really use a variety of moves, Shoto. Ice gets old pretty easily,” you teased. Your strategy was to wear him out before you.
“Oh really?” Shoto placed his hands on the floor.
Shit that’s exactly what I didn’t want him to do.
You jumped up just as the ice would have covered your feet. But now you were having to stand in the slippery ice. Suddenly, you had an idea.
You began creating hydrogen atoms in both hands, using the last of your stored heat to bond them. Shoto continued to throw ice daggers your way, causing you to multitask. Once your bonds were built to your desiring, you executed your plan.
“Jokes on you Shoto, I actually like the cold.” From the distance that Todoroki was standing from the wall, you needed to throw your explosions far enough away from him so you don’t permanently injure him. Shoto threw one last ice slab towards you and you threw your two bonds on both sides of him.
*BOOM*
As the smoke cleared, you saw that you had busted the walls down.
Well we’ll definitely get points off for that.
You felt a sharp pain in your bicep and saw that there was a piece of ice stuck between your skin.
Fuck that hurts.
You ripped the ice chunk out of your arm and threw it on the floor. The cut began to bleed but you ignored it. It was the least of your worries right now.
You waved away the smoke and tried to find Todoroki. He laid on his back, covered in debris.
“Sorry Shoto, you should’ve used fire like I said.”
You attached the makeshift handcuffs to the almost passed out Todoroki.
“Excuse me but I’ve gotta go deal with that idiot Bakugou now.”
~
You rushed up the stairs to get onto the roof. Once outside, you were relieved to be in the sunshine again. You looked around and saw Deku and Bakugou fighting. The roof was destroyed from Bakugou’s explosions. Deku must have given him a tougher time than expected. Deku had Bakugou pinned onto the ground.
“Wow Bakugou, I take out Todoroki and you still haven’t caught Miydoria? Amateur work,” you laughed.
“NOT THE TIME MS. ATOMIC OKAY!” huffed Bakugou.
“Ha, guess I’ll have to just save your ass. Sorry about this Deku.”
You charged over to Deku and Bakugou. You hit Deku with a tiny explosion on his side. Now that you were in a warmer atmosphere, your construction time was almost instantaneous. Deku flew off of Katsuki leaving both of you with the upper hand. Deku stood up, sparking green.
“Don’t be sorry for me Y/N.” Deku ran towards you, yelling his signature phrase and punched you in the stomach. You collapsed onto the ground.
“You little shit-” you groaned.
That’s definitely gonna leave a bruise.
Bakugou went back to fighting Izuku as you caught your breath.
“Y/N GET OVER HERE!” shouted Bakugou.
You stumbled onto your feet and began generating another explosion, bigger than your last ones. You had another idea and hoped Bakugou would go along with it. You ran over to Bakugou, jumped onto his shoulders, and threw your bond towards the ground as Bakugou used his explosions to fly you both away from the debris. Deku went tumbling across the roof.
Once the smoke had cleared and you saw that Deku wasn’t getting back up, you knew the two of you had won. Bakugou set the both of you down and you hopped off of him.
“Uh, you handcuff Deku and I’ll untie the hostage,” you said. Bakugou nodded. You unhooked the hostage from the ledge and threw it over your shoulder.
“Hero team wins. Nice job. I’ll get Recovery Girl…” called Aizawa from the loud speaker. You looked over at a collapsed Deku.
“Told you,” you smirked.
~
You and Bakugou made your way down the building to the rest of your classmates as they waited outside the gate.
“WOW great job guys!” cheered Kirishima.
“How did you know to get on Bakugou’s shoulders Y/N?” asked Denki. Your face went warm.
“Uh just out of instinct duh. I’m surprised that whole trick even worked,” you replied nervously.
“Yeah well if it weren’t for me it wouldn’t have,” said Bakugou. You rolled your eyes.
“You two actually make a pretty good team,” smiled Kirishima.
“Shut up,” said you and Bakugou, at the same time. Yours and Bakugou’s eyes widened at each other.
“Oh so now you’re copying me, dumbass?” growled Bakugou.
“I SAID IT FIRST, IDIOT!” You huffed.
“It’s like they’re the same person…” whispered Uraraka.
“SHUT UP!”

Some More Talk About Parallels: BKDK and the Narrative Frame
Tumblr media
Warning: I've tagged all the ships I talk about in this post, but no one (aside from the obvious) is in focus.
So I've been thinking a lot about Character Parallels in My Hero Academia lately. This started when I made these really popular posts:
Bakugou + Uraraka Parallels: https://mysterylover123.tumblr.com/post/645294173928505344/bakugou-uraraka-parallels
and
MHA + Boys Admiring Girls
https://mysterylover123.tumblr.com/post/645370264217075712/mha-boys-admiring-girls
This started with me noticing first that Bakugou and Ochako seemed like parallel characters (not my original observation, lots have noticed). Then that each of the boys seemed to have a girl who acted like a female counterpart -
Tumblr media
Deku=Tsuyu, Ochako=Bakugou, Momo=Todoroki, Mina=Kirishima, Jirou=Kaminari. And subsequently, TsuChako=BKDK; Minachako=Kiribaku, MinaJirou=KiriKami, etc.
All so good so far, but then I noticed that while Momo has a few moments with Ochako and Tsuyu, their dynamic doesn't really resemble Todoroki's relationship with the WonderDuo. Rather, the duo that Momo relates to who resemble Deku and Kacchan is actually Jirou and Kaminari, as I posted about yesterday:
Between Momo and Todoroki, I think the resemblance between MomoJirou and TodoBaku is actually striking too; the basic dynamic, the occasionally snippy friendship started at USJ, the way that the two duos Owned the second half of Season 4 (and the movie); more so than Momo/Ochako, MomoJirou parallels TodoBaku.
But the entire basis of the comparison I made was Bakugou and Ochako as counterparts. So I started pulling back and rethinking this. Maybe instead, the similarity is not just the Gender Counterpart, but that most of the supporting characters form into pairs (And occasionally trios) that resemble Deku/Kacchan.
aka:
Tumblr media
Kaminari/Jirou - Kaminari plays Deku's role, Jirou Bakugou's.
Tsuyu/Ochako - Tsuyu plays Deku's role, Ochako Bakugou's.
Ochako/Iida - Between these two, Ochako becomes Deku's role, Iida Bakugou's.
Todoroki/Momo: AS I pointed out in another post, Todoroki plays Deku's role, Momo Bakugou's.
Tumblr media
Kirishima/Mina: Kirishima as Deku, Mina as Bakugou; this one is pretty obvious.
Mirio/Tamaki; All Might/Endeavor, Erasermic, The First and Second OFA users, even Shindo/Tatami, and Bakugou's Parents Masaru and Mitsuki; multiple character duos throughout the series that parallel the mains. Obviously, the point of these parallels is to draw upon the large, overarching character duo that forms the heart of the show.
I am a little more fond of this setup for following the characters, since it's less gender based and more about the characters' personalities and overarching themes; I've already explained three of these (KMJR, TDMM and TSCHK) in detail, and the others are fairly self-evident.
However, that does present me with a final question, that I think many fans have been asking. Up until the Joint Training Arc, you could probably have made the argument that the basic parallel duos outlined here all follows a similar track to Deku and Kacchan's story.
Tumblr media
Meeting and becoming foils/rivals (Deku and Kacchan's childhood, Todoroki and Momo in the entrance exam, Jirou and Kaminari at USJ, Kirishima and Mina in the backstory, and Uraraka and her foil being either Iida or Tsu in season 1)
The Deku analogue starts surpassing the Bakugou analogue (Todoroki to Momo in Season 2, Kaminari beats Jirou in the Sports Festival, Kirishima does better than Mina in the same arc)
The two become great teammates, though maybe grudgingly, for an arc (BKDK & TDMM=Final Exams, IICHK & KMJR=USJ, KRMN=Sports Fest, TSCHK=Training camp)
The Bakugou analogue confesses their insecurities to the Deku analogue (DVK2, Yaoyorozu Rising, Culture Fest arc, TSCHK=internship arc, IICHKO=Sports Fest prep room)
The Deku analogue helps reaffirm the Bakugou Analogue by confessing how much they admire them (same arcs for all but Ochako)
The duo cheer each other on more healthily in the Joint Training Arc (all of them except TSCHK)
During that time, of course, both duos interact pretty randomly with other characters. But earlier on, and starting in Chapter 217, BKDK themselves change their dynamic. As you all probably know, at the point we're at in Season 5, they pretty much added a third party member. Todoroki.
Tumblr media
Ever since the Internship arc (in some ways, ever since the Sports Festival), Todoroki has been more than just Deku's friend and other rival. Todoroki has an equal relationship with both Deku and Kacchan, and you could make the case that Todoroki is just as much a part of the Wonder Duo dynamic as Deku or Kacchan.
They form something of a trinity. While Shoto isn't completely integrated into the OFA thing yet, he is so close to it that he might as well be.
And thus you get the conflict. Is MHA a story about duos - BKDK=esuqe character pairings that combine equal aspects, opposite traits, and complete each other to become great teams? Or is it actually about trios, TDBKDK=esque trinities that combine a third quality needed to succeed All Might?
This is where the question gets important to me. WE've always believed, I think ,in the simple narrative line presented by Deku and Kacchan. Win by saving, save to win. Two halves of All Might. Bring them together (and by extension, their analogue pairings) and you get your perfect hero team.
But what if Hori has actually shifted the narrative? What if Todoroki has actually been integrated into the Wonder duo narrative? Is there a third aspect of being the World's Greatest Hero that we're missing with just Deku and Kacchan as a hero duo? Since Hori is no longer using the Heroes Rising ending, what is the new one?
During the Winter Intern arc, Endeavor gave the Origin Trio three assignments: Rescue, Fighting, Evacuation. "Evacuation" is a strange title to symbolize the third category, but what if it does indicate a third aspect to heroism Shoto represents? And that integrating the three main All Might fanboys into his successors?
Tumblr media
Shoto, who was raised to succeed him from birth and inspired by a video with his mom; Katsuki, who based his life around succeeding All Might and always winning; and Izuku, who did the same, based on his favorite video as well. And in that case, does the Momo/Kami/Jirou trinity parallel them, as I suggested?
Mind you, the "everyone is duos" concept is still just fine to me as an option. But I'm open to the idea that the story is all about trinities now. Tell me what you think.

