Of all the marriages that were "meant" to happen or seemed to be going that way in Jane Austen but didn't (eg Darcy and Caroline, Darcy and Anne de Bourgh, Elizabeth and Mr. Collins, Elizabeth and Wickham, Edward and Lucy Steele, Marianne and Willoughby, Emma and Frank Churchill etc) how do you see them working out? Could any of them be happy?
Mr. Darcy & Anne de Bourgh - I can never see this one happening, but my money is on Anne dying either in childbirth or because pregnancy overtaxes her already poor health.
Mr. Darcy & Caroline Bingley - wrote that. Caroline would be a perfectly acceptable mistress of Pemberley, but her propensity to mirror Darcy and express his own opinions would make him worse.
Elizabeth Bennet & Mr. Collins - a disaster: the elder Bennet's marriage but gender-reversed. Lady Catherine would also hate her and that would make Mr. Collins anxious.
Elizabeth Bennet & George Wickham - I don't see how exactly this would come about because Elizabeth has no fortune and Wickham needs a fortune, but it would also be a disaster because Elizabeth would realize who Wickham really was and she would be horrified. Without support, they would be broke.
Edward Ferrars & Lucy Steele - This would be such a mess, Lucy would be sucking up to Mrs. Ferrars for money and trying to push Edward into multiple livings and promotions, which he would hate. Lucy is so much like Edward's mother that he would just be dying inside 24/7. He's not a pushover, but it would be really exhausting for him to fight Lucy on everything and he's trapped in this marriage, so he'd probably give in eventually.
Edward Ferrars & The Honourable Miss Morton - Not enough info.
Marianne Dashwood & Willoughby - wrote that. I don't think there is any way it would end well. Marianne will quickly discover what Willoughby did to Eliza and that he is far in debt. She's not responsible enough to get him out of debt and her view of him would be shattered. It's a tragedy.
Emma Woodhouse & Frank Churchill - the logistics just don't make sense, since Emma cannot leave her father and Frank has Mrs. Churchill, but I guess they could wait for the old lady to kick it and Frank could live at Hartfield... though he's not good with Mr. Woodhouse but I think he could learn. I think this marriage would be fairly successful, but Frank brings out the worst in Emma and that wouldn't be great.
Isabella Thorpe & James Morland - I don't think Isabella would cheat, I see that opinion a lot, but I think Isabella is sensible enough not to try that within a marriage. You can't "trade up" anymore once you're married. However, it would be bad. Isabella would waste money and James wouldn't know what to do with her. They'd probably have like 6 kids though because she's hot.
Isabella Thorpe & Captain Frederick Tilney - this would piss off General Tilney so much that I almost want it to happen. Almost. But honestly, I don't think Frederick would treat her very well if he was forced in some manner to marry Isabella and I don't want her stuck in a cruel marriage.
Mary Crawford & Edmund Bertram - I've written this a few times, I've gone both ways. In one story Mary is cheating on Edmund and he remains oblivious, in my novel Unfairly Caught, they are happy and both of them compromise a bit. Jane Austen herself has an opinion:
Experience might have hoped more for any young people so circumstanced, and impartiality would not have denied to Miss Crawford’s nature that participation of the general nature of women which would lead her to adopt the opinions of the man she loved and respected as her own.
Henry Crawford & Fanny Price - I personally ship this, but of course Henry has to change and without Fanny's help for it to be viable. Again, Austen wrote about it's possibility, so I trust they could have been happy if he wasn't such an idiot.
Colonel Brandon & Eliza #1 - with Eliza's fortune they would have likely been able to live comfortably. I imagine they would have been happy together despite the family rift. If everything happens as before, they would eventually inherit the family estate and live happily ever after.
Anne Elliot & Charles Musgrove - I think this could have gone really well, and honestly if I was Anne I would have gone for it. Charles is kind and smart enough, he'd have been much happier if Anne was his wife. Also, best in-laws ever!
Captain Wentworth & Louisa Musgrove - Louisa would try to be a great wife, but I think Wentworth would be too focused on losing Anne to be a good husband. He'd probably be very affectionate when on leave because he felt bad and then go off to sea to wallow in tragedy. Fortunately, Louisa's family would support her when she was alone.
Anne Elliot & Captain Benwick - I ship it. Captian Benwick would be devoted and he's a reader like Anne. They would spend time reading poetry together.
Sir Walter & Mrs. Clay - lol, I almost wish this one had happened. It would have been fun. Elizabeth Elliot would HATE IT and would probably marry to get away. It'd be fine, Sir Walter would be nice because his choices must be correct and Mrs. Clay would keep smiling and flattering forever.
Mr. Elliot & Elizabeth Elliot - he hates her, so it wouldn't happen, but if it did, it would be bad.
Mr. Elliot & Anne Elliot - This one is tricky. I do agree with Mrs. Smith that Mr. Elliot would respect Anne more and therefore wouldn't be cruel as he was with his first wife, but he's not a good person. I have trouble seeing this one happening because Anne does not want to marry him, but I don't think it would be happy if it somehow did occur.
Mr. Elton & Harriet Smith - he is a petty jerk, it's not a good match because Harriet cannot hold her own against him and he wouldn't admire her like he does Augusta. Bad times for Harriet.
Emma Woodhouse & Mr. Elton - Emma would rather enter a convent.
Mr. Knightley & Jane Fairfax - I don't know how or why this would happen, but given her intelligence and his kindness, this marriage would be successful.
That's all I can think of!

Tw: Opinions
What annoys me the most about this fandom is that people are always arguing about the most ridiculous things.
Why is it that we as a fandom seem to feel the need to attack each other for what we like and what we dislike.
Why does one character or ship have to be better than others?
If you don't ship something just keep scrolling. It takes more effort to open the comment section and leave a hate comment than to just find content that you do like. it's not that hard.
I think some people forget that we don't all have to agree. It's okay to ship a rare pairing that other people might find odd and it's okay to make a seemingly 'bad' character more three dimensional.
As long as its not harmful content that someone is making or consuming, why should it matter to you.
At the end of the day, it's all made up so who gives a damn.
I can like Regulus as a character without hating on lily because guess what, there is no reason to be constantly pitting them against each other. They are FICTIONAL.
Jegulus is not better than Jily or the other way around, they're just different.
