"So, they killed Cassandra first 'cause she feared the worst"- ok so you might think i chose cassandra cain for this only bc of the name, BUT- cass notices things others don't (like cassandra the prophet...), bc of her skills and abilities she is feared the most (Ik the song said "she feared" not "she is feared" but idc lol). like if someone knew so much about you just by looking you'd think she's some kind of a witch too

Peter- picture this: jason had a childhood friend back at crime alley. he left to live in wayne manor and become robin, and said goodbye to his old friend, promising they'd reunite again in the future. 3 years pass and his friend reads an article about jason's death. now listen to the song and try not to cry (if someone writes that fic send me the link IMMEDIATELY this has been haunting me) here's the link to the song with lyrics bc ik you're too lazy to look it up. also jason's middle name is peter:)

Robin- ofc we have to go robins for robin! imo that's bruce to dick and jason's robins, and dick to damian when he was his robin. dick and jason- despite the hard times they went through that led to them becoming robins, they were still mostly happy curious kids that run around covered in mud while bruce tried (unsuccessfully) to maintain the innocence they had left. as for damian- it's more of a stretch than the other 2 bc he had no childlike innocence before robin, but dick tried his hardest to extract the child that was hidden inside the ruthless assassin the league created, finally allowing him to experience normal kid things. idk

What are the Bad Kids' favourite Death Grips projects? (Fantasy High)

I've been having a blast watching Fantasy High: Junior Year, and I have also been relistening to a lot of Death Grips' discography. So, like I do with most of the fandoms I'm in, I'm going to guess what I think each of the Bad Kids' favourite Death Grips project would be. I will give reasoning for each one, but be warned that they are almost completely arbitrary.

Adaine Abernant: n-ggas on the moon

While on one hand I feel like Adaine would find some of the band's heavier albums a bit startling, I think she'd love n-ggas on the moon. It's got this whimsical atmosphere that I think a wizard would really vibe with, and I can see drunk Adaine wilding out to the more high energy tracks like Have A Sad Cum BB and Billy Not Really. Not to mention she'd have a great time deciphering what are arguably Death Grips' most cryptic and mysterious lyrics. This is a party wizard album for sure.

Fabian Aramais Seacaster: Fashion Week

As we all know, Fabian indulges in the finer things in life, and I think his taste in experimental Sacramento-based hip hop would be no different. Fashion Week is the closest Death Grips has ever come to luxury and I'm sure that would attract a young Seacaster. He's totally the type to brag about how refined his taste in music is, evident by how he chooses one of the band's more obscure, instrumental projects over the mainstream slop that is The Money Store. As for the music itself, I feel it's perfect for some wild interpretive dance, and I think Fabian would agree. I can already picture him doing some crazy sheet dance to Runway E.

Fig Faeth: Jenny Death

Jenny Death is the heaviest album in Death Grips' discography, almost acting as fully fledged psychedelic, punk metal album, so I can't imagine why Fig wouldn't adore it. The loud, abrasive guitars, the hypnotic production, the drums that practically punch your ears; it all just screams Fig to me! I mean when I saw the band live the songs from Jenny Death were easily the ones that caused the crowd to go completely wild, and we all know Fig loves a wild crowd. Even the names of the songs are perfect for her: I Break Mirrors With My Face In the United States, Centuries of Damn, Beyond Alive, and The Powers That B all sound like they came right from the Archdevil's own mind.

Also yes, I'm aware I missed an opportunity to assign her Bottomless Pit, but these are the sacrifices I make for accuracy.

Gorgug Thistlespring: Exmilitary

For a barbarian drummer, I can see no better fit than the band's debut mixtape, Exmilitary. This mixtape is so raw and primal, I mean the drums sound like war drums. We already know that Gorgug loves heavy, intense music, so I think he'd totally rock with this. I also think that the tape's unique, grinding production would appeal to his artificer side; it's a perfect mix of rage and technology, and I can imagine him blasting something like Takyon or Guillotine as he hacks through some enemies.

Kristen Applebees: Government Plates

For someone who's constantly riddled with feelings of doubt and confusion while also maintaining a general aura of weirdness (affectionate), I think Government Plates is a good pick for Kristen. It's the kind of album that you have to sit down and listen to a couple times before you really vibe with it; it doesn't want to be understood, but that doesn't mean you should stop trying! Not to mention the pure emotional intensity of tracks like You Might Think He Loves You... (I'm not writing the full title.), Two Heavens, and Bootleg (Don't Need Your Help) suit Kristen very well imo. An underappreciated album for an underappreciated character.

Riz Gukgak: No Love Deep Web

And for everyone's favourite little weirdo is what I consider Death Grips' certified weirdo album (They're all weirdo albums, but this one especially so). Though my reason for choosing No Love Deep Web as Riz's favourite Death Grips project isn't because of the music itself, but rather the history surrounding this album. If you didn't know, this album was released through a secret Alternate Reality Game on the deep web where fans had to solve incredibly cryptic puzzles over a few days in order to gain access to a link that allowed them to torrent the album, and I think that Riz would be all over that shit; I can imagine him setting up a little cork board with all of the clues and whatnot strung up. I don't even know if he'd even like the music, I think he's just invested in the mystery!

What do you find most attractive on Kid? Looks and Character ❤️‍🔥

Hmmm...

Looks-wise, I mean the scars are hot, but honestly I appreciate the punk-vibes. Also, that post-time skip THICC is... yeah. Yeah, I like my big boys.

Character-wise, I love the attitude. I love the scenes we get that show he knows how the world "works", and while Luffy has decided to ignore that part, Kid keeps it in mind.

I don't know if either or is better or right, that's beside the point, but Kid's defiance of it while being painfully aware of it is interesting to me. The loyalty born from it, the way he defends his crew, the fierce choices and risks taken because they're alive.

