Hugs with Ron Weasley would include
Pairing: Ron Weasley x fem!reader
Warning: no
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He definitely smells like cinnamon and citrus.
Loves it when you touch his hair during hugs.
Ron is quite a shy boy, so you were the first to hug him.
Then he was very confused.
His cheeks were pink with blush.
He won't be the first to hug you for a while.
Because he's shy.
But when he gets used to it.
At any moment.
Anytime.
Hugs from behind when you two are talking to someone.
Hugs before going to bed.
His hand is always on your shoulder or waist.
Sleeping with you in an embrace.
Puts his hand on your shoulder when you are sitting in the library.
If you study in Gryffindor.
Puts his hand on your shoulder when you have breakfast, lunch or dinner in the great hall.
Loves it when you hug him from behind.
He always blushes at such moments.
Warm hugs when he wraps you in a blanket.
When you feel bad, he doesn't rush to hug you.
Because he's afraid of making it worse.
But if you ask, he will be happy to support you and hug you.
If he feels bad, he won't ask you to hug him either.
But if you hug him at such a moment, his mood will noticeably improve.
Anyway, Ron likes to hug you.

Like a New Penny- Ron Weasley x OC
Ron Weasley x Rayna Longbottom
Description: Ron seemed so excited to go to the Yule Ball? What made his attitude change so quickly? Rayna had no idea, but she’s determined to find out.
Work Count: 2.1k
Tumblr media
“Would you like to go to the Yule Ball with me?” Ron asked nervously. Rayna stopped in the middle of lifting her spoonful of porridge into her mouth and looked at him. She studied him carefully, noting that he was rubbing his hands nervously.
“Is this why you’ve been acting weird all week? Because you wanted to ask me to the ball?” She couldn’t help but laugh as she spoke. Ron blushed in embarrassment and lightly pushed her from across the table.
“Hey! Don’t laugh at me. This is scary stuff,” he defended, crossing his arms. Rayna shook her head with a small smile.
“Ron, I’d love to go to the ball with you. It’d be an honor.” Ron seemed to perk up at her answer and a wide grin appeared on his face.
“Really? Great!” She laughed at his exclamation and took his hand.
“Of course really. What kind of girlfriend would I be if I said no?” She asked as if it was obvious, which it was.
“A smart one,” Harry joked as he sat down beside Ron. He, in turn, punched his arm as he and Rayna laughed.
“And who have you asked to the Yule Ball, Harry? Being the champion, I know girls are just dying to go with you,” Rayna asked, going back to her porridge. Harry blushed, and glanced behind him long enough for Rayna to follow his line of sight. She smirked when Cho Chang smiled at him then went back to whispering to her friends.
“I’ve got my eye on someone,” he responded simply before filling his plate. Ron and Rayna shot each other a knowing look. Shortly after Rayna finished eating, she stood and gathered her things.
“Well, I have to be going. Hermione and Anna wanted to go dress shopping before the sales expired. Love you,” she informed, kissing Ron’s cheek and calling a bye to the two boys before walking out. Ron watched her with a dreamy look in his eye before hoots came from just outside.
“Mail’s here,” he spoke simply as Pigwidgeon flew through the window on the roof with a package in his claws. He dropped the package on the table in front of him then waited for Ron to feed him before flying back out.
Ron tore through the packaging assuming it was his Yule Ball attire from his mother, but stopped when his eyes fell upon it.
“What’s this? Is it a dress?” He asked, holding it up. Harry took one look at it and laughed, turning to face him.
“Oh how pretty, does it come with a bonnet,” he took a second to grab something out of the box and laughed. “It does!” Ron ignored him and faced his little sister, who was just a few seats away, with a nervous look.
“Ginny, I think mum’s sent me your dress,” he added, looking at her. Ginny stared at him and laughed before taking a sip of her pumpkin juice.
“That’s not a dress Ron, that’s your suit,” she explained after Ron questioned her. He sat back down with a defeated sigh.
“What am I going to do? I’ll be the laughing stock if I show up in this,” he said, throwing the clothes back onto the table carelessly. “Merlin, what would Rayna say?” His eyes widened as the thought came to him. Harry rested a hand on his shoulder.
“Calm down, Ron. We can figure it out, but you know Rayna won’t mind what you wear,” he attempted to calm him down. Ron shook his head.
“She’ll be so embarrassed,” he continued. Ginny rolled his eyes and scooted closer to them, setting her hands on the table.
“Rayna won’t care what you wear, you know that Ronald.” He sighed at her words. Of course she won’t say anything because that’s the kind of person she was. He wouldn’t put her through that embarrassment, he couldn’t.
“I’ll see you guys later,” he mumbled, packing the box back up before picking it up and leaving the Great Hall. Harry and Ginny gave each other a worried look, but neither of them decided to go after him.
Tumblr media
“Ron! There you are, I’ve been looking everywhere for you,” Rayna smiled as she found him. Ron was walking a few steps ahead of her, and visibly hesitated before stopping. Her smile widened as he faced her, but she realized he wasn’t smiling. She wouldn’t say anything though, she knew he’d talk to her when he was ready.
“I wanted to make sure our colors matched well enough, or is your suit just going to be-” Ron cut her off before she could finish.
“Take it back,” he demanded. Rayna’s smile faltered for a moment before returning.
“What? Ron I’m being serious.” He only shook his head.
“So am I, take the dress back. I’m not going to the Yule Ball.” Rayna tried not to frown as she adjusted her bag on her shoulder.
“I don’t understand. You were so excited about it earlier.”
“I don’t care. I changed my mind, I’m not going.” Ron felt awful for being so rude about it, but he kept telling himself that it was for her benefit. He didn’t wait to answer before he turned and walked away much faster than he did earlier, leaving her standing in the mostly empty corridor.
Harry later found her crying by the lake. He was angry when Ron told her what he did, but when he saw her heartbroken face, he just felt terrible for her. She didn’t deserve that just because Ron was insecure about a suit. He sat down beside her silently, then rubbed her back when she rested her head on his shoulder.
“I don’t understand. What happened between when I left and when I found him after lunch?” She asked, sniffling.
“His suit came in,” Harry answered without thinking.
“What?” She asked, lifting her head to look at him. Harry’s eyes widened in realization. He hadn’t meant to tell her what happened, he intended for Ron to tell her. But he didn’t feel bad because he knew that Ron would never really tell her what happened. She stared at him with the same confused look until he gave in with a sigh.
“The mail came in after you left with Hermione and Anastasia. His mum sent him a suit for the ball, but when he opened it, it’s really outdated and old fashioned. My best guess is that it was Arthur’s suit from his school days. He didn’t want to embarrass you by having to be seen with him,” he explained. Rayna blinked at him.
“That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard,” she responded after a pregnant silence. Harry almost laughed but quickly stopped himself, settling for a small smile.
“I know. If I’m being honest, I think he’s more self conscious than worried for you,” he added gently. Rayna nodded, she believed it. Being friends with Harry Potter as well as having five older siblings takes its toll on Ron. He constantly lives in his brother’s shadows and he’s always a second thought when Harry was around.
“If I were to ask for a favor, would you help me?” She asked, confusing Harry.
“Uh, yeah sure. What is it?” He asked, intrigued. He could see the cogs turning in her head as an idea formed, which only interested him more.
“First, I need you to steal the suit from Ron without him noticing,” she started. He nodded, that should be easy since he saw him shove the box under his bed roughly.
“What next?” He asked.
“I need you to be a human mannequin. I’m going to alter the suit myself,” she finished. Harry was surprised, but not for long. She was also the more crafty one between them. He even heard that she altered Ginny’s dress for the ball herself.
“Great. When do we get started?”
“Now, if you’re not doing anything,” she answered smoothly as she stood, a determined look replacing her earlier somber features.
While she detested Molly for not even attempting to get the suit altered, she couldn’t blame her. She was well aware of the Weasleys’ financial status, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t do it herself. Molly had shown off her sewing and knitting skills plenty of times. But, Rayna wouldn’t say anything about it. She had a lot of work to do before the Yule Ball in a couple days, so she needed to get it done quick.
Tumblr media
That day and the next one was filled with Harry being a mannequin/model for Rayna while she altered the suit. It was good for both of them, while Rayna was getting something done it allowed Harry to relax between worrying about the next task he’d be doing. The day of the ball arrived and while Ron was out, she laid the practically new suit as well as a note on his bed then went to get ready.
Ron walked into his dorm with a sullen look. He was still thinking about his treatment of his girlfriend. Since the day before yesterday she hadn’t spoken to him once. As a matter of fact, he had barely seen her the past two days. He walked to his bed ready to just lay down and forget about the rest of the night when he noticed the suit. What was that doing out? Next, he noticed the note lying on the jacket, pinned to it with a green tipped pin. He took the note off the jacket, careful not to prick himself, and read it.
Meet me by the staircase in this. You’re welcome
Rayna ♡
That confused Ron even more. That is until he took a closer look at the suit. The ruffles under the tie had been removed as well as the ones at the end of his jacket sleeves. The jacket had been shortened to just around his hips and the red ruffles that ran at the top of his shoulders were gone. He couldn’t believe his eyes. Had Rayna seriously done all this for him?
