You know what I love?

I love when a fic author takes a side character and turns them into a Secret Badass.

And they'll do it in such a way that it's still somehow at least mostly canon-compliant by having said character act behind the scenes and hide their true skills...for whatever reason.

And the best parts are the reveal scenes where the other characters finally realize how much they've underestimated them...!

"Secretly a Badass" is seriously one of my absolute favorite tropes of all time.

Does anyone have any good Wangxian fic recs where Lan Xichen is the main pov/and or a chunk of the story is from his perspective? I'm just asking because I read and fic where he had a brief part from his perspective, and since he is the number one Wangxian shipper I need more.

Also he is so nice and kind. I just want to see him being a good brother, ya know? He is so supportive and I would love to just watch him cheering on from the background, while maybe getting his own little arc too.

He was a wild and unpredictable like the wind to his adoptive guardians, a menace in the street and spoiled like a rotten breed dog by his favourite person in the world— his adoptive sister, Jiang Yanli. If Jiang Yanli told him to bite a stranger— he would, no justification needed. Though she was a sensible young girl, her loyal pup was not!

What the boy had not realized was that— because of his bullheadedness— sometimes all it took was a flutter of a butterfly's wings to crumble a universe!

His one innocent action to protect his favourite person would change the course of history. All his actions no matter how annoying had always been born of love, and his current actions were the result of this pure love.

Someone in my class in university was reading MDZS when I came into the room before my prof came in and she left the book on the table for the whole 90mins and you all don't know how close I was to see it used as an example of 'What is a book made of and what can be on the inside...'

And we were also talking about illustrations in books and oh, god, I am so glad that my prof didn't decide to show us the differences between hardcover and paperback.

I would have died.

One of my favorite headcanons for The Untamed is the idea that the real reason the Impure/Unclean Realm in Qinghe is such an impressively impenetrable fortress is because despite only Nie Mingjue being the ~official~ sect leader, he and Nie Huaisang secretly run the sect together...

(Well, it's a secret to outsiders — all of the Nie disciples of course already know.)

They each play to their own strengths (because they have very different strengths) and then collaborate when it comes to the more difficult or more important matters...

And with the two of them working together in unison, the Nie sect is virtually undefeatable.