They're ALIVE because they're pirates. There wasn't any real living on that island, even after it took Victoria, even after they tamed it and took it over - it wasn't living. They were just existing inside the lines of how the World Worked.

Kid says the island was too small for him.

So he goes out, some island punk with, currently, no sailing knowledge save for whoever he got for the crew aside from Killer, Heat and Wire. When we see him in Wano he's not just a punk on a boat, he's someone who fights on the seas - he's a pirate, a captain - knowledgeable and accomplished.

With no mentors.

Six months with Rayleigh and Kid would be a demon. Just knowing how to use all the haki he has available with some level of efficiency that wasn't "figure it out as I go".

I love that you could switch Luffy and Kid as the protagonist of the series and it would still work. One Piece with Kid as the lead would be a much darker title, sure, but the other themes fit. That no existence is illegal, that freedom is paramount, etc. Kid doesn't buck the ideal of "piracy" the way Luffy does, but honestly we don't know how much of what and who Kid is, is propaganda. There's no canon to run off of, but I'm fine with that.

We don't know if he and his crew have done good deeds. I can see the Kid Pirates rebuilding a town - Kid especially is a builder. Luffy overthrows a government for a bowl of food, Kid overthrows a government because fuck the WG.

And yeah, there's assumptions in there, but it's all based off what we do know. We know that Luffy and crew are perceived by the public different from who they are - people know, sure, cause they've done great things, but the general populous sees them as terrifying and violent pirates.

Same as the heart pirates, the kid pirates, etc. People are terrified of Shanks and Whitebeard, 100%. Because government propaganda.

The only acts of violence we see from Kid (and Law) that aren't directed at Marines are directed at pirates. We're just not following those two cause it's not their story.

And there's something like 3,000 islands? I think I read somewhere. So there's plenty of places where Kid and Killer and the crew have stellar reputations. Maybe Kid deals with the underground to keep from being surprised, or to buy someone to free, who knows?

But Character-wise, that's why I love him. It's why I love writing him, because we have this Big Bad Guy who wants you to know he's big and bad, but he's also making like mechanical butterflies and letting birds nest in his hair, he's naming his ship after a dead friend who probably called their home island too small, and he's learned from every hard lesson he's experienced.

Which I won't get into in detail, cause it's not released in anime and I try not to spoil anything that's still manga-only.

Hello hello! I finally caught up on DFF a few days ago and have been reading a bunch of meta ever since, but there are some things I can’t follow. Maybe you can help me?

First off, we keep talking about there being a Final Girl, but why is everyone so sure that there will be one? I could see more people surviving or the story going in a different direction entirely. Where does this conviction come from?

Then, I’m on board with the idea of hallucinations, but one thing that always bothers me is the question of how you could make sure that they all hallucinate the very same thing? I don’t know how hallucination-inducing drugs work, but that seems kind of weird to me.

Also, who is Tan and who is Perth again? This is such a dumb question, but I’m terrible with names and faces, and I know most of the characters now, but I keep mixing up these two.

Anon, let me answer your last question first:

This is Mio who plays Tan in the series. Tan is part of the friend group but came along after Non disappeared.

This is Perth but it is unknown who he is playing in the series. He was only in the background of this scene in the dark jacket with the grey shirt.

As for the other questions, unfortunately, I cannot help you because unlike the rest of these perfectly normal people watching Dead Friend Forever, I'm crazy.

And because I'm crazy, I do NOT care about "reasoning" when it comes to my wack-a-doodle-doo theories. Therefore, White will be the Final Gay simply because I want him to be, and because none of these other motherf*ckers deserve to live.

Yeah, Fluke hasn't actively done anything, but he knew all of this was happening and turned a blind eye, so if Por is dead, why not just kill all of them? Well, expect for the actual killers, Tan and Phi, and the Final Gay White.

Por's death could have just been an accident, and everyone else will get out of this alive, but . . . I don't want it. I want Fluke to shoot Top, Tee to wrestle the gun away from Fluke only for it to go off and kill Fluke, White to kill Tee and run off scared, Tan to "die" because of an asthma attack (but he won't be dead), which will leave Jin and Phi as the only survivors, only for Jin to be stabbed by Phi right before White shows up with help.

Do you feel the crazy? Do you see what I was saying about myself? You cannot ask me logical questions because I am not using deductive skills. I'm operating off of vibes and vibes alone, which is why I felt Phi was sus in episode one. It's also why I don't like Jin. It's a vibe.

Which brings me to your drugs question - The vibes are off!

I think that Non is still alive and running around scaring them all, so not everything is because of the drugs, but if the energy isn't right, if the mood isn't chill, if the vibe isn't good, the drugs are going to hit different. The figurative trip will be bad. So if the literal trip involves the boys talking about Non and seeing videos of Non while they run through the woods for their lives, whatever drugs are in their system aren't going to be happy in a body with that amount of stress, and their brain will focus on Non and the masked killer. In fact, a common side effect of most party drugs is paranoia.

Hell, even some known prescriptions for depression and anxiety can cause these side effects.

Then again, I just do drugs. I don't know the actual science behind them, but I do know if the vibes ain't right, you're not gonna have a good night.

And these boys seem to be having a really shitty night.

But also, the boys haven't all seen the same thing. Fluke saw Por's eyes bleeding and attacking him. White saw a rash on his skin. Jin saw Mr. Keng. Top saw the masked killer trying to axe him (I think part of this was real) and thought he saw a masked killer in the road, so he scared Tee going on about it. Top also might be having a reaction to it which is why he was seizing.

PSA: Test your drugs, kids. Even Amazon, which I think is the devil, sells drug testing kits.

In case you have no idea what this image is about, the joint in her hand is laced with cocaine and was probably one of the reasons her ass was going through endless time loops, so don't do coke. Or things laced with it. Unless you wanna go into other dimensions and DIE every single time. Okay? M'kay!