A smile made its way onto his face as he quickly changed. Ashe did so, he also took notice of the fact that the fit on him was much better. It was no longer baggy around his arms or legs. He ran a comb through his hair and took a deep breath. He stared at himself in the mirror for a few minutes and had to admit he looked good. As his mother said when he looked nice, he shined like a new penny. Finally, he was once again excited about going to the Yule-
The Yule Ball. Rayna was probably still waiting for him by the staircase. He glanced at the clock. 8:45. Crap, he had to get going. With one more look at himself in the mirror, he practically ran out down to where the ball was being held. He could see Rayna conversing with Fred and Mallorie by the staircase and sighed in relief. He wasn’t too late.
Fred noticed his younger brother first. He tapped his girlfriend’s shoulder and nodded to the stairs. Mallorie gave Ron an encouraging smile before saying something to Rayna that he couldn’t quite hear. Just a second later, Rayna turned around. Ron’s breath was taken away at the sight of her, words couldn’t describe how beautiful she looked. He finally made it to the bottom of the stairs and Rayna met him there.
“Well, don’t you look dapper,” she commented teasingly, adjusting his tie as she did so. Ron didn’t answer, instead cupping her face and placing a sweet kiss on her lips. When they pulled away, Rayna was red and smiling shyly.
“I can’t believe you did this for me Ray. Thank you,” he whispered.
“Of course my love. I know how much it meant to you to not be seen in something like how it was,” she responded, taking his hand. “Oh, and just so you know, I wouldn’t have been embarrassed by what you wore. I did this for you, and only you.” Ron smiled brightly and kissed her cheek before holding out his elbow.
“Well, I think I’ve kept you waiting long enough. Ready to have the time of your life?” He asked jokingly. Rayna laughed, he didn’t need the suit to be dramatic.
“I am if you are,” she answered excitedly, linking her arm in his. Ron placed one more kiss on her cheek then led her into the ballroom with a new sense of pride in him.

burn those flowers|t.nott
part 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: Nott could be sweet, romantic and overall perfect boyfriend but at the end he make you to burn his promise that he's going to love you till the end.
parings: Theodore Nott x fem!reader
warnings: bad grammar, smoking, kinda angst
word counts: 2593
author's note: I'm back again just to disappear for another year but school and ib program has been lately too much and I barely got any sleep but I want you guys to have fun even tho if I'm not having fun at all.
Tumblr media
Theodore Nott was really sweet at the beginning and during it but then…How a person can change so quickly and without a reason but maybe there was a reason.
Somehow I knew that me and him would end up close to each other but I never expected that we would end up that close. Theodore Nott and I were at the same house so it was obvious that we’re going to spend some time together.
At first it was always because of Mattheo who was even a bigger drinker than me so I usually went with them to Hogsmeade or Forbidden Forest. Mattheo gets to know me with Draco, Blaise, Lorenzo and Theodore. It's not that I didn't stand out and was quiet. As early as the first week of school, me and Mattheo got detention together. I just didn't think me and them would become friends. They were unapproachable and especially Draco, who had unexplained feelings about Pansy.
But here we are at Black Lake for the weekly Slytherin party. This time it wasn't a big deal because it was just our group but muggle alcohol could walk on water. We were sitting by the fire when Pansy and Draco decided to leave us for the Forbidden Forest.
“Have a nice conversation,” Blaise said, amused by the situation, to which Draco gave him a look.
“Leave them alone," I said, "There are no worse of them than unexplained feelings about each other.”
I felt Mattheo put his arm around my waist and hugged me tightly.
“Unexplained feelings you say.” He commented.
“Leave me alone Riddle, you're drunk.” I answered him.
Out of the corner of my eye I watched Nott whose jaw clenched. It was between us that there were unexplained feelings. It's not that Mattheo was infatuated with me, we just liked to flirt with each other and later he told me about more girls whose hearts he broke. He was good looking but Nott had something about him. Something that no one else had. Nott was also unfortunately very nonchalant and secretive but gave blunt signals.
“Why do you have to break my heart every time and even later I don't get a goodnight kiss?" he asked.
Before I had time to answer him Lorenzo threw up.
“Well, now it's time for you to give someone else your attention.” I said standing up and patting him on the back.
“He is also your friend.” He answered me.
“Yes but you are a strong man and it was your and Blaise's idea to drink.” I replied sitting down next to Theo.
I rested my head on his shoulder and we watched the others take Lorenzo, who was unable to get up. They had a hard way to go and an even harder crossing of the dormitory ahead of them.
When they disappeared from sight and Mattheo's cursing was not heard I knew I could ask Theo about his day.
“How was your day?” I asked.
“Good except for the fact that the girl which I adore ignored me all day, avoided me as much as possible and at the end of the day flirted with my friend and let him grope her.” he responded.
“You should be less nervous," I said, then gave him a kiss on the cheek.
I saw him tense up even more so I snatched the cigarette from his hand and took a decent drag. It was because of them that me and Nott became close to each other when on the Astrology Tower he was thinking that he’s not going to say sober and I couldn't sleep. Our first kiss was also thanks to cigarettes when I asked him for one and he did a shotgunning cigarette and then kissed me in the same place where we were now, exactly 7 months ago.
“Could you give it back already," he asked even though I knew he could pull out another one.
I looked at him and then sat on his lap and inhaled. I put my lips to his mouth and slowly blew cigarette smoke into his mouth. After a few seconds his hands were on my waist and our kiss seemed even more intimate. When we pulled away from each other, he pulled me closer and held me even tighter.
“Y/N will you be my girlfriend?” he asked.
“Theo, you know the answer.” I responded.
“After today I’m not sure,” he stated.
“Yes, I will be your girlfriend.” I said then I placed a gentle kiss on his lips.
Kissing with Nott has it that it never ends in one and is never just kissing. Before I knew it I was lying on the ground and he was above me playing with the hem of my skirt. I knew it wasn't the best idea but the alcohol I drank earlier gave me some courage. I didn't know if it was the alcohol that warmed me up or Theodore himself. The next thing I felt was his lips sucking on my neck and his hand going higher and higher on my thigh. When he unbuttoned my first button we heard the breaking of dry branches.
“Sorry, we didn't want to interrupt you," said Draco.
“Are you officially together now?” asked Nott.
“ I don’t know, are we.” said Draco then grabbed Pansy's hand tighter and walked away.
I think if it wasn't for those two me and Theo would have ended up the same way. Draco had his shirt unbuttoned and Pansy better not comment on that out of respect for our friendship.
“We'd better get back," I said, then quickly reached for a cigarette.
“Do we really have to?” my boyfriend asked me.
In response, I got up slightly to my feet and buttoned my button. Theo sighed then reached into his backpack.
“I have something for you, I know we haven't been together long but I'm sure I've been in love with you for a long time,” he said, pulling artificial flowers out of his backpack, “ Y/N I'm giving you these flowers because they will wilt only when I stop loving you.”
I felt my eyes glazing over so I just kissed him and took his hand.
“This is the best gift I ever got," I said as he pulled me closer to him.
Deftly snatched a cigarette from me after which he lit it. We walked like that through the night and it was perfect. Our beginnings were perfect too. I stopped being his secret and became his priority.
The next day I was talking to Pansy about what had happened between her and Draco in the common room, when I felt someone cover my eyes and place a light kiss on my shoulder.
“Guess who it is," he said.
I grabbed his hands tightly and turned around then placed a light kiss on his lips. I felt Pansy's gaze on me, which penetrated my soul and drilled a hole in me.
“After training I'm taking you on a date," he said, then disappeared as quickly as he appeared.
“So…” shouted Pansy.
I grabbed her hand then directed us to our room. We spent this time very productively and it was not without slurs under my name, because how could I not tell her. As Pansy was getting excited about the idea of double dates, someone knocked on the door. Standing in them was not only Nott with flowers but also Draco.
“We leave you alone," I said, "Don't forget to put some spells on the door.”
I left with Theo and this was accompanied by a quiet thumping sound when Pansy threw her shoe at the door.
When I entered the room it was well after midnight and I found Draco and Pansy there in one bed. I knew they were pretending to sleep. As I walked away, I just threw a quiet slur and left the room.
As I walked in silence to the men's section, I quietly knocked. The shirtless Theodore opened it for me.
“You already missed me," he asked piteously.
“I preferred not to hear two people having sex a few meters away from me," I replied and then went into the room.
“Thank you for inviting me in and letting me sleep," said Nott ironically.
“I can always go to Matteo's to sleep," I replied and then went to the closet to put on something more comfortable to sleep in.
I felt that the atmosphere in the room thickened but I tried to ignore his gaze. When I went to bed, Nott was still standing in the same place. I knew he wouldn't go in if I didn't give him some attentiveness. I got up and walked over to him. I put my arms around his neck and started kissing him. However, he still stood unmoved.
“Even in a million years, me and him will never be together," I said and then pulled him toward the bed.
I knew it would work so a moment later my head was leaning against his bare chest. With my finger I was drawing stamps on his shoulder. It was quiet but peaceful. I knew he didn't like to talk much so I was filling in the silence for him. However, today the silence was different. It was a peace that he obtained because deep down he was afraid that I would actually end up with Mattheo.
