The Seventh
Slight Spencer Reid x Fem!BAU!Reader
Tumblr media
Genre: Fluff
Warnings: None at all
Word Count: 1.6k
Plot: Reader hears a lot of rumours about the BAU before she applies to join the team. (Part 2 here!)
Author's Note: I love the idea of the BAU being notorious in the FBI, because honestly, they totally would be! And I would be lying if I said I've never crushed hard irl on a mysterious genius boy...
Masterlist
------------
Before you decided to join the BAU, you had heard all kinds of gossip about its members. It was a hot topic among your colleagues, but you could hardly blame them for the shameless act, when you left one ear open for it yourself.
Professionally, if they weren't called the BAU, people called them the "serial killer guys", since they couldn't seem to escape them in their cases. But among your lunch group, they were called "The Seven".
It was an embarrassing name in your opinion, too easily implying that the BAU was elite, untouchable. But the more you learned about them, the more you thought there could some truth to it.
Number One was SSA Hotchner, the unit chief known for his stone cold attitude. You heard a rumour that he once threatened the BAU section chief without so much as batting an eye. Anybody else would have been fired on the spot, but it seemed that Hotchner was so unrivalled in his job that he was asked to stay anyway.
Hotchner's opposite was SSA Rossi, who seemed to be the more "human" of the two, but that didn't make him any less intimidating. He was famous both in and out of the FBI, having built the BAU from the ground up, and written multiple best-selling books about criminal analysis. Why he decided to return to the BAU was a mystery to everyone, but you had a feeling he actually missed it.
Then there was SSA Prentiss. Everyone's consensus was that she seemed nice, but ultimately professional. People theorised that her political upbringing made her into a politician herself, but you once saw her in the BAU office laughing so hard that tears started rolling down her cheeks, and that's when you decided she couldn't be as stiff as the rest made her out to be.
SSA Morgan was the one everybody liked, on a shallow level at least. All your fingers and toes weren't enough to count how many people you knew had a crush on him. You've seen grown women visibly swoon when he walked by, which was partially hilarious for you, but also partially embarrassing for womenkind. You could see the appeal, somewhat, but he wasn't your speed.
Your favourite was JJ. Jennifer Jareau was the BAU's communications liaison and the only one you'd dare call a friend. You'd worked with her on multiple cases in the past, and in fact, she was the one who recommended you for the new position. She's a complete sweetheart, but you also knew that she once headshot an unsub right in the BAU office to protect Penelope. That fact only increased your admiration for her.
She was also the one to introduce you to the BAU's infamous technical analyst. You had heard of Penelope Garcia prior to that, but she so rarely emerged from her office that you almost thought she was a myth. The real person was unlike an FBI agent at all, always donning some combination of bright colours, feathers, and/or sparkles. Most people who'd seen her labelled her as a weirdo, but there was something about her, a sense of positivity, that you loved.
Last but not least, the one that slipped under everyone's radar, Dr. Spencer Reid. People didn't talk much about Dr. Reid because, well, there was nothing really to talk about. He was the youngest person to ever join the FBI, had an IQ of 187, and you thought he was far too pretty to be doing a job this terrible, but that's where the conversations usually ended.
Everything that could be said, envied, or admired about the genius had simply been covered already, and he offered no new fodder for the gossip trolls to chew on; he rarely left the office, he didn't mingle with the other departments, and frankly, everyone thought he was socially awkward.
Yet, you found yourself continuously coming back to him in your thoughts. Maybe, subconsciously, you wanted to join the BAU so that you could figure him out.
The first time you met Dr. Reid, he was giving the profile of an unsub to the larger team. His words sped by so quickly, yet with so much insight and detail that you found yourself scrunching your face in concentration in order to get it all, and that impressed you.
You had always been a quick study but you instantly knew that Dr. Reid would be a challenge, both professionally and personally, and you hadn't even got to know him yet.
As you submitted the request to join the BAU, you admit that the excitement of that challenge was at the forefront of your mind. And when you were called into SSA Hotchner's office a few months later, the thought rang in your head even louder.
"Agent Hotchner, you called for me?" You asked at his door, suddenly feeling timid in the face of your potential boss.
"Sit down, agent," he said without looking up. As you took a seat, he opened a file that was undoubtedly yours and looked up. His eyebrows were furrowed, but if what you'd heard about him was true, this didn't necessarily mean anything bad. And you were right.
"I have your test results with me," he began. "Firstly, I'd like to congratulate you for scoring the highest in your class." You swore he almost cracked a smile.
"I've also heard a lot about you. Your boss had many good things to say about your work ethic, your field experience, and your commitment to justice," he continued.
Now it was your turn to smile.
"But I want to know the real reason why you want to join the BAU." Your smile faltered slightly, something that you're sure Hotchner would pick up on.
He leaned forward in his desk, purposefully applying pressure on the situation, and you let out a quiet breath in preparation.
"The reason I wanted to join the BAU may not be new to you, but I'm looking for a challenge. I want to make a change." You started. "I understand that those two may be contradictory principles, but I believe I can grow and do a lot of good with the BAU."
"And what if the job gets too much for you?" He asks, a flicker of emotion that I didn't recognise crossing his face.
"I'm prepared for that," you said determinedly. "I may not know what this job will take from me, but I'd like the opportunity to prove that I can grow from it, sir."
Agent Hotchner eyed you for a moment before standing up. "Very well, then." He reached out his hand. "Welcome to the BAU."
You looked at his hand for a second, the shock barely registering, before scrambling to your feet. "Thank you, sir! I won't disappoint you!" You shake his hand grinning.
"And next time, just call me Hotch." He said, this time smiling amusedly at your enthusiasm.
"Got it, and thank you again, sir." You said, excusing yourself from his room with a noticeable skip in your step.
You tried to cool yourself off walking back to your department to share the good news, but the excitement proved too much to hold in when a familiar voice calls out to you.
"Hey babygirl, considering you just came out of Hotch's office with a smile, I'm guessing you're going to be our newest teammate."
You turned around, trying to swallow your giddiness, when you realised that person was none other than SSA Morgan.
"Agent Morgan," you stuck out your hand in greeting. "Nice to meet you, and yes, I am."
"Derek." He corrected, grinning as he shook your hand. "Looking forward to working closely with you."
"Just call him Morgan. Don't need to get too close to this player." SSA Prentiss nudged Derek out of the way, raising her hand to meet yours. "I'm Emily Prentiss."
You giggled at their closeness.
The rest of the introductions quickly followed, including hugs from JJ and Penelope, and a starstruck moment when Rossi left his office to personally welcome you to the team. But there was one person whom you hadn't formally met yet.
Dr. Reid had finally separated his head from his work amidst the commotion (plus a very strong encouragement from one Mr. Derek Morgan to "go get her, pretty boy") and walked up to you, a nervous gait in his step.
He stuck his hand out to your surprise, having heard that the doctor was a tad germaphobic, and shook yours. "Dr. Spencer Reid," he said. "But you can call me Spencer, everyone else does."
"Nice to meet you, Spencer." You tried out the foreign name on your tongue. "Honestly, I'm quite a fan of your academic papers. I'm looking forward to working with you."
You knew the genius was a bit awkward, but he instantly turned beet red at your words and retracted his hand. The thought that this was the first time somebody had complimented him this way made you a little sad. But you thought his reaction was incredibly cute, and apparently so did the rest.
"Pretty boy, pret-ty boy, is that how you should react around a lady?" Derek sing-songed, putting his arm around the poor genius' shoulders, tugging him down.
JJ shot you an apologetic look for her childish teammates, while the rest joined in to poke fun at Spencer. Although he was frowning, his voice betrayed no hints of annoyance. Clearly they were all very close.
You laughed along, feeling a growing warmth in your chest, and wondered if you'd be a part of this family in the future.
But first, you’d have to get used to being the Eighth.

Tumblr media
“Y/n… Wake up, Y/n…” a low, soothing voice spoke to you in your dreams.
“Hm,” you hummed, turning over in your bed.  “Y/n? Y/n! Stop! God, you’re crushing me! Wow, you smell nice,” the voice said.
You furrowed your brows.
What did I just hear?
You opened your eyes slowly, the sun from the window streaming in. You looked around the room, smiling as you heard the birds chirp from outside. It wasn’t until you realised you were on top of someone when you got up immediately. Who was the person, might you ask? Well, it happened to be your best friend Zuko.
“What are you doing in my bed!” You exclaimed, stumbling out and reaching for your robe that you had set on your nightstand. You wrapped it around your nightgown, turning to Zuko.
“Trying to wake you up. I’m bored, I’ve been up for a few hours,” Zuko explained.
“I was sleeping in. Ever heard of it? Maybe you should try it,” you smirked.
“I can’t do that when I’m hunting the Avatar,” Zuko said.
You went to your dresser to find a hair-tie. “Ah, right. You know, you don’t actually have to do what your father says, right?”
Zuko narrowed his eyes at you as you put your hair up in a messy bun. “You do know that I have to win back my honour, right?”
You chuckled, “You don’t have to do that. Your father is a jerk, full offense.”
“He’s not, he just… he just wants to set me on the right path,” Zuko said.
You sighed and went back to your bed, sitting next to him. You put your hand on his shoulder and looked into his ember eyes. “I know you hate when I say this, but you should listen to your uncle. You know Iroh was right about everything.”
“Shut up, Y/n. Uncle was captured and therefore, not here, so we don’t listen to him anymore.” Azula’s bratty voice sounded from your room. You and Zuko looked to see Azula standing in your door way.
You glared at her. “Don’t talk about Iroh like that, Azula.”
She rolled her eyes. “He doesn’t know what I’m saying, it doesn’t matter.”
You frowned. “Why are you even here?”
Azula crossed her arms against her chest, leaning against the door frame. “Making sure you two are up and ready to train.”
“It’s like, 9 in the morning. Can’t we eat breakfast first?” You asked.
“Breakfast is for people who don’t catch the Avatar. C’mon, Zuzu, Mai wants to see you,” Azula smirked.
Zuko nodded and got up. “See you downstairs, Y/n.”
“See you,” you waved, watching him and Azula walk away.
You sighed in annoyance. You hated seeing Azula first thing in the morning, and hearing about Mai. Mai was one of her accomplices, more or less her friend. Mai had a huge crush on Zuko ever since she met him when you all were kids. She bothered you a little bit, but only because she always got in your and Zuko’s way. Always head butting into your guys’s conversations, climbing all over Zuko, flirting with him by giving him a death glare. It was the worst. You wish she would leave him alone, he was your friend long before her’s.
You got up, putting on a red, short-sleeved tank and black pants. You brushed out your hair, putting it up into a pony tail, brushing your teeth and washing your face before you went downstairs.
As you climbed down the stairs of the beach house, you saw Mai and Zuko on the couch, Mai cuddling close.
God, can she can any more obvious?
“Hello, Y/n,” Mai said in her lifeless, mono-toned voice.
“Hey,” you said dismissivley. You went over to the kitchen, getting yourself a glass of milk and some turtle-duck eggs.
You started making yourself some breakfast, feeling an evil presence behind you.
“May I help you?” You asked, not needing to look to know who it was.
“Stay away form Zuko,” Azula threatened.
“I'm his best friend, Azula. He asked me to come on this trip, so no,” you said.
“You will, Y/n. You will stop reminding him of our fat, depressed Uncle and stop flirting with him for Mai.”
You scoffed, not believing what she was saying. “First of all, Zuko doesn’t need to fall into the dark hole of loneliness and mommy and daddy issues like you have. Second of all, we do not flirt. He’s my friend and we make jokes, that’s what it’s like having a friend, Azula. I can tell you’ve never experienced it.”
Azula narrowed her eyes at you. “Iroh was a big distraction and now that he’s gone, Zuko can focus on the task at hand, but not with you spewing useless nonsense in his ears. And you and Zuko do flirt. Mai is feeling a little sad and jealous because of it.”
“Wow Mai has feelings? That's news to me,” you laughed.
Azula walked up to you, fire sitting in her hand. “You do what I say, Y/n.”
“Or what?” You challenged.
“Or I’ll make sure you lose you bender forever,” Azula spat.
Your eyes widened, but you kept your cool. “We’ll see about that.”
Azula gave you one lasting glare before turning on her heels to leave. You scoffed to yourself, shaking your head.
She is so in over her head. Iroh being a distraction? Us flirting? No way in hell.
You scrabbled your eggs, putting them on a plate and going back to the living room. You only saw Ty Lee there, brushing out her pretty, long hair.
“Hey, Ty Lee, where’s Zuko?” You asked.
“Zuko went on the beach to train with Mai. I think she’s gonna try to kiss him tonight,” Ty Lee said. Her eyes widened. “Oh, uh, I wasn’t supposed to say that.”
You smiled softly, “No worries, I won’t mention anything to Mai. Thanks for letting me know.”
“Of course! You know, you should kiss Zuko instead of Mai,” Ty Lee said.
You furrowed your brows. “Isn’t Mai like your best friend? Shouldn’t you be telling me to stay away from him?”
Ty Lee shrugged. “I guess, but Mai and Zuko don’t look good together. You two do. You’ve always have.”
Her words made your heart flutter. You and Zuko? Being a couple?
No. That’s wrong.
You laughed off the discomfort you were feeling. “I appreciate it, but Zuko and I are just friends. I have no romantic feelings for him whatsoever.”
Ty Lee turned to you with a small smirk. “You sure?”
You nodded. “Yep. What makes you think otherwise?”
“Just the way you look at each other,” she said.
“What way do I look at him?” You asked intrigued.
“Like you’re secretly in love with him!”
You felt your face get warm and you looked away, hiding the blush that was coming onto your cheeks. “No, I look at him like he's my best friend and a dork, which he is.”
Ty Lee giggled, “Keep telling yourself that, Y/n. Just know that none of us believe that you two are just friends.”
Your eyes hardened at her. “Well, we are. I’m going down to the beach to train with them.”
“Have fun at staring at Zuko shirtless!” Ty Lee giggled.
You rolled your eyes, setting your plate and cup down to go outside. You spotted Mai and Zuko training, Zuko shooting fireballs at Mai. You smirked as you saw her lack a little, obviously being too focused on Zuko shirtless.
“Mind if I join?” You asked, strutting over.
Zuko looked to you, smiling widely. “Not at all. Go ahead and take a break, Mai.”
Mai frowned and look at you. She walked off, keeping a hardened stare at you. You smirked at her, walking over to replace her spot across from Zuko.
“Ready, hotman?” You giggled.
Zuko rolled his eyes. “Don’t call me that.”
“Sorry, no can do,” you said, throwing fire at him.
He dodged it easily, summersaulting and throwing fire your way. You ducked down, backflipping over to him and taking a hold of his arm, throwing him down.
You smirked, “You’re really bad, hotman.”
Zuko glared at you, “Oh, yeah? Watch this.”
He took ahold of your arm, spinning you around and throwing you. You landed against a rock, but you managed to hold your arms out to catch yourself. Zuko looked at you, worried.
“Are you okay?” “I’m okay,” you smiled.  “Okay, good,” Zuko said before shooting fire your way.
You moved out of the way, dodging it my just a few millimetres.
“You’re gonna regret that!” You exclaimed, making a huge ball of fire in your hand, throwing it Zuko’s way.
Zuko slid under the fire, standing back up and throwing flame after flame. You dodged each attack expertly, throwing fire of your own at him. You eventually got to where you were only a few feet away from him. You ran up, getting ready to jump up and pin him down, but Zuko was already one step ahead of you. He threw fire at you, making you lose your balance from trying to jump over it, allowing Zuko to take ahold of your wrists, pinning you down in the sand.
You let out an ‘oof’, looking up at Zuko’s face. You couldn’t help but stare. His forehead was lined with sweat, a triumphant and sexy smile overtaking his lips. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed hard, his chest heaving from trying to calm down.
Wow, he looks… so good. Damn, has he always had abs? Broad shoulders? When has his lips ever looked this soft?
“You okay?” Zuko’s raspy voice made your eyes snap up from his chest to his eyes. His eyes were bright gold, his pupils dilated at he looked deeply into your e/c eyes.
“Y-Yeah I just…” your voice trailed off. You struggled to find an excuse as to why you were looking at his body. “I um… was just wondering when you were going to let me go.”
Zuko’s eyes widened and he broke out of the trance he was in. He got off of you, his hands letting go of your wrists.
“Right, sorry,” he said.
“No problem. That was good, though. Aang definitely has no chance,” you smiled.
“I thought you were against my mission,” Zuko said.
You shrugged, getting up. “Well, I am, but you asked me to be here for support so I'm gonna support you, even though I think it’s wrong.”
Zukos smiled gratefully. “Thank you. That means a lot, Y/n/n.”
You blushed at your nickname, shrugging sheepishly. “No problem. Wanna go swim to cool off?”
“Yeah,” Zuko smiled.
“Great!” You smiled back. You two went back into the house, changing into your swim wear.
You put on a pink bikini top and a mid-waist pink bottom. You brushed out your hair, leaving it down. You went outside and to the more public part of the beach, finding Zuko, Mai, and Ty Lee there.
“Hi, Y/n! Oh, I love the pink! It suits you well,” Ty Lee grinned.
You smiled. “Thank you, Ty Lee. I think white looks great on you as well.”
“Thank you,” Ty Lee smiled. “Zuko, how do you think Y/n looks?” Ty Lee nudged the boy who was looking at the sand.
He looked up to you, his eyes widening. The last time he saw you in a swimsuit was when you two were 10, and you were in a modest one piece. He looked over you in your bikini, being surprised at how your body developed.
Wow, she looks… beautiful, he thought.
You noticed his stare, blushing and putting your hands behind your back sheepishly.
“Zuko?” Ty Lee nudged him again.
Zuko’s averted his eyes from your’s, blushing profusely. “You look… good.”
You smiled. “Thank you. Training really has helped.”
“I hear ya!” Ty Lee smiled. “Let’s go in the ocean!”
You nodded, feeling eyes on you. You turned around to see Azula and Mai staring daggers at you. You rolled your eyes, turning back to Ty Lee who was already in the water.
“This is going to be cold,” Zuko grumbled.
You turned to him, smiling. “C’mon, Zu, it’ll be fine.”
Zuko frowned, “I think I’m just gonna stay back and drink lemonade.”
You pouted, “Zuko! This is your time to relax! C’mon, please?”
Zuko looked at your puppy dog eyes and quivering lip, sighing in defeat.
“Fine.” You jumped up and down on the balls on your feet, clapping your hands in excitement. You took his hand, leading him into the water. Your stomach did cartwheels as he intertwined your fingers.
Why am I feeling like this? Pull it together, Y/n, he’s your best friend.
You ran into the water, chills immediately running up your spine. You walked until the water was up to the bottom of your chest. You sat down in the sand, the water then reaching up almost to your neck. You looked to Zuko who was playing with the wet sand.
“See? Not so bad,” you said.
“I guess,” Zuko shrugged with a small smile on his face.
You two sat in silence until Zuko splashed water at you.
“Really? We’re doing this right now?” You chuckled.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Zuko avoided eye contact, then splashed at you again.
You stood up, splash a big wave at him.
“You’re gonna regret that,” Zuko playfully glared at you.
You giggled, running away from him. Zuko kept splashing water at you, you turning around to splash him back.
“Your splashes are bigger than mine. Stop!” Zuko whined.
You smirked. “Make me.”
Zuko ran over to you, trying to catch you. You ran away from him, managing to trip over a rock. You landed on the sand, the water going up all the way to your neck. Zuko came at you and you started to splash water at him, only for him to grab your wrists roughly.
Your innocent eyes looked up at his, the feeling of him holding your wrists making your heart drop.
“Can’t splash me now,” Zuko said lowly.
