Tumblr media
“Mmh… Wonwoo…”
His hands roam all over your naked body; warmth spreading all over when he digs his blunt fingernails into the skin of your waist.
“Feels good, doesn’t it? Did you miss me, sweetheart?” His voice is soft, gentle, yet teasing; barely above a whisper as your back bows off of the bed to lean into his simple touches. “I missed you, sweetheart. Missed your ‘lil cunt too.”
A choked sob falls from your lips, followed quickly by rushed, hurried cries for Wonwoo to move faster.
“Don’t you want me to take my time? We haven’t seen each other in months.”
There’s a smirk on his lips, eyes twinkling with mischief when you reply back with a shaky whine. “Don’t you want me to slide my cock into your pretty ‘lil pussy nice ‘n slow? Let you feel every inch of me filling you up, just like it’s the first time all over again.” He stares at you dreamily; fixated on the way your body chases his hands when he drags them down to your thighs. “Or would you prefer it if I fucked you hard and fast? Your cute body squirming and trembling from how good I give it to you and my cock slamming into your tight ‘lil cunt.”
Wonwoo’s fingertips spread your folds as he licks his lips; appreciating how wet you already were for him.
“Bet your toys don’t feel as good as the real thing, huh?”
You shake your head ‘no’ furiously, “N-no, god, no! Wonwoo, p-please!” The male grins down at you, pouting mockingly at your desperate, pleading eyes.
The wetness between your legs is unbearable and the sobs are caught in your throat when Wonwoo leans over you, lips ghosting across your own.
“Okay. Just say--”
You’re shocked awake by your alarm clock; chest heaving in deep breaths as you sit up in your crumpled sheets. “Oh, fuck...” Groaning, your clammy palms reach for the ringing device as you shut it off and sigh.
The clock reads 10:02AM; tired eyes trying to blink away the sleep that threatens to take you back to the dreamland you much preferred. Although, dreaming about Wonwoo was becoming a little bit too common these last few days.
Sighing once more, you move to get out of bed; already finding your panties soaking wet and sticking to you like a second skin when you stand.
“Ugh... Damn it.”
Tumblr media
You press the vibrator harder onto your clit; teeth chattering with the pleasure that pours over your body.
“Oh, god, please, p-please…”
Images of Wonwoo dance behind your eyelids; sultry smirks and teasing glances bringing you closer and closer to the edge of an orgasm.
If there was anything that the last few months without Wonwoo taught you, it was that you couldn’t afford to lose him - in more ways than one. And despite his lack of calls or even text messages, you held out in hopes he still felt the same way that you did despite the distance.
You sent him pictures and videos of yourself often; teasing images half naked, toys in hand, and videos crying out his name while you came. And while he took the time to reply to those with praise and adoration, he almost never sent anything back.
When he did, it was always short, clipped replies of how exhausted he was and how he didn’t have much time.
“Ngh, h-harder…” Your toes curl against the bedsheet; phantom feelings of his cock fucking you hard and deep making you cry out in desperation to be filled by his cock.
Your phone rings on the nightstand next to you as you cum - vibrator pressed so hard against your clit that your back bows off of the sheets while your thighs shake uncontrollably.
And for the first time in a long time, it’s an orgasm that feels like it’s worth something.
‘Gyu: hey did wonwoo text u?
‘Gyu: he’s back next monday he said
‘Gyu: idk abt classes tho, might be out of commission for a while bc jetlag
‘Gyu: thinking abt throwing him a party on friday after he comes back...
‘Gyu: u wanna plan with us orrrrr? U got a private party or sth 🥴😏
‘Gyu: lmk
Tumblr media
You’re nervous. Shy, even.
After you’d come down from your orgasm and checked your phone, your mind momentarily went blank from shock and the first thing you’d done was text Wonwoo to ask if he was really coming back that soon.
‘Ah, yeah, I was just about to text you. Prof said we can go home early if we wanted since we finished up classes. I’ll see you sometime next week? Jetlag and stuff.’, was all he had said and in your excited state, the only thing you had responded with was an, ‘Okay, great!’, without asking when, where, or what time.
You figured you’d give him some time to readjust instead of bombarding him as soon as he got in. But each second that you knew Wonwoo was home, you found yourself itching to just be in his presence.
You just had to be a little more patient.
Tumblr media
Wednesday morning comes and you find yourself skipping your morning class to go to the library.
For studying, you tell yourself.
The male at the receptionist table shoots you a small smile to which you awkwardly smile back before ducking into an empty aisle. All you knew was that it seemed like Wonwoo wasn’t here.
Maybe he’s still at the frat house, you wonder.
Sighing slightly under your breath, you decide that maybe getting some work done would actually help distract you from looking for the male.
You find an empty table, setting your things down before pulling out your phone.
In all honesty, you weren’t even sure why you were being so shy and nervous about contacting Wonwoo, especially when you so unabashedly sent him nudes every few days when he was away.
Although, with how things had been before he left and the prospect of actually dating once he came back from his semester abroad - the butterflies in your stomach had been nonstop with the different scenarios that played out in your head. You’d even gone so far as to plan what happened if Wonwoo had decided he didn’t want to make an attempt at dating you.
“Sweetheart?”
The grip you have on your phone only tightens as you whip your head around to find Wonwoo standing behind your chair and you swear your heart stops beating the same time your breath gets caught in your throat. “H-huh?”
He smiles gently down at you and you can’t help but wonder how long you were spaced out to not notice him there.
“Is this a dream too?” You wonder aloud - Wonwoo chuckling in response as he moves to collect your things for you.
“Have you been dreaming about me that much, sweetheart?” You stutter and stumble over your words; embarrassment eating at you every second that Wonwoo has a knowing smile plastered on his lips.
“C’mon, let’s go get something to eat since we both know you’re not really here to study.”
Tumblr media
The version of Wonwoo that sits across the cafe table is… different.
Not bad, just different.
His arms are much tanner and definitely more muscular and the glasses missing from his face lets you appreciate his eyes even more when they’re not hidden behind the thick frames. He had even opted to wear a sleeveless shirt; something that you weren’t used to when he usually was around campus in long sleeves and sweater vests.
Although, you can’t and won’t deny the way your body reacts to this Wonwoo.
“Hey, I’m talking to you and you’re just spacing out.” Muttering, he leans over the small cafe table until his face is only inches away from yours and the smirk on his lips already lets you know that you’ve been caught staring.
“Listen, I know I’ve been gone for three months but you’re lookin’ at me like you haven’t had a fix in all that time.” Your lips press into an embarrassed firm line, avoiding his stare as he raises a brow at you.
“Wait, you didn’t fuck anyone in the three months I was gone?”
“No… did you?” Your voice is barely above a whisper; a little afraid that his answer will be ‘yes’ when he takes a second longer to respond.
“Nah,” He settles back into his seat, “I told you, didn’t I? I was willing to try the whole… dating, relationship thing with you when I got back. Although, I’m somewhat surprised one of the others didn’t try to seduce you while I was gone.”
You laugh slightly, cheeks warm as Wonwoo teases. “I wouldn’t have given them the time of day anyway.”
Your entire body burns hot, palms clammy in your lap from how giddy you were to be with Wonwoo and it made your heart do backflips knowing that he’d still been willing to try with you.
“Ah, how was it abroad anyway? You… didn’t really say much over the past few months so I feel like I don’t know how you were. Just some messages about how tired you were...” He takes a sip of his coffee; unintentionally making you internally scream when his lips form a pout while he thinks.
“Honestly? Other than the days we were excavating ‘n stuff, it was pretty boring. Really hectic though, and a lot of documenting which meant a lot of paperwork. I swear, I closed my eyes and I saw the inside of my textbooks.” He chuckles lightly, eyes focused on the cup of coffee in front of him.
“I just want to say sorry for my lack of communication. I really didn’t expect to be so busy that I couldn’t even pick up a call.” There’s a genuine apologetic look on Wonwoo’s face when he looks back at you. “And the time difference was really rough too. I didn’t want to take it out on you over the phone if I was stressed about not sleeping or the workload. I know we can get a little rough when we ‘play’ but this wasn’t that and it wouldn’t have been fair.”
Oh.
“T-that’s okay, I understand!” Your heart does somersaults in your chest, “I--thank you for thinking about me too.”
The feelings you have bubbling up inside of you make you feel like you’re falling in love for the first time, all over again. “Um… Sorry I sent so many pictures ‘n stuff.”
Wonwoo laughs, this time throwing his head back slightly before he tries to hide his wide grin. “Oh, sweetheart. Don’t apologize.” Your eyes meet his and for a split second, you see the familiar dominating look in his eyes before he leans over the small cafe table again.
“I might’ve not had all the time to entertain you those times but I thought about you alllll the time. I missed everything about you.” His voice is barely above a whisper - careful to not let anyone else in the cafe hear the topic of conversation. “Which, by the way…You piqued my interest earlier with your question. You never really answered my question about having dreams about me.”
You shift in your seat as you avert your eyes from his; eyes flitting down his toned body instead as you mentally curse yourself.
“I… kinda? I m-mean… not normally but just--just these last few days. It’s almost been every night… I wake up and--and it’s just… I’m...” You trail off; somewhat shy to say the rest of what you were going to say even though you’re almost certain Wonwoo already knows.
“Odd. Me too. I kept dreaming about you, which is, honestly, kind of why I thought to come back earlier.”
“Oh?”
“Mm, we still had 2 weeks left, technically. A bit of a spillover since my professor wanted us to explore the city once finals were over. But I just wanted to come home.” He finishes with a chuckle - a soft look in his eyes.
You pout back at him, “You didn’t come home early just for ‘lil ‘ol me, did you?” You say it jokingly, but deep down you do wonder.
“Would that be so bad?” Grinning, Wonwoo sets a couple of bills down onto the table to cover the meals you both barely have touched.
“Like I said, I missed everything about you, sweetheart.”
Tumblr media
Wonwoo walks you back to your place afterwards; laughing and joking with you as if he hadn’t been gone for the last 3 months.
There’s a certain playfulness about him that makes your heart bloom and part of you wonders if he’s opening up to you more now that there’d been some time apart.
“Are you gonna be working at the library again? Or is that done forever now?” “Mm.. I mean, it’d be kind of weird if I stopped, don’t you think?”
The grin of his face is telling and you have to mentally stop yourself from letting your mind wander in the middle of the sidewalk. “Y-yeah... Studying in my apartment isn’t really the same, y’know…”
Laughing, Wonwoo takes the opportunity to swing an arm around your shoulder as he tucks you under his arm. “I was actually at the library earlier to ask about my position back. I start tomorrow.” Goosebumps rise on your skin and the close proximity is enough to make you whimper.
“I’m only taking two classes this semester to give myself a bit of a break so I’ll be in the library more often to fill up the time. You can always call me if you need to know where I am. I promise I’ll respond this time, sweetheart.”
Before you know it, the two of you are already standing outside of your complex as Wonwoo takes his arm off of you.
“Will I be seeing you tomorrow?” There’s a hopeful lilt to his voice that has you nodding feverishly in return.
“I have a morning class but I’ll come by in the afternoon? I can text you to let you know, just in case.” You offer back.
Wonwoo licks his lips, tilting his head before leaning down and kissing you on the forehead.
The soft gesture momentarily throws you off as you freeze but the smoldering look in Wonwoo’s eyes when he pulls away lets you know that he’s already scheming.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, sweetheart.”

confessions; but not remembering it
ft. kita shinsuke, sakusa kiyoomi x sick fem!reader
genre: fluff
masterlist
a/n: this has been sitting in my drafts for a while and then i rushed bc i was getting tired 🙃 also. sakusa's is a little ooc. sorry ab that
-» ˚⸙͎۪۫⋆
Tumblr media
» the clean yet musty smell of rain filled the gym as the boys practiced. it was a surprisingly humid and rainy spring day today here in the country side of hyogo
» "achoo" you had been sneezing and coughing all day. you also had a terrible headache but took some medicine to see if it would help. the spring allergies really getting to you
» you didnt reay have the time to be worrying about yourself. As a 2nd year manager of the inarizaki team, (recommend by suna) and the boys working so hard practicing for nationals there was no way you'd let this little cold get in the way. you had to work just as hard as everyone else!
» "hold on, im about to hang up your jerseys to dry"
» "i got you guys some fresh towels!"
» "i can run and grab that coach. im headed that way anyways"
» the coach called for a short break to rest up for a bit. everyone was sore and exhausted from practicing every day. "here. i filled your water bottles up!" handing them to all the boys. "y/n you're all wet" akagi sounded concerned.
» "hm? oh its alright. I'll dry off in a minute. i took the shortcut to the drinking fountain to refill your waterbottles instead of taking the long way" you nonchalantly said. "so you ran through the rain like an idiot?" suna threw a clean towel over your damp hair and ruffled it. "suna!! stop!! you're gonna ruin my hair"
» "like i said. its alright" you reassured the boys.
» kita, on the other hand had noticed your fatigue. although he wasnt as perceptive on peoples feeling and thoughts as well as others, he could easily pick up signs like yours. he admired you dearly for how hard you always work for the team. how you willingly did anything to make them smile. how you always put others first before yours. needless to say, he had a bit of a crush on you.
» "l/n san. i think you should take a break too. there's no need for you to be running around for us while we're resting" kita assured you. "i still have a few things left on my list to do.. but afterwards I'll take a break!" kita let out a sigh. you were stubborn sometimes and kita knew you were the kind of person to not stop until you're finished.
» "I'll be right back. i gotta grab the laundry"
» making an excuse to leave, your heart was beating fast. you knew kita's words were the kind he'd say to anyone, but it made your heart feel fuzzy when he'd look out for you.
» the stone cold captain who you thought he was, actually was so kind. he was just a little awkward like you, and a little blunt with what he said sometimes. but you learned the great qualities he carries and how much he actually cares about others well being. he was a hard worker and you couldnt help but absentmindedly fall for the captain.
» running up the stairs to the second floor of the gym, you felt a shift in your step. head becoming dizzier than it was just 5 minutes ago. legs trembling, you started falling before feeling a presence behind.
» kita's arm wrapped around your waist, supporting you in efforts to not letting you fall over. "i told you to rest l/n san" kita said sternly. "you wont benefit anyone if you keep overworking like this."
» you knew kita was right, but you really didnt want to rest knowing you'll be letting the team down by not working hard.
» "i promise I'll rest as soon as im done with this one thing" pleading with kita. he let out a sigh, knowing you really wouldnt until you did finish so he allowed you to do so.
» finishing grabbing all of the dry jerseys and bringing them downstairs to pass out to everyone, you didnt really notice atsumu and osamu spiking volleyballs at each other until aran yelled
» "y/n! watch out!" honestly, you were too tired to move out of the way so you figured, it do be like that sometimes, and allowed the ball to hit you.
» or... so you had planned the ball to hit you.
» kita stood in front, blocking the impact of the spike that you had prepared yourself for. there was agitation in kita's eyes. more than you usually noticed when then twins were miss behaving. concern washing over, he looked you straight in the eyes
» "... is there something wrong kita san?" lifting up his hand to your forehead, he let out a sigh. "why didnt you tell me earlier you had a fever", then walking over to the coach meanwhile atsumu and osamu come over to apologise for being reckless.
» "get your stuff. we're going home" kita said bluntly.
» "huh? but practice is-"
» "please l/n san. for me"
» kita would only take yes for an answer this time. no if's ands or buts. so here you were, walking home with kita. only the sound of raindrops hitting your shared umbrella being heard.
» muscles starting to ache a little more and your legs becoming more tired than they were when you left the gym, you began to walk a little slower every step
» "get on my back l/n" "its ok kita san, i can walk. its already enough that you're walking me home" "i didnt ask if you wanted to. im telling you to"
» you couldnt tell if it was the fever that made your face warmer or if it was kita's words. nonetheless, you got on kita's back. he was a lot stronger than he looked and you couldnt help but stifen at being so close to your own crush like this.
» "relax. I'll make sure you get home." he reassured. you leaned into his back, warmth seeping in, your eyes began to feel heavy.
» "kita san" "yes?" "thank you for always watching out for me"
» a comfortable silence was met as the sound of rain filled your ears.
» "kita san" "hm?" "did you know..." your voice softened "i like you a lot kita san"
» did he hear you correctly? if he wasnt paying attention he wouldve missed what you had said, being drowed out through the pitter patter of water. now his heart thumping louder than ever before.
» "l/n san-" he was about to go on but was met with the gentle rise and fall of your chest and the soft snores of you on his back, knocked out from exertion. kita let out a light chuckle, finally relieved you were resting.
» you had missed the next day of school, but when you came back the whole volleyball team bombarded you with love.
» "WE'RE A FAILURE TO NOT NOTICE YOU FEELING SICK" atsumu cried. "how could we let our one and only precious manager get ill for taking care of us" akagi, clearly dissapointed in himself. "please let us know when we can take care of you too y/n" aran said.
» "its no big deal. really!" waving your hands in defense. "it was just a small cold. but i do have a question though"
» all the boys gathered around to hear what you had to say
» "how did i get home?? i really dont remember what happened after i almost got hit by atsumu"
» it shocked the guys honestly. you genuinely didnt remember a single thing due to your fever. "wait? you don't remember kita taking you home?" suna replied, your face becoming red. "k-kita san took me home-?" "yah. he left in the middle of practice to do so" osamu added.
» immediately, you got up to find the captain that apparently took you home the other day. he was in the storage closet cleaning and grabbing the equipment for todays practice.
» "kita san" "oh. l/n. glad you're feeling better" his smile brightened the musty closet. "about that, im sorry for troubling you and having you take me home the other day. i honestly dont remember what happened after i almost got hit by atsumu. my mind was really fuzzy that day, but im truly thankful for you going out of your way for me. it really means a lot"
» kita was dumbfounded. you really dont remember? "no need to apologize l/n. it was my responsibility as a captain. and afterall, what good would i be if i couldnt even take care of the person who means the most to me"
» your heart raced. 'person who means the most to me' ? cheeks blushing a rosy pink, you were internally thanking the musty store room from being dim.
» with arms full of equipment, kita walked by you and stopped.
» "by the way l/n san. did you know?"
» ears perking up at the vague yet familiar line
» "i like you a lot too l/n san"
Tumblr media
» now we all know sakusa HATES germs and for the past week and a half, he's been telling you to keep up with washing your hands, wearing a mask at all times even when you eat omi it doesnt work like that. pls especially since you are prone to getting sick easily no matter how hygenic you are. your immune system just hated you. PERIODT
» you remembered sakusa scolding you for running out of hand sanitizer and then the next day you were out of commission. bed ridden with laryngitis, cough, slight fever, the whole works. it was like your body was making fun of you or something
» you texted komori, asking him to take notes in class for you and relay homework information while you were at home resting up. but there was one request you had and made komori PROMISE.
» DO NOT TELL SAKUSA YOU GOT SICK
» "he's probably gonna notice your absence y/n. he'll find out about it either way"
» "well if you dont tell him then he wont know. its not like he even cares about where i am like that"
» "thats what you might think. but i know he's gonna say something i can garuntee it"
» the next day at school, sakusa did notice your presence missing. it was quieter not having a 3rd person in the group of friends. not having you around to talk to him when komori was gone.
» pulling out his phone to text you, he asked where you were that day.
» "on a family trip :D !!! forgot to tell you, but I'll tell you all about it when i come back!" you wrote, attaching an old selfie of a different trip you went on to make it more believable.
