sister michael so reminds me of the nuns who taught me. they're tough and sometimes a little harsher than a woman who dedicated her life to god should be but they're also wonderful people. i had a nun teacher who was 60 years old and would do handstands. another nun (also in her 60s) told me god was nonbinary. another was really mean and made me cry. (so did the handstand nun.) while the catholic girls school is The Catholic Experience, the school wouldn't have been the same for me or the derry girls without at least one nun who seemed to have sprung up out of the ground fully formed, ageless.

Kurt is a mutant who was born to mystique who looks a LOT like a devil (technically is half one but that cannon truth isn’t real go back to bed), his mother dropped him off a cliff when he was born and he was picked up by a Romani group/circus (fuck old comics man) however he then narrowly escaped being sold to a freak show and found himself in a small German town. There he met a kind priest, who showed him God, and he quickly grew attached to the idea- However, it wasn’t long before people began labeling him a demon and soon the whole town was against him with pitchforks and fire. Cornered and injured, Kurt thought this might be the end for him- maybe he would see heaven so long after finding it- but he was then saved by Charles Xavier who invited him to the X-Men. AND ITS BEEN SO MANY YEARS AND HE HAS BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH THERE. SO MUCH. SO GOD DAMN MUCH. BUT THE MOST AAAA THING TO ME CONCERNING HIS FAITH HE WHEN HE LITERALLY DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN BUT THEN BECAUSE OF DRAMA WITH HIS FATHER HAD TO BRING HIS FRIENDS IN WITH HIM FROM THE BEYOND. THEN WITH ALOT OF TROUBLE THEY FOUGHT HIS FATHER AND THE ONLY WAY KURT SAW TO STOP HIM WAS IN A MOVE THAT STRIPPED THEM BOTH OF THEIR SOULS AND PUT THEM BACK ON EARTH. SO KURT CANONICALLY HAS NOW LOST HIS ABILITY FOR ETERNAL PEACE, LOST HIS VERY SOUL, TO SAVE PEOPLE- AND ALSO TOLD NO ONE NOT EVEN HIS GAY LOVER WOLVERINE.

Nightcrawler is a mutant vigilante who looks like a classical demon. He can’t even go to church without people panicking and trying to exorcize him. Despite it all, he’s so full of faith and hope and compassion, and he wants to believe the best of everyone. Also, he’s bffs with an extremely angry Jewish sword lesbian. That has nothing to do with anything, but it’s important to me that you all know that.

What if you were a devout christian and literally looked like the devil? He nearly became the pope, which was a plot by some supervillains that also involved faking a rapture? There is nothing like comics I swear to god.

A catholic who is half demon I don’t think I can better explain a struggle than that. But his character is so relatable to people who feel unwelcome with their congregation because of something that is a part of them but still feeling a connection to the faith. Kurt actively engaged in his faith and shares how his faith helps him through all the things he has faced in life and how he found a home with those of the church who leave the judging to God.

so they made kurt a priest briefly before deciding to retcon it, resulting in nightcrawler actually being part of a plan by villains to promote him to pope then reveal to the world that the pope is a demon. wild.

Request: your hcs for how comics Pyro and show Morph get along because I think it would epic (and involve a lot of hilarious Shaw impressions)

I am rubbing my hands together with glee, thank you for this ask! I'm assuming this is a Krakoa-type situation where everyone is just sort of hanging out and technically on the same "team."

I think initially, they would not get along. Pyro would find Morph annoying and obnoxious; Morph, whose only experience as a "bad guy" was under severely traumatic brain-washing, would be put off by Pyro being a gleeful and mostly unrepentant murderer.

Then they get drunk together, and that's really all it would take. Pyro can be very personable and chatty, Morph does hilarious impressions, they bond over whichever mutant they hate the most. I'll say Sebastian, because I think Morph would hate Shaw just as much as Pyro, and because it's what we both want to see.

Shinobi starts paying Morph to perform regular Sebastian impressions, it's good for his mental health. Morph is like, "I kind of feel like a court jester here, but what the hell, you are paying me thousands of dollars and also fuck that guy."

Sebastian would offer to pay Morph to sit in on unimportant Council meetings wearing his shape, but realizes that Morph would be an absolute troll, vote against Sebastian's interests and find ways to humiliate him. He pays Copycat instead.

Pyro asking Morph ALL the questions about shapeshifting that he always wanted to ask Mystique but was too intimidated because Mystique has no patience for that kind of thing. In return, Pyro does cool fire tricks for Morph.

They absolutely do karaoke together. Pyro can sing, Morph can sound like whoever they want to.