You blushed a little, trying to fight against his hold. You kicked his leg and Zuko went onto his knees in-between your legs, trying to keep his hold on your wrists, but failing. You ended up pinning him down in the water, your legs moving to straddle his waist.
“I can splash you now,” you smirked.
You took one hand off his shoulder, reaching down to the water, but Zuko grabbed your wrist again. He looked up into your eyes, his eyes dark dispite the glaring sun.
You felt yourself lean closer to him, your eyes dragging themselves down his face to his lips.
They look so soft... so kissable.
Your eyes flickered back up to his ember eyes, seeing him doing the same motion you had just done. As your mouths were a few militers from each other, a voice interrupted you two.
You pulled away, looking back to see Ty Lee calling you two over.
You looked back to Zuko, noticing his face was a bright red. You got off of him in silence, running back to the shore, not bothering to wait for Zuko.
“Hey, what were you two doing over there?” Ty Lee asked.
“Just wresting,” you said quickly.
“Didn’t look like wresting. It looked like you two were about to ki-"
“No, Ty Lee!” You cut your friend off. “We did not kiss, we will never kiss. He is my best friend and that’s all he ever will be!”
Ty Lee’s eyes went wide. “Sorry, Y/n.”
You sighed, running your fingers through your wet hair. “It.... It’s okay. I know you didn’t mean any harm. I’m sorry for yelling.”
Ty Lee nodded, offering you a forgiving smile. “Well, it’s dinnertime. Are you hungry.”
“Yeah,” you nodded.
“Great! Let’s go!” Ty Lee exclaimed.
You nodded, following her back to the beach house.
Meanwhile, Zuko stood on the beach, lips in a frown. He had heard your outburst about you two only being friends.
“See, Zuko, she doesn’t like you like that,” Azula said.
“I... I thought she did,” Zuko said.
“Well, you know who does like you?” Azula smirked.
“Who?”
Azula rolled her eyes. “Are you blind? Mai.”
“Oh,” was all Zuko said.
“And I know you have some feelings for Mai. Just forget about Y/n, Mai is so much better.”
Not really. Was what Zuko thought.
“Alright, yeah,” but those were the words that he said.
“Let’s go, big brother. Mai is waiting,” Azula said.
Zuko nodded, walking back to the beach house.
Dinner was awkward. You and Zuko usually were always talking, but the only words you said to each other were “can you pass the rice”.“yeah”. It was awkward to say the least. After dinner was even more awkward.
You all were in the living room, talking amongst yourselves. Well, all of them except you. You were sitting in a chair by yourself, watching Mai flirt with Zuko, and Zuko looking like he was enjoying it.
What does he see in her anyways?
You sighed, taking a sip of your tea. You put your head on the arm rest, not being able to stop thinking about the beach.
How close you and Zuko were. How a million of butterflies were fluttering in your heart and stomach. How your head was a little dizzy and how you were leaning towards Zuko with no hesitation. How you two almost kissed.
You didn’t know what you would’ve done if you two had kissed. You were glad that you were interrupted, but a little part of you deep down knew that you wished you did kiss him. To feel his soft lips on your’s. His hands going over to your waist, holding you closer.
You shook your head. There was no way you two would ever do that, or could. Especially since Zuko seemed perfectly smitten with Mai.
“You know, you could make your move now. Right before Mai snatches him,” Ty Lee said, noticing you looking at Zuko longingly.
You shrugged. “Nah, it’s fine. I don’t want to make a move anyways.”
Ty Lee frowned and sat in front of you. “Y/n, we all know you’re in love with him, and that’s okay. Just tell him, I’m sure he feels the same.”
You groaned. “I’m not in love! He’s just my friend!”
The outburst had the whole room quiet. You looked at Zuko, who had a frown on his face, and Mai who had a smirk in her’s. You grimaced, getting out of your seat.
“I’m going to bed. Screw this,” you muttered before stomping away.
“Looks like Little Miss Perfect is jealous,” Mai smirked.
Zuko looked at your retreating figure worringly.
“I... I’m gonna go and make sure she’s okay,”
“What! Zuko!” Mai exclaimed as he got up and followed you to your room.
Once he got to your room, he saw you on your bed, sniffling.
“Hey, you okay?” Zuko asked softly.
You looked up, wiping the tears off your face. “Yeah.”
“Can I sit down?” Zuko asked.
You nodded, watching as he took a seat next to you.
“Wanna talk about it?” Zuko asked.
You sighed. “It’s just so annoying.”
“What is?”
“Mai.”
Zuko furrowed his brows. “Why?”
You chuckled. “You don’t notice how she is all over you? And follows you around like some love-sick polar-bear dog? It’s pathetic.”
“Well, at least she shows interest in me,” Zuko argued.
“Yeah, but she’s not the right girl for you,” you said.
“Then who is?” Zuko asked. You shrugged. “I dunno. Just not her.”
Zuko huffed. “Well, I think Mai is a good girl.” You scoffed. “Alright, Zuko, if that’s what you think.”
“Why are you so mean towards her?”
You glared at him. “Because, she literally interrupts everything! She holds the most stupid grudges, and she just can’t wait to steal you away from me!”
Zuko frowned, “I don’t belong you, Y/n.”
You groaned. “That’s not what I meant.”
“Then what do you mean?” Zuko challenged, looking you in the eye.
You got up, feeling awkward. “I don’t know.”
Zuko got up with you. “Do you like me, Y/n?”
Your eyes widened. “What?”
“Do you like me? Like the way Mai does?”
“I... I don’t know.”
“Why? Why don’t you know?”
You groaned, “I don’t know!”
“I think you do, Y/n. You’ve been sending mixed singals to me all day!” Zuko exclaimed. “What do you care? You’re in love with Mai!” You shouted.
“I’m not!” Zuko exclaimed.
“Yeah, you are,” you chuckled sourly.
“Even if I was, why do you care?”
“Because I’m in love with you, you idiot!” You yelled.
Your eyes widened and you slapped your hand over your mouth.
Oh. Shit.
Zuko’s eyes widened as well, but quickly turned soft and a smile grew on his face. “You do?”
You looked up at him. “Yeah... I... I guess I do.”
“Good.”
“Why is that good? You like Mai,” you said.
Zuko moved close to you, slipping his hand into yours. “I don’t. She’s nice and all, but you’re right, she’s not the girl for me. You are.”
You smiled a little. “Really?”
Zuko nodded. “Really?”
“Oh... wow,” you said.
“Yeah, wow,” Zuko grinned.
You felt his arm snake around your waist, your eyes flickering down to his lips and up to his eyes again. You leaned in, your eyes fluttering shut. Your lips met his and your heart exploded.
Damn. This is fucking amazing.

The Covenant: Lazy, Summer Day
Tumblr media
Tyler Simms x Reader
Word Count: 1,650
Summary: Tyler and reader enjoy a day on the water to get away from the heat. Based on this post by @saviorsong which you should all totally check out!
“I called in sick?”
“Yeah, this morning. See? We crossed your name off the schedule and everything.” A finger tapped rapidly on the big whiteboard that had everyone’s name written in dry erase marker.
Sure enough, there was a hastily drawn line going right through the middle of yours.
They really had thought you weren’t coming in. “That’s impossible,” you said confused. “Because I didn’t call in sick.”
“Alright, alright. I believe you,” the supervisor said. “You’re one of the normaler ones that we have and a normal person wouldn’t have driven clear across town when they already had the day off.”
Both of you stood there scratching your heads. Your thoughts were leaning towards this possibly being a dream. You had weird dreams all the time, right? And it wasn’t unlike you to be dreaming of work even when you were off the clock.
There was a good chance you would wake up any second now, still swaddled in bed sheets.
The supervisor had a completely different reaction. “Well, the building ghost strikes again! They must’ve called on your behalf knowing how hard you’ve been working. Just take the day off. We’re covered anyway.”
“Are you sure?” you hesitated. It felt weird taking the day for yourself when you were perfectly able to work. “Since I’m here, I could do—”
“Nope. Enjoy some of this weather. Summer is almost over, you know.”
With that you were ushered out the door and left standing on the concrete sidewalk, not a clue as to what you should do.
There were always things to be done at the apartment. You hadn’t cleaned the bathroom in a while…yikes. Tyler also had his collection of expired leftovers in the fridge that he was terrible about tracking of.
Oh! You could wash the cars, too! Tyler had finally gotten rid of his monstrosity of a Hummer a few summers back in favor of a classic sixties car that Pogue had helped him fix-up. He liked to keep it spotless.
Speaking of his car…you looked up and noticed it parked across the street. And it was definitely his. Not only were there not many of them still out on the roads, but that was clearly Tyler smiling at you in the driver’s seat as he waved you over.
“Were you flagging me down this whole time?” you asked. He nodded with a heavy dose of enjoyment sparkling in those baby blue eyes. “Sorry. It’s been a weird morning.”
“Didn’t expect to have to day off?” Tyler’s smile becoming more pronounced.
“Of course not—wait,” you trailed off in realization. “It was you. You’re the one who called in sick for me!”
He stroked your wrist through the window with his thumb. “You caught me. But don’t be mad, I promise it was for the greater good.”
Greater good? You raised both eyebrows. “And what’s the ‘good’ in question?”
“Weather man predicted we’re supposed to hit high eighties today. What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn’t drag you to the lake house to take advantage of it?”
“That’s a terrible excuse, Ty.”
“Fine,” he admitted with a laugh. “How about you’ve been working this whole summer, and I miss you and want to do something nice for you?”
On the inside you felt yourself vibrate with excitement but you tried to keep it together. You shouldn’t encourage him making plans without you, especially when they disrupted work, but you were a sucker for surprises. “Better,” you admitted with your nose titled up.
And he knew that. Knew that you weren’t really cross with him as he turned the engine over, jolting the car to life with a heavy rumble. “Come on, my lady. I promise that it’ll be fun.”
The lake house in question referred to one of several Simms family properties in Massachusetts, appropriately named for it’s position right next to a small, picturesque lake. The area was naturally beautiful with shimmering water that was encased by tall, shady trees that were a godsend when the sun became too much to handle.
The drive there went like it always did: fast, thanks to a good playlist and easy conversation, and soon Tyler was pulling up to the lake house.
Not wanting him to fixate on the fine dust the gravel kicked up, and how it was dirtying the car, you leaned over the center console to kiss him. It was just long enough to steal his attention.
When his hand cupped the back of your head, you pulled back. “Last one to the dock has to use the tacky orange kayak!” You stuck your tongue out at him as you dashed out of the car and towards the dock.
Unprepared for the challenge, Tyler sputtered as he tried to take his seat belt off with clumsy fingers.
You ran around the outside of the house and dodged trees as best as you could, laughing the whole way. You may have gotten the head start but you could hear the tell tale sounds of the man gaining ground behind you.
The dock was so close you could picture your victory as. Only a few steps more, you would’ve had it.
Then two arms wrapped around your middle in a steel tight grip, halting you in your tracks. A large exhale was forced out of your lungs at the sudden impact.
“No fair,” you whined. Slumping back into his embrace, you turned to look at his smug face. “I can’t match your stupid arm strength.”
Tyler laughed, the argument a familiar one. “We’ve been over this. If you can use the element of surprise, then the element of muscle is fair game.”
That was the agreement but that didn’t mean you couldn’t pout. Not everyone was blessed with good genetics and years of a background in competitive swimming.
“Well, let’s consider this a tie then because I refuse to use that hideous orange boat.”
Tyler hummed, the vibration noticeable against your back. “Nope,” he said. The answer was abrupt and before you could get another word out, you were sailing through the air, lake water rushing to swallow you up.
The shock made your lungs seize up and your limbs flailed in the haze of the foggy water.
Breaking the surface, hair and clothes plastered to your skin you paddled around to glare at him. The effect didn’t have the ferocity you hoped for because he merely but his hands on his knees and laughed so hard it seemed like he might tip over.
Dodging the water you splashed at him, he got the laughs under control and walked to the edge of the dock to give you a hand. You glared at it personally offended by the gesture. Those were the hands that had just thrown you in without any warning.
But Tyler was patient and held his hand out steadily until you were ready to grab hold of it. For a moment, you debated trying to sink him to the murky depths along with you, but as his impressive looking biceps flexed under the warm glow of the sun, you realized you’d have to take revenger later when you were more certain of your success.
With the added help, you hauled up to the dock. The access water from your clothes ran off, darkening the wood in random splatter patterns, and you realized for the first time that it was pretty hot out.
The sun was bright even with your hand covering your eyes as you looked up; not a cloud in the sky as the bugs buzzed around lazily.
“Sorry.” Tyler fidgeted awkwardly, bringing your attention back to down earth. “I didn’t mean to be, well, mean.”
“Most people would think you’re an angel but you surely have a competitive streak, Tyler Simms.”
He shrugged apologetically. After a moment, he stood up and called over his shoulder as he jogged away. “I’ll go grab a towel for you. Meet me in the cabin!”
It was hard to stay mad at him. Especially when he tried to make up for it by doing something cute, like literally running to get a towel. He really was puppy-like; a little reckless but very contrite when he realized he messed up.
True to his word, he did bring you a towel along with a whole bag of clothes he had packed for the trip. Figuring it’d be a waste to dry your hair—you’d be on the water soon again any way—you settled for patting down the rest of your body and changed into extra clothes.
After Tyler managed to coerce you into putting on sun block (he was strict about it, likely leftover from his swimming days, while you tended to be lazy about it), it was back to lake where each of you set off in a kayak.
And even though he had won the bet earlier, he took mercy and neither of you had to row in the garish orange kayak; a mercy on both pairs of eyes, to be sure.
The sun turned sweltering before it had even reached its highest point, the heat feeling like pin pricks all over your body. The water definitely helped. Between kayaking, swimming, and even a brief diving contest off the end of the dock, you kept cool enough.
Enjoying a late lunch under the shade of a large tree, you felt the pull of an after-lunch nap calling your name.
Tyler noticed the way your eyelids drooped and laid down on the blanket and pulled you into his chest. “Nap time?”
Utterly content, you nodded languidly.
“Alright then, let’s nap.” He pressed a soft kiss into your hair. “Thanks for letting me drag you here. This is perfect...”
The was the last words you heard as the summer heat, filling lunch, and buzz of cicadas lulled you to sleep.
_______________
We could all use a summer day like this. I’m contemplating writing more based on the other boys’ preferences too, but we’ll see. Hopefully this one was enjoyable!

pt 6
“No one deserves to have their home destroyed, or have their family members ripped away from them! I saw what the Fire Nation did in my own city and countless others. The Fire Nation isn’t what I thought it was.” Her eyes welled with tears. “And neither are you.”
(Y/N) rested her chin on her hands as Appa flew over the land. It had been a few days since she had joined the Avatar and his friends, but already had she experienced way more than she ever would have in her life in the Fire Nation. Just the other day, they had saved an entire town from a volcano! She wasn’t a powerful enough bender to control lava, but she did help steer Appa so the sky bison could use his airbending to cool it down. She and the group decided that it was best if they saved her firebending for a rainy day. People in the towns that they were visiting weren’t too keen on having firebenders there.
From Appa, if she looked down, she could see dark spots across the green and yellow lands. Burned land. She had seen enough of it from her balcony of her mansion back in the Earth Kingdom. Her father had explained to her why their soldiers burned the peoples’ land. “Destroying what they need to survive keeps them in their place,” he had said. She remembered her stomach turning sour as soon as the words left his mouth.
“For the longest time, I believed that what the Fire Nation was doing was good and necessary. I can’t believe I was so stupid.”
“Yeah, people from the Fire Nation tend to be pretty dumb.” Sokka polished his boomerang. She turned around to glare at him.
“You don’t get it. They don’t teach us in our schools that we’re burning down villages for the fun of it. They tell us that we’re only trying to help. They brainwash the kids into thinking that all we’re--all they are trying to do is make a better life for everyone.”
“Just because you didn’t know what the Fire Nation was doing doesn’t excuse them for what they did,” Sokka shot back. She huffed, feeling her anger growing.
“I never said that!”
“Well you’re acting like it!”
“I literally saved you from Fire Nation soldiers!”
“Guys, can we please stop fighting?” Aang sighed. “It’s making Appa uncomfortable.”
“Oh, well, we wouldn’t want Appa to be uncomfortable, now would we?” Sokka scoffed. She chucked her pillow at him.
“You’re the rudest person I’ve ever met! The Fire Nation as a whole does not represent who I am!” Huffing, she turned away from Sokka and tilted her chin up to the sky.
It was nightfall before anyone talked again. Sokka was fast asleep toward the back of Appa’s saddle. Katara had crawled over to (Y/N), who sat sulking as far away from him as possible. “I’m sorry for what Sokka said earlier,” She said, her blue eyes kind and soft. “We know the Fire Nation doesn’t define who you are as a person. It’s just really hard for Sokka and I to get comfortable with you being around. You see, Fire Nation soldiers raided our villages and killed our mother.”
(Y/N) felt her anger slip away and be replaced with guilt. If she had known that, she wouldn’t have let herself become so quick to anger. Sokka was dealing with emotions that she couldn’t possibly understand.
“I’m sorry for getting angry,” she said quietly. “I had no idea the Fire Nation had done that to you, truly. And if I could apologize on behalf of the entire nation, I would.” She sighed, pulling her legs close to her chest. “I’ve been around a lot of people who have done some very bad things, sometimes to the people I care about. I really cannot express how sorry I am, Katara.”
The girl smiled, her blue eyes watery from holding back tears. “It’s okay. We’ll bring the Fire Nation to justice one day.” (Y/N) nodded in agreement. “Would you mind telling me how the Fire Nation has hurt you too? I think it might help me understand you a bit better.”
She inhaled a deep breath. “Well, when I still lived on the Fire Nation mainland, there was a boy I really...liked. He was only fourteen, still just a kid, but he spoke up when he wasn’t supposed to. He was challenged to an Agni Kai, which is a traditional firebending duel. He went up against a person who was ten times stronger than him.” (Y/N) swallowed the sob in her throat that always formed when she thought of that day. “The whole point of the duel is that you win when you burn another opponent. He was burned very badly that day and was banished from the Fire Nation. I haven’t heard from him since.”
“I’m really sorry,” Katara said, and (Y/N) shook her head.
“Goodness, no, don’t even apologize. It’s nothing compared to what happened to you and Sokka. How about we get some sleep? I can’t imagine what tomorrow is gonna be like.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next day had proved to be very troublesome for (Y/N). Their group had divided, with Sokka and Katara choosing to follow Bato to their father since Aang had hidden his coordinates from them. She understood where the young boy had been coming from: when she had first joined the group, she had definitely felt like an outsider, but things had slowly gotten better. It was unfortunate that Sokka and Katara had left them, but (Y/N) knew it was now her duty to get him to the Northern Water Tribe so he could continue his waterbending training.
This plan went south as soon as the bounty hunter arrived. The beast she rode kicked up so much dust that it became hard for (Y/N) to see. She had lost sight of Aang and she knew he was in trouble, but the last thing she wanted was to blindly shoot fire and risk hurting someone. So instead, she stumbled through the dust until she could see properly.
“Look out!” Was all she heard Sokka shout before he knocked her to the ground. She groaned as she fell, opening her eyes to see Sokka’s blue ones staring down at her.
“What’d you do that for?” She grumbled, shoving him off of her.
“I saved you from a fire blast! A thank you would’ve been nice!”
“I’m a firebender! I can handle a fire blast, you can’t!” She jumped to her feet, ready to defend her friends from the source of the blasts.
What she expected to see through the dust was a bounty hunter or a Fire Nation soldier. Who she had not expected to see, however, was Prince Zuko. She felt as if the wind had been knocked out of her body. Seeing her old friend brought a flood of feelings back to her, but she tried her best to suppress them. She wanted to run into his arms and squeeze him into a hug. But then she pieced it all together. It was Zuko who had been hunting Aang. He was the one who raided Katara and Sokka’s village. A lot had changed since the two of them had last seen each other, that was obvious.
