Some Asexual/Aromantic Reminders for Fandom
1. There is no justification for thinking “I like this character better when they’re not aro/ ace.”
Aces/aros aren’t better when they’re allos.
Gays aren’t better when they’re straight.
What that really says: “I don’t like asexuality. I don’t like aromantics.” No matter how you dress it up.
I feel like I shouldn’t have to explain why this is wrong. No character is better when you make them less special.
2. Saying “asexuals can have sex” is a huge oversimplification. When aces have sex it doesn’t make them allosexual, they don’t feel the same things. It doesn’t mean they even enjoy sex. It doesn’t mean they can have sex with a partner. It doesn’t mean they can do it more than once. And it doesn’t mean they have “fixed” themselves and can now love properly.
When bisexuals have sex with someone of the opposite gender it doesn’t make them straight. It doesn’t mean they “fixed” their homosexuality.
3. Erasure can happen in cannon and head cannon. You don’t have to be a professional to participate in it. When social media is flooded with images of an asexual character in sexual situations with no acknowledgement of asexuality, it’s impossible to see the asexuality through it. Maybe it’s not erased, it’s buried in an avalanche.
4. I can name five canonical Aro or Ace characters. The rest are allosexual. In every movie, book, tv show, and comic that’s ever been written. Throughout all of time.
Sherlock Holmes (original novels) who is constantly paired non platonically with Irene Adler or John Watson in his incarnations. No hate on those ships, just pointing out an example.
SpongeBob SquarePants who is asexual because real life sea sponges are asexual.
Rafael Santiago (Shadowhunter Chronicles) who was portrayed in the books as cold and indifferent to people’s feelings.
Isaac (Heartstopper) whose entire story is about being Asexual.
Alastor (Hazbin Hotel) who actually has a personality, a backstory, goals outside of being accepted as asexual, a dynamic story arc, and complex relationships with friends/enemies that are actually fun to watch. Honestly the best ace/aro rep I’ve ever seen: a guy with no interest in sex who actually has a sense of humor!
When the ratio is a million: 5, it’s not ridiculous for aces and aros to ask people to ship someone else as allosexual. Literally anyone else. This can’t possibly be the only option.
5. Creators have a history of not defending asexual/aromantic characters. They don’t fight to make sure people respect their sexuality. It’s always better for business and social media trends to encourage shipping. Sex sells. Romance too. They may be the authority on a character, that doesn’t mean they’re an authority on aces/aros.
6. You can’t show a visual of someone being asexual or aromantic. Not in the same way you can show two girls kissing or men getting married. You can show platonic relationships, but that doesn’t prove the absence of attraction. All fan art with ace/aro people requires context. It’s not hard to scribble a note here or put in a tag or something. It’s also super sweet to see in a post.
7. Shipping and fandom should be about fun. Fun for everyone. Ship freely and kindly.

You've stated that you’ve found every Dracula adaptation EXCEPT Netflix’s Castlevania to a pale imitation of Bram Stoker’s original novel. Why then do you have a soft spot for Legosi’s Dracula? Are there any other unfaithful adaptations of Dracula you feel particularly affectionate towards?
...I don't think that's quite what I've stated, actually. While I think almost every adaptation of Dracula I've seen/listened to/read has altered and cut a lot of the things I love about the book they're supposedly based on, often to the point of being unrecgonizable, I don't think that means they have no merit as stories of their own. Like, an adaptation can be unfaithful to the source material and still be a good story in its own right. And you can be disappointed that an adaptation took so many divergences from the source material while still liking the end product.
I have affection for the vast majority of Dracula adaptations I've seen. The Hammer Dracula movies are some of my favorites - they're really what people are adapting when they turn Van Helsing into Dracula's nemesis, and Peter Cushing's take on Van Helsing is, while not quite true to his literary counterpart, absolutely iconic. He's like the Sherlock Holmes or MacGuyver of vampire slaying, constantly improvising new methods of fending off and fighting vampires.
Or, like, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, which is one of the first and absolute best horror comedies ever made, and marked the only time Bela Lugosi returned to play Dracula. It has almost nothing in common with the book by Bram Stoker, taking just the concept of Count Dracula and inserting him into this farce where he tries to make the Frankenstein monster his minion by giving it Lou Costello's brain. Not a "faithful" adaptation, but the world would be worse without it.
Almost every adaptation of Dracula takes every character from the book who isn't named "Dracula" or "Van Helsing" and either drains them of personality so they're no longer recognizable, or cuts them altogether, and I will always find that disappointing as a fan of the book. But those adaptations often have other things going on that compensate for it and make them good or at least interesting stories in their own right. Do I wish more adaptations were faithful to the book? Yeah, because the characters in the book are excellent and deserve to be known just as well as the Count himself. But that doesn't mean the adaptations that gut them don't have their own charms.

when the rain pours, it dries - tewkesbury
summary: after a tough day, you find yourself sitting alone in the rain. typical movie scene, of course. however, in your time of despair, who is it that arrives to help you up? none of than dear old tewkesbury.
word count: 1k
warnings: rain, hurt/comfort, angst (?), emotions, pre-established relationship, living together, L-bombs, tewkesbury being the sweetest boy
a/n: rewatched enola holmes 2 and i had the urge to write about tewkesbury. so i wrote about him.
hope you enjoy it! <3
~
it was a rainy evening, and i was sitting on one of the benches that were spread out in the park near the lord's office.
without an umbrella.
of course, it had not been my intention originally to get drenched by the downpour. however, i had been out trying to find clues for my newest case and had ended up losing track of time. as a result, i was now stuck sitting here, wet and cold and so utterly alone.
today had been absolutely terrible.
i had been put onto a new case only a few days ago, yet i had still not found any clues. the client had barged into my office early this morning, ruining my so far perfectly good day, screaming at me for being useless and wasting his time, money and hope.
i was trying- i really was. and things like these do not just happen overnight. but the couple heard none of it, calling me a liar, fraud and a thief, before walking out the door.
for some reason, it was too much for me.
on top of the rent being due for the apartment that tewkesbury and i shared, and all the mental strain i was feeling with mother being gone and the fact that i would never be as good as sherlock and tewkesbury being so busy with the lords, i think i had reached my breaking point after that.
which was why i was now sitting here on this bench in the rain, on the verge of tears.
oh come on y/n, don't be ridiculous.
but it was too late, because tears were already starting to stream down my face.
the fact that the rain was covering them up was a small blessing.
sniffling, i shoved my face into my hands and cried, irritation giving way to the disappointment and sadness that had building up for weeks now.
just great.
suddenly i heard footsteps coming up the path, only to stop right in front of me. then the rain stopped hitting the top of my head, and i looked up to see an umbrella covering me. a hand gripped the handle, and the person bent over from beneath, revealing tewkesbury standing in front of me.
he was holding an umbrella- a smart decision in this weather, and was staring at me in confusion.
"y/n?"
i instantly got off the bench, embarrassed that he had found me in such a state. however in my rush, i ended up stumbling and tipping forward, hands catching the front of tewkesbury's coat for support.
he let out a surprised grunt, his free arm coming to wrap around my waist, catching me before i fell.
"by god, y/n, you're soaked."
i raised my head to see him staring at me, eyes wide. "uh- sorry," i mumbled, righting myself and looking away. mentally scolding myself, i rubbed the raindrops off my face and turned to meet his gaze with a forced smile.
"hello tewkesbury. lovely weather, is it not? i was just out here collecting my thoughts. what brings you here?"
i could tell i was speaking too fast, and that my story was completely ridiculous, because  i wrung my hands together in an attempt to calm myself.
"are you alright, y/n?" tewkesbury asked, seeing right through my sorrowful attempt at lying. "you seem...a little off."
"oh no, i'm perfectly fine, i assure you. absolutely wonderful. just enjoying the rain."
he raises an eyebrow, skeptical from under his unnecessarily large black umbrella. seriously, who made that thing? he could fit 5 people in there.
and then there was the matter of him.
how could he look so handsome an such an ungodly hour?
"so, um... what exactly are you doing here?" i asked, hoping he would just answer my question instead of worrying about me.
i hate it when he worries.
he sighed, taking the bait. "i was out at the lords' all day, remember? there was that meeting to discussion the formation of a new bill, so i only just got released."
i cringed, realizing he had told me this both last night and this morning before he left.
oh no, i've completely lost it.
why couldn't i do anything right?
i could feel the tears rising again as my throat began to close up, and i let out a shaky breath.
tewkesbury noticed.
gentle fingers tilted my chin upward, and i saw him looking down at me with concern etched on his face.
