From what I've seen from Missy thus far makes it really hard to not interpret The Master as having a big crush on The Doctor that is closeted due to internalized homophobia and the fact he knows they could never work because of their opposing moralities.
Like, the guy regenerates into a woman and he is suddenly like "oh yeah, now I will act like an overly flirty and clingy girlfriend towards The Doctor".

Yandere Erasermic:
"Hey! I'm home! How are my darlings- Shou? You okay?" Hizashi asked as he entered his home. He was looking forward to spending time with you and the hero, but judging by the pissed off look on Aizawa's face, it didn't seem like happening.
Aizawa was taking deep breaths, his eyebrows furrowed and face contorted into a scowl. God, what did you do now? Hizashi couldn't help but wonder that, as he slid onto the couch next to his husband.
"What did she do now?"Hizashi asked, resting his head on Aizawa's chest as his arms wrapped around him.
Aizawa closed his eyes in annoyance, his own arms engulfing Hizashi as he let out a huff. "She's so ungrateful."
Hizashi lightly chuckled at that, waiting for him to continue. "You know what she did today? She tried to escape. Again. I don't know how she got the code to unlock the main door, but she opened it. She barely made it 2 steps out the door before I pulled her back in. I was taking a shower and she thought she could make a run for it. " Aizawa runs a hand through his hair, but Hizashi suddenly caught it. He looked at his husband's hand, it was turning a nasty shade of purple, and was red around the knuckles, slightly swelled. "Shou, babe... what happened to your hand?"
Aizawa exhales deeply, closing his eyes, trying to control his anger. "Our sweet little darling happened. After I got her back in, I told her to apologise. You know what she did? She spit at me, screamed all kinds of profanities. When I took her down to the basement to chain her up, she tried attacking me." Aizawa clenched his jaw. "I was only going to leave her there for the night. But what she said to me next... Hizashi, I lost it. I punched her." Hizashi's eyes widened. He knew Aizawa wasn't one to lose his temper easily, he knew he wasn't one to resort to violence immediately. So the blonde could only wonder what in the hell did you say to him. "Shouta... what did she say?" He asked softly, almost afraid of the answer himself.
Shouta looked at his husband, trying to calm himself when he told him what you barked out. "She said...she said that she wondered how UA let... let creeps like us around kids." Hizashi's eyes widened. If there's one thing he knew about Aizawa, it was how deeply he cared about his students, treating them like his own children. He prided himself in being their teacher, and so the nerve of you to even say something so disgusting like that, Aizawa was bound to snap.
"I cant believe she'd say something...so horrible. I'm so sorry, Shou." Hizashi whispered, nuzzling Aizawa's neck. The pro hero only grunted. "Whatever. I think it'd be good if she stays down there... for 2 weeks. Yeah that'd be good. And no dinner tonight either. I don't want to put up with anymore of her bullshit." Hizashi only nodded, but then caught another look at his hand and he stood up, pulling Aizawa along with him to the kitchen. Hizashi pulled out a bag of frozen peas and started applying it on his bruise hand to reduce the swelling.
As the two ate dinner, Hizashi couldn't help but worry that if Shouta's hand looked like this from the punch, then what did the receiving end look like. He chose to remain quiet on that matter, not wanting you to ruin the night anymore.
The next morning when Aizawa woke up, he went downstairs to the kitchen to find his husband. Hizashi who was almost done plating up, greeted Aizawa with a kiss. "So, should I take this plate down to our baby bird?" Hizashi asked, already knowing Aizawa didn't want to see you yet. You had really hurt him. Shouta nodded as he took a sip of his coffee. "Be right back." Hizashi pressed a kiss to his lips before going to the basement.
Hizashi opened the door to the basement, walking down the stairs, hoping to see you greet him like the angel they know you are deep down. But when he got down there, he saw you were still asleep on the floor, your limbs still bound to the chains. Your face was turned away from him and Hizashi wasnt sure if he wanted to see the damage that was done to your face.
Hizashi just called for you. “Love, I’ve brought breakfast! Eggs and hashbrowns! Your favourite!” When you didnt respond, he just sighed before placing the plate on the floor. Your chains were long enough to for you to reach it, and while Hizashi wished nothing more than to feed you himself, he knew you needed to be punished.
As he went up the stairs and out of the basement, he couldnt help but feel a sense of dread creeping up on him.
“Do you think she’ll be sorry after her punishment?”Hizashi asked his partner.  Aizawa rolled his eyes. “Unlikely. But she’ll learn to think twice before she says stupid shit like that.” Hizashi chuckled, but secretly hoped that would be the case. He got up from the couch where he and Aizawa sat. “I’ll go get her plate.” They were done eating 2 hours ago, but still waited for you to finish up because they know how stubborn you are.
When Hizashi walked down the stairs, he wasn’t surprised to find your plate untouched. You would always do that the first few days, before finally succumbing to your hunger. Pointless, really. But what disturbed him was how you were still in the same position he had seen you in 2 hours ago. And it was coming to him how still you looked, he couldn't see your body moving a single muscle, he couldn't see if you were breathing.
Hizashi walked towards you cautiously, waiting for you to jump up and scare the crap out of him. But his breath hitched when he finally saw what had happened to you.
A big bruise had formed on your cheek, swelling and taking all the shades of the purple, blue and green. But the worst part was seeing the blood and a clear liquid dripping out of your nose slowly, forming a pool around your head.
He turned you on to your back and started shaking your shoulder. “Darling? Wake up, baby. Its me. Baby, wake up.” But your body remained unconscious. He started tapping your cheek, only then noticing you weren’t breathing. All the alarms went off in his head. “SHOUTA! COME DOWN OVER HERE!”
Shouta rushed to the basement, wondering what stunt you pulled now. But seeing your limp body in Hizashi’s arms, blood coating your cheeks, he knew something terrible had occured. Aizawa ran towards his partners, looking at your bruising cheek. “She’s n-not breathing. She’s not fucking breathing, Shou!” Hizashi sobbed as Aizawa took your wrist in his hand. His blood ran cold when he found no pulse. “What are we gonna do?! She’s dead! Our baby is dead!” Shouta blocked out Hizashi’s voice. They both cant be panicking right now. Aizawa turned to his partner. “Hizashi. Bring her up. I’ll get the car out.” He commanded. “H-hospital? Shou, its too late-” Hizashi cried out but Aizawa gave him a stern look. “Bring her up. Now.”
They got to the hospital in fairly record time, passing you over to the doctors while Aizawa made up a story of how they found you in an alley. Only after the doctors left them alone did it dawn on Aizawa how serious the situation was. He killed you, didnt he? You would still be alive if he hadnt hit you. How could he ever claim to love you when he hurts you-
Aizawa shook his head, he could wallow up in his guilt later. For now, he needed to comfort his husband and pray that you make it through somehow.
A few hours later, the doctors had given them an update on your condition. You made it, barely. Something had hit your face and damaged some part of your brain, causing there to be a very slow heart beat. But you're all okay now, since they brought you in time.
When they were allowed to finally go in, thats when Aizawa finally broke down. Seeing you unconscious, knowing he almost killed you, it got to him. Hizashi wanted to console Aizawa, but he couldn't bring himself to leave your side. Hizashi pressed soft kisses to your temples, wiping his tears that fell on your cheek, while Aizawa stood to your side. He wanted to hold your hand but he was afraid to hurt you again. As the duo sat by your side, they made a silent promise to never hurt you again, at least not physically.
After that incident, you'll never be left alone. The two are always breathing down your neck, drowning you in love, looking at you with even more fondness; obsession and protectiveness swirling in their eyes, right there with guilt.
Aizawa would never apologise, but that doesn't mean he's not sorry. You would often wake up to him looking at your bruised cheek with worry, caressing it so gently, as if he'd break you. He'll be a lot more demanding with physical affection, always wrapping his arms around you, forcing you onto his lap and tucking your face under his chin as he cards his fingers through your hair.
You didn't think Hizashi could be anymore overbearing, but you were proved wrong. He'd panic if you were out of his sight for more than 5 minutes. Always worrying, paranoia creeping up on him when you're not in the same room as him. And when he would finally find you (mostly in the bathroom), he'd check you all over for injuries, not trusting your assurances.
Punishments aren't violent anymore. They're humiliating. Pulling you in their laps and feeding you by hand, talking about you as if you're not there, making you take baths with them(not showers because they end too quickly), making you sleep with them, naked.
And the couple won't lie, but this form of punishment seems to be far more effective. With how quickly you turn docile, folding in on yourself as if you could hide from them... its cute.
But hey, its better than getting beat, right?

MAIN MASTERLIST
-
You woke up feeling great and excited. The mission was finally finished, debriefings were done and reports have been submitted. Everyone was given an entire week to get some rest and since rest days were pretty rare, you truly looked forward to this day.
Before you could even saunter in the kitchen, you had already heard the chatters from your fellow Avengers. One particular voice irked you though but hell no, you weren’t going to let one Bucky Barnes ruin your day.
A chorus of good mornings greeted you as soon as you walked into the kitchen. Nat and Steve were on one side of the counter sipping their coffee while Sam and Wanda were finishing up their food. Tony and Bruce were out of sight, probably holed up in the lab doing experiments as usual. Bucky didn’t acknowledge you and quickly headed out of the kitchen, thankfully. You weren’t in the mood to pick a fight.
Walking up to the cupboards, you quickly grabbed you favorite cereal and proceeded to pour it out on your bowl. None came out though. You peeked inside bag and saw that only crumbs of it were left.
“Who the—“
Everyone was already pointing at Bucky when you turned around to ask. And of course, Bucky did it on purpose because he stood there at the end of the hallway, watching you with smug grin on his face.
“I hope your day sucks.” He said and flipped you the bird before turning around to walk away.
You groaned out loud, ignoring the amused chuckles from everyone else in the kitchen.
“I’m not stooping down to your level, asshole! I hope your day is average!”
The day was fortunately uneventful, except for your ruined breakfast care of Bucky. You were determined not to let that annoy you for the rest of the day. So far, so good. You could only wish it’d continue that way for the rest of the week.
-
“I told you not to rush!” Bucky snapped.
“I had him already! If you didn’t throw that goddamn smoke grenade I would’ve killed him!” You explained.
You could see Sam shaking his head in frustration. Bucky always had to blame something on you even though you weren’t the one at fault.
Bucky snorted, “He had a sniper for fuck’s sake! One shot and you’re dead.”
“Oh wow, says the one who got shot before I did.” You rolled your eyes at Bucky.
The two of you continued to bicker until Nat and Steve walked into the living room looking confused as you and Bucky exchanged insults while Sam remained sandwiched between the both of you on the couch.
“Who got shot?” Steve asked, glancing at you and Bucky alternately.
“Did we miss out on a mission or...?” Nat continued.
Sam chuckled, “We were playing Call of Duty and we lost.” He explained, taking the opportunity to get up from the sofa.
Steve still looked lost, something that Nat immediately picked up. “It’s a video game.” She explained.
“You two are fighting over a game?” He asked you and Bucky.
“They fight over everything.” Nat shrugged and walked out of the room with Sam tagging behind her.
“I’m outta here too, I’m so done babysitting the kids.” He muttered under his breath.
-
It was past midnight when you were in the living room alone, watching television while eating a Whopper. The lights were turned off and it was absolutely quiet in the compound, setting the perfect ambience for the crime documentary you were watching.
Not long after, you heard someone walk into the living room. It was only when your heard the familiar grunt that you realized who it was. Of course, it had to be Bucky.
“Are you eating a burger?” He asked incredulously.
“No, it’s popcorn. Of course it’s a fucking burger, are you blind or just dumb?” You snapped, your eyes still glued on the television.
“Dumbfounded that you’re eating that at this hour. No wonder you suck at cardio.” Bucky said as he sat down on the other end of the sofa.
“Are you body-shaming me?” You gasped.
Bucky snickered, “I didn’t say anything, I just said you suck at cardio.” He said, not looking at you.
You chose to ignore him and brought your attention back to the television. It was quiet for moment. You almost forgot about Bucky’s presence until of course, he decided to annoy you yet again.
“Can you pass the remote?” Bucky asked monotonously.
“No.”
Silence.
“This show sucks.” He commented.
You were focused on the show but noticed that Bucky was staring at you.
“Can you please pass the remote?” He asked again.
“In case you didn’t notice, I’m watching. I was here first. I hold the rights to control the remote.” You deadpanned, refusing to look at him.
There was a flash of black and gold right before your eyes. Everything happened quickly and the next thing you knew, Bucky was hovering above you, trapping you between his body and the arm rest of the sofa.
“The fuck, Barnes?! Get off of me!” You protested and started pushing him away.
“You gotta work on your reflexes, darling.” He said, finally leaning away from you, remote now in his hand.
He grinned triumphantly and switched the channel before placing the remote inside his sweatpants, “Want to switch the channel? Come and get it.” he taunted as he leaned back on the couch, opening his legs wide as he showed off how the remote created a tent in his sweatpants.
That was the remote...right? You mentally slapped yourself for actually thinking about what Bucky was packing beneath those pants and frowned.
“You’re an asshole and a disgusting one.” You told him.
“God, I hate you.” You muttered and crumpled the wrapper of your burger before throwing it at Bucky.
Deciding that you didn’t want to argue any further, you got up and left the living room, but not without telling Bucky again how much you hated him for making your life miserable.
“The feeling is mutual.” You heard him say.
-
The petty fights with Bucky went on and on during that entire week of rest. Despite the arguments, there were small moments of kindness shared between you and the soldier.
“Where are you going dressed up so nicely?” You asked Bucky upon seeing him walk into the kitchen wearing a leather jacket on top of a black shirt, dark, tight-fitting jeans and a pair of Doc Martens.
It was meant as an insult, of course. You took every opportunity to tease Bucky and his newfound sense of fashion. Said fashion meant his taste for very millennial outfits despite his old age.
“Grocery.” He replied as he went over to the fridge to pour himself a glass of water.
“Ooh, can you buy me Starbucks on your way back? I’ll pay.” You asked kindly.
Bucky just stared at you as he drank from his glass of water. He slammed it on the counter before walking past you.
“Not a damn chance.”
He did buy you Starbucks though. It didn’t shock you that much considering that the both of you didn’t hate on each other all the damn time. But what surprised you was that he brought you your usual drink and your favorite pastry too.
Steve must have forced him to do so, probably told his best friend your usual orders as well so you made a note to thank him as soon as they got back.
And thank Steve you did, but you didn’t expect the reply that you got.
“Oh was that the reason why Bucky kept bugging me about stopping by Starbucks?” Steve asked.
You narrowed your eyes at him, “What do you mean? I thought he told you I asked him to buy me Starbucks.”
Steve chuckled, “I guess now I know why he wouldn’t shut up about it.” he said, amusement laced in his tone.
“I don’t understand, Cap.” you said.
Steve just smiled at you in response before squeezing your shoulder, “Maybe you will understand soon.”
And with that, he left you feeling even more confused. You honestly didn’t understand the context of the conversation so you decided to just ignore it. Steve sometimes would say weird shit that none of the Avengers knew about. You dismissed it and thought that maybe it was Steve being a decade old, it was probably an old man thing.
You decided to make coffee for Bucky the following day, as a simple gesture to thank him for the Starbucks. He didn’t ask you to pay him back so you felt obligated to do a little something for him. You were an asshole to him sometimes, yes, but that didn’t mean you weren’t going to give credit where credit is due.
Okay, so maybe you didn’t really hate Bucky. If you did actually hate him, the entire team would probably do something about it. Maybe force the two of you to talk things out. The hatred was all fun and games, everyone seemed to be amused by it too.
You still considered Bucky your friend despite the constant bickering. You had to admit, the arguments were pretty fun.
Although, you were wondering whether Bucky felt the same about considering you as his friend. Sometimes, his attitude towards you confused the hell out of you.
One day he’d eat the chocolate you’ve been saving up for cheat day just to spite you. And it definitely did because you ended up cursing him out loud when you saw him munching on it. The next day he brought you a new one. You were watching Netflix when he waltzed into the living room and threw a bar of chocolate at your lap before walking out without saying a word.
These exchange of small yet kind (and confusing) gestures remained unacknowledged. You didn’t know why but you also didn’t feel the need to talk about them. You weren’t going to lie but Bucky’s random acts of kindness would always put a smile on your face.
-
The vacation unfortunately came to an end and everyone had to go back to saving the world. All of you were gathered in the conference room with Fury for a briefing about the next mission. It wasn’t as big as the last one but it still required a lot of planning.
After explaining the mission, Fury let Steve take over the meeting to strategize.
Some were assigned to do surveillance around the parameter while some were appointed to do all the groundwork. Steve of course, just had to partner you with Bucky to do the actual infiltration given that your skills complemented each other’s.
You grinned and was prepared to roast Bucky’s ass when you turned to him and was met with a scowl. He shook his head with what you assumed was disappointment and turned away from you.
It was the first time he ever dismissed you like that. Sure, you were rude to each other but the look that Bucky gave you wasn’t a teasing one. He wasn’t mocking you nor frustrated. Bucky seemed to really hate the idea of being partnered with you. It was the first time that the two of you had to work together without anyone else. Usually, Steve or Sam joined but for this mission, it was just you and Bucky. Concluding that he must have woken up at the wrong side of the bed, you chose to ignore your gut feeling and focused back to Steve.
After the meeting, everyone else exited the room and started with the preparations for the mission. As you walked down the hallway leading to your bedroom, you heard some soft chattering coming from Steve’s bedroom.
You were supposed to ignore it until you heard your name, making you stop in your tracks.
“I can’t be partnered with her, Steve.”
Bucky.
“Buck, just go with it. I can’t be changing assignments at the last minute.” Steve explained.
Bucky sighed, “You know I can’t function properly when she’s around, let alone be partnered with her. She distracts me, Steve. Her skills distract me and I swear on our friendship, I would end up dying on this assignment.”
“You’re being overly dramatic, Buck. Just suck it up, pal. Do the mission and get it over with.”
“Steve, you don’t understand. I really can’t deal with her. Especially if it’s just the two of us. You know how much I fucking—“
“Hate me?”
You couldn’t help but interject in their conversation. How could you not? Bucky was complaining about how he couldn’t deal with you. It really hurt hearing Bucky say all those things about you. Sure, you were somewhat new to the team and you didn’t have superpowers nor years of training like the rest. But you worked your ass off to be in this position. And for him to say that he couldn’t function with you being around struck a nerve. The last thing on your mind was to hold back your teammates, that’s why you train twice, thrice as hard.
Steve and Bucky stared at you as if they’ve seen a ghost. It’s as if all their blood was drained out of their body when they saw you step inside the room. Bucky was about to say something but you decided to cut him off, not wanting to hear more about how he doesn’t want to be partnered with you.
“We don’t get along that well, I get that. But I honestly thought that our arguments were harmless. Hell, I consider us friends. I didn’t think that you actually hated me.” Your voice quivered because you were truly, deeply hurt.
“That’s not what I meant.” Bucky insisted.
“You literally said that you might end up dying because of being partnered with me, Bucky! Look, I know that I don’t have a super serum running through my veins. I can’t move things with my mind and I can’t come up with life-changing tech. I wasn’t trained since childhood nor have the perfect aim. But I worked hard to be in this team. I trained hard not to be a burden to anyone and I’m sorry if my skills aren’t up to your standards.”
What did you even do to Bucky for him to hate you this much?
“Don’t worry, I won’t burden you. Once this mission is over, I won’t bother you anymore. Ever.” You said before walking out of the way, ignoring Bucky when he had repeatedly called your name.
-
The ride to the location was filled with tension. Although everyone else had no idea what happened, they somehow knew that the tension had something to do with you and Bucky.
Thankfully, the quinjet was big enough for you not to end up sitting beside Bucky.
“You okay?” Wanda asked, noticing how restless you were.
What you heard definitely affected you in more ways than one. You kept on double checking your weapons, your gadgets and you even ended up doubting yourself. Were you really equipped to be an Avenger? Steve said that Bucky was merely overacting but what if he was right? What if you weren’t skilled enough to protect him or your teammates?
“That’s not true.” Wanda said out of the blue. “I didn’t mean to read your mind, though. Your thoughts are coming off too strong, kinda hard to ignore.” She said apologetically.
You softly laughed, “I should really be staying away from you.” You joked.
Wanda smiled and placed her hand on top of yours, “I mean it though. You’re amazing at what you do. I don’t understand why you’re doubting yourself about being an Avenger.”
Swallowing the lump in your throat, you offered Wanda a grateful smile. You noticed that Bucky had been staring at you the entire time but simply ignored him. You weren’t going to let him snap you out of your focus.
-
Once on location, everyone started to split up and listened for Steve’s orders through the comms. You and Bucky managed to get inside the base, all thanks to Nat and the Hulk who handled all the guards.
The building was completely empty when the two of you walked around in search of the hidden quarters where all the intel were kept.
Bucky whistled to get your attention, you turned and saw that he was motioning towards what seemed to be a regular brick wall. However, there were a few bricks out of place and upon examining it, you realized it was some sort of a secret door. You managed to figure out which bricks to push and thankfully, it didn’t take you long enough to open the door which revealed an old, steel elevator.
“We found the entrance, Steve.” Bucky said into the comms.
“Careful in there, there were suspiciously a few guards within the parameters. They all might be in there.” Nat warned.
You heaved out a deep breath before stepping into the elevator with Bucky trailing behind you. There was only one button in the elevator, a red one.
“Can someone scan the elevator and make sure this button won’t set off any boobie trap or something?” You asked nervously as you inspected the elevator for any hidden traps.
The comms cracked with Sam’s voice. “Button is safe although...” he trailed.
“Although what?” Bucky asked, examining the elevator as well.
“You’re in for a long ride.”
You frowned, “How long?” You asked.
“Can’t see. It’s way too deep.”
Sam was able to scan the entire base and true enough, the elevator would lead deep down into the hidden laboratory. How deep into the ground it was, none could tell. Neither Sam nor Tony’s technology could see through due to the lack of signal. Steve said it might be dangerous to proceed given that there were no other ways into the lab except for the elevator.
The lack of signal down there meant no communication.
“Guys, I don’t think it’s a good idea to continue with this mission.” Steve said.
“But we’re so close, Steve.” You said.
“I think Steve is right. It’d be hard to call for back up when things go south.” Bucky interjected, not even sparing you a glance.
You snorted. Bucky sure wasn’t overacting when he was complaining about your skills. He definitely didn’t trust you. You weren’t going to settle for that.
“We won’t need any back up.”
And with that, you pressed the red button and completely ignored everyone’s warnings through the comms. Bucky looked at you with disbelief and tried to press the red button again in hopes of halting the elevator. However, the brick wall had closed and the elevator started its descent.
“Why the fuck did you do that?!” He yelled and tried to search the elevator for some sort of stop button.
“We’ll follow soon!” Steve’s voice was the last you heard before your comms completely lost its signal.
“Christ, we don’t even know whether it’s the lab that’s down there!” Bucky said, continuing his search for anything that would bring the both of you up to the ground floor.
“I’m not as stupid as you think I am. All secret doors lead to a top secret room and no, we won’t be needing any back up because I am totally capable of taking down anyone who gets in the way.” You stubbornly replied and leaned against the wall.
You wondered how long the elevator ride was going to be. At the speed that it’s going, it wasn’t impossible to take at least fifteen to twenty minutes if the lab was really far down into the ground. Bucky’s frustration was evident from the way he kept on inspecting the elevator walls. At first it was easy to ignore but Bucky was becoming more and more desperate to find a way to go back up.
“Your desperation to stay away from me is just...astounding.” You said with a bitter chuckle.
“I’m finding a way to get out of here, not away from you.” Bucky explained calmly.
You shook your head, “You don’t trust me to keep you alive, I get it. But can you tone it down even for just a bit?” You spat at him.
Bucky pressed the bridge of his nose and let out an exasperated sigh, “You don’t need to keep me alive.”
“Of course not, you don’t need me to do so ‘cause you’re so capable. How did I not think of that?” At this point, you couldn’t stop the word vomit.
You had tons of things to say to Bucky to prove to him that you were totally good at what you do, that he didn’t need to underestimate you just because you were a new addition to the team.
“That’s not what I mean.” Bucky explained again.
It was starting to annoy you that the more you were becoming agitated, the calmer he was becoming. And he kept on telling you that he meant differently with his statements but he never really attempted to further explain his side.
“Then what do you mean, Bucky?” You pressed. “What did I ever do to you for you to hate me this much? Did I say something offensive? Do I have to train 24/7 for you to think that I deserve to be working alongside the Avengers?” You kept on babbling on and on and on.
Bucky rubbed his face with his hand, “I don’t hate you, okay?” He doesn’t even spare you a look.
All this time, he was looking at anything but you and it was really getting on your nerves.
“See? You keep on telling me that you don’t hate me but you can’t even look at me! I mean, if you really loathe me then own up to it! It hurts me more that you keep on denying it when you can’t even explain a damn thing. At least tell me why!” You were never an emotional person and Bucky knew that, so when he finally turned to look at you, he was surprised to see you on the verge of tears.
“Hey, hey...” Bucky coaxed and tried to hold you but you stepped away from him.
“Just please tell me why, Buck. Tell me and I promise to stay away. If you think I suck at being an Avenger to the point of irritating you, tell me so I can train my fucking ass off until you deem me fit to be an Avenger. If my jokes offended you, I’m sorry. If I—“
“It’s because I like you.”
“...what?”
Bucky Barnes...likes you? It’s as if the silence went on forever inside the elevator that seemed to keep going. How long were the two of you inside it anyway? You couldn’t tell anymore and you didn’t know whether Bucky was simply fooling around with you.
“That’s not funny.” You said.
Bucky shook his head, “It’s not a joke.”
You stared at him doubtfully, “Explain.” You demanded.
Bucky licked his lips and let out a soft chuckle, “I’m an idiot.” He said.
“That doesn’t explain anything. If any, I’d think you’re simply fucking with me.” You pointed out and crossed your arms over your chest.
That seemed to urge Bucky to finally explain. “What you heard in Steve’s room was correct.”
“So you really hate me.”
Bucky groaned, “Let me finish, please?” He pleaded. When you remained silent, he continued to explain himself.
“You really do distract me during missions. Because you’re so amazing and I never doubted your skills. But I also get worried and I hate it when I see you in pain or wounded and it fucking distracts me. I didn’t want to be partnered with you because when I see you, I just...fuck. I like you that much. You kick someone’s ass and I’d end up watching you with awe that it’d cause me my own demise. That’s what I meant. That I’d probably end up dying because whenever you’re around, you have my full attention.”
The anger within you dissipated just like that. You could feel your face heat up from Bucky’s unexpected confession.
“But you’re an asshole to me.” You pointed out.
Bucky laughed, “Because that’s how I get your attention. You walk into a room with a kind-hearted super soldier, a witty bird brain and a few more intelligent men and yet I’d be the first one you’d acknowledge. With a snarky comment but still, attention is attention. It’s the only way I get to interact with you without feeling awkward. I suck at conversations, I mean, you heard me and though I was hating on you when I was merely blabbering to Steve about how much I like you.”
This time, you couldn’t hold back your laughter. All along, Bucky was finding a way to talk to you even though it meant constant arguments over the pettiest things. To be fair though, he really did suck at communicating.
“I’m sorry that it came across like that.” Bucky apologized sincerely. “I hope this doesn’t change anything between us.” He admitted.
You shrugged, “Oh but it does. In fact, it changes everything.”
Bucky’s face fell.
“Because I think I like you too and I kinda want for things to change. For the better of course.” You grinned.
Bucky chuckled and scratched his forehead bashfully, “You think, huh? Not sure?” He asked and turned to you just as the elevator doors opened.
Indeed, it led to the lab where almost all of the targets stayed. The man nearest the elevator had his gun pointed at Bucky but before he could even pull the trigger, Bucky had thrown his knife at him without even sparing a glance and choked the next guy to attack with his metal arm before throwing him towards a group of armed men. He was just gazing at you with a smittened smile.
“Still not sure about liking me back?”
Impressed at his gesture, you smirked.
“Now I am.”
-
By the time Steve, Nat and Sam walked out of the elevator, the mission had already been done. You walked towards the trio and handed Steve a USB.
“All their data is already saved there. Wiped out their entire system clean too.” You told him, voice chirpy and all.
Bucky was right behind you, a couple of folders in his hands before handing them to Sam, “Lotsa confidential info in there too which includes our next targets.” he said and walked past Sam with a certain jump in his steps.
The three exchanged glances before looking around the entire lab. Men were scattered on the floor, most were dead and others heavily injured.
“What the hell happened here?” Nat asked, avoiding the injured men on the ground as she walked around.
“The mission happened, Nat. All that matters now is that everything has been resolved. I mean, everything.” You said meaningfully and threw Bucky a flirty smile before walking into the elevator.
He followed suit and saluted at the three before pushing the red button. The doors weren’t even closed yet when Bucky couldn’t hold back and quickly leaned to press a soft kiss on your lips. An action that definitely didn’t go unnoticed by the three. You couldn’t help but chuckle when you noticed their reactions before the elevator closed.
Said trio stood there dumbfounded and confused as hell. Early on, the tension between you and Bucky was felt by everyone. The kind of tension then wasn’t even a sexual one. It was so intense that Nat was actually expecting to see you and Bucky at each other’s throats when they got down to the lab.
“Guess that the long ass elevator ride did something. Whatever was in that elevator seems interesting. Wanna go check it out, Nat?” Sam asked suggestively.
Steve chuckled and shook his head.
Nat simply smirked and walked past Sam, “In your dreams, Wilson.”