» you had hoped this silly cold would get better in a day, but soon that day turned into 2 and then 3 and then 4... you pretty much missed the whole week of school at that point
» Friday rolled around and komori was on his phone all day. sakusa noticed his cousin fidget in his chair more than usual and it irked him to see him like that
» "what's with you today?" one eye raised, sakusa finally asked. "uhhh nothing really" komori wasnt very good at keeping secrets lets just start off with that, but he was trying his best.
» "well clearly somethings wrong. you're fidgeting." "well haven't you noticed somethings been different all week?" komori hinted
» sakusa sat there in thought. nothing's been different? he ate the same breakfast he usually does every morning. all his studies have been well. there were no tests this week so there was no reason to be anxious like komori was and even if there was, he would've done well anyways.
» "just tell me what it is." sakusa was starting to get annoyed. "y/n..." komori started. "y/n?" "do you know where she's been this week?"
» did you not tell komori about your family trip? you usually told komori everything, but then again you didn't tell him either until he asked you about it.
» "she said shes on a trip?" he nonchalantly said. komori's eyes started watering. "A TRIP TO THE HOSPITAL THATS WHAT IT IS" he blurted out. komori didnt mean to let it slip , he was just so worried about your well being.
» "hospital?? what are you talking about. did she get injured on her trip?" "no omi. shes been sick all week and her mom just texted me saying she went to the hospital today because shes had a fever for 3 days straight. there is no family trip"
» sakusa's heart shattered. you were sick and didnt even tell him?
» before both he and komori knew it, his legs were running faster to get to the hospital than he had ever imagined he could ever run.
» and there you were. fast asleep in a bed with an IV drip. your face flushed, forehead sweaty and shallow breaths escaping your chapped lips. you were a hot mess but sakusa didnt care. stepping to your bedside to greet your mother she explained to him that she had to go to work and asked if he could watch over you until she gets back.
» sakusa said yes without even hearing the whole thing. his heart and mind saying yes to whatever it took to get you to feel better.
» gosh how he hated hospitals, but what he hated even more was the fact that you were in the hospital and he didnt even know.
» the doctor came in for their evening round and ensured sakusa that you were indeed getting better! your fever had broken not too long ago and your body was working extra hard to heal itself up!
» "is there anything i can do to help?" sakusa asked. he felt helpless in this situation just watching your face distort in uncomfort every now and then, and coughing your lungs out.
» patting sakusa's shoulder, the doctor told him that just being here for you is enough. "you gotta be a strong boyfriend for her alright son? she'll be able to go home tomorrow first thing in the morning if her fever doesnt come back"
» sakusa slumped in his chair at your bedside, the doctors words ringing through his head. 'boyfriend huh?' he thought to himself. "if i was her boyfriend..." he whispered to himself, "i would be a failure for not even knowing my girl was sick..."
» to kiyoomi, you were beautiful. even now in this sad state you were in. deep down he locked these growing feelings he had for you inside of him because he always felt like you were a better match with someone else and after this stunt you pulled of lying to him about going on a family trip, it only made him feel worse.
» it was now night time and you finally began to stir in your sleep, the fever finally gone. sakusa reached out to move some hair that was stuck to your face, fingers tracing the outline of your jaw. your eyes slowly opened and met with his dark orbs.
» "y/n?" "saku- wait this is just a dream. omi wouldn't be here. he hates hospitals" you let out a forced laugh and then a sigh through your sore throat.
» you reached out to sakusa's hands that were resting on the side of your bed. "omi would never let me hold his hand because he'd say im passing germs to him so hopefully dream omi wont be the same" you were aimlessly talking to yourself, not even realizing that this really wasnt a dream.
» he squeezed your hand in return. hoping that you wouldnt let go any time soon. a funny smile appeared on your face just at the thought of him. "even if you're stupid for not realizing how much i like you... i cant wait to see you again omi" you whispered before falling asleep again.
» sakusa didnt know what to do. he sat there frozen in his chair. it was his first time hearing you call him omi. heck. you literally just confessed to the boy. his brain was running wild. groaning in distress he let go of your hand to step out for a breath of fresh air now that you were back asleep.
» it was 5am and your mother came back to the hospital and thanked sakusa for staying by your side. He left in a hurry to make sure you didnt see him there.
» Monday rolled around and sakusa was waiting outside of the school gates for you. he had planned on asking you about your "trip"
» "good morning sakusa!!" your bright and cheery voice rang through his ears. honestly he was trembling inside. the memory of you confessing to him still fresh in his mind.
» "how was your trip?" you stopped dead in your tracks. "haha... it was good !! sorry i forgot to get you a souvenir" you were trying to play it cool but sakusa could tell you were forcing yourself. "i wouldnt want a souvenir from where you came from so its fine" sakusa's words threw you off. "i - im not sure im understanding what you're saying sakusa?"
» you felt a tug on your hand. "dont you mean omi?" his voice husky as he whispered into your ear. cheeks flushed, your brain felt like it short circuted. you've always tried your hardest to not let it slip that you want to call him omi since he hated when people called him that.
» sakusa smirked at your cute reaction he got out of you. letting go of your hand he began to walk into the school leaving you at the gate dumbfounded. "and by the way. you're just as stupid for not realizing how long ive liked you too"

never mind about the shape I'm in, I'll keep you safe
(alternative title: Klaus just loves his baby sister send tweet)
Summary: After getting bested by their umpteenth threat to the world's continued existence, the siblings not only get scattered across the city, but their powers scattered amongst them. After waking up without his powers, a clue which of his siblings' powers he did have, or where his siblings actually were, Klaus starts looking for them... only to see possibly the most heartbreaking sight he could have imagined: Vanya, obviously burdened with his powers of seeing and hearing the dead... in a cemetery.
Words: 3.8k
Pairings: PLATONIC Klaus & Vanya (and some platonic Klaus & Allison near the end)
Warnings: Hurt/Comfort. Sensory overload/panic attack. Discussion of seeing/hearing ghosts. Mentions of death, drugs, and Reginald's abuse (The Mausoleum). One mention of insanity (klaus being worried his powers might drive vanya insane).
A/N: This is my first tua oneshot! I've been working on it since Friday because... well... the idea wouldn't leave me alone until I got it out in a fic. I actually did it instead of finally finishing s2, so... it might be a bit ooc? But I hope you like it! Title from "S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W by MCR. Based on the second addition of this post of mine. <3
---
Well, Klaus thought, isn’t this just swell?
“Swell” was probably, by far, one of the most inaccurate ways to describe this debacle that he could come up with. Just earlier that afternoon - Oh, what a nice afternoon it had been! - he and his siblings were dealing with some threat. Maybe it was more nefariousness from the Commission, maybe they were preventing the apocalypse of the week. Who knew? Who kept track, anyway, of the fires they’d been putting out?
(Well, Five probably did. But that wasn’t the point.)
But it just so happened that this fire they’d been putting out had been able to best them and scatter them across the city. What’s more, this fire wasn’t an ordinary fire, but one like themselves, or that chameleon-esque one from the 60s. Maybe that fire had intended to erase or absorb their powers, and the act had been botched, or this was their intent all along. It didn’t matter, really; all that mattered was that this fire managed to give his and his siblings’ powers a whole switcheroo before scattering them.
(Alright, metaphors aside, it wasn’t a fire. It was a villain.)
Klaus’ only reassurance that their powers hadn’t been erased entirely (or taken by the villain for themself) was that, after they’d sent a blast out at him and all of his siblings, leaving the six positively reeling, Klaus had seen a very confused Luther start “blipping” everywhere, ala Five’s teleportation, before they’d all been scattered. Oddly enough, he’d been grateful for seeing that; if Luther had Five’s powers, it stood to reason that each of them had the power of another sibling instead of their own… right?
Well, it was what Klaus was going with.
But when he came to without any of his siblings around, a clue where they were, or that power-swapper in sight, he decided against trying to figure out which of their powers had been thrown at him. He may not have been the smartest of the bunch (that was either Five or Allison, really. Probably Allison. Yeah, it was Allison.), but even he knew it would have probably been a bad idea to see if he could control things’ directions like Diego, or rumor things into existence (or nonexistence) like Allison, or make use of Luther’s super strength.
And he could only imagine the catastrophe that might come about if he tried to use Vanya’s powers. The only one who knew how to best handle them was Vanya herself. And even she wasn’t exactly well-acquainted with them!
No, no, no. The best plan - if he could call whatever the fuck he was improvising a plan, which just didn’t seem like the right thing to do - was to find the others, figure out who had whose powers, and realize which one he had through process of elimination.
Speaking of elimination, as Klaus searched through the streets for where the other five ended up, he’d at least been content with the power-swapping ensuring that he wasn’t hounded by the dead as he attempted to round up his siblings. Silence from the ghosts was a pleasantry he’d never quite been used to, especially silence that hadn’t come along with either being as high as a kite or drunk as a skunk. At least, it made it easier to look for the others.
“Allison!” he called out as he walked the streets, “Vanya! Diego!”
Of course, sober or not, he still drew stares from passers by as he called their names. That was fine. He just had to find them as soon as he could. They couldn’t have been far!
(Well, they very well could have, but right now, Klaus took quite a liking to trying to reassure himself through falsehoods so he didn’t panic. It was fun.)
After an hour or two of searching fruitlessly for his brothers and sisters, he eventually turned into a lesser-populated street of town - a street which harbored a cemetery.
He winced at the sight of the large plot. He always hated going into graveyards; they only bombarded him with ghosts (which he’d never forgotten Reginald taking advantage of with that fucking mausoleum). Of course, the dead couldn’t do much to him now, since he’d been stripped (or relieved?) of his usual powers that afternoon, but that didn’t stop him from grimacing.
But his grimace fell when he saw someone in a patch of trees far off on the opposite side of the property from where he’d stood outside it’s gates.
“Oh no,” he mumbled to himself as he shook his head, “Oh, no, no, nononono-”
He wished he was mistaken in thinking he recognized that quivering little frame, curled up against a tree with her forehead against her knees as she kept them close to her chest; he wished he didn’t recognize her all-black outfit from earlier, or her brown hair which she’d had her hands dug into as she covered her ears.
He’d recognized that posture all too well. Not from her, but from himself; from his days locked in the dark of that mausoleum, trying to cover his ears to block everything out and make himself small, because he felt small - and he was, he was just a kid - and curling into a ball because he’d had no one there to hold him but himself.
It was Vanya.
Vanya had his powers.
...And she got dropped in a fucking cemetery.
“Oh, fuck!”
Klaus half-ran, half-stumbled into the graveyard. Thankfully, it was nearly empty, and the few people there paid no attention when he ran across the yard, dodging and hurdling over headstones when he’d needed to. He’d dodged them on instinct and reflex alone, because all he could think about was that scared little ball up against that tree. He didn’t try to call to her; not only was he almost out of breath, but he feared that trying to call her name while she didn’t see him would just add to the bombardment of voices that no doubt rang out in her head.
As he got closer, the sight just became more and more heartbreaking, but it was at its worst when he’d gotten right in front of her, and he could hear her sobs.
“Go away.” she pleaded, a little muffled with how her head had been ducked behind her knees, “Please, please just go away.”
Klaus knew she wasn’t talking to him, but the ghosts. She wasn’t even aware of his presence yet. And he couldn’t let that stand, so he dropped to his knees and put his hand on her arm.
“Vanya-”
“NO!” she jerked away from his hand with a sob. He didn’t blame her - he would have done the same, after being left alone with the ghosts for…
...Oh, fuck, it had been hours since they’d been scattered. Hours since she’d ended up here. In a cemetery. With overwhelming powers of seeing the dead. Alone.
“Vanya!” he said louder, trying to speak over the ghosts if he could have. Gently, instead of putting a hand on her arm again, he placed both his hands on her shoulders.
Finally, her head snapped up, and when he saw those big brown eyes shine with tears that hadn’t already joined the others that streamed down her face, it took all Klaus had in him not to start crying too. Instead, he just put his hands over hers. It wouldn’t do much to actually deafen the ghosts, but he hoped it at least gave her some comfort.
“It’s me, Vanny.” he said, hoping she’d hear it, or at least know what he was saying, “It’s just me.”
Her lips, which had been relaxed as they trembled from shock, contorted into a grimace.
She hugged Klaus so tightly that it almost winded him. Even with her powers being as incredible as they were, he always got surprised at how much physical force could be inside one little violinist. Still, he hugged her back, tight enough to reassure her while not making her feel restrained. No one really hugged him when the ghosts got too strong before, but if they did, this was how he would have liked it.
Klaus could feel Vanya grab fistfuls of the back of his shirt and hold them in what he aptly assumed was a white-knuckled grip. That was alright, he was just glad she hadn’t scratched him in the process.
“There’s-” she started, her head nestled against the crook of his shoulder, her voice shaking, so little, “There’s - there’s so many of them-”
Even though she couldn’t really see it, he tried to smile reassuringly.
“Ohhh,” He tried to make his voice as reassuring as the smile she couldn’t see. “Don’t pay any mind to those silly gooses, Vanny. All their snarling and shrieking’s just for show.”
Klaus could hear her sniffle against his shoulder.
“...Geese.”
Klaus twisted his neck a little to look at what was visible of Vanya’s face, “Hm?”
Vanya picked her head up a bit.
“Not gooses.” she said, her voice strained and her eyes red, both obvious byproducts of crying as she was bombarded by the spirits of the dead in a cemetery for hours, “Geese.”
Klaus rolled his eyes in mock exasperation. Of course, of all the things that helped ground her, it was correcting his grammar. Still, he took what he could get.
“Oh, so you write one bestseller, and now you know everything about grammar, don’cha?” he said, smiling and giggling when he’d finished so she’d hopefully know he’d been trying to be lighthearted.
Apparently, it worked, because a smile twitched at the corners of her lips, and she laughed a hoarse little laugh…
...until her little smile fell, and that laugh turned into more shaking breaths again, getting deeper and deeper until she gasped with every breath.
Oh, no.
Of course, it hadn’t grounded or distracted her for long; she hugged him tighter and nestled her head against his shoulder again. But this time, she screamed against his shoulder, a sound that wasn’t made one bit less heart-shattering by being muffled. As he tried to stop his own lips from trembling and his own eyes from watering, he just hugged her tighter.
“Shhhh, it’s okay, Vanny, it’s okay.” he said, his shushing more to sooth her than to actually make her be quiet, which he knew wouldn’t work the moment she shrieked again, “You’re okay. Just focus on this. Just on me.”
“I can’t.” she choked out, “I can’t - I can’t do it - I can’t-”
As hysteric as she was… Klaus knew she was right; she couldn’t withstand this. Not for much longer. Even after almost thirty years with the ghosts, he still had a hard time keeping them at bay. For years, he couldn’t. That’s why he’d started the drugs. But even his experience with the ghosts all his life, as nightmarish as it had been, was nowhere near as bad as what had been thrust upon Vanya. He, at least, had ways to withstand it, or keep it drowned out. Vanya didn’t have that.
And it was killing her.
It was killing his baby sister.
Maybe it wasn’t killing her, but without a way to quiet it, or keep it at bay, Klaus didn’t have any doubt that… that it could drive her mad. He feared it for himself, some days in his childhood, but that fear became so much more real - and so much worse - as his sister shook in his arms.
“Klaus. Please. Help me.”
But he didn’t know how.
She was in too much hysterics to walk out of here, and he wasn’t strong enough to carry her. He didn’t have any drugs on him either - even if he did, he was not going to give them to Vanya; there was no way in hell he was going to fuck her up like that. She didn’t have any of the mood regulators she used to take, either, which might have dampened the ghost-seeing powers just like they did her moon-blow-uppy powers before.
He didn’t know what to do. His little sister was in pain and terrified and he didn’t know how to make it go away.
...He had an idea.
There was one thing he could try - something he’d wished and asked fruitlessly for often when he was little. He didn’t know if it would work, but he didn’t know for sure that it wouldn’t work, either. If it could help Vanya, it was worth a shot.
“Vanny, I have an idea,” he pulled his arms away, “But you have to trust me, okay?’
He felt her head move in a frantic nod.
“I do, I do, I do, just - just do something -”
He put his hands on her arms and gently pulled them away and pushed her back a bit so she was right in front of him, and he could look into her eyes. He didn’t know if eye contact was necessary for this, but why risk messing it up if it was?
He took a deep breath and said something he wished countless times to hear as a child; something he’d probably look really, really stupid for saying if this didn’t work, and he didn’t get the power that he really, really hoped he did.
“I heard a rumor that the ghosts went away.”
…Vanya’s eyes clouded over.
Klaus didn’t think he’d ever felt so relieved in his life. Not even after he’d been brought out of the mausoleum, or when he’d needed anaesthetics to wire his jaw shut after he fell down the stairs, and he realized that drugs shut the ghosts up. No, this was more of a relief than all of that, guaranteed.
After a few seconds, Vanya’s eyes cleared up, going from milky white back to their normal brown. Immediately, she closed them as she brought her hands to the sides of her head, her little frame sagging with fatigue.
“Did it work?” he asked with a tilt of his head. Letting out a deep breath, she nodded.
“Thank you…” she mumbled, exhaustion evident in her voice as she opened her eyes, though her eyelids were heavy.
Klaus smiled again.
“Pure luck, Vanny.” he said, “That’s all that was.”
“Mhm…” she nodded a little, sleepy nod before her eyes fell shut and her head lolled to the side…
And the rest of her body followed.
Though she was still kneeling, and it wouldn’t have hurt much if she hit the ground, Klaus still caught her as she fell unconscious, keeping her back and neck supported as best he could as he gently laid her on the ground next to the tree she’d been curled up against. Of course she collapsed; he knew how exhausting this must have been for her.
So, Vanya has my powers, I have Allison’s, and…
Klaus thought back to earlier, when he’d seen Luther frantically blipping around.
...Luther has Five’s. Great.
Well, it wasn’t like he could go searching for the others and figure out where the other three powers ended up. Vanya, laying flat on her back in the shade, was already dead to the world, and would probably be for a while yet, and Klaus would never just leave her here. Also, since he didn’t exactly have Luther-like super strength (or, depending on who got it in the switch… Allison-like? Diego-like? Five-like? Oh, now that would be rich.), or as much upper body strength as he’d like, he couldn’t carry her out.
No… the best thing to do was wait here. Whether he was waiting for one of the others to find him, or for Vanya to wake up, or for someone to kick the both of them out when the graveyard closed, he wasn’t sure. But he knew he’d wait right there for one of those things… preferably any but the latter.
Resigned and relieved, he moved over to sit up against the tree, next to his sleeping sister. With his back against the bark, he let his head loll back. Until now, he hadn’t realized how exhausted he’d been in all of this, after walking the streets for hours, running to poor Vanya, and finding her as he did…
It had been a full afternoon, and he decided resting his eyes for a bit wouldn’t hurt.
---
Klaus was lured back into the realm of the conscious by the sound of voices.
“There they are!” he’d heard.
No, not the voices of the dead he usually heard. Those would be with Vanya when (if at all) that rumor wore off (and honestly, he hoped it wouldn’t).
No, it was the voices of his siblings.
“Klaus!” he heard Five’s ever-snippety tone.
“Vanya!” he heard the worry in Allison’s voice.
He opened his eyes to see the rest of his siblings coming towards them; Allison and Five, who he heard moments before, as well as Diego and Luther. He let out a sigh. Thank fuck. He’d been worried that he might get kicked out first, as that would’ve been his luck.
It didn’t take long for them to make their way over to them.