I love Lily and the other female characters but it is possible for someone to dislike one of them and not for misogynistic reasons. Not everything is an attack on women.
Sometimes I like reading fics where certain characters I like are villanised because it seems funny, including Lily. That's not misogynistic. Especially not if I read ones where James or barty or sirius are the bad guy sometimes.
It's okay to like snape. I don't and you might not but that doesn't give you a right to attack the people who do.
What Im saying is, leave people alone and stop attacking them for having different opinions. If you're going to criticise a ship or character at least have the decency to do it in a place where the people who like said character or ship don't have to see it.
It really isn't that hard.
This fandom is supposed to be a free space to enjoy content you enjoy but sometimes doesn't feel like it because of the people who behave like their opinion should be fact and those who disagree can be harassed and bullied until they leave.
Just try to remember that just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's wrong.

Bucky Barnes - Timeless
“On a crowded street in 1944
And you were headed off to fight in in the war”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bucky made his way down the street, newly printed enlistment papers held tightly in his hand, the victory cigarette he'd been saving since he was eighteen pressed tightly between his lips.
"Those things will kill you y'know." Bucky looked away from his papers, fingers gently pulling the cigarette from his lips.
"Yeah doll, I guess they will." He flicked some ash on the ground, taking one last drag before putting it out with the heel of his shoe.
Bucky smiled down at the girl, admiring the blue dotted dress and pulled back hair. The soldier tipped his head and started walking, the girl walking along in suit. "So what's your name, soldier?"
"Sargent James Barnes, and what would yours be, doll?" Bucky spoke, folding the papers in his hand and stuffing them into his shirt pocket.
"All in time, Sargent" A laugh fell from her lips as she crossed her arms, head turning to look at the soldier. "When do you get shipped off."
The man took a deep breath, taking in the buildings and chatter of city as much as he could. "First thing tomorrow morning."
The girl let out a breath, looking down towards her shoes and watching her steps. "Do you have any plans for your last night in the city?"
A smile pulled at the corner of his lips, looking down at the girl next to him. "Well, I'd love spend it seeing a flying car, a real glimpse into the future."
Barnes stopped, tipping his head to look down at her. "And I'd love if a beautiful lady came with me." The girl had a smile, rubbing her arms up and down.
"The Stark Expo?" She questioned, a smile on her face as she avoided his gaze. "You really know how to impress a girl."
With a smile, Bucky pulled the pen from his shirt pocket . "Can I get an address?" He pulled the cap off, holding it between his teeth as he angled the ink to the back of his hand.
"I'll meet you at the Stark Expo." She said with a smirk, backing away from the soldier and joining the rest of the city.
His fingers grabbed the cap, watching her leave him in confusion. "What about the time?" He called out, voice raising due the distance she'd put between them.
"8:30!" She called out before turning around and blending into the crowd, a soft smirk on her lips.
"Can I at least have your name now?" Bucky called out, trying to look for her in the crowd of people, mentally scolding himself for losing the girl in the people.
Bucky listened as she hummed a soft tune, one hand spinning her around and the other holding her shoes. She'd begged to go dancing, the Stark Expo being a bust after about an hour.
She tried to get Bucky to stay out longer, saying "Just one more hour, please!" The begging had worked the first time, and second and almost every time after that. Before they knew it, they'd been out for almost five hours.
Finally he had convinced her to get home, walking through the empty streets as she spun and laughed. A bittersweet feeling sat in Bucky as he watched the girl, hating the fact that he'd have to leave her so soon.
The feeling filled his stomach more as she lead him to her house, a pain in his chest as the pair neared the front steps.
"Promise me something," She held Bucky's hands in hers, standing on the second or third to match his height. "Promise me that once you get back, you'll pick me up in one of those flying cars we saw tonight."
"Who would I be to deny that?" He gently handed her the shoes, watching as she ducked her head to wipe a tear.
"Don't cry, I'll be back before you know it." His thumb smoothed over her cheek, smiling down at her before pressing his lips to her cheek. "Go get some sleep, doll. You need it after all that dancing."
"Goodnight, Sargent."  She sighed, turning around and walking to her front door, looking back one last time before closing the door.
Shuffling the envelopes in her hands, the girl let out a long sigh. Bills, News, Letter, bills. She stopped in her tracks, a letter?
She took all the other junk mail and threw it on the table, sitting herself down in a chair and tearing open the envelope.
Her fingers carefully unfolded the page as she scanned over the writing, a smile forming on her lips.
"Hey doll, I'm sorry I haven't written sooner, you'd never believe how crazy it is here. I've stopped smoking, all the guys said you must be real special if I quit, but like you said, those things will kill you. How has Stark come along with those cars? I hope you've had your eye one, they're hoping the war will be ending soon, very soon, and when it does i’m going to buy one of those cars and drive you everywhere, show you everything. I’ve missed you, I hope to see you soon.
- James"
She read the letter about 10 times that afternoon and maybe 50 times that night, practically memorizing every word with a bright smile.
As the weeks went on, she'd receive and memorize every letter sent. She pray every night for the war to be over and for James to come home safe, even asking others to keep him in their prayers.
Wednesday, 1:58 PM. She pulled open her mailbox with a smile, ready to read her new letter and hear all about James adventures and his friends. Her smile fell, no letter, no anything.
With her lips pressed tightly together, she shut the mailbox and made her way inside. A feeling of anxiety grew deep in her stomach, ‘no, no, no’ she shook her thoughts away. James would be fine and he would come home, she had no reason to worry.
Until the next week when she still didn’t receive a letter. And the week after that, and the week after that.
A month. One whole month and no new letters. Every night she'd read the same letters that she knew word for word and prayed for a new one the next day, even if she knew better.
Wednesday, what used to be her favorite day of the week, seemed to just drag on. she’d check her mailbox, setting herself up for disappointment as she scolded herself for being a foolish one.
Like always, she pulled the mailbox open, expecting emptiness like the weeks before. She expected it too much that she almost missed it. Her eyes widened, a letter.
Her hands reached for the envelope, tearing it open and unfolding the paper. A smile graced her face, small tears of happiness forming in the corners of her eyes as she read.
"Doll, I know I've not written you in weeks, I'm sorry. I might not write again for awhile but i do not want you worrying, I can't say too much but I promise I will come home soon. I’ll come pick you up in one of those cars you like so much and we’ll go dancing all night, we’ll go dancing for days if you want, anything.