I don't even know when Snape's lessons turned into a lesson of sending me notes instead of me and Mattheo getting detention. Theodore always made sure I didn't drink too much because I had no moderation. He always made me feel better. Weekly dates turned into twice a week dates, often double dates. He always moved me from the couch to my room. When I got too drunk with Pansy I would fall asleep there. I always went to his games and made sure he went to his lessons. I often found flowers or small gifts from him. We rarely argued and it was perfect. He was not selfish in bed. It was really wonderful.
The warm summer day was giving out. The Snape chamber in the basement seemed like a dreamy nightmare when the Slytherin got extra classes. I sat bored fighting my sleep and ignoring the taunts of Mattheo, who had recently become insistent. He couldn't understand that now I couldn't spend as much time alone with him. When being awake was almost impossible, I got a note.
We’re sneaking out. NOW!!!
Before I had time to react, I was pushed out the back door.
“We are going to be fucked” I said.
“Tought,”replied Nott pulling me behind him.
We didn't have to wait long for the consequences of this escape. All seven of us were called back the same day. Snape swapped us in pairs for a project we were to hand in by the end of the semester. I felt that me and Mattheo would get the worst pair, and I wasn't wrong. Mattheo got Ron Weasley, and I got Cedric. Fucking Cedric, with whom I used to have something in common. It wasn't the other but it was awkward afterwards.
I didn't even have to look at my boyfriend to know what he looked like. After the reprimand, we left the room. The mood was no longer the same as before.
“Anyone fancy a drink," Pansy asked. However, she didn't need to know the answer, because everyone knew where they were going.
While the party was going on at its best, I went to get another drink. When I returned, Theo was smoking a cigarette again. I sat down next to him on the ground, and he put his arm around me. I could feel him tense up so I quickly took a drink. It warmed me up from the inside and I guess that's what I needed.
“Teddy, I can always do this project myself," I said.
In response, I felt him squeeze me tighter. When he smoked a cigarette, he picked me up and began to lead me into the woods. When we finished, the party had long since ended.
“Are you sure everything is fine?” I asked.
Yes, I'm just afraid that what used to be between you two will come back. It's not that I don't trust you, I just." Before he finished talking I just hugged him.
For the first two weeks everything was the same, the only thing that changed was his need to be near me and my touch. However, later we stopped going on dates and he stopped talking. Later he spoke less but needed more and more touch. Later he just kept his hand on my thigh and rejected every other form of closeness. One day he didn't come at all. Since that day I haven't seen him and when I did it was always drunk. He avoided me and everyone else however he remained faithful to me. I tried my best to reach out to him until I gave up because I knew he would be at the party at the end of every project we had.
As I slipped through the empty castle, I didn't know if I could hear my beating heart more or the feeling walking behind me. Walking like this however, I hoped he would be there. When I got there, I didn't see him so I went to Mattheo, who was making drinks as usual. After a few drinks, I fired up a cigarette and took Mattheo aside.
“Do you think he has another?” I asked and inhaled my cigarette.
“No, believe me he was in love with you before he got to know you.” he answered me.
“Do you think he stopped loving me?” I asked.
“No, I already told you that he loves you more than anyone.” he answered me.
“Do you know what happened to him?” I asked again.
“If I knew, everything would have been fine long ago?” he answered me.
Before I had time to ask another question, we heard screams. We quickly bolted from our seats. The only thing I saw was the moment when Draco with Blais pulled Theodore away from Cedric. I quickly approached them but when he saw me he started to pull away and go to the front.
No one was paying attention to Nott, but to Cedric. I started to run towards him, however he did not give up. When we had gone far away I knew that this was the only opportunity to talk to him
“Theodre Nott what the fuck is your problem!”I shouted, but he ignored me.
So I ran up and pulled him by the hand so that he stopped. He stopped and turned towards me. For the first time I saw his eyes, so black and full of pain. Although maybe it was hatred.I’m not sure.
“Burn these flowers,” he said quite quietly.
“Talk to me," I said, although my heart had already managed to shatter into tiny pieces.
“Burn these fucking flowers,” he said, then snatched his hand and just start walking without even looking at me.
I stood like that, in the dark night, and a light wind blew on my back. I could do nothing but cry, and while I was crying like that, Mattheo found me. He hugged me tightly and sat with me all night while I alternated between crying and drinking.
Deep down I prayed that these flowers would burn on their own, because I couldn't do it.

Don’t Mess with the Badger
Tumblr media
“Oh bloody hell…”.
Hermione looked up and saw Aurora walk to her table with a split lip and a bruise on her cheek. Harry then looked up at her before saying, “It looks like she got into a fight. Does Theodore know?” Ron looked over at the Slytherin table and saw him talking to his all of his friends. Hermione hummed and then looked over to see a Slytherin girl walk in, who looked a lot worse. “Bloody hell! Did Aurora beat her up? She looks bad”.
Pansy looked at the Slytherin girl before saying, “Oh dear, what the hell happened to you?!” “That fucking Hufflepuff, that’s what!” Then Crabbe and Goyle sat with the boys, looking a lot worse. Mattheo smirked at the two before saying, “Wow! Now, I want to know who did this and why, because this is so funny!” Ron then walked up and said, “Oi, Theo. You may want to check up on Aurora— woah! Bloody hell! Wait! What did you three do to piss her off that much?!” Mattheo stood up and looked at the Hufflepuff Table. “… Shit”.
Theodore’s eyes widened and then went dark when he saw the bruise on her face. Hermione, Harry and Luna also joined them. “Well?! Someone want to talk about what happened?!”, Hermione asked angrily.
“Well…”.
Aurora was walking to the Great Hall, when she had heard three Slytherin’s talking amongst themselves. A girl she didn’t know, along with Crabbe and Goyle.
“You know, Theodore’s no better than her! He’s now a Blood Traitor for dating a Mudblood!”, she stated. Crabbe said, “I wouldn’t go that far. It’s not like he’s a Weasley”. “No! But here’s the icing the cake, now Draco has a crush on Granger! Honestly! Shelby and her, are both filthy Mudbloods, and we shouldn’t be associating ourselves with them!”, she shouted, just as Aurora walked up to them. “Oh… fucking shit…!!!”
“What to say that again, you bitch?”, Aurora asked as her eyes darkened with rage. “Woah! I bet… you think you’re hot shit now! First, you date Theodore! Then you befriend all of Draco’s gang— I mean, are you trying to make us look bad, Hufflepuff?! You’re a fucking Mudblood! You know it would never work, you slut! You’re the reason Theo got disowned after all”. Then the blonde approached her and glared at her, with an angry look on her face. “Say that again. Call my boyfriend a Blood Traitor again… and you’ll see what happens when you piss off a Hufflepuff…”.
“Then I threw the first punch and she beat us up”.
Pansy looked shocked and she asked, “Aurora?! Are… you sure?! She wouldn’t hurt a fly!” “Oh really?!!! Just look at my fucking face!!!”, the girl shouted. Theodore then glared at her and said, “Just fuck off. All three of you. I never wanna see your faces again”. Silence just surrounded the table and Draco looked up at them all as he said, “We don’t say those words anymore. All of us are past that”. “Clearly, since you love Granger so much!!!”, the girl shouted just before leaving the table with Crabbe and Goyle. “Still though… she’s badass!”
Everyone looked at Mattheo. “Too soon…?”
Theodore stood up and walked over to Aurora before sitting next to her. “Teddy…?” He kissed her bruised cheek before asking, “Are you okay, cara mia? Y-You didn’t have to defend me like that…”. Then she rested her head on his shoulder and hugged his arm before saying, “I’m sorry. I just saw red”. “Don’t apologise. I love you”. She smiled up at him and said, “I love you too, Teddy~”. He leaned down before kissing her very gently. After they broke away, he grabbed her hand as he whispered, “I need to kiss you in private amore, right now”. She giggled and ran away from him. “Oi!”
“Get your cute arse back here!”

Through Love And By Love (Pt. 1)
Draco Malfoy x Fem!OC
Summary: Twenty-Two years ago, Draco Malfoy used the imperius curse to slow Voldemort’s rise to power. No good deed goes unpunished.
Warning: this series contains mature subject matter surrounding the use of the imperius curse, reader discretion advised.
Tumblr media
“If you ask me, the most mishandled aspect of the wizarding war, will always be Rosanna McVay’s tragic entanglement to the Malfoy family.” The reporter’s voice booms over the radio.
“Oi, give it a rest.” Their cohost retorts.
“That girl was bred like cattle, she lost her entire life to that family. She fell in love with a monster and Draco Malfoy fell in love with the prettiest thing he’d ever seen. He enjoys her the way a child does a toy.”
“And that is where we disagree. Draco Malfoy sold his soul to the devil, to save Rosanna McVay; and it’s people like you that’ve forced the reopening of this case, after over twenty years!”
“Pish, posh, the trial was rushed and we all know it. The imperius charm is listed as an unforgivable curse for a reason. The minister for magic, at present, recognizes that in a way that Kingsley Shacklebolt failed to.”
“Hermione Granger-Weasley would not open this can of worms of her own accord, but given the recent outcry, her hands are tied.”
Hermione. Rosanna’s best friend since childhood.
“Scorpius.” Another voice calls, not from the radio. This time addressing him directly.
“Mum, I was just-” the boy begins to defend himself.
Rosanna smiles, kindly. “Finish getting ready for the train, it’s almost time to go.”
“Why are we leaving so early?” The train back to school doesn’t leave for hours.
