Hey! I’m looking for some “Not Steve Rogers Friendly” + Irondad fanfics, can u help?
Entertain My Faith (ao3) - clearface T, 3k
Summary: Tony is lifeless on the ground and a certain Steve Rogers has the audacity to ask Spider-Man why he cares so much.
aka, Peter reveals himself and Steve realizes he fucked up. Big time.
…Hello (ao3) - FeelSoHelpless G, 1k
Summary: “Boss.” Friday called out in an almost worried tone. “Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton, Scott Lang, and Wanda Maximoff entered the compound property and will be at the front door in one minute.”
He puts the colour inside my world (ao3) - Written_prose_things G, 16k
Summary:
Tony Stark is wrongly accused by the avengers. Add that to the pile of things he is already running away from. The only silver lining is his unexpected friendship with Peter Parker. Follow the pair as they fix the issues of Tony's past and work to bring about Peter's future.
Hooked On A Feeling (ao3) - sundaywriter M, 15k
Summary: Tony had never expected to have a family while his parents were alive, let alone after they died. The arrival of the Avengers in his life had changed that, and for the first time in his life he felt like he belonged. He felt accepted, he related to others, thought others related to him. The Civil War changed that as well. Tony lost the only true family he had ever had, got stabbed in the back with a smile on his face, guilt lurching in his stomach while the backstabbers yelled blasphemy and blamed him for their actions.
Two years later, Tony was back to his original belief that he would die alone, surrounded by his suits, bots and faithful AI, never to have a family ever again. The Guardians of the Galaxy crashlanding on his property and knocking on his door, begging for help, changed that for the second time in Tony’s life. Only, they brought more than the Avengers, so much more.
The story of how Tony learned to say “You’re welcome” instead of “Thank you” and “I forgive you” instead of “I’m sorry”.
Look At My Son (Pride Is Not The Word I’m Looking For) (ao3) - mouth_breather011 G, 1k
Summary: Peter comes over to the Avengers Compound and is kind of attacked by the Rogue Avengers who were not supposed to be there that day. Tony to the rescue.
The Rogues Are Back (ao3) - Nanerich G, 5k
Summary: The Rogue Avengers have been pardoned and move back into the compound, on a tentative basis. Horribly misjudging the relationship between Tony and Peter, things get a little intense.
Who the hell is this kid? (ao3) - SauleMarron19427 G, 1k
Summary: The Rogue Avengers returned to the Compound after defeating Thanos. They weren’t expecting a teenager to join them. And they didn’t expect him to yell at Steve for what happened in Siberia.
-
“What the…?” Peter almost yelled. “FRIDAY, what are they doing here?” “Who are you?” Steve asked, taking a defensive position. “How did you come here?”
- Tori

Genuine question: Why did ‘Tony has to have the arc reactor put back in’ become such a trope of so many MCU fics dealing with consequences for Siberia? Like, I get having to have an artifical sternum or something if the author is going the route of Steve’s shield having caused significant damage to Tony’s chest, but why specifically the arc reactor? The whole reason it was there originally was to act as an electromagnet and keep the shrapnel from entering Tony’s heart. But the shrapnel is gone by that point, so I don’t get what the benefit would be of putting said electromagnet back? Is it just something which stemmed from when people saw the arc reactor in the Infinity War trailer (before we knew it was surface-level) and then it just stuck around? Or am I missing something?

I think the dynamic of Steve being so fucking stupidly gone on Eddie Munson and Eddie not noticing because he's trying to not think abt Steve like that "because Steve is straight and his friend and he can't go there (he goes there, he crushes so hard but he will deny)" is so underappreciated
Like so many fics paint Steve as this himbo and he is! He is our lovable himbo! But just
Let him look at the rat feral man that Eddie Munson is and be like "i want this man's dick in me ASAP" and being so obvious abt it
Confident in his sexuality and determined to get what he wants Steve Harrington just flirting with Eddie and, sure, being a cringe fail loser abt it, but like HE'S SO OBVIOUS
Everybody knows he wants that dick EXCEPT Eddie
Steve is in misery, in hell, by this point he thinks that either Eddie isn't into him or just is letting him down
And Eddie thinks he is the one in misery because Steve is just always there™ and trying to be his friend and is so hot™ and jOkIngLy flirting with him and he wants to kiss him so bad but "stevie is straight and totally not into him guys :(("
Robin is just laughing at them "this world is so lucky you two can't have biological children together, because let me tell you, these kids would be so dumb"

