Okay so related to that reblog I did from @forgedobsidian but

fr an underrated element of the plot of Ragnarok is how everyone--EVEN FATE ITSELF--interprets prophecy using limited information and their own biases, and how knee-jerk responses to that only make the situation worse. It's actually wild on a replay how right but not right literally everyone was and how the parts where they weren't right completely changed the outcome. Had to put this under a cut because I am once again screaming for too long about God of War but think about it!!

Atreus is depicted holding a father with a marred eye in his arms as that father is badly injured and possibly dying, and he seems upset. Everyone assumes it will be his own father (and to be fair, Kratos has been killed like. so many times). It's actually ODIN, the All Father, not technically "dying" but getting soul pokeball'd, and Atreus is upset because his offer of redemption was shut down. Atreus is seen alone at the end of the mural prophecy not because he lost his father, but because he has decided to go his own way in the world.

War god with a spear will lead the armies at Ragnarok. Assumption is it's Tyr, because that's the cultural knowledge everyone has. NO ONE can guess that it'd be Kratos, who leads them into Ragnarok with the spear that Brok makes for him.

Surtr and Sinmara create Ragnarok. This is depicted as a romantic embrace that causes them to meld, leading Atreus to assume that both of them are needed to be there. In the end, their love DOES create Ragnarok, but it's Surtr's sacrificing himself so Sinmara doesn't HAVE to die and the fact that they literally gave each other their hearts that does it, not a crystal gems fusion dance.

And again, people's knee-jerk reactions to the interpretations are at best a misunderstanding, and at worst actually cause the situation to happen, possibly while creating new and exciting problems in the process. Atreus and Kratos nearly have this massive rift in their relationship due to the whole "fate says Kratos is going to die" thing. Atreus trying to find Tyr to fulfill the Tyr-at-Ragnarok prophecy lets Odin right into their hideout, and arguably leads to Kratos being in the situation where he's the war god with a spear (Brok's death being a big part of the push towards them starting a war with Asgard). And Freya's helicopter parenting did cause Baldur to die a needless death (his hatred of her and inability to let that go being a big part of what gets him killed).

It is only in the circumstances where people choose to just calm the hell down and live their own lives, trusting in themselves and others rather than fretting about prophecy, that the outcomes are fairly happy. Faye not telling Kratos about his and Atreus's fates gave them that freedom for a long time. Kratos and Atreus agreeing that they make decisions for themselves mends the rift between them. Freya was right to point out that Kratos didn't have malice in his heart when he killed Baldur because it does kind of change the outcome. It means that even if he's the guy who keeps ending up in situations where he has to kill gods, he's not a monster. Which is the big important thing here in terms of his actions, his character development, everything. If he had let himself become convinced again that he was a monster, who knows where that might've taken them? Nowhere good, that's for sure!!!

It's like there's this distinction in the worldbuilding between prophecy and fate. Prophecy is set in stone, and everything we see prophesized does happen. But there's not really such a thing as fate. Just people who use past outcomes and behaviors to try and interpret prophecy. And if they don't take into account that people can change, or that they might not have all the facts, then they're inevitably going to miss what's really being shown.

characterization of gojo satoru.

gojo in this fic is characterized so fucking well, from chapter one. there are so many distinctive ways miss lostfractures goes about building his aura (word of mouth/reputation, dialogue, expository, primary interactions, secondary interactions, etc.) it reminds me of the show where gojo just has this energy to him that you can't tear yourself away from i picture him in this fic to be unrelenting, unforgiving, morally grey, with an undertone of softness yet still feral through it all,, basically gojo during shibuya arc LOL. i looove reading cute silly boy gojo fics sm (he’s so baby) but THIS fic explores the borderline wicked side of him that is so thrilling, unique, and rare to find i think in this fandom’s collection of works. it’s just so fucking good.

forbidden romance.