"y/n, have you been crying? your eyes are red and you sound upset."
"what? no...no! i'm alright tewkesbury, i-"
my breath hitched mid-sentence and i could feel myself starting to panic.
not again.
tewkesbury cupped my cheek, before pressing his forehead to mine. the warmth of him was a shock to my cold and wet skin, causing me to flinch.
"oh y/n..."
tewkesbury pulled away and motioned for me to take hold of the umbrella, before removing his coat.
"here, put this on."
i opened my mouth to argue, but the look on his face was more than enough for me to be quiet and slip it on.
"thank you" i whispered, sheepish at how much he was having to do because of me.
tewkesbury pulled me into his arms without a word, simply letting the sound of the rain surround the both of us.
after some time had passed, he spoke up.
"truly, y/n. you must understand that you may lean on me if you need to."
"but i-"
"please, y/n. just trust me. i am always here for you if you need me, but that requires you to let me. i cannot help you if you do not let me."
i buried my face into his chest in an attempt to hide the tears that were filling my eyes.
"i don't want to burden you with my worries..." i mumbled, voice muffled by the cloth of his waist coat.
tewkesbury sighed. shifting his grip on the umbrella, he leaned down and gently pressed his lips to the top of my head.
"you're never a burden, my love. not to me."
despite my best efforts not to cry, tears began to find their way down my cheeks, and i hugged him tight.
"i love you tewkesbury."
"i love you y/n."

Stroking Sherlocks soft brown curls between your fingers you couldn't help but give a joyful sigh. It was the perfect day, and Sherlock wanted nothing more than to enjoy the weekend with his girls. After retirement, it took a while for your husband to live a slower life amongst people.
For decades all Sherlock Holmes knew was solving criminal cases, chasing one high with the next. The Consulting Detective was never one to admit that he would become the ‘settle down’ type of man. But after time and great patience, Sherlock Holmes grew to fall in love with what normal people would call human domesticity.
Resting your arm around his neck Sherlock craned his head bringing your hand up, kissing each finger gently as your daughter continued sleeping in his lap. His free hand continued playing with Amelia's curls while his eyes trailed to yours. That piercing green gaze that always sent flutters through your stomach. To most Sherlock wasn't an easy person to read, but this look said it all as you felt the heat rise in your cheeks.
“I love you both so much y/n,” he broke the silence, “You and Amelia have brought me more happiness than anything could ever give,” his lips went back to your hand as he glacially made his way to your wrist. Placing a delicate kiss on your pulse point you released an impulsive groan bringing your legs closer in a foolish attempt to hide what the heart truly desired.
“And I love you S-Sherlock, we both do more than anything in the world,” you quivered, trying to maintain your composure. Nearly waking Amelia you both paused giggling only for her to continue back to her soft snores. She was always a deep sleeper like you and at times like this it served its benefit. Leaning in slowly you kissed Sherlock, feeling him moan against your soft lips, his free hand cupping your chin as if you were porcelain glass. His thumb stroked your skin softly as you leaned into his touch, soft and secure.
“How about we put Amelia to bed and we can have a movie night? I'll even let you pick the film,” you smiled.
Sherlocks hand trailed down resting on his navy clad leg as he sat contemplating your idea. The edge of his lip formed a familiar smirk as he quickly stole another kiss.
“That sounds more than fair,” he agreed.
Sliding your arm off, Sherlock stood up opting to carry Amelia to her room. Her small delicate limbs clung to her fathers frame like a tiny koala as his long fingers played with her soft auburn hair. Tucking her in gently, Sherlock kissed Amelia's forehead whispering sweet nothings, stroking her soft curls that strikingly resembled his own. Next to you, she was perfect in his eyes.
“Good night, my dearest Ameila. Mummy and Daddy love you with all of our hearts,” the timber in his voice spoke with promise, closing the door behind him. With a satisfied sigh he rolled his shoulders back with a feeling of confidence. Like the familiar thrill of solving a case Sherlock Holmes couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear.
The two of you brought him more pride and joy than he ever could imagine. All these years he always felt like a pariah, destined to wander this world alone. Sherlock kept convincing himself that he wasn’t worthy of anything good. But with you, it changed the course of his life for the better. With Amelia, life just became more plentiful.
*****
Making a quick change into your pajamas, you sat at the foot of the bed unaware that Sherlock was standing by the door frame on the side safely assuming he was watching this whole time. His eyes glowed in the low light as he took strides closer, wedging himself between your legs opening them wider, his expression drinking in your lovely features. The curls draped over his forehead as he slowly leaned into you, feeling his breath on your skin sent goosebumps up your flesh.
You pulled away, eyeing him with suspicion playfully taking him in, “penny for your thoughts?”
Sherlocks body towered above you, his big hands cupping your face softly bringing you in for a deep kiss. The feeling of his lips ever inviting as his tongue grazed across your lower lip begging for entrance. Together you moaned in sweet unison as he slipped inside, holding your frame up for support as you kissed with heated passion. Feeling his strong legs between yours you couldn’t help but bring your fingers up to his waistband pulling him closer. It was enough to spur him on as he continued kissing you. All that could be heard was your shared moans as you suddenly pulled away suddenly remembering the plans for tonight.
“Wait. S-Sherlock. What about the film?” You pleaded, his lips trailing your collarbone. The flecks of his tongue against your skin made you release a sharp hiss. His tongue continued nibbling your ear as you melted under his hypnotic touch. Powerful and strong, he was able to read you better than anyone. He pulled away leaving the both of you breathless as he rested his forehead against yours smiling sheepishly.
“I had another plan besides a film my darling. Much more pleasurable plans. And beside,” taking his fingers he slid off your top leaving your top half exposed, “you said I got to pick what I wanted to watch,” throwing the garment on the floor he gave a soft groan. He couldn't help but stare in awe, “and I choose to watch you come undone by me.”
His baritone voice dropped an octave as he was left stunned, “So perfect,” leaving his mouth agape you stood up to kiss him softly. Your bare chest pressed against his form fitting white shirt that was begging to be ripped off. Sherlock leaned in to kiss you once more as you leaned into his touch. The feel of his large hands pressed against your bare skin left goosebumps in their wake. All that could be heard was the sound of Sherlocks whimpers as your fingers threaded through the curls that crowned his head. He always had a weak spot when you grabbed or played with his tresses.
Sherlock was all too eager to accept the guidance as your hand led him to suck on a nipple, followed the other he traced each bud with delicate care. Knowing all the tricks to make your knees buckle. He was feeling you getting impatient as you pulled his head away, leaving him smiling. The sound of his labored breath only turned you on more as your fingers fumbled with the button of his white dress shirt.
You slowly removed his buttoned shirt leaving his top half exposed. The way the moonlight kissed his alabaster skin made your pussy ache. Before you could comprehend Sherlocks palms rested beside you on the bed as you felt the weight shift on both sides of your hips, he wanted more of you as he slowly slid two of his fingers around your waistband. Biting your lips you locked eyes as he slid your bottoms off finally freeing you from your pajamas. He could see the glisten of your eager entrance aching for his attention.
You took a quick hold, grabbing his waistband once more in a desperation to have him closer. Your lips returned in a feral fury as you removed his trousers and boxers in a swift motion. His hands returning to your entrance, you cried a soft moan as his fingers pumped in and out, the feeling was pure ecstasy as you felt your orgasm blossom. It clearly spurred Sherlock on because it made him pick up the pace as his thumb teased in circles around your tender bud.
“Darling you're so beautiful. I love the way you look with my fingers inside of you,” he purred curling his finger in that spot. The sweet spot that always had you see stars. Before you knew it you cried out in pure pleasure as Sherlock watched on, grinning with pride.
Coming down from your high Sherlock paused, bringing a foot up he placed a kiss on your ankle. Hearing you giggle his green eyes glowed as he locked into your gaze. He slowly crawled on top of you kissing up the length of your body, his arms cadging you in as he leaned down kissing you softly. Sherlock was always a passionate person deep down and to find himself lost in this moment was something of a dream. The look of your pebble flushed breasts accompanied by the look in your eyes of pure satisfaction. He wanted this moment etched in the walls of his mind palace forever.