pleasepleaseplease tag your non-reader friendly posts correctly, I'm tired of thinking one post is an "x reader" but the mc is an oc 🥲🥲🥲🥲
yes we can just imagine ourselves in the oc's place but I'm telling y'all it doesn't hit as hard as reader-insert's 😓
actually this is kinda all applies under the not tagged correctly posts where they get tagged as "male" reader but the content in it is afab 😢 or the non gender-neutral ones getting tagged in a gendered post

steve doesn’t let anyone see when he‘s in pain. his parents never picked up on him being ill unless it was pretty severe, and even then they used to make him feel like a burden because of it. so he just doesn‘t show it nowadays.
when he starts to hang out with eddie more, it‘s not him that picks up on it when steve‘s not feeling good, but wayne. raising a boy all by yourself makes you pick up on those kind of things.
he sees how steve will sometimes squint when it‘s too bright in the room, sees how he flinches when there‘s a sudden loud noise. how he slightly relaxes when eddie absentmindedly runs his fingers through steve‘s hair (wayne doesn‘t like poking around in eddie‘s love life. but the fact that that thought crosses his mind when he‘s watching them says something. if he asked eddie about it he‘d probably say they‘re just very touchy friends).
so he talks to eddie about it when steve‘s not around. tells him that he thinks there’s something going on with steve. what eddie can look out for, and that he should talk to steve about it.
steve‘s first instinct when eddie brings it up to him is to laugh and play it off. he doesn‘t want to burden eddie with his own bullshit that he can deal with himself.
but eddie keeps pushing until steve admits that yeah, he gets headaches really often. that normal painkillers only help a bit, that light hurts his eyes, that they make the ringing in his ear even worse (eddie makes a mental note to bring that one up again later) and that he can barely concentrate whenever they come on. that he finds it hard to concentrate anyways, most of the time.
it‘s probably because of all the times he got hit in the head, he tells eddie.
he says that he doesn't want to be alone when he has the headaches, because that just makes him feel even worse. that's another reason why he never told anyone. (he also tells him about the russians, finally. eddie gives steve a hug afterwards, and steve almost cries into his shoulder. but he holds it back. eddie can hear his breath hitch.)
from that day on they have an agreement that steve has to tell him whenever he doesn‘t feel good. or that he at least won’t hide it. eddie goes over to steve's place when he knows it's one of those days, or he invites steve to his trailer. he turns off the lights when steve needs it to be dark, keeps explaining things to him when he doesn‘t understand them the first time, tries to be as quiet as possible.
he also keeps running his fingers through his hair, but it's more intentional now. he can tell that it helps steve relax, turns it into more of a massage. when steve slips off into sleep, after a while of him protesting that eddie really didn't need to do this, he lets his fingers roam a bit more. over his eyebrows, down the sides of his nose, over his cheekbones. unknowingly taking care of him in a way that no one ever really had before. steve sighs in his sleep.

