════════════════════════
Your mom didn’t tell you she wouldn’t be home the weekend you arrived. You found out through text when you asked her why she wasn't opening the door. She told you where to find the spare key and assured you she and your sibling would be back on Tuesday. It was Saturday.
There was food in the pantry, but you could go and buy something if you wanted to. It would do you good to explore the town; as much as you complained about the weird happenings, you would die of boredom if you stayed home while your family came back.
If there was something you liked about Beacon Hills, it was the weather. You didn’t fare well in the cold, never had, not even in vacations where the snowy scenery was breathtaking and the beverages soothingly warm.
You unpacked and changed your shoes. Your bedroom had been cleaned recently, the bedsheets were fresh and smelled of the fabric softener your mom had used all your life.
The doorbell rang. You wouldn’t make it through the weekend without having a stroke if you had to entertain one of your neighbors, you just wouldn’t — you didn’t need to be reminded that people found you cruel for leaving your mom and sibling to live with your dad in San Franciso.
Knowing they would call her if you didn’t open the door, you hurried your way down the stairs and took a deep breath. You could come up with something if needed, maybe the excuse of needing to buy groceries.
But you found your favorite person in Beacon Hills as you opened the door, and suddenly whatever it was you had been dreading was dumb and childish and maybe things weren’t so bad around here if it meant getting a big hug from Stiles Stilinski.
“What are you doing here?” you asked against his shoulder.
He laughed, squeezing you. “Your mom said you’d be here.”
That made you part from him. “You called my mom?”
“Needed to know where to go.”
The mere idea of Stiles visiting you at your dad’s made you giggle. Your dad didn’t hate him or anything, but he was the protective type and Stiles had always managed to get himself in the most ridiculous trouble, so your dad was weary.
A harsh gust of wind hit you, making you frown. It wasn’t uncommon for the night to grow colder, but it couldn’t have been that late. “Wanna come in?”
“Thought you’d never ask.”
Stiles closed the door himself, following you into the living room.
“Man, it’s just as I remember!”
You had to admit your mom took exceptional care of the house. She kept the furniture polished and the surfaces unblemished, just as she managed to keep every ornament around the place pristine; the Christmas ones included.
The tree was small compared to your dad’s, but your stepmom had always been known for going the extra mile. You would have stayed with them for Christmas if you didn’t love your mom and your sibling so much, and if you didn’t have to choose.
“When did you get here?” you asked. “Oh, you want something to drink?”
“This morning.” He welcomed himself into the kitchen and opened the fridge. A laugh escaped him. “Your mom still buys the same orange juice brand.”
“She refuses to change it.”
“Have you tried others?”
“Annie buys it fresh at the farmer’s market.”
He hummed. “It has pulp, though.”
“You can strain it.”
With a shrug, he grabbed a soda. “I, for one, don’t drink juice anymore.”
“Oh, you eat healthy now?”
“Ha ha, very funny.” He cracked the can of soda open as if to make a point. “Juice goes bad before I can finish it.”
“Set a reminder on your phone.”
“Is that what you do?”
“I live with other three people, Stiles, the juice runs out in like two days.”
He hummed. “How’s that working out for you, by the way?”
“It’s okay,” you answered truthfully. “Kinda weird to have another sibling, but… she’s a sweet kid.”
Stiles stared at you as though reading you. It wasn’t your favorite trait of his if you were completely honest, but it came with the package. “I guess I have it easier.”
“Eh. I’m sure I live in the better city.”
He rolled his eyes. You always had this silly fight and always came on top because not much could defeat San Francisco.
“Is it getting cold or am I going crazy?”
“It’s a little colder than when I got here,” he agreed.
You went through the cupboards, looking for tea or coffee. You hated the instant coffee your mom bought out of habit, so you would have to settle for green tea.
Stiles laughed at your raccoon-like behavior. He inhaled deeply. “I was—” His phone started ringing. “Give a second.”
You nodded and turned back to your tea-making task.
“What’s up, dad?” Worry seeped into Stiles’ voice; not uncommon when it came to his dad —or Scott—. “Snowing? Are you drunk?” At that, you turned around and saw him wince. “Sorry. No, no, I’m at— yeah, I’m with her.”
You peeked through the kitchen window and sure enough, the patio was covered in glittering snow.
His eyes widened when he saw the snow falling. “Yeah. Call me if—” Stiles huffed a laugh. “Okay. Be safe.”
The wind picked up, making you shiver. The house had never been this cold before.
“Fuck. What are we going to do?” He gripped his hair, now a little longer and shinier. You supposed he started taking care of it. It would fall off if he continued tugging on it as though the world was ending.
“Stiles.”
“What?”
“It’s fine. The snow will melt eventually, we’re not stranded in the wild.”
“Oh. Yeah.”
“It’s okay.” You patted his shoulder. “I can make us something warm to drink. Are you hungry?”
“Not really. Maybe later?”
“Sure.”
You both sat on the couch. Stiles continued sipping on his soda while telling you about one of his dumb classmates.
He seemed distracted, but then again, Stiles always seemed to have a lot in his mind.
“When was the last time it snowed here?”
You should have known he was thinking about that. “The seventies, I think.”
“It just doesn’t make sense.”
You had to agree. Things had stopped making sense in that town long ago. Even your mom, who loved Beacon Hills more than life itself, thought so.
Stiles knew of her borderline obsession with the town, how it ruined her marriage because she couldn’t accept your dad’s desire for a better life, a good career. “Has your mom mentioned anything weird going on?” he insisted. Now full-on detective mode.
“Like magic or…? She hasn’t, to be clear, but you gotta be more specific.”
“Well, it’s more complicated than that. Even if you call it magic, what kind of magic? Is it for nefarious purposes? Are they just pranking the town? Do they have the ability to cause more harm?”
Your eye twitched. “I'm going to bite you if you don't shut up.”
“Maybe I'm into that.”
“How romantic of you,” you grumbled.
You left that place because of all the supernatural bullshit and it still found some way to torment you the few times you visited.
It was a painful reminder of why you only liked small aspects of the town — you were even on the fence when it came to most people. Finding a sense of community was hard in Beacon Hills but your mom insisted otherwise.
"I wish I hadn't come," you admitted out loud. "Why did I listen to mom?"
"Come on, that's unfair. It's just the weather."
"Caused by a fucking curse or something worse! What if someone brought the apocalypse? I haven’t even graduated, and I will die here!"
You supposed he was used to it. His adventures, if you could call them that, had been some kind of fucked up exposure therapy.
There was a reason you never were part of the group, no matter how fond of Stiles you were or how sweet you thought Scott to be — you couldn't come with the things they went through on the daily.
Even hearing about it had been anxiety-inducing. Living it? No, thank you.
"I miss like fifteen minutes ago when I was the one freaking out."
"I miss when things were normal around here.”
"Hey.” He reached over, resting his warm hand on your knee. “I'm here. It's just you and me, okay? Whatever is going on — it can't hurt you. I won't let it."
You would have believed him if the lights didn't flicker for a second.
When the power didn't go out, he smiled at you. "See? Everything's fine."
"That's a stretch."
Stiles tilted his head, observing you. “Do you really hate this place?”
“I—” You pursed your lips and shrugged. “Hate might be too much, but sometimes I wish I could just leave it behind.”
“Ah, it’s not so bad.”
“Says the guy who visits once a year.”
He lifted his hands in surrender.
The cold started to become unbearable in mere jeans and a shirt. You made sure the windows were closed, and as you locked one, you saw just how thick the layer of snow had become.
Not a single inch of the driveway could be seen. “Holy shit.”
There was no way anybody would be able to leave their houses. If they were lucky enough to be home.
Stiles stood behind you, trying to see just what had shocked you so much. “Oh, man.”
“You think… you think this could be fixed?”
“I don't know,” he admitted. “It has to, obviously, but…”
You nodded. It wasn't his fault. “I'll bring some blankets.”
“I'll make you some tea. You're shivering.”
You didn't realize until he told you, but you were in fact shivering.
Finding winter clothes wasn't as easy, and the blankets hadn't even been unpacked from the vacuum-sealed bags your mom kept in the closet.
You were too cold to move properly. The insulation helped with the heat in the summer, but for some reason, it had nothing on the cold.
You dropped some of the blankets through the stairs, scared you would fall if you attempted to carry all of them. Stiles picked them up and quickly laid a couple on the sofa.
“Your tea is ready,” he said softly. That worried tone of his appeared once more. “Come.”
You handed him a pair of sweatpants you snatched from your sibling's room and one of your hoodies. “These should fit if you want to be warmer.”
“Drink that,” he instructed you. “I'll be right back.”
You hugged the mug between your hands, warming up your fingers. The steam hit your face as you brought the mug closer to your mouth, making you aware of how cold the tip of your nose had gotten.
Your first sip didn't do much, but by the third one, you started to feel better. You didn't even know Stiles knew how sweet you liked your tea, but it was perfect.
He was back quickly, sitting beside you and draping one of the thickest blankets over both of your laps.
“Better?”
You hummed, reaching over for the TV remote. “Wanna look for something to watch?”
“Yeah.” He took the remote from you. “Let's see…”
Somehow, you ended up watching a baking contest. As the show continued, you and Stiles got closer looking for more warmth.
He laid on his back. You allowed him to rest his calves on your lap which earned you an incredulous gaze from him.
“Don't be ridiculous,” he told you. “Come here.”
You gave him a wary look. He insisted. You struggled, but you did as he said and laid on top of him, bringing the blanket with you as a cape.
Stiles fixed the blanket on top of you and snuck his hands between the fabric and your sweatshirt. Inhaling deeply, he said, "You smell good."
"I'm trying this perfume out, see if I finally find the one."
"The one perfume, or...?"
"Yeah,” you laughed. “What else?"
"You know, the one."
"Oh, that. Might be too late. Or too soon, who knows? But... doesn't feel plausible right now." You fixed your eyes on the TV where one of the contestants had just burnt caramel. “What an idiot,” you criticized, not truly meaning it. You had never made caramel before in your life, you probably never would attempt to.
Stiles, being Stiles, didn't let you change the subject. "Why not? School?"
"I don't give a shit about school, Stiles. It's nice to have friends and you know, have fun. Things just never work out in the more-than-friends aspect."
"That's great,” he exclaimed in glee.
You lifted your head off his chest. "What?"
"Shit, no, I didn't mean it like that." He fisted your sweatshirt from the back to keep you in place. “I had it all planned, you know? But the snow and its weirdo master or whatever caused this had to ruin it.”
“Ruin what?” you asked softly, afraid you would start assuming nonsense if he didn't explain himself.
“We were supposed to go to Santa's village and ride the Ferris wheel, and I was going to tell you there, maybe bribe the guy so he got us stuck up there for a while… we would look at the town from above and it would have been very romantic, actually.”
“Romantic,” you repeated.
“I really like you," he sighed out. "It's kind of an understatement if I'm being honest.”
So it wouldn't have been nonsense after all. "I... I like you too. Have for a while."
"Yeah?"
You hummed. "I thought it was obvious."
"I thought I was being obvious."
You shook your head. Stiles never gave any indication that he was interested in you, not in that way. He was always nice and considered your opinions, but you chalked that up to being good friends.
"I need to start being obvious, then." His hand came up to the back of your head. "Can I kiss you?"
You kissed him first, resting your hands on his chest. Stiles smiled into the kiss, pushing your face closer to his.
As you both parted for air, he said, "We'll figure it out, right?"
You could only assume he was referring to the distance. "I hope so."
"Let's enjoy these days first," he suggested, for once not being the one to worry. "We should probably make some phone calls, and find out what's going on with the snowstorm." He gave you a quick kiss. "Later, though."
You laughed but agreed. Stiles and you spent the evening sharing lazy kisses and chaste touches, sure you would eventually have enough time to do everything more and the small things in between.
Maybe snowstorms weren't so bad.
Oh, who were you kidding?

Catering to the food movie, 'The Taste of Things' serves up a mouthwatering feast
Tumblr media
NEW YORK
Think of food and movies and your mind could quickly whip up a five-course meal. Maybe a few hard-boiled eggs, to start, from “Cool Hand Luke.” A side order of toast from “Five Easy Pieces,” followed by the soup from “Ratatouille.” A main course of octopus from “Oldboy.” And let’s wash all that down with a $5 shake from “Pulp Fiction.”
Since before Charlie Chaplin made bread rolls dance in “The Gold Rush,” cinema and cuisine have been as intertwined as the spaghetti of “The Lady and the Tramp.” But a real food movie — one that doesn’t just stop for noodles (“In the Mood for Love”) or take a trip to Katz’s (“When Harry Met Sally…”) — is a rarer delicacy.
Tumblr media
Those movies that fully invest themselves in the making and consuming food are more all-your-eyes-can-eat buffets. Films like “Tampopo,” that wildly erotic ode to ramen; “Babette’s Feast,” with its sumptuous banquet; and “Eat Drink Man Woman,” Ang Lee’s nourishing family meal.
It’s a rich and savory tradition that gets a delicious new serving in Trần Anh Hùng’s “The Taste of Things.” If ever a film was a feast, it’s Hùng’s. The movie, starring Juliette Binoche and Benoît Magimel, opens with a glorious 40-minute scene set in a late 19th century French country kitchen where a meal is being prepared.
Tumblr media
Butter is sizzling. Loins of veal are roasting. Fresh crayfish are peeled. A fish is gutted. Soup bubbles. Few words are said but the kitchen hums. Utensils clank. Merengue burns. Steam rises.
There’s no music but it’s a symphony. Eugénie (Binoche), the right-hand woman of top chef Dodin Bouffant (Magimel), works with quiet, assured mastery. It’s as riveting as any action-movie set piece.
“I told my crew: This is my car-chase scene,” says Hùng.
Tumblr media
Hùng, the 61-year-old French-Vietnamese filmmaker, traces his love of cinema to his father, who would come home in South Vietnam with detailed descriptions of movies he had seen at the cinema, riveting Hùng. But his mother’s kitchen, he says, “gave me my first feeling of beauty.”
“The Taste of Things,” which opens in select theaters Friday, isn’t just about cooking. Like most movies about food, its appreciation of cuisine has as much to do with love and art as recipes and ingredients. Loosely inspired by Marcel Rouff’s classic 1924 novel “The Passionate Epicure,” “The Taste of Things" unfolds as a later-in-life love story, one with added poignance since Binoche and Magimel were, themselves, a couple 20 years earlier.
Tumblr media
To Hùng, who recently spoke by phone during a trip to Vietnam (he lives in Paris), his mouthwatering opening scene, in all its sensory pleasures, is a paean to cinema.
“In musicals, it’s about harmony and the expression of love and pleasure,” says Hùng. “All of this was inside of me and I wanted to express it in this first scene in the kitchen where people move a lot. The level of gesture is enormous. How they move combined with complex camera movement, that came from musicals for me.”
Tumblr media
France selected “The Taste of Things” as the country’s Oscar submission over the much-celebrated “Anatomy of a Fall." At last year’s Cannes Film Festival, it won best director for Hùng.
Hùng’s 1993 Oscar-nominated breakthrough “The Scent of Green Papaya” was likewise lush in atmosphere and sensuality. But while he admires some of the classic food movies — “Eat Drink Man Woman” especially — he doesn’t often feel they express what he wanted to accomplish with “The Taste of Things.”
Tumblr media
“Today, I think films are really poor in cinema. Most of the time, it’s a theme of an important topic of the world today and then wrapped in very poor cinema. It looks like an illustration of a story,” he says. “To me, there is nothing to eat in that. I don’t feel full when I watch that type of film. There are too many like this. You can win the Palme d’Or with a very poor quality of cinema in the movie.”
Many reviews of “The Taste of Things” have come with a warning: Do not see this film on an empty stomach. But Hùng supplies no such caution.
Tumblr media
“No, I think it’s interesting to be hungry, and waiting for the next meal,” he says, chuckling. “I never get panicked when I get hungry. I like to listen to it and wait so that what I have later is more delicious.”
Foodie photographs of a perfect plate have long been popular fodder for Instagram — the kind of gastronomy lampooned in the 2022 haute cuisine satire “The Menu.” But “The Taste of Things” is earthy and grubby. The food — none of which was artificially enhanced to look better — was all real. Famed French chef Pierre Gagnaire designed the dishes that were cooked on location by Michel Nave. For the film’s final meal, in which a triumphant pot-au-feu is prepared, some 90 pounds of meat were used.
Tumblr media
Suffice to say, the cast and crew of “The Taste of Things” ate well.
“Everything we did was real,” says Hùng. "So at the end of the day, we had to eat everything. No waste at all.”

Okay but it's always so wild to me how much food plays a huge factor in class disparity in the US in ways it just doesn't in many European countries. Like a lot of other countries don't have this concept of like "health food" being super expensive and treated like a luxury.
Non-Americans love to mock us for eating super processed foods but it's genuinely really fucking difficult to find fresh fruits, vegetables, etc. that aren't expensive enough that you can't just regularly buy them in variety. I was genuinely shocked that most of my friends from europe get their usual bread from bakeries and not the pre sliced/processed ones we usually see here.
And like when you look at the prices for fresher stuff it's like "what do you mean this isn't that bad" but you have to take into account the shelf life. Processed foods last much longer so you only need to buy more every few weeks depending on how many people are eating something, whereas you need to replace fresh food after a few days. You also need to take into account transportation because the US is designed for cars not for public transportation or foot traffic and when people who can drive are working full hours going to the store every few days just isn't an option.
And sometimes (a lot of the time) you're too tired to cook after working so long and you get takeout instead.
And that's not even getting into food deserts (places where there's no grocery stores within an accessible distance but there are fast food places, this is an engineered problem and it's why many impoverished people eat "too much fast food")
Like my family's always been pretty fortunate because we've never been on food stamps and growing up we never had to go hungry but fresh food was still seen as a big luxury and we'd only buy a little here and there moat of the time we just eat processed foods because it's just kind of what poor people are allowed to eat here.
And a lot of people in the US have gastrointestinal issues and I think the way "healthfood" is gatekept is a huge part of it. Eventually I know if I ever get an actual income that I'm probably going to have to give up most of the foods I eat now because gluten free things are way more expensive because it's marketed as a fad diet rich people go on and not as an allergy.
I'm sure this isn't entirely linked to the US but it's just so weird to me when this kinda unspoken class signifier is so different in other countries

Home from work. (Husband!Sukuna x fem!reader)
I've been needing some comfort these last few weeks, as a lot has happened... I broke my foot, my relationship is up in the air, and then I had surgery that I'm recovering from as well.
So I needed Kuna Daddy for some little cute/fluff thing. Nothing naughty, just implied naughtiness. I own nothing of JJK Wordcount: 1358
Tumblr media
Today you were not having it. Everything just sucked. People sucked. Work sucked. Your boss sucked. The traffic sucked. Everything was just being toxic and awful and you wanted to sink away into the depths of a void to relinquish yourself to a crying mess. Walking into the front door of your home, you were ready for another wave of stress to hit you. House chores...
Tumblr media
Your husband's younger brother, Yuuji, was definitely a big help in babysitting your two kids, but, he wasn't the best at corralling them and keeping the home in one piece at the same time. Sukuna was having to work out of town these last few weeks, and that really took a toll on your sanity. The extra income was irresistible, but laying alone at night in that massive bed without your partner was getting more and more difficult to deal with each passing night. He originally denied going when the opportunity was introduced, not wanting to leave you alone for so long with the two toddlers but you encouraged that you would be okay. Having your assurance that you could survive without him for a few weeks, Sukuna left for his trip and Yuuji was able to come help when you had to work. It wasn't a shock that your husband knew you were clearly lying when you said you're more than capable of being without him for any amount of time.
Tumblr media
And, you were starting to wear down...you loved your babies, but you missed your man, desperately. The house had been a mess the last few days, as Yuuji wasn't the best cleaner, though he tried. The toddlers did take up a lot of his time and attention, but at least they were happy and in good hands while you were gone each day.
Tumblr media
As you walked in through the door, you immediately became cautious in your step, almost always tripping on a toy that was carelessly thrown by the door, being left as an object to cause you misfortune. Luckily, there was no toy there today, and it gave you a bit of relief. Taking your shoes off and setting them to the side, you let out a heavy breath and looked up to see the mess that was your home. Ready to pick up all the toys, to throw away the trash, to sweep, to mop, fix dinner, give the kids a bath, put them to bed, read them little stories, and then finally get a moment to yourself before the day started all over again.
