Upon their arrival, a symphony of aromas wafted from the colorful stalls overflowing with tropical fruits, exotic spices, and artisanal products, accompanied by the sounds of vendors calling out their enticing offers. The intoxicating scents of local cuisine mingled with the spicy aromas of fresh herbs and the delightful fragrance of freshly caught fish. The stalls were adorned with piles of golden mangoes, juicy pineapples, and vibrant-toned bananas. Exotic-shaped vegetables and brightly colored spices added vibrancy to this lively and colorful market.
The merchants were smiling warmly, offering samples of exquisite fruits and traditional seafood dishes. The air was filled with lively conversations and a gentle ambient music played by a local band.
Kit took a deep breath. "It's incredible, Jade. A real little tropical paradise."
Jade nodded, joyful. "There are so many delicious choices. I often come here with my sister or my mother to shop for the restaurant. Come, let's pick out some treats for you."
Jade was warmly greeted by all the merchants as they made their way through the bustling crowd. They stopped here and there, tasting pieces of fruit and chatting with the sellers.
They found themselves in front of a seafood stall, where large, freshly caught, succulent red prawns were displayed and ready to be enjoyed. Jade made a joke that made Kit laugh. "That's Scorpia."
She chatted with every vendor, delighted to see her and curious to meet her new friend.
Spice Vendor: "Jade, sweetheart, how are you? Need some of our magical spices today?"
— Absolutely, Juan. Let me introduce you to Kit; she'll be working at the restaurant. I'm introducing her to our flavors."
— Welcome, young lady. If our Jade is sharing this moment with you, it means you mean a lot to her."
— Don't mind Kit, Juan loves to joke around
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and Kit was feeling more and more integrated into the island community thanks to Jade.
They continued their stroll and stopped in front of the fruit vendor.
— Kit, let me introduce you to Lucia; she grows the best mangoes on the island.
— It's good to see you, Jade. Who is this lovely friend ?
— Oh, let me introduce you to Kit. Our bartender
— Welcome to our place. A friend of Jade's is already a friend to all of us.
— Thank you, Lucia.
Jade's reputation and kindness seemed to have a positive impact on everyone she met. Kit felt fortunate to be accompanied by someone so well-liked and kind.
— You see, Kit, each person here is like a piece of the puzzle that makes up this island. That's what makes it so special.
— Lucia handed a mango to Kit. "Let me offer you one of our best mangoes. They're sweet and delightfully juicy. Perfect for a day as hot as this one."
Kit accepted timidly. "Thank you.
She took a bite of the ripe fruit, savoring the sweet and juicy taste. A trickle of juice ran down her chin, which she quickly wiped away with the back of her hand.
Jade grabbed a paper napkin that Lucia handed her and approached Kit gently. "Let me help you."
With tenderness, she gently wiped the mango juice from her friend's face. Their eyes briefly met. In that moment, Kit felt the weight of her grief transform into a deep connection with Jade.
Feeling a bittersweet embarrassment, she sought an escape from this sudden intimacy and turned to Lucia, who was waiting with an amused smile.
— It's really delicious. Thank you.
She was trying to regain her emotional stability, refusing to forget Emma and the real reasons for her visit.
— Ready to head back ?" Jade asked with a smile.
They left the local market. Kit carried with her the taste of the island and the excitement of this morning filled with discovery.
*******
They returned to the apartment, arms laden with bags brimming with fresh and assorted products.
— Thank you, Jade, for taking me to the market.
— You're welcome. I loved showing you this part of our life," she replied while placing the bags on the table.
They began to unpack the groceries.
— These mangoes are truly delicious," Kit exclaimed as she took the fruits and placed them in a bowl.
— Oh, absolutely. We make some excellent cocktails with.
They continued to unpack groceries while chatting. Kit was feeling more and more comfortable with Jade. This day had created a special bond.
As they worked side by side, their hands inadvertently brushed against each other. A shiver ran down Kit's spine. Her fingers made contact with Jade's, and this simple touch triggered a flood of emotions in her. On one hand, there was this feeling of closeness with Jade; all her movements were filled with tenderness. But at the same time, there was this pain that overwhelmed her. And this simple sensation of Jade's hand, though soothing, brought back the presence of Emma.
She quickly withdrew her hand and averted her gaze, hoping that Jade wouldn't notice the emotional turmoil raging within her. The two friends resumed their tasks, but Kit remained acutely aware of the connection, both comforting and painful, growing between them.
It was at that moment that Jade's phone rang. Kit felt relieved.
