Review of the making of the map by fox_pitch

I'm new to marauders, this is the second fic I've read.

Summary: I liked this fic, a lot. It was a fun read and I really liked the progression of both Wolfstar and James/Lili (is it Jilly? I can’t remember). A bit less angsty than what I usually read and some parts felt underbaked, but the author kept my attention INCREDIBLY. I stayed up about four hours later than I usually do binge reading this. Very good.

I like the silliness thats been in this so far. I am NOT liking that remus and Sirius aren’t talking to each other. Is it a narrative device? Absolutely. But I despise it so much.

I think Sirius’ characterization is very good so far, I’m surprised they haven’t fleshed out the Regulus stuff more yet. Hopefully will get his pov soon

Hilarious. Peak comedy. Coming back to life and IMMEDIATELY kissing Lily. Her being grossed out. Literally perfect.

Ok the introduction of the OOTP, seems good.

Honestly really like what I’ve seen in the fic, but it’s a bit TOO silly for my tastes. I need more angst.

Like obviously I want Remus and Sirius to be openly gay and in love but it was too easy in this fic, like with Destiel its always SUCH an issue lmao.

TOTAL RECAP:

I liked this fic, a lot. It was a fun read and I really liked the progression of both Wolfstar and James/Lili (is it Jilly? I can’t remember)

I do feel like it was a little too light at times, there wasn’t a whole lot of grey area morally, and a lot of big issues weren’t fully fleshed out. I wish they’d dived into Regulus more, and Snape. I wish they’d addressed Sirius’ use of the Cruiciatus curse, and I wish they’d address Dumbledores failings more directly

Werewolf shit was fantastic to read, the angst, the fear, the violence, the drama. I thought the transformations were excellently done and I really enjoyed the progression of them figuring out the roaming/playing

Hogsmeade passage shut off? Strange.

I did not enjoy that I cannot be sure they are safe. That’s a benefit of post-hog warts fic, if its truly marauders James and Lily often don’t die.

Overall very happy fic. I did love the aggressive use of drunkness as a plot device, I liked Lily’s characterization for the most part, and it was pretty addicting in the middle.

I thought Characterization was good, not fantastic but definitely good. Peter threw me, not very likable. It’s hard to do him correctly and have him add worth to the story, but I just did not like him the whole time, and I felt like Remus and Sirius both didn’t care for him and found him annoying.

My rankings are not supposed to be biased. Horrible shitty fic would get like a one, something readable but bad would get a fourish. Most fics that I read will be around 7-9 simply because I sort by Kudos and get recs from misuss so they’re better quality to begin with.

Great light silly read, with just enough depth to keep it interesting. I could see myself re-reading this fic once I get to know the marauders better.

Also, I do not like the fanart in this fic but I'm sure that's not universal. The artist is credited within the fic but I'd like to tag them here just to acknoledge the hard work that went into it. I checked them out and ADORE some of their other work, this one was just not to my liking. They have some percy jackson shit up that EATS.

poor baby’s hair droops when you don’t give him enough attention

even a tiny greeting from you at the beginning of class is enough to get him through the day 

he tries to keep his crush a secret but he’s bad at keeping secrets, and a little bad at whispering too 

honestly, you’ll probably be able to figure out his feelings pretty fast 

this one day you pass by him in the halls as he walks next to akaashi 

he’s already beaming at you and waving 

“hi koutaro!” you smiled, waving right back at him 

the fact that you called him by him first name shot another love arrow into his heart 

his smile becomes even wider as you walk closer to him

when you aren’t looking you hear him whisper shout at akaashi, “aKAashi! did you see that! y/n said hi to me!” 

the way he confesses is so cute too pls 

ofc he does it at a game you show up to, he always plays better when you do 

right as he’s rotating back to serve, he turns his head to you and calls out “y/n! i like you! watch this serve!” you’re blushing like crazy but you cheer him on as he aces that very serve

he doesn’t even expect much back, but wowee when you tell him you like him too after the game he feels like he has enough energy for 5 more games 

akaashi: 

he feels like he messes up every time he talks to you 

he keeps stuttering? why? why is his heart beating so fast?? 