UGGHH i love stories w forbidden romance. in this one, it’s med student reader x professor gojo (additional power dynamics in that he’s a senior surgeon in her field and also a research mentor in her study of interest…TRIPLE THREAT DAMN). i love how miss lostfractures doesn’t shy away from reminding the reader that it’s wrong, and that they shouldn’t be doing this. that’s my fave part of forbidden romances like yesss remind me again why this is all so wrong but let’s still do it anyways LOL <333

reader’s voice.

i’ve LOVED reader since the beginning, so relatable, emotionally mature, all her flaws are so believable & her strengths are shown seamlessly. it’s just so much fun to read because i’ll literally have a thought like “hmm…that (something a character said/did) doesn’t sound very convincing” and then the next line will be something like “he didn’t sound very convincing” like!!! me and s&c reader?? we’re locked in like this fr🤞🏼 like gojo’s domain expansion fingers

escapism.

everything in this story feels so damn real it’s insane. the pacing is stunning, love the utilization of stacks of scenes that are sort of short but so concise, enough to be a smooth read but still descriptive enough to entirely transport you into the world that’s being built. cannot praise the writing in this story enough. also the variety of ways that scenarios are made that pull characters closer to one another?? so creative. as someone who works in a research lab, studied bio in college (some of the fkn biochem stuff that comes up in this fic gives me heart attacks lmfaooo pls im traumatized), and has worked in clinics/hospitals it just itches my brain so damn good. you’ll be convinced you’re a brilliant med student while you read this fic.

writing.

the writing is just. so. good. it’s so good. better than most PUBLISHED works i’ve read. i really can't say much other than that, you just have to go see for yourself.

tears pricked your eyes again, and you turned away for a moment to quickly compose yourself.

“hm?” you heard emit from him, causing you to face him again before realization hit, “ah! wait, you’re sad about that? i thought you’d be the one rejoicing the most at the news.”

he chuckled, but you just stood there looking at him without a change in expression.

“why are you even sad?” he asked. “it’ll only be for a couple of months anyway. ah, or are you sad that you only get a break from me for a couple months?”

at his playful remark, you stared at him confused.

“what do you mean? you’re not moving away?” you questioned.

“moving away? where did you get that information from?”

you shrugged.

“i’m going on tour, y/n!” he told you, excitement in his voice, a sound that somehow fed your heart with happiness.

your mouth opened, forming a shape resembling a small circle in realization.

“ah, i see!” you smiled, feigning joy, “right! tour! that’s great, won. ‘kay, see you around!”

at your terrible attempt at brushing off the embarrassing situation, of course jungwon had to prolong the moment and stop you from leaving again.

“where are you going?” he laughed. “i’m not done talking yet.”

you groaned, stopping in your tracks and turning around with a wide, forced grin.

“why were you sad that i was leaving?” he asked, taking a step closer to you.

he brought a hand to your chin, lifting it and forcing your eyes to meet his powerful gaze. but you held up stronger, not daring to let him know how weak he made you feel inside. you could crumble to your knees at the way his unusual yet bold actions had butterflies erupting in your stomach.

his eyes transferred to your lips, causing you to do the same as you watched his next moves and the words leave his mouth.

“do you like me, y/n?”

and all that came to your mind at his words were the next ones that left your lips.

“kiss me and find out.”

you don’t know where the sudden boldness came from, but you weren’t at all complaining as what he did next made it all worthwhile.

all within the next second, he pulled you closer, with his hand moving to your jaw, leaning in, and meeting you in the middle for a kiss you could only imagine in your dreams. but now, this time was real life.

sure, he’d be leaving to tour the world in a few months, but as long as he wasn’t going to be leaving your life permanently, you were willing to work through any challenges you may face in this new relationship of yours. after all, you two managed to break through the whole “enemy barrier” between you both after all these years. you could only imagine what more the future had in store.

I love thinking about the Nimona characters from the movie and comic meeting because in addition to the usual shenanigans of the Ambrosiuses hating each other (it would NOT be one sided, Comic Amb would think Movie Amb was a privileged spoiled brat and would be absolutely boiling with jealousy) there's so much other fun stuff like

-Comic Ambrosius not realizing that their Nimona is a different person since he never knew her well and immediately chucking his crutch at her because "fucking bitch is the reason I even HAVE a crutch" (Nimona would find his rage ceaselessly entertaining)

-Blackheart would love Movie Nimona and vice versa because "it's a version of my Little Buddy that didn't cause my boyfriend permanent disability and also massacre civilians" and "it's a version of my Boss who isn't a total fucking square let's go" (they love their real versions more but they would still get on great and it would be extremely refreshing)

-Blackheart and Movie Ambrosius MIGHT get along depending on if Blackheart is in a forgiving mood.