It took Zuko a few seconds to recognize her. She was still in her Earth Kingdom clothes, as the disguise helped her travel between cities without being recognized. But he would recognize her (color) eyes anywhere. He stopped in his tracks; his arms lifted for another attack.
“(Y/N)?” He asked. He glanced between her and the Avatar.
In her fifteen years of life, not once had she firebended against Zuko. But she had a duty to her new friends and to the rest of the world. She ran at him, flipped forward, and kicked fire into his face. Zuko’s arms cut through her fire. He grunted angrily.
“What are you doing?” He demanded. She didn’t answer. She shot fire at him again, but he dodged.
“I won’t let you hurt him!”
“Traitor!” Zuko roared, firing blasts back at her. She avoided them easily. She had always been praised for being light on her feet. Taking gymnastics with Ty Lee had allowed her to dance in between the flames. Zuko had only gotten better over the years. This would be a tough battle to beat. She kicked him in the stomach, knocking him off of his balance for a few moments.
“You guys get out of here!” She shouted to her friends. “I’ll hold him off!”
“We’re not leaving without you!” Katara shouted back. Zuko shot fire that missed her face by inches.
“Go!” She shouted to them. She shot fire blasts from her firsts, driving Zuko away from her. She heard Appa fly away and in her heart, she hoped they would come back for her. She realized a moment too late that the bounty hunter’s beast had reached its tongue toward her. Paralyzed, she fell to the ground, knocking herself unconscious from the fall.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She sat in the hold of the Fire Nation ship with her hands cuffed behind her back, preventing her from bending her way out. She had woken up in that dark room, with the only light being from the torches on the outside of the cell. It amused her a bit that she had been captured by the nation she once called home, but really, she had spent most of her time wondering when her friends would come for her. It would be incredibly dangerous for them to infiltrate a Fire Nation ship, especially Aang. He was the prize that Zuko wanted, after all.
Speaking of Zuko, he had been sitting in front of the bars of her cell since she had woken up. They both had been silent. She wanted to speak to him, but she wasn’t sure what to say. It was obvious the Agni Kai had changed him for the worse. He had been absolutely ruthless when they were fighting in the village. It had taken everything in her to fight him off, but it obviously hadn’t been enough.
The heavy metal door swung open and she looked up to see Iroh, Zuko’s uncle. She had always liked Iroh. He told her funny stories whenever he visited the royal palace. He had played Pai Sho with her on more than a few occasions. He was a kind man, who didn’t really fit in with his family at all. She sat up immediately, a bright smile on her face.
“Iroh!” She said cheerfully. “It’s wonderful to see you.”
“Zuko,” Iroh scolded. “What is our dear friend doing in a cell?” Zuko glared at her.
“She’s with the Avatar now. She’s a traitor.”
“Traitor is a harsh word, in my opinion,” She replied. “I think I like the word rebel more.”
“Don’t get cheeky with me!” Zuko snapped.
“Is this true, (Y/N)?” Iroh asked. She looked away from him and refused to answer.
“Where did the Avatar go?” Zuko demanded. She scoffed.
“As if I’d tell you.”
“As your prince, I demand you to answer me!”
“So, am I a traitor, or are you still my prince? My head is killing me, Zuko, I can’t really keep up right now.” Humor was how she was choosing to deal with the pain of seeing the disappointment in Zuko’s eyes. She knew she was doing it for the right reasons, but she had let him down.
“You’re just as insufferable as you were when I left.” She felt the anger inside of her boiling.
“I’m insufferable? Says the boy who is still serving a country that banished him.”
“That’s why I need the Avatar, (Y/N)! So I can finally go home and restore my honor!”
“We both know it’s not going to be good enough for him, Zuko.”
He turned toward his uncle. “Leave us.” Silently, Iroh left, but not before flashing her a sad smile. “I can’t believe I thought that I would ask for your hand in marriage once I returned home.”
She scoffed. “Were you planning on filling me in of that plan in one of the letters you wrote to me?”
“Letters? I never--”
“Exactly. Even if I had stayed with the Fire Nation, I wouldn’t have agreed to your proposal. You might’ve been banished, Zuko, but it’s not hard to send a messenger hawk.”
“Is that why you became a traitor? Because I didn’t write to you?”
“Zuko, I promise that not everything is about you. Have you seen what the Fire Nation is doing to people? To innocent people?”
“It’s what they deserve!”
“No one deserves to have their home destroyed, or have their family members ripped away from them! I saw what the Fire Nation did in my own city and countless others. The Fire Nation isn’t what I thought it was.” Her eyes welled with tears. “And neither are you.”
Zuko stormed out after she said that. (Y/N) lay back down on the ground and cried quietly as she mourned over the friend she once knew. The old Zuko was long gone.

Kit & Ty’s reunion (Fan Fiction) - Part 2 - A sense of déjà-vu
Characters by @cassandraclare. The events take place three years after the Dark Artifices.
Kit had disappeared into his bedroom after training, in order to shower and dress for dinner. He tried five different shirts, before settling for the first one. He kept pacing, cursing, until he gathered up the courage to walk out of his hiding place.
When he finally came into the Institute’s dining room, Kit realized that he had no reason to be nervous after all. Ty was nowhere to be seen. There were two Centurions though, sitting at the table, with their backs very straight, as if a cord was pulling them upward. Was that part of the training at the Scholomance? Kit wondered.
One of them introduced himself as Anush Joshi. He was tall and dark haired, and had a friendly face, Kit thought.
The other was a girl, with white blond hair. Kerstin Lindquist. She had apparently grown up at the Stockholm Institute. She was very pretty, and looked more like a Barbie doll than a Shadowhunter. But Kit had learnt that, where Shadowhunters were concerned, looks could be deceiving. Deadly so.
They were both wearing casual clothes, rather than their Centurions’ uniforms, and that helped Kit warm up to them. So far, his encounters with Centurions had not been the friendliest. That was an understatement. He could only count one of them he actually liked. Well, “liked” was a big word. Diego Rosales, who was now the Inquisitor.
They made polite conversation with Simon and Isabelle, who had joined them. Clary and Jace were apparently caught up in Institute business.
“So, any juicy news from the Scholomance?” asked Isabelle, as they were having dessert.
Kit saw Anush and Kerstin cast an uneasy glance at each other.
“Not much fun, actually” said Anush, closing the subject.
“Is Tiberius getting along well with everyone? I know Maximilien Verlac holds him in high esteem”.
“He is the best of us” Anush said simply. “He actually makes us all look like sword-wielding idiots.” Kit couldn’t help but notice the fondness in Anush’s tone as he was speaking of Ty.
“Yes, but what about friends?” enquired Simon.
“He has friends. We are his friends” said Kerstin defensively. “But he does keep to himself most of the time. Himself and Irene of course.”
Irene? Kit felt his heart squeezing into his chest. Blood pounded in his ears, a mixture of dread and rage.
“Oh, I heard about Irene” said Isabelle, her eyes glittering. “She’s a Carpathian Lynx right? Catarina Loss told me all about her. Where is she now?”
Kit felt relief wash over him. He hoped no one had noticed his emotional rollercoaster. Wait- Tiberius had a Lynx?
“Yes, well, Catarina Loss is the one taking care of her, while Tiberius is away” said Anush.
“So I guess he doesn’t have a girlfriend” Isabelle pursued. Kit made a silent prayer to thank Isabelle and tried very much to look uninterested.
“Well, he is definitely popular with the female crowd” said Kerstin. “Although he is gentle and kind, he is as difficult to approach as a wild animal. And girls do love a challenge. Better yet, a mystery. Of course, being drop-dead gorgeous is certainly a bonus. But he is not interested.”
“What do you mean, he is not interested?”
“Girls – even boys – gathered the courage to ask him out, but he never said yes to any of them. Well, from what I’ve heard. Tiberius is a gentleman and doesn’t talk about those things. Anyway, it seems that after a while, people stopped trying. Some even started calling him “the marble statue”. Beautiful as a greek god, but cold, emotionless” Kerstin sounded angry. “Rejection and jealousy make people spiteful”. Kit decided he was growing to like that Kerstin girl.
“Of course, people who actually know him, know that this could not be farther from the truth” said Anush. Kerstin nodded vigorously. Kit felt a twinge. How well did they know Ty? Well enough, it seemed. Was any of them secretly dating him? Was that the reason they were uneasy earlier?
“Talking about Ty, will he not be joining us?” asked Simon.
“Sometimes he gets engrossed in work. Skips dinner. I will bring him food later”. It was Anush who had spoken.
“I’ll do it” said Kit, speaking for the first time in a while, before he could stop himself.
Everyone at the table turned to look at him. So much for being inconspicuous.
They all started heading to their rooms a few minutes later and Kit exchanged briefly with Simon in order to know which bedroom had been assigned to Ty.
*****
Kit tried to ignore his growing excitement and the hard beating in his chest as he hurried down the scarcely lit corridors of the Institute. He was just turning around a corner when he collided with a tall figure. They both stumbled on the floor, Kit landing on top of the stranger. Kit lifted himself on his elbows to take a look at his victim. His heart skipped a beat when he recognized who it was, even in the darkness. Not a stranger at all.
“Kit” said the not-stranger.
“Ty.”
Kit moved then, but did not stand. Instead, he kneeled so that he was sitting directly on Ty’s chest.
“Does this feel like déjà-vu to you?” Kit was relieved and surprised he had managed to sound calm and casual. That’s it. Get it together. Stay cool. He flashed his best smile. “Although, it seems, the tables have turned.”
Despite the dimness, Kit could not miss the two perfect V shaped eyebrows raising as Ty answered. “If so, I make a poor criminal. I didn’t even have time to fill a backpack with stolen goods before I got caught.”
Kit’s smile grew even wider. When had Ty learnt to respond to jokes? To make jokes?
“Didn’t you? Is that a stolen knife you are carrying or are you just really happy to see me?”
A look of confusion crossed Ty’s face. Well, maybe not all jokes.
Kit stood up, lending a hand to Ty, who gratefully accepted it. As their hands touched, Kit felt a little fire igniting in his body. Well not that little. And it was spreading. Stop. Stop it now. Stay calm. Stay cool. You’ve got this.
“So, I was actually looking for you. As you did not join us for dinner, I wanted to bring dinner to you. Your friend Anush told me sometimes you skipped meals. But not on my watch. The Angel forbid my bodyguards pass out on me, when I am in such grave danger” said Kit, in what he hoped was a conversational tone.
They were both standing now, facing each other. Although Kit had grown several inches in the past years, Ty was still taller than him. Damn. Would he ever stop growing? If Julian was any indicator though, Ty’s height was not a surprise. He was leaner than Julian, though not as lean as he used to be, his muscles had developed and his shoulders were broader and… Kit was grateful for the cover of darkness while he was making this assessment.
Speaking of which, Ty’s gaze seemed to be moving over Kit, mainly focusing on his hands, searching for something? That’s when it struck Kit. Food. He had just announced to Ty that he had brought him dinner. Kit wanted to smack himself. What kind of idiot finds a lame excuse to go see the guy he has a crush on and actually shows up without the excuse.
“You can see I have no food on me” said Kit, before he could take it back. Kit wanted to smack himself. Again.
Ty just smiled. “I can see that you brought the dinner I was going to eat before you came to see me.”
“Says the criminal without the booty”.
“Order out?”
“I have a better idea” said Kit. No need to tell Ty he already had dinner. He could eat twice. He needed the fuel. Right?

Tattoos Together (6) // Tyler Seguin
Tumblr media
summary: the week at tyler’s childhood home is coming to a close. have you made the most of your time with your best friend? or have those pesky feelings gotten in the way again??
word count: 2.3k
author’s note: OKAY. this is the second to last part of this fic, i believe. (there may be an epilogue.) I’M SORRY THAT THIS TOOK SO GODDAMN LONG... on the brightside, the wait for chapter seven will not be as long as this one was. i promise. please let me know what you think!
July 2017
Jamie didn’t know what happened but when he woke up on the second to last day at the Seguin house, but you and Tyler were fine. After spending the entire week as a buffer between the two of you, he was pleasantly surprised and completely shocked to find you cooking breakfast together. Tyler stood at the griddle while you sat atop the counter with a dopey smile on your face. “Good morning, Jam.”
“Morning, Jamie.”
“Good morning, guys,” he spoke slowly as he settled into one of the stools at the island. His eyes shifted from one to the other, wondering what he’d missed to be waking up to this domestic scene.
When the food was finished, you stood to grab plates for the three of you and Tyler poured the coffee. Without asking, he fixed yours up just how you like and slid it into your hand as he stepped around you to join Jamie at the counter.
You weren’t exactly planning to spend the morning by Tyler’s side. You’d woken up early and sat out on the front porch with a book while you waited for the rest of the house to wake up. Tyler was up fifteen minutes after and came barrelling out the front door with the dogs right behind him for their morning walk. You offered to go with him without a second thought.
The whole thing was a little bit cliche. As you walked, you inched closer and closer together until you were so close that your hands kept brushing. Tyler wanted to grab yours so bad, but each time he pulled away like he’d been shocked.
When you got back to the house, he suggested chocolate pancakes for breakfast and then he sucked you into another conversation and you couldn’t escape to the guest room. Nor did you really want to.
“What’s the plan for today?” Jamie asked after breakfast had been cleaned up.
Cassidy entered the room with her hair and make-up already done and answered his question, “I don’t know what you boys are planning to do, but we’re stealing YN.”
“Is that so?” Tyler asked, as if he was going to challenge her over your precious time.
Twenty minutes later, you were seated between his sisters and gathering all the intel on everything going on in their lives. You knew which friends were no longer friends, which classes sucked the most, which boys were occupying their time. They made you laugh, just like Tyler, and you found yourself wishing that you could spend more time with them than one day.
“We met Maisy,” Candace said softly after you all paid for your manicures. Cassidy tossed her a wide-eyed look, but she shrugged her off. You turned and raised your eyebrows at them, having expected a bit more information. “And?”
“She was nice.”
You couldn’t help but laugh at her statement and the girls smiled happily at your reaction.
“That’s all you have to say about her?” you asked. They nodded softly as they followed you out to the car. “Tyler seems happy with her.”
“He’s in denial.”
You didn’t respond and the girls dropped the conversation.
About halfway back to their house, Cassidy directed you to take a left into a shopping center. She pointed across the lot to a boutique and asked you to pull up and park there. You did as she asked without a question or complaint. They led you into the shop, waving at the women behind the counter before leading you over to the dresses.
“What do you need dresses for?” you asked as your fingers felt the material of each dress on the rack.
“Oh, we don’t need dresses,” Candace said. “You need one.”
“For what?”
“Tyler’s bringing you guys to his favorite club tonight,” Cassidy explained. “He’s been talking about taking you since you planned this trip. You need something to wear.”
They shoved you into the dressing room with a pile of dresses in every color, and then sat on the bench outside and waited for the fashion show. It was hard to find one that they both agreed on, and one that you also felt comfortable in. Finally, after trying on nearly every one, you stepped out in a satin red slip dress.
“You’re a smokeshow,” Candace stated, smacking her hand down against the space on the bench beside her. Cassidy nodded in agreement. “That’s the one.”
You completely agreed.
When you changed out of it, Cassidy’s hand popped over the door to hold onto it for you. You changed back into your street clothes and gathered the discarded dresses to place them on the rack outside the dressing room. By the time you were done, the girls were already at the register and paying for the dress you picked out.
“What are you doing?”
“Don’t worry about it,” Cassidy spoke as she handed a card over. “Ty’s got it covered.”
---
“You didn’t need to pay for this dress,” you grumbled through the bathroom door to Tyler as you got ready for the night. “I have a job.”
“So do I!”
“Do not compare our paychecks,” you warned.
His laughter rang out, joyous and childlike, as he spoke, “I won’t.”
While you hung out with the girls, Tyler and Jamie went golfing. When they got back, they were both a little drunk. Tyler hopped in the shower first, then Jamie, and when Tyler was done he ended up on your bed waiting for you to emerge dressed and ready to go.
“What color is it?”
“Red.”
“I like red,” he remarked. You caught a glimpse of your smile in the mirror and immediately corrected it. You looked like you were a school girl giggling at something the class clown said.
You put the finishing touches on your makeup and smoothed your dress down before stepping out of the bathroom.
The moment he saw you, Tyler’s lost all the air inside his lungs. He shamelessly trailed his gaze along your legs to your chest to your lips, until finally reaching your eyes.
“Jesus Christ,” he muttered. “Are you trying to kill me?”
He wasn’t even trying to hide it anymore, was he?
“Come on, I need a drink.”
Tyler kept his distance as best he could while you pregamed. His friends finally showed up, so it was easy to find distraction, but that red dress was everything he could’ve asked for and his eyes kept finding their way to you. The dress clung to your every curve and he couldn’t stop thinking about peeling it off you. He felt the way his pants tightened and excused himself to the bathroom to get his head in the right place.
His phone chimed as soon as he was alone and Maisy’s name lit the screen up as if she’d known he was in the middle of some very bad thoughts.
Have fun tonight, my love!
He stared at the message for a moment, and then he shut his phone off completely.
The club was packed from wall-to-wall and the moment Tyler realized they’d have to weave through dozens of people, he reached out to take your hand in his. He tugged you closer once your fingers were intertwined and led the way to the velvet interior of the VIP section. When you reached the booth, you began to slip away but he tightened his grip until he was done ordering champagne for the group.
As the waitress flitted off to the bar, Tyler sat. His free hand slid across your back, curling around your side to squeeze lightly and direct you closer to him. You felt the heat in your cheeks as he did it and looked at Jamie nervously. He looked away as soon as your eyes met.
You ended up in his lap with both of his arms around your waist. One of your arms fell heavily over his shoulder, the other remained in your lap nervously picking at the hem of your dress. His hands felt heavy against your skin, but he seemed unaffected by your closeness as he carried on conversations with the people around him. One of his hands came to rest on your thigh and each time his eyes fell to its placement, he thought about digging his fingers into your flesh.
All the while, you tried to hold conversations with his friends, but it was hard to think with his hands on your body.
When the group finally decided to hit the dance floor, you fled to Jamie’s side in hopes of diminishing the feeling in your stomach that maybe you and Tyler weren’t quite ready to put the events of last summer behind you.
--
Tyler’s house was quiet when you finally arrived home. All the women of the house had gone to sleep hours before your arrival, but Tyler wasn’t quite ready for the night to end. As soon as you stepped through the door, he made a beeline for the kitchen.
“I’m making food!”
You kicked your heels off at the door and followed him while Jamie ran to the bathroom.
“Do you want mozzarella sticks?”
“Absolutely.”
You watched him throw the sticks into the oven from your spot on the countertop, the same place you sat that morning while he made breakfast. He set the timer and clicked the light on inside so he could watch them and then he backed up to lean against the counter beside you.
“Tell me something.”
“Okay, I’ll tell you something,” you said. He raised his eyebrows, turning to face you and wedge himself between your knees. He dropped his hands to your thighs, squeezing lightly to get you to continue. “We didn’t get tattoos tonight.”
“Holy shit,” he spoke. “You’re right.”
“There goes that tradition.”
“I mean, what would you even get? It’s not like we had anything in mind.”
You leaned back on the counter, palms pressed against the cool marble, and thought.
“I have a few ideas.”
“Go for it,” he urged.
“First idea is that we could get the Bruins logo on our asses,” you began. He choked on his laughter. “Now, hear me out,” you continued. He nodded. “Your teammate’s might hate it, but you owe that organization a lot for all the great things they brought you. Me, for example.”