I’ll see you soon,
love, James.”
Air was caught in her throat as she read his letter, hugging it to her chest. She didn’t care if he never wrote her again, she was just happy he was still alive and coming home to her.
Three weeks later at 1:58 PM the girl stood in front of her mailbox, a smile on her face as she saw one of those familiar envelopes. Something was different, James familiar handwriting, that she’d spent time memorizing, was not on the front. Instead, it looked like it been typed out by some officials.
She carefully opened the envelope, a sinking feeling in her stomach. Her mouth opened, she felt tears forming in her eyes as blood pumped through her head.
James was not coming home in a flying car, he was not taking her out to dance for days. James was gone.
| "In a crowded room a few short years ago
And sometimes there's no proof, you just know."
Bucky looked around, Steve had dragged him to one of Tony's annual party's, claiming "You need to get out more, Buck."
He knew Steve wouldn’t take no for an answer. So, here Bucky was, looking around awkwardly as people dodged talking to him. It was suffocating being in a place with so many strangers.
Bucky made his way out to the balcony, a thankful smile on his lips when he saw no one else out there. He pulled a crushed cigarette carton out of his pocket, digging and searching for his lighter.
He starred out at the night sky, the city skyline being so bright against the darkness. Taking a drag from his cigarette, tilting his head down to the ground.
"Y'know those can kill you." Bucky jumped, turning around and seeing a girl behind him. She smiled up at him, moving to lean on the balcony railing next to him, Bucky eyed her dark blue dress.
"Yeah, I guess they could." He pulled the cigarette from between his lips and tapped it against the railing before stepping on it, looking back at the girl. “What’s your name?”
She smiled at him and turning towards the dark skyline, “Y/n. What’s yours?”
“Bucky.” He looked out at the city with her. The two of them sitting in silence for a moment, a cool night breeze blowing past.
“Do you want to go dance?” He heard her voice cut through his thoughts. She smiled at him, looking inside to see people dancing happily.
Bucky smiled, something about it, something about the girl, something about the scene, it felt right. “Of course, doll.”

You Forgot Me
Pairings: Bucky x Reader
Warnings: Language, violence
Summary: Bucky forgets who are after being controlled again.
“Stop it” you laugh loudly, Bucky on top of you holding you down while he tickles you, your hair is spread around the bed, a huge smile plastered on your face, your eyes shut from laughing, he loves the way your nose crinkles when you laugh. Bucky could seriously stare at you forever and find something new to love about you. “Stop, please!” You had tears coming from your eyes because you were laughing so hard. He put his arms up smiling.
“Fine, fine” he chuckles. He looks at you and you look at him. You let out a few laughs, you stared in his beautiful eyes. You lifted your hand to his cheek, his smile softened, so did yours. This is the perfect moment. You moved your hand down to his jaw. His hand moved to your hair touching it lightly. “You’re beautiful” he whispered to you and only you. He leaned down, your heart started to flutter. It’s finally happening. You closed your eyes ready for the kiss you’ve been waiting for since you met him.
“Bucky! Y/n! We’re outta here!” Sam barged in the room. Bucky quickly got off you. You sat up in bed and cleared your throat looking away. “Oh I’m sorry” Sam said walking out quickly. You looked at Bucky and laughed. The moment was ruined but you would still go for that kiss.
“Well I guess we better go” you nod feeling disappointed and walk out the room with him.
“There’s the happy couple” Steve joked. You rolled your eyes with a chuckle.
“Sam” you said looking at him
“Hey I’m just telling what I saw”. He says putting his hands up. You looked at Bucky, he wasn’t looking at anyone just staring off like he always does.
“You with us?” You ask tapping his shoulder
“Yeah” he snapped out of it “yeah, nothing happened. We’re not a couple” he walks out of the house going to the ship. Everyone looks at you, you just shrug sometimes he just gets in these moods.
We all board the ship. Steve drives with Nat.
“How are you and Mr. Bucky” Sam teases sitting next to you.
“Oh stop” you push him lightly “he’s being weird, we had a good moment a perfect moment then you ruined it” you look at him, he chuckles “I mean I don’t know maybe it’s just because the moment was ruined but he didn’t say anything”
“Did you?”
“Well, no” you sigh
“Maybe you need to make the first move.”
“Maybe” you shrug looking at Bucky, he’s sitting in the back writing in a little book. You smile at him, he’s been doing really good after everything he’s been through he’s showing real progress in maintaining a good thought process. Maybe you’ll complicate things and that’s why he hasn’t made a move. Whatever the reason is you’re happy for him.
~
Mission went south, Bucky got taken and is being controlled again. He’s hurting people left and right. He’s been sent on you guys to stop. You almost went back home, you can’t deal with this but your team needs you. Although right now you’re getting your ass kicked. Not by Bucky a different super solider. You were laying on the ground coughing up blood.
“Fuck” you whispered to yourself, you wipe your mouth and look at the punch that is coming to you. This one is going to knock you out and you know it. Steve stops it with his shield, he gets the guy. You slowly get up. Nat came over to help you.
“These guys are ridiculous” She says to you. You nod at her but you can’t take your eyes off Bucky. “Get him back” Nat pays you on the back. Everyone fights off the last solider, you ran after Bucky.
“James!” You yell, it’s dark of course. You can’t see much. Bucky stands in front of you he’s back a little. You look at him, he makes no move. “Bucky what are you doing?” You ask your voice shaking a little you know he can end you right here.
“Leave.”
“No. Not with out you” you stand your ground
“I’ll kill you!”
“No. No you won’t” you step forward. “Bucky it’s me. It’s Y/n. Don’t forget me” you feel your eyes stinging. You know he’s going to hate himself for this. “Bucky this isn’t you.”
“It is.”
“No. It’s not.” You hear him click a gun. Your breathing gets shaky. Bucky pretty much sprints towards you. You stand there ready for whatever is coming to you. He grabs the back of your head and smashes his lips to yours. You squeal and open your eyes. Bucky is kissing you. You kiss back, you close your eyes and wrap your arms around his neck.
“Y/n” he says resting his forehead on yours.
“You forgot me” your panting.
“No, I didn’t” he shakes his head, he’s panting with you. He looks up and sees the team. He nods to them letting them know he’s fine. He’s back.