Tumblr media
But, you saw no toys all over the floor. Hell, the floors even looked like they were swept and mopped already! And it was quiet...almost frighteningly quiet. Usually you heard your kids or Yuuji making some type of noise, but not hearing anything was alarming. A clean, quiet home? Was this your house or did you just meander into someone else's?
Tumblr media
"Yuuji??" Looking down the hall to the kitchen, a sudden aroma hit your senses and it smelled insanely delicious, capturing you in its delicacy. Had Yuuji cooked? He was a decent cook, but you never asked him to make dinner after watching the kids all day, as that certainly wouldn't be fair to him. As you rounded the corner to look into the dining room, your mouth slightly hung open when you saw the table adorned with flickering candles of different heights, beautiful and fresh bouquets of flowers in sparkling vases, and plates already set upon placemats with real food upon them. Most days it had been mac and cheese, hotdogs, chicken nuggets, or anything you could get the toddlers to eat and you would be so exhausted at the end of the day you would just eat the leftovers from their plates. Even the ambience in the room was calm and relaxing...the lights were dimmed, quiet, gentle music playing that didn't even have words, just instrumental to create a more romantic vibe.
As you remained frozen for a moment in a state of bliss yet complete confusion, hands came around your waist from behind, pulling your body backwards and gently into the firm chest that you could always identify even in the darkness. Oh that familiar scent of cologne made you weak in your knees, and the warm breath that was now tickling across your nape caused you to relax and sink into the man holding you from behind.
"I thought you still had a couple days til you came home..."
A simple, deep chuckle was the only response you got as your purse strap was gently pulled down from your shoulder, being replaced with warm and soft lips to kiss your skin delicately.
"I couldn't stay away from you any longer..."
Tumblr media
The velvety voice played into your ears and you hummed in delight, letting his fingers slide up under your shirt to caress your needy body, one he hadn't felt in a couple weeks and was desperately missing the touch. Goosebumps pricked all over your skin where he was leaving warm, wet spots from his lips, and you leaned your head back enough so you could look up to that gorgeous face that was now smiling back down to you.
Those beautifully darkened hues watched you ever so eagerly, as if not wanting to overlook a single detail on your face that he adored so preciously.
"I missed you, so much..." a soft whine left your throat as you struggled to maintain your composure, trying to stay strong so he would never regret his work. But, the evidence of the mundane cycle you were in these past couple of weeks was something you couldn't conceal however. You looked tired and exhausted, stressed and full of worry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I know you did, sweetheart." His voice was a delight to hear, so relaxing and it enveloped you with such comfort that any mishaps through the day could be easily forgotten.
"But...I also know you much you missed me in our bed. Those little toys just aren't enough, are they?" His devious laugh made your face burn with a feverish blush as you quickly turned to look at him while stammering in embarrassment.
"You forgot we have cameras in our home, didn't you?" A single finger kept your chin up and you looked to his face with bashful eyes, completely forgetting that, yes, after the toddlers came to be, the two of you set up security cameras in the home as a precaution, and they could be monitored from a cellphone or computer if needed.
"Hearing you oh so quietly moan my name almost every night while I was away was driving me insane...I had to come home so I could hear you scream it out instead. Give you the pleasure you deserve, sweetheart." You were so flustered and he loved it, having witnessed you almost every night pleasure yourself while thinking of your absolutely gorgeous and sexy husband, whimpering out his name and imagining him ravishing your body like only he could do.
"Y-you've been watching?" a mumble slowly came from your lips and he let a wide smirk take over his face to confirm the answer. "Every night...and don't worry darling, I gladly joined in with you, watching you on my screen while you were alone and intimate with yourself was so fucking sexy...But it was teasing me in such ways, how cruel of you."
His lips met yours and you wrapped your arms around his strong form, the absence of his warmth having been like an ache that nothing could quell. Those large hands you've yearned for clasped onto your waist gently, keeping you close to him to feel your breasts push up against his chest. Even if only through clothing at the moment, he was missing that satisfaction of supple and plush flesh.
"Anyway, sweetheart...I'm home now, and Daddy is going to take care of his baby girl, properly." The sultry growl through his lips onto yours made you weak and shudder in excitement and need.
"I sent the kids off with Yuuji for the night, got the house cleaned for you, and made your favorite meal...so its just us, and after dinner, you can be as loud as you want."
Tumblr media
Awww... 😭😭💖 I'd be so happy if Kuna came home from a work trip early to surprise me with all of this... And naughty boy, watching you like his own private show through the cameras. 🤤💕✨ Hope this gives someone else a little comfort also! 💖

“you have a package, y/n!” ghostbur called out just as you placed tommy’s breakfast in front of him. the ghoul’s words went completely ignored by tommy, whose gaze was solely focused on the beautiful stack of pancakes placed in front of him.
y/n smiled to herself. “you can bring it in, bur. i know who it’s from.” she shuffled syrup and butter over to tommy just as ghostbur came in with the fateful package.
tommy was already half way through scarfing down the stack of pancakes when y/n managed to open the package, ghostbur gazing over her shoulder. she took out a note set atop of the contents.
she read aloud, “y/n, i’m sorry i haven’t properly stopped by in a while. my work requires much of my undivided attention right now, which i’m sure you understand. please work your magic for me with the clothes included, and i will be sure to drop by for them and a meal soon. there are a few extra gifts included for you. i hope tommy isn’t burdening you. signed dream.”
“i’m not a burden!” tommy spoke offendedly through a mouthful of pancakes.
“you’re right, tommy,” y/n hummed, handing him a napkin to wipe some syrup off of his chin. “you’re perfect company.” tommy smiled to himself as he finished off his stack of pancakes. y/n sighed to herself, “clay really knows how to ruin a good piece of clothing..”
“so you and dream are close, y/n?” tommy grumbled, picking up his glass of milk.
she shrugged. “as close as you can be with someone you barely see.” she placed his battered clothes to the side, sighing again when she saw the rest of the contents of the box. tommy didn’t realize this, continuing with his questions.
“i remember that he respected your territory when he stepped into it,” he recalled. “he was going to kill me, but then he realized he was in neutral.”
y/n nodded. “when i made claimed this territory as neutral, i made a deal with everyone: i would mend and tailor anything you needed as long as you respected my territory as neutral.” she held up a box of diamonds and a smaller box of netherite to tommy’s view, making his mouth drop open with surprise. y/n held out another napkin to him for the milk that had sputtered out of his open mouth while ghostbur laughed into his hand. “clay is the only one who still tries to pay me.”
“with netherite?!” tommy exclaimed, letting out a surprised laugh.
y/n shrugged, seemingly not phased by the generous gift. “the nether..” she shook her head, placing the valuable materials onto the table, “is not a place i like to go. and most of this will probably be going toward dream’s armor, anyway.” she sighed, placing the gifts back into the box and laying the tattered shirts on top of them. “trust me, he’s still too kind for his own good with these sorts of materials.”
“how much netherite does that man have?” ghostbur scoffed, looking at how much was contained in the box.
“probably quadruple that amount,” y/n chuckled. “he has far too much free time.”
“and he doesn’t even spend it with you,” ghostbur sighed, shaking his head with a goofy smile.
“i know!” y/n spoke sarcastically before laughing out. she closed the box and set it under the table. “i’ll deal with that later. do you want any more pancakes, tommy?”
“no, i’m stuffed,” the teen yawned. “but thank you.”
she nodded. “well, then how about ghostbur shows you around the territory today?”
the boys perked up immediately. “really?”
“yeah,” she laughed, taking tommy’s empty plate. “you two can take the day to explore and have fun. go be a kid, kid.”
tommy excitedly looked up to his ghost friend. “fancy a game of ultimate tag?”
“you’re gonna get crushed,” ghostbur laughed before they both ran out of the house, laughing. y/n smiled.
“oh! i should make them lunch..”
...
“how big is this place?” tommy laughed after a few rounds of tag. they had found their way to a pond in a forested area, tommy deciding his knee needed a break after all of their running.
“it’s bigger than you think,” ghostbur assured, making sure to keep an appropriate distance from the water as they sat along the small shore. “y/n claimed the territory before l’manberg, so there really wasn’t any need for a turf war of any sorts for what she settled.”
“how long has she lived here?” tommy questioned.
ghostbur shrugged. “almost two years, i think. she’s made quite the life for herself since.” more to himself, he muttered, “god, has it really been that long since it happened?”
“since what happened?” tommy asked, leaning closer to his friend with sparkling, curious eyes.
ghostbur sighed, “i’ll admit, i don’t remember too much.. but i know there was a fight. one of the first wars of our time, and it was all over y/n.”
“they were fighting for her?” tommy spoke with confusion. “she’s not an object.”
“very good, tommy,” ghostbur prided, patting his friend on the shoulder. “you’re right, she’s not. that’s why y/n left her original home and sought to create neutral territory; to end the fighting and create a place where peace could reign. in exchange, she’d offer her goods and services.”
“so they were fighting over her for her skills,” tommy understood. ghostbur made a face. “..or not?”
“both sides obviously wanted her skills, but i think y/n tends to neglect the fact that they were all madly in love with her,” ghostbur sighed, shaking his head.
tommy raised his eyebrows. “a crime of passion, eh?” he joked, making them both laugh out before he asked, “who was it?”
“let me think,” ghostbur sighed, tapping his chin. “i know one was dream, but the other.. i think it was-”
“boys! lunch is ready when you are!”
tommy turned back to ghostbur. “well? who?”
ghostbur shook his head. “sorry, tommy, i don’t remember that far. that’s as much as i can tell you.”
tommy couldn’t help but fel disappointed, but he knew he couldn’t blame his friend. “that’s alright, ghostbur. let’s go get lunch before y/n comes looking for us.”
...
after lunch and an insistent rematch of tag, ghostbur and tommy made their way to the organized garden area.
“y/n grows anything you can imagine,” ghostbur bragged as tommy marveled as the fluorescent, beautifully natural area. “she’s been to nearly every biome to complete her garden.”
“you can grow cocoa?!” tommy exclaimed when he finally spotted y/n, who was swinging an axe at a low jungle tree.
“y/n found a way,” ghostbur shrugged, guiding tommy over to her. “hey, y/n!”
“hi, boys,” she smiled, plucking off the plant she had loosened from the tree. “was lunch good? im sorry i didn’t stay and chat.”
“it was delicious,” ghostbur complimented, tommy nodding in agreement as his mind drifted back to the mouth watering coleslaw and toasted sandwiches she had prepared.
“that’s good!” she smiled, placing the cocoa plant on the ground. “you boys may want to step back.” they did as told as y/n swung her axe over her head, splitting the cocoa clean in half and revealing the delicious beans inside of it. “voila!”
ghostbur clapped politely. “thank you,” y/n laughed, dropping her axe and picking up the split plant. “would you boys like a sample?”
“sure,” tommy shrugged, stepping forward with ghostbur. he picked out a few beans before popping them into his mouth. breaking through the semi-tough shell, the delicious, dark taste flooded his taste buds and made him nearly moan, as y/n’s food often did. he and ghostbur shared a look of satisfaction before he voiced, “oh, y/n.. they’re perfect.”
“that’s good,” she laughed before nudging her bucket closer to her and scooping the seeds out into it. “how has your day around the territory been?”
“entertaining,” tommy spoke before asking, “how did you get into gardening, y/n?”
y/n gave ghostbur a knowing smile before she answered the younger boy’s question, “i was tired of eating only meat and bread. gardening was a way to expand my diet to more than just carbs and proteins. also, it’s very calming.” they followed when she hiked up her bucket and moved to the next jungle tree.
“is it?” tommy questioned.
she affirmed with a nod. “it’s nice to be able to spend a day tending to things you made. the fruits of your own harvest are the sweetest, they say.” they watched as she knocked down another cocoa plant.
“they are,” tommy nodded solemnly, his mind drifting to a sadder, more familiar place. “that’s why i miss l’manberg.”
y/n was barely surprised by the boy’s open confession. she tossed her axe down again, going to place a hand on tommy’s shoulder. “i know you do, tommy, and i know it’s rough right now. but what we’re playing here is a waiting game; we’re waiting for a safe opportunity to get you home, and in the meantime, i’ll take care of you, kid.”
tommy offered you another nod and a smile. “we?”
y/n gave him a kind grin. “im going to help you as best as i can from where i am. and i know that’s not much from me, but i know that everyone deserves a home that they love. and you can’t get there alone, kid.”
“you’re right about that,” tommy sighed before looking into her kind eyes. “thank you, y/n. your help means a lot.”
she squeezed his shoulder. “of course, tommy. you and ghostbur go explore some more; try to keep your mind on the things you can control.” she picked her axe back up.
tommy looked to the pitying ghoul beside him before looking back to y/n, a new thought fresh in his mind. “can you teach me how to cook?”
y/n grinned as she lifted her axe over her head again. “of course i can, tommy.”
tommy smiled as she cracked open the plant. he looked back to ghostbur. “wanna go for a swim?” the ghost shot him a fearful look. “im kidding! im kidding, let’s go use some pigs for target practice.” they both began to walk off, chatting and giggling before tommy turned and called, “y/n!” she looked up attentively. “what’s for dinner?”
she smiled. “i was thinking ribs!”
tommy’s mouth watered at the thought. “oh my god, i can’t wait to learn how to cook..”

It Means Nothing
So I don’t EVER write fan fiction because I’m not good at writing other people’s characters and them being OOC drives me bonkers but I couldn’t get this out of my head.
KyojuroxReader SFW; slight angst? Y/N is also a Hashira
She breathed a sigh of relief seeing the Rengoku manor within walking distance, “Finally home Kyojuro, how is your shoulder?”
“It is a little sore but it will be all right. I’ve had worse.” He grinned. “If you hadn’t chopped his arm off at that last second I wouldn’t have had such a clean shot to cut off his head.”
“That’s enough praises out of you.  I’ll help you rebandage it after we get cleaned up.” She pushed the doors to the estate open and let him go through first.
“Brother! Y/N!” Senjuro ran from an open room and jumped off the porch, running over to them he hugged Kyojuro who laughed and hugged him back. “You’re home! Thank goodness! Are you okay?”
“We’re back safe Senjuro!” Kyojuro assured him with a grin.
“I’m so glad! I missed you both!” He let go of Kyojuro and hugged Y/N, she hugged him back, “I missed you too.” She kissed his forehead and Kyojuro beamed, his heart filling with joy seeing how happy Senjuro was in her arms. Y/N softly stroked the young boy’s fire tipped hair, “You must have been lonely.”
“I...it’s been all right, I’m just glad you’re home, are you both okay? Are you hurt?”
Kyojuro’s stomach twisted seeing his little brother’s hesitation, and the reminder that he was in this big house practically all alone all the time. “I’m sorry Senjuro. And only a little scratch, nothing to worry about!”
“Oh! No, it’s okay brother, you’re fulfilling your duties as a Hashira, it’s important!” He moved back from Y/N’s hug and gazed up at his brother.
Kyojuro touched Senjuro’s cheek softly, “We’re done with our duties for a while, so we get to be home for a couple of days.”
“I’m glad, are you sure the wound isn’t bad? You’ll be okay?” Senjuro’s eyebrows creased.
“I promise.” Kyojuro beamed at him. “I smell something delicious, what are you cooking Senjuro?”
He smiled softly, “Sweet potatoes and salt grilled bream.”
“Wahoo! You are an amazing little brother!” Kyojuro walked towards the house, “I’ll be right back, I’m going to report to father. Go ahead and start without me!”
“Kyojuro wait,” she called after the Flame Hashira, remembering something that had been eating at her thoughts for some time now. Kyojuro turned to her, “Hm?”
“I want to meet with Shinjurou, after you’re done checking in that is.”
Kyojuro’s smile fell, she had never met with Shinjuoru, or even seen him. Despite spending most of her free time at the Rengoku Mansion when they weren’t on duty. Even when she had dinner with them Senjurou took his father’s food to his room for him, he didn’t join them. She of course knew the stories about him as the previous Flame Hashira, and Kyojuro after some time had been willing to tell her about his childhood, so she knew about his mother, she’d never seen the ex-Hashira. Even though she was a Hashira herself, and she and Kyojuro had been together for almost a year.
“Why?”
She gave him a sly grin, “To ask for your hand in marriage of course.”
Kyojuro’s face flushed, “W-WHAT!? But you’re not supposed to--”
She laughed as Senjuro stared up at her wide-eyed, “I’m kidding! I’m kidding!” Y/N ruffled Senjuro’s soft hair with both hands, “Besides, I’d ask Senjuro’s permission before anyone else’s.” She paused, “I’ve never properly introduced myself to him even once, I want to meet him face to face. He’s your dad and a former Hashira, it’s rude for me to come over and not greet him.”
“Those kinds of things don’t matter to him Y/N, there’s no need to greet him.”
“Brother’s right, and Dad’s been in a really bad mood lately…”
“I’m a Hashira, I’m not afraid of the bad temper of a fellow Hashira.” She met Kyojuro’s eyes, determined. “Please let me talk to him, Kyojuro.”
He nodded, “All right, come on then. We’ll be right back Senjuro!”
“Okay.” He answered timidly, “I’ll set the table.” She let him go and follow Kyojuro.
“What’s the real reason?” Kyojuro asked once they were both no longer in earshot. Y/N looked up at him with raised eyebrows but he was looking at her with a concerned expression.
“I’ll tell you afterwards, I can tell you’re wanting to talk me out of it, and I need to do this.” She paused and cupped his chin between her fingers, “No matter what happens, or what you hear, don’t come into the room. I don’t mind if you listen in, but I don’t want you in there. I don’t want him lashing out at you, I want his focus on me.”
“But it’s okay for him to lash out at you? Y/N-”
“I’ve endured worse than anything your father could ever do to me.” She pushed her fingers against his lips, “Kyojuro you can’t keep waiting for him to pick himself up, you’re an adult now, and he’s still lying in bed. He can’t break out of this alone. Besides, he’s not an evil monster, he’s just a man in pain.”
“You’re right.” He sighed, kissing her fingers he pulled them to the side and softly kissed her, she kissed him back.
“No matter what he says or what you hear, stay out. Just listen.”
“All right.” He rubbed his thumb against her cheek.
She kissed the inside of his palm and walked with him to Shinjurou’s room, she kneeled down outside the door and listened as Kyojuro gave his report and dismissed him. He looked back at her and she motioned for him to come out. Kyojuro bowed to his father’s back then stood and walked out. She walked into the room and slid the door shut behind her, keeping it open only a small crack. She walked over to the bed and kneeled down. She knew Kyojuro was kneeling right next to the door, and she just hoped he really would stay put. She took a deep breath, feeling the extra flow of her total concentration breathing constant and looked back at Shinjurou, staring out at the garden with an open book beside him and a jug of sake as well. The smell of the alcohol coated the room.
“Get out. I didn’t ask to speak to you.”
“No.” She answered calmly, “ Why did you tell Kyojuro that being the Flame Hashira means nothing?”
“Don’t back talk to me girl! What I tell my sons is none of your business!”
“It is my business when what you’re saying affects someone I love. Did you tell him that because being a Hashira didn’t provide you with a way to actually save her?”
Shinjurou grabbed his jug and hurled it at her. She let it hit her, “GET OUT OF HERE! WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT IT!?”
She didn’t move, the jug shattered and covered her in sake, she kept her fists on her thighs, even though the jug hit her forehead it somehow missed striking her eyes. Eyes that she bore into Shinjurou with determination, his eyes widened as he realized she wasn’t dodging and had just taken it to the face. Blood cracked down her face,  “I know that she had great pride in you as a Hashira and a Dad, because why else would Kyojuro work so hard to obtain it.” He reached for her and she grabbed his arm, not flinching, “I know how much it hurts to be so utterly helpless as the person you cherish fades away, and not being able to do anything. You feel like your entire body is being destroyed from the inside and it hurts so much to feel you’d do anything to be numb. To feel the poison in your chest every time you have to look at a true monster who’s still alive when you lost someone who was pure love and kindness and did nothing but good in their life.” She flattened her hand so it was resting against his, and placed her other hand on his wrist, his body shaking as he glared at her, “I know that she left you two amazing, beautiful sons that emanate her because everything Kyojuro does he does because of her. They’re not just your sons, they were hers too, they have her in them, and I can’t just sit by and keep watching you punish them for that by removing yourself from their lives and being so hostile towards them. How can you love her and yet be so cruel to the two people she blessed you with? The only two things in this whole world that are left of her? Your sons only have love for you, in spite of everything and you are the only person who can show them the full magnificence of their mother, she deserves to be allowed to still exist here, and I wish you would bring her back into their lives. I know you’re afraid of losing them, I can’t imagine how terrifying it must be for you every time Kyojuro leaves on an assignment. But you can’t protect him lying in here reading. You can’t be a bystander in his life and still hope to protect him.”