“What happened-” Luther started, a little loud due to his concern. So it didn’t wake Vanya (or disturb nearby mourners), Klaus brought a finger to his lips and shushed him.
He pointed down to Vanya, still sleeping at his side, and put up his hands - and their ouija board-esque tattoos - in a flourish, a clear gesture saying that Vanya had his powers.
They all got it immediately.
“What about you guys?” he whispered.
“Well,” Allison started, still glancing at Vanya. “After I tried seeing if I could control where things I threw went, I figured out I had Diego’s powers.”
She nodded to Diego as he stood behind her, looking over her shoulder to stare down at Vanya with a troubled gaze, which almost looked… restrained, as if he was trying to keep his emotions at bay.
“I landed by a lake, so it was easy to find out with skipping stones.” she explained. Of course, leave it to Allison to find the most practical way to deduct which power she’d gotten.
(It must have been fun holding the family’s brain cell.)
“And after a few broken streetlamps,” Five announced, hands in his pockets, “Figured it would be best if Diego here kept a cool head for a while.”
So, he’s got Vanya’s powers. Klaus figured out. Makes sense.
It didn’t, but none of this did. Nothing in their lives ever did.
“And it took a bit to find Luther when he kept blipping across the street every time he sneezed.” Allison said, eyeing a very sheepish Luther behind her.
“Sorry.” He rubbed the back of his neck.
“That means…” Five trailed off.
Klaus nodded.
“I’m all…” he brought up his hands and wiggled his fingers, “rumory.”
Allison looked between him and Vanya. “Did you use it?”
Klaus nodded again.
“Just to get the ghosts off her back.” he assured, looking down at his sister, “Ohhh, they just terrified poor Vanny. She was crying her eyes out when I found her.”
He looked back up at them.
“She alright now?” Diego asked. Either he was doing a terrible job at keeping his worry for Vanya out of his voice, or he wasn’t trying at all.
“Oh, yeah, yeah, she’s fine.” He waved his hand as nonchalantly as he could manage, as if it didn’t feel weird to talk about how “fine” his sister was after he found her crying her eyes out. “She’s just… out. She ended up passing out all on her own.” He shrugged and shook his head. “Wasn’t me, or the rumor. She was just tuckered out, poor thing.”
Five walked forward until he was right in front of Vanya, crouched down, put one arm under her back and one under her legs, and - much to Klaus’ surprise - lifted her with no trouble. Klaus’ eyes widened at the sight, and his eyebrows raised.
“Super strength.” he said, completely and utterly matter of fact.
Oh. Klaus held back a grin and stifled a giggle. Of course.
“Which means,” he grit his teeth, “it won’t be hard to throw one of these headstones at you if you let out that laugh you’re doing a shit job at holding back.”
Keeping a poker face, Klaus put up a thumbs-up.
“Come on.” Five turned around, “Let’s figure this out.”
Five started to lead the pack of power-mismatched siblings out of the cemetery, and even though he wasn’t sure where they were going, Klaus followed where Five was leading. That always took him and his siblings to the most lovely destinations, didn’t it?
He ended up falling in stride with Allison, who kept looking at the ground.
“So…” she lifted her head back up and looked at him, “You used a rumor on her?”
Even though she’d already asked that, Klaus nodded.
“If there’s one thing I know, Allie,” he started, “it’s how bad the ghosts are. Especially somewhere like…”
He gestured around them.
“...this. I felt pretty out of options, really. I didn’t even know I had it. Pure luck - that’s what we usually run on, right? Luck, I think, is the lifeblood of the Hargreeves.”
“You sure it’s not things going wrong?” she asked. Klaus shrugged.
“Hey,” he said, “the family can have two lifebloods.”
Allison seemed to agree. “God knows we need it.’
After another moment or so of walking, she laughed a little laugh - not really a laugh, but close enough to one that any other word would have been too inaccurate.
“I remember…” She let her gaze fall to the ground. “When we were kids, you’d always ask me to use it. All the time. When we’d come back from missions, when you’d have nightmares, when Dad let you out of…”
She didn’t finish that thought. Instead, she shook her head.
“...and I never did. I wanted to, but-”
“Alliiie, you don’t have to explain yourself.” He waved it off with a shrug, “I get it! Dear ol’ Dad would’ve lost his marbles. I never held that against you, and neither-” he put his hand on her shoulder, “should you.”
Allison nodded before she said…
“It might not wear off.”
Klaus gasped, putting a hand over his mouth.
“Oh, nooo! That's... the opposite of a problem!”
Allison rolled her eyes.
“Klaus...”
“Come ooon.” he said, “Seeing ghosts all the time is, surprisingly enough, not all it’s cracked up to be. Kinda spooky, actually.”
“I'm just saying,” she said, a little exasperated by her brother’s sarcasm, “It might be permanent. Even when we do get our powers switched back. Sometimes… rumors stick around for a while.”
“Well…” he winced, “I guess we’ll just burn that bridge when we get to it.”
“You mean cross that bridge?”
At that exact moment, they both heard a loud sneeze and whipped their heads forward at Luther - or at least, where he was. Much to the other four’s exasperation (Vanya didn’t respond, as she was still asleep), he’d blipped across the graveyard.
“...Nope.”

ok anyway build-a-bear employee!jin who meets y/n bc she comes in to make a new friend after a breakup and he teases her for being an adult by herself in the store and after she starts tEARING UP he’s like okok no!!!! and helps her make the cutest lil guy and records a cute message to put inside
Tumblr media
➺ pairing; kim seokjin x reader
➺ genre; employee!jin, i brought you to build-a-bear so obviously this is going to be very floofy (sfw!!)
➺ wordcount: 4k
➺ what to expect; “…turning twenty-two soon and you’re buying yourself a teddy bear?”
➺ note; when i told u guys that jin always gets the cutest drabble requests i wasn’t LYING!!! i have my own bear from build-a-bear named blu (he’s dark blue with white stars!! at the age of eight i was not very good at coming up with creative names) so obviously i had to write something for him and his homies
                                         »»————- 🧸————-««
jin has a love-hate relationship with his job
you would think that working at build-a-bear would be pretty fun - and it can be, sometimes! - but jin can confirm right here right now that it’s not aLL that great
on one hand, he loves the dramatics of build-a-bear because he’s given the chance to act like the whole store is whimsical and that the tiny little heart that he stuffs inside of the bear is full of magic and hope and happiness (he majored in acting in university so his degree is surprisingly very useful here)
but on the other hand… he works at build-a-bear.
this isn’t where he thought he’d be!!! not at all!!!
he’s basically almost thirty and he works at a frickin build-a-bear
this wasn’t part of his plan!!!
his plan was to graduate from university, get famous from acting in a small commercial because of his devilishly handsome face, and then immediately get signed onto some fancy hollywood acting deal and become internationally known
but, no!
he graduated from university, didn’t get any roles in any small commercials, and had to find a way to make money so had no choice but to find work at his local mall
and to make things worse, his boss is literally five years younger than him
he has this bratty little twenty-two year old constantly up his ass and he haTES it
“you forgot the whipped cream on my frappuccino.” jungkook looks up at jin from where he’s sitting behind the counter before raising his drink, “am i blind or are you just bad at listening to instructions? where is the whipped cream, seokjin? WHERE?”
jin clenches his jaw before leaning forward, “they were busy, i guess they just forgot. and i’m not your slave. i only got you that drink so you’d give me a day off tomorrow.”
“well, since there’s no whipped cream on it, you don’t get a day off.” jungkook kisses his teeth before shrugging
“wha-“ jin resists the urge to reach down and wrap his hands around jungkook’s neck, “are you kidding me right now?? i spent forty-five minutes out of my fifty minute lunch break lining up at starbucks to get that for you! forty-five minutes!!!”
“i don’t know what to tell you,” jungkook hums as he kicks his legs up onto the counter and leans back against his chair, “now get back to work. and remember to smile! after all, build-a-bear is where best friends are made-“
“the new slogan is ‘the most fun you’ll ever make’.” jin raises a brow, “you don’t even know our slogan! how did you become the manager?”
jungkook takes a slow sip of his drink while maintaining direct eye contact with jin
sChLuuUuRrRRRr
jesus christ
his life sucks
jin rolls his eyes before turning on his heel and heading back to the main area of the shop
today’s saturday, so the store is a little busier than it usually is - which is great, because jin works off commission and he thinks he’s pretty good at selling teddy bears
on his best day he managed to sell thirty-eight bears in one day
he also convinced most of the kids that their brand new furry friends needed new clothes and a personalised recorded message in place of the usual little red cloth heart
he doesn’t like looking at the parents whenever he’s egging their kids on to buy even more things because they always look at him like they’re going to kill him
anyways
he could’ve ordered like forty frappuccino’s from the money he made on that day
before he left for lunch today he sold eight which really isn’t that impressive
but, to be fair, the mall usually gets busy after lunch, so now is the prime time to make some sales
jin lets out a breath as he scans the store for any newcomers or anyone who’s noT already being bombarded by his co-workers
he can’t help but snicker to himself when he notices yoongi at the stuffing station conducting a heart ceremony
“-and now you can go ahead and give your heart a little kiss-“
he looks up for a split second and jin takes the chance to blows a sweet little kiss at him
he snorts to himself when yoongi’s eye twitches
yoongi hates giving heart ceremonies but he’s actually pretty good at it!
he’s good with children whether he wants to admit it or not
alright, enough making fun of yoongi >:-)
time to hunt down a new customer…
jin sucks his bottom lip into his mouth as he walks around the store slowly
ooh, a little boy and his family just walked i- aaand they’ve been swept up by jimin
okay, no problem!
how about those twin gir- nope, too late, taehyung’s approaching them
damn
that would’ve been a good sale, too
it’s fine
he’ll get someone!
oh, wow
build-a-bear has really upped their game since the last time you were here
to be fair, the last time you were here was like more than ten years ago, so you’d hope that they make some changes to the store
…are those star wars themed teddy bears??
that is most definitely a princess leia teddy bear
and she even gets her own little light sabre!
wow
this is a whole new world
“excuse me, sorry…” you manoeuvre your way through the crowd as you continue looking through your options
is it weird that you’re in here by yourself?
the thought of trailing behind a random child in order to blend in with everyone else crosses your mind for a split second
although… a grown woman creeping behind a child they don’t know probably isn’t going to sound good to the judge when you’re standing in court, so maybe you shouldn’t do that
okay
you know what
it’s fine
it’s totally fine that you’re in here by yourself!
stuffed plushies are for people of all ages!!
it’s not just a kiddie thing
you’re FINE
and you have a perfectly legitimate reason to be in here
the only reason why you’re even in here is because…
well, the short and sweet version is that you got dumped two weeks ago.
which means that you’ve been cooped up in your apartment for the last fourteen days
which means your bedroom was starting to smell a little ripe so you thought it’d be good to air out the place and give your poor bed a break
(also, please, for the love of god, remember to wash your sheets when you get back home later today.)
anyways
you thought that a trip to the mall for some retail therapy would make you feel better!
so far you’ve only been the food court but you helped yourself to a cheeseburger, some onion rings, and a vanilla milkshake
food always makes you feel better
you could honestly go for another round of onion rings right now
there’s nothing quite like the pain of having your heart broken nudge you towards the direction of binge-eating the pain away, is there?
you were about to head into a victoria’s secret to splurge on pretty panties (that no one but yourself will be seeing for a long time) but this build-a-bear caught your eye
a cuddle buddy you could ugly-cry into for the simple price of $35?
obviOUSLY you had to come in
the only issue now is that there are way too many options to choose from
who do you want to take home??
pawlette the bunny?
toothless from how to train your dragon?
you could even take pikachu home if you wanted to
“timeless teddy…” you mutter to yourself as you dig out a teddy bear skin (also, it’s very unsettling that they’re called ‘skins’. like, you know that’s what they technically are, but the phrase ‘i’ve picked out my skin!’ just makes your skin crawl.)
you lean forward a little to read the label on the wall
teddy bears are a timeless way to share love with every hug! timeless teddy is a classic teddy bear with shaggy brown fur and an adorable smile. personalize this classic teddy bear with outfits, sounds and accessories for a huggable gift they'll cherish forever!
hm
perfect!
a classic teddy bear sounds perfect
there’s nothing wrong with going back to basics
also, you’re assuming the ‘they’ll’ they’re referring to here is a child
nO
you are doing this
you will buy this teddy bear!
your other option was to go and adopt a cat from the shelter but you can barely take care of yourself right now so that wouldn’t be a good idea
“hello!” you jump three feet into the air when you’re suddenly being greeted by one of the bright-eyed workers, “can i help you find anything?”
you turn around quickly while clutching your teddy’s skin (gag) to your chest with wide eyes, “h-hello!”
oh
hello indeed
you feel your heart drop a little when you realise that you probably look disgusting right now
you weren’t expecting to bump into a veRY attractive super handsome boy today!!!
very attractive super handsome boy with sweet brown eyes and soft-looking hair and the poutiest lips you think you’ve ever seen in your entire life-
thank god you decided to wear the sweatshirt that doesn’t have any stains on it, right?
the one thing you remember from your previous build a bear experience (once again, 10+ years ago) is that the workers here are usually overly perky sixteen year old girls
this guy is not an overly perky sixteen year old girl
well
maybe he’s the perky part
but everything else??
wowie
he smiles brightly at you before tilting his head, “hello. i’m jin!” he points at his name tag, “i’d love to help you out today. were you looking for anything in particular?”
“hi! hello, jin. i’m, um, i’m y/n. i was, uh-“ you clear your throat, “i was actually just browsing, so…”
“oh, perfect!” jin claps his hands together, “let me tell you all about our collections. there’s the summer fun collection, the rainbow friends, the promise pets, the heartables, the classic build-a-bear collection-“
yeah okay
he’s definitely nailed the perky part of the job
“-DC comics, dr. suess, marvel, my little pony, how to train your drag-“
“you know, i-“ you smile sheepishly after interrupting jin, “thank you so much, but i’ve actually already made my decision, if that’s alright.” you hold your teddy’s limp, hollow carcass up before pressing your lips together
“of course that’s alright!” jin takes the skin from you before shrugging lightly, “i figured i’d just let you know of all the other options in case your younger sibling wanted something more extravagant than just our timeless teddy. follow me to the sound station!”
you don’t get a chance to say anything before jin spins around swiftly to head to the back of the store
he thinks this bear is for your younger sibling
okay, you can work with that!
you can pretend like you’re in here for your non-existent younger sibling and certainly not for yourself
“you can choose a pre-made sound from here,” jin gestures to the bins of plastic hearts (there’s a sound option for an ‘into the unknown’ snippet from frozen 2 which is insane), “or we can go ahead and record a personalised message. what’s your sibling’s name?”
you look up at him immediately
“wha- um, why… why do you need to know my sibling’s name?”
“oh! i was just asking so i could give you an example.” jin hums as he tosses the skin over his shoulder and places his hands on his hips, “like, you could say, hey there… sibling’s name, it’s me, your big sister! i love you! or something like that.”
“ah, right!” you nod to yourself, “that makes sense! my sibling’s name is totally normal information that i have no problem giving to you.”
jin raises a brow when he notices you continuing to ramble about how your sibling’s name is something that you will be telling him soon because you definitely know the name of your younger sibling whomst’ve this bear is for
hm
you’re cute but you’re a little odd
“-my younger sibling’s name is… paulette!” you catch a glimpse of a pink pawlette bunny being stuffed before looking back over at jin, “yep. that’s her name. sweet, sweet paulette. sweet little angel.”
“hey, our iconic bunny is named pawlette!” jin beams, “wouldn’t you want to get paulette her own pawlette? instead of a bear?”
the smile immediately drops from your face
oh god
you’ve never been very good at lying
one time in middle school when you wanted to get out of PE you told the teacher that you were in pain and that’s why you couldn’t do anything on that day
and when he asked you what hurt, all you said was ‘…bleeding out of my butt?’
you don’t even know why you said that!!
you could’ve told him you had a headache or something but nO
you told your teacher your asshole was BLEEDING and that’s why you couldn’t participate in baseball
so yeah
lying has never been your forte
but you don’t want pawlette!!
you want this bear!!!
although, it would make sense to get paulette her own pawlette because that’d be an adorable coincidence…
what are you-
what are you even sAYING
PAULETTE DOES NOT EXIST
“okay, you got me!” you raise your hands in defence and jin’s eyes widen in surprise, “paulette isn’t a real person. i don’t have a younger sibling. i’m in here for me. the bear is for me. the timeless teddy is mine.”
“oh…!” jin purses his lips before nodding slowly, “alright! totally get it. the bear is for you.”
why has everyone he’s ever been attracted to turned out to be a little cuckoo?
the expected demographic of build-a-bear are children aged 3-10 (a child aged below three isn’t interested in stuffed teddies because they don’t really do anything but sit there and a child aged over ten isn’t interested in stuffed teddies because… they don’t really do anything but sit there.)
and you… well, unless you’ve experienced some kind of insane growth spurt, you certainly don’t look like someone aged 3-10 years old
“phew! it feels good getting that off my chest.” you breathe out as you lean over and place your hands on your knees, “there was a lot of pressure there to keep lying to you but-“
“how, um, how old are you, by the way?”
jin doesn’t mean to sound like a judgy bitch
he’s just genuinely curious as to why a 21-23 year old would willingly go into a physical build-a-bear store to buy themselves a stuffed plushie
you could’ve purchased one off the online website
also, aren’t there better things to spend your money on?
like… literally anything besides a stuffed plushie??
“turning twenty-two soon!” you get back up onto your feet, “why do you ask?”
“…turning twenty-two soon and you’re buying yourself a teddy bear?” jin snorts before raising a brow, “i mean, really? didn’t you graduate this year?”
“ah, well…” you reach up to scratch the back of your neck as you feel the tips of your ears beginning to heat up, “i mean, yeah, but like…”
“i’m not judging! some people go on grad trips to party and get wasted after they graduate, and other people go to the mall to build themselves a $35 teddy bear-“ jin laughs to himself before turning around to plop the skin down on little counter attached to the stuffing machine, “anyways, were you thinking about choosing a sound or recording something?”
he spins back around and his eyes widen when he notices that your eyes have gotten red and are starting to water
oh
uh oh
what’s going on?
what’s happening??
are you…
are you crying??
why are you crying??
he was totally kidding!!!
that wasn’t supposed to be mean!!
that was supposed to be playful banter!!!
“oh- oh, god no- wait-“ jin immediately walks over so that he’s standing in front of you and jungkook won’T be able to see that he just upset a customer, “don’t cry!! i was kidding!! i have, like, ten plushies on my bed! i’m twenty-seven and i work at a build-a-bear, if anything, i should be the one crying-”
“i just-“ you reach up to wipe at your eyes as you begin to blubber, “my boyfriend of one year b-broke up with me two weeks ago and i- i just th-thought that a teddy bear would make good company because god knows i’m not in the right mental state to be taking care of a real animal-!”
jin winces when you let out a particularly loud sob and he quickly drags you over so that the two of you are behind the stuffing machine and out of sighT from everyone
crap
he doesn’t even have any tissues on him!!!!
maybe he can pull some fluff out from the machine and you can dab at your tears with that
actually, the cotton might stick to your cheeks if you try wiping your tears away with a fistful of stuffing, so maybe not
“i-i know it’s stupid and humiliating for a grown-up to be in here buying a stupid teddy bear for herself but there’s so much in my life that’s just out of my control right now a-and making this teddy bear seemed like the only thing i could control and i just-“
“y-yes, of course!” jin pulls you into a tight hug (your sobbing is getting a little loud and people are starting to notice so this is the only way he can think to muffle your crying) and strokes the back of your head comfortingly, “i’m so sorry, i had no idea! that makes total sense, of course you can get this teddy bear for yourself…”
he continues to hold you until your sobs reduce to little hiccups and gives a warning look when yoongi mouths whether or not they should call mall security on your ass
when you pull away your eyes are a little puffy and the tip of your nose is red
if jungkook asks, maybe jin can get away with saying that your allergies acted up in the middle of the store
you don’t look like that because he made you burst into tears
not at all!!