-The comic boys would be so passive aggressive the whole time like

Blackheart: "Wow babe this one said sorry after only a few weeks for cutting off his boyfriend's arm. How long did it take you again?"

C Ambrosius: "Jesus Christ LET IT GO"

You arrived back home to the hotel later than usual, you weren’t quite sure when you started to refer to this place as your home but it felt right to do so.

As soon as you walked through the doors you were greeted with a glance and a raised eyebrow from Husk, your boyfriend, as he cleaned and polished some glasses behind the bar. Most likely shutting everything down for the night.

You sigh, slumping down on one of the barstools as you waited for him to finish up what he was doing.

“You look like shit.” Husk observed, setting a now clean and sparkling glass down as he moved on to polishing up the next one.

“Yeah, thanks. That makes me feel so much better knowing my boyfriend thinks I look like shit.” You grumbled back, still quite irritated from the day you had. Your boss was constantly on your ass and making unsolicited remarks about basically everything you did or didn’t do, so coming home and having Husker do the same thing wasn’t exactly helping the situation.

He was a little taken back by your tone, usually you weren’t so sarcastic with him. You saw him pause (hehe paws) what he was doing for a few moments before resuming, trying to remain unfazed.

“All I’m saying is it looks like you had a shitty day..” He mumbled

You rolled your eyes in response, not bothering to say anything else because you knew whatever came out of your mouth next probably wouldn’t be so kind.

But, Husk continued...

“It also feels like I haven’t really been able to just hang out with you in a while.” He commented making you look up from the bar countertop and to his gaze that was already on yours with a glare.

“Well maybe if you wanted to see more of me, you wouldn’t be getting drunk everytime I’m finally off work” you said, your tone snippy which drew a frown out of Husk.

“So now this is my fault?” Husk asked, being slightly sarcastic when he spoke

“Are you implying it’s mine?” You asked back incredulously, the sarcasm seemed to have set you off more which in turn, was making Husks temper flare up as well.

“I never said it was, you’re just being snippy.” He called out as he narrowed his eyes at you. Of course you knew you were being snippy, you couldn’t help it and now you’ve dug yourself into a bit of a hole here.. you and Husker were both very stubborn demons..

“Y’know what? fuck you.” You said without thinking, sliding yourself off the barstool to come around the bar. Wanting to face him properly as you two continued on with your petty argument.

You glared up at him and he glared back for a few seconds before suddenly sweeping you up off your feet and placing you down on the bar countertop and before you could even say any word of protest, his lips smashed against yours with his ears pinned back against his head

Your eyes widened in surprised for a few beats before letting them fall shut, kissing him back and essentially taking all of your anger out in said kiss, arms wrapped around his neck with his wrapped around your waist in turn.

It quickly turned into a makeout session, an angry makeout session would be a better word for it.

Your hand found the fur on the top of his head and gently tugged on it as your tongues pressed up against eachother, causing him to grunt in response

You were both panting when he broke the kiss off, you had both tired yourselves out as he leaned down to press a few kisses to your neck, making you whimper in response. Husk smirked at that.

Once he was done peppering kisses to your neck and collarbone he pulled back, hands still resting on your waist as he did so.

You sigh, meeting his gaze and smile meekly, feeling guilty for your previous actions and words. “I’m… sorry for all that. I’ve just been super stressed and busy with work lately and I shouldn’t be pining all the blame on you.” You apologized genuinely.

He nodded “it’s alright.. I’m also sorry. I’ll work on prioritizing you more. I missed you” he apologized as well, returning your smile.

“I missed you too.” You wrapped your arms around him in a hug, he chuckled and hugged you back, squeezing you when you squeezed him. You couldn’t help but notice the fact that he was purring slightly… clearly you were both content with how this little argument of yours had ended.

The haters will try to convince you that Bi-Han wouldn’t give a fuck. That he’d tell you to walk it off or some other mean shit

I encourage you to ignore them

Bi-Han is snippy but y’all let’s be fr, he’s an older brother. He’s the older brother. He’s definitely been forced to take care of his brothers

As the oldest brother he’s always had to do shit for his brothers so this is not his first rodeo

If it’s something small and you’re in the middle of something, like a mission, he’d encourage you to pull through. If you’re not in the middle of something then he’d take care of you

A small illness can become bigger so he makes sure to address it right away

He knows random remedies you’ve never heard of. Jump down, turn around, pop your ass, swallow a lemon and now you’re ok

You’d recover way quicker with him watching over you

And if I said he makes you meals will y’all boo me for making him soft?! Idc.