"Yes, Mom. Everything's fine. I was at the market with Kit... Alright, I'll tell her and I'll join you"
She hung up and looked at her friend. "I'm sorry. It seems my mom needs me. I have to go."
— Of course.
— However, you're eating with us. Don't forget your itinerary.
— Oh, I don't want to impose, Jade. It's really kind of her but…
— You know, sharing a meal at our place is a way of showing affection.
Grateful for the warm welcome, Kit gave Jade a sincere smile.
— Thank you for making me feel at home here.
— Well, you're here for a while, so you might as well feel comfortable.
Kit hesitated for a moment before speaking.
— Jade, thank you for showing me this beautiful part of your world.
— I hope you'll let me into yours as well.
Jade left, leaving Kit with mixed feelings of gratitude and pain.
She found herself alone, emotionally lost, her thoughts centered on Emma.
"Everything I experience here is for you. My heart belongs to you," she whispered, her voice filled with tenderness and pain.
*******
— Why did you bring Kit to our secret refuges! You know they're reserved for our family! » Scorpia exclaimed furiously.
— I understand, but you should have seen the wonder in her eyes. It was like thousands of stars lighting up," Jade spoke calmly and serenely.
— Oh, no, don't tell me...," Scorpia interrupted, her anger mixed with concern. "Pull yourself together; you're headed for disaster. There's no place for you in her life or her heart, for that matter!
— I just want to be there for her, nothing more.
— What will you do when she leaves? Have you forgotten the pain Grace caused you?
— Kit has nothing in common with Grace.
— How can you be so sure? You don't even know her!
— Cause she came to honor the memory of her lost love. When she talks about it, you can feel so much passion but also immense sorrow.
Scorpia's sharp words awakened an old pain in Jade, the memory of the day Grace broke her heart. The recollection was painful.
*******
The two sisters were sitting on the beach that bordered the family restaurant, watching the waves break on the shore. The wind gently blew through their hair.
Scorpia sensed the sadness in her sister's eyes. "Is everything okay?"
Jade stared at the horizon, then suddenly burst into tears, crying her heart out. It was a deep pain she was expressing, her breath hitching between each shed tear.
Scorpia held her in her arms. "What happened ?" She asked the question even though she knew the answer.
— Grace left me. She claimed she found someone else who could give her more than I ever did.
Scorpia was both deeply saddened and incredibly angry at the person who had just broken her sister's heart. She couldn't hide her emotions.
— I never liked her. If I ever run into her, I… (She held her sister tightly, as if trying to contain her anger.) I'm sorry you have to go through this. I'm here, little sister. I won't let anyone hurt you again. I just hope you won't let this wound stop you from loving again. You deserve to be loved the way you love others.
Scorpia's anger pulled Jade out of her sad memories.
*******
The tension was palpable between the two sisters.
"I haven't forgotten, Scorpia, what you told me after you comforted me," Jade said.
Melissa arrived at that moment, putting an end to the argument.
"Kit has just arrived."
Jade joined her, leaving her sister with her mother.
— Honey, you shouldn't have brought up Grace's name. Arguing with your sister won't help and won't change her mind. She's an adult and will make her own decisions.
— An adult!!!! With her crazy dreams!!! And... She shouldn't be getting attached to Kit like this, in such a short time. Mom, we all know that sooner or later Kit will leave, and Jade will be hurt. (Scorpia couldn't contain her anger.)
— Feelings aren't something we can control, and they're not limited by time. Sometimes, it sweep us up instantly, without warning. That's the magic of human connections. Neither you nor I can predict what tomorrow will bring. (Melissa spoke to her daughter, her gaze soothing, hoping to calm her anger.)
Scorpia let out a sigh. "I've always been there to fix her mistakes, but this time, I don't think I can."
Melissa placed a comforting hand on her daughter's shoulder. "Scorpia, my honey, you can't control your sister's feelings. Whatever happens, it's important that we're there for her, that we support her, even if we don't fully understand her. Let's go eat."
"I have things to do."
*******
The meal had taken place in a friendly atmosphere, but Scorpia's absence was a silent reminder of her argument with Jade.
While Kael had enthusiastically spread out a map of the island on the table, he had started showing Kit all the beautiful places to visit. Each of the descriptions was filled with anecdotes, fascinating details, and personal stories, making each location even more appealing.
Jade slipped gently into the conversation, adding a touch of humor to it, although the weight of the argument with her sister still lingered in her mind. She wished she could share this warm atmosphere with her sister, to show her how special Kit was. She hoped that with time, Scorpia would get to know her and eventually accept her presence.