So to wrap up my special brand of crazy:

White will be the Final Gay because like the Backstreet Boys, "I want it that way."

Everyone deserves to die because Phi is a cop's kid, and if the cops are good for anything, it's covering up the truth, so let this work in our favor for once.

Drugs be drugging, and sometimes people will think of the boy they tried to kill when under the influence, but it's a toss up. Who can predict what a person will see? So, like, don't betray people and you won't hallucinate being stalked by your own guilt *cough* Judas *cough*

Oh, and always test your drugs.

DAVIDS: Before and after the reveal, I did catch some Stu Macher/Scream vibes from Matthew. I recognized that familiar live wire that he plays so well. Did you encourage that? Or did he just know instinctively that this guy warranted a bit of the same crazed energy that Stu had? TAMMI: Gosh, it feels like catching lightning in a bottle with Matthew because he just brings so much to the set and in the moment. And on that day in particular, we were just trying a bunch of different things for a bunch of different takes, and he was really coming alive in that [Yellow Rabbit] suit for the first time. Of course, we’d done some rehearsals with that suit, but it was a whole other deal once the camera was actually rolling in the properly lit pizzeria. So he was just going for it on every take and doing something different and really exploring in the moment. We just needed to make sure that we were there to capture it all. So, yes, there was definitely a back and forth between the two of us in terms of trying different things and really maximizing his menacing movement in that suit. But at the end of the day, he was just bringing all of his brilliance and improvisation to the table, and we were so lucky to be rolling on it.

I've been really jonesing, like really coveting an opportunity to get a chance to get back into the horror genre. Getting a chance to work with Emma has been lovely. I literally, when I'm in that costume I'm blind, and so I rely on her like very few performances I've ever had in my life, to help me... sorta craft this character on the fly, physically in how we're telling the story and where we're at in the lore, and how that applies to-- y'know, all of the information that's out there and available, it all comes through her [Emma Tammi] and she fills us with what we need.

Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying most.

Ongoing Series - Thai

Step By Step (Tues WeTV & Gaga) ep 9 of 12 - There sure is a lot of drinking in this show (who am I to talk?). Omg so awkward: The not-break-up not-confession. I have heartburn. Also I could not watch Jeng break down. Just nope. Then time jump? If that was our DOOM episode the timing is off. Or next week is the final? Or we get 3 eps of domestic bliss and sexitimes? I’m confused.

La Pluie (Sat iQIYI) ep 9 of 10 - I like how trope-subversive this show is - first soulmates, then love triangle, now the faen fatal. NO SINGING. Oh good. They didn’t! Yay! So yeah I still love it. But I am also still a touch scared of where it might go. This one can’t be trusted.

Be My Favorite (Fri YouTube) ep 5 of 12 - not a bad ep this week or was I too drunk to register nuance and damage? You decide. Trash watch here.

Luminous Solution (Sat Gaga) ep 5 of 6 - I always have to psyche myself up to watch this show, because I want to fast forward through most of it, but it’s on Gaga so that’s damn near impossible. At least this is the penultimate episode. I think after 3 BLs I can safely say Gun is just not a good actor. Speaking of... crying clothed in the shower? I haven’t seen that trope in years. But I LOVE the high school boys and their story so much. Love Sick level of earnest floppy goodness, I’m such a sucker for this kind of romance. I want them to be in a completely different BL. I’m so conflicted. I NEED this show to end so I can decide how I feel about it.

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Love Tractor (Korea Weds iQIYI) eps 5-6 of 8 - So much is happening, evil x-boyfriend shows up. We got flashbacks to coming-out drama + nasty dad (super unusual for a KBL). Tokyo in April AKA Shigatsu no Tokyo wa (Japan Thurs Gaga) ep 2 of 8 - Very much full of hero worship and giving me My Beautiful Man vibes (only softer and office set). “Dazzling” = always an interesting word when it comes up in JBL subs. It’s clearly a Japanese word/concept like kawaii that is more complex than the English word being used. Meanwhile, this being Japan we get lots of hints as to separation and dark past events.

Tie The Knot (prev Under the Same Sky) (Pinoy YouTube) eps 1-2 of 8 - From OXIN Films (Rainbow Prince), based on a true story (?!), Briggs's family runs a bridal business but he has never fallen in love until he meets a groom to be in an arranged marriage. EXACTLY the same premise at Mame’s forthcoming Wedding Planner. There are so many characters and prospective couples (including a v bi girl with a female fuck buddy, not seen that in a BL before) that it is a little hard to keep straight (heh). I’m sure it will shake out. It’s intriguing so far, if a touch silly. I actually like the arranged marriage premise because the two rich kids involved in it are so weirdly kind & platonically sweet to each other, even if they’re both on the same page about it only being for show.

Vian the series (Vietnam YouTube ) ep 7 & 8 of 12 - Apparently there is very little difference between a cat and a demanding princess of a boyfriend. That clocks. Basically this was the dating times.

Naked Dinner AKA Zenra Meshi (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 11 of 12 - There is a lot more meat to this silly little BL then I thought there would be given the premise, but it’s Japan so that’s as it should be. But, as it’s Japan there’s also a little too much cringe for me. I do enjoy how generous Japan is with late bloomers and I would def like to host a kimchi party but otherwise... meh.

Stupid Genius (Vietnam Fri YouTube) ep 3 of 6 - Bi erasure still alive and well I see. This one remains fine for VBL but no more than that.

House of Stars (Thai Mon iQIYI) 12 eps - I bounced at ep 3. Will binge if told it is worth it at end.

What Did You Eat Yesterday movie, BL Express posted a review. I’ve yet to get hold of it but if you enjoy Our Dining Table this is it’s grown up parent series & movie.