I hate your big dumb combat boots and the way you read my mind
Tumblr media
We’re going to ignore all typos until I have time to fix them, and also ignore the fact that it’s four am and I have a 9 am class, but this was clearly more important.
Shout out to the anon who sent in the idea for the little blurb that I did that I ended up putting in here!
Prepare for the part all of y’all have been wanting! There’s some smut in this, so be warned that it’s not great leave me be. I still hope you like it!
Read the whole series:  I hate the way you talk to me and the way you cut your hair // I hate the way you drive my car // I hate it when you stare // I hate your big dumb combat boots and the way you read my mind // I hate you so much it makes me sick, it even makes me rhyme // I hate the way you’re always right // I hate it when you lie // I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry // I hate it when you’re not around, and the fact that you didn’t call // But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you, not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all

“It doesn’t matter if other people think it’s true or not. What matters is that we know it’s true. I love you.”
“Fuck you.”
--------------------
“So, is there a reason it looks like a vacuum attacked Matthew’s neck in his latest Insta post? Did those appear last weekend when I was gone?” Evelina comes barging into your room, phone in hand. “Damn, you actually picked that outfit out?”
You look at yourself in the mirror, your hair and makeup finished, the dress you had on for the charity event that Matthew was supposed to pick you up for any minute now. The black, off the shoulder high-low dress fit you perfectly, accenting every feature of your body in just the right way. But still, you weren’t quite sure if it was right. “It looks ok?” you ask her, going to your closet to find a pair of shoes to wear.
“If you didn’t fuck each other after destroying each others necks while I was gone, you’re going to tonight.” Wiping around, you can’t help but glare at her. You did not love Matthew. But then, why did you have to keep reminding yourself about that. “Hey, I have until you finish the list to keep this up, let me live.”
You were about to fire something back at her when you hear Matthew’s voice call from the living room. “We’re in Y/N’s room!” Evelina answers for you.
“You really abuse that key,” you say, not taking your eyes away from your closet as you try to find shoes to wear. You weren’t ready to look at him just yet. “Ev, help me find the right shoes!”
She gets up as you hear Matthew sitting on your bed, the creak of the frame sending a shiver down your spine. “What about these?” she asks, holding up a pair of heels.
You scrunch up your face, telling her to find another option. “How does he look?” you whisper, just loud enough for her to hear.
She smiles at you, handing you another pair of shoes, “I think you need to look for yourself.”
You put on the shoes, refusing to turn around until the last minute. You almost didn’t want to see what he looked like, but you turn to him anyway. The second you look at each other, you both stop breathing. He gets up from your bed, slowly, making his way to you while Evelina was watching off to the side. He looked perfect. The suit was fitting him just the right way, the tie in your favorite color to match the necklace you were wearing, his hair in a flawless mess, the curls going everywhere yet looking pristine at the same time.
He couldn’t find the words to say to you, taking your hands in his as he scanned your entire body. “W-wow,” he stammers out, swallowing hard as he tries to make any sound. “You look,” he starts, not knowing what word could accurately describe how incredible he found you, “Wow.”
You look down at your hands, intertwining your fingers in his. Everything about holding his hands just felt right. You look up at him, his blue eyes sparkling even in the shitty lighting of your bedroom. “Wow yourself,” you tell him, unable to fight the smile on your face, or control your breathing for that matter.
You stood there standing for what felt like forever, until you were interrupted by Evelina clearing her throat, a smirk on her face. “Don’t you two need to get going?”
“Uh, yeah,” you say, breaking away, embarrassed that she just saw that. If she thought you loved him before, that would confirm it now. But you didn’t love him. You didn’t even like him. You had a list of things you hated about him, even if there were only four things on it.
“Are you going to be alright in those shoes tonight?” he asks, looking down at the heels Evelina had picked out for you.
“It’s not like Ev here would let me wear these,” you say, holding up your black, beat up combat boots. You hear her fake gag behind you, throwing them in her direction and purposefully missing so that you don’t break anything of yours.
“Those would ruin the look,” Matthew says, both of you looking shocked that words like that would even come out of him. “Actually, Ev,” he says, changing the subject and finally tearing his eyes away from you, “Elias wanted me to ask you something, privately?” he lies.
You and Evelina exchange glances before you leave your room. Elias has Evelina’s number, why didn’t he just ask her?
“What’s up?” she asks, sitting down on your bed, Matthew sitting next to her. He lets out a low groan, putting his face in his hands. “Y/N looks flawless,” he says, pain in his voice.
“So what are you going to do about it?” she asks, pulling him up. “You both love each other. I know you know that. This whole list thing is ridiculous. She looks great, you look great, act,” she instructs him.
“I have tired. I can’t even kiss her on the lips without some sort of interruption. I can’t control that!” he whines, trying not to get too loud incase you were within ear shot. He’s wanted to do more than just kiss you this entire time. He’s flat out told you that and you somehow still missed the message. “How is it she’s so smart, yet so oblivious?”
Evelina shrugs, pulling him up off the bed, “People who are book smart never have common sense, bub. I’ve been telling her she loves you since you two met. She doesn’t even listen to me.”
“This is hopeless,” he says, practically throwing himself back on your bed.
“Nope, get up,” Evelina says, pulling him back up. Matthew nearly stumbles over and onto the floor, not expecting her to be as strong as she was. “Look, she only has four things on the list,” she explains, “I told you the first night, if she really hated you, she would have more than that. You still have two and a half weeks.”
He looks at her, biting his lip and nodding as the two of them go out to find you waiting on the couch. “Ready to go?” he asks, putting his hand out for you.
You get up, Evelina’s eyes going wide and her mouth falling open. “Wait, you left something in my room, Y/N,” she says, dragging you there. She closes the door behind you, “You’re not wearing underwear!” she tries hard not to scream.
“It would show under the dress!” you try to protest, heat rushing to your cheeks.
“I have worn a dress much tighter than that and you couldn’t see mine,” she provokes you, her eyes gleaming, knowing that she was right.
“I have to go,” you sing to her, trying to get past her.
“Admit it!” she yells as you run towards Matthew, taking him by the hand and dragging him out the door.
“Bye, love you!” “I hate you!”
You practically run Matthew to his car, praying that Evelina wasn’t following the two of you. “Do you want to talk about what that was just then?”
“I borrowed one of her shirts and haven’t given it back because I got a stain on it and haven’t done laundry yet,” you spit out the lie. There was no way you would tell Matthew that you weren’t wearing anything underneath the dress. Not yet. “So, uh,” you start to change the subject, “What is this event again?”
“Something with the organization and the season ticket holders? It’s fancy and I was told to wear game day clothes, so, here we are.”
You look at him for a moment, your eyes tracing his jawline like when you went to the liquor store. “You clean up really nicely, Rat Man,” you say, “You look really good.”
He smiles with the left side of his face so you can’t see it. “You don’t look too bad yourself,” he tells you, wishing he could figure out the proper words to say what he really thought. “Excited for tonight?”
“Yeah, it’ll be nice to see the guys not drunk at a bar.”
“Right because seeing them drunk in a ballroom is better.” You both laugh, leaving the two of you in a comfortable silence as your phone buzzes with texts from Evelina.
‘This means you love him!’
‘No it does not. Who says I have to wear underwear under a dress?’
‘You never go without underwear. Admit you love him.’
‘I don’t love him.’
‘Do you like him?’
You take a minute to think, looking up from your phone to see Matthew watching the road. Like and love are two different things. You liked Elias, but did you like him in the same way you liked Matthew? Did you like anyone in the way you liked Matthew? ‘Sure.’ You roll your eyes as you hit send when Matthew finally puts the car in park. You didn’t even realize you were at the venue. Matthew gets out of the car, practically running to the passenger side to open the door and help you out. With your arm linked with his, you head inside, “Who would have thought you could be such a gentleman?” you tease.
“Only for you, babe,” he says, sending a wink your way before dropping your arm to greet some of his teammates. “I’m going to get us some drinks?” he says, leaving you before asking you what you wanted.
You wander around, finding Elias and making conversation with him while you wait for Matthew to come back. You had wanted a vodka sour, but would he come back with that?
“You look amazing, Y/N,” Elias starts, a smile on his face not unlike the one Matthew normally gives you.
You feel yourself blushing at his comments, unable to hide the heat that was showing in your cheeks, “You look pretty great, too.”
“Maybe at some point tonight, you’ll save a dance for me?” he asks, moving closer to you. This was the teammate that you’ve had a slight crush on since you met Matthew, so why didn’t you feel the same way with him as you did with Matthew? His hand reaches for your waist, but you move away from him, giving him an innocent smile before turning to see Matthew standing behind you with a drink in each hand.
He tried to hide the pain he felt watching Elias flirt with you. He knew you liked his teammate, and it was clear that Elias was seeing something in you that he hadn’t seen before. But you smile at Matthew, one very different from the one you had given his teammate. A real, genuine smile that reached your eyes. Matthew knew you felt the same way about him as he did about you from that, he just didn’t know if you knew. “Vodka sour for my girl,” he says, handing you the drink you had wanted.
You feel your knees buckle ever so slightly at the sound of hearing Matthew call him your girl, taking your free hand in his, intertwining your fingers. You immediately felt a warmth rushing through you as he gave you a soft smile, taking a sip of drink before starting a conversation with Elias. You start to look around at everyone surrounding you. The dance floor was crowded, you itching to get out there with Matthew. You both finish your drinks, probably too fast, but who cared? “Hey, can we go dance?” you ask Matthew before turning to Elias, “I don’t think you’ll be able to pry my from my guy tonight, Lindy, but if he lets you, I guess you can try.”
You drag him out to the dancefloor, your hands never losing connection as he looks back and smirks at Elias. The look on his face tells Matthew that this was intentional, whatever plan he had concocted working as a slow song came on. Matthew used his free hand to pull you in by the waist, your other hand on his shoulder as you swayed to the rhythm of the music.
Your mind starts running free as you think about dance, Matthew chuckling before letting out, “You know something about the history of dance, don’t you?”
“How would you know I know that?” you ask him, shocked that he read your mind for a second time tonight.
He shrugs, spinning you away from him before bringing you close, his front pressed against you back as he whispered, “It just sounds like something you would know.” He spins you back around so you’re facing each other, him beaming down at you. “Go ahead,” he teases you.
“It’s specific towards Canada, is that ok with you?”
He leans down, his curls tickling your face, “Anything you say to me is fine.”
“The first written record of dance in Canada,” you start, “was by Jacques Cartier in the 1530s. He described a group of Indigenous people dancing in modern day Quebec, but it’s obviously likely that this was going on way before he encountered them.” Matthew pulls you in closer, still moving with the music as you rest your head on his shoulder. He plants a soft, long kiss on your head as you continue. “Because of the idea 'assimilate or exterminate,’ where these Indigenous people had to either change their culture to fit that of the European settlers, or risk their culture being destroyed in its entirety, their practices of dance declined until the late 1990s when groups began investing more time into preserving these sacred dances as part of Aboriginal and Canadian culture.”
You lift your head off his shoulder as he starts kissing your neck, everyone around you disappearing as you felt his lips connect with your bare skin. “Europeans settlers brought their own forms of dance to the country, eventually infusing together to create new forms. Famous dancers like Martha Graham, Anna Pavlova and Ruth St. Denis started touring the United States and Canada, leaving their own imprint on the culture.”
He lifts his head, his forehead against yours. You could feel him grow hard the more you talked, his dick pressed against you as you stifled a moan. “Modern dance got its start in Canada nearly a decade before ballet,” you say, Matthew kissing your forehead before connecting his back to yours, “In the 1940s, Montreal became the central hub for modern dance, and stayed that way for a while. Ballet came about in a professional manner, companies developing their own identities before performing and going onto the world stage.”
The song changes and you stop moving. Staring at each other, you finish, “All of it comes together into the dance we know today.”
“Y/N,” Matthew starts, obviously staring at your lips. He wanted to kiss you. He didn’t care that his entire team was around him; he didn’t notice anyone there but you.
You don’t know what to say to him. You take your hands off his shoulders, cupping his face. His grip tightens around your waist, a confused look of his face.
‘Fuck it,’ you think to yourself, just like you did the other day. Your lips connect with his, everything around you melting away as you moved in sync with each other. His tongue swipes your bottom lip, begging to enter your mouth, you gladly letting him. You can feel him smiling as his hands move up your back, your hands falling down to his chest. You pull away, both of you breathing slightly unevenly. Why did you just do that? You weren’t upset that you did, but why did you just do that?
“Wow,” he whispers to you, kissing you softly again.
“Wow is right,” you let out.
“Hey, uh, Matty?” you hear Elias’ voice behind you. You pull away from each other, both of you slightly embarrassed that he, along with everyone else, probably just saw that. “We’re trying to do a team photo,” he says, looking like he was trying to stifle a laugh or something.
Matthew swallows, nodding and dropping his hands from your body. “I’ll find you later,” he reassures you before leaving.
You try to catch your breath as you run to find your phone. ‘SOS’ you text Evelina, praying that she was looking at her phone and not already asleep.
‘What?’
Your fingers hover over the screen of your phone. Do you tell her what just happened? You tell her everything, so why would you leave this out?
‘I have another thing to add to the list’
‘This list needs to be electronic so I don’t have to get out of bed every time you think of something new’
‘Do you want to know or not’
‘Duh’
‘The way he reads my mind’
‘That’s dumb, but fine. Are you at least having fun?’
‘Yeah.’ You put your phone away before you can say anything else to her. If she found out you kissed each other - no, if she found out you kiss him, she would have a field day. You would never hear the end of it, list or not. All you had to do was rejoin the event and hope you could find Matthew.
Staying off the side, watching the event unfold, you couldn’t find him anywhere. There was something fun about seeing all the guys and their wives and girlfriends dressed up like they were, whatever photo they were doing clearly taken. The season ticket holders and management looked good, even though you had no idea who any of them were.
“Hey,” you hear a man’s voice say to you, taking you out of the trance as you fixated on Johnny and Meridith, admiring the way they looked at each other while they were dancing. If they were back out on the dance floor, Matthew had to be following suit soon, right? “I’m Reggie.” He sticks out his hand, you smiling at him to shake it as you introduce yourself. “So, are you here with someone, or are you a ticket holder?”
“I’m here with one of the guys,” you say, trying to see if you can find him anywhere. Something about this guy wasn’t quite right, and you really prayed for an out from talking with him.
“Really? Which one?”
“Me,” you hear Matthew’s voice say, his arms wrapping around you as you feel your shoulders relax. “Thanks for keeping my girl company.” Reggie just nods and smiles, walking away and leaving the two of you in the position you were in. Matthew holds you tighter, your hands reaching up to touch his. “You are the most beautiful girl here,” he whispers.
“You’re just saying that,” you tell him, feeling his breath on your neck as he lets out a sigh. “What if I said you were the most handsome guy here?”
He freezes, swallowing hard and thankful that he was behind you so you couldn’t see the grin covering his face. Calling you his girl was something he said just to get the guy away, but after that comment, after that kiss, there was nothing more he wanted than to call you that and mean it. “What if we get out of here?” he whispers, kissing you between your shoulder blades.
A chill runs down your shine as he kisses along your back, moving your hair to your shoulder as you can’t help but let out a low moan, “Matthew.”
He moves his way up your neck, ending at your ear, “Come on. Do you want to go somewhere more private?” he whispers before his teeth connect with your earlobe. You didn’t expect that to do what it did to you.
When he pulls away, you turn to him, mirroring the smile on his face. “Where did you have in mind?”
“Is it too early to leave?” you ask him, running your hands down his chest.
“I’m ready if you are, babe,” he says, kissing you softly on your lips yet again. God, he hoped this was the start of something. Knowing what this was like, he could only imagine what more would be.
He takes your hand, leading you back out to his car. You look back over your shoulder before leaving the building, out of sheer curiosity as to whether or not anyone saw you. You make eye contact with Elias, who winks, raising his glass in the air to you as the two of you disappear through the door. “Your place or mine?” he asks as the two of you practically sprinted to his car. Given what you were both sure was about to happen, he answers his own question, “Mine, got it.”
You couldn’t concentrate the entire way to his place, thinking about what this was going to be like. You both wanted it and didn’t. You didn’t love him. You couldn’t love him. Evelina was in no way right about you being in love with each other. You just were both horny, right? That’s all it was?
Matthews hands don’t leave your body once you get out of the car. Whatever cameras were around the lobby of his building, the elevator, the hallway leading to his door caught everything. He was kissing you passionately, as if doing this was something that he had been waiting for. His hands gripped your butt, so tight that you had to hold back a scream of pleasure as he sucked away at your neck, something he seemed to like doing more than you expected.
You were surprised your clothes were even still on by the time you get to his door. You could only imagine how red and bruised your neck was, the handprints that had to be left on your ass from him, your mind going blank as you were sure you would regret anything.
You practically rip off his suit jacket, both of you impatient to get everything off each other. “Are you sure you’re ok with this?” he stops, his hands on the zipper of your dress as you bounced up and down, dripping with anticipation.
“All you have to do is take off the dress,” you tell him, his eyes going wide.
He swallows hard, “N-nothing underneath?” he asks you. That would mean that you were expecting something to happen tonight, right? Or did it mean nothing? He really hoped it meant the first thing.
“Yes, take it off, come on,” you whine.
He does as you ask, his lips connecting with yours, simultaneously taking off your dress and leaving it in the hallway while you unbutton his shirt and leave it there with it. You were down to nothing as he threw you on the bed, him rushing to take his pants off to climb on top of you. You spread your legs for him as he climbs on top off you, kissing you from your hip bone up to your mouth. “You’re really sure?” he asks you, in a quiet voice.
You nod, taking his face in your hands, “I’m sure,” you say before he kisses you again. You give him all the access he wants, the tip of his dick rubbing against your already wet opening, teasing you as you whined for him, “Fuck me, Matty.”
“I will, baby,” he says, pushing his hips against yours as he enters inside you.
You spend the night, both of you kissing, whining, moaning, begging for each other, everything you had ever imagined with any other guy, you were doing with Matthew. You didn’t want it to be anyone else.
You were so busy, so hungry for everything Matthew had to offer, you didn’t know your phone was buzzing, texts from Evelina flooding your phone.
‘Where are you????’
‘You were supposed to be home by now.’
‘Why isn’t your phone location updating? Elias said you guys left hours ago.’
‘Please tell me you’re ok.’