Shouto-kun
summary: It takes Shouto five times to realize why Midoriya calling him by his hero name is special. By the time he first reads his name on that letter, it's too late.
word count: 2548
tags: Tododeku, angst, open ending/no happy ending, one-shot, introspection, Todoroki realizes his feelings
warning: HEAVY SPOILERS UP TO CHAPTER 307/308
also on ao3 and ff.net
---
"Shouto-kun!"
The first time it happens, he's too stunned to say anything back. Shouto pauses, he stares at the teen he considers his first ever friend, now his best friend. Midoriya doesn't seem to realise as he babbles on about the quirk of the villain they just encountered, furiously scribbling into his notebook as he does so. His costume looks dirty, it's torn in multiple places. Not that Shouto’s looks any better. Midoriya looks a bit tired but is in high spirits, the smaller teen genuinely loves going on patrol.
"Shouto-kun?"
It's again the name that startles Shouto and brings back to reality. He lifts his chin. Midoriya looks at him questioningly.
"Shouto-kun, are you coming?"
Of course he calls him that. It's Shouto’s hero name after all, and they’re on patrol during the internship. Shaking his head, the dual quirk wielder catches up to his friend, a grumpy looking Bakugou and deeply focussed Endeavour.
"It's nothing," he quickly shrugs off Midoriya’s frown.
Only that he wished his friend would call him by that name more often, and not just because it's his hero name.
Shouto is confused.
---
"..doroki-kun? Todoroki-kun?"
He frowns at his soba noodles, not hearing his friend's calls.
"Shouto-kun."
It's lower than before, almost as if he's scared speaking the words, and yet Shouto almost jumps at hearing his first name out of Midoriya's mouth. The freckled teen eyes him with worry, a few wrinkles appearing between his brows.
"Todoroki-kun," he begins anew, as if not daring to use the other name once more, and it somehow disappoints Shouto, "are you okay? I mean, I'm sure there's a lot on your mind, we know Endeavour is stable and he'll be able to continue, whatever that means for your family’s future, but you didn't seem entirely comfortable with the others talking about it, which is understandable, of course! But if you don't like it, just tell-"
"Midoriya," he interrupts, "it's fine. It really is." He adds the last part after seeing the wrinkles grow deeper on Midoriya's face. The freckled boy studies him for another few seconds, then finally replaces the frown with a soft expression. A small smile that pierces Shouto’s chest like a knife. He doesn't understand, he doesn't know what it is, but he only dares to clutch his shirt once Midoriya has turned back to his lunch. Shouto stares at his soba, the cold one, his favourite, but he can't eat. All he sees is that warm smile.
---
The third time Midoriya uses his first name he replies, and it's a mistake. He's tired, it's been a long day. He lost - it was a draw, but it still counts as losing to him - the match against class B. His whole team did. They tried everything, but it wasn’t enough. They didn’t have a genius tactician like Yaoyorozu or Midoriya on their team, they had some heavy hitters like Iida and himself, but it still wasn’t enough. Once again Shouto realizes the value of teamwork and a good backup plan. Things they failed to apply correctly today.
"Shouto-kun!" Midoriya calls out to him. Shouto doesn't even see his friend blush and stammering an apology, he doesn't realize it was by accident, he is trapped in his own mind, the match playing on loop in his head. Some moments later his brain seems to catch up and his mouth moves on its own as the name rolls over his lips, "Izuku."
He doesn't realize his mistake at first. Casually withdrawing from his musings Shouto shifts into a better position, his back is starting to hurt, and looks over the backrest of the couch to the other teen.
Midoriya stares at him with wide eyes. There's just a tiny gap between his lips, like he wants to say something, but is too perplexed by whatever just occurred.
Shouto finally notices. His own eyes widen, and he feels his cheeks heat up, it's a miracle he doesn't accidentally set something on fire. "Sorry- I didn't," he starts.
Midoriya blinks a few times, seems to recover, and frantically starts waving his arms in front of his face. The freckles almost disappear in the redness of his blush.
Cute, it strikes Shouto. A word he's never used before, not unless being challenged to do so. He blinks.
"Oh, no, no, it's fine, Todoroki-kun! I called you first! Sorry if it made you feel uncomfortable, I didn't mean to, I just slipped!"
"It doesn't make me feel uncomfortable," Shouto informs him as if it's the most ordinary thing in the world. Midoriya's arms drop.
"Oh, okay. I'm still sorry." He averts his eyes. Shouto can't help but feel like he's done something wrong. After a quick consultation with himself, he decides, "It's fine, I don't mind. Use whatever you're more comfortable with."
Midoriya looks at him with a blank expression that's so unlike himself. Did Shouto overstep? Is there a boundary he isn’t aware of? He's still learning this whole friendship thing, and although he's gotten better, he can't catch up with ten years of experience in just a few months.
Whatever his friend wanted to say back, he doesn't get to say it. Uraraka appears and drags him away laughing, Iida closely on her heels. The class president waves his arms around, but Shouto pays no mind to his words. He turns around to stare at the muted TV, not really caring about whatever cartoon is playing. His mind is preoccupied with other things.
He doesn't see Ashido throw intrigued glances at him from the other couch.
---
The fourth time he doesn't know whether it's an accident, whether Midoriya intended to use his hero name or not. It's an unlucky incident during another heroes versus villains exercise. He and Midoriya are up against Aoyama and Yaoyorozu - he doesn't know how Aoyama will play into this, but the raven-haired girl is a force to be reckoned with. It won't be an easy win, but they do stand a good chance. Midoriya came up with no less than two backup plans, aware Yaoyorozu knows him well enough to prepare counter measurements. They head out, separate, first up is a deceptive manoeuvre. Everything goes according to plan, then the other team counters, it's time for plan B. Shouto takes a deep breath, uses his fire to distract while secretly sending ice across the floor.
Then he hears the yelp. He yanks his head to the left, just in time to see Midoriya to fall off a broken pipe. His teammate tries to latch onto something with the black ribbon-tentacle-tendril-thing he calls black whip, but it's one badly timed attack from Aoyama that reflects off a shiny surface and blinds the falling boy. Shouto hears an unhealthy cracking sound as Midoriya hits another pipe before crashing down.
Shouto blasts himself there in an instant, somehow he makes it in time to catch his friend before he hits the concrete. They still crash, but Shouto protectively holds the other boy in his arms.
Midoriya's head is bleeding. It must hurt judging by the way the green haired teen can barely keep his eyes open. They look a bit dull and unfocussed, it takes a moment for him to even realize it's Shouto who's holding him.
"Sho-Shouto-kun…"
The heterochromatic teen ignores the way his heart misses a beat. He turns around to look at the drone broadcasting the fight, a silent question lingering in his expression.
Aizawa stops the match (Shouto ignores the thought that All Might wouldn't have). It's nothing unusual for students to get injured, the boy in his arms has broken enough bones to prove that, but head injuries have to be taken seriously. Midoriya's fall looked especially terrible.
"Beautiful…"
At first, he thinks it's his imagination. Shouto looks back down at his injured friend who bestows him with a gaze he's never seen from the boy before. His eyes are almost closed and yet they seem full of wonder and… Admiration?
.
Shouto stares at his own reflection. The flaming red, distorted scar tissue covers a big part of his face. Sometimes he wonders why he can still see, or why he still has an eyebrow. (The thought that it's probably a frost burn and not from the hot water itself is too painful to accept, even after all these years.)
It's unsightly.
Beautiful
Shouto frowns. There is nothing beautiful in that. He doesn't understand why Ashido keeps calling him a snack or where the heart covered letters he sometimes finds in his locker come from. It's hideous. He must have misheard. There is no way Midoriya called him beautiful.
.
His mother laughs. It's still small and she hides it beneath her hand, but it's music to his ears. So foreign, so new, so nice. She takes his hand and squeezes it, reassures him that he is quite handsome, and she doesn't say that because she's his mother - who believes those words coming out of one's own mother's mouth - and that his scar doesn't change anything about that. If anything, it makes him more special.
Then she tells him to ask Midoriya if he truly meant it, since it's bothering Shouto that much.
His face flushes. Shouto didn't say anything about Midoriya.
---
The fifth and last time, it's during the war. Shigaraki is a monster, and they can't do anything against him, Gigantomachia is breaking free, Dabi - Touya - appears-
The blasts of the blows send Shouto flying like a dry leaf in the wind. His eyes can't keep up. Midoriya is… Midoriya is…
He doesn't seem human anymore. That strength is like nothing Shouto has ever seen before, and he has no doubt that one day his friend will genuinely surpass All Might…
But it's also scary. Terrifying, really. Midoriya keeps breaking his own body, again and again, more and more, he doesn't hear Shouto’s screams. Bakugou gets stabbed, Shouto barely catches his leg while blasting himself around with half his body, his father is already dangling from his other hand, then Midoriya falls and he can't catch him, but he flies in anyway, at least breaking his fall so the damage won't be too bad.
He applies first aid. But Midoriya is so broken, he doesn't know how to fix it. Bakugou is bleeding out. His father isn't moving, and the fight is far from over.
His memory gets blurry. He's suddenly fighting Touya, the brother he believed to be dead for most of his life. Touya is a villain now. He has killed people, and is proud of admitting so, he openly declares that he wants to kill Shouto just to hurt their father-
That's when Midoriya called him by his name again. No honorifics.
"SHOUTO!" His voice breaks, and yet Midoriya continues trying to defend Shouto and Endeavour. He wants to get back up and join the fight no matter how many times Shouto silently pleads him to stay down, he can't see him get any more hurt...
---
Shouto doesn't visit Midoriya. He can't bring himself to. It's something he will later regret more than he can put into words.
First of all, his family is in shambles, even after his mom arrives and they talk, he knows nothing is going to be like before.
Secondly, he feels useless. He couldn't do anything against Shigaraki. He saw his friends get torn apart, receiving life threatening injuries, while he himself only suffered a few burns and will be unable to talk for a while. He couldn't even do anything against Touya - Dabi - whoever the villain is now.
And he swears to himself that he won't be that useless in the future. He will do better, he has to. He has to be the one to stop Dabi. His father is too broken to do so. He can’t look Midoriya in the eyes until his voice is back and he can tell that directly to his best friend.
When suddenly everyone in class receives a personal letter from Midoriya, explaining his situation, Shouto thinks it's just a bad dream. A nightmare. There is no way his friend is stupid enough to leave on his own, even - especially - now that All for One is after him, personally, Midoriya had to know that he can't win on his own…
Shouto stares at the crumpled letter in his fingers. He has read it so many times he's scared it could fall apart the next time he touches it, but he can't keep himself from doing so.
Dear Shouto-kun
Midoriya is gone.
No, he's not gone gone, he's still alive, somewhere out there. Just a few days ago Shouto watched his best friend, the person closest to him, wipe the floor with Muscular as if the high-grade villain was some petty mugger on live TV. All the way back in summer camp, when the days were still warm and his heart was full, Midoriya once again broke every bone in his arms to keep that same villain from hurting a little boy. Two days ago he two-shotted this big villain with the same ease he'd pull out weed.
Shouto lets go of a shaky sigh. He ignores the burning of his eyes.
Please be okay, he thinks, he begs, he prays and he doesn't believe in any gods. Not since his father started beating his mother. But for Midoriya, he will pray.
… it's a power that was passed on to me by All Might…
Shouto doesn't care where it's from. Because Midoriya's power is his own, just like Shouto's fire isn't his father's. And that power, those quirks, it's not what makes Midoriya strong, what makes him a hero. No, Midoriya's strength lies in his character. His selflessness. His caring and soft nature, his kindness, the fierceness he protects those who can't fend for themselves. His bright smile that makes Shouto's heart flutter, his big eyes he can't help but get lost in, his rough hands that help him up whenever Shouto finds himself on the ground.
Shouto finally knows what he saw in Midoriya's eyes that day. It's the same look he's been giving the other teen for a while. The same fond expression he keeps hidden from his classmates whenever he watches the freckled teen do something amazing again.
It's not admiration, it's adoration.
Shouto's skin heats up and a tiny flame flickers on the back of his left hand.
Maybe he should have told him that. Maybe he should have told Midoriya how much he meant to Shouto, how his presence alone made the taller teen's heart speed up, how his mumbling brought a smile to Shouto's lips. Maybe he should have told Midoriya that he wasn't alone, that he didn't care where he got his quirk from, that even if he didn't have one, he would still be the most important person in Shouto's life.
But now it's too late. And deep inside, Shouto knows it won't change anything. Midoriya would have left anyway. He may have left even earlier knowing how much Shouto would give up to help him, how Shouto would sacrifice anything for the other boy.
But it's too late to say that now.
A single, hot tear drops onto his lap.
Shouto hasn't cried since he was five years old.
---
A/N: Thank you so much for reeding! This may get a second part once we're further into the arc, maybe even from Izuku's POV.

Class 1-A Game Night Headcannons
Here’s a lil somthin that popped into my head.
Tumblr media
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘∘₊✧──────✧₊∘∘₊✧──────✧₊∘∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
Yuuga Aoyama
This boy has no shame
They could never beat him at Just Dance or Twister he’s just too bold
They could never let him and Mina play against each other on Just Dance they were dancing till they dropped.
TWISTER ohh boy y’all know his pose right? Once he does that he automatcally wins everyone else is wayyy to embarrased to continue.
Mina Ashido
Just Dance QUEEN
She and Aoyama battle in Just Dance
One of the best people to sit next to in Uno
Sometimes they just play Life just for fun but she always wins. She has a whole family, a car, a house, and a whole lot of money
She totally stole everyone’s money
Tsuyu Asui
She normally likes to play calm games that won’t end friendships *cough* UNO *cough*
She could totally own everyone in Clue, she just knows your tells.
She always comes in third in monopoly, she knows what to do with her money and how to properly spend it.
She says “Sorry” in Sorry
Katsuki Bakugo
UNO.
Don’t play with this boy, and if you do, don’t sit next to him. One of two things could happen
1. You get PLUS 2′d and 4′d a bunch of times or at least until someone reverses it.
2. They could be plaiyng with the “7, 0 rule” and you get a hold of his arsenal deck and just have a whole lot of plus 2′s and 4′s you just kept looking back and forth from your deck to him
One time Hagakure thought it would be fun to play with jumbo cards you sat there lookin like:
Tooru Hagakure
She is in charge of game nights
If there’s a game they want to play they’ll have to talk to her first
She has all the games ready for next week, sometimes she asks Momo to make an extra copy of cards
If they play mafia and she’s the murderer she always wins, you could never tell if she was the murderer. She could be smiling and they would never know.
Watches all the chaos go down during Uno
Tenya Iida
Monopoly.. oh boy
Takes his money very seriously, he always wins no exceptions
If you land on his properties yes it’s plural you gotta pay right then and there
Run out of money?
Don’t ask Iida he can and will make you pay interest.
Supervises Uno he knows what that game does to people
Kyouka Jiro
Does that thing where you only move the controller in Just Dance and still manages to get 5 stars
She ain’t sorry in sorry
She could win Clue as the murderer if she just keeps her straight face the entire time
Jiro is not the one to mess with in Uno you plus two her, she will stack that hoe
She would totally have music playing in the background
Denki Kaminari
MARIO KART AND SMASHH
Does that thing where a blue shell is coming and you back up into 2nd place
They can’t beat him at those, with the exception of Sero and Kirishima they could beat him and Mario Kart if they tried a bit harder
Bakugo wipes the floor with him in smash
Totally asks Hagakure to put more plus 2’s and 4’s in the deck to watch the chaos unfold
He could never win clue as the murderer if you ask him the right questions he will get nervous avoid eye contact and start laughing
Could never win Monopoly he always gets in jail, he’s in there so much they just made him a little jail box
Eijirou Kirishima
Hypothetically speaking if you had a Wii he would be BOMB at the wii sports games
Y’all remember those?
If you play tennis with him your not making a point on him, it’s like he’s a different person
If you’re on his team... you’re exercising whether you like it or not
Casually throws blue shells at Kaminari
No one has the heart to plus 2 him in Uno
Bakugo did it once and everyone yelled at him
Kouji Koda
Like Asui he doesn’t like friendship destroying games
You could NEVER get him to play Just Dance, Twister, or that heads up game
Loves Monopoly! Until Bakugo needs money..y’all still lookin for those games pieces
Basically any game that is calm, and doesn’t require him to talk much he’s down for
Izuku Midoriya
I like to think he had little game nights with his mom therefore, he will most likely win.
Uno? He sits across from Bakugo he knows.
He asked Iida for money in monopoly and came in dead last.
He’s a pretty fast learner so he’s the only one who could keep up with Kirishima in Wii sports.
Blue shelled Kaminari and laughed
Because of him everyone knows why the game was called “Sorry”
They once played Jeopardy but with hero questions... He got all the points
Minoru Mineta
Oh honey oh honneyy
He’s banned from Twister.
He’s surprisingly pretty good at clue
Brings popcorn to Uno
Got plus 38 in Uno
He’s fun to be around if he behaves
Mashiroao Ojiro
HES TOO NICE
He will never plus 2 anyone, even if it’s his last card
If someone lands on his property in Monopoly he just apologizes to them
Says sorry in “sorry” like Izuku
He gets concerned for his classmates in uno
Shocks him how one card could ruin friendships
Rikidou Satou
Candy Land
Despite the way he’s built he’s good at Jenga
Never wins Twister he’s too big
Bakes snacks for game nights, lil muffinss, lil cupcakesss.. YES
He knows the power of the plus cards
Bribes everyone to stay calm with cake
Hanta Sero
MARIO KARTT
Him and Kirishima are usually neck and neck throwin red shells at each other
Taped Mineta to the wall when he was bein a perv
Pretty decent at Twister cause of his long legs
hides the get out of jail cards from Kaminari
He could win Uno without using plus cards, he just sits next to the right people
Mezou Shouji
Doesn’t really play that many games
He doesn’t participate in Just dance or Twister
Everyone had to teach him how to play certain games
He prefers to watch everyone play UNO and make sure Bakugo doesn’t explode the table
Could easily win clue, even though his mask hides his face it’s completely straight
Shouto Todoroki
Okay I know I said Shouji doesn’t play many games but this boy?
HE HAS NEVER PLAYED ANYYY
Every time someone suggests a game he’s like “what’s that?”
They had to teach him how to play EVERYTHING
One time Izuku needed 500 dollars in monopoly and this precocious baby wired him 500 monies..
Uno. They can’t do anything to him they would just feel so bad, with the exception of Bakugo of course he regrets nothing.
Lil bonus- He finally wins a game of uno and goes: “As Y/N would say: ‘Suck on that.’ “ He says it so calmly
Everyone is startin at him before you go “They grow up so fast”
They looked at you like:
Tumblr media
IM SO SORRY SKGKSH
Fumikage Tokoyami
Dark shadow...
He’s banned from UNO he’s a little cheater
But JENGA?
He’s the champ, dark shadow helps him find the best places so he usually wins
He’s also pretty good at battleships
Since dark shadow is his total opposite anything Tokoyami is not down for he’s gonna do
You’ll never catch him playing Just Dance. Ever.
Hagakure once thought it would be fun to play poker (no bets of course)... when I tell you Dark shadow PLAYED DIRTY
He would always win and since he and Tokoyami are attached they both won every round
Tokoyami is down to play Uno he thought it was a harmless card game.
Until he saw the raw power of the plus cards.
He never thought he’d see so much madness that was caused from one card
Dark shadow totally eats Mineta’s popcorn
Ochako Uraraka
I like to think her parents held little game nights to keep her mind off of the financial issue they were having
The best person to hang out with during games night hands down
Comes in second in monopoly she’s an expert on saving and spending money
Y’all remember when the had the little aurora thing goin on after her internship? Yeah that’s her in Uno
Don’t test her she’s locked and loaded
Will do Just Dance but she’s not as competitive as Aoyama and Mina
Loves playing “Life” she thinks it’s cute and simple
Momo Yaoyorozu
Helps Hagakure plan game nights
Makes extra Uno cards to shuffle plus 2’s and 4’s in the deck
Class 1A mom will not hesitate to break up a Uno fight
Loves the game “Life” even though Mina steals her money
Brings tea for Satou’s treats
She’s really good at battleships
Really good at clue she knows the right questions ask, and thier tells

Complete Butterfly Outline
Howdy friends.  The following is the complete chapter by chapter outline for Butterfly.  Now that the fic is finished and some people want to see it, I figured there was no harm in sharing.  Maybe this will help some of you better your own outline process.  Note that not everything that appears here made it into the fic, and some things that did don’t appear in this outline.  Some events are also in different order due to me changing my mind during the actual writing.  Feel free to ask me questions about those discrepancies or anything else.  Please enjoy!
Butterfly
The first over-night trip off campus since the training camp is supposed to be a break from anxiety.  But between concerns of history repeating itself, a major research project, and a bleak introduction to chaos theory, Izuku has too much on his mind to properly enjoy the fresh air.  But those worries are a light breeze compared to the thunderstorm that accompanies what he finds on the outskirts of town.  Or rather, what finds him.

