Bring Me Home: Chapter 2 Part 2
It's Wednesday! Time for another WIP Wednesday. No Ghost!Robin today. I've been focusing more on this fic. I think I'm going to try and start alternating weeks, but there's no set schedule or plan and it's liable to change at a moment's notice.
Fic Summary: Tim and Danny are both neglected by parents who care more about their work than their families. They deal with this by spending too much time online and find each other playing MMORPGs. They keep up their friendship as Tim becomes Robin and Danny becomes Phantom and don't bother keeping secrets from each other.

Cassie hissed, “What the fuck, Tim!”
“I know!” whispered Tim back. “Danny mentioned home security, but I had no idea it was like that!”
Bart shook his head. “Want help with that kidnapping scheme? I’ll join you on your road to villainy.”
“That’s the problem with Tim,” agreed Conner. “He makes the road to evil look like it’s really the best option. Count me in, too.”
Cassie groaned. “Damn it, you guys are right. I’m in.”
Before Tim could do more than flip them off, Danny was back. “The pop express has returned!”
Cassie was closest to the door and Danny passed over her drink first. Only to freeze as their fingers brushed.
“Oh,” said Danny who looked at their hands then up at Cassie and back to their hands. “Huh.”
“What’s wrong?” asked Cassie and Tim started to get a bad feeling.
Which was only worsened by Danny looking at him with a grin forming on his face. “Sooooo, Tim—”
“No!” Tim shook a finger at him. “You’d better not tell me what I think you’re about to tell me! You’re OP enough! No more!”
Danny raised an eyebrow. “You done?”
Tim sighed and decided to just collapse backwards onto Danny’s bed. He stared at the ceiling and waved a hand in the air. “Yeah. Go ahead.”
Danny, apparently, loved making him suffer and continued passing out the drinks without telling him what he discovered. Then the mattress dipped next to him and Danny was above him with a grin that wouldn’t melt butter.
“So, Tii-iim,” Danny sing-songed.
“Daaan-ny,” replied Tim in the same tone.
“Apparently I can sense metas. And aliens. Which is so cool. They feel so different to humans! I knew about my ghost sense, but didn’t realize that applied to other species.”
Tim just sighed and closed his eyes. “Of course you can.”
“Conner!” The mattress shifted again as Danny moved. “You feel like warm sunshine and it’s so cool. Bart, you feel like static. Which… little awkward for me, but it’ll be good. I should try and get over my fear of electricity. Cassie, you also feel like static, but in a totally different way. Can’t explain it any better than that.”
“Why is static a problem?” asked Bart.
At the same time, Tim said, “I’ll add it to the list. And the descriptions.” He cracked one eye open to look at Danny. “Will you promise to stop developing more powers for me?”
Danny laughed and nudged his knee. “No promises.”
Cassie looked between them. “Does this mean you know?” she asked Danny.
“Wonder Girl, right? And Superboy and Impulse?”
Cassie nodded. “And Tim told us about you.”
“My lips are sealed,” Danny promised.
Tim rolled his eyes and pushed himself up. “Just gimme my water and fix my phone.”
“Wow, Tim,” said Cassie. “Rude much?”
“No. Look, you’ve no idea how ridiculously OP Danny is. Almost every week he calls me saying he discovered something else he can do.”
“If you think that was rude,” added Danny with a laugh, “you should’ve seen the things he said to me when I got him killed in Elf Night.”
“Ugh,” Tim feigned annoyance. “Don’t remind me. Honestly, what were you thinking? You were a rogue! Why did you attack the boss head on like a barbarian? We lost weeks of game progress! Weeks, Danny!”
Danny just laughed and threw the water bottle at his face. Tim caught it easily.
“Just give me your phone, Slim-Slam.”
“Slim-Slam?” asked Conner.
“He tried to object to Tim-Tam. I made him regret it.”
Tim shook his head. “This was a mistake. Why the hell did I ever think it’d be a good idea to let you guys meet.” To hopefully get them to change the subject, he shoved his phone in Danny’s direction. “What do you need to do to this anyway?”
“We just need to make it compatible with ectoplasm. There’s enough ambient ecto in Amity that waiting a few weeks allows it to happen naturally, but that’s not an option for you guys. Tuck and I went through, like, fifty devices figuring out the exact quantities and locations to add ectoplasm to force the process without destroying the device. It took us ages, but we figured it out. Now Tuck and I get extra money from the tech geeks in town who don’t want to wait the month or so it usually takes for new devices to start working.”
“Speaking of Tucker, will I be able to meet him? And Sam? You’re meeting my friends, I want to meet yours.”
Danny shrugged. “Sure. I’ll text them to meet us at Nasty Burger in forty minutes.” He sat at his desk and set down Tim’s phone to do so. Then, he opened a drawer and pulled out a set of micropipettes and disposable tips in a variety of sizes along with an empty glass beaker. Then came out an electronics tool kit. Tim had a similar one, though Danny’s looked like it had been obtained piecemeal as nothing matched. Finally, he opened a different drawer and pulled out a vial of a glowing green liquid.
Tim pushed himself off the bed and moved to stand over Danny’s shoulder. His friends joined him.
Bart asked, “So what will you be doing? What’s that green stuff?”
“It’s ectoplasm. The stuff ghosts and their dimension are made of. Ectoplasm is… complicated. This is unshaped ectoplasm, also called pure ectoplasm. A ghost or sentient creature can impose their will on it and make it function in a specific way. Since I’ve died, I have an easier time shaping it than most humans. I’ll send ‘tech’ vibes at it to get it to fuse to the phone more easily and apply carefully determined quantities to the different parts of the phone.”
“‘Tech vibes.’” Tim couldn’t hold back the groan. “It’s like magic. I hate it.”
Cassie bumped her shoulder against his. “You get that from Bruce.”
“Damn right, I do.”
Tim watched as Danny popped out the sim card. “First thing I’ll do is add a hundred microliters to the sim card. Then I’ll take the screen off and get to work on the innards. Do you guys want new batteries, by the way? Tuck’s got a bunch of ecto-batteries. Could have him bring them along when we meet up. You’d never have to charge your phone again.”
“Hell yeah!” said Conner. “Sign me right up.”
Tim shook his head, but couldn’t hold back the smile. “What do you mean by never have to charge it again?”
“I mean an ecto-battery will power the phone longer than the computer in the phone will last. I’ve switched over all my electronics. Nothing in this house is hooked up to the electricity grid anymore. I haven’t used a wall plug in four months. Not since Tucker and I fixed the batteries my parents designed.”
Tim didn’t like the sound of that. “Two questions. First, if the battery outlasts the phone, how should we dispose of it. And two, more importantly, ‘fixed’? What the hell does that mean?”
Danny had finished with the sim card and discarded the pipette tip in the beaker. Then he set about removing the screen from the phone. “Just bring the phones back to me when you’re done with them. I’ll upgrade your new ones, too. And their designs were liable to explode, overload the device, or bring it to life so it attacked. But Tuck and I took care of all that. Now devices only attack if Technus manages to get through the portal.”
Tim could sense Conner trying to look at him, but he resolutely refused to look away from Danny’s hands. He was removing the cameras and adding more ectoplasm to them, though much less than the sim card needed.
Unable to get Tim’s attention, Conner asked, “Who’s Technus?”
Danny shrugged. “One of my rogues. Tuck thinks he’s the ghost of Nikolai Tesla. He’s interested in controlling all technology and will make himself a giant mechasuit cannibalized from any electronic he can find in, like, a half mile radius. Super annoying.”

So I've decided which episode of the show this will take place during! It's mid season 1, so Jazz knows about Danny but Danny doesn't know she knows. I don't think that contradicts anything I've written (need to reread it), but if it does, no it doesn't. I dunno if most of you know what micropipettes look like, but if there's any interest I can take pics at work tomorrow and post them so you can see what I mean when I talk about the tips and stuff. I meant to do that today and then I didn't.

Young Justice spends all of their time violating the Geneva conventions or mocking their mentors bc they’re traumatized theater kids without any capacity for a verbal filter which is also why they’re not allowed to watch movies at the tower
YJ is watching some hero movie and a character with a gruff voice sternly says “we don’t kill…were better than that” so Tim gives the most dramatic sigh and goes “this is giving me back the migraine from our last lecture from the league” which leads to YJ doing their best to dramatically reenact disappointed justice league lectures
Cissie, offhandedly: Most superheroes having that dumbass code that’s some variation of “we don’t kill, we’re better than that…” make me fucking nauseous because who’s we? I’ll have you know my mother assures me that I’m a piece of shit everyday so no I’m not better than this.
Greta, in a mocking disappointed tone: Cissie! I’m very surprised at your behavior, we’ve taught you better than that! We’re here to protect people not to hurt them
Kon, in his best angry Cissie impression: Well, who’s gonna protect my sleep schedule? You woke me up at 3am to stop some idiot that wanted to steal kryptonite? Are you serious? They’re not going to jail they’re going to the nearest cemetery that I can promise you
Anita, in a dramatic hero pose: I’m not like you…you made me realize something, I have friends and people that love me so I’m not going to-
Bart, doing an excellent mimicry of Anita’s unimpressed face: He killed your family wdym you’re better than that, that’s dumb as hell you even look at anyone I know with the tiniest hint of malice you’re leaving in a bodybag
Kon, turning to Bart and making his voice echo the way Greta’s does when she’s annoyed: what is this nonsense I wouldn’t let anyone get away with doing that to you guys I promise they’d suffer immensely
Cassie, hovering in the air doing a terrible impression of disappointed superman: We can’t kill because then we’re no better than they are
Anita, glaring at Cassie with her best Kon impression: I’m okay with that…let’s not pretend you don’t expect this from me, am I supposed to care? They deserve to suffer, why should I be the only one that has to suffer?
Anita, pretending to storm off dramatically while Cassie tries to look disapproving:
Cissie, doing her angry Bart impression: You’re not gonna waste people I actually like then get to chill in jail and breakout in a couple days
Tim, in a dramatic ‘I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed’ tone: I’m not sure how you did things in the future but you can’t do things like this, do you understand?
Cissie, snorting and crossing her arms in the agitated way Bart does: I understand that our first fight will be our last because we’re not doing this shit again I’m not superman
Greta, in a gruff Batman voice: People can change if you give them a chance
Cassie, in a sarcastic Tim impression: I’ll start a timer I’ll even give him five minutes why are you playing with me rn Batman
Bart, sighing disappointedly: You're so angry and I wish you’d find an appropriate outlet for all this aggression. You don’t know what taking a life will do to you, what it’ll take from you….
Tim, in an irritated Kon impression: why not? we can find out let’s do an experiment and find out I like science I’m game hbu??
Cassie, who does the second best Batman voice: Neither of you can even begin to understand-! How do you know you won’t end up ending low tier criminals like pickpocketers? We can’t play judge, jury, and executioner… what happens when you’re wrong? What’s going to stop you?
Greta, fiddling with a phone and shrugging before giving Cassie Tim’s patented ‘I can ruin your life and you’ve just given me a reason’ look while doing her impression of the way Tim stands when he’s pissed and rolling her eyes: Self control? Common sense? When have my hunches ever been wrong? Don’t play with my intelligence, it will not work out for you
Bart, doing his best to copy the way Cassie stands and messes with their hair when they’re pissed: I’m just saying, if you blow up a city block you lose air privileges I have debris in my shoes rn for what?
[JL was meeting with a bunch of reporters in the tower and later had to do a lot of damage control after the press released a statement about the JL failing to rehabilitate young villains]

