I've listened to over 300 new releases from over 100 different kpop artists this year so picking my top songs felt like an mnet-level survival show 😭 the irony that i never watched Boys Planet AND one of the songs is literally a Peak Time song is not lost on me ! 🙃 but i wanted to pick a trendy format so here we are 😈 anyways i included albums instead of songs that didn't make the cut since there's too many honorable mention songs that i have had on repeat this year 😭 but most of them are in these 22 albums (oo-li is on here twice and istj isn't out yet !)
if u like my gif template, here's the link ! pls credit me ty <3

I’ve never known how to identify my music taste so I made a little breakdown of my favorite artists/bands by genre and recorded the through-lines of labels between them. There were 16 in all but I only included 15 for formatting purposes, so there’s one secret one not listed. It’s niche and personal anyway. I did factor it into my genre breakdown however.
The breakdown lists all words/phrases that appeared more than once. Some I realize are oversimplified but they’re listed this way to avoid redundancy. (ie. indie, rock, and pop listed separately rather than indie-rock, rock, indie-pop, etc.)
I grew up hearing an eclectic mix of music. A song I loved growing up made me think:
If The Bear could have been a musical for one single moment, Carmen in the walk-in embodies this. PLEASE NOTE: It’s not just the lyrics- it’s the guitar solo. Listen to it. That solo sounds like Carmy to me.
For your listening pleasure “I’m So Afraid” by Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac)

Lyrics:
I been alone
All the years
So many ways to count the tears
I never change
I never will
I'm so afraid the way I feel
Days when the rain and the sun are gone
Black as night
Agony's torn at my heart too long
So afraid
Slip and I fall and I die
I been alone
Always down
No one cared to stay around
I never change
I never will
I'm so afraid the way I feel
Days when the rain and the sun are gone
Black as night
Agony's torn at my heart too long
So afraid
Slip and I fall and I die
How I feel
Days when the rain and the sun are gone
Black as night
Agony's torn at my heart too long
So afraid
Slip and I fall and I die
Again, listen to the guitar solo all the way through. I beg you.