“We’re driving down this year.”
“Driving?” They’ve always taken the floo.
“Photographers from the paper expect us to come through the floo network. This way will be better, less hectic.” Rosanna explains. “Plus, we have a chance for car karaoke.”
“Right,” Scorpius chokes out. Car karaoke…as if she and his father haven’t been running mad, meeting with lawyers, to clear Draco’s name from crimes committed, against her, more than two decades ago.
Rosanna leaves him to it. Scorpius is number five of their six children. The rest daughters, ranging in age from two to twenty-one.
Their eldest, Leo, followed in her mother’s footsteps, as a proud Gryffindor. Joining the Holyhead Harpies after finishing school.
The second born, Arlo, a Ravenclaw; graduated with honors.
Followed closely by the twins, Vega, Gryffindor and Polaris, Slytherin.
Scorpius joined her, in their father’s former house.
And little Corina is far too young to be sorted.
Draco is still in the kitchen, when Rosanna returns. Corina in her high chair, demanding more scrambled eggs, faster than her father can serve her. Pouting unhappily as she waits.
Rosanna passes a hand over her strawberry blonde baby curls, the same shade as her own hair. Making her way over to her husband, leaning against the counter beside the stove.
“What is it, love?” Draco murmurs, feeling the heaviness in the air around her.
“Scorpius…he was listening to the radio. A talk show.”
“Mmm.” Draco hums, in acknowledgment. “They’ll be on about it in the common rooms as well, I suppose. At least he has Albus, Polaris. Vega will have Arlene and Rose, if she needs someone in her house to-”
Rosanna nods, coming to wrap both arms around his waist and resting her head against the expanse between his shoulder blades.
It’s never been this bad. No one following them to snap a photo or beating at the manor doors demanding answers.
In many ways, their story demands attention for it’s riveting and…controversial nature. Perhaps because there are only two people in the world who know what happened in its entirety.
————————————————————————
Rosanna McVay transfers, from Ilvermorny school of witchcraft and wizardry, to Hogwarts at the beginning of her third year. Entirely against her wishes and as a result of her parents, Archer and Dixie, transferring to higher positions within the Ministry of Magic.
"This will be a good change, baby, you'll see." Her mother promises.
At Ilvermorny, students are placed into houses based on the four carvings of the great hall and which reacts to the student in question. The houses represent one part of an entire wizard. Rosanna herself being a proud Pukwudgie, the heart.
Leaving her life, namely her friends and grandmother, who she's always shared a special bond with, to move part way across the world; is the hardest thing Rosanna has ever done. Then again change is never easy.
Once at Hogwarts, she's placed into Gryffindor, the moment the sorting hat touches her strawberry blonde locks.
Rosanna makes new friends among her house mates. Most famously with Ron, Hermione, and Harry; all in her year.
When Rosanna is forced to partner with Draco Malfoy on a class assignment, things go down hill quickly from there.
Fate is tricky that way. Tricky and cruel.
Draco is different. He’s rough around the edges and sharp enough to cut deep where he wants to.
He doesn’t have time for her, the half blood transfer student with whom he’s forced to share half of his grade.
He picks her apart, wondering just how many times he’ll send her off, lip quivering, before the nutter of a professor will stop pairing them together.
But the two of them receive top marks once, twice, three times, four. Rosanna is a good partner, though Draco will never admit it. She works hard and with practice, learns to ignore his jabs.
Until the day she doesn’t. Slapping the quill from his hand, leaving blotches of dark ink on the parchment.
“You’re an asshole.” Rosanna snaps, “I’m getting a new partner.”
“Go right ahead.” Draco waves her away. There’s nothing she can say to the professor that he hasn’t already tried.
A few moments later she returns to the desk, fuming.
“Not getting a new partner after all, McVay?” Draco welcomes her back, with a smug grin.
“Maybe if we start flunking this class he’ll reconsider.”
“You should never cut off your nose to spite your face.” Draco reminds her, “or do they not teach that in America?”
—————————————————————
It becomes a bit of a sport really, getting under her skin. And oh how he does, like a school boy, tugging at his sweetheart’s hair on the playground.
"Do you like butter beer?" Malfoy asks as they're packing up their books for next period.
“Not after you’ve poisoned it.” Rosanna rolls her eyes.
Those big, brown, eyes that send Draco’s insides to a frenzy. If he could… Just once… just to get her out of his system-
"Hogsmeade has the best, straight from the tap." Draco holds her gaze. “Seeing as we’re clearly going to be working together through the end of this year, what harm could one butter beer do?”
His proximity makes her nervous, he can feel it.
Just one time, Rosanna reasons. Just to get him out of her system. “Fine.”
—————————————————————
They kiss, for the first time, behind the little Hogsmeade pub. Realizing too late that they won’t be able to stop.
Kissing Rosanna is brilliant, sweet, like nectar from a forbidden fruit. All swollen lips and flushed cheeks as she pulls away, panting.
“This is a mistake,” she breathes.
“Clearly,” Draco agrees.
But for whatever reason they lean in again.
—————————————————————
This new…tolerance of one another is shocking to their classmates and friends.
“Not to worry about her filthy blood, Draco.” Theodore Nott calls, from his spot lunging on the settee of the Slytherin common room. “I’m sure you can clean it right out of her.”
The room erupts into laughter; hushed whispers follow.
She is one hell of a half blood.
———————————————————-
The Yule Ball presents a unique opportunity for Draco to disappoint his father. He’s going to ask Rosanna, because the thought of Potter’s hands on her waist makes him want to come out of his skin.
Nothing serious though, of course. Lots of purebloods have been known to fool around with those of lesser status before settling down. This was just that.
At least that’s what Draco tells himself as he hand picks a dress for his date. Slipping it into a over sized box and slamming it down on the Gryffindor table, in the great hall, during breakfast.
“Draco?” Rosanna spits up a bit of her pumpkin juice.
“It’s for you to wear to the ball,” he explains. “With me.”
Rosanna shakes her head with a smirk. “Asshole.”
—————————————————————
The night of the Yule Ball they dance until sun up, their feet ache and exhaustion paints their features.
“Thank you for tonight.” Rosanna whispers against his shoulder. She knows this isn’t forever.
“Thank you.” This night, and every night after belongs to her.
—————————————————————
The formation of Dumbledore's Army and the addition of Dolores Umbridge to Hogwarts; creates a unique divide between Draco and Rosanna. Draco takes his place on the inquisitorial squad and Rosanna trains with Harry and their friends, in the room of requirement.
The night they are caught and forced to write lines with Dolores’ special quills, Draco nearly Avadas the old witch.
"Let's see your hand,” Draco snaps. Coming to collect Rosanna the moment they are dismissed.
"It's fine." Rosanna shakes her head at him. "Doesn't hurt."
“You’re lying, let me see.” He insists, consumed by the urge to kiss her wounds; letter for letter.
That’s probably why Lucius finally demands to meet her.
————————————————————
Winter break comes, Rosanna spends the night after Christmas at Malfoy manor. This life simply isn’t for her.
Perhaps that’s why Draco’s parents have allowed her there. To finally scare her away, once and for all.
Though she must admit, if only to herself, that Draco doesn’t really belong here either.
The boy in question creeps into the guest room, where Rosanna is planning her escape. Maybe she’ll tell them she has food poisoning and needs to return home early.
“What are you doing?” Rosanna’s brows furrow at the intrusion.
"Come on." Draco whispers, "there’s something I need to show you." He takes Rosanna's hand, leading her down a number of staircases to the lowest level. It's pitch black save for the light coming from the tip of Draco's wand.
"Are you ready to tell me what the hell it is?" She huffs.
"What do you know about prophecies?" Draco asks.
"Not a lot, but I'm sure you're gonna educate me." Rosanna leans in with renewed interest.
"They're derived from seers, a form of divination. Some are rubbish, the ministry doesn't bother with those. Others are kept in the hall of prophecies." Draco pauses, making sure he hasn't overloaded her with information.
"Following." Rosanna nods, listening intently.
"Only a person about whom a prophecy is made has the ability to remove it from the hall. Same as the prophecy will only speak for those it pertains to. My father keeps it down here." The fair haired boy explains.
"Your dad has a prophecy?" Rosanna asks, tightening the ponytail atop her head.
"No, I do. He brought me down to the ministry last week." Draco moves toward the locked box, on the center shelf of the stained oak bookcase, against the back wall. Producing a crystal ball with white glowing dust inside.
"They call across land and sea." A voice fills the room, the second it touches his hand.
Rosanna cringes when Draco places it into her palm.
"Just listen." He hushes her. Watching in wonder as it continues to speak.
"Born from the dark, through she, redeemed. Born from the dirt, through he, blossoms. Through love and by love, castles will crumble. A lion heart, tried and true; chooses a side the other must lose." The disembodied voice finishes.
"What does it mean?" Rosanna all but tosses the crystal back into its box.
"I was hoping you'd help me riddle that out." Malfoy purses his lips.
The girl wraps both arms around herself, tightly.
"I haven't told my father what it says. I wanted you to hear it first." Draco tells her.
"Do you really think it’s about us?" Rosanna doesn't understand, not really. But she can feel, in her bones, that no good will come from this.
"It spoke for you, same as it did for me. We need to sort out what it means before it's too late." Draco says. "We'll go back to your room and get started."