He kissed your forehead trailing down to your nose, his lips found yours as he melted into your touch. The great detective was immensely turned to putty by the one thing he can't live without. You. For you fit him better in more ways than one. He brought himself up aligning his cock at your entrance. Giving a few steady pumps with his hand you took in the glisten of pre cum beading off the tip making you bite your lip once more. Bracing his shoulders for support as he asked, “Are you ready my love?” Sherlock's eyes never left yours as he scanned you for absolute permission.
Taking a hand you cupped the back of Sherlocks neck, bringing him close and kissing him gently. Showing assurance the kiss was soft and bared your heart filled trust. No words were needed as Sherlock slowly thrusted himself in. You both shared a groan as the kiss never broke. Allowing yourself to adjust before he pulled away gently, he locked on your gaze once more purring into your ear.
“Promise me one thing y/n,” he went even slower, itching himself deeper as he slowly bottomed out. Savoring the moment of feeling his cock stretching you so unbelievably full. You clenched slightly causing Sherlocks hands to suddenly dig into your hips knowing damn well it will leave marks.
“W-what's that,” you stuttered as he kept up his thrust, determined to make you feel complete.
Sherlock caged his arms around you as he paused leaning into your ear his voice purred against your ear, “that you're mine. Forever,” returning to his pace your nails dug into his back. Your hand laced the nape of his neck, pulling him in for a deep kiss. A kiss that spoke of untimely promise. He kept up the pace as you moaned once more in pleasure.
“Always!,” feeling your climax blooming, your nails dug into his pale back even deeper, “I promise Sherlock. Now please go faster,” you begged, feeling your heels dig deeper, spurring him on as it only took those words for him to start thrusting into you at such a pace; A pace you will know you'll feel the next day.
“Jesus Sherlock!” You groaned into his neck, his curls sticking to his sweat glistened forehead as he kissed you. Stifling all moans as you rode your climax. The feeling bloomed as his hips moved at this new angle that made you suddenly see stars. Whatever god you were chanting was wasted as Sherlock slammed into you one last time. Your orgasm hit you, making your eyes practically fall into the back of your head as you drenched his cock with your nectar.
“That's my good girl,” he smiled, feeling the praise go right to your solar plexus. You were always a sucker for admiration. He pulled out gently making you wince, you couldn't help but miss the feeling of him. Throwing the blanket iver Sherlock quickly returned with a tray full of essentials. Even after lovemaking he always believed in aftercare. The tray consisted of two sleeptime teas, massage oil and a small stack of what looks like steaming towels.
“You always take such wonderful care of me Sherlock, how did I get so lucky?” He traced a warm towel over your center as he was careful not to overstimulate. He reached for the glass bottle of oil, pouring it over his elegant digits as he signaled you to lay on your stomach. The feeling of his strong hands worked every aching nerve as you sank into the mattress.
“It's not luck y/n I just love taking great care of what is precious to me,” he spoke softly rubbing every part of your skin. The oil felt amazing as he finished with your shoulders sealing the gesture with a kiss he rubbed his hands dry on a towel before reaching for your tea. Covering with the blankets you snuggled closer together as you both sipped your beverages in complete happiness enjoying the moment shared between you both. For life could not be any more satisfying than having you and Amelia at his side.

Taste in books i think each of the sides on Sander Sides would have
Logan: Easiest side to tell since he says his book taste in canon lmao, mistery books guy, agatha christie, sherlock holmes, murders on rue morgue, he just really enjoys a good mistery (he’s just like me fr). He also probably reads books about scientific discoveries and psychological studies on a day to day basis (since he seems to have an answer for everything), either really likes or really hates sci fi depending on the scientifical explanations the books gives
Patton: Ok so, im gonna be honest, i don’t think Patton reads much? In fact hes probably the one who reads the least out of all sides, but he does seem to know his stuff, quoting studies in some episodes ( ‘Can lying be good?’ being the one who comes to mind ), so he probably reads a few articles about Morality and philosophy, also when i imagine Patton reading i imagine children’s books with deep messages like Dr Seuss, so personally i think Patton’s taste in books would be books like “The Tao of Pooh” which explains philosophy in a simple fun way taking inspiration from children’s media.
Roman: Roman’s my favorite side and although i would like to dump my personal taste on him i am aware that he canonically hasn’t read my favorite book and dislikes dark retellings of fairytales, leaving me to tears since those are my favorite kind of story. However i will indulge a bit and say that Roman would love Shakespearean plays ( His favorite would be Hamlet bc it inspired Lion King ) and typical fantasy books. Im also 100% sure that guy has a shelf full of Disney Movie Books like the novelization of Beauty and the beast and the villain’s origin books by Serena Valentino, also has those super pretty Disney Classics books ( lucky mfer ). And obviously he would have the original novels of multiple musicals ( Wicked, Be more chill, Dear Evan Hansen…) and some ballets/non-Disney classics as well (The nutcracker, The wizard of oz, Swan lake… ). Also Harry Potter i guess, since that’s canon 😒
Virgil: We all know what im going to say, Horror fan. Likes Edgar Allan Poe’s stories and classic horror books that inspired movies/series ( Carrie, Ring, the haunting of hill house… ), also reads a concerning amount of True crime about unsolved murder cases, and he has a special edition of the novel of The nightmare before Christmas somewhere trust me. And to self indulge a little, Dark retellings of fairytales, especially the Horror leaning ones.
Janus: I feel like Patton would read simplified philosophy books while Janus would grab shit like The gay science by Friedrich Nietzsche at the local library (never read this book, hilarious title tho), Overall i think Janus’s taste on books would consist of either philosophy and sociology books (especially the ones that annoying people read to keep gloating about how smart they are, except he actually likes them), and influential plays like Shakespeare, The Odyssey, The Iliad, Medea, Phantom of the Opera etc… His taste is the perfect combination of annoying Theater kid with pretentious philosophy kid (He is the guy they strive to be 😭)
Tw: Remus and everything that comes with him
-
Remus: YES, REMUS READS, YOU CANNOT CHANGE MY MIND ON THIS, The books he reads? Very simple, Dark romance and horror, the books are his inspirations for new creative ways to annoy the shit out of the other sides, he is slowly but surely making a list of new horrid murder and torture methods he learned via horror books, also dark romance for him is just romance since he thinks normal romance books are boring and lack taste, some other side definitely walked in on him reading once ( picture him reading on the sofa twirling his hair and bouncing his legs in a very stereotypical teen girl way ) and asked what he was reading only for him to answer something like “ ‘Taken Hostage by the Hot Mafia Boss’ :D” Also definitely read the Kam4 Sutr4.
-
Bonus: Remy/Sleep has a book detailing the multiple different ways on how to brew coffee and Picani has every Kids Show Book he could find ( Gravity Falls 3rd Diary, Star vs the Forces of Evil Book of spells etc… )
ALSO WARNING: If you want to buy any of the books i talked about here be aware there is currently a boycott of Disney and any other properties that have ties to the genocide committed by Israel!! And mainly, i would recommend to grab any book i mentioned in the library since they’re one of the only public community spaces that haven’t shut down yet, support your public library to make sure it stays that way!

sherlock & co. review from an insane person (me) coz this is like. the 25th? sherlock adaptation i've checked out so ofc i have opinions on everything ever. and ik ppl who work on indie podcasts browse tumblr sometimes so just in case you work on this DON'T click keep reading, this post is not for youuu shoo. thanks x
ok so far it's like. fine? which is lowkey sad coz i wish it was smtg i really liked but it hasn't gripped me yet which is a shame but yknow. early days. i'm giving it time since it's only 15 episodes so far
my main issue is like. i really wish it wasn't so obviously influenced by bbc but it just so clearly is which is a shaaame like it's better than bbc in every aspect but yknow. not a high bar to clear. like it kinda feels like they liked a lot of things abt bbc and set out to fix the bad parts (h&w friendship being nonexistent, the mysteries being shit) but just kept the rest? in some places keeping things that were invented by bbc which is. baffling tbh
i'm not really picky when it comes to h&w personalities like i think it's fine to just do whatever you want w them, i think it's really fun when an adaptation gives them different personalities than what you're used to but, and this is where it feels far too bbc-ish for comfort, i just don't like it when sherlock is a cunt for no reason? like. he's not a mean person he's only mean in bbc coz moffat thought house md was cool and ripped it off. can we stop making him mean pleeeease 😭 he's just some guy..................
