Ayo heard you want horny brainrots well I (🦝) have been summoned.
I don't know what your preferences are. Men, women, both, neither but personally I would fuck just about anything that is off age and willing so that being said
I absolutely adore Beidou. She is so fucking hot. She's powerful, strong willed, breathtakingly gorgeous and overall just step on me, captain I am actually begging. On top of that, she wields a claymore, the back amd shoulder muscle she must have? On God?? Yes, MA'AM.
Realistically she probably has a bunch of scars and a sun tan and overall I think Beidou might be the hottest woman in all of Genshin. Genshin has many hot women but no one surpasses her. My queen. My goddess. My love. My main since day ONE. (that's a lie but she was in fact the forst character I pulled)
Alright I'm going to take my brain and wring it out like a wet towel to give you some more asks. Cya in the next one
✿ 𝙮𝙤𝙪, 𝙢𝙮 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 ♡︎
characters: beidou x gn! reader
warnings: fluff, angst, there will be nsfw but it’s not as wild as my other posts, both reader and beidou are switch, cute domestic shits, kazuha being y’alls adopted son (kinda)
notes: 🦝anon, my beloved, i have already made it clear that i’m a raging bisexual so yes, women♥️. women, men, sexy human look alike puppets with god and inferiority complex, idc gimme them all! went with head cannons format with this one i hope you don’t mind. also i’m so sorry my beloved 🦝 anon, i took so long to answer😭😭
Tumblr media
aahhh yes beidou
i’m pretty sure everyone took one look at her and went “i’m sat”
and yes 🦝 anon she would have the muscles, sun tan i mean come on she stays out in the sea for as long as she wants, scars and damn did i mention muscles whew it’s getting hot in here
absolutely would spoil tf out of you
jewels, foods, all kinds of trinkets from the places she’s been to before
and if you were to talk it out with her and won’t get seasick easily, she won’t hesitate to ask you to come with her on her ship alongside the crux
after basically adopting kazuha, you two would almost become his pseudo parents in a sense
beidou is the fun carefree mom while you are the parent that frets over him as if he’s a baby
and everytime she sees you scolding kazuha over the smallest of things such as scratching his pretty face she won’t hesitate to tease you in all kinds of ways
general nicknames would be “darling” “your highness”(teasingly) “my treasure”
“[NAME]! MY TREASURE! GUESS WHO CLAPPED THE BIG NOBUSHI GUYS’ ASSES BAREHANDED!”
“OH MY ARCHONS BEIDOU YOU’RE BLEEDING!!!”
if you were to ever kiss her scars or wounds while treating her she would just melt
“ahaha… oh darling, what did i ever do to deserve you?”
due to her past of being hated by the village she was taken in, sometimes beidou would have a very horrific and detailed nightmares or thoughts of you leaving her because she is ‘cursed’
would hate to burden you but will gently stir you awake to ask for cuddles and kisses
“i-i’m sorry, treasure. i-i just… please? hold me?”
please don’t degrade her even as a joke
since you’re someone so dear to her heart, even if she were to laugh it off as a joke on the outside, she would be thinking all sorts of bad thoughts on the inside
i feel like she would give the best hugs and piggyback rides
if you’re both walking around and you’re getting tired or wounded, she won’t hesitate to squat down in front you or carry you bridal style
is so so incredibly gentle with you
she knows she’s strong, she knows she’s powerful i mean she struck down haishan, the leviathan while visionless
and due to that knowledge she’s afraid she might accidentally hurt you in some way, even when she knows you’re not some fragile doll
Tumblr media
i can’t really see her being a sub honestly
i feel like she would be either a switch or a soft dom
is into face-sitting and i cannot stress this enough
whether it’s you sitting on her face with your juices gushing and squelching, your legs trembling to hold yourself up she won’t stop until she’s satisfied
“shh it’s okay darlin’ you’re doing sooo good. come on sit on my face, i wouldn’t mind and you know that”
or her sitting on your face as she grinds her slicky pussy into your mouth while moaning and calling you a good girl/boy as she grips your hair
it doesn’t matter which one it is, she’ll take it
will overstimulate you but in the gentlest way you get what i’m saying?
“aww there there. come on you can cum again. you can cum again right darlin’? yes you can treasure. come on cum for me. you can do it”
or it’s you absolutely worshipping every inch of her body
“haaangg~ oh yes, that’s it. keep mmggff! keep going. ah yeah, you’re making me feel so good treasure~”
sex with her would generally be very soft, slow and filled with praises
aftercare would be you two cuddling together after cleaning each other up and just talking of small topics like today’s weather, the next destination, which destination to go to next etc etc
just,,,, beidou🥹🫶

What are your favorite things about fire rain? Also I’m devouring your fire rain design I love it so much it’s so pretty and creative I love it and ily 💚💚
Fire ghoul rain timeline headcanons I think because it just means I can develop his backstory?
CW: ghoul backstory shenanigans, general angst I stuff, murder/violence/self-hate vocab may be present, not aiming for triggering but I want everyone to be able to feel safe reading it so just watch out! Happy ending tho :3
Fire ghoul Rain would be violent and agile, I think.
When rain gets summoned as water ghoul he and dew get along easily, dew would be supposed to pass down his position to him, they are both aware of their situation and dew pleads to rain to let him bite the bullet.
"I'm older, I've been here longer, I can take it-" cries dew.
"if I don't turn into fire myself they'll burn me to ashes, lilypad"
"there has to be a way.. Rain, fuck!... please??" Cries dew again...
Rain would betray dew I think, put him to bed, swear nothing will happen ever, that they'll never separate them, or hurt them, until dew hears the screams in the middle of the night. The heat emanating from the stone and wood feels dry and hot... almost debilitating, but still everyone makes it down to him, and there in the middle the still small, long frame of the once water ghoul, writhing in pain, his fins and gills actively burning out, suturing at the core, engraving the scars into his skin. He cries and screams. There is a blue glow surrounding him, and then an orange red hue, which at this hour, the ghouls cannot tell if it's coming from the early rising sun, or from the hellfire itself, burning inside their packmate.
The recovery period is spent with dew... who refuses to let go of his mate, as much as rain pushes him away at times and struggles to communicate with the little water ghoul.
And Dew is angry. Rising like a riptide, he flicks his hair and gives him the pout™ and rain feels the guilt consume inside him. Dew rants away, condescendingly, disapproving. It's the only way he knows to show his worry.. his own guilt... the disappointment. And rain takes it because he knows deep down he deserves every minute of it. It was a calculated risk and he took it on purpose, and he forgives and forgets, and he holds dew right in his arms placing his forehead just behind dewdrop's jawline... and for a minute, he cannot stop the tears.
And Dew sees him... understands him. just like dew will forever be his lilypad, rain, will always be his rain. Dew is that last bit of water he can cling onto in a desert of fire and pain.
At first the powers are terrible... he burns himself constantly, he lives on the infirmary for the most part, between aether, mountain and dew, making sure his skin doesn't fall off. Ifrit tries to help... teaching him, guiding him and it sometimes works... then there's alpha... alpha who will not take his eyes off dewdrop, who will not shut his mouth about the pretty little water thing he is... and it boils everyone's blood, and rain knows the way mist scolds alpha for running his mouth, the way he tires every time she steps in front of him to stop his bullshit, and he knows... as a water Ghoul he could only do so much as mist did. But as a fire ghoul?
As a fire ghoul alpha would also make stupid condescending comments about his lack of control, his weakness, the way his body rejected itself... it's elements... how pathetic it was of him to not even naturally have fire. As a fire ghoul, Rain could prove alpha wrong, as a fire ghoul rain could step in and let alpha pick on someone his own element... and thought smaller in size... stronger in fire.
Rain is violent, and quick. Anyone who dares look at Dew in the wrong way gets a hiss directly to the face from Rain. The quick protective motion, bait and switch. Pushing the smaller ghoul behind him, lighting himself up like a wall of flame between the danger and its target. And it burns, just the cold dead stare of the turned fire ghoul through the hissing. The threat is not that rain will attack, he is small and lanky still. The real threat is that he cannot hurt anymore than his body already hurts itself the fire burns so hot that even rain cannot feel it... that he no longer has warmth to lose with death, he does not fear. And he is willing to put everything on the line for dew, so a hiss is usually all it takes for any ghoul to know their place near dew and with rain.
He is ruthless and cold, despite his element.
And still every day, hour, minute, and second is a struggle. His body hates itself, his mind fights him, his past haunts him, his future quivers before him. And his pack all has thoughts and feelings they'll never end or speak up. And it will always be uncertain how things would've gone for him if they had found other ways, other outs... but why dwell in the past, when the only certainty is that his one promise to dew, that they'll never be apart again, remains kept.
Have mercy I proofread once and it's 4 am as I'm writing this... on the queue we go...

The Lion’s Den
It wasn’t the tallest building in the small desert town but judging by the way A’viloh stared at it, it seemed to be the place they were looking for. Little did Rael know that being summoned here usually had meant someone was in trouble back when A’viloh had still lived here. It was either Laqa and the boys getting scolded for being reckless or playing tricks on the girls or A’vi for letting them or for his bad training progress.
To Rael it was just a round single floored house of surprisingly small size with a little domed tower on top, some canopies and braziers at the entrance. It was made out of bricks of different size and color and here and there someone had sporadically added ornaments but it was otherwise almost plain compared to Rael's expectations. Rael had imagined something less ordinary, something with more grandeur. Something that matched their idea of a rude condescending patriarch who thought his opinion the only one of importance. Of course now they realized that none of that would have made sense for a tiny desert town and that this was probably all the luxury they could afford.
As Rael and A’viloh walked into the nunh‘s room, U’odh remained silent at first. Attentively he eyed them, like a predator observing his prey waiting for the right moment to strike, not betraying the fact that he recognised the red-haired Miqo’te the very second he had stepped through the door.
Rael greeted him friendly, a courtesy U’odh didn’t seem willing to return. “State your business, adventurers.”, he demanded instead and sized them up before fixing his arrogant gaze on A'vi.
A’viloh put on a stubborn face. “Wheiskaet send us. I assume you were informed of our visit.“
Suddenly the older Miqo’te burst into laughter. “So you are the one Wheiskaet sends me? You claim to be the slayer of Ifrit? The sun at Costa del Sol really must have hurt his brain if Wheiskaet believes such nonsense!“
The sudden gale of laughter unsettled A’viloh. Uncertainly he stared at U’odh, just like the nunh seemed to have expected.
“We were send to retrieve Wellwick Worm Flesh for Wheiskaet.“, Rael spoke up, ignoring U‘odh‘s barbed remark. “We were told that you could help us with this.“
“I could indeed.“, the nunh said slowly, ignoring Rael and keeping his piercing eyes fixed on A‘viloh. “But I‘d sooner help one of those squids they have at Costa del Sol. They certainly have more backbone than you and will more likely get the job done…“
Rael didn’t like to be treated as if they weren’t there, but hearing him speak about A’viloh in such fashion they liked even less. “Is this how you treat guests here?“, they insisted angrily. “What would Wheiskaet say if he knew how you speak to us.“
Sharply U‘odh turned to the Viera. „You are no guests! And I haven’t the foggiest what Wheiskaet sees in you.“, he hissed. “And until I do, you will receive no aid from me.“
His words seemed final. But neither Rael not A’viloh intended to give up so easily. A’viloh tried his best to look brave und unmoved, he feared that his voice would betray him but he spoke up anyway. “It is true, I am the one who killed Ifrit. And I will not leave until you grant us permission to hunt Wellwick Worms in your territory.“
“You say you killed the Amalj’aa‘s fire-god? Maybe in your dreams, whelp!“ Once again U’odh laughed loudly as if someone just said something particularly funny. “Let me test you then. As you know, the Children of the Sands do not offer aid to strangers. To do so is a sign of weakness. A mistake I am not going to repeat on you twice… However, if you were recognised as a skilled hunter in your own right, it would be permissible to assist you.“
“Fine.“, A’viloh said defiantly and without second thought, feeling anger rise up in him. “Show me your test then.“
The nunh stepped across the room and retrieved something from a corner, where it had rested against the wall.
“Here, take this“, U’odh said and offered A‘viloh a spear, which he took reluctantly, not quite understanding yet what it meant.
“Do you know what this is?“, U‘odh asked. “Do you recognise the symbol atached to the spearhead?“
A‘viloh observed the carved piece of bone and with shock realised what it was that he held in his hand. “That’s Tanadd Gah‘s symbol?!“
“Who's that?“, Rael asked and tried to see what about the spear had suddenly scared the Miqo’te so much that he looked like he wanted to drop it at the spot.
Silently A’viloh whispered. “The band of Amaj’aa that murdered my family…“
“That’s right.“, U’odh said slowly oberserving A'viloh's reaction. “This is your one and only chance to prove to me if you really grew stronger or if you’re still the weak and scared whelp you used to be."
A'viloh didn't even dare to twitch but Rael wanted to strangle the man at the spot. Instead they just furiously glowered at the older Miqo’te. He had chosen this task with the clear intention to hurt. For a second Rael was tempted to throw this hurt right back at him and tell him the whole truth, but they had promised U‘tykha not to mention Laqa unless his father asked about him.
With an indifferent look U'odh pointed to a map on the table. "Tanadd Gha‘s encampment lies to the east across the desert. He‘s a renowned warrior both for his strenght and his guile. To even face him in battle, you must first find a way to lure him away from the encampment. This is your test: Draw out and defeat the murderer of your parents. For this, I will offer you no advice - only this worn spear. But if you are as strong and clever as you claim to be, Slayer of Ifrit, I‘m sure you’ll solve this riddle in no time. Return to me with Tanadd Gha's necklace as proof of your victory - or don’t return at all.“

Midnight chatter
Yandere Diluc x gn!knight!reader
Wordcount: 2385
CW: Yandere, drugging, kidnapping
This was a third week after his return and fifth day of the tireless fight with winery work, when Diluc received an unexpected guest. During his travels across the world, the winery business fell into disrepair and almost collapsed, so once he learnt the state of the wine industry he decided to settle in his office and try to battle the endless reports about necessary expenses and small profits all on his own.
He started to work with the first rays of sunlight well into the night, squeezing every bit of energy his body had, not only because financial issues could affect him personally, but also because of the night vigilante of Mondstadt title he took upon himself.Due to the increased workload he couldn’t find time to patrol the dark streets and alleys of the city, while experience and conscience didn’t allow him to thrust the safety of ordinary citizens into the hands of bumbling, cowardly and lazy knights.
The day soon turned into the late evening, and dawn winery workers started to go home, when someone knocked on his door. It was Adelinde.
Her steps were faster than usual, her stoic face shadowed by the note of concern. Diluc wanted to say that no, he won’t go and have a rest, but she spoke first.
“Master Diluc”, she stopped before his desk: “we have a guest, a knight”.
He lifted his head shifting the eyes from the report to the head maid and pondered - despite his long absence, a lot of people in the city had a general idea how much he dislikes the Favonius Order and so a rare knight would actually dare to bother him, unless… Unless, they were acting out an order from someone high-ranking, like Jean or Varka for example.
Apprehension that his former colleague somehow learned of his nightly escapades sent an unexpected wave of shivers and vague feeling of unease, but he didn’t let it get to him.
“Ask why this knight is here and if it’s something unofficial tell them to leave”, he ordered, at which Adelinde blinked, slowly and tiredly, as if she was looking for the strength to tell something incredibly upsetting or scary.
“The thing is, master Diluc, that I already let them in”.
“Without my permission?”, his eyes widened at that, and the heart started to pick up the pace. What if this knight was really sent here by Varka or Jean? If it was true, Adelinde, unknowingly set him up to fail.
She was looking after him from his earliest childhood, so she was allowed to do and say more than any other of his staff, yet this perceived audacity was unheard of before.
“They were badly injured and said that they needed to stop for the night and once it’s over they will travel to the city with the first sun rays. We helped them to patch up their injuries and offered a room for guests, yet they declined and remained to sit on sofa”, the maid explained absolutely unfazed, after noticing Diluc’s dissatisfaction and then added : “If you are that displeased, master Diluc, I can tell this tired and battered knight to get out from here into the dark night”.
Her voice remained even and emotionless as usual, but even like that young Ragnvindr could hear a light mocking in her words. And to think about it - he got so freaked out over some silly coincidence - the knight stopped here because of the injuries, not some insidious scheme.
“Alright”, Diluc admitted defeat: “they can stay… and offer them some food and tea”, he added just as Adelinde’s hand touched the doorknob.
“Will be done”, she replied before exiting the office. The corners of her mouth slightly moved and crept upwards.
***
Despite his earlier goal of finishing as much work as he can, Diluc couldn’t do anything. Small digits and letters started to float and dance before his eyes while the long lines fused together, when he tried to analyze the state of wine business in naught. But the worst thing was the fact that his thoughts strayed to the topic of mystery knight again and again and Diluc lost count how many times he caught himself thinking who this person is.
He sat like that for a while, until the cinnabar of dying sky got replaced by the darkness and pleasant chill of the night.
Diluc scolded himself for his uncharacteristic indecisiveness, standing up from the desk and locking the office, when this thought, loud and persisting, knocked into his head again. Wouldn’t it be nice, he wondered, to learn who this night is, and finally decided. After all the thoughts about them pestered him for a long time.
Quietly and carefully walking through the unlit corridor of the winery, he confirmed that all servants and workers had already left for sleep, some into the rooms of the main building designated for them, some into the cabins around it. All in all, he was confident that there’s no one except him, the knight, Adelinde and a couple of other maids.
His steps were quiet and slow and not even a single board in the wooden floor creaked under his weight as he knew the winery like the back of his hand. With a bated breath he made his way downstairs, making out vague shapes of the familiar objects. Moonlight pouring out through the windows illuminated only the silhouettes, but even with that he quickly noticed the unknown frame.
The person was half-sitting half-lying on the sofa, and their sword and armor were placed nearby the furniture, reflecting the pale light of the moon. They weren’t moving, seemingly asleep. Diluc couldn’t make out their face even after making a coming closer, so he decided to take the risk and summoned a small wisp of flame.
The dancing light illuminated everything in a small radius and what he saw made him jolt and take a step back. You were the mystery knight.
Why are you still a knight? Where were you? Who injured you?
Still shocked by the previous revelation, Diluc accidentally knocked over the breastplate with his foot and it fell on it’s side with a loud thump.
You woke up.
“What… Who?”, you stirred and half sat on the elbow: “Ah, it’s you” and saw him :”What are you doing here?”.
Caught red handed, Diluc didn’t find any words - it was so sudden and unusual to be caught unaware, and because of that doubly unpleasant.
“This is my winery and I am free to do whatever I want”, he decided to hide the awkwardness behind the faux annoyance.
“Easy, easy” you half smiled, half yawned: “I just managed to fall asleep”. You yawned again and blinked at him with sleepy tired eyes.
“I have sleep medicine if you want some”
You got surprised and touched by his sudden responsiveness: “Thank you, but I think painkillers would be better. My body is aching and that’s the main problem”.
Maybe because of the trembling, dancing light or maybe because of the recent sleep you imagined worry and pity twisting his facial features.
“I have it too. Wait here”, he quickly replied and vanished into the dim darkness of the winery, not giving you any time to answer, as you were left to sit and wait for him. Diluc, to your own surprise, happened to be extremely stealthy, able to move without producing a single sound.
“Here”, you first heard and then saw him,as Diluc used pyro vision to light the nearby candlestick and then opened the medicine vial he brought and handed it to you: “Drink it all”.
“Thank you”, you whispered to him, taking the painkiller before making a big gulp. The taste was horrible, so horrible in fact that you almost immediately started to violently cough. Well, if it’s as effective as foul, then I will be good as new in no time, you thought to yourself, suppressing the urge to throw up.
Diluc stood nearby and observed your reaction, his hand extended on his own when the coughing started as he awkwardly tried to pat your back in the gesture of comfort. “I will be here with you until you fall asleep”, he stated once the fit stopped and then, seeing your highly raised brows explained further: “Painkiller takes time to work. Tell me if you won’t feel better”.
You nodded in response, and closed eyes, listening to the sensations of your body. Your injuries still burned and screamed and throbbed, yet a strange numb sensation started to slowly surround you. Just like Diluc said, medicine would need time to fully settle in.
“If you're here can you talk with me?”, you decided to shorten the time in conversation: “Ijust wanted to talk with you. For a really long time”.
“About what?”, he allowed himself a shadow of the smile, Diluc that you used to know peeking through the gloomy facade, like a long awaited sun or it’s reflection on the tranquil mirror of the water surface. Next words stuck in your throat, bitter and acidic and totally unfit, and you had to force them out through your own hesitance to destroy this calm.
“What happened that day? The day before you left. I asked Jean and Kaeya and other knights who were present with you, yet no one said anything”, the water surface bubbled and the visage of that old, sunny Ragnvindr shattered into thousand pieces. The person before you adopted the same cold facade of annoyance and indifference.
“Why do you need to know it?”, he answered the question with another question and you sensed barely buried hurt and grief.
“You leaving hurt. A lot”
“That’s why you are still a knight?”, you quickly nodded at that.
A minute passed by and he still stood, without saying a single word, thinking what to do. On one hand, he didn;t want to open up, the story of his eighteenth birthday was incredibly painful and personal experience to be shared so freely, on the other hand he yearned for your understanding.
"Alright", he broke the silence:"Let's make a deal, you answer my questions and I'll tell you the whole story after. Deal?"
"Deal".
Diluc looked at you again, looked at the bruises and cuts, still peeking through the bandages and for a second his mind lit up with one thought alone: what disgusting bastard did that to you. He suppressed the rapidly rising rage, deciding to start from the most important.
"Is my leave the only reason why you decided to stay?" his heart picks up the pace again, he needs to know the answer.
"Basically yes, you knownI didn’t do it for my parents… I just.. That tragedy, I know it's not my place, but… I always wanted what happened to you. I asked this question to myself everyday and night, and I missed you terribly".
His breath hitched and he lowered his gaze. For some reason you always managed to fluster him with the words alone, even if it wasn't your intention.
"Your parents must be happy", h e changed the topic, stifling the heat in his heart.
"Yeah, they're ecstatic that I stopped being difficult and made their aspirations real. Hm, do you have any other questions?"
"What happened to you? ",he pointed at the bandages covering most of your body.
"Ah, catching treasure hoarders does that to you, usual stuff", you dismissed his concerns and Diluc started seeing red from the way your voice remained so calm and unbothered. Usual stuff? Usual stuff?!
"Grandmaster could send anyone else", he snapped:"Favonius Order has more than plenty of vision holders, they should've sent one, instead of you! You could die!".
Diluc’s sudden explosion left you speechless, but soon your own weaved words of irritation:"Ordo Favonius doesn't consist of Jean and Kaeya only. We can't let them handle all the hard and dangerous business all the time. Ordinary people like me can still help, even if the gods didn’t favour us. Don't think of me as some helpless idiot just because I have no shiny vision to show off"
Your heated response seemed to work and Diluc turned red from embarrassment, realizing how annoyed you got, despite the worry for your health and still present anger at the other knights for letting you get hurt. He also didn’t like how you looked at him, reprimanding and disappointed.
"Alright, sorry", he cleared his throat:"where were you before? I haven't seen you anywhere"
"City gates aren't the only thing that needs guarding. I was sent to the Liyue border, to make sure that no treasure gang crosses it. I think I will get sent there again, once I fully recover".
Diluc got angry at that too, yet this time he suppressed unpleasant feelings, already knowing how you will rebuke and reprimand him again. There's no convincing to be done, as you won't change your opinion. You left him no choice for what he was going to do.
"Alright, you answered all my questions", he said before changing topic again:"Did painkillers start working? I have another".
Being so engrossed in the conversation you forgot about the ache, yet once he mentioned it your body started to hurt with a renewed strength.
"Yes, I would like one", you decided and Diluc vanished in the unlit hall yet again.
"Here", he handed the small bottle to you already opened. The new substance was different, sweet and viscous. You managed to take two sips before your eyelids started to feel up with lead, and soon even lifting a hand seemed like a highly arduous task. Whatever the thing that Diluc gave you wasn't a painkiller.
"What…", you uttered, before your body relaxed and you fell asleep once again. Diluc bent over, looming over your unconscious form, as his hands carefully took the bottle away. He didn’t want it to somehow fall and injure you
This is a necessary measure, Diluc assured himself, before making a plan of actions. He would need to fake your disappearance and forge enough leads to direct investigation into the completely opposite direction, but now he needed to wake Adelinde up and ask her to prepare the room in the basement. He didn't want you to be uncomfortable in your new home.