Shinjurou glared at her, frozen, but his eyes getting moist. She put her hands down and gently pulled herself from his grasp, “Excuse me.” She whispered, bowing before getting up and walking out of the room, not looking at him so she doesn’t see that he’s still frozen in place. She slid the door shut and looked down at Kyojuro who was staring into the room, tears in his eyes, he looked up at her, being brought back to the present as she moved the door. She kneeled down and gently cupped his face in her hands, wiping his tears away she gave him a gentle reassuring smile, now noticing that her body was shaking with the confrontation being over. She was feeling so many things she couldn’t quite figure out which feeling was making her tremble. She could tell Kyojuro was trying to figure out what to address first, her shaking, bleeding or that she was drenched.
“I’m fine, Tanjiro’s not the only one with a hard head, but some fresh clothes would be appreciated.” Kyojuro hugged her and led her to his room where he gave her one of Mitsuri’s old training outfits. She changed and then cleaned up her face, Kyojuro insisting on helping her bandage the cut running diagonally across the center of her forehead.
“Y/N you should have stopped it--I should have stepped in--”
“I needed to get my point across, and he needed to know I wasn’t trying to fight him.” She smiled, “I just hope he at least considers what I said. Your Dad is still alive, by some miracle given all the sake he drinks, and I just...I know you want your Dad back, and I want to do everything I can to bring him back to you. He might not listen to me still, but it was worth a shot.” She ran to the door, “Senjuro Kyojuro said he didn’t want his sweet potatoes and I can have them!” She grinned and ran out of the room.
“Hey wait a minute I did not! Senjuro don’t listen to her!” Kyojuro raced out of the room after her. He managed to get to the dining room just seconds after she did and tackled her, pinning her down, “Those are mine!” She hit him in the stomach with her knees knocking him off as Senjuro came into the room with a fourth plate. “I’ll be right back, I’m going to take--” Senjuro froze as he looked at the door, Shinjurou stood there, he looked at Y/N and Kyojuro. The pair immediately sat up properly.
“D-Dad?” Senjuro stuttered.

Tumblr media
hanma often didn’t come home until the late hours of night. he spent most of his time doing god knows what, but always came home covered in the scent of perfume and booze.
it upset you. not just the idea that he was slowly drowning himself in these things, but also the idea that he was out with other women. you weren’t his girlfriend, hell, you two had never even had any romantic interactions. to him, you were just his housemate that worried too much. worried about his whereabouts and worried about his self care.
you made him food, it was often left on the table, cold. but it always made your heart warmer when you would wake up in the morning and see that hanma ate it. occasionally, he would leave a note saying thank you or that it was good.
tonight you did your usual routine. made food, being sure to make an extra plate for him and then watched tv until you got tired. you were extra sleepless tonight. the job you held was stressful and overwhelming and was made 10x worse when your boss decided he wanted to be an asshole today. you just wanted company and yet, your housemate was out. probably getting drunk and having the time of his life with some girls at the bar.
the doorknob twisted and the sound of clattering keys being dropped then slowly picked up at met your ears. there were a few muffled curse words and the noise of someone struggling to open the door but eventually it opened. hanma looked tired, eyes widening slightly at seeing you still awake. he smelt the same as usual, dressed in a white, silk dress shirt. about five buttons undone to expose his large chest full of intricate tattoos. he also had on loose black slacks and nice black dress shoes that had actually been a gift from you.
he smelt strongly of sake and you realized that he must’ve gone down to the karaoke bar which had the “best sake you’ll ever taste”. so he was out with girls.
“wait in’ for me?” he chuckled, smiling at the table that had a once hot bowl of ramen on it.
“i’m surprised you’re home so early.”
“and i’m surprised you’re up so late.”
you tossed him a half hearted glare. hanma always treated you like a mom, some middle aged lady who goes to bed at 9 and works on her feet all day.
“thank you for the food, sweetheart. looks good,”
the compliments he left on notes always made your stomach flutter but hearing them in person nearly caused you to have a stroke.
“it’s probably cold again.”
you tried to brush off your flustered behavior with the comment but it didn’t come out as annoyed or strict as you wanted it to. he heated the food up, and you let him eat in silence. assuming he was too tired to want to talk and would just go to bed straight after. of course, you were wrong.
he finished his food and put the bowl in the sink before sitting down on the couch next to you.
“it was delicious, thank you.” he sent a grin your way, throwing his arm over the back of couch and watching the cheesy slasher film you had playing.
“it would’ve tasted better if you had it hot and fresh” it came out angrier than you wanted. deep down, you just wanted him to spend a couple days a week actually coming home on time and hanging out with you. by the way his head turned towards you, you knew you had fucked up.
“y’know being a fuckin’ yakuza member is no fuckin’ fun, you’re mad at me for going out and getting a lil’ drunk after spending my whole day fuckin’ killin’ people.” his glare hurt, but his tone hurt worse. you felt your eyes water slightly and turned away, both embarrassed and upset.
hanma noticed this. it sent a pang in his chest to see you look so hurt. he swallowed hard and looked around to find something to make you feel better.
“look... i’m sorry. it’s just been a long fuckin’ day,” he watched your expression. your eyes bore holes into the tv trying to avoid his gaze, face still upset.
“do you smoke?” he asked, reaching the drawer on the side table. his hands grabbed a bag of pre-grinded weed and rolling paper. you just shook your head.
his hands fumbled through his pockets for his lighter, finding it then beginning to roll a joint. his fingers worked quickly and expertly before lifting it to his face and licking the paper. sealing it with a slight smirk. his eyes lit up slightly as an idea popped into his brain.
“here,” he lit it, the smell filling the room.
“i said i don’t smoke.” you said, not bothering to look his way.
“you look tired, this’ll relax you, baby.”
the nickname gave you those annoying butterflies but you swallowed them away and kept a poker face.
“i have work tomorrow.”
“i thought you hated that shitty job,” he was right. you hated it and you hated this feeling that lingered after his lecture. you turned to face him, eyes still watery and a doe look coursed through them. his body filled with desire. stomach fluttering in a way that he hadn’t felt in years, the boyish feeling being something he left in his youth.
“i don’t know how.”
“it’s easy.” his words did nothing to ease your embarrassment and he caught onto that.
“c’mere, i’ll help you out.” he had this stupid smirk, so stupid that brought heat to your face.
you shifted closer. knee touching his, but it wasn’t enough. not what he wanted.
“closer, i can’t help you from there,” you stuttered out as he pulled you onto his lap. making you straddle his thighs. his yellow eyes met yours.
he put the joint in his mouth, breathing in the smoke, and let it sit on his tongue for a little before his hand grabbed your jaw. thumb pushing between your lips to open your mouth and then he exhaled. the smoke entered your mouth, the thick taste and smell clouded your brain for a second. you inhaled and stared at him.
“see? not too hard.” you laughed at that slightly.
“i didn’t do anything.”
he hand dropped down to your hips, rubbing circles as he took another puff. eyes wandering over your figure. he pulled you closer, letting the smoke drift between you two.
“i’m sorry for missing dinner. you forgive me now, hm?” handing you joint to take a hit before letting it sit on the table. hands moving to caress your thighs as his mouth met your neck. pressing sloppy kisses.
you placed your hand on his chest and pushed away slightly.
“i don’t wanna be one of those girls to you.” you said, shaky voice with how intimate he’s being. he chuckled at this. he laughed at this, hand grabbing your face as he rubbed your cheek.
“you think i would do that to you? are you fuckin’ dumb?” despite the seemingly harsh words, his tone was humorous and light. he wasn’t angry, just shocked. “you want me to stop seeing them, then i will, baby. you coulda’ just said that.”
hanma was fully serious. though a part of you worried that he would change his mind once he’s sober, his assuring voice and steady grip on you lifted those thoughts away. his hand guided your mouth towards his, kissing you gently but with a deep passion. other hand sliding up and down your body.
“let’s smoke some more, hm?”

The "Rumple Buttercup" situation (Matthew Gray Gubler/ Reader)
Tumblr media
Requested?: Yes!
Hi, I don't know if this is where you take request but I was thinking about a 2nd part to "The devils food cake" chapter about when they think of names they argue about the middle name being rumple (Matthew wants rumple to be the middle name (y/n) doesn't)
Category: Flufflies fluff. Hardcore fluff.
Summary: Matthew tries to convince his wife to name their first newborn "Rumple Buttercup."
Warnings: Zero. I don't think I even cursed on this one. But you have to know how to handle your fluff.
Word count: 2K
Masterlist
You can read the original one shot here
A/N: Hello! How is everybody doing this week? Sending love to all my pretty people 💜 I got so excited with this request I made this gif for it ✨
                                         ✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧
The house was oddly silent when (Y/N) walked in. She smelled the fresh baked cookies and... lavender? That was new. The place wasn't a mess when she left the house that morning, but it didn't look like that at all. Someone had been taking care of everything in her absence.
- "Matthew?"- (Y/N) walked in and took a look around. Everything was clean and in perfect order. It didn't loot at all like the house she had left that very same morning.
- "In the kitchen, Bunny!"- he announced with a cheerful voice and (Y/N) followed the delicious smell and the sweet voice of her husband.
- "Welcome back! How was your day with your mom?"
- "Hey! It was good. I had fun"- Matthew smiled at his wife as soon as he watched her walk into the kitchen and opened his arms to greet her with a warm hug.
- "I missed you, Bunny"- he whispered and kissed her lips sweetly, cupping her face with both hands, holding her cheeks, and caressing them with his lips.
- "I missed you too, honey."- (Y/N) murmured and sighed, enjoying the sensation of Matthew's hands on her.
- "And how's my little baby bean?"- he whispered, and his hands traveled from her face to her belly.
- "Baby Gub is kicking a lot today. I think he is having a rave in there."
The way Matthew's heart skipped a beat each time he heard the words "Baby Gub" killed him. He couldn't get over the fact he was going to be a father in four months. He couldn't believe it yet. It was his dream come true.
So, Matthew hummed in response and kissed his wife one more time before looking at her with a big adorable, and goofy smile.
- "I've got you a little surprise,"- he announced and held her hand
- "Really? I noticed you did some cleaning. Is that the surprise?"- (Y/N) asked as Gubler insisted she sat on a couch and helped her taking out her purple Converse.
- "That's part of the surprise,"- Matthew answered with a mysterious smile- "Now stay here and relax for a minute."
- "But no. Wait, stay here too, I missed you," (Y/N) argued, but Gubler just pecked her lips and walked back to the kitchen.
- "It will only be a second, Bunny! Meanwhile, tell me, what did you do with your mom today."
- "She took our baby bean shopping. Can you help me get a million bags from the car later?"
- "Sure!!"- Gubler yelled from the kitchen- "What did you get?"
- "Mom went nuts and got us so many baby clothes. I don't think our baby will have time to wear it all before it's too small for him."- Matthew chuckled at the idea of their baby wearing tiny socks that didn't fit on his little feet.
- "Then, she invited me for lunch and overfed me, but I can't complain, 'cos I was starving, and she took me to that little Italian place near to their house, and it's just so good! I think I ate my weight on garlic bread."
Matthew frowned and looked at the tray he was preparing. It had homemade cookies, a chocolate milkshake, one cupcake, and a heart-shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
- "So... you are not hungry?"- he asked, hesitant to bring his wife the snack he had prepared for her.
- "Starving, actually. Your son is gonna make me gain a million pounds."- Matthew smiled and grabbed the tray, walking with confidence back to the family room.
- "That's what I wanted to hear, 'cos I made this for you."
(Y/N) widened her eyes in awed, smiled at her husband when he stood by her side and placed the tray on her legs.
- "I cooked all your favorites while you were gone"
- "Matthew Gray, you are the sweetest husband on Earth"- (Y/N) raised her hands and reached his face, forcing him to lean over and kiss her.
- "What do you want?"- she whispered and smiled
- "What do you mean?"
- "I'm your wife. I've known you for the last... nine years. I know you are going to ask me for something"- Gubler gasped, pretending to be shocked and insulted, but (Y/N) shook her head and took a large sip of her milkshake.
- "Really, (Y/N). I can't believe you think I'm nice to you only because I wanna ask you for something."
- "So you won't?"- (Y/N) raised an eyebrow and chewed a cookie- "These are delicious, honey. Thank you so much."
- "no, you already broke my heart"- Matthew sighed and sat at the other side of the couch.
- "Oh, come on!"
- "I was just trying to be nice with my wife."
- "You are adorable. If I weren't pregnant already, I would actually ask you to knock me up"- Gubler tried not to chuckle but failed.
- "Come on, Gub, give me a smile"- (Y/N) giggled and looked at Matthew- "You know you want to smile."
- "Stop it."
- "Come on, honey"- (Y/N) reached out for his hand and held it- "Just tell me what it was that you wanted to ask me"- Gubler bit his inner cheek and sighed.
- "I hate that you know me so well."
- "It's part of the job of being your wife"- (Y/N) smiled pleased and grabbed another cookie- "So?"- she chewed the cookie and gave one to Matthew.
- "Ok... here's the deal"- Matthew ran his hands through his hair and made a pause, trying to rearrange his thoughts. (Y/N) looked at him, waiting and eating all the cookies on the dish.
- "I'm waiting."
- "Ok, so... we are going to have a kid"- Matthew stated- "And that kid has to have a name"- suddenly (Y/N) knew exactly where that conversation was going.
- "Yes, he has."
- "And we haven't talked about the baby's name"
- "No"- (Y/N) shook her head and crossed her arms on her chest immediately.
- "But I haven't even told you what I wanted to ask."
- "The baby's name won't be Rumble Buttercup."
Matthew opened his mouth to argue, and (Y/N) looked right into his eyes with a deadpan stare.
- "But why not?"
- "Are you serious, Matthew? You already have a "kid" named Rumple."
- "Yes, but it's different, 'cos he is my "first child book," and our baby is our firstborn child."
- "No"- (Y/N) shook her head again and grabbed the sandwich. Yes, she had eaten most of the day, but she really felt hungry. Maybe it was anxiety or cravings, but whatever it was, she just felt hungry the whole time.
- "Come on (Y/N), be fair here."
- "Ok, I'll be fair. Explain your case."
Matthew stood up and cleared his throat, ready to convince his wife. He fixed his hair, though it was a useless attempt to look a little more serious. If anything, he just made her want to laugh more, 'cos he was being adorable.
- "Ever since I was a little kid, I always dreamed about the day I could call my first son "Rumple Buttercup." Rumple is an old family name in the Gubler family, and I am sure naming our baby as his ancestors will assure him a life of happiness and love."
Gubler smiled at his wife, and (Y/N) nodded, chewing the last bite of the sandwich.
- "Who was called Rumple in the Gubler's family?"- she asked, and Matthew almost jumped, looking at her excitedly.
- "Excellent question, Bunny. You'll see, my great-great-grandfather, Rumple Buttercup Gubler, first arrived in America in early 1800, all alone with no family. And he built the first casino of Las Vegas."
- "In the early 1800"- (Y/N) raised an eyebrow and tried not to laugh.
- "He was a visionary. Don't you want our baby to be a visionary too?"
- "I do, I definitely do. But... can we talk about my great-great-grandfather? His name was Yertle, and he also had a vision. And a mustache!"- (Y/N) said and made her best not to laugh, as Matthew raised an eyebrow and bit his lips, trying not to laugh as well.
- "Yertle?"- he asked, crossing his arms on his chest- "Your great-great grandfather's name was Yertle?
- "Yes"- she nodded and smiled- "Yertle the Turtle. It's also an old family name, and most of the man in my family had carried that name after him".
- "I've never heard of one an "uncle Yertle" when we hang out with your family."
- "I've never heard of an "uncle Rumple Buttercup" when we hang out with yours."
- "He has been mentioned many times. All the Rumples of my family has been amazing men."
- "Just like our good old Yertle."
- "But I called dibs on the baby's name!"- Matthew failed and laughed at his own words and sat by his wife, huffing. (Y/N) giggled and rested her head on his shoulder.
- "What if we find a great name together?"- she whispered. Matthew held her hand and played with her fingers between his for a second.
- "Or we can call him Rumple."
- "Rumple Yertle Gubler"- she whispered and shook her head- "I'm not sure."
- "Rumple Buttercup Yertle Gray Gubler"- he corrected and chuckled- "Fine, let's find another name."
- "Thank you, honey"- (Y/N) smiled and sighed- "Wanna split the cupcake?"
- "Yes, please."
Matthew looked at his wife, carefully splitting the cupcake he had made for her, and took half. He could have had a whole tray of cupcakes, but that was the only one that didn't burn. Matthew wasn't really the best baker in the world, but he had tried his best. He wanted to do something nice for his wife. She hadn't been feeling good in the last few weeks. The baby kept her up most of the nights, moving and kicking. She couldn't really rest, and everybody kept telling her it wasn't going to be any better once the baby was born.
- "So... wanna think of names now?"- (Y/N) asked him with a smile- "Wanna think of another man with an amazing vision and incredible mustache to name our baby?"
- "Actually"- Matthew whispered and smiled- "I had a plan B in case you weren't on board with Rumple."
- "Really?"- (Y/N) frowned, wondering what was Matthew going to come up with now- "Suprise me."
- "Vincent"- there was a long silence after Gubler said that name. (Y/N) gave it a little thinking, running all the nickname options in her head.
- "Vincent Gray Gubler"- Matthew added the rest of the name- "What do you think?"
- "LIttle Vincent Gray Gubler... Vince, Vinnie..."
- "Like Vincent Price. He is an amazing man with a vision and an incredible mustache."
(Y/N) kept nodding as she finished eating her cupcake. Her husband turned to her and waited for an answer.
- "I love the name"- she whispered and grinned at Matthew- "What do you think, Vincent Gray?"- she asked, looking at her tummy.
- "Knock once for yes and twice for no"- Matthew giggled and caressed (Y/N) belly. And as if he could hear them, the little baby kicked her once. The Gublers looked at each other with wide-opened eyes, surprised and shocked by the quick answer of their unborn son.
- "It's settled then, Vincent!"- Matthew replied to the belly and kissed it- "You just picked your name!"
(Y/N) looked at her husband and moved closer, holding his face with both hands, and pulling him closer to her.
- "I love you, Gub"- she whispered and kissed him
- "I love you too, Mrs. Gub."
- "Thank you for putting a baby on my belly,"- she murmured, and he chuckled, caressing her hair and looking into her eyes, which were getting a little tearful at the moment.
- "Sorry, hormones"- she excused herself and chuckled- "I'm just so excited we picked his name."
- "I'm excited too, Bunny,"- Matthew whispered and kissed her one more time- "Now, what do you say I get you some herbal tea?"
- "I'd ask you to marry me, but you already did,"- she answered with a huge smile. Matthew kissed her one more time and stood up. Vincent Gray Gubler. Sounded like a dream.

Adventures in Cat Sitting
Synopsis: Tom is not a cat person, but watches your cat anyway
Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Hi baby.” You appeared in the doorway of the living room with a blanket wrapped around your shoulders and a nervous smile on your face. You had a big favor to ask of Tom and you already knew he wasn’t going to like it.
“Hi princess.” Tom sat up on the couch and noticed your face. “You look like you need something.”
“I might.” You shrugged as you sat down on his lap. He immediately wrapped his arms around you to keep you from falling off, clasping his hands together under your spine.
“Let me see if I can help you.” He chuckled as he tugged you closer by the blanket.
“So you know how I have to go away this week for my cousins wedding?” You began, slow as not to startle him.
“Yeah. I miss you already.” He pouted, making you laugh and kiss his lips.
“I miss you too, lover.” You ran your fingers though his hair. “So I was wondering if you could do me a favor.”
“Anything, Princess.” He smiled lazily at you. “What do you need?”
You tugged at his shirt for a moment and avoided eye contact, shrugging a little as if you hadn’t been planning this for days.
“Ineedyoutowatchmycat.” You said quickly.
“What?” Tom furrowed his eyebrows when he didn’t understand you.
“I need you to watch my cat?” You grimaced, finally looking at him. You knew how Tom felt about your cat from the many, many times he told you.
He wasn’t a cat person. Not at all. And your cat in particular seemed to be his sworn enemy. They never got along and you often had to hide him in another room when Tom was over.
