pairing: cal kestis x gn!reader

summary: with thoughts of past rules plaguing his mind, cal starts to question whether he’s doing the right thing.

warnings: cal questioning his relationship with reader, established relationship, a little angst?, mostly just fluff, reader reassuring cal, talk of order 66, mentions of the jedi code

“Do you ever think this is wrong?”

You rolled over, cheek resting against his shoulder as you questioned, “This?”

His adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed, his head just barely moving into a nod before his eyes finally landed on you.

“Us,” he clarified, his eyes straying once again as he couldn’t bare to look you in the eye as he questioned everything you had.

It was silent for a moment as you allowed him to collect his thoughts. Then, he spoke again, “I mean- We’re both Jedi and the code… the code says this is wrong. ‘There is no emotion. There is peace. There is no passion, there is serenity.’”

With a sigh, you sat up. This was far too heavy a conversation for pillow talk. “The code said a lot of things, it doesn’t mean it was always right.”

“But what if we’re just playing into the hands of the dark side?”

You looked at Cal as he too sat up beside you, his brows tense as his thoughts ran rampant.

“What if the code was wrong? Nothing good can ever come from suppressing your feelings, trust me. What if it’s part of the reason the order fell? An absence of emotion only gives rise to the darkness, Cal.”

Your explanation was sound but he still wasn’t convinced. More than anything, he was still afraid of the darkness consuming him.

“I’m still having those dreams… The nightmares…”

You placed a comforting hand on his shoulder and admitted, “I know. You talk in your sleep sometimes but that’s not you, Cal. You’re stronger than that, you won’t become an inquisitor.”

He nodded as he let your words sink in but the code still rang through his mind, echoing through every corner.

“Emotion, yet peace. Ignorance, yet knowledge. Passion, yet serenity. Chaos, yet harmony. Death, yet the Force.”

He hummed in question, brows furrowing once again as his eyes landed on you. Those were the words of the code but they were different, not as he’d ever heard them before.

“After the fall, I fled. I was in hiding for years but I never gave up on the Jedi, on everything I had been taught. I travelled in search of knowledge. That is how the code used to be, years ago. We were never supposed to ignore or suppress our feelings. To find true balance with the force you have to feel your emotions and learn how to navigate through them, both the good and the bad.”

He hummed again, finally allowing your words to break through. “Control. Balance is about finding control.”

“Yes. Us… We’re not wrong, Cal. As long as we are in control of our emotions, we won’t fall into darkness. Besides, how can this be bad? What we have is good. Love is always a good thing.”

With a smile, his head hit the pillow again and he welcomed you into his arms as you lay back down beside him. “I love you too, you know?”

You closed your eyes, thanking yourself for the moment of quiet before Cal would inevitably drag you back into trouble again. “I know.”

The order had fallen but, by learning from the past, the two of you would build it up again. You’d make it better, reembrace the old teachings but move forward. There was a long road ahead and an empire to topple, but together you’d see it through.

A/n: Yessss more Cal, I love him.

Five years….five long years since you’ve seen your favorite red headed Jedi.

You missed Cal, missed his jokes, his smile. The poncho you managed to swipe before you two went your separate ways was started to lose his scent though you couldn’t help but cringed at that thought.

“God I feel like a creep.”

Shaking your head you tugged at the poncho, your head snapping to Mirrian. You weren’t quite sure you should trust the woman’s smile. “Is something wrong?”

Shrugging her shoulders she then turned her back to you. “Cere wants to see you.”

Dropping your shoulders, you bit back a groan. “I was hoping to take a nap.”

“Trust me, you’ll want to be awake for this.”

Shaking your head you tried to wonder what the hell that meant then again you could never tell with Mirrian.

Rolling your shoulders you glanced around the room spotting Cere talking to some guy you didn’t know but your heart nearly stopped seeing who was talking to Greez.

“Cal?”