Café in Love - I finally got around to watching this. And frankly it hits all the tropes but is so damn bad. The setting is cute, the central brotherly relationship is sweet, the side cast is v queer (baby gay has all these auntie queens catting about) and some complex bisexual awakenings but… but… everything else is a chemistry void. Some fun language wordplay and exploration of cultural tropes like cheek kissing does not save it from an unnecessary amount of punching and a but ton of sexual harassment and statutory rape. No thank you. I had to rewatch Destiny Seeker to get over this. 3/10

Takumi-kun Series 6: Nagai Nagai Monogatari no Hajimari no Asa (Japan Sun ????) 10 eps - NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS and no, I have no idea where to get it, why would I? Apparently it finished. I still can’t find it but it’ll be off this list next week.

Why You (Khmer ????) - Billed as a horror romance, not sure if this is a movie or a series where it aired... nothing except that it exists.

But there’s so little on right now, I might fall on the pulp sword.

I'm exploring a few different ideas for a fic that ultimately focuses around the idea of damaged people from ruined worlds or little left to go back to coming together in the form of Farmworld Finn surviving his battle with the Scarab and traveling to Vampire World to continue the good fight in a way that matters to him while his kids get to grow up somewhere safe; there, he meets up with Vampire World Bonnibel, and they team up to fix things as best as possible, possibly even following their worlds merging as a result of cosmic auditors noting that their worlds are otherwise untidy enough and better suited mashed together

But its not enough to just have Princess Bubblegum, Finn the human and Jake the dog together again; there is a FOURTH member of that found family. It's not complete without Marceline, adopted Petrikov. But the Marceline of that world is... perhaps, too far gone. A corruption of the Marcy we know and love. Redemption is for her, perhaps not IMPOSSIBLE, but certainly something outside the scope of what I want to do. But you know one possibility?

The unknown fate of the original Marceline of Winter King's world. And one potential vibe I have for why she might be angry at Winter King even after his death and the source of some complex feelings, and what Ice Marceline actually was, can all be summed up by a relevant panel of Protoman from the Mega Man comics:

Winter King Marceline raises a LOT of questions and open ideas.

We don't have anything to go on, besides the fact that an Ice Marceline acting as a play replica implies that she is either gone or Winter King THINKS she's gone. Betty is also dead, or that Winter King believes she is. So here's my idea; the Marceline of that world IS still alive, but quite different from mainline Adventure Time world; I propose that she actually occupies a similar role to Magic Woman Betty, as a magically powerful wizard who has done complicated things and even acted as an antagonist in her desperate attempts to save Winter King from himself, but in the end it was too late, and she couldn't save him.

The idea I have is that for various reasons, she is not connected to the Finn of her world or Princess Bubblegum; its likely that if they ever knew each other, the circumstances behind her Simon's death and his crimes against that PB left her with a very severe conflict of loyalties and was ultimately too distanced from either; its not impossible that at some point she MIGHT return to them, but I'm thinking that the mode her is that these are people who were meant on some level to unite in the Finn/PB/Marceline family triangle, but due to accidents of fate or bad circumstances, it didn't turn out that way.

In this case, that particular part of the eternal recurrance did NOT work out for them, but through the actions of Fionna and Simon bringing other worlds together, they have a chance to start anew; Magic Marceline comes to vampire world and meets up with them, deciding that she can at least fix SOMETHING even if she can't save the man that used to be her father.

This take on her draws much more on her demonic nature; her soul sucking powers have been honed so that she's stolen magical power from others with the intent of ultimately trying to find a way to do the same with the Ice Crown without harming Simon in the process, and she's garnered a bunch of different wizard powers that let her do the sort of things Marceline can otherwise do. This version of her most likely looks more human, similar to Marshall Lee in Fionna's world; not sure why yet but maybe she has actively altered her appearance to distance herself further from her father, or she simply looked more like her mother here.

As another detail on how warped and tragic the dynamic of Winter King was, I'm also thinking that her relationship with him was full of conflicts leaving her feeling tremendously messed up; she loved him but she hated what he'd become, she known for a while there was not coming back from what he'd done but she still tried so hard, and in the end he deliberately forgot her in favor of an illusion of the child she once was.

You know, the more I think about the finale (which is basically all I’ve been doing since it came out), the more I realize something.

The further and further I got in Miraculous up until this point, the deeper the sense of dread and nihilism I got. Because every time Marinette and/or Adrien made any significant step forward, they were “rewarded” with either a bad end or an undo button. Chat Blanc and Ephemeral are obvious examples, but there have been plenty of others too -- all the times Marinette ~almost~ got to confess to Adrien, their identity reveal in Oblivio, the few moments of happiness Adrien had with his father, etc. Even Kwami’s Choice (one of the very few moments of actual happy plot progression that we get) bends to this rule, because they were so relieved to be free of the Miraculous, but in the end, that freedom was doomed not to last.

It made me more and more anxious the more I watched. I got the feeling that no matter what happened, these kids might never get their happy ending. Even when the series ends (I’m assuming on a positive note, but after this finale nothing can be taken for granted) Marinette will eventually have to pass on her Guardianship, which means she’ll forget everything -- including not only Adrien, also Alya and all the rest of her loved ones that she met after learning about the Miraculous. Her memories (to my understanding) will revert back to what they were at the point just before becoming involved with the Miraculous. Which means her journey of personal growth and working through her trauma will also be reset. Either that or her entire memory is wiped. Neither option is happy. And then of course there’s Adrien, who will have to grieve their past relationship, supposing he’s still alive when she gives up the Miracle Box.

Realizing this made me think: How will they get out of this? How will they ever be okay? Are they just doomed to fail and suffer tragedy on repeat for the rest of their lives?

Yin and Yang. Creation and Destruction. Joy and Grief. They are all natural cycles -- forces that cannot be avoided. And none can exist without the other.

In season five, we got one of the greatest joys (and steps forward) that we’ve received in the entire show -- Adrienette finally becoming canon. And staying canon, despite steep odds. We also got the single greatest loss in the series to date, and that’s Gabriel succeeding in making his wish. Going out on his own terms, with the knowledge that he got what he wanted. God, it makes me sick.