“You mean he’s not going to be guarding the pits of hell?” Tom tilted his head in confusion, making you roll your eyes.
“He is not that bad.” You insisted. “You can survive a few days with him.”
“Uh Uh.” Tom shook his head firmly. “You know how I feel about cats. That’s my least favorite kind of pussy.”
Your jaw dropped as he laughed at his own joke, stopping when you smacked his arm.
“Don’t get fresh.” You scolded. “I just need you to watch my cat for a few days.”
“You don’t have a cat.” Tom disagreed. “You have whatever Pandora let out of her box.”
“Oatmeal is really sweet once he warms up to you.” You told him. “You haven’t spent enough time with him to do that.”
“Because every time I get close to him, he hisses at me.” Tom exclaimed.
“Not every time.” You said pointedly. “Just most times.”
“Can’t you put him in the kennel?” Tom whined, knowing he wasn’t going to get out of this.
“He’s not social and I haven’t found one I like.” You pouted, putting on puppy dog eyes to sway him.
“So drop it off in the forest for a few days and let it get some life experience.” Tom shrugged, earning himself another playful smack.
“Tom.” You groaned. “He’ll die out there.”
“We can only hope.” Tom mumbled under his breath.
“I think this will be good for you guys.” You ignored his comment. “You’re the two most important men in my life and I need you to get along.”
“How am I possibly on the same level as that heathen?” Tom held a hand over his chest like he was offended.
“I love you both so much and it kills me that you don’t get along.” You whined, stroking his cheek to pull him back.
“We’d get along just fine if he wasn’t such a bastard.” Tom snapped, making you gasp.
“How many times do I have to tell you not to call my cat a bastard?” You asked. This was a conversation you had had many times as it was Toms preferred nickname for you cat. Tom shrunk down on the couch and looked at the ceiling as he blew out an annoyed huff.
“Sorry.” He mumbled.
“This could be good for us too.” You assured him. “Watching a pet is an integral part in any relationship. I’m giving you all my trust.”
“You’re not giving me your trust.” Tom laughed sharply. “You’re giving me your fat ass demon cat.”
“Come on, please baby?” You jutted yourself bottom lip out. “Oatmeal might grow on you.”
“Aw. Like genital warts?” Tom smiled sarcastically.
“No.” You said flatly. “Not like genital warts.”
“Why do I have to watch him?” Tom complained like a child. “Why can’t you just leave him in a box with some food and water?”
“Would you like that if I did that to you?” You raised a skeptical eyebrow at him.
“If there was alcohol in the box, then yeah.” He shrugged. “I might just enjoy myself.”
You realized you weren’t getting anywhere and pulled away from him with a new approach ready.
“Fine.” You sighed and dramatically looked away. “If you don’t want to watch my cat, I’ll just have to find a boyfriend who will.”
You started to get up but Tom immediately pulled you back, making you giggle as he held on firmly. He had finally caved and you knew it.
“Woah woah wait.” He nuzzled into your neck and left kisses there before sighing. “I’ll watch your bastard child.”
“You’ll what?” You texted him.
“I’ll watch your precious fur baby.” He said through a fake smile. You twisted your body and wrapped your arms around him, kissing every inch of his face you could reach.
“Thank you.” You gushed. “You’re a life saver.”
“You’re welcome, darling.” He chuckled as he lovingly rubbed your back. “You better remember this if I ever need a kidney.”
“I don’t think the two things carry equal weight.” You tilted your head playfully and laughed.
“They don’t.” He agreed. “You’re welcome for letting you off easy.”
Rolling your eyes at your boyfriend, you decided not to fight back since he was doing you a favor. Instead, you opted for kissing him long and deep to show your appreciation.
“Thanks for doing this.” You mumbled against his lips. “I know you don’t like cats so I appreciate it. I owe you one.”
“Mind if I collect my toll now?” Tom smirked as he flipped you onto your back, making you laugh loudly.
“Not at all.”
Sunday
“This is his food.” You handed Tom a pink bag with whiskers stitched on. “He gets two cups a day, dry at morning and wet at night. He won’t eat unless you scratch him behind the ears after you put it in his bowl.”
“I’m not putting my hands anywhere near that thing.” Tom shook his head as he took the bag. “It has a bloodlust.”
Oatmeal was nestled in your arms, staring at Tom with a vengeance. Tom stared back with wide eyes, already feeling his pulse quicken.
“No he does not.” You cooed as you scratched Oatmeal behind the ears. “Make sure to keep an eye on his water bowl and never give him milk. It’s bad for his teeth.”
“Right. Wouldn’t want him losing his razor sharp little death traps.” Tom said sarcastically, seemingly speaking directly to the cat. “If he bites me, I’ll bite him right back.”
“Tom.” You sighed deeply. “I shouldn’t have to say this, but do not bite my cat.”
Oatmeal suddenly bared his teeth and hissed at Tom, making Tom gasp.
“Did you hear what he just said to me?” Tom exclaimed as he pointed to the cat.
“He’s just getting used to you, is all.” You shrugged as you set Oatmeal down on the ground. He took a careful step towards Tom before hissing again.
“He did it again!” Tom jumped into your arms in the style of Shaggy and Scooby. “He called me a slur.”
“No he didn’t.” You laughed as you set Tom down. “His treats are in the bag. Only one a day and none if he’s naughty.”
“I didn’t realize he had a setting other than naughty.” Tom sassed your cat, making him hiss once again. Tom looked at you for help and you sighed.
“Hey, behave.” You scolded Oatmeal as you stroked him. “His toys are in the bag too. He gets pretty feisty with the fish on a string so don’t go near him when he’s playing with it.”
Oatmeal jumped up on a chair and leaned towards Tom, peering at him as if extended an olive branch. Tom looked at you and you nodded, encouraging him to reach out towards the animal. Oatmeal leaned forward and sniffed Tom’s hand before snapping at him. Tom jerked his hand back and cradled it, though he wasn’t actually bitten.
“I don’t think I can do this.” Tom said suddenly. “He’s gonna put a hex on me.”
“Tom, please?” You whined when he went back on his offer. “I have to leave now and there’s no one else who can take him.”
“Give him to one of your friends.” Tom whimpered as he hid behind you. “What about Stacy? Don’t you hate her?”
“All my friends are either allergic or coming on the trip with me.” You pleaded with him.
“There has to be someone else who can watch this hell beast.” Tom spat as he shot daggers at Oatmeal. You chewed your bottom lip as you thought of way to keep him on board until something came to you.
“Well, my ex watched him a couple times.” You shrugged casually as you picked Oatmeal back up. “Maybe I can call him and-“
“I’ll watch the damn cat.” Tom cut you off, always the jealous type. “Come here baby.”
He cooed and walked towards Oatmeal, who swiped at him with his claws.
“Ah! Bitch!” He screamed and jumped away from
“Are you sure?” You innocently batted your eyelashes. “I’m sure he’d be more than happy to-“
“La la la la la.” Tom held his hands over his ears and sang loudly. “Enough about him. I’ll watch Oatmeal. It’s just two days right?”
“Four days.” You kept a smile on your face so you wouldn’t worry him.
“Four days?” He gasped. “How many people is she getting married to?”
“Just one. Who knows? If this goes well, maybe she’ll be flying out to my wedding soon.” You flirted as you held his chin between your fingers. This pulled a smile out of Tom, making him walk to you and wrap his arms around you. You fitted your face into the crook of his neck and left a kiss there, taking in your last few moments with him before you left.
“I’ll miss you, princess.” He mumbled as he rubbed soft circles onto your back.
“I’ll miss you too.” You sighed, resting your chin on his shoulder. You pulled away after a long time and kissed him, letting it linger until you couldn’t breath. You patted his cheek softly before bending down and petting Oatmeal.
“Amd I’ll miss you Mr. Fluffy Pants.” You cooed as you picked him up. “Who has the fluffiest pants?”
“I believe that’s his feline obesity.” Tom said sweetly as he narrowed his eyes at your cat.
“Funny.” You stuck your tongue out at him. “I’ll see you Wednesday.”
“Don’t be late.” He pouted, feeling his heart sink as you collected your things. You noticed his forlorn demeanor and hugged him again, taking in the scent of his cologne.
“How could I stay away from my baby?” You mumbled into his ear. You pulled away and jutted your bottom lip out before smiling wickedly.
“And I’ll miss you too.” You added as you pulled away. Tom rolled his eyes at you while you opened his door.
“Hilarious.” He replied sarcastically. “I’m laughing my-“
The door shut.
“-ass off.” He said weakly as silence settled into his home. He let out a sigh as he stared at the door, the smell of your perfume still lingering on his skin. He hated being apart from you, even if it was just for a few days. Tom’s reminiscing was cut short by a hatch meow from the floor. Tom jumped, having forgotten all about the cat he had promised to watch. Oatmeal stalked over to Tom and sat down in front of him as if to mock him.
“Listen you little whore.” Tom pointed an angry finger at the car. “I’m in charge. There will be no shenanigans this week, you hear me? Not one single shenanigan. That means no scratching the furniture, no shedding, and absolutely no napping in sunbeams. And I swear to God, if you piss on my rug, I’ll kill you. I will kill you with my bare hands. You hear me?”
The silence in the room was replaced with tension as Oatmeal silently stared at Tom with narrowed eyes. Finally, he let out a soft meow.
“Shut up.” Tom jumped again. “I’ll kill you.”
Oatmeal took another step towards Tom, making Tom take a step back. Oatmeal seemed to like this and sat down again.
“Why are you staring at me?” Tom snapped. “Do you want to fight?”
Oatmeal lifted his paw and put it back down, almost like he was stamping his foot. He let out a whine and took another step towards Tom, meowing towards the bag you had given him.
“Oh. It’s 6.” Tom realized. “You’re hungry, aren’t you?”
Oatmeal meowed again, louder this time.
“Don’t use that tone with me.” Toms voice cracked. “My beloved just left and I’m very sensitive right now.”
Oatmeal tilted his head to stare at him, silently judging Tom as he wiped away a tear. Tom composed himself quickly and went over to the bag you’d left, taking out Oatmeal’s pink bowls and bag of food. Oatmeal jumped up on the counter to watch Tom as he prepared the food, both of them sneaking glances at each other every once in a while. Tom stuck his tongue out at the cat before setting his food on the ground.
“Here you go, fatass.” Tom snapped, taking a step back when Oatmeal walked over to the bowl. Oatmeal sniffed the food skeptically before looking up at Tom as if he was waiting for something.
“I’m not scratching you behind the ears.” Tom scoffed with hands on his hips. “You’re not royalty.”
Oatmeal let out a howl and pawed at the bowl, demanding his ear scratches.
“Starve, then.” Tom shrugged. “See if I care.”
Oatmeal hissed at Tom, who responded with the middle finger. He kept his middle finger up and directed at Oatmeal as he walked out of the room, going into his bed room to calm down. After five minutes of thinking, he went back to the kitchen.
“After care consideration I’ve realized Y/n will break up with me if I kill her cat, which is fair.” Tom announced as he walked to Oatmeal. “That is why I’m doing this. Not because I care about you or your well-being.”
Oatmeal meowed softly and pawed at the bowl again, making Tom roll his eyes as he crouched down.
“Here are your little bitch scratches behind your little bitch ears.” Tom grumbled as he scratched the cat. Oatmeal purred in satisfaction before eating the entirety of his bowl. Tom backed away and watched him, smiling a little at how docile he seemed. He quickly wiped the smile off his face as Oatmeal finished and looked up at him.
“I need to call my brother about a script we’re writing, not that it’s any of your business.” Tom said as he looked at the floor. “Don’t bother me while I’m on the phone.”
Oatmeal didn’t pay any attention to Tom, instead busying himself with cleaning his left paw. Tom narrowed his eyes at the cat and huffed out an angry breath.
“Whatever. I know you care You just won’t admit it because you’re jealous.” Tom laughed bitterly as he stared daggers at Oatmeal. Oatmeal continued to ignore Tom as he began licking his other paw.
“You’re jealous that I have abs and you have a flabby cat tummy that drags on the floor.” Tom continued, determined to get the cats attention. “And we both know which one Y/n prefers.”
Oatmeal flicked his eyes to Tom before lifting a leg and licking his nether regions. Tom gasped and touched a hand to his chest in offense.
“You’re disgusting.” Tom spat. “I’m leaving.”
Tom turned on his heel and heard a meow from behind him as he walked away, resembling a taunting laugh.
“Don’t follow me!” Tom called once he got to his office. He sat down at his desk and rubbed his tired eyes before dialing his brother.
Forty minutes later, Tom and Harry were knee deep in their script. They had gotten to standstill, unable to come to an agreement with where to take the story.
“Right, right.” Tom nodded as he rested his chin in his hands. “I was thinking for - - oh for Gods sake.”
Tom’s attention was claimed by Oatmeal slipping in through the crack in the door, letting out a meow to announce his presence. Harry saw Tom’s jaw clench as he stared at the cat offscreen, leaning closer to the camera to get a better look.
“Was that a cat?” Harry asked as he watched his brother swat at something to his left.
“Hey!” Tom bellowed as Oatmeal jumped up on the desk. “No feet on the table!”
“Mate, who are you yelling at?” Harry tapped the screen repeatedly to get his brothers attention.
“Oatmeal.” Tom grumbled, jerking his neck at the cat as if to challenge him to a fight.
“Y/n’s cat?” Harry chuckled, knowing all about his brothers hatred of cats. “Why is he at your place?”
“Shes at her cousins wedding this week.” Tom pouted. “I told her I’d watch the furry bastard.”
“How’s that going?” Harry smiled teasingly, already having an idea of how it was going. Before Tom could answer, Oatmeal walked in front of his phone and knocked it down with his tail. He let out a proud purr as Tom picked his phone back up.
“Shut up!” He shrieked. “I’m on the phone!”
“Tom! Stop yelling at the cat.” Harry snapped his fingers at Tom. “I asked you how it was going.”
Tom tore his eyes away from Oatmeal, who had made himself comfortable in one of Tom’s desk drawers.
“Not great, man.” Tom shook his head. “Not great.”
Monday
“I’m home.” Tom announced as he walked into his front door. “Did you kill any children and eat their souls while I was gone?”
Oatmeal didn’t come to the door right away like a dog would, making Tom worry briefly. He set his grocery bags down and knelt to the ground, patting his thighs the way he would do to call Tessa. It’s not that Tom was dying to see him, he just didn’t want to be the guy who lost his girlfriends cat. Much to his relief, Oatmeal appeared from around the corner, the bell around his neck jingling.
“There you are.” Tom sighed as he stood up. “You look like shit.”
Oatmeal hissed and pranced over to the couch, stretching out his limbs in a sunbeam before laying down. As his body his the couch, tufts of hair flew into the air. Tom’s eyes widened in surprise before running over to the couch to investigate. Even though it had been less than a day, Oatmeal had managed to get his fur all over the couch.
“Excuse me? What is this?” Tom demanded as he picked up some fur between his fingers. Oatmeal rolled onto his side and stared at Tom with unblinking eyes.
“What did I say about shedding? You think this is some brothel that you can defile with your fur? It’s not.” Tom snapped, stomping over to the hall closet to get the vacuum. He plugged it into the wall, shooting angry glared at Oatmeal every few seconds.
“Unbelievable.” Tom pretended to gag as he vacuumed up the hair. “You disgust me.”
Oatmeal flicked his tail back and forth, causing the fur Tom had missed to float into the air. Tom shook his fist at the cat before getting his food out and putting it in the bowl.
“I’m taking a shower.” He grumbled as he rinsed his hands. “Eat your damn food.”
Tuesday
“Oatmeal? Come in here.”
Tom stood with his hands on his hips, impatiently tapping his foot as he waited for the damned cat to come. When he didn’t show, Tom balled his fists in frustration and let out a silent scream.
“Oh my God. SPSPSPSPS.” Tom yelled, spit flying from his mouth as he called the cat once again. Oatmeal waltzed into the room, taking his sweet time to get to where Tom was.
“Do you want to explain to me what this is?” Tom asked angrily as he pointed to the surprise Oatmeal had left on the floor while he was working out. Oatmeal sat down and tilted his head at Tom, daring him to raise his voice.
“You’ve done it.” Tom nodded as he tightened his lips into a line. “You’ve shit on my floor.”
Oatmeal purred before turning his attention to his paw, loudly cleaning it to show Tom he had no shame.
“The disrespect you’ve shown for my hard wood is astounding.” Tom pointed a finger at him. “You’re a fiend. A sneaky, fatass little fiend.”
Oatmeal looked towards the kitchen table and meowed before looking back at Tom. He shook his body out, fur flying everywhere and settling in the air.
“Why must you insult me in this way? Why wouldn’t you go in your-“ Tom cut himself off when he looked at the litter box, still on the kitchen table where he left it. So that was what Oatmeal had been looking at.
“Oh. I told you not to put your feet on the table.” Tom realized the cat had listened to him after all. Oatmeal had pooped on the floor, but only because Tom failed to put the litter box down. Oatmeal let out a quiet meow and walked over to Tom, hitting his leg with his tail.
“No, I get it.” Tom sighed as he went to get cleaning supplies. “We were both at fault. I mean, I wasn’t the one who shit on the floor, but we both made a mistake.”
Oatmeal circled Tom’s body before taking a seat at his feet, peering up at him with wide eyes. Tom felt guilty as he looked at the animal, knowing he could never understand that he was sorry for yelling at him. He walked to the table and got the litter box, setting it down where Oatmeal could access it.
“Here.” He said softly. “Sorry about that.”
Oatmeal walked over to the box and looked up at Tom, giving Tom the impression that he was forgiven. But of course, Oatmeal still had a cold side. He hissed viciously at Tom before stepping into the littler box.
“Fine.” Tom scoffed. “I’m not sorry.”
Your cat and your boyfriend stared at each other for a long time, neither wanting to be the one to leave. That was a sign of weakness, and they were both determined to dominate the other.
“I’m getting frozen yogurt.” Tom said suddenly, unable to take the tension any longer. He grabbed his keys and left without another word.
Less than an hour later, Tom returned home with a ring of chocolate frozen yogurt around his mouth. He locked the front door and turned his light on, jumping when he saw Oatmeal sitting in the middle of the floor with a vacant stare.
“Jesus. Warn a guy, would you?” Tom rolled his eyes as he held a hand over his heart. “You could’ve given me a heart attack.”
Oatmeal stayed silent as Tom put his keys in the bowl by the door, his eyes following Tom’s every move.
“Yeah, you would’ve liked that, wouldn’t you?” Tom narrowed his eyes at Oatmeal before washing his hands in the kitchen sink. Oatmeal let out a loud hiss, making Tom jump out of his skin. He had crossed the room to get to Tom, all without making a sound, and sat himself at his feet. Tom stumbled back, only stopping when his back hit the wall. His heart pounded in his ears from the scare, and if he didn’t know any better, he could’ve sworn Oatmeal was laughing at him. Not wanting to show weakness, Tom quickly collected himself and stood up straight.
“Alright listen here you little bitch.” Tom snapped. “I don’t like you. And if I wasn’t seriously in love with your owner, I would microwave you. I would put you in the microwave and watch you rotate just like them damn rotisserie chickens until you blew up. And then I would set the microwave on fire.”
Oatmeal let out a long meow, sounding insulted by Tom’s words. His eyes softened upon hearing the hurt in the cats voice, fixing his body language to not look as menacing.
“Okay I wouldn’t do all that, but I would drive out to a really far place and leave you there. And that’s basically the same thing.” Tom shouted as he folded his arms. Oatmeal dragged his paw behind his ear and purred, taking no interest in Tom or his threats.
“Shut the fuck up.” Tom hissed. Oatmeal hissed back and swiped a paw at Tom.
“I’ll shave you.” Tom threaten as he backed away. “I will shave you bare.”
Oatmeal continued to advance on him, backing the actor into a corner.
“You don’t think I’d do it?” Tom asked with a shaky voice. “I’ll get the buzzer right now. Do you know how ugly you’ll look?”
Oatmeal stopped in his place and sat down, leaning back on his front paws to stretch.
“That’s right.” Tom laughed sharply. “You’ll look like an uncooked chicken breast. Fuck you.”
Oatmeal watched Tom curiously as he left the room, satisfied with how the conversation went.
Wednesday
Tom sat at his kitchen island, slowing sipping his fourth glass of wine. It had gotten to the point in the week where he missed you too much to do much of anything, which resulted him getting drunk early in the day. He had been locked in a staring contest with Oatmeal for quite some time, never breaking eye contact as he poured his next glass.