“Okay, what other options do you have?”
“We can get the dogs tattooed somewhere on us.”
“That’s actually not a horrible idea,” he began. “But I wanna get a third, so I’m gonna have to wait on that.”
“Okay, fine,” you sighed. He watched you as you thought up another ridiculous answer, smiling softly to himself as the gears in your brain turned. “You know what we can get?”
“Please, tell me. I’m dying to know.”
“Just Brad Marchand’s signature,” you said. “We can get it right across our tits. It’ll be like reliving your Cup golden days. Just titty signatures all around.”
His laughter echoed off the walls in the kitchen and your face hurt from how hard you were grinning at him. Tears pricked the corner of his eyes as he tried to calm himself. You weren’t sure when was the last time you’d gotten this type of reaction from him, but you were mentally patting yourself on the back for having done it right then.
He stepped away from you and dropped his voice to a whisper, “God, I could kiss you right now.”
The room fell silent.
He said that out loud. He meant to say it in his head, but he said it out loud. He didn’t mean it, well, he sort of meant it, but he knew he shouldn’t have said it. It wasn’t supposed to fall from his lips so easily. His eyes snapped up to you and he noticed that you were frozen in place, food halfway to your mouth.
“You can’t.”
“Yeah, I know,” he said, turning away swiftly to clean up the kitchen counter. “I didn’t mean it like that, you know? I just--” he turned to face you again. “I want to be good for Maisy. I do, really, but my feelings for you aren’t just going to disappear. I’m trying, though, I promise.”
You wish it didn’t hurt when he said that. You were supposed to be happy that he was trying to get past this, but instead you feel your heart shatter in your chest.
“Mozzarella sticks, nice!”
Jamie’s exclamation ended the conversation, and you shoved another mozzarella stick down your throat hoping that maybe food was the solution to all your worries.
--
The next morning, as Tyler lifted your final bag into the trunk, your phone began to ring.
“I’m just going to take this quickly,” you told the boys as you turned back into the house for the privacy of the guest room. After accepting the call, you lifted the phone to your ear and greeted the caller on the other end.
“Ms. YLN?”
“Speaking.”
“Hi, it’s Dave Jeffries from Red Door Publishing,” the man spoke. “I’ve been tasked with compiling a team to join me at our Dallas office and I wanted to offer you a position if you’re interested. It’ll come with a bit of a promotion, as well as a package to help you get settled in.”
“Oh, wow,” you breathed out. Your eyes lifted to the window that led out to the front yard. Tyler was leaning against the car door with the dogs at his feet. He was giggling at something Jamie said, and then he looked up and met your eyes through the window. They crinkled at the sight of you. “I’m interested in the position, but I’d appreciate the opportunity to think about my decision until Monday morning.”
“You can do that,” he answered. “For what it’s worth, I think you’d fit in great over here.”
You almost felt compelled to laugh. The irony of the situation wasn’t lost on you.
“You know what?” you asked him lightheartedly. He hummed. “I do too.”

taakitz fake dating+bodyguard+proposal :))))
“I don’t want a bodyguard! I want to go places on my own! I want to have some fucking freedom again! What’s the point of being rich if I can’t be in charge of myself??” Taako’s horrible mood seems to radiate off of him, threatening to kill the houseplants.
“You know that just isn’t possible,” Lucretia sighs. “I’ve been your manager and done your PR for a long time now, Taako, and we both know-”
“Augh!” Taako pops a piece of gum in his mouth and chews angrily, loudly snapping it like he’s imagining sinking his teeth into any stray fingers that might dare approach him. “Don’t tell me that ‘we both know’ speech again! I’ve heard it! I get it! I may be dumb, but I’m not stupid.”
“Taako, you aren’t-”
Taako very nearly growls at her. Kravitz clears his throat.
“Ah, yes,” Lucretia says, almost another sigh. “You know Kravitz. He’s got an excellent resume, he’s been your bodyguard before. How about today, you two go solo? Rather than a whole team?”
It’s a compromise. Taako hates compromises. But he wants out of the fucking house, so he complies.
“Sure. Fine. Whatever. But you have to keep up with me.” He glares at Kravitz, in his nice black suit, with his rippling muscles and nonplussed expression and high cheekbones and gold in his hair, which is just gorgeous. He’d be sexy even if he couldn’t bench press three Taakos. Taako pops his gum again, thinking. “And I’ve got a plan.”
“Oh dear,” Lucretia says.
“Whatever it takes,” Kravitz says, looking and sounding very professional. Taako’s going to fix that. If he can’t have some alone time, he’s going to cause mischief until they wish he was alone. He spits his gum into the nearest plant.
“Let’s go. I’m driving.”
“You are not-” Lucretia’s voice gets a little more tense. “You don’t have a valid license!”
“I’ll drive you,” Kravitz says, still cool as a cucumber popsicle. Taako rolls his eyes.
At least Kravitz drives fast.
“So here’s my plan,” Taako says, gesturing dramatically.
“I’m listening.” Kravitz passes another car that seems like it’s standing still. Excellent.
“You’re not my bodyguard today. You’re gonna be my boyfriend.”
“I’m sorry?”
“Keep up, big guy. You’re going to be my boyfriend. We’re dating. Hot new goss. Delicious and fresh. Everybody will want to know the tasty celebrity deets.” He smacks his fist into his palm, getting excited. And then the paparazzi will swarm, and Taako will be able to slip out of the crowd and run off. It’s perfect.
“I take it you’re going to insist on this.”
“I sure am.”
“Then, I suppose we’re boyfriends,” Kravitz intones, deadpan. “Yay.”
Taako snickers.
It’s harder to lose Kravitz than he thought. The dating made for a lot of attention, but it also gave Kravitz an excuse to literally hold him by the arm when the cameras got close. So what if Taako’s heart beat faster when Kravitz slipped them out of the hot zone, running three blocks half-carrying him in the process? So what if they share a hot dog and an indirect kiss? The suit is a little conspicuous, so Taako makes Kravitz wear a shiny purple shawl he finds in a second hand shop. Taako shouldn’t even be going into second hand shops. That makes it great. The look on Kravitz’s face? Greater.
He tries to slip away again after lunch, but the mustard incident barely phases Kravitz, and neither does the old bathroom trick. Kravitz is stuck to him like glue.
“Taako! Who’s your new boyfriend??” People with expensive cameras call. And, okay, maybe it’s fun to bask in it. It’s been a while since he had someone on his arm, and that last someone wasn’t half as fine as Kravitz. It’s almost...nice. He thinks less about slipping away and more about wiping that blank look off Kravitz’s face. And he knows just what will do the trick, too.
Sorry, Lucy. Here comes a PR disaster.
They slip into a jewelry shop, and Taako buys several things, quite sneaky like, while Kravitz, bored, admires the security cameras. Taako suggests they go for ice cream as they step out into the sunshine, and within minutes, they’re swarmed by paps again. Perfect.
“Hey Krav,” Taako says, sweet as butter.
“Hm?” Kravitz looks at him. Taako splits into a dangerous grin, and then he gets down on one knee.
Kravitz blinks.
“What are you doing?”
“Tying my shoe,” Taako quips, sliding around in his designer flip-flops. “What does it look like?”
Kravitz squints at him.
“Everybody, gather round!”
“Taako, no.”
“Kravitz,” Taako grins so hard his teeth are going to fall out, and he’s going to step on one, and it’s going to hurt, but God, will it be worth it. “I love you so much.”
Kravitz’s jaw drops. His eyes are full of confusion, embarrassment, intrigue. They almost sparkle.
“You make every day of my life so happy.” Taako pulls out the little ring box. Kravitz covers his mouth. “Will you make my day, and every day after that? Be with me forever.”
“I,” Kravitz stumbles. He looks around at the paparazzi, who are very much swarming. “Don’t know what to say.” His voice is a weird kind of tense, and Taako pushes it as far as it will go.
“Say yes, baby. Be mine.” And he tilts his head and gives Kravitz the smoulder that got him into a dozen blockbuster films. Several passsersby swoon.
Kravitz is making a funny noise. Taako frowns a little, thinking he’s choking at first, but Krav’s hand can’t cover it-- he’s laughing. And he’s laughing hard. The more he tries to stop, the worse it gets, and he doubles over, coughing, spluttering, giggling, wheezing. It’s a beautiful show, but Taako’s embarrassed.
“Well?” he demands. He’s invested now, even if it is fake. Kravitz gets the hint and tries to stop laughing, but his smile is warbly and barely keeping the snickers in. He bends down and pulls Taako up and kisses him, for real, on the mouth and everything, and Taako forgets the ruse for a minute and really kisses back, swooning just like the gawking commonfolk.
“Of course I will,” Kravitz says nice and loud, and then he leans in and whispers in Taako’s ear, “How are you going to slip out of this one, hm?”
Taako flushes brightly. So maybe Kravitz was a more challenging opponent than he thought. Two can play at this tango.
“He said yes!” Taako declares, and the crowd cheers. In an instant, Taako’s phone is buzzing so hard he could fry an egg on it.
“She found out,” he says out of the side of his mouth.
“She always does.” Kravitz smiles-- really, despite the rest of it, he’s so glad he got to see that gorgeous smile--and he kisses Taako again, once for the tabloids and once more to let him know he’s really fucked it up this time.

[ARTICLE] BLACKPINK Talk 'The Album': "The Spotlight Shed On K-Pop Is Just The Beginning"
credit: TANU I. RAJ - The GRAMMYS Website
At some point during the conversation, the topic of the pressure of being BLACKPINK comes up. There’s a short silence on the other end of the call. Starkly different from the effervescent laughs until then, it’s pregnant with introspection as the four members of BLACKPINK—Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo and Rosé—think about the title that’s most often associated with their name: "The Biggest Girl Group In The World."
It isn't hyperbole, either. A look at the numbers is enough to prove that. Within 24 hours of its release earlier in June, the first pre-release single from The Album, "How You Like That," broke five Guinness World Records. With 86.3 million views in that time, it became the most viewed YouTube video and the most viewed music video in the world. "How You Like That" also debuted at No. 33 on the Billboard Hot 100, tying with Lady Gaga’s "Sour Candy"—a song the group featured on—making BLACKPINK the highest-ranking female Korean act at the time.
Earlier in 2019, the quartet became the first K-pop group to hit 1 billion views on Youtube with their single "Kill This Love." They followed it up with a sizzling performance of the single at Coachella, making history again as the first K-pop girl group to do so.
Along with the weight of the epithet, thus, the title encompasses a vast journey that the quartet has covered in just a fraction of the time it takes established acts—four years to be precise. So, excuse the members of BLACKPINK for taking a couple seconds to reflect, please.
"It's very surprising to us," Jennie says at last. "Every day we try to acknowledge how grateful we are, but more than the pressure, we are ready to give them back as much as they [their fans, BLINKs] gave us. It just gives us more motivation to go further than we ever dreamed of."
If you’ve been acquainted with the BLACKPINK ethos, you will have seen this coming. For the better part of four years, the members of BLACKPINK have stood tall on the backs of the self-assured, self-aware messages in their music. Whatever the challenge, the BLACKPINK way is to always go up. Now, as they get ready to reacquaint themselves with the world with their first full-length release, The Album, the same determination abounds.
"We tried to put more colors into our music, say black and pink," says Lisa. "I wish each member has a stronger presence on the stage and explores more various genres. I hope people don’t know what to expect from us, except for something better than before. We want to be unpredictable."
Ahead of the release of The Album, GRAMMY.com sat down with BLACKPINK to discuss their career, achievements, motivations and future.
BLACKPINK's Rapid Rise | For The Record
This is going to be your first full-length album after your debut, so the hype is very real. What was the mood when you heard it was happening?
Rosé: At the very start, when they said that we were going to [be releasing] our first album, we were very stoked, because we do know that our fans have been waiting for this moment for a very, very long time. We were very excited but also nervous at the same time because we do know that it is a big deal. It's the first time we were able to put all of our colors into something. We had mixed feelings, but overall it was very positive vibes, and we were very stoked to be able to finally release the full album.
The Album is coming after almost four years of your debut, which is a long time. Why do you think that this is the right moment for it?
Rosé: We had four years to kind of build our own colors as BLACKPINK. Throughout the four years, we got to explore different genres and really find out our exact, distinct colors. So, I feel like [in] this album, we were able to put our prepared music style and contribute with new music genres that we're still exploring recently. [That's why] I think now is the best time to come out, because any later would be too late and any earlier, we might have been in a rush. We definitely feel like, right now, we are fully ready to put out a full completed album.
How do you think this album represents the kind of artists you are? How does it represent your colors?
Jennie: I think we've said this before, but our new album is full of surprises. We like to believe that it's something no one has tried before. We just want to bring something new. The album is cool, you know, and we tried to put together all the colors of BLACKPINK that we've built before into one.
You started this year with some amazing collaborations. What do you look for while working with other artists? Where is that middle ground between your style and their style?
Jennie: Since there are already four of us, we're very adjusted to working with people, so somebody new is always welcome. They bring a new perspective to the group, and it's an amazing experience. It's like stepping outside of our usual boundaries and into a world that we haven’t been to. To create something new with a great artist, like Lady Gaga and Dua [Lipa] and much more to come, it's just a great chance for us as artists and groups.
How was working on The Album different to working on your previous EPs? The Album is more cohesive, it's longer; there are more songs, more opportunities. What was that like?
Rosé: Definitely, because it's not like separate projects that we were working on. In the past, when we were working on individual projects, it was mainly all about that "one" song or that "one" concept that we were coming out with. But, because this was an album, we really had to think about the flow and the meaning behind this. I feel like this time around, we do have personal songs in there, something that tells our story, something that is fun.
And since our name is BLACKPINK, we represent the diversity in our personalities as individuals and as artists. So, we feel like we really had to put that forward and address that as well as we could.
You told me how the album went from concept to final form and how you showed your colors; are there any parts of the production process that you paid special attention to?
Rosé: I feel like we stayed in the studio for a while. We didn't want to just have a bunch of tracks and songs written for us and for us just go and record. We did spend a lot of time in the studio trying to find what we really wanted to sing about, what kind of music we wanted to put out. It took us a while to get together a list of good songs so we could get into recording mode. That's the really big process: just hanging out in the studio and making sure we have fun there so we can be honest.
Let's talk a little bit about your recent achievements. You've broken records that at one point a lot of people thought were unachievable, especially for Asian artists. You performed at Coachella, you’re the most followed K-pop act on YouTube, "How You Like That" broke so many records right after its release. In context of all that, the pressure of being BLACKPINK must be so intense.
Jennie: It's very surprising to us. All the records are the results of our fans, BLINKs, and their unconditional support. Every day we try to acknowledge how grateful we are, but more than the pressure, we are ready to give them back as much as they gave us. It just gives us more motivation to go further than we ever dreamed of.
There's always a line between the persona and the person, so how do you make sure that the expectations people have of you are realistic, that what is going on in your professional life is either a reflection of who you are or a separation from it?
Jisoo: We are grateful, as artists, as individuals, that people have such big expectations of us, and we are ready to take on the burden that comes with the expectations. We chose to do this: we try to send that message in our music, to show our confidence and the boldness to take on the challenge.
I feel like you’ve gone beyond the concept of a traditional girl group now. BLACKPINK is not just a name, it’s sort of become a force of nature where everybody knows who you are. With a position like that, there's always a danger of thinking: "I'm fine here. I'm good. This is comfortable." The position limits growth. How do you guys ensure that you always keep on reinventing?
Rosé: While we are very grateful for the amount of things that we have achieved and everything that follows this, we are just four girls who always really loved music and we just enjoyed performing. So [staying] creative is not too hard, because once we do one thing, we are always looking at the next thing, always dreaming of things that we have always wanted to do. But we definitely don't settle with what we have right now. We're all very greedy when it comes to. [Laughs.]
Jennie: We have each other to look and be inspired by. We let each other know what we're doing and where to head.
Lisa: We're like the same person.
Rosé: I think all of our members try to remind each other of how we're all just human. The hype, we try not to let it get to us. We don't really go: "Oh my god, we broke these many records or da di da..." We just look at each other and like…
Jisoo: We're just happy with how far we've come.
How do you think you've grown since your trainee days?
Rosé: We definitely have become a little more professional when it comes to this job, I guess? When we were trainees, we were only training for the music. This job is actually a job.
Jennie: There is much more stuff to care about than just music, but to carry ourselves as somebody to influence or [somebody to] look up to.
Lisa: We just enjoy every little step of it, and when we're off camera, we're pretty much like, still four girls.
Rosé: Teenage girls. [Laughs.]
Tell me how you're going to relax after the album comes out. Will there be a party, or a girls' night in?
Rosé: The crazy thing is right after our album releases, we're going to be promoting it and trying to get as much content out there for our fans. Definitely there will be a celebration at some point, but I still think we will be at working mode.
Jennie: But an excited working mode, since our fans have the album in their hand.
Lisa: [From the back] We're workaholics!
Rosé: And our biggest celebration is kind of like, staying at home in bed. Sleeping all day, so that's going to happen, hopefully.
A lot of your plans for promotion might have been thrown off course with COVID. How does this synergy with fans affect your performance? What are you expecting this time around?
Jisoo: Even though the opportunity for us to meet our fans in person has decreased, we're very grateful for social media at this point. I actually feel like since we do have social media we have more of a platform to connect with our fans on a bigger scale, so we're grateful for that at this point in time. We just hope to reach out to our fans and give them more hope through our music and content.
You guys are in a position where you are some of the people spearheading the modern K-pop expansion. Since your debut, we have seen K-pop grow so much. What kind of responsibility do you think you personally have towards its global expansion?
Rosé: It's amazing that K-pop is spreading around the world as a culture in itself. There are a lot of other K-pop artists out there who are trying to put out their music right now, and we are really grateful that we get to step in and be a part of that.
Jennie: Since we get such amazing opportunities and records because of the people that are interested in watching K-pop right now, we'd like to take the responsibility. We are fully committed to the work. We want to be proud when we look back on our history when we grow old.
[Rosé laughs.]
Jennie: We want to be proud of ourselves. I don't want to let ourselves down, so we put extra time, extra effort into every single thing we put out. I think that's why it takes a bit of time for us, but we really want to perfect the quality of the stuff we put out, so we can be represented to the world as a K-pop group.
Rosé: It's amazing how things are going. It's a big responsibility but a good responsibility that we have.