Every time I hear "Fix You" by Coldplay, I always remember this AMV made by someone who shipped young Magneto and young Charles Xavier from the X Men First Class film series.
Because I saw an interview with Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, the actors, and they played that AMV in front of a crowd.
And they were laughing at it. The audience, the actors, the host.
Because it was amusing to them, the idea of "shipping" in general.
And there was this undercurrent of homophobia to their laughter, kind of like how when Brokeback Mountain came out, people laughed at it, made parodies, pretended it wasn't a sad movie about bisexuality and lost love and how homophobia keeps queer people quiet and yearning and painfully wondering what their lives might've been like if they'd been allowed to love the person they wanted to.
And it always makes my stomach lurch because it just felt so ugly to watch that.
Plus James McAvoy was clearly very uncomfortable with it, and kept laughing it off by pretending Michael Fassbender was his wife or something. It was a straight man, who didn't like how fans were interpreting his character as a bottom, which I understand, but.
They brought that content onto the show. Those people who drew art and made videos were not THROWING it at them. They just made it.
I don't remember how old this interview was, I just know it was waaaay before shipping and fandom became normalized. So I highly doubt anyone was really forcing them to look at that content.
Back when actors just didn't understand queer fans reading into homoerotic subtext. Although I guess.
That guy from winter soldier tv show proves that actors can still hate when fans read homoerotic subtext in their shows.
So anyway.
Long story short.
Fix You makes me think of homophobia, and my wires are fucking crossed.
The virgin James McAvoy vs the chad Charlie Day, who absolutely supported his character hooking up with the other whacky scientist from Pacific Rim, whose name I do not recall.

I have the craziest idea. How about instead of being rude and disrespectful to all the nice people that provide us with content we love for our niche lil fandom (you know…the ones that provide us with FREE fanart and fanfics?) we instead THANK THEM for being lovely human beings for giving us all this free stuff and if we disagree with or don’t like a fic or piece of art we move on without being shitty about it?
also guess what? If you don’t like a ship in a fic…there are filters. If you don’t like a trope in a fic…there are filters. YOU DON’T HAVE TO READ IT. Nobody is holding a gun to ur head (like Evan and Barty when Reggie interviewed James) and saying you will only live if you read a fic you don’t like the whole way through and then post ur horrible opinion online.
smh why are people like this???
Anyway…thanks sm for ahb I absolutely loved it and it’s the reason I want to do art history a level <333.
hi !!! love you!!! <333
the thing is the person who made that tiktok makes art for the marauders fandom ??? like genuinely where is the disconnect there?? what if ppl started making videos just ripping their art to shreds ??? they’re just a creative bashing other fandom creatives for some tiktok likes and engagement. truly vile behavior.
and it’s open season in that comment section. fandom is supposed to feel like a loving or supportive community and those fuckwads are content to make it as hateful and divisive as possible as long as they get a few tiktok likes from it. pathetic!
also it’s not a “you’re just mad ppl hate ur favorite fics/something u wrote” issue. bc no one is saying that. nothing is going to be universally agreed upon. like not everything is everyone’s cup of tea. it’s how you move on and talk about the things you enjoy instead of the ones you hate that make fandom a place for experimenting and make it an encouraging creative place. like grow up. talk about your issues w fics privately w friends. blasting it on the internet is just so fucking loserly.
N E WAYZ please let me know how your a levels go and thank you for being so sweet !! xx

Okay, I might, wait, no I actually don't understand your reasoning for any of this.
All you really talk about is the fanon and their character development arcs being bad, or just disappearing completely. And you also don't really like either of them. But guess what? JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE THE CHARACTERS DOESN'T MEAN THEY DON'T HAVE A GOOD DYNAMIC. If they were written how they should've been, I don't think this would be an argument at all.
Also, the fanon doesn't fucking matter. Ignore the fanon. Boom. Problem solved. I know that out of the fifteen thousand different fanon dynamics davekat are given, way more than half of them suck, and yeah. That's just people mischaracterizing them. Get over it. If you don't like a ship can you at least accept and understand the reasons that some people do like it?
Here's an extra little summary. The only reasons you don't like davekat are that, one, you don't like the characters (much at least) or the fanon dynamic(s) which I understand. But both doesn't mean they wouldn't be good together at all.
Thanks for reading this entire teeny tiny rant if you did
Wait, also, how the fuck is Karkat x KANKRI better than davekat??? Do you really hate it THAT much?
How can I ignore fanon if the people behind Homestuck like WhatPumpkin and Homestuck Independent Union (HICU) will always pander to them? Because they know it gets the most attention and will likely have them throw money at the team. Plus, much of fanon is because of the bad writing from canon because it had to pander to fanon too. Tell me, what reason is there for Rose to act like a dismissive bitch to let John fight alone against Lord English in Epilogues? Aren't they closest of friends? Why is she okay with letting him go alone without worry or fear that he could be killed? And if you say to ignore sequels like Epilogues or HS2/Beyond Canon, it will be hard for that since the very latter is technically ongoing and active by James Roach and HICU. They would rather prioritize completing a shitty sequel that was made as a money laundering scheme than to focus on finishing a Kickstarter game that is now in 11 years development or advertising the base webcomic itself to bring in new fans. I and many others love the characters of Homestuck. It just sucks that some either get flanderized or worst, wasted and thrown away because Andrew Hussie is a fucking hack writer who let his ego take over thinking he is the hottest shit ever. Plus, you forget that troll incestuous slurry is a thing. So technically, Kankri x Karkat is fine in that regard. Any troll ships, regardless from whichever session, is incest no matter what. Blame the alien trolls for accepting incest in their lives. Blame Doc Scratch for allowing inbreeding to be seen as natural. Blame Hussie for even implementing it in the story. HateMarriage is also a funny ship name for Kankri x Karkat. Karkat can finally hate marry himself and neither of them would be virgins.

Hey! I'm actually the same as the last anon, Lol. Older shipper from the 2000s coming back and being unable to recognize the characters i loved in fics until I found your works.
I guess teenwolf and twilight really changed the general perception of werewolves in the younger fandom. Bc it was portrayed as a chronic illness, accompanied by chronic pain and side effects, not a personality in POA. As much as I am not a fan of the way Remus is portrayed in canon from HBP and on, I can see a grieving man under social pressure making horrible choices (and being written poorly). How did we get from a person who described himself as following James and Sirius and being unable to rule them in as a prefect, not as brilliant as them and just happy they were his friends, to alpha-boss-masc dude??? I loved my chronicly-ill, people pleaser and self-hating Remus. I don't recognize that generic oc who is discriminated against for having superpowers.
