There really is something about being the queer mentally ill child of immigrant parents that makes it so that I can’t seem to be able to connect with my white queer friends. The cultural significance of family and my inability to break ties with them, the conformist mentality that my parents were forced to grow up with all influences how I interact with my identity. It’s like I love my parents on a conceptual level but I can’t stand being around them most of the time.

I keep seeing this same thing over and over again where people try to divide up the "good trans people" and the "bad trans people". Useally by trying to claim that the bad group is some combination of over represented or giving the group a bad name. And like, there's always something very racist about what's considered good and bad, specifically conflating trans people with traits the west considers eastern.
"Good" transmascs are defined by having facial hair and body hair, having traditionally masculine body types, have extremely western interests and ways of dressing, etc. And the "bad" transmascs are stereotyped as being too slender and hairless, and for wanting to look like anime boys or Kpop idols, and for being somehow both sexless and perverted, etc. Like, there's a very clear trend here with these truscumy posts.
Same goes for transfems. Where "bad transfems" are seen as being obsessed with looking like anime girls, being too into computers, being flat chested and childlike, and being horny in a submissive way.
There's a very clear trend where every trait members of the queer community consider negative in other queer people match up with negative stereotypes the west has about eastasian people. It's why you hear "you can't transition into an anime boy" coming from people who in the past we would call truscum, when fandoms like Dr. Who or Hazbin Hotel which also have a lot of transmasc fans and twinkish characters get ignored by them. It's why the standards for what they consider passing are always bodies that look white and dress very western. It's why femboys are seen as gross and perverted, while drag queens are seen as wholesome and marketable, they're both crossdressing performers, but one has Anglo-Australian origins while the other has Japanese origins, which is why you'll never see a library with femboy story hour.
Just like how people who enforce the gender binary may be bioessentialists, but will also claim being male or female is something one can fail at, the same goes for white supremacy; whiteness is seen as something white people can fail at. So even if the "bad trans people" in question are white, what they're being scolded for is ultimately that they're failing at whiteness, and because whiteness is tied to gender roles they're failing at masculinity or femininity.
Every trait trans people say makes other trans people "one of the bad ones" is just an orientalist stereotype. This truscumish behavior that's getting more and more popular isn't happening in a void.

I went to pride yesterday and at the parade it took all my self control not to just lie down on the ground and cry bc I saw a group of Asian moms and other parents marching in support of queer and trans people. A lot of my community don’t openly support us, if they support us at all, and to see them actually marching in the parade itself was a really emotional experience.
There were also people in the parade with signs like “trans is divine” and whatnot and I’m not even religious OR spiritual but that also almost made me cry. We’re always told our bodies are disgusting, and our bodily autonomy is so heavily politicized that to see these kinds of affirmations was incredible.

Being so autistic in your black-and-white thinking that you debate with yourself for years about whether you’re autistic or not. (Moral of the story: the DSM-5 sucks ass, it’s a spectrum, cultural and racial influences as well as being AFAB definitely affected my masking, and rampant childhood abuse)
Also me: being so trans and autistic in your “it would be cool to have a dick” (like several times a day to the point of driving your friends up the wall with your phallic jokes) and “ugh do people really just like me for my boobs” and black-and-white thinking that you don’t come out as non-binary until you’re done with your terminal college degree and have the brain space to finally be like OHHHHH

LGBT+ Pride Flags: The Original Collection. From Gilbert Baker's original 1987 flag designed at the request of San Francisco's Harvey Milk, through today, here is a collection of 32 LGBT+ Pride Flags representing biology, social networking, identity, inclusion and the arts. https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/1149629?ref=Solitarymaninblack
There are fantastical stories with actual transgender characters, some for whom that is central and others for whom that isn't. And there are stories without transgender characters, but with metaphors and symbolism in their place, genuine expressions of self through such speculative fiction tropes as shapeshifting and programming. https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/667587?ref=Solitarymaninblack
The author of the life-changing book, Loving Someone Gay, recounts his own life journey from shame, failure, guilt and fear to pride, self-confidence and understanding of true feelings. Sharing how he made the transformation himself, the first officially openly gay psychologist in the U.S. and "father of gay-oriented psychotherapy" points the way for others to claim gay identity and gay pride. https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/1028924?ref=Solitarymaninblack
Award winning lesbian author, Misty Crimsonlay, introduces us to the loveable Penelope Jones, a 40 plus woman who always seems to struggle with the fast paced changes of our modern world. In this first edition of the series, she is confronted by her girlfriend Jemma's own unorthodox attitudes towards lesbianism, a challenge to their relationship that sees a surprising twist by Penelope. https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/458347?ref=Solitarymaninblack

2023 Reads: On a Sunbeam by Tillie Walden
Genre: Fiction: Scifi  Age Level: Young adult  Format: Graphic novel
Summary: A crew travels through space from planet to planet with the goal of repairing broken down structures, chunks of history left behind. As they piece together the past, bits of their own come back to light- including new member Mia, who’s joined the ship in hopes of rebuilding her own history.
Thoughts: AAAA!!!!!
THIS IS SO GOOD BDHBDGJH For context, I read this book over a three-hour flight, during which it was so heavy that I had to use the drop tray to hold it up. And for further context, I’m writing this review months later, and I’m STILL ecstatic over it!!
I think the problem with graphic novels who want to tell a story like this- in which there’s lots of worldbuilding, long character arcs, and a pace that can slow down as needed- is that graphic novels are usually just too short to not feel scrunched. Because of this, most of the best graphic novels are smaller-scale(such as This One Summer). Which is why I’m SO glad that this is so long, because it felt like the absolute PERFECT length for this story. I was so in love the whole way through. The storytelling is great, the writing is wonderful, I loved the way all the characters were written(the found family in this is SO good), and most of all, it’s fucking beautiful. The art style in this is just insane and I was in love with the coloring. Like holy shit!! 100% eye candy. This is just so good and so sweet!!
The only real critique I have is that I felt like the eventual meeting of the MC and another character was a little anti-climatic, but it felt like that was done on purpose since they hadn’t seen each other in years and it WAS a little awkward. Either way, it makes up for it a thousand times over, so I 100% recommend this. Genuinely so good. Losing my mind.
Rating: 5/5  Trigger warnings: Bullying, violence, death and near-death experiences, misgendering. Rep: Sapphic MC + sapphic SCs, wlw romances, non-binary SC, poc SCs.