through the years & tears || tendou satori (x fem!reader)
Tumblr media
word count: 2.8k-a oneshot, his bday special <3
warnings: fluff, angst in the middle, & sexual themes mentioned :)
-you were five when you came across the park.
“excuse me?” you called, “hi, hi! do you want to play tag?”
tendou shook his head, “im waiting for my friends, it’s my birthday!” the boy beamed, “im tendou, what’s your name?” he stuck out his hand.
you smiled, shaking his, “(first and last name)! but you can call me (first name),” you grinned, “and happy birthday! can i join your party?”
“sorry, invite only,” tendou watched your face fall. you shrugged, reassuring him it was fine and went to go play in the swings.
two hours passed, your mother insisting you to head home but you told her a couple more minutes everytime. you sat at the swings, watching tendou sit patiently at the picnic table. his own mother looked nervous, wringing her hands.
“mom?” tendou didn’t look at the older woman, “no one’s coming, are they? because everyone thinks im a monster?” he felt his party hat sag.
you struck, rushing towards the table, tendou saw you and smiled. your palms pressed against the table as you leaned forward, faces inches apart, “i don’t think youre a monster!” you exclaimed, “i think you’re cute!”
-you were seven when he asked for a promise
“tendou!” you exclaimed, jumping on the swings next to him, “happy birthday!” a soft smile spread across his face as you handed him a neatly wrapped box.
“you didn’t have to get me anything, (name)!” tendou tore the paper apart, a wide grin crept up his face. a jersey, a number five printed on it, “five’s your favorite number!”
“so im there with you on the court!” you wrapped your arms around his neck.
“(name),” tendou wrapped his arms around your waist, “can i ask you for another gift?” he watched you nod, “will you let me marry you when we’re older? i don’t want to love anyone else but you!” tendou exclaimed.
“of course!” you felt him pull away so you did, too.
tendou put out his pinky, “promise?”
you wrapped your pinky around his, “i pinky promise!”
marriage was an odd concept at that age, you both simply saw innocent infatuation that the two of you wanted to last forever. there was no sense of real consequences, just adoration.
-you were thirteen when you had your first sleepover
“ready, satori?” you watched the timer in your hand countdown slowly.
ten
nine
eight
seven
“tendou?” he looked up at you, you broke the gaze from the timer.
“yeah, what’s up?”
three
two
you took his face in your hands, pressing a quick peck against his lips as the timer sounded; it was midnight, officially tendou’s birthday. tendou pulled back, dazed, “cool! do it again!” he cheered. you giggled, pressing another soft kiss against his lips, “we really are going to get married, you know that, (name)?” tendou held your hand after the small kiss, “and we’ll have the biggest wedding! I'll show everyone you’re my wife! it’ll be great!”
“we should go back to my house before my mom notices we’re gone,” you giggled.
tendou smiled, hopping off of the swings and holding out his hand for you to grab.
-you were fifteen when you broke the news
“hey, satori,” you smiled, “happy birthday.” you sat next to him, your feet used to hang off the swings but now they sat flat on the ground.
you watched his eyes falter, “what’s wrong, babe?” pet names became common between the two of you around fourteen, a sign of comfort that you two trusted each other.
“go ahead and open your gift,” you watched him eye you down.
“aww, (name), are these promise rings?” tendou pulled the two rings out, one on a chain.
“you don’t like rings, so i made it a necklace,” you smiled softly, “satori… i didn’t get accepted into shiratorizawa.”
tendou’s face fell, “what? we’ve always been in the same class since elementary school–(name), do you want me to talk to someone?” he reached over and grabbed your hand, “we… we’ve always been together.”
“i got into karasuno,” you felt tendou tug at the sleeve of your hoodie, meaning to move closer.
“i told you to study,” tendou felt you settle in his lap. he rested his chin on your shoulder, “…will you come and visit me?” tendou felt you nod, “give me your hand.” you shifted so he could grab your hand without making your arm hurt. he placed the ring on your left hand, “we’re still going to get married, (name), we promised.” tendou smiled up at you, kissing the ring lightly.
-you were sixteen when you went to one of his games
“ushijima,” you whispered.
ushijima nodded, walking towards you, “it’s nice to meet you, (name), satori talks a lot about you.” he lead you up to the family stands so you had a better view. no one questioned him even though he was a first year, he was strong.
“weird he has a game on his birthday,” you sighed, “i wish we were at the park.”
“he says that’s where you two met,” ushijima hesitated, “he says youre his wife.”
you choked on your yakult, “he calls me his what?”
“i must go, but im sure he’ll be glad you’re here with him as support,” ushijima didn’t think twice as he left you in the stands. you sat, ‘his wife? that was a joke when we were kids, but we’re in high school now-i have a boyfriend, now.’ you thought. you brushed the ideas aside, you were being dumb. tendou’s always been affection, so maybe it was simply one of those times.
“SATORI!” you cried from the stands, a large number five painted on your cheek. he looked up at the stands, seeing you made him swell with pride.
“hey, semisemi, that’s my wife, you see her-goshiki! that’s my wife!” tendou waved at you which he was not supposed to do. he reached below his jersey, the ring dangling on the flimsy chain. he smiled and tucked it back in. that night, every block he made was for you, all the effort and sweat was for you. the way you cheered kept him going.
tendou looked up and there was another boy, his hands on your waist pressing a kiss to your cheek. his attention was stolen from him to this new guy.
“satori?” you called into the park, “you left right after your game! I brought you your gif-”
“we’re supposed to get married,” tendou looked at you, “who was he.”
“his name is daichi, he’s a first year like us.” you scoffed, “are you jealous, tendou?”
“...tendou, weird, it used to be-”
“don’t finish that sentence,” you two had never fought before, it was weird, foreign. there was this tension in the air, you always held a silver tongue but backed off because this was your best friend.
“you pinky promised.”
“we were seven!” you exclaimed, throwing your hands in the air, “we were kids, tendou. this isn’t some elementary school game.”
“your ring,” tendou motioned to the naked hand, “where is it?”
“I stopped wearing it.”
“why?”
“tendou,” you spoke angrily, “we were kids.”
tendou hummed, reaching below his jersey and ripping off the necklace. you felt your heartstrings tear as the chain shattered. you wanted to cry, take it back and admit the ring was in your back pocket, you just didn’t want daichi to think you were dating tendou.
instead, you scoffed, throwing the gift to the ground, “happy fucking birthday, tendou.” you had tears in your eyes, wiping them away quickly and turning around. there in the bag, sat chocolate ice cream with freezer packs and a new copy of the weekly shonen jump. you were going to let him finally teach you about it, no matter how bored you got.
-you were seventeen when the park was empty
a year, a year with little to no contact with tendou. it got back to last name basis, but surely, he would be here. this park, this swing set was where you’d always meet for his birthday, rain or shine. you had traveled an hour and a half here, just to see him, to talk to him.
“thirteen years,” you mumbled, dropped his gift on the swings, “we’ve been coming to this fucking spot for thirteen years and he doesn’t come because I broke a pinky promise a year ago?” you yelled at nothingness. you’d waited for hours, it was already dark, about ten at night. you’d arrived when the sun was setting.
a small repaired chain sat in the small box, the ring already attached to it. tears pricked in your eyes as you placed it on the swings.
-you were eighteen when you saw him again
“hey, you guys are doing great!” you cheered on your team. your now ex-boyfriend gave you a thumbs up. yachi watched from the stands above, “looks like they’re running lat-” you mumbled, but stopped as the doors parted open.
tendou satori stood in all his glory, walking with the grand team. you looked up for a split second before lowering your gaze. he looked good. after the fight since first year, he seemed to delete you from his memories. no more phone calls, texts, nothing. your mother and his continued to talk, saying you should go over for dinner but you politely declined. your excuse was it was too far, which wasn’t really a lie, it took about and hour and half.
“satori,” ushijima whispered, “isn’t that (name)?”
“i guess,” tendou shrugged, “guess she has a new boyfriend, maybe two.”
nishinoya jumped around her, grinning as he asked for reassurance. tanaka watched you smile at nishinoya’s antics and his eyes looked as if they held stars, “good luck, guys!” you exclaimed, “and tsukki–remember you’re doing great!”
you and tendou’s eyes met, you mouthed a soft happy birthday before looking away and speaking to ukai. when you turned, tendou noticed the ring sitting on your left hand. at first he froze, did you actually marry someone else? you’re a third year, (name). he thought, but squinted to peep it was the ring you had given him when you were fifteen. a tiny grin fell on his face, “that’s my good girl.”
“hey, (name)!” tendou sang on the court. you looked up thinking it was one of yours “kids” but seeing tendou wave, “this game is for you!” he pulled the chain tucked under his jersey.
“you’re still wearing that?” semi rolled his eyes.
“don’t be so mean, semisemi!” tendou pouted, “she is my wife after all.”
your eyes widened, it’s been two years. two years since tendou decided to greet you as anything other than your last name. it made you angry and excited because you missed him. through the years and tears, nothing had ever split you two apart for that long.
each block tendou made, or kill ushijima scored, tendou would look and wave at you. every smile melted your anger and you found yourself rooting for shiratorizawa, ukai sending you a curious look as you jumped when tendou would make a correct guess.
as the game came to a end, a silence fell over the court, “SHOYO!” you cried and ran up to the small boy, wrapping your arms around his neck. you choked on your sobs, after three years, you guys were going to nationals.
tendou’s half smile laced across his face, ducking under the net and grabbing you from the group, arms around your waist.
“satori!” you pressed you hand against your mouth, “sorry… first name-”
“it’s okay,” tendou smiled at you, “it’s okay, don’t worry your pretty face. im sorry, and i want to talk,” he put you down, “are you free today?”
you smiled, “let me call my mom.”
on the phone, your mother squealed, repeating ‘yes, yes, yes!’ for minutes straight before you laughed and hung up. “ukai,” a nervouse stance took over your body, “i have to take care of something here, i have to stay behind.”
ukai glanced at tendou who sent a goofy smile to the two of you, he rolled his eyes, “that your boyfriend?”
“husband.”
ukai’s eyes widened, “…i’ll never understand you, (name).” he sighed, “go ahead.”
“where’s (name) going?” daichi watched you leap into tendou’s arms, noticing you never smiled that hard when you two dated in first year.
“meeting her husband, i guess.”
tendou gripped your hand, rushing you upstairs to the dorm, “im going to shower! feel free to tell ushijima to fuck off out of the dorm since it is my birthday.” he giddily grabbed a towel and ushijima walked in afterwards.
“oh, my apologies,” ushijima started to gather a couple of things.
“hey-ushijima, right?” you played with your fingers as you sat on the bed, “did he talk about me?”
ushijima paused, “he cut you off because he was scared of how you thought of him. he was afraid he wasn’t enough for you because you broke your promise, and maybe thought you were starting to see him as a monster. you know how he is,” ushijima held his gaze with you, “you should marry him. he loves you more than volleyball. every year we offer to change numbers on jerseys, even after you two stopped being friends, he refused.”
you wiped tears from your eyes, “thank you, ushijima.”
“you can call me wakatoshi,” he nodded, leaving the dorm.
an excited tendou rushed through the door, a towel around his waist. blood rushed to your face, “satori!”
“can i talk about shonen jump?! that’s what we were going to do last birthday we celebrated together!” he leapt, “after i give you an explination, of course. i missed you! i missed you a lot,” tendou jumped around like a happy puppy, “and i don’t even care if you have a boyfriend-! or girlfriend, it you started to swing that way! i missed you,” he repeated.
you laid on the bed, “i haven’t dated anyone since daichi.”
“ohh? but a pretty girl like you should have people crawling at her feet,” tendou pulled on boxers under the towel and pants over.
“didn’t say i didn’t,” you teased, “but they’re not you.” you mumbled.
tendou raised an eyebrow, “what do you mean?”
“i mean i always hoped we’d be friends again, but maybe not friends, you know? after we stopped, i cried–i felt it was my fault. but ushijima told me your side, it was a lack of communicatio-”
tendou cut you off, pressing a kiss to your lips, “it was my fault,” he whispered when the two of you pulled away, “i cut you off because i love you, i’ve loved you since you thought i was cute and not some monster. i couldn’t bear the thought of you cutting me off, so i did it first.” he brushed a strand of hair out of your eyes, “i thought you simply weren’t going to come back to me, im sorry.”
you smiled, “i’d always come back to you.”
tendou sat next you, you grinned, “hey–that was cool.”
“what was?”
“the kiss, do it again,” you watched his stupid smile return. he pulled you in his lap, trailing kisses down your cheek to your neck.
“i love you, too.”
-you were twenty two when you had your wedding.
it was the night after the wedding. you had barely changed and you and tendou sat at a picnic table, “do you still like me?” tendou glanced up at you, his head resting on your shoulder.
you understood all the weird looks you two had gotten, it was eleven at night and you were in a wedding gown and tendou was in a tuxedo.
“baby, we’re married.”
“yeah but–you know,” tendou chuckled, “doesn’t mean you like me.”
“...satori,” you rolled your eyes, “no, i don’t like you.”
tendou frowned, “it was a joke–”
“i love you!” you cut him off, cupping his face in his your hands and peppering kisses across his face. tendou grinned at your giggles as he did the same.
“you could’ve thought i was monster,” tendou stopped, “why did you call me cute?”
“i just thought you were, little five year old me was taught to always take opporunities, so i took one to talk to you. a lot of people didn’t talk go me, but you did, you acknowledged that fact i wanted to play tag instead of ignoring me,” you smiled, “kids called me antisocial, closed off, shy, but you… i was drawn to you.”
“some soulmate shit,” tendou smiled.
“hey, look!” you unlocked your phone, “it’s midnight!”
tendou smiled, giving you a quick kiss on your cheek, “it is, isn’t it?”
“happy birthday,” you wrapped your arms around his neck.
“thank you, my love,” tendou burried himself into his neck, “i wouldn’t want to spend it with anyone else.”

Faking It - Epilogue
Summary: You’d done plenty of dumb things in your life, but the dumbest had to be picking Greendale’s latest bad-boy to pretend to be your boyfriend.
Masterlist Part 6 | Epilogue
Word-count: 2.3k+
A/N: okay so about a million years ago @corishirogane3 sent me the cutest headcanon for this series and i had to make it canon. i’ve rewritten the ending so much that i’m not sure how i feel about it anymore but!! i wanted to post this sugary sweet ending after my finals so 💕💕 i hope you guys like it
Tumblr media
Caliban hated birthdays. His mother would always try her hardest to make each year better than the last, with more outrageous parties in the hopes that he would forget he was a bastard whose father cared more about his reputation than his son. It never worked.
Kinkle: Happy Bday man! You’re still an asshole but I’m glad we’re friends again
As if his childhood confusion wasn’t hard enough, Caliban’s teenage angst almost burned everything to the ground. He was angry at his family for abandoning him and his mother, at the people around him for being conceited and boring, and at California for being too goddamn sunny.
Theo: happy birthday to my gay awakening 💕
Birthdays made Caliban infinitely aware of his precarious loneliness in the world. He’d stopped telling people when his birthday was long ago, but somehow they’d find out and ruin his plans to spend the day alone and screaming at the sky. Year after year, it was just the same hollow wishes from people who didn’t really care about him.
Rosalind ✨: happy birthday old man. i got you a haunted portrait so you don’t wrinkle
But this year was different. Caliban still wasn’t sold on the perfect greeting card birthday, but he’d been less angry since moving back to Greendale. Dating you - real or not - meant he got a group of friends as part of the deal, and the lot of you had extorted his birthday to draw up his astral chart. Apparently, he was an Aries sun, Capricorn moon - whatever the fuck that meant.
Sabrina: Happy Birthday Cal 💞
Still, Caliban could move across the country and collect as many friends as he liked, but he wasn’t sure if he’d ever enjoy his birthday.
With a sigh, Caliban threw off his covers and padded across to his closet. He pulled out his usual dark clothes and scrounged around for his leather jacket before realizing he’d loaned it to you. He smiled to himself and set to make himself presentable.
This first hour of his birthday was always spent alone. It was one of the many birthday traditions he and Isobel shared, along with birthday pancakes, ditching the last half of school, and triple chocolate cake with Sour Patch Kids stuck to the icing. He was thankful for all the things his mother did for him, but that first dose of silence and solitude was crucial if he was going to deal with all the birthday bullshit that lay ahead.
Caliban’s phone dinged with yet another notification and he stopped in the middle of the hallway to dig his phone out of his pants pocket. Sure, Caliban talked a big game about hating birthdays but he still checked every text he got, hoping for ... something.
Fitch: Happy non-birthday to the best not fake boyfriend I’ve ever had ❤️ I love you and I’ll see you soon
He always read the texts, but he almost never responded. He leaned against one of the door frames and started typing something in the way of a reply. The only problem was that Caliban was only gifted in the way of words when he was lying, and he never wanted to lie to you. Caliban sighed and locked his phone without sending anything. He’d figure out what to say once his stomach was full of pancakes.
Expecting to come downstairs to the low hum of Isobel singing along to music, the smells of cinnamon, sugar, and melted chocolate, and one very messy kitchen, Caliban was surprised when he reached the bottom stair and heard your voice. Everything else was as expected, but you stood out among all the chaos.
“Is this okay?” you asked quietly.
Isobel stopped her humming for a second. “Oh, yeah! That’s perfect, sweetheart.”
The pancake batter sizzled in the pan and Caliban decided to brave the kitchen. It was still as messy as always, but there you stood, clad in a borrowed, sunflowered apron and brandishing a spatula.
Since you and Isobel were whispering and watching the pancakes rise with your back turned to the entrance, Caliban walked over as quietly as he could and got a better look at the assortment of toppings on the counter. He'd just bitten into one of the strawberries when you turned to grab something off the counter.
You jumped sky-high and Caliban laughed. “Jesus. How long have you been there?” you asked.
“Long enough.” Caliban tried to sound nonchalant, which was difficult to do with all his curiosity. His cool facade was also ruined by Isobel rushing around the island to hug him and kiss his cheeks.
Isobel settled slightly after sitting Caliban down on one of the stools and promising to be right back with his present.
With your new-found solitude, Caliban turned to with an amused smile. “When you said you’d see me soon, I didn’t think you meant quite so soon,” he said. He reached for another strawberry.
You were happy to have caught him off-guard. “That’s kind of the point of a surprise.” You turned back to the stove to keep the pancake from burning but looked over your shoulder to add, “I mean, I can leave if it’s a problem?”
“You would deprive me of your company on my birthday?”
You set a plate in front of Caliban that had a single, oddly shaped chocolate-chip pancake. “I'd never dream of it, Abercrombie.” You took a step back, pulled out a knife and fork, and set it in front of him. “Tell me how it tastes?”
Caliban cut a piece and held his fork out to you.
“No way. That’s your birthday pancake.”
“You would really make me beg on my birthday?”
“You can’t play that card the whole day-”
“Yes, I can. Because it’s my-”
“Don’t say it-”
The word was on the tip of his tongue, but Caliban didn’t get the chance to play his birthday card another time because Isobel rushed back into the room holding a wrapped present and grinning wildly.
Isobel set the present down on the stool next to Caliban and tapped the top. “I know you don’t like opening them in front of anyone, but I couldn’t wait.” She tapped the gift again before reaching out and squeezing his hand. “Happy birthday, my love.”
“Thanks, Mom,” Caliban said in a low voice. Isobel gave him the sad smile she always did on his birthday and he gave her the matching smile he always did.
Your voice broke both of them out of their birthday stupor. “Well, I’ve got to get going or I’ll be late.” You untied the knot behind your back as you spoke before lifting the apron over your head. “I just wanted to stop by to steal a few legendary birthday pancakes and drop off the scavenger hunt stuff.”
“I’m sorry, would you repeat that?” Caliban asked, sounding as saintly as he could.
Isobel laughed. “Your brilliant girlfriend figured out how to give you a special birthday while letting you spend the whole day by yourself.” She wrapped an arm around Caliban’s shoulders and looked over at you. “There are clues and activities all over town and you can only come back once you’ve finished them all.”
As intriguing as a day spent on his own seemed, Caliban couldn’t help but feel like there was a catch coming. “And what about my daily need for education?”
“I thought you were a fan of more alternate education,” you teased. You leaned over and ate another bite of pancake. “Don’t tell me you’re going soft in your old age.”
Caliban gave a short laugh. “I said no such thing.”
You smiled. “Your mom promised to give you the first clue after your first pancake stack. I’ll see you later, okay?”
Caliban nodded, suddenly unsure of how to respond. He was bad at receiving gifts at the best of times, and this gift was personal and bestowed upon him in front of his mother. It was an awkward set of circumstances. “Thank you,” he said softly as he hugged you goodbye.
“Of course.” You kissed his cheek and disappeared out of the kitchen after waving goodbye to Isobel.
Once you were gone and Caliban was left with the familiar sounds and smells of the morning of his birthday, he began to think that maybe his opinion on birthdays needed a bit of changing.
---
Though he’d only participated in a few scavenger hunts, Caliban was competitive and he was relentless. He tore through clue after clue in the same ravenous fashion that a pack of wolves would their next meal, though he tried to savor it as best his hunger would allow. Every handwritten clue was kept, every souvenir pocketed, and every moment memorized. He didn’t want to waste the most thoughtful gift he’d ever been given just because he was an impatient bastard.
But, as he stared at his suspiciously dark house, he wondered if he should have taken it a bit slower. The last clue had hinted at something waiting for him at the house, and his desire to finish the scavenger hunt waged war on his hatred of birthday parties. He was just about to put the car in reverse and dart into the street when your head popped around a curtain. You ducked inside at such a speed when your eyes met his that Caliban laughed at the mental image of you crashing into a lamp and trying to play it off.
In the end, neither his desire nor hatred lured him into the depths of his birthday party. His bizarre inclination to do anything and everything you wanted drew him in.
So, Caliban showed up at his party. He wore a party hat, played nice with the other kids, and blew out the candles on his cake. All in all, it should have been the perfect end to his perfect day. But even with all your careful planning, there was no accounting for the bullshit hole in Caliban’s chest that always left him feeling empty.
When the hole in his chest got too big, Caliban sneaked up the stairs, ducked into his room, and slipped out the window. He wasn’t running away - though the thought did cross his mind - but he just needed some fresh air. Harvey’s laughter mingled with that of his other friends and the laugh tracks of bad movies, drifting through the open window to the warmth of the April night. Still, there wasn’t enough fresh air in the world to fix him.
“Hey!”
Caliban twisted around to see you popping your head out of his bedroom window. You had a silly grin on your face and your hair was falling all over your face. The hole in Caliban’s chest got a little smaller. Your smile softened as you tilted your head to mirror his.
“Hey, you wanna get out of here?”
“Aren’t you worried about missing the party?” Caliban asked.
You shrugged. “Roz and Theo ate all the good snacks so it’s pretty lame anyway.” Caliban laughed and you flashed him another smile. “Come on, Abercrombie, you really gonna make me climb on the roof to come get you?”
Caliban let out a long whistle and adjusted to get a better look at you. “I’d like to see you try, but careful - it’s slippery out here.”
“Stop being an asshole and let’s get out of here before someone notices we’re gone.”
Grinning, Caliban rolled over and held a hand out to you. There was no need to be so secretive, really, but sneaking down his mother’s carefully cultivated trellis was half the fun. Caliban squashed some hydrangeas on the way down, you tumbled into him after getting your foot stuck, and the two of you were left breathless for a moment before rushing to the car so no one would discover your attempted prison break.
Giddy as you turned onto the freeway, the two of you laughed with the windows down and music blaring. Caliban didn’t think his birthday could get any better than it already was, but that moment with you was his favorite part. Or at least, it was until you started complaining about wasting away and you pulled into a diner for something to eat - then he found a new favorite moment.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Like what?”
“You know what.” You tilted your head. “Is this because of the fry thing? I’m telling you, if you just try it then you’ll like it.”
Caliban laughed and shook his head at ‘the fry thing,’ also known as your insistence to dip your fries in whatever milkshake you had on the day. “I’m not trying it.”
“You’re a coward.”
“You can’t say that to me. It’s my birthday.”
“You hate birthdays.”
“Still.”
Rolling your eyes, you pushed the plate of fries over to him. “Try it once, okay? And you’ll see it’s the perfect combination of salty and sweet, hot and cold, yummy and delicious.”
Caliban couldn’t help it. He’d been putting it off for almost a year now, and it just didn’t feel right to say no to you after everything you’d done for him today. Plus, you were cute when you got your way. So, he reached out and dipped a fry in the milkshake.
Annoyingly, it was everything you’d said and more. Despite the sugary, fried high he was bound to be on in a few minutes, Caliban knew the best part of this whole endeavor would be to see your sickeningly smug face when he admitted defeat.
You’d turned him into a cheesy cliche. He was disgustingly romantic, he carried your books between classes, and had your coffee order memorized. Because you were the sweet to his salty, the brave to his reckless, the Fitch to his Abercrombie.
And he wouldn’t have it any other way.