Same for Sirius. He is a stereotypical bad boy, motorcycle and leather jacket included. He was described as tall and large sooooo many times. He's textbook anti-authoritarian, especially considering that the motorcycle is illegal muggle tech and that he's literally run away from his abusive wizard-supremist family. He's described as brilliant by McGonagall even when she thinks he is a is a mass murderer. He's so self-assured that he held his sense of self for 12 years in Azkaban and broke out to save Harry from Peter. He's not perfect, but he isn't stupid, or simpring, or that manic pixie dream boy.
I missed wolfstar that showed that the broken bits they had matched, that they knew each other's ugly bits, and cared for each other anyway. Hell, even the parts where they suspected each other and didn't trust each other. Reading your writings helped me find that back, and I'm so grateful for it. Wolfstar was my first ship as a little baby shipper when POA came out.
Hi Anon! Thank you for coming back, you are SPOT ON. I have dedicated my blog to spreading the gospel of Canon Remus so that he may someday return to us (and hopefully he'll bring Canon Sirius back with him!)
It's always a relief to hear that I'm not the only one that feels this way. The Marauders fandom felt very lonely when I thought I was alone in my distaste for Fanon Remus.

twenty questions for fic writers
Tagged by @bagheerita ❤️️
How many works do you have on AO3? 29
What's your total AO3 word count? 208,847
What fandoms do you write for? Stargate Universe mainly, though I've also tried out Stargate Atlantis and James Bond.
Top five fics by kudos: what do pretty monsters dream of? (SGA, Sheppard/Todd) down here they call us animals (SGU, Rush/Young, vamp AU) Valentine's Day (James Bond, asexual Bond) Consultancy Opportunity (SGU, Rush/Telford, PWP) Good Things Come In Threes (SGU, Rush/Young/Telford, P-with-P)
Do you respond to comments? Yes, every one. I know how anxiety-inducing it can be to leave a comment, so I really want to put the effort in to respond. It might take me a few days, as per the anxiety, but there's nothing I love more than discussing my fics!
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? so i bite my tongue and hope for blood (warning for non-con) Rush is drugged and does things to Telford. Telford understandably reacts poorly. No working through the trauma here - just trauma.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Hmm, looking through my fics I guess I'm not a happy endings kind of guy. 😂 Think the best I can do is Valentine's Day, with Q worrying for a lot of it that Bond is sexually pursuing him only for things to end up firmly in the asexual category with cuddling and talking and petting cats.
Do you get hate on fics? Nah, everyone's pretty chill. Though of course I'm not involved in any large fandoms and that's where the more aggressive people tend to end up.
Do you write smut? Hell yeah I do! When I started posting to A03 near the end of 2022 it was the majority of what I wrote. Recently I've not really been feeling it - ever since I really had to force things so I'd be able to finish the 10k final chapter of the threesome fic - so I've been writing other stuff. I'm sure the smut will reactivate at some point.
Craziest crossover: I've never written any, and I'm afraid I'm not a fan of crossovers at all. 😂
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Nah, not to my knowledge. Though I guess with AI scrapers you never know these days.
Have you ever had a fic translated? No, though of course I'd give my permission for it.
Have you ever co-written a fic before? Nothing posted to AO3. Back in the day I RPed Doctor Who smut and stuck it on FFnet, and got a warning slapped on my account for it. 👎
All time favourite ship? Young/Telford/Rush, either all together in a threesome, or paired off in any possible permutation. These three guys are the revolving door of my brain.
What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I haven't worked on Your Own Worst Enemy for a long while, a fic where Rush, Young, Telford, and Destiny are all recovering from different forms of sexual assault. Though I'm really pleased with what I've got so far, I'm not sure where the plot goes next and I want to handle the subject matter with care. I think it's the kind of fic I have to complete before I start posting.
What are your writing strengths? I really enjoy taking a character and changing their sexuality to all the possible options to explore the possibilities. I've been told I do this while still remaining in character because I do the work to get there instead of just slapping a label on. For example, I've written fics where Telford is straight, bi, gay, aromantic, and am currently working on one where he's asexual. I love seeing what shapes I can bend characters into while still remaining true to canon.
What are your writing weaknesses? I see writeblrs talking about doing big cuts in their editing process, trimming off thousands of words at a time! While I understand why, cutting a scene I've worked hard on is something I can rarely bring myself to do.
Thoughts on dialogue in another language? I think my knee jerk response would be to say yes, but don't overdo it. Even if the translations are readily available (found this skin which works for both desktop and mobile users and uses HTML instead of making the author fiddle around with editing the workskin for each individual translation) having to move to hover/click can take the reader out of the story if it's done to an extreme degree.
First fandom you wrote in? Doctor Who, in... 2007 I want to say.
Favourite fic you’ve written? down here they call us animals is the first one that springs to mind, as it was such a massive sense of accomplishment to finish a long project, and making my own vampire lore and history was really enjoyable. I have to give a mention to a memory, a distant echo (warning for memories of non-con) as well though. I feel like I crafted that with my bare hands from clay, you know? Telford's trauma... I could wax fucking poetic about it for days.

you’re a misogynist who likes jegulus?
literally where did i say that? don’t say shit and then hide behind the anon switch. i’m not calling you homophobic for not enjoying jegulus because it’s not homophobic. equally, i’m not a misogynist for not liking jily because it’s not misogynistic. i fucking love women, not my fault i love these two boys a lil more. i hate snape, can’t stand him, but no one’s calling me a man hater for hating him. you jily warriors just love throwing the word misogynist around and i’m getting sick of it.
blackinnon used to be a huge ship in this fandom until wolfstar got popular, then people put marlene with dorcas, and guess what? no one called it misogynistic. it just happened and people moved on. you wanna read jily? be my guest, but don’t hate on people that would rather see james with a man.