This short story is inspired by @puhpandas ! I thought it was a headcanon that had a lot of room for ✨ angst ✨ so I wrote a little something… enjoy!
Original Post
“I don’t get it, Cassie. Why did you go out of your way… to save him?”
“He’s my best friend… We’ve been friends ever since my birthday party… And I always felt bad he never had a house of his own… He was lonely. And he must feel even more lonely now.”
Roxy tilts her head at me, and even though I can’t tell her expression, her small hum makes me believe that she’s at least trying to understand.
I explain further, “My Dad didn’t know Gregory didn’t have a place to say. Gregory said not to tell him. He made me promise, even though he comes to our house when it’s thunderstorming and he needs shelter. I didn’t know what to tell my Dad when he asked about it.”
Roxy appears to be thinking. “Well… what happened?” She sounds actually a bit curious.
I get lost in my thoughts. He visited our house almost every day after my dad got off work. My dad didn’t think anything of it at first… but when Gregory started staying late nights, my dad started getting suspicious something was going on… but I couldn’t tell him.
One night, it was stormy out, one of those really bad storms that rattle houses and light up the whole sky with white bolts of lightning. I couldn’t stop thinking about him and how the wind could blow his tiny shelter away, or how the thunder scared him, or…
But a knock at my window interrupts my thoughts. I already know who it is; he always comes over when it gets that bad.
“Gregory…!” I don’t waste any time getting up and opening the window for him. “You’re soaked! Why didn’t you come sooner—?”
He waves me off, stepping inside on a towel that’s always there that I keep just in case.
I figure he doesn’t want to talk about it now. “Want dry clothes?” I turn around, getting some clothes from my drawer that I keep for him when this happens, but when I turn back, Gregory is kneeling, curled up on the towel on the ground.
“New clothes?” I hand them to him.
“Thanks,” He mutters, looking up at me.
I cautiously try to bring up the subject again. “I didn’t see you at the pizzaplex today… what happened?” When he doesn’t answer right away, I add, “I missed you.”
He sighs. “…I got in trouble again. They almost got me this time.”
I look away. “If… you stayed with us… you wouldn’t have to keep sneaking in for stuff—“
“Cassie…” He groans and curls up again. “I told you, I can’t.” He mutters.
“You can’t keep… hiding. We can help you…”
“Can we not talk about this??” He snaps, but immediately lowers his tone when he says, “Please?”
I don’t answer, pacing around my room a bit before asking, “So you didn’t eat today?”
“Just some snacks,” He says simply.
Despite how tense it feels to talk right now, I ask, “Are you hungry….?”
“I don’t want to take your food…”
“No, no, we have leftovers. My dad made pasta tonight.”
“At least it’s better than dumpster pizza,” He chuckles, but stops when he sees I don’t find it as funny as he does. “Yeah, pasta is fine…” He adds quietly.
“My dad is probably still awake but hopefully he’ll be in his room or something…”
He just silently follows me downstairs, eyes fixed at the ground.
“Cassandra, what are you doing up this late—?”
My dad’s voice makes both of us jump.
“And— Gregory, what are you doing here?”
“He didn’t feel safe at his house—!” I butt in without thinking.
Gregory shoots me a look, and I already know I’ve messed up.
“Why?” My dad’s eyebrows furrow deeply into that line in between his eyebrows.
“I… I don’t necessarily feel unsafe…” Gregory starts but my dad isn’t finished.
“You’ve been coming over a lot here lately, Greg. Not that you’re bad company— quite the opposite— It’s just I’m worried about you. If your family is treating you badly—“
“No! No… I’m okay.”
My dad’s brows remain furrowed but he backs off. “Okay. If you ever need anything—“
“He’s hungry,” I jump in to end the conversation before it escalates.
My dad seems to buffer for a moment. “Right… Food. We have pasta.”
“Yep, I know.” Gregory flashes him a tight smile.
My dad eventually gives us our servings of fettuccine alfredo, saving the smallest serving for himself. But when Gregory and I go back upstairs, Gregory can’t seem to bring himself to eat. He just stares at the ground, almost completely lost in thought.
“Gregory….?”
It’s too dark to see at first, but when he starts to shake, I realize.
“Greg, don’t— don’t cry… Why are you—“
“Leave me alone, Cass—“ He says with tears in his voice.
“Is it the pasta?”
“No—“
I don’t want him to cry. That’s all I care about right now. “I’m sorry I said that to my dad— I didn’t mean to— It just came out—“
“No, Cassie! It’s not that—!” He practically slams his palms on his eyes in frustration.
“Then what is it??”
“I—“ He stops to take in a shaky breath. “I don’t want to go back…”
My vision blurrs as my ears start to grow hot. “…But you shouldn’t have to…. You can stay with us…”
“I can’t…”
“Why??” My voice breaks.
“Your dad will figure out… and it’ll be complicated and everything—“
“But it’ll be worth it in the end…” I kneel next to him.
He swipes at his eyes with his sleeve. He pauses. “You really think so?”
“Yes…! Yes…” And for once, I can actually feel a little hope.
He looks at me with red-rimmed eyes, but under all the stress and sadness in his expression, I can tell he’s feeling a little hope too.
It lingers only for a moment before it dies out again. “I can’t…” He whispers, more tears slipping down his face.
A knock at my door makes us both turn.
“Greg…” Dad’s back again, and I know he’d be even more worried that we’re both crying. “You’re not okay.”
“No— I am—“
“No, you’re not.” He states, not in frustration, but in firm concern. “Is someone hurting you at home?”
“No— Nothing is wrong—“ But the way he starts to tremble makes him even less convincing.
“You’re shaking, Greg. Clearly something is wrong…!”
“I— No—“ His face contorts as he cries more.
“I’m calling the police—“
“No—!” Gregory shoots up, his eyes wide and full of panic.
“We have to help you, Greg! Trust me, it’ll be okay.”
“No, no, no— You can’t—“
“It’s okay; you don’t have to protect whoever it is.”
Gregory tries to protest but he’s already reaching for his phone.
“Don’t worry,” He tries to reassure Gregory, but he just seems to get even more panicked.
“No! Please! You can’t—“
“Gregory—“ I hold him back, trying to give a hug or anything to give him reassurance but he pushes me away again. But not just me, he pushes my dad and I away, bolting down the stairs, despite my dad trying to chase him down.
“Gregory!” I scream desperately as he slams his way out the door and into the pouring rain. My dad follows after but I can’t seem to move. In fact, I don’t think I can do anything at all.
I can’t breathe. I can’t breathe. I can’t breathe…
“Kid! Breathe!” Roxy shakes me out of it.
“Sorry—“ I gasp for air. “I didn’t realize…”
“Don’t be sorry. Just watch yourself.”
Her paw is heavy on me when she rests it on my shoulder. “I didn’t know he was… homeless. If we knew— If Vanessa knew, we wouldn’t be so hard on him.”
“…I haven’t seen him since,” I add quietly. “That’s why I’m looking for him Roxy… He deserves a better life. A place where he can hide and be safe… You understand, right?”
After a moment, she nods slightly. “Yeah… I guess I do… I’m sorry, Cassie. And if I ever see him again… I’ll say sorry to him too.”
“If…” I whisper, feeling hope vanish again like it vanished in his eyes that night.

I am gonna take the month off from doing daily polls, I think, and concentrate on writing a thing for NaNoWriMo. Not that I won't be writing anything else, I will definitely be writing other things, just I'm gonna make a NaNo project my priority.
Buuuuut due to my current hyperfixations being what they are, I am absolutely gonna make that NaNo project a DC fic, haha. I'm just not sure which idea I wanna go for, so here's some elevator pitches and a poll for y'all to help me decide!
(not guaranteeing I'll write the winner, just I'm gonna use the poll rankings to help me decide which one to try for, if that makes sense)
elevator pitches:
de-aged Kon + the Lane-Kent family
Kon gets magically de-aged to ten years old and Clark and Lois and also-ten!Jon take them in for the duration. Featuring Clark being an oblivious dad, self-discovery enby!Kon, and adorable little-kid crushes on various Robins from various Superboys. Also featuring Consequences and the results thereof.
Jazz and Jason go to Arkham for very different reasons and in very different ways
Jazz Fenton just got hired at Arkham Asylum and everyone keeps saying that the Red Hood is an incredibly difficult patient to work with, but she's more concerned with why no one's been feeding this starving baby halfa the ectoplasm he needs to LIVE. Featuring Jazz smuggling in said ectoplasm, half-feral Jason just delirious enough from hunger to unthinkingly drink the Lazarus water this doctor is pushing on him, and all the complicated shit that happens after that.
Kon is too trans for this pregnancy shit
Closeted!Kon accidentally gets knocked up by a random hookup and now has to explain his gender identity to everyone he knows and also have a baby while NOT explaining his sex life to either the Kents or Smallville. Featuring fake baby daddy Bart, awkward but trying his best Clark, and Tim and Cassie not understanding why Kon and Bart didn't tell them they were sleeping together.
the one where Clark is trans but Kon isn't, and no one actually knows this
Clark is a trans man and Kon is not, but some assumptions have been made by the rest of the world. Featuring Kon's constant escalating internal crisises, Young Justice and Cadmus making some understandable mistakes while trying to respect and validate "him", and Match accidentally being the one true ally for his cister.
Krypton lives and Kara Zor-El did not sign up for this
Kryptonian diplomat Kal-El goes to Earth and gets cloned about it, and somehow Kara is now stuck babysitting her baby cousin's teenage clones back on Krypton while said baby cousin is busy arguing with the council about how said teenage clones should be granted sanctuary and Kryptonian citizenship. Featuring Kon and Match wanting their superpowers back and not understanding why no one wants them to be weapons anymore, accidental mom General Kara Zor-El, and pretty young thing Lena Luthor wearing increasingly weaponized business formal to these intergalactic custody hearings.
obligatory sugar daddy Tim/sugar baby Kon AU
Early-days YJ Tim finds out that Superboy is working for and LIVING in a lab that once tried to mind control him and does the rational thing about it, which is to go "meet" him as Tim Drake and convince him to let him buy him an apartment and pay for his entire life. Featuring accidental sugar daddy Tim, very willing sugar baby Kon, and Clark being extremely stressed about the "daddy" Kon hasn't told him the actual name of.
the Gotham Kid
Cadmus successfully copied Superman's memories into the Kid when they made him, and post-Engine City the Kid runs away from being Superboy so as not to risk any supervillains finding out about said memories and hurting any of the people in them. Featuring being a homeless superpowered teenager in Gotham, meeting a very angry dead Robin and a very cute alive one, and keeping your mouth shut just to make sure there's no risk of Superman ever hearing your voice and finding you.
YJ den mom Black Zero
Kon successfully drags Black Zero back to his own reality for rehabilitation, the responsible adults there all realize they can't ethically dump him in the Phantom Zone for interdimensional crimes they only know of through hearsay, Kon doesn't see the problem with this, and Red Tornado did not ask for a reality-conquering coworker but now he's got one. Featuring Harm regretting all of his life choices, a very pissed-off superclone fistfighting Doug Side, and if anything ever happens to Young Justice, Black Zero will destroy this entire reality and then himself.
YJ packs up and gets pupped
Stray!Kon presents as an omega and doesn't know what to do about it, and Young Justice decides the obvious solution is to pack up but also accidentally knocks him up with an entire litter in the process because whoops, apparently Kryptonian-human hybrids ARE fertile after all. Featuring the comedy of errors that is every single adult in their lives not being told what's going on except for Max and Red Tornado, because obviously Max and Red Tornado, and also YJ setting up a secret identity for Kon and him discovering he kind of likes it.
"something I will supply in the replies!!"
Legit, friends, make your pitches, I am both actively listening and easily influenced.