saint. || soobin (2.10)🌪*finale*
a/n: congratulations for making it to part 2 finale! I appreciate anyone who has made it this far in reading this series! ily<3333 enjoy!
Tumblr media

parked outside your house in the car was yeonjun, and you were more than glad he was on his phone and barely paying attention to you. you sighed, thinking about soobin’s words when he told you to be good for him. you made a promise to yourself that you’d be better until he comes back.
you entered the car and sat silently until yeonjun was done scrolling through his feed. you figured maybe you could use this time to mentally prepare yourself for school today. trying not to become too stressed, soon exams will be over and you could go back to having a regular mental capacity again.
“i don’t know. if i entered someone else’s car I’d at least greet them”. yeonjun mutters with his eyes still pasted to his phone. you slowly narrowed your eyes at him. “since when do you care if I greet you?”. you ask. he shrugs his shoulders. “common courtesy. manners too”. he replies. you huff your breath ignoring him.
“are we going anywhere?”. you ask.
“yes”.
“so can we go? we’re just sitting here”.
“why are you in a rush? you have nowhere to be at 6 o’clock in the morning”.
you cross your arms. you know what soobin said. but yeonjun wasn’t making things any easier too.
“you’re annoying”. you retort.
“and you’re some angel?”.
“I never said that”.
“sure as hell was acting like it when you told soobin yesterday”.
“are you not disrespectful? you don’t how to speak to people. that’s your problem”.
“surely we aren’t talking about problems when you’re 18 years old and need someone to teach you how to have sex”.
you glare at him, completely oblivious to soobin even mentioning such things to an asshole like him.
“that’s your problem”. yeonjun twisted, using your words against you.
“I don’t know why soobin is even friends with you. I hate you”. you grumble. yeonjun nods before starting up the car.
“good”.
you kept your mouth shut until you both were at the diner again. you really wanted to hit him for what he said. but you ought to be good for soobin. yeonjun gets out and slams the door behind himself like the rude person he was. you entered and sat across from him. he was reading the menu and asking the same waitress questions he already knew the answer to, he just wanted to flirt. you roll your eyes and pluck up your own menu preparing to order.
after she finished taking your orders she gave you this snarky ass look almost as if to say, “how does it feel to have your man taken?” . you wanted to assure her that you didn’t know and that yeonjun is completely on the market but you didn’t care enough. you felt yeonjun chuckling to himself at the entire situation.
trying to air out the drama you try to ask questions instead. you place your elbows on the table,
“how do you think today is going to go for soobin?”.
“he’ll be fine. he should get out within two days if those dumb ass officers reach a verdict already”.
“why two days? it takes that long? the boys don’t have a story”.
“for some odd reason they want this to be soobin fault so the officers been desperate to frame him. it going to take them longer than usual because the want to connect invisible dots”.
you sigh,
“this is ridiculous”.
“as fuck. he’ll be alright though”.
you sit back and think further until your food was sitting in front of you. you dragged your utensils out of the napkin preparing to eat with soobin weighing heavily on your mind.
“here you go with that shit again”. yeonjun insults taking a grossed out glare at your food.
“yes I can eat what I want. worry about your food and I’ll worry about mine”.
“I’ll worry about whatever the fuck i want to worry about”.
“worrying about me will get you nowhere”.
“yep, because you’re nothing”. yeonjun stated before forking a piece of fried egg into his mouth. you wanted to hit him so bad but you held back for soobin and soobin only. you ate your food quickly so you both can hurry out of there before yeonjun got hurt from going to far with his insults.
sooner or later you were at school attending a mass. it kind of bummed you out because it would be dull without soobin whispering and talking to you as if he weren’t supposed to be praying. one of the sister’s used their fingers to beckon you to the confessional. you had to admit you were kind of scared, it’s been a long time since you confessed to some things. maybe this was the life of a normal catholic teenager.
“good afternoon father benjamin”. you say kind of anxiously.
“good afternoon. is there anything you want to confess?”.
you took a deep breath. “i don’t even know where to start”.
“take your time”.
“this is kind of embarrassing but... i’ve been feeling more sexual than usual lately and i’ve been worried about exams and--someone trying to be framed for a crime they didn’t commit. i guess i’ve been too focused on my own life rather than praying that things get better for me”.
“first and foremost you must understand that sexual feelings are normal at your age. but it’s best to learn how to control them early on so they don’t spiral out of control”. you nodded, knowing you were in way too deep at this point.
“I understand”.
“your lack of prayer is your reason for your lack of peace. you are trying to handle all of your emotions on your own when our heavenly father doesn’t want that”. you nod once more feeling kind of guilty.
“and your job is to never stress over things such as friends with crimes. I understand it can be difficult to deal with but sometimes people are only who we think they are”.
“what do you mean?”.
“do not become too invested into someone you don’t entirely know about”.
you bit the inside of your cheeks thinking and nodding. “thank you father benjamin”. “you are forgiven, my saint”.
you thought about the priests words until mass was over, trying to figure out what he was getting at. you did completely know about soobin, right? he’s changing for the better?
all of the kids from mass were spilling back into the school building and attending their classes regularly. but it was hard to not lock eyes with yeonjun who was being guided into the principal’s office with two officers at his side. just the thought that the situation had to do with soobin made your heart race expeditiously.
the officers closed the door behind them and yeonjun was sat down in a wooden chair, completely confused with whatever was going on.
“good afternoon choi yeonjun. you’re not in trouble at all but these gentlemen are looking for some of the people  you may have connections to”. the principal spoke while still maintaining his serious demeanor. yeonjun looks back at the officers, “what happened?”. one of them stepped forward.
“there was an incident at the Premiere hotel just weeks ago. we looked at the security footage countless times. we would like to show you so you can identify these people if that’s okay? everything you do here--even your name is extremely confidential”.
yeonjun hid his nerves well. he shrugged. “yeah I guess that’s cool”. the officer nodded and pulled out a camcorder and turned it on, flipping it so that yeonjun could see. for starters it would be hard to figure out who anyone was, yeonjun thought. the camera quality was bad and it didn’t get the best angles. but it was easy for yeonjun’s brain of course. he spotted 5 males walk into a hotel room together. shortly after there was another male who appeared to be bringing a girl in the hotel room before leaving just minutes after.
yeonjun wasn’t stupid. he knew the 5 males were michael, minho, seongjun, kevin and beomgyu. he knew that soobin was the male bringing mia into the room. so he spoke accordingly.
“those 5 males, from what I can make out looks like--minho, michael, seongjun, kevin and beomgyu. I believe that female could be mia”.
“and the male to her left?”.
yeonjun shakes his head. “I’m not quite sure”.
“this seems fairly easy for you. are you sure you can’t identify him?”.
“the name on the credit card used that night says it belongs to someone by the name of choi soobin. do you think he has anything to do with this?”.
“could this be him in the tape?”. they back and forthed. yeonjun shakes his head again.
“I don’t think soobin had anything to do with it i mean, those guys are also thieves. and I can’t identify the male in that tape”.
“are you being honest?”.
yeonjun gives him a dumbfounded expression. “why would i lie to a cop?”.
“people do it all the time buddy. especially with footage like this”.
“welp, sorry to break it to you but your trash ass security footage has nothing to do with my integrity”.
with folded hands the principal gives him a look,
“choi yeonjun I think you need to be a bit more respectful”.
“pfft. that isn’t the first time I’ve heard that line”.
“we’re not here to frame you,  or anyone just yet. we just want information”. the other officer informs.
“thank you--as if I didn’t know that already I already gave you the information that I think to be true. if you want me to list random names of people in this building so you can have a solved crime then we can just say the principal did it and this can be over with”. yeonjun quips calmly.
“we understand that and we thank you for giving us the information we needed. Principal West I think we’re done here”.
“try not being hostile next time bud?”.
the officer closes the camcorder and the principal stands to shake both of their hands before helping them to the exit.
yeonjun not rolls his eyes in that moment but he also was rolling his eyes to you for the whole day, each time you asked him about what happened. you didn’t understand why he couldn’t just tell you. he was calling you difficult but at this time he was being the difficult one. after school you slid into the passenger seat of his car yet again. you took a deep breath before you spoke.
“yeonjun I’m only going to ask you just one more time and it’s only for the sake of me making sure soobin is okay. what happened with the police?”.
yeonjun starts up the car and switch gears.
“I thought I told you to mind your fucking business already?”.
“It’s just a question I don’t understand why you have to act rude and belligerent”.
“stop making me repeat myself and maybe I won’t act belligerent next time. stay in your place”.
“what are you talking about? If it has anything to do with soobin then it is my place to know”.
“if you do know what the hell are you going to do about it? you have no power or authority”.
“you’re annoying I swear to god”.
“and I apologize that god has to hear your dumb ass voice swearing to him once again”.
it took everything in you to keep still. the only thing that was keeping you calm was the fact that you both were on your way to see soobin. your heart danced until you were finally able to meet his gaze and he kisses you like he always did. yeonjun rolls his eyes, “any updates for today?”.
“they took the last of them in for questioning. they’re discussing the verdict today and I should know tomorrow”. yeonjun nodded before smirking.
“soobin is going to be a free man?”. soobin laughs,
“stop acting like i’ve been locked away for years”.
“I have to talk to you about something though”.
“what is it?”,
yeonjun hinted that you were still in the room.
“can you give us a second princess?”. soobin requests, and you did so politely. you thought you felt his eyes on your ass while you were walking out, either that or you were going crazy.
“you guys are fucking revolting”. yeonjun comments, watching soobin’s eyes indeed-- on your ass.
“she’s so sexy I want to eat her pussy again”.
“hold on, again?”.
yeonjun pretends to make gagging noises, “you can’t be serious”. soobin laughs at how dramatic he was.
“what do you need to talk to me about?”.
“the police came to the school today and asked me to identify the people in the security footage of the hotel that night”.
soobin’s eyes expanded and his heart nearly stopped.
“what?”.
“don’t worry, the camera shoots at like 20 pixels. it would be hard for anyone to identify, but i told them that I didn’t recognize you. I only identified the boys and mia. the only thing they do have on you is the fact that your credit card was swiped to pay for the hotel room”.
soobin throws his hands on top of his head,
“fuck”. he breathes.
“don’t even worry about this one. we’re going to get you a good lawyer and we’re going to fix this shit and make those motherfuckers go to jail for the rest of their lives alright?”.
soobin gradually nods, “fucking bad timing though”.
“don’t worry I think they are asking other people. it’s going to take them a while to collect data with the footage they have”.
“good. that’s good”.
“yeah it is actually”.
“how was my baby today?”. soobin asks on another note.
“you’re asking me that as if she isn’t annoying on a daily basis”.
“you two just can’t fucking get along for shit huh?”.
“hell no. and i don’t want to get along with her that’s your job”.
“it’s also your job to take care of her until i come back”.
“don’t remind me. it’s already a drag that I have to take her home”.
“you’ll be fine dipshit. make sure she’s in the house safely”.
“yeah whatever”. yeonjun says on his way out.
“tell her to kiss me goodbye before you guys leave”. soobin calls out shortly after. yeonjun glares at you in the waiting room.
“yo dumbass, go say goodbye to Al Capone”.
you scoff and do as you were told. you didn’t want to waste your energy on yeonjun especially if you were here for soobin right now. soobin kisses you again, adding a bit more tongue this time sinking your heart like so. when he pulled away you secretly wanted more.
“be good for me okay?”.
“hm. what do I get if I’m good?”. you reply, feeling kind of risky. soobin smirks,
“we can see how long you last on my face”.
at this point you were beyond flustered and soobin knew it. he chuckles softly,
“get home safely and make sure you study. yeonjun has my credit card if you need anything”.
you thank him and give him an okay before you left. you thought you could’ve been exaggerating things but what soobin said made you kind of wet. him eating you out was amazing but you could only imagine sitting on his face.
“a kiss shouldn’t take that long”. yeonjun complains as soon as you enter the car. you roll your eyes yet again. he starts driving.
“I didn’t know I was on a schedule”.
“you’re not. you’re on my time”.
“why do you always feel the need to speak? like seriously”.
“because I can and I will. whose going to stop me?”.
“I hope someone does soon because you’re really out of hand”.
“am I?”.
“yes”.
“I don’t give a fuck”.
“you should”.
“you should give a fuck about a lot of things”.
“I didn’t ask so mind your business”.
“I don’t have to”.
“you’re so self centered and low it isn’t even funny”.
“you’re so pathetic and inexperienced it actually is funny”.
you glare at him once again, god-you hated him.
“you’re annoying and I hate you, I hope you know that”. you say with a little more projection and attitude.
“you’re annoying and you’re also a bitch I hope you know that too”.
that was it, you had enough. you used all the strength you could muster to slap yeonjun across his face. with a clenched jaw he narrowed his eyes at the road ahead.
“don’t call me that”. you uttered and anger. the car jerked to the side of the road so hard you didn’t even feel it come to a stop. you didn’t have time to blink before yeonjun was grabbing you by the collar of your shirt. he was breathing heavy and his face looked more serious than you’d ever seen it.
“don’t fucking hit me”. he growled.
“stop being so disrespectful then”.
he pushes his face closer to yours.
“I can do what I want. what are you going to do about it?”.
the both of you found yourself breathing heavy and more than angry with the other. you hated yeonjun for all he was and he hated you with the same token. but it only took one swift glance at his lips for you to give in. he presses his lips on yours and you give in, kissing back like you had no care in the world. the two of you fought for breath before going back for more. his lips were kind of forceful yet soft. and he thought yours were too innocent to get enough of. he pulls you onto his lap while you were kissing him. his hands wandered your thighs and you let them in the heat of the moment. you didn’t know what you were doing but you couldn’t stop.
his hands grope your ass and you grinded down on his lap, resulting in your breathing becoming shaky. you were already wet from soobin’s words so it didn’t take long for you to start throbbing in your panties. you quivered when you felt yeonjun’s hand sweep past your clothed clit.
and that’s when it hit you--what were you doing?
you let the kissing come to a halt, “yeonjun we can’t do this”. he stares into your eyes also snapping back into reality. “you’re right, what the fuck are we doing?”.
you felt your heart still beating at a fast pace while you crawled back to the passenger’s seat of the car. hoping and praying that this all was just a dream. you didn’t mean for it to happen. maybe you were just desperate. you bit your lips.
“we can’t tell soobin about this”.

Sugar, Sugar (Final)
Ho ho holy long break between chapters but we are back and ready to wrap this plotless thing up!
MASTERLIST HERE
Enjoy! ***************
The door at Sweet Peach Bakery swished open, the bell tinkling merrily and Tony checked on the cooking lemon curd before calling, “Be right there! Two seconds!”
“No rush, I’m sure you’re making something delicious.”
Tony went very still, gripped at the counter top until his fingers went white and then forced his voice to professional when he greeted, “Oh hello. Natasha, isn’t it? I remember you from the other day at Bucky and Steve’s.”
“Mmm.” Natasha pursed her lips and looked the little baker over. “I’m sure you do. Have you spoken to either of our favorite beefcakes?”
“No.” Tony grabbed a lemon and zested the hell out of it, taking his aggravation out on the citrus rather than the redhead. “But you know that already, or you wouldn’t be here. And you aren’t the sort of person to bow to pressure, so you aren’t here because they made you come which means you are here for the sole reason of buying cupcakes, so in that case--”
He took a deep breath and sent her a smile. “What can I get for you? The special today is raspberry lemon strudel.”
“Wow. You are at least ten times more observant than that ruffled apron would lend me to believe.” Natasha leaned over the counter and studied him curiously, and Tony’s dark eyes flashed in brief annoyance before he replied, “And you are every bit the bitch that particular hairstyle makes you out to be. Do you want cupcakes or not?”
Natasha’s pretty mouth fell right open and Tony went back to aggressively zesting. “I came here to apologize.”
“Well you’re terrible at it, so start over.”
“Fair enough. I’ll start over.” the redhead inhaled, exhaled then said, “I won’t apologize for telling Steve and Bucky about your past. Those two are some of my favorite people in the entire world, my closest friends and since I know they are halfway past stupid in love with you, I’m not about to let a perfect stranger lie to them, are we clear?”
“This is your apology?” Tony slammed the stripped lemon into the juicer and forced it through. “Great job.”
“I would break a strangers heart and face a dozen different times before letting one of my friends be hurt in any way, shape or form.” Natasha said calmly. “And I won’t apologize for that. But I will apologize for how I did it. I should have come to you privately and tried to understand who you were--”
“-- and I would have offered you a cupcake and told you to fuck off because you and I are perfect strangers.” Tony interrupted, and Natasha smiled the littlest bit. “So instead you brought it up in front of a room full of strangers, decided to throw it in my face with a few key words that brought back two years worth of really shitty memories. Do you know what I’ve done the last three days? Eat low fat ice cream. That’s how upset I was.”
“Low fat ice cream sounds incredibly depressing and I’m sorry for it.” Natasha agreed. “But unfortunately when it comes to broaching uncomfortable topics, my skills lie with sussing out terrible people not dealing with less than malicious bakers who just don’t trust anyone enough to open up yet.”
“Your skills?” Tony scooped up a bit of lemon curd and tasted it, then slanted a sideways look at Natasha and offered her a bite as well. “What is it exactly that you do?”
“Data collection.” Natasha answered evasively. “This is the best lemon...thing... I’ve ever tasted.”
“Of course it is.” Tony took the spoon back. “And by data collection you mean you’re a spook. My Auntie Peggy says the same thing when people ask. That’s why you were able to find so much information on me even though all the records are over in Italia and not much more than out of print tabloids that don’t bother keeping published records.”
“Whatever you want to believe.” she nodded. “And I won’t ask what happened or for further clarification cos to be quite honest, I don’t care. All I care about is whether or not you’re going to break Bucky and Steve’s heart.”
“It’s more likely that they will break my heart.” Tony said tightly, and dumped a pile of lemon zest into his mixing bowl. “You might not want further clarification but you read enough to know I was hopelessly in love and absolutely idiotic with how I dealt with the break up. Isabella and Ranieri were fine afterwards. Clearly I was not.”
“Were you ever going to tell Steve and Buck?”
“I had no intention of taking this past a hookup, so I can honestly say no, I didn’t plan on ever telling them.” A block of cream cheese and butter joined the lemon zest in the bowl. “And at this point, I never plan on talking to them again so--”
“Don’t be dumb.” Natasha peered into the bowl curiously. “Steve and Bucky have been practically feral these last few days waiting to talk to you. I know you told them to give you some space right after I ripped the proverbial band aid off, and trust me. I’ve seen an agitated Bronco or two in my day but I’ve never seen him or Big and Blond this agitated. Call them.”
“Nope. Don’t think I will.” Tony turned the mixer on and moved to his other table to line a cupcake pan. “I’ve been feeling like maybe things were getting too commitment-y and this is as good a chance as any to just cut the ties and move on.”
“...wait, are you serious?” she blinked at the baker a few times. “Are you serious? You’d walk away from those two just because it’s feeling like a relationship? Why?!”
“I’m sorry, did you not see the file of my mistakes?” Tony plunked a scoop of crumbly crust into the bottom of each paper and flattened it out. “The last thing I need to do is get involved with another couple! Falling in love once was bad enough, here I am halfway through doing it a second time and I’m not looking forward to getting my heart smeared across the front pages of another half a dozen tabloids. Leave it alone.”
“Tony--”
“Remember how you said we were perfect strangers?” Tony interrupted. “Well perfect strangers don’t offer unsolicited advice. Would you like a cupcake or not? Take one and get out.”
“Fine.” Natasha stuffed a few dollars in the tip jar, then a few more towards the cash register. “Thank you. Should I tell the boys anything?”
“Nope.”
“Alright then.”
Natasha left the shop as quietly as she’d entered, then immediately reached for her phone.
From Natasha: Your favorite baker is at least halfway in love with both your dumb asses and is terrified of getting hurt again. Don’t screw this up.
From Natasha: Also, he’s got lemon cupcakes today and I think I gained seven pounds just eating the frosting. Literally amazing. Marry him.
From Steve: How did you figure out he’s half in love with us?
From Bucky: WTF you went and got cupcakes with out us? Bring me a one.
From Steve: Focusing on the wrong thing, Buck.
From Bucky: Sure am. Tasha I’m surprised he didn’t try to kill you. What the hell were you doing visiting the bakery?
From Natasha: Data Collecting.
From Bucky: Riiiiiight. So. Half in love, huh?
From Natasha: And Terrified
From Steve: We’re on it.