« By sharing each of our adventures on this island with her, Kit is with us until dawn," Jade said.
Kit smiled, and even Kael's expression seemed to soften. He grumbled, "Go help your mother in the kitchen."
The itinerary that Kit had meticulously prepared for Emma was now spread out before them. Her fingers delicately traced the paths drawn on the map, highlighting each place carefully chosen by Emma, as if she could feel her presence through them.
Jade approached gently. Her proximity made Kit startle. Her heart began to beat faster, and her body trembled from within. She tried to hide this internal conflict, as her feelings for Emma were still very much alive within her.
"You know, there's so much more on this island than what can be seen on a map. Some of the most fascinating stories remain hidden. Each place holds a little secret, a story waiting to be discovered. Just like this place," Jade said.
The moment Jade placed her hand on the map, close to Kit's, the latter slowly withdrew hers, overwhelmed by a feeling of attraction and fear. She forbid herself from betraying her lost love.
Kael, who had been silently following the conversation, chimed in, "That's what makes this island so special. There's a magic in its lands that goes far beyond appearances."
Kit let her thoughts wander, "I understand Emma's passion for this island and her desire to come here better now."
Kael, surprised, was about to speak up when Jade stopped him with a nod.
As the conversation between Kit and Kael progressed, Kit was swept away by a wave of nostalgia. She thought of her father with the painful certainty that she would never share this kind of experience with him. She was both overwhelmed by the determination to honor Emma's memory and saddened by the void her father had left in her life. Kael brought her back to reality.
— Young lady, I hope all of this will help you during your stay with us.
— Yes, thank you for your help.
— Jade, why don't you take your friend to get her car?
— Let's go.
*******
When the two friends entered Boorman's warehouse, the air was immediately filled with the distinctive smell of metal and wood, a mixture of aromas that was both raw and rich. This place was a true maze of treasures. All sorts of strange and bizarre objects were stacked from floor to ceiling. Old, battered cars were next to ancient statues, age-old musical instruments, works of art, and heaps of other unusual curiosities, including some broken items. It was as if the two young women had just stepped into a museum of eccentric wonders.
What captivated Kit the most was the name of the warehouse written in handwritten capital letters above the entrance: "Boorman's Bazaar. Everything you seek, Boorman finds for you." She couldn't help but smile as she read those words.
— What is this place, Jade? It looks like a location that would hide all the lost treasures of the island.
— You haven't seen the end of your surprises. Wait until you meet the owner.
Kit couldn't resist the temptation to touch the strange objects piled up on the shelves. She reached her hand towards an old copper lantern, her fingers sliding over the worn surface, and then a pirate compass adorned with gold, admiring the smooth texture against her skin.
She was interrupted by a cheerful voice coming from the back of the warehouse. "Careful, young lady. We touch with our eyes, not with our hands, otherwise who knows what might happen! Each item here is magical."
Boorman, the man behind this artistic chaos, was just as eccentric as his hideout. He wore a top hat crowned with round glasses, dressed in a paint-splattered waistcoat, and his beard and long black hair gave him a mysterious and enigmatic air.
"Welcome, ladies, to the sanctuary of the unpredictable," he exclaimed in a voice that echoed throughout the warehouse.
Boorman zigzagged his way toward them through the mountains of objects.
He addressed Kit, "Are you looking for something specific, or would you prefer to let chance be your guide?"
Kit and Jade exchanged an amused glance. The place and the man were so eccentric that it was hard to tell if Boorman was serious or not.
But Jade put an end to his act, saying, "Stop it, Boorman. She's with me. We're here to pick up the car."
"Ah, okay. You must be Kit. Follow me."
He led them through the maze of odd objects to the back of the warehouse, where a collection of vintage cars was parked.
They stopped in front of a lime green Jeep Wrangler with an orange interior, which amused
Kit. "You certainly like colorful cars," she remarked.
Boorman grinned widely and theatrically tossed the car keys to Kit.
"May it bring you as many adventures as the island itself, young lady. And don't forget, if you need anything else, Boorman is here to serve you."
As she was about to get into the vehicle, something caught her attention. It was a small vintage motorcycle, a gray-purple Honda Super Club C50. She approached the motorcycle, admiring the design. She could feel the slight roughness of the chipped paint under her palms, the smoothness of the aged leather saddle, all the irregularities of wear that spoke of many past adventures. Her hands wrapped around the handlebars, and she felt the familiar sensation of rubber against her skin. Every contact with the motorcycle seemed to awaken a long-dormant passion within her. The scent of the bike, a mixture of old oils, gasoline, and metal, was the scent of adventure and freedom.
