just learnt today- some people cant stand going to the bathroom without their phones??? like thats absurd- you go there to do your fucking business, not scroll through insta while half naked.
or also eating, like you havent willingly sat down with your family or friends without devices and just talked in the past 6 months??? hello?? a 12 year old (my siblings) can do that shit and grown adults cant???
or hairdressers. i was given a smock thing with arm holes so that people can use their phones- dont you want to see how the person is cutting your hair and how they really are talented in their chosen field???
and this is especially present in gen alpha apparently- the generation millennials are raising. the ipad kid generation.
though i am definitely agreeing that new research/better evaluation is a big reason there are so many neurodivergent people now, i also now am starting to think that lower attention span in kids is because of devices, who were just handed them and told to do whatever. constant scrolling makes it easy to click away from things that dont interest you, so that can then transfer into schoolwork.
my friend also has a horror story like this- she was walking to a class when a 4 grader (approx 9-10 yrs old) stopped her and started talking to her about pornhub. EXCUSE ME??? WHO LET THIS KID SEE THAT SHIT???
we're all getting addicted to our phones, but honestly, at least i can sit through a 20 minute bus ride to school without using/even just using my phone, and not constantly thinking about using it.

TW: accident and blood
Yesterday I saw a family at a shopping mall who let their kid run around like a animal. He ran and collide with a man who was about to go up some stairs, causing the man to trip. Both he and the kid fell onto the staircase. The poor man injured his face and had blood streaming down from one of his eye while the kid hit his head and started bawling.
All this could have been avoided if those parents taught that kid not to simply run around. This kind of irresponsibility sickens and infuriates me.

While I absolutely love the " Battinson has no idea what to do with a kid beside love it with everything in him, and Alfred sighs in Competent Guardian" trope, I offer you:
Alfred watching Bruce make sure Dick has a curfew, getting involved with school activities like bake sales and and art projects, goes to the doctor regularly, has playdates and actual social life, all Responsible Parent Things he most definitely Did Not Do:

i feel like if aftg were real and after andrew goes pro there would definitely be twitter threads with people being like "why you shouldn't support andrew minyard:" and the first post would be something like "he threatened a waiter" or "he called my wife a bitch when we were at a bar" etc etc i just think andrew would definitely be one of those celebrities that so many people have horror stories about

Dear Antis, stop blaming proshippers for the "problematic" content that children may read or be """exposed""" to, maybe... just maybe, you should actually focus on parents.
Where the hell are kid's parents?!
The parents are the irresponsible ones for not taking good care of their children and supervise them as they should, not the writers because a child found their fic, JUST saying...

it’s so funny to me that wu didn’t even give them training weapons, he just gave those kids real weapons with supernatural powers and left them unsupervised for long periods of time and expected them not to be extremely dead when he came back

I love how each member of the east blue saga strawhats (except usopp) thinks they’re the parent of the group who’s holding everything together.
like, nami and luffy both think they’re the mom.
zoro thinks he’s the dad.
sanji could think he’s the mom or the dad imo (probably both).
(usopp’s perfectly content just being the chaos child who never does as he’s told and fibs all the time.)
but at the end of the day they’re all a bunch of dumb goofballs who don’t know what’s going on but they keep on trucking anyways

arrgghghg....Sasha and Grime both starting the series as bullies who were used to getting their way and pushing people around and initially only bringing out the worst in each other and seeing each other as a means to an end...but then growing to genuinely care for each other and going through so much together and receiving several wake up calls that they should improve their behavior...culminating in a scene where Sasha throws herself at Darcy because she wants to do the right thing and Grime throws himself in front of Darcy because he wants to protect Sasha....yeah I’m normal about this

As I rewatch bits of the first three Volumes (due to reasons), the more I think about Blake, her motivations, etc, the less I understand why they thought it was a good idea to give her two functioning, alive, good-natured, influential/royalty parents.
Like, I REALLY doubt they had wanted Blake to be some rich faux-activist girl whose whole worldview gets disproven and whose most notable dialogue lines end up retroactively sounding outright nonsensical.
Like, what was the train of thought on flipping her entire character upside down like this beyond "Oh, all other RWBY members have messed up parent issues, so let's give her happy, healthy parents"? Was there even a train of thought?
Or did they just invent her parents on the spot because they had no idea where Blake would have gone after V3 ended and had to make up an entire unimportant-side-journey she could be stashed away in for a while (and also wanted to throw her into a subplot with Sun to counter-balance all the Yang stuff because the show was still hellbent on queerbaiting so they had to find a way to place Sun into a situation where he gets hurt for Blake so it's not just Yang as her motivation)?

there is just something so satisfying about these big strong superheros finding a child with angst problems and then by canon choice or fandom force becoming a paternal/family figure for said child and then that superhero is willing to go to war at a PTA meeting for their brooding child

I'm watching Bluey for the first time and I'm just. Fucking speechless. Like I knew the show was good but I genuinely didn't expect it to be as amazing as it is. Like nothing's perfect but Bluey is as close as it gets. I have so many thoughts about this show but the main one I have right now is...
Bandit and Chilli are shown to consistently and actively play with their kids. WHAT OTHER MEDIA HAS EVER SHOWN THIS?? PLEASE THEY ARE SUCH GOOD PARENTS. THIS SHOW IS ONE GIANT GUIDE ON HOW TO BE A GOOD PARENT. T-T

I came home to this message today:
Tumblr media
It says: "We just happened to see a pigeon fly into your open window (the small bathroom one). Signed, your neighbours from the third floor."
"5:30 pm. There are two of them now and they're clearly building a nest."
We had been aware of the pigeons. They have been trying to get into the little window that lets fresh air into the small bathroom for weeks now. One of them actually managed to wreak havoc in there (threw some cleaning utensils off a shelf), so the window had to remain closed mist of the time. Today we had forgotten about it (very excited about ikea hot dogs) and they immediately went for it.
They did indeed "build" a "nest". Here it is:
Tumblr media
The work of two proud idiots parents.
Pictured: Lurking genius.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I decided there were three options: 1. Throw it in the trash. 2. Tiny omelette. 3. Construct a nest for them somewhere else, where they'll hopefully find it.
My girlfriend didn't like options 1 and 2, so I climbed into the vent and retrieved the egg and the three pathetic sticks and started constructing my first pigeon nest:
Tumblr media
This is what I produced. It's right next to the window where they built their illegal house, so we're hoping they'll be able to recognise their poor little egg.