At first I was shocked. Upset. Disappointed, a little bit. Because of course we all expected something different. Something involving them beating the odds, no matter what.

But this ending....it’s the natural conclusion to the Bad Vibes (TM) I’d been getting from this series for a while now. That sense of hopelessness, of inevitability....All those times I thought to myself, “How are they ever going to break this cycle? What will they be able to do differently that will allow them to win?” The answer was already in front of me. And that answer was: They can’t. Sometimes tragedy is unavoidable. Sometimes, despite all your best efforts (and an absolutely badass performance by Bug Noire) you still lose.

And hasn’t that been the whole point of the series thus far, when you think about it? Making mistakes and knowing how to fix them. The entire setup of akumatized victims is a picture of this. We all have negative emotions, and we all make mistakes. But in the end, they can be fixed, and life moves on. Maribug makes all kinds of mistakes too. Little everyday ones that get episodic focus as well as life changing events like in Risk. She obsesses over her mistakes -- tries so hard to be perfect -- but no matter what she will continue to mess up, and do her best to make it better.

She’s made a massive mistake this time by choosing to extend an olive branch to Gabriel. The world is forever altered, and it’s unclear if anything can be done to fix it. But just like always, she will do everything in her power to make things right. It’s the natural evolution of a story with this theme, to, after rectifying so many errors, finally come to one which can never be undone. It’s even more dire than loosing the Miraculous last season, since at least those could be reclaimed. But life goes on, regardless of what happens in the past. All Marinette can do is learn from her experiences and do better next time.

Mistakes are inevitable. Pain and grief are inevitable. But so is growth. So is joy. So is life.

I predict that the end of Miraculous Ladybug will come when Marinette is finally comfortable with her ability to mess up and recover from it. When she accepts that sometimes bridges need to be burned, and that failure is a part of life. When she’s comfortable enough with herself to admit that, she’ll be ready to take on the new Butterfly holder and, with Adrien by her side this time, finally make a decisive victory.

Who knows what will happen after the final credits run. How the cycles of Creation and Destruction rear their heads in their lives. But by the time that moment comes, they’ll be prepared to square up and face it head on.

The closer we get to it, the more this place gives me a Shinra vibe.

You can only get in or out of the compound with a biometric scan. That feels like it's going to be important. We need to keep that in mind.

Also, I'm surprised Makoto takes his mask off for something. So it does come off at times. I was beginning to think it was glued to his face.

Massive Shinra vibe. But at least they aren't draining the life essence of the planet to power the city.

Man, Japanese evil corporate architecture is amazing. They have trees growing in their plaza. Look at all this. It's a mini-mall's worth of space dedicated to their lobby alone.

I've worked for evil megacorporations for my entire career. I was at a big-name finance institution when the economy collapsed. All we got was a small entrance area containing one lobby desk and a security guard who doesn't give a shit, and sometimes a cafeteria we can slip away to for breakfast.

I would kill to have been able to work in an environment like this. Before I worked from home, anyway. Now, if you try to make me go back to an office building, I might stab you.

That's the smell of capitalism, my man. The product of a thousand underpaid and underappreciated workers who come in the night to erase the traces of humanity left behind and sustain the illusion of an unblemished mechanism.

I'd meet them sometimes when I was pulling late hours to eliminate backlogs of work that my colleagues' lack of motivation and commitment to the organization would eventually produce. Before I got fired for not working hard enough.

Wait, would that even--

Oh, who am I kidding. This is a company town. Of course child labor is normalized.

Makoto keeps hammering this point, and he's right. This is the single most important piece of any disguise. It's Trespassing 101: If you carry yourself with confidence and act like you belong, most people won't question it.

They only become suspicious if you look out-of-place. That usually means acting like you're doing something you aren't supposed to. Though, regrettably, it can also mean "visibly being a member of a marginalized demographic", even if you in fact do belong here.

Gonna go out on a limb here and say this is probably not the Restricted Area that Kurumi was talking about earlier. Seems unlikely.

Man, the tension is so thick you can cut it with a knife. Waiting for the shoe to drop. Just. Waiting.

(Here ya go I just posted my comment i left under Manly video here with some edits)

I was right! I'm not at all surprised by the mother saying, she can't believe Ashely brainwashed Andrew. Firstly Andrew isn't as weak as he lets on. The problem is it benefits him to play that role. I also find it super interesting she said she protected the kid after they killed that little girl. You'd think as a parent you'd want to talk to them. But throughout all the flashbacks it's always been just them two together. With Andrew sometimes being with other people. (it could be that our siblings here are unreliable narrators but even as we saw them interact with the mother she seems to stay constant with the memories we've seen.)

Jesus it off rips again, Ashely and her need to not have shit tossed back her way. That's why I said Andrew is less bad just because he thinks about shit. He is still bad but Ashely is constantly digging into him. Right after the parents are gone, she back to accusing him. She makes shit all the more difficult they had the easiest out!! Put their parents back in bed. Alive and in a coma you'd think it was a medical problem!

And Ashely in all her wisdom says no let's chop them up. They are chronically stupid, Ashley says she saw a sigh of relief coming from Andrew when she killed them. Yeah because it is usually him killing people and Ashely using it to blackmail and gaslight him afterward. It's a cycle and I'm shaking my phone because of it.

Andrew's withdrawal from Ashely during the dismemberment scene is telling. Because Ashely never validated any of Andrew's feelings whether that be his plans or worries. The "relationship" has become (even more so) lopsided. He no longer puts up a fight but that means he no longer communicates with her.

