ATTENTION TRANSGENDER COMMUNITY!!

for an independent project i am making a Protect Trans Youth zine that will include statistics about transgender youth's experience (w/bullying/sexual assault/prejudice/discrimination/etc), as well as an anonymous survey from the lgbtqia youth group I attend weekly.

some other things I plan on including - (I have currently lost my planning notebook, so I may continue to update this post for a bit)

1.) transgender/genderqueer figures throughout history, including: - in mythology/folklore - throughout the centuries

2.) how many homicides/attempted homicides against trans people (likely in the past year)

3.) how to support trans youth/the trans community around you.

4.) how communities in the past, before colonization/the spread of western culture.

if anyone has anything that they would like for me to talk about, any figures in mythology, communities and their gender systems/lack of systems, statistics, stories from personal experiences, anything at all, then please share in the comments.

This zine was co-written with a friend who jokes that going to grad school for business radicalized him against hyper-capitalism. It's a discussion, inspired by Sir Terry Pratchett's Vimes Boots Theory, on how big stores that claim to be offering household goods at affordable prices destroy local economies. It also discusses how to escape this particular part of poverty, using cooperative effort and mutual assistance.

Tier 1 supporters will be able to download a printable PDF of this zine, collated and ready to staple together, a full month before I release it to the public. It will be live on Patreon on February 1, though due to a glitch on Ko-Fi it's already available there. I love computers, don't you? Everyone else will be able to either download it or order a physical copy on March 1.

No AI was or ever will be used in the production of my zines, by the way. Mr. Kahl and I wrote this, and I did all of the art for it, either by hand or by digital manipulation.

my final from last semester that i made into a zine. cooked this one up in a couple hours before the critique (the ink was still wet!), so it's very raw and kind of sloppy but the sentiment is there. i love you trans people of color. we are the backbone of this community 🌟

Behold, Issue 1. Foxglove Presents: Young American Fascists. This started out as an essay I wrote angrily after being fed up with conservative groups on campus harassing individuals. This one is pretty plain but future ones will hopefully have artwork and visuals (Issue 2 is already done and full of visuals). Not all of my zines will be super political, some will be about subculture, music, really whatever I feel like writing but it will be primarily punk. Anyways, hope you enjoy! I was watching a YouTube video about making zines and the person ended it with a call to action to be informed about Palestine and was like "And what better way than by reading zines???" There are. Um. Better ways...

#like zines can be very good educational resources #but also there is absolutely no editorial oversight and people can just Say Whatever and then print their zines/put them online #so yeah no #zines should not be your primary source of information when there are more reliably vetted sources available #there are many better ways to educate yourself about this particular issue! #and it is much too important to learn about through what could just be some randomer's hot takes! #right on the heels of the james somerton scandal this seems very naive ngl #also like I know I haven't posted much about palestine #but like 1) I do not think that me posting about it on tumblr dot com wields all that much power and influence politically #2) I do not want to use the negligible power and influence I DO have to spread misinformation #and I am too upset by all this to fact check everything reliably #and 3) my blog is not the newspaper and I should not be anyone's source of information on current events #so I am not going to try and be that and get too upset to use tumblr at all #I don't use twitter precisely because it's wall to wall distressing stuff about current events