She looked up to meet Boorman's enthusiastic gaze. "It's amazing!" she exclaimed. "A Super Club C50, am I right?"
Boorman nodded, impressed by Kit's knowledge of motorcycles.
"Exactly. It hasn't been ridden in years," he said, pausing before continuing thoughtfully. "Here's an offer for you. If you can get it up and running again, it's yours."
"Really ?"
Kit was tempted by the offer, but she remembered that Emma had been against the idea of her riding a motorcycle, fearing she might lose her. Out of love, she had agreed not to pursue it, but life had ultimately taken Emma away from her.
"Thank you for the offer, but I'll have to decline," Kit said, choosing to respect her lost love’s wishes.
Before the girls left the warehouse, Boorman called out to Jade, "Don't forget about Wednesday night. We're expecting you and your sister."
Jade replied with a radiant smile lighting up her face, "I'll be there. Looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us."
Boorman turned his gaze to Kit and said, "Hey, young lady, you're welcome too."
Kit smiled but remained silent.
"Tchao, Boorman," Jade exclaimed before they left.
As they stood in front of Kit's apartment, the street was bathed in the gentle glow of the moon, casting mystical shadows on the sidewalk. The silence was broken only by the sounds of waves on the shore, accompanied by the nocturnal chorus of animals.
Jade turned to Kit with a friendly smile. "So, what do you think of the car?"
"It's an absolute joy to drive."
Before Jade left, Kit called out to her. "Thank you, Jade, for this day, for... your kindness and your family's hospitality towards me. Thank you for everything."
"Oh, it's nothing. It's just how we are. Come on, get some rest, tomorrow you start your first day at the restaurant. See you tomorrow. Have a good night."
"Good night. See you tomorrow."
Alone at home, Kit thought about the day, which had been both joyful and sad. She had spent wonderful moments with Jade, but she couldn't help thinking about Emma's absence, the void in her heart that seemed impossible to fill. Doubt crept in.
"Emma, my love, these beautiful moments, I imagined them with you by my side. You wanted us to come here to help me heal my wounds. This motorcycle could bring me a hint of freedom if I accepted Boorman's offer. But I made the right decision. If you had met this man, not only would you have thought he came straight out of a fantasy tale, but his demeanor would have also made you laugh a lot."
This day had introduced her to the warmth of Jade's friendship, the kindness of her parents, and even the endearing eccentricity of Boorman. She had felt the weight of her sadness slightly lift. She lay down, closed her eyes, and fell asleep, letting the memories of these moments blend with those of Emma in her dreams.

Chapter Three
Silas:
"Are you sure about this? It just doesn't feel right, no matter how desperate we are," Ivy's voice quivered with uncertainty, her doubts echoing in the air.
I stood above her, my grip firm on the pistol aimed at the door. The sound of the lock clicking confirmed Ivy's successful attempt at picking it. "Don't worry, I don't plan on shooting anyone unless we have no other choice. It's more of an intimidation tactic, you know?" I glanced down at her, my eyes filled with a mix of determination and concern. "We can't afford to let compassion cloud our judgement. We need to find food and supplies, even if it means making sacrifices along the way."
Together, we searched the house, rummaging through cabinets to find any canned goods we could. I headed upstairs, gathering medical supplies and spare clothing, ensuring we had what we needed for our journey. In just a short span of ten minutes, our backpacks were overflowing with the weight of our supplies needed for travel. We aimed to blend into the world, unnoticed.
As we ventured through the dense woods, our footsteps muffled by nature, we moved in silence. The only sounds that broke the silence were our occasional breaks to quench our thirst or answer nature's call. My mind couldn't help but dwell on the unsettling idea of a traitor lurking within the military and government. It didn't seem far-fetched. Our government had always been filled with officials driven by self-interest, willing to employ anyone to further their own agendas. And now, we were pawns in their game.
The memories of Marcus and Owen flooded my mind once more, their sacrifices intertwined with my own. We had fought for a cause, only to be discarded and left to fend for ourselves. Anger bubbled within me, the thought of justice becoming a driving force propelling me forward. These traitors would sink with their own ship. They had become my collateral, the price they would pay for their actions.
"You've been quiet. Everything okay?" Ivy's voice snapped me out of my thoughts, her concern evident.