h&w relationship wise it's like... ok so i tend to go into adaptations with a fully clean slate so like i never let my general attachment to them influence how i view them in specific adaptations, the work itself needs to sell me on both the characters and the relationship and like... here neither of those really happened yet which makes me sad coz i think by now it should've but i'm giving it time. at least they're friends and i like that watson is useful for cases/knows things holmes doesn't sometimes coz thats like. such an essential element to sh stories for me and a loooottt of adaptations tend to just completely forget it so that's a win but idk if anything they're too tame? like i dont expect a romance but they can't just be casual friends they need to be bat shit crazy about each other. to me. but like maybe that'll develop over the rest of the podcast we'll see
kinda related to that point but case-wise i think holmes is a bit too ahead of everyone else sometimes which isn't inherently a problem but it does once again smell of bbc which like. noone should ever emulate moffat writing don't do that 🙏 god bles. but i've been able to solve every case along with/before the mcs which is like. thee point of mystery stories for me so yea i really like the stories themselves so far, especially the way they manage to make them solvable even without visuals or narration. OH and i almost forgot but i rly like the soundtrack, i love it when sh soundtracks have a heavy emphasis on violins coz. yknow
howeverr i am on my hands and knees begging them not to give watson a girlfriend tho like please oh myfffucking god . obvs watsonlock doesn't usually factor into my enjoyment of adaptations given that like. y'know. out of the hundreds out there theres only two where either of them is even gay so it's not something i expect nor require but like. to me it is essential that these two ppl are insane abt each other and don't really have anyone else, definitely noone important. like even the rdj movies got this despite ritchie's obsession w the 2 men 1 woman dynamic so idk why i'm constantly having to wage a war against random unnecessary romances for either watson or, god forbid, holmes. when the only interesting relationship either of these men have is with each other. that one granada holmes quote about them choosing not to include mary coz holmes and watson dont need anyone else etc etc. like i seriously dislike it when they introduce anyone else like cmonnnnnn thog dont care
anyway tldr. i guess if asked to pick a short description i'd say. promising? i hope it's gonna be good in the long run. the way they do mysteries is already something i like so. i hope they keep that up and i hope the h&w relationship evolves into something i enjoy coz so far i'm like. i can see the bones of smtg i'll potentially like but it's not there yet. but also like. this is an indie production i'm listening to for free so ion wanna rip into it these are mainly just what i liked/disliked based on the preferences i developed with this one quick trick (grow up completely insane abt sherlock holmes -> consume every adaptation that you can get your paws on -> no profit)

"Please forgive me. I am not a speech person," Spencer chuckled through the microphone.
I laughed along with the guests, though I felt butterflies go off in my stomach as I awaited his vows.
"I never knew that I could be rendered speechless by someone's beauty," he started, and I was already a crying mess. "You know, you hear about that stuff in movies and songs. For me, it was all those old poems my mom used to read me when I was growing up. I never thought I'd find the person who rendered me speechless. And then, a very dear friend of mine invited me to a house party she was throwing."
Penelope giggled through her own tears, raising her hand. "That's me," she mouthed silently.
"And it was at that house party, that I laid eyes on her," he motioned to me, which only made me cry that much harder. "Now, as everyone here knows, I am not a big fan of small talk. I can't start small talk, I can't carry on small talk."
He turned to face me with a grin plastered straight across his face, and I already knew where he was heading with this.
"But Y/N here had other plans. In fact, I was so blindsided by her plans that I ran away and hid in Penelope's bathroom."
The crowd roared with laughter as we all imagined the scene. It was almost like that night came in a flashback to me—Spencer, leaning up against the wall in Penelope's living room, reading who knows what. A wallflower.
He must've read my mind, seeing as the next thing he said was, "I still can't believe you saw me when I was just a wallflower. You know, the first time it happened, I thought it was a coincidence. But then it happened again. Almost exactly a month later, actually."
I thought back to that night too—leaning against the wall again, reading a much heftier book than he had been the first time I saw him, clearly looking for a way to ignore the real world.
"Hey, wallflower," I smiled, breaking his attention from his novel, "I thought for sure I'd scared you away last time."
He just stared back at me, wide-eyed and almost scared. He muttered some form of words that signaled a feeling of nervousness as he tried to convey he wasn't the small talk type.
"What are you reading?" I asked, pointing to the book in his hands.
"Wh- h- huh?" he stuttered, seeming confused as to why I was talking to him.
"Don't tell me I gave you whiplash or something," I giggled. "Seriously, whatcha reading?"
"Uh… A Study in Scarlet…" he paused to lick his lips. "Why do you ask?"
"You seemed like a cool dude. Or, at least cooler than that guy over there shotgunning beers," I laughed.
He looked over to the guy, letting out a small chuckle. "So," he changed the subject, holding up his book, "Do you like Sherlock Holmes?"
I found myself blushing as I explained, "If I'm being honest, I don't know a thing about Sherlock Holmes."
An awkward silence came over the air as I attempted to find something else to say to him. I racked my brain for topics, compliments—anything.
As he began to open his book back up, I stopped him. "But I do know something about you."
"What's that?"
"I think you're really sweet and cute."
Spencer chuckled as he began to speak again. "You know how some people have meet-cutes?" he asked, earning some form an understanding response from the crowd, "I like to think we had a meet-awkward: two awkward souls destined to be awkward together for, awkwardly enough, forever."
No words could describe the feeling I had for Spencer, especially in that moment. Love felt too weak, adoration seemed like a lousy word, and devotion was simply inadequate.
"I only have a few, short vows—really only one general vow," Spencer explained, "I vow to always be your wallflower. I promise to never change—for your sake, for my sake, for our future children's sake—unless it is for the better."
I knew he meant it, every single word of it. From the very first conversation that Spencer and I held, I knew he'd never change—and something about that brought a sense of comfort I'd never felt before.
"Secondly, I vow to always love you for who you are—my social butterfly," he grinned. "Lastly, I vow to always communicate, even if I was pretty lousy at that when we first met."
I giggled through tears as the crowd let out one, big, collective laugh.
"And now, for the rings," the officiant, also known as David Rossi instructed.
I nearly started to sob all over again as I watched Michael make his way down the aisle (with the help of big brother Henry).
"Here you go, Uncle Spencer," Michael smiled up at Spencer.
Spencer thanked him with a quiet chuckle as he took the ring from him, before turning his attention back to me.
"Here you go," Michael turned to smile at me this time.
"Thank you," I grinned back, looking over the ring in my hand as the two boys walked away.
Rossi gave Spencer and I a small smile before asking, "Have you prepared anything to say for the ring exchange?"
Spencer nodded with a toothy grin of his own. "I give you, Y/N Y/L/N, this ring as a sign of my love. I am honored to be called your husband—your wallflower—from this moment forward until forever."
The only word that seemed to accurately describe what I felt when Spencer slid that wedding band onto my finger was pure, raw, unadulterated bliss. With that ring now on my finger, I felt whole—I felt complete.
I swallowed back my tears as I lifted the ring to Spencer's hand. "I give you, Spencer Reid, this ring as a sign of my love. I am honored to be called your wife—your social butterfly—from this moment forward until forever."
For the first time that day, I witnessed the tears welling in Spencer's eyes finally spill over. His hand shook nervously as I placed the ring on his finger.
Rossi looked between the two of us again, this time with a look of adoration, before he began speaking again. "Spencer, do you take Y/N as your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do," he answered through tears.
"Y/N, do you take Spencer as your lawfully wedded husband?"
I beamed from ear-to-ear as I answered, "I do."
"Then, by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Reid," Rossi grinned, a tear sliding down his own cheek at that point. "I can't believe I am about to say this but, wallflower, you may kiss your butterfly."
Out of all the kisses I shared with Spencer, that was my favorite. I'd found myself speechless many times that day, and even then, I couldn't find words to accurately describe the love, the sentiment, and the pure romance that was shared between our lips when we kissed. The taste of lips against lips, the sound of our loved ones cheering us on, the feeling of our hearts beating in sync—it was easily one of my favorite moments from that whole day.
And it all happened because the butterfly couldn't stay away from the flower.

Welcome one and all to my entry for @reidsbookclub's one year celebration!
I can't lie. My writer's block got the best of me. I tried multiple prompts and... nothing. I even tried something else with this prompt before, and the only thing I can say is that God was on my side, I finally came up with this idea and I am so so so happy with how it turned out. I find myself saying this a lot, but I feel like this is the definition of "good things come to those who wait."