“What are you looking at?” Tom slurred as he brought the wine glass to his lips. Oatmeal said nothing, blinking slowly at Tom as he drank.
“So what?” Tom shrugged. “My girlfriend is gone. I can get drunk at 2 pm.”
Oatmeal tilted his head to the side, something Tom was growing to resent.
“How dare you judge me?” He spoke slowly, heavily intoxicated now. “You’re not even wearing clothes.”
Oatmeal let out a soft meow, making a smile tug at Toms lips.
“Heh heh.” He chuckled as he took another sip. “Imagine that? You’d look pretty stupid in clothes.”
Oatmeal took a few steps toward Tom, sweetly purring as he rubbed himself against Toms legs.
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to call you stupid.” Tom said softly. “If anyone’s stupid, it’s me. I should’ve gone with Y/n. I miss her so much.”
Oatmeal peered up at Tom with kind eyes, the first docile interaction between them.
“Yeah.” Tom smiled as reached down to scratch his ears. “Me too.”
Oatmeal jumped onto the chair, and then into Toms lap, nuzzling himself against his neck. Tom happily stroked his soft fur, liking this newfound civility between them.
“This is gonna sound crazy, but what can I say? I’m a crazy guy.” Tom laughed heartily. “Do you want to drink with me? Do you just wanna go crazy and drink away the day?”
Oatmeal looked up at Tom and meowed, making Tom smile.
“Hell yeah!” He cheered. He picked Oatmeal up with one hand and grabbed the wine bottle with the other. After setting Oatmeal down on the ground, he poured wine into his water bowl.
“Wine is for cats! Wine is for people! Wine is for people and cats and people.” Tom sang happily. Oatmeal purred as he watched Tom, curious about the unknown liquid in his bowl.
“Thats right.” Tom agreed. “It’s also for church.”
Oatmeal sniffed the wine and pulled away, the sour smell sending a shiver through his body. He waltzed over to a sunbeam that was lighting up the floor and laid down, letting the sun warm his body. Tom stared at him for a moment before shrugging and laying down beside the cat.
“Do you believe in God?” Tom asked as he looked over at him. Oatmeal let out a small meow, to which Tom raised his eyebrows.
“You’re crazy, man.” Tom shook his head and patted his chest. “You’re a crazy dude.”
He laid in the sun with Oatmeal in silence for a moment, taking in the warmth from the floor.
“It’s so warm down here.” Tom sighed in content. “It’s like a hug from the sun.”
Oatmeal swatted his tail towards Tom, making Tom smile. Tom reaching over and rubbed Oatmeal’s tummy, his attention diverting to the bell on his collar. He took it between his fingers and saw your name and address engraved on it, sighing again as he was reminded about how much he missed you.
“I have to tell you man, I love her so much.” Tom pouted wistfully. “Y/n is the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me.”
Tom smiled as Oatmeal purred in understanding.
“You want another drink you crazy bastard?” He asked the cat as he got off the floor. He poured some wine into his glass, and then some into Oatmeal’s already full bowl.
“Me too, man. Me too.” Tom said as he took another sip and got back on the floor.
“You know, Oatmeal isn’t that bad of a name. I can see why she named you that, though.” Tom thought out loud as he stroked the cats fur. “You’re the exact color of her favorite kind. The maple brown sugar one, you know? She gets so excited in the winter when it’s one sale. I’ve seen her clear a whole shelf into her shopping cart. And then she sits down at the table when her hair is still messy and lets it warm her up. She puts her little spoon in it and blows on it even though it’s never that hot. She’s so cute, man. I love her so much. I could watch her eat oatmeal everyday.”
Oatmeal purred as he rubbed his head against Toms hand.
“I know.” Tom chuckled. “We really are lucky.”
Tom situated himself into a more comfortable position on the floor and held his hand up, letting the sun rays shine through his fingers and illuminate the cat hair in the air.
“I gotta say, you’re really onto something with this whole napping in sunbeams deal.” Tom commented. “I’m quite enjoying this.”
Tom was too busy drinking on the floor to hear his front door open. You set your bags down and went into the living room, smiling in confusion when you saw your boyfriend and your cat on the ground.
“Tom?” You laughed at the sight. “I’m home.”
Toms eyes widened as he sprang off the floor, the wine in his glass sloshing around as he stood up.
“It was his idea!” He exclaimed, pointing an accusatory finger at your cat.
“Oh really?” You humored him. “What are you guys doing?”
“We…sunbeam.” Tom explained as he weakly pointed at the sunbeam, still too drunk to form a real sentence.
“I see.” You chuckled as you wrapped your arms around his neck. You placed a welcomed kiss to his lips, immediately tasting the bitter wine.
“Are you drunk?” You asked as you finally noticed the wine glass in his hand.
“Maybe.” Tom giggled as he struggled to stand up straight.
“Never mind that.” Your eyes shifted to Oatmeal and the vacant spot next to him that your boyfriend previously inhabited. “Were you just…cuddling my cat?”
“No.” Tom said quickly. “We were both laying there and you happened to walk in during the brief moment we touched. That’s all.”
“Why were you on the floor?” You questioned as you took the wine glass from his hand and took a sip. Tom opened his mouth but found no words coming out, opting to change the subject instead.
“Come here!” He smiled as he pulled you in for a long hug. “I missed you. Tell me all about your trip.”
“I picked up food from your favorite restaurant. Let’s eat and I’ll tell you everything.” You suggested as you pulled away.
“That sounds perfect.” He sighed, suddenly realizing how hungry he was. “I’m starved.”
You pulled him in for another kiss before bending down to greet your cat.
“Hello baby.” You cooed as you scratched behind Oatmeal’s ears. “Were you a good boy for Tom?”
“He was all right.” Tom shrugged, sending a wink to the cat. “Nothing to report.”
“You spend all that time whining about watching him but you have nothing to report?” You asked skeptically as you stood back up.
“It was pretty mellow.” Tom said dismissively, not wanting to get into the multiple fights they had. You squinted at Tom as if you didn’t believe him and folded your arms.
“Hm. Maybe he did put that hex on you after all.” You teased. “I’m gonna change real quick and move my bags.”
“Okay. I missed you.” Tom pulled you by the hand and kissed you again before you could leave the room.
“I missed you more.” You gave him another quick kiss and grimaced. “You taste like alcohol.”
“I’ll set the table, princess.” He called after you as you walked towards his bedroom.
“Thank you!” You called back.
Tom got to work setting the table and putting the bag of food near the place settings. You came back in no time in one of his large T-shirts and a pair of his boxers. Tom smiled softly, always happy to see you in his clothing.
“You look comfy.” He commented as he pulled you towards him by the waist.
“I am.” You hummed. “That was such a long flight. I don’t know why I wore jeans.”
“Well at least you’re home now. I couldn’t handle us being apart for another day.” He pouted while resting his forehead against yours.
“Me either.” You smiled at him until your eyes shifted to the wall behind him, noticing something strange right away.
“Tom?” You asked as you pulled your head back.
“Yes, love?” He answered, obviously to the concerned look on your face.
“Why is there wine in Oatmeal’s food bowl?”

Rex and Anakin Raise a Family: Part One
The beginning of the end is this: Ahsoka removes Rex’s chip and finds her masters, starts to run, and loses her life before they make it to safety.
(She is the chink in all their armors.)
The beginning of the end is this: Anakin does not Fall, is there as his children are born, and sobs himself to pieces as his wife still dies for reasons none can find.
(Darkness would not have saved her, and the Light was already shattered.)
The beginning of the end is this: Obi-Wan mends his relationship with Anakin just in time to stay behind and guard the escape of what is left of his family.
(Obi-Wan would never have forgiven himself if he hadn’t, and Anakin will never forgive his Master’s memory for sacrificing himself.)
The beginning of the end is this: Their path to safety passes through Malachor.
------------------------
The house is small and dusty, but empty and uninfested.
Anakin is used to worse. Rex is used to worse. The twins can barely see six inches beyond their faces, and do not know any better.
“Do you think they take Republic credits?” Rex asks. They still don’t know what planet they’re even on.
Anakin shrugs. There’s no life to him, even with his daughter in his arms, and his son at his side.
“I’ll pawn a blaster if I have to,” Rex decides. He wraps the bottom half of his face in a scarf, and prays that the blond hair and civilian clothing are enough that nobody will look too close for the eyes of a clone.
Anakin shrugs again. They need food for the newborns, who can’t survive on packed rations and hunted game. There’s only so much formula on the ship they took, and it won’t last the week.
(He is not the only person to lose everything in the last three days, but Rex is more practiced at compartmentalizing.)
(There’s more to it, from the Force letting Anakin feel the deaths of those he loves to the extremely personal betrayal that was Chancellor Palpatine’s reveal as a Sith, but when it comes down to the basics, he knows this: Anakin is broken now, and Rex can hold his own widening fissures together a little longer.)
“I’ll be back soon,” Rex promises, and lets the slow blink and half a nod be his general’s response.
The village isn’t very large. It’s not wealthy, but it seems largely untouched by the war. Nobody looks at him for more than a moment, and he thanks the tweaking of his genetic line for the hair that lets him hide just a little more. There aren’t any rumors catching his ear; he only parses about half of what’s being said. They’re in Mando space, and the words flying about are largely Basic and Mando’a, in a dialect he only mostly understands, and sprinkled with what he thinks is Huttese and Bocce. Still, nobody’s passing hushed gossip about the Jedi turning traitor, or the Republic becoming an Empire. Nobody mentions the Separatists or the war.
Rex feels a mix of rising anxiety and loosening fear. People won’t be looking for them yet, not here, but something is wrong for there to be so little hint of the wider conflict. He’s no scout, but he didn’t make Captain--or Commander, for that it lasted only the length of that final, ill-fated battle on Mandalore--by being as unobservant as a fresh cadet.
He finds himself standing in a store specializing in childcare supplies, staring at a shelf of some twenty different kinds of formula.
“You need some help, stranger?”
He glances at the woman out of the corner of his eye, notes down the degree of danger--minimal, even if he’s not in his armor--and decides it’s not too much information. “My friend, his wife died in childbirth, just a day ago. The children need to eat, but...”
Her face turns into a grimace of sympathy. “You don’t know what’s best. Did the midwife not suggest anything?”
A midwife. They really are in the middle of nowhere. “The birth was... they only had a med droid. No professionals.”
He doesn’t elaborate, hopes she’ll just drop it, and she does. She turns to the shelves, eyes them for a long moment, and then picks out three different boxes.
“Here, try these and see which one the baby likes best. They’re what I’d suggest for newborns. Should be easy to make with some hot water. I’m guessing you have bottles already--”
“No,” Rex says, and then scrambles to explain in a way that doesn’t make it clear just how unprepared they all are. “Not enough. It was twins, and nobody expected it.”
“Did she not--”
“Please don’t,” Rex says, desperate already. “It’s been a long few days, and it’s not my story to tell.”
She nods, a tad too slow, but he hopes it’s just concern.
Bottles and pacifiers, diapers and towels, just enough to tide them by with the excuse of buying for the unexpected extra child instead of the truth of having gone on the run the second the twins had been born.
Rex sees the face the woman makes when he goes to pay. His heart sinks.
“I’m... we don’t usually take Republic credits here, you understand,” she says slowly. “But you’re in a bad spot, and I don’t want the babes to suffer. See about visiting the exchange office soon, though.”
He could almost cry. He doesn’t. It’s a near thing.
“Thank you,” he says instead, as emphatically as he can. “Thank you so much.”
She smiles faintly, tightly, uncomfortably. “If I could make one more suggestion?”
He nods.
“There’s... there’s a nurse that runs a clinic down the way,” she says slowly. “She can look over the children, for one thing, but she can also... well, there’s a medication we can sell, to single fathers and the like, but only with a prescription...”
He blinks at her, uncomprehending.
“It induces lactation in those who otherwise wouldn’t,” she says, and bares her teeth in something that isn’t quite a smile. “Not the most popular option, but it’s technically on the table for anyone with breast tissue, and breast milk is usually healthier overall for babies than formula, for most species. Um, it’s popular with adoptive mothers, wet nurses, same-sex couples, single fathers in a situation like your friend’s... tell me if I should stop talking.”
“No, no, I think that he’d actually appreciate that,” Rex hurries to assure her. “I can at least bring it up, and we’ll need to have regular medical attention for the twins anyway, so I need the address, don’t I?”
Her smile brightens into something a little more real, and she scribbles something down on some flimsi. “Here, just give this to your friend. Come here and ask for Teskarim if you have questions; that’s me.”
He commits the name in memory, dips his head in a nod of thanks, and makes his way for the door.
The trip back to the house is, by and large, uneventful. There are still no rumors. There are still no chip-loyal brothers. There are still no bounty posters, or--
His eyes dart back to the bounty board, just for a second. There’s a face on there that shouldn’t be. He doesn’t linger; it’s bad form, suspicious. Instead, he heads for the newsstand a few stalls down, pauses just long enough to get the date, and strikes out for the little house and their ship without changing his stride. Externally, he looks entirely normal.
His mind is in a daze.
3,594 ATC
The year is 3,594.
He hasn’t been born yet.
He does the math.
His General hasn’t been born yet.
Sith Hells, High General Kenobi hasn’t been born yet.
Rex is...
He has to talk to Anakin.

My MC /OC /YUU, in the doorframe of the entrance to Ramshackle:
My MC /OC /YUU: W -Why ..? Grimm, I'm not crazy, it's not my birthday. Or yours yet?
Grimm: No but I'm not going to complain, it smells so good! * Dive into the assembly of packages and gift packages in pink and red *
* The First Year Gang arrives to look for MC for classes like every morning *
Deuce: Eh! I didn't know you were so popular MC!
My MC /OC /YUU: Me? Popular? I reassure you right away, in my world I was considered as the weird and silent child of the class. So popular I have never been very popular.
Ace: Do you know at least what day we have?
My MC /OC /YUU: No ...?
Jack: It's Valentine's Day * Sniff the air * Ugh! All this sugar gives me stomach ache and toothache ...
Grimm: It's so good MC! * Eyes that glow * Free chocolate! I'm going to be happy to eat it all!
Epel: Easy, Grimm, they're at MC you should ask her before you binge without permission.
Grimm: * Touching eyes and adorable gaze *
My MC /OC /YUU: * Sigh * Isn't that risking your health at least? I mean .. you really look like a cat and chocolate is poison to them.
Grimm: Who do you take me for? A vulgar animal? I'm a monster, obviously I can eat anything!
My MC /OC /YUU: Alright. You can take it but out of the question that you abuse it and fall ill afterwards, understand?
Grimm: You are the best Dorm Leader! Yahoou! * Plunges back among the packages happily *
Sebek: IF WE DON'T HURRY, WE WILL BE LATE FOR CLASSES!
My MC /OC /YUU: Sorry, Sebek, I'm making you late ... Go ahead I'll take the packages inside and I'll join you!
Jack: Do not be ridiculous, we will help you it will go faster.
* Our happy group of friends are going to their first class of the day *
* My MC /OC /YUU going to sit in his usual place *
My MC /OC /YUU: Is it really happening ...? * Turns all red * I even get flowers, now.
Ace: * Smirk * You look so shocked, like this is the first time this has happened to you, Hehe!
My MC /OC /YUU: ....
Deuce: Is this the first time this has happened to you ?!
My MC /OC /YUU: I told you before, I was not very popular and not very pretty. Boys and girls aren't really used to looking around in my path and neither am I.
Ace and Deuce: * Mumbles * His world must be filled with blind people ...
* Later that day they pass Cater, Trey and Riddle *
Cater: * Put his arm around MC's shoulders * Hello lovely young lady! What are you planning to give me for Valentine's Day? Although, you know I prefer the salty.
Riddle: Cater! This is inappropriate!
My MC /OC /YUU: Don't worry, Riddle. Well Cater, I completely forgot that it was today and I don't have a present for you, I'm sorry. Besides, why do I have to offer you one, we are not in a relationship?
Trey: Tradition has it that girls give chocolates to their friends and loved one. Doesn't that work in your world?
My MC /OC /YUU: Actually, no. Valentine's Day is only a day for couples, at least that's how it is in my country but I know that in Japan, another country, it works the same as Twisted Wonderland. But if you really want chocolates, I can make some for you, that makes me happy! I'm only sorry I didn't give them to you on the right date ...
Riddle: Don't bother if you don't want to, MC!
My MC /OC /YUU: I really don't mind, I would only need to borrow the kitchens from Heatslabyul. That of Ramshackle is not sufficiently equipped or even in good condition to work in good conditions. Dust is falling from the ceiling all the time, I wouldn't want that to end up in the preparation.
Trey: It works, come see me after class when you finish I'll give you the keys to the kitchen.
* Later that day, in Heatslabyul's kitchen *
My MC /OC /YUU: Well let's see ... Rose and violet chocolates are for Riddle. The orange and blood citrus ones are for Trey. The spicy beef and chicken mini skewers are for Cater. Ace has his pastry cream strawberries. Deuce to his red berry and chocolate pancakes. Leona ... Her filet mignon meal basket with sweet and salty honey. Ruggie his donuts and donuts are ready, all they need to do is garnish and fill them. Jack doesn't like things that are too sweet or unhealthy ... so a mango and coconut sorbet. Azul pays close attention to her figure, so poached pears in honey. Jade un Canteloupe and blueberries with green tea and lime. Floyd strawberry chocolates in the shape of shrimp and sea animals. Kalim and Jamil hot chili chocolates and rhubarb and date jam that they can put on homemade brioche toast. Vil, Rook and Epel fresh fruit salad, French pancakes with rum and apple clafoutis. Idia ... chocolate and peanut butter pop cake with a Bubble Tea with tapioca pearls and mango and candies for Ortho. Malleus popsicles in the shape of a gargoyle and a bouquet of chocolate in the shape of roses, Lilia macaroons with mint and vanilla in the shape of a bat, Sebek ... A mini figurine of Malleus in dark chocolate and food coloring, for Silver it will be passion fruit Pasteis De Nata. And Grimm ... Squid with seafood and vegetables. Lord! I've never cooked for so many people! I'll put it all in the fridge and go home!
* My MC /OC /YUU coming home exhausted *
My MC /OC /YUU collapsing on Ramshackle's living room couch: Lord! I am so tired!
Grimm: Your hands smell full of delicious smells! Am I going to have some too?
My MC /OC /YUU: * Smells his hands and grimaces * Ugh! It especially smells like chocolate fish! It makes me sick ... I'm coming back I'll try to make this smell available, by all the gods ...
* Grimm who decides to wait for him while eating another packet of chocolate intended for MC *
Grimm: * Starts at coughed, disgusted * Yuck! These taste too weird !!
My MC /OC /YUU who comes back with his hands washed aggressively: You make a funny face, what's happening to you?
Grimm: These chocolates are too weird, I don't like them.
My MC /OC /YUU : Let me see? * Frowns and takes a chocolate to eat it * * Chew gently * Hmm ... it's true they have a weird aftertaste ... I feel weird ... M-My head spinning ... I can't feel my legs anymore ... * Fainted on the ground *
Grimm: Nyah! MC! Don't move, I'll get help!
* A few hours after taking MC to the infirmary, the strange chocolates were analyzed and an emergency meeting of the leaders and vice-dormitory leaders be given *
Professor Crewel: The results are clear ... The chocolates contained a love potion prepared in the most mediocre manner I have ever seen. So this has the effect on the Prefect of Ramshackle that she is falling into a deep sleep.
Kalim, with tears in his eyes: Is there no cure ?!
Crewel: Yes.
Leona, hiding her concern with aggression: And ?!
Crowley: The only solution for my dear MC to wake up is the ... The kiss of true love ...
Azul: I thought it only existed in children's books .. What if it doesn't work? How is it supposed to work?
Trein: That's the problem. The person kissing MC must be the person they love.
Ace who holds Grimm in his arms because the poor thing is absolutely devastated: Does MC at least love someone ?!
Jade: You are his closest friends, you should know that.
Deuce: MC never talks to us about that kind of thing and neither do we, she says all the time that it's her private life and that it's none of our business .... Oh MC ...
Jamil: Grimm, do you know?
Grimm who sniffs and holds back his tears: NOOooOoo ...!
Ace: Don't worry Grimm, we'll find the person who did this to her and she better be sorry for even entering this school.
Azul: Floyd will certainly be happy to help you find him, he has a special affection for MC.