Ashely is more like her mother than she thinks. Only in the way she treats Andrew. They both see him as someone reliable but not much else. Someone they can lean on but not really take his emotions into account. Andy was someone she could manipulate full stop. Andrew is who Andy truly is while fighting for some type of autonomy. On the 1st bridge scene Andrews not joking when he says he wants to kill Ashely and then himself. And again Ashely brushes him off, he breaks down for her. "I only asked you for one thing Ashely." And I think that layered because after they killed the girl that liked him. Andrew gave up everything for Ashely, from the ice cream and the girlfriends. It was never enough that he said it even as a kid. Now that he reaching a breaking point and he asks for one thing from her she can't do it. (Andrew even proves my point when Manly picks to trust Andrew)

GOD DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE MOM AGAIN! (during a trust scene in the basement.)

INSTANTLY! When Andrew talks to her she says "I'm sorry for always making you look after her." I had a nano second of Oh that's a good start- AND THEN SHE FOLLOWED THAT SHIT UP WITH "DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT WAS FOR ME ANDREW?" AAAAAHHHH

The only saving grace and I mean the only saving grace is. The mom fully stopped and said this is her fault, that she fucked up. I find it super interesting though with Andrew and I wanna know which one is more canon. Between the Accept and Decline. Accept Andrew admits to being stuck. He's not happy, but he will stick with Ashely (Codependence)

The decline is funny and the mom full out says "Are you fucking her?" because she can't think of another reason for him to do all this. (Again not fully realizing how fucked up it was to let him raise Ashely while also being a child himself. but also Andrew has stopped taking such a nose dive in his mood. It's lighter because Ashely trusted him.

The ending tho have way different vibes. Distinctly Ashley worries about two different things in one ending Ashley's worried about Andrew killing her because she has finally pushed him too far. In the more positive and light-hearted one. She worried Andrew had changed so much that he no longer needed her. That the thought of honeypotting him could make him stay. Because now Andrew is no longer spiraling and because he's more confidant and les remorseful he's mirroring her. It makes her upset. Both ending end with Andrew getting a mole on his hand with an eye. Which could mean a lot of things. That he is marked for a service later, that he has a tar soul but it hasn't hatched.

To go back to the "scene" they way yall were acting on tumblr you'd think that wasn't just a fuxkin wink from the devs. Which it was- thats all it was.

Andrew had the perfect reaction. It's a normal reaction, Ashley on the other hand thought it may have happened sooner or later and that's without Manly picking the never say never option. So the siblings are sibling it up without it being weird.

But what really gets me is what ending is considered Canon or is it up to the audiences to pick. (also if you reading this hot mess tell me what ending do you think is canon) It's clear the Bad end is tied to not trusting Andrew. I'm assuming that's what the skulls mean. A more natural ending comes from Andrew's growth. Because instead of it being Ashely worried about death. She worried about him leaving which would fit her narrative more. Although I like angry Andrew ending.

I dunno if it's just me, but I'm kind of very intrigued by the Wahoo World mascot, Fresh Fish. Like the idea that Seafolk in Splatoon have their very own cartoon culture, it's interesting to me. What are their fairytales like ? Their pop culture ? And how much of it may have human pop culture ? Is the Pokemon/Transformers/Smash Bros Splatfest thing canon lore-wise ? Do they know what these are from archeology or something else ?

Whatever may be the answers to these questions, I thought I'd do some fanart about this little toon guy. Also some headcanons.

So the Mascot gear that we get in the game is very different aesthetically from Fresh Fish the original toon character, exactly like these animatronics/mascot costumes from Disneyland or whatever fast food place that look fundamentally uncanny compared to the advertised toon characters.

So the OG Fresh Fish is obviously nowhere as creepy that the dudes who wear his mascot gear, however the recent public commercialization of this gear to Turf Players -to try and advertise Wahoo World in sports- triggered the start of his creepypasta era, to the greatest regret of his owners, but also their greater profit. You know how creepypasta fans can be.

Fresh Fish currently has about a dozen creepypastas to his name, even though practically all of them are about Mascot Gear wearers being creepy. These stories are in the vein of "Treasure Island"/"Abandoned by Disney"-type of creepypastas.

Fresh Fish is pretty much the Splatoon equivalent of Mickey Mouse, complete with being more than 80 years old and being one of the most known cartoon mascots out there. (Except his company struggle to keep the flame alive, as most youth lose interest to get into sports and quest for freshness, and it's mostly popular with little kids and nostalgic adults. Also they don't own as much animation than corporate monster Disney, though they're on that brink and very wealthy, it's just not quite as bad.)

Fresh Fish is mostly successful in his 'classic rubberhose toon' series, as many fans enjoy slapstick, and much like Mickey before him, goes on adventures/mysteries during his episodes. His personality is similar to Mickey, in the sense that he's "that nice guy that helps everybody", except he's more fashionable and just a tiiiny bit clueless ; and relies mainly on cartoon luck and hopes that his foes will go easy on his dense ass. He also has pals/acolytes, but no romantic partner.

He can't use ink, but he's been known to have a shot at it (ha ha) more than once.

There are a bunch of sponsor episodes staring brand mascots that are either horribly cringe or very engaging, no in-betweens.

After the creepypasta uprising, his company started out spookier episodes and a new character trait to be unintentionally off-putting (pretty much making him unknowingly autistic), which have actually a decent success.

His eyes actually DO glow in the dark, but it's just a specie thing.

And boy I'd probably come up with more, but I think I'm gonna stop here.

Alright anyway, I hope you like it ! I totally agree that the dudes who use his mascot gear are one whole other level of Splatoon player, but you get my vibe. It's just funny to speculate.

Oh yeah btw I do indeed love "Classic Toons" characters. I might do more around him in the future. (Maybe in the style of that one fake Splatoon 3 artbook I did for school that I have yet to show someday.)

Lucius WILL get shot in the foot: The Theory

Haven't done one of these in a while, mostly because of university projects and newly appointed bachelor thesis. But I stay silly with black clover theories.