So I made the mistake of stumbling onto the NOT STEVE ROGERS FRIENDLY tag today and..
Tumblr media
You have to be a special type of delusional to be this obsessed with a character you don't like!??
Over 2k fics have the tag and are almost entirely Tony Stark-centered fics. I'm assuming these are the "fans" who totally buy into the MCU canon and don't know any other Captain America lore outside of what Feige and Whedon have done. Or, they're the "fans" who refuse to understand the politics behind Steve's character and how he was inherently undermined throughout the entire ten years of the MCU by the directors and writers for most of the films.
Because the arguments in most of these fics for being "not Steve rogers friendly" are really surface level shit like:
1) "Steve refused to sign the Accords and broke up the Avengers" (he was right & he didn't break them up, an overemotional Tony did when he refused to listen to Bucky's side of the story).
2) Steve fought Tony and almost killed him (yeah, like Tony didn't blast Bucky's arm off and shoot his repulsor rays directly at Steve).
3)Steve is homophobic (y'all are just making up reasons to hate this man atp)
4)Steve is racist (Steve hated racists & you'd know that if you read the comics, or you guys are just that deluded that you're making Steve racist & trying to project it as canon and therefore a "reasonable" explanation as to why you hate him)
5)Blaming Steve for Rhodey's accident (WHICH WAS TEAM TONY'S FAULT!)
6)YALL, THEY MADE STEVE THE BAD GUY IN A BROCK RUMLOW/BUCKY FIC! I stg I cannot make this shit up💀 Steve's bad for wanting Bucky to be Bucky again, but somehow Brock's the good guy for wanting Bucky to be the Soldier...
Steve left Bucky for Peggy (we'll get to this soon)
There's a hundred more irrational reasons for the Steve Rogers hate, but let me get to the WORST part.
THERE ARE BUCKY STANS WHO ARE ANTI-STEVE ROGERS.
And I'm sorry, no. I don't accept that you love Bucky Barnes but hate the one person he loves the most in the world.
They argued in a couple fics that "Bucky also went rogue after Siberia but he didn't want to associate with Steve, Nat & the rest of the team- WHO HELPED RESCUE BUCKY & EVENTUALLY EXONERATE HIM- but rather, he went off on his own & eventually Tony finds him, they hash it out and become friends to lovers."
Helppp???? Wdym Bucky isn't gonna stick with the one man he's been keeping diaries about to try and get back his memories? But he'll go to the one guy that re-traumatized him by blowing out his arm again?
Not only that, but Bucky absolutely hates Steve in some of these fics and the reason will be, "he left Bucky to go back to Peggy." Like, you cannot be a serious fan if you're still going with the Endgame canon. For a majority of us, we recognize Endgame as being nothing but terrible writing and mischaracterizations. Why are yall not analyzing and interpreting media critically? The MCU has never been on Steve's side and have always diminished his character in an attempt to make Tony the ultimate hero of the OG 6. Don't yall know the discourse? It's embarrassing atp.
And this is my stance on the entire thing: there's nothing wrong with writing fics about characters you don't necessarily like or aren't interested in. It's OKAY if you don't like Steve Rogers- but you've gotta be rational about him, instead of hateful. Most, if not all of these "anti-steve" fics are written in bad faith. Bad understanding of the character and pure, shameless mischaracterizations which just makes these types of fics fickle and weak- hilarious to read though cos that Brock one had me deadddd😭💀.

god i love when fics have steve experiencing insane things but being nonchalant about it bc he thinks it's normal when it absolutely is not. i like to think there have been multiple instances where other guys have been like psychosexually obsessed w steve so when billy starts acting like that steve's just like "ugh again?" like imagine if when he's dating eddie he's just casually like "god isn't it so annoying when other guys get like aggressively obsessed w you and stare at you all the time?" and eddie is sitting there chanting wtf in his head wondering how steve is a real human.
Ya I think it'd be very funny if kinda very strange things happen to Steve and he figures that it's just a normal thing. He'll be sitting around with people like hey y'all ever think about when you and your friends would dig a big hole and pretend to bury someone alive and hold a funeral for them and then they'd go home and tell your parents you died in the woods? When your mom ran into the forest she found you covered in flowers and dirt staring at the sky thinking about how cool it'd be to decompose into the ground she cried and it was probably the first time you saw a grown up cry? And every one is like uhhhhh no. Our friends did not actually fake our death semi successfully and scare our parents??? And he goes oh. Huh. Weird!
my HC is Robin is Steve first similar age friend that has not wanted to fuck him since eighth grade. This is funny because she has also never been normal about him. No one has ever been normal about Steve.
I think it's also very funny that Billy teamed up with Tommy, who you know has never been normal about Steve in his life. Like maybe when Steve was in middle school there was a guy who also was weirdly obsessed with Steve except he and Tommy viciously hated each other. Like straight up brawling and crying about it and Steve is there like what the fuck are you doing??? And Carol beside him just shaking her head going uhg Steve they're being gross let's leave.
But Tommy and Billy...They sniffed each other out or something idk how but they found each other and were obsessed with Steve together in a toxic positive feedback loop. And poor Steve is sitting here like "uhg 😑 Still? Another one? Why does this keep happening?" As though it's a completely regular occurrence. Bro. Buddy. What is your life actually.
Eddie finding out about this history and he's just like. No. Steve. I do not know what it's like to have men stare at me with thinly disguised lust?? But also keeping to himself that he was ALSO obsessed with Steve. He's like oooh my god. I'm not the only one?? The one thing I have in common with Tommy Hagan and Billy Hargrove is our weird obsession with Steve? What kinda world...
Except he's also immensely smug about it because yeah other guys have been obsessed with Steve. It seems to be a Hawkins right of passage for their age group. But Eddie actually got him. He fucking won.