21. All in All -izuku stays up late to call his dad -argue about timing -“sorry I didn’t call.  I wasn’t sure of your schedule in this mess and I didn’t want to bug you. “Sure” -mostly unaware of what’s happening, mom told them to talk -changes the subject to the Jakku seminar, tries to relate to quirk hurting him -thinks his dad only likes him for his quirk -“you can’t keep crying like this every time you’re stressed.  Youre sixteen, way to old to be crying like this.  You’re a hero.  Villains aren’t going to wait for you to get yourself together.” -“look, if you’re not gonna be invested in the conversation, maybe you should hang up, and we can talk later, ‘Kay?” -Skype call with Toga -managed to talk to it briefly, voice changer -the villain didn’t like her, in denial -said he would fix it -crusty and gross, waste of a healing factor -deku-kun is here, isn’t he? -tells jokes to distract from Dad -all might’s in specialty housing for tall quirks, modestly decorated with comic merch and newspapers -device to hide his life signs -fanart from Young Izuku on the fridge, bought the magnets just to put it up -old classmates posting about him online, he’s a cool hero -forum trolls, could probably take them -“I thought you were supposed to be discouraging me from picking fights with villain’s every other month.” “Oh hey look at that, you made a quip” -talk about feelings ⁃ is my rambling annoying, endearing -“it’s okay to still be upset, you know.  You don’t have to move on right away.” -year newspaper -butterfly returns to U.A., breaks window, noises, squeezes through naked -students pretend to sleep, half in costume -it passes over them

23. It Matters -later that night, all might offers dinner, goes to watch tv -izuku slinks out and eats with him on the couch -“think I don’t know how it feels?  To be stuck inside safe while the thing that hurt you is running free to do more harm?” -“I miss it sometimes, but I get to spend more time with you” “I’m not worth it.” -“if it hadn’t hurt me, I might not have met you.  Either my time limit didn’t force me to hear you out or I might not have come back to mustafu at all.” -back and forth about izuku’s worth, “are you trying to convince me to be happy or regretful” -“ok, lets try this: what do you hate about me?” -“I hate that you don’t trust me.”  “And you constantly treat me like a little kid!  Hate that too!”  “You are a kid!” -“I want you to tell me one thing you don’t like about me.  As a person.”  “Why?”  “If I have to be honest about how I feel so do you.  You only ever say nice things.  You act like there’s nothing wrong with me but there is.  If you don’t tell me, I’ll have to keep guessing.”  “...  back in the shelter, after the villain attack...  that was the only time I’ve ever heard you truly laugh.” “...  that’s it?” -“I, I’m not a fan of how you talk about that video of my debut.” “But, But It was a great rescue-“  “It was awful,” he snapped.  Midoriya recoiled.  Good.  “It was so awful.  Hundreds of people died.  Most of the people I pulled to safety didn’t pull through.  I hear them screaming still in my dreams.  I hated every second of that night.  And I hate that you love it.”   -“That shot one shot, the one people plaster everywhere, of me coming over the ridge carrying a dozen people?  Half of them were already dead.” -“How did you even see that anyway?”  “Mom said the news was running a special for the twenty-five year anniversary...  I watched it with my dad...”  “and you would have been what?  Two, three?” -talk about debut -tells him about Nana and his childhood -hid from villain’s like this “I loved her like my mother.” “Did she love you as a son.” -“it doesn’t matter.” It does. -talks about how izuku is great -never initiated a hug before, what else could he do besides pull him closer? -“I hate yelling at you.  You’ve had too much of that in your life.  I just want you to be happy.” -“and I’m going to keep you here until you realize how much you matter” -caught between child and adult, wonder what he’d be like had he never influenced him -will the scars on his arm grow with him? -he wanted to just keep holding him, to make up for all the times he should have but didn’t. -carries him to bed -“I can walk.” “I want to carry you.” -he’s going to be okay.  He’ll grow up.  Conquer the world with his smile.  Be the unshakable pillar the world needs, all Might had no doubt.  But not tonight.  Someday, but not tonight.  Tonight, he is a small terrified child, separated from his family, and on the run from an unknown horror.  Tonight, he deserves a moment to be scared and sad, and be comforted. -life sign hider gone -prays he stays just this small forever -he’s like a son to him -he stays for a while after he falls asleep, just to be sure
24. The Other One -all might dreams of his death at the hands of all for one/wolfram -wakes up to alarm, needs to eat -izuku inspired him to keep living, gets up to check on him -remembers the dream theory, goes to check his fridge -closes it, butterfly is right there -smells him before he sees him -running down a list of ways to get a hit in, major blood vessel in the temple -“Hello” silence, “are you all might?” Ask about fighting the ‘same’ villain Beat him with the help of his student Butterfly gets angry, the other one -“he’s almost shocked to here a human voice come out of it...  a young voice.” Other what -comes into the light, more scar than skin -talks him down, reaches out to touch him -doesnt believe -same shoes, faded and frayed and falling apart, but the same -never one to talk down hostage/suicide -says his name -butterfly stunned, cries at the kind touch -hug -same eyes -he’s izuku again

I want to add to this real quick because I just dug up my original notes I wrote at 2 am last summer when I first thought of this fic and it reminded me of some stuff. The world of My Hero Academia is set up in such a way that whatever bullshit power you can think of will probably fit.  A lot of superhero universes have that, but something about MHA makes it so much more pronounced.  Combine that with the idea of All for One, a quirk that lets the user wield an unknown number of powers, and there is some serious potential to absolutely abuse the setting. The idea was to create a lone villain that could perfectly counter everything thrown at it, to the point where it feels like a supernatural monster.  Security?  Quirk that prevents cameras and sensors from recording its image.  Evidence?  Quirk that rewinds time on displaced objects.  Witnesses?  Quirk that prevents people who are already asleep from waking up.
25. Butterfly: Origin -“as hard as he tried throughout his life, Toshinori knew he could never be Superman.” -“He wants to hurt your boy/ but he is my boy” -all might feeds him, too thin, still heavy -talks him into taking a bath while he makes him a warm meal -Texts his izuku to be silent and contact Naomasa -stolen possessions with his clothes, folding quirk, , flattening, sticker quirk -cries at the red shoes -butterfly comes back out, reveals wings -all might makes him a cutout shirt and sling for vestigial wings -its a cold night, hairdryer, hopefully izuku sees the opportunity -“he’s so gentle.  The boys arms are thinner than his.  It’s wrong.  He feels like any pressure greater than a brush will shatter bones.  He could break his fingers with a pinch.  But maybe he should.  This is a villain.  It tried to kill my boy.  But he is my boy.” -“did you ever fly?” “Once” -“it’s okay, you didn’t know.” -getting scolded for hurting himself is universal -so is being a chatterbox -considers Christmas present in the closet -tells him to lay down on the couch and watch tv -butterfly asks about one for all, consent -admits to killing Mirio -all might asks about all for one, vague backstory -noticed something was wrong after usj -“he said there was a time where there wasn’t a single child in Japan born without his permission.” “It was a mercy killing at that point.” -more time in a day, imprisoned for seemingly twice as long -drawn to yakku by picture of lodge that looks like apartments -“I heard someone say my name” -lie, offered to trade quirk, got in a drunken fight -has both parents quirks, implied to have killed Dad -wanted to scare his izuku into going home, no one was there, took it out -has mom’s quirk, “someone else lives there now.” -tried to find mom, “once he’s gone, I can be with mom.” -“I’m only hurting me. I’m not worth it -inter-dimensional quirk, -Inching closer to all might -you didn’t say that, the other you did -all might confronts him on his crimes, defense is that they started it -“you’re not right” -puts head in all might’s lap and moves his hand to his head -found izuku, jealous of his life, not sure what to do -realizes that izuku has one for all -“WHY” -describes the sludge villain incident -compare outcomes -butterfly gets upset, prepares to strike -all might says sorry

All might daughter part 6 Today was the day of the festival. This was my chance to prove not only to the world but to myself that I am a hero.
I went down stairs getting ready to go . I wanted to get there extra early. Then my dad stopped me.
" Y/n, everyone will be looking at you. Even know I want Izuku to win. You will always come first and I know you can take first place." He said smiling.
" thank you dad, for everything" I said
"Now go kick some ass" he shouted. I laugh and then headed out the door.
I walk outside my gate with my body guard not to far behind me . I see todoroki standing there.
   " hey todo" I waved.
"Y/n I wanted to wish you luck . I hope you finish in second place" he smiled .
" Thanks but I'll be finishing in first" I said. Making eye contact with him.
" I'm going to be bringing my all"
" so will I" I said . Walking a little faster but he kept up.
We were by the lockers room he stoped me before I went in.  He gave me a small box. I open it to
See a  a heart  shaped pendant. It had some crystal in the middle , with a glow to it. The sliver looked real and it was very beautiful.
" It's for good luck and thank you for being my friend. I didn't have any before you because I'm not good at talking to people. Talking to though, seems so easy" he said .
" It's beautiful todo . You didn't have to do this. Being your friend is enough. I love talking to you to"

I hand him the necklace and I turn around . He put the necklace on me and his fingers made me shiver. I turn around to find my self inches apart from him.

I found my self starting to lean in. He felt so warm. he smell like the cold artic wind and a campfire all at once. He close his eyes and moved his hands on to my waist.
We broke apart akwardly when we heard Bakugou lound ass.
" What the fuck is this" he fumed. Look at me and todoroki. I could feel my face getting red. Were me and todoroki about to kiss. I wouldn't mind if we did now that I think about it. Maybe I read it wrong . I cant think about this right now .
" I don't know but I have to go get ready" I said not making eye contact with either of them.
Bakugou Pov
They were so fucking close to kissing it was disgusting. I'm going to kill that icy hot and then I'm going to get the girl. I storm into the locker room and found that half bastard. "Stay the fuck away from her" I screamed. I didn't give a fuck that I was causing a scene. She was mine and mine alone. I actual was going to give her before I saw them two .
" Its not up to you or me. Its up to her and after this over I'm asking her out" He said calmly . " That necklace she has on its from me. I'm rich and I'm powerful. Most importantly I'm kind to her. Your unstable and abusive you don't deserve her. "
My blood was boiling. who does he think he is. I'm more powerful and she doesn't need his money. I'm not weak like him. FUCK HIM. I blast at him and it scratch the tip of his ear. " I will be her choice in the end and next time I wont miss"
I got outside there was kids from every class . I found y/n chatting excitedly with momo. She had his necklace around her neck . I'm not sure how I didn't notice it before but I don't like it.
Your POV
The first event was nearly a 4km race around the stadium . I started running not daring to look behind me . I was greeted with a big robot todo froze it off balance. that's smart actually. he pass through and it almost falls on two students. I teleport it to somewhere else for a split second and then I pass through. I teleported the robot in front of the kids behind me blocking there path.
Izuku and Bakagou was right behind me and todoroki was in front. The next part of the obstacle was a canyon that had be trekked using ropes. Bakugou blast through ahead of todo and then I teleported to the other side.
next was the land mine me and Bakugou were blasting our way through the obstacle I pass shouto and I was neck and neck with Bakugou. Next thing I new Izuku came flying through on a broken piece of the robot. Taking first place and the race
" stupid deku" Bakuguo yelled. Izuku was in the lead I'm honestly so happy for him right now. we finished I was in third. Izuku finished first.
"Good job izuku I knew you could do it" I ran up to him and gave him a hug .
"Thank you Y/n " next thing I knew Uraraka push me out of the way. She wrapped her arms around him tight. There sooo cute and they way his face turns bright red.
Midnight announces next there will be a Calvary battle. She stated that the top 42 students were to advance to the second round. In this event there will be teams of 2-4 . players can earn points by grabbing head bands.
" The worth of the head band of the player will depend on what they place in the last round. Except for first place there head band is worth 10 million points ." Midnight said.
I saw izuku face froze in horror . I starting walking up to him until an ash brown stopped me. " Your on my team don't you even think about it" Bakugou grabbed my shoulders.
" Cant izuku join our team" I asked. He was like my little brother and I felt like it was my responsibility to watch out for him.
" No way in hell" He such an ass wipe sometimes. Instead mineta and Eijiro join our team.
The battle started Bakugou started heading after Izuku and we followed. Then his handband got stolen by neito.
" It must be sad to be the villain victim every year" Neito says. Oh shit bakugou was about to throw a fit.
" Plans have been change were fighting neito first" He yelled enraged.
Wanting to defeat Team Monoma completely, Katsuki orders his team to attack; having Hanta use his tape and Mina using her dissolving fluid. Team Bakugo rides on Mina's fluid using Hanta's tape to reel them faster, catching Team Monoma off guard. Katsuki and Neito clash but Katsuki's ambition to become number one gives him the strength to defeat Neito and takes the rest of his headbands. Katsuki immediately decides to go after Izuku and Shoto.
It was the last minutes of the battle I didn't feel like I was doing much except for levitating bakugou up. Team Midoriya and Team Todoroki have a final clash. Izuku uses One For All to create wind pressure which knocks away Shoto's blazing left arm. Shoto is shocked when he realizes he is using his fire power. Izuku grabs a headband thinking that it is the 10 million point headband and takes it from the shocked Shoto. After putting some distance between them, Izuku checks the headband but is surprised that it's a seventy-point headband. For the last ten seconds, Team Midoriya and Team Todoroki charge, preparing to clash again as are Team arrives but are too late to join the battle as the Cavalry Battle ends.
Team Todoroki places first, are team places second, Team Shinso places third and Izuku team places fourth. As we were waiting for the tournament to start I went to go look for a snap . I turn a corner to see bakugou trying to concentrate on something.
" Hey what-" I was cut off when he grabbed me and put his hand over my mouth.
"Shhh listen" he whispers. My face redden when I realize I could feel him against me. he push me away abruptly.
" My father strives to be almight and made sure I was even more powerful then him" I heard todoroki explain . More powerful then my dad?
" I understand why you want to win but just know ill be trying my best too" he declared.
" Very well but if you have any connections to the number one hero . Even more reason for more to take you down. Y/n she my friend but she going down too." he said. Damn I didn't know it ran this deep for him. "Speaking of Y/n you two are close right?" he asked
" Umm yes she practically my sister" he said in confusion.
" What are my chances with her, I'm going to ask her to be my girlfriend" he said. My heart stopped for a second . I felt my face go red. Yes todoroki your chances are high. I felt a heat next to me Bakugou had two balls of explosions ready to go. His face was kind of unsettling. Why is he so pissed off.