Lucius not being EXACTLY the big bad but more so a placeholder seems to be kinda obvious, but mostly not because of story relevance (which will be discussed later) but also religion relevance.

To first state, if Lucius is REALLY going hard with the Puritanical/Christian vibes, then we know for a fact his "angels are made from humans with purified devil hearts and brainwashing" has one massive hole in the boat. And that's how demons are "defined" in Christianity.

The idea of demons/devils being an inherently evil force is something that came much later in writing, to the point where the devils we've prior to the arc could be less "demonic forces of evil" and more "spirits of human malice, trying to get back into the human realm". This is because originally, demons were originally angels who betrayed other angels.

With this, it fits into the idea of "obviously paladins are angels because they're the so called "traitors" now purified and back on the side of "God"/Lucius"." Whether the soul magic implements a counter in the form of fear, guilt or something else, we're sticking with fear because while Puritans primarily use shame, the Fear Of God and Hell has been technically unanimous in Christian cult practices.

The PROBLEM is that this has all the possibility of "History Is A Flat Circle" Phenomenon. One of the paladins may or may not betray Lucius/snap out of the soul magic pressure. We've SEEN with sister Lily that, if forced to fight someone they care about, they WILL have a mental breakdown over it and unconsciously skirt around Lucius' orders. Sister Lily claimed she didn't actually send Asta to safety, which means she's either lying (more fuel for being able to resist soul magic to some extent) or Beelzebub is somehow pressing magic buttons without Lily knowing (more fuel to the possibility of devil takeover).

While Lily herself wasn't able to bust out, the criteria for that may be the fact that she is still alive. Lily never te hnically experienced death, and if that was a focal point of pressure from soul magic (ie punishment for refusal of orders is dying) then naturally she's still bound by human instinct and the amygdala in her brain to follow orders.

Morgen and Acier may very well be built different. Both have the mental fortitude to break away from it, the incentive to break from it and have previously died and been brought back to life, which has undoubtedly messed up their internal fear receptors.

Acier literally fought Vanica until near death and didn't mentally let up for the whole time, then slowly and painfully died while being unable to protect her children, which is an adamant show of willpower. She's then REVIVED and pit against the very children she, as a mother, swore to protect. If ridiculous feats such as hysterical strength activate in parents to protect their kids, its likely Acier will pull a break on the ride, either by pure willpower or sheer restraint.

Morgen comes from a devil-host bloodline and has acted quickly in front of Lucifugus, while Nacht was pretty much frozen in shock/fear. He also refrained from snitching on his parents for god knows how long, showing that he's rejected authority before. NOW, he's forced to kill fellow magic Knights and is pit against Yami, one of his closest friends. Morgen is arguably as fucked up in the head as Nacht, so messy mental gymnastics are likely to somehow make him counter the soul magic. While I don't have confidence it'll happen against Yami, I do have faith it'll happen against Nacht. Plus, with Lucifugus as his devil choice, we might see this motherfucker whisper shit like how he's gonna kill his brother the same way Lucifugus did to his family and if that's not gonna cause a scene, idk what will.

While I don't know what devil Acier has, assuming it's something connected with metal or supporting it, we know for a fact that Morgen's magic ties in with the biggest angelic traitor out there, Lucifer ie Mister Light Bringer Himself. So Morgen Betrayal is VERY likely.

On top of that, do these eyes look like the face of someone who is Mentally Well? No, look at him.

Look at those fucking eye bags, that's the face of someone who's about to make Bad Decisions In Front of God. He's done it before, he'll do it again.

This would in turn make a whole ass circle of Devils>> Purified Devils>> Paladins>> Traitor Paladins>> Demons. Literally 5 steps in the equation.

The problem THIS proceeds is that we don't know if Soul Magic is ALSO keeping the Supreme Devil Bastards in check. We KNOW from Zagred AND Megicula's creative asses that, if given a freestyle like magic, you CAN regenerate from just a heart.

Whether it's limited to the magic or whether the space around it works, we don't know. Luciferos heart didn't regenerate, probably because eof his magic type being very limited or because he no longer proper vessel (his was made out of other devils, and Zagred's was imperfect, so probably not limited to having "devil flesh").

So either you can regenerate with just a heart or you need find another vessel.

The problem this creates is that we have devils who can either possess ex paladins (Morgen and maybe Acier in Risk range) or have devils that can regenerate from scratch (I smell Morris and undoubtedly Lucius falls here).

This will put Lucius on the fucken spot because of Astaroth. Dipshit eternal himself had his magic lost but we SAW that time magic has the ability to regenerate/turn back time to the original state it was in a la Julius.

This points back to the thematic arcs, that show Lucius is not the final FINAL boss of the arc. Astaroth is.

It falls into the two criteria we can put into this:

1. Behind each, seemingly human bastard manipulator is a bigger, more demonic, more manipulative devil bastard. (Patri >> Zagred), (Dark Triad >> Megicula, Beelzebub, Lucifero) (Lucius>> Astaroth).

2. Each Demonic Bastard will get more and more Personal Beef With Asta, in backwards chronological order. (Zagred >> turned Lichts grimoire into a 5 leaf, which later became Asta's grimoire (15)), (Lucifero>> killed Asta's mom, locking Liebe in the grimoire and essentially starting a domino effect to his defeat by Asta (5~10?)) (Astaroth>> Something Undoubtedly Cursed or Related to his Birth Or The Reason He's Manaless (0~5??))

In other words, when the shoe drops, it'll drop a ton. And if becomes a mess because Lucius was never even in control but only ever just following instructions, well, it'll at least be funny.

I know I recommend @orangesunsets12's Avalanche a lot...but I'm gonna do it again. It really is one of the best fics ever. It's just...it's got everything. It's fantastic. I love it.

❄️ ⇢ What's your dream theme/plot for a fic, and who would write it best?