"Yeah, just lost in my own thoughts," I replied, meeting her gaze with a slight nod. "I think it's best if we stop for the night. It's getting dark, and travelling at night is risky."
She halted abruptly, appalled determination flashing in her eyes. "We can't afford to waste time. We need to keep going."
"Travelling at night is asking for trouble. I know even you know that," I reasoned, sliding off my backpack and letting it rest on the ground. My tired shoulders received a soothing rub from my hand. "Take a break. Rest for the night. I'll gather some firewood and we can have a meal."
"I don't feel like resting. Unlike you, I still have the energy to keep going," she retorted, resuming her stride. I reached out and grasped her arm, trying to assert my point.
"You don’t know the location of the safehouse, but I do. We're staying here for the night. No arguments," I stated firmly, locking eyes with her defiant stare. "I’ll tie you to the tree if I have to because believe it or not, I'd rather have you alive. So, sit down. Now."
With a defiant jerk, she freed her arm from my grasp and flung her backpack onto the ground, plopping down beside it. I sighed, exasperated by her stubbornness, and walked away to gather supplies for a fire. The darkness grew, but I was determined to provide some warmth and comfort in the midst of uncertainty.
—————
The warmth of the crackling fire enveloped me, sending waves of comfort through my weary bones. Satisfied with the simple meal of canned food that had managed to fill my stomach, I leaned back, lost in my own thoughts. Ivy and I hadn't exchanged more than a few words since our earlier conversation. But I figured she was used to my silence by now.
As I stared into the dancing flames, my mind raced frantically, trying to find the best way to handle the situation with the traitor. Should I confide in Stewart right away, or should I gather more evidence before revealing anything? What if I discover Stewart is the traitor or he tells someone and gets himself and me killed in the process?
"Penny for your thoughts?" Ivy's voice broke through the silence, her tone gentle.
I turned my gaze towards her, the soft glow of the fire illuminating her face. The flickering flames reflected in her eyes. It struck me for a moment how beautiful she was. I brushed that thought away quickly and let myself ease the tension in my shoulders. "Just trying to figure out how to expose the traitor without divulging any details," I confessed.
She nodded, her eyes filled with understanding. "You’re not telling Stewart? I thought you trusted him."
I sighed, grappling with my conflicting emotions. "I can't take any risks. The only person I can truly rely on is myself," I replied, my voice tinged with a hint of vulnerability. "And you."
A smile played on her lips, a glimmer of a teasing spark. . "So, that's what you meant earlier by wanting me to stay alive?"
I rolled my eyes, attempting to brush off the deep-seated emotions developing that threatened to surface. "Sure, let's go with that," I said, tending to the fire, stoking it slightly. "So, I guess you've let go of your earlier fit?"
She chuckled softly. "Sure, let's go with that," she replied, mirroring my words.
"Good. Get some rest now. I'll keep watch for a couple of hours and wake you up," I instructed, a hint of concern seeping through my authoritative tone.
"But you've been..." she began to protest.
I interrupted her, a note of command in my voice. "Just go to sleep. I’m the one calling the shots here.” I said, settling back against my backpack. She sighed in response, turning away from me to find a comfortable position.
As the night wore on, the sound of nature surrounded us. The wind whispered through the trees through their rustling leaves. A chorus of crickets joined in, their rhythmic chirping filling the air. The fire crackled and danced, its glow diminishing with each passing moment, almost demanding I tend to it.
Amidst the ambient sounds, I couldn't help but notice the gentle rise and fall of Ivy's breathing. It grew deeper and more steady, a testament to her weariness. I knew I was exhausted too. As I mapped out the remainder of our journey, pondering the challenges that laid ahead, I reflected on Ivy's struggle to keep up with my pace.
With a sigh, I approached her backpack, quietly unzipping it. Carefully, I redistributed some of the weight into my own, careful not to wake her. I didn't want her to feel like I was coddling her, but I knew that lightening her load would help her to keep up. Besides, having her close by brought a sense of peace, knowing that we had each other's backs.
I trusted Ivy more than she possibly realized. I could only hope that she felt the same.
Grace:
My fingertips brushed through the tall grass as we ventured deeper into the woods. The trees served as our shield, allowing us to move swiftly with minimal breaks. Today, I found myself keeping up a better pace, managing to stay close to Apollo's back. He had this habit of mumbling to himself, his eyes glued to a compass as we continued our trek. As it turned out, he wasn't all that bad. In fact, I had grown accustomed to his presence and even started to admire him. There was something about him that demanded respect, and it was easy to give it. Sure, I couldn't resist teasing him from time to time, but I didn't mind following his lead. I just knew deep down that I could trust him.