“how about we… record a special message for your new friend?” jin digs through the tub to pull out an electronic heart
“i-“ you hiccup, “i don’t really h-have anything i want to say…”
jin purses his lips in thought
hm
stuffing the bear with a heartbeat heart seems way too basic
this is an important bear!
ah!
“why don’t you let me take care of it, okay?” he reaches over and rubs your shoulder gently, “you wait here and i’ll take care of everything. for his stuffing, would you like a soft cuddle bear or a plump one?”
your bottom lip starts to quiver again and you let out a light laugh, “a soft cuddle bear sounds really sweet.”
“then a soft cuddle bear it is.”
“and this is for you.” jin hands you the box over the counter and you take it from him with a grin, “thank you for your purchase! and… sorry about making you cry-“
“oh, god no-“ you snort, “i’m sorry for bursting into tears and loading all of that on you-“
“it’s totally fine!” jin shakes his head, “you’re definitely not the first person to start crying in a build-a-bear, so there’s absolutely nothing to feel bad about.”
“right! right, of course.” you nod and press your lips together, “anyways, thanks for helping me out today, jin.”
“of course! it was a pleasure.” jin clears his throat
it’s pretty clear that the two of you want to continue talking to each other, but…
jin doesn’t usually practice his flirting skills when he’s at build-a-bear, so pardon him for being a little rusty
“so… see you around!” you chirp, “i’m just gonna-“
“wait, uh-“ jin wipes his hands down on the back of his pants, “i… i don’t know if maybe this is a little too soon for you or… and it’s totally fine if you don’t want to, but… maybe i can treat you to an apology corndog or something sometime? i don’t know. this mall doesn’t really offer fine dining, so a corndog is really all i can-“
“yeah, i would love that!” you nod enthusiastically, “an apology corndog with you sounds great. i mean, a regular corndog would be fine too, but- d-do you… want my number?”
also
this isn’t you rebounding or anything
this is the first time in two weeks where your mind hasn’t been clouded with thoughts of your ex-boyfriend
this is the first time in two weeks that you’re actually happy
jin seems genuinely sweet and you wouldn’t mind getting to know him :-))
also you’re glad that hE was the one who asked
because if you were the one who asked, it’d probably make you look that much more pathetic
and you’ve already made a fool of yourself once today!!
you sigh happily as you slam the car door shut
you’re about to shove the key into the ignition when suddenly you remember that your bear has a personalised message inside of him
“oh, right!” you reach over to open up the cardboard house that he’s been shoVed into
!!!
you wonder what soundbyte jin picked out for you!!!
you pull him out and smile fondly at the sight of his chubby arms dangling over your hands
cute :-))
this was money well spent for sure
okay, now how do you activate the sound…
there’s a bit of squeezing and poking but you manage to find the little heart inside of him
you perk up when you hear a muffled crackle
“hi, y/n! it’s me, your furry friend… uh… jin bear! if you’re listening to this, it probably means you’re super sad… cry into my stomach to muffle the sound of your violent sobs! …oh, god, probably shouldn’t have said that- anyways, um, i hope you feel better soon! and remember to give me plenty of cuddles - i promise it’ll make you feel better!”
hA
that was actually a pretty good message
(you hope jin texts u soon)
“okay, jin bear.” you murmur quietly as you buckle him into the passenger seat, “time to take you home.”

the one that got away || hendery angst || part 2 (finale)
Tumblr media
Part 1

Genre: angst, fluff, mutual pining
Pairing: Hendery x reader
Premise: You two broke up and that should’ve been the end of it, but he sends you a message and all of a sudden it isn’t.
Commission Request: @iron-lix
Word Count: 4,164 words
hey, its guanheng. just got your new number lol, wanted to know if you would like to catch up sometime and talk? Idk… just text me back if u want to
You were tempted to delete it, bury it in your trash bin along with all the other concerned messages Guanheng sent you before you blocked his number. It would’ve been the right thing to do, to end any sort of contact before you could hurt yourself further. Insecurity nagged at the back of your brain, yet you find yourself texting him back anyway.
if you want
Short. Simple. Enough to get the message across, but not enough to make him think you were desperate. Did you come off as desperate? Please, don’t make him think-
omg
u actually replied!!
how are you???
and im free on sunday
do u wanna meet up then?
The bombardment of texts brought a sad smile to your face. It really was him. It was Guanheng. No person used question marks as liberally, no person sent that many texts consecutively. You hesitate to answer. Too much could go wrong for you to risk seeing him again. You could break down in tears and be left in the dust, similar to how you had left Guanheng just a year earlier.
You convinced yourself that there was nothing left to talk about, there was no more closure needed. You two broke up cleanly and it should stay that way.
i’m doing fine, and yeah i’d love to :)
Your thoughts contradict your actions and you find yourself burying your face in your hands, frustrated at how easily you agreed. What the hell was wrong with you? You blocked him for a reason, you wanted to get over him. Agreeing to “catch up” with an ex wasn’t getting over him. You would only end up missing him more after all was said and down.
What made you think that you deserved to see him after all you had done?
At a small cafe on the outskirts of Macao, you reconsider every decision you made that led up to this point. You fiddle with your fingers, wondering why you even decided to paint your nails like he’d even pay attention to them in the first place. You scratch at the polka-dotted dress you wore, cursing at yourself for wearing his favorite color- pink. You purse your lips, regretting putting on such heavy makeup to hide the dark circles that formed underneath your eyes from the sleepless night you had. You couldn’t get a wink of rest knowing you’d see his face again after so long.
You should’ve just stayed home, should’ve just blocked his number as you did all those months ago.
“Hey,” a gentle voice calls out, interrupting your negative thoughts. “Wow, I can’t believe it’s actually you.”
You look up from your lap, Guanheng staring at you with the brightest smile on his face. He takes the seat across from you hesitantly as if he still wasn’t sure he came to the right table. No one recognized him here in this reclusive cafe, but he still couldn’t find it in himself to relax. Especially with you in front of him.
“It’s been a while,” you smile sadly. Your voice was shaky and Guanheng noticed. He noticed everything.
“Did you order yet?” he asks, equally nervous, but with a large grin on his face. His hand reached out to grab a piece of paper on the table thinking it was the menu. Sadly, it was not. You giggle slightly at his awkward expressions as he slid it back to where he got it from.
“That’s the placemat,” you inform him. “They were planning to give us the menu when you came.”
He cringes at himself. ‘Why do I always find a way to fuck things up?’ he cries in his mind. Guanheng thought he could’ve introduced himself more smoothly.
“Y-yeah,” he scratches the back of his head. “I probably should’ve known that.”
You two sat in silence even as the waitress planted the menu on the table. You let Guanheng order for you, surprised he still remembers your favorite drink. You wonder if his stayed the same too.
“...and I’d like a black coffee,” he smiles widely, bidding the waitress goodbye. He sees the small scowl etched on your face, but doesn’t quite know why. He used to never drink black coffee. It was too bitter for him and he always overreacted when the liquid would touch his tongue. You couldn’t believe that had changed in just a year- just like him.
You inspect his face blankly as he chatters about something nonsensical, trying to fill in the silence that you had left him with. Guanghen’s hair is shorter now, trimmed in a way that highlighted his boyish features perfectly. He wore a dress shirt, cuffed at the elbow. He wouldn't have been caught dead looking so suave in the past, opting for comfortable hoodies and beanies so ill-fitted that they hid his eyes. You were looking at Hendery, a version of him that existed on magazine covers and photo cards. You clutch the ends of your dress. See [Y/N]? He’s fine without you.
He stops his talking when he notices your lack of enthusiasm. You used to love hearing him talk, but you looked at him with such emptiness that he wondered if his voice was grating in your ear. He stares at you too, a sad glint in his eyes. Your face, although beautiful, was tired and sunken. You had a dullness in your complexion. You no longer glowed as you used to when he was yours- or to put it in terms that he liked better- when you were his. You shake him out of his own wallowing thoughts.
“How’s Korea?” you ask, knowing he had been promoting there recently. You hear from his friends that he loves it there, that the European-esque streets of Macau got too boring for him. He liked the hustle and bustle of Seoul, the capital of entertainment and fast-paced living. “Your new album doing well?”
Guanheng is happy that you asked, afraid you had lost interest in his work after the breakup. He was so afraid you had lost interest in him.
“It’s been great!” he nods thoughtfully. “We’re planning something soon, so I only have a week here before I go back. It’s been hectic...”
You purse your lips. It must be rough on him, only getting to stay with his family for such a short period of time. Guanghen must miss it- all of this. The city, the humidity, the people... maybe not you, but maybe the memories that came with the relationship. You sure miss it too.
“How about you?” he breaks the silence, noticing that your glances were drifting off somewhere else. “Anything interesting going on in your life?”
You shake your head and give a fake smile. He hates seeing it. Guanheng would prefer for you to curse him out than for you to act fake towards him. It’s like you couldn’t let your guard down with him... and he used to be the only person you let your guard down with. This wasn’t how usually were, but then again, he hasn’t seen you in a year. Could you have changed so drastically that the sight of his face made you that uncomfortable?
“Nothing notable,” you sigh, staring past him rather than right at him. “I’ve been thinking of moving out of Macau for a fresh start, you know? Somewhere new...”
‘Somewhere that doesn’t remind me of you,’ you say silently to yourself. You see a flicker of a pained expression, but you get distracted when the waitress delivers water to the both of you. You stir the water with the straw, glad you found another distraction to keep yourself from making eye contact with Guanheng.
“I wouldn’t have an excuse to visit,” he says teasingly, but you could feel grit in his tone. “if you weren’t here.”
You blink rapidly, not quite registering his words. What was he saying?
“What about your family? Your friends?” you question. There were a lot of things that came with this city, it’s not like you were the only one living here. You figured you’d be the last thing on his mind these days. Guanheng just shrugs.
“They visit me often,” he sighs. “But you don’t. You never visit.”
He gives a sad chuckle, sipping from his cup lowly. Your mouth opens, but not a sound comes out and so you close it again. How were you supposed to respond? Guanghen sighs at your silence.
“You blocked my number.”
Your heart cracks at the sound of his voice. He played around with the straw, refusing to look at you. He sounded... sad and you wondered if the reason for his sadness was you. Weren’t you usually the reason?
“Guanheng-” “You don’t have to say anything,” he stands up straight, a panicked look on his face. He realized then that he made the atmosphere even tenser than it already was. “I’m not here with any other intentions except to talk to you. I know... I know that...”
He couldn’t finish his sentence. He didn’t know how to without sounding desperate. ‘[Y/N] I know that it’s been a year, but would you like to start over even though you might not have feelings for me anymore?’ Yeah, no way he would be caught dead saying that out loud- not when you looked at him with such emptiness.
“What’s wrong Hendery?”
You wonder why the person with the brightest smile in the world had such furrowed brows as he looked into your eyes. And maybe that was your first mistake. Calling him by his stage name.
“Hendery?” he scoffs.
“I’m sorry,” you say a little shocked at his angry expression. “Did I overstep-”
“Why would you call me that?” he asks with sad eyes. “Why are you treating me like I’m a stranger?”
Your last chance at getting closure and you had said something wrong that made him uncomfortable. You blew it, didn’t you? Of course, how could you be such an idiot?
“I’m so sorry I didn’t-”
“Hendery,” he repeats, still shocked at your words. “You never call me that. Not even when we dated.”
Dated. Past tense. He wasn’t yours anymore and you needed to accept that. Guanheng was right there telling you to. You were out of your mind for thinking this was going to turn out like you expected, that he would walk back into your arms without hesitation.
“I can’t do this,” you say abruptly, standing up from your seat. “Guanheng I’m sorry it was a mistake even meeting up with you.”
“[Y/N]-”
You walk past the table, feeling bad for the cafe workers that were oblivious to your sudden outburst. You took out your wallet from your shoulder bag, setting down cash to make up for the food that hadn’t arrived at your table. The worker stared at you with large eyes.
“Ma’am-”
You were already out the door, tears threatening to spill over. Guanheng came to talk, came to have a chat with an old friend that happened to be his ex-girlfriend and all he got was an awkward conversation that showed how broken you were without him. You walk and walk, missing the bus stop that you were supposed to wait at until you hear rapid footsteps behind you.
“[Y/N] wait-”
Guanheng wraps his fingers around your elbow and pulls you to face him. You couldn’t bear to look at him, staring at your feet rather than his face.
“Just let me walk you to the bus stop. It’s dangerous for you to walk alone,” he says, the hand that was on your elbow was shaking. “I’m sorry for acting weird back there. It wasn’t even something serious and I freaked out over nothing-” “No,” you say shaking your head, pulling his hand away from you. He felt empty now that you were out of his reach. “I was the one that overreacted.”
“Don’t,” he says sadly. “Don’t apologize to me.”
You finally gather the guts to look up at him directly, but you regret it almost immediately. You notice up close that he’s still the scared kid who couldn’t believe he was called in for an audition by a massive foreign company. It makes you want to embrace him, comfort him from all his worries, and tell him that it’ll be okay. Except it isn’t. It hasn’t been for a while.
Under a flickering streetlight, you sit at the bus stop’s bench with tense shoulders. He sits farther away from you, careful of the watchful gazes from the public and any sneaky cameras around patiently waiting for him to mess up.
“I miss taking bus rides late at night,” he admits, not looking at you in fear of people watching. “It feels different somehow.”
You smile sadly.
“Yeah. We used to ride one from school together.”
He nods, biting the inside of his cheek. Words used to flow naturally when he was with you, but he had to go and mess it up at the cafe by feeling offended over something that was trivial. So what if you called him by his stage name? It's been a year since he’s last seen you- of course, you’d have been more cautious about what to call him. He was stupid, so hopelessly stupid.
“I miss the rivers too,” he mutters. “I miss those overpriced boat rides tourists would pay for.”
He chuckles sadly, reminiscing of a time when you had gone with him. When you were his and he was yours.
‘Most importantly I miss you,’ he thinks to himself, but he balls his hand into a fist before he could say anything else. You hated this, hated that he always held back before saying the most important thing.
“Guanheng,” you start, heart beating rapidly from your chest. “Why did you want to see me?”
His eyes waiver and you could see it glisten in this light. Did you say something that made him uncomfortable yet again?
“I just,” he swallows, not finding the right words, “wanted to see if you were doing okay.”
“Why?”
“Because,” he replies, “I feel like you’re doing fine.”
‘Without me,’ he screams in his head. Guanheng doesn’t notice you bowing your head or the tears that had started to form in your eyes. He was too caught up in his own tears that threatened to spill over, but he convinced himself to hold it in.
“Well, I’m not,” you broke out with a cry, already knowing you were past looking pathetic. You let the tears fall onto your lap. He doesn’t notice at first, but Guanheng snaps his head to you, no longer caring about his surroundings. He slides closer, patting you on the back.
“What's wrong?” he asks worriedly. “Did I say something again?”
“No,” you say, looking up at him and he swore his heart sunk at that moment. Even when you broke up with him your eyes never looked this hurt. Guanheng didn’t even know he had that effect on you anymore. “You didn’t do anything wrong.”
“Well obviously I did if you look like this right now,” he says angrily, more at himself than at you. He wipes away the tears from your eyes, but it only made you wail harder. He was still so good at comforting people, still so gentle. You wished that he wouldn’t stare at you with such caring eyes and give you false hope- hope that he wanted you back just as much as you wanted him. It wasn’t right to be feeling this way when you were the one that broke up with him. You had no right.
“I’m so sorry,” you cry out, holding onto his arms to steady yourself.
“What are you sorry for?” he asks worriedly. His eyes, too, were turning red.
“For ignoring you when you needed me most.”
A silence falls between you two and his grip on you tightens. This was a conversation you two should’ve had a year ago. He didn’t quite know why it was being brought up now, but at least now he can ask what he’s been dying to figure out.
“Why did you block me?” he questions solemnly.  “Why did you agree to be friends and then just cut me off like that?”
You purse your lips.
“I’m sorry for-”
“Please,” he begs, hands letting go of you. “Answer me just this once.”
You try to gather yourself but fail miserably. How could you when this was potentially the last time you’d ever see Guanheng again?
“I was scared,” you answer truthfully.
“Of what?”
You take a deep breath and sigh.
“That you might hate me.”
Guanheng tips your head to face him, a serious look on his face.
“I’d never hate you.”
He looked at you with such softness- the kind you haven’t felt in so long.  At that moment you could trust him, at that moment you felt like everything would be okay.
‘It’s alright if he does,’ you think to yourself. If he hates you then fine, but you needed to tell him one last time. Then there’d be no regrets. Maybe then you’d have the guts to finally leave, start anew in a place that didn’t remind you so much of him, but that’s probably impossible to do because Hendery was the sun itself, and you were just you.
“I still love you,” you whisper solemnly, “and I hated that you let me go so easily when it was so hard for me to let go of you.”
His mouth falls open and you swear you see hurt in his eyes, so you turn away. Regret always came after your worst decisions.
“You thought I let you go easily?”
A stray tear had fallen down his cheek.
“I’m so sorry I-”
“Stop being sorry,” he pleads. “I hate hearing you apologize when it was my fault too.”
You look up at him, confused.
“I should’ve fought harder for us,” he continues. “I should have told you that I loved you back then and that I could’ve made it work. I can’t believe you thought I was okay with breaking up. I said we should stay friends just so I could have an excuse to talk to you again and you kept ignoring my texts and I thought I was being annoying and-”
He always used to ramble a lot when he was anxious. Guanheng takes a deep breath and puts your hands in his. The bus was not coming anytime soon.
“What I’m trying to say is,” he mutters. “I still love you too.”
You shake your head, refusing to believe his words. He just felt sorry for you, he didn’t mean-
“I tried dating other people,” he says matter-of-factly, breaking your heart a tiny bit because you hadn’t. You never tried to venture past him because it had always been him, always.
“Guanheng, why-”
“But it just didn’t work out,” he cuts you off, swallowing his saliva nervously, “because they weren’t you.”
You open your mouth to speak but he cuts you off again.
“I sent you text after text asking you to take me back,” he sighed sadly. “But I never sent them because I knew you wouldn’t even see them anyway. I told the guys about you and they said it was a lost cause, that I should move on.”
“But you didn’t,” you whisper, touched by his words. Guanheng shakes his head.
“I didn’t,” he smiles as he intertwines his fingers within yours. “And maybe it’s messed up to say this, but I’m glad you didn’t either.”
You laugh with him, the tears dried by now. You look at him, his eyes crinkling  so beautifully as he smiles.
The bus came seconds after under the flickering street light where you two share a chaste kiss. His lips tasted the same and you can’t help but grin.
It was still him. It was still Guanheng.
He walks with you, his hand bumping into yours one too many times that he just held yours in his. It didn’t feel real, being so close to him again. Maybe you had gone through hurdles to get to where you two were now, but at least he was back where he wanted to be- by your side. You two talk about anything and everything and let a comfortable silence fall in between you two when there wasn’t a need for conversation.