Riddle: You can count on us too! We will make him regret acting in a manner so disrespectful and dangerous towards MC and the school rules!
Crowley: Come on gentlemen, let's try to act in a neutral and professional manner * Whisper to himself * If I find this little fool I'll be happy to kick him out of this school forever!
Malleus: If you let me deal with this man's case personally, I can assure you that he will never return to this school. Because he won't have any legs at all.
Idia: I'm still going to do some research approach to find out if there are no other solutions with MC!
Ortho: Big Bro, you'll have to come and try to wake MC up with a kiss first.
Idia panics immediately: I- I don't think it will work w-with me! How could MC love a geek like m-me ?!
Ortho, happily: Don't devalue yourself, Big Bro ! You have all your chances!
Rook: Oui, Mon cher, you have every chance! MC must obviously have noticed your unique charm!
Ruggie: * Whispers mockingly * Ah that, to be unique, he is! Shishishishi!
Lilia: * Laugh slightly * Let's see if our dear Idia has the courage to come out of his den.
Vil: That's enough you two, what we're talking about is serious. It is not time for jokes!
Trey, whispering sadly to himself: And to think that a few hours ago MC and I were talking in the kitchen and cooking like nothing had happened ... She had put so much heart into her preparations...
* Everyone is gathered in the infirmary plus the rest of the boys *
Riddle who blushes a lot: So uh ... how do we do it? Are we in line?
Crewel: The best is if you all wait outside and come one by one to Miss MC. If either of you ever wakes her up, I think you both need to discuss it.
The boys went by one by one and finally ....
Twisted boy: Okay ... It's my turn. * Enter the infirmary and approach MC * Hi MC. I'm sorry to kiss you without your consent but ... we have no other solutions at this time. Please forgive me .. * Kiss her *
My MC /OC YUU: * Wakes up coughing very hard until spitting out a piece of half-melted chocolate * WHAT THE HELL ?!
Twisted boy: You're awake! * Hugs her *
My MC /OC /YUU: * hugs him back * What's going on ?!
Twisted boy: * Explain everything to her * That's why I kissed you. Aren't you angry?
My MC /OC /YUU: No, no! I understand that was the only solution, thank you for freeing me from the negligence of the fool who gave me these cursed chocolates!
* My MC /OC /YUU finally realizes what it means *
My MC /OC /YUU: So uh .. Yeah I love you I guess ... But if you don't feel anything for me I totally understand and we can stay like we are now! I promise not to make this awkward or weird!
Twisted boy: Actually, it's good because ... I also feel the same way but I didn't know how to tell you.
My MC /OC /YUU: ... So ... you wanna go on a date with me?
Twisted boy: I would love that!
* Grimm who goes into the infirmary like a cannonball *
Grimm: MC! YOU ARE ALIVE ! MY HANDMAN, YOU WON'T EAT ANY MORE WITHOUT I TASTING IT FIRST! * Hopped into MC's arms to give her a hug *

"you asked me to the store with you and your child, and now my distant relative we met thinks im married with a baby" for wangxian :3
I doubt this was the thing you expected, but ... [smashes keyboard]
---
It had been a coincidence, really, nothing that he’d planned. He’d just been on his way out of the door to get his groceries done when he came across one of his neighbours in the entrance hall; the really handsome one with the cute little toddler that always smiled at him. The one where the mother of the child had probably left the picture, because he’d never actually seen her.
Quietly, he wondered what woman would leave a man that was so obviously caring well for his child, and a toddler so friendly and cute, but then, that was really none of his business.
In any case, when he ran into them in the entrance hall of the apartment building, the toddler was having a big temper tantrum (that was a first), and his father, despite his best efforts at calming the child, was completely unsuccessful in stopping the wailing. His usually neutral face was, for once, wrinkled in concern and apparent helplessness.
Wei Ying knew the feeling too well, from similar situations with his own family. Recently, it had been happening particularly often because of Jin Ling, his beloved nephew who had taken an unfortunate page from the book of his father and had started an early ‘nonono, I don’t want to’ phase.
So Wei Ying automatically did what he always did with Jin Ling: he made a stupid face at the toddler, and when the toddler looked at Wei Ying in momentary confusion, Wei Ying grabbed him, lifted him up, and wheeled him around. The kid let out a sound halfway between annoyance and enjoyment. Wei Ying took the chance he got, and folded over with the biggest grin on his face, tilting the child upside down with him. Then he flipped back up, and did it again. By the third time, the child was laughing.
“Again, again!”
Wei Ying did it again, and then tried to set the child down, but it was too late. Quick as anything, two hands grabbed him with surprising strength, and he now had a spider monkey on his hands. The child clung to him, eagerly asking for more parentally inadvisable acrobatics.
Wei Ying looked at the father apologetically, who had witnessed the whole event with the earlier frown still on his face, shrugging a little as he held the little monkey in his arms.
“Sorry for barging in like that,” he said. “It’s just something I picked up from handling my nephew. It works with him every time, so I started doing it automatically. You’re probably busy, I should let you go.”
He tried to hand the boy back to his father, but there was no budging. The child clung to him like a leech, whining at Wei Ying to play with him.
“I am sorry,” the father said, clearly unsure how to handle the situation and his uncooperating child. “He is usually not that difficult. Today is…”
He trailed off.
Wei Ying smiled encouragingly. “Hey, parenting is hard. Tell me, where were you going? I was planning to go to the supermarket near the park, and if you’re heading in the same direction, we can walk together until he’s calmed down a little.”
Wei Ying was almost sure there was something akin to relief in the father’s face.
“I was also heading out for groceries,” the father replied. “If it is not too much to ask…”
“Hey, no biggie,” Wei Ying smiled. “If you carry my groceries, all is well.”
He winked at the boy in his arms.
“Always get others to carry your things.”
“Gege is carrying ME!” the boy exclaimed excitedly, and Wei Ying laughed.
“I see, I see, you are a smart one!”
Wei Ying winked at the father, and after assuring him that he was perfectly fine carrying a toddler around, they walked to the grocery store together.
On the way, Wei Yin learned that the names of father and son were Lan Zhan and Lan Yuan, respectively. They hadn’t been living in the apartment building for very long (Wei Ying had suspected as much), and had recently relocated because Lan Zhan had changed jobs.
Wei Ying felt the urge to ask about the child’s mother, but managed to suppress his curiosity.
It was none of his business, he told himself sternly. He had no place nosing around in a stranger’s private affairs, even when the man in question was particularly handsome, and the toddler particularly cute.
---
Shopping turned out to be way more fun than it usually was. Lan Yuan was still stuck to Wei Ying, unwilling to give up the prime real estate in Wei Ying’s arms, so Wei Ying carried him through the supermarket like a little king, and together, they commanded Lan Zhan what he needed to buy.
Lan Zhan was a strict man that was extremely picky about the foods that he put onto the plate of his child, Wei Ying learned quickly. But he was also a father that very clearly loved by his son, and everything Lan Yuan said was considered seriously, even when it was eventually turned down. Wei Ying almost felt bad to ask Lan Zhan to help him with his groceries, since his eating habits were… nowhere near Lan Zhan’s, that was for sure.
Lan Zhan himself frowned a little when he saw all the stuff that Wei Ying was planning to buy, and though he was evidently trying to restrain himself from commenting, he eventually cracked.
“You do not cook for yourself?” he asked, as Wei Ying snatched another box of frozen food out of the freezer one-handed, balancing Lan Yuan on his hip.
“Not really,” Wei Ying replied lightly. “I’m a horrible cook. My sister banned me from her kitchen.”
“Fresh vegetables are important,” Lan Zhan said, clearly not approving of his dietary choices.
“I know! I have them when I visit my sister. She makes the best food.”
He smiled at Lan Yuan.
“Always eat your veggies, mister, if you want to grow as tall as your dad.”
“I’m gonna be taller!”
It was spoken with so much enthusiasm and conviction that Wei Ying had to laugh.
“You have a lot of work to do and many veggies to eat, then!”
“What about Gege?” Lan Yuan asked. “You also need to eat veggies and grow taller.”
“I’m not going to get any taller now, I’ve reached my maximum height already,” Wei Ying replied. “Not everyone gets to be as tall as your dad.”
That opened an entire new can of worms, because now Lan Yuan wanted to know why Wei Ying wasn’t as tall as his father, and why people were tall or small or fat or thin, and Wei Ying found himself inundated with questions he might have been able to answer more easily if he had been able to pull out his mobile phone and search for some scientifically accurate answers.
But Lan Yuan seemed to enjoy the explanations that Wei Ying could give, so honestly, all was well. He’d apparently completely forgotten the reason why he’d had a meltdown in the entrance hall of their apartment block, and seemed to enjoy being babied by someone other than his father, for once.
“A-Yuan is such a good child,” Wei Ying sighed as they left the supermarket (Lan Zhan carrying Wei Ying’s groceries as promised). “If I ever have children, I also want to have a child like A-Yuan.”
Lan Yuan hugged Wei Ying with a smile, and Wei Ying had to squish the little boy, overwhelmed by a sudden feeling of intense affection. He was just too precious. Dammit, he didn’t even have a partner, he couldn’t go around getting baby fever.
“Wei Ying should adopt me!” Lan Yuan exclaimed with enthusiasm. “Like Baba!”
Now that was… Wei Ying looked at Lan Zhan, confused about that little nugget of information.
Lan Zhan, not looking at him but at Lan Yuan, chastised his son gently.
“A-Yuan, you cannot simply ask unrelated people to adopt you. I am your cousin. We were family before I adopted you. The same cannot be asked for from unrelated people.”
It was a very rational explanation, Wei Ying thought. It also answered a few questions about the apparent non-existence of a mother. But it also seriously underestimated Wei Ying’s particular brand of free-spiritedness combined with a healthy dose of disregard for societal conventions, so Wei Ying lifted Lan Yuan higher and gave him a cheeky grin.
“For what it’s worth, A-Yuan,” he declared, “I would totally adopt you if given the chance. I don’t think your father would give you up for any price, but just know that I would.”
Lan Yuan gave him the biggest smile in reply, and Lan Zhan gave him the most severe frown he had ever seen in his life, but he didn’t care.
Lan Yuan was just too cute, and Wei Ying was entirely honest when he said that he would adopt a child like him in a heartbeat. Of course, a decision like that would be a big responsibility. Taking care of a life.  But he had never been the type to think about such things carefully before jumping right in. He had always wanted a family. And he had experience in handling kids. He could do it, he knew.
Maybe I should really start to consider having a child, he thought to himself, snuggling Lan Yuan a little tighter, resting their heads together, even without a partner in the picture. I have Dajie too, I can rise a child on my own.
(He did not notice Lan Zhan’s considering gaze.)
---
“Are you a homewrecker now?”
“Hello A-Cheng, it’s nice to hear from you, I’m doing very well, thank you,” Wei Ying sang into the receiver. “Why are you calling?”
“You were seen with a father and his child at the supermarket,” came Jiang Cheng’s angry voice from the other side of the connection. “Flirting inappropriately. Really, now? Don’t tell me you’re sleeping with a man that already has a toddler.”
“Ouch, A-Cheng, who do you think I am?” Wei Ying asked theatrically. (If he was honest, the sentiment hurt a little.) “He’s just a neighbour, I was helping out like good neighbours do. He is in fact not married and the child is adopted, so even if I was sleeping with him, which I’m not, there would be nothing inappropriate about it. Also, I have never slept with any man of my acquaintance and I’m not sure why this is coming up now.”
“So that means we don’t have to reserve a seat for him at the next family dinner?”
Wei Ying spluttered. “Wha- what??”
“My sister was really excited at the thought of getting a nephew. I guess it was too much to ask. If you start fucking him, don’t tell me, but I need to know if I have to make more reservations than usual. That’s all. Bye.”
The next moment, Jiang Cheng had hung up, and Wei Ying stared at his phone beeping at him in disbelief.
What the hell?
How had Jiang Cheng even found out he had gone shopping with Lan Zhan and Lan Yuan?
Still shaken and repeating the entire conversation in his head, trying to make sense of it, he heard the doorbell ring. He threw his phone aside and scrambled to get to the door.
As soon as he opened the door, A-Yuan threw himself forward and latched onto Wei Ying’s leg tightly, grinning up at him.
“Gege! Play with me!” he shouted in lieu of a greeting.
Behind him stood Lan Zhan, all prim and proper, with his arms folded behind his back.
“He said he was missing you,” he said with an apologetic bow.
Slowly, Wei Ying bent down and lifted A-Yuan up to settle him on his hip. He stared at Lan Zhan, standing there and staring back, and thought about the strange phone call that he’d just had.
Of course he was happy that A-Yuan wanted to see him again. And of course he was happy that Lan Zhan had come to actively seek him out.
And of course he thought that–
Well.
Quietly, he wondered what it needed to make Lan Zhan accept an invitation for family dinner.
Well, maybe not a family dinner, first thing. Something a little more private was appropriate.
He gave A-Yuan a small kiss to the crown of his head, and saw Lan Zhan following the movement intently.
Hm, he thought giddily. Maybe not quite as much as I thought it might.
He smiled at Lan Zhan.
“Why don’t you come in? I doubt I’m getting this little one off of me very soon.”

********
You wanted to surprise Fred.
He had been feeling down lately. Ever since he and George reopened the shop after the war, things had been a little tough. The movement was still quite slow, given the fact that people were still recovering from the war, mourning their lost ones and starting new lives. It was a difficult time for everyone, and of course it affected Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes as well.
What ached your heart the most was the fact that there wasn’t much you could do to help him. Every day you watched as he took longer to get out of bed in the morning, how he sounded slower and quieter when talking to you and, the worst part, how he acted quite mechanic when doing his chores around the shop, the same ones he enjoyed so much in the past and had always gotten done with a bright smile on his face. And although he never stopped caring for you or being loving to you, the bedroom had become… inactive. And you missed it. You missed being intimate with your boyfriend, but every time you tried to initiate it, he would softly decline, claiming to be too tired. You believed it. You could see he was indeed exhausted. And not only physically, but mentally too. Perhaps the latter was actually the one weighing more.
George, however, was quite the opposite. He kept his optimism high and was always the first to wake up every morning, excited with the new day and new possibilities. He would often go out and promote the shop, talk to people and sometimes even manage to bring a customer in.
This big difference between them worried you. No, you did not expect the twins to act the same, but you hoped in secret that Fred would follow his brother’s steps and cheer up a bit.
Cheer up. Yeah. That was exactly what he needed. And what better way to cheer up someone than a surprise trip? That’s how you were going to take his mind off of work. With Hermione’s help, you planned a very romantic weekend trip out of town. You talked to George beforehand, of course, but he assured you he could take care of the shop by himself for two days. He agreed Fred needed this.
“It’s not like we’re getting many customers anyway,” he had said.
So, as Friday approached, you felt the excitement building up. You managed to act completely nonchalant around him, making sure he didn’t suspect a thing. It wasn’t a big, expensive hotel because you knew he would worry about money and that was the opposite of what you wanted for this trip. Hermione had helped you pick a small, comfy hotel that was quite charming and fit your pocket perfectly. You wanted to make sure Fred felt loved, cared for and relaxed. There was also a little extra surprise inside your suitcase that you really hoped he would like…
What you didn’t know was that Fred felt guilty. He reckoned he hadn’t been the boyfriend you deserved lately, but he couldn’t help it. The stress was almost eating him alive and his mind was always wandering back to the shop, worrying about its future. You had been so kind and patient with him, he knew you deserved better than that. The whole thing was snowballing and sometimes he couldn’t see it ending.
That Friday, when you got home from work, the shop was still open and there was actually a customer inside, talking with George. You felt relief wash over you, because you knew what that meant: Fred was probably in a good mood.
You walked straight to the flat, not daring to interrupt George, but you stopped in the middle of the stairs to watch. He was speaking with such enthusiasm, showing and explaining his products to the young boy, that it filled you with pride. You caught his eyes for a brief moment and noticed the smallest of smirks appear on his lips. Smiling back, you nodded at him. Fred was nowhere to be seen, though, so you went upstairs.
There was a delicious scent coming from the kitchen. The older twin was there, cooking. You smiled to yourself at the sight. His favorite The Weird Sisters record was playing somewhere in the flat, adding a familiar, comfortable feel to the whole scene. Fred’s back was facing you while he chopped… carrots? on the counter. He didn’t seem to notice your presence just yet, so you took advantage of that. Placing your bag on the nearest chair, you walked in quiet steps towards your boyfriend. The fresh mint aroma coming from him meant he had probably just showered. Oh, and how you missed showering with him.
You couldn’t refrain your smile from growing even bigger once you noticed Fred’s body was swinging from side to side, so imperceptibly that you almost missed it. Carefully, you wrapped your arms around him from behind, resting your cheek on his back. You felt him tense up for a mere second before realizing who it was. He soon relaxed, letting go of the knife and placing his clean hand on yours.
“Didn’t hear you coming in,” he stated, voice low and raspy.
You hummed in response and placed a soft kiss on the nape of his neck. Fred turned around and briefly met your lips with his.
“It’s gonna take a while. Why don’t you go take a bath?”
“I will,” you nodded, running your hand from his chest to his shoulder and squeezing it gently. “How was your day?”
He shrugged. “Okay.”
“Okay”, you repeated. “Well, I hope I can make it better. I have a surprise for you after dinner.”
“A surprise?”
“Yes. I have an idea of how we can spend your days off.”
“Hm… Making plans already, are we?”
“Very good plans, yes. But you’ll have to wait until dinner.”
“Or you could tell me right now so I won’t have to.”
“But where’s the fun in that?”
You smirked and gave him another peck on the lips before rushing off the kitchen and leaving your boyfriend to his curiosity and imagination.
The warm bath made you think about a lot of things and you came to realize you were very lucky. The war was over and there you were, taking a bath in your boyfriend’s flat, the person you loved the most in the world. So many people lost their loved ones, their homes, their entire lives in that war. You knew you had many reasons to feel happy and should not take them for granted. Life was good for you right now, and you acknowledged it, promising to yourself that you were going to enjoy it the best you could, with Fred by your side.
George joined the two of you for dinner, which turned out to be the best you had in months. Not because of the food, although it was perfect, but because it felt like everything was back to normal, like all the meals you had shared before the war. Maybe it was the idea of a day off and the mention of a surprise from you, but you could see that Fred was already less gloomy or aloof.
After the meal, as if sensing you wanted to reveal your plans to Fred, George excused himself to his bedroom, claiming he still had to finish some work. You wished him goodnight, not missing the discrete wink he gave you.
“So…” you started, watching as Fred emptied his glass of pumpkin juice. “Remember when I said I had an idea on how to spend your days off?”
“Oh, yes. The surprise.”
“Well… I figured you could use a little rest from everything, so I made a reservation at a very nice hotel for the two of us to spend the weekend at.”
“You what?” Fred asked, a small smile starting to grace his lips.
“The portkey is set for our departure at 10 a.m. tomorrow.”
“But-”
“Nope. No buts,” you shook your head. “I have already packed our bags.”
“Y/N, doll, I don’t know what to say.”
“Tell me I’m amazing, the best thing that ever happened to you, an angel sent from heaven…  Something humble like that.”
Fred chuckled, that contagious sound you missed hearing so much. “You’re amazing. You are the best thing that ever happened to me, a true angel sent from heaven.”
“I know! We’re gonna have so much fun,” you smiled excitedly, clasping your hands together.
“What exactly are your plans for us, though?” your boyfriend questioned, curiosity dripping from his lips.
“Oh, you’ll find out once we’re there.”
“The surprise doesn’t end here, I see.”
“Exactly. I have everything planned, baby.”
The look in Fred’s eyes seemed to indicate he had an idea of what you had planned, but he did not say a word about it. He would like to see the surprise reveal itself in the right moment. He wasn’t going to spoil your plans in any way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You always had your doubts when it came to ads, but this time you had to admit this was spot on. The hotel looked exactly like its pictures and descriptions.
“Mr. and Mrs. Weasley?” the receptionist asked as soon as you stepped in the lobby.
It was something so small, so simple, but it made your heart flutter and stomach fill with those restless butterflies. Mrs. Weasley. Were you ever going to become that? You wondered if Fred even noticed the little misunderstanding.
“Um,” you cleared your throat. “Actually, it’s just one Weasley. Fred Weasley. I’m Y/N Y/L/N.”