You danced until your feet ached and then a little more, nearly falling sat when you came back to Bucky's side, and your husband looked very amused.
"You had your fun?" he whispered into your ear.
You giggled.
“Lots of it,” you decided, falling with your head on his shoulder. “But I’m tired now. How long does the part go on?”
He chuckled.
“Well… it doesn’t quite stop,” he explained. “We lave, sleep and come back when we are up again. There is always some number of people dancing and eating and celebrating together.”
You turned to him, shocked.
“For a whole week,” James continued. “We don’t have any public appearances on the 31st, we mostly sleep, and then have a small and family bound New Year’s Eve.”
You exhaled, thinking a little bit.
“It sounds so exhaustive,” you touched his arm. “Seven whole days? Without a break during the day?”
He nodded, not seeming surprised.
“You have your 12 days of Christmas. It isn’t so different.”
Well… from that angle he was right, yeah.
“If you are tired, we can go,” he reached for you, resting his hand on yours. “We won’t be the first.”
You looked around and then at the large ticking cock at the end of the room. It was very late indeed.
“You can stay if you want to,” you assured him. “I can see myself back to bed.”
Your husband shook his head, standing up.
“And leave you?” he asked. “Never.”
You stood up with him, and saw Cassie standing up just as well and coming in your direction, and you tapped James’ arm gently before moving to her.
“Are you coming to help me?” you asked her.
She nodded.
“Yes, ma’am. We agreed I’d be with you tonight, so the other girls could have a bit of a fun night,” she smiled, looking amused.
You squeezed her hands.
“I’ll undress myself,” you told her. “Just make sure someone will be there tomorrow. You can stay and celebrate.”
She smiled and didn’t even ask you twice before rushing to Rebecca’s side and joining the girls in their never-ending dance, leaving you to chuckle. You took James’ hand and walked out with him, entering your chambers and room with him, and you were a little too focused on taking off your cap to find notice the changes.
You placed it down on your vanity, unpinning your braids, and turned to look at James when he closed the door.
It was just then that you realised
Thick arrangements of dark red carnations on both sides of your bed.
Deep love and affection, was what they meant.
James stood by the bed, waiting, a little flushed.
“I thought you might like them,” he spoke slowly. “I… their meaning…”
You nodded with him.
“I know,” you told him. “And I love them very much.
James smiled and you exhaled, moving your hands over your body.
“I… hm…” you looked at the fabric. “I could use help, Undressing.”
Your husband looked at you and then at his hand, and you chuckled a bit.
“With the pulling.”
He giggled, and moved to you.
“I’ll try my best,” he decided, taking off his cape and setting it aside, his hand now free.
There were lots of layers to take off. Your jewellery first, the girdle you’d received as a birthday gift at some point, you didn’t quite remember. Then your false sleeves and the partlet around your neck, and James unfastened your gown when you removed your stomacher, his fingers very skilful for a man with only five of them, and he pulled your gown back with a bit of a struggle and your help, draping it over a chair as you looked for the ties of your four-part, grateful that there was no pinning involved in it this time.
“How many layers do you have left?” he asked, sounding very confused as he stepped to you.
You looked down at yourself.
“A few more,” you chuckled, surprised by his question. “I need your help with my kirtle, I can’t quite reach where they are laced.”
James walked to you, standing on your front and looking around.
“On the back,” you corrected him.
Your husband’s cheeks flushed pink, and he moved to stand behind you.
You tried not to flush as he searched your back and bum with his hand to find the ties, and pulled on them to make it loose.
“Hold on,” you mumbled. “This one pulls from over my head.”
You squirmed, not used to doing it on your own, and squirmed away from the rigid shaping, exhaling in relief when he pulled it from over you.
“See?” you giggled. “That’s why I need so much help.”
James laughed along, and you breathed out, smiling up at him as you stood straighter.
“One more now, dear,” you told him, looking for your petticoat’s button.
Before you could find it, he approached you again, his chest pressing flushed on yours as his hand embraced you and his fingers found the button and undid it.
You didn’t even move, burning all over your cheeks and face as the underskirt fell down.
Oh.
You were completely undressed now, weren’t you?
James’s hand didn’t leave you, and he held you in place, looking at you very intently.
“Happy Christmas,” he whispered.
You exhaled, relaxing, and touched his cheek,
“Happy Christmas.”
You stood on your tiptoes to kiss him, and gasped when he picked you up, lifting you and carrying you to a different spot right by your bed, and dipped you.
“James!” you yelped. “Why did you do that?!”
He raised his chin and then pointed up with his chin.
You followed his guidance, and gasped when you saw what was hanging over the two of you.
A mistletoe!
“See?” he asked, sounding teasing and amused. “We should kiss. It’s a Mistletoe.”
You giggled.
“Yes, we should,” you agreed.
You placed a hand on his cheek and kissed him, at last. On his lips, not on his cheek. Just like the tradition said.
James stood straight again, taking you with him, and held you as you slowly sat on the bed, standing between your spread legs, pushing your shift the littlest bit as he did, and then pulled back.
“I’ll…’ he exhaled, hesitant. “You… we…”
You stopped, waiting for what he had to say, and James slowly moved away from you, kneeling between your knees and looking up at you. His eyes were soft and sweet, and when he moved his hand up, you were quick to offer yours to take it.
“We don’t have to do anything,” he told you, “I know we are still trying to find our footing, and I really don’t think I’ve been a good lover to you.”
You watched him, hesitant, unsure of what you were doing to say.
What you were supposed to say.
“I liked it when you kissed me,” you told him, deciding to be honest. “And when you were tender and sweet.”
James nodded with you.
“So maybe,” you hesitated. “If it’s not too much to ask…”
“I can be more like that,” he nodded, and he looked very genuine in it.
You nodded with him.
“It’d be nice,” you squeezed his hand. “We could… we could try now.”
James raised his eyes to meet yours, and you looked away from him.
“Or not,” you added quickly. “If you are uncomfortable, we can-”
“We can,” he interrupted you. “Now. If you want to.”
You exhaled, and kissed his lips.
“I do,” you told him. “Please.”
James kissed you again and you used your free hand to cradle his jaw and caressed his skin, petting the back of his hair.
When your husband pulled back, his eyes were filled with something new, something sweeter and warmer, eager.
“Do you want help?” you asked him. “With your clothes?”
James nodded, and you stood up, feeling a bit self-conscious in your lack of clothes, but stood anyway to help him.
You undid his ties and pushed hos clothes off, until James was just in his tunic.
He stopped, at last, when you were both dressed in a single piece.
“I need help,” he told you softly. “To take off my arm.”
You nodded, a little unsure.
“How do I do that?” you asked, unsure.
He untied his tunic, pushing it off of his right shoulder, and you could see a device around his chest.
“I’ll… hm…” he spoke slowly. “I’ll take this off.”
You nodded, and looked away from him as he took off his tunic, and your husband was modest enough to cover his manhood with the piece of clothing, and you eyed his chest for a moment.
There was a contraption device, looking like a partlet made of leather, with clasps that kept his arm attached to his shoulder without having to tie around his neck.
You undid the belt-styled clasps, all three of them, and you could hear the sound of the gold-plated metal moving as you did, and he showed him the last tie, so you could pull it.
“You can pull it,” he spoke slowly.
You complied, and he showed you how to do so, first pushing it up, then to the side, and then down, revealing what he had left of his arm, though it was covered with a leather sleeve.
“This one just slides down,” he told you softly, moving to do so himself, and you mimicked his moves.
At last, there was fabric wrapped around him, its last roll pinned into place in the front, and you pulled it gently, pulling and working on unwrapping him. It was linen, like his tunic and your shift, probably for his comfort.
He sat quietly as you rolled the linen and pinned it, placing it on your bed side.
“Does it hurt?” you asked him.
James flexed the muscle under his scarred skin.
“Sometimes,” he confessed. “Sometimes I feel the rest of it, even though it isn’t there. It aches, flutters… tingles.”
You nodded along.
“Is it hurting now?” you asked.
Bucky looked up at your face, and shook his head.
“No,” he assured you. “It’s alright now.”
You nodded and sat o the bed, watching him.
“May I kiss you again?” he requested.
You nodded again, and leaned onto him, kissing his lips sweetly and warmly, and kissed and kissed him until you were both breathless, and you pulled back when he reached for you.
Maybe it was best that you made it even.
You took your hands to the hem of your shift and took in a deep breath, gathering courage and pulling it up, away from your body.
Your ears picked up on his breath hitching before your eyes fell on his face and found him flushed pink.
“You’re beautiful,” he told you. “I don’t say that enough.”
You flushed, embarrassed, and held your shift over your chest.
James leaned in your direction and pried it away slowly, tossing it behind him and slowly laying you down, his body slowly pressing against yours.
He took his hand to your face, caressing it, and you exhaled when he pulled away.
“Do you want to continue?” your husband asked gently. “We can stop, if you want to.”
“We can continue,” you covered his hand with yours. “It’s alright.”
He smiled and kissed you again.
This was the beginning of something great, you could feel it.