Hello! It's nice to see a new genshin impact writer! I saw requests are open, and there's two I have in mind (if it's ok with you): One is for Razor, Albedo, Xiao, and ganyu (possibly Aether if you can) wherein Reader is scared of love. Like, they're scared of opening up and love someone in fear of rejection or being tossed away. But yet they still daydream having someone who'd love them making it more obvious how much they want to love despite their fears anyway--
With this information, how will they confess to Reader about their feelings? Or comfort/console them?
Tumblr media
𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆: albedo, xiao, ganyu, (separate) x gn!reader
𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒: reader has a pyro vision, albedo and xiao story spoilers in their parts
𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒: srry for cutting some characters off!! the character limit is 3! (but personally i would write for aether hehe hes so cute i love him)
Tumblr media
you just so happened to have a quest in dragonspine
you did not expect to see fatui—especially not fight them
and... you did not expect to get ganged up on! what is this? a bully session? what the heck?
Among the brawn and burly figures of the Fatui members, you didn’t fail to notice a streak of blonde and dazzling blue from a distance—your eyes widening as you prayed to whatever archon would dare to listen...
Please, please don’t be another stupid enemy. You thought with a grimace, your heart pounding in your chest as you could hear a voice—it was calm yet strong, like a endless waterfall or a river creek.
“Burst forth!”
In a matter of seconds, a geo flower emerged from the earth, your form being lifted up on the tiny platform as shards of crystallized rock formed under you, nearly stabbing you in the gut.
Who? What? How? Who was this stranger? This vision-wielder?
Wasting no time, you plummeted down on a nearby Fatui—deeming this geo-user as ‘safe’, you summoned your own flames, charring the crystal snow black as you wrapped your arm around the blonde, barely taking any time to observe his features.
from then on, you never expected to grow close to this mystery man
turns out he was the chief alchemist of the knights! you weren’t personally associated with the knights... but being chief alchemist certainly was a grand title, right?
with the use of your pyro vision, you helped accompany—albedo—you learned his name was
at first, the two of you were just exploration buddies. but as time went on, butterflies began to form in your stomach, nervousness seemed to peak when he was around
love was like a poison—you knew it’d hurt, you knew it’d kill you to have a drop—
but you wanted it. you wanted love, you wanted to be held by albedo and to twirl his silky hair around your fingers...
but—would he want you?
You wanted to love Albedo so badly.
Yet you knew, you couldn’t. The alchemist just wasn’t the type for love, he was not the type to give kisses or reassurances, nor was he the type to confess with a rose in his hands.
It wouldn’t hurt to dream, though.
The thoughts you had before you slept were of him, of how pretty his eyes were—you couldn’t even pinpoint a color for it. Sometimes, they were blue, sometimes, they were teal.
With every shooting star that’d zip past the sky, every eyelash that’d fall and every fire that’d be lit with the palm of your hands... you hoped for a love. A love so grand it’d outshine the sun, a love so grand it could make you forget the past and undo the pain of before.
But, in the depths of your mind, in the wings of the butterflies that’d flutter in your stomach... you knew—
Albedo did not love you.
albedo initially thought of you as a torch lighter.
LOOK, HE IS A LOGICAL AND RESOURCEFUL MAN. he does not see the world with a rosie-colored-lens like how many others do—he sees it as the facts
and with your pyro vision? combined with dragonspine, ooh, please... ain’t that a match lighter?
but as time went on, he started to see you in a new light
you were knowledgeable, you respected his views and even contributed sometimes! you were no prodigy of alchemy, of course, but you were well-versed in combat and oftentimes knew how to navigate dragonspine
(he asked you how you knew dragonspine so well. all you told him was “Pain”)
but... albedo is observant. he’s definitely aware of your feelings and nervousness, how you get overly sweaty near him and fumble on your words
it’s then he realizes—he likes you too
love is a foreign concept to him, uncharted territory and an unexplored region. of course, as an alchemist, it is up to him to discover the unknown
and love—love is unknown
how could one possibly dedicate their entire life to another? albedo always questioned this notion, for humans were free beings that wanted nothing more than to break free of their shackles
and yet—the moment the alchemist met you? all of those questions flew out of the window
he wished... he wished to love you. but to him, it looks as if you do not want to love him
It’s frustrating, really.
How Albedo would brush over your hand mindlessly, how he’d hand you an object and let your fingertips meet for two seconds too many, how his cold yet soft lips would curve into a smile upon seeing you return from your endeavors.
Why? Why? Why? Why did he do this? Was he aware of the way he made you go crazy?
You wanted to love him, so so bad—but—
“[Y/N],” Albedo’s voice seemed to pierce through your thoughts as if he had heard them.
“Y-Yes?” You turned immediately, the rush of your heart not calming a bit, the nervousness of your leg that bounced up and down as a remedy that you wish didn’t have to be so obvious.
Averting his eyes from yours, you missed the pixie blush that dusted the tip of his ears. He was not aware of your insecurities—but he was aware of one thing.
That—that he liked you... a lot, in fact.
“Recently...” Albedo started, clearing his throat anxiously before continuing, “I have started to develop some... feelings, for you. It is okay if you do not reciprocate, but it feels wrong to think about you in such a light when you are not awa—“
“Yes!”
You winced.
And then, everything seemed to crumble. Was he talking about someone else? Was there someone behind you? Was this a mindless prank? As it had been all those years ag—
A hand rested on your cheek, bringing you back to reality with the mere touch of his fingers.
albedo... in all of his intelligent prowess... was not expecting for you to say yes
in the public, he is a genius— a prince, a prodigy, even. but to him, he is but a failed student who is trying his best in completing his master’s final orders:
find the meaning of life
what is life? life is broad, life is different, life is... well, life.
at first, albedo had assumed that his master was talking about living life, as in plants or animals.
but now—with you, with klee, with mondstadt, with everyone.
the chief alchemist seemed to realize:
life, life was in you.
life brought joy, laughter, pain, excitement, happiness—
and sometimes, even love
“But Albedo I—“
“It’s okay, [Y/N]. Though I am not personally aware of what seems to be troubling you, I will do everything in my power to assure that you feel comfortable with me.”
Life was short, Albedo noted.
So—he wants to enjoy it.
—With you.
Tumblr media
xiao does not fear rejection, but he does fear love
how pitiful... for a guardian yaksha such as him to fear such a trivial matter
love—love was scary. love could take control of him like how he was manipulated in the archon war, love could tug his arms and move him around like a puppet
he, adeptus xiao, did not want to love
but then, you came in. and it frustrated him tremendously. you were but a mere mortal, a fleeting life that came into his eternal one. you were someone who he did not deserve
and yet, he loved you
so much, so so so much, he can’t bear it. he can take on all those karmic binds, all those whispers and hatred—yet he cannot bear the love he feels for you. he cannot bear the way his heart races or leaps whenever he sees you, he cannot bear you
but—his heart does not like the fact that you feel the same
you had told him before, one night, a few months ago... you told him how you were afraid of love
you were afraid of getting tossed away, of being forgotten like the fallen archons in war, like a side character in a play of fontaine
and all xiao could do was scoff. whoever dared to throw you away would meet his spear, his rage. he could not fathom a world where you were hated, where anyone would dare to reject you—because, because—
you were his world, regrettably
Pacing up the stairs of Wangshu Inn, you ignored the gross feeling of your clothes sticking to your skin.
“[Y/N].”
Jolting up, your eyes met with that of the Guardian Yaksha—his piercing gaze and unwavering strength eyeing you down as if you were a pest.
“You’re going to get sick. Your mortal body cannot withstand such weather,” Xiao scolded, and on cue, a flash of light zipped through the air, the deep rumble of thunder following soon after.
Observing the way you flinched at the noise, Xiao merely wrapped an arm around your waist, teleporting you to the top of the inn and into your room.
“Dry up. I will return with soup,” The adeptus waved off your nervous gaze. He was not stupid, he has seen mortals succumb to sickness, and he hopes that you will not be one of them.
but as he heads to the kitchen, he cannot help but notice—notice the fact that you seemed to be... uneasy around him
was it something he said? was he perhaps too harsh with you? you of all people should know his words mean well, though...
and ugh, here it is again. the feeling of love that made even him overthink the smallest of things
yet after he brought you some soup and got you into bed, the question still ran around his mind like a halo. did you hate him? was this sickness bringing out your true thoughts?
well, yes and no
“Xiao...” You quietly murmured, wincing as the winds picked up inside your room, materializing a certain Yaksha out of thin air.
“What?”
“I’m sorry...”
“...?”
Rushing up to you, Xiao immediately placed a hand on your forehead, worried that you were on the brink of death.
“I’m sorry for liking you.”
“... What?” His eyes widened in disbelief, in shock. Sorry? Why were you sorry? Did you regret liking him? Was that why—
“I know...” You trailed off, in a drunken state of sickness, “That you don’t love me. But that’s okay. I just... wanted to let you know... because I’m afraid you’ll say no... but if you say no, I can at least move on...”
Staring at you fiercely, his breath hitched in his throat. No? No? He would never say no to you, ever, ever.
“Don’t move on,” Was all he could muster.
Don’t. He wasn’t ready for love, no, he never was—but—
He did not want you to leave.
This action of sickness was finally a catalyst, a catalyst for Xiao to confess to you properly when you were in the right state of mind.
And hopefully—when he does, you will say yes.
xiao only confesses because he does not want to lose you
his karmic binds, the whispers, the screams. he does not want you to get tainted by them—so he is selfish, he is selfish for loving you and confessing to you... but he, he cannot bear to see you go
a double-edged sword, love is. it stabs his heart, skewering it as if it were nothing. it plunges his mind, clouding his thoughts as they fill with you and only you
can’t he just indulge in this fluffy feeling, once?
no—he doesn’t deserve it, he doesn’t deserve you.
Under the rising stars and floating lanterns, the two of you sit. It is an unspoken love, you both share, it is an unwritten rule that paints the back of your minds like a canvas of colors.
But love—is love. Love is the rainbow that forms in the sky when the rain is over, love is the sun that shines, washing away all of the coldness of the world.
Love is you.
Tumblr media
ganyu feels... alone
so when you come into her life like a prospering glaze lily, she wants nothing more than to love you!
but you, confuse her. she is 100% sure you return her feelings, so why do you not seem to be... excited, about it?
To an immortal like Ganyu—love changes. At first, love was for the world, but then it shifted for mankind, and then it moved to... you.
She was no strange to love, in fact, she welcomed it! Ganyu wants to feel as mortal as possible, so when you stumble in and make her fumble for words—she knows she has fallen.
Like a meteor or a person—she falls for you. Everything reminds her of you, every flower and every bird makes her want to talk to you and spend her time with you.
But lately—you have been quite... reserved.
at first, ganyu thinks she is the problem. that she has done something wrong and she is a terrible crush
but then, she hears rumors. rumors about your past loves and how they rejected you mercilessly, how they played you like a marinette doll and caused you pain
to ganyu—that is the lowest any mortal could ever go. but for now, that is not her problem. she wants to help you, to make you realize that you are deserving of love and that you—you make her feel love
she—of course, does not confront you about this directly. ganyu is far too experienced to bring up past conflicts
but, she will subtly make you realize her feelings. with morning and night walks around liyue harbor, with hangouts and ‘dates’ at liuli pavilion...
love... it’s quite beautiful, isn’t it?
“Ah, the food here is certainly marvelous,” Ganyu gushed, enjoying a nice plate of jade parcels as you spared a smile.
“Yes, thank you for this, Ganyu. I know you work a lot and—“
“Of course, [Y/N]. Everyone needs breaks,” The woman returned your kind gesture, eyes crinkling in amusement as your heart pounded so loudly in your chest.
“In all honesty, [Y/N]. I feel quite a connection to you, and though I am aware you are hesitant— I just wanted to let you know that you are loved... by many people, not only me,” Ganyu rested her chopsticks down, making complete eye contact with you as her blue hair framed her face. The black and red horns that adorned her head glimmered—the kindness and delicate features of her nose and lips, her eyes and smile—
Your breath hitched.
ganyu—of course— does not expect an answer right away!
in fact, she thinks it’s quite unorthodox to confess to someone who is afraid of love—but her instincts told her it was right
it was abrupt, she knows. you don’t have to say yes, she knows.
but still, love was a game of chance—just as gambling, betting, anything. love was a game for two
so she took it. she took the chance, hoping that maybe you, you’d say yes.
“I...” You trailed off. You didn’t know Ganyu returned your feelings, neither did you ever imagine she could... Ganyu was half-adeptus, a caliber above you and your mortal-ness! Why would she ever think of you as anything more tha—
“Do not be afraid, [Y/N],” Ganyu’s voice was gentle as she soothed you. She had been here before, she had seen you cry out of a yearning for something you couldn’t have, she had seen your heart shatter and your mindset retract.
“I... like you too,” You responded, you felt light-headed, like you were soaring in the clouds that not even Celestia could bring you down.
Love, love was a gamble. And sometimes, you’d get your heart broken, your soul broken...
But love—it wasn’t so bad after all.