Do you have any modern Zukka headcannons? Thanks for your hot awesome takes all the time
i’ve gone over some of these points before, so some of y’all may recognize the continuity of the atlahsaucu (atla highschool au cinematic universe). this is a long one, and it’s *gasps* chronological…
they first meet in junior year art class. sokka resents how well zuko can draw and paint seemingly without any effort whatsoever, meanwhile sokka tries really hard and all his art comes out like disgusting little blobs on the canvas. zuko resents sokka for being cool and hot. how dare he.
one day, they get a bit carried away, and sokka and suki start making out in the middle of the hallway. zuko, whose locker they are directly on top of and who has class at this very moment, is not amused, and he, politely as he can, coughs and request that they move out of the way. sokka merely holds up a finger as to say “one moment please” which enrages zuko (justly, tbh) and he yells, “what the fuck?!”
sokka’s like “man what’s your fucking problem why are you such an asshole and so good at art” and zuko’s just like “????” and “what in gods name are you talking about????” and the yelling causes a scene which lands them in detention. sokka has never gotten detention before (though he has gotten several warnings in the past, but it’s kinda hard to be mad at the guy whose girlfriend just died for being distracted in class) and he’s freaking out that this is gonna go on his record and he’ll never get into stanford or mit or princeton or– meanwhile zuko is just asleep at his desk.
once zuko wakes up, sokka, bored out of his mind, jokingly proposes that they sneak out through the vents and make a break for it, but zuko, either not understanding that sokka is joking or not caring that sokka is joking (it’s unclear which) is like “yeah we’d just have to be quiet.” sokka, who has now decided that zuko is batshit crazy, but has also decided that he is living on the wild side, a real bad boy rebel who’ll never make ivy league because he got detention that one time, is like “yeah okay” just because he spent a lot of time entertaining this hypothetical and now he’s deathly curious to see if it’ll work.
amazingly enough, it does. adrenaline carries them outside the building and into freedom as they run as far as their legs will carry them until sokka stops to panic that he is now a certified delinquent, and delinquents don’t get scholarships, and if he doesn’t go to a good school then he’ll never get a good job, and if he doesn’t get a good job then how is he gonna support gran gran?????? and zuko’s just like “wait, hold up.”
zuko admits that he fully thought sokka was some type of meathead jock who makes out with his girlfriend in the hallways and thinks he’s too cool for school and sokka’s like “she’s not my girlfriend and also what.” zuko is confused as to why he would make out with someone in the hallway if she wasn’t even his girlfriend. he also realizes that he doesn’t actually know his name. so sokka explains that yeah they’re in love and spend every waking moment together but no she’s not his girlfriend; he doesn’t do relationships and neither does she. and also he introduces himself.
and it takes zuko a moment because he’s really bad with names and faces and putting faces to names and, people, in general, but then he’s like “oh my god you’re that sokka.” and sokka’s just like “yeah i’m pretty sure my name’s not that common???” but zuko is just like “i think my sister is planning to murder you someday.” and sokka just slaps his forehead. of course art class asshole is related to debate class asshole.
only zuko’s not really an asshole he’s kinda just a weirdo. a quiet little freak who paints good. sokka can vibe with that. especially after zuko assures him that none of this will go on any sort of record whatsoever because bumi is old, and batshit, and senile, and clearly doesn’t give a fuck. sokka laughs, and this leads into them talking shit about everyone they both hate, which they realize are all the same people, somehow. seeing their own petty bitterness mirrored back at them, they realize that they’re kind of both snobs, but in a fun way.
they walk through town until it gets dark out, and then they go their separate ways. but next monday they sit together in art class, and their teacher yells at them to stop whispering. sokka is just drawing little triangles across the page because he’s just come from trig and he’s very sleepy and doesn’t really feel like feeling inadequate right now. but zuko’s like, “what are you drawing?” and sokka looks at the page of triangles he was unconsciously doodling and scoffs and says in an affect, “can’t you tell? it’s a cubist take on degas.” and this is the funniest shit to zuko. but of course he then gets yelled at for laughing.
they’re friends after that; they just are. sokka invites zuko to lunch with his friends, at which point zuko meets toph and suki, who are, of course, the fucking coolest.
azula sees zuko talk to sokka or suki occasionally in the halls and demands to know what it is they’re talking about. zuko’s like “i dont….. remember?” but azula is certain that they are only friends with him as a means of getting to her, because they desire to crush her. zuko’s like “i don’t even think they know your name.” indeed, they do not. but sokka does stop calling her “debate asshole” in favor of “zuko’s sister,” so that’s something.
the first time zuko goes to sokka’s house, it is because sokka insists on showing him both back to the future movies. (there is no third one it does not exist.) for reasons unknown to him, zuko is terrified. he wears his favorite sweater that day. it is near-identical to all his other sweaters. he doesn’t understand the first one at all. the second one he remarks “oh that was kind of like hamlet.” that makes sokka really happy. at some point zuko goes to get a glass of water and sokka yells from the couch to bring him back a popsicle from the freezer while he’s at it. zuko complies, but he takes it just before katara goes to get one. he nonchalantly tells her that it was the last one, and she makes a very big show of throwing the box out. she fumes all night that sokka let that rude little bitch into her house. sokka pays her no mind.
mai and zuko are still together at this point, and because mai is dropping hints big enough to pierce through even zuko’s thick skull that she’s feeling left behind in favor of zuko’s new friends, he asks them if it’s cool that she join them for stuff. they’re all like “yeah of course” and mai pretends not to care. they all like mai, especially toph, but all agree that her relationship with zuko is super weird. toph and mai become super tight, and it’s clear as day to toph that mai is in love with ty lee, even if mai is not fully aware of this fact herself. suki, who has been secretly hooking up with ty lee this whole time (don’t worry, sokka knows, and he high-fives her whenever she brags about it), is just like “oh noooooo……” toph insists to mai that she dump zuko, and without mentioning ty lee once, is able to convince her of it just by reminding her that zuko is a super inattentive boyfriend and she deserves better. she does. zuko feels sort of…relieved? he doesn’t know why. he loves mai. he really does. but it’s also like a weight has been taken off his shoulders.
zuko doesn’t really know what to do about the fact that his sister is serial-killer level obsessed with sokka, other than try to ignore it. azula is always attempting to pry information out of him because they seem to be, at the very least, casual acquaintances so he must have some leverage by now, right??? she is never allowed to know that he knows where sokka lives, because he is afraid that one night sokka will simply find her hiding in the bushes with binoculars searching for any sign of academic struggle. sokka is blissfully unaware to most of these shenanigans. to him, she is like a buzzing fly occasionally hovering around his face.
that summer, they divide their time between working on college applications and going to the park together to just sit and read. it’s literally the most fun zuko can ever remember having.
english was always sokka’s worst subject because he is terrible at organizing his thoughts coherently and always ends up going on little tangents about the origins of butter churning or digital watches in a paper that was supposed to be about sense & sensibility, but his teachers are usually charmed enough by him that they see his essays as a fun challenge instead of a giant red X. but pakku loathes sokka. and he loathes his sister, whom he had taught the previous year. sokka complains to katara about it, and she just goes on a rant about how horrible and boring and bitter and raggedy he is. but sokka, who, unlike katara, desperately wants to be liked by everyone, feels the need to prove himself.
he goes to the best english student he knows. “hey, you’re really good at english, right?” he asks zuko, to which zuko responds, “i should hope so. it is my first language.” it is unclear whether or not zuko is being facetious or just very perplexed, but sokka laughs anyway. he pleads for zuko to “tutor him” and zuko’s like “but you have all A’s?” he agrees anyway, of course. zuko spends a lot of time on jstor, so he know how to write good. he helps sokka outline his essays in a way that works for him, but mostly it’s just an excuse for them to hang out and eat snacks. at this point, katara likes him and does not mind the fact that he is in her house, eating her food. she walks past the kitchen to be like “what u guys up to? oh, nerd shit?”
sokka and mai accept to the same college, and zuko isn’t sure why he feels so weird about that. they’re gonna be in completely parts of the country, only sokka and mai will see each other all the time, especially because they’re bound to be in some of the same classes together, knowing them, and that’s just weird. like, yeah, they’re friends, and yes, he might be semi-aware of the fact that they hang out without him, like, all the time, but this is different. this is weird. zuko asks mai if she thinks it’s weird and she just raises one eyebrow and goes, “no???” and zuko’s like “oh..okay..”
they don’t see each other all that much in those four years, but they’re always taking pictures of ridiculous passages from the books they’re currently reading and sending them to each other, because they just can’t kick the habit. they both learn a lot in college. sokka takes as many classes as humanly possible. zuko changes his major a lot. toph doesn’t go to school there, but she moves in with sokka once she graduates. zuko learns a lot about himself.
once sokka graduates, he and toph decide to get an apartment in a different city. sokka asks zuko what his plans are once he graduates and zuko’s like “bruh, like i’ve ever planned for anything in my life” so when sokka’s like “wanna be our third roommate” it’s a no-brainer.
sokka picks zuko up from the train station, and zuko is just so overwhelmed by the casual thoughtfulness of the gesture that he instinctively just kisses him, in the middle of the station. zuko is mortified for a brief moment but then sokka is just like “cool.” (sokka later inwardly laments saying “cool.” who says that?? what, is he abed from community???)
sokka tells zuko “just fyi, i don’t do relationships” and zuko is like “yeah, i know, you say that literally every day” but then toph slaps him (”sorryyyyy that was an accident” “no it wasn’t!”) and tells him to get his shit together. so sokka goes to zuko and says, “this may sound insane, but i think i’m afraid that if i love someone, they’ll die” and zuko’s like “oh. i’m afraid of that too.” and that makes it somewhat easier.
ever since mai made them watch over the garden wall, they’ve really wanted frogs so that they could name them after the discarded jason funderburker names. they get their frog terrarium and it’s glorious.
zuko has always wanted a cat, but he knows how sokka feels about cats so he does not bring it up. but one day, as he’s walking down the street, he stumbles across a little black kitten in the cold, shivering, limping, and missing one ear. he drops whatever it is he’s doing at the moment to bundle it up in his scarf and take it to the nearest vet clinic. the kitten is so indebted to him that he physically does not have the willpower to let it go anywhere else but home with him.
it really doesn’t take much convincing at all for sokka to agree to keep jiji (yes, zuko is just incapable of not naming his pets after fictional characters) especially because toph threatens to kill herself if he doesn’t. sokka is just like “woah there calm down you guys. we can keep the cat.” and theyre like “yay sokka youre the best!!!” and he’s just like “oh my god did you think i was gonna make you get rid of this tiny kitten with only one ear.”
zuko has a face for telemarketing. he also does some freelance writing. toph gives sokka very sound legal advice in regards to how to patent all the weird yet supremely useful inventions he keeps stumbling onto. after all, after tim cook offered him $$$ in exchange for that microchip he designed, he sort of doesn’t need a steady job. toph is really good at bullshitting rich people so she makes way more money than she should with those creepy statues of hers. they recognize how unstable their sources of income are, but sokka is really good with finances, so it works out somehow. when katara comes to visit them she complains that sokka has joined the 1% and is hoarding his wealth like the capitalist swine he is. sokka’s just like “katara did you only come visit me because you need money?” and katara’s like “well i won’t lie, so – yes.”
sokka eventually convinces zuko to go to grad school. naturally, zuko thrives there. sometimes zuko will wake up at 3 am and sokka will very intently find him writing the word “nihil” in a notebook and sokka’s like “what’s up” and zuko’s like “NOTHING.” and then proceeds to be like “don’t you see??? there’s no declension!!! everything makes sense now!!!!!!!!!” and rambles on and on incoherently. sokka’s like “oh god i just realized this is how i sound to everyone all the time.”
sokka takes zuko to the worst plays he can find, and then they sit in a 24 hour diner while zuko rants about everything wrong with said play. sometimes he even takes notes. this becomes a weekly tradition.
zuko reads sokka’s shelved manuscript on the history of cartography and helps him whittle it down to only 400 pages. he’s not a very harsh editor, but he did cut the thing by 150%, so that’s a start.
zuko teaches sokka how to paint.

Jamil with a doting and loving little sister
why the fuck does this exist- i dont fucking know
Spoilers for Scary Halloween Event ahead!
“Karin!” A young girl with long, dark hair yelled. “Please don’t run!”
“Eh? But aren’t you excited to see your big brother, Aniq?” Karin shot back, her loose, white hair flitting through the air. “I can’t wait to see what Scarabia’s doing for Halloween this year~!”
“I am too, but...” Aniq forcefully pulled Karin back, leaving Aniq to pout. “I can’t have you ruining the Asim family name looking like that.”
“Eh? But I’m the 12th, it’s not that important.” Karin dragged out, dramatically walking back towards her right-hand (wo)man/best friend. Pouting, she reluctantly let Aniq tidy her appearance- carefully tying the whit turban back in place, tugging the aqua-blue sleeveless top so it covers her decently, making sure the matching colored parachute pants reach her bottoms and shining the golden jewel that rests on her sandals it’s Jasmine.
“There, much better.” Aniq gave her a once over, satisfied at the appearance. “Wait, let me do yours too!” Karin insisted, roughly cleaning Aniq’s image.
“Ah, don’t-” Aniq gave up, letting the girl do as she pleased- well, it’s not like anyone can see them, right? Just in case, Aniq gave the room they were in (Karin’s room) a onceover, glad that nothing was amiss.
In contrast to Karin, Aniq wore a very simple black cloak that draped gracefully over her shoulders and a collared, midi-length, grey dress that has buttons running its entire length. For a pop of color, orange, curly-toed shoes line her feet (it’s a witch)
“There~ you look better, see?” Karin grinned. “Now we can both look good!”
“Well, I guess... thanks.” Aniq replied, twirling around. “Well then, my lady, shall we go?” She teasingly asked, offering Karin an arm.
“But of course. We can’t have our brother’s anxiously wait for our arrival, can’t we?” Karin answered in kind, looping her arm in hers.
“They don’t even know we’re coming, how are they supposed to wait?” Aniq sighed. “I wonder if this is really ok...”
“It’s fine, chill. My dad already said ok, and I forced your parents to take you with me!” Karin casually replied, stepping out of the room. A glare from Aniq made her soften her voice.
"You and your abuse of power...” Aniq sighed. “If my parents knew I told you to...”
“Hihihi... ahh, just relax already! We’re going to have fun, and you are prohibited from being anxious, do you understand?! This is a command straight from the master herself, okay?!” Karin commanded, booping Aniq’s nose.
“Hai hai~” The two of them laughed good-naturedly, chatting light-heartedly about other things.
*
"Woah!” Karin exclaimed. “Is this what NRC looks like when it’s Halloween?! It looks so cool...!”
“I know right?!” Aniq noticed a man with what seems like bandages, but made into clothes on him. “Oh, there’s a guy sitting there- let’s ask him for the directions of the Scarabia dorms- oh wait, isn’t that the dorm leader of Octavinelle?”
“Hmm, maybe? I think I remember someone looking like that when we came here last year.” Karin hummed, walking placentally towards the guy. “Excuse me, do you know where the Scarabia venues are?”
"Oh, welcome and happy Halloween. Yes, they are located in the Mystery shop.” Azul explained. “Do you have anything else to add?”
“No, that’s all. Thank you, and happy Halloween!” Aniq replied, flashing him a quick thank you smile before leaving with Karin.
“Eh, you remember the way?”
“Duh~ I mean, do I not have good memory?” Aniq flexed lightly, grinning.
“Oh yeah, you helped me cheat on that test one time-”
“Ahhh shaddup don’t talk about that!”
“Eh- but you’re the that brought up the topic!” Karin argued back.
“No, you did! I didn’t say a word about tests!”
“Oh yeah.. ahaha...”
“Ah, what am I going to do with you?” Aniq sighed, shaking her head and smiling.
*
“There they are- oh...” Aniq’s spirit dissipated after seeing to long, long line that stood in front of the Mystery Shop. “H...how are we supposed to find big bro and Kalim-san now...?”
“Ahh, I don’t know...” Karin echoed, sighing sadly. “But I’m so lazy to wait in line...”
“I’ll wait for you, you go do something else.” Aniq suggested. “I think we passed a haunted house or something. You love those things, right?”
“Yup, thanks Aniq! Karin playfully teased, pressing her lips on Aniq’s cheek. “See ya!”
Aniq blushed deeply, but managed to wave her off. “Honestly, that girl...!” She grunted under her breath, a little bothered. “She’s way too affectionate...”
Aniq aligned herself in the queue, looking around. It certainly is more crowded then last year. I wonder why- oh, right, because of that picture of the ghosts and the cat. Ahh, I kind of want to see the cat... it looks so cute! She thought, smiling at the thought. And the cute girl too... I wonder why there’s a girl in NRC? Ah well, I can ask big bro, can’t I?
She grinned happily at the thought and accidentally overheard the chatter of a few people.
“Ahh, I wonder what angles I should take for the waffle?” Girl A pondered, asking her friend.
“I think from up high is good because the lighting is better. That way, the post will definitely get more likes.” Girl B answered, concluding Girl A’s response.
“Hey, are we going to actually eat the waffle? No, right? It’s so annoying to walk around holding this around...” Girl A sighed, hesitantly looking at the waffle store.
“But it says not to throw it here...eh, I’m sure its fine since everyone is doing it too!”
“Right, right!” The two continued chattering, but Aniq’s eyes went straight for the trash can.
She glanced at the pile of waffles and containers surrounding the trash can. Ahh, I don’t think big bro is going to enjoy that... She spotted several caterpillars and slugs on the trash can and sighed. Most definitely not.
Silently, quietly, she muttered a spell: Spread your wings, and turn the ugly to good.
After a few seconds, the pile of trash became a flight of butterflies, which quickly dissapeared and flitted into the air, along with the caterpillars and slugs.
“Woah, the trash just dissapeared! Is that the way they clean the trash?” Girl A gasped, shaking Girl B by the shoulders.
“So pretty! Let’s throw some more trash so we can see it again! Maybe if we put it on Magicam it’ll become viral!” Girl B added.
That’s not what I meant to do! “Don’t-” The word slipped out before Aniq could stop herself. The two strangers in front of her glared at her.
“Have you been eavesdropping on us? That’s rude.”
“Ah- I’m sorry, but I couldn’t help it when you said that you’d continue littering.” She countered calmly.
“Why not? It doesn’t hurt anyone, right?”
“Well, there is a sign clearly indicating that you shouldn’t throw trash, but if you ignore that, then yes, the actions you did obviously have no impact at all.” She chastised sarcastically, pointing towards the sign.
“Ahh, so annoying! Let’s just wait for the waffles another time. I’m tired of waiting in line anyway.” Girl A said, shooting a dirty glance at Aniq, which she subtly ignored.
“Yeah.. oh, let’s go to Savanaclaw! Maybe the rumor that...” The 2 customers walked away, letting Aniq take their place.
**
2 people away from my order... come on, hurry up! Aniq thought impatiently. Ah, shit, where’s Karin?
She hurriedly pulled out her phone and called. After precisely 3 rings, Karin’s cheery voice rang from the other side.
Hello?
Is everything okay on your end?
Ehh, are you worried~?
When am I never worried? Aniq deadpanned.
That’s true, yeah. I’m okay! I took a picture with THE Malleus Draconia, can you believe it?! I mean, there were these people who tried touching him, but I got a brain, so I didn’t do that.
Heh?! Really? Woah, they have some guts! Aniq replied in surprise.
“Next.” She stepped forward one step, noticing that the server had some wolf ears attached to them. Hmm, I don’t remember Scarabia students having animal ears... it’s probably for the costume.
Oh, and I found the cute girl in the picture you were talking about!
Eh, did you find the cat and the ghosts too?! Send me the pictures ya! Aniq reminded her.
Yup, will do~ Karin replied fleetingly. They were swarmed with people haha! I pitied them, so I just... watched as the throng of people overwhelmed them. The people were saying something about the Malleus Draconia challenge, or something.
Eh, really? What’s it about?
Like, they have to film them touching him. Isn’t that crazy?
Well, more like moronic but yeah, I guess. I heard a few people talk about Magicam here too. ‘Let’s upload the waffle pictures! It’ll definitely get a lot of likes!’ then they throw it away! So stupid, right? Karin snorted.
...Are there people in the area-
Oh shit-
Oh my god you dumbass- Aniq could hear her friend laugh. Well, order some waffles for me, okay? I’m headed over there right now.
Aight then, bye!
Bai bai~
Click.
“Next, please!” The Scarabia student called, prompting Aniq to eagerly step forward, happy to see her big brother-
“Oh, is that you, Aniq?” Kalim cheerfully asked, prompting Aniq to quickly bow.
“Ah, Kalim-sama!” Kalim laughed.
“Raise your head up, jeez! I told you over and over you don’t need to do that, ya know~” Kalim lectured playfully, resulting in a quiet giggle from Aniq.
“Yes, master!” She inclined, using her left hand as a salute. “Can I take a picture- after I order, of course!”
“Sure!” Kalim agreed. “So, what do you want?”
“2 NRC waffles, please.” Kalim cringed at the word. “You’re going to actually eat it, right~?”