Eventually, we reached a peaceful area filled with more grass and an abundance of wildflowers. The sight before me was truly breathtaking, an open field adorned with a vibrant painting of colors.
"We'll take a quick break here," Apollo announced, a faint smile playing on his lips as he caught me getting lost in the beauty around us.
Unable to resist the allure, I crouched down to take in the sweet scent of the flowers. Their petals and the tips of the grass gently tickled my face and brushed against my hair, filling me with a sense of peace. It reminded me of the garden my mother used to have back home. I raised myself upright once more. The fields turned upside in my eyes to reveal a scene of her garden. Strands of her red hair appeared above the tall flowers. The lilt in her voice threatened me with tears.
“Grace! Darling! Come help me with the weeding, please!”
I closed my eyes almost calling out to her. I wanted to tell her I was coming and beg her to stay before another voice sliced through my deleting escape.
"Quit fooling around over there and grab a bite. I'm not waiting here forever," Apollo called out, his mouth full of jerky.
I rolled my eyes, unable to hide a smirk. Despite his gruffness, he had a point. We couldn't afford to lose track of time. Our lives were hanging in the balance, and I wasn't about to keep them hanging any longer.
With determination, I reached for my backpack and prepared to refuel. The sting of my mother’s voice rang in my ears. I pushed it aside though. Like I always did since the day of the accident.
Words faded into the background when the hike commenced again. The silence suited me just fine. It allowed me to stay focused. I trailed behind Apollo, keeping a watchful eye on his back, mirroring his observations of the treeline.
—————
"The sun is getting low," I panted, my breath catching in the steep and rocky terrain that demanded every ounce of strength to climb.
"I'm well aware of that, rookie," his voice raspy and filled with thirst. He took a sip from the canteen before continuing, "I need to use the bathroom. Once I'm done, we'll find a suitable spot to settle for the night."
As he disappeared behind the trees in search of privacy, I gratefully removed the backpack from my aching shoulders, giving my sore muscles a desperate massage.
With the backpack unzipped, I began rummaging for food when the sound of a twig snapping behind me sent a jolt through my stomach. In an instant, my hand darted towards my pistol, aiming it towards the source of the noise. Two men emerged from the shadows of the tree line, their hands raised in a seemingly non-threatening manner. Despite their starved and ragged appearance, their presence still made my heart race.
"Hello there," one of them greeted, his slimy smile oozing with a hint of menace. His eyes lingered toward the backpack. "You got any food in there to spare?"
My palms tightened around the pistol as I clicked off the safety, sending a clear warning. "None for you. Now, leave before things get ugly."
The other man scoffed, his mocking tone dripping with disdain. "Look at this princess, thinking she can give orders. Maybe a lesson in manners is in order." His hand reached behind him, and panic gripped me.
Without hesitation, I fired, and the men crumpled to the ground in front of me.
Before I could fully process the chaos around me, a powerful force wrapped around my chest, squeezing the air out of my lungs. I struggled against the large figure, desperately trying to keep him from wrestling the gun away. His fists hammered into my stomach, each blow an attempt to incapacitate me. Gasping for air, I refused to yield.
He shoved me to the ground, his weight bearing down on me. I aimed my weapon quickly, but he grabbed hold of the barrel, redirecting it towards the sky. His free hand clenched beneath my jaw, pushing my cheek into the mud. Sweat mingled with dirt on my brow as I clenched my teeth together. The pistol wavered between us, threatening to turn against me.
"Stop fighting it, sweetheart. You're no match--"
Suddenly, a splatter of crimson landed on my face, and the man collapsed on top of me. Pushing his lifeless body aside, I scrambled to an upright position, my weapon still trained on the source of the noise.
Apollo.
Lowering his pistol, he jogged towards me, his voice trembling with a mix of concern and relief. "Are you alright?"
I nodded, my trembling hand wiping the blood from my mouth as I managed to speak. "Thank you," I whispered, my words ragged and breathless from the exertion. My eyes darted to his victim, taking in the gruesome sight.
Apollo crouched beside me, offering a comforting touch. "It's alright. It’s over. We're okay." His hand briefly brushed against my cheeks, wiping away the blood. Rising to his feet, he extended a hand, helping me up.
Confusion filled my mind as he swiftly zipped up my backpack and handed it back to me. "What are you--" I began, but he cut me off.