Guanheng asks you what you watch recently. Netflix documentaries. You ask him what songs he listens to nowadays? You cringe when he says Justin Bieber. He laughs when you laugh, walks at the same pace as you, calls you pet names. It’s like he never left, but you knew that in a week from now, he will leave. And maybe you’ll go back to wallowing in your own sadness again.
You’re already at the steps leading to your house, but he refuses to let you go, so you let him inside. He smiles at the lack of change.
“My stuff’s still here,” he says in awe, picking up the small robot figurine that was propped up on your coffee table. You fluster at his words.
“I didn’t have the heart to throw them away,” you mutter. He smiles at you.
“Do you still have my clothes here?” he asks. You panic.
“Oh, do you want them? I can go-”
“So I can stay the night then, right?” he asks seriously. You wonder if he thinks himself a comedian. You punch him in the arm with a puff of your breath.
“We haven’t even seen each other for more than a day and you-”
“Not like that,” he chuckles, realizing what he had implied with his statement. “I just want to sleep here. With you. Innocently.
You stare up at him, unconvinced.
“Aren’t you worried that I’ll get kidnapped?” he whines, giving you those puppy dog eyes that you missed so much. You miss him so much.
You click your tongue at him, walking to your bedroom as he follows right behind. You scathe through your closet, pulling out the comfy clothes he always wore. You could never admit to him that you’ve been sleeping in them for the past year since he was gone. He takes them from you.
“Then I’ll go change,” he says with a cheeky smile. You roll your eyes, getting dressed for bed as well. Guanheng takes a seat on your bed and lays down next to you. He watches you silently for a while before he starts stroking your hair.
“Move to Seoul with me,” Guanheng jokes casually. You take him seriously for a second, but notice the Cheshire grin on his face and decide to play along.
“I don’t know anyone there,” you pout, squeezing his hand lightly.
“You know me.”
You roll your eyes.
“You know that’s not enough,” you scoff. “I need a job, I’ll miss my family and-”
Why were you taking this so seriously? Your face heats up with embarrassment. How could you let yourself be carried away by his simple teasing?
He smiles at you, patting your head softly.
“Then, I’ll just keep coming back to visit, I guess,” he replies. “Unless you’re still planning to leave?”
You pondered for a bit. You did need a change of view, a change of pace. You had spent a year in this apartment wallowing in self-pity. It wouldn't be so bad to move somewhere new, would it?
“If I go to Seoul,” you start off hesitantly, “What does that mean for us?”
He looks at you, confused. The atmosphere had turned somber without him noticing.
“What do you mean?”
You hesitate to ask, still confused as to where he stands. Dating an idol was hard, you knew that. Did he?
“Will I be your girlfriend again?”
He scoffs.
“I thought that was a given.”
You smile, but there was a hint of sadness in your eyes.
“I’m not good at being there for you, Guanheng,” you admit. “I have so many flaws and you have to put up with so many of them-”
“You put up with mine,” he says, inching closer to you. You shake your head.
“I’m not a good girlfriend.”
He shoots you a glare, pulling you into his arms and burying his face into your hair. Guanheng hated in when you talked about yourself like this.
“You don’t have to be,” he says. “I want you to be [Y/N], not just my girlfriend. You just have to be okay. I want you to be okay.”
You feel the prick of tears in your eye and nod into his chest. You need to trust him. You have to.
“I’ll try,” you say, drifting off into sleep. “This time I’ll try.”
And this time he won’t let go.

Chapter One:
𝓙𝓾𝓼𝓽 𝓜𝔂 𝓛𝓾𝓬𝓴
(First chapter is a little longer than I planned oops! Sorry not sorry but please let me know what you think of the story so far in comments!)
‘God I wish I could go home.’ I thought to myself as I worked. Today I had an early morning shift, which meant I had to be up at 5 am. As a non-morning person that took a lot of effort and a lot of coffee to get me up. I mainly worked by myself so it was just me and my wandering thoughts during my 7 hour shift. My mind mainly focused on what I finished binge watching last night. The Umbrella Academy. I was shocked but also excited with the ending. Even though the thought of what happened to ghost Ben broke my heart, I still cant wait for what’s in store for season 3.
I began to wonder what it would be like to live a world such as the Hargreeves siblings. I thought it be way more exciting than my normal boring life.
My phone buzzed signaling that it was time for me to take my break. I didn’t realized how much time went by while I was daydreaming about my Umbrella Academy fantasy. As I entered the break room, I realized I was the only one with a break at the time. I sighed contently. I find it rather peaceful being alone all the time. It beats having to be in a cramped room with all your other obnoxious coworkers. My break was ending soon so I decided to leave the room and head over to the restroom. When I opened the break room door however, it wasn’t the store I worked in at all. I stared wide eyed into a blue vortex that was blowing air everywhere. I put my hands to my face trying to shield my eyes from the bright lights flashing when suddenly I felt my whole body being lifted up. Im not the type that screams when im scared, I’m the type that cant let out any noise when im truly frightened. So with a gasp, I was sucked right into the vortex.
I dropped down into an alleyway. I groaned as I laid on my stomach for a few moments as I tried to piece together what the hell just happened. For some weird reason my mind felt all fuzzy and I couldn’t exactly remember anything. I decided to get up now and take a look around. Stepping out of the alleyway I glanced around. I seemed to be in a downtown area with stores that looked..outdated? That’s really weird. I walked down the sidewalk until I stumbled upon a very familiar scene, although I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. I saw a boy in a school uniform sitting on a bench next to an older man in a suit. I watched from the side as the two talked. I started to get a bad feeling, like something was about to shift. Across the street I watched as a bus pulled up to a stop. In the back of my mind I could hear gunshots. I got goosebumps all of a sudden as I rushed to the boys side.
“Excuse me but you need to move right now!” I said to him while shaking his shoulder slightly. He looked at me in confusion and with a slight anger in his tone he asked “who the hell are you?!”
I shook my head. “Please you have to listen to me! Three men are about to get off that bus and start shooting at you!”
Just then, the three men did come off the bus. They began walking towards us.
“Who the hell are those guys?!” The boy said, trying to get a good look at them.
“Shit.” The older man said as he put something in the boys pocket.
“FIVE!” I shouted. In a matter of moments the men started shooting at us. The older man had shoved a briefcase in front of us and somehow the boy and I found ourselves behind a car. The briefcase now having bullet holes in it. “How many times did I say bulletproof briefcases.” The boy said in disappointment.
“I think I’m going to be sick..” I groaned as I held my stomach. Did we really just teleport from the bench to this car?! The sound of guns cocking and footsteps nearing us made the boy grab my hand and teleport us again. This time on a roof.
“Oh my god I’m going to throw up!” I groaned again. This time we were laying down on top of a roof. The boy quickly shushed me. “If you don’t shut up they’ll find us and kill us.”
The thought of being shot to death quickly made me stop complaining. He stuck his head up a little to see if the coast was clear. When it was, he grabbed my hand and teleported us both back down into the alleyway.
I ended up vomiting up a little bit. “Sorry about that, didn’t mean to make you sick but if I didn’t, well then you’d be dead.” His way of trying to comfort me did not comfort me in the slightest. “Thanks?” I said as I wiped my mouth and turned back to face him. “Who are you and how did you know that was going to happen before it happened and how do you know my name!?” He bombarded me with a whole lot of questions. I stared back at him in confusion as I stuttered trying to find the answer to these questions i truly did not know. His attention was then directed elsewhere. He looked towards a window in suspicion. “Hold that thought. I’ll be right back.” He said before heading towards a door into the back of a building. “Hey wait! Don’t leave me here.” I said before he teleported away inside. “Wait here my ass..” I mumbled before following him inside. Luckily the door was unlocked. I followed him up some stairs where he knocked on a door. The door next to the other one opened up and a man poked his head out. “What do you want?” The man asked suspiciously.
“Hi I’m selling encyclopedias for my youth group. I was wondering if you —“ The man shut his door without a word. Five then teleported into the mans home without a second thought.
“He really needs to stop doing that.” I said to myself as I tried to open the door. To no avail, it was locked. I sighed as I waited for them to open the door for me. I could hear the other man let out a small scream. They were talking some more until the boy finally came and opened the door for me. He teleported back into the other room where the man was. He jumped a little at how close the boy appeared to him.
“Listen to me I —“ The boy began.
“E-Elliot Elliot, m-my name is Elliot.” He said while backing up.
I looked around at all the newspapers and things plastered on the walls. Guess this guy is super into SciFi.
“Whatever, alright! I got 10 days to find them and save the world, and I’m gonna need your help to find them.”
I looked at him when he said that. Something about what he said rang a bell in my head. God why I can’t I remember anything clearly!
He turned to me. “And you? What’s your name?”
I shook my head solemnly and looked down at the ground. “I really wish I could tell you but I just can’t remember anything clearly.” I said truthfully.
“Well what was the last thing you do remember.” He said, this time his tone was more sympathetic.
“I remember being somewhere and..and opening a door, I think. The next thing I know is falling onto the pavement in that alleyway.”
“Hmm..” was all he said before taking a sip of coffee.
“I know I sound absolutely crazy but it’s true!”
“Well, my whole life is crazy so I understand” he sighed.
“I must’ve accidentally time traveled you too along with the rest of us.” He muttered before looking me up and down. “I can tell you’re from my time, your clothes don’t match the sixties fashion.”
My eyes widened. “Wait hold up..did you just say the sixties?!” I looked over at the other man. He waved at me but I just stared in disbelief. “Plus you also have a cellphone in your back pocket.” I reached down to my back pocket and pulled out my phone. “Oh shit maybe this could help me..” I tried pressing the home button but it wouldn’t turn on. “Just my luck, it’s dead. I doubt there’s a charger around here.” I said sadly as I put it back in my pocket.
“What I don’t understand is how you knew what was going to happen. Is that your power?” He asked nonchalantly. As if having powers is normal.
I knitted my brows is confusion. “My powers?! What are talking about, I don’t know! How do I even know your name? I’m not sure about that either Five!” I crossed my arms around my torso and held myself tightly. “It’s like I know you somehow..all of you. This all just seems so vaguely familiar.”
“You know my siblings names too?” Five asked.
“Yeah there’s..” I ondered on the thought for a few seconds before I could clearly say each of their names. “Diego, Vanya, Klaus, Allison, and Luther.” I said without a second hesitation.
Five looked up at you in curiosity. He’s never met anyone quite like you. Suddenly I got flashes of what seemed like memories. Of the brother Diego. He was in a hospital of sorts and he seemed to be sitting in a circle of patients, talking.
“I think I might be able to help you look for one of your brothers?” I said sounding more like I was asking a question.
Five nodded. “Where do we start?”
“I wanna say he’s in a sort of hospital or something. l don’t really know where for sure though.” I shrugged.
“She right actually!” Elliot chimed in. He went over to a desk drawer and pulled out a newspaper clipping. “Disturbed man with multiple knives arrested outside 1026 N. Beckley.” I read aloud.
“Diego.” Five muttered as we looked at the article. Five then took the paper from Elliot and put it in his pocket. “Let’s go, you’re gonna help me find all of them.” He said to me.
He began walking away towards the door, ready to start his mission.
“Woah woah woah! Hold on mister, what makes you think I should come with you? Have you forgotten about the three men that were shooting at us? There’s a fat chance that they’ll still be hunting us!”
Five turned back to me and shrugged. “They’re hunting me not us. They’re the Swedes as everyone would call them. They’re brothers and they work for my former employer at the Commission. I already know how to handle them. That won’t be our problem.”
“I don’t know Five. I might just slow you down. I’m a liability..”
He shrugged again. “Maybe you can actually fight, we don’t know that yet.” He smiled and I rolled my eyes. I decided to follow anyways.
“Key word Five, ‘yet’. And I don’t think I wanna know if we really do get in trouble.” I said as we walked out the door
In a short time we found the hospital Diego resided. So are we breaking him out of here or what’s the plan?” I asked as we went inside the large building. “I’m not entirely sure yet..” Five said.
Five talked to the front desk lady and she led us to a visiting room where we waited for them to bring Diego to us.
The orderlies led Diego in the room a few minutes later. “Five.” Diego stated as if he didn’t believe it was really him. He glanced at me as he sat down on the chair across from us but quickly put his attention back onto Five.
“Hey Diego.” Five replied back. All were quiet until Five broke the silence. “You look good in white.” He sarcastically remarked. Diego rolled his eyes. “About time you show up.”
“How’d you know I’d be back?” Five questioned.
“Because that’s the kind of shit you pull.” Diego said as if it were obvious.
“Where are the others?” Five asked.
“They’re not with you?” He said then glanced at me again. “And who’s this?” He said confused.
I smiled slightly and put my hand out to shake his. “Hi, I’m...well actually I don’t know who I am.” Diego shook my hand and gave me a skeptic look and turned back to Five.
“It’s a long story but basically when we teleported, I accidentally teleported her too. I don’t know how exactly, time travel is a roll of the dice. I haven’t exactly worked out all the quirks..” Five explained.
They went on talking to each other as I started to drift into my thoughts. Why am I here? What’s wrong with my memory? None of this is making sense. I don’t belong here. I need to find a way home. All Five seems to care about is this doomsday thing. It all just seems too unreal!
I was brought back to reality when I heard Five stand up and shout. “Guard! My brother here is plotting an escape. The bars in his room have been shaved down.”
In a matter of milliseconds Diego jumped up and pranced forward trying to strangle Five as the guards tried to hold him back. I quickly stood up trying not to get in the way. A nurse then came in and injected Diego with something causing him to knock out. Five tugged at my shoulder and leaned in to whisper something. “We’ll come back for him later.” He said and began walking away with me following right behind.
“How could you let them do that to your poor brother?” I said. He doesn’t look like he belongs in a nuthouse.
“Diego’s fine, he knows how to take care of himself. Like I said we’ll come back later.”
I sighed as we walked out the building. I gasped as a sudden flash of memories passed through my mind. I had to stand still afterwards. It had caused my head to start aching. “I need to sit down Five.” I said wearily. He led me over to a bench just outside the hospital entrance. “Did you just have another vision?” He asked with hope in his voice.
“Yeah Luther..” I groaned as I massaged my head.
“Well then let’s go.” He stood back up. Oh god how can he be so active all day and not rest for a minute?! I thought as I looked at him.
I made a tsk sound and shook my head. “No no no no, you can go find your other brother, I’m just going to stay right here.”
“What? Why!?” He frowned.
“Because Im tired Five! I can’t do this all day. I need to stop and think. It’s frustrating when you can’t remember shit!” I yelled and put head in my hands. Five looked down at me in sympathy. “I know it must be tough but don’t give up. I’m sure your memory will come back to you in time.”
“I sure hope so...” I said while looking back at him. “Which is why I think I should stay here. You said yourself you wanted to come back later on to get Diego anyways.” I said making a valid point.
“Hmm..I guess you’re right. You’re sure you’ll be fine here?”
“I’ll be good. There’s people all around here too so it’s not like the Swedes can just come up and shoot me.”
With that, I told Five the name of the Club Luther was at in my vision and he took off. Hours went by and soon it was night time. Five was nowhere to be seen. My memory didn’t come back yet either. I let out a huff as I waited on the bench. What do I do if Five doesn’t come back? I can’t break Diego out by myself. I can’t go back to Elliots because I don’t even know my way back. All I could was stay there. A few more hours went by and soon there were no more people walking about. I now started to regret not going with Five. It’s sketchy as hell out here by myself. Suddenly I saw a truck pull into the hospitals parking lot. It looked like a milk truck. Why the hell would a milk truck be here in the middle of the night? My question was answered when I saw the three men from earlier get out of the truck and load up their guns. I jumped off the bench and quickly tried to hide myself, scared that they were going to spot me. I watched as they made their way into the front doors. Shit they must be after Diego! What do I do? I don’t think I can fight. Five said Diego could take care of himself though. I trust that he can. My best bet is to try to make my way to Elliot’s home. I got up and began to walk away from the hospital.
It felt like I had been walking for a very long time with no final destination. I got myself lost. I ended up walking in a neighborhood. I could tell it was started to get very late because mostly all the house lights had turned off. As I turned down a street I saw flashing lights coming from the left of me. Police cars were surrounding someone’s house. They seemed to be arresting a man. I wondered what was going on. Before I could ponder on the thought any longer, something else caught my vision. I saw a fucking milk truck parked down the way. No way in hell thats them. The moment I saw the truck they seemed to have spotted me because the head lights turned on. “Fuck.” I said under my breathe and sprinted off down the street on my right. The car then began to chase me. I ran and ran as fast as my legs could take me. I tried to turn down every street I could so that I could loose them, but they always seemed to be on my tail. I made my way into a narrow alleyway. I took a right and then a left and then another left. To my surprise I had just lead myself into a dead end. “Just my luck..” I breathed out.
I turned to look to see if they were coming as I breathed heavily. All this anxiety wasn’t helping me catch my breathe. I looked around me to see if there was anything I could use to defend myself. Looking through a dumpster I luckily found a metal pipe. I held it up ready to swing at who ever tried to come near me. In the next few moments they came down the alleyway. With guns. How could I forget they had guns?! None the less I still remained calm with my metal pipe. As they approached me they saw that all I had to defend myself with was a metal pipe. They smirked and the one in the middle let out a small chuckle. The one in the middle that seemed to be like the leader put his gun away. The other two just lowered theirs. The leader made his way towards me. “Don’t you come any closer!” I yelled, tryingto sound mean but all I sounded like was scared. He went in for a swing but I dodged. I then went for a upper hand swing with the pipe but he quickly grabbed it. As if it were a reflex I picked up my leg and kicked him in the chest which caused him to fumble backwards. He looked taken aback for a quick second before resuming to fight me. How I had all these moves, I have no idea! I guess Five was right. Maybe I did know how to fight. Not good enough though. I went in with a high kick almost hitting his jaw but his reflexes were way faster than mine. He caught my foot before I could touch him and with the slightest effort he spun my whole body and I crashed onto the hard cement. I let out a groan and tried to crawl away to the wall to try and pick myself up. When I got to the wall the man turned me around as I stood there. I looked up at him with tears forming in my eyes. “Please don’t kill me..” I said in a hushed tone as I shook my head slightly. He looked at me with curiosity. His two brothers slowly approaching from behind him. He turned to look at the taller one and gave him a nod. I looked at them in confusion. What was their none spoken agreement?! Before I could think any longer the taller one turned his gun around and knocked me on the head causing me to pass out.

A Way to a Man’s Heart
Jim Hopper x Reader
A/N: commission for @strawberrybucky
Summary: Jim becomes insecure about the age gap between the two of you.
Tumblr media
Hawkins was cold, a bit gray in the early mornings – well, as early as their chief of police thought was earlier. Hopper leaned back into the seat of his truck. The police station looked peaceful as he fetched the pack of smokes on the passenger seat and light a cigarette. His back ached from a bad mattress but really, he knew it was because of the person who accompanied the other side of the bed. Hopper was not complaining, by all means, but you were a good bit younger than him and now as the morning fog crept into the small town – his body felt it. Yet, a smile appeared on his rough face, fingers grazed his beard as he smoothed it down, they way you often did. He thought of your pretty face and terrible laugh, the little snort that occasionally escaped, and he chuckled. Damn, he was pretty sure he was quite smitten and even in love, but duty called. So, he groaned and ignored the ache in his back as he got out of the car and slammed the door shut.