What if a Slytherin was picked as Hogwarts champion instead of Cedric Diggory?
Tumblr media
Here is the original Pinterest post I got the idea from: https://pin.it/46UnRD6
Here is my masterlist with my other content: here
———
Harry Potter had never met nor heard of Barnaby Thorn before he was chosen as the original hogwarts champion. He was a fifth yeah, the same as Cedric. Yet all seemed to groan when a Slytherin was chosen to represent hogwarts.
The Slytherins all cheered though when one of their own was called. Snape even let a smirk befall on his face before letting it go back to its neutral expression.
———
When the first task was going on Harry had decided to let Barnaby know about the dragons. When he approached him the Slytherins all looked at him distastefully. Yet Barnaby only looked curious. “Hey um, Barnaby can I speak to you? In private…” Harry was surprised he had agreed as quickly as he did. After he told him about the dragons Barnaby looked almost genuinely frightened. “Are, are you sure?”
“Yes I am. I’ve seen them and I know that Fleur has been told. Meaning there’s also a high chance Krum knows too. I didn’t want to leave you to be the only one…”
Barnaby shocked Harry by smiling at him thankfully before placing his hand on Harry’s shoulder. “Well thanks Potter. For not being prejudiced and stuff. Also I’m sorry for the badges. I tried to get my mates to stop wearing g them. I’ll make it up for you when I can though yeah?” He soon left after that in the direction of the library while his friends followed quickly behind to ask why Harry was talking to him.
———
In the second task, Barnaby realised quite quickly what the meaning of the egg was and quickly returned the favour to Harry. He told Harry what exactly he needed to do with the egg with a small note.
Potter, open it underwater. Told you I’d make it up for you when I could yeah?
When Harry looked up he already found Barnaby looking at him expectedly nodding silently before returning to a conversation.
Barnabys person in the lake was one of his best friends Juno James. He had used a bubble head charm and offered to go back into the water to help Harry but his other friends wouldn’t allow him nor would the teachers. Though when Ron and Fleurs sister came out of the water Barnaby was their to pull them out and give them his blanket. That was the act that earned Hermiones respect and gratitude, as well as a little bit of Rons.
———
When the Yule ball was happening, lots of girls asked Barnaby to be their date, yet he rejected them all. There was only one girl he wanted to ask to the ball. His long time crush. Helaena Jones. A fifth year Ravenclaw who just so happened to be a muggleborn. Still, Barnaby didn’t really care much about his reputation. He asked her with some lily of the valleys one afternoon and she said yes. He even based his suit of her dress (it was navy blue). They danced all night and even talked a little with the other champions. Though by the end of the night, Barnaby was sitting with Helaena their feet aching like anything. Barnaby took his chance though as he tucked her loose hair behind her ear and kissed her. It was easily Barnabys favourite nights of his life. He could not stop smiling as the girl he fancied for ages kissed him back.
———
During the third task Barnaby practised as many spells as he could with both his mates and his new girlfriend Helaena, who’d agreed to go out with him a little after the ball.
He even managed to conjur a patronus by thinking of when he kissed Helaena and got the opportunity to tell her how he felt. His patronus is penguin. Barnaby got really confused why Helaena was laughing about it so much.
When Barnaby was going through the maze he didn’t want it to be a tie, but he didn’t want to leave Harry behind and just so happened to touch the cup at the same time anyways.
———
In the cemetery, Barnaby is prepared with his wand at the ready and back to back to Harry. He thinks it is just another part of the maze designed to test their reaction on their feet. Voldemort kills Barnaby Thorn with zero remorse as no matter what blood-status they are, no matter what house he was, all that mattered was that he was the spare and wasn’t supposed to be there.
Harry brings back Barnabys body in tears and Helaena is the one who screams at her lovers corpse. She is the one who runs to him with zero hesitation and cries for him as she hold onto her lover for dear life. The slytherins are silent as they mourn for one of their own. They realise even if they are pure-blood slytherins, they are not safe in this war.
———
In Harry’s fifth year he takes notice how the Slytherins are acting more defiant that year. More and more Slytherins are wanting to join Dumblsdores Army and even Goyle, a once loyal son of a death eater, is bringing Harry to the side after a lesson asking how he can help. Even offering to be a mole in Umbridges inquisitorial squad.
Umbridge loses all notiriarity within the slytherins when she says Barnabys death was an accident. They all gain respect for Harry when he sticks up for Barnaby saying how he was murdered. They all liked him as even if he wasn’t a traditional slytherin he helped make people believe not all slytherins were bad.
———
Barnabys death was the first official casualty in the war and the Slytherins do well to not let others forget it. When the war is happening, many slytherins are helping muggleborns by forging them into their family trees. Juno James, who in their first year stated firmly that they hated ‘mudbloods’, is claiming Helaena Jones to be their second cousin.
Slytherins are teaching first years on how to pretend to be under the cruciatus curse so no one needs to torture eleven year olds. They teach other students how to make the wrong gesture subtly enough so the carrows don’t notice the wrong movements. They lie to the carrows with silver tongues and hearts made of solid steel.
When the war came to hogwarts McGonnigal ordered Filch to send the slythsrins to the dungeons, yet the other houses all protested. Staring with Helaena Jones and the first years who owe their lives to the slytherins.
The younger Slytherins were taken to the evacuation tunnel. Though many stay to defend the castle with their friends. Slytherin or not.
Many slytherin children fought their parents in the battle. Juno James was forced to battle his mother who disowned him on the battlefield. Helaena Jones though went against Barnabys Father. She cried as the saw the resemblance of him and his son and knocked him out. When Voldemort stood opposite them encouraging for the slytherins to come forward as he shall show mercy to his fellow Slytherins, they all stay with their fellow pupils. As where was this supposed sympathy for Barnaby Thorn? Who was a slytherin and a pure blood.
The slytherins may have been the most untrustworthy house in Harry’s third year. Yet by the war they all faught tooth and nail because Hogwarts was their home too.

Through the Years- Ron Weasley x OC
Ron Weasley x Rayna Longbottom
Description: Goes through every year after Ron and Rayna meet to show the progression in their relationship.
Word Count: 5.2k
Tumblr media
1992-1993
“You seem oddly excited Neville,” Hermione observed, watching the boy look over the first year’s heads eagerly. The boy nodded then glanced at the girl.
“My sister should be sorted any minute now.” That caught the other’s attention and they faced the boy.
“I didn’t know you had a sister,” Harry commented. Neville shrugged casually.
“She never came up,” he spoke as Valerie London was sorted into Slytherin. “Oh, there she is!” He exclaimed, pointing to the girl up next. Ron couldn’t see her very well until Professor McGonagall called her name.
“Rayna Longbottom,” she called, reading off the parchment. A small girl walked up to the stool and nervously took a seat. If Ron was being honest, he couldn’t say she was much to look at. She was pretty and she looked nice, but she just seemed...average was the best word he could think of. Nevertheless, he watched the hat mumble several things after being placed on her head.
“GRYFFINDOR!” It yelled out, nearly scaring the girl out of her seat. She caught herself with McGonagall’s help and walked towards the table as it erupted in cheers. She spotted her brother quickly and ran over to him, hugging him tightly.
“I thought it was going to place me in Hufflepuff,” she breathed out, sounding relieved. The others laughed as they took a seat once more and Neville introduced her to everyone. Ron waved at her with a polite smile when his name was mentioned and she returned the gesture, no longing seeming nervous. He decided that that would make her more bearable.
Rayna ended up becoming close with the Golden Trio- well, at least closer than Neville is with them. Harry was relieved that she didn’t care about his status as “The Boy Who Lived,” Hermione was the closest with her because Rayna actually listened to what she said and responded with wit. Ron had been neither here nor there until she defended Harry against Malfoy and his goons, which earned her a shove to the ground from Pansy Parkinson. He was a lot more lenient with her after that.
Just in time too, because not long after that incident Harry and Ron were taken to the hospital ward where they discovered that both Hermione and Rayna had been petrified by whatever was in the Chamber of Secrets. Ron had no idea what overcame him, but now he was determined to figure out what was doing this, scary or not.
After facing giant spiders, a cave in while inside the Chamber of Secrets, and Professor Lockhart obliviating himself, Harry defeated the Basilisk in the Chamber and saved Ginny Weasley. During the End-of-Term Feast the two boys were talking and eating when they heard a few people around them become quiet. That caused them to turn around and see what was going on. To their surprised delight, they saw Hermione and Rayna standing in the entrance of the Great Hall! In an instant they plus Neville stood as the girls ran towards them. Hermione hugged Ron first while Rayna hugged Harry, thanking him for solving the mystery. Then, Hermione switched to Harry and Rayna took her place hugging Ron.
“Thanks for saving me- uh... I-I mean us,” she retried quickly, a scarlet blush coating her cheeks. Ron also blushed and shrugged it off. Rayna took the chance to hug Neville before they all took a seat once more to continue the feast.
Tumblr media
1993- Summer
Ron thought he wouldn’t see Rayna again until the school year started, but that was proven wrong only two weeks later. Molly informed everyone in the house that Rayna would be having a sleepover with Ginny. It was funny, Ron hadn’t even realized that his sister and Rayna had become friends, but apparently they’d been sending letters to each other since the school year ended. They didn’t see each other much because Ginny insisted that they stayed in her room most of the time so the guys (especially the twins) wouldn’t bother them, but they talked for a bit during dinner then breakfast the next morning before Molly had to take her home.