Supernatural (Dean Winchester x Female!Reader)
Tumblr media
Route 666
Masterlist
"Ok. I think I found a way we can bypass that construction just east of here. We might even make Pennsylvania faster than we thought." Sam said as he and I look over a road map that was laying on the hood of the Impala. "Yeah. Problem is, we're not going to Pennsylvania." Dean said and Sam and I look over at him, confused, as he pockets his phone.
"We what?" Sam and I asked in unison.
"I just got a call from an, uh, old friend. Her father was killed last night, think it might be our kind of thing." Dean replied. "What?" I asked. "Yeah. Believe me, she never woulda called, never, if she didn't need us." Dean said as he starts to get into the car, but Sam and I don't move.
"Come on, are you guys coming or not?" Dean asked. Sam and I exchange a look before I shrug at him then we get in the car and take off.
"By old friend you mean...?" Sam started to ask but Dean talks over him. "A friend that's not new." He said. "Oh yeah, thanks." Sam said, sarcastically. "So her name's Cassie huh? You never mentioned her..." I said to Dean, suspiciously. "Didn't I?" Dean asked and Sam and I look at Deam, expectantly.
"Yeah, we went out." Dean admits and I swallowed this suddenly large lump that came up in my throat. Sam looks over at me like he wanted to say did I hear that right? I nod slightly as I turn to Dean.
"You mean you dated somebody? For more than one night." I said to him. "Am I speaking a language you're not getting here?" Dean asked, annoyed, and I raised my hands up. "Just askin'. Geez." I said and Dean sighs.
"Dad and I were working a job in Ohio, she was finishing up college. We went out for a couple of weeks." Dean replies. "And...?" Sam and I asked, in unison, and Dean shrugs slightly.
"Look, it's terrible about her dad, but it kinda sounds like a standard car accident. I'm not seeing how it fits with what we do." Sam said. "Which by the way, how does she know what we do?" I asked Dean and he looks up at the rearview mirror at me, shifty, and my jaw drops as I realized what he was hinting.
"You told her." I said, shocked, and Sam looks at him. "You told her, the secret! Our big family rule number one. We do what we do and we shut up about it. For a year and a half, I do nothing but lie to Jessica, and you go out with this chick in Ohio a couple of times and you tell her everything?" Sam asked, slightly angry.
Dean stays silent, staring straight ahead at the road. "Dean!" I shouted. "Yeah. Looks like." Dean said and he continues to stare ahead while Sam and I exchange a you gotta be kidding me? look.
"Jimmy, you're too close to this. Those guys were friends of yours. Again, Cassie, I'm very sorry for your loss." A man said as the boys and I walk into the office and see this man talking to two African Americans, one man and one young woman. The two men walks away while the girl sighs then turns to us and her sights were set on Dean.
"Dean." She said, still staring at him, while Dean nods and grins at her. "Hey Cassie." Dean said and the two of them continue to stare at each other for a long moment. Sam and I watch this and I couldn't help but feel like something was boiling inside of me. Like something hot, boiling lava.
I swallowed this large lump in my throat and look over at Sam, who was smiling. I give him a confused look before Dean clears his throat and speaks. "This my brother Sam." Dean said as he gestures to Sam. Cassie smiles at Sam, who returns one of his own, then Dean turns to me and I could've sworn I saw a worried and nervous look on his face. "And this is our best friend, (y/n)." Dean introduced and she turns to me.
She gives me a smile but it wasn't as genuine as the one she gave Sam. I give her a smile and a small wave at her. "Hey." I introduced. She nods then turns back to Dean. "Sorry bout your dad." Dean said to her. "Yeah. Me too." Cassie said.
Later, we ended up at Cassie's house and she comes in her living room, carrying a tray of tea and cups for us. "My mothers in pretty bad shape. I've been staying with her. I wish she wouldn't go off by herself. She's been so nervous and frightened. She was worried about dad." She said.
"Why?" Dean asked her as she pours us some tea.
"He was scared. He was seeing things." She replied.
"Like what?" I asked her and she gives me a slight glare before she replies. "He swore he saw an awful-looking black truck following him." She said. "A truck. Who was the driver?" Sam asked as she hands us a cup of tea. "He didn't talk about a driver. Just the truck. He said it would appear and disappear. And, in the accident, Dad's car was dented, like it had been slammed into by something big." She replied
"Now you're sure this dent wasn't there before?" Sam asked as I look over at Dean and see him looking at his cup of tea like it's an alien, then quickly deposits it on a side table and I chuckle under my breath.
"He sold cars. Always drove a new one. There wasn't a scratch on that thing. It had rained hard that night. There was mud everywhere. There was a distinct set of muddy tracks leading from dad's car...leading right to the edge, where he went over." Cassie said and she bows her head, getting her emotions under control.
"One set of tracks. His." She said.
"The first was a friend of your fathers?" I asked and she looks over at me and nods. "Best friend. Clayton Soames. They owned the car dealership together. Same thing. Dent. No Tracks. And the cops said exactly what they said about dad. He lost control of his car." She replied.
"Can you think of any reason why your father and his partner might be targets?" Dean asked her.
"No." She replied.
"And you think this vanishing truck ran them off the road?" I asked her. "When you say it aloud like that..." she said with a snide then let's out a scoff as she shakes her head a bit. "...listen, I'm a little skeptical about this...ghost stuff...or whatever it is you guys are into." She said while I sit here wondering why she's giving me attitude.
"Skeptical. If I remember, I think you said I was nuts." Dean huffs at her. "That was then." Cassie said and they stare at each other again. "I just know that I can't explain what happened up there. So I called you." She said as a door opens and a middle aged woman enters.
The boys and I rise to our feet, and Cassie goes to the woman and takes her arm. "Mom. Where have you been I was so..." Cassie said and her mom looks at us. "I had no idea you'd invited friends over." She said. "Mom, this is Dean, a...friend of mine from.... college. And his brother Sam and their...friend, (y/n)." She introduced us. "Well I won't interrupt you." said her mother.
"Mrs Robinson. We're sorry for your loss. We'd like to talk to you for a minute if you don't mind?" Dean said and Mrs Robinson looks over at him. "I'm really not up for that right now." She said, slightly affronted, then she leaves the room.
The next day, Cassie calls Dean and told him that the man we saw in the office with her, Jimmy, had died in a similar way as her dad. We meet up with her in a field where there were tons of emergency vehicles around and the boys and I walk out of the car and go over to Cassie, who was talking to the same man from yesterday.
"Did the cops check for additional denting on Jimmy's car, see if it was pushed?" Dean asked Cassie as we walk up behind us. "Who's this?" The man asked Cassie. "Dean and Sam Winchester and (y/n). Family friends." She replied then she turns to us and points at the man. "This is Mayor Harold Todd." She introduced.
"There's one set of tire tracks. One....doesn't point to foul play." Todd said and Cassie turns to him. "Mayor, the police and town officials take their cues from you. If you're indifferent about..." she said and Todd looks at her offended. "Indifferent!" He exclaims.
"Would you close the road if the victims were white?" Cassie asked him, angrily, and Todd's jaw drops. "You suggesting I'm racist, Cassie? I'm the last person you should talk to like that." He said.
"And why is that?" Cassie asked. "Why don't you ask your mother." Todd spat at her and he walks away, leaving us standing in the field.
*3rd Person POV*
"I'll say this for her, she's fearless." Sam said to Dean as he finished getting dressed in a suit and grabbed his jacket while Dean was fixing his tie. "Mm-hmm." Dean hums as he looks at himself in a mirror.
"Bet she kicked your ass a couple of times." Sam said, grinning, and Dean glances at him then returns to the mirror. "What's interesting is you guys never really look at each other at the same time. You look at her when she's not looking, she checks you out when you look away. But then you look over at (y/n) right after, like you're nervous or worried." Sam said and Dean stops and swallows.
Truth is, Dean was feeling conflicted between the two girls. Seeing Cassie again had brought back some old memories and feelings he thought were long gone. But this feeling he's held for (y/n) for a while is growing and fighting with his other feelings. He had noticed that Cassie was acting a bit cold towards (y/n) but (y/n) seemed either not bothered by it or she was just acting professional.
"It's just a...just an interesting observation in a....you know...observationally interesting way." Sam said as Dean comes back from his thoughts then he sighs. "You think we might have more pressing issues here?" He asked Sam.
"Hey, if I'm hitting a nerve." Sam said just as there was a knock at the door of the hotel room.
Dean turns to the door and answers it, which made his heart jump into his throat. (Y/n) was standing there in a similar black suit as him and Sam only she didn't have a tie and the first two or three buttons of her white blouse were unbuttoned where you could see her cleavage but not too much of it where it wasn't too distracting.
"Well, do I look professional?" She asked, smiling, and Dean had to shake himself out of his thoughts. "You look great." Dean compliments and she smiles at this. "Let's go." Dean said and he walks out of the room and (y/n) follows him while Sam snickers.
*(y/n)'s POV*
The boys and I were walking down a pier where we see two elderly gentlemen eating lunch. "Excuse me. Are you Ron Stubbins?" Sam asked one of the men. Ron nods. "You were friends with Jimmy Anderson?" I asked him and Ron looks between us.
"Who are you?" He asked. "We're Mr Anderson's insurance company. We're just here to dot 'I's' and cross 'T's'." Dean said. "We were just wondering, had the deceased mentioned any unusual recent experiences?" Sam asked them.
"What do you mean, unusual?" Ron asked. "Well visions, halluinations." I clarified. "It's part of a medical examination kind of thing. All very standard." Dean said but Ron continued to give us suspicious look.
"What company did you say you were with?" He asked us. "All National Mutual." Dean replied, quickly. "Tell me, did he ever mention seeing a truck? A big black truck?"
"What the hell you talking about? You even speaking English?" Ron asked before he walks off then his friend chimes in. "Son this truck, a big scary monster looking thing?" The friend asked. "Yeah actually, I think so." Dean replied.
"Hmm." The man hums, thoughtfully. "What?" I asked him. "I have heard of a truck like that." The guy said.
"You have. Where?" Sam asked. "Not where. When. Back in the '60s there was a string of deaths. Black men. Story goes, they disappeared in a big, nasty, black truck." The man replied.
"They ever catch the guy who did it?" Dean asked him. "Never found him. Hell, not sure they even really looked. See there was a time, this town wasn't too friendly to all it's citzens." The man replied. "Thank you." I said and the boys and I make our way back down the pier to the Impala
"Truck." Dean mutters. "Keeps coming up doesn't it?" I asked. "You know, I was thinking. You guys heard of the flying dutchman?" Dean asked Sam and I. "Yeah, a ghost ship, infused with the Captain's evil spirit. It was basically part of him." Sam replied.
"So what if we're dealing with the same thing? You know, a phantom truck, an extension of some bastard's ghost, re-enacting past crimes." Dean said.
"The victims have all been black men." I pointed out. "I think it's more than that. They all seem connected to Cassie and her family." Dean said. "All right. Well, you work that angle, go talk to her." Sam said to him. "Yeah I will." Dean said after he glances at me for a moment.
"Oh, and you might also wanna mention that other thing." I said and he looks back at me. "What other thing?" He asked. "The serious, unfinished business?" I said but Dean remains obstinately silent.
"Dean, what is going on between you two?" Sam asked Dean. "All right, so maybe we were a little bit more involved than I said." Dean replied and Sam and I keep staring at him while I raise an eyebrow. "Oh, Ok." Sam and I said and Dean sighs. "OK, a lot more. Maybe. And I told her our secret, about what we do. And I shouldn't have." Dean said.
"Ah look man, everybody's gotta open up to someone sometime." Sam said to him. "Yeah I don't. It was stupid to get that close. I mean, look how it ended." Dean said and I could tell that he was heartbroken about it. And this made my heart sink while Sam smiled at Dean.
"Would you two stop!" Dean said, annoyed, but Sam and I keep staring at him. "Blink or something!" Dean shouts at us. "You loved her." Sam said and Dean rolls his eyes. "Oh God." He mutters as he turns to the Impala. "You were in love with her, but you dumped her." Sam said as we follow Dean.
Dean stays silent as he stares at the ground then glances at me then at Sam, then looks back to the ground. My eyes widen at this and I said. "She dumped you."
"Get in the car." Dean said as he gets in the car, himself, while Sam and I stand there. "Get in the car!" He yells and Sam and I get in the car while I felt this burning sensation in my chest grow.
*3rd Person POV*
Cassie sits at the desk in the lounge of her house when there was a knock at the door. She goes to the door and opens it, only to see Dean standing there. "Dean!" She exclaims, shocked.
"Hey." Dean said.
"Hey. Come on in." She said as she steps aside and let's him in.
"So...you busy, or..." Dean said as he gestures towards her desk which was covered in papers. "The paper's doing a tribute to Jimmy. I was just going through his stuff...his awards. Trying to find the words." She replied. "That's gotta be tough." Dean said and she nods.
"For years this family owned the paper. The Dorians? They had a whites only policy. After they sold it Jimmy became the first black reporter. He didn't stop til he became editor. He taught me everything..." Cassie said before she drifts off and realized something.
"Where's your brother? And your friend?" She asked. "Not here." Dean said, shrugging. "All right. So, uh, what brings you here?" She asked him.
"Trying to find the connection between the three victims. By the way, did you talk to your mom about, what Todd said about not being a racist?" Dean asked.
"I did. She didn't want to talk about it." Cassie replied and Dean nods. "Right." He said and the room goes silent.
"So just then, why did you ask where my brother and (y/n) were?" Dean asked and she shrugs. "Nothing. Not important." She said. "Could it be because, without them here it's just you and me? Not you, me, Sam and (y/n) which would be easier?" Dean asked her. "It's not easier....Look, I..." Cassie stammers then Dean turns away.
"No. Forget it. It's fine. We'll keep it strictly business." Dean said as Cassie stares after him. "I forgot you do that." She said. "Do what?" Dean asked her. "Oh. Whenever we get, what's the word....close? Anywhere in the neighbourhood of emotional vulnerability, you back off. Or make some joke. Or find any way to shut the door on me." Cassie replied, making Dean bark out a laugh as he looks offended.
"Oh that's hilarious." He said as he walks back to stand in front of her.
"See, I'm not the one who took that big final door and slammed it behind me." Dean growls. "Ok wait a minute..." Cassie said but Dean talks over her. "And I'm not the one who took the key and buried it." He shouts.
"We done with this metaphor?" She asked him. "All I'm saying is I was totally up front with you back then, and you nailed me for it." Dean growled. "The guy I'm with, the guy I'm hoping might be in my future, tells me he professionally pops ghosts." Cassie said.
"That's not the words I used!" Dean yells. "And that he has to leave, to go work with his father." She argues.
"I did!" Dean yells.
"All I could think was, If you want out fine, but don't tell me this insane story." Cassie said and this makes Dean get in her face. "It was the truth Cassie, and I notice it didn't sound insane the minute you thought I could help you." Dean said, his voice rising.
"Well back then I thought you just wanted to dump me." Cassie said. "Whoa! Now let's not forget who dumped who ok?" Dean said. "I thought it was what you wanted." She said, confused. "Well it wasn't." Dean said.
"I didn't mean to hurt you." She said. "Well you did." Dean said. "I'm sorry!" Cassie said. "Yeah me too." Dean said. They stare at each other before they start making out, furiously.
Later they fall down on the bed, both of them have no clothes on, as they continue to kiss. But as they start to have sex, Dean couldn't help but feel a bit guilty for being with Cassie. Something inside of him kept telling him that this was wrong but he was doing his best to push back that voice.
But then once Cassie pulls back from the kiss and looks down at Dean with a smile, Dean didn't see Cassie. In his mind's eye, he saw (y/n). What's weird is that he wasn't surprised nor did he stop, in fact he got more excited and began kissing Cassie roughly and they began to make love.