Many people claim second is either time traveling Bakugou or like fore father or smth because... Well look at him. Whats your take on it?
The worst thing about Tumblr is that the search blog function is so non existent that I can't even be sure you didn't try to see my opinion about this before asking, so I can't even blame you, but... Well:
This was my reaction to people continuing to suggest Bakugo was Second after we learned Yoichi's name
This was my reaction to a "reincarnated second" Bakugo ask
This was me making fun of the time travel theory by explaining that Ponytail Uraraka could actually be Third
And this was a post where I mentioned that I'm basically neutral on Bakugo as a whole because I really like some of his arc and his interactions, especially the remedial course arc, but that I really don't like him involved with the OfA plot line and feel it detracts from both he and Izuku
Ok. Let's go deeper then, and hopefully make this the last post I have to make on this subject.
tldr of the read more: I don't like Second as Bakugo and I actually think that the chances of Second as Bakugo's ancestor went down after the events of this week's chapter
So, I did see a lot of bak-u-go and I finally put my finger on why I hated it so much, (BESIDES the fact that I just do not think Horikoshi has done the set up for time travel in general or Bakugo in particular. Look, izuku should have told us already if Second was Bakugo. It just doesn't make sense for him to be, functionally) and instead of posting it on tumblr and dealing with people actually, like, seeing and reacting to it I just told two friends why I didn't like it thematically in a group chat. The text of my message is pasted bellow:
"So, like, even if Bakugo grows up and yeets back in time and somehow izuku doesn't recognize him with a little face scar which seems VERY UNLIKELY to me EVEN IF, then it COMPELETELY makes First's supposition pointless
the thing WASNT "second extended a hand to someone connected to and hurt by afo and freed first even tho he was nemisis, which is why izuku should extend a hand to tomura"
INSTEAD it was "Baku2 extended a hand to first because he ALREADY KNEW afo's brother was a hero and it would help all might and co and there was ABSOLUTELY NO FAITH, NO GOODWILL, NO OPTIMISTIC COMPASSION involved because baku2 KNEW what would happen and wasn't even really making a CHOICE so much as following the plan"
ahem. anyway thematically it is bad As Well as being functionally bad
is,,, bad theory,,,, i have nine very good Seconds, why would i want no Second and just dealing with bakugo more,,,
So yeah, that's my take on Baku2- it replaces the potential actual character of Second (who is someone I love exploring in many different ways) with a character we already have. And I don't hate the character, but when I'm thinking about OfA Stuff? I don't want him there! I just can't bring myself to care about Bakugo as Second. If I want to have fun with Bakugo, and I sometimes do, I have him go train and develope menteeship with Nejire. I give him some Dadzawa. I have him develop friendships and better himself with the remedial team. Getting rid of a character I like to cast Bakugo in Second's place? The least fun thing I can think of! I just don't want to do it. Have fun, write it yourself, and tag it properly so that I don't have to see it.
Ok. You also mentioned Bakugo as Second's descendent. Honestly, it's possible, but I think it's less likely now. Second has spikey hair but it looks just as much like Dabi's as it does Bakugo's. It's just how Hori draws spikey hair. They don't even have the same style, since Second has an undercut and his hair is shaded darker than Bakugo's. I also don't think that Second is going to have an explosive quirk, because Third just got one! Third's Fa Jin quirk "builds up kinetic energy and use that energy to release an explosive burst of power."
What would be the point of Izuku getting an explosion quirk from Second? It wouldn't make sense with the actual quirk lineage Bakugo has from his parents if they were trying to go that route, and frankly it's just like the Baku2 Problem: I already know how Explosion works! It's not interesting to me! I don't want to miss out on a new fun quirk just to see one I already know again.
I want Second to have a mental quirk, that's my first pick. A lighting quirk would be fine too since I really wanted Sixth to have one but then he got a stealth one so I guess I don't need Second to have a stealth quirk anymore. *Glances at Vaneer.*
Anyway so maybe Third with spikey hair that actually matches Bakugo's color is his ancestor. Maybe Second is. They both have the build of their costumes in a way that reminds of Bakugo's summer and winter hero costumes. Maybe neither of them are. I don't really care that much, because... I don't think Second likes Bakugo. I don't think he liked him at the start, and I don't think he likes him now. I'll quote a friend who actually brought this topic up before I could, and whom I agree with:
Friend: Someone asked me "Okay but what about Second being Bakugou's ancestor?" So, I had to refrain from answering "Well, if you want, but Second would probably be disgusted by Bakugou. He is a guy who sacrificed everything so some asshole with a strong quirk wouldn't do whatever he wants. What do you think he would think of Bakugou?"
Me: you're stronger than me i would have answered that and then gotten a dozen angry messages back like 'uhhhh but but hes CHANGED now if second can 'forgive' a toothpick of a man who never actually did anything to hurt him and was only considered a target because of a relative, aka bc of his genetics, then surely he'd forgive bakugo for uh activlely harming izuku bc of his genetics and openly mocking the past holder's pain, fight, and strength in a meeting he acted too good for!'
So I don't think Second would like Bakugo for those reasons, but also another one- he's naïve. Second didn't like Izuku trying to "save to win" Shigaraki, he thought it was foolish. I don't think he'd like Bakugo's "fight to win" focus either, because to him it wasn't "fight to win." It was "fight to survive" and I don't think that for a single moment he thought he'd 'win' because he was 'a hero' and 'heroes always win and villains always lose and that's why I want to be a hero.' there's a reason he didn't want Bakugo to keep OfA either, and it wasn't just because of a very circumstantial theory some vestiges have based off a sample size of two with absolutely no way to check other variables said that maybe it would kill a holder if they had another quirk.
Has Bakugo grown since those views? Sure. Do I think he's still naïve? Yeah. Do I think Second would see that growth of his, or even care? No. I don't.
I don't think Second hates Bakugo. I just don't think he likes him either. His opinion, I think, probably is similar to my own: "he's a kid who can really grow and be great... And I just don't want him anywhere near OfA buisness."

BNHA AU Ideas: Songbird, Part 2
Also on AO3!
Link to Part 1
TL;DR:
Izuku has a powerful quirk: he can give powers to the people around him based on the different songs he sings. Unfortunately, everyone else really wants that quirk and are willing to kidnap him to get it.
Songbirds sing even when the music stops.
Hello I’m redefining Izuku’s quirk for the sake of more dramatic powers: Most songs are general power-ups (everyone in auditory range), others are personal power-ups (only the person singing). Both only affect those who hear them, unless the effect is 100% intrinsic. Izuku uses a lot of general power-ups because he’s helpful like that. Each song can only be used once per day.
Examples: A song that creates a forcefield will only be a barrier to those who hear it, but a strength increase is a strength increase no matter which way you slice it.
anyway! day 1 of class is ok bc izuku and bakugo head to school together, and its honestly a miracle he didn't get kidnapped again
anyway, he meets iida and is fucking floored when he apologises for yelling at him. uraraka calls him the "boy with the singing quirk" and hes pretty happy. bakugo is grudgingly pleased izuku has friends and sits down, izuku following suit. shinsou is half asleep at his desk and seems to have been there the whole time
aizawa does his little spiel, quirk assessment happens yadda-yadda. izuku looks so chill on the outside but the kid is freaking the fuck out internally
he's coming second in the test, aizawa still erases his quirk, more of an example to the class because he assumed izuku wouldnt lose his shit. he didn't - at least externally
from this we also find out izuku has a kind of internal metronome because he suddenly has no internal 'beat' when his quirk is erased. his hearing gets substantially worse too.
which serves to freak him the fuck out because he feels off balance and like hes had cotton stuffed in his ears
anyway, yeets the ball, all is good, bakugo glares fucking daggers at aizawa for singling out izuku and izuku tries not to dissociate
battle trial is nothing special, but bakugo just fucking,,, turns his hearing aids off so izukus quirk doesnt work on him
its a blessing and a curse because it leaves izuku free to use most personal powerups, but honestly bakugo wants a nice fight more than he wants to win so thats fine with him
izuku wins, but only just, izuku gives uraraka a speed up through the comm link, iida who was Not ready for that, loses
USJ
Bakugo and Izuku sing Stronger than You and kick ass for a solid while before the song runs out and the nomu hits them into the lake. Izuku, with a broken leg and the beginnings of a concussion, has to drag a semi-conscious Bakugo to shore and let me tell you they both almost drown like 8 times. Izuku helps All Might by singing Anything (Hedly), which functions honestly like a big Ol’ Plus Ultra to anyone believing in what they are doing. (It starts working on Shigiraki after the Stain arc, but before then he was acting without purpose)
Sports festival!
All Might and Izuku are basically dad and son in this universe too, so, despite the dissimilar quirks, Todoroki still calls out Izuku to fight. Because Todoroki is the son of Endeavour and privy to a little more heroics insider info than he really should be, he also knows how often Izuku deals with villains. In an attempt to piss off the eternally nice and collected boy enough to give him a fight he can piss off Endeavour with, he calls him a damsel in distress.
Izuku is fuming and Bakugo has to basically hold onto his forearm to stop him from clocking Todoroki right in the jaw, but lord is Bakugo also pissed. Todoroki, for a second, realises he may have fucked up.
Todoroki wins the first event, Izuku is pretty middling. Like he's top 10? But he didn’t make a major impact. But the guy sees Monoma and gets an Idea
“HI SO – I know you hate class 1A, and really there is something to be said for the way our school is trying to pit 2 classes of children against each other like a bitter blood feud - BUT I have an idea that could be 100% ridiculous and if you want 1B to make an impact, please work with me. I need to shove something in Todoroki’s face.”
“… I’m listening.”
The general idea is Izuku’s songs have a different effect when sung in a duet, some are only practical in duet form: IE, stronger than you is a dodge boost alone, but in a duet is a massive power boost to the two singing it. So what if two people with Izuku’s quirk sung a duet? Chaos, probably.
Monoma agrees because one of the only things he likes more than 1 upping 1A is quirk based tomfoolery. The team ends up consisting of Izuku, Monoma, Kendo and Uraraka. Kendo and Uraraka, with the use of Uraraka’s quirk, carry both Izuku and Monoma – the better you sing, the better the quirk works.
Its lucky Monoma knows most of the songs Izuku brings up as ideas, and adds some suggestions of his own. If the other two know the song it's not a bad idea to join in, but its not the end of the world if they don’t.
The list of songs they have on standby and their effect when sung by two people with the Songbird Quirk
Two Player Game - Be More Chill: It forms both a connection between the people singing it, allowing them to anticipate the other's movements and creates a semi-translucent double of each singer that mimics their movements with a half second delay, aka: each punch you throw hits twice.
Family – Mother Mother: Creates a kinda forcefield that hovers just above the body. The stronger the bond between the singers, the stronger the shield – good thing Uraraka and Kendo know that one.
Hurry Hurry – Airtraffic Controllers: Slows down your perception of time, giving the appearance of superhuman reflexes. With the addition of a partner, it also grants superspeed.
We don’t get tired, we get even – Pat the Bunny: The more energy you’ve used up, the more energy you get back when singing this song + a proportional increase in general ability.
Doubt Comes In – Hadestown: Anyone who hears it quickly loses the ability to fight other people, including the singers.
The Greatest Show – The Greatest Showman: In addition to the normal effect of drawing attention to the point you can’t look away, singers get a ‘moon jump’ ability.
Turn the Lights Off – Tally Hall: Makes the area pitch black and gives the singers monstrous forms with plenty of claws and eyes.
How they use these is up to your imagination, but they end having taken the 10’000’000 point band from Todoroki. Bakugo, the only person with a decent understanding of Izuku’s quirk, just turned off his hearing aids and told his team to block their ears when weird shit started to happen. They came second, Todoroki third and Shinsou’s team fourth.
Uraraka gets to the second round bc Bakugo fights Monoma in the first round and jesus that fight is hilarious because its just Monoma – while using Bakugo’s quirk too – insisting that Izuku has abandoned class 1A for class 1B and Bakugo getting progressively more done with this boy’s shit.
Izuku and Bakugo + Todoroki and Iida are the semi finalists. Izuku and Bakugo are mostly just like “Thank fuck I’ve been talking to so many god damn weirdos today please can we just have a normal fight”. Izuku wins, j u u s t. (Izuku and Bakugo have a pretty 50/50 win loss ratio going on in this AU)
Todoroki vs Izuku is the final round of the whole thing, Todoroki told him about Endeavour, Izuku is pissed that no one looks at him and sees him, they only see his quirk (other than like, 6 people at this point). So he gets where Todoroki is coming from but holy shit hes doing literally just that. The main song Izuku uses for that round is Escapism – Steven Universe which makes him intangible (other than like his feet so he doesn’t go through the floor like Mirio). He’s trying to get the vibe across to Todoroki that he is free of his blood. He stops singing just to scream that at him, which is really what loses him the round. He's not intangible anymore, so he has no way to dodge the fire that comes at him. But he's pretty happy anyway.
Stain Arc!
Izuku’s hero name is Lyre!
Izuku doesn’t intern with Gran, but he does visit the guy with him. All Might hasn’t given his quirk to anyone else because the only suitable person he can see is Izuku, but Izuku basically can’t say no to him so he’s having a crisis. Izuku just thinks he’s there to visit All Mights old mentor and shoot the shit, which is really what they do.
Gran basically just ends up telling him “Kid aint a wallflower, he’ll tell you to fuck off if he doesn’t want it. All Might decides to ask Izuku about it after everything is over.
Izuku ends up interning with Endeavour, along with Todoroki. He never ended up yelling at endeavour, even though he hates the guy. Shouto encouraged him to take the offer bc, 1, Endeavour literally never gives out internship offers and 2, it’d be more fun because that way he doesn’t need to deal with his dad’s bullshit alone.
Endeavour is like “Oh it’s the kidnap kid, your quirk is neat.” And izuku is smiling through gritted teeth like “Th Anks SiRr”
So, starts pretty normal, then the winged Nomu steals Izuku right off the ground. Izuku just says “I’ll be fine! Just keep doing what you're doing, I’ll get myself down.” Endeavour just shrugs like “Ok, I give you permission to defend yourself.” While Todoroki is screaming internally because his new friend is literally being flown away
So the Nomu that was once a really good friend of Izuku’s (not that izuku is aware of that) literally just dumps him somewhere else and leaves. Izuku is confused, really confused, so he starts walking his way back to where he was before he hears a familiar voice.
Guess who it’s Iida, with a serial killer standing right over him. Izuku panics and goes straight into Turn the Lights Off. Without Monoma it only makes it dark, but it’ll have to do.
Thing is: he has a key problem. By virtue of the fact he’s singing, Stain can always hear him. Izuku’s only advantage is that he can see Stain but stain can’t see him, and the darkness means Stain moves more cautiously.
Anyway, in the artificial darkness, he can send a longer text anyway.
Midoriya [7:31PM] stain – [Location Pin Dropped]
So a lot of people, All Might and Aizawa included, f r e a k o u t. Todoroki goes running, Endeavour sends sidekicks with him because he saw his son, normally deadpan, almost chocking on panic as he mutters “Midoriya found Stain.”
Endeavour very much wants to also get Stain but the Nomu are Very Pressing Right Now, so there isn’t much he can do other than try and hurry the fuck up. Torino is kicking around because he could mostly, trying to get a glimpse of All Might’s kid in action, ends up having to kick villain ass. He's not that concerned until he remembers “OH SHIT TOSHI’S BOY”. When he finds Endeavour the man, a little panicked for Endeavour’s standards, yells at him to go to the address bc his son and intern are fighting the fucking hero killer.
Gran Doesn’t think he’s moved so fast since he kicked All for One in the face with Nana 25 odd years ago.
So Stain is kinda pissed bc suddenly he can’t see and someone is singing. He goes to stab Iida but,,, he ain't there anymore, and the singing is fading away. He figures “oh well, lemme get native” the singing changes to a different song. Very quickly he can see, but the singing boy, still singing is rocketing towards him and rapidly changing form.
Monster – dodie: Literally shifts Izuku into a monster. Stain suddenly realises that this is Songbird, talk of the underground, most wanted quirk by villains and quirk traffickers everywhere. This kid, target of villains everywhere, has put himself in their sights just to try and help people.
He thinks maybe Songbird might be one of the good ones.
Oh, an aside? People calling him Songbird sets off hella panic attacks because the only people who do that are people actively trying to kidnap him. And that’s what stain is calling him.
His monster form wavers and he tries to sing through tears and hitching breaths and Stain smiles because he's still curled around Native with his claws out.
Todoroki gets there first and helps defend Iida, Izuku is fighting to keep stain away from Native. The pros are on the way, Izuku is fading fast. Endeavour has been training them hard so he's exhausted and freaking the fuck out, while someone waves swords in his face.
Stain gets him, he loses the monster form. This doesn’t help Izuku’s panic, because now he can’t move and he’s felt this before along with grabbing hands, and dark vans and ropes around his wrists praying someone knew where he was going so someone might know to come for him when he doesn’t get home.
Todoroki sees that and he doesn’t know what to do. Izuku is panicking – the boy who seemed so put together and on top of things s falling apart at the seams. Iida feels horrible. He just wants to go to his friend he's never seen that distraught before.
Todoroki does the only thing he can think of. He sings.
He was never into music before, be after the sports festival he learnt Escapism -the song Izuku sang to him – and singing it back to him is the only thing he can think of doing.
It helps. It really helps, because if there was one thing that never happened when Izuku was taken – it was singing. He calms down just enough to breathe, which is all he needs to do.
The quirk wears off and Izuku throws himself at Stain, the words to Thunder by Imagine Dragons already pouring from his lips and electricity pouring from himself. If Stain touches him, he's toast, even if its via a sword. Izuku just has to avoid thrown weapons.
Izuku gets a hit, the quirk wears off Iida, who rushes in to stop Izuku from taking a throwing knife to the arm. The three of them knock out Stain just as the heroes skid into the alley. Izuku lets out a sob and crumples to the ground, Iida and Todoroki rushing over to him. They both honestly look like they’d bite anyone who got too close. Gran calls All Might who starts hightailing his way over there – Aizawa is also breaking a few traffic laws to reach his pack of injured kids.
They don’t get there in time. Shirigaki, furious that the hero killer went against him, orders Kurogiri to get Izuku. They take Iida and Todoroki for good measure. The heroes watch in horror as the children they were meant to protect vanish under their noses.
Headlines the next day: “UA sports festival finalists defeat Hero Killer – only to be taken by Villains seconds later.”