Hearing his name, Cal’s eyes went wide for a moment before he started to rush towards you and soon you were being lifted off the ground, his arms wrapped tightly around you in for a crushing embrace. “I can’t believe you’re here.” He whispered in your ear.

He was trembling as he held you, he thought he would never see you again. He did his best to look you up but you just vanished and he was to scared to ask the others.

Cal honestly thought you would hate him, maybe you did hate him. Should he even be hugging you?Wincing he then let you down as he stepped back rubbing his neck. “Sorry…..I uh got excited.”

BD-1’s beeps seeming to agree as the little robot jumped at your feet. Shaking your head you laughed for a moment stepping close. “I see you haven’t changed Cal” titling your head you then placed your hand on his cheek, him leaning into your palm.

“Well not all of you are the same, I like the beard and the hair is a nice touch.” You teased.

Letting out the breath he was holding in Cal returned your smile though it turned to confusion once it finally hit him. You were wearing his poncho, one he thought he lost. “Is that…Is that my poncho?”

Feeling warmth creep up your neck you adverted your eyes. “Maybe…it’s been helping me….I can give it-”

Shaking his head, Cal quickly grabbed hold of your hands. “You don’t…You don’t need to give it back, I want you to keep it…it looks good on you.”

It was cute, seeing the red envelope the man’s cheeks though you did see his eyes darken. You’re all to familiar with that look.

Biting your lip you took a step closer, your chest needy touching his. “Can I show you the Archives?”

“I’d like that.”

Grabbing Cal’s hand, you tugged the man towards one of the rooms ignoring Greez shouting at you both.

“Where the hell are they going?! Don’t we-.”

Mirrian hummed Placing her hand on the pilots shoulder, she gave him a smile only glancing to where you two walked off, happy to see her two close friends finally reunited again. “Let them be, they’ll be fine and they’ll be much happier when they return.”

“What the hell is that supposed to mean.”

Cere sighed as het shoulder’s slumped. “I just pray they stay far away from our work.”

“Is anyone gonna clue me in on what you two are talkin-.” Seeing the look on Cere and Mirrian’s face Greez’s eyes went wide before he let out a laugh, BD-1 jumping on Mirrian’s shoulder. “Well as long as it’s ain’t the Mantis then I’m happy.”

Though it was Mirrian’s turn to let out a bark of laughter.

“Why are you laughing, why is she laughing Cere.”

Cere shrugged turning away. “I am not getting in on this, let me know when they’ve returned.”

“I just find it funny that you think they haven’t fucked on the ship.”

“Wait! What! You must be lyin! Come on Mirrian! Tell me you’re lyin? Stop walking away Mirrian.”

It was the sensation of something bristly against his shoulder that dragged Boba from the depths of slumber. He let out an annoyed sound before managing to free a hand from the sheets. He reached back and shoved. Cal rolled over without protest. Boba could only rub at his eyes while he mentally swore at the jetii. The new scruffy look was great, honest, but the stubble felt like a nexu tongue against his flesh.

BeeDee chirped from the floor. Boba cracked his eyes open before peering over the edge of the thin mattress. The droid cocked its head to the side.

"What?" Sleep still clung to his voice, giving it a scratchy sound.

BeeDee belted out the news about something on the radar.

Boba blinked.

"Is it friendly?" Cal asked while shifting closer. A shadow of a beard scratched at Boba's ear and he bit his lower lip. BeeDee warbled out unknown. Great. They had to get up then.

Bode’s gaze flicks across Cal’s sprawled position, pointedly lingering on his boots, his belt, all the signs he’s still in his day clothes (even if Bode hadn’t seen him in them a few hours ago to tell he hasn’t changed). “Yeah, I kinda thought the same,” he drawls, equally low, dropping his arm to lean against the back of the couch. “You planning to sleep at all before we hit Jedha?”