in reality, he’s fumbling a lot less than he thinks 

these small stutters and pauses are much more noticeable to him and frankly, you just think it’s more endearing 

he also tends to fall into this habit of touching the nape of his hair when he talks to you 

kind of also can’t look into your eyes because he’s worried he might blurt his feelings out right then and there 

he’ll confess one day after classes and he speaks so softly that you step in closer to hear him

little do you know, you made him catch his breath with that one action

but he phrases it so sweetly i’m crying “y/n, i um, just wanted to tell you that i think you’re lovely”

osamu: 

save him 

poor boy has atsumu as the wingman he didn’t ask for 

i mean atsumu will spot you and just holler, “OY ‘SAMU IT’S-” before he’s cut off with a shove 

he’s torn because he doesn’t want you to think he’s a violent person but he also can’t let atsumu expose him like that 

winds up apologizing profusely pls 

after he pushes atsumu he’s just bringing up a nervous hand to his hair and just sort of going, “y/n please ignore him, he was dropped as a baby” 

when you giggle at their antics he feels his heart jump 

when he’s with you by himself he’s so sweet though 

he tries to study with you but honestly just winds up giving you snacks as you both talk the whole time 

pays attention to when you’re looking tired during class

and if he isn’t sitting near you, he’ll ask fellow classmates to pass you a small candy even if you’re 4 seats forward and 3 seats to the right away 

he winds up confessing by leaving bread from the nearby bakery on your desk with a note

the note says, “eat up y/n” with “i like you” written in small letters 

atsumu: 

this twin lmao 

you’d think he’d be more confident but ohoho, the more his feelings develop he find them slowly more overwhelming 

at first there was a lot of “hi y/n!” whenever he’d see you and he’d internally smile, lowkey congratulating himself 

but the more he realized how kind you were and how pretty you looked he swore his heart would swell every time he looked at you 

maybe osamu gets back at him for being a terrible wingman 

osamu goes, “’tsumu isn’t that y/n-” 

before he finishes atsumu’s eyes are already widening while his head whips in the direction osamu is facing 

osamu is wheezing, but not for too long before atsumu tackles him 

“how could ya do that! ya jerk-”

eventually he accidentally bumps into you and to steady yourself you wind up grabbing onto his uniform jacket and mans turns bright red

something about you holding onto him and looking at him so closely and he blurts, “yer pretty”

mans gets even redder at the realization of what he’s done PLS 

kenma:

he used to look forward to the breaks in between classes mainly to game 

but suddenly he finds himself looking forward to one more thing: you 

he finds himself nervous around you, and not the usual uneasiness he tends to feel with people, this was different 

you made his stomach flip but he also couldn’t seem to run away 

he wanted to talk to you, what music you listened to, wanted to know how your day was. but he felt that he couldn’t just come up to you randomly, and he didn’t know where to start 

for some reason, every glance you threw his way he couldn’t fight the small smile that crept onto his face 

what surprised him was when you sat next to him on the bleachers during gym 

he was doing his usual- avoiding extra exercise- when you sat next to him to take a break 

“what’re you playing?” you asked 

he was thankful for the topic of conversation because talking about his game was easy, he could do this 

you two ended up talking about games even if you didn’t know too much 

this might become a regular occurrence during gym, he’d also share his device with you to let you try sometimes too 

it didn’t even bother him when you’d do better than him 

 soon enough it becomes easier to talk to you, even about more than games 

he just grew to tell you about whatever he was in to and you’d do the same 

kenma would also pay close attention to what you’d mention, remembering all the tiny details, because it was you 

one day he decides to muster enough courage, heart racing as he tries to think of how to tell you 

he finds you in between classes and smiles when you notice him and wave 

he takes a seat next to you, tucking a strand of hair behind his ear 

“so what’s the new game today?” you ask 

“it’s pretty cool actually, look at this,” he says, handing you his device 

within the game, this cute little character’s word bubble says, “y/n i like you so much” 

he’s blushing but he feels calmer at the sight of your bright smile at his words

 Bad is the manager. a very tired one, but he keeps everyone in check

bad: guys please make sure we’re asking for cards today- we’re behind and-

george: how the hell do you ask for a credit card right???