11. does one act as a narrative foil to the other? how so? and 26. how would these characters react to being stuck in a small room with each other?
for whichever pair you think would be most interesting!
Okay I’m going to have to go for two different character sets for these, because my good answer for 11 would be a dumpster fire for 26 lol
11: Does one act as a narrative foil to the other? How?
I debated on who to do for this one - Belladonna and Cassie do get narrative foils but a) as a pair so there’s be four characters and b) in book 4 so I’ve barely talked about them. So I’m going to go with Nellie and Narcissus instead!
Nellie’s a clone of Narcissus, so she looks almost exactly like him, but they couldn’t be more different if they tried. Narcissus is a noble lord and he’s an arrogant blowhard who’s constantly posturing about himself. Nellie, on the other hand, is sweet, meek, and shy. Both of them have significant ties to Belladonna and her family, but, while Narcissus sees Belladonna as a means to an end, Nellie sees her as a person and a friend. Despite their matching appearances, they couldn’t be more different if they tried.
I don’t know if this is exactly what you were going for, but my other pair of fools is spoilers so I hope this one’s good!
26: How would these characters react to being stuck in a small room together?
I think I’m going to go with Belladonna and Cassiopeia for this one because they have a fair amount going on and I almost never talk about it.
Belladonna would panic if she was stuck in a room with Cassiopeia - partially because she doesn’t want to displease her and partly because she’s crushing on her a bit and won’t admit it (both Cassiopeia and Cassie, at least based on looks, are her type - I wonder how that happens :)).
Cassiopeia, on the other hand, would take the opportunity to ingratiate herself to Belladonna. She’s be very sweet and patient and understanding about the whole thing and encourage Belladonna to talk to her in the hopes of manipulating her. Her anger would definitely slip through if they had to wait too long, but she’d do her best to take advantage of the time to get Belladonna on her side to try to have more control over Seventh Station.
Thank you for the asks! These were lots of fun :)

Jared Sunday Solo Panel JIB11
He is looking so handsome! He says he finally got some sleep, that last night the group had gone out to dinner but he was too tired so he decided to stay and get some rest so he's feeling much better this morning.
Funniest Walker scene to shoot? He has a lot of fun on that show, and he tries to make people laugh and keep the energy kind of light. There's a scene where they kind of introduce Cassie's character and during the scene he did something and heard the director and a few people in the video village start laughing, it was the bit where they're in Captain James office and Cassie says she doesn't control speed bumps and he looked at her and moved his chair away from her. So just kinda bits where Walker who is this heroic guy is kind of acting childish makes him laugh a lot. They have a good time, they say it's not a comedy but they hope people laugh. x
Is he going to be reunited with Matt Barr on Walker? He teases that we might see Matt again 👀👀👀👀 Says he loves Matt and that they're hanging out this summer as well, he's (Matt) getting married. x
Was it a stunt double during the part of the horse race for the ranch where Cordell's saddle snaps? He does a lot of the horse stuff but that was a stunt double. Chad Dashnaw his stunt double and stunt coordinator was the one to do it but Jared wanted to learn to do it so he offered to teach him how to do it; says he does a lot of the horse riding but the stunts he wanted to do it but because of insurance purposes they probably wouldn't have let him do it anyways in case something happened to his knee.
Was there ever a stunt that he has seen his stunt double do and he's been so grateful for having a stunt double, or vice versa that he's seen them do and wanted to do it? In Walker specifically the car crashes scare him cause imost of the stunts even though they look great on camera you kinda know what's about to happen, it's a dance. The stunt on Walker Independence, the one where his character drops from the horse, that looked like it hurt and he could see it in Chad's face but he did it again he thinks maybe two more times. But in general car accidents because you don't know what's gonna happen. They hope for the best, hope it goes where they want it and it never does they've had a few cars flips and thos- they have roll cages and all that but still he wouldn't want to be in that car, and they take all the combustible stuff out so it can't get punctured and blow up for real. He thinks it's also becasue of his car accident in April that he might have some PTSD when it comes to scenes like that 😭. x
He tends to sit a little differently on chairs, has he ever fallen off one on stage? On stage he hopes not, he can't think of when but he thinks it's just cozier for him to sit the way he does. x
What are three things he would take on a dessert island? He would want to read so he guesses he would take an Ipad so he could download a bunch of books, the crowd starts to chuckle and he's confused as to why until they point out he would need a charger so he says he would take two chargers 😆 He would take a solar charger and something to cook, pictures of loved ones, books, a charger and something to charge the charger with- he needs to think about it🤣 x
What would he advise to cope with the feeling of emptiness that comes when something you've been waiting for so long ends? There's a quote that he doesn't remember exactly but it's something like "don't be sad it ended be happy it happened". And they get a little sad too when the cons are over but the memories are still around so think of all the fun stuff you got to, and new friend that you've made. x
Was it on purpose to leave things open with his character on Walker Independence? And if there's someone walking around looking so much like Cordell surely he must be in Abby's family tree somewhere, is that something they tought about at all? They did think about it, they didn't know how incestous they wanted to be 😂
He does hope to be on Walker Independence again, that is the plan. x
When someone is possessed by a demon, and other didn't know, and he should get an anti possession tattoo what would happen? He thinks you have to trap the demon and exorcise it, ideally if you care about the person you don't wanna just stab them. x
Which version of Sam was the most challenging to play and which one was the most fun to play? He thinks soulless!Sam was the most fun for him to play but it was also the most daunting one for him to figure out what he was going to do cause it had never been done on the show. Most challenging would be Gadreel-Ezekiel because he had to do the transitions within a scene, soulless Sam was soulless from action to cut whereas when he was Sam and then he'd bust into angel form it was something different that he hadn't really done, he didn't know how it was gonna happen, and he hadn't seen the visual effects yet to know that he'd have some help but that it was a lot of fun. x
Does he have any intel he could share about wether the CW is going to continue with scripted tv and if not does he have alternate plans about other platforms he could use? He doesn't know. The new leadership of the CW has announced that it's kind of changing directions he doesn't know what that direction will be; he's been proud to be with CW since day one, he and Jensen pre-dated the CW so it's been an honor to call the CW his home for the last 17yrs. If he was born a couple hundred years ago he'd be the court jester is he doesn't make the King laugh off with his head so he's grateful to have lived the life he's lived and meet the friends he's met, and travelled the places he's travelled by playing pretend, it's a blessing and he's grateful for it everyday. So if the CW does go a different direction and thinks it's no longer the home for a show like Walker and Walker Independence they do have other options. But that's up to the CW it'd be an honor to keep calling it home, that he's been the only person whose been number one on the call sheet of a CW show every time there's a new episode airing every week for 17yrs so he'd love that to carry on, that it'd be an honor.
And he has talked to some of the new people at the CW, and talked to long time friends who are no longer at the CW and they say the people who replaced us are wonderful and kind and they really want this to work and they want it to be profitable so that it makes sense. That it is anxiety inducing but whatever happens happens. x
Is there something he can share about the SPN Christmas episode? He loved the episode and he remembers filming it,and of course spiking Jensen eggnog, that they had a great time. He thinks they shot it around October, which around October in Van is possibly his favorite time of year in any city he's ever been to, it starts to get into fall, and there's a smell in the air and the city's so beautiful so it felt kind Christmas-y because it was cooler and it's kind of like this great holiday feeling while shooting which doesn't happen often so that was nice. They had a good time, and s3 was a strange time for them as well because they were starting to introduce characters that didn't ultimately stay or in the case of one character they stayed but in a different body, so it felt markedly different than seasons 1 and 2. And it was nice, it felt like they were finding their groove, seasons 1 they didn't know what the show was gonna be yet and season 2 they kinda added some characters and they were still trying to figure out what was working and what wasn't, and where they were gonna go with the show if it kept going.
There were a few things that happen in a third season back in the day, you would kinda go if a show has gone on for three seasons and it's staying strong then it makes sense that it'll go on for a fourth and so there was a feeling of confidence that they could go like 'all right, well we must be doing something right and hopefully they want us to keep doing it'. It was a good time in his life. x