“Welcome to Sweet Peach, I’ll be right with--” Tony slowed to a stop when he saw who was waiting in the lobby. “--you? Hi. What are you guys doing here?”
“Heya Tony.” Steve’s smile was easy and soft and way to charming for how much it twisted at Tony’s heart. “How are you?”
“Still wondering why you’re here.” Tony was too frazzled to even be polite, folding his arms and then unfolding them, playing with his apron and then smoothing it back down. “What are you doing here?”
“Came by to get some sweet treats.” Bucky eyed the lemon cupcakes greedily. “And you know, some of that sweet peach you’re hiding in those leggings over there.”
“Bucky!” Steve hissed. “Tony, what Bucky means is--”
“--nah, I stand by what I said.” Bucky vaulted over the counter and came up close to Tony, wrapping both arms around the baker’s little waist and hauling him in for a long kiss. “Missed you these last few days, you doin’ okay?”
“I’m--I’m--I’m--” Tony’s hair was hilariously rumpled post kiss, eyes wide and maybe even a little scared. “I’m fine. But what are you doing?”
“I dunno what Bucky is doing, but our original plan was to come over and ask you out on a date.” Steve gave up on using words and pushed Bucky away so he could swoop a kiss onto Tony’s lips too. “Missed you, sweetheart. How are you feeling?”
“Very confused.” Tony touched his mouth where it tingled after Steve’s kiss. “You’re here to ask me on a date?”
“Well yeah.” Bucky dug his finger into a glob of frosting and mm-hmm’d in interest. “We’ve done the three months of hooking up, we’ve learned a bunch about each other and broken the ice and various surfaces while nekkid. Next step is a first date, right?”
“What Bucky means is--”
“-- would’ya stop tryna correct what I say?” Bucky kicked out at Steve in frustration. “I mean what I say, damn it!”
“What Bucky means is--” Steve dodged the next kick. “-- is that we want to make us official and we’re here to ask if you want to do the same. You want to date us for real, honey? Put a label on all this and maybe just move right on into all sortsa other good things?”
“Eh, I would’a said it better.” Bucky kept eating the frosting. “Babydoll what is this, lemon and lavender?”
“And vanilla.” Tony corrected. “But wait, you-- after you read what happened in Italy? You still want to date me?”
“We read what happened.” Steve swallowed and shared a quick look with Bucky. “You fell in love and got into a serious relationship, they changed their mind and broke up with you, you reacted about as well as anyone would in that situation.”
“Came stateside t’get away from it all.” Bucky finished. “Opened the best little bakery ever and managed to get two hunky beef-cake types to be all sorts of in love with your peach.”
“BUCKY!”
“And the rest of you!” the big brunette was quick to add. “In love with your sweet peach and the rest of you!”
“You guys are--” Tony audibly gulped. “You guys are in love with me?”
“But we aren’t saying anything like that until you’re ready.” Steve held up both hands peacefully. “We’re gonna start at square one. We’re friends, we’ve already done all the ‘get to know you’ stuff, now’s the time when we ask you out on a first date to see if a relationship would work.”
“You guys are in love with me.” The baker whispered. “Really?”
“Don’t matter if we are or not.” Bucky shook his head. “What matters is whether or not you’re gonna let us take you out for some winin’ and dinin’ and peaching this weekend.”
“...what about Italy?” Tony asked slowly. “Aren’t you going to ask me why they dumped me? Why I spiraled out of control?”
“The most we care about Italy is whether or not you’ll scream various Italian things the next time we get you in bed.” Steve grinned, and Bucky added, “And whether or not you’re really okay after it, or if you need s’more time. That’s it.”
“Oh.” Tony plucked at the ruffled on his apron anxiously. “Just like that? You aren’t going to ask a bunch of questions or think I’m unstable or-- or whatever?”
“M’gonna ask a bunch of questions about how much of this frosting I can eat before throwing up, and how much it would cost to hire you as a full time sweetie pie so you just feed it to me all day.” Bucky felt around for a ladle and dug it into the frosting bowl. “Stevie makes good money, he can afford to pay you for me.”
“Thanks for that.” Steve scowled at his boyfriend. “Tony, you tell us you aren’t willing to take a chance on us as a couple and we’ll keep doing what we’ve been doing. Or you don’t want to do that either, that’s okay. We’ll figure it out. All that stuff Tasha showed us-- we don’t care, alright? Life can mess us up and sometimes we move on, sometimes we don’t. We aren’t upset or-- or even curious, really.”
“You aren’t curious?” Tony asked doubtfully. “At all?”
“Sugar, the last thing I wanna know is how bad someone else hurt ya.” Bucky said around a mouthful of lavender and lemon. “All we wanna know is how we can fix it and make sure you never look that sad again.”
Finally Tony gave them a tiny, tiny smile. “Really?”
“C’mere.” Steve brought Tony back in for a sweet, sweet kiss, brushing his knuckles just lightly over Tony’s cheek and tangling his other hand in the apron strings so Tony wouldn’t pull away too soon. “Tony. All that sort of stuff about Italy and whether or not we’re gonna work out in a relationship-- that isn’t first date stuff. That’s like, fifteenth date stuff we talk about when we hand over a spare key to the apartment and we start planning vacations. We don’t have to talk about anything yet.”
“Plus, we ain’t that good at talking anyway.” Bucky chimed in. “So we could first-through-fifteenth date it up and then talk about it when you feel better and when you believe us when we say it don’t matter.”
“I think I’d like that.” Tony finally admitted and both Bucky and Steve lit up with excitement. “I think I could handle a--a first date. With the two of you.”
“Sounds like the best first date of my life.” Steve grinned and Bucky whooped, pumping his fist in the air.
“When-- um when do you want to go?” Suddenly shy, and far too adorable, Tony bit at his lip and peeked up at them through his lashes. “On our date, I mean. When should we go?”
“Should be a proper date, so let’s schedule for Friday night.” Steve said promptly. “We’ll make reservations someplace nice, pick you up here at the shop or at your place if you prefer that. Drinks first, then dinner. We can go for a walk through the park around the fountain afterwards and share a sweet but chaste kiss before saying goodnight.”
“Sweet but chaste?” Tony’s dark eyes twinkled with laughter at the same time Bucky repeated scandalized, “Sweet but chaste?!”
“Should be a proper date.” the blond repeated. “But uh-- there’s no sayin’ what could happen on a second or third date, huh?”
“Huh?” Bucky waggled his eyebrows at Tony. “Right? No sayin’ what could happen!”
“I guess not.” Tony’s cheeks were flushed bright with excitement and maybe even relief. “You guys are sure, though. Really?”
“Really really, sweet thing.” Bucky finally put the frosting down and motioned Tony back for a quick kiss and then a long hug. “You and us-- we’re just fine.”
“Thank you.” the little baker melted into Bucky’s arms, finally let the stress of the last several days just wash away. “Oh my god, thank you.”
“We got time to figure it out.” Steve came over and hugged them both up close. “It’s just a first date, nothing more complicated than dinner and drinks and a goodnight kiss. You wanna talk, we can talk. Otherwise we’ll just do what we always do and uh-- maybe yell at Tasha a little bit for making you so upset.”
“She was just looking out for you guys.” Tony’s words were muffled in Bucky’s shoulder. “I’d contemplate murder for anyone I thought was messing with Pepper or Rhodey, maybe I should be glad all she did was data collect.”
“Yeah, we’ve really got to figure out exactly what she does.” Bucky whispered and Steve just laughed a little and squeezed them tighter and the three settled in to enjoy the quiet, the moment, together.
But then--
“Wait, if the first date is going to end in a chaste kiss, does that mean I have to wait till date three for sex?” Tony wrinkled up his nose in complaint. “Because that doesn’t seem very fun.”
“Damn Stevie, he’s right.” Bucky’s eyes went comically wide. “That doesn’t seem fun at all! I feel like there’s somethin’ we could do about that.”
“Bucky.” Steve tried to sigh, but Tony interrupted, “No, I think the Bronco has a point! I have two perfectly good couches--ACK!”
Tony shrieked when he was suddenly, unceremoniously beef-cake less, both Steve and Bucky all but bolting for the back room and pulling at their clothes as they went and calling for him to hurry up.
“Okay!” Tony burst out laughing when Bucky’s shirt ended up flung over the industrial size dough mixer. “Okay, just give me two seconds to get all this put away!”
He hurried around the kitchen wrapping up the untouched frosting and cooled cake, then tossed his apron away, turned some music on and sashayed back towards his office singing softly, “Honey, ahhh sugar sugar! You are my candy boy! And you got me wanting youuuuu---!”

“What, so those two dorks just showed up and said they wanted to take Tony on a first date after three months of juicin’ the hell outta that peach?” Clint was shoveling bacon into his mouth at a truly alarming rate, and Sam smacked him upside the head before snatching the plate back. “Ow! Damn it!”
“Yeah, apparently, they decided on a real traditional first date complete with chaste kiss and Tony went for it.” Sam ignored Clint’s grabby fingers and passed the plate to Valkyrie. “It must’ve went well cos they texted me about skipping group breakfast. Something about lavender and lemon frosting and Bucky not being willing to put it down.... I dunno. Sounds like kinky baker sex to me.”
“I’m just glad my data collecting didn’t ruin anything.” Natasha sipped at her coffee and cut her eyes towards Bucky and Steve’s bedroom door. “I do feel bad he was so upset but...”
“...but not enough to keep it a secret from your best friends.” Val finished. “No one blames you, Tash. Specially not since it worked out.”
“Must’a really worked out if they aren’t out here yelling at us for breaking in and eating their breakfast food.” Clint finally got the bacon back. “Think they spent the night at Tony’s?”
“They said a chaste--”
“Yeah, when was the last time you saw anything chaste about the Bronco and Steve?” Sam cut in. “No way. My guess is they spent the night at Tony’s cos they would definitely be out here shouting at us for taking the bacon and making a mess in their--”
“EDWARD ANTHONY CARBONELL STARK!” The front door to the apartment burst open and everyone in the kitchen ducked and screamed-- or rather, everyone except for Natasha who whipped a knife out of nowhere and then just as quickly tucked it away when she saw who had come in.
“TONY!” The Colonel James Rhodes didn’t even look at the group as he stomped past headed for the bedroom. “YOU PUT YOUR GODDAMN PANTS ON AND COME OUT HERE AND TELL ME WHY YOU BUTT DIALED ME DURING YOUR HOOK UP LAST NIGHT?!”
“Good morning.” Next through the door was Pepper, tall and beautiful and apparently wildly amused by the whole scene. “Nice to meet you all. I’m assuming Tony is in the bedroom with Steve and Bucky?”
“Uhhh---” Valkyrie’s jaw about hit the ground. “I um--”
“I TOLD YOU LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED THAT IF I HAD TO LISTEN TO YOUR NASTY ASS DURING A HOOK UP ONE MORE TIME---”!
“Rhodey!” Tony was shrieking with laughter, Bucky and Steve shrieking with fear when the Colonel kicked in the bedroom door. “Rhodey, I’m sorry! You are my top contact in my phone, I can’t help the butt dials!”
“YOU WILL HELP THE BUTT DIALS OR SO HELP ME GOD--!”
“So.” Pepper snagged a piece of bacon off the plate. “How is your morning going?”
“Eh. Better than theirs.” Natasha decided, and everyone went right back to eating.
“Honey Honey, how you thrill me.” Clint sang as he poured syrup on his waffle. “Uh huh, honey honey!”
“No singing Clint.” Sam warned, and Clint protested, “Tony sings!”
“If you had a butt like Tony, we’d let you sing.” Natasha countered and Clint gasped, “I am hurt and offended.”
“You are neither of those things, and your butt is fantastic.” Valkyrie informed him. “But lets leave the singing to the sweet peach, huh?”
“Fine.” Clint grumbled. “As long as my butt is as good as Tony’s.”
“Aw. Sure it is, honey. Sure it is.”

__ __ __
Faint music in the background. Them on the bed, stretched out on top of the blankets. On their backs, phones in hands. Each of them caught up in their own digital world as they almost inaudible hummed along the lyrics of the song.
All the beats fell in between the silence that they shared.
Jens stared a little longer at Jana’s answer. He had felt worse with each day that had passed without his reply, which had only taken him a moment of his time, yet so much more. He turned off the screen, his phone placed next to him, before he turned his head to look at Lucas.
The younger boy was still occupied. His fingers typing away, his lips mouthing words, that Jens couldn’t hear. He had missed this so much. Had yearned to wake up again next to this boy that had struck him one bleak october morning. Remarkable how fast he had fallen, how gentle the landing had been in the end. So easy to accept and cherish.
The harder it had hurt to loose the thight grasp on him. Though perhaps he never truly had.
They didn’t even had a plan from here on out. Jens had brought it up on a call two nights ago, but had been cut off by the younger boy. The plan is to hold my hand tomorrow and never let go, Lucas had told him. The smile present in the soft pitch of his voice. Mellow. Calming.
Enough to stop his worry for a little while.
Lucas sighed and lowered his phone to his chest. The moment he faced Jens, his lips curled up and his eyes crinkled at it’s corners, the older boy forgot to breath. Still, after all these weeks.
„Hey, there. You good?“
It was barely above a whisper, yet it felt intrusive, too loud.
„Good enough.“ Jens replied vague, his gaze dropped in the second he spoke, before he was searching for deep blue eyes again. Perhaps this was his ocean to devote himself to.
„Well, Ies texted me that they should be here in, like, half an hour. I can still take them to my place. In case you don’t feel to well and need some quiet. That’s fine.“
„No, don’t worry. I’d rather have you here.“
Lucas huffed amsued, as he shifted closer, leaning in to kiss the older boy, eager to feel the lips on his. He tasted like bitter tea. And Jens loved it only for the times he got to taste it on Lucas’s tongue.
„Ies is so dumb though.“ The younger boy said, as he couldn’t help but chuckle and break off their kiss. Only to press his lips back with even more force a second later. Jens’s fingers tangled in brown locks of hair, as a hand run over his bare chest under his shirt.
„What?“ Jens whispered when he had halted for a moment to gasp for much needed air. He felt like he had missed a part of a conversation, trying to push away the pleasent fog clouding his senses.
„As if we would just make out for hours, when Lotte is around.“
„Sorry, what?“
„That’s what she implied when she texted me. Perhaps a bit more than just making out.“ Lucas explained. His expression graced by a brilliant smirk that needed to be kissed off his face, Jens thought. However it actually made him realise that Isa may not have been so wrong after all. And that wasn’t quite something he wanted in his mind right now.
He threw his head back onto the mattress, his eyes back on the ceiling. He needed his heart to calm and his blood to stop rushing down his vains. The tips of his fingers burning.
The sound of broken glass certainly did the trick. Jens suddenly sobered from his longing thoughts, as he instantly sat in bed, straightened up, listening past the music and past the rustling of sheets from Lucas moving behind him.
„JENS! JEEENS!“ The whine that followed already closed in as feet stomped up the stairs in rapid motion.
Alarms went off in his head, expecting the worse. The imagine of his mom, on the floor, hand bloodied and in tears, inmidst shards of glass and red drops.
He was already on his feet a second later, and by the door in a heartbeat after, quick to push it open.
His sister, almost infront of him, had just reached the last step. She looked fine. Unharmed. And yet a little shaken, while big eyes were staring at him in shock.
„Are you okay? What happened?“ Jens asked, a little more at ease with the knowledge that it probably wasn’t as bad as he had feared.
„I pushed the glass of the table and it broke and spilled all the juice over my homework before it fell. And now I have to write it all again.“
Jens wasn’t sure if he wanted to cry or laugh at the near heart attack and panic that he had been through just a moment earlier. Perhaps he wanted to just scold Lotte for scarying him that much.
But his little sister still looked rather frightened and close to tears herself, even if it only stemmed from her ruined homework.
He took a deep breath, not trusting his voice to sound reassuring otherwise.
„Alright. I’ll be down in a sec. Maybe you can already get the mob from the bathroom, so we can clean this before Kes and Isa are here?“ Jens suggested and watched his sister trotting back downstairs, after she had nodded and agreed.
Lucas’s arms wrapped around his middle, as he pressed his body against Jens’s back, The younger boy rested his chin on his shoulder, not without dotting his neck with a dozen tender kisses.
„This child, I swear.“ Jens laughed lightly, already feeling better again. The last couple of weeks had proven to have been a constant up and down. He could only hope that it would begin to settle now that he believed to have find some security in his friend’s and Lucas’s company. He would be fine.
Not now. Perhaps not next month. But one day.
„Okay then, let’s get this done.“ Lucas decided, while he pushed Jens forward and followed Lotte down. The two boys even managed to throw a brief glance into the mirror by the entrance, sorting their hair and smoothing their clothes out. To look decent, as the younger boy had put it.
It had made Jens look at him with a confused expression, only to be met by a shaking head and a soft giggle.
Sometimes he didn’t understand his boyfriend. And he wasn’t sure, if he ever could. He hoped he would, though.
„Look, it’s all gone.“ Lotte cried in her despair, as she hold up the three sheets of paper, dripping in apple juice. Jens had to agree, that this didn’t looked too good for her, but his main concern laid with the glass on the floor.
So while he was busy to clean that mess to their feet, Lucas and Lotte put their attention towards the table and his sister’s scattered school supplies.
They had gotten it done just in time. Right before the doorbell rang. The mop was put back. The papers on the heater next to the sofa. To hopefully dry them, and leave at least the text readable enough to copy from later.
„Bonsoir!“
The cheery voice from Isa hit them, as soon as they had opened the door. Kes next to her shouldering two large bags, while he somehow still waved and said his own greetings with a breathless smile.
„You are here!“ Lucas declared just as excited, while ushered his two best friends in. Jens was glad he had agreed to have them all spend the weekend together. He adored to see his boyfriend this joyous.
Jens was briefly enwrapped in a loving embrace by the girl, until Lotte shouted her name. And in an instant he had been forgotten.
„Aw there she is, my favourite eight-year-old.“ Isa proclaimed right next to him, before she scooped up Lotte into her arms. Both of them busy talking in rapid fire, about how much they had looked forwards to this.
A hand on his shoulder that pulled him into another hug, ripped his eyes away from the two girls. Kes had apparently rid himself from the weight of the luggage to be finally able to arrive fully and greet Jens personally. It was a little more than that, though.
„You are lucky, that this stupid boy loves you so much. I was this close to come and beat you up last weekend.“ Kes said, while he only left the tiniest space between his thumb and index finger as he gestured to Jens just how narrow he had escaped his fate, his tone light and playful. Jens, however, felt rather assured that there wasn’t an ounce of a lie to be detected behind those words.
He fortunately managed to smile through the realisation, vowing himself to better not fuck up ever again in the future.
„What, you love me? Cringe.“ Jens decided to joke instead, a cocky smirk stretched across his face. He turned his head towards Lucas, who immediately flipped him off without any hesitation.
„No. I don’t. Kes lied.“
„Shit, that hurts.“ Jens pouted in jest, his eyes blinking up at the grinning boy next to Isa.
„It should.“
That was all that Lucas had replied, before the five of them headed into the living room. All in order to give the newly arrived couple a quick tour of the house. Lotte darting right to the front to take on the role of the guide, eager to give too many details about everything that caught her eyes.
„I love you so much.“ Lucas had said a little later, when they followed the other three up the stairs, with a bit of distance between them. His fingers quick to grab Jens’s hand into his to squeeze them for emphasis.
Jens stopped them halfway up, stealing a kiss and then also a second.
One day he would feel like this, right here in this moment, at any given time. Be it when the sun was up and Lotte was ignoring him in her room, or when the night covered him in darkness and he would be missing their mom. One day he would be okay.
„I know,“ he whispered, „I love you, too.“

last note:
I can’t believe that for thirteen full weeks I kept writing and uploading this story. I have always written and almost never had found the energy or determination to finish even one of my projects.
this wasn’t easy to do, but it was all worth it to force myself through some days of it.
I did this.
I hope you all don’t mind, if I just take this moment to be proud of myself.
And I hope the more that this end is satisfactory to you.
I love you all.
Thank you.
Oh and I may have a little bonus clip on sunday.
I need to revise it, but I definitely want to take a day off.
It’s gonna jump a bit forward, but it gives a little idea on where they are heading.