bad is long gone by that point. he’s quietly sitting in the office watching george and dream bicker

he has a photo of his dog on his desk and will smuggle her into the workplace sometimes 

will deal with the difficult customers but will feel bad for being mean even though its his job

sapnap is on the floor bc he can perfect fold things

hates every second of it and always hides in the fitting room or goes up to cash wrap to bother george

purposefully messes up piles of clothes so dream has to refold it

scares tommy whenever he hides in said fitting room

overall, super chill and will go where ever he needs to but folds like a sloth

once caught someone stealing but he didn’t say anything

george is always up at the registers and he absolutely hates it

he will never ever ask people to open up a credit card unless bad is there or unless dream gets put up there with him and they compete against each other

as soon as a customer has an issue with something, george calls bad up to the register to deal with it and he walks away

george will ignore customers and let wilbur take them instead

he steals the candy all the time

dream is tossed around all over the place

doesnt do anything, yet still manages to meet his credit card goal which annoys the fuck out of george and sapnap

he hits george with hangers 

george will always hit him back

the kids are fighting again ft. hangers 

he attracts the weird customers which makes for good stories

he once fell off a ladder and george saw that and he will never let dream live that down

long story short, they got a complaint and george was tasked with cleaning the bathrooms that night as punishment

tommy is in fitting room and he loves it 

he was put there since he was “too aggressive” to be on sales floor

but hes the only person at the store that can open more credit cards than dream due to his aggression 

he gets to go on his phone and drink coke whenever

once locked sapnap in the fitting room for three hours 

whenever he has to return the ‘go back’ clothes, he sprints through the store. he literally runs the clothes. 

once fought a customer that told him he was wrong about a price. 

tommy: HOW IS IT WRONG I SCANNED IT WITH THE FUCKING IPOD AND IT CAME UP THAT PRICE HOW IS IT WRONG

tubbo is holding him back while bad is apologizing to the customer and offering them 70% their entire purchase

wilbur is on register with george and they gossip about the customers 

wilbur is the best dressed there 

everyone swoons for him, which racks up sales since everyone wants to be checked out by the cute cashier

him and george are lowkey the power duo on register 

he cares very much about sizing and taking proper care of the clothes

he drives tommy and tubbo to work

dream and george go get lunch together on their break

dream will occasionally bring george mcdonalds if he feels like it

george, in return, won’t do anything special <3

jk- george just helps dream fold the floor after closing instead of hiding behind the cash wrap counter

george will always bring dream a starbucks cookie on fridays

one time, bad wouldn’t let george wear one of his supreme shirts and he had to wear dreams hoodie to cover it up

techno is a ghost at this old navy. hes never scheduled to work but when he comes it- everything is perfectly folded and they have a spike in customer satisfaction- but people rarely see him do these things

small rivalry between dream and techno obviously 

they will always make a competition out of everything

always a closing time employee- he never opens the store. 

dream is obsessed with how he perfect folds and will stalk him around the store when he does work

techno just wants to work tbh  

tubbo is in fitting room with tommy 

hes more…passive… with the customers 

will always wish everyone a nice day even if they leave the room a mess

will take the time to clean each room while tommy sprints in and out with his arms full of clothes

does whatever tommy wants to do

except when it comes down to who is cleaning the bathrooms at closing time- then its a battle

(just rock paper scissors) 

tubbo and dream sometimes trade places, but tubbo always goes back to the fitting room since he has no idea how the sales floor works 

dream ROCKS old navy clothes 

he abuses the fuck out of his employee discount 

sometimes he’ll get george to give him a bigger discount 

george always wears stuff with brands even though its against dress code (he will not give up his hypebeast shirts) 

bad will let it slide most of the time but not all the time yk?

sapnap shoves his phone into clothes and plays games 

on the quiet days- everyone is on sales floor except tommy. tommy is forbidden from being on sales floor.  

tommy watches from afar as his friends slap each other with hangers and talk shit about the public

his time will come. he will get out of the fitting room

at closing time, dream and george hide in a blind spot and talk for the rest of their shift

sapnap: can you guys please stop flirting and go fold in mens? bad says if we fold everything we can leave early-

dream throws a bundle of socks at sapnap 

george wants to be on sales floor so bad, he complains about register everyday

dream wants to be on register since sales floor is boring to him

bad wont let them switch 

tommy, tubbo, and wilbur always start fights with george, dream, and sapnap

a ‘war’ broke out one night when they were closing

bad made them stay an extra two hours to refold the entire store since they trashed it

george once parkoured over a jean table

sapnap is always friendly to the customers and will ask them how theyre doing as soon as he sees them

scares the shit out the customers at the same time. he’s a ninja

tommy got out of the fitting room once and hid in a rack of dresses so bad couldn’t find him

bad just wants people to open up credit cards

sapnap would bring his girlfriend in a lot and now bad is considering hiring her since shes here so often

on their breaks, they will all sit in a circle and watch the cameras and make fun of people