They both have zero good decision making skills while drunk (and Pyro's decision making skills aren't great while sober either) so there are some epic shenanigans. I think Morph is slightly more responsible about not committing crimes and will draw the line at hurting people. They would, however, help Pyro rescue abused animals from shitty owners.

Morph also uses shapeshifting to walk right into Shaw's properties as Sebastian and help Pyro steal things. Sebastian is almost impressed, this is more planning and subtlety than Pyro usually displays.

This is reeeeaaally self-indulgent headcanon now, but I can picture Morph and Pyro both talking about gender roles and feeling "trapped" by everything that is expected of masculinity. You've got a nonbinary shape-shifter (who mostly presents in a "masculine" way) and a (gay) male romance novelist who likes to dress fancy, I think they would both be a bit frustrated by all the unspoken social rules about how a man is "supposed" to act. It takes a LOT of alcohol to get them to that point of vulnerability, though, so the conversation is near incoherent. I think they are also both able to have this kind of conversation because they don't have much of a connection besides drinking buddies, so they don't actually care that much what the other person thinks of them.

Morph is kind of envious to realize that Pyro and Avalanche are a couple, like "Why can't my ambiguously homoerotic best buddy also be my boyfriend?"

They might actually bang? I don't know, this might just be me shipping Pyro with every male or "male-presenting" character. But X-Men 97 has heavily implied that Morph has a thing for Wolverine, and is therefore attracted to men. I don't know if they are a one-night stand kind of person, but eh. Let Morph get laid, because we all know Wolverine will never actually sleep with them on the show.

Wolverine is all "Morph, stay away from that guy, he's a sleazebag and a bad influence, and Pyro if you hurt them I will be popping a claw through your skull."

forgot to say i technically loosely started deep space 9 this last week, which is to say i was forced at GUNPOINT to watch like 4-5? episodes. just kidding i was watching with a friend. but since i don't know when i will continue i should say what i thought so far. obviously there are 7 seasons so these are very loose first impressions.

sisko reminds me a lot of holt from brooklyn 99 in his mannerisms and the way he talks, like very calm and rationale in his speech but also very capable of being a little bitch. i like it. his son is just a little boy.

quark is funny i like him. love a guy who just wants to make a quick buck but also....there's a heart in there

idk how to feel about odo so far but it might be bc they haven't really nailed his makeup yet so he looks like hes dying all the time. so far he's a little boring but i know it will get better. also he had the mystique effect on me where i kept being like ah they got me again! those damn shapeshifters

dax hasn't really done anything yet but she's soooooo pretty....she kind of looks like hayley atwell to me does anyone else see that? also her trans nonbinary gay lesbian bi slay is so real

kira seems like a little too similar to ro laren at the moment which i imagine is because of a lack of bajoran characters in star trek up to this point. i can see some differences and i know the further the show goes, the more kira will feel like her own person. i like her so far

bashir is an odd little man. he recently got hit on by a cardassian i don't remember the name of but good for him. he deserves it. you go my weird little guy. i technically met him already in the tng crossover episode when he was like data can i chew your wires or whatever he said

o'brien is there which is so funny to have him be such a central and main character i'm so used to him coming up so sporadically. slay king.

overall i like what i've seen so far which obviously is not much but i'm afraid i will forget all of this if i don't say it now. the concept of them being in one stationary location is pretty interesting as well, i'm curious how that will change the structure of the show -- although so far it's been fairly regular. the wormhole stuff is a little odd, and as usual i'm constantly confused on the politics of everything but i have no real complaints