As all horrible things do, it starts out with a peaceful moment.
The day, when it begins, is humid and hot, the promise of storm is prominent in the air.
But for now, it's just a promise, and Levi allows himself not to worry. The large tree hides him in its shadow, the grass providing a soft pillow for his body, and Hange is pressed against him, her fingers writing the secrets of universe on his skin.
She murmurs something to him, too soft for Levi to catch. He means to ask her to repeat it, but then his eyes meet hers, and the honey brown of her irises entrances him so much that everything else flies out of his head. He thinks of making love to her right there and then, with the sun as their witness. That douche Apollo would certainly like it...
His lewd plans must have reflected on his face, because Hange shakes her head and tuts, "Levi, Levi... You don't listen to me. What if I was going to say something important?"
"Everything you say is important."
It slips out of his lips unprompted, unexpected. Levi blames in on the sun. Apollo, that deceiving bastard, must have loosen his tongue.
Hange widens her eyes and her mouth falls open in an expression of pure wonder as though Levi has done something incredible.
"Oh, Levi," she whispers, her voice softer than the wind.
She props herself on her elbows to raise up and get closer to him. There is a smile on her face, one that tells him that Hange is going to kiss him. One that promises that the kiss is going to be full of passion, sweetness and love.
Hange hovers just above him, only inches separating their lips. Levi waits for her to shorten that distance, and just before Hange does...
Someone behind them clears their throat. Levi and Hange abruptly turn around, staring at their intruder. Due to the scorching sun and the promise of that kiss that haven't been fulfilled, it takes Levi a long moment to recognise who has disturbed them.
As soon as he does, he hurries to hide Hange behind his back, protecting her with his body.
The god's messenger - Hermes - laughs and takes a step forward. Levi tenses, pushing Hange back just a little further. He doesn't trust gods, never did. And he has a damn good reason for that.
The messenger stays silent for a lengthy moment, and Levi starts to hope - maybe, it's just a mistake. Maybe, he'll leave them alone. The hope grows and grows until-
Until Hange opens her mouth.
"Did Apollo get jealous of our quiet afternoon? Does he wish to join?"
The joke is ill-timed, ill-advised and all around terrible. Levi should have scolded Hange. Instead he snorts alongside her.
Hermes doesn't bat an eye. He doesn't even glance at Hange, as though Levi is the only one here. Perhaps he should feel relieved that Hange is supposedly sparred from god's anger for one deed or another. However, he feels a slight irritation at the apparent disregard for her person.
"Levi," the god speaks. "You have been summoned to the Mount Olympus. Come with me and I'll take you there."
The words spoken surprise him, but Levi doesn't let it show on his face.
"No," he says resolutely. "I have no business with gods."
"You have now."
Something in Levi snaps at the indifferent tone of the messenger's voice. He means to raise up, to come closer to him, but Hange holds him back, her touch both reassuring and calming.
"What do you want from Levi?" she asks, and Hermes shoots her nothing more than a quick, uninterested glance.
"It doesn't concern you."
Levi's anger boils to a frightening point. God or no god, Levi won't let anyone treat Hange like that.
"Whatever concerns me, concerns Hange too. So answer her question, or leave and don't come back."
"And why did I even bother..." Hermes mutters.
He raises his hand, snaps his finger and- and Levi starts falling.
When he opens his eyes, the peaceful afternoon, the scorching sun, Hange's warm body - it's all gone. What he has now is a cold, marble floor and dozen pairs of eyes staring down at him from giant, grand thrones.
Instinctively, he reaches out for Hange only to find that both of his hands are bound.
"Hange-" everything else dies on his tongue, when he sees Hange with two men restraining her. Levi furiously fights against his bounds, desperate to get to her, to make sure she is safe and unharmed.
Hange meets his eyes and shakes her head. Calm down, I'm fine, her gaze tells him, don't do anything stupid.
Levi wants to do something stupid so badly, he wants to free himself and hurt those who dared to lay hands on his Hange. He wants to unleash his anger and destroy everything and everyone here, leaving nothing behind.
But it's not a shady tavern, Levi reminds himself. It's a Pantheon, and one should never anger gods. It was the first lesson Levi's childhood taught him.
That lesson is the one he would never forget, so more for Hange's sake than his own, he forces himself to forget about his anger. He turns to look straight ahead and nearly chokes as he comes face to face with him.
He saw that man only twice in his life, back when he was no more than a skinny brat. Levi thought him a mere human back then, not an almighty god, the king of kings.
He didn't change since since then - the same lushious brown hair, the same piercing green eyes, the same infuriating smirk.
All this time Levi thought that the man who killed his mother was a wealthy merchant or an influential politician. A powerful, yet simple mortal. Turns out, his mother's murderer is Zeus himself.
But reverence before god's might and fear of their punishment doesn't ease Levi's anger. The desire to hurt the man in front of him only grows.
"Kneel," someone behind him urges, but Levi only raises his chin in defiance. He would rather visit the Underworld and stay there than kneel before that scum.
"Kneel," they demand again. Levi stays unmoving. He stares at his so called father with all fury in the world. If Zeus is really his his father, if he is really a son of the king of gods himself, then if he glares hard enough, maybe, the bastard will go up in flames. Maybe, the lightining will strike him or-
The pained grunt interrupts Levi. He looks to his left to see Hange- his Hange lying on a floor with her face pressed to cold marble and a man standing above her, his foot on her back. Levi wants to rage, wants to kick and scream and tear the man who dared to touch her to pieces.
But it will do him no good. It will do Hange no good, so he surrenders.
He gets down on one knee and bows his head - not in reverence, but to hide his burning eyes.
His father laughs. "Welcome to my palace, son. How do you like it?"
I don't, Levi wants to say, but they have Hange. And her wellbeing is more important than his petty anger.
"It's marvelous, all songs don't do it justice," Hange's voice rings. Levi turns to her with wide eyes, even now, bound and overpowered, she tries to protect him. "Is there a reason you were gracious enough to invite us here, my lord?"
"A fierce one," his father chuckles approvingly. He raises his hand, waves it and Hange starts to scream. "But not very smart. Mortals have no right to speak up in this place."
Levi's vision clouds with specks of violent red. His hands are shaking with anger and rage, he desperately wants to-
Hange catches his eye and subtly shakes her head. I'll be fine, my love, she wordlessly tells him, hush and don't fret.
Levi tries his best to do as Hange says. He raises his head and meets his father's eyes.
"Why did you call me up here?" keeping his voice straight and calm takes a considerate effort, but Levi does his best. For Hange.
"My son," the allfather's voice carries around the large chamber. "I have a job for you. The Titans have risen up in power. They seek to have my place, to take what it's rightfully mine. I need you to destroy them for me."
Destroy... Titans? Even the notion of it was ridiculous. Do gods have no one else that'd be more suited for this job?
"I'm not strong enough for this mission," he says. "Find someone more powerful than me."
"You're my son," Zeus' eyes flash with anger. "There is no one more powerful and skillful than you. You will do this for me, Levi. Or..."
His father shifts his gaze to Hange, a smirk pulling on his lips. "Or I'll do to your lover the same thing I did to your mother. And the child that grows inside her will suffer an even more horrible fate."
A child? Levi's heart falls. He slowly turns to Hange, but she seems just as bewildered by this. She looks down to her stomach, then back up at Levi. Her eyes fill with understanding, and then - they start to fill with rebelious fire. Hange is not afraid, but that feeling has always been unknown to her.
Levi, on the other hand, is afraid. He is terrified for Hange, for their child, but he doesn't let fear get to his head.
If his father insists on him fulfilling this mission, Levi will submit. On his own conditions.
"I see you've already saw the reason," Zeus smiles. "My son, with time you'll realize what an honor I've bestowed upon you. You will be sung about in songs, you will be remembered and praised for the rest of your life."
Levi wants to scoff, as if he desires to have any of it. His only wish is to have a peaceful life with his Hange and their child, without any gods or deities interfering.
"And if you're so worried about succeeding, I'll give you the means to defeat every foe. You'll receive my lightining bolts..."
"No," Levi says. "You will give them to Hange."
His father laughs again. "Until you defeat my enemies, son, your lover stays with me."
A shudder runs through Levi at the thought of leaving Hange behind with him. The memories of his mother's corpse flash through his mind, and straighten his resolve.
"Hange will come with me, or I won't go at all."
The lightening cackles in the air.
"Are you trying to bargain with me, boy? Don't anger me, or your lover..."
"Lift a finger in her direction, and you'll have to look for another child of yours. I may not be able defeat you, father," he spits the word like a curse. "And every other god that will want to stop me, but hurt Hange and I will certainly try. You need me to defeat Titans for you, and I need Hange with me."
Somewhere behind Levi, the lightening strikes, the thunderous ripples reverberating through the marble floor and walls. Levi doesn't flinch.
His father nods, as though he is impressed. "You clearly are my son. you're just as fiery. I wanted to keep your lover safe, but be it as you wish, the mortal will go with you. I should warn you, however, the journey won't be an easy one."
"Hange is strong. And without her, I'm ten times weaker."
Zeus waves his hand at the soldiers that hold Hange. They release her, and Levi instantly reaches out, firmly grasping her hand. Already, he feels that much calmer.
"You have nine moons to finish your mission, my son. If the child of that mortal is born and the nine Titans still don't meet their end, I'll take the child and kill your lover. I'll be watching your journey. And I hope you won't disappoint me."
Levi can barely nod, before the world around him changes again.
He's back in their little garden once more, and as soon as he catches his footing, he pulls Hange to him and holds her in his arms.
He inhales the sweet scent of hers, his whole body trembling. Apologies want to tumble from his mouth, but Hange interrupts his laments with a low laughter.
"So your father is Zeus himself? I should be more careful while making love to you from now on... What if I make you feel so good, you'd start blasting lightening from fingertips?"
It's just like Hange to find a joke in everything. Levi can't help but chuckle along with her.
"Maybe, it'll knock some sense into you..."
"You've knocked me up already, my love," Hange giggles, and Levi wants to kick her. He also wants to bury himself in her embrace and stay there for all eternity.
"That's all you've got to say?" he takes a step back to glance into her sparkling eyes. "What about my father? Aren't you surprised?"
"My love," Hange cups his cheek, leaving a ghost of a kiss on his lips. "Why must I be surprised? I always knew you were special."
***
It takes them a whole month to track the first Titan.
He is huge, bigger that Levi could ever imagine, but he’s also old and barely able to move when they find him.
Levi slices his neck and marvels at how easy it was. Hange runs up to him as soon as the Titan disappears and gives him a kiss that makes him weak in the knees.
She gives him a wide smile when they separate, and Levi smiles right back.
One Titan out of nine is defeated, and Hange didn’t even have to get involved. That gives them more than enough reason to celebrate, and they do it under the stars near the glistering lake.
Hange punctuates every kiss with a sweet praise and soft confession. When Levi is near his peak, she draws back and curves her lips in a tantalizing smirk.
“Careful now, my love,” she teases, while Levi can’t do nothing but huff and grunt at her. “Don’t kill me with your lightening…”
“I won’t if you do the job right,” he shoots back, pulling Hange down for another kiss.
She laughs as he nibbles at her jaw and lets Levi flip them around, wrapping her arms around his neck.
“If I die in your arms, Levi,” she whispers. “I’d shame the gods themselves with my happiness.”
***
Their next victim is harder to defeat. He’s not so big, but he seems younger. When Levi approaches, his blade already drawn, the creature grows mad with rage.
Levi gestures for Hange to stay back, and she does.
Up until the Titan launches his first attack.
Levi docks but not to evade the Titan’s massive arm. Hange starts throwing the lightning bolts they got from Zeus, aiming them with breathtaking precision. The creature roars, as one of the bolts hits him right in his eyes.
“Levi, go!” Hange shouts, and he doesn’t waste another second. He cuts the Titan’s legs and waits for him to fall. When he inevitably does, Levi is already there, right next to his nape. He slashes it without hesitation.
Hange lets out a joyous cry, launching herself on Levi. “We did it, again!” she happily laughs.
“I told you to stay back,” Levi scolds her, but Hange just keeps laughing.
“But, my love, you know me. I hate staying out of action.”
***
That night, when they make love in a small clearing in a dark forest, Hange doesn’t praise him.
Instead, she goes on and on, complimenting herself.
“You’re so lucky, Levi,” she husks as her hands roams his chest. “To have a lover as gifted as me. My aim is as precise as Artemis’, my wits are sharper than Athena’s swords, my beauty can rival Aphrodite’s…”
The gods always listen, and what Hange says will undoubtedly anger them all. But Levi is high on their victory, high on their love, so he doesn’t care about it now.
He throws his head back, when Hange moves her hands from his chest to his stomach and then even lower. He moans when Hange grabs him and whispers, “And your ego is as big as Ares’.”
The pleasure Hange was giving him disappears.
“I am as gifted as gods,” Hange straddles his hips and pins his hands above his head. She licks her lips, her eyes flashing, as she revels in his quiet whimper. “And my punishment can be just as severe…”
Levi is absolutely spent when Hange takes mercy on him. She curls around him, and watches his attempts to catch his breath with a wicked smile.
If this is the kind of punishment he’ll keep receiving, Levi is ready to defy gods every waking moment of his life.
***
"This one is different," Hange whispers in his ear as together they observe the Titan's movements. "The skin is..."
"Weird," Levi finishes for her.
Weird is not colorful enough to describe this Titan. Where the other looked vaguely human-like, this one does not. Its skin is too white and its body too long. The mouth doesn't look normal too.
"Be careful," Hange warns, when Levi pushes himself off the rock they've been leaning against.
"Don't intervene," he shoots back.
Hange grins and doesn't even give him a courtesy of promising to stay out of it. With her trusty bolts, she starts running towards the Titan, an excited cry tearing from her lips. Levi curses andhurries after her.
Together they defeat the Titan in mere minutes, despite its many abnormalities.
Later that evening, they go to the nearest town and buy grapes and bread. Hange demands to buy wine but Levi points to her stomach, and she stops arguing right after that.
Hange isn't showing yet, barely two and a half moons have passed since the child was apparently conceived, but she's been growing moodier with each day and she often complains about the ache in her back.
"That's your fault, Zeus' descendent," she huffs as she tries to get comfortable around him. "You tricked, seduced and dishonored me in the most terrible fashion."
Levi rolls his eyes and doesn't point out that it was Hange who bewitched and seduced him. And she never had any honor or shame to begin with. He just pulls her closer and pops a grape into her mouth. Hange smiles as she tastes the sweet fruit.
"Although I have to admit," she says after she swallows it. "I didn't imagine that Zeus is you father."
"Who did you expect it to be then?"
"Don't know," Hange shrugs. "Hades, maybe? Both of you have the same dark and wicked scowl."
His scowl can get too dark, but it's certainly not wicked... But for now, Levi wants to know something else.
"How did you guess I wasn't mortal?"
"Well," Hange flicks hair out of her face and opens her mouth, asking Levi for another grape. With a sigh, he complies. Hange gives him a grateful smile and continues. "Sometimes you pick up stuff that should be too heavy for you. And sometimes you move too fast for me to follow. But more importantly..."
"Yes?"
"You're too handsome to be a mere mortal. And when you make love to me, it feels absolutely divine..."
Hange laughs and Levi scoffs. He leans closer and kisses her laughter away.
"If there was a god of stupidity, Hange,” he whispers against her lips. “You'd be their child."
***
The fourth Titan they encounter is the strongest one yet.
It's different from all others, its fur covered body and long ears more beast-like than human.
"I don't like that one at all," Hange mutters and Levi silently agrees. Just looking at that Titan makes him wish that he had left Hange back home, where she and their child would be safe.
But Hange isn't at home, and Levi likes to think that she is safer here with him than with his father and the rest of his kind on Mount Olympus.
"Looks like a monkey," he mutters. "A really ugly one," he adds just to make Hange laugh.
"We can't all be beauties like you," she slings an arm over his shoulder and presses a kiss to his cheek. "Good luck, Levi."
Hange means to move away, but Levi doesn't let her. He catches her hand and brings her back to him, pulling her to his chest. Something is wrong with that Titan, something about him... makes his throat constrict with fear.
"Hange," he breathes all air out of his chest and fills it with her sweet scent. He doesn't ask her to stay back, knows it's pointless, but that horrible feeling inside, the fear and almost certainty that something will go wrong... it forces Levi to embrace Hange just a little bit tighter.
"I'll be alright, my love," Hange whispers. "We both will be."
Of course, they will – how could they not? Levi is a son of Zeus, and Hange is brighter and more brilliant than any other mortal or deity.
They will be alright, he keeps repeating it in his head as he starts running to the Titan.
Something is definitely wrong with that Titan, because when Levi approaches, the giant creature smiles. It smiles and then looks away, turning— turning to Hange.
Levi’s heart stops.
The Titan lowers his enormous, clawed hand, and before Levi can move, before Levi can find it in himself to breathe, the beast snatches Hange up in the air.
Levi doesn’t remember what happens next, doesn’t register his next moves. His vision fills up with red and his chest is heavy with rage.
He sees nothing but blood, blood, blood. He is covered in it when the Titan crushes down and Levi catches Hange up in his hands.
He falls to the ground with her, pulling her on top of him. It is only when he hears Hange’s heartbeat, his own finally starts up again.
He breathes in deeply – once, then twice, and when the trembling in his hands ceases, he lowers Hange down and methodically checks her, looking for wounds and injuries.
“I’m fine, I’m fine,” she keeps repeating, but she is not. There is a long and deep scratch on her leg and bruises all over her forearms and chest. Her stomach seems unharmed, but Levi still presses his ear to it and prays he hears something there.
“It’s still there,” Hange gently brushes his hair. “It’s still there, I can feel it. We’re alright, my love. All three of us.”
He leaves a tender kiss there and thanks his yet unborn child for being so strong. He then picks Hange up and carries her to the nearby stream. Hange protests and tries to kick him, but Levi just holds her tighter. After what has just happened, after what he’s just felt, he just wants for Hange to be close, needs to feel her warmth and know that she’s still with him.
He cleans her wounds by the stream and dresses every injury with a great deal care.
“Levi?” Hange asks, when later that day they sit by the fire. Levi is curled around Hange, and he kisses her shoulder to tell him he’s listening. “That Titan...”
Levi’s blood boils just at the mention of that beast. His mind flashes with memories of Hange in its arms, there up in the air. For the first time in his life, Levi thanks his unhuman instincts. If he came just a second later…
“I think he was sentient, Levi. Not like an animal, but almost like… almost like human.”
The tone of her voice, the almost defeated notes he can hear in it, Levi doesn’t like where this is going.
“What if they’re not mindless beasts like we’ve been told they are? What if they’re just like us?”
“Hange…” he says, a gentle precaution.
But Hange perseveres. “He didn’t attack you, but decided to go for me. He ignored you, even though you’ve posed a bigger threat, because he recognized that I was your weakness. Animals can’t be so smart. Only humans are.”
Levi sighs. He can’t bring himself to say it out loud yet, but he agrees with Hange. There is something more to the Titans that they’ve been told. There is something more to the Titans that his father has shared.
“The next Titan we meet…” Hange turns to look at him, her eyes pleading. “Can we observe them a bit more? Maybe…”
“Maybe,” Levi echoes. He presses his forehead against Hange’s and promises, “Next time we’ll do it your way.”
***
Hange’s belly grows in the time it takes them to find their next Titan. If situation had been any different, Levi would have been adamant about her staying back, but he promised her they’d get to the bottom of this together.
And he intends to keep that promise until…
Until they locate their target. And realize that they’re dealing with not one, but three Titans.
Images of Hange’s body flying around like a ragdoll still wake him up in the middle of the night with a hoarse scream on his lips, and it was just one Titan. Levi doesn’t want to know what will happen if they’ll fight three of them. He turns to Hange, intent on making her sit this one out, but then Hange points her finger, forcing him to follow its direction.
When he does, Levi sees the three Titans. Who are running in the opposite direction from them.
“Let’s catch up with them!” Hange urges.
Despite carrying a child for almost six moons, Hange gets on a horse surprisingly easy. She waits for Levi to get behind her before spurting the horse in pursuit.
It takes them a better part of an hour to get close to the Titans. When they do, Levi jumps from a horse and starts to approach the giants. He makes sure that his steps are slow and measured, as unthreatening as possible. But just as gets close enough, the Titans turn from defence to offence.
The one in the middle - the one that looks like he's covered in armor - steps forward and raises his arm.
"I don't want to hurt you!" Levi shouts, but this only spurs the creature on.
Before he can crush Levi with his might, Hange jumps right in front of the Titan, her arms spread wide.
"Please, stop!" she yells, frantically moving her arms up and down. "We just want to talk, we mean no harm!"
The Titans exchange looks between each other, before the one with blonde hair nods her head.
"We will listen," she says. "But you have to lay down your weapons first."
Hange grins, looking at Levi with a childish wonder. She grabs his blade and throws it out before approaching the three giants.
"So," she takes her time to study each of them, her grin growing wider and wider. She rubs her hands when she finishes, looking almost feral in her excitement. "I have a plan."
***
Hange's plan is ridiculous, risky and possibly not worth the effort. But Hange charms the Titans with her passionate words, and then turns to Levi with a smile that has charmed him all these years ago. She has all of them convinced in less than an hour.
"If you were humans before, you can be turned back again," Hange says like it's that easy.
"If there is a way to do it, we don't know how," the tallest and largest one replies.
"But if there is someone who knows..." the one with armor around his body begins uncertainly.
The one with a blonde hair sighs. "If there is someone who knows, it can only be her. Give me your map, I'll show you where to find her."
"Well," Hange meets Levi's eyes and winks, absolutely radiant in her briliance. "That's already a start."
***
That her turns out to be another Titan. Unlike the others of her kind, she walks on all fours and looks like an ugly, hairless dog. Her companion is even worse - with large jaw and disproportionate body, he simply looks awful.
"Try to be nice, Levi," Hange chides, when he shares his observation with her. "They're possible allies."
Levi doesn't completely understand what's the point of all of this, but he always trusts Hange, and this time is no exception. He follows her to meet these new Titans.
Surprisingly, they listen to Hange patiently, at least, the one resembling a dog does.
But when Hange finishes, she shakes her head, sadness and remorse reflecting in her giant eyes.
"The curse turned us into this. And we can be turned back only by the person who did this to us."
"And who is it?" Levi asks, although he feels like he already knows an answer.
"Zeus," another Titan replies. "You came to finish what he started, didn't you? I can smell his stench all over you."
"He ordered us to come," Hange agrees, her voice placating. "But we do not wish to follow through with his order. Perhaps, if there was another way..."
"With you on our side..." Titans stare at each other, seemingly holding a silent conversation. Whatever decision they come to, it is in Levi and Hange's favor. "Perhaps, we can truly find another way."
***
It takes them two more moons to formulate their plan.
As they go over details again and again, the sky above them grows heavier and darker, and Levi feels lightening in the air. It's not a storm, not yet, but it is worryingly close enough.
As the weather continues to worsen, Hange's stomach continues to grow. The baby's kicks grow so strong, even Levi can feel them now - he delights in it every time he does.
By the time they're finished with the plan, Hange is already too late in her term. Going without her is out of question, Levi doesn't want to leave her alone and he doesn't wish to do this without his better half. They all agree to wait until the baby is born.
On the day their child feels like it's ready to see the world, the storm starts in earnest. The wind flies around and the sky is completely black with only flashes of lightening illuminating it all.
Hange's screams mix with thunder, and Levi holds her hand throughout it all, trying to soothe her pain with gentle touches and kisses.
When the baby finally arrives, it takes his breath away.
She is absolutely beautiful because she is unmistakably theirs.
Levi smiles when he sees a patch of black hair, and his heart swells, when the baby opens her eyes and he sees the familiar honey brown.
Just as she opens her eyes, she starts screaming and kicking, and Levi thinks 'yes... this is definitely Hange's child.'
They don't have the time to pepper her sweet rosy cheeks with kisses, marvel at her beauty or get tired of her wailing.
The storm grows stronger, and Levi knows that he is waiting.
They put the child in a small crib Levi made just days ago and they tuck her in, stopping just for a second to stare at her in awe.
"Take care of her for us," Hange asks their allies. They all give her a nod and position their large bodies protectively around the crib. "Thank you," she smiles. "We promise to take care of you too."
As soon as these words leave her mouth, the ground below them disappears. Levi takes Hange's hand in his at the very last moment.
He keeps holding it as they return to a marble throne room.
The guards try to separate them just as they did the last time, but Levi doesn't let them. He glares at them defiently and holds Hange close to him.
"My son," his father begins with a false sweetness in his voice. "Your time is up, your child is born. Then why the Titans continue to live?"
"I thought you could help us with that, father. It is your curse that had created them after all. Lift it and their threat will cease to exist."
"It's not what we had agreed upon."
"But it's a much easier way."
Zeus' eyes flash with fury, the lightening dancers around his fingers. "Do you dare to defy me?"
Levi keeps his head raised high, as he stares up at his father. "I'm just offering a different sollution."
"You will pay for that."
"If I will, so will you. The Titans have gathered, there is a small number of them, but they're strong, maybe, strong enough," he glances up at the gods seated on their grand thrones, "than some of you. Do you wish to test if it is true?"
"Insolent boy," his father growls, but Levi knows his anger means nothing.
There are whispers all around him, hushed and concerned. Other gods don't wish to have another war, not if they're not sure that they can win it. And if Zeus doesn't submit, then he risks starting a war even grander that against Titans - a war among gods.
"I will lift the curse," he grits through his teeth.
"And you will leave us alone," Hange adds in a singing voice.
Zeus' glare is impressive, but Levi isn't afraid of it anymore. He knows it can't burn people.
"That's all we wanted to discuss," Levi fails to hide the smugness from his tone. "And now if you excuse us..."
"We have a daughter to return to," Hange finishes.
The gods sigh in relief when a demigod and his mortal disappear from their realm. History has taught them just how much destruction a grieving lover can bring. They thank Tyche for their luck.
***
When Hange and Levi return to their world, they find that the Titans are gone. Instead five humans are waiting for them, gathered around a crib with a wailing baby.
The storm is over and the sun is shining brigthly.
Hange kisses the back of his hand and murmurs, "We did it, my love."
Levi smiles and together, they come to hold their baby girl in their arms.
And like all joyous things, this one starts perfectly.

