This sweet bread is called coca de Reis or coca de confits. It’s a brioche whose main ingredient is butter, and decorated with little colourful sweets made of sugar flavoured with anise.
In Menorca (Balearic Islands), on the night of the Three Wise Men (from 5th to 6th of January), it’s traditional that families leave 4 coques: one for each one of the Three Kings and one for the page boy.
On the morning of Three Wise Men’s Day (6th of January), children eat coca dipping it in hot chocolate for breakfast.