they have a groupchat called “the navy soilders” and they literally just send the same video of dream falling off the ladder that george pulled from the cameras

okay so much is going on i wish i hadnt spoiled who certain characters actually are for myself but i have no one to blame but me for a) not blacklisting spoilers at all and b) just having a little freefall through the tags. oh well. anyway heavenly college admissions scandal except way worse. the corruption extends to the heavens and the windmaster is having a very bad day

im gonna keep it real im getting tired of how often we get told how handsome hua cheng is. i know its all xie lian’s pov and while im not terribly familiar with it i know what genre we’re working with and im assuming thats pretty typical. its something i dont much care for in general and idk maybe it sounds better in the original but ngl its starting to make me roll my eyes. love you goth king but god okay we get it.

i guess what i will say about hualian so far is that overall i like them and i like how they interact in general they have a lot of nice moments and they just genuinely seem to like each other which is really nice to see EXCEPT for when it actually comes to things that could be romantic or sexual which is a shame bc i dont think it has to be like this. again disclaimer that im only reading a translation and dont know everything might not have all the knowledge necessary to accurately criticize etc etc and im assuming a lot of this is expected from the genre (disclaimer to this disclaimer that i cant say that for sure its just based on things ive picked up about the bl genre over the years) but idk like xie lian was so distressed after their underwater kiss scene. it was kind of uncomfortable to read and maybe im being unfair i know his cultivation is based around abstinence or whatever but idk i dont care for it. and that scene alone doesnt have to be a bad thing like idk i guess its his first kiss ever (?) and it would make sense if he feels weird about it but i just have my doubts thats going to be addressed or resolved in a satisfying way. also im like. dude everyone is like centuries old. xie lian’s been on earth for 800 years. has he really never met or heard of a gay person during all this time? maybe he hasnt idk what he got up to yet maybe that’s actually a thing. also same thing with the reactions from the immortals to xie lian in a dress and characters like the windmaster like again you’re all centuries old and its not uncommon to be able to just completely change gender presentation. why are you all weird about a man wearing a woman’s dress? i just feel like that shouldnt be a big deal to these characters idk

also again not going to lie part of this that im not really a big fan of reading romance in general. yes i am reading this book. yes i do read and write a lot of fanfic that includes or centers romance. im multifaceted. but really what im talking about is the like physical side of it and descriptions im extremely picky about it. ill give an example. early on in the torture pit (or whatever it was called i cant remember lol) when xie lian kind of accidentally felt up hua cheng in the dark when he was being carried. i dont think thats a bad thing to have happen between the two romantic leads i think thats fine and good to include that early but i just did not enjoy reading it when it happened idk maybe it was the wording and i do think that moments like these work better in a visual medium. ive definitely read het romance that reads like this and i wasnt a fan of that either lol same with fanfic i get tired when writers go on and on about how hot one characters finds another character. this isnt a huge criticism of it like i said im picky but again like with the way that hua cheng is described it just makes me roll my eyes sorry kings

okay back to the reading. this whole saving the fishermen thing feels like a big set up for something narrative-wise. hua cheng specifically insisted on coming and i know one of the characters involved ends up dying im wondering if thats now it would be a good time tbh if things get just a bit too unfortunate during this heavenly calamity... and the brothers are notably not having a harmonious time... also tho it feels very likely we’ll just have another Hualian Moment (tm)

okay kiss #2 again its not the kisses themselves its xie lian’s reaction it just bothers me idk im not saying i need him to be super into it and completely unconflicted about it rn but he’s just so freaked out about it and idk i just dont really like it just feels weird i dont care for that aspect of it. also dude hua cheng is a ghost and he did this exact same thing for you before just chill. i wish instead of xie lian literally running away while screaming that hes sorry he was just like “oh haha youre fine thats cool im gonna go look around the woods i dont feel weird about this at all haha” like idk its kind of funny but when its literally our two romantic leads i just feel like its confusing like it kind of makes me feel like they shouldnt be together if one of them freaks out this much again considering the fact that they are both CENTURIES old. i know i know xie lian is an 800 year old virgin but. he hasn’t been like this about anything else so yeah idk like it still could have been awkward and funny i just dont think it needed to be so :/ that being said it was funny that xie lian was then internally like “oh i did it wrong? perhaps i should ask him for more.. instructions....” if that actually happens i might like it bc it would complete this little watery theme

I was writing a long af rant and it got erased fucking gods

Anyways, so in resume, there’s a guy I really like and most people at school know because we are very touchy and loving, like we literally grab hands when walking and he passes his arm through my shoulders when standing by my side. We are practically in a relationship at this point but both shy as fuckkkkk so we had not said anything about our feelings to each other until yesterday. But it didn’t went as well as i thought it would go so now im sad but also happy but also wanting to break the roof of how mad i am. 