Built on a Lie
Prompt: I like the possible idea of Janus being a absolutely crushed to find Roman bleeding out due to a bruised ego in his room after pof was uploaded. After all most Sander Sides Fans hated Roman after he mocked Janus's Name.
Thanks for the prompt, babe! I hope it’s what you wanted!
Read on Ao3
Pairings: arguably roceit i guess??? it’s just focused on them, can be platonic or romantic if you want. same with LAMP, DLAMP, DLAMPR
Warnings: sympathitic janus even if it might not seem like it, sympathetic feral protective remus, roman is a hurt boi
Word Count: 5010
The wedding is tough.
After the wedding is an ordeal.
After after the wedding…hurts.
The Mindscape is all but deserted. No one wants to come out to the common areas for risk of running into someone who they had…disagreements with or getting swept up in a painfully awkward conversation. Patton lingers in the kitchen, Virgil almost never opens his door, Logan works, and Remus, well…Remus is the only one still behaving as normal.
Janus is grateful for his consistency.
In all honesty, and oh, the irony, he doesn’t enjoy this. He doesn’t enjoy the others walking on eggshells constantly, nor does he thrill at how they seem to jump at everyone, not just him. His point was made. That is his job.
But he’s not so sure he fully anticipated the cost.
At the very least, Logan seems to get over their troubles first. He approaches Janus a few days after the wedding and offers one of his philosophy books. Janus accepts it gratefully and by the time he’s finished it, Logan starts talking again. It’s not the greatest thing for the Mindscape that Logan is willing to talk to the others again.
Patton comes around next, simply because he’s the kindest. Janus pities him a little for it. But sure enough, the common areas start to ring again, drawing Remus out from the depths to cause his chaos.
Virgil appears next, summoned by the repeated calling of Remus’s antics and Janus’s exasperation. And sometimes, well, sometimes it seems like they’re back in their hallway, with Patton and Logan looking on with the air of some bemused anthropologists.
All the Sides reemerge and start trying to figure out what’s going on except for Roman.
Roman is nowhere to be found.
“He…he just needs some more time, I’m sure.”
“Roman is prone to fits of dramatics. It is unsurprising that he chooses to have a repeat performance.”
“Princey’s a bit of an asshole, it’s gonna take him a while to own up to what he did.”
“Catch!”
Janus grunts and staggers under Remus’s weight, eventually getting them both with their feet back under them on the floor. He adjusts his hat and looks disapprovingly at the amount of slime Remus has managed to get all over himself.
“What were you even doing?”
“Exploring the precise relationship of viscera to ventricles inside the heart of a blue whale!” Remus shakes his sleeve. “They lied about how bit the veins and arteries are.”
“How did you—nevermind,” Janus sighs, “I don’t want to know. Now, will you answer my question or not?”
Remus shrugs. “Dunno. Not paying attention.”
“…Roman’s not or you’re not?”
“I’m not!” He flicks some slime at Janus’s hat. “But you should be!”
“Yes, well, when slime starts to emerge from every corner again, I’ll chase you down.”
“Ooh, promises, promises.”
Janus doesn’t hurl some of the slime at Remus as he sinks out.
Roman still hasn’t appeared and the others are starting to notice. Thomas isn’t exactly in a position to do a whole lot of things, but at the very least he’s not doing what he perhaps should have been capable of. Logan notices and at first, chalks it up to the fact that they are in a pandemic; lapses in peak physical and mental performance are not unexpected, but it quickly becomes clear that it’s a little more than that.
The Mindscape grows dimmer, more sluggish. Thomas doesn’t seem to want to do much of anything, let alone work.
“I don’t understand,” Patton mumbles one afternoon when they meet—sans Roman—to try and figure out what’s going on, “I know I’m having a few—um, it’s not Thomas’s feelings that are causing us problems.”
Janus doesn’t make a note of how Virgil quickly presses his arm against Patton’s shoulder.
“There are certain things that are to be expected under times of great stress,” Logan muses, “and certainly any pre-existing problems will be exacerbated, but…this was not anticipated.”
Remus cranks the chainsaw and sets about carving up a new slice of…whatever he’s working on. “We’re in a pandemic, Spectacles!”
“I am wildly aware.”
Virgil stares at the chainsaw—which is fair—then up to Remus. “You ever been in a pandemic before, Remus?”
“Nope!”
Virgil rolls his eyes. “Okay, so that makes sense. But L’s right, this feels…weird. Like we’re missing something pretty big.”
In unison, they all look towards Roman’s seat.
The room falls as quiet as it can with Remus’s chainsaw still in the background.
The big, red, overstuffed armchair looks…different, without Roman lounging in it. The blinds aren’t drawn but it looks like the coloring has faded significantly, as though it’s been out in the sun for far too long. The seams look as though they’re struggling and there’s a dark imprint on one of the arms.
It’s not a shock to Janus to discover he’s never really looked at the chair before.
“Has anyone heard from Roman,” Logan asks quietly, “since the wedding?”
Virgil shakes his head, glancing around. Patton looks down at his chest.
“You think this is Roman.” It’s not a question.
“HIs tantrums do not normally last for this long,” Logan continues, adjusting his tie, “and whilst I admit that perhaps our circumstances have contributed more than I anticipated, I do not believe that is how Roman feels.”
“Princey has been away for a really long time.”
“Thomas is starting to get hurt by it,” Patton mumbles, laying a hand on his chest, “I can—I’m starting to feel it a little.”
“So we need to get Princey’s head out of his ass again.”
Logan sighs. “Most likely.”
“I didn’t want to rush it,” Patton says, glancing at Janus, “but you guys are right. I think he’s being selfish now.”
At the word ‘selfish,’ Remus freezes.
The chainsaw splutters and dies to the floor with a heavy clunk.
“Remus,” Patton scolds, “be careful with the…”
He trails off when he notices what the rest of them have.
Remus is standing completely still—an impossibility for Remus—his head tilted back, eyes fixed on a point in the ceiling. His nose quivers, almost like a bloodhound.
His nose twitches.
His lip curls up into a snarl.
His morning star appears in his hand with a growl as he tears off toward the stairs.
“Remus? Remus!”
“Wait!”
“What the fuck is going on?”
“Remus!”
Janus closes his eyes, reaching out to see if he can tell where Remus is going. His eyes shoot open.
“Roman’s room. Now.”
Virgil grabs Logan and Patton and sinks out.
Janus tries to appear in Roman’s room only to hit something burning cold. He hisses and flinches away from it, only to realize that he hasn’t materialized properly and is stuck. The burning cold reaches further, further, into his scales, digging under them, until Janus yanks himself away and appears, panting, in the hallway outside Roman’s door.
Virgil appears too, still holding the others. “What the fuck was that?”
“Did he block us out?”
“None of us have the ability to do that, other than Thomas.”
“Did he get Thomas to block us out?”
“I don’t know!”
A loud crash jerks their attention to Remus. He raises his morning star again and drives the spikes deep into the bright red of Roman’s door.
…that isn’t nearly as bright as it should be.
Remus snarls again and wails against the door. The wood starts to creak and buckle under the onslaught. He hefts the weapon again and shatters the door with a thunderous crack.
The morning star is hastily flung aside as Remus claws at the splintered wood, yanking it away from the hole he’s made.
The door groans and yields.
Remus rushes through, Virgil on his heels. Patton and Logan attempt to follow only to run smack into both of them.
“Why’d you stop, kiddos, we can’t—“
“Let us through, why did you—“
When those two fight their way through and into silence, Janus sighs and gingerly steps through, nudging Logan and Virgil aside to look at what’s got them so shocked. Roman in the middle of a sobbing mess of tissues, probably, or an empty room signifying he’s gone off on some quest in the Imagination, or even a pouting Roman glaring at them for ruining his door.
He gets around Virgil’s shoulder and his blood runs cold. Burning cold.
If they weren’t in Roman’s room, he’s not sure he’d be able to recognize this as Roman.
His pristine white costume is stained an ugly brown. The gold trimmings fall limply off, hating on by barely a thread. His hair sticks to the floor in horrid, matted clumps. His hands are speckled and stained with more blood, some congealed and crusted from the puddle on the floor. His legs bend at awkward and uncomfortable angles. One of his arms is stretched away from, reaching for something.
Or anything.
They dare not move. They dare hardly breathe.
Remus takes a step forward. Then another. Then another. He circles the body on the floor, not caring about stepping in the blood, crouching down on the far side. His face is drawn, paler than Janus has ever seen it go, he looks sick.
If…if Remus looks this bad—
Remus looks up at the others. His face darkens.
“Explain,” he whispers, his voice low and soft and dangerous, “now.”
No one can find words to even try.
When no one says anything, Remus crouches down and, with a tenderness that shocks Janus, lays his hand on Roman’s side.
“Roman,” he whispers, almost inaudibly, “Roman, can you hear me?”
“...Re?”
“Yeah, Ro-Bro, it’s—it’s me.”
“Wha’re you…here?”
“I wasn’t paying attention,” Remus growls, looking up at them again, “maybe no one was.”
“’S fine.”
“Roman, it is about the furthest from fine that it could be.”
“…’ve had worse.”
“…okay I was wrong. That is the furthest from fine it could be.”
Judging by the way Roman’s body slumps, his eyes must fall closed again. “You c’n go. D’n’t have to stay.”
“Not on your life.”
“’S fine, Re,” Roman slurs, “the others will…wonder where you are.”
Remus stiffens. His hand tenses on Roman’s side.
“No,” he says softly, “they won’t.”
Roman twitches, his head rolling up. “‘M sorry, Re.”
“What the absolute fuck are you apologizing to me for?”
“Thought they’d…care.” Roman’s head waivers and drop back down. “‘Bout you.”
Patton can’t stifle his whimper.
Roman twitches again. “Wha…”
“They’re not gonna wonder where I am,” Remus growls, “because they’re here.”
Roman’s going to panic. He’s going to freak out and they’ll have to reassure him. Or Roman’s going to be angry and they’ll have to stop him from hurting himself. Or he won’t believe Remus and that…that might be the worst.
…Janus should really stop thinking that.
“Why?”
“Why what?”
“Why’re they here, Re,” Roman mumbles, his body sagging to the floor again, “‘m I late for s’mething?”
Remus snarls and Roman flinches.
“Don’ be mad, Re, please, ‘m sorry—“
“I’m not mad at you, Roman.”
“But you’re mad.”
“No.” Remus stares at them, his voice still even and soft. “I’m enraged.”
Before they can say anything, Roman hisses and jerks. Remus’s hands instantly flit to Roman, searching for whatever’s hurt him.
“What’s happening, Ro,” he growls, “whose ass do I need to kick?”
“You can’t,” Roman wheezes, “can’ stop it.”
“The hell I can.”
“No, you—you actually can’t,” Roman says, reaching for Remus’s hand, “help—help me sit up?”
“Ro, you’re—I don’t know if that’s a good idea.”
“’S fine.”
“I don’t think it is!”
“Please?”
Remus sighs, gingerly wrapping his arms around Roman’s bruised and bloody body. “Come on then.”
Roman’s costume clings to the floor and his back as they sit up, the stain darkening and drying on the belly of his tunic. His head lolls against Remus’s chest, breathing heavily for a moment before he finally looks up.
Oh, his face…
It’s an absolute mess. Blood and salt and other things Janus couldn’t hope to figure out cling to every scrap of skin they can as he squints at them.
“You broke my door.”
“You were in trouble,” Remus replies easily, hoisting Roman to sit properly.
Roman sighs, his breath rattling. “Did I miss a meeting?”
“We…” Logan swallows. “We just came from one.”
“Oh.” Roman closes his eyes. “I’ll…gimme a minute, I’ll—“
“You’re not going anywhere.”
“I gotta do the meeting, Re.”
“The hell you do.”
“You—you don’t have to worry about the meeting, Roman,” Logan says firmly, taking a step closer, “we—what happened to you?”
“What d’you mean?”
“What does he mean?” Virgil explodes. “Roman, what the fuck is wrong with you?”
Roman hisses again. “Don’ have to shout, Virgil.”
“Of fucking course I have to shout! Look at you!”
“I believe that might be more of a reason not to shout,” Logan says quietly. Virgil huffs, balling his hands up into fists.
“What the fuck happened, Roman,” Virgil repeats, “and don’t pretend like you don’t know what we’re talking about.”
Roman sighs again, something whistling, what happened to him?—and sits up away from Remus. “I can’ shout, come closer.”
Logan and Virgil immediately walk forward, crouching down a respectful distance away. Patton takes a moment longer, creeping forward and reaching out a trembling hand toward Roman.
“K-kiddo,” he mumbles, “I’m so—so sorry, I didn’t know—“
“’S okay,” Roman slurs, leaning back against Remus, “’s okay, Pat.”
“Patton?” Logan turns. “What do you know?”
“Yeah, Patton,” Remus growls, “why don’t you tell us.”
Patton shrinks back. “I—I—“
“Shh,” Roman mumbles, clumsily patting Remus’s hand, “don’ do that, ’s okay.”
“No, Roman, it’s not.”
“...kiddo?”
Roman nods.
Patton takes a deep breath. “You guys know that—how Roman gets hurt sometimes when Thomas does something that, uh, doesn’t turn out great?”
“We all get hurt, Pat,” Virgil says, “that doesn’t explain this.”
As if on cue, Roman hisses again.
“No, no, Virgil,” Patton mumbles, “it’s—Roman’s the only one who gets physically hurt when this stuff happens.”
Logan’s eyes widen as he looks at Roman’s injuries. “Of course…”
Despite everything, Roman smiles tiredly up at him. “Figure it out?”
“You’re the Ego,” Logan mumbles, “and thus it follows that you would get…bruised.”
“Wait, that’s a literal thing?”
“Apparently so.”
“Jeez, Princey,” Virgil mumbles, “you coulda told me.”
“You were busy, didn’t wanna give you anything else to worry ‘bout.”
“That’s not—Roman—“
“But Thomas has been inside,” Logan interjects quickly, “alone, he hasn’t—we haven’t done anything since the pandemic began.”
“It’s a pandemic, Lo,” Roman says, “no one’s doing much of anything…besides staying inside, reading things, watching things…”
“So how is this happening to you, Roman,” Patton says, wringing his hands, “what—what’s doing this to Thomas?”
“Fuck,” Virgil says, burying his hands in his hair, “Princey has this been happening to you since the wedding?”
“Mm,” Roman hums, leaning heavily against Remus.
“People are watching the video,” Logan whispers, “and they’re—well, they’re talking about it.”
“Are they—are they still saying Thomas should’ve…” Paton gulps. “Done something different?”
Logan shakes his head. “I’m sure they are but Thomas…Thomas hasn’t been looking at the comments from the video, not really. Virgil and I have specifically told him not to.”
“So then why is Thomas still being hurt by it? Why are people still attacking Thomas?”
“Not—“ their heads all jerk around to look at Roman— “not Thomas.”
He waves a hand at himself.
“Wouldn’t be like this if it were them attacking Thomas.”
“Then what—“
“They’re attacking you?” Virgil’s eyes go wide as they scan over Roman’s injuries. “Directly?”
“Mm.”
“Oh, kiddo—“
“Princey, what the hell—“
“Why didn’t you tell us? We could’ve—“
“What for?”
In response, Roman’s eyes raise slowly, and look at Janus.
Everyone else follows, looking back toward the door, realizing that Janus hadn’t moved closer with the rest of them.
Roman’s gaze isn’t cold, but it makes him feel cold.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh, no.
“My name,” Janus breathes, “it’s…they’re mad at you because of me.”
“Told you,” Roman slurs as his eyes close again, “gotta come closer. Can’ shout like this.”
Janus swallows heavily, his throat dry, clutching his cloak tightly around him as he edges closer. Roman mumbles to himself until Janus is close enough to hear him.
“There we go…” He cracks a bloodied eye open. “You’re right. They’re angry at me. Rightfully so, but…yeah.”
“Because you made fun of my name?”
They all rush forward as Roman keens, his hand flying to his gut and hissing.
“Fuck, Princey, is it—is it still happening?”
“Mhm.”
“How do we—how do we stop it?”
“Can’t,” Roman mumbles, “wasn’t lying. Nothing you can do. Not until it’s over.”
“It’s been ages since the wedding, Roman, how much longer is this going to go on?”
Roman makes a vague noise of ‘I don’t know.’
“But—but—“ Logan looks frantically back and forth between them— “surely they can’t all be angry at you, that would be—“
“They’re not,” Roman mumbles, “not all of them, but it’s—it’s most of them.”
“How is that possible?”
“Some of them really don’t like me—“ Roman hisses again— “some of them really like J-Janus or Remus or…or Logan, or Patton—“
“What?”
“What does that have to do with—“
“And some of them just think that it’s—what I did was—“ Roman stifles a whimper, biting his lip— “really bad.”
“But then why…why aren’t the rest of us being affected like this?”
“You’re not the Ego.”
Remus snarls again as Roman jerks, a new bruise blooming on the underside of his neck.
“…ow.”
“We have to get you cleaned up,” Logan mutters shakily, trying to stand.
“Not much point right now,” Roman sighs, absentmindedly nuzzling into Remus, who tightens his grip protectively around Roman, “‘m just gonna get all messy again.”
“Not if we stay with you,” Logan promises, “not if we help.”
“…don’ have to.”
“What the hell are you—“ Virgil shakes his head. “Of course, we’re gonna help you, Roman.”
Roman just looks at them and closes his eyes.
“Ro—kiddo,” Patton says, reaching out for him, “why don’t you believe us?”
“You haven’t exactly…done that before.”
“We didn’t know!”
“You did.”
Patton’s retort dies in his throat. He looks desperately around for something, anything—
Janus is in shock.
Roman…oh, Roman…Janus knew Roman was the Ego, but he didn’t—he hadn’t—
Fuck, were the bruises from what he said still there? Not—not just that awful, awful thing about comparing Roman to Remus, but…from before?
How many times had Janus hurt Roman…and hadn’t cared?
“…I’m sorry, Roman,” Logan murmurs, breaking the silence, “will you let me help now?”
Roman looks up at him. “I’ve been awful to you,” he mumbles, “you don’—don’ have to apologize.”
“Yes, I do,” Logan says, “because you’ve been wonderful to me too…and I am not blameless in this either.”
“But they don’t know that.”
“I do,” Logan says firmly, “and they will.”
The smallest smile tugs at the corners of Roman’s mouth as Logan stands up to go fetch the first aid kit.
“Princey, I—Roman,” Virgil stammers, “fuck, you—oh my god—“
“I’ve been awful to you too, Virgil.”
“And I’ve been fucking worse right back!” Virgil squeezes his hands tight. “And I—you’re the only one who gets yelled at for it. Fuck, I’m—I’m so fucking sorry, I’m gonna—can I help too?”
“…if you want.”
“I’m gonna go help Logan get the shit,” Virgil mutters, getting to his feet and tearing out after Logan.
“…oh, kiddo…”
Patton’s eyes begin to tear up.
“I thought—I thought you needed more time—“
“Don’t beat yourself up over it, Pat,” Roman manages, “it’s not fun, trust me.”
Patton’s laugh comes out more like a sob.
“I won’t hold it against you, and you can—“ Roman hisses again— “help if you want.”
“Do you think you can drink something?”
“…I’ll try.”
Patton’s gone in a flash.
Janus looks at Remus. Remus glares at him and pulls Roman closer.
“…we should…try and get some of that off,” Janus tries, “so we can see what, um…”
Remus’s stony silence as Roman starts to drift again cuts off Janus’s words.
“…Remus…”
“You are very, very lucky,” Remus whispers, cutting him off, “that I’m not about to leave my brother’s side for a long time.”
Janus nods.
“Start on the buttons,” Remus says, “at his wrists. I’m not sure how much of this we can save.”
He immediately sets to work, trying to communicate how sorry, sorry, sorry he is with every gentle brush of his fingers against Roman’s skin. Remus summons something for them to lean Roman against as they start to gingerly remove the tunic. It’s worse than Janus thought.
Roman is one big pulsing wound, little nicks here and there and varying shades of purple, red, green, yellow, all coming from one massive sore in the center of him. As they watch, more injuries appear, little bruises that make his breath hitch, and occasionally a small swipe along his ribs. As Janus works the cuff over his wrist, one of his fingers blackens and swells as it breaks.
“Oh, Roman…”
“Sit up, Ro,” Remus whispers tenderly, peeling and unsticking the tunic from his back, “okay, there we go. Are most of them…up here?”
“They all look to be coming from…that,” Janus says, indicating the giant wound, “so…”
And indeed, as they watch, Roman keens again and the wound deepens, more blood beginning to trickle out.
“Are all of these—“ Janus indicates the injuries littering Roman’s body— “comments?”
“Mm.”
“Then what—why is this one…?”
Roman’s eyes drift closed and his head lolls back.
“’Oh, Roman, thank god you don't have a mustache.”
No.
No.
“’Otherwise, between you and Remus—‘” Roman winces as the wound digs deeper— “‘I wouldn't know who the evil twin is.’”
…no…
Janus reaches out a trembling hand and lays it next to the wound. It’s…it’s warm under his touch but…wrong.
A snarl jerks his hand back and he looks up to see Remus glaring at him.
“Remus—“
“Save it.” Remus glances toward the door. “The others will be back in a moment anyway.”
Sure enough, Logan and Virgil bust through the broken door, their hands full. Logan immediately sweeps his gaze over Roman and kneels down, reaching out.
“May I touch you, Roman?”
“Mm.”
“Thank you.” Logan slots a hand gently behind Roman’s hand. “We’re going to try and get the blood off of you first, alright?”
“Mm.”
“This might sting,” Logan cautions, starting to rub an antiseptic towel down Roman’s arm, “my apologies.”
Virgil takes another one and carefully cleans Roman’s other arm, mindful of his broken finger. As they work, Patton reappears, holding a bottle of water and a glass of juice.
“Come on, kiddo,” he says softly, taking Logan’s place behind Roman’s head, “drink this for me?”
Roman manages a few sips of each.
“Good job, kiddo, there you go…” Patton glances down. “Does it seem to be stopping at all?”
As if it can hear him, the wound starts to bleed again.
“Oh, Roman…”
Logan glances between the wound and Janus, his brow furrowed.
Please, Logan, for once…don’t be so smart.
The way Logan’s eyes widen and narrow say that it’s too late.
“This one seems to be the origin,” Logan says instead, turning away, “all the others seem to stem from it.”
“Okay,” Virgil mutters, “so what’s that one?”
Janus’s mouth runs dry as Logan turns to him expectantly.
“Well,” Remus growls, “go on.”
“I don’t—what if it just makes it worse?”
“That didn’t stop you before.”
“I didn’t—“
“Oh, shut up,” Remus cuts him off, “you knew. You knew.”
“Remus—“
“You wanna know how I know that?” Remus draws away from Roman just enough to clench his fists. “Because I found you after the wedding. You were all curled up on the floor and you were so upset.”
Roman stirs. “…Re…”
“And I asked you why, and you said it was because Roman made fun of your name,” Remus continues, “and I thought: ‘huh, that feels a little weird. Where have I heard that before?’”
Patton shrinks out of Remus’s line of sight.
“Then I remembered! The courtroom,” Remus continues, a manic smile on his face, “and your little plan to make sure Roman felt like he had no idea what was going on.”
“…J, what is he talking about?”
“Oh, he’s not going to tell you,” Remus says, “but I will.”
“Remus—“
“You said that you knew Roman,” Remus says, talking right over him, “and you knew that if you pushed him in the right direction, you’d be able to get him to listen to you easily.”
Even Logan pauses.
“Do you remember what you said, Janny?” Remus’s eyes bore into Janus’s mind. “Do you?”
“…Remus, please.”
Remus’s grin drops.
“You said,” he whispers, “that if you just fucked with his name, he’d be in the palm of your hand.”
And he was.
"Conveniently, everyone seems to have forgotten that. Forgotten what you did. Or they don't care."
Remus tightens his grip on Roman.
"But not me."
Guilt presses hot and thick against Janus’s throat. Unbidden, huge, fat tears start to form in his eyes as he stares at the wound on Roman’s gasping chest. Distantly, he thinks he can hear the others muttering but all he can think about is how much of this is a lie.
Roman isn’t the evil twin.
Roman isn’t Remus.
Roman isn’t stupid.
Roman isn’t worthless.
Roman isn’t a toy or a puppet or a tool.
Roman isn’t selfish or greedy or arrogant.
Roman is hurt and scared and Janus is so, so sorry.
He lets out a growl of his own and presses his hand hard to the wound.
Lie. Lie.
This is a lie.
Truth is hard and unyielding and painful but nothing is more painful than knowing that all of this is built on a lie.
Janus grits his teeth and concentrates, his hands trembling as he presses it against the wound, searching, searching for—
There.
He closes his fist around the lie and yanks, pulling the words and the hurt and the ache out of Roman’s chest in a bright flash.
When it’s gone, Roman’s chest is heaving, bruises still littering his torso, but the big wound is nowhere to be seen.
Panting, Janus clenches his fist until the lie shatters into pieces, the shard disappearing into harmless puffs of air.
He looks back.
Logan and Patton are staring at him open-mouthed. Virgil has his hands bunched up in his hoodie. Remus just stares at him, his face unreadable.
And Roman…
Roman looks up at him, panting too, but it doesn’t feel quite so wrong anymore.
“I can’t promise that this one won’t hurt you ever anymore,” he vows, “but I can promise that it will never have that much power again.”
Roman reaches out a hand. Janus lets him pull him closer.
“For what it’s worth,” he says, “I’m sorry.”
Janus huffs. “I can also promise that you’re not nearly as sorry as I am.”
They let their eyes fall closed as Janus’s hands steady Roman, landing lightly on his sides and just resting there. Roman tips forward and his forehead lands against Janus’s.
For a second, the room just breathes.
“Can we clean you up,” Janus whispers, “the rest of the way?”
“L-Logan?”
“I’m right here, Roman,” Logan says instantly, “what do you need?”
“Can I—wanna sleep.”
“I don’t think you’ve got a concussion, so that should be alright…” Logan glances at Patton. “Let’s have you drink a little more and then you can rest, hmm?”
“Okay.”
“Come on, kiddo,” Patton coaxes, “here we go…”
As Virgil and Logan set about cleaning again, Janus runs his hands slowly over every injury he can, plucking out what little lies there are and sending them away. He can tell by the weight of Remus’s stare on him that he’s not in the clear yet, but the way Roman starts to sag slowly makes it easier.
“Alright,” Logan murmurs after a while, “I think that’s all we can do.”
“…sleep?”
“Yes, Roman, you can sleep now. Would you like us to help you to your bed?”
Roman blinks, his hand reaching out for— “Re?”
“I gotcha, Ro-Bro.”
“Re…” Roman mumbles sleepily as he all but collapses into Remus.
“…yeah I’m okay with that.”
Logan jerks his head towards Roman’s mattress. Together, they drag it down to the floor and help Remus get Roman onto it. Logan murmurs that he’s going to go put the first aid kit away, but that he’ll be right back. Patton gathers up the glasses and leaves with the same promise.
Virgil glances back and forth between Remus and Janus.
“…you guys remember that this is about what Roman needs, right?”
“Yes.”
“Yeah.”
“Okay good.”
Virgil reaches out to brush a little of Roman’s hair out of his face.
“Well, I’m not going anywhere.”
“Neither am I.”
Logan and Patton reappear at the door and slot themselves in around the mattress. Remus looks at Janus.
Janus deliberately sits between Roman and the door, something he’s seen Remus do too many times.
Remus nods.
This conversation is far from over, but right now…
Right now, Roman mumbles sleepily and grabs onto Remus’s sleeve.
There is truly so much that they never see, isn’t there? Logan wasn’t wrong, the amount of Roman that’s never been on camera is truly staggering.
Janus has let that lie of omission cause too much damage for too long.
Right now, he’s got work to do.

Little Witch - Part 14
The Darkling x Reader
You felt fine after dinner, the food quickly replenishing your dwindled physique, but you didn't go back to work. You took Aleksander's advice and took the rest of the day to rest and take your mind off the countless tasks you had. There was one thing you needed to do though and that was thank Zoya for today.
She didn't have to do any of it, in fact, you believed she hated you from the minute you interrupted Aleksander's meeting. You were told by a servant she was out training Inferni's and so you made your way down to the Etherialki training grounds. She stood there, the image of a goddess. Her dark hair fell down her blue kefta in defined curls, collecting small snowflakes.
There was no indication she'd been involved in a deadly attack a mere 4 hours ago. Saints, I think I have a crush on Zoya. Nevertheless, you walked over to her, calling out her name to grab her attention.
'Deputy, how are you feeling?' She looked worried yet relieved to see you standing in front of her on both of your legs.
'Y/N will do Zoya.'
'Alright then'
'Thank you for today. I don't know what came over me.'
'We all have our moments. Some of us just hide them better' You couldn't tell whether that was a dig at you or not.
'You're an amazing soldier Zoya. I'm very impressed'
'Well I didn't just sleep my way to the top if that's what you're implying.' She turned her addicting gaze away from you, studying the young Infernis.
'I beg your pardon?' You were taken aback.
'How's your leg?' She tried to change the topic but you weren't ready to.
'What do you mean Zoya, spit it out.'
'You know what I mean Y/N.' Why was she avoiding the conversation if she brought it up in the first place?
'Are you and Gener-' Is this another thing he had lied to me about? You vaguely remember thinking the two had been involved when you seen them in the same room but it passed quickly, surely he would have told you, especially if it was with one of his most trusted Grisha? The thought was another painful blow to your gut. They just kept on coming. You couldn't finish your sentence for she already answered it.
'No.'
Tumblr media
'Zoya'
'Not anymore... Alina is here now' The strong feisty woman was gone now, in her place was a hurt and rejected woman. You were old enough to see it, you had been her before, hell you were her now. You looked at her striking beauty, thought about her incredible skills, and then stupidly compared yourself to her. If he rejected her, you're next. Your silence must have comforted her more than words could, for she shrugged her shoulders and said
'He keeps saying she's his equal, the day to his night' His equal. That's what Alina said.
'You don't need anyone Zoya. I can promise you you'll amount to great things on your own.' Despite the hurt you felt, you focused on her.
'Well as of right now I'm stuck to skiff trips and when you request me' You eyed her inquisitively 'Our dear General's doings.' she admitted.
'What gave you such an honor' you teased.
'I got into a riff with the precious Sun-Summoner after she vexed me.' She shut her eyes tightly as if trying to forget the memory.
'She doesn't strike me as the vexing type-' Your conversation was quickly interrupted when an Inferni accidentally set alight more than just the mannequin and Zoya scrambled to put it out, scolding the boy in the process.
'I'll leave you to it then'
You walked away, hurt and on the verge of tears. You needed to speak to Aleksander, you were sick of him lying to you but you were even more tired of feeling that severe urge to cry every time you thought about him. You came here to do your job and to show everyone you had your powers under control, yet all you've done so far is the opposite. Saints be damned you would walk away from your position because of a complicated relationship, you were better than that. But you also recognized that if you confronted Aleksander about all of this, he would either have to tell you about his plans for Alina or lie again, and you knew he would lie. It was a vicious cycle, one that wouldn't end. It was heartbreaking knowing that the man who claimed to never stop loving you could lie to you so easily.
You were right to question your trust in him, he never gave you a reason not to.
***
He was sitting at his desk, back turned towards you. You hesitated, the thought of running out the door and locking yourself in your room sounding pretty attractive. Maybe a good cry will fix this.
'Y/N I thought I told you to rest' He spoke calmly, his hand never dropping the pen. You shut the doors, not wanting the guards outside to hear what you were about to say. This made him turn around.
'We need to talk'
He dropped the pen and paper and stood up, indicating he was all ears. You glued your eyes to his knowing your vulnerability peeked through but you didn't care to hide it.
'What are your plans for me, Aleksander?'
He cocked his head to the side, confused. 'What?'
'Why keep me around when Alina is here?'
You were never the jealous kind, but you came to realize this wasn't jealousy. It was disappointment and aching after being away from him for almost a century. You had built up this life in your head, one where everything was perfect and Aleksander hadn't changed but you raised the bar too high. The bad parts of Aleksander faded away with each year and the best parts of him enhanced in your mind. You had forgotten what he was truly like, plus coming to terms with the fact that he lived a seemingly happy life while you were gone stung a bit too. With each day, the disappointment turned into hurt and anger.
'Y/N I already told you, I have a plan.'
'So you expect me to watch you and Alina fawn over each other while I stay in the shadows being a dutiful Second in Command? I may be loyal but I'm not going to blindly follow along Aleksander, not anymore.' It's making me miserable.
His hands reached out for you but you moved away. 'You know I love you Y/N' He said as if the foolish statement would make your worries and anger melt away.
Tumblr media
'Then act like it'
'It's not that simple.'
'It never is, is it?' You bitterly laughed. What's the point of loving somebody if you're not willing to do everything to make them stop hurting?
'Why won't you tell me?' Your voice was a whisper he barely registered. 'Do you not trust me? Cause I'll admit it right now, I may love you, but I don't trust you Aleksander.'
Your admission hit him like a pile of bricks. He was brought back to when you first met, your shaking body radiating hostility as you rode in the carriage with him. He tried to assure you you were safe, you were one of his Grisha now, but you were having none of it. You didn't trust anybody for months after you arrived in the Little Palace, especially him and right now, it was all back to square one.
'Have I really given you that many reasons to not trust me?' It had been so long since he had somebody to care for and love that he forgot how to act around you. Perhaps he was back to square one too.
'Yes. Your sly comments about killing the King and finding the stag, your relationship with Alina, even with Zoya- Aleksander you're lying to me every day and you think I'll still be compliant. I'm not the same Y/N you remember.'
'You know what I want Y/N. You've always known'
'I do, but I need to know how you're going to do it all. How can I be supportive when I don't know what the hell is going on around me. A goodnight kiss every now and then won't fix this if you're doing the same to somebody else'
'Is this what this is? Your way of saying I'm fucking my Sun-Summoner on the side?'
'I never said that. All I wanted to know was why I'm not in on the plan that's supposed to give us more power. Is it because I'm a loose cannon, are you scared of what I'll do if I won't agree with you?'
You were sure of one thing; while you were gone nobody dared to disagree with the Darkling and he had grown to get used to it. Power corrupts, resistance humbles.
Somehow you still held your composure, albeit it was difficult. Aleksander however, was losing his temperate demeanor. He was pacing the lengths of the room and his hand had brushed through his hair countless times, the image of someone who was backed into a corner they couldn't get out of.
'I haven't told you because I don't want you to get burned. If it goes wrong it would be good to have some of us not hanged for treason would it not?' Bullshit. He must've forgotten you had the power of a heartrenderer. Aleksander was lying right through his teeth.
'You and I both know that's not true. If history is any indication then they'll turn on all Grisha.'
'And you'll be here to make sure they don't.' He tried to reason but you let out a loud laugh.
'Up until 2 weeks ago you didn't even consider giving me my old post back, do you really expect me to believe you changed your strategy in a matter of days?'
He stayed silent and settled against his desk. His crossed arms showed he was in no mood to discuss any further but you weren't done. He was going to tell you everything whether he liked it or not. You were sick of being kept in the dark. You had your title of Deputy back now, yet you still had no idea what truly went on and had no real sway against the top-ranking Grisha who no doubt were in on the plans. Power corrupts, resistance humbles, and you were done being humbled.
'Aleksander don't make me force it out of you' As soon as the words left your mouth you tried to find some part of you that regretted them but came up empty-handed.
His head whipped around with whiplash speed. You could see the internal battle going on behind his eyes of whether you would actually make do on your threat. You didn't know whether it was empty or whether you actually would do it but it was tempting.
'You said you changed, but I don't think you did' He retorted, eyeing you up and down with a look of displeasure. The situation was a shift from the usual, this time he was the one losing control and spiraling whereas you were the perfect example of a calm before the storm. The Little Witch he had grown to love and worship.
'I'm stronger, I can be stronger. I am limitless' You prided yourself on the restraint you'd shown thus far. You were in a palace full of Grisha, of Healers, a Tailor, a Sun-Summoner yet you didn't make any moves to take anything. The old Y/N wouldn't hesitate to take what wasn't hers. Maybe that's why you would burn out, lose as you gained. This time you knew how to do it properly, how to be an Elemental who yielded it all.
'Your quench for power is contending mine, Sweet Y/N.' For the second time in your life, you saw fear in Aleksander's eyes. He always had a feeling you yearned to have a stronger grasp of the Second-Army and for so long, even now, you tried to lie to yourself and deny it. But deep down some voices always whispered 'it's only right to have a leader who represents them all'.
'Wrong. I already have it, I just need to use it.' You raised your hands slowly, showing him you meant what you said. I'm really doing this. Your heart dropped when his raised too. He's willing to hurt me to protect his lies.
'There's no going back from this' You felt weirdly ready. Although you had never used your Grisha powers against Aleksander in a fight, you had a hefty slice of hope in you that you could overpower him. You had what he had and more.
'Y/N stop this.'
'Why? So that you'll lie to me again? Make me the other woman? It's inevitable that it comes to this' Your heart picked up in speed as your breathing became rapid. The influx of power at your fingertips itched to get out and make itself useful and containing it was painful.
Shadows pooled on the ground and around your feet yet you didn't know who they belonged to. Technically they're all his, I just know how to control them.
Panic shot through you as you felt a tendril of the black nothingness grasp around your wrist. No. You let yourself go, snapping the shackle and mirroring it on him. He had never experienced cruelty at the hands of his own power until now and was completely powerless as the black restraints rendered him useless. You concentrated on his pulse, soothing it to its normal rate then into a slow hum, relaxing his mind. This all felt so wrong yet so right.
'I'm feeling merciful today. When you feel up to it, tell me everything, or else I promise I won't hesitate Aleksander. We're the same in that manner.'
You watched as he gathered himself, anger rising onto his face. His moves were rigid and stiff despite your previous soothing.
'Time is ticking' Before he could say another word, you left the defeated Darkling, instilled with a sudden sense of pride.