They didn't realize that the others would be hurt by this, and apologized and felt regretfull when they realized and let them go. ""Char Aznable is a pedo."" This comes from a line in Char's Counterattack (a deeply beloved film in the franchise) where another character- Gyunei Guss- tries to impress a girl. Or, rather, drive her away. I know, it's complicated but let me explain; I'm going to have to break down a character's major arc across two TV shows and a film, please follow me here, I'm going to try to abridge this. Char Aznable is to Gundam as Darth Vader is to Star Wars. Famous characters who wear helmets and have an aura of mystique to them. Char Casval Deikun, the son of a dead politician who took revenge on the family that assassinated his father by assuming a new identity...which is Char Aznable. Over the course of Mobile Suit Gundam (aka 1st Gundam, aka Double-Oh Seventy Nine (0079) after the year it takes place in) he meets a young woman named *Lalah Sune.* Char has been on a rage bender and has lost himself in his revenge, killing even a dear friend (and possible former lover??) in the process, and she...makes him feel something. The two begin fighting alongside each other in the war until she tragically dies in battle. Somethingsomething the horrible interpersonalness of war...anyways, Char was MESSED UP by her death. Like, it permanently emotionally stunted him, and he never really got over her. It's worth noting that Char was 19 and she was 17. Keep this in mind. Char stumbles through life (another alias, Quattro Bageena; yes seriously) disaffected, unable to form meaningful romantic relationships, and only really feeling alive in the heat of battle. Flash forward 14 years. After....A LOT of other crap has happened, Char is not doing too hot mentally and can really only focus on his rival Amuro Ray (I've kept him out of this so far because bringing him in would make it messier and harder to explain to a newcomer, but I have to now). Char has a lover named Nanai Miguel at this point, but he picks up a disaffected youth by the name of Quess Paraya. Quess is ignored by her father, who is too busy banging prostitutes, thus she is constantly acting out to seek attention. Quess, mind, is 14. Quess joins Char's faction because she feels more wanted there. When, truth is, Char- who can only really view people as tools to be used- sees untapped potential and a new weapon. Quess begins hanging off of his arms, spending all her time with her...but he's...distant. He never looks at her directly. Any physical contact is initiated by her, and he only says the slightest thing to gently push her in the direction he needs her to go. So, we come to the infamous scene. Where Gyunei says, ""Some pilots say he's into young girls."" Gyunei is a pilot under Char's wing, one of his best...but Gyunei resents Char because of his inferiority complex. Gyunei is trying to drive a wedge between Quess- who blindly and naively follows Char- and his boss. Which...is honestly skeevy on its own, he's 19 and, as stated before, Quess is 14. He's DESPERATELY making passes at her, it's really pathetic. And this line, this one line, has lived on in infamy because people are SO CERTAIN that it's true when it was just something a character pulled out of his ass in an attempt to pick up a pre-teen! It's worth nothing that earlier in the film, Nanai was all-up-ons Char in nothing but a bathrobe, her breasts almost spilling out...and that DID NOTHING FOR HIM. If Char isn't even interested in his own lover, why would he care about some kid he picked up to use as a cudgel in his war? His last words in the film are lamenting how Lalah could have 'been a mother to him', which is its own can of worms, but we're not here to analyze that. People often point back to Char dating Lalah as evidence of this when the age gap between him and Lalah was perfectly normal. So, in conclusion: Yes, Char is an emotionally stunted sociopathic weirdo....but he's not a pedo.

What inspired you to make this blog? It's something rarely talked about and an interesting theme to discuss, so I ask out of curiosity.

Well part of it was because anti-feminist women, and especially anti-suffrage women, are rarely discussed and I wanted to make their stories more well known and accessible, so I would say that’s the main inspiration for this blog. The other part was just me wanting to have somewhere to collect anti-feminist information so I can come back to it as I work on future papers, since I want to specialize in American women’s history.

If you want my origin story, that starts when I took my first women’s history course not long ago. Before it started, I was talking to the professor who taught it (who has been discussed here before) and she told me the first question she asked in that class was “are you a feminist?”, to which the answer had to be yes, especially if you’re a woman, because if you were getting an education, you held some feminist beliefs even if you weren’t a fan of second or third wave feminism.

Obviously, that rubbed me the wrong way, so I thought about it and did some reading to get the perspective of the past’s anti-feminist women. From that I found my answer to the question (no) and was able to defend my position, which is how I got 10/10 on a discussion where I had been initially set up to fail. That was not the end of the issue though. Throughout the course I had to sit through feminist perspectives of history (and sometimes really dumb conversations about things like “nonbinary women”), which annoyed me because, as seen in my peers, if you only get that perspective you don’t really understand women’s history, you only really know feminist history. My professor would teach that women were allowed into higher education because of feminism, when that wasn’t true: anti-feminist women opened up those opportunities first. She would say Wyoming was the first to allow women to vote because they needed more settlers there and that would appeal to women when the story is much more complicated: the Wyoming legislature tried to revoke suffrage, but was vetoed by the governor, and then almost overrode that veto, but failed by one vote. She talked about how it was housewives inspired by The Feminine Mystique that started second wave feminism, but ignored the fact that the other half of American housewives hated that book and killed an amendment to the Constitution. The failure of the ERA was covered in about three sentences in the readings:

All in all, I care about teaching a wholistic view of history—especially women’s history. This blog is an extension of that purpose and I hope that by understanding the beginnings of anti-feminism the feminist monopoly over women’s history will die out. If we really care about women, and more importantly education, we will tell people the whole story rather than what we would prefer them to know.