How Izuku Learned to Stop Worrying and Enjoy Being in Love (IzuOcha Oneshot)
Summary: Izuku Midoriya is struggling in his newfound romance with Uraraka. He continues to stumble when he is with her as nerves get the best of him. He wonders how he can get better at love but the answers he's searching for are closer to his heart than he thinks.
Izuku Midoriya considered himself a man of many failings.
As he idly scrawled in a small pink notebook before class, he could not help but reflect on those inadequacies. He was not always as strong as he needed to be. He still struggled in a lot of social situations. He could lose control of himself when it came to his hero obsession.
But more than any of those, he hated that he had no idea how to be a good boyfriend.
It was not for a lack of trying. He had dedicated a lot of time studying the subject, dedicating the whole pink notebook to it. Every piece of advice that far too many people had bestowed upon him was carefully recorded, from strategic romantic lines to subtle romantic movements. It was all in the vain hope he could decipher the bizarre machinations - and palpitations - of his own heart.
And much more importantly, Uraraka's.
Izuku had few troubles facing down villains with lives on the line. But facing down the greatest woman he had ever met to woo her on a semi-regular basis was proving to be far more challenging than your average ne'er-do-well.
"Heya, Deku. Whatchya working on?"
"NOTHING, NOTHING DON'T LOOK!" the boy screeched as he leapt upward to stare into the person of his affections. Uraraka hovered over his desk, eyes left blinking at his sudden outburst.
His face burned; he would sooner face Todorki's flames than this kind of heat.
"Oh, okay then. That's fine," Uraraka replied with a tight-lipped smile, completely inscrutable.
"It's just...it's something particular and really rough and kind of private I'm sorry it's not you it's me and I really want to-"
"Good morning class. To your seats," Mr. Aizawa ordered loudly as he grumpily entered their homeroom. The students quickly acquiesced, Uraraka included, as she moved to take her desk near the back of Class 3-A.
"Talk after class," she whispered as she turned her back to him.
Izuku breathed a deep sigh, resisting the temptation to leap out of the room.
Boyfriend. Girlfriend. The words still felt strange bouncing around in his head. The past few weeks had been chaotic. Having Uraraka ask him out. Having an awkward but wondrous first date. Having a first, terrifying, glorious, first kiss. Carefully exchanging their first utterances of "I love you." Riding out the highs and lows of a hormone-driven storm, as young lovers did.
Neither of them had much experience but they worked it out, mostly.
But as fall gave way to the start of winter, the fires of their newfound romance were quickly extinguished under an avalanche of schoolwork and their own nerves. Their easygoing friendship of two years was now fraught with this new element hanging ominously over everything. It seemed their every interaction somehow ended up the same - him blurting out something stupid, or something else going terribly wrong before they both retreated to safer spaces.
He did not regret dating Uraraka - something he had not realized he really, really wanted. But it made everything between them a lot more difficult to manage.
They were burning, passionate people. They cared about one another. But so often, figuring out their relationship under the scope of romantic social conventions made their interactions more glacial than they had been in a long time.
A part of him longed for the more easygoing days. Surely, they could get back to that. Love should not be this hard - or frightening.
"Midoriya?"
Izuku snapped upwards to attention at his teacher's question. He stared straight ahead at Aizawa's unimpressed grimace. He must have zoned out harder than he thought.
He could hear a few giggles buzzing around his ears.
"Sorry, what was that?" Izuku asked quickly, hoping he could wing whatever response was necessary.
Aizawa gave him a tired sigh. "Keep your head out of the clouds and pay attention."
"Right, sorry sir!"
The giggles turned into full-blown laughter at his uncharacteristic spaciness. Izuku blushed deeply, thoroughly humiliated. He relished the chance to plunge his mind into class, something troubled heart.
He leaned on keeping his thoughts preoccupied the entire day, pointedly limiting his interactions with Uraraka until class let out. It was easy enough; their third-year schoolwork was no small task and necessitated the focus.
But the end of the day did arrive and with it came Uraraka marching over to his desk. Much as it was never an unpleasant sight - her lively gait was always a pleasure to watch - he had mixed feelings about the romantic maneuvering their talks now required.
"You seem really out of it today. Something the matter?" she asked, voice light but full of sincere concern. She was always looking out for him; he wished he could pay her back for that, somehow.
Despite bracing himself for conversation, he found himself wholly unprepared for the question. "Oh, uh, yeah, I'm fine. Just a little tired I guess?"
Uraraka gazed intently at him, her usual bright smile absent from her face. She did not appear too convinced by him but mercifully let it slide. "Well, I can understand that. But I was wondering…" she trailed off, her eyes suddenly falling to the ground. "Maybe...we could study together later?"
He could see the rosier complexion on her face, something his surely matched. Once, that question would have been simple. A casual night between two friends. Now, the idea carried a lot more baggage - but a lot more promise, too. The promise of the things teenagers in love did.
How could he refuse?
"Sure!" Izuku replied, a little too loudly. He took a breath to try and steady himself, even as his shirt suddenly felt like it was choking him. "You could stop by my room...maybe around seven?"
Uraraka nodded with more vibrancy than he might have expected. "Alright, sounds good! See you later!"
Izuku watched as she rushed out of the room, clearly as eager to end the awkward exchange as much as he was.
"You two make me sick," Bakugo grumbled as he walked by Izuku's desk.
Izuku scrambled on instinct, readying himself for any further barbs. Most of their class was all-too-happy to see him and Uraraka get together after years of pining, but Bakugo had made no secret of his disgust for it.
"You need to get your head out of your ass," Bakugo murmured before walking angrily out of class.
Izuku breathed a sigh of relief, glad nothing worse came of it. Their relationship had cooled over the years, but he could never be certain about what might set the explosive boy off.
"How uncouth," Iida said from behind him. Izuku jumped slightly, startled. How had he missed his friend approaching? "Well, forget him. The pair of you seem to be getting along alright. Though admittedly, I'm not the most knowledgeable about this kind of thing."
Izuku stood up, relieved to get back to his dorms in search of respite. "Neither am I, to be honest."
"Well, I suppose experience is the best teacher," Iida mused as the two ventured out of class together. "But you two have been practically inseparable since we first got to U.A. You've always been there for one another and I have no doubt you'll work through your current tension."
"That obvious, huh?" Izuku replied, sighing. He did not fault Iida, but he could very much do without the rest of their class tirelessly watching their relationship.
But there was something to Iida's perspective. They had been in lockstep since before they even entered the building. The many times they teamed up and drove one another - the jitters of the heart were there, but it still felt so natural. Simple. He would forever look back at those days of friendship fondly.
Surely, that was a foundation for a relationship to last. He had jotted that down in his notebook, anyway.
"Pardon me, I don't mean to pry or anything. You two just stand out. And I do care about your well-being, after all." Iida bowed his head slightly in apology, formal as always. It was good to have a constant pillar like Iida. Unlike some things, their friendship had remained a steady constant.
"Don't worry about it," Izuku replied, laughing for the first time all day.
Izuku eventually arrived back at his room, gleefully getting into a comfier T-shirt and shorts. He jumped into his bed and breathed, basking in its softness. It was good to find peace after a difficult day.
With the distraction of school gone, his thoughts turned back to Uraraka, his heart skipping as her adorable face sprang back to his mind. He idly began to tidy up his room to prepare for their study session.
He had seen his fair share of depictions of love in the media, which often made it seem like the greatest joy imaginable. Which he had felt, certainly. But now, he couldn't help but think media undersold the anxiety, the nerves and the work it all involved.
Even in the act of cleaning his room, he found himself second-guessing himself. Should he put away more of his All Might figurines? Have a scented candle to provide a better atmosphere? Was now even the right time to be thinking of romantic gestures, or would she just focus on studying, given her drive?
"Get a grip, Izuku," he mumbled to himself, pulling at his chin. He really was too tense.
He settled on a more minimalist effort, clearing off his desk of memorabilia to give plenty of room for studying. They could leave it at that. Just another session, like the plenty they had before they were dating. No need to get stressed out.
The knocking on his door at 7 p.m. sharp seemed to pulse through his entire body. He sat still for a moment, a sudden onset of nerves freezing him in place.
Maybe a little reason to get stressed out.
With a breath to re-animate himself, he rushed over to the door, opening it widely to see his Uraraka standing there, beaming brightly with a stack of books. She wore a casual pink hoodie and a pair of jeans - nothing out of the ordinary and yet, still radiant.
"Heya Deku!" she exclaimed, her eyes wide and her cheeks looking exceptionally rosy. He blinked, finding it hard to look at her - not an infrequent occurrence. But there was something different about tonight. Her face looked...shinier, somehow.
"HiUraraka," he said quickly, gesturing for her to enter. "You look beautiful!"
The words stumbled out of his mouth without him thinking, and he immediately clamped it shut afterward.
Uraraka nearly stumbled into the room after the compliment, managing to save herself from falling by roughly sliding into the extra seat at his desk. "Thanks, Deku!" she said loudly with her hands balled in her lap. "You look hot!"
The statement hung in the space, quickly expanding to smother out any other sound they could have made. Deku could hear his own pulse ringing in his ears at the proclamation. His eyes bulged outward, but he dared not look directly at her.
She broke the suddenly frosty atmosphere first. "I mean, I mean because you're in a tight shirt! Wait, no, I mean, because you're wearing a shirt and I just noticed they started the heater in the building today and I just wondered if you were feeling - is it warm in here?" Uraraka suddenly pulled at the neck of her sweater, mouth moving more rapidly than he could ever recall.
Watching her murmur like he himself might, looking so flustered - by him, of all people - and feeling tension thick in the room, Izuku could not help it. He burst out laughing. It was ridiculous. He had a much better understanding of why all of this was so often a subject of comedy.
Mercifully, Uraraka joined, laughing with him, clearly relieved. The two dared a glance at one another, eyes full of mirth.
"We're hopeless at this, huh?" Izuku dared, smiling at her.
"Yeah, definitely," Uraraka replied, grinning back, rubbing at her brow. "Who would have thought dating would be so hard?"
"Both of us before we started, I think," Izuku said honestly, shifting to take a seat next to her. He opened his own workbooks, excited to get into the meat of their evening.
"True," Uraraka said with a sigh, shaking her head. "Still, I somehow didn't think it would be this difficult."
"Sorry that this hasn't been my strong suit." He did sincerely wish he could do this better. Be suave or whatever it was. She deserved it.
"Me too," Uraraka responded, giving him a smile that somehow made it all worthwhile. "Shall we get started?"
The two got into their homework in earnest - English, math and finally heroics law. Things fell into a more casual routine, each of them falling back to the patterns they would have as friends. It was nice. Cozy. Comfortable, like crawling under the covers on a cold day.
But Izuku found himself watching Uraraka more intently tonight than he might have before they started going out. He could not help but admire when her face got scrunched up at a difficult question. Or when it morphed into a glorious smile when she gained some new understanding. Or how intense she could get when she focused in on something, so determined and driven in a way he always admired.
He noticed other things, too. Like how soft her hair looked. Her cute, pink cheeks. Her skin, which looked strangely, especially vibrant today. It shined more than usual, which was saying something.
It clicked for him suddenly. He blushed and turned his eyes to his notebook, not bold enough to ask the question directly to her face.
"Are you...wearing makeup tonight?" Izuku inquired, breaking their silence.
He heard Uraraka shift but did not dare to look over.
"Err...yeah. You noticed?"
"Yeah…" Izuku responded, feet tensing beneath his chair. "...It looks good."
There was another awkward moment of noiselessness. Izuku stared intently at his textbook, eyes listlessly reading over some obscure law like it was the most interesting thing in the world. He prayed the compliment landed safely.
"...Thanks," she responded quietly, not saying anything more. Izuku dared not glance over to her.
The two worked for a little while longer, falling back into their routine. They eventually decided on a five-minute break, using it as a reprieve to dissipate the tension stored up in their bodies.
Despite everything, they had once again fallen into a comfortable companionship - until Uraraka broke the spell by reaching out for his hand.
It was far from the first time they had held hands, but it never failed to send a pleasant shock up his arm. Her hand was callused, worn as his was from many hours of training. Yet it still always felt pleasant to his touch and he was eager to grasp it.
He glanced up at her as she squeezed her hand in his, carefully keeping her pinky separated to stop her quirk from activating. She was beaming up at him from beneath her eyelashes, eyes warm as ever. He gulped, his free hand starting to quiver as he lost himself in the wonder of the moment.
She inclined her head ever so slightly, but he did not move. He was frozen still, enraptured, unable to think of anything beyond the feeling of her hand and the light upon her face.
He tried to snap himself back to reality. He should say something. Probably. This was a good time for a romantic line. He just had to wing it.
"You're-"
"Deku, I-"
The two were in-synch enough to speak in unison. But Izuku still felt it just added to the increasingly tense moment.
"You want to go first?" Izuku suggested, forcing himself to smile best he could despite his nerves.
Uraraka's face fell under the shadows of her locks. "No...well, sure, I guess. I just...I don't know. Maybe the moment's lost if that makes sense?"