Cal shrugs expansively and tucks his arms behind his head, leaning his cheek into his elbow. Bode’s shirt is short-sleeved, too, which means he’s showing more skin at once right now than he has in the entire month and a half Cal’s known him. It’s unfair how hard it is for Cal to keep his eyes off it. “Nah, wasn’t really,” he admits. “I’m not that tired, I can sleep when we get there, and… I’ve got a lot on my mind.”

It has been five years since the Galactic Empire rose to power. Five years since you were taken in by Drax the Aruetyc, a disgraced Mandalorian who betrayed his people by saving you. You remember nothing of your life since Drax found you, only remembering your name. He calls you Echoy'la, claiming that you are searching for answers to your lost past. You don't expect to find any answers, but life is filled with twists and turns. Everything changes when you go to Bracca to follow a lead. Your journey begins with train crash, and the clash of lightsabers.

Hey anyone who sees this!

I was planning on writing a little blurb but idk how well it’ll go over seeing as it would be my first ever fic/blurb here. I also can’t decide who it should surround.. as far as I know, I’ve decided on an x reader I just don’t know who out of these options.. (feel free to add any character suggestions as well!) If the first rendition goes over well, I’d be open to change aspects of the story and make separate versions for all of the character options below too!

The idea is going to surround Niall Horan’s song, Black and White but won’t really be a song fic.. basically it’ll be the reader (you) dating one of the options below and having a bit of a fear of/hesitancy to the L-word so instead, to say it without actually saying it, the two of you will refer to Black and White (the song you two have chosen as ‘your’ song) whenever the implication is there… if that makes sense lol.. :) characters are:

Anyway.. I’m just super torn haha. Let me know what you think! Reader will probably be gender neutral and will likely not have any references to race or specific traits as to include everyone! If I decide to continue writing, I’ll be writing fem!reader, masc!reader, gn!reader and plus size!reader (fem, masc and gn). I will probably be taking requests as well as I tend to get bad writers block that ends up discouraging me severely lol. I will try my hardest to not use wording that could only apply to a single race so that everyone can be included. <3

-[ AFTER ]: after having spent the night before together, the sender wakens next to the receiver, and, gazing at them, tells them that they love them.

A/n: just a little blurb with some implied smut! I’m on break and I’m just mentally drained so I can only write little prompts.

It was rather quiet on the ship, you had meant to slip away after Cal had fallen asleep but it felt too good to be in his arms.

You never expected to have sex with the red head, but the adrenaline was running high between you both and thankfully the crew was away in the cantina and the Mantis was empty.

You remember his hands over you body, tearing at your clothes. You remember how good it felt when he entered you, when he kissed you. You felt your cheeks warm at the thought but then he started to stir.

You waited for the always talk, for him to just kick you out. You were dreading what was going to happen now, now that you actually realized your feelings for the Jedi when you didn’t even know how he felt.

Turning your head you finally noticed that he was awake, that he was watching you. Throat dry you wanted to say something until you felt Cal run his fingers down your arm.

“Last night made me realize something.”

Swallowing the sudden lump in your throat you waited for the rejection, the walk of shame if you could even call it that.

“What?”

But it never came.

Instead you felt a soft brush of his lips against the nape of your neck, a squeeze of your hips as he pulled you close to his chest.

“That I love you.”

You were happy your back was turned to the man, you didn’t want him to see the sudden tears in your eyes as you turned your head. Your fingers weaving through his own giving them a squeeze.

“You don’t know how happy I am to hear that. I love you too Cal.”

Relationship: Cal Kestis x f!reader

Summary: Cal wanted to go out on his own, but after not being by his side for quite some time, you bring up something you learned back at the Temple when you were just a youngling.

A/N: Bored at work so clearing through my drafts, here’s a quick blurb

The crew, such to Cal’s disappointment, wanted to take a day break on Koboh at the cantina. After a few weeks hunting down bounty hunters, everyone was exhausted. Cal finally caved when you fell over after standing for a few minutes from pure exhaustion.