His boots stomped with his weight; each step closer to the front door of the station seemed heavier. He wanted to get back in the car and drive back to the cabin, maybe listen to some music as he made his way back to you. He would walk into the cabin, all quiet, hopefully finding you still in bed. Carefully, Hopper would take off his uniform and slip into bed, holding you close as the rest of the morning began to awake.  Eventually, he would get up before you and make sure to have breakfast ready for Eleven and you. That was what he really wanted to do, but at last, he had things he needed to do, and the first check on the list was to go inside to get yelled at about the smoking and the countless calls he was dodging from who ever had a single problem in town they wanted him to solve.
Why he continued to be chief? It was beyond him but deep down, he enjoyed the work – plus, someone had to do the dirty work. His fingers cradled the knob for a long moment, smoke billowing out the corner of his mouth and as he walked in, he told himself to make a quick beeline to his office but two swift steps in and he was being bombarded with questions and friendly insults from his subordinates.
“Well, look who decided to show up.” He ignored the sarcastic quip from one of his deputies and exhaled out smoke as his secretary, Florence rounded her desk and promptly plucked the cigarette from his mouth. He watched in disbelief for a moment, although this action had become a part of their daily morning schedule and sighed, asking what he had missed – sending the deputy a warning glare as he focused on Florence.
“Jim, you got Edith Mayweather on line two; she’s been calling all morning. “
“Okay, okay, Flo,” he grumbled, nearly to his door. Thinking he was finally in the clear, he slowly turned the knob, but the secretary had other plans. She barked for him to turn around and when he did, he was met with a stern, annoyed look. “Yes, Flo?”
“Do not yes me, Jim! I am tired of that women calling all morning, you need to go out to her farm and see what the fuss is about! She’s screaming my ear off about missing pumpkins or something other, please.”
The last word was more of a demand than a plead and Hopper knew to make that call first before anything else.  He nodded and promised to get on it right away, finally opening the door to his office but noting the little pain the lower of his back; he turned again and called for the woman.
“By any chance you got some pain pills. My back is aching like hell.”
Florence rolled her eyes but waved him over, Hopper smiled and walked over to her desk. He watched as she sat down on her wooden chair and fidgeted through the top draw, ransacking for the pharmaceutical goods. As he waited, he heard more rumbling from his deputies seated near the back of the room, minding their coffee and muffins. Jim ignored it at first, assuming they were just talking to each until he heard your name coming out of their mouths.
He whipped around and glared at the two men, asking them to repeat what they had said.
“Well, all I said, Chief was that you got yourself a pretty young thing. You must be careful, a man your age. She might break the horses back,” Deputy Brooks said, grin spacing from cheek to cheek. Hopper glared some more, and Brooks placed his mug down to hold up both hands in defense. “Just enjoy her while you can, a girl like that, she’s bound to wake up one day and find herself sleeping next to an old man. Gonna get the hell out of Dodge.”
“It’s Hawkins…” the other deputy corrected the man, but Brooks just shook his head and slapped him on the shoulder.
“No, it’s saying, you idiot.”
“Ignore them, Jim,” Florence said, shaking the bottle of pills in the air. Jim took them and stared down at the label, a mean streak brewed in his veins and all he wanted to do was whipped those two boys straight across town, but he knew better than to indulge them.  So, he just thanked the woman and started to move when she reached up and grabbed his hand. “Listen, Jim, I have seen the way that girl looks at you; you have nothing to worry about.
He thanked her again and walked to his office, glaring at the two men before walking in and slamming the door shut behind him. Flo meant well, but she used the word girl to describe you and that sent Hopper in a downward spiral of doubt. Sure, you were in your twenties and he in his late thirties, nearing forty but the two of you had gotten along really well. He had met you at the bar and spent the whole night joking and talking. After that, it took Hopper nearly a damn year to make it exclusive and the rest was settled. Eventually you spend most of the time at his place and when he finally did introduce you to Eleven, with much worry and apprehensive, the two of you hit it off so well. He adored watching you with her, patient and caring – and forever taking El’s side.
Leaning back into his chair, he felt his mood sour but grabbed the phone anyway and called Edith Mayweather back.
The cabin was quiet as he unlocked the door, but when he stepped inside, he heard music coming from El’s room. He frowned and called out her name, but she did not answer. Grumpy, he took off his jacket and tossed it on the nearby couch, fumbling to hang his hat up on the wall. All day he was irritable, and nothing got done at the station, the only accomplishment was finishing off his pack of smokes – his ashtray was filled up by the time he left.
“You’re back.”
He placed his keys onto the coffee table as you emerged from the bedroom, a basket of clean clothes in hand. Hopper gave a small smile and walked over to the fridge for a beer, noticing the empty carton of Egg-O’s on the counter.
“Don’t tell me she ate the rest of the Egg-O’s.”
“I won’t tell you then,” you teased, sensing something was brewing. Hopper groaned and turned to you, leaning back into the counter. His hands gripped the edge and he glared – that Hopper glare of his and you stared right back. “Oh, someone is in a good mood today. Maybe you need a nap.”
“What the hell does that supposed to mean? That I’m old and decrepit?”
Your eyes widen and Hopper folded his arms against his chest, looking out the small kitchen window. He felt guilty then and annoyed that he let Brook’s and Flo’s comments get to him, especially now when he was standing right in front of you.
“Jim you are not old and decrepit.”
“Maybe I’m too old for you,” he whispered, unable to meet your gaze. “Maybe we’re fooling ourselves in thinking this could actually work – I mean, let’s be a little realistic here. I’m about to be forty and you haven’t hit thirty yet. You’re going to want kids and all that, and I don’t think I have anything left in me.”
His doubt was clear on his face and you wonder where this all was coming from, wondered if he was right and quickly wondered why you were thinking he was right. There was nothing more that you wanted than Jim Hopper and everything that came along with him – daughter and cabin.
“I’m sure you’ve heard this plenty of times, but you are an idiot, Jim Hopper. I love you and want to be with you, that’s it. I don’t want to hear any more of this old man crap.” The man’s face fell as an amused smile held your mouth. He watched as you made your way to him, crossing the room to the kitchen. His body relaxed as you slipped a hand around his neck and leaned into his body. He was warm and smelled like coffee and tobacco, his beard a bit rough as your fingers attempted to tame it down. Jim smiled then and sighed, dipping his head forward. His forehead landed softly against yours and his hands fell to your waist, the two of you began to sway to the muffled music coming from Eleven’s room, and then his lips were on yours.
Jim kissed you gently, longing as you held his face in your hands. He bucked his hips forward and you applied further pressure against him. His back ached a bit, but he decided it was worth the pain, nothing a little of Flo’s healing pills to do the job. It was silly, he knew that now, to ponder about what others thought of your relationship. This is what mattered, coming home to a warm house and warmer reception – being able to let go of the things that held him back from loving again. It happened with El, she saved him and now you were here to set him free – to let him love again and to be loved.
“Man,” he murmured, kissing you again before pulling away. He tugged you closer and felt the weight of your head on his chest, his arms wrapping around you to hold you tight. Kissing your forehead, he apologized for his attitude. “I let those jerks at the station get to me, sorry for taking it out on you.”
“It’s okay,” you promised, leaning back to look at him. He looked like he needed a warm meal and a good night’s sleep. You would call Flo in the morning to let her know Jim was taking the morning off, that he would be in late afternoon and to only call for an emergency. “Why don’t you go say hi to the kid and I’ll cook us some steaks.”
Relief flooded Jim’s veins as you kissed him on the cheek and smacked his butt when he started to walk off, he laughed and turned back to you for another kiss. His lips pressed hard into yours and he cradled your face. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” you grinned, pushing away. “Go on, go say hi to your daughter.”
Hopper did as he was told but stopped near the couch and asked if Mike was over again, you said yes but explained that you promptly escorted him out when you caught El’s door closed while you were out hanging the laundry. His eyes lit up and he formed a fist in the air before pointing a finger at you.
“Now that’s the way to my heart.”

Part 2: Here!
Real quick; word count is 1046! Got a little wordy lol but I think it needed to be longer. I just couldn’t whittle it down any more.
Anyway, here we go!
God Bless and Good Day!
~The Lupine Sojourner
Izuku knew he was playing a dangerous game. There was hardly any reason for Shigaraki to trust him or even let him into the League, but...here he was.
“So...Izuku Midoriya…” Tomura murmurs in that creepy voice of his. Izuku made himself look neutral, unaffected, but it was hard. “What brings you here?”
If Izuku hadn’t determined what he’d say beforehand, he’d have panicked and probably said the wrong thing. But he had given what he’d say a lot of thought, and he felt fairly confident it would work.
“...No one was there to correct those awful things that happened to me nearly every day while I was growing up. Katsuki Bakugo has been bombarding me with hateful, cruel comments and wanton violent acts since we were little kids. I’d hoped someone would stop him or he’d become mature enough to give up what he was doing to me, but the acts and words never stopped.” While all he said was true to an extent, Izuku had seen subtle improvement in Kacchan’s attitude. Whether that was because of the Kamino Ward Incident, Izuku didn’t truly know, but he did know that Kacchan was maturing and so was Izuku. “Even now he’s horrible, and no one checks his actions and words. I grew tired of it and decided to show them that bullies create monsters, that evil can take root anywhere.” That caught Shigaraki’s attention, Izuku could tell. Good. He hated lying about someone he’d known so long, but it seemed to have worked.
“So, you want to make society take more notice and action against bullies. That’s why you reached out to me?” Izuku nods.
“Yeah. I want to make the world see that kids who are bullied shouldn’t be ignored when they report the problem. Bullying and harassment happen everyday and no one does a thing. I want to fix that, show them the consequences of standing idly by.” Shigaraki smiles.
“Compelling, but how can I trust you? After all, you defended Bakugo from my colleagues when we tried to recruit him.” Izuku had known this question was coming, swallowing back nerves.
“I hadn’t fully decided to commit to evil. Fighting Muscular made it clear I couldn’t win against you all and the Kamino Ward Incident fully opened my eyes.”
Shigaraki chuckles, then tilts his head, considering Izuku’s words. “Well then, welcome aboard, Midoriya.”

The next hour or so was a waiting game for Izuku.
He bet UA was trying to figure out what he was thinking, and that Aizawa, if anyone, could figure out why he went with the League. He’d texted Toshinori moments before the League showed up so All Might couldn’t stop him.
Izuku wanted to capture the League by himself to prove himself worthy of All Might’s power and the position of #1 hero eventually. If he could do that, then this would all be worth it.
He’d earn 1-A’s trust again after probably shattering it by his apparent betrayal. He’d become a Hero and rise to the #1 spot, just like All Might had, but he’d carve his own path. He’d determine his own future.
=#=#=#=#=
“No offense, but...why us?” Akiyama asks tentatively. Shota tilts his head, eyeing her.
“Minato, you can create and manipulate mountains. That’s a useful ability to subdue or attack opponents. Also, you can defend against the larger-scale attacks the League can throw at us. Kirishima’s Hardening is a virtually impenetrable defense in closer quarters. Bakugo is the opposite end of the spectrum, his Quirk allowing for large scale attacks to counter the League’s. And, given that he seems to have something to do with Midoriya’s decision, he is coming to try to get through to him.” Bakugo grits his teeth. No need to remind him. This whole incident was a reliving of his worst moments. “Shoto is also here for his attack power.” Shota continues, centering the focus back on the task at hand, “And he could also help Minato in defense if necessary. That’s why you four are coming.” The team nods. They all wanted to get to the bottom of what happened and get Midoriya back. They’d do what it takes.
There’s suddenly a knock at the door and Toshinori walks in.
“He’s moved! The signal from the tracker jumped again. This time it’s on the edge of a 100-mile radius of Kamino Ward.” Aizawa grits his teeth.
“Alright, we have to move quickly before the League move with him again.” The four students nod and follow their teachers.
“They’re closer to us now but not by much.” Toshinori notes.
“Keep that signal up. We need to know the signal’s precise location at a moment’s notice.” Shota orders.
=#=#=#=#=
Arriving, the team walked quickly toward the source of the signal, wearing civilian clothes to avoid recognition of a possible tip-off of the League. So far it seemed to be working.
However, the closer they got, the more the signal moved around. It seemed Izuku was staying relatively in the same place, but moving around that area quickly like he was…
like he was fighting.
“Come on! Let’s get moving already!” Bakugo hisses impatiently. He wanted this incident behind him.
Shota sighs. “We go too quick and we could alert the League and jeopardize Midoriya’s safety. Now be quiet and follow my lead.” On the way to Kamino Ward, Shota had told the kids what Toshinori told him.
Izuku had texted him about going undercover and that he shouldn’t worry cus Izuku could handle it.
In reality, that wasn’t entirely true; Izuku seemed to be in a lot of trouble.
They needed to move quickly. Risk be damned.
=#=#=#=#=
Izuku should have known it would end like this.
He had been out with Dabi, Toga, and Magna for some kind of initiation when he’d slipped up and blown his cover.
He was now fighting for his life, and it was starting to look like he wouldn’t make it out. Then Aizawa and a handful of his classmates, including Katsuki, were coming around the corner.
He foolishly assumed the villains were as distracted as he was, turning his head toward the League members. “What are you doing h- -Agh!”
A knife, propelled by Magna’s Quirk, dug into Izuku’s back, his scream echoing eerily off the walls.

No Hargreeves Left Behind
Klaus ends up in the hospital after an accidental overdose. He leaves with some bad news.

The Umbrella Academy Writing Masterlist
Klaus had a fear of death. It came naturally with his powers. Good ol’ Sir Reginald Hargreeves hated that. He locked Klaus in a mausoleum to try to force the fear out of him, but he just made it worse. Unless he was high or drunk, he was constantly bombarded by the screams of the dead. No matter how hard he tried to shut them out, there they were, yelling his name, begging for him to listen to them. However, this fear didn’t stop it from constantly being on his mind. He figured he’d die in an alleyway, or beat to shit by a robber, or on the floor of a rave when his heart finally gives out, or when he finally decides enough is enough and strolls off the side of a building. But never, ever did he expect this.
The steady beep of the heart monitor was enough to drive anyone insane, but especially a man going through withdrawal who just found out he had a chronic disease. It was grating against his skull. He took a deep breath and ripped the sensors off his skin. The momentary blissful silence was interrupted by an even louder constant high pitched sound. Instantly, the room was overcrowded with loud nurses fretting about him and messing with the wires and tubes connected to him. As soon as they came, they disappeared with everything back in order, leaving Klaus alone again. A small, silent tear slipped down his cheek as he turned to shut out the world.
“You’re going to have to tell them eventually,” came a voice from the other side of the room. “They are your family, you know.”
Klaus rolled his eyes and groaned. “Leave me alone, Ben. I don’t want to deal with this right now.”
“Wow, love you too.”
He sighed. “I love you, Ben.” For a moment, the only sound in the room was the beeping and hissing of the machines. Klaus spoke up again. “They wouldn’t care. Our siblings, they… well, you’ve seen how they act around me. They don’t take me seriously, they don’t notice when I’m gone. Not to mention I’m a horrible brother. Hell, I sold Five out to some fucking psychos for some drugs! Why would they suddenly care now that their poor, poor Klaus suddenly up and got himself… well, you know what.”
“Well, maybe if you sobered up, they wouldn’t have reason to believe that everything you say is just some part of a hallucination.”
A soft knock on the wooden door interrupted the two. He hissed at Ben before calling the person to come in. “Hi, I’m Clara, a nurse here at the hospital. I was wondering if there was anybody we could call? Maybe a family member or a close friend?”
Ben looks at her. “This is your chance, Klaus. Give her somebody’s number!”
Klaus’s hesitation made the nurse, Clara, a bit confused. “Should I come back another time?”
“No, no, no. There’s no use. Nobody would come.”
“I see. Well, call if you think of somebody, okay? You don’t have to go through this alone.”
“I’ll be... Thank you.”
The door quietly clicked closed and Ben scoffed. “You’re sitting here, wallowing in your own misery, telling everybody that you’re so alone when you have five people you could call! I’m sick and tired having to sit here and watch you throw away the family you have. I wish I could have all of these people here for me. But no, I’m just stuck here with your pathetic ass.”
“Wow. Tell me how you really feel.” Klaus muttered.
Klaus had to sit in that sterile room with only Ben and the voices of countless other dead to keep him company for weeks before he was finally let out. There he stood on the sidewalk, his overcoat hanging even looser off his shrunken frame. With a swing of his right foot, he turned to walk towards an alleyway he knew.
“Where are you going?” Ben scolded, but he didn’t really need an answer. He knew.
Klaus answered anyway. “I need another hit. I’m tired of sobriety.”
“Are you fucking kidding me, Klaus?” Ben was pissed. Klaus couldn’t remember the last time he’d seen his brother that mad. “You are going to the Academy and you are telling our family! They can help!”
“I don’t need their fucking help. I don’t want to go on the doctor’s stupid meds. It’s not like I can afford them anyway! Besides, the only pills I want are the ones that will make me numb. Those are the ones that will help.”
“I swear--”
“Fuck off, Ben.” Klaus began to walk away, but without much conviction. His step faltered when he didn’t hear a response. “Uh, Ben? Don’t you have something witty to say?” He turned around and only saw an empty sidewalk behind him. “Fine.” Klaus’s voice broke, but he didn’t cry. He was stronger than that.
Across the city sat the rest of the Hargreeves family in the Umbrella Academy mansion. They all sat in the bar area, but none of them drank. In fact, most of them kicked that habit after the apocalypse. However, their ordinary, non-alcoholic conversation was soon interrupted by a long dead brother.
“What the fuck?” Five exclaimed. The others shouted in surprise.
“Ben? Is that you?” Allison shakily asked.
He sighed. “Yes, it is. And as wonderful as it would be to catch up with you guys and have a whole family outing where we all spill our deepest secrets and eat flowers all day, there is a certain somebody missing from this equation.”
“Who, Klaus?” Luther scoffed.
“Yes, Klaus! Your brother that’s been missing for the past two weeks; the one you guys didn’t care enough to go look for! He needs your help. He’s headed towards the alley by the theater. Go find him and bring him back here. It’s important.” And with that, Ben faded away.
Five was the next to disappear, deciding using his powers was quicker than waiting for the others to drive him. Besides, he could at least try to talk Klaus down while they were on their way.
Klaus hadn’t spoken a word. Not to Five when he appeared next to him and punched him in the face when Klaus tried to push him away. Not to the others when they arrived, all paranoid and concerned. And not to Diego, who desperately tried to get him to talk by cracking the usual jokes. He just sat on the floor by the couch in the main room and stared off into the distance. The Hargreeves family passed nervous glances to each other, not exactly sure how to start things off.
Vanya spoke first. “Where were you?”
Klaus hesitated. His gaze drifting over to Ben, who motioned for him to answer. “I overdosed and ended up in the hospital. I just needed a hit and I guess it was laced with something because I blacked out in the park. And I woke up in that dumbass hospital room.”
“Why did they hold you for so long?” Diego knew enough about hospitals to know that ODs don’t usually take more than a week until discharge.
“They had to run other tests and… please don’t make me say it,” he winced.
“I don’t understand. What do you mean?” Luther frowned
“Just say it,” Ben urged. “It’s like ripping of a band-aid, right?”
Klaus’s gaze whipped over to Ben and glared, hard. “Fine. I’m HIV positive.” And that’s when Klaus broke down. He always hated crying in front of his siblings, preferring to keep up the goofy façade. He was the comic relief of the family, and he liked that role. He never needed to be open about his feelings, he could always brush them off and nobody questioned it. But this time he couldn’t.