"We can't stay here. It's too dangerous now. They might have others come looking for them," urgency laced his words. "We need to keep moving through the night. I won’t be a sitting duck and neither will you." His resolve was unwavering.
I couldn't argue with him.
Silas:
Ivy and I finally reached the safehouse in the early morning hours, the remainder of our hike shrouded in an unspoken tension. The events that had taken place had done a number on her. I could see the weight of it in her eyes, but I knew her resilience. She was strong. A quality that I had become accustomed to since day one.
However, the incident had heightened my senses, making me aware of every small noise. We approached the secluded house nestled in the woods. Its wooden exterior, chimney, and front porch gave it a rustic facade that seemed to blend with nature.
As we neared the front door, I raised my hand, silently signalling for Ivy to cover me.
"I'll sweep it. You cover me," my voice held firm in its command.
"Copy that," Ivy responded.
With practiced precision, I swiftly cleared every corner of the house, ensuring our safety. Exhaustion began to seep into my bones, threatening to pull me into a deep slumber. I collapsed onto the worn leather couch, fingertips massaging my temples to alleviate the beginnings of a tension headache.
Meanwhile, Ivy settled into the armchair, shedding her jacket and releasing her tattered hair from the hair tie. As the adrenaline subsided, my eyelids grew heavy, tempting me with sleep.
Fighting against the pull of exhaustion, I shifted my gaze to Ivy. The soft morning light filtered through the windows, casting a gentle glow upon her bloody dirt-streaked face. Dark circles formed under her eyes.
"You need to get cleaned up. You look like hell. I’m worried about you," I found myself blurting out, unable to suppress my concern for her well-being.
She nodded, emitting a tired groan as she rose from the armchair. She made her way down the narrow hallway and into the bathroom, the sound of running water replacing the silence.
In an attempt to keep myself alert, I began to explore the safehouse. The traces of dust that settled on the surfaces and furniture spoke of a reminder of the absence of recent visitors.
Continuing on, I found myself in a back bedroom, where a full-sized bed occupied the space. With a swift motion, I released clouds of dust from the pillows and blankets, watching as they danced in the sunlight that streamed through the window.
Settling onto the bed, I positioned myself near the window, my gaze drawn to the large birds perched in the nearby trees. They stood motionless, their presence seeming almost unnatural. It dawned on me—they were cameras, surveilling the outside and waiting to alert us to potential enemies.
Ivy’s throat cleared behind me and broke my spell. I turned to see her clutching a towel wrapped around her body. I closed my eyes and she chuckled a bit.
“Damn… sorry. I should’ve waited—“ I stuttered with an apology.
"No, it's alright," She interrupted, allowing a brief pause before continuing. "Are there any clean—“
“Yes- uh drawer on the left. I’m sure something in there should work.” I stuttered once more. Keeping my eyes shielded, I listened to the sound of Ivy rummaging through the drawers as I made my way out of the bedroom and into the bathroom, eager to wash away the grime that clung to my body.
The hot water cascaded over my tired muscles, washing away the dirt that had accumulated. Leaning against the shower wall, I let the water soothe my senses, attempting to find a moment of calm in the chaos that had consumed my life.
Restlessness and exhaustion intertwined within me, a heavy burden that refused to leave me be. The sting of betrayal lingered in the air I breathed. With every step and turn, I found myself waiting for the ground to crumble beneath me. Trust, a commodity that once carried stability for me, threatened to crumble.
"You alright in there?" Ivy's voice permeated through the bathroom door, her knuckles lightly tapping against it.
Startled, I snapped back to the present, scrambling to regain composure. "Geez yeah, I'll be out in a second."
"It's alright. Take your time. I just got a bit worried…. You've been in there for 30 minutes," she replied, her voice laced with understanding.
My eyes widened in disbelief, suddenly aware of how lost in my thoughts I was. Hastily, I shut off the water, a tinge of guilt in my voice. "Sorry. I didn't realize how long I was in here."
Ivy's reassuring voice soothed me. "Like I said, it's alright. I found some MRE's in the freezer. Chili with beans. I'll start making a pack for you." Her footsteps faded away as she made her way to the kitchen, leaving me standing there, struck by her thoughtfulness.
A smile tugged at the corners of my lips, a rare moment of warmth. I appreciated Ivy's kindness, her ability to provide comfort relieved some tension building within me.
A reminder that I had someone I could depend on.

Oh hey everyone did is a idea I have but I made my own Ruby gilmen Au
It for the time being call
Ruby gillman teenage kraken: twist au.