((I'm so frustrated right now. I keep seeing videos on Youtube saying that Ant-Man 3 is the worst way to end a trilogy or it's the worst MCU movie 'EVER' and other things. It's driving me nuts.
Can you do us a favour and tell us all the great things about it? 😭))
((GLADLY!!
*pulls out soap box and megaphone and stands on the box*
*speaking into megaphone* Testing, 1, 2, 3. Testing, 1, 2, 3.
Attention good people! I am here to remind you about the really good things about Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania! Because this movie deserves it!
First of all! To those who say this movie ripped off Star Wars, lemme tell ya, Scott Lang is a Star Wars nerd and if he was told a part of his life reminded people about Star Wars, he would eat that crap up!
And honestly, that was one of the coolest atmospheres I ever saw in an MCU movie. The Quantum Realm was beautiful and full of really creative creatures and landscapes and colors and it was better than I envisioned. I love how they portrayed the Quantum Realm.
While we're on this subject, the probability storm was ingenious and really fun to watch in my opinion. OF COURSE the QR would have something to that effect. It was an intriguing premise, and I would love to learn more just about probability storms in the QR tbh.
And what's even more beautiful is showing ALL of those Scott probabilities teaming up to help save Cassie because no matter what the challenge may be there is a 100% chance Scott Lang will do anything to help his daughter!
AND THEN if that wasn't enough, having all of Scott's probabilities and Hope's probabilities merging into one unit as if every probability led to them succeeding when they work as a team???? Poetic cinema, y'all!
I got ahead of myself, let's jump back to the beginning. Here we find Scott Lang living his best life, and I am here for it. He is successful, he is happy, he is loved, and he is loving people and life and getting the recognition he so rightfully deserves.
Those kids in the library dressed up as Ant-Man and with Ant-Man action figures and stuff? *cries* Scott deserves that.
And he also gets to enjoy life now. He gets to be a dad and tell dad jokes and finally relax and not have to worry about prison sentences or missing out on stuff or some crazy crisis pulling him away from his family. He's happy, and he's earned it.
Cassie calling Hank "Grandpa" gives me life.
Having my headcanon confirmed that one of Scott's favorite places to be is on top of the Golden Gate Bridge and him and Hope having a cute little date up there? I mean how cute are they?
Scott and Hank's relationship has grown so much, and it makes me happy like seriously. *so proud* "You read my book?" *so proud* "Every goddamn word." And when you read the book, there's a really nice interview there between Scott and Hank which makes that scene that much better to me now. Like it's wonderful.
People have been saying that Scott acted ooc in this movie, and I'm like no. No, he did not. He's not the same guy we met back in 2015. He's grown up some, he's figured some things out, he's got a better handle on life than he did back then, and he wants to protect and preserve it as much as he can. Especially Cassie's life and happiness. And why not? We all know he was like that before Endgame and then after Scott watching Tony with Morgan and knowing better than literally anyone else there (I take that back, literally everyone else there except for Doctor Strange of course) what Tony sacrificed...Scott's not ooc in this movie. He's growing. And good for him.
Paul Rudd's acting, I swear. He's amazing. The entire performance was phenomenal. Period.
This was a really good intro movie for Cassie as Stature. I'm really hoping that's what they'll go with because it sounds so much cooler than Stinger. And it's a really good intro because not only does she have her dad teaching her things midbattle that click for her later on, she is facing a ghost from her past that traumatized her. I think it was important she face Darren again. Facing him, evading him, and eventually overcoming him and her fear of him is a good jumpstart for Cassie, in tandem with the legacy her dad and grandad built, into this superhero role she so desperately wants. It was a growing moment for her too, and for her to realize that the monster that haunted her childhood wasn't a threat to her anymore was empowering for her. She's outgrown Darren Cross, and honestly, if I think about it a little more, there's a really good message for us in there too.
"This has been a weird day." Like Scott, my sweetheart, you're so relatable, I love you.
Could Hope have had a bigger role? Yes. *shrugs* I get what they were doing, but it could have been done better. But hey! She came in clutch at the end, which only underlines everything from AMATW: "Maybe you just need somebody watching your back, like a partner." And that's exactly what Hope is and did! My boy Scott was ready to make the sacrifice play yet again, and Hope swoops in and was like not alone you're not! All hail Queen Hope van Dyne!
And MicroSCOPE fans rejoice, I love you's happened! For those who are like "why didn't they kiss??" like hello? Covid restrictions, my dudes, so calm down.
Also what Hope's doing with that company of hers now? Like oh my gosh! She's doing what I've been saying Pym Tech should do with the shrinking technology, and I'm so glad Hope agrees because now I feel smart ;)
"She wasn't you, baby." Like please. I want someone to tell me this. That's love and devotion and a breath of fresh air from how Hank was in the comics.
Alright, I know you all have been waiting for this, so here it is. We get Kang the Conqueror. We set up the upcoming phase for the MCU. We show the importance, the intensity, the severity of what's to come without sacrificing the heart and humor of the Ant-Man movies. And honestly, I think they pulled it off.
And Kang was phenomenal. The controversy surrounding Majors aside, he was an incredible actor in this movie. He did such a good job, and I hope we do not suffer a recast.
Speaking of Kang, let's not forget that there is nothing quite as...fascinating as a character we know to be good and pure and sunshine personified just absolutely go ham. GiAnt-Man getting angry over Kang having Cassie in his grasp is really good, hot tea y'all, and I love it. After having imagined instances where Scott would get genuinely angry and imagining what that would look like and then to see it in canon? I feel validated.
I've said it a million times: Momma Bear ain't got nothing on Ant-Dad!
"I don't have to win. We both just have to lose." This quote still haunts me. It's so good and honestly it's so...Scott.
And also! For those who said it would have been better if Scott and Hope got stuck in the QR, shut up. No it wouldn't. No. It. Would. Not. It would have been predictable, and I feared it. I knew it was coming, and I was prepared to cry over it. Seriously. The intense relief I felt when Cassie rescued them genuinely choked me up a bit, I'm not gonna lie. It's good they're not trapped.
Also, I'm guessing those of you who are saying being trapped in the QR would have been better than the ending we got don't deal with anxiety and worry eating away at your insides until you feel like they're just gnawing at your bones, don't ya? Because my boy is seriously trying not to panic over the fact that he may have very well doomed the universe he just finished rescuing.
And honestly, that's more relatable. That's more human. We can relate with that, we can ache about that, and honestly, me just thinking about Scott trying not to have a panic attack over all of this is making my chest tight too like I'm in his shoes. The human element, very prominent in the Ant-Man movies.
Seriously. Did these people watch the same movie I saw? Because this movie has so many of the things we love about the Ant-Man films. It has heart, it has comedy, it has that familial love we love to see, it has a gorgeous and mysterious landscape, it has a badass villain, and most importantly it has ants.
And anyone who says this is the worst MCU movie probably hasn't seen all the movies because I can think of 4 off the top of my head that made me want to bang my head against the wall. And guess what? Quantumania is nowhere on that list.
I could go on, but apparently I hit a text limit in Tumblr, so I had to cut back. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. No, I am not up for debating the amazingness of this movie. Any and all hate towards it will be removed from this blog, thank you.))

Re Follow up to Wessa spicy and loving ur work > CC and long fits Q
I CANNOT WAIT FOR WESSA SPICY, U WRITE SPICY SO FREAKING WELL! I also have never thought about historical spicy stuff. which obviously happened cuz hello folks back then did it as well, it's not just a present day thing haha.
I think I just feel ur engagement is way more motivating and higher than CC's. Obv CC has mad kudos for creating this Universe, but like any author who has made It so clear that she wants to move on from the universe, the fun part is playing within it YK? Not just creating plots and marriages just so that the union and the good ending is the telos of it. The pay off is now seeing them banter about together, have the dynamics shift as they age, see how they view the world and how they continue to problem solve yk? And it gets even more fun when you create ensemble casts, bc THATS why Downton abbey is so long! It's so much fun to see it through, throughout!
An example I use is I follow these two authors who LOVEE their book universes, and also write generational fun family (modern day) ensamble casts with friends, and they spend normally 3-4 books focused on one character's OTP, seeing it through, throughout, and than moving onto another. Not the traditional stickler predictable "one book per pairing" in a series we see too often. AND THAN, when they move on, they continue to write publish 2 bonus chapters, update their interests boards, and talk about everything on their Patreon for like less than 3 dollars a month. there are over 100+ chapters now at this point!
Not to say that's what CC wants to do, but when you have amounted such a huge fandom, a lot of it is not just about making annual deliverables and canon events occur, but having fun just domestically and I feel like she doesn't want to do that. Which is totally fine! I respect that. But obviously the type of fan I am, as you can see, I gravitate towards the way you produce, engage and write (u write for yourself and ur fans, yes u have fans and I am one) more so than her. That's kind of what I was trying to get at in my initial post :-). Bc when CC wants to move on, it feel so lovely and safe, to know my safe space won't go, because ur still leading it. <3 <3 So again, from the bottom to the top of my heart, thank you <3
This made me tear up. Thank you so much, friend.
Messages like this make me feel extremely motivated to write. I really hope you enjoy my Valentine's fic as much as I am liking writing it.
I think I understand what you're saying - Cassie does a really good job of creating characters and telling their stories. I consider her to be one of the best creators of our time, specifically in TID and TLH as well as Sword Catcher (even if that one has less of a hold on me, it's inarguably one of her best works world-building and plot-wise.) But yes, sometimes you just want little fluffy post-canon stories of the characters, which is not always possible for a world-famous writer with tons of ongoing projects. I'm looking forward to Better in Black a lot because of this.
I just write what I want to see and roll with it. I am glad that it's what you want to see, too.
Dear God, I am tearing up a lot. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, I truly appreciate everyone who has read one of my fics and given me a chance to play with their blorbos.