Anyway, sappy part over, but yeah, I hope you guys enjoyed this imagine!

Your elementary posts are inspiring me to rewatch elementary! Which is good bc i love elementary and bad bc i have so much programming homework to be doing.
Anyway, so on the topic of sherlock holmes:
Which screen (movie and tv) adaptation of sherlock holmes have you seen, and which ones do you think are best (true to original holmes) and best (most personally enjoyable to you)?
(I love your meta on fandom stuff in general - no pressure to answer tho! I just feel like you’d give an interesting reply on this)
Elementary is so good, I'm glad I inspired you to rewatch (but also, good luck with your homework lmao)
Now, to answer your question
It's worth noting that I... Did not read the original stories. Or well, I tried, but I didn't vibe with them originally (I tried to read them in high school after receiving a complete copy for my birthday from my sister), didn't get around to giving them a second chance, and eventually just exchanged my copy for some of my friend's books. So I can't really speak to how accurate any of these are to the originals, but I'll guess anyway lmao
So! Adaptations of Sherlock Holmes I've seen, in no particular order
Sherlock (BBC, 2010-2017) - first two seasons and an episode and a half of season 3
My experience of Sherlock BBC was heavily colored by superwholock and the reichenbach pause, which were the reason I watched the show in the first place, as I had not heard of the show previously. 2012-2013 Tumblr was truly another time. I believe around the same time I also binge watched the first two seasons of Game of Thrones, and I had very similar experiences with both of them: investment because they were pop culture phenomenon, and uncritical and quick consumption that left no room for my own feelings to develop. And in both cases when the third season premiered I discovered, much to my surprise, that I didn't actually like the show. I in fact had extremely pointed criticisms of the show, didn't enjoy the characters, and found the viewing experience to be tedious hard work. So... I do not like Sherlock (BBC), and never really did, although I continued to participate in superwholock as a fandom until its decline. The release of Sherlock is Garbage and Here's Why (dir. Hbomberguy, 2017) was an incredibly satisfactory experience, as it experienced my criticisms extremely well, and put to words my feelings that I hadn't even managed to turn into criticisms, plus pointing out flaws I hadn't even noticed. SiGaHW is one of my favorite films, a twice-yearly watch. Highly recommended. That said, Sherlock itself sucks and is both a bad show and has uncompelling "mysteries". Bad as an adaptation of the original stories and bad as in just bad. Bad.
Elementary (CBS, 2012-2019) - all seven seasons
I enjoy Elementary a great deal. I think it's sort of a model modern procedural, with the cases of the week nearly always being compelling to watch and the emphasis on the developing character dynamics being one of my favorite aspects. There are seasons I enjoy more or less but that's nearly always because of the ongoing subplots (Morland and Moriarty were significantly more compelling than Shinwell, for example) than the actual cases of the week, which again, are pretty much always extremely solid. I've rewatched this show several times, and I think it's extremely enjoyable. It's not perfect, but it gets points for, for example, having Mrs. Hudson be a trans woman all the way back in the early 2010s, and having an autistic woman as a love interest who felt like a genuine well rounded woman. It's also occasionally a little critical of the police in a way that stands out for a crime procedural, which is cool, but only a little. All in all, I like the show a lot, although it's not my favorite on this list. That said, the crime procedural is pretty much the most natural way to adapt the spirit of the original Holmes stories into modern day media, and it uses pretty much every notable character from the stories eventually including some of the mysteries (I really like the hounds storyline adaptation in particular!), so I think this wins best adaptation.
Sherlock Holmes (dir. Guy Ritchie, 2009) - just the first one
I'll be real with you I don't remember anything about this movie except that I watched it and had a fine time.
House (Fox, 2004-2012) - all eight seasons
Y'all know I'm currently in House brainrot, so obviously this ends up on the list. Excellent television, especially for people like me who live for a good procedural and were looking for something that wasn't a cop show. House is Holmes, Wilson is Watson, and the occasional Sherlock Holmes canon reference shows up, such as the guy who shot House being named Moriarty in the credits, or Wilson bullshitting the second gen ducklings about a woman named Irene Adler who was The Woman for House. It's a very good show - although not currently my favorite on the list - and any mystery of the week format is going to be at least a little inspired by the o.g., but it doesn't win over Elementary, which has actual murder and crime mysteries.
The Irregulars (Netflix, 2021) - like two episodes
Based on the concept of Sherlock's canon irregulars but it's a fantasy show! I heard great things but did not end up clicking with it. Obviously by virtue of it being a supernatural show it's not very based on the original, but at least there's mysteries that must be solved?
Sanctuary (Syfy, 2008-2011)
This show is the kind of thing I'd watch when it was on, back in the days where I would watch my parents' satellite television instead of downloading whole seasons of shows on my laptop (as I didn't have a laptop yet lmao). I remember it having dense plots, and vaguely remembered that one of the characters was Sherlock Holmes, and I googled it - it's actually Watson. But hey, that counts, so I included it. I remember enjoying the show but I could not tell you if it was actually good because my taste in 2010 was a bit of a mixed bag on account of me being 12. Anyway I would say it's probably a terrible adaptation and they most likely didn't even try considering the kind of show it was, and I wouldn't call it my favorite.
Psych (USA, 2006-2014; movies 2017, 2020, 2021) - eight seasons, 3 movies
Finally we reach my favorite of these shows. Is it the best one? Idk that's probably a competition between Elementary and House, really, because Psych gets quite silly in the later seasons. But I really do love this show and these characters so much. Like House, it is only a little inspired, but even more loosely so, with really only the idea of a guy who's really smart and eccentric and his best friend who seems normal but really is a bit of a freak (in Gus' case, actually way weirder than Shawn) sticking around. Shawn has eidetic memory and is wicked smart, and actually makes for some really good ADHD rep in my opinion. The comedy usually lands and the romance plot is one of my favorite slow burns and the serial killer episodes are high quality as shit and I love that there's a pineapple hidden in every single episode and I just. I love this show I love it so much
Anyway these are all the adaptations I've seen that I could think of. It's possible I missed something but only the kind of thing that doesn't say Holmes on it; I haven't seen Enola Homes, for example.
Thank you so much for asking I really appreciated this thought exercise of trying to remember every single bullshit TV show I've ever seen because, um, I've seen a lot of TV if I'm going to be honest.
Sorry for taking two weeks this was surprisingly hard and I have. A job

Hi, question for this thing https://www.tumblr.com/speedofsoundsketches/712997754853605377/i-noticed-that-you-have-made-it-clear-that-you-are?source=share
So, as I understand, you would appreciate a spin off that was not canon but could reasonably fit in the story as an alternate ending or something? Like Chronicles? Or any of the fan mad comics that show up around here?
I actually wrote something regarding this on twitter so I'll just add screenshots of those.
Tumblr media
This reminds me of a conversation I had with my grandfather years ago. He's a big fan of Sherlock Holmes and grew up not only reading the books but also the classic film and tv adaptations.
When the movie version with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law came out, he had a scathing opinion of it, saying it was "nothing like the books" and they "focused on silly action more than the actual solving of the mystery". Something along those lines.
I read the original books too and greatly enjoyed them as well. Though in terms of adaptations, I grew up mostly on "Great Mouse Detective" or "Sherlock in the 22nd century". I'd seen some of the black and white ones but they were a bit too advanced for me as a kid.
In light of this, I actually really loved the Guy Ritchie Sherlock movies. They were more action oriented sure but I even said this to my Papa that the one thing they at least seemed to get accurate was the chaotic and slightly more equal friendship between Holmes and Watson. And to me, that's the true heart of Sherlock and the reason why we care so much to even follow the misadventures of a manic-depressive, drug-addicted loony who can't form meaningful relationships with most people. In fact, it's even more accurate than a number of older adaptations that depict Watson as a slow, portly dummy when in the books, he's a more rugged, handsome, capable and intelligent person. Just not as brilliant as Holmes.
Despite how much disdain my Papa had for the movies, he was willing to begrudgingly agree on that point.
So, these criticisms may have made me seem like I'm being uncharitably unfair or a stick in the mud. It's more that depending on the actual goal of any adaptation, I can be very open-minded if it at least sticks the landing. Especially when great spin-offs do exist that show by example how it's done.