And They Were Strangers
Tumblr media
Jyn Erso has been prepping for this for months. Years even, if you count the endless hours she'd spent running pools and hosting watch nights with her college roommates. She'd choreographed hundreds of dollars in auctions for remaining teams and had led multiple nights where her and her friends cooked their way around the world with the country of the week. The memories were great, sure, but to say she didn't feel a connection with this path in her life would be a lie. Something drew her in, tied her up, and convinced her that this - this - was the thing she needed to do before she died.
And now it was time. She was ready. Mentally… Physically… Hopefully.
AN: Will I finish writing this? I have a plan... But is it worth my time?
But the path to her next adventure was currently being blocked by some too-tall goon with haphazard hair and piercing dark eyes who kept getting in her way. First at check in, then in line for security, and now at the boarding gate. They’d practically been together, crossing paths and crashing each other, since she entered this damn airport and it was starting to really get to her.
"Are you planning on getting on this plane or just standing in the way?" Jyn growls under her breath when the man doesn't move forward with the gate agent's call.
"What - Oh," he leaps forward a step and hustles towards the woman, pulling his passport from his pocket as Jyn sighs and checks her papers again.
Her new American passport feels heavy in her hand, its empty pages a sign of things to come. She was on her way to Los Angeles where she was scheduled to show up at her first and only briefing for the next season of the Amazing Race. The producers had promised a full day of orientation covering the rules of the race and how the team match up would work before the "trip of a lifetime" began the next day. She was trying not to stress about it but she didn't quite know what she was getting into.
This was the first season where every team in the race would be a set of strangers. They'd all meet at the briefing but it wouldn't be until the start of the race when they'd learn who their partner was. The producers had billed it as the season of 'fate' where they tried to pick a winning team by pure dumb luck with names drawn from a hat. Or so she'd been told. Who knew how it would really work.
"Next!" The agent calls and Jyn scurries forward, passing her documents over and brushing her bangs from her face. In another second she's motioned through and she's heading down the gangway and onto the plane.
When she gets to her seat her frustration returns tenfold as the man from before has settled himself in her seat by the window, his seatbelt already clipped and his attention turned towards the action on the tarmac.
"Hey, you're in my seat," she greets, stuffing her duffle in the overhead bin.
"F? Window?" He answers with an almost-accent and a quirk to his lips. Jyn frowns and steps into the row to let the people behind her pass.
"Yes. That's my seat, can you move please?"
"I was sure I had the window, I feel claustrophobic if I can't see out - "
"Yeah, I'm sure. Can you check your boarding pass?" She asks, cutting his sob story off before it can even get started.
"Can't I just have it this one time? It's a short flight," he answers, making no move to relent. Jyn sighs and drops into the seat next to him, her eyes closing tight as she urges the irritation to ease.
"Fine. But this is bad karma and I hope it comes back to bite you in the ass, asshole," she grumbles the last part, determined to insult him but not loud enough to cause a scene. The man coughs as if to hide a laugh and Jyn hates him even more, pulling up her hood and taking out her headphones.
She was going to spend the next two hours in a music haven, mentally far from this man and the constant bumping of her elbow that came from sitting in the aisle row. Soon she'd be in LA at her hotel and then she'd be on to a new country, with a new language and culture that she'd have to work with to get her team to the finish line. Then she’d do it again and again until they won. Or they lost. She didn't like to think about that last possibility so instead she closes her eyes and hits play.
---
The hotel bed is more luxurious than anything she's ever slept in in her life and when she wakes it's with a curse as she realizes she's almost late to the briefing. Hustling around the room, she nearly crashes onto the floor when her pants get tangled and she loses her balance. Cursing out her alarm, her beautiful sleep, and the time difference, Jyn pulls on her t-shirt just as she pulls open her door and slams into someone walking past her room.
"Shit, sorry!” She gasps as she rights herself and pulls back. When she looks up it’s to find the man from the plane. The one who wouldn’t give her back her seat. The one who’d been a pain in the ass all day. “You!” The man’s eyes widen and he looks around him like he’s being Punk’d, surprise in his brow.
“From the plane?” He counters, as if he was still struggling to place her.
“Yeah. What, are you following me? How did you know to find me here?” Jyn growls, crossing her arms. The man cocks his head and furrows his brow, looking at her as though she was crazy.
“Follow you? I’m here for… A thing that has nothing to do with you. If anything, I’d think you’re stalking me,” he adds sharply. Jyn scowls and shakes her head, her watch beeping with her five minute alarm.
“Sure. Fine, whatever. I won’t be here long enough to have this happen again. Have a good life!” She shouts as she hurries off down the hall, her hand flung up into the air and her middle finger pointed towards him.
She takes the stairs down to the conference room because getting stuck in the elevator with that jerk would put her nerves over the edge, their already frayed status from the late wakeup making her more punchy than usual. By the time she barrels into the room and grabs a plate of the breakfast, the producer is calling everyone to a seat.
Jyn moves towards an empty chair and begins measuring up her fellow racers, her eyes drifting over one person and then the next as they settle in a semi-circle around the speaker. Some of them were incredibly fit, others a bit paunchy but she figured they could probably take her in a memory challenge or two if it came down to it. Most of them were on the younger side, maybe in their twenties or thirties, though there were a few who easily slotted into their fifties at the very least. She didn’t want to be ageist but she secretly hoped she’d get paired with someone who could keep up with her at the very least and she didn’t really peg any of these older folks as marathoners.
“Welcome, good morning everyone!” A young woman calls out, drawing their attention to the front of the room. Jyn sits up and nimbles on a muffin, trying to look intimidating to the others around her who she assumed were doing the measuring up as she had just been.
“You’re in my seat,” a voice says over her shoulder. Jyn’s stomach drops and she frowns, looking back to find the man from the airplane and the hallway standing behind her. “Don’t worry though, I’m not going to make you move, I’ll just take this empty one here.”
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me,” Jyn hisses, clenching her hands and nearly crushing her muffin to pieces.
“Nope,” he responds as he sits in the chair next to her. An insult is on the tip of her tongue when the woman calls out again and really takes control of the room, beginning with a welcome spiel before moving right into the security briefing. After the team has explained every terrifying aspect about the world in explicit detail, Jyn looks around the room and finds half of the contestants with a concerned look on their faces, the other half grinning wickedly at the challenge. Beside her the man keeps his expression reserved though his eyes are calculating, the look making her guess whether he was regretting his choice or simply bored.
After the welcome session, they’re broken up into groups of four and are led to a table in the corner of the room. Jyn sighs a breath of relief as the man is placed in another group, his presence finally dissipating and allowing her to focus on the tasks at hand instead of the prickling skin she felt whenever he was close.
Hours pass and the contestants are moved around the room to different stations where they focus on different aspects of the game. There’s logic tests and geography quizzes which she passes with flying colours but when it comes to the language skills and memory games she flounders, her attention twisting towards her fellow contestants. She spends half the time trying to measure up where they stand on these activities, who would be best suited to the way she wanted to run this race.
Her strategy - based on years of watching the show - was to run with brute force. She would power through on the physical challenges and when it came to figuring out a puzzle she was set. She just needed a partner who would be able to keep up and rush into everything just as hard. Smarts weren’t what won you the race, it was being able to push your way through anything and she had trained to do just that.
“Everyone now has an hour for lunch. Feel free to get to know each other and remember, these folks might be your competition or they might just be the person you cross that finish line with!” The producer from earlier calls as the stations are closed and the participants are left to loiter in the room.
Jyn feels like she’s in a social experiment as she beelines towards the food table to take a plate. She loads it up with everything she’s going to miss for the next few weeks - caesar salad and french fries and pasta salad that looked too delicious to miss. When she settles at a table she’s quickly joined by a handful of others, the conversation easily picking up from the morning activities.
“I’m Bodhi Rook, you?” The man sitting next to her says around a forkful of salad. Jyn looks him over quickly and notes his tall frame and long hair, his thin frame and open expression. He could be a good partner - she’d seen him race through some of the challenges with an efficiency she admired.
“Jyn Erso,” she answers, lifting her hand to offer a shake. Bodhi takes it and squeezes it before turning back to his food, diving in as she looks around the table at the others. “You heard anything about how we’re going to be assigned teams?” She asks after a few minutes, her water lifting to her lips.
“Not really. My group thought maybe the stations were to see where our strengths were so they could match us up better. But I was also told it would be a name in a hat, so who knows what they’re planning.”
“Yeah, I heard the hat thing too. I hope there’s a little more thought put into it,” she responds with a shrug. Bodhi nods and lets a laugh escape.
“Either way, I think I’ll be okay. I just like the adventure of it, you know? Don’t really need to win the whole thing,” he says around another bite.
Jyn frowns and looks at her food, debating internally whether she could be paired with someone who didn’t want to win the whole race. If she had to admit it - though she’d never say it on camera - she wasn’t here just because she liked the show and wanted to see the world.
She was here because she needed the prize money.
The thought creeps up on her and she pushes it back down, stuffing it into her chest like too many clothes in a carry on bag. She didn’t have time to think about it now, not when she should be sizing up her competition and thinking about U-Turn and Yield strategy. No. She needed to focus.
“What about everyone else?” Bodhi asks the table when Jyn still doesn’t respond. She turns her attention to the people around them, listening as first a bright eyed Luke Skywalker and a gruff Baze Malbus explain their motivations before moving on to Leia Organa, a beautiful but strategic thinker, and her cocky puppy-dog-tail for-the-day Han Solo easily admits he’s only here for the money. Jyn can’t help but think he might be her real competition if they don’t get paired together, the gleam of a quick buck in his eyes adding to his boisterous energy.
Taking another glance around the room, Jyn weighs the rest of her competition as they sit at two other tables. Sixteen racers in total, all with different motivations and experiences that they bring to the table. They’d be eight teams and the producers had all but guaranteed it would be a tough race with all of them having secret strengths that were admitted in their bio videos. Jyn can’t remember what hers ss but by the time she turns back to the conversation at hand, she already knows one thing is for sure - she’s going to win, even if it kills her.
After lunch they’re broken off into individual briefing rooms where they’re given their racing issued equipment and a final check in with the producers before they’re sent off to their rooms to pack. In the morning they’ll all be meeting in the lobby to hand over their backpacks before heading to the starting line.
When the race starts their first activity will be finding their matched backpack with a coloured bandana tied to it. The racer with the matching bandana will be their partner for the duration and it will either be a successful match or a story of just how quickly Jyn can crash and burn their team.
Throughout the evening she tries not to think about it - pushing away thoughts of how hectic tomorrow would be, how much adrenaline is already rolling in her veins and just how is she supposed to sleep tonight? To distract herself she focuses on potential strategies depending on who she paired with in the morning. Baze could work, or she’d even probably be successful with Han if they didn’t rip each other's heads off. Bodhi would be a great candidate - he seemed relaxed and competent, but Jyn didn’t like that he wasn’t driven by the final prize so much as he just wanted to have an adventure.
No, she could pair with most of the people she’d met that morning. With the very real exception of the man from the plane who she’d learned was named Cassian Andor. There was no way they would be able to work together to even get out of the States, their partnership tanking before they even took their first flight. She was sure of it. And so when she falls asleep that night it’s to the thought that she had a one in fifteen chance of failing and those were pretty good odds.
---
Morning comes in a rush of excitement and insanity and a paranoia that she’s forgotten something even though she’s checked her bags at least a dozen times. When she gets to the lobby, the assistants take her old bags and mark them with her tags before collecting her race bag and shoving it onto a luggage cart with the other packs. She’s directed to a holding queue where the racers mill about, snacking on the continental breakfast and filling their water bottles.
Twenty minutes later and they’re piled onto a bus. Thirty minutes later and they’re being placed around an empty field with only the production crew circling them and a pile of luggage in the center of the field. Jyn thinks she spots her bag with a blue tag and she grins, looking around at the nervous faces she was up against.
“You’ve got this,” she whispers to herself as Phil Keoghan begins his speech from near the luggage pile. Adrenaline spikes in her blood and then there’s a horn and she’s racing forward, scrambling for the luggage pile and her bag with its bandana looped through the arm. She pulls it free and stumbles back, looking around at the other racers as they take in their own colours, desperately looking for their partner.
Not Bodhi. Not Baze. Fuck, not even Han. She scours the faces and colours until she sees it - blue, like hers! She steps forward, her smile widening having finally found her partner.
But then she looks up. And her eyes meet her partner’s.
Dark brown meeting green.
Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck.
“Guess you’re stuck with someone with bad karma,” he says evenly, the nerve of it making her want to pull her hair out. She curses again and grabs for his arm, dragging him towards the clue box for their next instructions. They didn’t have time to waste on pleasantries and witty comebacks, not if they wanted to win.
She could do this. Brute force was all it would take, right?

Saving Kacchan
A another fic from my other blog! Just a small bkdk hurt and comfort piece that takes place after Bakugou was kidnapped!
Word Count: 1,638
Tumblr media
“Stay back, Deku!” Bakugo insisted, just as the villain with stitches yanked him into the warp, disappearing from sight as Izuku dove towards them, only to smash into the ground as Katsuki was taken from his friends. The young heroes stared at the sight where the blond student had disappeared from then slowly turned to Deku, who was still lying on his stomach, a look of disbelief and something that could only be described as heartbreak across the face of Midoriya.
Todoroki inched forward, perhaps to help his friend to his feet or pat him on the back in reassurance but the shattered voice of Izuku rang out as he screamed, his voice rattling against the trees, the leaves fluttering at the sound.
Soon, Tsu and Ochako managed to catch up to the rest of their friends and as they broke through the line of trees into the small opening, they paused at the sight that greeted them. There, lying in the center of his friends, was a now sobbing Izuku, his arms lying limp at his side.
The frog like hero turned to Tokoyami, who was laying on the forest floor, confusion and frustration across his face then she murmured, “No… they couldn’t have gotten Bakugo.” But with a quick nod of her friend’s head, instantly one of Izuku’s greatest fears were confirmed: his life long friend and long term crush had been kidnapped by the League of Villains and no one had any idea on why they wanted him.
Eventually the group was able to make it back to camp, Aizawa encountering them as they broke the treeline, a now unconscious Izuku cradled in Shoji’s arms, the rest of the students limping in beside them. The damage was evident and it was clear that whatever the villains were aiming for, they at least succeeded in one part: capturing Katsuki Bakugo.
The first time that Izuku regained consciousness for an amount of time longer than a minute, his mother was downstairs in the cafeteria, grabbing something for her to eat. Aizawa was waiting bedside, to give an update as best as he could. However, the fever he gained from his injuries had turned him delirious and it nearly broke Aizawa’s heart to tell the young hero the truth about what had been going on for the last two days.
“Kacchan,” Izuku rushed out, nearly jumping out of his skin, “I need to find Kacchan, I can’t let Shigaraki have him, he’s mine!” His teacher laid a gentle hand on his shoulder then stated in the softest voice he could muster, “Stop, you’re going to rip your stitches. Bakugou… he hasn’t been found yet, but we’re looking for him.”
An almost inhuman screech erupted from the young hero then began thrashing around in his bed, fighting his teacher’s grasp as he screamed, “Kacchan! I have to find Kacchan! He can’t be left on his own, I won’t let him think that I left him behind!” A nurse rushed in then murmured, “It’s okay, sweetie, it’s alright, I think you’re just a bit delirious from the pain, so just lay back and relax, I’m going to give you something to numb that darn old fever of yours.”
The next time that he awoke, Inko was standing outside of his room chatting with a doctor then he turned to the left of him, surprised to see Recovery Girl putting away her lip balm as she sat in the chair beside the bed. She glanced up then said softly, “Oh Midoriya… I heard what you did for that young boy, to protect him. And poor Bakugou.. I am so sorry, Izuku. I know how much he means to you.”
Izuku’s body began to tremble, tears streaming down his face and she raised a soft hand to his face, wiping his tears away as she murmured, “It’s okay, sweetie. All Might is going to find him. Don’t you about a single thing, Izuku. The only thing that you need to worry about is getting better.”
He sniffled and curled into himself as best as he could without too much stress on his body then the recovery hero gave an understanding nod before exiting the hospital room. And so much more would take place over the course of the next few weeks. The heroes would rescue Bakugou, All Might would defeat All for One and retire as the Symbol of Peace, and the students of UA would move into the dorms as a further precaution to prevent villain attacks.
Izuku was finishing up the final touches in his room when someone knocked on his door, causing him to pause. Uraraka and Iida had both stopped by when they had finished moving in and they had offered Midoriya to go to lunch with them but he turned them down, citing that he still had so much to finish and he was still feeling the aftereffects of the camp attack. So who was knowing at his door?
He began to walk towards the door when the person began to knock insistently, clearly agitated that Deku hadn’t answered their first civil tap. Confusion set in when he realized that it was Bakugou on the other side of the door then the green haired teen opened the door to see a glaring Katsuki.
“Took you long enough to open the damn door, Deku. What are you, deaf? You know what, don’t answer that.” Bakugou muttered, pushing into Midoriya’s room. Izuku raised his eyebrows at his oldest friend then yelped, “W-Wait, Kacchan, what are you doing in here?!”
The blond shot him an annoyed look and settled at the foot of his bed as he answered, “What the hell do you think I’m doing in here, you damn nerd? I’m here to… I’m here to say I’m sorry. I know you got real fucked up when the League kidnapped me and I wanted to ask you… Fuck, this was a stupid idea. Fucking Dumb Hair and his fucking idiotic ideas-”
“Wait, Kirishima told you to come say sorry to me?” Midoriya asked in a quiet tone. Bakugou froze and glanced up when he realized what he had let slip then Izuku slid into a chair, staring down at the multiple journals he had stacked on the desk.
Katsuki came to a slow stand then crouched in front of the green haired hero before he admitted in a low voice, “No. I decided to come say sorry after I got unpacked. Shitty Hair wanted me to ask you something else because he has this stupid fucking theory about us, said he had actual proof to back it up too.”
Midoriya stiffened as the words set in and Katsuki took notice of the tenseness before he accused, “You know what he wanted me to ask you now… don’t you, Deku?” Color flushed into the shorter teen’s cheeks and he began to shake his head before Bakugou rose to his feet, tilting Izuku’s head upwards with a finger as the blond snarled, “Don’t fucking lie to me, nerd, I know you better than any of these extras could ever fuckin’ hope to. Tell me the truth: do you know what Kirishima wanted me to ask you?”
“I mean, I might but if I’m being honest, I have no real proof if it’s what he wanted you to talk to me about and if it is what I’m thinking he wanted you to ask then he has no right telling you to ask me that when he knows that I know that you don’t actually feel the same way-” Katsuki tangled his fist into the front of Izuku’s shirt then jerked up to his feet, leaning close enough to where their noses brushed then he hissed, “Quit your fucking blabbering, Deku, and tell me the fucking truth. Don’t tell me what you think you know, just fucking tell me what you think Dumb Hair sent me to ask you.”
Midoriya’s eyes widened and he gulped hard before he whispered, “I think he sent you to ask me if I had a crush on you.” His emerald gaze fell to the floor as Bakugou stared at him, his expression surprisingly unreadable. After so many years of knowing each other, Izuku thought that he knew every emotion and the way that Katsuki had viewed them but this one was new and so unfamiliar to the younger teen.
There was no telling what was about to happen, so how was Izuku supposed to protect himself when Bakugou would lose his temper? But then the truly unexpected thing happened; Katsuki released Deku’s shirt and cupped his face to pull him into a kiss.
Midoriya’s knees nearly buckled but the blond pulled him closer, his tongue peeking out to press into the young teen’s mouth before Katsuki backed away, a satisfied grin across his face. Izuku stared up at him with wonder in his eyes and the taller hero traced a thumb along Deku’s bottom lip as he rumbled, “Don’t fuckin’ assume shit, ‘kay, nerd? Makes you look like an ass and trust me, you have enough ass already.” The green haired teen stared at his oldest friend then he whispered, “You kissed me… Kacchan, do you like me?”
“You’re a pain in the ass nerd who doesn’t know when to stop talking. But you’re my fuckin’ nerd so yeah, I guess I like you or whatever. And if Shitty Hair hears that I kissed you because I let it slip that he wanted me to ask you out, I swear to God, I blast you to America, you got me?” A giddy laugh escaped Midoriya and he smiled up at Bakugou like he had hung the entire galaxy just for Izuku then he replied, “I got you, Kacchan. And I’m not letting you go this time.”

Greyson stayed slumped against the wall longer than necessary, hopelessly trying to bring her heart rate back to normal after the frankly, overwhelmingly hot, interaction with the Colonel. Yes she was ecstatic that she had been chosen for his team, but she wasn’t really able to process that information after the mess he had left her in. She was panting like a dog in heat, unbearably turned on, and sticky in places she hadn’t been in a very long time. Whatever he had just done to her, she wanted more of it. Lots more of it. He had opened a gateway into all things filthy and it frustrated her to no end.
Pushing herself into the upright position was no easy feat, but she knew she needed to work out her frustration even more after that interaction with the Colonel.  No, she thought, maybe from now on I should call him Carrillo, since he is now my boss and all. The thrill of that settled low in her stomach and had her heart jumping at the thought. Grunting she pushed herself towards the gym with haste, before she could follow the mounting temptation to follow the Colo--- Carrillo, down the hallway to finish what he started.
Glancing around the gym she made note of the equipment. A few boxing bags, a couple of dumb bells, a bench press and other various things she could not name. Not the best of gyms but it would do. Stripping out of her long sleeve camo shirt she was left in her army issue green t-shirt, a shirt that was usually reserved for occasions such as this. She made the hasty decision to shuck off her boots and socks leaving her barefoot, before rolling her pants legs up a few inches to rest a rough inch below her knee. A much more practical workout attire.
Forgoing the weights as they weren’t her style, Greyson focused on the bags hanging in the middle of the room. Now this is where she would have fun. Coming from a generational military family had meant that her father had wanted her ‘fighting fit’ as soon as she was able to walk. By the time she was five years old she had been enrolled in martial arts and kids cadets. By age twelve she had won three championships in the sport and taken home the drill trophy at the cadet school. She couldn’t have made her father prouder, until the moment she won nationals for kickboxing, taking home the trophy and quite substantial prize money. That was the moment she knew she wanted to fight for a living, not as a pro kickboxer but as a soldier like her father was, she was only fifteen at the time.
At age seventeen she enlisted in the army, only to be denied on medical grounds and put on a two year stand down. From then on out, her father didn’t pay her any notice, always stealing himself away from the ‘disappointment’ of the family and being deployed for months at a time on purpose. Being the only child, and being denied access into the only service her family thought fit to serve in, made her feel like a useless waste of space.
Even while feeling like the worlds biggest disappointment she still pushed herself to her limits, training seven days a week for up to four hours a day, trying oh so desperately to make her father proud of her. At nineteen she didn’t want to become a regular soldier, she wanted to become an officer, but that would require her to wait another two years to be the minimum age to enlist. So she waited, kept training hard. She took shooting lessons at the local range, would do weighted pack runs three times a week and spend hours out in the bush at night teaching herself survival techniques. All the things she could hope would help her when she finally made the cut.
When she enlisted again at twenty-one, they denied her on the grounds that ‘she didn’t have enough life experience’, so this time, instead of letting it get to her, she doubled down on the training. And finally, when she reapplied again at twenty two years of age, she was accepted and began her first day of training a mere week after her twenty third birthday. Yet, she was still one of the youngest of the cadets she enlisted with, the eldest, Cadet Monroe, being thirty two years of age. It baffled her why someone would join as a cadet at that age when she knew the LT. Colonel, and possibly the Colonel himself, was younger than the cadet.
Pushing those thought from her mind Greyson began her workout, spending a small amount of time to warm up, before jumping straight into combination drills on the bag that she had learnt many years ago. She was able to switch off at this point, the years of doing the same routines over and over had drilled this into her muscle memory. She was all fluid motion and hard calculated strikes at her age. Briefly her thoughts return to the situation that had occurred mere minutes ago in the hallway. The way the Colonel’s body had been so tightly pushed against her had her breathing increasing, far from being exhausted  she threw more weight into her strikes.
Damn that handsome bastard of an officer for working me up like this. This is the kind of shit that shouldn’t be getting to me anymore! , and with one last frustrated huff Greyson threw her hardest punch yet, yelping from the force of landing on the bag. She pulled her hand towards her chest to examine it. From the look of it, there was no damage done other than a few bruises covering her knuckles, not an unusual feeling for the cadet. She just wish she had been quick enough to land a hit of that smug face that was now haunting her thoughts more so than ever.
                                                       -------
Carrillo had finally made it to his intended destination, Lt. Colonel Sinclair's’ office. There was small doubt in his mind that the man residing within the office had been playing upon His cadets’ emotions during the course of her training. He wasn’t a stupid man by any means, he had put two and two together after witnessing the moment that occurred between himself and Greyson at the training yards. The smug smirk the Lt. had sported while walking past him that   day had planted a seed of disrespect towards the man.
Carrillo didn't bother to knock on the man's door before barging in, he was in fact the senior officer in this situation so the LT. could suck it up.
Sinclair stood up in a hell of a rush, not really sure as to who would be bursting into his office at this time of day, he had half expected to see Cadet Greyson standing there waiting to apologize and finally accept his attention, instead he was greeted with the stone faced Colonel from Columbia.  “Ah Sir, good to see you again, I gather that your time on the base has been productive, congrats on forming your team. Now, what can I help you with, Sir ?”
“It has been brought to my attention that you were not forthcoming about the information regarding the cadet that I have selected, rather you lied to the cadets while claiming you had not yet been informed yourself, is this true Lieutenant?”
“I... uh... what Sir. I don’t know where you got that bullshit from but that is not the case, I held Greyson behind to give her the good news but she stormed off before I could tell her” The lieutenant cleared his throat to cover his mounting embarrassment at the situation before him. He definitely wasn’t above lying to cover his tracks and throw the Colonel in front of him off the scent of his essentially illegal advances at the cadet mentioned. He was greeted with a raised eyebrow and a knowing look on the Columbians face.
“I think it's safe to say you can cut the shit, Sinclair. I know all about your advances toward Cadet Greyson. I fail to see why you would lie about it considering the rumors' brewing in the Cadets barracks tonight. That and might I mention the encounter I witnessed between you and Greyson just a few days ago. There was nothing professional about that!”
“Look, Sir” The Lt. Colonel spat, making his way around his desk to make himself look bigger, “Frankly it's none of your damn business which cadets I chose to associate with or not. Greyson can make up her own mind about what and WHO, she wants. And let's face it, they graduate in a little over a week now. The cadets are fair game to the rest of the corps now” The borderline insubordination coupled with the hungry grin cemented exactly what the Lt. Colonel was trying to obtain. The realization had Colonel Carrillo’s stomach turning at the thought. If he was this open and honest about his intentions then HIS cadet was in a very rocky situation.
Clearing his throat and taking a rather large step toward the lower ranked officer before him, the Colonel fought off the need to punch the smug man in the face. But there was no point in doing that, lest he chase off the Cadet from his team, he still was unsure of her exact feelings for the man currently before him. He tilted his head back to stare down his nose at the perverse man before him.  Crowding just ever so close to the man to make him uncomfortable.
“I suggest you stay the fuck away from that recruit, Lieutenant. She is part of MY  team which now makes her, MY  responsibility and henceforth, MY cadet. Keep your filthy hands off her or I'll have you charged for unwanted advances, then it will be goodbye senior rank and back to junior officer you go. Understood?” The Colonel declared, fully expecting the man before him to back down, except defeat and allow him to carry on with his evening. The exact opposite occurred.
“I think there is something you just don’t quite get, Sir” the Lt. Colonel scoffed, “That girl out there, that stupid young cadet, will believe anything that is fed to her. How do you think I got her wrapped around my finger in the first place” He laughed off the end of his sentence, pushing at the Colonels’ shoulders in order to get past him to sit back down behind his desk.  “As far as I'm concerned, you don’t have a single claim on that cadet until she accepts your proposal to join your team..” he trailed off before delivering the most sarcastic “SIR!” he could muster. Shoulder shaking as he chuckled away to himself.
                                                        -------
Greyson had pushed herself to the point of over exertion. Working out at a hundred percent capacity would do that to a person, even if she was used to endurance training. Combining the work out with her mental and previous physical exertion had been enough for her to drop to the mats after a solid hour of hammering the training bag. Her knuckles of her left hand were thoroughly bruised but the knuckles of her right hand were a bit more worse for wear. A deep gash had formed over the knuckle of her index finger, the bloody pouring steadily from the gash, the rest of her knuckles on that hand were marked with much smaller gashes, a minimal amount of blood coming from the cuts. It looked like she’d killed someone.
Cradling her hand to her chest she made her way to the bathroom adjacent to the gym. She turned the tap on, waiting for the water to run clear before thrusting her hands under it to clean off the blood, barely flinching at the sting that came from cleaning out the gash. The sink turned a faded crimson from the amount of blood being washed from her hands. She felt numb, unbearingly so, it seemed the week had finally caught up with her, she felt as though she could curl up in a ball right now  and wake up a week later. So lost in her own thoughts and mesmerized by the blood flowing from her hands and into the sink, she failed to notice the presence behind her until it was too late.  One minute the cadet is watching her blood flow down the sink, the next her vision is fading to black.
                                                      -------
Carrillo was fuming, muscles taught, hands curled tight  and ready to release upon the man before him. His jaw was clenched so tight he could hear his teeth grinding together. He took a step towards the man with the full intent of knocking his flat onto the floor, black out cold. And he would have too, if it wasn’t for the frantic knocking followed closely by Cadet Calliope all but throwing himself into the room.
“Sir, come quick, it's Greyson” Calliope exclaimed. There was a frantic tone in his voice that snapped both men out of their grudge match.
Carrillo spun to give the young man his full attention, before nodding at the recruit, “Lead the way Cadet” . They followed the cadet through the twists and turns of the hallways leading towards the medics bay. Upon seeing both officers the nurses rushed them through to her room. And there, laying almost deathly still, was Cadet Greyson. Gash above her eyebrow being stitched together as Carrillo watched on from the door. She looked nothing like the strong cadet he had seen perform all week. She looked fragile, too fragile. Not wanting to watch any further he pushed past Sinclair who was standing directly behind him, mouth agape, hands shaking and look like he might collapse himself.
Carrillo grabbed Calliope by the arm, pulling him down the hallway and into a spare room. He rounded on the cadet, finger pointed and eyes ablaze, as he hissed,  “Explain to me exactly what you know Cadet, and don’t you dare leave anything out”
Cadet Calliope gulped, mouth suddenly dry. Well here goes nothing,  he thought