I saw your anti-Jegulus post, and wanted to offer my two cents. I actually don’t personally mind Jegulus as a ship itself (I wouldn’t call myself a fan or anything, but I’m not too bothered by it), but I actually do think a lot of the fanon portrayals of Jegulus have constant hints of misogyny. For example, I’ve seen a lot of Jegulus fics/headcanons about Lily having a baby and essentially abandoning her family in order to leave room for Jegulus raising Harry. It’s a very tired cliche of fans of MLM ships trying to get women out of the way any way they can, as long as they can get use out of them first (in this scenario, Lily giving birth to Harry).
Another common thing I see is the criticism/opinion that Jily is boring (which is absolutely fair, everyone is entitled to their opinion) but then project a lot of Jily’s tropes onto Jegulus (some that I’ve seen are matching patronuses, James being extremely infatuated and pining over Regulus, or making Regulus’ personality identical to canon Lily’s and then turning Lily into a bland, one dimensional character). I think where people are coming from is that because of this, it genuinely feels like these people would in fact like Jily, and the only issue they have with it is that Lily is a woman. I also find myself genuinely wondering if Regulus would be as popular as he is now if he were a female character.
I don’t think people who like Jegulus are individually being misogynistic, I think it’s more of the general concept of Jegulus becoming popular and the treatment of all characters involved has strong undertones of misogyny.
This isn’t meant to be hateful or combative btw, so I hope it didn’t come off that way. I just saw your post and wanted to offer my perspective on it.
oh no worries anon, your message is clear. and you are right, the jegulus fandom is misogynistic in the way that you say that they are, and i dislike that.
but the point of my post is that you can't exactly be mysogynistic towards lily evans, because the author herself is already misogynistic towards her. my point was that jily is no better than jegulus.
think of it this way, lily evans, the mother of the protagonist of the series, whose love saved the protag’s life should have a more prominent role in the series. but instead, her whole life is portrayed to revolve around male characters. her role in ths story is reduced to being a mother. [i'm not saying motherhood is a bad thing, i just wish it was explored with more complexity and nuance.]
jily is also the most basic, misogynistic heterosexual pairing ever imo. james is immature, lily is mature, and james changed for her because he wanted her to like him.
that's it, that's literally it. the fact that james 'changed' himself is the more important part of their dynamic. lily herself is not shown having any feelings for james, and how she went through the process of forgiving him. james is this manchild, with atrocious behaviour and he's expected to change for lily. it's like lily isn't even her own person anymore!
i don't like the jily dynamics as well because james was lowkey blackmailing lily into dating him and the way that their romance is pprtrayed, it feels like she just eventually accepted it, after he 'changed.'
at this point, even though it was lily's love that saved harry's life, she is such a non-entity in the series. harry is portrayed to be more interested in learning about james, and lily is depicted as having NO concrete friends in canon! the mary detail in canon hardly counts because that scene was more focused on snape! another man. seriously! every aspect of her life revolves around some GUY.
not to mention, after she graduates, guess what. she stays at home to take care of the baby while james becomes a strong auror! are you seeing this?! she's a trad wife. she's literally a stay-at-home mum because she decided she wanted to get knocked up in the middle of the war. the only counter-point to this is if voldemort wasn't after harry, she might have gone to work, but it is iffy, too, because who decides it's a good idea to have a baby in the middle of a war? she could have fought alongside james but nooo she has to watch while james puts his invisibility cloak on to goof around with sirius while her baby's life is in danger.
"it genuinely feels like these people would in fact like Jily, and the only issue they have with it is that Lily is a woman." <- you're right anon, but this doesn't matter to me as i feel that both the ships are equally bad.
tl;dr: jily is also a lowkey misogynistic in my opinion. jegulus is just as bad, and you are right, some of its fans are misogynistic as well.

20 QUESTIONS GAME
Thanks for the tag @jfleamont!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
6.
2. What's your total AO3 words count?
256,418
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Just HP!
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. Kindly Stopped for Me – Multi-chapter: Lily lives AU, in progress. 2. This Mad, Mad Love – One-shot: Fluffy Jily love confession. 2,185 words. 3. The Joker and The Queen – Multi-chapter: Jily fake dating, in progress. 4. A Rollercoaster Kind of Rush – One-shot: 6th year Lily realizing her feelings for James. 4,124 words. 5. The Brightest Star in the Sky – One-shot: Post-war Hinny stargazing. 2,293 words.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes!!! I love comments so much. They give me the encouragement I need to keep writing even when I'm feeling self-doubt or writer's block.❤️
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
As of right now, none of my completed fics have unhappy endings! I guess the closest is The Brightest Star in the Sky because it's post-war so grief is an essential part of the fic. But the story is about Harry and Ginny finding a moment of comfort in the midst of their pain. So...does that count?
My Jily one-shots were written so that I could give myself a break from the heartache of James being dead in Kindly Stopped for Me so they are all mostly happy😅 (although there is some angst in Mosaic Broken Hearts).
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably. This Mad, Mad Love. Although I'm just now realizing that several of my one-shots end with love confessions lol. I guess that's something I really wanted to write this year😅
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Occasionally on Kindly Stopped for Me. It hasn't been that bad, compared to what I know other authors have had to deal with, but yeah. I've gotten pretty liberal with the delete button recently, which has been good for my peace of mind, and I might turn off guest comments if this negative trend continues in the future (though I don't want to do that if I don't have to because not all guest comments are negative!)
I write for fun, as a hobby, so I have no time for people who think it's appropriate to leave unsolicited criticism or snarky comments on my work. Writing is an emotionally vulnerable thing to do, sharing writing publicly even more so, and I won't engage with people who don't respect that.
That said, I've been very fortunate in that the vast majority of comments I receive are lovely and encouraging. The Jily community in particular is a wonderful place full of people who have been so nice to me, and I'm constantly amazed by all the people (from the Jily community and beyond) who take the time out of their day to share kindness about my stories!!! Even a simple comment really really means a lot!
9. Do you write smut. If so what kind?
I haven't yet. But I might in the future. Who knows!
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
No. That's just not my thing!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so. I hope not!!!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope!
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Does the Jilytober Jilyexpress count? Because if so, yes. If not, then no. (but I'm open to it!) 😅
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
I'd definitely say Jily. It's the ship that got me into fanfiction (the first fic I ever read was TLAT!) and it's still my favorite. But Hinny is a very very close second! I love those two ships with my whole heart.
Outside of HP, I'd have to go with Percabeth. I've never read any fanfics (maybe I will someday), but the Percy Jackson books were a huge part of my childhood!