In which you find yourself fake dating Bakugou to appease his mother. Thank @bakugotrashpanda that I even write. Comment your thoughts below or if you’re shy leave me an ask! AGED UP/PRO HERO AU, and dolls there are currently no warnings.   Part on is HERE
Tumblr media
Anger fuels your actions as you withdraw a knife, face twisted into a feral snarl as you close the distance between you and your not so lucky boss. He matches your disgusted features, closing faster than you can to keep your knife from finding purchase between his third and fourth ribs. He corners you out of sight, the woman who was attending to you turns away with a blush. Truly thinking the two of you were having an intimate moment when it was anything but.
"This joke isn't fucking funny." You growl struggling to keep your voice low as his vice grip on your biceps becomes harsher.
"It's not a fucking joke." He hisses, before one of his hands runs through his hair. A sign of stress you noticed for the ash blonde, while the other hand sets blunt nails into your skin. You blow air through your nose as if you were a steaming dragon waiting for him to explain.
"My mom won't leave me the hell alone about a girlfriend. Like I fucking have time for one." He starts and you break away from his grip.
"Then we just pretend." A huff while he shakes his head.
"But we have to make it look good. She will expect PDA, and a lot of it." You laugh at his statement while he looks away.
"Please as if Dynamight is touchy feely." You tease making hand motions as you let your fingers play against his clothed muscles. He gives you a pointed look, something odd shines deeply in those dark eyes. Something like hurt, your smile falters for a moment as you watch him peek over a guarded wall.
"Growing up I was. And still am with people I...know well. Plus she's already seen me in a serious relationship."
"Then why aren't you bringing her?" The venom escapes you faster than you can stop it. Regret blooms in your stomach as you watch his guard blow sky high, burning sugar fills the air. His glare pure anger as he bites out
"She only loved me for my Pro-hero money."
He turns away from you to collect himself, angry that he's still angry over a bitch that should be long forgotten. Still your tongue was sharper than any knife on your thick yet fit body. He sighs, trying to let the tension free from his shoulders before he reluctantly offers you his large, ungloved hand.
The thought of your bare palm touching his sends your stomach into a summersault before he grabs onto your hand himself, even interlacing your fingers.
It had been years since you held someone's hand, let alone been close enough to smell them. A cold sweat prickles over your skin before he speaks.
"Let's make this shit look good."
With that he pulls you out of the store, setting off rhythmic short blasts so nothing but blinding light can be caught on film. Some camera's lose their lenses thanks to your sly hands as you shove them deep in Bakugou's jacket that he insisted you'd wear over your cute outfit. That his mom would take it more seriously that you wore his clothes that he might have offered to you.
Your hand feels warm in Bakugou's as he guides the two of you down the street, eyeing jewelry through glass windows here and there. He tries to keep his focus on the way to the bakery instead of how small your hand is in his.
"So is there something special about tonight's dinner? Any sort of occasion?" You prompt, anything to avoid the squeezing in your heart.
"It's her birthday today." He says nonchalantly as your anxiety skyrockets.
"Birthday?! Baku-"
"Katsuki." He cuts you off, sending you a glare, "It has to be Katsuki or some dumb pet name from now on, Princess."
You point daggers as you glare up at him, his slightly messy hair dances in the wind as his faded sides do anything to protect him from the biting cold. You think to offer him his jacket back, it felt three sizes too big.
"Look, Katsuki a birthday dinner is a big fucking deal. She'll think we are serious." The two of you stop just before the bakery, he let's go of your hand to open the door for you, a habit he's picked up from Kirishima. You step inside the warmth and let the smell of mouth watering sweets over take your senses. The smell fights with the smokey sweet scent that rolls off of Bakugou as he crowds closer to you due to the busy cafe.
"Good. She needs to think we are. Before you say anything else it's one dinner. She won't remember by Christmas." He snarls, pressing his hand into your lower back to gently push you forward in line. Suddenly someone behind the counter waves to catch your attention.
"Ah Dyna-" The clerk clears his throat before he causes a frenzy, most people already too timid of Bakugou to approach him, having you the tough as nails hero by his side makes him seem even deadlier.
"Bakugou-sama. I just finished the decorations for the order. Would you like to approve it?"
"Yea yea." He says cooly, eyes glancing over his usual cup of an iced americano, he taps the lid and the Barista gives him her full attention. Lashes batting as she practically squirms with pleasure beneath his weighted gaze, you fight to keep the disgust off your face. How could anyone fawn over this wet blanket?
"I need a toasted white mocha iced coffee with sweet cream." His voice is smooth and she begins to get to work even without his please but you're caught too off guard to scold him.  How did he know your coffee order?
You always went to get the coffee with Kirishima and only then for an excuse to get out of the office and away from a pig headed blonde.
"Trying something new?" She asks as she sets it down, her number clearly written on this cup as well. You keep your face blank as she ignores you.
"Maybe." He says giving her little eye contact as the owner pushes her away to show off the cake.  He removes the lid of the box and before it is all the way off a genuine, although small, smile forms on his face as he stares at the beautiful array of flowers in icing. Another surprise that his face can go so soft before it changes in an instant. His normal cocky smile returning as he removes his wallet and over pays for it all.
"This is too…" But the owner is cut off by a nasty vermillion glare before he passes you your coffee grabbing for his own and the bag.
"See ya round." Is all he offers before slipping out of the ringing door. Stunned into silence you drink your delicious drink as you two make your way back to his car.
"It's cold enough that the icing won't get fucked up. Are you cold? I want to get that hag one more thing. Not sure what though." He says gently placing the cake into the floorboard of the back seat.
"Well for starters I'm sure she'd love it if you stopped calling her a hag. That's rude, dickface." You say finishing your coffee, body singing from the much needed energy. He rolls his eyes at your comment, grabbing for your trash as he tosses his empty cup as well.
"Yea well, she pisses me off." He grunts, eyes shifting for cameras before letting his hand slide down your forearm to your hand. You jolt from the touch but absentmindedly lean into his warmth.
"Mmhmm." You affirm with a bit of an attitude. He sneers down at you as the two of you actively look for anything that screams Bakugou Mitsuki.
Although you aren't so sure you know what that would be. Your mind wanders to what his family is like as his molten eyes rove over window shops and glare at passer byers. Anyone with their phone out and aimed at him gets an especially intimidating look.
"Do we have a background to our fake relationship?" You ask, curiosity bubbling through your bloodstream carried by caffeine.
"Kinda explains itself doesn't it?" He prompts, "We work together a lot. She's heard your name before."
"Oh." Is all you can say, would his mom ask for details? Well it wouldn't be too hard to believe that she would want the story most likely from you, hoping you'll gush over the details any other man would skimp. A sigh leaves your lips before your eyes catch an odd glint in the light, ahead of you two is a small woman beneath a parasol as if the lazy winter sun threatened the day. Your eyes blow wide as she turns, heart racing in your chest as you see the black kimono and fox mask slightly askew.
Quickly you grab onto Bakugou's black dress shirt, backing yourself up against a brick wall, guiding him with you.
"What are you doing?" He hisses as your brain panics, he sees a rare twinge of fear in your eyes. Setting him in high alert, his skin crackles as he tries to summon his quirk.
"It's just...I think I saw my ex and I'm not ready to see him yet." A lie, a bold face lie as you fight the screaming need in your blood. To withdraw a knife, to send it through that bitch's third eye chakra.
But if you did, then everyone would know.
Bakugou would know.
You gulp down the instinct.
"Where?" He growls leaning closer to you to block your face. The busy crowd overlaps the petite woman in black before it parts again leaving you with an uneasy pit in your stomach.
"I-" You catch your breath, smoothing his dress shirt as your eyes are fixated to the spot, "I guess I only thought I saw him."
Your voice threatens to crack and in the three years the two of you have worked closely together, he has never seen you like this. Worried, disheveled almost. He leans in close, leveling himself to you as he stares into your eyes.
"Did he…?" His eyes linger over your scars for a second, unknowingly and for the first time, Bakugou makes you feel weak. Your eyes screw into a nasty sneer before you give him a light shove.
"No." You hiss, wanting to cross your arms but after what looked like a kiss, you gently relax your face, grabbing for his hand as you pull him along.  Suddenly tired of the easy stroll and knowing exactly what to get his mother.
"A watch? Not a bad idea." He says as the two of you look over the case.
"No, too old fashioned. Your mom would like this." A smile forms on your lips as your finger taps the glass case over a silver bracelet. In your head you've seen four different ways to take the bracelet without alarm or notice until it was much too late. Instead you flag someone down.
"Do you all still inscribe in house?" You ask, earning a nod from the attendant, "Perfect. Now Ba- Katsuki you just have to think of something nice to say."
He glares down at the bracelet for a long time before he writes something down on the form. After an hour the man returns asking Bakugou to confirm the writing after a nod and a few minutes the hot head is passed a delicate white bag.
Time blurs together as your eyes search the crowd for a haunting fox mask while Bakugou guides the two of you to the car. Shutting the passenger door behind you and only then do you let out a heavy sigh of relief.
The drive isn't long before Bakugou pulls up in front of a nice two story townhome, parking his black sports car.
"Get out." He states, slipping out of the car himself only to wait impatiently by your door.
"This is turning into a lot more than half a day."
"Make it through this dinner and I'll make it worth your while." He snarls, picking up the gift and cake before heading to the front door. He slides in his old key and opens the door to his childhood home expecting you to follow him in. Tentatively you do, slipping off your shoes much slower than him as he rushes to the kitchen. Your heart rushes in your ears banging against your ribcage as your mind races. You had never been in a home so nice before, well not invited anyway. You always had to resort to climbing through windows or picking the lock to reveal the shiny contents of inside.
Was this what it was like to grow up in a home?
Your third thought only after mentally logging the windows and doors, listing the valuables in descending order. Your eyes wander over the pictures on the foyer table, you smirk to yourself as you see a tiny Bakugou with what must be his mother and Father. They are all laughing and for a moment your heart hurts as you think of your sister shivering under a piss covered blanket.
"Oi! Come here." Bakugou calls from somewhere within the house, you pass the stairs and small hall into the dining room with tatami doors that open into the kitchen.
"Sit." He orders, pointing to the low dining room table.
"I'm not a dog, I'm your 'date' Asshole." You snarl, "What are you doing anyway?"
"What's it fucking look like? I'm cooking! Ma will be home by the time I'm done. Get comfortable, bitch face."
"Wow what a great pet name." You hiss, collapsing into the pillows with a sigh, part of you wished this was a kotatsu so you could take a nap. Instead you stare at the ceiling mind wandering as the smell of something good floats through the house. You think of how warm the home feels compared to the blistering wind that whips outside, reminding you that maybe you should fix your hair before meeting his parents.
"Bathroom?" You whine, still unmoving on the floor. The hot head sticks half his body over the threshold to stare down at you. His glare speaks a thousand words.
"Yea yea hands to myself I got it."
"Upstairs, to the right."
"Got it boss!" You fake salute from the floor before rising. Taking the stairs quickly, fully intending to take a right but the door at the top of the stairs is slightly open. A faint smell of caramel tickles your nose as you near closer. Peering inside you see what had to be Bakugou's childhood bedroom, seemingly untouched. Bed made, All might and singed villains hang from the walls, some long forgotten laundry in a basket and a bookshelf filled with a variety books.
His room was bigger than your current studio apartment and all you can do is sigh. And wonder. Trying not to feel jealous over the nice life he clearly had growing up while you were kept in a dark room to "strengthen your mind" for days at a time. Still it's not as if it were Bakugou's fault, he was just lucky. And you wouldn't wish your childhood on anyone.
Not even Bakugou.
Your record mentioned your thefts but never your much darker past. And how could they? It had been drilled into you how to clean up after yourself.
Habit forces your hand for something, anything as you snatch a small keychain of Allmight and shove it into your jeans pocket.
"You lost?" Bakugou yells through the quiet home.
"No, a woman takes her time!" You shout back slamming the door. Staring into your reflection as you wish for the night to end.
It doesn't end as quickly as you'd like but it goes by at a decent pace. Introductions come easy and Mitsuki smiles brightly at you which feels like a good sign. Dinner goes by smoothly, the food delicious as you even help yourself to seconds.
Surprisingly the Bakugous are easy to talk to, it felt as if you'd always know his parents. Laughing over shared stories and even listening intently to their work and fashion.
"So what did you think?" Mitsuki asks as Katsuki goes to clear the table. You try to stand to help only for his broad hand to land on your shoulder, forcing you back into a seated position. You straighten your back.
"Ah dinner was delicious. I didn't know Katsuki-kun could cook so well." You smile as her face begins to sour. Uh oh.
"KATSUKI ARE YOU NOT FEEDING HER? HOW HAS SHE NOT HAD YOUR FOOD NOT ONCE? YOU JERK YOU BETTER NOT BE SOME ASSHOLE THAT MAKES THE WOMAN COOK!"
"LISTEN YOU HA-!" He stops himself and glances at you causing you to quickly intervene.
"Oh Bakugou-san…"
"Mitsuki-san." She inturrpts, suddenly level headed as she looks to you.
"Mitsuki-san, Katsuki and I have only been dating officially for a month. We haven't had the chance for a home cooked meal yet." You lie with a sweet worried smile that Mitsuki buys.
"I see, so what is it that you like about my bullish son?"
Nothing, is what you want to say, looking at him to buy you time as you think. Slowly the words come to you. You think of how he knew your coffee order, how angry he looked on your behalf when he thought the person who carved you up was someone you once loved.
"Underneath all that brutish attitude is a really nice guy. He can be kind and caring. He is heroic despite his mouth." He looks as surprised as his mother when you speak before she smiles. Bakugou keeps his eyes trained on you as he returns from the kitchen with the cake and gift.
"Here." Bakugou sets the small gift box in front of his mom, who tears into it immediately. She smiles looking down at the bracelet as she turns it to see the inscription inside. Her eyes water as Masaru smiles reading the words aloud.
"Family first." He rubs Mitsuki's back as she quickly wipes away a stray tear.
"I think it's time for the photo album."
"NO!"
"YES!" She slams the old book down, flanking your other side to look over the pages with you.  Awkwardly you offer a smile as Katsuki groans beside you.
"Mooooom!"
"Hush ungrateful brat! It's my birthday!" Mitsuki says as if it's final, Katsuki grumbles in defeat.
She pours over the pictures, pointing out things here and there, after a while you begin to smile. Relishing over the fact you're probably the only person who's seen their boss' embarrassing baby pictures.
"I should blow these the fuck up!" Bakugou growls, reaching for the album. You grab onto his poppin hand to stop him.
"No, you're so lucky you have these…" Fuck, you're about to make things super awkward, there will be a dreaded question and no matter how many times you answer it, even if it is a lie, it hurts. Feeling as though an icy hand cradles your heart as it beats, fingers becoming an uncomfortable vice.
"Why? Did something happen to your photos?" The pity in Mitsuki's voice digs beneath your skin, you sigh.
"They were lost to a fire." An easier lie to the actual truth. Honestly you weren't even sure if you had ever been photographed before.
Maybe just your mug shots.
Still you couldn't stomach the thought of telling Mitsuki that you didn't know whether your parents died tragically or if they left you and your sister to die in the streets.
After a moment Mitsuki presses her hand to your back, a brief rub before she presses into your shoulder blade, as if you remind you she was there.
"Well, you always have family here dear." She smiles softly, your heart flutters. The Bakugous, even if it was supposed to be pretend, felt like family to you.
"Thank you." You smile back as Mitsuki allows you to flip the page. Your smile forms into a smirk as you see a smaller version of your hot headed boss standing next to a boy with curly emerald hair.
"You and Izuku used to be good friends huh?" You tease, "What happened?"
Bakugou doesn't react as you expect him too, he is not raging and cursing instead his face is calm, open.
"Pride got in the way." His words somber, "But Deku's over it."
A small silence falls over the room from Katsuki's honesty, Mitsuki glances at her husband who gives a small nod. Still you stare at the ash blonde who starts to crowd you, something odd sitting on his face.
"Are you?" The question falls from your plush lips. Bakugou grits his teeth
"Turn the fucking page." And you do, the next picture his graduating glass and you are elated, excited to see your newfound friends in their youth.
"Eijoru-kun! Gods look at his hair. It was so short then! Look at how close you guys are!"
The next hour is shared over cake and memories. It feels good to be "family" if only for the night.
"It is getting late Mitsuki dear." Masaru says softly, pulling a sigh from his wife. She stands and everyone follows. She gives hugs out by the door, squeezing you especially tight.
"Oh Katsuki! The two of you should have Christmas dinner here, we are having fried chicken!" Mitsuki exclaims, immediately Bakugou shuts it down giving you a look as if you gave her the idea
"No! We havta work." He shrugs his shoulders, holding out his jacket for you to slip into. Slowly you slip your arms in as you watch disappointment wash over Mitsuki's features.
Don't say it, don't say it don't say it.
You ignore the voice in your head and say it anyway.
"Actually, Eijirou forced us off Christmas remember? Since we've worked so many in a row." Bakugou bristles, obviously agitated as he roughly places the jacket on your shoulders, resting his hot hands there.
"Come on we didn't have any plans right?"
A part of you does it for the money, another part of you does it out of loneliness.
He glares at you, squeezing you so hard you're sure it'd be bruised.
"Fine." He bites out while Mitsuki grabs at his ear.
"Don't act as if we are a chore!" She taps her bracelet, "Family first!"
"Family first." He growls and you're learning this is what they say instead of 'I love you'. He tries to guide you out to the car but his mother grabs his sleeve.
"It'll be just a moment dear." She smiles at you, Bakugou goes into his pants pockets for the keys for you but you are already dangling them with a devilish smirk. His eyes harden as you turn to give him your back. Hand smoothly removing the old All Might keychain to attach it to his keys. A part of you will wonder if he will notice.
Meanwhile Mitsuki gives Bakugou a deadly look before an even deadlier hug.
"I really like her." She pulls away allowing Bakugou to step outside, "Don't fuck this up."

Passing Through
Dannymay Day 5: Doorway
“Don’t go in there,” his mother warned. Her voice shook. “Never go through that door.”
Danny had no intention of ignoring his mother, especially since the night she’d given him that warning was seared so thoroughly in his mind he didn’t think even as an adult he’d ever forget it.
It had been dark, but not any darker than any other night with Danny’s myriad nightlights and glowing stars stuck everywhere he could reach and then some. The night had long since settled, and Danny was supposed to be sleeping and was instead, like any young child, not doing that.
In fact, he’d been staring out his window, arm balanced on the sill and face pressed up against the glass so he could see the night sky in all her glory. It was one of the only times he felt truly comfortable, alone and with his parents and sister asleep. He often imagined himself sailing amongst those stars. Or flying high enough to reach out and cradle one to his chest.
Jazz always told him that was impossible, that each star was as far away from each other as they were from earth, if not further. He told her she could eat dirt, and she got a hurt look in her eyes that made him feel bad, but he didn’t apologize because she was being mean first.
He’d been preoccupied, that’s why he didn’t notice it at first.
When the soft pink touch of the sun started obscuring the night’s stars, Danny realized he’d been up all night and he was probably going to fall asleep in class again. He turned around to quickly dive into bed to at least feign having slept so his parents didn’t scold him and feel like they had to check in on him at night the way they threatened to last time.
He hadn’t expected the door.
It was small, very small compared to a normal door. It was just large enough that Danny could crawl through on all fours, and he knew there was no way his dad would ever be able to get through. At least not more than an arm. Maybe his head if he tried to dive through it.
The door was closed, a soft, purple light on the other side painting the carpet beneath where it stood, balanced, in the middle of the room. Acting as if it was placed in the wall like any good door, but missing the wall itself entirely.
Danny walked closer, his mind off bed times and getting ready for school entirely. Now he was thinking of adventures and stories Jazz used to read him before he could read himself. Stories of exploration and hidden worlds. His hand brushed against the polished brass handle, and a jolt of electricity flowed through him, causing every hair in his body to stand on end.
He probably should have let go then, released the handle and backed up, frightened. But instead Danny’s grip tightened and he twisted the nob, pulling it slowly open, his heart beating in rapt anticipation. It was barely open a sliver, the tiniest bit of purple light spilling out onto the frame, when his mother ran into the room and slammed it closed.
She was wearing a hazmat suit, as if she’d just come from the lab downstairs, with thick rubber gloves and ominous red goggles that reflected a twisted version of Danny’s face back at him as she pulled him into a tight, unforgiving hug.
“Thank goodness you’re safe,” she said, her words heavy with exertion. Had she run up here? How did she know there was a door?
Danny looked over his mother’s shoulder to take another look, but the door had vanished at some point when his eyes were no longer locked upon it. That was when she gave him her warning. The one he had no intention of ignoring.
The one he was disregarding now, for no reason other than he was sick of it. He was tired of the nights, laying awake and seeing a door that promised so much and had yet to be given the opportunity to deliver.
His mother would skin him alive if she knew, but she’d probably never find out. Honestly, if Tucker’s theories were true and it was some monster trying to trick him into its lair Coraline-style, it’d probably take at least a week for her to even realize he was gone. His dad probably wouldn’t notice at all.
Jazz…
Danny shook his head. If anything, Jazz would be the one to forgive him for being dumb. She understood what it was like to have this burning curiosity, this need to know.
The door didn’t always appear. Most nights it did, but only when Danny was distracted by something, usually the stars outside his window, sometimes a particularly fun video game or a good book. It only ever appeared right on the cusp of night and morning, before the sun rose fully but after the stars hid away. And it always waited for him to look away before it disappeared.
He didn’t plan on looking away tonight.
The first night after his mother’s warning, he’d stayed up all night, terrified, waiting for the door to appear. It never did. In fact, the next month, he spent every second awake expecting it to appear and being almost disappointed when it didn’t.
It appeared again, in much the same way it had the first time, while Danny was star gazing.
That’s why, now, knowing the rules (or rather what few rules he could tell from this side of the door), Danny was determined to follow through. None of his questions would be answered just waiting for the door to appear or not appear, nor would they be answered by spending time staring at it and studying it from the outside.
He needed to go through.
The brass knob was cold against his palm, and it turned easily. The click of the mechanism was loud in the night’s quiet. He held his breath. He opened the door.
There was no resistance when it swung open. Almost the opposite, in fact, like it had been waiting for an excuse. The soft purple light that had teased the edges of the door was much closer to a deep, swirling purple that looked almost like mist and obscured the path forward.
But Danny wasn’t scared.
He was curious.
He stepped through, and heard the door close softly behind him. Just like in a horror movie really, and exactly like the stories his mother told him, warning him of monsters and things from the other side.
It didn’t matter anymore, if he’d made the right choice. He’d made his choice and there was only one path to take. Danny walked into the mists and kept walking.
No more than an hour could have passed, but it felt like much longer. Time seemed to stretch along with the endless path, and Danny hadn’t come any closer to the answers he wanted.
He sighed. “Hello? Is anyone here?” he tried calling out, to no avail.
This was turning out to be a waste of a trip. With all the cryptic warnings, he’d hoped it wouldn’t be boring at the very least, yet here he was. The only difference between this and one of Sam’s ‘nature hikes’ was that Danny couldn’t see anything through the damned purple mist.
Or could he?
Danny squinted his eyes, catching something moving just to his left. It was very much hidden, the deep purple of its cloak camouflaged perfectly against the swirling purples all around him. He took a step closer, off the path, and felt the air still around him.
A voice, haunting and deep, startled him.
“A quick learner,” it said.
Danny felt his mouth go dry. There was actually someone here, someone that might not be human. Someone that could summon a door into a kids room for half a decade waiting for them to open it.
Someone who might have answers.
Danny stepped closer, and the mist seemed to gather, catching on itself and folding into a physical shape. The hooded figure. Danny forced himself not to blink. It felt like anything was possible, that if he looked away, he’d miss too much to make sense of it later.
The hooded figure turned to him and beckoned with one gloved hand, the other holding a twisting, intricate staff covered in shapes and symbols Danny couldn’t quite make out. Danny didn’t step any closer.
It was clear this man wasn’t human, or at the very least hadn’t been for some time. The only thing Danny could see hidden under the cloak was an old clock. But even then, Danny couldn’t tell whether it was something he was wearing on his chest or if it simply was his chest and there was nothing else.
“You’re still cautious, even now when you’ve already made your decision?” the figure asked. “Did you not seek an answer to your curiosity?”
Danny frowned. This whatever-it-was knew more than he was comfortable with. Had he been watching from the other side? How? Is that why the door only appeared when it did? Why couldn’t he just open the door and step out if his goal was to spirit Danny away like in the stories?
There were just so many questions, and Danny still didn’t have any answers.
“Do you actually have any answers or are you just going to eat me?” he asked, growing irritated. It had been a long night, made longer by his fruitless walk, and it was starting to affect his temper.
Instead of answering, the figure lowered his arm, tilting his head to the side. “If you thought I was going to eat you, why did you come through the door? You’ve been very good at ignoring it so far.”
“Yeah see,” Danny said, throwing up his hands, “that kind of stuff only makes you sound more creepy and suspicious, you know! If your goal is child eating you should set up, idk a candy house or something. Pretend to be a grandma, I hear that works wonders provided you stay out of your own oven.”
The figure laughed. It sounded, off, not like a noise Danny recognized, but more like a collage of sounds: a ticking clock chiming with heavy clanking clockwork all wrapped in canary song and it vibrated all the way through Danny from the top of his head to the tips of his toes. It filled the air around them much like the mist once did and Danny felt glee himself, caught up as he was.
He looked up desperately at the figure, trying to keep ahold of himself and how he truly felt, lost in the sudden sea of emotion. The figure’s cloak was bunched up, as if he was doubled over in laughter, his gloves clutching at his staff and the entire collection shaking with slight tremors.
The hood turned towards him, empty, and Danny’s panic spiked. The laughter stopped, and the figure stood once more, pulling the hood further down and hiding the nothingness underneath.
“I apologize,” he said, sincere. “It’s been some time since I’ve felt in such good humor, and you took me off guard. I hope you didn’t get too swept away?”
Danny, who was still definitely feeling the effects of the other’s laughter, shook his head no. “I’m alright. I just- what are you?”
“I am like Clockwork,” he answered readily. “Though the question you should be asking, Daniel, is what are you? That is a much more interesting answer.”
Disagreeing vehemently, Danny shook his head. Like Clockwork? Was that his name? Why he had a clock, er, was a clock? How did that work? What was he? Simply what his name implied? Something more? There were a billion and a half questions he wanted answers to that were more interesting than that.
Then again, there had to be a reason he said it, right? “Okay Clockwork, I’ll bite. What am I?”
He could swear the thing smiled. “You are halfway there.”