Tumblr media
1993-1994
The next time he really got to speak to her between and/or after class is after the Halloween Feast. Everyone had been coming back when they found the Fat Lady’s portrait viciously slashed to the point that strips of canvas had fallen to the floor. The woman herself was nowhere to be seen. As they stared in shock, the trio heard Dumbledore talking to Peeves.
“Ashamed, your Headship, sir,” the ghost spoke. “Doesn’t want to be seen. She’s a horrible mess. Saw her running through the landscape up on the fourth floor, sir, dodging between the trees. Crying something dreadful. Poor thing.”
“Did she say who did it?” The headmaster asked curiously. The spectre nodded.
"Oh yes, Professorhead. He got very angry when she wouldn’t let him in, you see. Nasty temper he’s got, that Sirius Black." All those who had been listening gasped at the name. However, before anyone could say anything else, McGonagall came rushing back clutching what looked to be a girl.
“Professor Dumbledore,” she fretted, catching the man’s attention (along with everyone else’s). “We have a witness.”
“Oh?” Dumbledore questioned, stepping closer to them. The professor’s arms hesitantly unwrapped from the girl she had been hugging, and she carefully turned her to face the headmaster. Ron heard himself gasp when he realized it was Rayna, clutching her arm and tears streaming down her face like rain on a window. Others gasped when they saw blood on her occupied hand.
“Miss Longbottom, can you tell us what happened?” Dumbledore asked gently, leaning down a bit so he was eye level with her. The girl hesitated then looked at Professor McGonagall nervously.
“Go ahead dear,” she instructed comfortingly, resting a hand on her shoulder. Rayna nodded slowly then looked at the man in front of her.
“I-I was heading back from th-the feast. I figured I could b-beat everyone…I figured I could beat everyone back s-so the common room would-wouldn’t be crowded. B-But then when I got to the portrait I saw...a man yelling at the Fat L-Lady. Then he,” she began crying harder, which prompted McGonagall to pull her closer to her. “H-He slashed her portrait frust...frus-frus,” she stuttered between sobs.
“Frustratedly,” the woman finished for her patiently. Rayna nodded and sniffled.
“And t-then he saw me and as-asked me what the p-password was, but I froze! I d-didn’t want to tell him, so he got angry. He c...cut my arm then ran away!” She finally finished, gripping Professor McGonagall’s hand with her free hand. The woman in turn hugged her, letting her cry into her arm. Ron watched the girl sympathetically, then got the sudden urge to hug her. So that’s what he did. Without thinking he walked over to the girl once McGonagall let go and embraced her. She, surprisingly, melted into his touch (though he eventually shrugged it off as her being distraught) shortly before Dumbledore instructed the professor to take her to Madame Pomfrey to get her arm checked out. Ron was tempted to go with them, but was stopped by Dumbledore instructing all the Gryffindors to head to the Great Hall.
Ron laid awake that night, waiting anxiously for Rayna’s return to the Great Hall where all students were sleeping. After what felt like hours, Rayna was finally led in with her pajamas now on and a beige bandage wrapped around her injured arm. She laid in a sleeping bag (thankfully) next to Ron, and once McGonagall walked away he turned over to face her.
“Are you okay?” He whispered. For a minute Ron thought that she had already fallen asleep, until he finally heard her answer.
“Physically, yes,” she whispered back. “It really scared me.” Ron smiled sympathetically, though he couldn’t be sure that she saw it in the darkness. They spent the rest of the night whispering to each other when the professors’ backs were turned until they finally fell asleep, Rayna first. Both of them felt like they’d gotten close after that night.
Tumblr media
1994- Summer
Rayna had been invited to attend the Quidditch World Cup by Ginny, who now had a free ticket since Charlie was sick. She of course accepted, promising Neville that she’d bring him back a souvenir, and off she went with the Weasley clan, Harry and Hermione. Everything seemed to be going so well. Ron was complaining about how Bulgaria lost then switched the topic to Viktor Krum, much to everyone else’s amusement.
“He’s not just an athlete!” Ron exclaimed. “He’s an artist.” Ginny laughed as she and Rayna walked over to him.
“I think you’re in love, Ron,” she teased, Rayna still giggling behind her. Ron didn’t have the chance to reply before Fred walked out from behind him.
“Viktor I love you,” he sang before George repeated his twin’s actions.
“Viktor I do!”
“When we’re apart, my heart beats only for you!” The rest joined in with the singing before falling out laughing while Ron rolled his eyes. They began to dance, and Rayna took Ron’s hand in an attempt to get him to join in. The screams from outside suddenly increased, which made a few stop and look at the tent entrance.
“Sounds like the Irish have got their pride on,” Fred said humorously, easing Rayna’s nerves a bit. That was all for naught after Arthur entered once more, a serious look on his face.
“We have to leave now,” he instructed, effectively stopping the merriment. “It’s not the Irish,” he told Fred before beginning to grab their bags.
“What is it then?” She questioned, following everyone out after grabbing her backpack. Everyone stopped once outside the tent to process what was happening. Rayna looked around in horror, faintly hearing Arthur tell the twins that Ginny was their responsibility.
“Rayna,” he called, which made her look at him. “Stay with Ron, Hermione and Harry. Everyone get back to the Portkey, I’ll meet you there.” He waited for no response before grabbing his wand and running off. She gasped when something suddenly gripped her hand tightly and she whipped around.
“It’s okay,” Ron mumbled urgently. “It’s just me. Come on, we have to go!” He waited until she nodded to show she understood before leading her, Hermione and Harry off. At some point Harry had gotten separated from them, which made Rayna want to backtrack and find him, but they were carried off by the fleeing crowd. No matter what though, Ron kept an iron grip on her hand and refused to let go until they made it to the Portkey.
Eventually they made it home, and everyone went to bed almost immediately, but Rayna found that she couldn’t sleep. So, she headed down to the kitchen for a glass of water. She was surprised to see Ron already down there, also with a glass of water in hand.
“Can’t sleep?” She asked gently so she didn’t scare him. He turned to face her, their eyes meeting for a second.
“No,” he admitted. “I guess the adrenaline is still pumping.”
“Same here,” she responded, conjuring up a glass of water. “When Ginny said it was a night we wouldn’t forget, I didn’t think she meant like that,” she joked. That got a chuckle out of Ron and he looked down, alerting Rayna that something was wrong. When asked about it, the boy sighed.
“I was just really worried tonight, especially about you,” he started, surprising Rayna. “As soon as I realized what was going on, my first thought was to make sure you made it to safety. That’s how it’s been since your first year.”
“But- why?” Rayna asked, almost sounding breathless. Ron laughed a little, she was a bit dense sometimes.
“Because I’m in love with you. I’m well aware that you may not feel the same, believe me. But I don’t want to wake up one day and regret not telling you how I feel because of something stupid like pride or embarrassment. Rayna, to put it simply,” he took a deep breath. “I think I’m in love with you. If you don’t feel the same then we can just forget about this, just say the word.”
“I don’t want to forget about this,” she finally responded, voice soft. “I think I love you too Ron, but maybe we should take it a bit slow so we can understand all of this.” Ron mulled over her words before finally nodding. Without the need for words they stepped closer, but instead of kissing, they hugged each other. They hugged each other like it was the last time they’d see each other. Just a few seconds later they did kiss, and it was probably the most awkward thing either of them had done. They had become acutely aware that neither of them had had their first kiss yet. Yet, it was still perfect for both of them. It wasn’t a perfect confession and it wasn’t how Ron wanted it to go, but it had the result that he hoped for. That was good enough for him.

1994-1995
It didn’t take long for them to realize that they already knew more than enough about each other to be considered dating. So, they decided to just go ahead and put a label on it. They would never forget how funny it was when they kissed in front of the entire Gryffindor common room. Neville nearly fainted and the twins were cackling in the corner. The entire year felt like a dream to them. That is, until the third and final task of the Triwizard Tournament.
The stands jumped to their feet as Harry and Cedric appeared outside the maze, Harry holding the trophy in his hand. They won! Hogwarts won the Triwizard Tournament! Rayna hugged Ron excitedly shortly before a horrified scream left Fleur. That’s when the couple realized that something was off. Why wasn’t Cedric moving? Ron was the first to realize what happened because he suddenly pulled Rayna into a hug and attempted to shield her face from the maze.
“Rayna, don’t look,” he mumbled in her ear firmly. A dark feeling set in the pit of her stomach and she attempted to break free of his grip. No, it wasn’t possible. He couldn’t be-
“That’s my boy!” Amos Diggory yelled. “That’s my son!” Rayna finally managed to break free of her boyfriend’s grip and faced the maze, where Amos sat on his knees beside his son and Holly Diggory was being held up by Viktor Krum. She let out a shaky gasp as the realization hit her. Cedric Diggory, her best friend, was dead. She heard Dinah Fanley sobbing while being held by Fleur Delacour, which is what made her break down.
Her knees buckled beneath her but Ron managed to catch her and hold her closer than he ever has before. Her cries mixed with many others, but to Ron hers were the loudest and most heartbreaking ones.