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I don't have one!! I know for a fact that I will finish Kindly Stopped for Me because I have the whole story plotted out and it takes up SO much of my thoughts at all times lol. My (possibly ambitious) goal is to finish it by February 6, 2024 because I posted the first chapter on February 6, 2023😅 But if I'm really productive I could potentially finish it by the end of 2023. We'll see! But it will for sure be finished either way.
As for The Joker and The Queen, I don't have the full plot outlined yet so I don't have a schedule in my mind of when it will be done. But I don't have any doubts that I'll finish it!
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm good at dialogue. That's something that comes naturally to me, maybe in part because I have a lot of theatre experience and have read MANY plays in my life. So dialogue is definitely the most essential part of that!
I also think I'm good at writing angst. It seems to come more naturally than fluff, even though I'm generally happy these days.😂
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Brevity. I know it's the soul of wit, but it is not one of my strengths!!
I wish I could be paid by the word like Charles Dickens. I'd probably be thriving financially if that was my life😂
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I mean...I took French for 7 years in school and then attended university in a bilingual English/French city. So...theoretically I could write some dialogue in French. Maybe? I can read it pretty well, even though I'm still not confident with speaking it. But I'm kind of rusty on it and I don't think I have the confidence to attempt to write creatively in French unless I have a beta reader who is more fluent.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
I've only ever written for HP.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
It has to be Kindly Stopped for Me. I'm really enjoying writing it and there are certain chapters that I am VERY excited to share with you all!
Tagging: @joyseuphoria, @suzyq31, @abihastastybeans, and @bronzeagepizzeria!! (I'm not sure who all has been tagged yet, so no pressure whatsoever if you've already been tagged or don't feel like doing this!)

Unpopular opinion time. HP ships that I can't stand.
Draco x Harry
Draco is obsessed with Harry because he is an entitled little twit who is jealous of Harry's popularity outshining him. Harry only saved Draco's life because that was the righteous thing to do. Heck, Harry even offered Voldemort one final chance at remorse. Do we hear Draco say thanks to Harry even once? And yes, I also think the Scorpius x Albus ship is basically another LOL attempt at shipping "Drarry".
Draco x Hermione
Is it only because Draco's and Hermione's movie actors were good-looking? Draco had pathetic emotional intelligence. No wisdom. No compassion. And still doesn't forget to call Hermione a Mudblood even on the Astronomy Tower. How much do people have to hate Hermione to think that she deserves a laughing stock of a character such as Malfoy?
Harry x Hermione
Their personalities are both too fiery. Both are headstrong and opinionated and if they were to live together in marriage, they'd blow the roof off the house.
Remus x Sirius
Sirius saying that he was bored and wished it was the full moon, and sending Snape down the tunnel when Remus was transformed... don't exactly scream "I love Remus more than anyone". It's just that with James gone, Sirius and Remus only had each other left. Doesn't mean anything beyond friendship. Highlighted by how Remus embraced Sirius "like a brother" in the Shrieking Shack.
Snape x Lily
Every meeting with Lily in Snape's memories ended badly. I really cannot fathom how Lily managed to put up with a dementor like Snape for seven years. I respect Snape, don't get me wrong, but respect is not mutually exclusive with dislike. Snape saw Lily as the only light in his cold, dark existence, but Lily is a person. Not an object for Snape to draw warmth from. I don't deny that Snape loved Lily, but that love is not love that Lily would appreciate. And the thing that disgusts me the most is how Snape grieved Lily's death as if it were his loss, and not hers.
Snape x Harry
Snape never cared about Harry. NEVER. What do you think he would have done to Harry if Harry were not Lily's son and only James's son? Wouldn't be surprised if he treated Harry like he treated Wormtail. Or like how Marvolo and Morfin treated Merope. And even if Harry didn't hate Snape anymore, he probably still intensely disliked him for all the bullying he endured.
Snape x Narcissa
Please! Why would anyone ruin their characters like this? The scene at Spinner's End shows the true extent of Snape's intelligence and capability as a double agent, and shows how Narcissa was willing to kneel down in front of a half-blood to beg for her son's safety. Nothing. Else. Don't. Extrapolate.
James x Regulus
What? Where did this even come from? If anything, Regulus probably hated James for stealing Sirius away from him and his family. And James despised pure-blood supremacy and the Dark Arts, and would likely only be cordial to Regulus, if they crossed paths, out of respect for Sirius. On a side note, now I'm wondering... if Sirius had to choose between saving James's or Regulus's life, how would he have chosen?
I guess Sirius would have sacrificed himself to save both his brothers, of course.
EDIT: removed "pro" tags and added "anti-" tags. Thanks to everyone who either politely or rudely pointed out a new Tumblr's mistake!

10 characters 10 fandoms
I was tagged by @birdkeeperklink thank you so much! I really had to think on these since, as per my url you can guess there are a lot. (sorry for the late reply. I got no excuse, really, except life continued to happen around me and deciding who to pick was really hard.)
in no particular order (though Loki is Number 1, I'm sorry everyone else), here we go:
1. Loki Odinson from MARVEL
I just love him so much I've written a 78K fix-it fantasy novel (not finished) to give him the happy ending he deserves. there is no other character I identify with harder than this one: a younger sibling full of rage, always feeling overshadowed by the older one, just wanting to prove their own worth and show the world that they are capable (i got over this a lot in recent years but my love for him still remains.)
Tom just plays him so perfectly and I am so heartbroken that the writers at MARVEL did not know what to do with him, so they killed him off (the Loki show doesn't count because that's not him okay.) he's always having a good time, he's snarky and clever and desperately needs a hug. how can you not love him?
Tumblr media
2. Mr. Spock and Leonard (Bones) McCoy from Star Trek TOS
Yes, they are two people but I just couldn't choose between them!
The grumpy surgeon with a heart of gold an the emotionally suppressed but deeply loving vulcan live in my heart rent free ever since I was a child. Spock was my first crush ever and his complicated relationship with McCoy has always fascinated me. they are two incredibly complicated people and there isn't enough space here to describe why. writing them is just as much fun as watching them and I actually own the autographs of both Leonard and De.
Tumblr media
3. James Wilson from House M.D.
he's a man of many contradictions: he is kind but also House's best friend, he loves people dearly but can also tell them to fuck off. he is confident and funny and he helps people without being a pushover. he loves all of his his wives but cheats at least once. he is a walking mystery which makes him a great friend for House and a nightmare to write. I just love him! also, that smile!