All I Want | Ilya Feddy
(A/N: I have to repost this cuz idk what happened but literally the entire writing just disappeared after I posted. good thing i write everything on google before i transfer it all to tumblr. i love being smart sometimes. anywaysss this is kinda based off the song All I Want by Olivia Rodrigo. its a a cute song and kinda hits home so why not use it as inspo!)
It’s been about a year and a half since you moved to L.A. to be with Natalie and David. You were truly living your best life. Kind of.
Working for David was insane. Every day was different, you had some of the best friends you could ask for, your boyfriend was perfect...on paper.
He did nice things for you. Like open doors, send you bouquets of flowers to your place, he even drops everything when you’re going through one of your days.
But he was lying to your face almost every weekend.
It was hard keeping a big secret when more than half the time it eats you alive and you can’t tell anyone about it. You knew if you did everything would turn to shit and you would be alone again.
You started thinking back to Chicago. Everything there was perfect, too. But all good things had to end.
Like your relationship with Ilya. He was perfect on paper and on screen. You knew nobody would compare to him but your love didn’t last. It was hard fighting for love that wasn’t being met halfway.
Your thoughts were interrupted with David telling you the news.
“I bought Ilya and Alex plane tickets to stay for the weekend,” He said causing Natalie to squeal from happiness as she missed her best friends.
You faked a smile, trying to convince everyone around you that you were happy with this. You were more excited to see Alex than Ilya. Sure Ilya’s been to L.A. countless times to visit, but you found yourself “busy” whenever he was he, clearly avoiding him.
“I’m gonna go pick them up in like an hour. If you could get the house cleaned a little that would be great,” David said as he retreated back to his room, probably to finish editing.
You could feel Natalie’s eyes burning holes into you. “What, Natalie?” You said, letting out a sigh as you dropped down on the couch.
Mimicking your actions, Natalie sat next to you, nudging your side. “So. Ilya. You gonna be okay with this?”
You shrugged your shoulders, not knowing yourself if you were going to be okay. “Yeah, we’re on good terms. I’ll probably be out with Nick anyways,” Your fingers tugged at the hem of your shirt, trying not to let your lies consume you.
“Oh come on. You and I both know that’s a lie. David’s too dumb to realize it but I see right through you,” Natalie replied, giving you a look.
Your mind was racing. She knows. How does she know? Fuck.
“What’s a lie?” You asked, playing dumb and hoping she wouldn’t say what you worked so well on covering up.
“That you and Ilya are on good terms. And you’re definitely not going to be okay.”
You let out a breath that you didn’t realize you were holding in. “I’ll be fine, I swear,” you said before getting up to clean the house.
Natalie let out a groan not happy that you weren’t opening up to her.
The hour came and went as you watched David rush around his place, trying to find his keys and wallet before finally leaving to pick up his friends.
Quickly cleaning the rest of the rooms, you took a quick shower, not wanting to look so gross in front of your friends. Even though they’ve seen you in worse conditions. You were hoping that once you were done getting ready, you would still have time to sneak out before David got back. But with your luck, as soon as you stepped out of the bathroom the front door opens and loud voices boom through the house.
“I’m so happy you’re here!” You hear Natalie yell as you round the corner to see her hugging Ilya.
“(Y/n)! What’s up!” Alex yells as he makes his way to you, pulling you into a hug. You haven’t seen him since you moved and his arms made you feel like you were back home.
He let you go just in time for your eyes to fall onto Ilya, who was already looking at you.
You didn’t know what to do, so you smiled softly at him before he made the move to hug you.
You relaxed under his touch as you nuzzled your face into his neck.
Now this is home.
“How are you?” He asks as he pulled away.
“Good...great, actually,” You said, barely believing your own words, “How are you? How’s Chicago?”
Ilya ran his hand through his hair before going back to where everyone else was standing. “I’m good, Chicago’s okay. It’s kinda boring without you guys though.”
You all make your way to the living room to finish talking.
“Well it’s a good thing everyone’s coming over later. It will definitely be everything but boring,” David laughed and shook his head. He knew by the end of the night, this place would be trashed again.
You got up from the couch getting ready to leave when you were stopped.
“Where are you going?” Ilya asked, his eyes not leaving yours, “We just got here,”
You tried breaking eye contact but his stare was holding yours hostage, “I, uh. I forgot I had plans with Nick later. We’ll be back later if we have time.” You said, finally breaking free from his stare.
You quickly said your goodbyes and left before anyone else could say anything. As you sat in your car, trying to control your feelings, you heard a knock on your window. Almost jumping out of your seat, you roll it down to be face to face with David.
“Everything okay?” He asked, “I know it’s probably weird with Ilya and everything but I figured you would be over it by now.”
You were taken aback by his choice of words. He of all people should know what it’s like to deal with a breakup but still having to be around them.
“Shit, no. Sorry. I meant that I thought you would be over him. Y’know with like Nick being in your life and everything.” David tried to explain himself.
You shook your head, letting it go, “It’s fine. I’m fine, really. I actually have to go though,” You say before putting your car in reverse.
David backs away, letting you leave, “Fine but promise you’ll stop by later. I know Alex and Ilya miss being around you.”
You open your mouth but close it, repeating this a couple times before finding your words. “I don’t know, Dave. I’ll try.”
You waved goodbye before pulling away from his house. On the drive home you couldn’t help but think of Ilya. You missed him. As your best friend. As your boyfriend. Life was better with him in it and you wished things worked out between you guys.
When you got to your house, you saw that your boyfriend’s car was in the driveway, immediately feeling guilty about thinking of another guy that wasn’t him.
Just as you were getting out of your car, you see him coming out the door with a suitcase in hand.
“Hi baby, I’m sorry. I have a work thing this weekend. It’s last minute and I have to leave now or I’ll miss my flight,” your boyfriend says, only stopping for a second to kiss you.
“I thought we had plans?” You said, trying to hold back tears.
Not even turning around, Nick shouts over his shoulder, “I know I’ll make it up to you when I come back. I promise.” He puts his luggage in his trunk and gets in his car. Just as you think he’s about to leave, he gets out and runs up to you. He grabs your cheeks and pulls your face to his, kissing you more passionately than he ever has.
“I love you, I wish I could stay for the weekend,” He says as he pulls away, pecking your lips once more before officially leaving.
You let out a quiet groan as you walked inside your home, letting the tears fall the second the door closed behind you.
You fell to the ground as the emotions you’ve been feeling for the past forever came out at once and you couldn’t hold anything back. Tear after tear, sob after sob, you let it all out. Not caring if your neighbors could hear your frustrated screams coming from your home.
When you finally decided you’ve had enough crying for the day, you picked yourself up and changed into more comfortable clothing. You spent the rest of your day on your couch, catching up on all the shows and movies you haven’t seen in a while.
You didn’t realize you fell asleep until you were awakened by your phone going off, almost for a minute straight. Coming out of your sleepy haze and looked around for your phone soon to realize it was in your purse across the room. You let out a sigh of relief when it stopped ringing, concluding you didn’t have to get up anymore.
Another 10 or so minutes before you heard your phone ringing again. You grabbed it out of your purse and retreated back to your spot on the couch. Looking at the home screen, you saw you had 3 missed calls from David, 1 from Ilya and countless messages from a group chat you were put in with everyone from Vernon Hills. Most of the messages were about going to David’s for a party. Something you certainly didn’t want to do tonight.
You opened Ilya’s message last, wondering why he was texting you.
When are you coming over? Wanted to catch up
You left him on read along with everyone else. The last thing you wanted to do was be around people, let alone drunk people and your ex...who you still had strong feelings for.
Another hour went by with your phone being silent for once. Just as you were finding yourself drifting back to sleep, you heard a couple knocks at your door. Putting your TV on mute so whoever was there didn’t hear you were home, you quietly sat and waited for them to leave.
They knocked again, this time a little louder. “(Y/n). Open the door, I know you’re home,” you heard David’s voice behind the barrier, “I’m alone. Please let me in.”
You let out a huff and let him in, quickly closing the door behind him. Instead of greeting him, you went back to where you spent the last 4 hours.
“So what’s up?” David asks, sitting across from you on the couch.
You kept your gaze forward while you shrugged your shoulders. “Shouldn’t you be at your house to maybe supervise your party?” you ask, genuinely curious as to why he left his very expensive house in the hands of drunk people.
“First of all, Natalie is keeping an eye on it. Second of all, don’t change the subject,” David said sharply, making you flinch slightly from the anger that laced his words. “We’ve been friends for how many years? And you’re seriously going to sit there and not talk to me? Cmon (y/n).”
You could feel the tears building up again as you started to think about everything that was going wrong. Quickly covering your face, you let the tears fall. David pulled you into his side to comfort you, not caring if his shirt gets drenched.
“All I want is love that lasts, Dave. But apparently that’s too much to ask for,” You say in between sobs. “Is there something wrong with me?”
“Hey, what? No no no, (y/n) you’re incredible. Did something happen with Nick?” David asks, moving the stray hairs that stuck to your face.
You couldn’t help but roll your eyes. Everything happened with Nick. Running your hands through your hair, you tried to think of words to fit your sentences. But every time you opened your mouth, you were on the verge of crying even harder.
“I know he goes out and cheats almost every weekend,” You finally say, barely audible. Fiddling with the blanket on your lap, you didn’t dare look at David. You could already feel his judgemental stare burning holes into your head.
“Is that a joke? (Y/n) why the fuck do you stay with him if he’s going out and doing shit like that?” David hisses, more mad at the situation than he is at you.
“I don’t know, David, okay! I don’t fucking know why I stay. Maybe because he’s the only guy that’s ever met my expectations and didn’t leave when things got rough!” Your voice boomed through the room. As you glanced at David, you could see his entire body soften, knowing who you were talking about.
He let out a sigh as he played with his hair, for once not knowing what to say. You two sat in silence for a couple minutes before he finally said something, “He didn’t leave because things got rough, (y/n). He left because he was scared. And he didn’t want to make things worse for you,” David says, playing with the ends of his hair.
When you were with Ilya, almost a year into the relationship you started to figure out he had an alcohol addiction. But when you confronted him about it, he froze up and wouldn’t talk to you for weeks. If he did, it was short answers and always bailed on plans.
“I don’t get why he couldn’t just tell me what was going on. We were best friends and now we’re just...nothing.” You said, looking at David for answers.
“I don’t know why he does anything but I promise you he never had any intentions on hurting you and I know that doesn’t help anything. But I know Ilya, he never wanted to end things with you. He loves you, (y/n), he just didn’t know what to do.” David ruffled his hair, slightly messing it up.
Sitting in silence once again, you moved over to David’s side, cuddling into him. “I miss the good old days. When we were all together every day. We were so young and naive, yknow?” You said, reminiscing on your childhood. “I always thought the perfect guy would come and find me. But I guess happily ever after doesn’t really come so easily,” You let out a little chuckle, realizing how different everything is now compared to how you thought it would turn out.
“It definitely doesn’t, but that’s the good thing about life. You find someone new who shows you what you want and what you don’t want. What you need and what you don’t need. And I can tell you right now, what you don’t need is Nick. You don’t need someone who can easily go out and cheat on you every weekend, not caring that you’re home by yourself most of the time.” David traced circles on your arms, keeping you calm through this whole situation.
“I think I want to talk to Ilya. Like tonight. I need to do something before he leaves and I know if I don’t do it soon, I probably never will.” You said, moving away from David’s grasp and standing up. You could see the confusion in his face but he still had a small smile playing on his lips.
The drive to David’s was nerve racking. You tried to think of words that made sense but all you could come up with was nonsense. You felt your palms become clammy as his house came into view. The music could be heard miles away. As David pulls into his driveway, he looks over to you and asks, “You ready?”
You nod your head once before getting out. You felt a sudden wave of confidence crash over you as you stepped through the door, your eyes immediately landing on Ilya. Heat ran through your body as you saw how happy he looked, something you haven’t seen in what felt like an eternity. You heard everyone yell your name, happy to see you, but all you were focused on was him.
Slowly losing your confidence with every step, you made your way to Ilya who started to meet you halfway. “Hey,” you said when you were finally face to face.
“Hey,” Ilya replied, shoving his hands in his pockets. “You came in here pretty fierce,” he said, laughing at his words.
You couldn’t help but smile, “Can we talk, please?” You asked, motioning your head towards David’s room. You watched Ilya nod his head and followed him into the room, locking the door behind you.
Keeping your eyes straight, you sat next to Ilya on the bed. The two of you sat in silence for a bit as you didn’t know what to say.
“So…” Ilya says, breaking the silence. You could hear him smiling.
“Nick’s been cheating on me almost every weekend. Probably since we’ve started dating.” You blurted out, not really sure why you were telling him this. “He thinks I don’t know because he keeps telling me it’s for work. But I’ve seen proof. And nobody goes on that many business trips.” You were expecting tears to prick your eyes but you only got more annoyed.
“(Y/n), I’m sorry. You don’t deserve that. Have you talked to him about it?”
You shake your head. You weren’t sure why you never confronted him about it. Maybe because you didn’t want to lose the sense of security you were so used to. “I guess I knew that if I asked him about it I would’ve lost someone again. And I don’t think I could have handled that.” You admitted.
You looked over at Ilya, seeing his eyes soften with guilt. He opened his mouth to talk, but you quickly cut him off. “That’s not what I wanted to talk to you about. This entire day I kept thinking about you and us and everything that happened. I wish you would have stayed. I wish we could have worked out. I don’t think you realize you were the best thing that happened to me.” You paused for a second, letting Ilya take in what you just said.
“You need to understand that I never meant to hurt you like that,” Ilya responded, grabbing your hand, “I just got defensive and I didn’t know what else to do, (Y/n).”
You turned your body to face Ilya. He looked broke and hurt but also happy. “I guess what I wanted to tell you is that I still love you and I know I shouldn’t because of Nick but fuck him. You are what I need. You were always what I needed. I want to make this work. I miss you, all the time.”
You waited for Ilya to say something. After a few seconds you were worried that maybe he didn’t feel the same anymore and you crossed the line. But everything happened so quick, next thing you know Ilya’s hands are cupping your cheeks and pulling you into him for a kiss.
Your body relaxed into his as you smiled into the kiss. Ilya pulled away too soon for your liking, “I guess maybe you should end things with Nick.” You couldn’t help but groan at the thought of him. Pulling out your phone, you texted your now ex-boyfriend telling him everything. That the relationship was over and you knew he was cheating. You told him there would be a box of his things at his door tomorrow.
You tossed your phone behind you and tackled Ilya down to the bed, immediately kissing him again.

Leo never felt quite alright when Marcus embraced him. That said, he never felt alright around Marcus at all. But, today felt different. He tried to not stress himself out too much, there’s no way he knows, he thought, and held his breath as Marcus hugged him harder, maybe putting a bit too much strength into is arms.
“Oh, love”, he said into Leo’s ear, his tone happy. And then, a deep sigh into his neck. It was like the atmosphere in the room had gotten heavier. “Oh, love”, he said again, his voice a bit colder. “I know what you did”.
The words fell like rocks onto Leo, whose body was now frozen by Marcus’ lethal expression. A slap brought him to the soft carpet, where he sat on his legs, looking up at the larger man with a shocked, terrified expression. He was simply covering his cheek with his hand, not having the mental strength to make any other action, now.
Marcus knelt down by him and Leo tried to crawl backwards, but Marcus grabbed his ankle. “Don’t move”. Two very simple words. Leo nodded. “Now, do you want to tell me what you did, or would you rather play dumb and get more hurt than you’re already going to be?”
Leo opened his mouth to talk, and he tried to, he really did, but his voice refused to come out, and the more time that passed, the more Marcus’ grip in his ankle tightened. By now it was sure to leave a bruise. “Well?” his black eyes glimmered and Leo gulped in a frantic attempt to calm himself.
“I… I, I…” his breath kept getting caught in his throat and tears were forming in his eyes.
“Say it”, Marcus growled and got on his feet. He stepped on Leo’s stomach before he had a chance to move away.
Leo coughed and whimpered, but opened his mouth again: “I tried… to leave-”
His breath was cut off from the force of Marcus’ step that fell down on his stomach like a brick. He cringed and coughed and doubled up on himself soon as the other man’s foot was off him. “I’m sorry”, he managed to whisper, and soon he was raised to his feet by the collar of his shirt.
“Sorry won’t cut it this time, Leo. I give you this much freedom, this much love, this is how you repay me?” He threw him back down and turned his back at him. “Move an inch while I’m gone and I’ll kill you”. His voice was dry and cold -most likely a very real threat.
So Leo stayed. He stayed on his knees, barely breathing, crying silently. He didn’t want to think about what would happen if he made any kind of noise. Marcus returned with handcuffs and rope, and Leo’s breath caught in his throat when he saw him taking off his belt.
Guiding him by the back of his neck, Marcus led Leo to the bed, where he pushed him down to lie on his chest. He cut his shirt open with the box cutter he’d always carry in his pocket. Slicing it open, he made a shallow wound down his spine. Leo winced. “Oops, an accident”, he commented, his voice as black as his hair. He tied his arms and legs to each of the four bed posts, cuffing them for further security.
Leo felt sick. He was completely defenseless, completely vulnerable. Marcus could do anything to him like that. Even things that would hurt him more than just physically. His mind flashed to the belt. Marcus could hit him with it or continue taking his clothes off, and he prayed it would be the former. He clenched his fists; it was the only sign of defiance he could make.
Soon, he felt the first hit. It was unexpected, and he sucked in a deep breath before growling in pain. But it was better than the alternative, so he kept quiet. He greeted his teeth and braced for the next hits, tried to keep count to take his mind off the pain but soon it was unbearable, he lost count he’d scream and wince after every whip, his skin felt alien on his back, too bare, too opened, too raw. When his back was too much of a wreck, Marcus moved to his arms, and when his own blood splattered on his face, Leo buried it in the sheets.
This was so wrong, so unfair. He wasn’t in the wrong here, Marcus was. Marcus had kidnapped him; he wasn’t wrong to try to escape. He wasn’t wrong to seek his freedom. His mother could only try so much to find him, he knew her efforts would be fruitless; she didn’t know where or with who he was.  Leaving that place was solely up to him, and he’d swore to himself that he wouldn’t stop trying. Yesterday was the first time he’d tried and now, he wasn’t sure he wanted to repeat it.
Marcus had left the house, and it was the first time he hadn’t called his sister to watch over Leo. He’d warned him, though: “Make one wrong move and I’ll know”. Leo took the warning lightly and once he was sure Marcus was away, he sneaked off his room and went to the kitchen, pretending he was getting something to eat, checking if he was alone in the house. And he was. So he took one of the kitchen knives and moved to the front door. As expected, it was locked. He used the sharp end of the knife to try to unlock it, but before he could even make a small amount of progress, the end of the knife bended.
“Oh, no, no”, he’d murmured. He’s definitely going to notice this, he’ll definitely notice this, he thought, his knees suddenly trembling. He tried to straighten it with his finger, a stupid move, he noted to himself later, seeing that he’d successfully cut himself. “Now how the hell am I going to hide that, fuck”, he whispered to himself and walked back to the kitchen, but there wasn’t another knife with a sharp end like that. He had one chance, and he’d screwed it up. The windows all had metal railing around them, so that was a no-go as well. Hastily, he wrapped his fingers up in a paper towel and cleaned the floor off the droplets of his blood. The sun had started going down now, which meant it had been about an hour since Marcus had left. He’ll be back soon, he’s never gone for more, he’d thought, panic rushing through his blood, from his legs to his mind. Ultimately, he decided it would be best to take the knife upstairs and hide it. He slid it under the bed and just then, he heard the alarm going off, which meant Marcus was back.
Leo threw the bloodied paper towel into the toilet’s bin, covering it with other paper. Luckily, his fingers weren’t bleeding anymore. Leo had “been good”, as Marcus was saying, so he was allowed on the bed and around the house. He lay on the soft mattress with the blue, floral sheet and matching mattress and covered himself up till his eyes. That’s what Marcus saw when he climbed up to his captive’s room. “You’re sleeping so soundly”, Leo had heard him say, and a chill had run down his spine. Marcus left the room right after that and the missing knife was never brought up, even though Marcus had cooked dinner.
So, Leo thought he’d gotten away with it. God, how wrong he was.
By the time Marcus had finished belting his arms as well, Leo was swinging in and out of consciousness. Some hits had gotten to his face and head as well, together with his arms. Slashes decorated his cheeks and ears and the back of his head had blood stains, mixing with the blue dye of his hair.
“You can hear me, can’t you?” Marcus whispered by his ear.
Leo nodded, and it was more of an instinct. He didn’t want to give him any answer, he just wanted to float off somewhere, but his consciousness was being too stubborn.
“Good. You’re going to get yourself up and from today on you’ll be chained to the wall again”. His voice was stiff and threatening, as if one wrong move could detonate another explosion. Marcus was a person who could go from sweet to sour in a matter of seconds, Leo knew that all too well by now.
Marcus ducked, looked under the bed, hummed, stretched his arm to grab something and got back up. “So, this is where that was, I guessed so. You kept looking towards the bed last night”. He used the knife to cut the ropes and unlocked the cuffs. “Get up, baby. Let me see your pretty face”.
Leo forced himself up, his arms too weak, too pained to hold him, yet he managed to sit up with a grunt, looking at nothing in particular, with a dazed look. Marcus took Leo’s cheek and moved his face upwards, so they could see each other eye to eye. “Do I want to ruin this lovely face of yours?” he asked himself, and Leo felt his body going cold again. Marcus brought the knife with the tilted head near Leo’s eye and he stopped his breathing, bracing for the worst as the blade was getting closer and closer to his skin.
Marcus’ smile dropped and so did his eyes. He dropped the knife down. “This is worthless now that it’s broken, Leo. I can’t carve anything or cut anything with it without the sharp end. You’ll be just as useless if your pretty face is ruined”. He traced his fingers through Leo’s soft skin. “You’re so beautiful, love. If only you were obedient, too”, he said, squeezing one of his welts with his finger. He took on a satisfied look as Leo winced. “I can do anything I want with the rest of your body but don’t worry, I’ll never touch your pretty face”.
Marcus moved aside and stretched his arm towards the wall. “Now, go on. Walk up to the wall and I’ll chain you. Remember, you caused this, babe.”
Leo almost cried out when his arms were raised to be locked in place by the cuffs.
“Yes, this is much safer. I think I’ll just leave you like this”, Marcus leaned in for a kiss, but settled with a peck on Leo’s cheek, when he saw the younger man wasn’t responding. “see you at lunch, then, babe. Or, not!” he tutted, closing the door behind him.
Leo was left back, his heart sunken along with his spirit.