Allison and Luther gasped, Diego let out a string of curse words, Vanya dejectedly looked down at her hands, and Five whispered “Holy shit,” to himself. He pushed down the memories of the HIV/AIDS epidemic he had to see while he was working for the Commission and cringed at his brother. “Jesus, Klaus.”
“Yeah, well it’s my own goddam fault, isn’t it? Passing around needles, and well, you know. A man has to make money somehow, right?” He tried his hardest to crack a smile at his pitiful excuse for a joke at his own expense, but they all saw past it.
“Isn’t there a way to treat it? Like a medicine or something?” Allison shifted in her seat, holding her coffee cup close to her like it would protect her heart from the future trauma.
Klaus scoffed dryly. “Oh, yes there is. But it is also costs thousands of dollars that I don’t have unless I go back to doing what may have gotten me here in the first place. Not all of us are as rich and famous as you, dear sister of mine.” He could hear Ben tutting at him and decided to dial back the deflection. “Sorry. I shouldn’t have snapped.”
Vanya shook her head. “Don’t apologize. You’re going through a lot and you’re stressed.”
“I can’t go on the medication because it’s too expensive. And no, I’m not asking any of you for money. I didn’t really even want to tell you guys. Stress and all, you know? You’ve been through a lot, and you don’t have to go through this too.”
“What are you talking about?” Diego tried his hardest to keep his anger out of his voice, resulting in a slight stutter. “Of course we’re going to help you!”
“Yeah, remember what we decided after we came back? No Hargreeves left behind, and that wasn’t just for my sake.” Vanya’s voice was much quieter than Diego’s, and for that Klaus was grateful. “We’re a team. We’re here for each other every step of the way.”
“And if that means we have to chip in a few dollars, you damn better know we are going to do that.” Luther added, puffing out his chest.
Klaus honestly had no idea what to say. He sat back against the couch, stunned. Why was his family doing this? They had no reason to be there for him, yet here they were offering up their hard earned money to get him medicine for something that was his own fault. He sniffled and wiped his nose against his sleeve. “I don’t know what to say, you guys.” He cleared his throat and continued. “Thank you all so much.”
Suddenly he was surrounded by the warm, protective arms of his five brothers and sisters. After a moment, another set of arms, Ben’s, was added to the pile. Klaus’s wet gaze connected with Ben’s. Thank you, he mouthed silently at him, before closing his eyes and enjoying his family’s loving embrace.

Snow Storms and Sleepovers
December 4th - Snow | Day four of my 25 Days of Miraculous!
Some chlolyanette for @squirrelstone! This was longer than I expected it to be, and also it’s 14 days late I’m so sorry. Thanks for requesting, I hope you enjoy it!
AO3 | Commissions
Chloe Bourgeois hated snow.
Sure, it was pretty at first, beautiful even. And then, it turned to nasty, dirt-infused slush that made the ground slippery and uglier than it had been before. It also made her get up earlier to go to school, because the traffic was even worse with it, if that was possible.
Her biggest reason for hating it, though, was because it reminded her of herself. It reminded her how beauty was ephemeral, and once she lost that, she would be just as ugly as the slush.
That’s why, when Chloe finally got to school, her signature Chloe Bourgeois Scowl was in place, scaring off the underclassmen that didn’t know her, and knew instead the terrible rumors that still circulated these halls.
Ignoring them, she made her way to class and, the second she stepped through the door, she was instantly bombarded by cheers.
“Happy birthday!” everyone shouted, popping up from behind their desks. Marinette and Alya, bless their hearts, practically vaulted over their desks to smother her in hugs
“Um... what?” she asked, surprised and very confused. She was pretty sure her birthday wasn’t in the winter, and that everyone knew it.
“We saw you walking up from your car,” Marinette started.
“And you looked a little...” Alya said, trailing off to look at Adrien, who was walking over from behind them.
“Frosty,” he finished, laughing when Chloe flipped him off.
“Did we surprise you?” Marinette asked, pulling away from the hug so that Chloe could get to her seat and set her tings down.
“Well, considering it’s not my birthday and I had no way to see this coming, yeah, I was pretty surprised,” she said with a roll of her eyes.
“Then I say it was a success,” Alya stated matter-of-factly, pulling away and high-fiving Marinette.
“Now set your stuff down already, I have something for you!”
“I thought we agreed today wasn’t my birthday,” Chloe said dryly, walking over to her desk to set her bag down anyways. She draped her coat over her seat and stretched for a moment before turning back to Marinette and Alya.
In Marinette’s hand, there lay a cute little raspberry danish, the handiwork on its icing very clearly Marinette’s. In Alya’s, a cup of still-steaming coffee, Alya’s number written on the cup alongside a misspelling of Chloe’s name.
Any lingering dread over the snow still raining down on Paris vanished along with her scowl, and Chloe smiled at both of them.
“Best girlfriends ever,” she said, taking both and setting them at her spot.
“We know,” they said in unison.
She wanted to say something more, but just then, their teacher came in and called for the class to settle down. Marinette and Alya sat down next to each other and immediately launched into whispers. Adrien took his seat by Chloe, trying (and failing) to sneak a bite of the danish she’d been given.
Chloe took out her notebook, broke a piece of the danish off for Adrien, and resigned herself to a boring day of boring classes.
When the bell letting students out for the day finally rang, Chloe gathered all her things and headed to the spot outside of the school where she, Alya, and Marinette always met.
She arrived first, surprisingly, and watched the students pour out of the building. By the time most of them had passed her by, the snow on the steps and on the sidewalk had turned into what she hated most. Grimacing at the nasty slush being splashed through by the remaining stragglers, Chloe busied herself with her phone until her girlfriends finally came out.
“Chlo, there you are!” Alya shouted, waving her over.
“What do you mean, this is where we always meet.”
“Yeah, but it’s cold out; last week we agreed to meet inside the library, remember?”
“Um, of course I remember,” she lied, “I was just seeing if you guys remembered.”
The truth of the matter is, Chloe had a very hard time remembering details like that when they were discussed in person. Honestly, how could anyone expect her to remember something like that when she was lost in Alya’s eyes, or when Marinette’s laugh drowned out any other sound? It really wasn’t fair.
“Uh huh, sure,” Marinette said, reaching out to grab one of her hands. She jerked back when their fingers brushed. “Jeez, your hands are freezing! Let’s stop by my place real quick so we can get you some gloves, yeah?”
“Only if I can get some hot chocolate too.” Chloe put her phone away and fixed a stray hair.
“Oh, me too! With a lot of marshmallows, of course,” Alya added.
“Of course,” Marinette agreed, shaking her head in a loving manner. “C’mon, the sooner we get gloves and hot chocolate, the sooner we can go out to eat.”
As soon as she said that, a large gust of wind swept through, chilling Chloe to the bone. Glaring at the clouds above and seeing no end to them in the distance, she had the feeling they wouldn’t be going out that night after all.
Her feeling turned out to be right. They’d fought through the wind, hail, and snow to get to Marinette’s parents’ bakery, and by the time they all had gloves and hot chocolates, Tom had come up to tell them the news.
“The storm’s still going pretty hard,” he told them. “Sabine and I think it would be best if you girls didn’t go out until it passed.”
“But Papa, we-”
“No buts, Marinette. We’re just looking out for your safety.” With a kiss to the top of her head, Tom went back downstairs.
“You see, this is why I hate the snow,” Chloe grumbled out, plopping onto living room’s couch.
“Hold up,” Alya started. “You hate the snow?”
“Of course I do! There’s nothing to like about it!”
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that,” Marinette said, setting her hot chocolate down so she could take off her layers.
“Yeah? Then please, shed some light on just what’s so great about snow when it turns into that nasty slush and keeps us from going on dates.”
“Well, for starters...” Marinette threw her coat in the corner of the room and threw herself on the couch beside Chloe. Alya sat on the arm of it so Chloe was between them. “If it weren’t for the snow, we wouldn’t be about to cuddle on this here couch.”
“And, without the snow, we wouldn’t be able to go up on Mari’s balcony later to have a snowball fight that I’ll beat you both at,” Alya pitched in.
Marinette took up the tv remote and turned it on, flipping through the channels until she came to a movie all three of them would like.
“Plus, it’s just super pretty to see the city covered in snow. All the lights make it beautiful.”
As if the universe were listening in on their conversation, the power went out.
Chloe jumped to her feet. “See!? The snow is awful! Storms are awful!”
“Okay, I see your point.” Marinette stood and walked over to one of the cabinets. “But also consider how romantic it’ll be when-” she reached in and pulled out candles- “we’re sitting upstairs watching the snow fall while we all relax in a candle-lit room.”
“I can play some of Nino’s mixes from my phone for us too,” Alya suggested, sliding off the couch’s arm and already heading to Marinette’s room.
Chloe sighed and followed after her, Marinette following behind them both with a few candles in her arms. She sat on the chaise while Marinette and Alya prepped everything, only getting up when Alya threw a pair of Marinette’s pajamas at her.
Once she was changed into them, she looked at herself in the mirror and had to appreciate just how well she could pull off reindeer and Christmas trees.
Alya came up from behind, wrapping her arms around Chloe’s waist and setting her head on her shoulder.
“You know, only female reindeer keep their antlers in the winter, which means all of Santa’s reindeer are girls. The chance of at least two of them being lesbians is at an all-time high.”
Laughing, Chloe kissed Alya on the cheek as she unhooked Alya from her waist. “And how do you know all that?”
“Adrien’s been blogging about it for like a week. He’s sent me a 13-snap snapstory explaining it.”
“Oh my god, of course he has. I’m so glad he can send that stuff to you guys now. I literally could not stand another year of Santa-related conspiracy theories.”
“His theory this year is really good, you should ask him about it,” Marinette called from up on her bed. “But do that later. For now, come on up you two.”
Exchanging a quick glance, Alya gestured for Chloe to lead. Walking up the stairs, Chloe wasn’t sure what she’d expected, really, but when she reached the top, the first thought that crossed her mind was how comfortable Marinette looked.
"Lay down with me, I won’t bite much,” Marinette teased, patting the spots beside her.
Without responding, Chloe climbed in with her, and Alya joined right after.
“Alya, music, if you’d please?”
“Sure thing, babes,” she said, turning on one of Nino’s softer playlists and setting it on a shelf behind them.
They didn’t do much talking after that, simply enjoying their time in each others’ presence. Marinette’s fingers played through Alya’s hair, and then turned to Chloe’s. Sometimes they’d kiss for a little, but mostly they just watched through the hatch as snow slowly covered it up.
Alya was the first to fall asleep, the darkness from the storm and soft music lulling her to sleep. Chloe could feel Marinette beginning to nod off too, but before she did, Chloe asked her a question.
“Marinette?”
“Yeah, Chloe?” she responded with a yawn.
“Do you still like the snow when it’s no longer pretty?”
“Sure I do. Papa and Maman used to take me on walks and swing me by their arms so I could splash in it better. Just ‘cause it’s not pretty doesn’t mean it’s not still fun.” She yawned again.
Chloe hummed and considered her girlfriend’s answer. They fell back into an easy silence, and when Chloe thought of how to reply, she found Marinette snoozing on her arm.
“Sleep well, you guys,” she murmured, raising herself up just enough to kiss them both on their foreheads. She settled herself back down against the pillows and sighed.
In that moment, there was no place she’d rather be.
Chloe Bourgeois loved the snow for that.

It was hard to not scroll through Instagram without being bombarded with people tagging her in pictures hoping to be recognized by Tom, being sent direct messages asking for personal information about her and Tom’s relationship, and even having reporters pose as fans online. Social media became a form of hell for (Y/N) after she started dating Tom, but seeing the photo Robert Downey Jr. tagged Tom in earlier today had been a relief from the regular occurring torment.
“You didn’t tell me Benedict Cumberbatch was going to be there,” she gasped while turning to face Tom as he sat in the driver’s seat, maneuvering his way around Atlanta traffic.
“You’re such a Sherlock nerd I figured you’d deduce that much,” he replied with a smirk.
“Will you please just tell me who all is going to be there?” she begged.
“And ruin the surprise?” he laughed as (Y/N) continued to pretend pout in the passenger seat. As they pulled into a large parking lot surrounded by fences and electronic gates, (Y/N) shifted impatiently in her seat.
“Can you promise me one thing?” she asked as Tom looked over at her with a smile on his face as his eyes beamed into hers.
“Anything love,” he said softly.
“Don’t let me make a fool of myself,” she stated while only lead Tom into a lighthearted laugh. “I’m serious!” she quickly protested. “Don’t let me look like an idiot in front of anyone, okay?!” Tom continued to laugh and pursed her lips together and narrowed her eyes at him. Upon seeing this, Tom placed his hands on either side of her face and smiled.
“There is no way anyone could think you’re an idiot, (Y/N), but I will make sure you don’t turn into a luny fangirl in front of anyone,” he promised before placing his lips on hers.
“That is all I ask for,” she laughed in response as Tom pulled her into one last kiss before exiting the vehicle and hurrying to her door. From the outside, everything seemed normal; big white buildings towered over the trailers, golf carts hurriedly scurried through open pathways, and people walked wherever shade was available. There was nothing too different or exciting about set upon first laying eyes on it, and Tom knew this.
“What’s the matter?” he teased (Y/N), “Why aren’t you excited?” Figuring he was taunting her for getting herself worked up about a bunch of buildings, (Y/N) shrugged in a slightly defeated manner which only caused Tom to suppress the sly grin he had been hiding while his heart jumped from excitement.
“What are all these buildings?” she asked, trying not to sound let down but rather inquisitive of her surroundings.
“Different studios and such,” Tom continued while peeling away from his girlfriend’s side and bounding up a couple of metal steps toward a doorway. “This way, love,” he called to her as she continued her pace toward him. He opened the door and escorted her into the dark room. (Y/N) clung to Tom’s arm, afraid of getting lost and not being able to find her way out--a very realistic fear considering Tom once unknowingly abandoned her in an escape room filled with porcelain dolls.
Tom flicked the lights on, illuminating the room they stood in. Immediately, (Y/N)’s eyes flashed to Tom in excitement, anticipation, and a slight bit of fear. Looking around, she realized she must have been standing in the wardrobe department since individual sections for each of the sixty-something main characters wardrobe changes hung on racks beside their respective props.
“Am I even allowed to be in here?” she asked Tom who shrugged in response. Honestly, he didn’t know where (Y/N) could and could not go, but the wide-eye heart fluttering excitement that flooded her beautiful face was something he couldn’t pass up regardless of rules. “Is that--” she couldn’t finish her sentence before she took a few steps closer to the relic that appeared to Steven Strange: the cloak of levitation. “No way!” she yelled as her attention flashed to Red Wing, Anthony Mackie’s character’s ‘pet’ robot. “And the wing pack?” she gasped while picking it up and then hurriedly glancing at Tom. “Can I?”
“It’s not like Anthony’s my biggest fan anyway,” he teased and watched as (Y/N) slid her arms into the prop with its wings already extended. With her back toward Tom, she glanced down over her shoulder to look at the wing only to hear the snapping noise of Tom’s phone as he took her photo. “You look much better in that than Anthony,” he teased.
“Don’t you dare send that to him!” she shouted.
“Fine,” Tom sighed, “I won’t yet.” (Y/N) rolled her eyes and then quickly put the prop back where she found it before rushing over to Peter Quill’s prop and wardrobe station. Immediately she put on the helmet, strapped the walkman to her belt loop, and held up his blaster and waited for Tom to take her picture again. For the next hour Tom followed his giddy girlfriend around as she grabbed whatever prop she could find and posed dorkily with them. By the end, in addition to the photos Tom already took, he had pictures of her peeking over the cloak of levitation, pretending to pick up Mjölnir and then raising the hammer victoriously, ducking behind Captain America’s new shield, raising her fist in the air as the infinity gauntlet covered the better part of her forearm, and his favorite: fem!spidey. Tom and (Y/N) had started dating shortly after the premier of Spider-Man: Homecoming and so the idea of her wearing the suit wasn’t possible until today.
“What do you think?” she asked while pretending to shoot webs at him.
“Damn I love you,” he laughed while taking numerous photos of his girlfriend being a dork in his costume. Oddly enough it fit her surprisingly well and, though he would never admit it, he loved seeing her in it more than he loved being Spider-Man. “If Peter Parker ever does a gender twist like Thor, I’ll commission for you to take over,” Tom said while pulling (Y/N) into a hug.
“You’re a dork,” she laughed at him while wrapping her arms around his waist.
“You’re the one in the Spider-Man suit!”
“You’re the one getting off on it!”
“Shut up,” he muttered in a fluster as his cheeks turned a light shade of pink. “Change back, it’s nearly lunch and some people are excited to meet you.” Once (Y/N) was back in her t-shirt and shorts, Tom grabbed her hand and the pair left out the door they came in and started walking toward where the trailers were gathered.
“Where are we going?” she asked as Tom put his arm around her waist and she did the same to him.
“Downey Town,” he said proudly.
“I won’t want to go to town,” she said in a complaining tone, teasing Tom.
“When are you going be nice to me today?” he laughed while poking her sides. “You’re welcome for me making all of the mistakes you can learn from, by the way.”
“Thank you so much for embarrassing yourself back then so I can not seems as strange,” she replied, “but if you introduce me to Robert’s stunt double on purpose, I will hurt you, Holland.” The two arrived at a collection of trailers set up to remind (Y/N) of the way the cabins were described at Camp Half-Blood. Slowly, Tom and (Y/N) made their way into the grouping of trailers to see a large, standing extendable tent set up with benches and picnic tables placed underneath and a catering company setting up lunch. Throughout the courtyard were the various actors filming Infinity War this week. Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr. stood beside Benedict Cumberbatch and Benedict Wong just outside under the awning of one trailer and Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie and the Chrises were gathered together under another awning.
“Are you okay?” Tom asked (Y/N) again as her grip on his waist tightened unexpectedly.
“Y-yeah,” she started, “it’s just...there’s a lot of people.”
“You wanted to meet them all, right?” She found herself unable to respond and instead quickly nodded her head. “Well then, come on,” he smiled to her and pulled her toward RDJ’s gathering of actors.
“Tom,” (Y/N) murmured quietly they approached.
“Uh huh?”
“Don’t let me say Bobby Newport in a menacing voice near Paul Rudd,” she hurried to say.
“Why the hell would you say that?”
“Just don’t let me,” she stated, “okay?”
“Okay, love,” Tom laughed and pulled (Y/N) against his side in hopes to make her feel more comforted and less anxious. Before she knew it, (Y/N) was face to face with RDJ and Mark Ruffalo, who just happened to be the first two people to turn around as stye approached.
“Welcome to the party, Tom,” Robert called while stretching out his arm and taking Tom under him in a side hug. “And this must be the lovely, (Y/N) I’ve heard so much about,” he said while pulling her into a warm hug and kissing her cheek. He left his arm across her shoulders and looked between Tom and (Y/N) before turning his attention back to the girl. “Blink twice if he’s got you under some sort of Stockholm Syndrome thing,” Robert joked, “it’s the only way a guy like him could get someone as gorgeous as you.” (Y/N) could feel her face blush a little at his compliment but was quick to humble herself.
“I’m the lucky one,” she laughed. “Had there not been a screw up with my hotel room, we would have never met.”
“And then we would have never met, and I mean, come on,” he said while raising his hands in the air and moving them up and down like a triple beam balance, “me, Tom, me, Tom. Me? Tom?” A smirk grew across Tom’s lips as he tipped his side of Robert’s imaginary scale upward.