Mizeloph's Tale Chapter 9
Pairing - This story is still at the point of General Kirigan x OC Sun Summoner, but we are slowly getting closer to Kaz Brekker x OC Sun Summoner
Summary - Anna is making sure that she is not a force to be pushed over. She and Zoya go head to head with an outcome that no one was really expecting. When Anna needs it most there is comfort, but the challenge is thinking which one impacted her the most?
Word Count - 2314
-
Anna had wanted to do a little bit of exploring, she hadn’t seen much of the Little Palace since she had arrived. However, she always seemed to have a couple of guards following her wherever she went and stopping her from leaving. As Anna went to try again and go outside they blocked her from going out, as she finally decided to say something two Grisha girls came up behind her and wrapped their arms around one of hers.
“Anna! There you are” Nadia said
“We’ve been looking for you, but you always seem to be one step ahead of us” Marie smiled while holding onto Anna’s arm “I am Marie and this is Nadia” she introduced
Anna nodded looking between the two girls “do you know why they won’t let me outside? I just want to explore a little” she felt like a well kept captive, she hadn’t been outside on the Little Palace grounds since she had arrived
“You’re supposed to be training right now, Are you really a mapmaker?” Marie asked
“Were you really attacked by Fjerdans?” Nadia followed asking after her friend
“How many Fjerdans did you kill” Marie wanted to know any details
“You have it all wrong, I didn’t kill anyone. I didn’t even get much of a chance when I was dragged out of the carriage and almost killed..” Anna hated that she couldn’t even hold herself in a fight against the Drüskelle, Anna didn’t really think throwing a punch against the axe wielding Drüskelle would have given her much of a fighting chance “I have fought before in the past, but it was nothing like what happened..”
“If that is so, then I am glad we intervened” Marie smiled
“Welcome to the first part of your new daily schedule” Nadia looked at all of the Grisha who were working
Both Nadia and Marie sighed “Combat training” they said at the same time then let go of Anna’s arms
Anna watched as Grisha around her worked on combat training, some of it looked familiar from what she had done a few years ago. She might not have continued professionally because her drawing skills outshined how she fought, but she still tried to practice. In the moment when the Drüskelle had attacked she had the skills to defend herself, but with a combination of shock from her life changing and just a moment of panic she didn’t.
Botkin walked up to them “Sun Summoner, all of Raven's foes want to kill you before you can destroy the Fold, it’s a great honor to have so many enemies” he brought his attention over to a Grisha who was next to him
“Well, what a warm welcome, is this normal?” Anna said under her breath
Nadia nodded “unfortunately yes”
Botkin looked back over to Anna once he was done talking with the other Grisha “do you know how to fight?”
“I’ve had a few years of training but nothing much” her training had started in Ketterdam when she was on her own. A child fighting every day in order to make it through, but it was not anything formal. It did allow her to learn a natural way of being more light on her feet and quick to react to anything thrown at her in a fist fight. When she crossed the Fold and got older, Mal was able to introduce her to more formal training. Anna carried both experiences with her in any fight, but when her drawing skills were picked up by officials she became a map maker. She never complained about the change, but she definitely had to make more time so then she did not lose when life had taught her
“Alright, if you have some experience then show me, pick an opponent” he said stepping back
Anna looked at a few Grisha and nodded her head to Zoya “her”
“Zoya Nazyalensky, I’ve been training her since she was 10” Botkin stepped back allowing the two girls to face each other
“Care to back down?” Zoya smirked a little
“No, you might be surprised by what I can do” Anna knew that Zoya had more training, but Anna had the life experience to pack up her training
Anna set herself up, with her thumbs protected by her first, Zoya stood and watched her. When both girls decided to not charge in at once Anna decided to bait Zoya in “come on, I was expecting something more, after all I should be an easy target but you are just standing there like a clueless girl” Zoya was already angry at Anna for being the center of attention surrounding General Kirigan so in blind rage she went up to Anna and threw a punch at her face. Anna dodged then punched Zoya and while she was taken aback by the punch Anna spun around angling her foot so she would kick Zoya in her calf, which caused Zoya to fall. Zoya held her leg when she landed on the ground, she had completely underestimated Anna and now she was paying the price.
A Healer went to Zoya but she brushed them off “I’m fine” she gets up and is ready for another fight
Anna got ready again “are you sure Zoya?”
“Just come at me already!” Zoya was not having it and wanted to prove she was still one of the better fighters
Anna got close and swung with her left hand first knowing that Zoya would doge then quickly punched her square in the nose with her right hand. She then used her foot to trip Zoya as she stumbled back, Zoya landed on her back. Zoya had not been expecting to be completely humiliated by Anna on the first day. Anna was also not expecting to do as well as she did, she thought at most she might land one punch. Anna walked over to Zoya and held her hand out for Zoya to take, Zoya surprisingly took Anna's hand and she pulled her up.
“I might be Ketterdam trash, but you will always be second place” Anna pulled away from Zoya
Zoya was beyond angry, it was true that Anna had kicked her ass, she could tell now that Anna would not be standing for any bullshit. She could feel this anger that was building in her chest, first it was the attention of General Kirigan, and now Anna was showing she was the better fighter from today. In the moment she did not care about what Botkin was saying as she summoned a gust of wind and threw it at Anna.
Anna gasped when she landed in the hay, she heard Maria yell her name “Anna!” her two new friends helped her up
“Please tell me you are ok” Nadia said
“Are you ok?” Maria asked, they both helped brush hay out of Anna’s hair
“Yeah I’m fine, but that was a cheap shot on her end” Anna knew that she had slightly antagonized Zoya, but she could not stand what she had said to her after the demonstration and this was her getting even
“She’s just jealous, can’t bear the idea of anyone else being favored by General Kirigan” Maria said taking another piece of hay out of Anna's hair
“I don’t know why she waste her time pining over him when she could have me” Nadia said, Anna smiled at her
“Oh I am sure she is kicking herself now” Anna watched as Botkin scolded Zoya in front of everyone
“What were you thinking Zoya?! Against the Sun Summoner? Have you lost your mind? You lost the fight fair and square, that was completely uncalled for. She’s not the enemy any more than I am! Go!” he shoved Zoya off, she looked over at Anna for a second then began to walk away to get checked on by a Healer
“Are you hurt? Should we take you in to get checked?” Maria asked
“I think I’m fine, she never really landed anything on me when we were fighting, maybe if I go lay down in my room I will feel a bit better” Anna walked off to her room
She walked through the halls, taking a bit longer to get back to her room, it was nice to see a bit more of the palace. Anna wished that she could see more beyond the walls, but right now she knew that laying down would be the best option. Once she got to her room and walked over to her bed she saw a book on her pillow, specifically a sketchbook. She walked over to it and picked it up, Anna ran her fingers over the embroidered golden sun. Anna opened the cover and a letter fell out, she picked it up and read it.
Anna,
Genya told me that you had asked her about a sketchbook, so I thought I would give you this one as a memento for beginning your new life. I am sorry I could not give this to you in person like I had planned, but you were being called to training and I did not want to disturb you.
I hope you enjoy this sketchbook.
Sincerely,
General Kirigan
Anna smiled at the note and set it down on her bedside table, she didn’t realize how much she needed this. She flipped through the book looking at all of the blank pages that she could now fill with drawings of the Little Palace and more. Something she had been thinking about was the Stag that had been in her dreams lately. Anna thought that would be a nice first drawing for her new sketchbook, the stag was a creature that always gave her more questions than answers. However, no matter where she went that dream seemed to appear when she was feeling lost. It was as if the stag was guiding her to where she needed to be. As she finished the sketch of the stag she realized that there was someone she was thinking about, it was Kazie. The one who had always been at her side when she was young, sketching him was something she had thought about. As she began to sketch him how she remembered, it was as if a memory had been unlocked.
-
Anna was sitting with a piece of paper she had stolen and a chunk of coal that she had been using as a tool to draw. Her inspiration was the little boy that was sitting across from her, he hadn’t known she was drawing him until he moved slightly.
“Hey!” A young Anna said “you messed up the drawing..” she had gotten a good sketch down, but was about to start the details.
“How did I mess up the drawing? You didn’t even tell me you were doing it, maybe tell me next time” Kaz said
Anna pouted a little “cause I wanted it to be a surprise…”
Kaz sighed “I’m sorry Anna” he walked over to her and pulled her into a hug
Anna hugged back “it’s ok, I can always try to draw you again” she showed Kaz what she had so far and he was impressed
“Wow this is great” Kaz smiled and continued to look at the drawing
They continued to look at the drawing Anna had made, it was a bit rough because it was just a sketch and not the completed drawing. As Anna examined her work it make her think of something that she never really thought of.
“Kazie?” Anna looked up at the boy
“Yes Anna?” Kaz looked down at her “what is it?”
“I was just wondering.. If we break our promise to stay together and we meet as adults, how will we know.. You know..”
Kaz thought about what she was asking, he never wanted to be away from her, but in the worst case scenario.. “Your hair of course, you know it’s my favorite”
Anna smiled and touched a strand of her hair then looked at Kaz facial features “well, for me it would be your eyes, if I could recognize anything it would be your eyes”
Kaz nodded “but you know we will never break our promise right? We will always be by each other's side”
“I know, but I guess in the worst case scenario, but we will definitely always be together” Anna said
Anna got up and grabbed one of the blankets they had stashed, she laid down and laid the blanket over them. Kaz pulled her close wrapping his arms around her, he always enjoyed being this close and could never imagine not liking this. It was their thing to do and neither of them ever wanted to stop, there were times when they fell asleep like this. For both of them, it was when they were at their most vulnerable and asleep they relied on each other to protect one another from any danger.
-
Anna loved that memory with Kaz, it fueled her to draw the young boy she remembered from Ketterdam. When she had been brought to the orphanage it was difficult for her to make friends not only because she had hair like snow, but also because none of the children were Kaz. Mal and Alina were there for her and so it eventually became easier, however in the beginning she was struggling. Once she slowed down on her sketch of the young Kaz she remembered Anna looked at the eyes she had drawn. Those eyes would be the key to identifying Kaz if she ever saw him again. She closed her sketchbook and looked out the window seeing the sun was beginning to set. Anna got herself ready to go to bed, she changed into the new nightgown she had been given and laid down. She closed her eyes and for one night she was able to have a dreamless rest.

Cliche Mini-Series: Patronus
Draco X Reader
Requested: @shadowsingeraxolotl Okay, so they're all in 8th year or something and everyone are practicing their patronusus and they match and everyone is in awe because they are the most powerful ones they've ever seen? Like an alternate soulmark but better because they realize that Draco is so soft
A/N: Y’all sure do have a lot of cliches you want to see, so here’s the first one that sparked my interest. It will not be the last I promise, but please enjoy these two kids falling in love and healing after the war.
Tumblr media
Okay so it’s 8th year
Everyone is a little tense, and the castle looks new but everything just feels wrong
McGonagall created an entire new wing for the 8th years so that they could get away from the haunting that the war left in the old castle
And the House Cup was done away with and first years were allowed to pick houses and others were allow to declare house-less or switched as they saw fit fight me on this I dare you
Which meant that the few 8th years who decided to come back all declared to be house-less because f*ck destiny and who they were supposed to be. They just wanted to be kids goddamnit
That doesn’t mean that you’re not a little surprised when Draco declares house-less. You thought he’d want to stay Slytherin
You catch his eyes and there’s no light in them and your heart just hurts
War was hell, and being trapped on the wrong side had to be the depths of Tartarus
McGonagall keeps a dozen Mind Healers on staff this year, for obvious reasons
Which is where you run into Draco often. You’re craving a therapy session and he has to—court mandated.
You wave and he gives you a curt nod. He’s in most of your classes now that you were both house-less so you’re peers, maybe acquaintances
True to Harry’s nature, he’s suspicious of Malfoy at all times, and well maybe you pick up a few habits of looking after Draco as well—but in a different manor
You make sure he eats, and gets to class, and stays awake in class for that matter, then you make sure he gets to bed. All by gentle questions or offering to go with him to meals or class etc (“hey, I haven’t eaten dinner, wanna come with?” “You have Flitwick with me... wanna walk together?” “It’s late, I’m sure the book will be there in the morning,” “I made too much tea, do you want some?”)
He notes your kindness but only mentions it to his Mind Healer. He’s confused as to why you’re being kind and doesn’t know if he likes it or not (he’s also a bit better with his emotions since he’s in therapy) y’all get therapy it’s amazing
“Well, you could ask her about it,” the Healer suggests. Except he didn’t understand how much Draco could not do that because he wasn’t confrontational anymore
Instead he decides to extend the same kindness to you. As an olive branch. You spill ink all over your paper in shock when he asks you to dinner. He quickly vanishes the ink with a flick of his hand
Now you two sort of get dinner together. Like all the time. It’s just something that normal and routine. You talk about your days, your classes, and Draco feels... normal. Like you’re not gawking at him, not afriad of him, you don’t hate him, and he’s pretty sure this isn’t some sort of ploy
fuck canon. Remus Lupin isn’t dead and neither is Sirius. I am the queen of this blog and my word is law.
Remus teaches DADA because he loves teaching and now that the job isn’t jinxed and McGonagall knows he needs a break from 24/7 Sirius to maintain his sanity, he teaches
And of course he adores his 8th years
He teaches a wide range of defense spells, but to pass his class with full marks all you have to do is summon a patronus. Corporeal or not.
Draco, though still quite flawless in about everything else, struggles with casting a patronus. A lot of 8th years do as well, so he’s not singled out, even if he is a bit frustrated
Remus understands that after a war this is hard for his kids, so he allows them to take a day and go to the lake instead of class for fun in the sun and to make new and safer memories
“Aren’t you coming?” You ask Draco who’s sitting alone in the common room sulking. “No,” he mutters. “Why not? Lupin is taking attendance, you have to come,”
“No, I don’t.” He snaps.
He really doesn’t want to go. He doesn’t want to swim. He doesn’t want to take his shirt off or wear short sleeves. He doesn’t want to be gawked at because of his Mark or his numerous scars. He’d rather save himself the panic attack.
“Come with me?” You try weakly. “You don’t have to swim. I’m not going to, but maybe just sit out there? We can read? Or talk? Or something?” You know it’s a lost cause. You sigh. “We’ll miss you Draco—I’ll miss you,” you offer a small smile and head down to the lake downcast.
And maybe Draco misses you with each step that you walk away from him. Maybe it’s so unbearable that he curses himself and you before stalking down the the lakeside beach.
Meanwhile you’re perched under a tree reading a book. “Couldn’t get him to come down huh?” Lupin asks. “Sorry Professor,” you give a weak smile. “Don’t worry about it. I know it’s gonna take Draco a bit longer to get on his feet again. In fact I’d be surprised if—” Lupin stops mid sentence.
“Professor?” You ask. “Well I’ll be a mandrakes uncle,” Lupin grins, nodding to someone in the distance. You turn and see a familiar head of white blond hair heading towards you.
Ignoring Lupin completely you jump up and run over to Draco, pulling him into a hug, before remembering yourself as you take a step away awkwardly.
“I’m glad you came,” you stammer. “Me too,” his cheeks are flushed slightly pink as you two sit under the tree together.
True to your word, you two do read. He reads some sort of wizard classic literature and you read a muggle classic: Pride and Prejudice because you need a break from magic and spells
Draco asks you about your book and you explain a bit of it to him, saying that he would probably enjoy it, despite its muggle origins. He eyes the book and you skeptically but asks if he can borrow it when you’re finished with it
You two are mostly left alone for the afternoon, except always under the watchful eye of Harry who is still convinced that Malfoy is up to something
Your patronus charm is now incorporeal. You jump excitedly and the charm falls. Draco, who’s next to you, is quite surprised by the hug he gets tackled with by a very elated you.
Which leads to more awkward blushing and apologies.
“So you and Malfoy?” Harry asks one night while you’re alone. “I... I don’t like it.” “Oh come on Harry, don’t you think if he was going to do something he would have? He’s just trying to move on like the rest of us,” your voice is venemous and cold as you glare the golden boy down.
Draco sees you and Harry talking alone at night and gets the wrong idea before rushing away not understanding why that hurt so badly. He feels betrayed. You were the one person he thought was on his side and now you were skirting around with Potter.
You notice immediately that Draco has closed himself off to you and you worry. “Is everything okay?” “Ask Potter,” Draco snaps. “You seemed pretty cozy with him the other night.”
Then it hits you. “We’re you spying on me?” The thought is quickly dismissed. “Draco, Harry came up to me bitching about you. And I told him to drop it and leave you alone because you deserve your place here like the rest of us,”
Well you hadn’t said exactly that, there was a bit more swearing involved but the sentiment was there
“You... you defended me,” he’s in disbelief. “Yes,” you groan. “Now will you stop sulking and come and get dinner with me?”
“I’ve already eaten,” he mutters. You raise an eyebrow at him. “Draco,” you press. “Please,”
“I’ll never understand how you can tell when I’m lying,” he grumbles, standing. “You don’t look me in the eye,” you laugh, walking towards the great hall.
The trips to the lake become a Friday thing for 8th years and Remus. To give the kids a break and to let them blow off a little steam.
You know Draco isn’t comfortable going again and you don’t want to either so, you talk to Lupin and work out a deal.
“Are you coming?” You ask him, dressed in your old quidditch robes. “You’re going to the lake in that?” He asks skeptically. “And no I’m not going,”
“I’m not going to the lake,” you smile, perching on the back of a couch. “So, are you coming?”
“Where are you going?” He asks. “Oh come on you’re a smart bloke, put two and two together.” You laugh and take off down the hall towards the quidditch pitch.
You’ve done a few laps when Draco joins you in the air. “This is stupid,” he declares. “Yeah,” you smile. “But it’s fun!”
Draco sighs and his resolve fades and soon he’s smiling and chasing after you in a one on one game of catch-the-snitch
And honestly it is fun. Draco’s laughing and flying with you and he almost forgets that he’s supposed to be Seeking.
And when you fly closer to him, staring into his eyes, beaming, he does everything he can to remember to keep flying. You’re inches from him. You reach out and his heart is stammering.
Then you grab something next to his head and laugh victoriously showing him the snitch.
“Oh come on that was cheating!” He whines, chasing after you towards the field floor.
“It’s not my fault you were staring at me like I was Potter!” You call back. “Although I hope you don’t hate me,” you land softly on the grass and Draco is caught off guard by your words and why would he ever hate you and he crashes into you
“Draco!” You scold, and he thinks he’s hurt you and that you’re crying but no you’re laughing hysterically beside him
“I—are you okay?” He stammers, gaping at you. “I’m fine,” you laugh sitting up. Until you put pressure on your wrist and well maybe then you’re not fine
Draco feels awful and takes you to the infirmary, letting Pomfrey heal your broken wrist. All the while the roles are reversed and you have to convince him to calm down and that you’ll be okay man that boy is a mess
“B-but I hurt you!” He exclaims. “It was an accident Draco!” You fold your arms. “I’m not mad, please don’t be mad at yourself,” your voice softens as you take his hands. “Please?”
His eyes catch yours and he nods and you smile at him.
Since this is an every week thing, you and Draco have a rivalry going on of who’s won more matches. (The smack talk and banter is real, but all in good fun. It leaves you both laughing and smiling and onlookers completely confused because “uh, he just called you slower than a spider in roller skates” “Yeah, and he knows that it’s still faster than his blond arse” “My arse has nothing to do with it” “Oh I beg to differ,”)
Winter turns to Spring and now showers are 100% necessary for you Friday afternoons after you matches with Draco.
You pause in the locker rooms after one match and notice that Draco has shed his robes and is now shirtless before you, his back turned. Your breath catches in your throat as you see the scars that paint a gruesome image on his skin.
You don’t think he knows you’re there but his tired voice barely speaks: “I know you’re staring. It-It’s okay. I’ve... I’ve come to terms with it myself. And I think I’ve come to terms with you knowing as well.”
He turns to face you, a mask of calm on his face, his eyes holding yours.
“Harry did this?” You breathe out, taking a step toward him, your hand coming up and hesitantly tracing a scar that bends around his shoulder.
“Harry, my father, my aunt... you stop keeping track after a while,” His eyes are downcast letting you know that he knows exactly what scar is from whom.
Your hand trails down and brushes over his Dark Mark. He flinches, but his eyes don’t leave yours.
“Thank you,” You whisper. “For showing me... for trusting me enough.”
Draco’s patronus is now incorporeal.
You cheer and he wraps you into a hug this time and you’re shocked for a moment before hugging him back
You’re currently tied on your catch-the-snitch matches and today marks the tie breaker and the winner it’s just too hot to keep doing it during class time in the afternoon.
“D-Do you want to go to Hogsmeade with me, tomorrow?” Draco stammers one Friday afternoon. “Sure,” You smile, “A bunch of our friends are going, were you planning on not going?”
Draco purses his lips because of course you’re going to make this hard for him.
“I meant with me. Just me. As a... date?” He’s flushed bright pink and it has nothing to do with the heat.
“I thought you’d never ask,” You grin and zoom off after the snitch and he’s left chasing you wondering and asking what the hell you meant by that.
He ends up catching the snitch and is completely distracted from his victory because what did you mean you thought he’d never ask????
“Draco, stars above you’re so dense,” you dismay and grab the front of his robes and pull him over and press your lips to his
It causes him to let the snitch go and pull you closer. And maybe the two of you spend the afternoon kissing thousands of feet above the ground.
You two enter the Common Room, hand in hand and a cheer is let up as well as bet money being exchanged. Draco is flushed pink, and so are you, but you just smile and roll your eyes back Hogwarts is starting to feel like home again
And oh he absolutely spoils you at Hogsmeade the next day. And you have to admit, as much as you like gifts, it’s so much more to see him happy about buying them for you.
Harry is sulking about the entire thing, and now has been jeering at you and Draco and most times Draco stops you from punching the golden boy in the face.
“I did it to him for years,” Draco murmurs. “Doesn’t make it right,” You hiss back, glaring at Harry.
A few others take the same idea as Harry and start to taunt Draco about his long sleeves in the warm weather. Draco never rises to the bait but you can see that it wears at him. You just hold his hand a little tighter and maybe send a few wandless, nonverbal hexes their way,
It draws the line one day when Harry with a few other 8th years stop you and Draco in the halls. Draco, you can tell is close to having a panic attack because it’s not the first one of his that you’ve witnessed and you just go off
“What is wrong with you!?” You scream at Harry. “At least he’s trying to get better! At least he’s changed! You might have saved the world but you’re nothing but a bully!” There are tears in your eyes as Draco places his hands at your waist, steadying you and himself. “And maybe he would wear a t-shirt if you hadn’t tried to kill him a few years ago with Dark Magic that left its mark all over him! Did you ever think of that!?”
Harry is gaping at you, shocked. Draco pulls you down the hall and it’s not far before he’s breaking down into a panic attack in your arms. You stroke his hair as you let him cry out all his tears, then you walk him through breathing exercises and five-things-five-senses (Grounding)
After this Harry backs the fluff off (and eventually apologizes and goes to Mind Healing himself because you were right, he needed to get better too.)
You and Draco become more comfortable around another and in public. Which leads to cuddling in the common room or kissing in the halls And no one can deny that you and Draco are just sweet and perfect together
Out of the blue but not really because Harry had a hand in it Lupin talks privately to Draco about his scars and they sort of have a therapy session themselves. Sirius talks to you and gives you advice about how to help Draco through overcoming his fears and self doubt about his scars and now you two have sort of been adopted by these two dads)
It’s the last day of DADA and Lupin makes all of his 8th years cast a patronus and you and Draco do it together and everyone stares in complete and utter awe at the two dragons coiling around each other filling up almost the entire room
You and Draco are in shock too, but soon, smug smiles fall on both of your faces because, yeah... those are two souls sworn and bound to protect another. Two fighters. Two dragons.
You also tease Draco about his name and the dragon for the rest of his life which always ends with him growing frustrated and kissing you to shut you up and then the both of you get a little carried away... but it’s fine. The castle is enormous and there are plenty of empty classrooms