The thing, his friend came to me and said “Look, you have always warned me when i might risk something and I appreciate you for that so I’ll try to help you too. I’m not saying I’m sure but I think Samuel is using you to get over this girl called Maria José. He liked her a lot and she got a bf so who knows, just be careful.”

Let me tell you, your girl panicked and was ready to go and kill him. But I realized that was stupid bcs we support communication in this house so instead I asked my wingman and his best friend about this girl. He said that yes Samuel liked her a lot but that since I came around he stopped completely mentioning her and that in general he didn’t find it likely because Samuel is not like that and that if he was, his mom would end him. 

I wasn’t happy with that answer so went and straightly asked the guy. 

We sat on a green grass spot because as you might guess, I was not happy with knowing all this and wanted at least to know what was happening, the convo went something like this. Me: Who’s Maria José? Him: Oh you find out Me: I did Him: She’s a pretty girl, as you are, tall Me, interrupting him: I know how she looks, she’s in my athleticism team. Are you playing with me? Him: Do you think i am? Genuinely? Me: No. Do you still like her? Him, silent for a second: I do, not much because the moments we talked was when she went in my bus, she doesn’t go there anymore so we barely talk. Do you like me? Me: I do. Do you like me? Him, GIVING ME THE MOST PRECIOUS GENUINE SMILE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY FREAKING LIFE UGHHHHHHHHH FUCK IT: I do, a lot, way more than her. What do you wanna do? Me: I’m not dating you right now, not until you’re 100% sure about me. I’m sorry to ask you this but I’m a number person and i work with numbers, in a percentage how’s the difference of your feelings for me and for her.  Him: 90% you 10% her Me: Thanks for being honest Him: I used to talk with her when you were not here you know, please don’t get mad Me: I’m not mad, you can have girl friends and i can have guy friends, I’m not asking you to completely stop talking to them, I just want to be sure that you only have eyes for me if we date.  Him, trying to hug me but i backed off: not even hugs? You didn’t say no to hugs today Me: I didn’t know about María José in that moment, you have lost some privileges until we date I’m sorry Him, gently grabbing my hand for a short time: It’s fine, I get it and we’ll work this.

While we have this convo we were already walking to the buses but something interrupted us, he said he would call me later because we both had to go and I just left to the bus. While I was going there his best friend intercepted me and was like “Don’t you worry, you’re 99% in, that 1% will be gone by Monday I fucking swear”, i nodded and left to the bus in which i wanted to cry but i didn’t bcs #WeDontCryBecauseOfMen

Arrived home, was absolutely wrecked for 5 hours and then I got the POV of my best friend that was with him before I asked him about the other girl and with my wingman and his best friend. 

my best friend:

his best friend said Samuel would be talking with me on Monday because we had to get this clear now that we both want to date at least in a future, but that I really shouldn’t worry because since day one he had known sooner or later we would date. He said the first day Samuel mentioned me he was like “I met this girl named xxxx xxxxxx and she’s very smart, the first girl that actually knows what she’s talking about when mentioning x topic”. 

Which is a lie because trust me, all my girl classmates have their very strong points on politics but whatever. 

Then Samuel called me, we talked normally until I told him that if he thought I was mad that that was wrong bcs i was not mad, just shocked. He said that he gets it and that we would talk on Monday because he preferred to get this clear face to face. Things went to another and we started talking about when we met, the convo went like this.

Me: Why did you talk to me in the first place Him: Don’t get mad Me: Why would i be mad Him: I got close to you because I thought you were pretty so basically whatever we have now only started because I was trying to flirt with you.  Me: Do you still find me pretty? Him: Prettier and also smart as hell, is hot the way you basically toy with me when I even mention chemistry or literature, in general any class Me: Good answer 

We hanged up, and now I’m more calm, my guy best friend from my old school says i shouldn’t worry bcs guys say they like girls just a little bit when they only wanted for their physics and that he was sure that he wanted me for more than that.