“Tom,” he said with a smile as his fingers found their way toward (Y/N)’s. As soon as (Y/N) was beginning to grow comfortable in her situation, Tom, Robert, Mark, and Wong were whisked away to help with food set up, leaving (Y/N) in the company of Benedict Cumberbatch, AKA Sherlock Holmes, AKA her favorite childhood icon.
“Hello,” he said with a smile and then extending his hand, “I don’t believe we’ve met.” She graciously took his hand in hers and smiled.
“I’m (Y/N),” she said quickly. “I’m visiting Tom today on set--Tom Holland, not Hiddleston, but if you know where he is I wouldn’t mind visiting him either,” she laughed anxiously. To her surprise, Benedict began to laugh as well.
“You’re Tom’s girlfriend, aren’t you?” he said in realization and slight surprise. (Y/N) nodded. “How did you meet? I know he told me you were a fan.” (Y/N) bit her lip and swallowed hard before speaking.
“I flew out to LA for Comic Convention and there was a mixup with my hotel rooms. They gave me the wrong key and wrong room number and it ended up being Tom’s room. Oddly enough I was at the convention to meet him in the first place.
“Funny how things worked out,” Benedict smiled.
“Yeah,” she said hesitantly.
“He speaks highly of you, you know?” he continued.
“Does he now?” (Y/N) began to laugh.
“One of the first things he said about you to me was how he tried to introduce you to ‘Sherlock--’”
“And I had seen more episodes than him?” I finished and Benedict nodded with a light grin on his face. “Yeah, I had a teacher in high school who played series one for us in class when we went over induction and deduction. Its’ easily one of my favorite shows.”
“What did you think of the plot line with Mary?” he asked, his voice holding genuine interest toward her opinion. Out of the corner of her eye, (Y/N) could see Tom returning and hurried to speak before he arrived.
“I enjoyed her character as well as what she brought to both John and Sherlock’s lives, but I also see that, with her past, and with Amanda and Martin splitting, there was no other way for it to end for her than the way it did.”
“I agree,” he smiled as Tom approached. “I love Amanda and I loved working with her and Martin but--and here’s a little slip about the next series--I think John and Sherlock are going to go back to their roots a bit more but still have Mary as a guiding voice for each of them deep down.”
“I knew the conversation would turn to this,” Tom laughed as he came back.
“I don’t want to keep you for very long, but I’d love to talk to you again before you leave,” Benedict said while shaking (Y/N)’s hand in departure. Tom and (Y/N) said their farewells to Benedict and she followed him toward a picnic table to wait for lunch to begin. They were alone for a total of ten seconds before a figure slid in front of them, a smirk plastered across his face.
“Tom, I’ve got you a little something,” he cooed while sliding a tumbler in front of Tom on the table.
“Is this my juice?” Tom laughed.
“Yeah, and there’s a surprise in it this time,” Anthony stated as Tom took a sip. Immediately, Tom’s lips curled as an unexpected burning caused his tastebuds to tingle.
“Thanks,” Tom replied as he adjusted to the alcohol in his cranberry juice.
“Pratt’s idea,” Anthony said as Chris Pratt slid onto the bench beside Anthony, accompanied by Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, and Sebastian Stan. (Y/N) could hardly contain her excitement as she noticed everyone around her: Chris Evans on her left, Tom on her right, and Anthony, Sebastian, Chris Pratt, and Paul across from her, all awaiting lunch to be served, and for some reason, all excited to meet her: a nobody who was lucky enough to be unlucky when it comes to booking hotel rooms.
“We brought one for your lady friend too, if she drinks that sort of thing,” Chris Pratt said and slid a plastic cup in front of (Y/N). She took a quick sip of the ice juice laced with what tasted like rum and then turned her attention back to the group.
“I’m assuming you know us by how much Tom drones on and on about how amazing we are,” Anthony cooed.
“And we pretty much know you from how often Tom talks about (Y/N) this, (Y/N) that,” Sebastian smiled while teasing her boyfriend.
“Now that you’ve met her can you blame me for talking about her so much?” Tom laughed while gesturing toward (Y/N).
“Is it true you’re a super huge fan of the comics and all?” Pratt asked.
“Uh, yeah.” she said hesitantly and then took another sip of her drink.
“Okay, then who’s your favorite superhero?” Chris Evans asked.
“Marvel or DC?” (Y/N) asked in return.
“Both,” Anthony interjected.
“Well for DC it’s Raven, hands down and for Marvel, well as a kid it was Spider-Man; my dad and I would sit down and watch the Tobey McGuire movies all the time, and but once I really got into the comics, I was a fan of the Winter Soldier storyline, but I’ve gotta go with Domino, she’s pretty bad ass,” (Y/N) responded.
“Raven and Domino?” Pratt asked. “Not Star Lord?”
“Or Falcon?” Anthony chimed in.
“I could see you as Domino,” Sebastian said while looking over (Y/N)’s face and a small smile rose.
“But why those two?” Paul asked.
“They’re smart and can out wit anyone and are talented and strong enough to also overpower anyone as well.”
“What even is Domino’s powers?” Tom asked, turning toward his girlfriend as he continued to learn new things about her preferences.
“So long as she makes an attempt to avoid or prevent something, she’s able to. Say if someone was trying to shoot her, if she moves, or makes an attempt to move out of the way, she won’t be hit, no matter what.”
“She’s also super tactically trained,” Sebastian added in (Y/N)’s favor.
“That too,” (Y/N) said while taking another sip to cool her as the Atlanta heat overcame the air.
“And why Raven?” Tom asked.
“She’s easily the most powerful and most bad ass character in all of the DC universe!” (Y/N) couldn’t control her excitement while talking to superheroes about superheroes. “She’s half demon, has the ability to wield dark magic for good purposes, has basically no weaknesses, and mental powers are always more powerful and stronger than physical abilities.”
“That’s not necessarily true,” Tom tried to argue.
“My point was proven in Civil War. No one could touch Vision besides Wanda--the only Avenger to have a mental ability rather than a physical one. She singlehandedly fucked everyone up in Age of Ultron too,” (Y/N) defended.
“You really know your stuff, huh?” Chris Evans said with a hint of admiration.
“Don’t even get her started on Batman,” Tom murmured as food was slowly being placed in front of everyone.
“What’s wrong with Batman?” Anthony asked, leading Tom to groan and grab (Y/N)’s hand tightly in his.
“Please don’t do this,” he begged her.
“Why, what’s so wrong with Batman?” Anthony pushed as Tom glared at him.
“My best mate, Harrison, couldn’t talk to her for a week after she tore down every argument supporting Batman as being a superhero.”
“That’s because he’s not a superhero,” (Y/N) interrupted.
“Here we go,” Tom grumbled and then laughed. “Do you see what you did Anthony?”
“Wait, I want to hear this!” Sebastian said from across the table and then extended his arms to silence everyone and gave (Y/N) his full attention. “Please, go on,” he smiled and gestured for her to continue talking.
“There’s nothing about him that makes him ‘super.’ He has no ‘super’ human or advanced qualities about him.”
“He knows almost every form of martial arts,” Anthony countered.
“That doesn’t make him a super hero. It makes him a master of martial arts. Batman is nothing more than a person who knows things and has money. There is nothing about him that makes him ‘super.’”
“Then what’s the difference between him and Tony Stark or Clint Barton?” Paul asked.
“Clint know’s he’s a marksman and ex-spy. He may be a hero, but he know’s he’s not a ‘super’ hero. I try to avoid the Tony Stark argument because it goes both ways: you can say the arc reactor is something that makes him ‘super’ because it’s keeping him alive, but then again, it was developed by him: billionaire, genius, playboy, philanthropist; notice ‘superhero’ isn’t on the list.”
“Okay, then what about Black Widow?” Sebastian asked while leaning over the table and facing (Y/N).
“Trick question,” she muttered while mimicking his position. “How else would someone born in 1928 look like their only 29 in the year 2017? She received a similar variation of the Super Soldier Serum used on Steve and Bucky--which also explains how Bucky trained her in the Red Room.”
“Leading to their subsequent relationship,” Sebastian stated.
“Which the movies have been subtly hinting at.”
“Damn, you two are fucking nerds,” Anthony laughed as he and Tom agreed on something while laughing at Sebastian and (Y/N)’s back and forth.
“I told you guys not to get her going,” Tom laughed and then put his hand on (Y/N)’s leg as he looked at her with pride and admiration. The group continued talking as they ate their way through lunch. Conversation fluttered between comics, movies, books, and other things of entertainment, to (Y/N)’s degree in school, her and Tom recounting the story of how they met, and even bringing up the fact that Chris Pratt and Paul Rudd had worked together already, which lead Pratt into the scene where Ben, Andy, Tom, and Jerry were trying to make a negative ad about the Bobby Newport campaign. Sebastian, Anthony, and (Y/N) all joined in with him at Paul’s expense and toward the end of their meal, (Y/N) was more reluctant to leave than she was hesitant to arrive. Anthony forced Tom to promise to bring (Y/N) around more often and even invited the couple out with the rest of the cast that night, saying that bringing (Y/N) with Tom was the only way he would be allowed at the grown up’s table.
Knowing that (Y/N) was more than likely exhausted, Tom took her back to his trailer to rest where she was unable to stop thanking him for the amazing day and repeatedly telling him over and over how he was the best boyfriend and most amazing best friend anyone could ask for, and that she was so fortunate to have met him, let alone grow close to him in the way they have become with one another.

Chapter 1 - Disappearance and Discovery
(Setting - Marinettes bedroom)
“Marinette , I’m going to go away for a little while” Tikki said softly.“ I don’t have much time to explain, but I’m being called to join the other kwamis. Your battle earlier has generated something unusual.”
Marinette began to retrace today’s battle in her head. Tikki wasn’t kidding , it definitely wasn’t everyday that Hawkmoth materialized in front of her and Chat Noir. The fight had been the usual akuma banter. Someone down on their luck was always being taken advantage of in Paris.
Well… at least the fight had been typical until Hawkmoth appeared. Chat had brashly rushed over to Hawkmoth without thinking it through. A formidable force had emerged from Chat Noir’s Baton as it clashed with Hawkmoth’s Staff . She recalled that the strength of it’s light had made tears well up in her eyes. Hawkmoth managed to getaway because Chat could get so excitable at times. She was still kind of upset with him for rushing in like that without thinking it through.
“Tikki…I don’t understand?” Marinette questioned, Tikki continued “ When something as powerful as today’s battle happens , it can cause a kind of shockwave.” Tikki paused for a moment and began to fade a little in Marinette’s palm. “A new kwami is going to be born , and it needs energy. We kwamis all share a universal energy , so we must retreat into our miraculous to conserve energy so the new kwami can be born…” Tikki began to yawn “ You won’t be able to transform, but but your still ladybug…you must remember that…” “ Tikki… How long are you going to be gone? How am I supposed to be ladybug without you.” Marinette mumbled as the little red figure began to dissapear from her palm “Marinette have a little more faith in yourself … you are ladybug… just remember ….” Tikki continued to ramble, but her voice trailed off. Marinette looked at her empty palm in silence. Tikki was gone.
(Setting - Adrien’s Bedroom)
Adrien knew he had really screwed it up this time. He knew he had caused everything to go wrong today. He had charged against Hawkmoth despite his better judgement. “How pitiful of a kitten you are” Hawkmoth’s voice rang in his head. Adrien had gotten so angry and… and now Plagg was gone.
Adrien leaned against the tall window in his room and looked out at the Parisian sky, and let out a sigh. What had happened to him earlier? He couldn’t remember much , maybe Ladybug could fill in the details. “I am sure Ladybug is never going to let me live this one down” he grumbled under his breath.“That is if I ever get to see her again.”
Plagg hadn’t been too good with the details of why he had to retreat into the miraculous, but he thought he understood the gist of it. Though his kwami had neglected to tell him when he might be coming back. How long did creating a kwami take anyway? He didn’t know. Heck Plagg was how many thousands of years old? Did that mean that it could take a really long time?
Thousands of questions rolled around in his mind as he crawled into his bed. He thought about when he would get to see Ladybug again since he couldn’t leave on a whim anymore. He was stuck in his daily routine until Plagg decided to come back. What would he say to her when he did see her, after all this was his fault. Adrien started to swim in his thoughts.
(Setting - A couple of months ago during a night patrol)
Ladybug was perched over the railing. She looked over at her Partner. Chat stepped closer to her, he felt something was off with his Lady tonight. “Chat… Is it just me or have the attacks lately been pretty rough” she asked. After a moment Chat responded. “I mean it’s not anything you and I can’t handle my Lady… Besides aren’t - ” Chat was cutoff by Ladybug. “ I mean what if … If one us gets our miraculous taken or … worse one of us gets hospitalized! what are we supposed to do then Chat?!” Ladybug questioned. Chat leaned closer to her. “I won’t let that happen.” he paused for a moment and looked Ladybug in the eyes “ I swear.” he said softly.
(Setting - Presently in Adrien’s Bedroom)
His thoughts had drifted to that night, even though he had tried to ease her worries, she continued to protest until the both of them had agreed on a back up plan. The plan being that if any kind of emergency were to occur, they needed to be able to find each other. They had traded envelopes with each other, that contained enough information so they could find each other if necessary.
That particular envelope was tucked away in one of his closet drawers. He had been tempted so many times to open it, but he couldn’t bring himself to betray the trust he and Ladybug had as partners… But was this something she would consider an emergency? It’s not like one of them was hurt, and his kwami being gone most likely meant that Hawkmoth’s kwami had also for the moment disappeared … meaning Hawkmoth would also be benched for awhile.
No, if he thought about it she definitely wouldn’t consider this to be an emergency. He was sure about that. He had started to doze off when his phone buzzed on the night stand. He picked up his phone and was immediately bombarded with the light in his eyes. A text popped up and it read
(M)-What the heck were you thinking today! You were so reckless.
He squinted at the light and read the name above the message. Marinette-Dupain Cheng.
(Setting - Half an hour earlier in Marinette’s Bedroom)
Was this an emergency… Marinette pondered. Well, No not really… but the kwamis had dissapeared, and Tikki had said all of them… But wait did that mean Hawkmoth couldn’t fight ethier? She didn’t know, she really hoped Hawkmoth wasn’t able to akumatize the citizens of Paris. That could be a big problem since she was out of commission and couldn’t really cleanse the akumas right now. Tikki was right, she needed to remember she was still Ladybug with or without her suit. She knew this could be her chance to catch Hawkmoth or at least figure out where he was hiding.
She started to mumble to herself in the dark “Maybe I should get in contact with Chat… but I don’t know.” She really wasn’t sure if now was what she would consider an emergency, but maybe with Hawkmoth out of commission, she could try and find him while he was powerless. She was probably going to need that silly cats help. “Oh Tikki what would you do in my situation?” She tried to imagine what her little red kwami might say in this situation, but that only proved to confuse Marinette even more.
Marinette climbed into her bed but was restless, she was Ladybug! She couldn’t just sit there and wait for Tikki to comeback she had to act while her enemy was weak. “That’s it!” She whispered to herself “ I’m opening the envelope.”
Marinette rose from her bed and fumbled her way over to her dresser, turned on a light and pulled the letter from the back of her drawer. She sat down on her bed, took a gulp of air and carefully opened the envelope. In it was a small piece of notebook paper, it read - for my Lady, scrawled below that was a phone number.
She quickly input the number into her phone and saved it as a contact under the name CN. Wait… how late was it? 1:26AM. Would he even be awake at this hour? She soon decided that didn’t matter since he would see it in the morning anyway. She quickly sent the new contact a text. It read,
(M)- What the heck were you thinking today! You were so reckless.
She was still mad at him for earlier, though she had come to realization that the kwamis disappearance wasn’t Chats fault. She had been a bit harsh with him earlier, but something had felt wrong with him today. She decided to crawl into her bed. Marinette had almost fallen asleep only to be woken by a ding. She groaned and went to grab her phone, she had a reply from Chat.
(A)- Why are you texting me so late? Are you okay?
She got irritated with him, of course she wasn’t okay! She fumbled with her phone and replied
(M)- Of course I’m not okay! My kwami disappeared after our battle with Hawkmoth today. What did you think I wouldn’t be mad?
It took a few minutes for Marinette to receive a response from Chat. She assumed it was because she had given him an earful after this afternoons battle.
(A) - I know I was reckless today. I’m sorry I didn’t mean for this to happen My lady. If it makes you feel any better my kwami is also gone.
(M)- I know this wasn’t an emergency but I just felt like we can still make use of our current situation. We also don’t know how long our kwamis are going to be gone.
(A)- It’s alright I thought about opening my envelope as well. What kind of plan did you have.
(M)- I have a plan, but it’s going to be easier to explain in person. We are going to have to meet in person.
Marinette paused for a moment unsure if she had made the right decision.
(M)-Is that alright with you, after all it’s our identities on the line.
(A)- It would be my puurrleasure my lady.
(M)- Okay, it’s late so save the cat puns for tommorow
(A)- goodnight.
(M)- night.
Marinette yawned, plugged in her phone, slid into bed and wondered what she had gotten herself into.
(Setting - Adrien’s Bedroom the next morning)
Tap! tap! tap!, Adrien was awoken to the sound of a knock in his door, he heard Natalie on the other side “Adrien your going to be late for lessons if you don’t get up soon” He shouted back “Okay I’m getting up now” He felt like a mess, he hadn’t slept much, because Ladybug had texted him… Well okay it wasn’t just that. He had discovered last night that Marinette was Ladybug. That had come as such a relief to Adrien because it was someone he knew, and a friend no less.
He could work with this. It was Marinette, the most likable girl in his grade. He loved Ladybug and he had sworn that if he ever figured out who she was, he would tell her how he felt…but for now he wasn’t going to push that on Marinette. After his conversation last night, he got the feeling that Marinette didn’t know he was Chat and he wasn’t exactly on good terms with his lady at the moment. His mind buzzed with thoughts of seeing Marinette at school. He couldn’t stop smiling ear to ear on the drive to school.
(Setting- Dupain-Cheng Bakery)
“Ugghhh” Marinette groaned as she rolled out of her bed. She had stayed up late texting that stupid cat. She was drawn toward the smell of fresh bread baking downstairs “Food” she mumbled. Marinette hadn’t even bothered to get dressed before going downstairs.
She sat down at the table and her mother brought her something to eat. “Marinette?…did you stay up late last night” her mother asked. “No Maman I just had trouble sleepinhmph” Marinette replied with a mouthful of food in her mouth. Wait what had she done last night? When she remembered she had texted Chat, she choked on her drink. She started to cough , and it took a moment for her to calm down. “Are you sure your alright dear?” Her mother questioned. Marinette answered “Yes I promise I’m alright Maman”. Marinette was nervous about everything. What if an akuma shows up? What if Chat doesn’t like me? What if Tikki never comes back? All these questions plagued Marinette throughout the morning. Her mother continued to poke and prod her with more questions until Marinette shoved off to school.
(Setting - At the school)
Marinette had barely managed to scoot into her seat before the bell went off , Adrien had taken notice of this. Her being Ladybug really made sense, from her constant absences to her bluebell eyes. How did he not see all the connections before now. Adrien thought maybe this was because he had always put her on this podium. Well to be fair Ladybug was amazing. He always saw Ladybug as someone he could never reach… even though he was Chat Noir he still felt so apart from Ladybug. Marinette was sitting right in front of Adrien but she still felt so far away from him , but he was more than glad to be next to her, because he felt much closer to her than before.