Jingle Bell Goth
Part 5
Soundtrack: Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once Mortimer and Alexander leave, Bella seized the opportunity to talk with her daughter. "What's wrong, Cass? I know we're not really a church family, but usually you love to go and sing the Winterfest songs, and get fussed on by your grandparent's friends..."
"It's just -" Cassandra doesn't know how to say it. "Mum, I don't believe in the Watcher anymore. If there really was someone watching us, why would they let Malcolm treat me like that?"
Bella is shocked to hear that from her daughter. Yes, they're not a church family, they worship the Watcher by being good and charitable and kind, but there has never been any doubt in her mind - of course the Watcher is out there.
"Cassie, you know that the Watcher can't be held to account for every action. Autonomy is on full, and then there's neighbourhood stories. The Watcher wants what's best for us, but not everything is within her control. And, maybe, this is all just part of your story, an event that happens on the way to becoming future Cassandra." Bella is almost pleading, desperate to help her daughter understand.
But Cassandra won't listen to Bella's reasoning, she just ploughs on with her existential crisis.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"And don't even get me started on Father Winter. Ha! It's laughable to think I've believed in that for so long."
"Father Winter?" Bella asks, confused.
"Yeah, like, as if there's some old man who mysteriously teleports into your home to drop off presents while you sleep. I know it's just you and dad, you can stop pretending."
"But.. it's not. Cass, we met Father Winter in Sulani a few summers ago, when he was on holiday. Remember? He said he'd be sure to get you that book you wanted, and then you got it. Of course your Father and I do buy you some extra gifts, but..." Bella's words dry up, she can see there's no changing her stubborn daughter's mind.
"Okay mum, if you say so."
Tumblr media
Cassandra changes the subject, and the pair spend a jolly couple of hours in the kitchen, enjoying each other's company and singing along to the winter songs on the radio. But their conversation weighs on Bella's mind - where does her daughter get these strange ideas from?

Rambling thoughts on Cassie as a hero without a secret identity
This is kinda long. Much longer than it probably needs to be. There’s no real point to this, just musing.
Tumblr media
This is the issue where Cassie acknowledges being a hero is what she wants to do with her life.
Young Justice 20 is also where we confirm that her motivation has changed. Cassie started out motivated to be a hero because she thought heroes were awesome, wanted to help Wonder Woman, and she wanted to be a part of the epic tradition that spans back centuries. Over the course of Young Justice and her own experiences as Wonder Girl, that morphs into a genuine desire to help people.
She believes if you have the ability to do good, you should do it.
What’s interesting about this realization is that it leads directly into the first steps she takes toward removing the lines of separation between Cassie Sandsmark and Wonder Girl.
Tumblr media
This is the costume in the issue immediately following this exchange. One of the biggest things to note is that she has ditched the wig. The wig was there for two reasons: to make her look more like Diana and Donna, and to hide Cassie’s secret identity. It’s not that big a step, considering she has never been very good at hiding her secret identity, but it’s the first purposeful one. Cassie has always had a difficult time being anyone but herself. She may be brash, and even a brat at times, but she is very sincere in all that she does. It’s part of why her efforts to hide her civilian identity keep getting flimsier and flimsier after SoY. She considers having a secret identity to be hiding her real self, and getting in the way of being the best hero she can be. In Young Justice 20, she forgoes joining a school play or any other extracurricular activities because they’d only be a distraction. Being a hero is who she is. She is never more fully herself than when she’s acting as Wonder Girl.
It’s not as much of a strain for her as it is for Tim as Robin. She was never very attached to her civilian life, and she never treated Wonder Girl like a persona to maintain. Cassie is Wonder Girl is Cassie.
So on one hand, she seems to enjoy the freedom having no secret civilian identity to protect gives her. She can save people without worrying about a disguise or having to cover her tracks. She doesn’t need to hide her true self.
But there also seem to be a lot of negatives, some that are explored in canon and even more that seem like logical consequences of blowing her secret id.
Cassie kind of put all her eggs in one basket.
She decided to be a superhero, and by the time the pre-Flashpoint universe ended, she was at the point where she couldn’t be anything else even if she wanted to. After she blows her secret identity, most schools won’t accept her. Her classmates and teachers are afraid or jealous of her. She used to want to be an archeologist or historian like her mother. Being a hero is her life, but what if she wants more? Her relationship with Diana could boost her chances, but what college or training programs are going to accept Wonder Girl? Especially since she seems to bring danger and chaos wherever she goes?
Tumblr media
Also? Repercussions from mistakes as Wonder Girl reflect not only on her, but her family and anyone she knows. Her mother is a target for villains and public scrutiny alike, and it strains their relationship.  At one point things got bad enough to make her pick up a new identity, Drusilla Priam (yes, the name is ridiculous). I sometimes wonder if she regrets losing her secret identity during incidents like this.
All of her friends have secret identities. Cissie, Anita, and Greta have returned to civilian life. Tim and Bart have secret identities, have had jobs. Even Kon, who was Superboy and only Superboy for years, has built a life outside of his hero identity. Minus a few stolen moments with her mother, Cassie is Wonder Girl all the time.
It probably makes hanging out with them difficult, considering how recognizable Cassie is and how they would have to reach to explain how she knows most of them. As seen with Kon in the last few issues of Teen Titans (and Tim, for his entire vigilante career), some of them want to keep their hero and civilian lives separate. Cassie has to be careful not to blow their cover if she wants to be with them out of costume.
There is no privacy, no escaping the public. Which is and isn’t an issue for her. I feel like I approach Cassie’s relationship with secret identities from Tim’s perspective, especially regarding how important the delineation is and how he treats maintaining a superhero persona as a job. I’ve read too much of him and his difficult, nuanced relationship with hero and non hero identities not to. To me it would be stressful to be a hero in the public eye all the time. I have to remind myself of Cassie’s views on the subject.

how does katsuichi feel abt leo’s fam? who does he bond with best? who does he bond with first? who slightly terrifies him(donnie)?
Okay so I thought about this a lot.
Besides Leo who he obviously has a close relationship with it’s Raph and Donnie.
Does Donnie worry him sometime yes absolutely.
But this is a man who gives genuine praise out like it’s candy on Halloween. If you did something good or he’s proud of you he’s going to say it.
Mikey gets a second dad in Draxum (he is trying to be their for the rest of the family but Mikey is special)
Leo had Señor Hueso to lean on.
Splinter’s whole character arch is realizing that his sons are his greatest accomplishments and the best thing to ever happen to him. He is a way better father at the end then at the beginning. I was watching the show when my mom visited and I was talking to her about it. We just got to the episode where Lou Jitsu was revealed to be their father and she went “so that’s splinter to. He’s their dad.” And so she watching this parent who is so deep in their own depression and struggling to regain what they think is their lost glory that we get to the monster truck episode and she goes. “He best turn it around after this.” And he does. When splinter is faced with his failures he does eventually correct them.
However we are here for Katsuichi.
Donnie mister “praise from a parental age adult” is all I ever wanted. He bends over backwards for Katsuichi. The first time Katsuichi sees Donnie’s tech and what it can do, he is freaked out but impressed. He tells Donnie this. That his work (his babies) is impressive and Donnie feeds off of that positivity.
Donnie doesn’t have to go out of his way for Katsuichi’s approval. Katsuichi gives praise readily. But anytime the man visits New York he sets some time aside to see Donnie’s newest work.
This causes some conflict in Donnie. On one hand he doesn’t want to like Usagi. (No one is good enough for his twin) but at the same time his dads great. Even once he starts like Usagi he keeps a multi-stepped plan tucked away. What’s the plan you might ask. How to keep Katsuichi in the family if Leo and Usagi break up.
On to Raph
Raph and Splinter have such an interesting relationship in rise. But having another adult reassure you is always nice.
Katsuichi is so calm and he’s used to having his kids around. Raph is so used to carrying weight and taking care of others. I think when Katsuichi’s around the load gets easier. Katsuichi protects his family fiercely and the turtles are part of it now. Not only does he acknowledge the weight that Raph is carrying but he actively tries to help shoulder some of it when he is around.
I just want Donnie and Raph to have another safe adult they can go to.
He loves April and Cassie as he can see them and Kitsune getting on like a house fire. He is exasperated when that expression turns into an actual building on fire, but he is fond of the girls.
Mikey is a darling and instantly connects to him. He loves the whole clan as they are Leo’s (and one day Usagi’s) family.
He does have some beef with Draxum. He doesn’t care how much the man apologizes he threw a child off a roof. He appreciates the growth and if the family is willing to give him a chance he won’t stop them but he doesn’t trust him right away.
This will be come more playful the longer they know each other and they will compete for best grandpa.
He respects Splinter. But I think seeing how Katsuichi is with his own children and the turtles will push Splinter to be an even better dad.
Casey Jr. is the adopted grandson he didn’t know he would get this earlier but is not unwelcome. Any argument involving Casey he is instantly on Casey’s side. It is a shadow of the push over of a grandfather he will be.
All around he is a great guy. I can’t wait to write more of him. He’s not perfect by any means but he loves his family and that is his core.