This is just really long lil headcanon since I’ve not finished writing any of my wips or gotten close to completion, I’m really sorry :(

infatuated hoshi x oblivious and conflicted reader (ft wingman jihoon)

so,, hoshi is known to be a bright ray of sunshine that dances amazingly and,,, well,,,, a bit of an unorganised student

the reason being, is that he’s so passionate about dancing and dedicates most of his free time practicing his free time including sleeping a full 8 hours

whenever he has class scheduled in the morning he wakes up late, phone in hand and bag on his shoulder as he runs out of his dorm screaming his head off

he only just makes it in time for class and when he sits down, he sets up his phone to record the lesson and falls asleep immediately

you know of hoshi, and vice versa, through mutual friends

you’ve met before and talked a bit, but you aren’t what would be considered close friends even though you both share the same music class

and as it turns out, his reputation precedes him as you idolise him for his creative choreography, undeniable talent and outgoing personality

you have also always wanted to be friends with him,,, but deep down, you feel like you’d like to be a bit more than just friends

you happen to sit beside him by chance one day and see him go about his routine but,,,

halfway though the class you notice his phone is running low on battery

so being the kind person you are, you sacrifice your own phone’s battery to save hoshi’s grades

and as if a curse has been lifted, hoshi wakes up once class is done and packs up to leave

but before he can, you take your chance to speak up “you’re actually pretty smart”

and hoshi is like ?? what do you mean???

so you explain “oh, I just never thought to record lessons”

and he’s,, kinda embarrassed but also pretty bashful at someone calling him smart

meanwhile you realise that you have no means of sharing the rest of the video that you took for him so you abruptly ask “by the way, what’s your phone number?”

and hoshi just,,, he’s shook to say the least like how sudden yet smooth was that??

and you quickly realise from his expression that,, oh,,, oh no,,,,, this is a BIG misunderstanding

“I just wANTED TO KNOW BC YOUR PHONE RAN OUT OF BATTERY AND I TOOK A VIDEO FOR THE REST OF THE LESSON FOR YOU-” but you stop before you embarrass yourself any further

,,, and you two just stand there awkwardly in silence for a while,,,

“I-I have something really important that I need to attend to s-so,, uh you could ask jihoon for my number, sorry”

you don’t know why, but you can’t help but feel dejected as you let out a quiet sure and watch him go

“that boy,, is so dumb”

is the first thing jihoon says after you finish telling him about the whole ordeal

“he’s so careless and im sorry that you had to do this for him”

“no it’s okay, I just thought that we could be friends if I did this”

and jihoon is like “friends?? I thought you were-” until he realises that oh,,, OH i get it now

and you’re like whatwhatwhat

but all jihoon says is “nothing~” before he tells you where to find hoshi if you want his number

and,, you frown bc you don’t want to be rejected again,,, especially in person,,, TWICE

instead, you say goodbye to jihoon as you go back to your dorm to study

a few hours later, you get a text from jihoon saying “i need some help with writing lyrics for my song. go to the recording room, ill be there in a bit.”

it’s weird and unlike him, but you comply and make your way there and see jihoon smiling brightly

“hey, thanks for coming here on short notice, but could you going into the recording booth? I need to see if this sounds good with the melody”

you agree, entering the dark room and, low and behold, it’s a confused hoshi staring back at your equally confused face

“hoshi?”

“he locked me in here”

then you hear a little familiar laugh as the door closes behind the two of you with a click and jihoon talking through the mic

“hey nerds, talk to each other and confess or whatever and I’ll let you out”

and hoshi lets out an awkward laugh “so uh this is weird, I’m sorry about jihoon I had no idea that he’d do something like this”

you want to brush off the apology and make a joke but you’re curious, too curious about what jihoon meant “what did he mean by confess?”

hoshi’s laughter quietens down as he starts to fiddle with his shirt and a light blush appears on his cheeks

“w-well, I kinda have a thing for you. I really admire you and your musical talent,,, m-maybe I admire you a bit too much”

and you’re like “oh wow,, I don’t know what to say” bc you’ve admired him from afar for such a long time and you’re unsure about your feelings

and suddenly hoshi has felt the same?????

“its okay, please don’t feel pressured, you don’t have to say anything.” so you don’t and just sit there until you speak up again

“I really respect you and your talent, and I don’t want to confuse my feelings with that”

and hoshi,,,, hoshi lets out a soft defeated oh then says “so do you have feelings for me or?”

