I’m so happy that he started to relax a little bit more. He’s been very stressed and hiding under the bed these past days on account of the loud scary fireworks :(

I’m looking for some advice, if anyone has any. CW/TW: cat death
We put one of our girls, Natasha (all black), to sleep on Dec. 29–she was very sick and getting sicker (she lost 6 pounds in a year, and the final pound in just six weeks). In the autopsy, our vet found out she had developed cancer in her small intestine, so letting her go was the best choice for her. She was 14, we’d had her for four and a half years, and she is so, so loved.
She has a litter mate, Jamaica (fluffy tuxedo), who is now an only cat in the house. So far, she’s been mostly okay, a little confused and wandering around the house like she’s looking for Nat, but we’re worried about how she’ll do in the next few weeks.
If anyone has had a similar situation—a bonded pair of litter mates where one died before the other—I would appreciate any advice you can share with us to help Jamaica through the transition.
