A strange anomaly is spreading across the World of Pokémon that is inexplicably merging tamed Pokémon with their trainers! Here, we see the Humilau City Gym Leader Marlon merging with his newly caught Lapras, becoming one of the first-ever Pokétaurs on record (I guess this really puts the “man” in “Pokémans”, huh? 🤓)

My centaur brainrot strikes again, this time while watching Great Pretender on Netflix—or, more specifically struck, as this has actually been sitting in my W.I.P.'s folder since last January, and I finished watching the show more than a year ago by now 😅 I started working on it around the time I finished season one, but was less impressed with season two and slowly lost interest in completing it… but, since I'd already lined and colored it, I thought I'd finish it up real quick as something to share while I continue working on my comic script! 📝

That's right! Some of you may remember a certain comic I promised back in 2021 that I eventually realized I'd need more time to develop. Well, I've finally got a working draft going for it—seven chapters and an epilogue, right now sitting at 237 pages and 73,227 words—which is the reason for my accidental hiatus here. Thanks for sticking around and I can't wait to share what I've been working on with y'all soon! 🧜‍♂️

All those “a mermaid and a centaur’s baby can just be a normal human” posts are the absolute dumbest things i’ve ever read, both mermaids and centaurs have the top half of a human and the bottom half of an animal, idiot. It would be a mermaid or centaur with a minotaur that has the chance of being a normal ass human.

It was a little over a couple years ago when when I stumbled upon a handsome centaur character that PieceBoyo had created, one who happened to share the name Milo with a centaur character of my own. I suggested our Milos have a playdate or something together, which culminated in this little art trade between us—he drew my Milo, and I drew his! I’m glad I commented when I did, because not only did I find a friend in PieceBoyo, but I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying all of his beautiful art ever since! I have to wonder if that quote was Mattel’s way of hinting at a line of Centaur Kens to come in the future. Think about it: “Kentaur” rolls off the tongue so well that it practically sells itself. It’d even work multilingually, considering how “kentaur” (or some variation thereof) is already the word for “centaur” in many languages across the world. I’ve already done half of the marketing for you, Mattel! Half-man, half-horse, that is.

In fact, this was my first draft of a piece to celebrate this year’s Pride Month! The more I worked on it, though, the more I thought a proper Pride piece ought to have a bit more iconography, so I decided to finish this as a follow-up instead. Plus, just like MerMay, around here, Pride is a year-round occasion! 🏳️‍🌈👬👭👫🏳️‍⚧️

🐇 Sylbán is an athletic and energetic young rabbit with a righteous sense of justice who hails from a city under the strict control of a tyrannical cult. Having lost much of his family to disease, Sylbán seeks a way to save what little family he has left, even if it means going against the cult’s strict doctrines against the use of medicine. His proximity to death and disease throughout his life has led Sylbán to focus greatly on his own health, even to an obsessive degree.

🐍 Vashti, a physician, operates a hospital hidden in the jungle surrounding the city, where he cares for the people who who live outside the city’s limits, as well as those spurned by the cult’s fervent adherents. Though revered by his patients and peers alike—receiving such accolades in the form gold, jewels, and fine foods and wines—Vashti is a reclusive old snake, and for years has resigned himself to a quiet life of leisure, literature, and drink.

➡️ While the two meet under less than ideal circumstances, together, they both give each other something that was missing from their lives on their own: for Sylbán, Vashti offers stability, insight, and—let’s not forget—actual healthcare; and for Vashti, Sylbán is exactly the kind of person to pull him out of his slump and get him excited about the what the world has to offer again. As their commitment to each other grows, perhaps they’ll be able to inspire others to rise against the cult that has troubled their homes for so long?

I’m not one for crowds or heat, so while I was watching the NYC Pride Parade from my apartment window this past Sunday, I imagined my loverboys Vashti 🐍 and Sylbán 🐇 (they have names now!) marching—slithering? bounding?—in the parade themselves 💖 I’ve been meaning to draw more of my own original characters, so this was a fun excuse to finally make that happen! A belated MerMay commission for a client on Discord 🧜‍♂️

We all know how annoying it is to apply and reapply sunscreen all summer long, but did you know that some fish produce sunscreen on their own? Indeed, they release a chemical called gadusol that protects their scales from harmful burns. When this discovery was made, dermatologists raced to create a type of sunblock for humans that only had to be applied once. Some prototypes, however, were leaked before being tested on human subjects and, well, the humans who did use it found themselves a little less human than before! (Later tests did reveal that these half-humans—merfolk, as they came to be known—did in fact begin to produce their own gadusol the same way fish do! So that's good, I guess.)