Rayna sat alone in a train compartment on the way home from Hogwarts, not having the energy to talk to anyone else. Yes, she may not have been the closest with Cedric compared to some, but they were still very close. She remembered how excitedly he talked after he was chosen as the Hogwarts champion, and his happiness was contagious. She had spent more time with him that year, attempting to help him prepare for the three tasks in between helping Harry. They even made plans for their little friend group to hand out during the summer. Rayna reminisced about how she felt a little awkward at first since she was the only Gryffindor of the group, but Cedric made sure she was included and comfortable. Reminiscing was a bad idea, she realized as tears began blurring her line of sight.
For the most part she just stared out the window, attempting to get the image of Cedric’s lifeless body out of her mind. It was only when she heard the door to the compartment slide open that she finally looked away. Ron was standing in the doorway, but he didn’t take long to step in and close the door behind him. She expected him to say something, maybe offer condolences or ask her to sit with him and his friends. He didn’t do that though. Instead, he just took a seat beside her and held out his arms. She wasted no time in leaning into his embrace just as she had done the year before after Sirius Black’s attack. But this time it felt more intimate, more vulnerable. She wasn’t shy about being in his arms this time around, all she wanted was comfort without words and Ron was happy to oblige.

1995-1996
Rayna was starting to get angry with Professor Umbridge’s attempts to cover up Cedric’s death and it was starting to show. This had been the third time that Rayna left in the middle of Defense Against the Dark Arts because Umbridge kept saying that Harry was lying and Cedric’s death was nothing more than an accident.
“Excuse me, Miss Longbottom,” Professor Umbridge called sweetly just as Rayna reached the door. “May I ask what you’re doing?”
“Leaving,” she responded. “Thought it was pretty obvious considering I’m walking to the door.” The sass in her tone surprised not only the professor, but the rest of the class. Since when did she act out?
“And why is that?” Umbridge asked after recovering.
“Because you’re a vicious liar.” She heard a few students gasp as she turned around. The professor didn’t seem deterred by the insult, and instead began walking towards the girl.
“I see. And what, may I ask, am I supposedly lying about?” Rayna crossed her arms.
“Cedric Diggory was killed by He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named but the Ministry is trying to cover it up by calling Harry Potter a liar. And you not only encourage it, but you punish anyone into submission.” There was a tense silence in the room, everyone’s eyes darting between her and Professor Umbridge. The latter clasped her hands in front of her, her smile never faltering as she responded.
“Cedric Diggory’s death was-”
“It wasn’t just a death,” Rayna interrupted hotly. “He was murdered by Lord Voldemort! The Dark Lord murdered Cedric Diggory after he was brought back to life! Cover it up all you want but we know that it’s all a lie!”
“Enough!” Umbridge all but screeched, making Rayna shut her mouth. The woman collected herself rather quickly and shot the girl a much calmer smile.
“Since you seem to have trouble with spreading lies, I’m afraid I’ll have to give you a week’s detention with me. Fifty points from Gryffindor, and since you’re leaving, I would suggest you have a talk with your head of house.” She waved a dismissive hand towards the girl, dismissing her from class. Rayna stared at her furiously, but left class after seeing Ginny’s worried face.
The rest of the week happened in slow motion for Rayna, and she was acutely aware of the pain that came with her new scar. I must not spread lies would probably stay on her hand for the rest of her life, but at least it wasn’t as sore anymore. Rayna began wearing long sleeved shirts to cover it up and made Ginny swear not to tell anyone about this. The last thing she wanted was for Neville to see it, or worse, Ron. Of course the plan wouldn’t last, especially when the castle was so heated during winter. She was getting hotter, especially during training for Dumbledore’s Army because of all the work they were doing. One day after practice, Rayna took off her sweater since everyone seemed to have left. That instantly came back to bite her when she heard Ron’s voice behind her.
“Rayna, what’s that on your hand?” He questioned, walking towards her. The girl froze instantly and she hesitantly turned to face him.  She thought for a second, debating on whether it was worth it to hide her hand, but decided against it when she noticed Harry and Hermione appear at each of his sides. A resigned sigh left her lips and she held out her hand for them.
“I got detention with Professor Umbridge on Monday, today was the last day,” she explained as Ron took her hand to examine it. He, Harry and Hermione crowded around her hand, and Rayna could see Ron’s jaw clench.
“I ought to hex her into next year,” he snarled defensively. Her eyes widened as he dropped her hand and she shook her head.
“Ron no, it’s already done with,” she responded quickly. “I don’t have any more detentions with her anymore.” Ron shook his head and huffed, but Hermione was quick to come to Rayna’s aid.
“She’s right Ron. There’s no point in doing anything, you’ll just end up like her and Harry. I’m sure Rayna wouldn’t want that.” Rayna nodded in agreement, making the boy sigh. Instead of responding he stepped forward and wrapped her in a comforting hug. Rayna returned the hug, and it reminded both of them of that day in her second year after Sirius attacked her.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you,” he whispered low enough for only her to hear, but she only shook her head.
“It was my fault for keeping it from you,” she responded at the same volume. Ron pulled away just enough to press a kiss to her forehead.
“Well, like ‘Mione said, it’s in the past. Let’s get some dinner now, yeah?” He questioned, changing his tone into a more cheery one. Rayna couldn’t help but giggle as she nodded. The boy wrapped his arm around her shoulder, their smiles infectious enough to make Harry and Herione also smile as the three of them headed out to the Great Hall.

1996-1997
When Rayna was told that Ron had been poisoned at the Three Broomsticks, she honestly thought Harry had been joking. Then she arrived at the hospital wing and saw him lying there motionless. He recovered in no time though, then woke up to open his presents. He was delighted to see his parents had gotten him a traditional watch and Harry had gotten him a pair of keeper’s gloves.
His favorite gift was from Rayna though. She couldn’t be there to give it to him, but Hermione was happy to give it to him in her place. It was a triangular gold locket that had a picture of the two of them from their first date inside of it. He put it on straight away, instantly liking how it looked on him.
Rayna never got to see that before Ron ate the box of chocolate cauldrons that had been spiked with love potion. She caught him in the hallway after he got out of the hospital wing.
“Ron! I didn’t know you were released,” she greeted happily after catching up to him.
“Huh? Oh, yeah,” he trailed off distractedly, looking as if he was searching for something. Rayna’s eyebrows knit together but she continued anyway.
“Well, now that you're out, maybe we could head to Hogs-”
“Not right now Rayna, I’m trying to find Romilda,” he cut her off urgently. Rayna stopped in her tracks, then laughed awkwardly.
“Romilda Vane? Why?” She questioned. She watched her boyfriend sigh frustratedly.
“So I can ask her out,” he responded as if it were obvious.
“Ask her-” she muttered before staring at him in bewilderment. “Why would you ask her out when we are dating? You’re wearing the locket I gave you for Merlin’s sake.” Ron glanced down at the necklace in question then took it off without a second thought.
“Well, then I guess we’re breaking up. I’m not in love with you,” he said simply, dropping the necklace into her hand. He gave her no chance to say anything as he began walking away. Rayna could only stare at him with a heartbroken expression until he was almost out of sight. A small sob left her lips and she ran off to the Gryffindor tower.
When Harry found out what happened, he was furious. He wanted to tear his best friend a new one, then he realized what Romilda Vane did. He took the lovesick boy to Professor Slughorn to see if he had the antidote to the love potion. Ron was very confused to find himself in the presence of the professor, the last thing he remembered was being in the hospital wing.
You could imagine his shock when his sister approached him and practically screamed at him for breaking Rayna’s heart. Harry and Ginny then had to sit him down and explain what Rayna told them: Ron said he didn’t love her anymore and broke up with her for Romilda. It was safe to say that the boy felt terrible, and the first thing he did was go look for her. He used Harry’s map and found her in the common room. He barely got a thank you out before he was out of the room and sprinting to the Gryffindor tower.
He called out her name breathlessly upon entering, effectively catching her attention. She was ready to get up and leave, but he begged her to hear him out. Though hesitant at first, she eventually sat down and listened to his explanation. He spent the next ten minutes explaining what happened and apologizing, even going as far as pulling out the chocolate cauldrons box to show her Romilda’s picture inside. After that it was her turn to talk, she told him how (understandably) upset his words made her. But when he took off her necklace? Her heart was broken and she cried herself to sleep. Ron felt absolutely awful as he watched her tear up during her recount. After that he did the only thing he (in his opinion) was good at. He held her close and let her cry out her feelings. Rayna was able to forgive him after that.

1998
Voldemort was dead, and the Wizarding World was safe. It almost didn’t feel real to Rayna, or anyone really. The first thing she did was find her brother and tell him that Bellatrix Lestrange was dead, the woman who tortured them for years without even using her wand was gone and they were finally safe. For the first time since she was a baby, she felt safe and secure.
Next thing she did was find Ron. He was with Harry and Hermione in a group hug. It was only when they pulled away when they noticed the girl’s presence. She barely had time to call his name before he ran at her full speed and wrapped her in a hug that took both their breaths away.
“You’re okay,” she breathed out, relieved. She heard Ron chuckle into her ear before he pulled away to press a kiss to her forehead. Then, he placed more all around her face.
“So are you. God I’m so glad,” he responded softly before hugging her again.