Warming: WILL BE FROM THE MOVIE SPOLIER BUT IN MY OWN way SO IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE YOU WILL GET SPOLIER
Also other note: they may be deleted scene from the movie/remove idea from the movie. Alright now let begin
Plot;:
Ok so in this au Ruby and Chelsea was friend for a while most likely since the last school year. They been the bestie for a while almost hanging out every day or aleast once a week(for other week). One day after Chelsea being her dramatics way Chelsea seen ruby jump into the water once ruby seen her she jump into the water to see Ruby turn into a kraken. At first Chelsea was bit scared at first because she weren't sure how ruby would reaction to her but Chelsea took her chances and reveal her self decide to help ruby out with this. Then you know they have they have they water bestie scenes etc.
The water emotional scenes:
You know the scenes was Chelsea was telling ruby about how the mermaid were into hiding, and how she felt trap etc. Well also in this scenes she talk how she didn't think people would like her for being a mermaid and that she was worry that people weren't like her until she meet ruby and reveal that they people or someone out that care for her.
Here how it may go
Chelsea: can I tell you something
Ruby: ye what is it?
Chelsea: Well I a mermaid
Ruby: ok and what about ir
Chelsea: can we keep this serect between us
Ruby: why?
Ruby:*ruby remember what her grandma tell her.
Ruby: Ohhh..that...
Chelsea: what that...
Chelsea:OH right that kraken queen told you about her huh?
Ruby: ye..she did she told me about how the mermaid try to kill us and the war.
Chelsea: can I tell what happen after
Are you willing to listen.
Ruby:* a bit nervous.
Chelsea: Please...
Ruby: *she sigh. Alright tell me
(They gonna be a part 2 to this in a sperate post)
Also in this au...the mermaid queen neris and Chelsea are TWO DIFFRENT CHARACTER
MEANING
That the mermaid queen is Chelsea mom
And that Chelsea is her own persom
(Fun fact: that what I actually thought what was going to happen was I was watching the movie i thought that Chelsea was a actually well Chelsea so the twist made me feel a bit sad because The fact it weren't a diffrent person. )
So I gonna change that in the story to make that the be Canon in the story(aleast in the au)
(That all I can say for right now because I still working out some things so they may be a post bit later for the water scenes and a maybe this week or at somepoint some more information about what deleted may be in here or how it a bit diffrent from the story)
Hope you find this interesting

Lore time (finally)!
Today is the day when I'm going to talk about my ONE AU called "Over the Horizon" because I already did art of it and never showed it because I had the lore to be shown first (Also I sure do love recycling old shit I made do I 😺?).
Good, let's proceed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Those are forming the basic plot of the AU. It starts with Liam who had a regular day at work and left the office on his bike (ONE 1 reference lol). Everything goes fine until Great Transcendance happens (an Airy original™) that apparently made Liam get teleported in the Waiting Room, and actually face Airy himself...or his voice at least. Airy refers to him as backpack instead of Liam.
As an update of the screenshots from above, after his meeting with Airy, Liam wakes up in a dark abyss like place, with him looking different, in his object form (Note : the characters will have a humanoid design in this AU, and a object form, which resembles their spirit/soul). In that place, he met Stone, in his object/soulscape form, who took him towards a strange purple crystal shard, insisting to touch it. Along with that, they also gave him some notes, either written or drawn on them and put them into Liam (since he is a backpack ngl 😂). He then touched the crystal (since he had no other option) and the place lightened. Some moments later he woke up with Sàier in his face, xey being an object OC that I had for a while (and part of an original storyline as well).
About the crystal shards, those are called Novas and those resulted from the (Airy's original™) Great Transcendance. If someone touches them, the crystal will get somewhat incorporated in the said person, giving them supernatural powers based on the person's character, emotions and other personal stuff a person can have. A thing about the Great Transcendance (GT for short) is that it destroyed at least 90% of the Earth and affected other parallel words as well. Tbh, what y'all expecting :'))?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Above there are two lists with the OtH characters. The first list is with the characters who have been affected by Novas and got supernatural powers. The other list are the ones who didn't got affected by Novas, yet they got involved into this whole story (because Airy™), but developed weapons and other kind of skills instead. The lists are about to get updated sooner or later.
That's all I got so far about my ONE AU. Expect for updates, despite that they're not going to be often.

In English we say:
"There is someone, somewhere searching for you in every person they meet."

WILLOW FANFIC STORY
PART 13
LA PROMESSE RENOUVELEE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
« Pourtant tu l’as fait. Tu as trahi notre serment.
