I think some of the Blue Lock writers might struggle with German words - or rather, German petnames - when writing for Michael Kaiser, so I thought, as a native speaker, I could help you out a bit ♡♡

[female, male, gender neutral]

So, common German petnames are:

Schatz ("treasure")

Liebling ("darling", literal meaning: "favorite")

Liebste/r (means about the same, just that it sounds like some high-class couple petname like, yes, treat me to some champagne on your yacht, Liebster)

Engel ("angel")

Prinzessin ("princess")

Petnames that are not (really) used in German are, for example:

Schnecke ("snail", even though it does exist and is used to 'hit on' a girl, I think most of us associate it rather with old men or use it as a joke)

Liebe ("love", although it sounds cute in English and Spanish, sadly it sounds rather odd in German. that petname would be nice though 😪)

I gotta say, if you write "meine Liebe/ mein Lieber" (literal: "my love") instead, it would sound better because we actually use it. The thing is - without getting too much into the German language - it rather means something like "my kind/friendly/sweet/well-behaved person"

(its so hard to translate that)

I really really hope no one understood this as an insult! You guys are all incredible and I admire the effort you put into your work a lot, I just thought those tipps might be useful/helpful for some of you.

i don't care if bsd is believable. i don't care if the plot twists make sense, because honestly they never really have made much sense and they don't necessarily need to. bsd tends to be kind of ridiculous and a lot of times that's what makes it fun and endearing. i am perfectly willing to suspend my disbelief for this show.

i do care if bsd is rewarding tho, and i don't feel like this was a particularly rewarding season finale as far as dazai's character goes. another dazai ex machina ending to a season isn't the problem here for me; it's the doubt that resolution is retroactively casting on everything dazai has done and said in the last arc. it makes the sincerity of everything he said suspect. it makes me wonder if he was ever really in danger. how much dazai knew, how assured he was of his victory isn't entirely clear, but that doesn't really matter. what matters is that enough of the conflict in the mersault arc was shown to be not real, and that puts everything in a different light. it makes any vulnerability or weakness dazai showed during the arc seem inconsequential, and it makes it feel less genuine dazai's speech to chuuya when he was "drowning" chuuya was interesting when the chapter released because it had so many character and relationship implications. dazai, pragmatic and logical as he is, being capable of killing chuuya if he had to but not incapable of feeling nothing about it. it made you wonder if perhaps dazai might be doing something he'd regret, if he'd realize only once it's too late the true consequences of his actions. dazai saying for years that he wants to kill chuuya and genuinely believing that he wants him dead, only to realize once he's succeeded at that that his life is missing something without chuuya there to irritate him... that's interesting! that's opening up a whole world of possibilities for dazai's character and their relationship. even if chuuya survives, dazai still may be faced with the realization that hey, he doesn't want chuuya dead. it forces him to really reckon with the magnitude of importance chuuya has in his life, which, for all of their unspoken trust, may be something dazai has taken for granted. it might make him re-examine his feelings or himself. it might change the dynamic between them.

now that there's the possibility of it being pre-planned, that speech loses it's weight— and the character implications of it are somewhat lost. of course, there is the possibility that dazai didn't know at the time, that he only figured it out at some point during the events of the game. it's certainly open to interpretation and it's definitely interesting to interpret it that he didn't know at the time, but it's an equally valid interpretation that dazai knew all along, so it shifts the exploration of dazai's character and his feelings for chuuya from the realm of canon to fanon.

but the way that the vampire fake-out plot twist is presented does strip some of the possibility for vulnerability from dazai's words. it casts enough doubt on it to make it plausible that he was just fucking around, that it doesn't really mean anything. it keeps dazai in a secure place of superiority in the narrative and makes him immune to normal character flaws and weaknesses. dazai, as a person, is supposed to be learning to trust and he wins because of that trust, but it's falling flat for dazai as a character (for me, at least) because we don't believe there was ever really a risk that he'd fall. as the audinece, we can see asagiri setting up a safety net and it negates the impact of the trust fall that dazai is supposedly doing. basically this plot twist is the emotional equivalent to seeing a video of someone jumping off a ledge and then the camera zooms out and you realize what you thought was a 30 foot drop is actually only about 3 feet. and not only is it not rewarding, but it makes me feel like i was silly for being worried in the first place.

#sliding asagiri a 5 dollar bill. can you write dazai like yuo did in dark era/beast au again. i miss that dazai #i think the idea of skk doing a vampire fake-out plan is funny and on brand for them it's just that it's a disappointing revelation #after everything this arc seemed like it was setting up #ill be interested to see if the manga and anime are gonna diverge now?#i have a fever i dont know how coherent this is sorry #obligatory text post tag #bsd

Cringetober 2023 #17: Fake Anime Screenshot

I Magicked My Mouth Off So Now I Live A Life Of Crime was a super underrated anime IMO. The artstyle was a bit odd but the worldbuilding was spectacular! Shame it only got one season though...

Obviously, my artstyle doesn't really lend itself to anime all that well, so I had to kinda hit a middle ground on that. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

This is meant to be when Fynn magicked his mouth off at the wizard convention. The clouds from the spell are too thick to see what happened to anyone else but trust me, it isn't pretty. Fynn got off pretty lightly all things considered.

For those curious, the Japanese (which I translated with the internet so forgive me if it's awful) just says, "What happened to my mouth?"

Also I forgot to add a shadow ＞﹏＜! I didn't realize until I already did all of the filters so it would've been a pain to go back and fix.

On the topic of the filters, I had to do most of them manually! Paint.net has filters, but no chromatic aberration or scanlines or anything. They aren't too hard to replicate though.

most fucked up thing at my new job is there's only zero calorie sweeteners at the coffee station in the break room. three different kinds of zero calorie sweetener but no regular sugar because the assumption is that literally everyone is on a diet?

#is this because its a job dominated by women in particular??? idk #that's so weird #like sorry i can taste the difference and i prefer naturally occurring sugar from nature how is that not even an option #drinking nasty bitter af coffee bc i am So Sleepy but i refuse to use artificial sweeteners #they Do taste different and they're not even good for you im not doing that lol #also they got mad at me for telling one of the parents that we took one of the kids temperature and it was 99 and he threw up a little #when his dad came to get him yesterday and all of the other teachers were nowhere to be found #they were like tou shouldnhave had colleen do that #ma'am colleen went home before that and so did you #i should have left already too but waited bc the ratio on the playground was bad #anyway i did NOT say he had a fever i said it was 99 and to talk to the teacher inside #but the dad didnt yalk to her clearly then went home and scared the mom that he had a fever and threw up so she texted my boss freaking out #i literally just said he threw up a little and we took his temperature and it was 99 and to talk to the other teacher #which was all true and there was no one else there to tell him #anyway #apparently the person who had my job before me was a wacko who scared the parents with fake medical information or something #but that is not my fault and nobody told me that or not to tell the parents anything medical until this morning #ugh #also my supervisor is kind of a weirdo #she wanted to show everyone ~cute~ pictures of animals she has killed while hunting???#and i said i didnt want to see #and she was like ~oh it's not dead yet in the picture~#like okay but its dead now???#she traps them first so its a cute little fox in a trap about to be killed 😭#like wtfff #i know trappong predators is a reality but why take pictures like ohhh so cute then kill it #THEN show everyone the cute pictures like yeah isnt he adorable i killed him btw <3 #huh??????#she has a bobcat tail on her keychain too she was giving it to the teachers and kids to pet like ohhh its so soft <3