It did but it did not make Izuku happy. How had he lost a moment so quickly, when he was barely cognizant of it even starting? It was frustrating.
"Yeah, I guess I do," Izuku responded, sighing mournfully. He let go of her hand, reaching out to rub at his temple. "It was a lot easier talking when we were just friends."
He did not think much of the question. They were open enough about some of the hiccups of romance. They trusted each other to talk through it.
But the statement carried more weight than he had imagined.
"Should we...should we just go back to that?"
Izuku let his hand fall to the side and sat up straighter, shocked into alertness by the sudden question. He looked at Uraraka, who was staring away from him, biting her lip.
A chill settled over him, the teasing embers of their teenage love suddenly seeming a distant memory.
"I...um…" he stammered, throat suddenly feeling clogged. His mind whirred, trying to find a suitable answer. "Why do you ask?"
He internally chided himself on the deflection. But he had no idea how to respond. Despite all the awkwardness, the moments of romance they had shared were blissful. He had never even thought about turning away from it all, so soon after starting to experiment with it.
Or had he? Why had he even suggested being friends was easier?
"It's just... you're right. It has gotten harder," Uraraka murmured, staring forlornly over her work. "I was worried before we started going out. I was worried about what it might do to our friendship or whether it would just distract us. And I can't help but feel like it has."
Izuku's mind flashed to that morning when his head got fogged up overthinking about her. She had a point.
He could feel it. A wall of ice, slowly coming between them, each of them burning up on either side of it. Maybe they could break their way through together but that appeared an increasingly monumental task. Especially when his own speech was so artless, with all the grace of an iceberg.
He could remember the days when such barriers seemed smaller. He had to admit that a part of him wanted to go back to that.
But other memories flooded into his mind too. Walking with her, hand-in-hand, after class. Laughing with her on their first date. The scorching heat of their first kiss. Even tonight, watching her, noticing things he realized he never properly appreciated.
"I...I didn't mean anything by it," he stated carefully. As soon as the words left his mouth, it sounded lame, even to him. Why could he not say the right thing? "I still like being with you like this."
"I do too," she responded quickly, looking up at him, a deep frown etched into her face. He hated seeing that on her. "I like it too. It hasn't been bad or anything. I just worry you know?"
"I get it," Izuku replied, reaching out to clasp both her hands, nerves dissipating in a bid to hang onto what they were starting together.
But the contact was fleeting. She gave a quick squeeze but withdrew quickly, eyes glancing to the side.
"Sorry. I was probably just being silly."
"You weren't," Izuku insisted. "I know it's been hard. And I know I've been getting distracted lately. But we can keep trying to get better at this, can't we?"
Uraraka nodded in response. "We always have, right? Still driving each other to improve."
The pair shared a strained laugh at that. It was strange, framing romance like heroics when the two things appeared worlds apart. But both took passion and work ethic. That was something they each had plenty of.
But the peace they returned to was poisonous. His mind wandered into more doubt as he mulled their frosty relations. He wanted to put his all into their romance but he wondered if they really had it in them, especially given the strains they were under as heroes-in-training.
The two exchanged only the lightest of pleasantries, any lingering trace of fleeting romance thoroughly doused by their talk.
"...I think maybe I should get going back. I've been missing out on sleep, so I want to turn it in early," Uraraka said suddenly, stretching out to depart.
It was a full hour sooner than she might normally go on a study night. But Izuku could not blame her for being eager to get away from him.
"Oh, alright. See you...around?" Izuku wished he could have set a date with more confidence, but work-studies and training would keep them busy. Nights like this were fleeting. He wished he had not wasted it.
"Yeah, sure. We'll figure something out," she replied sincerely, with a smile. Without any fanfare, she walked out of the room, waving before shutting the door. "Good night!"
"Good night," Izuku responded, the light slamming of the door rudely banging against his eardrums. He waited a few seconds before letting his head fall to his desk, burying it in his notebook. He gazed into the seemingly endless expanse of white emptiness.
Haywire emotions clashed within him, keeping him locked a strange stillness. Frustration at the icy state of his first love. Anger at his own ineptitude. Anxiety over the endless uncertainties love brought with it, something no amount of effort seemed to help him figure out.
He had messed up somehow. He knew that. He had spoken unthinkingly and he was paying the price.
Izuku set his face into a hard line. His mind conjured up the images that were plaguing him more and more - the two of them, easygoing, meeting up after school, working together at the sports festival, training together in their first year. The nostalgia tasted sweet, his heart eagerly basking in the rays from the suns long set.
But those days were gone now. He had to move on if he wanted to experience what lay within love's confounding mysteries. He might not know what would happen but he would have to trust himself.
More importantly, he needed to trust her. It was Uraraka, after all. She had never let him down.
With a groan, he got out his little pink notebook. He would need to think up an apology - the perfect one. Get a plan ready and act quickly. He would rehearse it, to ensure he avoided shoving his foot in his mouth again.
"This is going to go perfectly," he murmured to himself, before submerging himself in his studies.
Despite his oft-messy exterior, Izuku could operate as efficiently as a well-oiled machine when he put his mind to it.
Today, he went into overdrive. He woke up a half-hour early to put some extra effort into his appearance, combing the messier strands of his hair and ensuring his uniform was neat.
He practiced words to her, mumbling up a storm as he went about the rest of his morning ritual.
He adjusted his green winter coat in the mirror carefully, trying to ensure he did not look weird. Uraraka may not care that much about his appearance - he doubted she would be dating him if she did - but it couldn't hurt to be as proper as possible. More than a few people had given him that advice, anyway.
Satisfied enough, Izuku ran out the door, deftly avoiding a few of his classmates to make it out. A rare snowstorm had hit the area hard last night, leaving the ground coated in a garish mixture of snow, slush and ice. It was early enough that the walkways were still covered.
It was not exactly a picturesque scene, but it would do well enough. Speed was important here. He did not want their terrible conversation from the previous night to fester. Best to face it head-on, like he would a villain.
As he expected, Uraraka was the next person to come through the doors. He knew she had pushed herself to become one of the earlier risers in her class. He had timed his own exit from the dorms accordingly.
Once again, she took his breath away. Dressed in a brown coat and an adorable pink hat and mittens, it seems strange to him how effortlessly she shone. He blinked, as stricken as the first time he laid eyes on her.
"Oh, hey Deku!" she said with her carefree bubbliness, flashing him a smile, seemingly untroubled by the events of the previous night. "Didn't think I'd see you here!"
He gulped, struggling to think with how smitten he was with her. But he had practiced more for this - to avoid his heart tying his tongue. He just had to stick to the script. He could do this.
"Yeah, I thought we could walk to class together this morning and just talk a bit." He kept his voice even-keeled and smooth, displaying little of the nerves he felt. He had to steel himself for this. She deserved that.
Her eyebrows flew upwards on her face, her lips loosening slightly as she appraised him. The expression did not last long, morphing back into another delighted smile. "Sure!"
Thrilled at the early success, Izuku made his way down the front steps. This was good. He had already cleared the first hurdle and she seemed receptive. All he had to do was repeat a few key phrases and he was sure they could put that night behind them. That she could see his commitment. Everything would go exactly as he planned it.
He felt his feet suddenly give way. Before he realized it, he was slipping on a patch of ice. He flipped upward into the air and soon found himself falling rapidly, his eyes gazing upon the overcast skies above.
Izuku prepared to meet the ground and welcomed his own destruction.
Before everything broke apart with his fall, he found himself floating in mid-air. He blinked for a moment, his mind not immediately processing what exactly had happened. He got a strange sense of vertigo as his body adjusted to its sudden weightlessness.
"You okay? We better be careful with all this ice!" Izuku inclined his head to see Uraraka, eyes focused intently on him. She still wore her beautiful smile, her suddenly ungloved hand extended, connected to his upper arm. When had that happened? She had quick reflexes.
Uraraka had saved him. Again.
His mind suddenly flashed, his heart hammering as he found himself warping back two years. He occupied two spaces, two times, at once. The pair of them together before their entrance exam. Both of them here, together, now. A strange, cute girl going out of her way to stop him from face-planting. His wonderful girlfriend preventing him from falling, rescuing him once more. Uraraka grinning at him in both places, friendly as always. Him, completely flabbergasted.
Oh. Oh. Right. It had always been this way.
She had always sent his heart flying with the greatest of ease. She had always gotten him flustered. Since they came to U.A., she had always been there for him. Had always been a friend, a companion, a saviour. At the core, nothing between them had changed.
She was one of his heroes. What had he ever been so afraid of?
In his mind's eye, he could see the wall of ice that had formed between them. That he had formed between him with his own glacial thinking. With a thought, the ice broke apart, no longer separating him from his best friend.
"Err...Deku? You alright?"
Izuku flew back into the present, his head no longer feasting on the sweet mixture of nostalgia and love. He saw Uraraka waving her bare hand before him, trying to bring him back to reality.
Without thinking, he grabbed a hold of the hand, making it fall still. He lowered it, giving her a wide grin.
"Yeah, I'm alright. Sorry about that!"
He noted a blush flooded her cheeks, but she did not react otherwise. However, her expression faltered after the moment lasted a few seconds too long.
"Hey, Deku?"
"Hmm, what is it?"
"I need my hand back if I'm going to release you."
"Oh, right!" he laughed as he let go. A voice inside nagged at him for the blunder, but in this instant, he no longer felt worried about such missteps. Suddenly, he felt surer about their bond than he could ever remember being.
She took off her other glove and carefully brought her fingers together. He oriented himself to land on his feet, taking care not to slip this time.
He had a script he could launch into right now. Prepared, rehearsed, proper. The words would not lead him astray.
But that speech would not do for him now. He let it scatter to the far reaches of his mind. His faith in his carefully prepared romantic notes went with them.
A true hero spoke directly from the heart. He could not be afraid of that anymore.
"I love you, Ochako Uraraka," he stated unabashedly, reaching out to grab one of her hands again. "And I want to stay with you."
The silence was palpable. Uraraka blinked rapidly at him, her eyebrows furrowing. "...What…?"
"Sorry, I just felt I needed to say that." Izuku kept his muscles lax and his voice even-keeled. He refused to get budged by nerves again. His feelings for Uraraka were an unshakeable pillar now; his actions would reflect that. "I messed up last night and I'm sorry about that. I couldn't wait to apologize. I don't want there to be any doubt about how I feel about you. About us."
"Oh. Oh." He felt a hard squeeze on his hand and watched as Uraraka suddenly inclined her head downward. "This is a lot to take in, Deku."
He reached his free hand out towards her, wanting to comfort her. "Sorry, Uraraka I didn't mean-"
"I wanted to say sorry, too. I felt awful about what I said last night," she said softly, her eyes flying upward to meet his. She stared forward, her irises displaying a powerful intensity. "But I guess you beat me to the punch this time."
He breathed, a pressure lifting off his chest. "Well, that's-"
Before he could react further, Uraraka pounced on him, throwing her full weight into it. He caught her easily enough, but he was left defenceless as she wrapped her arms around him and pressed her lips into his.
His pulse raced as he pushed back into her, drinking all of her in. Their kisses before were chaste, delicate, his insecurities often freezing him in place. This was different. They were melting in a passionate inferno, the two heroes pushing, driving each other, harmonious as they ascended to the heavens.
Uraraka pulled away first, but did not separate, keeping her forehead connected to his. Her brown eyes shined brighter than ever, like stars lighting the way in the sky.
"Wow."
"Wow," he echoed.
"Love you, Deku," she stated simply, surely. "Sorry, I wanted to get you back for surprising me, somehow."
She gave him a cheeky grin and he laughed at that.
"Not how I expected we'd next say that to each other, but I'll take it," she continued.
"I guess it had been a while." He could not remember exactly when they had last exchanged simple affirmations of love. Had it been that first date? Was he so lost in his own head that he had forgotten to repeat it?
"...Too long, I think," she replied grinning back. "We both got a little lost."
"Well, I promise I'm going to say it more often," he murmured sweetly to her, inclining his head slightly to press a kiss to her forehead. "I'm done with worrying. I love you, Uraraka."
"...Were you planning this?" she questioned, her head hot under his lips.
"Not exactly. My idea kind of...went up in the air."
She giggled at that. "This is because I caught you?"
Perhaps that should be embarrassing but he nodded without hesitation. "I realized how much you've been there for me. And how things don't have to change so much between us. We're still friends."
"The best," she corrected.
"And we'll be there for each other, right?" He raised a fist towards her. "Every step of the way."
Uraraka completed the fist bump. "Same as ever."
"So should I really worry about if we're dating?" It was a rhetorical question, now. At that moment, he knew he would not be inhibited by those doubts again. Most of the time, anyway. But they would work through any hurdles together.
"Not at all," she answered anyway, for herself and for him.
She suddenly opened her hand, grabbing onto him and triggering her quirk. He went weightless once more, allowing her to more easily pull him in and share their love together once more.
Forevermore.