“I’m not entirely sure” and it’s silent again

jihoon thinks that he may have messed up big time and is about to get up to unlock the door when,,, “how about we go on a date? just to help confirm your feelings?”

at first you’re shocked, caught off guard at hoshi’s sudden proposal, but you consider it “ok, one date but please don’t get your hopes up”

hoshi is ecstatic and jihoon is pleased with himself, finally letting the two of you out

“don’t forget to exchange numbers!” and you don’t but only thanks to jihoon

that night, hoshi texts you the details of your date for next week and your heart jumps a bit at the thought

the next few days hoshi greets you with a smile, sits next to you and goes to sleep during class

you never notice it but he actually looks really,,, adorable,, even with drool coming out of his mouth

the night before your date with hoshi, you’re panicking and need jihoon to calm you down

“he’s whipped, fifty dollars he’d genuinely compliment if you showed up covered in blood. also, why are you so worried about how you look if you don’t like him that way?”

“I never said I didn’t return his feelings, I was just confused”

“but now you’re sure?” you dont respond and instead look through your clothing for an outfit to wear when your friend advises you to go for a dress and heels

but once you meet with hoshi, you feel overdressed when he leads you to an arcade

though he assures you saying “it’s fine and you look beautiful” and making you blush

as the date progresses, you begin to have fun and learn more about hoshi

“I like dancing a lot, but I want to write my own songs, in fact jihoon has been helping write lyrics”

“is that how he lured you into the recording studio?”

“pFt what? no,,,,,,,,, yeah it was”

hoshi lead you to his favourite game, and surprise, it’s ddr

but what hoshi doesn’t know is that you’re beast at ddr and beat the renowned dancer at his own game,,, quite literally

“I think I’m in love”

“shut it kwon, we’re here to fight to the death”

“,,,,,, through the language of LOVE AKA DANCING”

it’s all fun and games until the clock hits 9 pm and you realise that you have a song to finish composing within two days

so, gentleman hoshi drapes his jacket over your shoulders and escorts you home

the walk is silent, not awkward and tense like before, but,,, comforting

“ive always wanted to be a dancer, nothing else ever really came to mind whenever someone asked what I wanted to be” hoshi’s voice is soft as he speaks

“everyone has always said that it’s not realistic, that it’s too competitive, that I might get hurt,,,” you continue to listen, his voice becoming croaky

“I’ve been told that the dancing is the only thing I know how to do and even im not considered good enough no matter how much I practice,,,

you hold his hand and squeeze it in reassurance ”,,, or that I’m not smart enough for any normal job and that’s why I chose dancing as my major"

“at first i envied how smart and talented you were so I tried to compete against you secretly, but over time, I began to realise that you weren’t competition, but someone I looked up to”

“you were one of the main reasons why I continued to dance, because you motivated and gave me the courage and strength to continue, thank you”

you’re too shocked and flustered at the revelations to notice that you’ve arrived as you absentmindedly watch hoshi walk away

you could turn around and go to your room,,,,, or,,, you could chase after hoshi right now at this very moment

you choose the latter, running in heels to catch up to hoshi

“oh my god, are you ok-”

“I was wrong”

when those words leave your mouth, hoshi believes that he has never felt so confused about anything until he met you

it’s your turn to be confused and surprised as hoshi takes your hand into his kisses you gently

(i actually have a really detailed backstory for him that im saving for a rainy day.) speaking of rainy days, he loves them. spot is very into that "treat your body like a temple thing". he does yoga. lifeguard. plays a lot of app games? like angry birds, temple run, etc. loves to read. depending on the au, he's either a law student or works in construction with jack. he's got some ptsd from Some Stuff That Happened Once. drives a big ass jeep with loud music, usually either rock or rap, blaring from the speakers. actually a really good rapper, but pretty much no one sees that. likes to read.

sarah

sarah is like 90% gay. she'll occasionally make out with a guy for fun, like with jack, but let's be real. when she decides to settle down, it's going to be with a lady. she and davey are twins. she's a botanist with a big interest in environmental conservation (science twins.) very sarcastic. she's the less compassionate twin.

specs

specs is nearly legally blind, but not quite there. he's a ridiculously slow driver. dad friend. bi. dancer at nyu. also plays baseball and the cello, and he's very athletic- he runs every day. specs is incredibly detail-oriented and responsible. also, he and jack are the oldest, and he's kind of jack's secret right hand man. a lot of people think it's race or crutchie before davey shows up, but no. it's actually specs, he just works in the wings. loves crime shows. he and romeo are really into the paranormal- like ghosts and stuff.

