Other Ever Afters: New Queer Fairy Tales by Melanie Gillman
a book from one of my favorite comic authors here on tumblr, @/melgillman! if you've been around this site for a while, you've likely already seen four of the comics she's published in this book: The Fish Wife, Sweet Rock, Hsthete and The King's Forest. def give this book a read if you liked any of those!!
like all comic anthologies, its comics weren't all made equal. i think the four i listed above stood stronger on their own than the newer works made for this book. working under the limits of an image post count and narrow work time frame (even if gillman didn't follow the 24 hour rule to the letter) means you must maximize telling your story in the most efficient way possible to get it across the nebulous audience of the internet. comics made for a published book don't have those limits, which is why i think the newer works didn't have the same impact on me.
this book was still an enjoyable read regardless, and i'm excited to read more of melanie gillman's future works! she's got a lot more work on her tumblr, so check that out with her book as well.

I don't know what I miss more, having free time to draw or these fellas
The raven cycle!!!!
Oh I love these guys. Everything about these books, I want to draw them soooo much more (I probably will)!!
Guys I'm back-
It has been a nightmare lately this is the only thing I managed to draw in weeks? Finals and uni stuff that's taking all of my time and energy, slowly turning me into a cafeinated slug (worst part is caffeine doesn't even have an effect on me? I only drink coffee for the TASTE can you imagine).
Anyway the rush won't be over until end of January but hopefully I'll be able to ignore the stress and draw anyway :)

we often talk about how absurd it was for andrew, five feet tall and a single man, to decide he could take on an entire mafia, but what makes it even more ridiculous is that he was 20. I'm twenty and i've never felt more like a baby in my entire life, but andrew joseph minyard, who's not legally allowed to drink and has never had to deal with taxes because nicky's probably the one to do them, took one look at kevin and neil and considered he was strong enough to deal with the fucking mafia

The Trophy Hunter
Very proud of this piece and that I finally managed to finish it :) Most of my artworks just need the right time.
I guess my interpretation of 'Ego death' :)

Funny thing a crown can do
It makes one think they're better than you
They think their circlet makes them God
That they won't be burried beneath the sod
So remind them with a blade or mace
That they lack any divine grace.

Having a bad day. Passing the evening painting with my gouache to settle down. And playing with TAD. Here is the fox for Madeleine, the "hidden" deer for Joey. And the spirit of the forest for both of them.
I am currently inspired by their gig in the forest.