The Sonic movies just are not good on their own. Take away any Sonic affiliation and you have a typical kids movie that feels so status quo and lazy in its tone, writing and characterizations. Were it not Sonic and something original, there'd be nothing to write home about it and it would've been forgotten like many others of its kind.
At least with the Sherlock or Dark Knight movies in comparison, they may not be "perfect" in the goal of an adaptation. But in the goal of "telling a good, solid and memorable story with characters we're familiar with" I'd say they've got Sonic beat by a loooooong mile.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thank you so much for the tag ((and drag)) @carbonbased000! this was very fun and thoughtful to do.
who is writing things right now? i never remember. i will tag a wide and perhaps not terribly relevant range of: @toorational @just-about-nothing @27-royal-teas @leyley09 @alienfuckeronmain @stereostatic @setting-in-a-honeymoon and anyone else so inclined!
++
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
65
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
968,103, but as i’ve said before, i have orphaned a lotta fic as well
3. What fandoms do you write for?
pretty much just Fall Out Boy, but i will occasionally dabble in something random! this includes tony stark femslash (not sorry, will not apologize), cobra kai, and anything about girls or characters who could compellingly be made into girls.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
The Difference Between Real Love and the Love on TV
Stranger Danger
Boys Next Door / Assholes
From Russia With Love (this is one of those random sidesteps, a MCU femslash epistolary)
Jet Black Crow
(As an aside, it is so wild to me that older fics have so many more kudos than newer ones—you can really tell that fob went 5 years between albums! imo this is NOT a list of my best fic.)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
for years, I responded to every single one! then at some point i fell behind because of my high standards for trying to put the same thought and effort into my responses as all you lovely people put into the comments, then i became overwhelmed, then i stopped. I AM SO SORRY IF I OWE YOU RETURN COMMENTS, i read them and i treasured them and you are a huge part of the reason i keep writing. love u all!!!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I only write happy endings, man! I stopped writing tragedies a long time ago. My angstiest fics are red and unafraid of living and In Every Universe. the end of Made One Way (Cobra Kai) is ambiguous and potentially brutal, depending on how you take it.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
um, every single other one! I’m a big fan of the gory fairy tale ending of The Boys Time Can’t Capture, and transmuting the hiatus into an act of mutual care and love in Sell Out Girl meant so much to me.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
not since my first fandom and god, don’t
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
yes, a bit, could probably write a little less about feelings and a little more about feelings if u know what i mean. I’m super into sex as a person so i almost never write about intense romantic connections without bringing smut into it somehow; they feel really tightly linked for me, and i think i also crave media with HOT and INTIMATE connections between queer people. In terms of kind, i guess i’d have to say it’s largely rushed vanilla emotion-and-orgasm driven scenes. not a very flattering oeuvre i've created here.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
mash-ups are my favorite thing to do! I especially like ripping off movie and fairy tale plots and making them stranger, or else taking a really specific constrained timeline from someone’s life or a piece of media and transforming it somehow. best sandbox ever. my craziest one is probably the coyote ugly / beauty in the beast peterick fic, Wolves Dressed As Wolves. and i love this type of transformation in everything, whether it's the weirdo gender shit i just learned duchamp was doing or katherine addison's destructively beautiful 'sherlock holmes except there're ANGELS' novel or the buenos aires re-imagining version of vivaldi's four seasons by piazzolla, my life and taste keeps taking me into the various ways we fold and refract and remake the same experiences over and over again through different lenses or angles or selves. to quote some author whose identity i forgot years ago, though the quote remains: "there are no new stories." all art is iterative, and the most interesting thing we can do as creators is deviate in new, unexpected ways.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
yeah, a million years ago on deviantart
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
yes! I have had a few translations and a podfic. I love it when people want to interact with my stories in their own way, all interpretations are welcome.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
one day i hope to be domesticated enough that @carbonbased000 can write with me. I used to co-write by passing the laptop back and forth with my bestie in high school; we wrote self-insert x-men fanfiction based on the comic books in like 2004 and it was an absolute blast; but generally i am considered impossible to work with, by both myself and others.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
i feel completely unqualified to answer this question. i have been driven insane by any number of pairings in my life. when i was younger, i was more interested in internalized homophobia themes in ships, because that's where WE were culturally in the early 2000s and where i was in relationship to myself, and i think each change and growth and greater empowerment and self-possession in my own life is mirrored in what i am interested in. i feel the most drawn in by dynamics between people that are creative and give me a new way to access and explore interesting ideas and themes; i’m a real sucker for shared art products and touring bands as unique and agonizing ways to connect people. there are so many different ways to express that someone is your soulmate and you'll never convince me throwing away all trappings of a traditional life in order to rove the earth and make art with your friends isn't one of them.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
do you not just block out your WIPs from your mind so that you can live in moment-to-moment freedom?? I am a finisher in general, i have a few peterick drafts lurking around in my gdocs but if they remain untouched, it’s generally because there are only a couple thousand words to them and i’m not very excited about the possibilities of the fic. there is a sequel to a meticulously historically accurate pirate fic i wrote long ago called Providence, i got to about 30k and then lost all of my extremely painstaking notes and research in a software update. I’m still very interested in and excited by the idea, but i lost the notes and felt too traumatized to continue with the project genuinely a decade ago, so the idea that i will return and finish the fic seems fairly unlikely. Providence is one of my greatest pieces of writing ever, though, so hope springs eternal, i guess!
16. What are your writing strengths?
lyrical prose and conveying humor via unusual sentence construction. i was recently told i write arguments well and feel tough as a result, like, watch out! you don’t want to fight me!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
i am lazy and easily distractible, i don’t plot in advance, i barely edit because i get really rigid and have trouble seeing any other way to say something than how i’ve already said it, i have an unwillingness to delete and rewrite even when that’s the only way forward (see: my eternally 90% finished age swap peterick au), i use up all my emotional energy elsewhere and then neglect my craft for weeks at a time.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
sometimes i’ll use pet names in another language if it makes sense for the character, but i avoid this in general as i’m not fluent in anything other than english. I would, have, and do sound like a duolingo lesson.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
afi bandom, when we used to call it slash, when i thought i had invented it with my friend at summer camp, when i was 13 and sent her kidfic stories i wrote out by hand in pink envelopes.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
genuinely i almost always write things i personally want to read, so i love them all! except the fucking fixed stars of heaven, everyone knows that fic tortured me to within an inch of my sanity. My most personal and personally meaningful fic is Girl Out Boy. i have a tattoo of it on my arm.

15 questions and 15 mutuals
thank you so much for the tag, @gilliandersons 🤍
were you named after anyone?
my dad says the most beautiful girl he's ever known had my name and he met her in uni but I'm not sure if it's really how I got my name. when my parents were naming me, not many people liked it because it was an old and forgotten name (although it was used in one side of my family frequently back in the day, which I have found out not so long ago). two years after I was born, almost every girl had this name here lol my dad keeps saying I was a trendsetter
when was the last time you cried?
like two weeks ago when I found out my vacation trip for the summer that was supposed to be just my mum & I having a girl time is no longer going to happen because she decided to take her boyfriend with us, too... and I hate him 😔 and he hates me... 😐
do you have kids?
I'm 25 and getting my second Masters degree lol
do you use sarcasm a lot?
almost all the time and it's the reason why I don't vibe with certain type of people but I don't even care 🤷🏻‍♀️
what's the first thing you notice about people?
looks, clothes, the way they speak etc. not to judge who is rich or popular etc. because that's primitive but it says a lot about what kind of person I am dealing with. it says a lot about their background, even their parents' education. I feel like a little Sherlock Holmes then lol and funnily enough, I'm rarely wrong...
what's your eye color?
hazel brown (one eye is more brown, one is more green)
scary movies or happy endings?
both is good! I love creepy horrors about demons and witches etc. but I also love a happy ending (maybe not in a horror movie, though)...
any special talents?
I'm sort of a witch in denial because I kinda don't believe in this shit but it keeps happening to me and I find it funny when I see all those spiritual girls trying so hard with their unethical crystals and paraffin candles and here I am, not wanting this and not vibing with this but still receiving energy against my will
where were you born?
poland
what are your hobbies?
literature, cinema, music, the sims 4 (building and furnishing apartments the most!), some fashion and some history, some mythology
have any pets?
two cats 😊 my baby boys!
what sports do you play/have you played?
