Putting unrelated fics into one compilation instead of series or collections

Not tagging your fics/“haha I’m so bad at tagging!”

Tagging all of the ships in a fandom instead of the relevant ones to the story

“This is my first fic ever”/ “I’m really not a good writer” / “sorry if this is crap”

Summaries that say “sorry don’t think I will update much” or “might be abandoned idk”

Tagging “r@pe” or “unaliving” etc instead of the actual tag so people can filter/exclude

NOT tagging major, relevant tags or kinks without using the “creator chose not to use archive warnings” option

Telling people how bad your writing is and how you hate it so much and how they shouldn’t even be reading your fic (self deprecation)

I for one am tired of the attitude that even if we don't like certain figures within recent occult history, we should respect their influence, because witchcraft wouldn't be what it is today without them.

Like.... hello? Have you seen the larger witchcraft community? The rampant misinformation and pseudohistory? The white supremacy? Maybe things wouldn't be such a mess without some of those figures.

Personally I don't believe for a second that people wouldn't be practicing magic today without the influence of Crowley, or Gardner, or Valiente. Maybe fewer people would call what they're doing witchcraft, and maybe fewer people would mislabel other cultures' practices as witchcraft, but would that really be so bad?

People have been practicing magic since before any of these figures, and they would have continued to do so without them. I don't feel the need to respect people merely for being influential -- not every influence is a positive one.

#FWIW this isn't like an anti-Wicca rant in particular #just two out of three of the people who came to mind for this rant were influential Wiccans #and sometimes I wish I hadn't had to spend years untangling my own practice from the pervasive influence of Wicca