Your slight flustered manner didn’t go unnoticed by Fred. Despite the obvious nervousness, he thought it was rather cute. In fact, he liked to hear you be called that. Perhaps he should do something about it…
“Oh, I apologize. Mr. Weasley and Miss Y/L/N,” the receptionist corrected herself as she checked the reservation’s book. “You’re right on time, your room is ready for you. I just need your wands for ID confirmation before I give you your key.”
Both of you handed your wands to the young woman behind the desk and she did as she was supposed to. Sooner than you had anticipated, you were in the lovely suite you had reserved.
Fred placed the small handbag on the bed – blessed be the extension charm, that’s all you had to carry for that trip – and walked around the room curiously. You went straight for the big window and opened the curtains. There it was. The view you had seen on the ad and that had made you instantly choose this hotel.
“Fred,” you called softly, looking behind you. “Come see.”
Your boyfriend let go of the catalog on the nightstand and approached you, eyeing the outside in awe.
“Wow,” he breathed. “It’s beautiful.”
“Isn’t it?”
When making the reservation, you were met with the question: would you like a room with view to the street/village or to the beach? And you chose the beach, although the village was a lovely sight. Now, seeing Fred’s reaction, you were absolutely sure you had made the right choice.
The hotel was in a small village where both wizards and muggles lived. With a little help from magic, the wizards could go unnoticed and the muggles lived everyday life without a single clue of the existence of such peculiar neighbors. The beach was right behind the village, and your room being in the back of the hotel, you had a wonderful privileged view of nature’s beauty.
“Wanna go down there?” you asked.
“What’s in your plans?” he asked back, switching his gaze from the window to you.
“Beach,” you replied with a small smile. “Basically the entire day at the beach, lunch at a muggle restaurant down there too. But dinner here.”
“I’ll follow your script, doll.”
Fred placed his hand on your waist and pulled you closer, pressing his lips ever so gently on yours. You instantly let go of the curtains so you could run your fingers through his soft hair. The light fabric fell back to its place, covering the windows again and leaving the room a little darker than before. Fred’s gentle kiss wasn’t so gentle anymore.
No, not yet.
You broke the kiss and pulled back, biting your lip as you started to feel that you might not be able to wait until the right time for your surprise.
“I’m starving,” you whispered against his lips.
“Me too,” he pulled you closer again.
“Let’s go, then.” You managed to get out of his embrace and grab the handbag before heading to the bathroom to change into your bathing suit.
A hungry Fred was left standing by the big window.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It had been hard.
It had been hard seeing you in so little clothing, dripping wet, skin glistening as droplets of water reflected the sunlight. But Fred managed.
All he had in his mind every time he saw you leaving the water was how he wanted to take you then and there. He had to distract himself from those thoughts, paying attention to what you were saying but not too much to your moving lips. He knew you had something planned and he was appreciative of how much effort you had put in this weekend for him. That was the only reason he wasn’t indulging to his not-so-pure thoughts.
Lunch was a good distraction too, specially since you had to convince a muggle child she had imagined it when she saw Fred stop his falling fork mid-air.
Now, as the two of you walked hand in hand back to the hotel, he wondered if he was going to be rewarded for the self-control test he had just passed. You were humming a song as you observed the houses, trying to guess which ones were muggles and which ones were wizards.
“What’s next?” he asked.
“Dinner!” you answered excitedly. “But, if I were you, I wouldn’t go overboard.”
“Why, if I may ask?” but Fred already suspected why.
“Well… there might be plans for after dinner as well.”
Fred held your hand tighter and pulled you towards the hotel in a faster pace. You chuckled, feeling the excitement grow bigger and bigger.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Dessert?” the waiter asked as he took the empty plates from your table.
“No, thank you,” Fred replied before you had the chance. “We’re calling it a night, aren’t we, sweetheart?”
“Actually,” you smirked at your boyfriend before looking at the waiter. “I’d like chocolate pudding, please.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
As soon as the waiter left, Fred gave you a look.
“What?” you asked nonchalantly.
“I thought you said we wouldn’t go overboard.”
“I’m not going overboard. I had a small plate,” you shrugged.
“Right,” Fred sighed, bouncing his leg under the table.
When your chocolate pudding came, you grabbed the spoon and took a small amount to your mouth. Fred watched your every move, arms crossed and brows slightly furrowed as he saw you slowly lick the spoon. You pretended you didn’t know he was watching, eyes on the tiny bowl in front of you, and you mouthed another spoon, unintentionally getting pudding all over your lips.
Your boyfriend gulped as he watched you run your thumb over your lower lip, getting rid of the chocolate there, and gently suck on it.
“For fuck’s sake, Y/N,” he mumbled.
“Hm?” you looked at him innocently.
“Just eat the damn thing.”
“You want some?” you raised the spoon at him.
“Yes, I want some.”
You felt your cheeks burn just a little bit with his remark, heart begin to race as the ideas for what you wanted to do to him tonight started to flood your mind.
“If you wait patiently, you might get what you want,” you teased, looking back at the bowl and already serving another spoon, which you quickly brought to your lips, licking all the content off of it.
Fred shook his head, one corner of his lips going upwards ever so slightly, eyes glued on you.
“You sure you don’t want to taste it?” you offered again, lips glistening as you cleaned them with your tongue.
“I will taste it,” his eyes pierced through your body and suddenly the hotel was too hot.
You had barely served the last spoon of pudding when Fred stood up and let the waiter know you were headed to the room.
“I haven’t finished yet,” you protested and he immediately took the last spoon from your hand and into his mouth.
“Now you have,” he said as he pulled you from the chair.
The way back to the suite felt much longer than it actually was, but as soon as you reached the door, Fred’s lips were on yours. You had trouble to get the key with your boyfriend’s hands all over you, pulling your body hard against his.
“Fred,” you breathed, stepping back. “There’s another surprise.”
Before he could say anything, you unlocked the door and went inside.
“Sit down,” you slowly pushed him to the bed. “And close your eyes.”
Fred complied with no protests, but you could see he was getting flustered, probably guessing what was coming.
You blew out most of the candles illuminating the room and left only a few to create the romantic atmosphere you wanted. You went to the bathroom and changed into the expensive lacy lingerie you had bought for this exact occasion. It was red, a color you had learned Fred was very fond of when it came to this kind of clothing, and had one small, delicate bow right between your breasts.
“Are your eyes closed?” you asked from the bathroom, hand on the doorknob.
“Yeah,” you heard in response.
“No peeking ‘til I tell you to,” you warned.
“…‘kay.”
You opened the door and stepped out of the bathroom. Fred was still sitting on the bed, one leg bouncing impatiently, and a slight frown between his eyebrows.
Slowly, you approached the bed and stood right in front of him.
“Open your eyes,” you whispered.
As soon as he did, Fred sucked in a shaky, quiet breath. He eyed you from head to toe, not hiding his astonishment.
“Baby,” he mumbled in a deep voice, already feeling his pants get a little too tight as his eyes still traveled through your entire figure.
“Do you like it?” you asked.
“Mm-hmm,” he nodded, biting his bottom lip.
“Good,” you smiled, placing your hands on each of his shoulders. “Now let me show you how proud I am to be your girlfriend.”
Your lips met Fred’s in a slow, deep kiss as you climbed the bed and straddled him, your arms thrown around his neck. Fred let out a soft moan when he felt your weight against his lap, his hands going up your back, fingertips sending shivers down your spine as they searched for the bra clasp. However, you stopped them and placed them back on your hips.
“Not so fast,” you whispered against his lips.
Before he could protest, you kissed him again, now pushing him all the way back to lay down on the bed. Hovering above him, you started pulling up his shirt, which he quickly got rid of for you. You chuckled. Maybe you weren’t the only one who had missed this.
Now that you had free access to his torso, you began to place soft, wet kisses on his neck, slowly moving down to his chest and stomach, painfully taking your time.
You could feel Fred’s breathing get deeper and deeper as you kissed his abs, working your way down to his pants. Once there, you stopped the kisses for a brief moment, so you could focus on getting rid of that piece of fabric. Again, Fred quickly helped you out until you were both just in your underwear.
The sight sent goosebumps through your body and you inevitably bit your lower lip. He was already so hard, you felt the anticipation building up inside you.
You decided to torture him for a little bit – just a little bit – and carried on with the kisses, not taking off his underwear quite yet. However, Fred’s impatience was growing and he didn’t think he would manage to wait for too long. His hand found your hair and he started stroking it, running his fingers through it, a disguised way to guide your head to where he needed you the most. You realized his intentions, but you did not stop him. You let him take you where he wanted and soon your lips found his still covered length.
“Shit, Y/N.”
You smirked.
Slowly, you started pulling down the last piece of clothing until you completely freed him. He was so beautiful. You still had a silly smile on your face as you ran your tongue all the way up from the base to the tip, where you placed a gentle kiss. Fred’s soft moan reached your ears, a beautiful sound that made you even more wet.
You took him in your mouth and started sucking the tip in a slow, teasing pace, while your hand loosely stroked him. You didn’t want him to cum yet. You wanted him to last. And you were going to make him last.
Fred’s hand never left your hair, and he began to slightly pull it, asking for more. He needed more.
“Y/N,” he moaned. “Y/N, please.”
You ignored him and kept going in that insanely slow pace, taking your time. What was the hurry?
You heard a low groan, and felt him move his hips against you. You stopped.
“Behave yourself, Weasley.”
“Baby… Please.”
You smirked again, giving him one last stroke, and you let go of him.
Fred looked at you in a way you hadn’t seen in a while. His eyes were dark, full of pure lust. But also desperation and discontent with the sudden lack of touch.
You crawled on the bed until your face was right above his, and you kissed him. It was a deep, passionate, hurried kiss between two people who were eager for each other. This time, you didn’t stop Fred’s hands from going up your back and unclasping your bra. He took it off and you quickly felt his left hand on your right breast, squeezing it. His right hand, however, was going up and down your side, sending shivers through your bare skin. He rested it on your waist for a little bit before going down to your ass and squeezing it tightly. You moaned against his lips, your own impatience growing.
You only stopped the kiss to get rid of your panties, the last piece of fabric separating you from him.
Fred watched as you got off of him and started to pull it down your smooth legs. He could feel his cock throbbing at the sight of your completely naked body. You were breathtakingly, heart-racingly beautiful. He loved the lingerie, he really did, but he loved your body a thousand times more. And he would never get tired of looking at it.
When you straddled him again, skin to skin now, he thought he would cum right then and there. You smiled at him, that beautiful smile that never changed, and kissed him one more time. Fred placed his hands on your waist, squeezing it gently, as if to encourage you. Not wasting another second, you guided his tip to your entrance and slowly sank down on him, allowing him to get all the way inside you, quite easily given how wet you were.
“Oh fuck, baby,” he moaned.
Letting out your own whimpers, you placed your hands on his chest and started riding him, still slowly, still teasingly. Fred’s moans soon turned into groans, complaints. He was getting tired of the teasing, he was already on edge. He couldn’t take it anymore. With a swift move, Fred shifted the both of you so now he was on top. He started thrusting into you, quite roughly, earning a loud approving moan from you.
“Fred,” you gasped, digging your nails into his shoulders.
He kept going, pounding harder and harder, moaning as he did so.
You started kissing his neck, biting, sucking, anything that would leave a mark.
“Yes, baby,” you cried out as he thrusted even deeper.
The bed was making a discreet creaking sound that you weren’t sure if the people in the other rooms could hear. You hoped not, but honestly? Right now you didn’t care. The sound of Fred’s heavy breaths, moans, groans and whimpers were all you were paying attention to. Beautiful sounds that had the power to shut down anything else in your mind.
The rhythm he had created was sending you to heaven with every motion. His lips soon found your own again and he kissed you as if he hadn’t done it just minutes before.
“Fuck, Y/N. I’m close.”
“Me too.”
As you felt your body tense, Fred came inside you with a low groan, slowing down just a tad bit. He kept thrusting, however, knowing you were about to reach your climax too. And not long after him, you felt a wave of pleasure wash over you, and your body relaxed completely.
Both of you were panting against each other’s neck, your arms still loosely around his shoulders as he slowly pulled out and collapsed on top of you.
Hugging him more tightly, you felt Fred leave small kisses on your neck, and you closed your eyes, enjoying the extra-tingly sensation. You started to run your fingernails up and down his back, the other hand caressing his hair.
If you concentrated hard enough, you could hear the waves crashing on the beach, the giggling of children playing down there, and the muffled music coming from the muggle restaurant. You felt so at ease.
After a long moment of peaceful, comforting silence, Fred looked up and smiled. “I love you so much.”
You smiled back. “I love you too.”
Not bad for round one.
can I ask a prompt with some ppl giving pregnant catra a hard time? (is it still okay for pregnant catra? if not then it's okay too)
Vomiting TW
Time didn’t heal all wounds.
Catra was aware of it, and she didn’t take it personally when people glared at her or made comments. She drew the line at people trying to physically hurt her, but usually at that point Adora was between her and whoever was taking a swing, and she didn’t have to worry too much.
Even ten years later, Salineas was still the worst place to go. The kingdom had recovered nicely (due in no small part to the hours of sleep Catra had sacrificed to rebuild it), but memories lasted.
Mermista’s word trumped all feelings, though, so when Catra was invited to Salineas, no one could really protest.
“I’m still not sure why we couldn’t teleport,” Glimmer grumbled. “Pretty sure the boat is worse for Catra.”
It absolutely was. Catra had spent most of the journey leaning over the edge, or resting limply against it while Melog tried to comfort her. “Are you sure she’s okay?” Bow added, raising an eyebrow as he looked at her. Adora rubbed the back of her head nervously.
“Yeah. Yeah, of course I’m sure. I’m just... going to go check on her.”
She scrambled across the deck, joining Catra, who was starting to look a little green. “Maybe we should’ve just let Glimmer teleport us,” she said uncertainly. Catra shook her head furiously.
“No. No magic around the baby. Not like that.”
“Then can we at least tell Glimmer and Bow why? They’re worried.”
Catra raised her head to look blearily at their friends, who weren’t even trying to pretend they weren’t staring. “Maybe later,” she mumbled, dropping her head back against the edge. “If I survive this trip.”
They hadn’t told anyone outside of Mystacor they were trying to have a baby, and they hadn’t told anyone when they’d found out last week that Catra was pregnant. They were going to, but she was only six weeks, and they wanted to just wait a little longer, to be absolutely sure. They didn’t need pity if anything went wrong.
“We’re almost there. Just take a deep breath.”
Catra did as she was told - then groaned when the smell of salt water hit her sensitive nose. “Bad idea,” she groaned, leaning over the edge again. Adora rubbed her back pityingly.
It was a relief to finally dock, even if it took Catra an extra few minutes to collect herself and get up. They weren’t that far from the palace, but Glimmer still offered to teleport. “Nope,” Catra said, squaring her shoulders. She was not going to spend the rest of the night locked in the bathroom.
She felt a little better by the time they arrived at the ball room. It was Mermista’s birthday, which was pretty much the event of the season in Salineas. Catra was sure she would have reluctantly accepted if Catra had played sick to stay in Bright Moon, but... who was she to turn up some of the best sea food in the kingdom?
“Yeesh, I figured you guys would get here first,” a dry voice said as they walked into the already crowded room. They looked at Mermista, who was watching them with a dry smile and a raised eyebrow.
“Happy birthday!” Bow and Glimmer hugged her tight.
“Catra insisted on not teleporting for some reason so we had to take a boat-”
“What, was two hours of being sea sick better?”
“A little fresh air never killed anyone,” Catra said dismissively. Mermista rolled her eyes.
“Sure.”
Catra went straight for the food table, dragging Adora with her. “Well at least you’re feeling better,” Adora teased, squeezing Catra’s hand.
“Oh shut up-”
“She-Ra!”
Every time, without fail. Catra rolled her eyes, sighing, as Adora was waylaid by several admirers. She wasn’t about to wait - she was starving. And the baby was demanding shrimp.
And she wasn’t alone for long. Scorpia and Perfuma were already at the table, talking and snacking. “Hey Wildcat!” Scorpia said happily, scooping Catra into a hug. She winced, but smiled, patting Scorpia’s back.
“Hi Scorpia. You mind? I’m dying.”
Scorpia set her down, letting her get to the table at last so she could eat. “How was your trip?” Perfuma asked. “Bow mentioned you were taking a boat.”
“Yeah, enjoying the sights, you know.”
“Did you develop some love for the ocean?” Scorpia asked doubtfully. She’d seen Catra on boats a couple times. It never went well.
“I mean...”
Her attention was torn between Scorpia and Perfuma and the food, not to mention the din of the party. She had almost no warning before a rough hand grabbed the back of her shirt, throwing her to the ground. She landed hard, head snapping back with a crack. The world went blurry for a minute.
“-tra? ...okay?”
Perfuma’s voice drifted in and out. Catra grimaced, blinking a few times to clear her vision. Perfuma was kneeling beside her, trying to help her sit up, while Scorpia held Adora back from punching out the chef who had decided it was a crime for Catra to be enjoying herself in the kingdom she had destroyed. She sat up, grimacing, one arm crossing her stomach. Six weeks. She wasn’t fragile by any means, not like she would be in about six months, but that didn’t mean she could just be pushed around and thrown into floors, either.
“Hey!”
Mermista’s voice reverberated in Catra’s head. The princess cut through the crowd that had gathered, furious. “Adora, stop trying to murder my chef and take care of your wife. Sea Hawk, put him in cell.” The chef started to protest. “You don’t think you get to assault someone at my party and get away with it, do you?”
Sea Hawk appeared to take the chef away; there was no further protest. Adora knelt on Catra’s other side, gently sliding an arm across her back to support her. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah.” Catra took a few deep breaths. Her head hurt, but she was fine. The baby was probably fine. It wasn’t even really a baby at this point, just a bunch of magically bound cells trying to make a baby, it would suck if something happened, but it wouldn’t be the end of the world. It wasn’t like Catra hadn’t already taken to talking to her stomach when she was alone, or poking it experimentally, thrilled about the little life growing inside, or-
“Catra? Catra, hey.”
She was shaking, her breath coming a bit too fast. Adora had a hand on her cheek, trying to get her attention. “What’s wrong? Are you okay? Does something-”
The world turned over in a sickeningly familiar way. Catra pressed her face into Adora’s shoulder, groaning, as soon as they were settled wherever Glimmer had taken them.
“Glimmer-”
“I’m sorry, I just wanted to get you both out of there.” Glimmer sounded nervous. Catra wanted to look at her, but her eyes were still squeezed shut and she had no intention of opening them. “I’ll... I’ll be right back.”
She teleported away. “There’s a bed,” Adora said quietly. “Do you feel okay moving?”
“Sure,” Catra muttered through gritted teeth. That turned out to be a lie; she forced her eyes open as she was moved, and the world was spinning. Nope. “Adora-”
A small trash bin was forced into her hands before she could finish the sentence. And of course Glimmer chose that moment to return with Bow, Scorpia, Perfuma, and Mermista.
“Should... I get a doctor or something?”
Adora rubbed Catra’s back as she heaved. “No... maybe? I’d rather take her to Mystacor-”
“For a head injury?”
Catra cracked an eye open to look at Adora, who was watching her uncertainly. She nodded miserably, returning her attention to breathing and trying not to freak out. So much for keeping it to themselves.
“Well, she’s um... she’s pregnant, actually.”
Dead silence followed the words.
“I’ll kill him,” Glimmer declared.
“I’ll help.” That was Scorpia, surprisingly.
“Okay, okay,” Bow cut in. “Maybe murder isn’t the right idea...”
“Let’s not out-rule it completely,” Mermista said darkly.
“It’s probably fine,” Catra mumbled, setting the trash bin aside. “I’ve been sick for like, two weeks, this isn’t exactly a new development.”
“Seeing a healer might still be a good idea,” Perfuma pointed out. “When you’re ready to move.”
“Is this why you didn’t want to teleport?” Glimmer asked. Catra ducked her head, refusing to answer. “Why don’t I go to Mystacor and get someone, and if they  say you’re okay, I can take you home - that has to be better than suffering on the boat.”
“I didn’t think the boat would be that bad.” Catra sighed. “You guys don’t have to stand there and stare at me. Go back to the party - I mean, yes, get a healer first.” She’d feel better just confirming that everything was okay. “But it’s stupid to stand around staring at me.”
“It’s not stupid to want to make sure you’re all right,” Bow said. “And what about our future niece or nephew?”
“Why don’t you stay, Glimmer goes to Mystacor, and the rest of us can go back downstairs,” Perfuma suggested. She had spent enough time with Catra to know when she was starting to get overwhelmed. Scorpia started to protest, but stopped when Perfuma placed a hand on her claw.