Thomas Hewitt x Reader (Part 10)
Tumblr media
When you opened your eyes, the sun was already rising. You felt a pleasant warmth exuding from beside you. You rubbed your eyes to get a clear vision of what, or well who was in bed with you. You saw Thomas peacefully snoring by your side. Then the memories from the last night flooded your mind as you realized you were still both naked. Your first reaction was to panic, but then you noticed something you ignored before. Something on Thomas’s body. You had a clear view of his arm in daylight, and as you inspected his skin, you saw scars... not a few of them, but a whole bunch. These scars covered his whole arm, some were deep, and some looked quite new.
“Oh my god...” you gasped at your discovery. Your heart ached for Thomas. Right now, you had a strong urge to protect him, no matter how ridiculous it seemed. You were still a victim, but you felt less like one after every moment spent with Thomas. Maybe you felt a sense of responsibility? You believed that you could help Thomas and ease his pain... If you ran away, it would mean you betray him. You would be like all the others who stabbed him in the back. You tenderly ran your fingers through his hair.
“Tommy...” you whispered, clenching your teeth. You were split between your past and future... you missed your life, freedom, family, and friends. But then there was this man, this murderous cannibal who made your heart inexplicably flutter. You checked his arm one more time and gave him a soft kiss on the deepest scar.
“Maybe if we met sooner.” you pondered about his past. Right, if you two met under different circumstances. You placed your head back onto the pillow and turned to your side as you decided to sleep a bit more.
“Ahh...” you yelped as Thomas unexpectedly turned around to hug you from behind. But then you just smiled and closed your eyes, enjoying his presence.
*
When you woke up again, Thomas was gone, and so was every other evidence that would suggest he was ever next to you. Maybe it really didn’t happen, and it was just a dream? You stretched your arms and looked out of the window. The sun was already remarkably high up in the sky. You yearned for the freedom outside the walls of this house.
“You had a choice...” you sighed for yourself when you remembered how close you were to escape last night. But you didn’t turn the doorknob. You didn’t open the door. Were you really out of your mind? You didn’t understand yourself anymore. Everything you did was against natural human instincts. You stepped out of bed only to realize that your ankle is cuffed again.
“All right...” you teared up uncontrollably as you slipped down from the bed, landing on your knees. You saw your suitcase on the floor next to you, so you decided to rummage through your past.  After putting on a dress and underwear, you found a diary that captured your attention, so you opened it and read.
“This road trip sucks so far; I am fairly sure they invited me only for my money. Nobody really talks with me. I swear this is the last time I am going somewhere with Emma...” was the last written paragraph. You wrote it before you threw the diary into the suitcase as you were dizzy from writing in the van, but you were frustrated, so you had to. Now you didn’t have any of your good friends or family with you so that you couldn’t share your feelings with anyone... it wouldn’t hurt if you wrote something again, right? You needed to cleanse yourself somehow.
“I was kidnapped by a local sheriff in this weird town in Texas after we had an accident on the road. Even though I am quite sure it’s not a real sheriff. This family killed Emma and the others and ate them... There are four of them... and I...” you couldn’t bring yourself to write that you purposefully missed an opportunity to escape because you had feelings for the guy who kills and butchers humans. You scrapped the idea of writing any further and stabbed the page with your pen... and again and few more times until the rest of the diary was destroyed. You threw it away and climbed back to bed. You were hungry, and you really wanted to use the bathroom, but you didn’t dare to call someone as you didn’t want Hoyt to be the one to answer you. You thought about yesterday, when you felt like more than a victim, today the reality dawned on you and mentally destroyed you. You wished Thomas would be here. You wanted to tell him how you felt about your needs. Why wasn’t he there with you?
*
Thomas wasn’t pleased about the situation either. Hoyt was searching for him in the morning, and when he couldn’t find him in the basement, he went looking for him in your room. He found you both in the same bed, and you weren’t even cuffed. He gestured for Thomas to immediately come out and then scolded him to no end.
“What do ya think yer doin’ Thomas? Sleepin’ in the same bed as yer bitch? Didn’t ya learn anythin’?” Hoyt rumbled. He was furious. To him, you were an outsider, a piece of meat. If Thomas really wanted to fuck you, it was for the sake of satisfaction and not some lovemaking shit. You would become dinner eventually anyway. Then Hoyt sent Thomas to the basement and told him to stay there as he wasn’t in the mood for his face, which obviously hurt Thomas, but he complied. Hoyt decided to take away some comfort from you, so Thomas couldn’t see you or let you out of the room. Plus, you didn’t receive any food.
*
But Hoyt left on patrol, and someone in the house didn’t like the idea of you starving to death. You heard a light knock on the door.
“C-come in.” You stuttered nervously.
“Good mornin’ darlin’.” You saw Luda Mae standing in the door frame with a plate and cup in her hands.
“Charlie isn’t in a good mood today.” she sighed. “But I can’t let ya starve now, can I?” she smiled at you while coming closer. You were so relieved. It wasn’t Hoyt, and Luda brought food.
“Is Thomas okay?” you said as you took the meal from her.
“Oh, m’dear y/n.” she smiled when you mentioned her son.
“He’s in the basement. I think they argued with Charlie. He ordered him to stay out of his sight today,” she explained with a pained expression.
“Why doesn’t he come out when Hoyt’s gone?” you asked curiously. Luda sighed again. “Hoyt locked him in there and took the key. Ya know darlin’, Hoyt doesn’t take no disrespect and ma boy Tommy was acting up. As much as I disapprove of this, my hands are tied. Charlie has the last word in this family. I couldn’t stop what they did to Monty, either.” She complained.
“What happened to Monty?” you asked despite having an idea.
“He got shot by a biker, and Charlie forced Thomas to treat him...” she made it sound so innocent, even though Monty was missing both of his legs. She really didn’t want to portray her son as evil. And you didn’t think of him that way either. You nodded while you ate the bread she gave you to let her know that you were paying attention.
*
After you finished the breakfast, well brunch, Luda Mae returned to take the empty plate and cup.
“Darlin’, I can tell that my boy Thomas likes your company. I only want the best for Tommy. He gave me this.” she took a small key out of her pocket. It was key to your freedom.
“But ya know I am just a weak old woman now, and I know Charlie would be furious if you escaped.” she was very unsure of her actions. You didn’t understand a thing. Luda uncuffed you, so you could use the bathroom and take a shower. You didn’t want to cause her trouble. If Hoyt could do what he did to Monty, you didn’t even want to imagine what fate awaited Luda if you ran away because of her.
*
“I know it must be borin’ to stay in that room all day alone, darlin’.” Luda Mae said as she washed the dishes in the kitchen. You were standing next to her, leaning on the wall.
“Would you mind helpin’ me around the house today?” Luda Mae looked at you and raised her eyebrow.
“Of course, anything.” You replied and smiled at her. How could you say no to her? And so you spent the day cleaning the house with Luda. Honestly, it was for your own good as well, because from the first time you arrived you’ve thought that the house is really filthy. However, you understood that Luda was already an older woman, and the house was huge, so it must’ve been hard for her to be the only one taking care of the household.
*
You were proud of yourself when you finished. Even Monty seemed to approve of your hard work.
“Good work, m’dear!” Luda cheerfully announced when she looked around the now clean living room. The feelings creeping on you this morning were gone, and you felt more like an actual human being rather than a piece of meat again. You weren’t cuffed, and you basically spent some family time with Luda and Monty. Your moment of happiness was abruptly interrupted by the sound of an arriving car. It was Hoyt, and when you looked closely out of the window, it seemed that he wasn’t alone. There were two guys and a girl with him in the car. Luda quickly pushed you up the stairs to make sure Hoyt doesn’t see you. You rushed to your room and looked out of the window. Apparently, Hoyt locked them in the car because he came to the porch alone. Luda opened the door and let him in. He didn’t even realize how clean the house was. He just went straight to the basement door to summon Thomas.
“Come on, Tommy, move yer ass and help me out here!” he shouted and then walked back to the car. You were still looking out of the window but concentrated on the noises coming from downstairs as well. Hoyt opened the door for the girl sitting in a passenger seat and let the guys out of the car too. They seemed okay, and Hoyt was actually polite? You didn’t understand the scene unfolding before your eyes. And then he saw you. One of the boys looked up, and he saw you staring at them from the window. But before he could do anything, Hoyt grabbed the girl and pointed a gun to her head. Both guys were visibly shocked. They genuinely believed he was a sheriff helping them until this point. Then you heard loud footsteps, and Thomas stormed out of the house with a chainsaw in his hand. The guys tried to run away, but Hoyt shot one of them to his calf. The other turned around to help his friend, but only a bullet to his shoulder awaited him. Thomas grabbed one of the wounded guys and threw him on his shoulder, and then he disappeared into the house. You figured he took him to the basement. Hoyt took the redhaired girl into the house too, and the guy who has been shot to his leg was crawling in pain away from the house. He was desperately slow. You heard screams of the girl and Hoyt’s footsteps as he struggled to bring her up the stairs to his room. You quietly went to the door and peeked out as you opened them. Hoyt didn’t notice as he was too busy with the girl who was screaming and kicking everywhere around herself. But she saw you.
“Help me! Please, you, help me!” she stared at you with despair in her eyes as she tried to get out of Hoyt’s grip. Your eyes widened, and you instinctively closed the door. You covered your ears in a futile attempt to prevent the girl’s voice from reaching you. You knew well what awaited her with Hoyt. Meanwhile, Thomas got the other guy who tried crawling again. And that was it, you couldn’t see anything else, and you could only think about what was happening in the house. The girl’s screams didn’t fade at all, and the revving of the chainsaw was piercing your ears as well.  You wanted it to end finally, but then you heard a loud thump as the basement door burst open, and Luda’s voice echoed in the living room as she was screaming Thomas’s name.
“Tommy! Hoyt! Hoyt, come down!”
You opened the door again and stepped out of the room. The girl was still screaming, and Hoyt was nowhere to be seen. He probably didn’t hear Luda. You couldn’t hear Luda as well now. You braced yourself for the worst outcome as you ran down the stairs only to find Luda tied up to a chair with a rug in her mouth.
You gasped… what was happening? Then you saw him, the guy who has been shot in his shoulder standing in the kitchen with a bloodied knife, Thomas nowhere to be found.
a/n:  Now what, you and another victim together in a kitchen... I am sorry for the cliff hanger, but the chapter would be too long, but I am in the mood for writing, so will post the next chapter tomorrow.

The telltale sound of metal colliding with metal rang out through the Domino courtyard. Grunts and muffled curses flew from the mouth of both Oritel and Valtor as they rolled across the grassy surface in order to avoid close contact with a blade of the opposing fighter. Oritel slashed the air, only inches away from Valtor’s face, as Valtor side stepped and gripped the handle of his sword with both hands before bringing it up full force. The sheer force two swords collided with was enough to push both men slightly apart and send Oritel’s sword hurtling away from the king.
Valtor threw away his own sword and pounced straight onto the distracted king, his quick moments pinning surprised Oritel to the ground as his knee pressed into the king’s back, effectively defeating him.
“I yield!”
Valtor scrambled off of him and stood back as Oritel climbed back on his feet. The two nodded to each other and went separate ways to pick up their swords again. Valtor wiped the slight perspiration from his brow with the sleeve of his crisp white shirt as he bent down to pick up his discarded sword. He turned back around and stood up straight as Oritel’s voice rang out. “Again?”
Valtor lifted an eyebrow in question but nodded nonetheless. “Again.”
The two both rushed forward, once again engaging in a fierce battle, very much alike the one Valtor got his posterior handed to him by a company of light. While both men had similar strategies and moves, Valtor’s experience and slightly superior training made him the victor in majority of fights he had with Oritel. While Valtor wanted nothing more than to slice Oritel into pieces with his sword, an instinct that was most likely present on both sides, he held back because Bloom most certainly wouldn’t approve of such idea…
The hostility was still very much present between the two, further complicated by the fact that Valtor was openly dating Bloom, and that alone was enough to make Oritel angry enough to become dangerous, especially when he had a potentially deadly weapon in his hands. And while the king himself presented a challenge, it was nowhere near the threat he posed when teamed up with his fellow warriors.
A cheerful laugh Valtor associated with only one person sounded somewhere near and Valtor made a cardinal mistake of loosing focus for a split second. For someone trained to spot openings, like Valror himself, the split second was all Oritel needed and he grasped the chance with both hands. As Valtor’s eyes slid back to his opponent, he was met with a dangerous glimmer blade made when exposed to the sun. Valtor knew that remaining calm and strategically avoiding threat is what he was supposed to do, but survival instinct had the habit of creeping up on people and throwing all of the precious training into the mud. Just as sharp edge of the blade was about to make a gash on his cheek, Valtor threw himself in the opposite direction, his arm shooting up blindly and firing a spell at Oritel’s sword, effectively knocking the weapon out of the king’s hand.
Valtor landed on his back, his muscles further tense from the adrenaline, colliding with the hard ground in a rather painful manner. The force with which he came to kiss the ground was enough to make his vision go black from pain for a second. He swallowed a verbal response, not wanting to give Oritel the satisfaction, as he rolled over on his stomach and jumped right back on his feet while ignoring pulses of pain rushing up his spine.
Oritel stood in shock, his eyes running between his discarded sword and the wizard shooting daggers at him with his eyes. He locked eyes with Valror, whose eyebrows were shaped in a frown as beads of sweat began forming on his forehead. The staring contest was broken when Bloom came rushing towards them, her eyes looking over both of them worriedly before they settled on Valtor.
“Are you okay?” She asked as her eyes ran over his tense form.
Valtor felt like someone was pressing a burning hot iron on his spine but managed to summon a response that wasn’t shaky. “I am.” He experimentally shifted weight from one foot to the other but the action almost made him pass out. “Excuse me.”
The phrase was directed more towards Oritel, who followed his daughter’s actions regarding him, as he shuffled carefully towards the palace. Every step sent another wave of pain to his back but he bit the inside of his cheek to prevent himself from expressing the discomfort. He noticed Bloom’s eyes observing him carefully as he passed her, his fingers grazing hers lightly. He hoped that the hot shower will at least ease the pain and make it a bit more bearable, because otherwise he had no idea how he would hide it from Bloom.
When he made it to the shower he used magic to remove his clothes, which he almost never did, and stepped inside as the steam started forming. The water was almost scolding but even heat didn’t help because Valtor could still feel everything. In fact, now that the adrenaline was wearing off he felt it even more. He gritted his teeth and leaned his forehead against the cool wall.
Valtor stood under the stream of hot water for good fifteen minutes, hoping that the pain would go away. When it became obvious that that won’t happen, Valtor let out a sigh of annoyance and stepped out of the shower. He waved his hand and the humidity in the room evaporated as he stood in front of the sink that had mirror above it. He turned slowly and observed the damage that has been made. An ugly bruise already started forming along the edges, going slowly towards the spine. The area was swollen and tender but luckily nothing was broken or fractured. Valtor shook his head slowly, as even his neck protested against any movements. He snapped his fingers and dried his hair as sweatpants and white shirt appeared on his body. Normally, Valtor slept shirtless but unless he wanted to upset Bloom, shirt will have to stick around for a few days.
He stepped from the bathroom slowly, weary of his steps and almost ran headfirst into Bloom that was apparently waiting for him to come out.
“Bloom.” He gasped as she took a step towards him and wrapped her arms around him. His whole body tensed as he fought against every instinct to yelp in pain.
“Are you really ok?” She mumbled into his chest.
“Yes, I am alright.” Bloom snuggled deeper into his chest as her arms tightened around him. His eyes closed against his will as he tried to keep the tremor out of his voice.
“You’re not lying?”
“Now why would I lie to you?”
“Alright.” She whispered gently as her hold relaxed on him. “Then I’m sure you won’t mind if I do this." That was the only warning he got before Bloom’s fingers squeezed the tender flesh of his back and his knees buckled from pain.
The searing pain made him lean onto her for support as he felt his knees giving away. He didn’t even have the chance to scream in pain as his vision turned black and they both toppled to the floor under his weight. He came to his senses when he felt Bloom slap him slightly on the cheek. He was laying on his back on the thick carpet while Bloom was leaning over his form, her fingers lightly tapping his cheek.
“You were saying?”
He groaned and tried to get up but Bloom’s hands quickly took hold of his shoulders and lowered him back down.
“How did you know?” He rasped out.
She shrugged. “I saw how tense you were when you got up from the ground. Plus, if the thud you made when you impacted the ground was anything to go by…” Bloom trailed off as her hands gripped his biceps. “Can you turn over for me?”
He grunted but turned around on his stomach as Bloom shuffled around for a minute. Just as he was getting ready to ask what she’s doing, he felt her straddle the back of his thighs. Her hands removed the shirt he wore and she let out a gasp as her fingers gently touched the injured area. The muscles were stiff beneath them and Bloom found herself fascinated by the sight of his wide shoulders and defined back.
“You tell me if it hurts too much.” He was about to ask what exactly when her hands lit on fire and pleasant heat started enveloping his senses as her fingers kneaded the flesh.
Pain was the first thing he felt when her fingers started working on his back, his hands burying into the carpet and griping it tightly. Every movement sent white hot signal of pain up his spine and he, once again, found himself fighting the instinctual response telling him to just throw Bloom off his back. He endured it because he hoped the pain would lessen.
And sure enough, it wasn’t long before the paralyzing pain turned into dull ache and Valtor found himself relaxing slightly.
He moaned when she did something incredibly right and went completely still and silent when she pressed too much. Her hands worked methodically and carefully, slowly freeing section after section of his back from pain, and half an hour later or so, he was able to move without wincing every second. The pain was a lot more manageable and he rose onto his forearms as Bloom slipped off of him and brought a blanket from the bed to cover both of them. He turned onto his back again, hard floor offering the much needed support for his injured back, and Bloom took that opportunity to snuggle up into his side, one of his arms acting like her pillow.
Valtor turned his head towards Bloom and found her observing his face. He bent his arm at the elbow and brought her in closer as he pressed a lingering kiss on her forehead as a sign of gratitude.
“Thank you.” He whispered against her hairline.
“You’re welcome.” She mumbled back as she made herself more comfortable and closed her eyes, exhaustion taking its toll.

Luck is what we make it, not what is thurst upon us
Summary: There is no such thing as a bad luck, and Albedo was sure of it. To bad that Bennett didn't get the memo.
Author's note: Hello, I am very sleep deprived and maybe I am projecting on Albedo BECAUSE SOMEONE NEEDS TO HUG BENNETT
READ ON AO3
“Wait, are you serious about this?” Timaeus’ voice ranged through the room, making Sucrose jump. Albedo sighed.
“Dial your voice down, please” he said. “And I don’t see why I shouldn’t be serious about this. It’s a simple commission, and all three of us are too busy to gather those flowers. Commissioning was the most convenient way to get them on time, no?”
From his position at the table Albedo couldn’t see Timaeus but he was sure that the alchemist rolled his eyes.
“I’m not talking about you making the commission. I’m talking about who you commissioned to do this.”
Now it was Albedo’s turn to roll his eyes.
“Bennett was the only free person, as Katheryne informed me. Besides, I have overheard Fischl talking about how short on money he recently was, so I would have commissioned him even if there were other adventurers free.”
“But… Sir, don’t you think that he’s rarely commissioned for a reason?”
    Albedo huffed, annoyed.
“You are talking about his bad luck, right?” he said, finally turning around to face Timaeus. The man crossed his arms and nodded. Albedo snickered. “Well, forgive me for being a bit snarky today, but as an alchemist you should know that there’s no such thing as luck.” His lips quirked up smugly, when Timaeus physically took a step back. In the corner of his eye he saw how red Sucrose’s cheeks got. Ah, so the thought of the young adventurer’s bad luck crossed her mind as well.
It wasn’t his intention to truly scold any of his apprentices but to be honest, he was getting a little bit sick with people in Mondsadt being so superstitious about Bennett.
Albedo himself didn’t know him that well, and he wasn’t the kind of person who would listen to mindless gossip. But this boy was somewhat Klee’s and Razor’s friend, so he heard a thing or two about him and his apparent “bad luck”.
Like the time when he got struck by lightning on top of the mountain. Or how he somehow ran into four ruin guards at once. Or how a particularly vicious boar pushed him on his own trap. But that was also what other people have heard as well.
What they did not think about, though, was how often the lightning would strike this particular mountain. They also haven't heard that this particular place, with those guards, was the ruins of an ancient palace. They also haven’t noticed that the boars in the Whispering Woods were at the time more jumpy than usual, and even Razor wasn’t so keen on hunting that day.
People missed the logical explanations, and Albedo sometimes wondered if they did so on purpose. Sure, it was easy to call some inconveniences bad luck, but to do so every time when Bennett was involved, seemed simply cruel.
And the reputation of a bad luck charm seemed to stick to Bennett so much that the poor boy rarely had any commissions. Not only that but, according to Klee, he also looked lonely. When one day Albedo asked Klee about this, the little girl just said, with a disarming honesty, that even if he hangs around with people like herself, Fischl or Razor he does get such “weird”, as she put it, looks that he quickly would find excuses to go outside of town. Klee even said that he looked very sad when it happened, but when she’d ask about it, Bennett would quickly smile and reassure her.
And that did pull Albedo’s heartstrings. He knew how it felt to be an outcast, and while he didn’t get exacly bothered by that, it was obvious that it bothered Bennett. So he would sometimes commission the boy to gather some herbs or substances that he was running short on. And while he never made this a secret, today was the first time when both of his apprentices noticed.
“If I were to be honest, Bennett has been our sole provider of resources for a while now. And if I recall correctly, nothing seemed amiss, hm?”
Albedo had to press his lips to hide a smile, when a clearly shocked Timaeus stared at him. “Anyway. We have only so much of the daytime left, and if we chat any longer we won’t get any work done. So, Timaeus, don’t think about that now, and let’s focus” he said, and turned back to his table.
“Well, let us hope that the Deaconess will be back earlier than expected” murmured Timaeus.
Albedo was right. When they finished, the sun was already settling down, so they started to clean up. Timaeus was first, so he said his goodbyes and left, without even waiting for Albedo's usual nod, but the alchemist didn’t seem to notice it at all.
What he did notice though, was that Sucrose had already cleaned as well but still lingered.
“What is it, Sucrose?” he said, packing his last things to the bag. He could practically hear her blushing.
“I- I know what you have said about Bennett is true, but…”
He looked up at her. The girl nervously fixed her glasses. He held the urge to sigh, as he didn’t want her to get even more nervous. Timaeus could handle Albedo’s snarkiness, but Sucrose was more… Delicate.
    “But?” he prompted, standing up.
“I just… Can’t shake this um… bad feeling…” she stuttered, and aimlessly looked around, when her eyes landed on the clock. She furrowed her brows. “Wait! Mr. Albedo, shouldn’t Klee be already back?”
Surprised by the change of topic, Albedo looked at the clock as well. Sucrose was right. It was nearing nine o’clock, and Klee should get to his lab around eight.
“She might have forgotten,” he said, trying to calm Sucrose down but she shook her head.
“No, she was getting better at grasping the concept of time. It would be the first time in weeks since she’s gotten this late.”
Albedo scratched his head. He didn’t want to admit it, but he did start to worry.
“I’ll go where she said she would be” he decided. “Worst case scenario, she simply got lost. It won’t be difficult to find her though.”
“But… Shouldn't Bennett be back as well? Windrise isn’t that far away and the windwheel asters aren’t difficult to find…” Sucrose noted. As soon as she said that her eyes winded in a sudden realization. “Oh no, do you think something bad happened to the both of them?!”
“Sucrose, calm down, please. It is rather unlikely. Klee went to the Whispering Woods. She couldn’t get so lost that she got to Windrise. She would have seen the city at least five times before she could do so anyway” he interrupted gently. “But you are right, Bennett should be back as well, and from what I know he rarely ever gets lost…” he shook his head. “I’ll look for both of them.”
“I can help!” Sucrose perked up. “As you had said, it is unlikely they’ve crossed paths so it’ll take you longer to look for the both of them. Together we’ll cover more ground!”
    Albedo nodded.
“Truly Sucrose, what would I do without you.” A faint smile appeared on his lips, as  Sucrose blushed. “Okay, where do you want to go?”
“I’ll look for Klee in the Whispering Woods” she stated. Albedo raised his brow, which made her blush even more. “It’s not like I don’t want to look for Bennet! It's just that I know the Woods better, and I know Klee’s habits so…”
“I didn’t say anything,” he said pointedly. “Anyway, let’s get going. We'll meet up at my place when we’re finished”
Sucrose nodded, and with that settled, they left the lab.
    Albedo sighed.
He got to the Statue of the Seven quicker than he thought, which was surprising as he  chose the longer way on purpose, hoping that he’ll meet Bennett in Springvale in case he got badly hurt, and decided to stay. But people in the village said that they hadn't seen the boy since morning. And when Albedo got to the Windrise, judging by the lack of windwheel asters, Bennet had been here already. So he must have gotten stuck on his way back. But where was he now?
Albedo ran a hand through his hair. He only hoped that Sucrose had already found Klee.
He touched the ground near the place where the petals of windwheel asters laid and closed his eyes, trying to focus. His vision glowed as he tried to find any traces that would tell him where the boy went, when suddenly he also felt two other presences. One familiar, the other more sinister. He furrowed his brows, focusing harder on those feelings and when he finally recognized them, he felt his blood run cold.
It was Klee. And the other presence were definitely Abyss Mages, two if Albedo felt right. And judging by the traces that they left, they were royally pissed.
Albedo quickly got up and just as he was about to run he heard an explosion coming from the other side of the river. Oh good Archons, please no, he thought sprinting in that direction.
Nearby the old column he finally saw them. Two Cryo Abyss Mages, one of them with an already broken shield, no doubt by one of Klee’s bombs. The little girl quickly stepped back, while Bennett charged his sword with flames, presumably to strike the mage down. But then the second mage pointed his staff at Klee.
“Klee, watch out!” shouted both Albedo and Bennett.
The girl had time to only turn around when she saw an ice shot coming at her. Albedo forced himself to run faster, but he knew he wouldn't be able to reach her in time.
“Get out of the way!” he heard Bennett yell and when he looked at him, the boy was already in front of Klee, shielding her. Right after that he fell to his knees, and then face first to the ground. The Mage laughed.
“Now it’s only you, child” Albedo heard him snicker. At this moment he saw the ground light up in red and the Mage’s shield broke down. That’s his chance.
Albedo called his sword, and focusing the power in his hand he quickly summoned the Solar Isotoma, sending both of the Mages away from Klee and Bennett.
“Feel this ancient power” he said with a vile smile on his lips and let the Geo crystals finish his job.
Once he made sure that neither of the Mages would be getting up, he hurried over to the children.
“Albedo!” Klee yelled, throwing her hands around him. He gave her a quick hug, and kneeled in front of her.
“Are you okay?” he asked, frantically looking her over. The little girl nodded. She brushed away her tears and said:
    “I am, but Benny…”
At that, Albedo gently turned the boy around, noticing how cold he was to touch. There was blood on his head, but it looked like it was from a scratch rather than a serious injury. His arm, however, looked worse.
It wasn’t something that Albedo had seen before. Judging by the hoarfrost surrounding it, it was where the Mage’s shot landed. The alchemist touched it lightly, and Bennett groaned but didn't open his eyes. The man could feel a bruise forming under all of that hoarfrost, but that was all that he could gather. Barbara would be able to tell him more when they get to the… Oh no.
Barbara was away, and the sisters left weren’t that skilled with elemental induced injuries to help Bennett out, and from what Albedo remembered, Jean also was outside of the city, so he couldn’t ask her for help. And that left only him and Sucrose.
He got pulled from his thoughts by Klee’s worried voice:
“Albedo? Is Benny okay?”
“No, Klee” he said, forcing himself to stay calm. He already knew where it was going. “But we will get him to be okay, all right?”
Just as he suspected, tears appeared in the girl’s eyes. She desperately hugged Dodoco.
“It’s all my fault” she muttered sadly.
“You couldn’t have predicted it, Klee” Albedo softly interjected. “Besides, worrying won’t help us. We need to get Bennett to Mondstadt.” he added and furrowed his brows. He noticed how Klee swayed slightly on her feet. The girl must have been exhausted. Albedo smiled sympathetically. “I know that you must be tired, but I can’t carry you, I have to focus on your friend, okay?” Klee nodded, and her face hardened, like she was forcing herself to get her energy back. “Just stay close to me, we only need to find the right teleport”.
Seeing as Klee obediently stepped closer to him, he gently got Bennet on his back and they started walking.

