Howard saying that Tony is his “greatest invention” has always rubbed me the wrong way and i think it’s because it implies that everything Tony does is the result of Howard’s actions. Howard managed to keep Tony in the company for long enough that Tony would have the resources to make Howard’s element. Howard controlled who Tony would be in contact with enough that he KNEW Tony would see that video, and get it from SHEILD personnel. Howard knew that Tony would still be running the EXPO, and thus have access to the old board where Howard outlined the element.
By Howard saying Tony is his “Greatest invention”, he so means it litterally. Tony was handcrafted, customized to be the person Howard wanted and needed. Howard uses Tony as nothing more than a time machine, a dependable future entity which will do Howard’s bidding.

Captain America: Civil War (2016) directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
That's how I wished it happened. Binarily Augmented Retro-Framing, or BARF. God, I gotta work on that acronym. An extremely costly method of hijacking the hippocampus to... clear traumatic memories. Huh. It doesn't change the fact that they never made it to the airport... or all the things I did to avoid processing my grief, but... Plus, 611 million dollars for my little therapeutic experiment? No one in the right mind would've ever funded it.

Howard Stark:
“I’ve figured out a new completely undiscovered element but due to the limited technology of my time I am unable to create it”
Tony Stark:
*Puts piece of metal on tripod*
**Shoots laser at it**

One hc that i found that broke me is the reasoning for why Tony doesnt like being handed things.
I wish i could remember the person who posted this originally but i cant so if anyone knows them tag them or link their post
But it went that Tony doesnt like being handed things because as a kid, he would help Howard in the lab and Howard would hand him hot, sharp, or just generally harmful things and have him hold them until Howard needed them
And I think about this so much, like not many hcs that i see stick with me that hard but this one did and i think about it in every single irondad fic that i read/write because theres no way that this doesnt affect how he works with Peter in the lab.
For example, Tony never tries to make Peter even touch anything that could easily hurt his hands and insists that Tony works with everything burning hot, super sharp, ect
Or if you want to take it to the extreme, Tony doesn’t ever hand things to Peter directly, instead makes sure that Peter absolutely makes the choice for himself to touch anything in the lab. Even if Peter specifically asks for a part, Tony sets it down right next to him instead of directly in his hands.

it would be funny as fuck if Tony had been preparing for a while to rebrand Iron Man colours from red and gold to the shiny blue that Tonys holograms are in. Because if that were the case, Tony may have had serious reservations about bringing Spider-Man onto the Avengers for the simple fact of dammit i wanted to be red and blue but the kid already claimed those colours