“Of course! What’s the point of buying food you’re not going to eat?” She casually answered back.
“Don’t be so casual, Aniq.” Jamil’s voice floated through the booth. She grinned once she saw him.
“Big bro!” Jamil was quick to give her a head pat, which she radiated from. “Aha, sorry... it slips out sometimes.”
“Hmm.” Jamil replied. “Kalim, the residents of Scarabia are asking for your help. Can you handle it by yourself?”
Kalim nodded, putting a thumbs up. “Leave it to me!” He then left to help with whatever needed to be done.
Aniq eyed her big brother. “Oh, you’re donned in a costume too, big bro.”
“All vice-dorm leaders and leaders are required to wear the costumes.”
“Oh, did you make it, big bro?” Jamil shook his head.
“No, Vil did- Pomefiore dorm leader.”
“Ahhh, you mean the pretty guy in charge of the mirror of chambers?” Jamil nodded. “I saw it on one of the flyers plastered on the walls.”
"Ah, that makes sense. Ah, Aniq.”
“Mhmm?”
“Can you guess the theme of our dorm venue? I’ll add in a special treat if you guess it right.” Jamil teased, watching his sister’s eyes light up.
“Really?! Well, um...” Her eyes quickly darted to take in the surroundings. The ragged carpet draped across the trees and roofs, with lanterns hanging from the trees. “Well, it’s very LHS (Land of Hot Sands)… oh!” She gasped, clicking her fingers. “Is it recyclable material? The carpets are made out of rags, and the lanterns out of reusable plastic.”
Jamil hummed, genuinely pleased. “You’re right.” Aniq beamed at the praise. ““I assume you’re with Karin?” He questioned.
“Mhmm, but she’s in the haunted house, or wherever Malleus Draconia is in. ”Oh, by the way, bro, what’s with the trash piling in front of the station? Are people really just buying the waffles to take pictures on Magicam?” Aniq asked, watching his eyebrows furrow.
"Unfortunately.” Jamil sighed. handing her the cones. "We tried telling them off, but they wouldn’t listen. They also bugged with Kalim’s tail.” Jamil smiled smugly, giving her the scones back. “Oh, and thank you for the trash.”
“Ah, you saw, big bro?” She asked happily. Jamil shook his head. “You shouldn’t be using your UM so casually.”
“I know, I know, but it did help, right?” She grinned, but before she could continue, someone behind her whispered: “Oh my god she’s taking so long!”
“Oh, right!” Aniq quickly realized. “Um, chocolate for me and Mint choc-chip for Karin.”
“Of course.” Jamil got right to it, taking the wrappers from their containers.
“How’s everything going, big bro?” Jamil raised an eyebrow at the question. “You know what I mean, with Kalim-sama... and everything.” Aniq asked, staring straight at her brother, who sighed deeply.
"Don’t say that out in public.”
“But I’m worried! You’re doing okay, right?” Aniq frowned.
“It’s been... decent. He still treats me like a friend, no matter how many times I shrug him off. It’s annoying.” Jamil hissed, putting more force then usual when putting the waffles. “I’m just thankful nobody- except you- knows about this back home.”
“Ahaha... Kalim-sama is always like tha-” Her phone rang, interrupting her talk.
Hell-
ANIQ SOMETHING HAPPENED!
Jamil, well understanding the circumstances, quickly handed her the waffles, mouthing ‘For free.’ Aniq grinned in thanks and waved goodbye, walking away.
What happened?!
I found this cute guy, and- Aniq wanted to slap her.
Oh my god, I thought you were in ACTUAL trouble you dumbass!
Hehe- anyways I found this really cute guy and he’s got ears and- OH MY GOD HE’S COMING MY WAY- oh nevermind he’s walking away...

Series: You’re my home. | “Part II: Picnics on Thursdays.”
A/n: I don’t know about you but this quarantine has totally driving me crazy, I stared to home office this week and I’ve been sleeping very late. But last night, this came up. I think this is going to be longer than expected. We’re just at the very beginning of the love story. I hope you enoy it and feedback’s appreciated.
Warnings: parents’ issues. ER visit. Fluff?
Italics are memories.
Ps: YOU CAN STILL JOIN TO MY 5K FOLLOWERS WRITING CHALLENGE.
Part one (x)
Usually, his busy life had made him stay in his hometown for a couple of weeks, tops. Now, he’s been there almost a month, and he had done everything he usually does. He had visited his family, his friends. He still wondered if he had made the right decision of settling down and taking some time to plan his next professional step.
Somehow, the next short term step, had a pretty face, a hair bun with and a hammer on the hand. And no, it wasn’t Hemsworth on Thor. He had been thinking about her y/n a lot. Since the house was done he had no contact with her, and now he just felt like a fool trying to make junior high excuses to reach her.
Maybe to say “thanks”, but he had said it like a thousand times when she stood on the porch looking at her masterpiece.
“Oh, well. I guess, this is all done, our job here it’s done”
“Yeah, I love it, y/n. thanks”
“It was a beautiful house, just needed a little hand.”
“Yeah, thanks for your little hand” she nodded not sure what to say next.
“Well, I think I should go. Usually Lily and I go to picnics on Thursdays and its getting late”
“That sounds fun”
“It’s not a big deal, we just grab some snack or we cook something, we go to a park or we use the backyard.” Both of them nodded, speechless. “Hum, you should come sometime”
“Oh, I’d love to. Thanks”
“Yeah, I gotta go. Goodbye” she waved on her way to the truck and he waved back. Thanks, by the way.
After giving it a lot of thought, he decided to call her. But that was too formal. Would a text be better? Like, to keep it casual?
Fuck it, Evans.
He was tying when he got her text.
“Hey, Chris. Lily and I were wondering if you’d like to come over for our picnic.”
His hands were sweaty. He had shower twice, he had changed his clothes more times. Dodger only saw his journey to pick the outfit. In the end, he had decided for dark jeans, a light blue tank top and white sneakers.
“Come on, bubba” both of them left the dream house and then both of them got into his Jeep.
Chris had decided to pick up some ice cream and snacks. He drove around town and bought flowers. Then, he bought beers for the lady, tropical juice for the little lady.
Dodger happily followed him around on their way to the front door. Bags on both arms. He rang the bell and Lily showed up in a few seconds.
“Chris!” she smiled.
“Hey, princess. I heard you were making a picnic.” She hugged his legs and Dodger played around her.
“You have a puppy!” she knelt and Dodger licked her cheek.
“You like him, Lil” Y/n showed up. She looked different, she was wearing a summer dress, her hair looked different, it was braided and she had light make up that made her glow.
“Hey, Chris.” She smiled and leaned to kiss his cheek. “Come on in” he followed them to the kitchen.
“Hey, I brought… this” he handed the flowers to Lily. “Do you know these flowers are named Lily?”
“Like me?” her eyes lit up and hugged him again. “These are so pretty”
“Yeah, but you’re prettier”
“I hope you don’t mind I brought Dodger” Chris broke the silence. He was helping you out to prepare the rest of the snacks, you had already prepared some grapes, strawberries and watermelon slices. He was preparing croissants.
“Of course not. Lily has been asking for a pup for a while. I think you should watch out” she spoke.
“I don’t mind” you grabbed a grape and cleaned your hands with the cloth. When you decided inviting Chris, you didn’t expect him to be such… thoughtful. Actually, a part of you expected him to decline the invitation, but since Lily had asked for him every single day. You thought of the possibility of having him around.
“Are your parents around? Should I make them a croissant too?”
“No, they should be back soon, though” you crossed your arms and watched him preparing the meal. “Chris, I’m sorry for bring this up, but I just want to…” and before you could finish the sentence (or warning), you heard a scream.
Lily.
Both of you ran and found her on the grass. Tears falling down. You tried to keep calm, but he was the one that stood up.
“What happened?” he asked. Lily curled up on her right arm.
“I fell. Mommy, it hurts” he carefully picked her up and she hid on his neck.
“I need to take her to the ER, Chris. I’ll call you later?” you asked trying to fit her on your arms.
“I can’t leave you alone, you’re not in condition to drive, y/n” you sighed and nodded.
You were proud of being a cool mom. Of acting cold minded. But when you saw Lily laying on the grass, you froze. You were on the backseat of Chris’s jeep. Lily’s eyes were swollen, every now and then she dropped a tear. You tried to immobilize her arm. You caressed the top of her hair and kissed it. Chris looked at you through the rear-view mirror. You whispered a thank you.
Chris tried to keep it cool. But waiting on the next room was freaking him out. He hadn’t had his leg tic in a while. But now, he was about to drill the floor with his incessant leg. After a few minutes that felt like an hour y/n walked through the doors.
“She’s fine. She broke her elbow. She threw the ball and it ended up on the storage, she tried to climb the tree to get there.” Chris was standing in front of you, listening quietly to every single word. “I’ve told her not to climb, she’s just so stubborn and, oh, God” and out of the blues, you burst into tears.
Chris reaction was to pull you closer. He tugged you into his arms. He caressed your hair the same way you did with Lily before.
“This is my fault. I should’ve been watching her, I…”
“Hey, it’s not your fault, y/n. accidents happen and she’s fine, okay?” he framed your face. You probably looked ridiculous, you thought, crying on the waiting room while he was trying to keep you calm.
“She’s fine” you murmured. He used his thumbs to clean up your tears.
“She is” he nodded. His eyes met yours. Your teary eyes and your swollen lips directed all the attention. “You’re fine, too, y/n” he sweetly spoke, he grinned and you did too.
“We’re fine” he leaned. You froze again, what was he doing?
He kissed the top of your head and you sighed, but in relief or disappointed?
“Y/N Y/L/N?” the nurse called you, bursting the bubble.
“I have a pink cat” Lily spoke over the phone with your parents.
“Cast, love” you corrected her. She still had her swollen eyes and she sobbed every now and then.
“Cat.” You rolled your eyes “And Chris and mommy are taking me for an ice cream because I was very, very, very brave”
“Chris, huh?” your mom asked.
“Yeah, we gotta go, just watch out for Dodger, please? Hum, want something?”
“My dad told me you were here” you spoke. Chris was on the front porch, looking at the dawn. It was breathtaking.
“Yeah, I came to pick up a call and I was just looking at that.” You handed him a beer. He accepted it. You sat on the wood steps.
“I think you have a thing for the front porches” he sat next to you and nodded with a smile.
“You got me there” for a few minutes both of you were quiet, you had been on this situation before, a nice and unbelievably warm atmosphere covered you two.
“I wanted to thank you for what you did today.”
“You don’t have to…” you denied with your head.
“Before everything happened, we were talking and I was going to tell you that I don’t want you to feel forced to be with us, I get it you are from a very different environment and a little girl like Lily can be too much. Well you saw that today” you sighed. “Chris, I… really like you, but I’m a mother first” you played with the label of your beer. Unable to see him.
Chris wowed.
“Y/n… I admire you. I have never met a woman like you. You’re fascinating. You’re great at your job, you’re a great mom. I’ve seen both sides. I would never try to hurt you or be on your way of being you and everything that includes. I’m talking a lot but, my point it’s that I know that side of you and I’d like be part of your life. I know you’re trying to protect you and Lily, but…” he didn’t find the right words. Instead, he reached your hand.
“But?”
“I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but, I know you didn’t have a cast back then, you didn’t heal the way you were supposed to. I want to be that. I’m willing to be that. I really like to meet you, take you on a date, if that doesn’t work, I’m okay with being your friend.”
“Oh, my God! Chris, kiss my mommy!!!!” you heard a voice through the window. Lily.
“Lily! What did I tell you about sneaking?” you yelled.
“Let’s go” you heard your mom’s voice. Of course she wasn’t alone.
“Since you’re a know it all about me, I want to be a know it all about Chris Evans.”
“So, there’s only something I have left to say”
“What is it?”
“Would you like to be on a date with me?”
“I’d love to”

boy next door
Summary: Katara moves into the same apartment building as Sokka and Zuko happens to be her next door neighbour. Or, Zuko and Katara know each other better than they think they do.
A/N: For @zutaraexchange and @cobraonthecob who deserved this way earlier but I was so busy this week! My prompts were Painted Lady and Blue Spirit, Modern, Superhero AU, Element Swap/Different Elements. I decided to challenge myself with a modern AU.
I write and I do have a taglist so send an ask if ya want ;)
WARNINGS: MENTIONS OF DRUG ABUSE, VERY, VERY BRIEF. also, bro there’s like some swearing i think.
Wordcount: 5.1k Pairing: Zuko and Katara (Zutara)
Zuko mostly kept to himself. It wasn’t that he hated people — no, he was alright with Sokka in the apartment across the hall in 1C despite how loud he could be, and the guy who owned a grocery store upstairs in 2D wasn’t so bad. He mostly tended to the gardens and when the harvest was good, they’d hold a barbecue. Yue and Suki, two girls who lived diagonally across from him in 1A didn’t do much more than make polite conversation when they bumped into each other in the hallways and that guy Aang could hold his own in a game of Super Smash. He and some old guy, Bumi, lived upstairs in 2A along with Aang’s huge dog, Appa. In 2B was another set of girls, Mai and Ty Lee, both Zuko had known since childhood, but they were never close.
That left two more apartments. The one next to Zuko, and the one left upstairs.
No one talked about upstairs ever since the last tenant had been evicted for illegal activity, not that Zuko ever paid any mind to that, not that he cared, not that it was Azula who was forced to move out and away. Not that Zuko drove her to the hospital himself after he found her OD’ed on the floor. Not that anyone knew.
All anyone ever saw was his scar. He saw it in people’s eyes, the way they tried to focus on anything else on his face. His eyes, maybe. His mother used to say he had lovely eyes. But she was the only one. Everyone saw the scar.
So Zuko kept to himself, sue him.
He went out for his job, which was a fun time as the CEO of his dad’s company which  he managed to build back up after a scandal way back when, which meant he didn’t have spare time to go to barbecues, even if he wanted to. He knew they judged him, probably talked shit behind his back. But he couldn’t help it.
“Oh, crap.”
Zuko looked next to him as he was locking the door that morning. Fridays were the only days he got half-off and he intended to get as much work done as possible before relaxing. But, it appeared that wasn’t gonna happen today when he caught sight of one of the most beautiful women he’d ever seen in his thirty-years of being alive. Standing there, surrounded by boxes and a rambling Sokka, was a woman with chestnut hair pulled into a messy bun, frustrated, blushing cheeks, and narrowed blue eyes.
“Sokka, if you touch anything else, I’ll literally kill you.”
“Sorry, Kat! That time, it really was an accident.”
‘Kat’ didn’t say anymore. She picked up a box and stormed into the apartment, revealing a tumbled box at Sokka’s feet. The man looked up and noticed Zuko standing there, immediately traversing the boxy hallway and saying his hellos.
“Who’s she?” Zuko asked, trying to sound as disinterested as possible as he slipped the key into his pocket.
“My sister. She’s moving in for her neuro fellowship at the hospital nearby.”
“Oh, cool.” Smart. Check. Pretty. Check. Zukos’ boxes were all getting ticked off as the woman re-emerged, thoroughly disappointed but unsurprised by what her brother was doing.
“Isn’t that right, Katara?”
“What.”
“My little sister’s all grown up and moved across country all by herself.”
“Sokka!” Kat sighed in annoyance and Sokka quickly picked up a box with a wide smile, disappearing through the door as she finally noticed Zuko. “Hey, sorry about that.”
“No problem.” Their eyes met and she blinked once, then again. Zuko knew what she was looking at but her eyes stayed rather determinedly on his. Eyebrows elevating, he looked at all the boxes. “You need help moving in?”
“Oh, no, it’s fine.” She blinked again, and turned to look at the boxes. “Sokka’s supposed to be helping me and he’ll do fine once he focuses.” Stepping over the boxes, she extended a hand and offered a smile. “I’m Katara. I guess I’m your neighbour now.”
“Katara,” he repeated, knowing he’ll have no problem remembering it. “Zuko.”
“Nice to meet you, Zuko.” She was even prettier up close. Zuko swallowed hard, finding his mouth dry as he struggled to say more.
“Yeah, you too.” What a lame way to end the conversation. Katara smiled again and turned back to her boxes, and Zuko swore he didn’t look at her an extra second before he remembered he had work. Opening his mouth, he tried to say goodbye, but then shut it. She won’t notice, he thought as he turned and walked down the hall. She’d never notice someone like me.
.
Katara frowned, wondering if this was too much. Her first weekend at her new place had gone without a hitch and all the tenants had attended the BBQ the landlord hosted.
All except one.
She knew who he was — what reputation he had, and what he’d done to prevent his father’s company from going belly up. Still, she was determined to get him to notice her or at least be on amicable terms no matter how high up he held himself.
Katara had brought a specialty of hers — lychee ice cream — and stood outside her neighbour’s door. She knew he was at home due to the fact he’d slammed the door closed earlier that afternoon and that she could now hear him yell at Sokka.
Her brother had never mentioned the guy next door with the huge scar on his face. He was kinda good looking, in an unconventional kinda way. But Katara didn’t focus on that. Instead, she focused on his CEO status, how he lived in a second-rate apartment despite how loaded he must be, how she knocked on the door, and how she was gonna get through this.
So she knocked.
And the door opened.
Ask and you shall receive.
And what Katara received was a wonderfully puffy-haired neighbour, scratching his head and glaring at her though half his face was twisted in an eternal scowl. A far cry from the prim and proper, suited up man three days ago.
“Hi, Katara.’
“Hey, Zuko. I made lychee ice cream for you,” she said although words were running dry as Sokka popped out of nowhere and reached to grab it. “Not for you! It’s for Zuko.” Her brother pouted, complained about something, but Katara didn’t hear him. Zuko didn’t seem to hear him either.
The man looked at her for a moment, then took the carton with a soft ‘thanks’ and Katara found her cheeks warming under his stare. He was wearing nothing but a white tee and grey sweats but he still looked so good. Better than a suit and tie, that was for sure. His warm amber eyes scanned her up and down, and Katara noted the heavy eyebags and how pale he looked. That didn’t detract from how hot he was, though. Not that Katara really looked.
“You didn’t come to the barbecue,” Katara said, sidelining her concern for now, and Zuko nodded. “Why?”
“I don’t like crowds.”
“It wasn’t that crowded.”
“I don’t like people.”
“Oh.”
Color spread magnificently over Zuko’s cheeks as Katara looked to the ground. His voice rasped and scratched and sounded like music to her ears. Not that she noticed.
“I was at work,” he added. Katara noted he was a pitiful liar. Fridays were his half-off days, according to her brother. Not that she cared. “Along with the not-liking people.”
“You like Sokka, though,” she pointed out and Zuko suppressed a scowl as they heard Sokka yell there was no more orange juice. Forgetting herself, Katara withdrew from the doorway. “Anyway, I should head back. You’re probably busy doing… whatever it is you’re doing.”
“We’re playing Assassin’s Creed, if you want to join,” Zuko offered and Katara shook her head. Not that she’d basically grown up with those games. Not that she played with Sokka before he moved away.
Not that she wanted to.
“Which one?” She found the question slipping past her lips before she could reel it back in.
“Origins. Just got around to playing it.”
The offer was enticing, but Katara wasn’t in the mood. “I thought you didn’t like people,” she said, because inviting strangers didn’t sound anti-friendly.
“I can make an exception.” He crossed his arms and Katara ignored the way his muscles bunched and how his shirt seemed too small for his frame. It was tight across his shoulders and when Katara caught his gaze, she shook her head.
“You should go put that in the freezer before it melts ‘cause it’s hot out.” Katara nodded to the carton of ice cream and excused herself quickly after that, going down the hall as quick as she could and entering her apartment.
