The raven, being Apollo’s bird,

is chief among the fortune tellers.

As an apology for turning his clean white feathers charcoal black,

Phoebus gave him future sight as a consolation prize.

Temples were open and shut by his caw.

Senators inaugurated and expelled.

News of his prowess even reached the Celts;

I count the murder’s members with their old rhyme.

“One for sorrow, two for mirth…”

I count fourteen.

The rhyme doesn’t go that far,

and they’re all sitting around a dumpster

behind the Burger King

cackling over moldy French fries.

the REAL reason why luffy and zoro understand each other so well is because they are both autistic & their love language is parallel play. no matter what they are doing they are always in each others line of sight. zoro always naps close to where luffy is messing around with chopper and usopp. luffy sits close to where zoro is training when he’s fishing. while zoro is sharpening his swords, luffy sits right next to him, feeding some bug he picked up from the last island and decided to keep. while they don’t always talk to each other, they come to understand little cues that indicate their thoughts and emotions thanks to spending so much time close to one another.

I love the book where the conman who is not reformed in the slightest is hauled into an office by an important man and told "do this for the public good, or else" so he brings his extra special batshit perspective on life to this impossible task that has gotten SEVERAL people killed, and he is being actively plotted against the whole way, largely by an older foil character who is also a conman, and is arguably better at it than him. the book has reflections on what it might mean to be an 'honest' man, and if it's even possible. our conman ultimately wins, because he's the best-worst man for the job-- in part by weaponising the unfair and callous death of a brother, and also by dramatically orchestrating it so major embezzlement and financial crimes are exposed to a large crowd. said man's girlfriend also has pointy things about her person and sees through him like he's transparent. love that book. what's it called? oh. you know