I wanted to play football when I was younger and by football I mean soccer just to be clear although saying soccer makes me angry because there's only one football ⚽
how tall are you?
1'69
favorite subject in school?
polish, english, history, culture class
dream job?
• nepo baby • modern day royal lady • mafia princess • 70s it girl • librarian in an old library that earns enough money to survive (as realistic as the ones above)

I just finished watching the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen...and I have...thoughts (along with some bad grammar)
This is an overall negative post, so if you don't like that keep scrolling. If you like this movie, go ahead and scroll on past if you don't want to read this. If you want to debate me, then hell, go ahead, I might be wrong in some areas and I'm fully willing to admit that. I'd love to see anyone's take on this movie.
To say real quick, I haven't finished reading Dracula (over 1/2 through tho), Sherlock Holmes, 4 billion leagues under the sea, and a few others.
Also...spoilers...obv
(last note: I am not against retellings or that stuff, I'm just rating it on MY OPINION of these little guys and all that stuff. This is depending on how much I like them from just a writers sense.)
Tbh I really love the idea of crossovers, I love so much seeing the babies all together (I am working on a crossover myself so...) but I feel like this one was just...mediocre
First up Jekyll!
Number one, assuming this takes place after the novella, that is not how HJ7 works. Jekyll turning back into Hyde is not right then. At that point, Henry would be living on a timer rather than Hyde.
Also, little pet peeve...THE POTION SHOULD BE GREEN!!!! THE POTION'S FINAL COLOUR IS GREEN AND THEY MADE IT CLEAR!!!
Also Jekyll is a doctor, he acts like the fucking wimpy Swiss man from Frankenstein. Jekyll is meant to be a (mentally) strong man who experimented on himself and kept good notes during the whole thing. He is a doctor; he is used to seeing some shit.
Also...why would you make Hyde look like that? One of the few clear physical descriptions in the book is that Hyde is much shorter than Jekyll, but he's...hulkish. I don't like that because it takes the monstrosity away, pinning it all on looks and not on action.
Also why Paris? Why did Hyde run to Paris? There wasn't really a reason for him to do that in a writing sense.
Upside: At least he continues to run on rooftops. All Hydes run on rooftops; it is not optional.
Next on the Chopping block is Dorian.
For a moment there, I really thought they ruined Dorian, but hell yeah! They kinda did it!
I wish they'd had another actor to play him, since the dark hair makes him look a little malicious, which is quite the opposite of what he's supposed to look like. He's supposed to be a child-like and innocent; deceiving.
Also...what the fuck was his ending?? Like he doesn't perish if he looks at the portrait. It literally says earlier that "the last time [he] looked at the picture" which literally contradicts what happens later. He can look at the picture, but chooses not to.
I am glad they decided to not have him redeem himself. That fits a little closer to the book.
For Mina!
Quick thing: I have not yet finished reading Dracula, so I have no clue what's happening there or why she's the vampire (please don't spoil it) so I won't say anything on that (cough cough...should've been Carmilla)
I don't like making women the sole love interest. It feels weird. Literally three people liked her (well only 2, Dorian was pretending) out of five. Make it interesting, make it something someone would ship...there is literally no chemistry between any of them (except Dorian, and we don't even get a proper "oh yeah I hooked up with him" moment. It's only implied. When did that happen???). Also, Mina isn't that kind of person. She's (in book) not looking for romance in that sense, she had a husband, and I'm pretty sure she'd probably stay faithful to him even after death.
Speaking of Chemistry, why tf is she a chemist? Jekyll should've been the chemist. Mina is literally known for being able to write in shorthand, and they could've used that to her advantage. Again, please excuse this if somehow Mina does become a scientist after Dracula, but considering people's views on women in that time period, it's unlikely.
Skinner:
I think that's his name...idk. I have not read the Invisible Man, but why would they kill off Griffin? Like Jekyll dies, but he doesn't have a replacement. I can't say much since I haven't read the book.
I think that's all.
Thank you coming to my Little Leo lecture, and I hope anyone reading agrees, or can hopefully handle this as a mature adult. If you have other thoughts on this movie (whether they agree with mine or not) go ahead and share them, I'd be thrilled.
I may update this as I have things to say, but idk.

SHERLOCK HOLMES
Sherlock Holmes just might be the most misrepresented character ever (in my opinion of course). In most modern media they make Sherlock out to be a cold, nonchalant, doesn’t care about feelings, will always figure out a case, overall asshole type of guy.
but he’s really not! When I first read the series, I was surprised that Sherlock was just a normal dude. He has emotions and REACTS TO THINGS THAT SHOCK HIM. I hate it when they portray him with almost superpower abilities. the point of the stories where you trying to figure out the truth WITH Sherlock, that’s part of the appeal. but in shows like BBC Sherlock, he has a MIND PALACE???? and the way they made us perceive how his mind worked was otherworldly???? hmm????? He cannot just randomly know things that weren’t told before. bro doesn’t just know how shit works. he is NOT a superhero. idk that just peeved me a lot.
then there’s his personality. No he is not some aloof, lone wolf cool guy. He is, and i will always stand by this, a big ol nerd who gets excited when he infers something correctly and who info-dumps any and all information he has at the moment to his bestie for the restie.
but i will say, sometimes Sherlock is not all there for people. it’s not that he doesn’t know how peoples emotions work, it’s that he doesn’t give a shit. an example of this that i think is quite funny is when Sherlock is ENGAGED to a woman named Agatha(in the span of a very short time, bravo to him on that ngl), who is the villains house keeper, so he can get a layout of the villains house so he can rob the guys house. Watson is of course freaked out when Sherlock tells him this. The detectives response is “I needed answers Watson.” which in my opinion is funny as hell. He will literally do anything for the bit. but yeah. He is sometimes a pain in the ass. but that’s not his ONLY character trait. like come on now.
And poor poor Watson, you probably forgot about him while reading this. That poor guy is always overshadowed in media. it’s so sad to see. He was such an important part of the stories, he literally narrated every single story (cept for like one where sherlock wrote it cause he said it wasn’t that hard to write a story and Watson made him do one. hehe). He literally make Sherlock popular by putting his stories in the paper. Watson is portrayed as… I can’t even tell you honestly. He’s just “the sidekick” and nothing else. The Private Life of sherlock holmes from the 70s portrayed Watson as an annoyed roommate who’s always a lil irritated. and that was great! (that movie is awesome and cool btw you should watch it) he is not only the guy that narrates sherlock and stands in the background. In the Hounds of the Baskervilles, Watson was the guy doing most of the work. Sherlock popped in at the end to save the rich guy or whatever.
OH, and the relationship of Watson and Sherlock that the media portrays is HORRIBLE. IT IS THE WORST. NO Holmes is not mean to Watson, he cares about him cause they’re FRIENDS!!!!! Don't get me wrong, I love gays, they like each other!!!!! and no, it’s not always in a gay way. I actually hate it when people ship friends together just cause. like they’re really good friends. Holmes would be a terrible boyfriend. Watson is too good for him.
so those are some of my thoughts on my favorite book series <3333

Rules: List 10 comfort shows and then tag 10 people
I was tagged by the lovely @morganathewitch to list my go to comfort shows, but since I don't watch a lot of shows, I'm gonna include movies mainly! I will include either stills from each movie and/or a song from the ost.
1. Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette:
This is easily one of my favorite movies and it's the first thing that comes to my mind if someone asks what my all time favourite movie is. It is visually stunning, the soundtrack is perfection, and Kristen Dunst did an incredible job portraying the young Marie Antoinette!
2. Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes:
This one is a great watch during autumn. Robert Downey Jr, to me, is Sherlock. The soundtrack is also excellent.
3. The Color of Pomegranates (aka Sayat Nova) dir. Sergueï Paradjanov:
How can I not include this visually stunning film?? It tells the life of the medieval Armenian poet Sayat Nova. Paradjanov uses visual means to convey the story which makes it feel like a poem is being painted (if this makes any sense!) I recommend checking this video before or after watching the film.
youtube
4. Amelie (or Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain):
This speaks to my inner hopeless romantic. I don't relate to it as strongly as I used to, but it's still a solid and gorgeous film. The story telling is quirky, but in a good and comfy way.
5. One Piece (the Netflix Live Action):
The second I watched half of episode 1, I fell in love with this show. As someone who loves the anime, I was anxious about this version being silly or even, pardon the term, cringey. However, it's like seeing the source material for the first time. The cast, story, costumes, the soundtrack, etc is perfect and it'll always be a definite comfort watch for me.