Tumblr media
4. Castiel from Supernatural
Cas is the character, truly! he can go from nerdy to badass in the blink of an eye. a cosmic being that plays dress up just to make one human smile, who should be nothing but an ant to him. he fiercely protects the people he loves and always tries to do the right thing. the character that inserted himself into the story against the writer's will and changed the narrative for ever. when he came on the show, I hated his guts. and look at me now...
Tumblr media
5. Zuko from Avatar the last Aribender
you simply cannot talk about redemption arcs without mentioning Zuko at some point. an exceptional character amongst a cast of exceptional characters. I once joked that 90% of his lines were just him screaming but that poor boy has so much rage inside him, and with all that trauma, can you really blame him? he is the epitome of character growth and a fascinating example of how the villain can become a hero without taking any shortcuts.
Tumblr media
6. Stephen Maturin from the Aubrey-Maturin series
if you read the books, you'll know why. this fucking lunatic is so oblivious to his own eccentricities that you just have to love him. nobody does it quite like him to be honest. no, Stephen, people will not think you're eccentric because you practice sword fighting on deck, however they might think that because you let loose 1000 bees on the ship and run around naked. he has no sense for proper etiquette and i love him so much for it. also, he get's on a ship without being able to swim and performs open brain surgery on deck. he is incredibly skilled and the best damn doctor in the entire fleet. also, his dynamic with his best friend/captain is one of the best friendships I've ever seen/read.
Tumblr media
7. Scrooge McDuck
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this might be an unusual choice but i grew up reading comics and at one point in my life i figured out that all of my favourite stories were writen and drawn by the legendary Don Rosa, who in his book "the life and times of Scrooge McDuck" created one of the most fascinating and fun to watch characters i've ever seen. starting from humble beginnings and rising to the top through his percevierence, fearlessness and ingenuity, inevitably losing everything he loved and ending up alone, only to be found by his family again, his story is one of my absolute favourites in literature. i know that due the never ending nature of comic books, he can never truly get his happy ending but I really wished he could.
8. Keeley Jones from Ted Lasso
Tumblr media
I don't think I've ever seen a woman like her in any media to be honest. she is so clearly feminine and embodies all the traits of a woman that would normally be depicted as bitchy, toxic and self obsessed but she is just none of those things. she is a girly woman who loves pink and cries and she is just so human and lovely and i love her so much for it! her friendship with Rebecca is also so amazing and feels very real and true to what friendships between woman are actually like. I just love her as a beacon of healthy femininity and can only hope that there will be more characters like her in the future!
9. Kim Kitsuragi from Disco Elysium
Tumblr media
the voice, the looks, the everything! the moment I met him I knew I wanted him to be my best friend for ever! his deadpan delivery combined with his dorkyness and his shere competence had me on the floor on multiple occasions. I have not finished the game yet but I have never had a companion this incredible in any video game ever! I could listen to him read the phone book for hours. when he went "daba doop doop dead" I died. also him jumping in when I fail a check has to be the most badass thing ever. I love you, Kim. please be proud of me. (also, I know he probably has a darker side to him that I am not seeing right now because I am always choosing the nice options but hey, the best characters are the complicated ones.)
10. Cole Turner from Charmed
Tumblr media
this show was so much better when he was in it! the half demon who crosses over to the good side without ever really changing his ways. he burns someone alive and laughs about it, drags a detective to hell and doesn't give a shit about civilians. even when he is completely human his solution to assholes is to punch them in the face. he loves power and controling others and looking good while doing it. I know him beind "good" was a whole thing on the show but to me the most fun about him was that he continued being evil but was now using his powers to help the good guys. show me another character that got redeemed into the hero team without losing his evil edge. Cole was just so much fun to watch but unfortunately his character got totally buthcered by bad writing.
No pressure of doing this but tagging:

can we talk j*gulus? i really would like to talk j*gulus, if you will. how the hell that crackship become such a fucking big deal. i left the fandom for a few years, so i was so surprised and confused about how rapidly they seemed to have escalated in popularity. to the point they're actually a threat to jily, who we don't know that much about besides the fact they were happily married! how the fuck that happened. was there any hugely popular fic that made it so? no hate to whoever likes them, and i meant it, james and regulus are probably my two favorite marauders era characters, alongside lily (perhaps i don't like the ship because of how much i like her?), but i just don't get understand the reasoning behind it. hell, regulus and lily as a ship is, like, a more obvious choice. i find regulus and remus to be a much more plausible ship, too (but that gets in the way of wolfstar, doesn't it). but james? with his black-and-white morality, and his fierce loyalty to sirius? he just would never "go there"! i also reckon regulus resents james way too much because of their shared brother (;D) to ever be able to see him in a romanticsexual way. and there's how they keep disregarding lily and her importance on james' life. lily, his wife and the love of his life, no less. that girl, who he died for. meant nothing to him, clearly. obviously nobody is obligated to like jily, and it's funny to say that because there have always been people who very strongly did not, but inside the marauders fandom itself!? it's kind of absurd, that's.
I feel personally offended by the idea any other ship is a "threat" to Jily 😂
I'll just go ahead and say my main issue is how *wrongly* Regulus' character is read. He was a pureblood wizard who, according to Sirius, "got in so far, then panicked about what he was being asked to do and tried to back out". This is actually right: Kreacher later tells how Regulus got scared about the house-elf's treatment, the note says that Regulus found out about the Horcrux and died believing he had destroyed Voldemort's Horcrux. This is not a story about repentance, about learning he was wrong.
So yeah, J*gulus annoys me because of Lily, though not in the sense that somehow James gets involved with Lily only for Harry to be born, or not even when he marries Lily after Regulus dies... But because Regulus Black would despise Lily and all other muggleborns; he was raised that way. He worshipped Voldemort's ideals—and by accounts, only had a problem with Voldemort's methods.
So James, who said he would never call Lily you-know-what (that boy couldn't even SAY it), who we've been told hated dark arts, would never get involved with any DE wannabe.
(But if you wanna tell a story about redemption or about a totally different character who happens to be Sirius' good-looking brother, go ahead, it's just not canon, not based on canon—that's the magic of fanfics and HC, I guess)