Hi I was wondering if u have any fics that are team Tony, preferably about his reaction to seeing Steve post snap. I want some v bitter team reunions 😅 I’m still v salty
Consequences (ao3) - Ana (Anafandom) G, 74k
Summary: Steve and his team want to save the world. Unfortunately, the world no longer wants them. This time, they will have to face consequences for their actions. That also means facing the people they wronged and their loved ones, including Howard and Maria Stark.
Takes place about a month after One Down. Not compliant with Agents of Shield.
No Second Chances (ao3) - Wix past steve/tony G, 5k
Summary: When the ex-Avengers get pardoned, Tony must navigate their return to the Compound. Unfortunately, that isn't the only thing he has to navigate in this whole affair and naturally the ex-Avengers aren't going to make it easy for him. Not that he really expected anything else.
Tony's Girl (ao3) - Crosshairs pepper/tony M,
Summary: When Tony Stark finally opens his eyes after being rescued from Siberia, he isn't the same man anymore. What happened in that abandoned Hydra base has broken him in ways that even Afghanistan hadn't.
But Tony is famous for his innate ability to fix things, even himself. Slowly, with the help of friends old and new, he learns to deal with his new status quo, picks up the pieces of his destroyed existence and rebuilds it from the ground up.
Until an unusual accident puts a new, interesting spin to his already interesting life.
What Goes Around (ao3) - Wix loki/tony G, 10k
Summary: When the Avengers are reinstated by the Accords Council, they return to find that certain things have changed in their absence and that there are some new changes to the roster that they may not be able to handle.

I get "justified" hate from Tony-antis because it was "wrong" for him to go after Bucky and Steve, even after being confronted to the truth of his parents' murder so brutally, after Steve lied to his face and probably used Tony's resources to go after his mother's (unwilling, brainwashed, I get it) murderer. Tony's rage at this betrayal is reduced to a "tantrum" or just a "stupid man-pain" by so called fans and that he is the villain for going after an innocent man.
Meanwhile Wanda Maximoff and her brother saw Tony's surname on a missile that blew up their home and they immediately joined a Nazi cult for their quest for revenge. Instead of going directly after Tony Stark, or the people who actually blew up their home—Wanda decided to destroy an entire city by unleashing Hulk on them, mind fucked a man so he creates something that nearly destroys the entire planet and thought it was all fine and dandy to be on the side of something that felt no regard to human pain until she realised "oh shit, maybe this evil robot's plan would kill everyone, including me" and the fans dub her a "hero", a "traumatised sad child" who lost so much.
People paint Tony as the bad guy for calling Wanda a weapon of mass destruction in CW forget that this is coming from the man who was shown a vision of all his friends dead near his feet while his worst nightmare comes to play by her. Who knows and has seen what she's capable of. Yet he still keeps her fed, housed and bathed in luxury via his own "blood" money, makes her armor and tries to protect her from Ross' wrath.
Flash forward to Tony dying for the universe after finally getting a life worth living for and people saying "he didn't deserve the elaborate funeral mcu gave him" and then theres Wanda holding an entire town hostage and getting thumped on the back for being so sacrificing and kind by both mcu and her stans

Peter: I discovered the best power move
Tony: Oh yeah? What is it?
Peter: just look someone in the eyes and tell them "I talked to my therapist about you" then never elaborate
Tony: that's pretty good actually
Peter: I know right! You have to wait for the perfect timing though, you don't want it to seem like you want them to know that, you know?
Tony: Oh yeah, I completely agree.
Tony: *3 minutes later* HEY STEVE! GUESS WHAT! I TALKED TO MY THERAPIST ABOUT YOU!