Slamming the door behind her, she pressed her back against it and sighed. That was a such stupid thing to say before she left, and she couldn’t take it back now. What happened to a good-old fashioned ‘goodbye’? A regular old ‘see you later’?
Apparently, no longer options for Katara when she spoke to Zuko.
.
“Dude, stop checking your phone.”
“Just hurry up. I want to actually play for once,” Zuko growled back as Sokka saved his game on the PS4. Zuko already had Witcher 3 with Sokka’s game savefiles in the right folder and the two had planned to switch thirty minutes ago before Sokka decided to screw around and get two more viewpoints than said thirty minutes ago.
BlueSpirit94: would you believe it if i said my best friend is a complete waste of time
PaintedLadyXO: yes
BlueSpirit94: this is why we keep in touch
The chat bubble popped up again and disappeared, causing Zuko to turn off the screen and yell at Sokka again to hurry up. Then, a ding.
PaintedLadyXO: please
PaintedLadyXO: you need me more than i need you
Smirking at the reply, he couldn’t resist typing out one of his own. Ever since meeting on Discord with their apparent mutual online friends nearly three years ago, Zuko had hit it off with this other gamer despite having never heard their voice. What with Painted Lady’s crazy hours doing whatever they did and Zuko’s extreme reluctance to gather up courage to even talk to anyone outside of his friends, they still remained on close terms.
And they were right, as they often were. Zuko probably did need them more than they needed him.
Bluespirit94: that’s rude
Bluespirit94: but true
PaintedLadyXO: i didn’t mean it
Bluespirit94: whatever
Bluespirit94: how was your move btw? Read 2:49 PM
“Alright, get off. Time to cut off some heads.” Sokka shoved Zuko off the chair and the messy-haired man sat down on the couch instead, waiting for the reply. His thumbs hovered over the keyboard.  “Who are you even talking to?”
“It’s none of your business!”
Sokka’s grabby fingers scrambled to grab his phone but Zuko threw it underneath his legs to sit on, grabbing the controller and glaring at Sokka.
“Fuck off,” he hissed. “Some dick at work is slacking ‘cause he’s probably too busy being high.” Zuko grimaced, and slid the analog stick until Assassin’s Creed Origins was selected. “Not my problem.”
“You’re the CEO.”
“Hey, I came back from work and I’m looking forward to this afternoon off. If he wants to keep his job, he’ll show up tomorrow.” Zuko watched the screen blankly. Everything he said wasn’t a total lie. That dude, Jet, had come in earlier, asking if he could take a medical leave while stinking of weed. Zuko had given him the foulest glare he could muster, declined his request, and left it with a threat of ‘See you tomorrow morning.’
Sokka didn’t say anything much after that. They’d known each other long enough that when Zuko needed his silence, Sokka knew better than to argue with it. Sometimes, he could cure it with jokes. It was more often than not that he couldn’t, so he slapped on Zuko’s expensive headphones and loaded up his save file.
Zuko’s phone pinged. Amber eyes darted from the screen to Sokka, who was beautifully immersed in Witcher 3, and he deemed it safe enough to check.
PaintedLadyXO: great! the tenants are friendly and the guy next door is kinda hot ;)
Zuko’s eyebrows rose. His thumbs paused.
BlueSpirit94: didn’t know you swung that way
PaintedLadyXO: and.
PaintedLadyXO: jk who said i was a man lmao
BlueSpirit94: i can now add that to things I know about you
There was no response for a few more minutes, so he decided that maybe they — she — decided to continue the move-in. Zuko shook it from his mind. So what if Painted Lady was a girl? They were always close friends. This didn’t change that.
PaintedLadyXO: and what do you know about me mister
BlueSpirit94: probably more than you'd like to admit Read 2:59 PM.
.
Katara’s first few months at the hospital went by with ease, especially since fellowships were a breeze compared to residency. With two more aneurysms clipped, a few more brainbleeds fixed, and one more neuroblastoma diagnosed than the night before, Katara reached her apartment as the sun began to set. She fiddled with her keys, almost too tired to see straight. Finally slotting the right one in, she twisted with an irritated huff and threw all her crap down on the couch. Despite having moved in three months ago, there were still a few boxes left to open. She plugged her phone to charge.
Heading to the bathroom, she began a shower and shed all her clothes from the day before. She needed this break before her pager would inevitably go off and she’d be back in the hospital.
Luckily, she managed to snag her shower and came out ten minutes later, feeling more awake than she had before as her phone pinged. Suki, the girl in 1A who’d been the subject of her brother’s affections and vice versa, was one of the first who welcomed her. They’d become quick friends at the barbecue and Katara wasn’t surprised to see texts from her. She was more often than not the one Katara turned to with her problems.
Suki: hey!!
Suki: was just wondering if you're interested in having dinner or anything
Suki: we NEED to catch up on gossip
Katara: yeah sure
Katara: technically off shift but you know how it goes
The response was instantaneous.
Suki: totally. i’ll be there in a bit w sushi
Satisfied that she had dinner plans, she turned to texting her other favourite. BlueSpirit94 had been silent for the past few days but Katara had a feeling it wouldn’t be long before their next conversation.
PaintedLadyXO: how come i never hear anything about your lovelife? Delivered
It was a bold thing to ask but Katara felt comfortable with texting anything to her faceless friend, considering that they’d been friends for well over three years now. It was funny. She barely went on Discord anymore (that was back in the day with Sokka) but she kept the app around on her phone, both of them too cowardly to move. This little bubble they lived in was comfortable. Katara didn’t want to pop it.
BlueSpirit94: because i don't have one
PaintedLadyXO: complete bs
BlueSpirit94: no really. hbu? hows the guy next door situation?
Katara thought on that.
How was the situation?
Well, it wasn’t like Zuko and her often had time to chat. She spent most of her time in the hospital, and on the off-chance she was here, he was either at work or out. She never wanted to bother him to talk, and it wasn’t like he was inclined to talk to her either. She hoped he liked her ice cream and got some sleep. The man looked one night away from passing out.
PaintedLadyXO: gone radio silent
PaintedLadyXO: our times don't match so i don't see him that much
BlueSpirt94: that sucks
BlueSpirit94: hey do you ever think it's crazy were literally in the same city now
PaintedLadyXO: on my mind all the time. we could literally pass each other and never know
Katara’s fingers paused. The next question on her mind was one she had never proposed before, but she had imagined a hundred different faces and a hundred different lives behind BlueSpirt94 that she couldn’t help it.
Knock, knock, knock.
Katara looked at the little arrow that meant send and then to the door.
She threw her phone onto the opposite end of the couch and went to the door.
Later that night, when Katara was in her own bed for the first time in five days, she looked at the unsent text. Exhaustion weighed at her eyelids and she sent it before she could feel the wave of regret waiting to drown her.
.
Zuko stared at the notification. For a Monday night turned Tuesday morning, he felt relatively good. It was nearing 1 AM and he was working on the newest wave on hopeful employees and interns after a day at work. But he was still getting a bit tired. Hiring season always meant overtime for him.
PaintedLadyXO: so why don’t we meet up?? it’s rly been three years
He stalled. The thought had his heart hammering in his throat as he picked up his phone. Could he say yes? Then again, she was the only one who he ever told about his sister. He trusted her with a lot, but she could just be some faceless troll.
Something about that notion struck him false. She’d never do that to him.
BlueSpirit94: uh ok i guess Delivered
A wave of nausea rolled over him. It wasn’t a gut feeling per se, or regret, but he suddenly felt like he was placed outside his comfort zone. He trusted Painted Lady, but to finally put a face to the name…
What a crazy idea.
For so long, she was what he came to from work as they talked and pieced together parts of each other’s lives. They were each other’s confidant, their safe of secrets. Where would they even go? What would they say?
Zuko shook his head. The text had rattled him so far as to say he couldn’t exactly focus on the resumés. So he picked up his phone again, and texted all that nervous energy out.
BlueSpirit94: how about coffee? Delivered
Just as the text sent, he heard a high-pitched beeping and a thump on the other side of his wall. Looking up, he debated getting up to check the sound out as the beeping stopped.
Next thing he knew, there was the sound of the next-door neighbour opening their door. Katara. He hadn’t seen her much since she moved in, so Zuko got up against his better judgement and crossed the living room floor, hand stalling on the knob. Squinting through one eye, he peeked through the hole and spotted a brown head of hair dash by his door.
Zuko blinked. He opened the door and saw her running around the corner in slip on shoes and her still trying to poke her arm through a hoodie. Words failed. Her hair was flying everywhere and it was like a whole different person from that composed woman three months ago. No doubt she’d return in a few days, as was her custom. He’d probably be still awake by then, so he made a game plan to finish through the rest of the resumés, finish his coffee, and get ready for work because the giant pile on his desk did not scream sleep.
He closed his door and returned to his desk. He took another sip of coffee.
He sat down.
PaintedLadyXO: that sounds good
BlueSpirit94: friday work for you?
PaintedLadyXO: depends on work but friday seems perfect
.
Katara was brimming with energy. Ever since making plans with BlueSpirit94 Tuesday morning, she had been full of some nervous squirming feeling in her stomach that added a bounce to her step. Thursday morning meant the end of her week and she walked the halls of the hospital, wanting to head to the cafe for lunch.
Instead, there was a beep of her pager.
Checking it, she clicked it to turn off that piercing noise and blinked. E.R. She was just there. Katara spun around, pulling her hair up into a ponytail as she walked into the pit, shrugging off her lab coat and heading to the nurse’s station where the screen behind it was constantly getting updated with the new intake of patients.
“I was paged?” she asked the nurse who helpfully pointed her in the direction of bed three. Nodding, she turned to it and picked up the chart, reading it over quickly. The symptoms — dehydration, overexhaustion, swollen ankle after collapsing down the stairs. Waiting for a CT to rule out any brain damage and internal damage. Cool. They just needed her to do a neural exam.
Pulling the curtain around, she slapped on a pair of gloves.
“Alright,” she announced with a smile. “Let’s look at that—”
“Hi, Katara.”
“Zuko?” Gawking, she raked her eyes up and down his body. He was in his suit, so he must’ve been at work, and his eyebags had gotten worse, if that was possible. There was blood dripping down the side of his head but he looked wide awake otherwise. Oh, man. Rolling up his pant sleeve, she saw that his sprained ankle was already treated and thanked god. All they were waiting for was her sign off.  “Hey! How’d this happen?”
“Was late for a meeting,” Zuko hissed as she flashed a lightbulb in his eyes. Pupils responsive. Good. “Took the stairs, didn’t make it. Everything got dizzy.”
“When’s the last time you slept?” she asked, rotating his head gently. “Any pain here?”
“Two nights ago, maybe? It was my one meeting for the day. I swear I was going to go home after.” Feeling around his head as he talked, Katara felt her fingers brush against something. “Ow!”
“Yeah, and you ended up in the hospital instead.” Katara arched an eyebrow at him, unimpressed and Zuko shrugged. “If you don’t like people, you must hate it here,” she continued, eager to keep the conversation going. “Hold still. You’ve got a minor cut here where you must’ve hit your head.”
“Place isn’t so bad with the present company,” Zuko mumbled. Heat immediately rushed to her cheeks and Katara kept her eyes on the suture needle as she tilted his head to the light. It wasn’t too deep, and she wiped away the excess blood, putting pressure on the wound.
“How do you feel? It says you fell down the stairs.”
“Just a bit battered,” he admitted and Katara’s lips pulled into a smile against her wishes. When blood stopped flowing freely, she began to stitch. “Any idea when I’ll get to go home?”
“As soon as your CT comes back clear. Are you sure you’ll be able to get back home by yourself?” she asked, frowning. “You can’t drive in your condition.”
“I can call a taxi,” Zuko said with a shrug and Katara paused.
“Don’t move, please.” And she dug the needle in again. “Don’t be silly. I was supposed to be off shift after lunch anyway. I can drive you back.”
“Wait, really?”
Katara’s eyebrows rose at his surprised tone. When she looked at him again, he had a pleased blush across his cheeks and a boyish smile upon his lips. He looked quite cute in that light. Finding one of her own smiles, Katara nodded and added butterfly strips to keep the cut closed.
“Of course. As soon as your CT comes back clear, I’ll get you discharged.”
“Thanks, Katara.”
“Yeah, ‘course.” She tore off her gloves, signing that she was the last one to check on him and patted his shoulder with a final ‘see you later’ grin. He was incredibly warm under his suit, and her hand burned at his touch.
She’d not taken two steps, when: “Katara?”
“Mhm?”
Zuko’s eyes lit up. “The ice cream was really good.”
.
PaintedLadyXO: u kno what's crazy??
BlueSpirit94: what
PaintedLadyXO: boy next door is where i'm working
BlueSpirit94: what? did you talk to him?
PaintedLadyXO: yep and he’s really nice
PaintedLadyXO: we still on for tmr? Starbucks on 49th, right?
BlueSpirit94: about that…
PaintedLadyXO: what?
BlueSpirit94: i might be in the hospital.
PaintedLadyXO: WHAT?
PaintedLadyXO: are you okay???
BlueSpirit94: i’m fine
BlueSpirit94: just minor injuries
PaintedLadyXO: are you sure???
BlueSpirit94: yeah
BlueSpirit94: sorry about tomorrow guess we’ll have to cancel
PaintedLadyXO: np!! Especially if you’re hurt
.
Holding up the CT to the light, Katara squinted in front of Zuko for extra effect. The man was getting a bit antsy with how long she was staring at the thing and Zuko didn’t know what else to say other than: “I’m fine, aren’t I?”
It was like a shift immediately. Katara put down the CT and painted on a smile. “Yep! Now I can sign off and we can go home!”
Home. Zuko tried to ignore the implications that they lived together and nodded, accepting her aid into the wheelchair.
Katara’s car was a nice minivan that was full of boxes that needed to be recycled, but Zuko didn’t mind that the busy woman next to him was still mid-move despite three months living in town. It smelt like warm chicken and food, and he spotted a salad with butter chicken in the front chair that Katara hastily shoved under the chair.
“It’s been a while since I’ve had someone other than me in this car,” Katara muttered, helping him into shotgun and buckling in.
“Thanks, Kat, but I’ve got it,” Zuko said with a gentle smile. The woman was so keen on making sure he was comfortable, she didn’t quite remember her own tasks. The nickname caught her attention though, and ocean blue met volcanic amber. They both cleared their throats when they realized their faces were almost touching.
“Right, right. Sorry.” She waved her hand everywhere and closed the door, making sure none of his bags were in the car door before running around and driving. “Do you mind if I play music?” she asked once she revved up the car and Zuko shook his head.
“How long have you been at work?”
“Since Tuesday morning,” Katara responded, adjusting her rearview mirror. “Patient had a rebleed and I had a shift on Wednesday so I ended up staying overnight.”
“Oh. You’re busy, then.” Pulling out his phone, he checked for any missed emails or calls. Nothing of import. Perfect.
“Yeah, but I love doing it. Busy is good.” Hozier’s newest album came on and Zuko adjusted his chair, leaning back and looking at his phone as they began to pull out of the hospital. Opening his chat with Painted Lady, he felt a flicker of guilt.
She had sounded so excited, and now that their plans were cancelled…
Zuko should make it up to her. After all, he had been gaining nerves akin to what one would get on a date, and he’d even thought about his outfit. A nice dark red sweater, khakis...
He had been excited. Looking out the window, he watched glumly as the trees passed by.
“Do you need anything to eat? It’ll be hard to get around with your ankle,” Katara piped up and Zuko glanced to her. She was worrying her bottom lip but her eyes were earnest.
“Thanks, but it’s fine.”
“Okay, but remember I’m next door. I’ll give you my number when we get back.”
She was very kind, a lot like how Painted Lady was. Not that Zuko would know. This was the most he’d ever talked to Katara ever.
Keeping his screen on, he looked down at her last text.
BlueSpirit94: we can reschedule if you’re down??
It took a moment, and then it delivered.
The music paused to allow a ear-deafening ring to bounce off the car walls. Zuko looked to the phone on reflex, then to Katara. She ignored the notification, keeping her eyes on the road and a clammy feeling snuck into Zuko’s palms as she crossed an intersection and turned right onto the road their apartment building was on. Her phone screen had lit up momentarily but Zuko couldn’t manage the sneak he wanted to get besides the Discord icon.
It could be coincedence, he told himself with closed eyes. Stomach in knots, he forced himself to look at the woman beside him. Then to her phone, and then to his own phone.
Only one way to find out.
BlueSpirit94: hi katara
Another resounding ding.
Zuko felt like he was going to be sick. A cold sweat settled over him as he stared at the gorgeous woman beside him. She was exhausted, with messy hair and two day-old clothes but still—
Katara swerved into the parking lot, parking into her usual spot (the space next to his car which was still at the office) and picked up her phone, turning off the ignition. Taking out her keys, she got out of the car and took out the wheelchair from the trunk. Unfolding it for him, she was about to help him into his seat when she remembered her phone in hand. The screen lit up as she rotated it towards her to briefly check who had messaged her and their notification previews.
Zuko watched her every movement.
Which meant he caught when she read the message and when she froze. Her eyes, wide as saucers, went from him, to the phone he still held and Zuko’s own gaze only stared at her, waiting. If he moved, he was afraid he was going to actually hurl. Whether from the pain of his ankle was starting to get to him or the fact that Painted Lady, one of his best friends, was his other best friend’s beautiful sister.
And his neighbour. And his absolute-certain crush (do adults even still get those?). And Sokka’s sister. Crap.
“Hi, Katara,” he whispered because it didn’t matter. This was his best friend right in front of him, with Katara’s smile and eyes, and the Painted Lady’s humour and wit. A myriad of emotions flickered across her face, and then she let out a relieved laugh and half a smile. He extended a hand because being half-in and half-out a car was extremely tiring, especially with a sprained ankle, and her smile grew to fit her whole face. A sun on the face of a woman just as radiant, Katara saw past his scar just as she did the first time they met.
“Hey, Zuko,” she whispered as she took his hand.

what's it like dating chance perdomo hc? please. preferable long lmao
A/N: Ty for your request! Hope you like it :) I’m so sorry it wasn’t that long I had a really hard time coming up with stuff.
Masterlist.
Tumblr media
Early work out sessions (If you like working out) and helping each other out on different exercises
Or you bring him coffee at the gym if you’re not that into fitness (totes fine you do you bby)
He’d laugh and thank you, pecking your lips for bringing him his much needed morning coffee
Gavin complaining about him not having a girlfriend to bring him coffee and you and Chance laughing at him
You’d sit down on one of the benches watching him work out
Ofc he’d flex extra hard cause he always wants to impress his girl whether you’ve been together for 3 months or 3 years
Traveling back and forth between locations cause he wants you near him all the time. Which means airplane cuddling. A LOT of it.
He’d carry your suitcase as well as his when you’d be tired from all the traveling, having done it a lot longer than you he was more resilient against jetlag
When you both visited his family in London, he’d make sure to show you all the cool places. He’d introduce you to Fish n Chips and fries on bread.
Slow dancing in Paris in front of the Eiffel Tower during press tour for one of his projects
Trying to do the vroom challenge. He’d pull you out of frame effortlessly but you’d struggle, barely moving his butt when it was his turn (based on this ig post: https://www.instagram.com/p/ByN_grmhqis/)
You two wouldn’t post that much about each other on social media but when you did it always sent the fandom into a frenzy cause you guys are so cute and healthy together
Meeting the CAOS costars during game night
Kiernan, Roz, and Lachlan all being super excited to finally meet you since Chance talked a lot about you on set
Having a cute group cuddle as they immediately accepted you into the friend group.