Dodge This! | Katsuki Bakugou x Reader
| Prompt:  Reader and Katsuki are the last two surviving players during dodgeball
Going above and beyond for a mere school game isn’t something that is common. Whether you win or lose, the game is just a game, right? Well, trying telling that to the competitive bunch at U.A High School. The last duo standing? Katsuki Bakugou was definitely expected. But you? Completely capable but definitely not expected. Are you going to dodge this or lose?
| Warning: Violence but not really, and cursing. Mentions of falling to the ground from a slightly high height (if that possibly triggers anyone).
| Word Count: 4,000+ (Sorry!)

Reader’s Quirk: Air Manipulation
How it works: Using their body and the air around them, the user is able to pretty much use the element to their advantage. For example, they are able to create winds, levitate, fly, and so on.
Drawback: Overuse can make them dizzy and breathless. User can pass out from exerting more than their body can handle. The manipulation can prove to be fatal for the user and/or others if the actions are not carefully handled.
-----
This was it. No one expected this to be the final line up. Katsuki versus Izuku? Highly expected. Katsuki versus Shouto? Also very expected. That, however, was definitely not the case, right now.
“Alright, the showdown that determines which team wins. Bakugou Katsuki against L/n F/n,” Mr.Aizawa calmly spoke. Cheers can be heard throughout the entire gym. No one in the class thought this is what the last round would be.
“I’m about to absolutely destroy your chance to win,” Katsuki snarled, tiny sparks emitted from his hand.
“For fuck’s sake,” I mumbled. How on Earth did I not get hit? I fought as best as I could but to survive to the last round was surprising.
“What did you say?” his brows were furrowed. The pair of red eyes were set on me, displaying a certain emotion. Not anger, but rather immense excitement to win. I shook my head in return.
“Good luck! Win for us, y/n!” Mina yelled from the gym bench. I turned around and offered a small, hesitant smile.
“We’re counting on you, Katsuki!” Denki called out waving his hand in the air.
I noticed how empty the rectangle was. No one besides Katsuki and I were standing. Everyone was out. As if it weren’t obvious already, it hit me. Oh no. I’m alone fighting this lunatic. A lunatic that I had an odd fondness for.
Why did it come down to this? Why did it have to end up with only him and me?
-EARLIER-
“Okay, class. Settle down. As usual, you are free to use your quirk. However, be aware that this is not a life and death situation. Do not to harm one another for any reason other than what is appropriate for the game, otherwise, you will be eliminated. The assignment will be graded based on participation. You all will be split between the two groups. For the assignment, the losing team will get 50 points while the winning team will get 100 points,” Mr. Aizawa looked tired, as usual. Hmm... I did hear that he stayed up trying to prepare papers for a future assignment. The class was quite excited because it has been a while since we got to do these activities. As usual, we wore our hero attire to use our powers to the best of our abilities. I sigh as I pull up my pants for the ninth time.
“Heck, yeah!” Denki yells out startling a few others around him.
“Group A will be on the right side of the line. Group B will be on the left side. After you hear your name, go stand on the correct side,” Mr. Aizawa pointed at the middle of the humongous gym.
“Group A consists of Bakugou, Iida, Asui, Ojiro, Koda, Tokoyami, Shoji, Kagakure, Yaoyorozu, Aoyama, and Kaminari. Group B consists of Midoriya, L/N, Todoroki, Sero, Jiro, Sato, Mineta, Ashido, Kirishima, and Uraraka,” chattering can be heard throughout the gym. Both groups motivated to defeat the other.
“Damn, looks like I’m an enemy this time, huh?” Eijiro smiles towards Katsuki, only to ‘tch’ in return. Hm, now that I think about it. Eijiro and Katsuki rarely worked against each other.
“Don’t expect me to hold back,” he replied glaring at the entire opposing group.
“Oh, I forgot to mention,” the class settled down after hearing the teacher’s voice once again.
“There will be two rounds. The first round will be a normal group effort. However, the second round is one on one. The second round will only begin once each group has a single surviving player,” as soon as those few sentences left Mr. Aizawa's mouth, many were left confused. What are the chances of there only being one on each team?
“You must be wondering, how that is possible, right?” the class collective nods in return.
“Well, there are chances of two or more against one. I am taking that into account. In those situations, to make the game easier, I’ve decided that any balls that hit the single player competing against two or more players will not be counted. Does that make sense?” Mr. Aizawa tried to make the instructions as short and clear as possible.
“Also, the last person to survive in each group receives an extra 50 points. In short, you should play to survive until the last round,” those two sentences were enough to make everyone consider their teams as individuals to defeat, indirectly that is.
Both groups had a new goal: save your group but with the intention to survive until the end.
Mr.Aizawa turned around to sit on the lowest bleacher row. He should take this time to sleep but I’m pretty sure he needs to monitor us. Once again, I  reach down to pull up my pants.
“Ha, I’m gonna beat every single one of you until I’m the last to stand in here,” Katsuki challenged, pointing at the rectangle we all stood in.
“We’ll see about that,” Shouto responded, already preparing ice on his hand.
“Y/n!” Izuku called out with his left hand in the air. A hum leaves my mouth to indicate I’m paying attention.
“I hope this doesn’t sound too weird but I noticed you were having difficultly with your pants earlier. Are they a size too big?” he questions.
“Oh, yeah. I grabbed the wrong pair in a hurry. These are from the very first design so the size is incorrect,” I sigh. It’ll be hard to focus on the game if my pants keep slipping.
Izuku mumbled a little to himself before walking up to Momo on the opposite side. A small conversation continues between the two before Momo hands him a black object. Is that a-
“Here! Momo was able to create a belt for you!” he cheerily claimed.
“I... Thank you! You didn’t have to do that,” the belt lands in my hand. Rather than a normal belt, it was a long cloth-like belt that I’m able to tie down to adjust to my waist. Good thinking, Momo.
“Not a problem at all. It’d be hard to have fun if you had to focus on your pant uh... not falling. Since the experience counts, none of us should hesitate to move because of our outfit,” I smile at his kindness. Managing to gain Momo’s attention, I mouth a ‘thank you’ to which she happily nods.
“Deku! Quit playing around before the game even starts!” small explosions could be heard blasting out of Katsuki’s hands.
“Huh?” both Izuku and I claimed while we turned around to face him.
“Oh, I know. I wasn’t playing around Kacchan,” Izuku looked at him with determined eyes.
“Don’t expect me to hold back,” he continued. I could feel the energy running coursing his veins.
“You better not,” Katsuki turned his back to us before walking off.
“Quiet down. When I say go, you all are free to start,” Mr. Aizawa was sitting on the bench
“Ready? 3, 2, 1...”
“... Go,” Aizawa signaled the start of this round.
“Fucking die,” the glowing heat barely grazes my pants. I was stunned. One more foot and it could’ve burnt off. My pant isn’t fireproof like the rest of my outfit. I didn’t even get the chance to think before a ball flies towards my chest. I duck down while simultaneously grabbing the nearest red ball. Quickly! Think. Think!
I raise my arm launching the ball in the air. It lands about a foot from the left corner of the rectangle. Hm...
“Damn it. I missed,” I somewhat halfheartedly whined. Please work...
“Are you even trying?! Of course, you’ll miss if you throw it like that,” he flings another ball at me. However, this time it was on blazing with fire. Oh, heck no.
A grunt leaves my lips as I reverse the ball towards him. The gust of wind spirals the fire in the air. He easily dodges it with a light explosion. I levitate, with the air underneath me to support my feet. My ground wasn’t too far beneath me. My body standing two feet above the flooring. I pull five spheres towards myself before looking at where Katsuki was standing. This definitely won’t be easy. But I am not willing to lose. Easy. Don’t lose it. Concentrate.
I take a deep breath and launch two near his leg. One barely grazing him while the other was far left.
“Missed!” he snickered. Yeah, I missed. I looked down. An aimed look of disappointed pasted onto my face.
“Don’t be sad! You can do this!” Eijiro shouted from the bleachers with his toughened fist. As soon as I smile back at him, a red object zooms past my vision. I flinch back at the quick action.
“Focus. I want to win this with your full effort involved,” he looks straight up into my eyes. Is it that seriou- Well, yeah... It is.
“Same here, dude,” I respond while controlling the levitating spheres in the air. Not giving him the chance to pick up any more balls, I push the remaining three of mine towards his way. One floats past the left shoulder. Another flies above his head. The third paces beside his left knee.
“Missed again, floaty,” a chuckle leaves his lips. Floaty? Floaty??
A visible sign of confusion plants on my face. My eyes don’t leave the balls on the palm of his hands.
“I manipulate the air. Floating comes with it for free,” I swing to the left, avoiding the pair he aimed at my shoulder.
“Aimed too slow. Missed me,” I managed to return his words at him.
“Tsk. Not for too long,” both his arms rise. Two explosions take place, surrounding almost all exits possible. The heat fills up around me, leaving me in a vulnerable spot. I can’t see him or anything else.  Look for an exit, dummy. There! For all I know, Katsuki could be waiting for me to get out to hit me out. However, I’ll regret not getting out when I had the chance. I lift off the ground, quickly flying out the right top patch that had a closing hole. Not making it entirely on time, my bottom right leg catches on fire. I place myself back on the ground, hissing as I feel the burning heat.
I blow the spreading fire away with small consecutive winds. The burnt cloth scent fills the area. My right leg is now visible. My pants are burnt an inch beneath my knee along with a section of the belt. Luckily, it did not fall apart. Not wanting to distract myself, my eyes search for the blonde boy. My attention sets on where Katsuki was standing - slightly ahead of the middle of his portion of the rectangle. Not yet.
“Try not to expose my lower body. I don’t want any comments from the guys. You know the ones I’m talking about,” I grabbed two balls with my hands and fling them at the blonde male. Hm. It’s okay. Continue.
“Idiot, you keep aiming too far away. Are you even trying to win? And I’m not a pervert, you know,” he angrily shoots out another ball encased in fire. My fingers rush to gain control of it. It flies past the middle line and glides far from him, landing at the right corner of the rectangle.
“Dammit. I am trying. You’re fast so the aims miss.”
“And I know that you aren’t,” I bend my knees to lower myself but didn’t properly grab another ball while talking.
Noticing my mistake, Katsuki grins and throws the ball in his hand towards me with bare brute strength. My eyes widen in shock but I crawled backward from my position. The ball soars straight past where my figure previously was. If I stayed there, I would have crashed flat onto the ground. My heart hammers against my chest at how close and dangerously fast that was. A furious grunt escapes from his mouth.
Pushing myself up, I lift off the floor to place myself higher than him. The cool air brushes against my body. It felt incredible after the amount of physically exhausting actions taken.
“Are you sure you want to do that?” he smirks before aiming three consecutive red balls at my leg. Luckily, my reflexes kicked in quickly enough. I successfully lift myself above all three aims. To avoid any contact I jump higher and higher in the air. To avoid any misses he fires faster and faster. Both of us were ready to fight it out till the end. The same actions of rising and aiming continued a little longer for our separate benefit. It might be a mere game but that’s why it’s fun to make it crazy, right?
Similar to the beginning, I rise five balls and place them near me in the air. I blast all quintet of them in a spiral. Katsuki blasts himself to the right, easily skipping away from every single one. I groan, disappointed at the scene.
“Take this!” he sneers loudly boosting himself in the air and blasting the same amount of ball at my chest. I rise higher to the far right, setting another significant distance from the floor and I. Focusing too much on my placement, I barely noticed the four blazing red spheres heading towards me.
Before I can gain control of another proper footing, a second of dizziness blurs my vision. A gush of wind tickled my body. My body felt heavier and the ceiling looked further away. A single shout of my name from a familiar voice enters my ears. Katsuki? It was a beautifully scary few seconds of excitement. Sadly, it didn’t last long enough for me to catch myself. I harshly dropped down 10 feet onto the floor. Thud! A short scream emits my throat. My voice echoes throughout the wide room. Everything stilled for a second. Katsuki, the class, and Mr.Aizawa frozen at my sprawled body.
The class collectively shouts my name, shocked at my dangerous fall.
“Do we need to stop here?” Mr.Aizawa called out, sounding slightly worried about any broken bones.
“No!” I hastily grunt out. Painful thumps course through my body. Luckily, I don’t feel any actual damage.
“I’m fine. Just lost my step there,” jumping back onto my feet I prepared myself for the hectic game.
“You good there?” Katsuki looked serious. The pair of red eyes bored right into my figure. Was it at the game or my fall? Nope, that’s just him. I nod to reassure my safety.
“There were many horrible falls I’ve experienced. This is just an addition to my collection.”
After rolling my shoulders, I reach out for the red ball to my side. For now, I need to take a break from my quirk. Otherwise, it’ll be hard to complete important movements.
“Alright then, get ready,” sparks form on his hands as he rises above me. Once again, he blinds my field of vision with an explosion. I turn my head, my arms in front of me, trying to avoid. Not wanting any surprise hits, I ran randomly on my side of the rectangle.
“Running is the only choice, huh?”
He looks down at me, setting a fiery explosion in front of me while simultaneously hurling a ball at me. His entrapment was almost successful. I step forward, my back inches away from striking me. Running back and away from the blaze, I sling the ball at his legs. It flies between his legs, landing a few feet behind him.
Setting himself down, he grabs another ball and blasts it towards me at high speed. I flinched and sway to the side. With a successful attempt in grabbing the nearest rubber ball, I project it on his right side. This is fine. This is enough. Right?
At this point, I stopped running and tried to catch my breath. My arms bent and my hands resting above my knees. It’s only been 15 minutes yet it felt like an hour.
“What? Tired?” he mocked on his feet.
“No, not really,” I was on-guard, prepared to dodge anything that comes my way.
“But you might be,” my smile causes him to frown in confusion.
Ignoring my words, he blasts fire with his right arm. A hiss leaves my lips as I feel the intense heat, especially near my naked leg. I step further away from the middle boundary that separates us. Katsuki foolishly steps forward, ready to shoot continuous pockets of blazing rubber balls. This is it. He is where I wanted him. One foot closer to the middle line could’ve made this easier but this is good. A small chuckle left my lips. I’ve been waiting for you to stand there, Katsuki.
I raise my arms, quietly raising all the balls I’ve purposely landed on all sides of the rectangle. Each attacked I “missed” was made to fool. To fool everyone so even Katsuki ignored the fact that there were seventeen balls placed behind him in various positions. My silent trap to capture the fuming dragon.
Admittedly, this could’ve flopped immediately if there weren’t so many balls surrounding me. I made sure to leave many of them around me so my actions weren’t obvious. Luckily, my acts of disappointment from “missing” seemed to have helped.
Once again, I float into the air creating further distance between the two of us. A safety step to ensure I do not get blasted and knocked out by any explosions. My vision was clear, all the red balls were where I can see them. All positioned pretty much where I wanted them.
“Great game, Katsuki!” I say. Our expressions begin to contrast a great amount. My face shows satisfaction, delight, and hopefulness. Katsuki’s face shows confusion, frustration, and fury.
Lifting a spare single ball near his side, I rapidly tug the ball towards him. He swiftly turns sideways blasting at the decoy. I smile at the false trap I placed him in. Luring him in, grabbing his attention away from the official entrapment, and then closing all possible exits. That’s how I wanted to beat the strong and intelligent male in front of me.
“Got ya,” this time I actually lift all seventeen balls into the air. Some high in the air and some low to the ground. Some close by and some far to the sides. A surge of energy, nervousness, and excitement travels through my veins. My heart beating rapidly, wishing this trick successfully works. The fuming dragon stepped into the snare himself, not acknowledging that I had the rope in my hand the entire time.
“Sorry!” I shout out, once again grabbing his attention.
“Try and dodge this!”
As soon as I reach my hand out, grabbing “strings” in the air, realization strikes him. It strikes him a second too late. One by one, hit by hit, the red spheres crash onto his figure. Hitting his shoulders, arms, legs, back, and sides. Thumps of the fallen balls echo throughout the room. Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump... Thump... Thump. The last red ball stops bouncing and that was it.
Silence.
No one speaks.
I felt breathless from the successful mission. Eye widened at the red spheres on the ground surrounding his body. I felt breathless at his intense red gaze. Surprise builds upon my face. It... It worked. Wait. Did I win?
“Y/n! You did it!” Izuku was the first to shout out in victory. His eyes gleaming with happiness. The rest of my group shouts out in glory. Rising from their seats, they make their way towards me.
“We won? You all, we won,” I tell them, shocked. It worked?
I quickly look at Mr.Aizawa, wanting to know it was a guaranteed win.
“Y/n representing Group B wins,” he calls out. Groans from the other team contrast the cheers of mine.
Mina and Kyoka tackle me into a hug, congratulating me on the group’s win, along with my win. It felt amazing to win. Especially winning against someone as strong and capable as Katsuki, it felt as if I were the luckiest person on Earth.
“I didn’t realize you had that plan up your sleeve until I noticed the placement of the balls. You even acted sad every time you’d miss so many of us got worried,” Izuku looked at me with his green sparkling eyes. Hm. I wonder who would’ve won if Izuku and Katsuki were to battle.
“Yeah, I decided to go with it shortly after the game started. I didn’t know what else to do so I took my chance. Didn’t think it would actually work though,” a small embarrassed chuckle.
“It’s good that you went along with your plan. It did work out and that’s what matters,” Shouto spoke out, standing behind the Izuku.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right,” I smile at his comment. Our small celebration and conversation were cut short when Mr.Aizawa raised his hand to gain our attention.
“Everyone, go back to class. There are 15 minutes left but I have been called by the principal,” Mr.Aizawa said before heading out the door.
I turn around, looking for Katsuki but couldn’t find him. Is he okay? I hope it didn’t hurt him. Then, I managed to see Katsuki running after the teacher. Since we have lunch after this, I’ll try to check on him then. After all, we do sit a table or two away from each other.
The class slowly walks back to the room. Speaking away about the extreme and we just played. It was a basic participation grade, so none of us lost.
“Hey.” I turn back at the familiar voice. He was standing with his hand in his pocket.
“I asked Mr.Aizawa for permission to go to Recovery Girl. Follow me.”
“Huh? Why?” I was confused at the sudden requirement.
“You really don’t notice your bruises and the blood on your back?” he asked. I realized what he meant right when I touch my back. I hiss on impact, feeling the bruise and possible wound that could have formed from the fall.
“Oh, I guess the adrenaline got to me.”
He starts walking towards the nursing room and I tag along with him. A slightly awkward silence roams around us as we enter the destination.
“Are you okay?” he lifts his eyebrow at my question.
“Of course, I am. Other than the bruise I gave myself, the balls were completely harmless.”
“Oh, okay. That’s good,” I felt relieved to hear that he didn’t get any major injury.
+
“I don’t know how many times I’ve told you this but be careful when you’re floating at a great height. So far, you didn’t get any major injuries. I can heal you as much as I can but you’ll have to learn to quickly re-activate your quirk when falling from blur and dizziness. It’s hard but once you learn that, you definitely will have another advantage to count on,” Recovery Girl hands me a pack of ice for my back. Sliding off the bed, Katsuki and I get ready to leave for lunch.
“Well, you’re both good to go. You’ll feel tired so make sure you get enough sleep today,” we both nod and thank her as we exit the door.
Katsuki walks next to me. Both of us were the only ones in the hallway. I turn my head to look at him. He looks back at me.
“Next time, if we play the game and you and I are left. Come at me with all you’ve got. I know I’ll beat you,” he grins.
“I was just lucky, this time,” I shrug. He frowns at my comment and halts.
“Bullshit. I’m not saying this to make you happy. You went along with a plan that suited your quirk and won. That’s that. If it was sheer luck, you wouldn’t have worked hard to make it work,” his words felt heavy and helpful.
“And besides, I already know I would win if it came to a real battle. Until then, keep improving, floaty. If you’re unhappy with the results, keep working. Though, I’ll keep rising so don’t think you’ll win against me.”
“O-oh. Well, thanks. I didn’t think you’d uh say that to me,” I respond. My neck felt hot from embarrassment. I hope nothing is noticeable.
“I didn’t have a big place to practice until I came here and moved into the dorms,“ Katsuki was attentively listening to what I had to say. I still felt nervous at his gaze but tried to compose myself.
“Well, practice and practice as much as you’d like. You’re trying to be a hero for a reason, right? You can’t count on luck to save people. You have to count on yourself,” he starts walking again.
“I know. Now, I’m practicing as much as I can. Whenever I can. Being a hero comes with a dangerous cost but you’ll just have to go for it. Save as many as you can. Save anyone who looks for help,” I say, unknowingly walking ahead of Katsuki.
“Oi!” he shouts and I turn around. He had a wild look on his face.
“Dodge this,” my eyes widen in confusion at the small ball in his hand. How? Where did he get that from?
“Wha-gh,” a weird sound leaves my throat as I bend down. My hand sticks out, stopping the ball mid-air. Deactivating the stop, the ball falls onto my hand.
“To improve your quirk’s re-activation, you’ll have to stay in the air longer, right?” I nod at his question.
“Well, practice that throughout the day. Try throwing a ball into the air, stop it in mid-air, fly after it, and continue that process while floating. This trick could be helpful when saving many people,” his voice sounded calm and soothing.
“Oh, thanks for the idea! But the only downside is possible injuries. I don’t want to break any bones. And I don’t have a trampoline or something soft to catch me,” I was slightly lost in thought before a small idea hits me.
“Um, if you don’t mind. Can you practice with me at times?” he only looked at me in return. I begin to panic a little bit.
“Well, you don’t have to. It’s just you have very quick reflexes and what not so it’ll be helpful for me. And-” before I can continue he cuts me off.
“Fine.”
“Huh?”
“Do I need to repeat myself?” I shake my head, my mind shocked that he agreed.
“Alright, come on. I don’t want to miss lunch because you’re taking too long to walk,” he walks faster than before. I scramble on my feet trying to catch up.
+
Before you knew it, you both began practicing together. Before you knew it, you fell harder for him.
Before he knew it, you both began walking together. Before he knew it, he fell for you.
But now you both secretly knew it, you’ve fallen for each other.