We Go Down Together, Chapter 4
Relationship(s): Cassie Perez & Cordell Walker, Ben Perez & Cassie Perez
Tags/Warnings: Trauma, Aftermath of Torture, PTSD, Breakdown, Emotional Hurt/Comfort
Summary: In which Cordell tries to connect and Cassie tries to explain and nothing goes right

------
Adjusting after all that time in captivity had been rough. Cordell was more than ready to put all this behind him and get back to normal. But life wasn’t that simple, unfortunately.
He was required to take the time off work and attend mandated therapy sessions. He appreciated the theory behind it. Being a ranger was serious business and they needed to make sure everyone wearing the badge was of sound mind and it was fair to say that anyone who had been kidnapped and tortured was probably more than a little shaken.
But in practice, what Cordell really needed was to get back to normal. He wouldn’t feel right until he was back in the office, doing what he did best.
Regardless of his needs, there were rules to follow, paper trails to lay, i’s to dot and t’s to cross and all that. So he went to his mandated therapist's office and gave all the right answers to his questions and did the homework and the breathing exercises like a good ranger should. And every week he heard that he was making great progress and would probably be going back to work soon and his chest felt less tight at the end of it.
And if he saw his family’s eyes brightening every time he came home from a successful therapy session, that was just a nice bonus.
Honestly, the thing he was struggling the most with was Cassie. He tried to talk to her. He did. He texted her almost every day (because she never answered his calls) and struggled to get more than one-word answers out of her. He tried to set up times for them to meet and catch up, but she always seemed to have other plans. He’d tried talking to Ben about it but he was just as tight lipped.
“Do you think you can talk to him?” he asked Liam one day while they were shoveling out the stalls.
“In general? Yes. About the issue you’re having with Cassie? No.”
“But-”
“Cordi.” Liam set his pitchfork against the side of the stall and crossed his arms over the top of the wall between them. “I get that you’re worried about Cassie. I am too. But me pestering Ben on your behalf isn’t going to make her better. From what you’ve told me, it sounds like her healing journey just doesn’t involve you and you need to respect that.”
“I get that,” Cordell said, even though he didn’t. “But how does getting a coffee with me interrupt her healing journey? I just want to have a conversation with her before we get back into things, that’s all.”
Liam sighed. “Look, I know your big solution to getting past your trauma is to just get back to normal. And that’s fine and valid and it works for you. But Cassie isn’t you and this is her first time dealing with something like this. It’s only natural that her needs are going to be different than yours. Maybe what she needs is a little distance to sort things out on her own. For all you know, her therapist recommended it. I’m not saying you have to be happy about it but if that’s how she wants to handle it, then you’ll have to accept it.”
Cordell huffed and went back to mucking the stall. If Liam wasn’t going to be helpful, he’d just have to find another way.
A few weeks later, when he was given the stamp of approval to go back to work, he found his opening. Smiling as he exited his therapist’s office, he texted the family he’d be late coming home and went to the store for some of Cassie’s favorite snacks.
It was time to celebrate.
—----
“Hey, Cass….” Ben’s hand landed lightly on her shoulder. She tried not to flinch when she felt it. “Walker’s at the door. He wants to talk to you.”
Walker. She hadn’t talked to him in a while. They exchanged texts but apart from that, she hadn’t seen or heard anything from him for the past few months. She wasn’t trying to avoid him, exactly. She just didn’t feel like they had much to talk about. Cordell was off living his life, slowly getting better and better, and Cassie….
Cassie wasn’t doing much of anything.
Sure, she went to her therapist appointments. She tried to do them right, being honest enough to not get in trouble but not so honest that she’d get her badge taken away. She went out for a daily walk with Ben in the mornings before the parks got too busy. She ate at least once a day, when she could stomach it. She tried about a billion different breathing techniques to scare off the panic attacks and random flashbacks.
She just felt stuck.
And, okay, maybe she was avoiding Walker a bit because it hurt to see him doing so much better without even trying. Maybe it was easier to avoid those dangerous comparisons her therapist warned her about if she kept him at arm's length. And maybe part of her was pissed at him for his shitty advice.
But now he was here. And she wasn’t sure if she wanted that.
“I can tell him to leave if you want,” Ben said.
Cassie sighed. “No, it’s fine. He can come in.”
“Are you sure? I can-”
“It’s fine,” she insisted. “You know he’ll only try harder if you scare him away,” she joked.
Ben chuckled. “Yeah, yeah. Just let me know if you want me to kick him out.”
Cassie smiled for real for the first time that day.
Walker came into her apartment, smiling, carrying a full paper grocery bag. Cassie could see a bag of her favorite chips peeking out of the top. He brought a peace offering. Good start.
“Hey, Cass! You ready to celebrate?”
Less good start. “Celebrate what?” she asked cautiously.
“Getting back in the game! I got the stamp of approval to put the badge on earlier today. Have you had that talk with your shrink yet?”
“Oh. Uh, yeah, we- we talked about that.” Clearly they’d had a different version of that conversation. “We talked yesterday, actually. But-”
Walker’s smile got bigger. “That’s great! So, when are you back in the office?”
“Uh, I’m not-”
“Oh, it’s probably the same day I go back. I wonder if James missed us while we were out. It was probably boring without us. So-”
“She’s not going back,” Ben said coldly, glaring at Walker from the other side of the kitchen island. “Her therapist recommended she take some more time off, which Cassie would’ve already told you if you didn’t just steamroll over her.”
Walker looked between her and Ben. “Cassie?”
She shrugged. “She doesn’t think I’m ready to go back yet. And… I agree. This whole thing has been…. A little rough on me.”
“A little- Cassie, you’re one of the strongest people I know. I know what happened to us was crazy but that’s no reason for you not to get back in the field.”
“Walker, that’s not-” Cassie tugged on the end of her braid and tried to think of the words. “Look, I’m not a trained marine like you. I’ve never had to deal with something like this before. It’s not so easy for me to just bounce back, you know.”
“I get that, I do, but-”
A spark of anger flared up in her. “Do you? I don’t think you do, Walker. If you did, you wouldn’t have barged in here ready to celebrate.”
Walker’s eyes widened and he held his hands up defensively. “Okay, I’m sorry. I just thought-”
“Well, you thought wrong,” she snapped. “I’m not like you. I can’t just shove all my feelings down and wait for my trauma to go away. I’m glad it worked out for you though.”
Walker balked at that. “Woah, Cass, I- I’m sorry this is tough for you but I don’t get-”
“You know what I don’t get?” she said, her voice breaking. “I don’t get how you’re so okay. I-I can’t understand that. Because I am the furthest fucking thing from okay. I barely get sleep because every time I close my eyes, I have nightmares. I can’t take sleeping pills because I still have nightmares but then I can’t wake up from them. I can’t eat food that comes out of a bag because it reminds me of the food they gave us and I just throw it up later. I flinch every time someone comes within two feet of me. I have to ask my brother to check if the shower water is the right temperature because touching cold water gives me a panic attack. I had to change all my alarm sounds because they reminded me too much of the ones they used when they-.” She shook her head and furiously wiped away her tears. “I’ve done everything I’m supposed to do. I go to the damn therapy sessions, I do the homework, I’ve tried every coping technique I can find. But nothing- It never works! I just- How the fuck are you so okay? And why am I still a fucking mess?”
Walker’s face softened and he reached out to her. She really tried not to flinch. “Cass, I-”
“I think it’s time for you to go,” Ben said sternly.
“I really am sorry. I didn’t mean-”
“Doesn’t matter. Thank you for the snacks, but you need to go now.”
Walker looked like he had more rebuttals but wisely kept them to himself. “I- Right. Sorry for bothering you. Bye, Cassie.”
Ben marched him out of her apartment, slamming the door behind him. Then, he rushed over to the couch. “Cass? Are you-”
“No, I’m not fucking okay,” she muttered, still wiping away tears. “I’m sorry, I just-”
“You don’t need to apologize,” he said gently. “Do you want me to turn on Hawk’s Shadow?”
She shook her head. “I think I’m just gonna take a nap. Maybe later.”
“Okay. Whatever you need.”
She smiled weakly and shuffled to her bedroom for a fitful rest.
She was starting to wonder if she would ever be okay again.

🎃halloween with the avengers and co!🎃
summary: um. you can read so
warnings: this is literally me rambling, haunted places, animated bucky having like double d’s wtf, the most unorganized thing i’ve ever made don’t judge me
a/n: this is so messy but i had so much fun just writing whatever came to mind, apologies for jumping all over the place lol but hope you get a laugh out of it anyways 🤍🤍
Tumblr media
OH MY GOD ITS BEEN A WHILE SINCE IVE DONE THIS
BUT YALL SHOULD KNOW THAT THE HOLIDAYS ARE MY FAVORITE THING
I MAY BE AN ATHEIST BUT CHRISTMAS IS THE BEST SHIT EVER
and i honestly spent halloween in my dorm bingeing movies and i’m rewatching werewolf by night and just realized i need to write for halloween so oops
halloween with the team is the best shit ever.
you want to wear a costume? no party like a stark party.
sure, some people are lazy and show up in their suits and call it a day (cough sam cough)
but it’s well made up for by peter and harley both going as tony (and arguing over who did it better) and kamala dressing as carol
yelena and nat would dress up as each other and make fun of the other
“i’m natasha and i’m an avenger and i love tight suits with no pockets so my ass looks good when i pose”
“i’m yelena and i have an addiction to sriracha and versace”
tony was going to show up as himself, but morgan wrangled the stark family into dressing as food. she’s a cheeseburger, obvi
steven convinced marc to go as an archaeologist, but when the latter fronts he instantly yanks off the funny hat and passes it to layla, who’s honestly just there to watch the chaos
wanda goes with her usual sokovian fortune teller costume, but the twins are more than excited to prance around the tower in search of candy
america brings a share of multiversal candy, some of which isn’t… exactly… edible
speaking of which, if you hand out candy instead, you end up setting up a trick-or-treating path in the tower for the younger team members, with each of the rooms serving as a stop
the eternals are split on halloween. ikaris, being the stoic dramatic hoe he is, thinks it’s overhyped. sersei’s happy to see little kids, sprite likes scaring people, you know
but with all of your experiences combined, none of you scare easily
the world’s greatest heroes can tank any horror movie with ease, barely startling at jumpscares or violent scenes
but they DO NOT handle haunted areas well
this is entirely based on my experience at the ohio state reformatory AKA the most haunted prison in the us. i went up for fall break since i used to live near mansfield before we moved, and HOLY FUCK YALL
Tumblr media
THAT SHITS HAUNTED HAUNTED
i sat in the chair room :)
and it felt like someone punched the right side of my face :(
my right eye teared up and got super red :(((
but i got a piece of brick from the chapel :D
probably have an attachment now :((((
anyway, say you convince the team to visit. even better, you rope tony into paying for the ghost tour
every single noise will send the group jumping
bucky pulls a knife out of his pocket the moment you enter the west attic
steve starts out a skeptic but ends up refusing to even enter the chapel
peter freaking out bc “omg sam and colby and shane and ryan were here”
things are just made worse when wanda starts to mumble about “restless energy”
fuck that if the scarlet witch is nervous then you can be too
just finished werewolf by night moving on to the zombie episode of what if?
goddamn animated bucky has bigger tits than me
Tumblr media
are y’all seein this shit
ok back on track
if jack and elsa are somehow involved there’ll be too many werewolf jokes made
but he’s too much of a sweetheart to really protest them
i love them so much and we only have like an hour of them 🥺
scott would dress up as an ant. i’m not taking criticism. he would try to make hope dress up as a wasp but when she refuses cassie does it.
bingeing halloween movies
arguing whether or not nightmare before christmas is a halloween or christmas movie
deciding the only right decision aka it’s a halloween movie stfu
shuri would come up with a slay costume i just know she would 😭
thor and jane would have a cringey couples costume cmon guys it’s literally canon
katy would show up as a hot dog
like the worst discount hot dog costume you’ve ever seen
shang and xialing would be forced to be ketchup and mustard respectively
once again argue with the wall
overall, you’ll have fun. it’ll be chaotic as fuck, but when it comes to the avengers, what isn’t?
hope everyone had a fun halloween! now go buy that discount candy bitches!