Chance, Ross, and Gavin observing everyone interact with you for the first time
They’d congratulate him when they saw how loving and caring you were
Going bowling with the cast, now that would be an fun
You’d give everyone the excuse that you just needed a couple of games to get into the swing of it but really you just sucked
After the second game Chance patted your thigh and whispered in your ear: “You can’t actually bowl now can you babe.” You’d lean more into him, cheeks red as you struggled to verbally admit it, making his back softly come into contact with the couch you were sitting on. “Don’t worry babe I got you.”
Then when it was your turn he’d urge you to get up and before anyone could really register he’d have thrown the ball for you, immediately adding a strike to your very sad score.
He’d brush it off like it was nothing but you knew his inner child was jumping up and down in excitement.
Overall you’d have a very fun, adventurous but also healthy and supportive relationship

WWE Smackdown Live 8/20/19 Review
Randy Orton promo: he called Kofi Kingston a coward for getting himself counted out in their match at Summerslam. He continuously called him stupid, over and over again. As he was finishing up, the New Day music hit, and Kingston ran in and attacked from behind with a Trouble in Paradise. He was going to try to destroy his ankle with a chair, but the Revival ran down to make the save. So, Kingston just beat them with a chair for their trouble.
Grade: C+. Short and mildly sweet. Orton cut a pretty good promo, with a lot of fire, but ultimately it didn’t add much to the story. The attack was nice and made sense. But the story didn’t really need this promo, unless Orton is going to constantly call Kingston stupid from now on.
Kevin Owens & Shane McMahon backstage: the two talked about Owens’ fine from last week. Owens said that he wasn’t there to cause trouble, and he asked Shane to reconsider the fine. Shane actually said that he would consider it. I wasn’t a huge fan of this, because Owens wasn’t the badass son of a bitch that he usually is. It makes sense that he would do this, but it wasn’t very cool, if I’m being frank.
Andrade vs. Apollo Crews in the first round of the 2019 King of the Ring: Zelina Vega was in Andrade’s corner. Crews started the match with a huge lariat right at the bell, but only getting a near fall. Andrade responded with the running double knees for a near fall of his own. Crews tried to fight back, but Andrade tied him up in the ropes with an armbar. Andrade then tried to hit some high flying offense, but Crews caught him with a dropkick. The story of this match seemed to be that Crews new exactly what Andrade would throw at him, as he was constantly able to counter his moves. Crews hit a nice combination of strikes, followed by an olympic slam for a near fall. As Andrade went to the top, Crews hit a huge ensiguri, and went for a gorilla press, but his arm gave out. From there, Crews went for some sort of move, but Vega grabbed his leg for the distraction. Andrade then hit the back elbow and the Hammerlock DDT for the win.
Grade: B+. Really good stuff here, both guys gave this match everything they had, and for such a short match, they pulled it off. They had a fast paced contest that was very exciting. They also told a good story of Crews being able to best Andrade at every turn, only for the interference of Vega to be the deciding factor. This could be the penultimate point in their feud, but due to the interference, I think they have one more match in them.
Daniel Bryan and Rowan backstage: the two led a figure with his head covered into an empty room. They said that they will reveal what he did tonight. So that is presumably the culprit.
Elias backstage: he was just walking around playing guitar, when he grabbed a random dude and unzipped his jacket, revealing a referee’s shirt. He then found Drake Maverick in a box nearby. He then beat Maverick up a little bit, and told him that the 24/7 championship rules were suspended for the night. He then put him back in the box and left. That is incredibly annoying and a great heel move.
Moment of Bliss: Alexa Bliss hosted alongside NIkki Cross. Bliss talked about how they were humble champions, saying that her show would be for the less fortunate people who don’t have belts. Charlotte Flair was welcomed as their guest. Charlotte said that the King of the Ring throne was more like her type of chair, which Bliss largely ignored. Charlotte said that she took the torch from Trish Stratus at Summerslam, and proved that she is the queen of all eras. She then talked about Bayley, saying that she the face of the brand over the champion. She called Bayley an afterthought, which brought Bayley out with them. She said that Charlotte was just making excuses. She said that she was better than Charlotte, and Charlotte responded that her match with Stratus at Summerslam was what people were talking about. She then challenged Bayley for the Smackdown Women’s Championship at Clash of Champions, which Bayley accepted. Bayley then pushed Charlotte out of her chair and the two left.
Grade: B-. Charlotte’s promo skills are awesome, and she made some really good points about why she should be the next contender. Should be a really good match, and one that I’m unsure of who the winner will be.
Buddy Murphy Backstage: Roman Reigns came up to him, and asked him about who attacked him. Murphy said he was pretty sure that it was Rowan, but he didn’t know for sure. Reigns said that if he was lying again, he would kick Murphy’s ass.
Buddy Murphy vs. Daniel Bryan: Rowan was in Bryan’s corner. Before the match, Bryan got on the mic and insulted Murphy for not being certain whether or not Rowan was the attacker. Then he confirmed that they will reveal the culprit, and said that Murphy had something to do with it too. The match started and Murphy took Bryan’s head off with a high knee for a near fall. The two then had a match that was full of stiff strikes and kicks the entire time. At one point, Murphy gave Bryan a huge meteora off the top for a near fall. Bryan then locked in a Lebell lock on Murphy, tying him up in a similar manner to Zack Sabre Jr, just pulling all of his limbs as far away from the ropes as he could. Bryan then gave Murphy the Yes kicks, but as he went for the final kick, Murphy dodged it and hit a hook kick. So then Bryan put Murphy in the tree of woe, giving him a series of kicks and a low dropkick to the face. He followed it up with a back drop superplex for a near fall. Bryan tried for another superplex, but Murphy slid out of it and hit cheeky nandos kicks, and then a powerbomb out of the corner for a near fall. The two then traded blows over and over again in the middle, both hitting huge combinations that ended with a pair of knees and a brainbuster from Murphy, but Bryan got his foot on the ropes. Rowan hopped up on the apron, which distracted Murphy enough to net a rollup. Murphy kicked out and gave Rowan a superkick. Bryan rolled him up again, but Murphy kicked out again, delivered a huge knee and then Murphy’s law for the huge upset.
After the match, someone tried to interview Buddy Murphy, but Rowan attacked and gave him the iron claw backstage.
Grade: A. This was a pay per view match that they held on smackdown. The action was incredibly exciting and the hits were very very hard. They kicked the living crap out of each other. Murphy had back to back great matches in two weeks, so they better give him a push out of this. He is a great talent, and probably a future WWE champion if they put faith in him. He is a top star, and they need to see that in him. A huge win, and a good way to forward his feud with Bryan and Rowan. I don’t know how much longer it will continue, but I am really into it.
Heavy Machinery vs. The Revival: both Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson had taped up ribs for this match, due to Kingston’s attack earlier in the night. Before the match, the Revival got on the mic and called the New Day cowards. They insulted Big E and Xavier Woods for the attack from Raw. They then issued a challenge for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships at Clash of Champions. Heavy Machinery then came out to interrupt. Otis started out with Wilder. The faces worked over the heels’ ribs, and gave them stereo vertical suplexes to start things off. Also during this match, commentary coined the team name of the Revival and Randy Orton as #FTRKO. If only they would tell us what #FTR means (Fuck the Revival). We saw some nice hot tags from Otis and Tucker alike. The finish kinda came out of nowhere, as Dawson ran interference on the compactor, so Tucker took him down with a Thesz press, only for Wilder to run up to him and get him in a pinning predicament for the win.
Grade: C+. Fine match, nothing really of note here. Nice to see some other tag teams be represented.
Chad Gable interview: He mostly talked about how he was an underdog, but the story here was the Shelton Benjamin, his super weird opponent for the King of the Ring first round match, was doing stuff in the background. First, he just gave him a weird look, but then he put a sign on his door that said “you must be this tall to be in the king of the ring tournament.” Weird to make this the story when the two are literally former tag team partners. Shelton will probably win their match, and given his weird promos lately, he might actually win.
Miz TV: Sami Zayn was the guest for the show this time around. Zayn immediately crapped all over the show, so Miz pointed out that he has done nothing but lose lately. Zayn said that while that was true, he realized that he needs to help other people rather than try to attain success. So, he decided to start managing, and his first client is Shinsuke Nakamura. So I guess Nakamura has a mouthpiece now, which he definitely needed. Miz asked why Nakamura would need Zayn if he is already champion, but Zayn responded by saying that he is needed because of the language barrier. He said that Nakamura is a poet, and it kills him inside that he can express himself. So Zayn will help him with that. Miz refused to listen to Zayn, so Nakamura kicked him in the head and nailed a Kinshasa. He continued to stomp on him in the corner until Zayn pulled him away, and nailed another after the fact.
Grade: B-. Fine segment and an interesting new pairing. Zayn hasn’t been doing much of anything lately, so this is a fine role for him. Nakamura did need a mouthpiece, and Zayn is great at that. This could be a fun pairing, but we will have to wait and see how good it is.
Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens backstage again: Shane told Owens to apologize for attacking a WWE official, Elias at Summerslam. He also said that if he ever did it again, then he would be fired. Owens tried to shake his hand, but Shane refused.
Elias vs. Kevin Owens in the first round of the 2019 King of the Ring: the two started out with some of their usual offense, some striking mostly. Owens started to fire up a bit after some of Elias’s signatures, hitting a German suplex and a canonball for a near fall. Shane McMahon then came out so that he could watch from ringside. Elias still took control and maintained it throughout the match. At one point, Owens was looking for a Vader Bomb, but Elias caught him in an Electric Chair, and then spun him around into a powerbomb for a near fall. The tow then battled on the top rope until Elias fell off, but he still managed to get the knees up before a Swanton Bomb. The two then brawled to the outside, where Shane told him to leave Elias on the outside, and took off his shirt to reveal a referee’s shirt. He then replaced the ref and fast counted Owens during a role up for the win.
Grade: C. I bumped this up a bit because of the Shane stuff. He is being a good heel right now, and it was a creative ending to a mini story that had permeated the whole show. A lot of people don’t really like when stuff is overbooked, but I kinda do. Makes things interesting when done right, and this was. It was a good heel move, and it rose hostilities between Shane and Owens again. The match was pretty bleh though. Elias is probably out of the tournament next round.
Whodunnit reveal: Reigns joined Bryan and Rowan backstage for the reveal of his attacker, and it turned out to be a dead ringer for Rowan. What the flying fuck? W-why? Where is this going? Who is he? I have so many questions, and I am pretty confused.
Overall Grade: B-
Pros: Andrade vs. Crews; Murphy vs. Bryan; Zayn as a manager
Cons: main event; whodunnit reveal

Pairing: Loki x Asgardian!Reader
Summary: While posing as Odin, Loki busts you out of the cell you were being held captive in, after you refused to give the real Odin information on Loki. Your fire matched, being the only people who could fully handle each other, it’s only a matter of time until trouble finds the two of you.
Requested By: @jackiequick
Song: “Bad Things” by MGK & Camila Cabello
Warnings: Slight Angst, tiny mention of blood
Part 1 Part 2
Your POV
The familiar cold wall comforts my head as I rest against it. My cell wasn’t the home of many comfortable places but I found peace within this moment. My eyes travel down to my wrist at the marking a bit darker than the rest of my skin tone. It reminded me of him. Despite the guards informing me about Loki’s so called death...I don’t believe it. The Loki I know is not dense enough to willingly die, to willingly subject himself to be belittled once again. As far as I was concerned he was going to out live us all. Perhaps this is what attracted me to him in the first place...
Third POV
Loki had just gone on a mission along side Thor and the other warriors. As always, Thor had fought with rage rising from his core and Loki had been there to cool him down. Despite putting his life on the line multiple times...Thor had come home the victor. Praises from all and more importantly Odin.
Knowing that Loki wouldn’t be disturbing anyone if he simply left their celebration, he did so.
He arrived on horseback in a black cloak at the pub located very distant from the palace. Tying his horse on a post just outside, he entered the rowdy pub. Loki swiftly removed the hood of the cloak as he entered and gazed around. He caught the eye of a few and more importantly, you.
You recognized him instantly, he was the son of Odin, prince of Asgard. His raven hair glistened in the very dim lit lights that hung above the bar. You couldn’t deny that he was a sight for sore eyes.
Loki gently sat down on one of the stools. The piano was still being played by one of the drunker men in the corner.
Snickering was heard from a table of men. Your eyes faced them as they held their pinkies up as if they were drinking tea. Obviously, they had been mocking Loki. Loki on the other hand, didn’t face them. The snickering continued as they drank their beer and pestered on with more royal jokes.
“Approach your ruler, rightfully you should face your future king whilst you still posses that tongue of yours.” Loki sternly interrupted while laying his palm flat among the wooden bar.
One of the men, the largest amongst the group, grabbed Loki’s cloak aggressively and turned him around. Loki now faced the man unfazed and expressionless.
“What’d you say to me princess?” He growled.
Loki gently rose his eyebrows and let out a light chuckle before slamming his fist into the man’s gut causing him to hunch over. He grabbed a fistful of the man’s wrangled hair and slammed his face directly into the bar before summoning a sharp edged dagger into his hand. Pointing it directly at the man’s throat and poking it slightly, enough to draw a dot of blood, Loki asked, “Care to announce your bold statement again? You mewling quim.”
The man beneath him shuddered in fear of his life. “E-excuse me your highness.”
Loki let out a dangerously fearsome laugh into the man’s ear before throwing him back, knocking over a wooden chair.
Right then the man left and Loki’s returned to his original position.
The show displayed before you, intrigued you very much. You took it upon yourself to get another shot of liquor.
“Another.” You ordered from the bartender as you placed your last glass on the bar. Your eyes went straight to the other rows of liquor until you felt eyes on you. Those eyes belonged to none other than the prince himself. You nodded at the bartender as he placed the clear substance before you. Knocking it back you turned to face Loki.
“What are you doing here?” You questioned sitting on the stool next to him.
“What is it to you?” He leaned his elbow on the bar.
“Well, it’s not everyday that the prince of Asgard enters a bar—hmm that sounds like a joke I’ve heard before.” You rose an eyebrows giving him a mischievous grin.
He gave you a look of warning, “Seems you know much about myself, lady...”
“Y/N.” You stated and held your hand out for him to shake.
Instead he placed a firm kiss upon it.
“Loki.” He said in return.
“Aren’t you something.” You smirked in his direction.
“Something indeed. The surface isn’t as it seems lady y/n.”
“Please, enlighten me.”
The rest of the evening consisted of one upping each other in your trickster deeds. His tales lead through the inter workings of the castle while yours were through the rest of Asgard, the parts higher class didn’t dare step foot in.
You attempted to contain your laughter after him telling the story of his shape shifting ways and tricking his brother many times. Not taking notice, your sleeve had rolled down a bit. Getting a closer look, Loki recognizes the mark immediately. The tales he was told as a boy flooded his mind as he looked at you surprised.
“You’re a Valkyrie.” He stated grabbing your wrist. Quickly you withdrew it from his grasp and covered up your wrist once more.
Your eyes had a look of menace as you hushed him.
“Was.”
You began getting up from your seat. “Y/N wait—“
“You may be a prince up there,” you pointed in the direction of the castle, “but down here is my territory, I suggest you keep your accusations to yourself.”
With that you walked out of the bar. Loki ran after you desperate to know more.
“What is a warrior like yourself, residing in such a...place?” Loki asked. You grew frustrated before snapping turning towards the man.
“Do you know nothing? I want nothing to do with the throne of Asgard. The word Valkyrie...is simply as it is, a word. Were you not taught the history?”
Loki looked dumbfounded. You walked towards a ledge that led above the waters of Asgard. You sat down trying to calm your rage.
“The battle, you fought alongside the most fierce group of warriors to win back our home.”
You scoffed, “Just like Odin to paint the picture to his favor.” Loki beckoned you to reveal the truth to him. You did just that. Hela. The battle. The massacre of your sisters. Everything.
If Loki thought he despised his father before, he did more so now.
“I’ll grant you the pleasure of knowing that I believe my father’s ruling over Asgard is not incredibly pleasing. For when I become king, I will right those wrongs.”
Yours and Loki’s journey didn’t end there. It was merely the beginning. You two indulged in tons of mischievous acts along side one another.
These things included: Secret horse back ridings...
The wind flowing ferociously through your guys’ hair. The rush of adrenaline seeking through your veins.
“You’re falling behind prince!” You shouted behind you as Loki slowly caught up to you.
“Don’t sell me short love!” He would call out back as he would take the lead.
...Challenging your strength against one another...
“You won’t do it.” You stood upon the cliff, arms crossed amongst the simple armor you wore.
“And what makes you so sure?” Loki scoffed back.
“Because I don’t think you’d want to get your precious hair coated in the water.” You teased as you two gazed at the water below. The night was cold, well more so for you, it hadn’t seemed to bother Loki so much.
“You dare test me?” He questioned as he began stripping down his armor and articles of clothing. He was left in his undergarments and you laughed.
“Oh woah, that doesn’t leave much to the imagination.” With that Loki jumped off the edge and dived head first into the water. You did the same as he had but ended up extremely freezing.
...Of course you two were a match for each other. Your own insane antics matched and this was a dangerous thing. You guys argued. A lot. Sometimes it was simple bickering, other times it was more than that and you wouldn’t see each other for a few days.
One thing led to another and both of your intentions swayed. Thinking you were simply secret friends and nothing more, you two were greatly mistaken.
It was the night Loki snuck you into the castle, casting an illusion over you to look like Sif, you two played harmless pranks among Thor and the others.
Returning to his chambers you two were a laughing mess. He took down your illusion and you thanked him for bringing you. Despite hating the very sight of Odin, you were just glad to have some ordinary fun with Loki.
Maybe it was the fact that you two made up after an argument or the way he looked at you...but you did something you never guessed you would. You kissed him. He hadn’t pulled away. After pulling away he asked, “What was that for?”
“I’m kissing my boyfriend.” You teased nudging him. He didn’t deny your request as you hadn’t known how to properly admit your feelings, neither had he. He had knowledge of many things but properly going about these things was not one of them.
“Hm, sounds like a marvelous plan to me.”
Your romance was something that lasted. It was passionate and there was never a dull moment. Your demons danced beautifully amongst each other.
Although denied of your happy ending, Loki had begin to admit his plans of attacking Midgard...as his father had.
“Loki this is a horrible idea,” You huffed with your hands on your hips, “what do you suppose is to happen?” You stood in the small cottage you lived in.
“I will rule over them all. I will be their king, they will praise me for the god I am.” He said as if it were an obvious answer.
“Is this not enough for you? You do not need to be better than Odin. You don’t need to become him Loki!”
“I am not Odin! I thought you’d want this, once I rule as their king...you will come with me to rule as their queen.” He grabbed your hands and you looked down as they were held together tightly. They felt much colder now.
“If you leave, do not bother coming back. This is your decision.” You spoke sternly.
Loki breathed out of his nose roughly and looked at your figure as turned away from him.
“If that’s what you wish...I-” He hesitated to announce his true feelings to you one last time...but instead turned and walked out of the cottage before slamming the door roughly behind him. Hot tears stung your eyes.
After Odin found out what his adopted son was up to, he knew immediately who to question.
“You are a Valkyrie! You serve me! The throne! You shall give me every ounce of information you’ve gathered from Loki or you will be thrown into a cell for the rest of your days!” Odin boomed, threatening you.
Blood dripped form the corner of your mouth. You had put up a great fight before being captured by the guards. They still held you by your arms tightly. “Then throw me in the cell,” you spit on the ground before him, “I’m not telling a sad excuse for a king anything.” Despite being extremely hurt with Loki, you would never give him up.
Your POV
I chuckled at all the gathered memories. We definitely had an adventure. The books could never compare. The sound of footsteps took me out of my thoughts. Odin had stood outside my cell. His posture seemed off. He smirked, I immediately knew. The illusion had been casted off and Loki was revealed.
“It’s been quite some time my love.”