I read your IzuOcha meta, and I loved it so much! It made so many good points! Now I’m wondering, since that meta was done a while back, have your opinions on the ship changed since then with the moments that came out afterwards, or are they more or less the same?
Ooh boy, Izuocha. I’m still conflicted over them TBH. They have some seriously sweet moments, but one of the overall problems I have with them is how one-sided their dynamic feels Post-Hero Killer arc. Before that, it felt like Ochako really was at least the third most important person in Deku’s life (after All Might and Kacchan, of course) but since then, their relationship has just stopped being important to Midoriya.
Just to run it down:
1. Hero Killer Arc: Once Izuku goes off to his internship, he doesn’t think about Ochako directly until she calls to ask about Iida.
2. Final Exams: In the Manga, Deku doesn’t talk to Ochako directly for this entire arc. He doesn’t react to her match at all - we hear his thoughts on MIneta’s match and not Ochako’s - and when they are about to hang out together at the mall, she leaves and he spares her no extra thoughts.
3. Training Camp: One scene where he worries about her injured arm and she’s one of the people he thinks of, but only in a crowd, and both feel flacidly unimpressive next to his “KACCHAAAAANNN” freakout feels.
4. Hideout Raid: Ochako says nothing to help him make the choice of whether or not to save Kacchan, or anything at all (in the manga) and he doesn’t think about her opinion except as it pertains to Bakugou. She clearly disagreed with him, but doesn’t voice it, so the two don’t talk about this potential conflict. There’s no one-on-one with them, Ochako just smooths over things with the crew and no resolution happens.
5. PLE arc: Deku ignores Ochako the whole time, excepting the one moment where he recognizes Toga is a fake. He could do that for anyone. He works with her, but he also works with Sero in the same scene. And he finds plenty of time to be inspired by Iida and Kacchan, worry about Todoroki and have his Big Life Altering fight with Kacchan in the same arc, so it’s not that he’s too busy with other shit.
6. Internship arc: Ochako is the only person Deku could actually talk to about his Eri angst, but he doesn’t. In the same scene where Tamaki and Nejire reach out to Mirio, and Kirishima and Aizawa help Deku deal with his angst, Ochako can only say his name. It’s Iida and Todoroki who help him deal with that emotional trauma, and they don’t even know what the problem is. Throughout the whole thing, they fight on seperate levels and Deku never thinks about or notices her.
7. Remedial arc: Ochako and Deku both have PTSD about the same thing (Nighteye’s death) which they blame themselves for. But they never confide in each other about it. Ochako confides in Aizawa and Tsu, Deku in Mirio, and Deku gets some consolation from Aoyama. But from Ochako, nothing.
8. School Festival: Deku is fighting his Villainous Counterpart, Gentle, who is inspired by his Love Interest, La Brava. A perfect opportunity for Deku to reflect on how his love interest, Uraraka, inspires him. Who does he think of? Mei, Jirou and Mina. He and Ochako only talk briefly in this arc when she lends him some tea.
9. Joint training Arc: Supposedly the big Izuocha arc. Two juicy opportunities for Deku’s relationship with her to be built up. First, Monoma could trash Deku’s friend/love interest to piss him off - classic shippy technique, make the hero  lose control of his/her powers when the s/o is insulted, and this is the Izuocha arc, Ochako’s on Deku’s team. So who does Monoma insult? Kacchan. Second: Classy Avatar shippy situation where the LI plays on the connection she has with the hero to calm down his Out of control powers. And sure, Ochako hugs Deku. But this does nothing. It’s the emotional connection with Shinsou that helps break it for Deku (I know, the brainwashing. It still feels like the chapter sets you up for Izuocha and gives you Shindeku instead. And in the aftermath, it’s Shoto who asks about Deku’s powers, and Kacchan who he confides in.
10. Winter Intern arc: Ochako keeps Deku’s Christmas gift. He doesn’t keep and treasure hers. He mentions her briefly alongside Shinso to his mom then traipses off to OT3 shippy shenanigans with Kacchan and Shoto, confiding in, learning and growing along side them in ways Ochako has yet to approach. Whether it’s Shoto, the guy he destroyed his body to emotionally rescue, or Kacchan, the near soulmate level rival who knows him better than anyone, doesn’t matter. Deku feels more for them than he does for Ochako now.
11. Current Arc; Deku apologizes to Ochako and they fistbump, which is nice, but not remarkable. No more than went down between Deku and Iida in the Hero Killer Arc. Honestly, it’s a platonic gesture. A bro gesture. And despite being together during the raid for about two chapters, Deku and Kacchan immediately ditch her at the first sign of trouble to go chase down the plot.
So yeah, that was longer then I meant it to be. On Deku’s side, there’s been virtually nothing special to his feelings towards Ochako, especially compared to his interactions with the other members of the Wonder Trio and his various friends, since about Chapter 45. We’re on 280. That’s too long to wait to give the protagonist any real development in his feelings for his love interest for me to really be all that invested on Deku’s end anymore. In theory, I like the idea of Ochako’s cheerful, nice girl attitude helping Deku get through his stressful life, but that hasn’t happened. They honestly also seem too much like siblings to me now (doesn’t help that she has his same facial proportions and looks like his mom) to read as romantic. My remaining interest in them is mainly as a potential OT3 option with Kacchan, if the series ever gets around to developing Kacchan/Ochako’s relationship again, and as a fairly typical “boring Shonen main romantic subplot” against which more compelling dynamics can be contrasted.
I guess this is all a fancy way of saying that I’ve cooled on it now and find it fairly boring, and wish they could just be platonic friends again instead of constantly being put in our faces as they “don’t worry Deku’s not gay he’s got a girlfriend” dynamic they’ve basically turned into.
Thanks for the ask - I hope no Izuocha shippers take offense to this, it’s just my opinion and analysis so far. Things could change. The series could properly develop them again. If so I’ll revise my opinion. Adieu

〈“Have you ever had a dream? Would you fight for it? Would you go to war? Would you die for it? So now I’ll take my stand, now I’ll make you see.” I Prevail, “Bow Down”〉
⊱ ────── {⋅. 🔥 .⋅} ────── ⊰
“Only one minute left! Todoroki has cornered the ten million point team and is poised to seize the ultimate prize! At least that’s what I would have predicted five minutes ago! Unbelievably, team Midoriya’s been able to keep away from the ice master for the last half of the game!”
My scowl turned into a grin as I watched the silverette open his palm to look down at the headband. “Gotcha bitch.”
His eyes widened in surprise. “S-Shimatsu tacos?!”
Midnight had told us we had to wear the band around our forehead, but she never said the numbers had to be showing. Aoyama had put the numbered band on first, with the taco band on top, turned around so the logo was hidden.
“They duped us!”
“Get them!”
Flames shot up in front of us, acting as a barrier to keep them at bay. With that metal body of his, he can withstand my fire, but for how long? And that air attack, can it bypass my flames?
“Team Aoyama has used a bait and switch tactic to full their opponent, but can they keep their distance until the clock runs out?! Team Bakugo nabs two headbands and moves into third place! The final moments of the game have been full of shakeups! Oh, to be young again! Bakugo is a merciless force!! What a point hog! That was a shield breaker heard ’round the arena and I can’t wait to watch the replay!”
The transparent chain shot through the wall of fire, grazing my cheek as I jumped to the side. I tried to grab it, but nothing happened – I was just grasping at air. A metal arm shot forward through the flames, fingertips grazing Aoyama’s face. I cocked my fist back, the fire raging hire as my body temperature rose. “Piss off!” I slammed my fist against his, pushing against each other. The metal on his skin started to soften from the intense heat but he refused to back down.
“S-So hot.” Aoyama whimpered, his body shaking against mine. Shit, I momentarily forgot about him. I took a deep breath and my flames lowered, giving metal man a solid opportunity. He grabbed the front of my shirt, the other arm reaching for the bands around Aoyama’s neck. “Hang tight, mademoiselle!” He shifted his body, swinging his right leg over my shoulder, his boot slamming against the silverette’s hand clutching me.
“Oi, what are you -”
Aoyama shot off his laser and my body jerked backward violently, away from the stunned team.
“With just eleven seconds left, team Aoyama makes a harrowing escape from the competition, but can they stay on their feet until the clock runs out?! Oh no!! Team Midoriya didn’t get the ten million points after all! The game is almost over! Time for a count down!”
My feet slid across the ground. With the angle of Aoyama’s body and the sudden blast of his laser, my body is off balance and I don’t think I can recover! If Aoyama touches the ground, all our efforts will be for nothing! That means… I did all that exercise and thinking for nothing! Shit, shit, shit. My foot slid out from under me and Aoyama squeaked.
“TIME’S UP!!!”
My back slammed against the ground, him landing on top of me and knocking the wind from my lungs. He lifted a shaking hand, giving me a thumbs up. I groaned, throwing my arm over my eyes.
“And with that, the second round is officially over! Now, let’s take a look at who our top five teams are! In first place, team Todoroki! In second place, team Bakugo! In third place, team Aoyama!”
“We fucking did it,” I groaned, smacking him on the back.
“In fourth place, team Tetsu – wait what? It’s team Shinso! When did they come back from the dead?! And in fifth place, we have team Midoriya! These five valiant teams will advance to the final round! Now, let’s take an hour-long lunch break before we start the afternoon festivities! See you soon! Hey, Eraserhead, let’s grab some food.”
“I’m taking a nap.”
Aoyama rolled off of me and I sat up with a huff. My head fucking hurts. My back fucking hurts. What is my life right now? I pulled myself to my feet, glancing down at the blonde clutching his stomach and holding my hand out to him. “Looks like your plan worked, bro.”
His eyes met mine, accepting the hand. “It was a good thing you kept that band, the plan went perfectly.”
“I want my band back.” I muttered, turning around and approaching the silverette and his team.
His eyes narrowed at me when he noticed me. “What, did you come to gloat?!”
I pointed at the band being held by the ash-blonde boy with no lips. I’m calling him Skeletor. “I just want my taco band back, man.”
He continued to glare at me, folding his arms over his chest. “You could at least say please!”
“What can I say? I’m American, I’m a rude bitch.” I responded blankly. He started to yell loudly but I ignored him, turning toward Skeletor as he stepped forward, holding out the band.
“Here. That was a pretty slick move.”
I took it, tying it around my forehead again. “Wasn’t my idea, but thanks. You guys did well.” I sent one last look to the metal man, who was still ranting and raving, before walking away. I didn’t get far.
“Jen!” An arm was thrown around my neck, pulling me close to another body. Ryuu pouted at me, poking my cheek. “You ended up with my points, after all.”
I scratched my cheek. “Sorry about that. You did start it, though.”
He grinned. “I was hoping to catch you by surprise, but you’re really strong! Class A is really something else.”
I nodded, stuffing my hands into my pockets. “Todoroki and Bakugo are the total package – powers, instincts, and intelligence. Izuku’s greatest asset is his intelligence, drive, and quick thinking. He’s also pretty powerful, but he can’t control it yet, so.”
He hummed thoughtfully. “You don’t include yourself with them?”
“Not really. There’s nothing driving me to be the best, ya know? I don’t have some grand dream or goal I want to achieve, which makes me weaker than them. Plus, I don’t really feel like it’s fair to lump myself in with them since I’m older.”
“Older?”
“Yeah, I’m seven… teen… fuck.” My eye twitched. I’m turning into Izuku with my fat ass mouth, fuck’s sake!
“Oh, really? Did you get held back or something?”
“Uhh… something like that. You’re not gonna tell anyone, are you?” I asked, tugging at his wrist as a bead of sweat rolled down my cheek. I hadn’t even told Bakugo that yet.
Ryuu smiled brightly, tugging me closer with the arm still around my neck. “Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me. Can I ask you something else?”
“Hmm?”
“Why didn’t you use your quirk against me?”
My body tensed up. Well shit, I wasn’t expecting that question.
“I was observing you for the first half of the cavalry battle. Your quirk is mostly offensive, but it can also make a solid defense. When someone gets too close to you, your quirk is almost an instantaneous reaction, almost like a reflex.” His eyes bore into my own, making me shift uncomfortably. I hated being stared at. “But when I went after you, that reflex wasn’t there. Do you not consider me a threat?”
“What, no! It’s not like that, it’s just…” I scratched my cheek as I lowered my gaze to the ground. Why didn’t I use my power against him? I was prepared to as soon as I felt his presence, but as soon as I realized it was him, I lost all drive to attack him. “I don’t know… the thought of attacking you… I don’t like it. I’m not underestimating you, Ryuu, or looking down on you. I’m sorry if I made you feel that way. I just… you’re special to me.”
He smiled brightly, gently grabbing my shoulders. “I understand. To be completely honest, I know you’re stronger than me, so even if you were looking down on me, it’d be justified, but I was mostly just curious. No hard feelings, okay?”
I nodded, tugging him closer so I could wrap my arms around him. “Sorry you didn’t make it through.”
He hummed. “My hopes and dreams are on you now, Jen~”
“Hey, Rin, let’s grab some lunch!” Called a brown-haired boy from the end of the hall.
“I’ll be rooting for you in the next game!” He sent me a smile, giving me a squeeze before running down the hall after his friend.
…fuck, I forgot there’s another event! When will this end?
⊱ ────── {⋅. 🔥 .⋅} ────── ⊰
I turned the corner and paused. Bakugo’s back was flush against the wall. Is he… eavesdropping? I raised a brow, stepping closer. “Oi, Bak -”
His hand slapped over my mouth, eyes narrowed. “Be quiet.”
I nodded and he removed his hand, stepping closer to the edge of the wall. I leaned against it behind him, perking up my ears.
“I was overwhelmed.”
Todoroki? I leaned around the blonde, seeing him standing at the end of the hallway across from Izuku, who looked nervous as fuck. What, are they clashing again?
“And it made me break the promise I made to myself a long time ago. Iida and Kaminari, Yaoyorozu and Tokoyami, Uraraka. None of them felt it. In that moment, I was the only one that could sense your true power. It reminded me of something – experiencing All Might’s quirk.”
“O-Oh yeah? Okay… is that all?” Izuku tried to hide it but his voice shook with anxiety. I should teach him how to play poker so he can work on bluffing.
“I’m saying… the power coming from you felt the same as All Might’s.”
Bakugo tensed from in front of me.
“Midoriya, tell me… are you really All Might’s secret love child or something?”
I smacked my forehead against the wall, shoulders shaking with laughter. Bakugo smacked me in the stomach, glaring at me. How can I not laugh at that? He said it in such a serious voice! This fuckin’ kid…
“Well, are you?”
“No, no way! That’s not it at all! But I guess even if I was, I totally would say I wasn’t so you wouldn’t believe me no matter what, I bet!” He’s officially panicking. “Anyway, I promise, you’ve got the wrong idea. And… why would you even think that about me?”
“‘That’s not it at all’, is interesting wording. It suggests there is something between you two that you’re not supposed to talk about.” Todoroki paused. “My father is the hero, Endeavor. You must have heard of him, which means you’re aware that he’s the number two hero. So, if you’re connected to the number one hero, All Might, in some way, that would mean… that I have even more reason to beat you and Winchester.”
Bitch what, why me? Bakugo glanced at me with a raised brow and I shrugged, giving him a confused look.
“My old man is ambitious,” he continued. “He aims for the top. He used his power to make a name for himself as a hero, but he was never able to best All Might, so the symbol of peace is living proof of his failure. He’s still at it, though, trying to take down All Might. One way or another.”
“I’m not really sure what you’re getting at or why you’re involving Jen… what are you trying to tell me, Todoroki?”
I think I might have an idea, but I’m really hoping it’s just my cynical mind jumping to conclusions.
“Have you ever heard of… quirk marriages? They became a problem in the first few generations after superpowers became widespread. There were those that sought out potential mates solely with the intention of creating powerful children. Many people were forced into relationships. They were simply viewed as old fashioned arranged marriages, but clearly, it was unethical. My father not only has a rich history of accomplishments, but plenty of money to throw at his problems. He bought my mother’s relatives to get his hands on her quirk and now he’s raising me to surpass All Might.”
My eyes widened, heart skipping painfully in my chest. I knew this kid was edgy but fuck. I wrapped my arms around Bakugo’s neck, my forehead resting against my arm. To think this kid has been suffering this goddamn much… and because of a hero? Aren’t they supposed to fucking save people?
“It’s so annoying… I refuse to be a tool for that scumbag. In every memory of my mother, I only see her crying. I remember, she called my left side ‘unbearable’… before she poured boiling water on my face.”
What is this bullshit?
“Calm down,” Bakugo muttered, his hand resting over my arm. My skin had been heating up and I didn’t even realize it.
“Sorry.” I held him tighter as I took deep breaths to calm the boiling rage in my gut. I wanted nothing more than to take Todoroki into my arms and tell him everything would be okay.
“The reason I picked a fight with you was to show my old man what I was capable of doing… without having to rely on his damn fire quirk.”
Fire? That’s why he was always glaring at me when we first met… He said I reminded him of his father. It must have triggered the trauma he went through, no fucking wonder.
“You see… I’m going to show him that I reject his power… and I can take first place without using it.” He started to walk away. “You and Winchester are obviously connected to All Might, even if you won’t tell me about it, but no matter how fiercely you come at me in the future, I will defeat you using only my right side. I can assure you of that.”
“Hey, wait!” Izuku took off after him and the two were out of earshot.
Bakugo clicked his tongue, pulling himself from my grip and walking away, leaving me alone in the silent, dark hallway. I’ve decided that I’ll do my best to protect Todoroki from now on. I’ll protect him and Izuku. And that twat, Bakugo.
