The first time that you called Tobio “baby,” he locked up as if you had insulted him. His hand, which you were used to seeing hitting effortless jump serves, setting quicks to Hinata, and generally being the dependable watchtower of Karasuno’s volleyball team, froze on your waist as if he had forgotten how to move his body.

His severe and intense gaze locked on yours as if he were attempting to solve a puzzle—as if he couldn’t believe that you had called him something so sweet and intimate. He gave you a curt nod as he dropped you off at your place, his hand lingering on your waist as he bid you goodnight and your name coming out softer than he intended.

He’d never admit it to anyone, but that night, he felt something stir deep inside his chest, unlike anything he’d ever felt. It wasn’t the same adrenaline he got from playing against hard teams, nor was it the same joy he felt when Karasuno proved victorious over other teams after hard-fought matches.

No, this, you, was different— something simultaneously died and was reborn inside of him when you called him “baby” that night, unlocking an emotion he never entirely understood when he heard others talk about it, but, in your presence, he understood it as if it were a practiced play.

You never pushed him to say it back, satisfied with relishing each time he said your name softly between sweet kisses or tender hugs. You weren’t here to change him. After all, you fell in love with Tobio because of how he is, not out of an aspiration to change him into anyone else. He just didn’t like to use pet names with you, you assumed, and didn’t push him for anything he wasn’t happy to give you.

So it’s safe to say that you didn’t see today coming. At first, you weren’t even really sure what he’d said. Tobio has a habit of mumbling, especially when coming down from the high of a hard match, so you could only make out bits and pieces of his greeting. You were too busy savouring how he held you as you jumped into his arms, congratulating him for a great match and winning against Karasuno’s opponent.

He gave you a tender smile, a rare sight for other people but a mainstay in your relationship, before giving you a soft kiss as he set you down gently. He had murmured your name, that’s for sure, but you couldn’t quite make it all out until you saw the look on the team’s face. Hinata’s and Tanaka’s faces, in particular, urged you to ask him as you gave Tobio a quizzical look.

“Sorry, what did you say, honey? I didn’t quite catch it,” You say, cocking your head softly to the side as his brows knit together, and a blush paints his cheeks at the name you called him.

“I.. didn’t say anything, I just said thank you—” he starts to say, his hand still resting easily on your waist, before he’s interrupted by Tanaka and Hinata running over to hug him, cooing about their friend’s heart finally growing three sizes.

“Wrong!” Tanaka yells as he hugs Tobio, circling his neck with one arm and patting his head with his other hand. “You totally just said ‘baby’! Who knew you had that sweetness inside you, Kageyama!” He teases as Hinata joins in.

“Yeah! You even said it all nice and stuff!” he adds, laughing with his senior as they mimic Tobio’s voice and cadence. “You were all like, ‘Hi, baby! Thanks so much, baby. I’m so happy you were here to watch! Mwah, mwah!!’” Both burst into laughter as they watched Tobio’s glare, waving off his muttered threat of a gruelling time next practice for them as they strode away.

The rest of the team lays off teasing him as they start walking to the locker room, but only after his seniors get their digs in. Azumane and Sugawara give him broad smiles with their thumbs up as they pass the two of you, and Tobio’s blush deepens.

“S-Sorry about them,” he says sheepishly, touching the back of his neck. "I guess it slipped out, and I’m sorry if that made you uncomfortable.” He apologizes genuinely as he looks into your eyes, hoping that his team didn’t scare you off.

You chuckle, circling your arms around his neck as you bring him down for a long kiss. “Don’t worry about it, baby,” you say, relishing the way he softens under the name, his features relaxing as he smiles against you. “You can pay me back by saying it to me so that I actually hear you this time,” you whisper, teasing him but also wanting to hear it clearly so you can store it in your memory.

He leans in close, the two of you the final people on the court as his team filters out completely, and he presses a tender kiss against your forehead. He chuckles softly at your request, an attempt to wave you off, but the glint in his eye tells you that he’s about to indulge you anyway, “Alright, alright.”

He gives you a slow, deep kiss, savouring the heat of your lips against his— a sensation he swears he will never get used to. It always sends that electric jolt throughout his body better than any perfect set or victory. He pulls back, soothing your hair and smiling, “Thank you for coming today, baby. I think I play better when I know you’re watching me.”