romeo

in my head, romeo is colombian, so i dont see him as any of the actors that played him. he's gay, but also ace, but flirts a lot just because he thinks it's fun. he and specs have been best friends forever (im not getting too into detail about that but keep reading my christmas au). romeo loves candy, and constantly has like, a bag of twizzlers or pixie sticks in his bag or something. he's really good at crafts, especially making friendship bracelets. like specs, loves the paranormal.

kath

kath has chronic migraines. she ids as queer. she wants to be a reporter, but has a very successful blog, as well. (like a long-form blog, not like tumblr) with a few thousand followers. very politically inclined, and she and elmer talk about politics a lot. she and jack dated for a while, and they had a legitimately good time, but things sometimes just dont work out, and thats what happened with them. kath also really loves youtubers and spends more time than she wants to admit watching makeup tutorials. her dad is pulitzer, but he and her mom never married, so her actual last name is plumber (her mom's maiden name) and she was raised by her and her stepdad, who she adores.

mush

okay so he's diabetic. (btw the mush fc i always have in my head is ephraim.) he's SUPER good with kids. like, they think he's an absolute superhero. he's really, really patient and tells really good stories. he's a big ol stoner. he and blink are best friends (sorry, i dont ship it!!) and he's quite a potty mouth. mush and blink are actually REALLY fratty. also, he plays guitar

albert

albo is colorblind. it gives him a variety of vision problems. albo is obsessed with cryptids: his favorite is bigfoot, and he's also very into aliens. favorite movies: space jam and the fast and the furious. albo is also dyslexic and adhd- he and jack bond over it. as a result, school really isnt his thing, and he just sort of wants to be a mechanic, because cars make sense to him and he loves them. then there's his whole backstory- two older brothers, one of whom is a marine, and then a half sister. his dad cheated on his mom and got the girlfriend pregnant, but he loves his sister a whole lot. albert likes to make a lot of jokes about his colorblindness. he is also pan or queer bc what is projecting, anyway? ummmmm................ he gets really frustrated by how he's treated because of his learning disabilities. he loves dogs and cities and loud noises. also, that boy is a mama’s boy

jack

jack has severe dyslexia, to the point where reading is EXTREMELY difficult and frustrating for him, so he just doesnt do it. he's also got adhd. he's an artist, but for his day job, he's a house painter. or sometimes just generally in construction, idk. i generally make him a painter. he does a lot of odd jobs. jack loves cartoons. his favorite show is bob's burgers. he also loves american ninja warrior. likes to think he's fearless but he's actually pretty scared of thunder. jack unironically loves nickelback

race

race is a future rocket scientist, obviously. his dream is to get people on mars. he's got severe adhd. he's constantly fidgeting, and his favorite fidget toys are tennis balls or rubiks cubes. ps he can solves a rubiks cube in under half a minute. loves the kardashians- especially khloe. used to do a lot of shoplifting, but grew out of it. scared of horses. not a huge fan of animals in general, actually. queer or pan. totally tells everyone that his favorite color is green, but it’s be real. it’s gold glitter. used to smoke like a chimney but quit, although it was a struggle. 

davey

gay. hecka gay. he realized that he was gay when he played soccer and realized that he didnt want to be the soccer player, he just WANTED the soccer player. loves animals but snakes especially. also really likes alligators? anxiety, but like, the kind of anxiety where if you try to talk to him, he'll get pissed. let him be alone. started as a business major for practicality but switched to zoology. RIDICULOUSLY sarcastic. very flirty. has had multiple relationships before jack. scared of heights. doesnt love horses, but he'll deal with them. loves lord of the rings more than almost anything. hates getting his hair wet. VERY good at mario kart. he used to speedrun it and at one point, he was 14th in the world. 

crutchie

okay so: crutchie's disability can be a few things, depending on  the universe im using, but i generally do it as either a degenerative disorder or a major injury that was never treated properly so it never healed. hates mornings. so much. terrible loser. will literally fight you if he loses. sarcastic. can be kind of an asshole. wants to be a runner. : ((( crutchie is THE best wingman. like, you’re trying to impress someone? call up the big leagues aka crutchie

elmer

sarcastic motherfucker. news junkie. super skeptical. questions everything. trouble with his eyesight. he's the kind of guy who replays arguments in his head thinking up comebacks he should have used. he'll text you at 3 am like "AND ANOTHER THING"