6. Faust (1926):
I've been watching silent movies a lot this year, and though I enjoyed plenty, this one stands out to me particularly. Despite being made in the 20s, the production is spot on. The visuals and special effects are incredible and it's also a perfect autumn watch!
Tumblr media
7. Only Lovers Left Alive:
I adore this movie. I mean 2 vampires who are passionate about music and literature... sign me up! Obviously, there's more to it, but I recommend watching with no clue about it if you're into vampires!
8. The Hunchback of Notre Dame:
I had to include a Disney movie here and this is easily my all time favourite. After reading the novel by Hugo, I have a newly found appreciation for the Disney version.
9. Fantasia (1940):
As a visual person, this one speaks to my soul. It's, not only, the reason why I started appreciating classical music, but I also get inspired by the animation for my watercolor paintings.
10. Peau d'âne:
Last but not least, I've decided to revisit this gem from my childhood, and it still stands the test of time in my humble opinion. It's whimsical and simply camp; I'm actually surprised that no one on the met gala didn't take inspiration from it!

🌼 Big Info/Update on my "Coco" Book 🌼
Tumblr media
So it's almost been a year ...
Wow! What a journey so far! I wanted to take my time to talk to you "every dear one of you who loves my art and follows me" for a bit. Now, this will be a long post so keep that in mind!
I cannot remember a year in which I went through so many changes. I grew a lot mentally and I learned a lot. When I first watched Coco, I didn't know at all what kind of impact it will have on me. I know it did for a whole lot many more than just me. It's not just a movie, it's something that moved my heart in depths I cannot explain. Look, the only movie franchise who ever was able to impact me that deeply was Lord of the Rings/Hobbit, but then Coco came along and well ... Héctor! ... and Ernesto.
Tumblr media
But talking about Héctor in every little detail possible is planned for another post. There is so much! And Ernesto even more. Ernesto is actually (has actually) been my biggest surprise this year 🤯 And let me tell you why for a little because this is a important part of this whole post!
Tumblr media
Villains. We all know what a villain is. When I first saw Ernesto, I was instantly drawn to his charmful personality. I love mexico! I love mexicans, (they happen to be one of the funniest, kindest and most temperamental ones I ever came across and they understand how to celebrate life and death!) At first, we only see what Ernesto can do without knowing anything just yet. I was blown! Let me get this down, he's a musícan with a inrcedible voice (I have an opera education background so I connect to his trained voice), he's a actor, a showman, he's a phenomenal horseback rider and he's handsome! I don't need to tell you about the punch in the guts you end up having later!
Tumblr media
Oh, yes! Something I would say! Seriously! I do act like that whenever I am burning for something! *cough* snowflakes quite recently! It was late and my boss only had 1 client left and it started snowing big flakes and I went full child excited mood "think Ernesto and fireworks" until they hit me with their "Augh, snow! Cold, wet, annoying!" And then I literally turned into this cinematic drama queen telling them about nostalgia and the spirit of christmas! *laugh* Their faces 😆 Bah humbug! Truly!
Can you imagine Ernesto in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge? I can! 😆 Héctor, Ceci and Imelda as the 3 spirits of christmas. Yes sir! I want that for christmas! *cough* aaand I'm rambling! I was talking about my book ... yes ... back to that!
Anyway! Moving on! I've told you before that as an INFP personality it's in my nature anyway to think and feel myself deeper into things (whatever they are) and I need about 2 or 3 rows to analyze and solidifying my opinion. That's what happened with Ernesto. Yes, at first I was "heck this guy!" Mildly said, I did not like Ernesto. One. Bit. I was mad and I, for the first few moments, labled him as a villain too! But then I rewatched and rewatched and rewatched Coco and I analyzed Ernesto. And after I went "wait a dang minute!" I realized, no, this man is certainly not your typical "Bad guy!" And after my Dad "an ex-soldier and chef prison guard" confirmed my analysis, I started researching and studying on human behavior, trauma (PTSD) and especially psyche! Now, I wanted to do this anyway because of Héctor and Imelda but it played into my hands with Ernesto. But it also flipped my whole opinion of him. It is a canon fact, that Héctor and Ernesto grew up together and were like brothers to each other and I had the statement, that Ernesto isn't proud of what he's done. Oh boy did that flip tables for me! Because guess what! A true villian is evil, period. You don't go thinking about any redemption because they are that far gone! And a truly rotten, evil soul does not regret their actions or deeds, they are perfectly fine and content with them. I would love to share my whole Sherlock Holmes 🔎 action I did on Ernesto with you but I can't because that would def. spoil everything that is to come!
Ok, this whole Ernesto case has changed and impacted my book! And not only that. The longer I wrote, I got back my grammar and writing skills (after not truly writing for years!) I improved and only after months and then going back to the first half of my book, I realized that many things weren't the way I wanted them anymore. The plot was now solid (wasn't at first) some age/timeline aspects changed! I tweaked some things! Grammar too. And that means I will need to go over my whole first bunch of chapters eventually!
Now I really know where my book is heading! From beginning to end! I now have the silver lining! That also means, the Title of my book has changed! But I will change it in time, not just yet!
The thing with Ceci 👓
Tumblr media
Honestly, when I first included Ceci in my book, I, just like with many things, as I mentioned, had no idea what to do with her! I knew I wanted her in, because of that one scene! She instantly had me with her sassy attitude. And since it was pretty clear that she and Héctor knew each other and that she's been helping him not only once, I knew that there had to be a connection. And so I went with it. But that was still raw and not well thought through. That came fairly quickly though! And by now, Ceci is, next to Imelda one of the main characters! She plays a big role and she will be very important for the future!
My Book - Not just any other Fanfic
Tumblr media
I know that everyone has their own opinion, view of things and headcanons. This is mine! But while it is my headcanon, I had the goal from the moment I sat down and decided "I'm going to do this!" To make my book feel as canon as possible. I knew I didn't just want to create yet another "great" fanfiction, I wanted to create something that is way more than just that. Something that could give huge Coco fans like me something back. Something that has an impact, something that shares what I have in my heart at least a little! I wanted to do something that hasn't been done before! And for once, I dedicated myself to it, no matter how long it will take, I will finish it! Oof, didn't that sound like something Héctor would say?
This thing has become my baby! 😂
I wanted to stay "true" to each character, stay in line and make readers go "yep, that's how it all happened" I wanted the characters to stay real and authentic. I didn't want to change them or make them do things that would fall out of their character. I knew I wanted my book to circle around Héctor mainly but the longer I worked on it, the more I understood that Ernesto, Ceci and Imelda are just as much of a part of Héctor! And developing their story, they became a huge part.
I wanted and still want to bring emotions across as if you'd feel them! I also knew and now I know even more, that my book is "in no way" for children! It is in everyway for us adults, for teens at least! Because I go deeper and touch on topics that are scary, painful, harsh and dark. You'll see that even more in chapters to come!
Conclusion ❗️
Since it's a real book I am working on, I realized that it is pretty normal that some chapters take weeks, sometimes even months to write. I understood that it's ok to take my time! And if it ends up taking me 2 or 3 years to finish it. I stopped feeling guilty when I cannot post new content fast enough because it just takes a lot of time and effort. And besides my passions, life happens and continues. Work happens to be exhausting sometimes, not all weekends end up being a free-time for me. And there are family gatherings, normal things to do, as plain as grocery shopping. And recently, christmas. But I appreciate every time I get to work on my book and my art!
-
So, yes, I had to get to this conclution on my own. While it is clear for others. And that has everything to do with my personality. I love pleasing people and making people happy. And by all means, I love love love what I do! If I could I would double my arms and work on more tings faster! Sometimes I wish I could stay home and work on my hobbies only but that isn't going to happen for me.
So at that point. I want to say "Thank you!" AGAIN! For all you guys who have been sticking around so far! For all the kind words! I hope you'll stick around for the next year/years to come and keep Coco alive!
🌼 Coco is timeless 🌼
It is so much more than just bringing across a deep important message! It has earned itself a very special place in my heart! It has caused me to pick up writing again, and it made me pick up my guitar and finally learn it! I will finish telling Héctor's story! And Ernesto's along with it! And I am no longer scared if some might end up hating it or calling me crazy for it! Because, like Héctor said, then I am, un poco loco! And I want to be nothing else!