Happy Birthday? (p.p)
Tumblr media
(the gif has nothing to do with the fic, I was just too lazy to make a moodboard 😂)
Word count: 2,284
Warnings: tiny bit of angst, hella fluff
A/N: This is my submission for @farfromhaz and @angelhaz11's writing challenge! Go send them some love! Anyways, here's writing number two of the night! I really hope you guys like it! Definitely feel free to send any and all feedback, it would make my spooky day even happier 🧡 (I'm technically late but it's still Halloween somewhere so shhhh it's okay)
Sharing your birthday with your favorite holiday, even if it was Halloween, wasn't always as fun as everyone would assume.
Believe it or not, people actually forgot your birthday. You couldn't fully blamed them, Halloween was amazing. What could compare to the candies, scary movies, and fun costumes? Definitely not your measly little birthday parties, especially as you grew older and everyone was trading in trick or treating for Halloween parties that went on for hours into the night.
But you couldn't lie and say it didn't hurt your feelings growing up when you walked into your classroom expecting just one "Happy birthday" and instead getting, "Happy Halloween!" followed by a "Oh, it's your birthday isn't it?"
It hurt your little child heart so much, you decided at the age of 9 to stop telling people your birthday and pretended it already passed whenever someone asked. It was dumb looking back on it now that you were an adult, but back then it seemed like the only reasonable solution.
The only person at school who knew your birthday was your best friend and crush of many years, Peter Parker. You didn't tell him purposely, he stumbled into your apartment window one night in high school, bleeding and in a daze, and you were getting ready for a birthday dinner.
"You look really nice, can I ask where you're going?" He voice was raspy as you cleaned the cuts on his face.
"You don't get to ask questions when you've been hiding the fact that you're freaking Spider-Man."
He decided to keep quiet for a while, not wanting to push you. You waited until he looked less like death to say something.
"It's my birthday," you mumbled, not meeting his eyes.
"It's your birthday? And you didn't tell me? I'm your best friend!"
"Don't start with me Spider-Boy," you glared at him for moment before softly adding, "I haven't told anyone in years."
"Why?"
"Everyone would forget, so I figured no one can forget if they don't know, saves me from being stressed."
"Well, now that I know, I'm never going to forget."
You rolled your eyes, "Don't make promises you can't keep, Parker."
He kept his promise, making a big deal of your birthday every year. One year he snuck you out of your apartment at night and swung you around the city, showing you places you hadn't known existed.
Another year, he brought you to a halloween party at the Stark tower. You never thought you'd see Captain America wish you a happy birthday personally, but it was one of the greatest experiences of your life.
It honestly didn't matter what he did, the fact that he cared and bothered to remember is what made it truly special. You were sure as long as Peter was in your life, you'd always have a special birthday.
Well, maybe not this year. So far today was the worst birthday of your life.
You woke up very late, apparently forgetting to set your alarm the night before. You rushed to throw on clothes and get as decently presentable as you could rushing to make it to your midterm.
“If you’re late, don’t bother showing up,” you could hear your professor’s shrill voice as you practically sprinted to your car.
You drove to class like you were in one of the fast and the furious movies, definitely breaking at least one law in the process. Luckily for you, the roads seemed to be empty, one gift from the universe. You knew if Peter weren’t already in class, he’d probably be with you right now, chastising you for your horrible driving,
‘I could really use Peter right now, swinging to school would be much faster.’
It was then that you realized Peter hadn't sent you his usual good morning happy birthday text he always sent, in fact you hadn't heard from him at all since you threw your into studying yesterday. You stomach clenched with worry for a second before you quickly pushed it aside, remembering you had to run to class.
You made it to your statistics class with minutes to spare, barely. You would’ve felt relieved, except the second you sat down to pull out your materials, you came to the realization you left the cheat sheet your professor allowed you to bring in your folder, laying on the exact spot you put it before passing out last night.
‘Fuck,’ you wanted cry. That dumb piece of paper was your key to passing this test and it was at home. You obviously had no choice but to take the test, so you told convinced yourself the studying you did last night would be enough, trying your best to think positively.
You didn't fail, but you definitely didn't get the grade you wanted. After more than an hour of answering questions, working them out on your scrap paper, you ended it with a 72. You beat yourself up about it the whole way home. The only thing you were looking forward to was seeing Peter and your lovely roommate Casey, and the delicious chocolate chip cookies she made just for you.
You couldn't help smiling as you heard Peter laughing from down the hall. You often came home to Peter already there, a perk that came with giving him a key, making food or literally hanging from the ceiling while studying.
"At least he always keeps me on my toes," you mumbled under your breath, wondering how you'd find him this time as you unlocked your door.
Much to your surprise, he was just sitting on the couch, Mean Girls playing in the background as he played what looked like some sort of star wars game on his phone.
“Hey, Pete!” you called out, closing the door behind you.
“Hey,” he barely looked at you, too into his game.
Taking a seat beside him, you sighed dramatically, laying your head on his shoulder while you waited for him to pay attention to you. That didn't happen for another 15 minutes and you wondered how he could be so into a game that he couldn't even play on one of the many game consoles Mr. Stark has bought him over the years.
"So," he said after finally putting his phone down, "What's the plan for today?"
"Oh, um, I thought maybe we'd swing through the city and go to our little spot?"
"I was thinking we'd do something different?"
"Like what?" You were suddenly filled with excitement, knowing Peter always came up with the best plans.
"You know that cute girl from down the hall? She invited me to one of the sorority parties and I thought we'd go together."
"You and the girl from down the hall?"
"No, silly," he nudged you gently, "You and me."
The excitement started to slowly fade away as you realized he was being serious, he wanted to go to a Halloween party, he probably wanted to meet up with the cute girl, he forgot your birthday.
"Um, sure! Sounds good." You gave him your best fake smile, trying not to cry on the spot.
He didn't seem to notice, going on about the exam he took a couple of hours ago. You nodded at the appropriate timing, making it seem like you were fully invested, and you wanted to me, but you were so hurt you could barely focus.
Eventually, Peter got up to leave and you hated to even think it, but you were relieved. Until you heard his goodbyes.
"I'll see you in a bit, okay?"
"Yeah," you said quickly, practically pushing him out the door.
"Oh, and tell Casey her cookies were delicious."
"What cookies?"
"Her famous chocolate chip ones."
You sighed, "Did you at least save me one?"
You knew his answer from the look on his face, the immediately blush coloring his cheeks and the way his eyes wouldn't meet yours.
"I'm sorry! I forgot! She can make more, right?"
'That isn't the only thing you forgot, Peter.'
Now you weren't sure if you wanted to cry or lunge at him, but Peter was out the door and down the hall before you could do either.
Closing the door behind you, you decided to settle for the former, tears spilling down your cheeks instantly. A part of you hoped Peter was just messing around and would knock on your door any second now, telling you it was all a joke and he would never forget your birthday.
But as more and more time passed, you knew he genuinely forgot.
You tried giving him the benefit of the doubt, tried giving him a chance to realize his mistake. Hours later, when he came to pick you up, it didn't seem like that was going to happen either.
He greeted you at the door like nothing, "Do you like my costume?"
Even upset with him, you couldn't help laughing as he twirled in his Spider-Man suit. "Again, Peter?"
"What? You can't go wrong dressing up like Spider-Man!"
You agreed with him, though you still hoped he was only joking about the party.
He wasn't, he swung the two of you a block away from the sorority house. You could practically smell the booze from there.
'He really brought me to a party.'
You tried making the best out of it, flirting with cute guys and girls, but it wasn't much fun considering most of them were so drunk, they could barely speak properly. And you knew regardless of how much you flirted, there was only one guy you were actually interested in.
So, after an hour and half of torture, you found yourself outside, playing games on your phone while you waited for Peter on the steps.
He came out not long after, sitting beside you, "Are you having fun?"
You barely looked at him, "No, not really."
"Y/n?" He put his arm around your shoulder, "What's wrong?"
"Everything? From the second I woke up this day has been so shitty, I left my notes and tanked my test, you ate the last cookie, which was mine, by the way," you took a moment to pull away and glare at him.
"Then you brought me here, and what hurts the most is my best friend forgot my birthday," you voiced cracked as you finished your sentence, betraying the cool composure you were trying to keep.
Peter opened his mouth to say something, but you honestly didn't want to hear an explaination, you just wanted to go home and leave this day behind you, "It's okay, just take me back to my place?"
He didn't object, looking around for any witnesses before throwing on his mask, picking you up and swinging away.
You didn't open your eyes on the way home, you instead pretended it was a normal night filled with fun and dumb you and Peter things.
'Like it should've been.'
When Peter finally set you down, you were not on the fire escape by your bedroom window. You were on the roof of your building, twinkle lights and candles everywhere. There were tables full of your favorite food, and one had the most beautiful birthday cake you had ever seen.
Peter pulled off his mask, "Did you really think I would forget?"
"I-" you were speechless, he was messing with you.
"It's not over yet," he smiled, "You can come out now."
Instantly, all of your friends and family popped out from underneath the tables, yelling out "Surprise!"
You were immediately flooded by your loved ones, everyone wishing you happy birthday and showering you with love. You were overwhelmed with happiness, tears of joy falling down your cheeks for the first time that night. You couldn't believe Peter did all of this for you, and managed to trick you.
You let yourself have actual fun. It was much easier considering everyone was coherent, plus you were once again blessed by the presence of the avengers. It was hard not to have fun when Thor and Tony were around.
Later on, you snuck away, finding Peter and pulling him to the side. You smacked his arm the second you were alone.
"You ass! I can't believe you did this!"
"I couldn't let this be a boring birthday!"
You rolled your eyes, "You couldn't at least tell me happy birthday?"
He looked away, rubbing the back of his neck, "I wanted to pull a sixteen candles moment."
"And what was that with the party?"
"You had to be distracted while Casey baked your cake."
You shook your head, "You really thought of everything, huh? It's perfect, Peter. Thank you."
"I, um, actually have one more thing for you."
"No gifts! This was already amazing."
"Well," he blushed, looking down at his feet, "It's more of a question."
"Okay..."
"Would you maybe want to go out on a date?" He asked so quickly, you almost didn't catch the question.
'Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit,' was all that ran through your head.
"Or not! That's okay too, it's just Mr. Stark told me you liked me and I should make a move because I've liked you for years," Peter rambled.
Your heart literally melted at his words. He's liked you for years? And you didn't know? How stupid could the two of you be?
"Peter," you took his hand in yours, "I would love to go on a date with you."
"You would?"
"Absolutely," this time you looked away shyly, "I've liked you for a while too."
He smiled brightly, letting out a little sigh of relief.
It was right then you knew nothing would be able to top this, it was truly the best birthday ever.

Angst 5 and/or 10 I’m craving some angst
“I can't believe you did this, how could you?” / “This, us, was a fucking mistake and I should have known the second things went further than planned.”
A/N: I love me some good, old-fashioned angsts. Diana fueled angsts are my bread and butter so I thought I would try my hand at it. Again. So set around ‘Two Sons.’ I suck at smut so sorry if it sounds dumb :( And I apologize for it sound rushed. No beta. I just wanted to get this idea out while it was in my head. @today-in-fic @suitablyaggrieved @improlificinsarcasm @baronessblixen
On the bottom of the world in winter sunlight, Mulder gambled and won the thousand to one odds. He had found Scully in the maze of an alien ship, given her the vaccine, and somehow, they still escaped with their lives. Except, when they arrived back in D.C., they still didn’t have their old office back. The events in Dallas resulted in them being relegated to the bullpen where they were stuck doing background checks.
Mulder was certain, that despite the dire situation, Scully would have been transferred to Quantico either by the higher-ups or of her own accord. But each day he dragged himself to the office, she was sitting right behind him in the bullpen performing endless background checks. And things remained glacial between them; cold and frigid and unlikely to change anytime soon.
But he sensed it; they both did. They wanted to change. Whatever was left unspoken in the hallway of his Alexandria apartment before that blasted bee ruined everything hung in the air between them. You don’t go around professing that the person is their one and five billion without meaning it. But the tension between was palpable.
This Monday was no different.
Scully was already at her desk that morning when Mulder came in. He smiled and offered her a paper bag proudly. “What is that?” She arched her eyebrow. “A peace offering?”
“Breakfast. I stopped by the bakery you like so much in Old Town and picked it up on my way in.”
She took it cautiously. “What do you want?”
“What makes you say that?”
“No catch.”
She took the offered pastry wearily. “Thank you, Mulder.”
“I actually wanted to see if you wanted to come over tonight,” he said slowly.
“Why?”
Mulder sat in his chair and choose his next words carefully. “No reason. Maybe watch a movie, enjoy a six-pack of Shiner Bock…discuss what I told you in the hallway.” He looked down at his hands. “I want there to be an us,” he finished.
“Mulder, not here,” she whispered sharply. She averted her gaze to focus on her computer.
“Scully, come on. We both can’t dance around what happened.”
Mulder watched her body language as she sighed and barely nodded. “Tonight. Seven. I’ll be there.”
He recognized the need for her control; if she at least came to his place, she could also choose to escape back to her Georgetown apartment if she wanted. He would take it. “Sounds great. I could order takeout? Italian?”
“Just pizza, Mulder,” she whispered. “Pizza and beer.”
He smiled and turned his chair around. Victory.
*****
The morning progressed agonizingly. Neither Mulder nor Scully was able to break away from the phone and the endless background checks. By eleven Mulder wrote, ‘I’m going to get something from the vending machine. Want your usual?,’ on a post-it note. Scully nodded shortly and mouthed ‘Thank you.’ “No, ma’am. I would never insinuate that. It’s a regular question,” she said softly.
Mulder smiled. A trained medical doctor who could easily leave the FBI and pursue a career in medicine choose to stay and with him no less. She really was his one and five billion. He got up and padded his back pocket for his wallet. Scully slammed the phone down angrily. “Everything okay?”
“I don’t remember my own background checks being so nasty,” she told him. “The woman basically called me a bitch and hung up on me!”
“Well, forget about it. Do you want a Butterfinger instead of the M&Ms?”
“No. I get that stuck in my teeth. Milky Way?”
“You got it,” he laughed. “Be back.”
“Thank you, Mulder.”
He was truly blessed with her. As he made his way to the vending machine, debating what to get for himself, a soft voice called, “Fox!”
He stopped dead in his tracks. No one called him that except one: Diana. He turned and gave a feeble smile. “Hi, Diana.”
“What are doing down here?”
Mulder awkwardly gestured to the vending machine. “Grabbing something to eat for Scully and me. Doing those background checks is hard work.”
Something changed in her demeanor. Diana stood taller, straightening her back so that her chest (and breasts) jutted out slightly. Mulder took a step back automatically, unused to someone else sharing his space beside Scully. “Well, if you are free today, I was wondering if you wanted to catch up over your lunch break down in the cafeteria today?”
Mulder was quiet for a second briefly thinking about Scully. He wasn’t stupid; he knew there was some tension between his partner and ex-wife. But Diana could be trusted. She had been there at the beginning. He understood that. Scully’s suspicion was in the wrong place. “Um, give me fifteen minutes and I’ll meet you there.”
Diana smiled and squeezed his arm affectionately. “See you in fifteen.”
Mulder quickly got his wallet and bought Scully’s candy bar. He walked back to his desk and deposited the candy bar on her desk and grabbed his jacket. She arched an eyebrow in surprise and put her hand over the mouthpiece of the phone. “Where are you going?”
“Ran into an old friend that is only here for a day. Gonna have lunch with them.” One little white lie couldn’t hurt. “I’ll be back at one. Don’t worry, we’re still on for tonight.”
“Mushrooms and green peppers?”
“And pineapple for me.”
She wrinkled her nose with a smile. “Have fun.”
God, Scully could torture him with her little quirks.
*****
Despite the Milky Way Mulder had gifted her at 11 that morning, by noon, Scully’s stomach was grumbling. She eyed the clock as the bigger hand hovered at 12:02. She was entitled to her lunch break and didn’t have to worry about it since she no longer worked out in the field. Scully typed a few quick things out before she grabbed her card and headed down to the Hoover’s employee cafeteria.
Her stomach continued to grumble and turn as she took the elevator to the first floor. Scully decided against her yogurt and bee pollen and wondered what healthy options she had. She checked the menu and decided on a Cobb salad before she proceeded into the line to get her lunch. Her mind was fluttering around the meeting with Mulder that evening. Were they going to finish that conversation? Her blood rushed with excitement.
As Scully went through the motions to purchase her Cobb salad, she clenched her lunch tray when she saw Mulder laughing with Diana.
Diana.
Scully prided herself in not trying to cast judgment, blame her Catholic upbringing. But she couldn’t help it. It was something about Diana that crawled under her skin. Then she saw Mulder laughing, grasping her hand as she leaned against his shoulder laughing too. Then there was the hand holding. What did it for her was the chaste kiss on the cheek that Diana did and Mulder didn’t stop it. Her blood crawled, growing icey. Suddenly, Scully’s appetite was lost and she dumped the contents of her lost lunch in the trash can wastefully. Scully wondered if she was dumping her lunch or her baggage regarding her potential relationship with Mulder.

Mulder smiled at Scully as he came back from lunch. “Hey, Scully,” he greeted.
“Mulder.”
It was the change in her tone that caught him off guard. “Everything okay?”
“I’m fine.”
“Sure?”
“Peachy, Mulder.” She looked up from her work. “I can’t make it tonight. My mom called. I’ll be in Bethesda tonight.”
Mulder did a double-take. “What about our plans?”
Scully didn’t look at him as she replied, “Maybe next time.”
Mulder sat down at his desk. What had gotten into her? “What about our plans?”
“I can’t tonight, Mulder. Maybe next time.”
Mulder frowned as she avoided him completely for the rest of the at.

Scully’s apartment was her refuge. It was her domicile, her kingdom; it was all in her control. As soon as five o’clock hit, Scully quickly left and took the Metro back home to her apartment leaving a puzzled Mulder behind. As soon as she locked her door that evening, she dropped her briefcase by the door, kicked off her heels, and immediately went to their bedroom, changed into black leggings and an FBI gray sweatshirt and collapsed on her overstuffed couch and flipped it to HGTV. Let her be dissolved in fixing and flipping houses rather than fixing her relationship with Mulder.
*****
Mulder knew she took the Metro that day but instead of going straight home, he sat in his car, watching her apartment building before the light in her living room turned on. He downed a miniature he had gotten at a Virginia ABC store. Liquid courage. He took a deep breath, locked his car, and marched to her apartment door.
She pulled it open before he could knock.
“I saw your car,” she answered. She stood aside so he could enter. “What is it that you want?”
“I thought we had a date tonight.”
“We had no date,” she answered cooly.
Mulder scoffed accusingly. “I can’t believe you did this, how could you?”
“What on Earth are you talking about?”
She went to her fridge and dug out a bottle of white wine.
“So my mere presence drives you to drink?” He snapped.
“You’re being selfish. No. What I saw at lunch did it for me.”
Oh, Scully was ready to scorch and burn everything between them. “Lunch?”
“Diana.” She cast her typical questioning left eyebrow before pouring her own glass. “Want some?”
“Sure you won’t burn it?”
“Quit being an asshole.”
She pulled down a second glass and poured some wine into it as well. “I’m not.”
“You are.”
Mulder took the full glass wearily as sipped the pinot grigio. “You aren’t helping.”
“I’m mad.” She gestured between the glasses. “This doesn’t help but at this point, I’m sick of your shit and backtracking.”
“What the fuck, Scully,” he asked.
Mulder was still standing in the doorway with a glass of wine. He groaned and set it aside. He stormed toward her couch as she sat down and crossed her legs. Scully murmured, “What the fuck indeed.”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
She sighed and pinched her brow. “This, us, was a fucking mistake and I should have known the second things went further than planned.”
“What further things?”
“Beer? Talking? The hallway?”
“You aren’t making sense.”
Scully stared at him, narrowed her eyes and huffed. “You fucking kissed her, Mulder. Don’t give me bullshit lines that I’m your one and five billion when you’re off kissing other women.” She set down the glass of wine on the table with a thud. “If you want there to be an us, Mulder then come clean with me.” She stood up. Even without her heels, she was a giant. “I will fight for us but I won’t do it unless you’re all in too.”
Mulder eyed the glass of wine enticingly. “Diana is my ex-wife.”
“She’s your what?”
Fuck it. He downed the wine in one gulp. It numbed him briefly against Scully’s verbal assault.
“And you didn’t think that was important to mention?”
“Scully…”
She was on her feet now, pacing like a shark. “Don’t.   Mulder, I’m pissed. You’re dragging me along for months, pretending that I’m the only thing that matters and then boom, out to lunch with your ex.”
Mulder found himself floundering, stuck in the moment. “What do you want me to do?”
“I want you to be honest with me, Mulder. What happened to trust no one???”
“I trust you,” he defended.
“Trusted. Past tense,” she shouted.
Mulder was stunned. “Scully…”
“There is no us!” She continued. “You know I don’t trust her. I don’t like her but go around strutting with her.”
“Scully, she’s my ex-wife. She was there when I got the x-files.”
“And I was just assigned.” She scoffed. “I get it, Mulder. Loud and clear. You can leave.”
“I’m not leaving, Scully.”
“Mulder, leave. Please.”
“I’m not.” In frustration, Mulder stormed across her living room and grabbed her. He tried to use all his expertise to put his feeling into his body language. A kiss. They were both breathless. “I’m not leaving, Scully. There’s you and you only.”
Scully was dumbstruck. The power of their kiss paralyzed her. “How can I believe you?”
What followed was a hurricane of clothes being removed and six years of tensions being resolved. On her overstuffed couch with all the lights on, in Georgetown, of all places, The tv was playing something that seemed irrelevant to what had just perspired. Mulder coiled around her bare body and pulled her afghan closer. “I got to admit.” He kissed the back of her ear soothingly. “Your couch might be more comfortable than mine.”
“Hmm…” she hummed.
From literally tearing out their throats to post-coitus, neither could complain. “You know, I meant what I said in that hallway, Scully.”
She turned to face him and gripped him tightly. He felt himself tighten with pleasure (or was it fear?). “Say it.”
“Diana is the past. We’re the future.”
“Again.”
“Diana is the past. We’re the future.”
After a moment, Scully released him. He nuzzled her hair. “Satisfied?”
“I will be once we go to bed. I hate sleeping on this couch.”
“Even with the company?”
“The bed is better with the company.”
“Where does this leave us?”
“To be determined?”
“Better than a no.”
For the moment, all anger was forgotten and they could move forward, even if for a moment into her bedroom. And of course, the pizza was forgotten.