He presses a chaste kiss against your lips, “You’re like.. a guardian angel, baby. Did you know that? Maybe I should start calling you angel instead, hm?” He says against you, and his sudden shift in demeanour causes you to shiver.

You nod, running your hand through the hair on the nape of his neck. “I think that’d be great, baby,” You whisper, a blush painting your cheeks as the thought of him calling you “angel” crosses your mind.

“Is that so? Alright, ang—”

He’s cut short by Daichi’s voice ringing clearly in the empty gym as he opens the metal gym door, searching for Tobio. “Kageyama! Meeting!” He yells out from across the gym.

Tobio sighs, pulling away from you only slightly as he nods to his captain. “Okay, I’ll be there in a minute!”

“Now, Kageyama, we already waited five minutes for you. Let’s go!” Daichi calls, the heavy slam of the doors signalling his impatience.

Tobio leans in close, “Another time, baby.” He kisses your forehead as he starts to walk towards their locker room.

The door swings open again. “Kageyama, c’mon! Or do you want me to call you baby, too?” Daichi teases as he waits for Tobio at the door, watching him run up to his captain, apologizing half-heartedly for his tardiness.

You laugh as he teases him, knowing that Tobio’s doing his best not to glare at Daichi. You laugh even harder when you hear their bickering.

“None of you are allowed to call me baby! That’s special, and I’m not about to let you dumbasses ruin that name for me!”

“Alright, we’ll call you King again, how’s that sound?”

You shake your head as you gather your things, knowing that this teasing from the team is far from over as you make your way to wait outside their locker room— giddy at the idea of hearing him call you baby again.

Synopsis- How does your boyfriend react when you try to submerge yourself in the crowd knowing how many people adore him?

It wasn't often when you were free to go and watch your boyfriend's games. It wasn't like you didn't want to, it was just circumstances that almost never spoke in favor. Working several hours to support your family while still studying could be hard more than anyone can sometimes imagine. That's what made your boyfriend of two years like and eventually love you in the first place. You never complained. No matter how much you already had in your hand you always made time for everyone whenever they needed help. Always being there to listen to everyone's problems no matter if you have a dozen of your own. You were selfless. Too selfless. But that doesn't get Ushijima to deny that he got someone he never thought he could. Filling up the gap in his heart that even he didn't know existed. He was greatful for you and that you stood by his side and supported him at his worst. Being there by his side when things got too overwhelming even for him to handle. He loved you. In a way that you almost thought had already vanished from this era a long time along. And you loved him too. Greatly. More than any words can explain. He was the one who was there when no one was. Being selfless comes with its own set of cons after all. And sometimes you felt that you weren't enough somehow. That you were lacking in expressing on how much you actually love and adore him. So when you were offered a chance to visit one of your boyfriend's competitive matches before the national's, it wasn't long before your lips curved into a silent yes.

Here you were standing outside of the room where all the players of Wakatoshi's team were. He doesn't know yet. One of his teammates and a close friend of his talked about how you should visit the match and that how much it'll affect Ushijima and his spirits. So you decided to give him a surprise. You waited silently, leaning against a wall looking at your surroundings. It has been a long while since you've been to one of his games. Safe to say it has been more than half a year and that your boyfriend wouldn't even be having a hint of your arrival.

The door to the room opened as the announcement was made for them to arrive soon and they all started making their way out. Ushijima was the last one to exit, who seemingly didn't acknowledge your presence yet.

You made quite steps towards him before gently encircling your arms around his waist. He froze for a moment as if contemplating what's happening but soon enough, he was leaning back, feeling the presence that was oh so familiar to his being.

It took a good few moments before he turned around, and the first thing that happened was his lips coming in contact with your forehead. "I had no clue you'd come today. " Your arms were around him once more as his tightened around you, and you looked up at him, smiling, "Well, that's why we call it a surprise don't we?" He chuckled, his lips now coming in contact with your cheek for a fleeting kiss as he mumbled, "Thank you for coming." Your eyes softened as your hand went up to caress his cheek," It's what I'm supposed to do. Realized I haven't been the best at doing so in the past. Thought I would make up for the lost times." His forehead connected with yours, eyes closing as he released a shaky breath. One arm encircled around his neck as the other rubbed his back, another announcement was made for the players to gather in the court. "Do your best hm? Just like you always do... " You whispered before pulling back, motioning for him to go. "I'll be watching." You smiled reassuringly. His hand squeezed yours one last time before he left.

