A Psalm For The Wild-Built by Becky Chambers
I loved everything about this little book. When I first started seeing this cover online I didn't pay too much attention, until the day in which I heard a bit more about it. When I heard not only it's a cozy scifi but the main character is a tea monk I knew I had to have this. The story follows Sibling Dex, a tea monk living in a world where robots have left humans. After awakening robots had decided to leave humans and retreat into nature, and when the story of the book takes place the world has already moved on and readjusted to the change. In their travels Dex will meet a wild robot, and I won't add much more because I don't want to spoil the story. This book healed my soul, it gave me so much existential peace, it was the perfect thing to pick up right now. It's a comforting and calming story that brought me so much joy over simple things, I loved every second I spent with it. I cannot wait to read the sequel and I am sure I will be rereading this in the future. It made into the list of my comfort books. I highly recommend it to everyone, even if scifi isn't usually your thing, if you want to spend your time with a book that will warm your heart and make you smile this is what you should be reading.

In a crazy reading explosion (that also prompted me to get back on Tumblr so I could loose myself among the other insane) Ive read the first seven Skulduggery Pleasant books in the span of three weeks.
Fortunately for my sanity, Im slowing down now.
But my point is, that these absolutely wild books still hold up far too well to be my "You arent allowed to read Harry Potter, read something else and make it your personality".
I remember a good amount of the plot, but that doesnt even matter.
I still friggin feel for these characters.
Ive had them live rent free in my head for literal years and now that Im discovering them again, they are still as cool and layered as they always were.
Anyways. I might be having an SP induced existential crisis about ever writing anything as good as that in my life.
Also.
Nefarian Serpine supremacy.
I dont care if he only ever appeared a few times.
Hes cool. Hes my childhood chosen villain. I absolutely will die on this hill. Darquesse is fine.
Serpine? Show stopping. Brilliant. Funny. Terrifying in the right way. We stan.
(This post is for me and for me alone. If anyone else reads this at all, I hope you have an amazing day. Read a book. Make yourself some tea. The world is good).

Watching a yt video and the girl said that she didn’t like the “instant love” in Delilah Green doesn’t care and she just doesn’t get it. Like falling in love from the first hi is literally the sapphic experience. This is one of the books I’ll never take criticisms for.

Did I dig out my copy of “Throne of Jade” despite moving tomorrow and wanting to revisit my comfort character, Temeraire?
Yes, I did.

Fangs by Sarah Andersen
I've had this graphic novel on my wishlist ever since I saw some illustrations online. It's an adorable book, that has definitely made its way into my comfort book pile. It's just a bunch of scenes from the lives of a vampire and a werewolf who are in a relationship, it's funny and cute, and there's not much else to say. Sarah Andersen has a great sense of humor and I love her illustrations. This is one of those graphic novels I know I will reread over and over. I really recommend it, you probably have seen some of the illustrations here on tumblr as well, it's definitely worth it. Also the book itself looks gorgeous with the cloth cover, it's really a nice object to own to be honest.

rewatching, rereading, or reliving your comfort series and then finishing it is the worst feeling. you start off alright, happy to be back. it feels as if you’re coming home, but by the time you end it, it’s like you’re leaving home. it feels so completely wrong but you cannot change the fact that the story is nearing the end. it creates an ache in your chest, you automatically miss it and wish to go back.

"Crush’ is too weak a word to describe how I feel. It doesn’t do you justice, but maybe it works for me. I am the one who is crushed. I’m crushed that we have only ever regarded each other as enemies. I’m crushed when the day ends and I haven’t said anything to you that isn’t cloaked in five layers of sarcasm."

Life’s Little Comforts
I saw someone else do this, so I had to try as well! 😊💜. some of these have two answers 😅…
Comfort movie:
The Ying Yang Master: Dream of Eternity.
I watched the movie when it first came out, and absolutely fell in love with it. It has a perfect mix of everything I like! So I always come back to it, just for a good rewatch.
Tumblr media
Comfort song:
Wishes (Instrumental) by Jamie Miller. (I think It’s from the snowdrop soundtrack?)
I stumbled upon this instrumental by complete accident, but since that moment it’s been a part of my everyday life. I put it on when I just need a calming sound that’s still enjoyable to listen too. An absolute beautiful piece of music.💜
Tumblr media
Comfort food:
Rouladen
it’s a German dish my dad makes from scratch. It’s thinly sliced beef wrapped around pickles, bacon and mustard. Usually served with pickled red cabbage. 😋
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Comfort place:
Simple answer, my house surrounded by my family. Nothing is better then that. 😊
Comfort book:
Now this is a tough one. My first thought was the Ascendence Series by Jennifer A Neilsen. I’ve read the entire series multiple times. It’s one of my absolute favourites! (Good whump and good story, highly recommend)
Tumblr media
But as of late, I’ve begun reading a book called The Uncertain Soilder by Karen Bass. Now I havnt read an actual book in quite a while, as I’ve always been to busy. Recently my mental health has taken a slight decline, so I’ve been taking care of myself a little more. And as reading used to be one of my favourite past times, I’ve started again! It’s gotten to the point that when ever I feel Even the slightest bit to anxious i just pick up the book and read a page. It helps so much! (I picked this book because: 1) it looks cool and 2) it’s set basically where I live! Which i find interesting. 😆)
Tumblr media
Comfort TV show:
Anything from the DMBJ Universe
They’re just amazing shows with so much beautiful bromance and SO MUCH WHUMP, that I’m constantly rewatching them. It always brings me comfort when it’s on😌
Tumblr media
Comfort trope(s):
oh man this is hard... I think my “comfort” tropes to read/watch would have to be seizures, fainting, and cradling. :) Classics!
Tagging:
@silversanimewhump @killerandhealerqueen @sasuga-whump @simply-whump @whumpetywhump @strandedchesspiece @whump-lover-and-reader and @i-love-me-a-lotta-whump  Of course if anyone else wants to join, be my guest!