Once again, he’s the oldest. I’m the youngest so I’ve seen how much weight the older ones gotta carry. He for sure knows how to do things like cook, clean, take care of sick people, ect.

He makes these heavenly soups and just like that, your sore throat is gone

Soups, teas, a nice healing stew, he’s on it

If you have body aches, he makes you do certain stretches

You swear this man knows witchcraft because everything he suggests works

Obviously if you’re heating up he’ll put his hand on you. We knew this was coming.

He’d prefer you to use an ice pack or use a cold rag but let’s be real, you’re not gonna do that when you could just cling onto him

The best doctor the Lin Kuei has ever seen even if he won’t admit it

The strongest of illnesses mean nothing to him. He’s gonna get the job done

Kuai Liang

Also a good nurse

He’d ask Bi-Han for some help when it comes to soups and shit. Kuai Liang can cook but he recognizes that Bi-Han got a magic touch

If you’re in the middle of a mission and feel unwell, he wouldn’t tell you to stop what you’re doing but he has you doing less. He’ll have you behind him and would suggest you to do simple things, like keeping watch

If you’re not on a mission then he’d pay more attention. You expect that Bi-Han would have you wait and Kuai Liang would treat you right away but I think it’s the opposite. Bi-Han being the caregiver knows how annoying it is to take care of someone really sick (which could have been prevented) and Kuai Liang is the younger sibling who would put off mentioning his illness

He’d have you track your symptoms at first to see if it’s something serious or something a quick nap could fix

Lingers around you to make sure you’re ok

Cooks you warm meals if you’re cold but if you’re warm he’ll give you cold liquids

You can’t sneakily miss taking your medication cause he’s on your ass. Probably has an alarm set and everything

If you’re overly warm he won’t be all on you because he’s warm, but if you want physical touch he’ll let you hold his pinkie

Bi-Han gives you remedies even if they taste absolutely vile but I think Kuai Liang would try to give you remedies that don’t taste that bad

Has you laying down a lot so you can recover quicker. If you have no responsibilities to tend to he’s not letting you get up

You’ll have to convince him to let you do things like, oh idk, walking around? I have the flu, I’m not dying

When you start to recover then he lets you move around like normal. He just doesn’t want you exerting yourself and getting worse

Tries to find out if there’s a certain thing you were exposed to that got you sick so it doesn’t happen again

Tomas Vrbada

Similar to Kuai Liang in the sense that if you’re on a mission he’ll want you to do less intense things, like keeping watch

He constantly asks if you’re ok and what your symptoms are

If it was up to him, you’d be sent back home immediately. You’re just gonna get worse and you probably can’t focus

If you have nothing to do then he’s basically right on top of you

I feel like he has random thoughts he doesn’t want to have and he makes himself paranoid. He’s the type to google his symptoms and legit starts to think he has cancer because WebMD said so

He also thinks out loud so he’s the type to say “what if you’re dying?… that actually wasn’t appropriate. I’m sorry”

Nah, you gotta move now Tomas

Because of his paranoia he’s constantly checking up on you

Kuai Liang but worse because you can convince him to let you move like a normal person but that’s not happening with Tomas

Becomes your nurse and your butler because he’s doing everything for you

Cooking? He got it. Making tea? He got it. Making sure you take your meds? He got it. Grabbing a cup of water? He got it. Wanna walk to the bathroom? He got strong arms-

He’s neither hot nor cold so feel free to snuggle next to him

His brothers are soup kind of guys but I think he’s more oatmeal and tea

Also tries to give you better tasting medicine but sometimes you just gotta thug it out

If a mission comes up but you’re still sick, he will not let you attend at all

Constantly drying your blankets so they can be extra warm if you’re cold

Distracts you by talking about random shit

Only convinced you’re not dying when you’re no longer sick

He’s on your ass 24/7 but it’s Tomas so who’s complaining?