One of the best players, the one who had a great deal in making his team win was your boyfriend, Ushijima Wakatoshi. You watched his every move, cheering for him in your own little way and before long the match ended, announcing their victory. The crowd went into an uproar, girls chanting the players name like a prayer as the said group went to meet their admirers. 'He has so many people rooting for him, loving him.' You smiled distantly but your expression turned into a surprised one when none other than your boyfriend emerged from admidst the crowd of bustling fans with numerous gifts and flowers in their hands for him. He made his way towards you, arms encircling around you as you were surprised at his sudden actions. Your boyfriend wasn't someone who was the PDA type much so you never made that kind of advances but today somehow felt different. "Ushi?" You questioned but all you got was a silent kiss on your lips.

"I love you. My one and only. "

How they would react to you walking out mid-conversation

Haikyu boys x GN reader

WARNINGS: none

SUNA

Stunned. He never thought that people would actually do things like this. He looks in front of him just trying to process what has just happened. Till he finally realized that you had just walked to the bathroom. Though he is still stunned and asks you about it when you get out.

OSAMU

He just follows you. You weren't arguing or anything, just walked away while talking. Assuming that you needed something from another room, conversation on the go was his idea. You ended up in the living room, starting in the kitchen and then the bedroom. Still talking the whole time.

ATSUMU

Didn't even realize that you had walked out of the room. He just talks until he notices that you had left and goes looking for you. When he does find you he would ask why you left and if he did something bad or if he upset you.

SAKUSA

He would just watch you walk out of the room. He would assume that you just wanted some space or that you just remembered something that you needed to do. After a few minutes, he would probably go looking for you and make sure that you were okay.

BOKUTO

He would either grab you or pull you into a hug. Maybe even hold your hand. He would see you going to walk out of the room and just come up behind you and wrap you in a hug and finish his sentence. Then ask if he did something to upset you or if you have something on your mind that you wanted to talk about.

Hihi! I was reading through all your Haikyu dad fics. I love them so much btw! I was wondering if you considered doing on for Daichi? How he would react once he found out reader is pregnant? Canonically he's a cop so maybe he gets worried about how dangerous his job is and if he can handle the extra stress? He gets distant from reader because of it and doesn't wanna add any extra stress to the pregnancy. It could def be angst to fluff.

When Daichi first became a cop he hadn’t thought anything of it, it was a nice job that paid well. After you two got married however, was when he started to become concerned.

His head would swirl with thoughts of you getting injured or living alone because he’d been injured with his job, and after you two had found out you were pregnant the fear only grew.

Today however, while he was directing traffic working as a crossing guard, before he could direct any traffic someone had almost run him over. And for a moment Daichi let the shock rush over him before calling in the liscense plate. Thankfully he was unscathed and someone else offered to take over his position.

When he’d gotten home you were next to the kitchen island a big mixing bowl sat infront of you.

You smiled sweetly at him and when he got over to you, he didn’t hug you like normal, he couldn’t what if that guy got arrested and came for you because you were the most precious thing to Daichi.

So for the next month the process proceeded. He’d broken up your schedule so much you’d find yourself crying to sleep as he’d stay in the living room late at night watching trashy television in his recliner which he’d only bought to rock your baby in, you miss the way he’d rub your belly at night helping to soothe the soreness and calm down your baby girl’s sharp kicks to the ribs.

One of these days however, you’d had a little scare, you’d thought you’d had an early contraction thankfully it was just a Braxton hicks contraction, still to be cautious you’d had a friend drive you to the hospital, you never called Daichi, he hadn’t talked to you since last week.

“Y/n? You’re here?” Daichi sighs out in relief as you walk into the house he holds you tight and your brows furrow, you place your hand on his back.

“I was worried” you can see the relief in his eyes.

“You were worried?” It’s than he realizes how horribly he’s messed up.

It took an incredibly long time to forgive him for ignoring you like that but inevitably you did.

When you gave birth to your precious little girl Daichi relized than that while yes his job comes with risks, that everything does even what he thinks will protect his family comes with risks and he’s happy he was able to relize that before it was to late to fix his family.