Fortunately for them, the teleport got them right into the center of the city. Albedo quickly walked to his home, Klee hot on his heels. By the door they saw Sucrose, who at first looked relieved when she saw them, but her demeanor quickly changed when she noticed who Albedo was carrying.
“Archons! What happened?” she said, opening the door for Albedo. The alchemist was about to explain, but Klee beat him to it.
“I was playing in the Woods, when the two Ma… Mages saw me and started to flow to me so I ran to the teleport and fell on Benny! And I thought I was safe, but they ran after me and Benny tried to protect me and…” she stopped, hugging the Dodoco closer to herself. Albedo knew she was forcing herself to not cry.
“It really wasn’t your fault, Klee” he repeated, and then raised his eyes on Sucrose. “He got hit by one of the Mages, but not with something I had seen before.”
The young woman quickly got into her alchemist mode.
“Mr. Albedo lay him on a couch. We’ll see what’s wrong”
Albedo did as she said, and let her try her methods first. He trusted her abilities with healing more than he did with his. He knew that at this moment the roles were reversed, and this was the time where all he could do was to assist her. But right now, judging by her looks, that wasn’t necessary.
He turned to a still very distressed looking Klee and lightly patted her on the shoulder.
“Come on now, missy. It’s late, you should go to bed.”
    “B-but…”
“Sucrose got it, all right? If we stand here and hover, we won’t be helping her, and you need to rest” he said but Klee only furrowed her brows harder. Seeing that she still was not convinced, Albedo kneeled in front of her and lightly patted her on the cheek. “Hey, don’t worry. I know this looked scary, and if I were you, I would be scared as well.”
“Really?!” Klee whisper-shouted. He smiled reassuringly.
“Really. But at the same time I know that worrying will do me no good. I know that Sucrose can help Bennett, you do as well. So maybe focus on how can you thank them both later, okay?”
He felt relief washing over him, as he saw Klee finally smile.
“Okay! But… Um… Do you think I can leave Dodoco with Benny? He’ll watch over him.”
    Albedo couldn't help but smile.
“I’m sure it won’t hurt, but ask Sucrose first. And then straight to bed with you, okay?”
Klee happily nodded and entered the living room. Albedo leaned on the doorframe watching as the little girl tugged at Sucrose carefully, and then whispered something to her ear. The young woman smiled softly and nodded her head, while lightly petting Klee’s hair. He sighed. Now they could only wait.
Sucrose has left the room past midnight, looking exhausted, but with a proud smile on her face. Albedo looked at her.
    “How is he?”
“Stable. I’ve managed to extract the essence of the shot from the wound so we could study it later but from what it looked like, its aim was to efficiently knock out the victim by making him freeze on the inside” she sighed, sitting across Albedo. “And you were right. It is something new.”
“Then the Knights, or at least Kaeya, should be informed about that” Albedo thought out loud. Seeing as Sucrose stood up he quickly added: “Not tonight though. I think it is fair to say that we are all tired. Will Bennett need something else?”
Hearing his question, Sucrose lost her confidence in a blink of an eye.
“A-Actually he is awake. I- I was about to tell you that he asked for you but um...”
    Albedo nodded absentmindedly.
“Okay. You should go to sleep, Sucrose. I have already prepared the guest room for you.”
    The girl blushed.
“Y- you didn’t have to…” she whispered, looking at the ground.
“Oh I had to. You really saved the day, and you need to rest as well. Don’t worry, it’s not bothering me in the slightest.”
    She flustered.
“Okay then… Um… Goodnight, Mr. Albedo.”
“Goodnight, Sucrose” he said, biting back the comment about calling him mister in his own home. It was a talk for another day.
He got up and knocked on the doorframe, and when he heard a meek “go in” he entered.
Bennett laid awake on the couch under at least three blankets, that Albedo had no idea from where they were. He wasn’t all that surprised though. It wouldn’t be the first time when Sucrose proved to know his house better than him.
He sat on the chair that was beside the couch. Despite his tiredness he mustered up a smile.
“You wanted to see me, Bennett?”
    The boy nodded vigorously.
“Yes, Mr. Albedo! I…” he hesitated, clearly trying to gather his thoughts. “I…”
“Take your time. You’ve taken quite a hit there.”
“Wouldn’t be the first time,” Bennett said with a cheerful voice. “It comes with being the unlucky adventurer, you know!”
Albedo sighed. It was way too late to have a talk with the boy about placebo, but he promised himself that they will talk about it some other time.
“I guess I just wanted to… To thank you, I guess?” Bennett said, scratching the back of his head nervously. Albedo raised his brows.
    “Oh?”
“Like… Not only you saved my… My life today, I guess, but you are also almost the only person in the town, aside from maybe Ms. Mona, to often commission me! And this really helps me, you know! And… And you let me watch over Klee, despite me being a possible danger to her, and… And um… I know you sometimes pay me extra and just I… I wanted you to… To know that… It means a lot. To me, I mean. And um… Thank you?”
With every word, Bennett’s talking got quicker and quicker. Albedo smiled. He lightly patted him on the shoulder, stopping the boy’s frantic speech.
“There is nothing to thank me for, Bennett. Today got dangerous, I admit, but it was my duty as the Knight of Favonius to help you. And you showed that instead of being hm… a danger, as you put it, for Klee, you rather focus on protecting her, which shows to me, how responsible you are. And that is also the reason why I commission you so often. I trust your ability to complete it.”
Bennett’s lips hung open. The poor boy looked absolutely stunned, and it quickly downed on Albedo, that the young adventurer probably didn’t hear much praise coming from anyone, aside from his dads probably. He felt both anger and sadness washing over him.
Anger at the people of Mondstadt for treating him so badly, that the poor boy got genianly stunned by hearing praise and sadness that it got to this point. Feeling his big brother instincts taking over him, he ruffled Bennett’s hair, just like he would to Klee when she was upset and added:
“I also believe that one day you will be the greatest adventurer to walk on Tevyat, luck or no luck. You, Bennett, are one of the most determined, responsible, goal-oriented, coragues and optimistic people that I ever had the pleasure to meet.”
    Bennett’s lips started to quiver.
“Mr. Albedo…” he whispered in disbelief. Albedo just smiled, and that seemed to give Bennett the corague to meekly ask: “Can I… Can I hug you? Please?”
“Of course” he answered, already opening his arms. Bennett practically fell into him, trying to get as close to the alchemist as possible. If his arms shook a bit, Albedo decided not to mention it. He simply settled on rubbing the boy’s back, similarly like he did to Klee when she woke up from a nightmare.
They sat like that for a while, until Bennett decided to pull away. He rubbed a fist under his eyes and smiled hopefully.
    “Mr. Albedo?”
    “Hm?”
“Would you be willing to join Benny’s Adventure Team?”
“Oh…” he sighed. He had heard about the misfortunate team and knew how important it was to Bennett, but still… “Unfortunately, I have to decline your generous offer. I rarely leave Mondsadt, so I wouldn’t be much of a valuable member to your team, I’m afraid.”
“Oh… Y- yeah, you’re right I guess…” Bennett’s smile slightly faltered but just when Albedo opened his mouth to reassure him, he looked at him again with slightly pleading eyes. “What about an Honorary Member? We could go out together when you would need to go into the wild! I know the best ways to some secret spots, you know!”
At that Albedo couldn’t help but smile earnestly.
“Well then” he said calmly “In that case, it would be my absolute honor.”
A few days later a very frantic looking Timaeus all but burst into the lab.
“Sir, tell me it’s not true,” he said. Albedo, completely unphased by his sudden coming in, started a fire under the vial.
    “What isn’t true?” he asked.
“That you are an… An Honorary Member of Benny’s Adventure Team!” Timaeus exclaimed frantically. Hearing Albedo’s soft chuckle, he felt his blood run cold. They are doomed.

Alfie Solomons X Best Friend!Reader
| Prompt
“This is fun.” “Seriously, we’re trying to hide a body.”
a/n: yes it’s best friends to lovers plot and yes, there’s more to come.
It’s cold.
The sky isn’t dark like it usually is when you’re out, the birds are chirpy and there’s only a couple people around, all of them you know. You let the wind kiss your face, it gently plays with the hem of your airy dress while you stand on top of the hill. It feels peaceful.
The smell of soil fills your nose and you inhale it furthermore while walking close to the men. You eye Ollie’s jacket, it looks warm but not warm enough for you. He keeps digging into the face of the earth while you watch, your part is yet to come.
You watch his calloused fingers dig into the soil, his rings glisten under the cheerful May weather. You sit down on the soil, it’s out to some damage to your dress but you don’t care, it’s a good day.
He looks at you with a smile you know so well.
You mirror his expression under the sun, the only noise that can be heard is the shovels hitting the soil and the piece of earth being extracted. This was supposed to be done a couple of days back but you didn’t have time, there were people to chase down and deals to sign and Alfie had managed to track you down at last.
You watch his body move, he’s done this way too many times.
You walk towards his figure, he’s much taller than you. You recall the times he wasn’t all so tall, he had sprouted after puberty and the war had done him some good too, even though he’d returned with one too many scars inside his soul.
He is where you seek comfort.
He’s been a friend for many years, the same time around you’d moved from the suburbs. He was only a small kid back then, barely twelve as you’d follow him around. The first three years were not good years for your friendship as he’d dismiss your being and would ignore you as much he could.
But then you’d found the way to his heart.
You’d spent many nights sleeping at his house, sometimes he’d be wiping your tears away and helping you talk things out and other times, it was more about his funny antics you’d listen to until the sun appeared in the horizon again.
You’d spent a summer away when you were fifteen, that had been the summer you both grew up. He’d blossomed into a beautiful boy, young and charming and you’d become a proper lady in the span of a couple months. Touches were awkward then, you would catch him staring and feel tingly when his hand would touch the small of your back until things went back to normal.
Then the war came.
He was wounded soldier, one with many medals but he’d grown tired. You had been the one to console him for two years while he tried to get back on his feet, and he did. He’d grieved over his lost mother and the things he’d seen, he was a changed man but underneath the tough look he now had, he was your Alfie.
“You need help?” you speak, his eyes meet your small form sitting on top of the soil. There was rain around and he knew you didn’t care.
But you look beautiful.
The summer you spent apart had been a good one for him, making him a strong man much to your surprise. You’d returned as a beautiful lady, not the crying little girl he knew anymore. You had grown into a rose, a precious jewel he promised to take care of the minute he saw you.
He chuckles at your words, looking at you in dismay. “Yer dress, pet..” he speaks, you ignore the words.
“So, no?” you ask again, waiting for an adequate answer to your question.
He shakes hit head again while the men move the body inside the hole they dug. You watch, heart a little uneasy even though it isn’t the first time this was happening. You’d watched it many times over the years.
Alfie watches you twitch, shift from where you are sitting as you watch the grey back being thrown into the pit. He knows you’re not afraid of it, it’s just the memories biting back from the times you’d buried all your family members after the war. He knows you dislike all this. He does, too.
He sits next to you on the ground, watching the men bury the boy properly by covering it with soil. He sees the apologetic smile on your face when you turn to him, he smiles back while his hand moves a strand of your hair from your face.
“This is fun.” you speak, watching the men move as your words erupt a chuckle from him and the shake of his head.
“..Love,..” he smiles and you enjoy the occasion. “Seriously, we’re tryin’ to hide a body.”
You nod, a chuckle comes from your lips and he enjoys the melody of your voice.
“You told me to come..” you spoke, a frown appearing on your lips much to his dismay.
He doesn’t like to see you frowning. He’s memorised the lines of your lips, he knows every emotion you can convey with them. He’s often wondered how they would feel against his lips, it had started in his younger years as a man and carried out into his life now. He shakes his head, he’s not supposed to have those thoughts.
Oh, but he does.
He’s imagined what you would look like after a good fuck, your legs sprawled over the bed while your chest would rise up and down with each breath you took. He knows of your flushed cheeks and smeared lipstick from when you make out with someone, he’d seen the image once with one of your past lovers.
He wishes he was one of them.
It was a thin line. He loved you, in all the meanings the word possessed. He didn’t want to lose the friendship you had given him, it had been one of the best things that had happened to him but he couldn’t stop himself from wanting a little more.
There had been times you’d come close. It was a wedding once, him in a tuxedo while you danced the night away and you had almost kissed him. It had been a dinner party once, one you went to with a couple friends and him, you’d scolded him at the back exit of the place and he was too close to pushing you against the wall and kissing you senseless.
“’hat’s because, right, I don’t get to see ye’ anymore.” he speaks, a little hurt as you look at him, dumbfounded.
“You saw me last week when we walked Cyril together.” you speak, not getting where he was coming from.
“Don’t mean like ‘hat, yeah, jus’ mean you’re no’ around as much.” he speaks, making you turn to the men as they finish the job.
Alfie dismisses them with the shake of their head and they move to the carriage, a little far away from where you’re sitting. You don’t say anything while sitting in the green space. It’s almost a forest, just missing a couple trees. You sigh and look at him after the birds stop with their singing. He is impossible.
“So the solution is to bring me to an illegal burying?” you ask, a giggle escapes your lips at the last word and he chuckles at your adorable state.
“hat’s my bad, yeah.”
“You think?”
You stand up, stopping with your teasing while Alfie follows you. You move towards the carriage while he guides you a little better with his hand on the small of your back. You don’t look up at him but walk instead, it’s natural.
On the ride back, you ask about cyril and his business. It’s second nature, the connection between the two of you. He watches you blink, sunlight kissing your cheeks through the open window as you take in the smell of the suburbs.
There are things he wants to say.
He wants to hold you close, not give you the hug you usually give him but be next to you in the morning, hold you like you mean the world to him because you do. He wants to kiss your cheeks, he knows you’ll giggle when he does because you always get ticklish from his kisses. He wants to make sure you’re okay, he knows how sorrowful you feel sometimes and all he wishes to do is to take care of you, be yours.
But he doesn’t say anything, he watches you instead.
He doesn’t know if you want the same things. He sees the glisten in your eyes when you look at him, it’s the very same one he has when the thought of you summons him. You offer him a smile, your lips move as you speak but the words don’t reach his ears, he’s too focused on you.
You chuckle, shaking your head and your hand on his knee pulls him back. He makes a curious noise and you repeat yourself.
“I asked if you wanna come to my place?” you ask, a glint of hope in your eyes and it hurts him, he doesn’t know why you’re hopeful.
He knows he doesn’t deserve you, he’s seen and done entirely too much for him to get such a blessing. He looks out the window for a while, you wait for his answer. You know he likes to take his time with his words.
“For tea?” he asks, he can’t remember why you wanted him to come over.
You nod and shrug, nonchalant about the whole thing while he makes a mental note of telling Ollie to cover the paperwork he was planning on doing.
“Sure..”  the words spill out of your mouth, he watches your lips move.
You watch him nod, you remember the nights he came to your apartment, sometimes it was to put his pieces back together and other times, it would be for a chat or just for company.
You knew of the same loneliness he did, you both grew up with each other and no one else and life had done a good deal of keeping you apart for some time. You wanted to redeem the years you’d spent away studying and being a different version of yourself. They were good years but it all made you realise that life isn’t as enjoyable when he’s not around.
You open the door to your apartment, he knows the place like the back of his hand. The small animal you were currently looking after moves in its place, Alfie doesn’t like hedgehogs but he tolerates the thing for you. You take your coat off, dropping the keys on the small table next to the door and he does the same, his motions following your own ones.
You watch him as he enters the kitchen, he’s getting musclier every time you see him and you can’t help but recall the times he was such a small boy. He is a grown man now. He watches you watch him for a while, it’s quiet as the water boils. It’s comfortable, safe almost.
“I hear business is good..” you speak, trying to make conversation, not because the silence is awkward but because you genuinely want to hear him speak.
“Yea’..” he nods, walking towards you and taking the pot from your hands, pouring the water on your glass gently as you watch him. “...seein’ as we jus’ buried an enemy, I’d say ‘t’s pretty fuckin’ good.” he chuckles while speaking, you smile at his chuckle, the melody is a mere blessing to you.
“Sounds lovely..” you speak, sarcasm filling your words while you take the tray from his hands and carry it to the living room.
He touches your arm once you’re seated, your fingers brushing not too long after as you hand him the tea. His skin is tough, ages by the years of hard work and struggle, it contrasts your much softer ones and he smiles at the touch.
You take a small sip from your cup, holding the piece of ceramic by the handle as he watches you. When your eyes meet his, you realise he’s been staring for a minute and some more, you can’t help the light shade of blush spreading to your cheeks before you leave the cup on the table.
"How’s life treatin’ ya?” he asks, hand resting on the side of the big sofa he’s seated on as he watches you lean back on the couch, your head now resting on the pillows.
“Like I ran over its dog..” you speak, he knows your joking but he can’t overlook the distant gaze you’re holding while you stare at the wall.
He knows there’s a more pale side to you, the side that he would hold in his arm as you’d cry into his chest. It’s the side that’s been wounded since the war much like he was, it’s the side that couldn’t endure one loss after the other.
You turn to him, eyes glistening with love this time as you look at the only person who stuck by your side through every stage you went through. He’s precious, you think.
“Need any help, luv?” he speaks, asking the very same question you asked him back at the burying.
You shake your head, putting one of your leg on top of his seated ones. His fingers find your ankle, massaging you slowly as he watches you close your eyes. He can see the tiredness in your eyes, you put it back for him. He appreciates that.
“I will be okay.” you speak, your voice is soft and he knows you’re saying the words out loud just to convince yourself, the words aren’t meant for him but he nods regardless.
“So ye jus’ needed me over for sum’ fucking foot massage, aye?” he asks, you chuckle at his words and nod, eyes lifting up to his.
“Any complaints?” you say, daring almost as you go along with his playful banter, this is the time you look forward to in a day when you get to spend time with him.
“Not if I get to see ya, luv.” he continues with the massage but you quickly stop him by removing your foot from his lap. He’s being too nice but he lets you go.
You scoot closer to his body on the couch and he welcomes it, his arm is thrown over the back part as you snuggle closer to him. There’s warmth in his embrace, a sense of comfort you only feel when he’s around. You welcome his smell, it’s been the same one since he came back from the war but it lacks the innocence he once possessed.
“I hate that you’re busy.” you speak, words muffled while you hide yourself in his chest. He lets you curl on his lap like a small kid, it’s second nature.
“Yer not so accessible either, right.” he says into your hair, you want to pull him closer but it’s impossible, he lets you move as you try to interlock his ribcage with yours, trying to get in even closer to him.
“So it’s my fault, now?” you ask, lifting your head up to meet his eyes. Your fingers caress the sides of his hair, he leans into the touch with a smile on his lips.
“Didn’t say ‘hat.” he speaks, but your eyes are too focused on his lips to comprehend what he’s saying. Your gaze is unmoving, you find it hard to not lean forward and meet his lips at once but you know that’s an action with many possible consequences. You also happen to know that some of those consequences are the worse way to go.
You know that there’s a chance of things getting worse if you take the next step, it’s gambling at this point but you’re too tried. This game of push and pull has been a constant theme in your relationship with the familiar man.
It had been there when he turned into a beautiful boy: it had been small touches and the scared gaze he would hide from you. It had been there after the war: it was his kisses on top of your head to thank you for being there and the pastries he would send over with Ollie.
It was here now, it was his piercing gaze and the caress of his finger on your thigh. You didn’t shy away from his orbs, you had stared at them for your whole life after all.
You speak before registering your words, it’s a bad habit you picked up from being around him too much. You don’t think twice before speaking.
“It’s not like this with other people..” you speak, your breath hits his face, his trimmed beard is long enough to cover the light blush colour that takes up his features.
You’re right. It’s not.
It’s easy with you. He moves easily, he doesn’t shy away from doing certain things. He knows his bluntness is welcomed by him. Your touch feels natural, it’s been there since he was a small boy. He remembers the night he kissed you before he left for war.
He knows you think about it, too. He can see the glint of curiosity swimming in your orbs whenever you can’t take your eyes off his lips. But you don’t speak of it, you reckon he’s already forgotten how your plump lips felt like against his after what he’d been through in the war.
“I like ya’ a lot more than other people..” he speaks, the words hit you like a thunder. It’s expected but surreal regardless.
You chuckle, his breath fanning your face as you stare at him. You’re still seated on his lap, the position is second nature but you become aware of the absurd situation not too long after. It’s awkward for the first time.
But it’s the same kind of awkwardness a first kiss has, it has the same innocence of two lovers seeing each other naked for the first time. The blushing, the reality of it and the gentle touches are all welcomed as you lean forward, it’s go big or go home at this point.
He welcomes your lips against his, they taste just as sweet as they did under that moonlight many years ago. Your hands travel to his neck and hair, caressing the all too familiar areas while his hands travel up your dress, gently touching the soft skin of your thighs while you mewl into his mouth.
He listens to your moans as you release the sounds into his mouth, you straddle him tighter by the passing second as the velvet kiss seems to be only piece of puzzle left in his life. He kisses you like he needs a fresh breath of air.
You break the kiss first, feeling heat take over your body as he rests his forehead against yours. His hands are unmoving while they caress your body, it feels good. You take deep breaths and he watches your chest rise and fall with the heat of the moment, he’s never seen you more beautiful.
“‘hat’s more like it.”
You chuckle as he speaks, hiding your face on the crook of his neck not too long after as his body engulfs yours.