"you have got to be kidding me," you hissed at the man in front of you though words falling in vain as he is too busy munching away on his fries. you let out a sigh of frustration before grumbling and taking a bite of your burger.

this isn't your first time mingyu invite you to get a (very) late night dinner but surely, this will be the last time you'll be spending money on someone like him. the man had already let your precious, hardworking $20 down the drain just because he was hungry... like... what the fuck? couldn't he just get it himself? it wasn't like he didn't have a job either, which irritates you further. so here you are, ready to ask him the big question.

"dude, so like... did your job fire you or something?" you started off nice, most definitely like a calm before the storm. you truly believe the universe hated you the moment you receive a shrug. you give him a blank, unimpressed stare.

"use your words, kim mingyu. we're not 9 year olds," the culprit lifts his hand in defense, "hey, i'm just a boy in college. cut me some slack won't ya? also, i just failed my math exam so just take it as you're comforting me." you click you tongue in fake pity.

"you could've asked me to tutor you instead of wasting my money like this, blockhead." you retorted, giving him a light smack on his arm that was an inch away. mingyu shakes his head in disagreement, "that won't work." you clasp you arms together in curiosity. "and what makes you think that?"

before you could get the answer, mingyu takes a sip from his drink. what felt like eternally waiting for him to finish, he finally decides to open his mouth. "i know this might sound like a weird question but," he stops. "go on," you respond.

"how mad would you be if i kissed you?"

you felt like the world had spun around from whatever came out of his mouth, causing you to tumble over your own chair. "come again?" "how mad would you be if kissed you?" you still couldn't process what he just had said.

"again." "how mad would you be if i kissed you?" "again." "how mad would you be if i kissed you?" "one last time," "how mad would you be if i kissed you?"

"very."

you couldn't help but let out a chuckle at his expression that was distorted with confusion. "what do you mean? i thought you liked me, no?"

you gasp out as you placed a hand over your heart. "kim mingyu, you rejected me long ago— during our senior year of high school." he still had his confusion face, "what does that have to do with whatever the fuck i just asked though?"

you reach out to pat his arm again, this time with real pity. "do you think i wouldn't be able to move on from that? you might have embarrassed me in front of our whole grade but i wasn't that head over heels for you, man." lord knows you were, but that was a different story to tell for a different time.

instead of the adorable confused expression, it was replaced with a frown. "i thought you still like me?" "i do." "you don't make sense right now, you know that right?" "yes." "huh?" mingyu straightens his back and asks seriously, "okay then, when did you liked me back then?" you furrow your eyebrows, refreshing your mind back when you both were in high school.

"i liked you back when you were helping out a stray kitten near the school. i thought you were the kindest person i've ever seen, and you know how they were treated right?" he nods in acknowledgement. "i can never forget that. thankfully wonwoo adopted that kitten and lives with him now." he says in reminisce, showing a gentle smile.

"right. well, uh. from then on, i just kept seeing you around and we kind of bonded over time. but then my fucking dumbass felt the need to confess. nonetheless, we're still friends," mingyu hums while nodding his head. "that's true."

"kim mingyu," he looks at you, giving his full attention to what you were about to say next.

"i've loved you since the first time i ever laid my eyes on you. near the school, by the kitten, in front of me. your smile, it made me felt alive. i wanted to protect that smile you had back then,"

and there went your heart, beating away like crazy. now that mingyu, the man you once swooned over, gave that same smile to you. "then," you gulped in nervousness as he still plastered that heart-throbbing smile.

"may you give this smile another chance to be protected by you? may you give this heart of mine another chance to be loved and to love you?" he finally breathes out though yours might have been taken away.

when mingyu noticed that you were unresponsive, he moves from his seat next to yours, gently intertwining your hands.

"yes. yes, i would. in this lifetime to the next, i will always choose to love you,"

for once you seem like you hoped that this late night dinner thing to be the last, you didn't. thank whoever heard your broken heart because now you feel alive, again.

The crowd cheers again.

Someone in the crowd says loudly, "same!"

The crowd, along with Matt, laughs. He straightens up and points, "that person gets it!"

"I mean," he grabs my hand. He looks at me for 3 whole seconds before sighing and saying, "you would make a great mother."

I purse my lips and sighing as well. I lean into him a bit as I softly admit, "and I think you would make a great father."

I pull my hand away from him, moving to grab another card.