“I’ll send up a staff member in case you need anything,” Mermista compromised. Catra nodded, since it didn’t seem like she had much of a choice. She knew her friends cared, though.
Everyone left, and Bow immediately joined them on the bed. “I didn’t know you guys were trying to have a baby.” He was doing a very good job at restraining his excitement and not shouting. “How far along are you? Do you have thoughts about names?” He gasped. “Will they have little cat ears?”
Catra smiled slightly, dropping her head to rest on Adora’s shoulder and letting Adora handle the questions. She knew her wife had been dying to talk about the baby with someone besides Catra, and it was nice to listen to their excited chatter fill the silence.
(Everything was in fact fine, save for the slight head injury, and the healer assured them that it was perfectly safe to teleport with Glimmer. Catra vehemently disagreed with that last part, but that was an on-going debate.)
The train
Tanjirou tries not to fall into despair as he spends almost everything he has left in a train ticket. He sits his sister Nezuko on his lap, glad that the two-year-old is distracted by all the new things she sees around.
They need to get away from that town. His mother's friend tried to convince him to accept the old carpenter marriage proposal. Yes, that could've solved a lot of his financial problems and he actually would've agreed to it if it wasn't because his nose let him know the man wasn't a good one. He was obsessed with Tanjirou and despised Nezuko.
He'd never marry someone who doesn't like his sister. She's the most important thing in the world to him. The only thing he has left.
He takes a deep breath as he hugs Nezuko. The girl giggles and strokes Tanjirou's hair playfully.
It'll be alright. He can get a job, he's strong, he can get money for the two of them. They'll be fine as soon as they stay together.
"Tanji," she mumbles. "Sad?"
"No, I'm fine," he says, kissing her forehead. "I'm happy because I'm with you!"
He bumps her nose when he says the last word, prompting Nezuko to chuckle again.
Then, someone sits right next to him. Someone who's scent Tanjirou likes immediately. He smells like someone who believes in justice, who has won many fights, who's very powerful but knows how to be kind.
"You have a cute daughter, I can see you love her so much," the stranger says, making him blush. Tanjirou likes his voice... it's strong, like his presence.
"She's my sister," he mumbles, shaking his head in order to stop himself from blushing more. Then, with a smile he adds: "But you're right, she's cute and I love her."
Tanjirou hasn't looked at him, but he notices that he shifts on his seat and gets closer to them.
"Rengoku Kyojuro," he says and finally, Tanjirou turns his head to look at him and the first thing that comes to his mind is... flames. Everything from his haori, to his beautiful hair and his eyes is like staring into a fireplace.
"I'm Kamado Tanjirou and this is Nezuko!" He grins, feeling more comfortable around him.
The girl moves on his lap and makes an attempt to grab Rengoku's yellow and red hair. Tanjirou stops her just in time.
"No, Nezuko! You can't do that," he scolds her, although he tries to be gentle.
"It's fine. I don't mind," Rengoku assures him, leaning his head closer to her. "I used to let my little brother, Senjuro, play with my hair when he was younger."
Watching with concern, Tanjirou bites his bottom lip as Nezuko grabs a bunch of Rengoku's hair, fortunately, she is very gentle.
"So why are you here?"
Normally, Tanjirou wouldn't answer a question like that, but he feels like he can trust Rengoku.
"I want a fresh strat."
"I see," Rengoku smiles, but for the first time, his voice is soft. "No family?"
Tanjirou shakes his head before looking down at his little sister.
"It's just me and her."
Those fiery eyes are staring right at his now, it's like he understands somehow.
"Accident?" Rengoku asks, even though the look on his face tells Tanjirou that he already knows what he's going to answer.
"A demon," he whispers because it still hurts, but also because he knows not everyone is aware of their existence.
As Nezuko finally lets go of his hair and moves back to lie on her brother's chest, Rengoku puts a hand on Tanjirou's shoulder.
"I won't let them hurt you again," he promises fiercely.
Tanjirou would like to say that he appreciates the sentiment, even though that seems impossible considering they'll be taking separate ways as soon as the train arrives to its destiny.
"Now let's eat!"
They bring more than a dozen of dishes. Tanjirou can't afford anything at the moment, so he tries to rock Nezuko to sleep in order to take her mind away from the food.
Rengoku must be only muscle inside that uniform if he can actually eat that much.
"Take as much as you want," he says then, startling Tanjirou.
"You're very kind, Rengoku-san, but you don't have–"
"I was not asking and please, call me Kyojuro."
"Kyo!" Nezuko says happily, surprising Tanjirou and prompting Rengoku to chuckle, delighted.
Tanjirou ends up taking just one of the dishes and the first thing he does is to feed Nezuko. At his side, Rengoku is enjoying his meal by pointing out how delicious and tasty it is after every single bite. He has so much energy and tends to be very loud, but Tanjirou likes it.
"Tasty!" Nezuko repeats, of course, delicious is a difficult word for her to learn so quickly, but Tanjirou is impressed that she actually learned the other one just by listening it from Rengoku.
"You're very smart, Nezuko," Rengoku approves, after eating the last one. "Shinobu is gonna love you."
The woman's name confuses Tanjirou... Is he married? Does he plan to take them to his house? Why he hasn't told Tanjirou about that?
However, he doesn't have time to ask. He feels the change in the air and smells the demon even before it appears.
Quickly, he pulls Nezuko closer, trying to think how to keep her safe.
"Don't let go of her," Rengoku says, before carrying Tanjirou in his arms. He tells the other people in there to move to the other wagon. They're confused, but do as he says as soon as they see the katana in his belt.
Tanjirou is still not sure why he's the only one being carried, but he doesn't question it. Rengoku puts him on the ground after securing the wagon.
"I'll come back for you two."
Thanks to the window, Tanjirou watches everything; he covers Nezuko's eyes when the demon appears. For a moment he worries about Rengoku, but he clearly knows how to fight. With a graceful movement, he cuts the demon's head quickly. The wagon lights up with firelight and Tanjirou shivers, impressed.
Rengoku is one of the demon slayers, he realizes; he's never seen one, but he's heard about them.
Knowing he'll be fine, he turns around to calm the people inside.
"Tanjirou!"
The voice startles him, however, he smiles as soon as he notices that Rengoku doesn't have any wounds.
"There are a few more inside," he tells him. "Stay here with Nezuko. I'll be back soon, alright?"
"A few more? But you..."
"Even though I find your concern absolutely endearing," Rengoku smiles, pushing Tanjirou's hair behind his ear. "You don't need to worry about me, I know what I'm doing. I'm a hashira after all."
It's the first time Tanjirou hears the word, although it seems it means something important. Still, he can't stop worrying about him.
Only when Rengoku comes back a second time Tanjirou feels like he can breathe again.
By the time they arrive to their destiny, the demons are gone and Nezuko is fast asleep on Tanjirou's lap.
"Well, it was a pleasure to–"
"Ah, my boy, don't talk to me like that for we are not parting ways yet. You really think you can get rid of me that easy?" Rengoku chuckles, taking Tanjirou's free hand.
"Where are we going?"
***
Turns out Shinobu Kocho is another hashira and the one who runs the butterfly mansion. That estate is dedicated to treat injured demon slayers and help them recover.
"Oh, yes. You'll fit perfectly here," the hashira smiles at him. She strokes his chin gently. "You're really cute."
"I didn't bring him for you to touch him," Rengoku smiles at the other Pillar, although he smells tense.
"Is that how it is?" Kocho chuckles, amused. "Already, Kyojuro? Didn't you just meet him?"
Purposely ignoring her, Rengoku walks closer to Tanjirou. Carefully and trying not to wake her up, he puts a hand on Nezuko's head.
"You'll be safe here," he tells Tanjirou. "And you can work for Shinobu while I'm gone. I have another mission already, but I'll be back as soon as I can, alright?"
Tanjirou wants to say that there's no need, that he's done more than enough after keeping them safe in the train and getting him a job.
But he doesn't say it.
"Thank you, Rengoku-san! How can I ever repay you?"
"Oh, well..." Rengoku grins, taking his hand. "Calling me Kyojuro will be a great start."
"Thank you, Kyojuro-san," he mumbles with a soft smile. The hashira looks pleased, his cheeks turn slightly pink.
***
Tanjirou learns quickly; his kind nature also help to calm down some of the most difficult patients. That's how he meets Zenitsu and Inosuke.
"I'm done!" Aoi hisses, turning to him. "He's all yours!"
"But this tastes awful!" Zenitsu complains, although he stops for a second to take a look at Tanjirou.
"You won't get better if you don't take it," he says, sitting on the boy's bed.
"You're truly worried about me, aren't you?" The blond says, surprised. "Even though we just met."
"Of course," Tanjirou points at his own nose. "I can tell you're kind and a very good friend."
Zenitsu blushes, delighted with the compliments. He ends up drinking the whole thing.
With Inosuke is more difficult to get him to trust Tanjirou, but after realizing that even though Tanjirou is just a nurse there he's still strong and knows how to fight, the boy with the boar head starts listening to him.
Then he starts receiving gifts, he likes them, but he doesn't feel like he deserves them. After all, the demon slayers are the ones risking their lives for all of them.
"Another one," Kocho observes, amused as Tanjirou opens another box with a cup inside. It's really beautiful. "Kyojuro should hurry, otherwise someone is going to steal what is his."
"What do you mean, Kocho-san?"
"You really have no clue, don't you?"
Rengoku arrives a few days after that conversation. Tanjirou is outside playing with Nezuko when she runs away from him, making grabby hands at the hashira.
The people around gasp with concern; for some reason they all are very afraid of the Pillars. Well, Tanjirou has met just two, but he doesn't think they could be described as terrifying.
Although the funniest thing to him is the fact that even though everyone is afraid of them, they're also attracted to them judging by some of the things he's heard lately.
"Kyo!" Nezuko almost yells to get the hashira to look down.
"Nezuko!" Rengoku grins, taking the girl in his arms, Tanjirou can't help but smile at them fondly. "I've missed you!"
After realizing that the Pillar is not angry, the people around look at him, but with interest this time. Tanjirou has heard that one of the kakushi wants to ask him out and he wonders if she'll do it. He really thinks they'd make a good couple.
"Now tell me, where's that beautiful brother of yours?"
Tanjirou blushes, not because of what he said, but due to the fact that Rengoku has zero volume control and everyone around heard him.
Nezuko points at him, prompting everyone to look in his direction. Then, Rengoku leaves her on the floor and Nezuko runs to keep playing with one of the girls.
Tanjirou gets closer because he doesn't want everyone to hear him talk to Rengoku. After all he's learned about the Pillars, he knows a few people are not going to like him calling Rengoku by his given name.
"Kyojuro-san. I'm glad to..."
The flame hashira doesn't give him any opportunity to think, he lifts Tanjirou, prompting him to wrap his hands and legs around him, he doesn't even realize what he's doing.
"I've missed you, my boy," Rengoku tells him, walking inside with him in his arms. "Let's go get something to eat!"
"But I'm... working," Tanjirou mumbles, still trying to figure out why he doesn't let go of him.
"You can take a break," Kocho appears in front of them suddenly. She kneels on the floor, next to the table. There are three dishes for them already. "Also, why don't you tell Kyojuro about your gifts?"
"What gifts?" The flame hashira asks, curious as he finally leaves Tanjirou on his two feet. When he sits, Rengoku does the same, right next to him.
"It's... Some of the patients are very grateful so they send me gifts," he explains, remembering each one. "It's nice, I–"
A girl approaches them, rolling her eyes at him as she leaves the flowers he received that morning in a vase over the table.
"These are from Murata, aren't they?" Kocho comments, although she looks really amused.
"Yes, I suppose he wanted to thank me."
Suddenly, he smells the tension coming from Rengoku, even though the Pillar is smiling, he doesn't look happy. He's crossed his arms over his chest and is staring right at the flowers.
"Red roses don't seem like an appropriate gift to say 'thank you'" he says, as one of his eyes twitches.
They don't talk about it again, but Tanjirou notices Rengoku eyeing the roses as he eats. He doesn't seem to like them.
As goodbye, he hugs both Nezuko and Tanjirou in his arms, almost like he doesn't want to let them go.
"I'll try to be back soon," he promises.
"So... That one is yours," Aoi tells Tanjirou as soon as the flame hashira vanishes.
"What do you mean?"
"You're hopeless, Tanjirou."
***
He meets some of the other Pillars a few days later. For some reason, the people in the mansion are afraid of them so they leave Tanjirou alone to patch them up.
As he puts a bandage around the sound hashira's arm, he notices he's being watched.
"You must be Tanjirou," he says, grinning as the nurse nods. "I know because Kyojuro said you were the prettiest one here."
Blushing, Tanjirou shakes his head.
"Then he lied to you," he says, thinking about all the girls and boys who work with him.
"Uzui Tengen," the sound hashira introduces himself. "And no, he didn't lie."
"He also said he'd cut your head off if you tried to flirt with Tanjirou," Kocho reminds him, walking inside.
"That he did," Uzui laughs. "Such a selfish Pillar. He should learn to share."
Confused, Tanjirou finishes patching him up and leaves so the hashira can talk.
When he walks outside, the flame hashira is already saying 'Hello' to Nezuko. Next to him there's a younger boy that looks a lot like him.
"This is my little brother, Senjuro."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Tanjirou-san!" The boy says, bowing at him. "I've heard a lot about you."
"I heard about you as well," Tanjirou grins, looking over his shoulder at Rengoku playing with Nezuko. "Your brother is very brave, you know? You must be proud."
"I am!" Senjuro says. "He's great! He deserves to be happy! And you as well! I can wait for you to officially become part of our family!"
Tanjirou has no idea what he's talking about, but he doesn't want to make his smile vanish so he doesn't say anything.
Nezuko immediately takes a liking to Senjuro and the boy seems to know how to take care of a child, judging by the way he takes her in his arms.
He's distracted by the sight of them playing together that he doesn't notice Rengoku moving until he's kneeling in front of Tanjirou.
Everyone around stops what they're doing to stare at them.
"Kyojuro-san!" He blushes. "What are you doing? You're a hashira, you–"
He interrupts himself when he feels rough hands over his, he's always liked Rengoku's hands, they're warm, but not soft. They make him feel safe.
"I fell in love with you when I saw you in that train," the flame hashira confesses, making Tanjirou gasp. "I wanted to wait a couple of months to propose because I didn't want to scare you off, but I can't wait any longer... Let's get married, my boy!"
Warm tears fall of his eyes and Tanjirou sobs because he finally recognizes the sweet scent that comes from Rengoku: it's love. And it feels so good to be loved...
"I'm sorry!" Alarmed, the Pillar rises quickly, looking a little bit lost. "If you don't want to marry me is alright, I just want you to be happy!"
Tanjirou chuckles, as his heart jumps inside of him with joy.
"These are happy tears," he explains, taking a step closer. He pulls him down by the uniform to give him a quick kiss on the lips. He's never seen a Pillar so flustered before. "Of course I'll marry you! I love you too."
Rengoku takes him in his arms, lifting him again, because that's his way to show his love apparently and nuzzles his nose. Some of the people around are crying, others are smiling at them.
As Senjuro gets closer, with Nezuko's hand in his, Tanjirou grins from ear to ear, feeling completely happy.
He's glad he decided to get on that train.
Stress Relief ~ Min Yoongi
Tumblr media
When you first suggested taking time away from the house, Yoongi was incredibly reluctant. He was snowed under with work, leaving him with little time to do anything else, but you could tell that he was beginning to struggle with carrying the weight of it all.
As you walked down the pathway to the beach, he stayed a few paces behind, scuffing his feet on the ground in frustration that you’d dragged him out when he had so much work to do.
“You love this place, at least try and look happy,” you sighed once you sat down, placing the picnic basket you carried down between you both.
“I was busy at home,” he reminded you.
You chose to ignore his comment, it had been the same excuse he’d used for weeks when you tried to distract him for a while, and you were getting sick of it. If he wasn’t going to take the time to look after himself, then of course, it was on you to pick him up.
“You’ve not gotten any fresh air in days, barely eaten, you’ll be thankful that I’ve brought you out of our home by the end of this,” you responded.
His head shook as his eyes looked down to the basket you’d brought, noting each of the items you’d packed. As hard as he tried to ignore, he soon spotted many of his favourites coming out of the bag which you’d packed specifically in the hopes it would try and cheer him up a little bit.
“You’re so stressed Yoongi, I thought this would help relieve some of it,” you smiled.
“I guess it just comes with the job, I can’t remember a time when I’ve not been stressed.”
Your eyes widen at how blasé he was with his remark, stress had almost become a natural emotion for Yoongi that he couldn’t struggle through it anymore. You couldn’t quite believe how bad the situation had become for him.
As he began to stretch himself out and get comfortable, he could feel your eyes staring at him as he groaned at the aches and pains that ran through his body. “I’m really doing alright, there’s no need for you to worry like you do.”
“I worry because this isn’t you, you’re exhausted and too stubborn to admit to it.”
You passed a plate into Yoongi’s lap, making sure that he filled it high with foods that appealed. There was no way you were going to sit back and watch him skip another meal or try and protest to you that he’d eaten whilst you were out.
“You need to remember the world around you Yoongi, you’ve become a fragment of your office, and that’s no way to live. You need to make sure that you help yourself before anything else.”
“There’s just so much for me to do, I don’t feel like I have the time to spare to do anything else. If there’s not someone needing me, there’s someone else blowing up my phone.”
Your head shook as he began to open up, “sometimes you just need to pick up the phone and tell whoever is on the other end of the line to just do one.”
“I’d get the sack if I spoke to someone like that,” he chuckled, “however much of a nice idea it does seem to try from time to time, it might be stressful, but I do still want to keep my job.”
The first signs of a smile in Yoongi resembled a beacon of light, reminding you that there really was light at the end of the tunnel to try and get him back to his usual self again.
“I thought we could come down here because you always used to talk about it as a calm place when we first started dating, it would be nice to go back to that mindset sometimes these days.”
His head nodded, reaching across to rest his hand over yours gently. The thought you’d put into taking care of him meant the most to him, knowing how much hard you’d dedicated to him.
“I’m the first person who appreciates how hard you work Yoongi, but I do worry sometimes that you carry too much weight on your shoulders. It’s alright for you to tell people that you’re fine, but I can tell that you’re not, even if others can’t pick up on how you’re truly feeling.”
“I hate how well you know me sometimes,” he spoke, rolling his eyes at you, “I guess maybe I have been trying to do a bit more than I need to, but I can’t help it.”
When it came to work, Yoongi struggled to say no, if something needed doing, he’d do it, he rarely ever trusted anyone else to give things a go. It usually worked out well for him, but this time the pile just felt like it was growing higher and higher for him.
“I’m sure if you spoke to the others, they’d help you out a little too, and you’re always saying how amazing management is. None of them would like to see you struggle, and I’m sure they’d be right there to help you if they knew how badly you were struggling.”
His eyes looked away from you and out to the ocean. It felt like it stretched as far as his line of work, never ending, and slightly out of control.
It was never a case of not trusting the others around him, but Yoongi was set in his ways. He had the ability to work for days without a wink of sleep, but that burnout was beginning to hit him, which you’d managed to pick up on too, determined to try and put it right.
“It’ll get better,” you smiled when you noticed Yoongi becoming distant from you, “it might not feel like it right now, but no stressful time ever goes on as long as you think it does.”
“It feels like it’ll go on until I find the end of this ocean,” Yoongi sighed, staring out at the see, “which might be a pretty long time, these bodies of water are pretty big.”
Your eyes rolled, nudging against his side, “what if the end of the ocean is closer than you think? Have you ever tried to look at things with a little more of a positive outlook?”
If there was one thing Yoongi was envious of, it was your ability to look fondly upon any situation. Perhaps you were right, if he tried to face his work with a bit more of a smile on his face then it might not seem as negative as he presumes.
“I’m sorry if I’ve been an absolute pain recently,” he admitted to you, “I guess I have been under a tonne of stress, I’ve just been too blind to see it.”
“Well, hopefully coming out here for a bit has helped clear your mind and relieve you of some stress,” you hoped, “but we all have moments like these from time to time.”
“Coming out here has been a great help, so thank you for organising it all.”
Your head nodded back at him, “we can’t go back yet anyway as there’s still all this food to eat, you might as well make the most of it before you bury yourself back into work.”
“I’ll fill myself up,” he assured you, “at least that’s one less thing for you to worry about.”
“I always worry about you.”