Team Citizen Charlie's Angels AU. I have something in the works that kiiiiiiiiiind of fits that vibe, but not quite. Also, anything Team Citizen related with Linda as a member. I think they'd all work great together, and I'd love to see it happen. I'd also really love an AU that's mostly canon compliant and set in a middle/later season, but Ronnie's been alive and part of the Team Flash Family the whole time. I hadn't really given any thought to who I would want to read these kinds of fics by, but the first person to come to my mind is @kitkatt0430, who has a good handle on everyone's personalities and a really enjoyable writing style (I'm not dropping hints here, just making a statement—don't feel pressured to do anything about it 😅).

🧩 ⇢ What will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?

Not counting the things I won't click into in the first place here, no paragraph breaks is a big one. Death-panic-midnight writing is another. Y'know, when everything is SO DRAMATIC!!!! so early into a fic. Overuse of epithets and dramatic speech signifiers, or someone bursting into tears with no build up to it, so instead of feeling the emotions™️ with the characters, you're just overwhelmed because So Much Is Happening Right Now, and you don't even know what room everyone's in, or why character A is suddenly "roaring" at character B for what sounded like a reasonable question. Like, ease me into it or have the central character feel as bewildered as I do about what in heck is going on here.

🧃 ⇢ Share some personal lore you never posted about before

So when I was little (maybe 4 or 5), my family went out to a fancy restaurant, or at least what I considered to be fancy at the time. I don't remember the event that preceded it, but considering we were in a different town and with a big group of people from church, it was probably either a revival or choir tour (or, come to think of it, that might've been the night we saw the Gaithers in concert). It was a fun night out for the adults, but for us kids, it was tedious (the food was good, though, when it finally came out).

At some point, my older brother started entertaining himself with what little resources he had at the table. He got some paper, which might have been napkins or might have been a kids' menu, and folded it into a shape resembling a paper airplane, and poured some pepper into the groove down the middle. After getting me to look his way, he blew through his paper creation and sent pepper flying—right into my eyes.

He realized a split second too late that he'd fucked up when I started screaming and crying, getting everyone's attention at the table, and probably the whole restaurant. In the back of my mind—the part that wasn't overwhelmed by how badly my eyes stung—I was a little worried that my mom would be mad because I was being loud in a restaurant, and I would have to explain what happened. But of course, when you're screaming because you have pepper in your eyes and you can't even open them for how bad it hurts, it's obvious to everyone around you that something is wrong.

My mom very quickly led me into the bathroom, where she took me to the sink and started flushing the pepper out of my eyes, and it was the biggest relief when the pain started to fade and I could stand to open my eyes again. Everything was a little blurry at first, but that issue resolved itself soon enough.

My brother had to apologize, which he did profusely, because he didn't know that blowing pepper in my face was gonna do that, and my dad chewed him out, told him that he could have blinded me, and made him walk around with his eyes closed for a little while after we got home so he would "know what it's like to be blind" (not really the most accurate thing, but he made his point).

Gotham Knights Review! (No Major Spoilers)

Okay, so this game is AMAZING!!! The story is incredible. The characterizations are perfect! This is the Batfamily dynamic I've been waiting for! Minus the Webtoon Batman: Wayne Family Adventures, Gotham Knights is the only story we've seen the Batfamily actually act like a family. The comics these days are so dark and I'm not saying they're bad, but it gets old having terrible thing after terrible thing happen and all of the characters are sad and broody and fight. The thing with Gotham Knights is that the characters feel 3D. They feel real in a way they don't a lot of times in the comics and I've never seen a Batman video game like this either. And it isn't like they're all running around smiling and happy all the time. That wouldn't feel real either. They're all mourning Bruce in their own way, but the beautiful thing in this game is that they lean on each other. They interact like siblings and Alfred is their Grandfather figure. I love the emails you can read for each character, it makes them feel even more alive. It's also fun to see the small cameos from other DC characters like Superman, Roy Harper, and Wonderwoman.

One of my favorite things in the game, and it seems small but feels so big to those of us in the queer community, is the support Tim receives from his family. For those who don't know, Time Drake is bisexual and in the game, there are lots of nods to this. There is a Bludhaven mug with Bi Pride colors. There is a rainbow flag hanging on a wall in the loft. Tim is embraced and loved and supported. The game developers could have ignored this. They could have never mentioned it, but they instead chose to add it. This fact doesn't affect the game. It's not even brought up much, but it's there and that's wonderful. The point is he's Bi and he's still Robin. His sexuality is only a part of who he is, but an important part and the game devs didn't forget that.

Jason's still angry. Tim is still a nerdy kid. Dick is punny and does acrobatics. Babs is smart and kickass. The games still let them be the characters we know, just with a new spin. It's wonderful. The Found Family vibes are strong with this one!

Now, the gameplay. It's good but there are still a lot of glitches. Small things usually that don't usually affect progression. Jason's hoodie strings, for example, just do whatever they want. It's funny but distracting. I really like the graphics, I know some people have some issues with them but I don't. I will say that after you've been playing a while, especially after you finish the game, the crimes around Gotham start repeating. It's just the same mission over and over again which can get a tad boring. I love the Batcycle and the different Momentum Abilities! Those are super fun and make fights interesting! I also love the customization options for suits! Dear Lord did I have so much fun playing around with colors and cowls, etc. Which leads me to another feature I LOVE! Photo Mode!

Photo Mode has so many options to take the best screenshots. From lighting to posing your heroes. They have different filters and frames. You can change contrast or brightness. Even your hero's facial expression! And with all the different suits and the ability to roam around Gotham, it sets up nicely for fun photo shoots! (This is also a helpful way to look at the pictures around the Belfry, they can be hard to see but if you switch to Photo Mode you can zoom in.)

This is officially my favorite video game hands down. I have to dock 1 point for the repetitiveness and glitches but my final score for Gotham Knights:

9/10!!!