Cal was restless. He wanted to keep the go-go-go mentality, and keep hitting them when they thought they could take a breather. He wasn’t used to breaks; he was used to running, fighting, pushing through.

He sat outside the cantina, tinkering with his saber with BD-1 at his side. He watched the people come and go, wanting to follow one that started their journey outside the city. BD-1 tries to entertain him, chirping some songs that he picked up from Greez and yourself. It only worked for ten minutes.

You’ve kept an eye on Cal as soon as you landed. You knew he wouldn’t be able to sit in one spot for longer than a few hours. Staying aboard the Mantis, you used this time to lay on the boarding ramp, using the ship as shade to read a few books. Every so often, you peeled over your book to see if Cal was still there, which he was.

You got to a good part of the book and hyper focused for a bit too long. Finally, after you flipped to the next chapter, you peered over to see your boyfriend gone. Aw crap, there he goes. You should’ve done more to help him relax, but he’s an adult he can manage. Well, apparently not. Throwing your book inside, you hop to your feet and take a better look. There goes the red head, following a raider towards their base. Something’s up.

You manage to find a balance of quickly walking and slowly jogging to catch up and hopefully not be suspicious. Cal flicks his head back and notices you making your way up. He doesn’t make a face as you look your arm into his.

“I watched him leave someone’s home with that bag, I have a bad feeling. The owner of the house was also crying.” Cal whispers, pointing to the large bag that the raider had in his hand. You nod.

“Now or later?” You ask, Cal shaking his head.

“I want to see where he’s going, see if there’s more stuff they’ve stolen.” The raider turns around to see us, but we wave and continue walking past him, coming up with a story to seem less suspicious. You both walk slow, causing the raider to groan and bump through you too to continue on.

“Well I’m coming with, obviously.” You smile, using your free arm to pat his arm. Cal seems annoyed.

“No, today was your rest day.” He whisper argues with you, causing you to raise an eyebrow.

“And to you, and you know that we don’t like others dipping by themselves.” You roll your eyes. “Do you know remember what we learned at the Temple?” Cal blinks blankly, obviously confused.

“The buddy system?” You ask, Cal shaking his head. “Seriously? Damn, we didn’t like that lesson as much so I figured you didn’t like it as much.”

“If you don’t like the buddy system, then why did you even come along?” Cal grumbles, not wanting their cover to be blown. You could care less about the raider and trying to talk to your boyfriend.

"Because someone has to save your ass if this inevitably goes wrong." You scowl, just too loud. The raider finally turns around, shoving his weapon to your chin.

“We are out of town, what business do you folks have with my team?” He hisses as you throw your hands up.

“Sir, we were told to follow a raider heading out of town to pay someone back.” You explain, the raider slowly lowering his weapon.

“Who?”

“You all look the same.” You state blankly, Cal holding in a scoff of laughter. The raider doesn’t seem amused.

“I’m not going anywhere,” The raider stands facing you two, crossing his arms. “You’ll have to wait for the correct man.” You and Cal look at each other, coming to the same agreement. Cal flings into action, bashing the raider back with the butt of his saber. Stunned, the raider drops the bag, giving you time to grab it and run. Cal follows, leaving the raider gasping for breath, laying on the ground.

“When we return this, you are going to properly rest.” You shout at him as you both run into town.

“Oh yeah? How?” He scowls, catching up to you.

“You look pretty relaxed after an hour in the bedroom.” You smile, shocking Cal. He smiles widely like a happy boy on Christmas morning.

“Give me the bag, and meet me on the ship.” He exclaims, slowing down as you reach town. You both stop and you give him a quick peck on the cheek. He rushes into the house, startling the owner.

Giggling, you make your way towards the Mantis. Before you get too far, you feel a pair of hands snake around you, turning you around. Cal places a sweet kiss to your lips before throwing you over his shoulders. You shriek in delight as he takes off to the launch pad, a few passer byers giggling at your shenanigans.