He smiles softly at his baby who stares up at him with her big brown eyes in her cute little bear onesie he’d boughten.

Blue lock headcanons: jumping on the field after they won a hard match.

Micheal kaiser

A loud and high whistling sound echoed in the stadium, he won, he didn't bother a single second to look at you. He was the one inviting you to jump on the field, you did, sprinting toward him, surprisingly fast, security ran after but you couldn't care. His eyes lit up at seeing you actually saw his sign, once your skin made contact with his he wrapped his arms around you spinning you around happily. Security guards stopped running as they reached, one grasped your hand pulling you away, but micheal pulled you even tighter and took a few steps back. Sending one of these glares to the guards, you cupped his face, both your gaze locked into eachother, he smiled, a genuine one, both of your faces inches away. The crowd feel silent went there was no distance between your lips and his. But they started cheering again, his teammates were like, ok bitch ok. They knew he wasn't single, but genuine love was surprising when we talked micheal kaiser.

Itoshi Sae ( in this u-20 won agaonst blue lock eleven)

He saw you running in his arms, when your arms made their way around his waist he just wasn't able to react. When the security grabbed you to drag you away, that what it took for him to quickly wrap hid arms around you lift you up, away from the guard grip. He send them a glare, you wrapped your legs around his waist earning a little blush but he held you tight. His attention turned back to you, he held you up with one arm cupping your face, dragging your face closer to his, connecting your lips in a swift movement. He might have seen you before the match he already missed this feeling, it lit up everything in him. Everyone fell silent, the crowd, his teammates even the commentators. The blue lock players also watched in surprise, from what they've seen on the field, he did not seem as gentle as he was with you currently.

You brushed his hair, closing the distance of your lips and his ear, whispering sweet words." You did so well, my champion" he blushed at your words, turning his head in hope you wouldn't see the blush creeping on his cheeks.

Julian loki

The man stood tall on the field proud of his achievement, the other team seemed devastated. His attention was taken away from the crowd at the feeling of your arms wrapping tightly around him. He flashed an even brighter smile towards you, lifted you eith ease and spun you around in the air." Im so glad u were able to make it!" He said with enthusiasm in his clear voice. He lowered you to the ground and cupped your face with both of his hand, covering your cheeks whole, leaving a kiss on your nose, forehead, moles everything he could reach. He didn't care about the papparazzi, fans and all that, he only cared about you right now. For him, the whole disappeared right now, including his team and the loud cheering, it was all about you now.

Pablo cavazos

He scored the last goal, his usual emotionless but cute expression. You couldn't hold it, when he turned to see you in the crowd he was welcomed with a sudden hug and kiss, security running behind. He melted in your actions, melting into the kiss you so happily offered. His arms wrapped around your hips keeping you the closest he could to himself. He kept his eyes just slightly opened and dodged the security who now stopped chasing you were flabbergasted. Pablo couldn't care at the moment, he just let himself tense down and welcome your affections, relaxing his whole body against yours. His hand made its way to your ass, signaling you something, you gladly jumped and he catched you, he felt like you were much closer. When you both parted, your foreheads rested against eachother's, staring deep into the others eyes. He loved this kind of moments, when it was only you and him....

A/n: Don't make fun of Y/n lmao, I would react the same way.

Feat: Atsumu, Suna, Sakusa (aka the bad s/o squad)

HAIKYU!! (ハイキュー!!)

ATSUMU

Saying that Atsumu had a bad day would be an understatement, he had a horrible day. The team lost the match they had prepared so hard for, his car broke down mid-way to home and you were talking non-stop.

"It's okay you will do better next time," you patted his back, he moved away at your touch which made you frown.

"Leave me be Y/N, 'm in the mood," he groaned angrily. A sense of dread was settling in your stomach, Atsumu never talks to you in this way.

"Tsumu, wanna talk about it? I'm here to listen," you said softly.

"Stop it!" he said while raising his voice a bit.

"Sumu it's just a match, besides you will have so many m--"

"Just a match?" he shouted making you flinch at his sudden outburst.

"No Sumu I was saying that you will have many-" you weren't able to complete your sentence.

"Ya realize how hard I worked for this just a match? I spent months! While all ya did was go to that pathetic job and lead your pathetic life!" He yelled angrily and as soon as the words left his mouth, his eyes widened.

You couldn't help the sobs that left your throat, tears cascading down.

Atsumu's chest tightened at your reaction and without thinking, he wrapped his muscular arms tightly around you, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it, I don't know what I was thinking."

"I was just looking after you," you cried out.

"I know, I know, ya deserve so much better," he whispered, and you would never know that he cried that day too.

Suna

You had reorganized Suna's room to give him a surprise. Got new curtains, and some new plants and cleaned the scattered stuff.

"So...do you like it?" you said with a big smile on your face that quickly faded after seeing Suna's reaction.

"What the hell, why did you change the way my room was?" he boomed loudly.

"You don't like it?" you asked as your voice broke.

"Of course not! It looks like a vegetable garden!" he shouted pointing accusingly at the plants.

"I-it's fine Rin, I will rearrange it the way it was," you said holding back the tears.

"Whatever," he muttered while leaving the room and going out of the house.

"Y/N?" he asked softly to the burrito curled up in blankets. He came back home after 2hrs, cooling himself down when the consequences of his actions and the guilt set in

"Rin?" you said groggily, wiping your tears, "you are back!" you cried out.

"What happened?" he questioned sitting next to you, heartbreaking at the sight of your swollen eyes.

"I thought you left forever because I messed your stuff..." you cried, lips trembling.

"Oh, love," he cupped your face and kissed you, "I would never leave and I am sorry for being an asshole you worked so hard to make me happy, let's put all those plants back after you rest, yeah?"

Sakusa

Sakusa was practising with Osamu and Atsumu and you had come to drop off lunch.

"Hey! I have lunch!" you declared, holding up the bento boxes.

"Uwahh! Omi-kun, you are so lucky!!"Atsumu exclaimed taking the box from your hands hurriedly.

"This is actually so much better than our shop," Osamu told, "send me the recipe later."

You smiled and gave the box to Sakusa who had a scowl adorning his face.

"Something wrong Omi?"

"Damn Y/n you are so clingy that you found an excuse to come see me even during practice," he spat and your heart dropped.

Atsumu and Osamu looked at each other and you suddenly felt ashamed.

"I just thought you would be hungry..." you whispered as tears welled in your eyes, "I'll leave...enjoy your food." You said quickly running out, not wanting to cry in front of the twins.

"You are such a douchebag," Atsumu sneered feeling bad for you.

one of the best ways to personally understand and write Akaashi and Bokuto’s characters would be to look at official material outside of the anime and manga. By that I mean I really do encourage:

1. Watching the stage plays - it helps a lot to understand Bokuto and Akaashi’s mannerisms and gestures. Even if those two are in the background, it’s nice to observe how they act and the difference between their actions as well, more so how they react to things (example would be Bokuto screaming and hollering when Karasuno scores a point against Inarizaki over Akaashi who simply claps)

2. Seiyuu events - these are certain events that are hosted with the voice actors of the characters in Haikyu!! Often, there’s an extra segment where the seiyuus voice their characters in a situation or story in front of a crowd, it adds unto understanding how Bokuto and Akaashi speak. Considering most, if not at least 75%, of the dialogue in Haikyu!! is centered on volleyball, it sort of difficult to write for the HQ characters when you don’t quite know how they would speak in regular conversations about mundane things, Bokuto and Akaashi being no exception. The seiyuu events particularly the segments where they voice are a really good way of getting a vibe of how they would talk and what they talk about even (especially when the dialogue is not part of the anime/manga)

3. Audio drama - similar to two, audio dramas on the other hand are recorded audios of the characters voiced once again by the seiyuus. It helps in understanding how their dialogues works and how they speak. From what I know, there’s only one Fukurodani audio drama but you can get a good grasp of the way Bokuto and Akaashi bounce at each other in terms of conversation.

4. Haikyu-bu - Although it’s not written by Furudate-sensei, it is still considered official material under the Haikyu!! franchise which makes the dialogue, actions and personality still tied and true to how Bokuto and Akaashi act in general and again, good resource to understand how they act and speak.

this can honestly go for any Haikyu character! I just wanted to ramble a bit and help anyone in case they want to have other source materials to better their characterization/ dialogue for them, even I’m still trying my best to fine tune the way I characterize Bokuto and Akaashi <33