“It’ll take more than a war to get rid of me Ron,” she giggled out. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Harry and Hermione watching them with soft smiles. Wordlessly, she opened one arm out to them. They took that as their invitation and they joined in the hug, a sign of solidarity to all of them that they were all still there, and they were all okay.

1999
“Rayna Longbottom, Head Girl of the 1998-1999 school year” Professor McGonagall called, which is the push that Rayna needed to walk across the quidditch field. The girl smiled brightly at the new headmaster and grabbed her diploma before shaking the woman’s hand. She could hear people cheer for her, but no one was louder than her brother and Ron. As she went down the line of professors that she would shake hands with, a sense of pride filled her chest. She quite literally went to hell and back for this, and now that she’s graduating it all felt worth it.
The rest of the ceremony went back in a blur, and next thing she knew everyone was throwing their caps in the air. Rayna was quick to find hers (the one with a gum wrapper that her mother gave her sticking to the top of it) and put it back on. After that she found Ginny and they walked out together. They found her grandmother and Neville first, hugging the two as they congratulated the graduates. Then they heard Fred and George’s voices above everyone else’s, calling for their sister. Ginny cupped her hands around her mouth and alerted them where she was. Without warning the twins practically tackled her into a hug upon finding her, which made Rayna burst out laughing. The rest of the Weasley clan joined them just a minute later, also laughing at the boy’s antics. Rayna nearly gasped when she felt someone’s arms around her waist from behind. She recognized the hands though, so she turned in her boyfriend's arms to hug him.
“Congratulations love,” he muttered loud enough for her to hear. She gave him a quick kiss in thanks then smiled brightly.
“Never thought the day would come. School felt like it would last forever,” she responded jokingly. The boy laughed and shook his head before looking down. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed the Weasleys and her family watching them intently, which confused her. She turned to face them but had no opportunity to question them before Ron got her attention once more.
“Rayna, there’s something I’ve been meaning to ask you something,” he started, hiding the anxiousness he felt.
“Oh? What is it?” She questioned curiously.
“Well, do you remember after the Quidditch World Cup, I told you how scared I was to lose you?” He asked, which caused her to nod as she harkened back to that day. “I never thought I would have to feel that fear again, but during the war when you were hit with the Cruciatus Curse, I was absolutely terrified. It felt like my world was crashing down when I saw you laying there, I honestly thought you were dead until Hermione felt your pulse. It made me realize how short life could be, and I don’t want to waste another second. So,” he paused then slowly lowered himself down on one knee. A few people had gathered around during his speech, but Rayna didn’t notice as her hand flew to her mouth. She watched in shock as he pulled something out of his pocket and held it out. It was a silver ring with a round diamond on top of it.
“Rayna Eloise Longbottom, will you marry me?” Several people gasped around them, but no noise could leave Rayna. She couldn’t believe it, was this actually happening? Yes, it was. Ron was on one knee in front of her proposing what she had been dreaming about since before the war. So, she said the first and only thing she thought of.
“Yes!”

On This Wild Night — Part Five
Notes: there are five consecutive lines of this chapter that reduced me to tears whilst writing. They’re not even sad or happy or anything, I’m just an emotional mess. A warning for drunken dad dancing and an incredibly lightly described intimate scene. Anyway, thanks to all who’ve been reading, especially those who have liked/commented/reblogged along the way. Means the world as always. Lots of love x

Arthur Weasley was drunk. Artemis had never seen him this drunk before. She might have actually preferred drunk Arthur to regular Arthur. Drunk Arthur was definitely more fun to dance with.
“Muggles call this one ‘the sprinkler’,” he informed Artemis, demonstrating a dance move.
“That’s a great one,” replied Artemis, copying him. “Arthur, what actually is a sprinkler?”
“I have absolutely no idea!”
Artemis laughed out loud as Arthur stopped ‘sprinkling’ and started to bob up and down, pinching his nose with one hand and wiggling the finger of the other hand.
“Where did you learn to dance like that?” she asked him.
“At a wedding, of course! Muggleborn friends. Excellent fun.”
“As fun as this wedding?”
“No, this is the best wedding I’ve ever been to,” said Arthur. He suddenly stopped dancing, and leaned in towards Artemis. “Don’t tell my wife I said that.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t.”
“It’s not that I didn’t enjoy my own wedding. But, as a rule, weddings are more fun when you're not the one getting married. Less stressful, much less pressure.”
“Even if you’re making a speech?”
“Ah, that’s nothing,” Arthur said, swiping each of his hands across in front of his eyes with the two first fingers extended in a V-shape. “Just do what Ron and I did before ours.”
“What was that?”
“Drink.”
Artemis grinned. No wonder Arthur was dancing so flamboyantly.
“No, I love weddings,” Arthur continued. He put his fists in front of his chest, stuck his elbows out to the sides, and flapped them like a bird. “A whole day dedicated to people being in love with each other, and bringing their families together. What could be better than that?”
It was lucky, really, that the music was so loud. It meant that Artemis was able to get away with not saying anything in response to Arthur’s question. She forced a smile, and nodded her head in time to the music.
“Of course, today is a bit different,” said Arthur, not seeming to notice Artemis’ discomfort with where the conversation was heading, “because Harry’s been a part of our family for so long. It’s just that it’s all above board now. Official.”
“Yeah. Right,” said Artemis, her smile slipping from her face.
“It’s funny, him being my son-in-law. You know, I already thought of him as a son, in some ways. Molly, too. Adding the ‘in-law’ bit seems formal. Legal. I think it’s a bit of a downgrade, don’t you?”
“I dunno.”
“I think they need a new word. For sons and daughters that aren’t technically yours but might as well be. Maybe out-law. That would definitely suit you.”
“What do you mean, me?”
“Well, you’re already part of the family. Have been for years, haven’t you?” Arthur started to walk backwards without taking his heels off the ground between steps. Artemis had stopped dancing. She might have stopped breathing. “Maybe we should start calling you our daughter-out-law. I’ll suggest it to Molly later. I think she’ll like having a name for what you are to us. Naming things makes them less complicated, I’d say.”
Artemis threw her arms around Arthur with such force that he stumbled slightly, and almost toppled over.
“Sorry,” she said, letting go and using her arm to steady him. “I just… Thank you for saying that, Arthur.”
“What?”
“That I’m family.”
“Why would you not be?”
“Well, I’m not married.”
“Doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, all that comes down to is a signature on a piece of paper. Family is more than that. It’s not about blood, or paperwork, it’s about love. Just love.”
“You know, Muggles say that love is all you need,” Artemis said, within a smile that she didn’t even have to force.
“I’m not surprised. They’re ingenious, Muggles are.”
Artemis giggled as Arthur started to dance away from her, his daughter-out-law, and towards Fleur, his daughter-in-law, who regarded him with a look that was made up of amusement, endearment, and disdain, each in equal measure.
The music changed abruptly, and became slower. Artemis smiled as she recognised the song, and looked to see who she would need to congratulate on their superior taste in music.
She turned towards the gramophone and saw Charlie stood next to it, pocketing his wand and looking straight at her. She sighed, and crossed her arms in front of her chest, though she felt considerably less angry now. At some point in the last two hours, her burning rage had given way to a mild niggling annoyance without her even realising it.
Charlie walked over to her and held out his hands.
“May I?” he asked, and she looked at him sceptically.
“Depends. Are you still planning on moving to New Zealand?”
“No, I’m not.”
“Then yes, you may.”
“Thank you,” said Charlie, smiling so that his dimples showed and fine lines crinkled at the corners of his eyes.
He took her hands in his, and led her to the doorway of the marquee, where the music was a little quieter, and there was less bustle and noise from the party guests. The cool air of the garden brushed Artemis’ skin, a welcome change from the cloying heat that had built up inside the marquee, and the crescent moon could be seen hovering over the outline of the house. Charlie placed Artemis’ hands on his chest and slid his own around her waist so that they came to rest on the small of her back.
“So,” said Charlie, stepping slowly so that the two of them swayed ever so gently from side to side, “I spoke to my mum.”
“And?”
“I told her the score, and she’s going to stop hassling you now.”
“Thank you,” Artemis said, her voice barely more than a whisper.
“You’re welcome. I also did a bit of thinking, and I came to realise that I’ve maybe not been the best boyfriend in the world today.”
“How so?”
“Well, I’ve neglected you a little. I mean, I left you at the church so I could… ush, and again at dinner with Percy and Audrey so that I could suck up to Kingsley. Then I was mucking around with my brothers after the speeches, and I didn’t take you back to the house after you fell over, which would have stopped the whole fiasco with Mum.”
“Charlie, none of those things are bad.” Artemis frowned. “We are our own people, we don’t have to be together all the time. And I didn’t need you to take me anywhere, I was fine.”
“I know you were. If I’m being honest, I mainly came over because I didn’t want to look like I didn’t care as much as the others,” Charlie admitted. Artemis nodded; she had guessed as much. “Still, I feel bad about it now. Not just that, but... It’s just that today was always going to be kind of difficult emotionally for everyone, and I’ve been trying to make sure things are okay for everyone, and I forgot that maybe I should’ve been making sure things were okay for you. That today was going to be difficult for you, too.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, like at dinner. I was trying so hard to impress Kingsley that I didn’t really think how hard it must have been for you to be there opposite Teddy. I know how much he reminds you of Tonks, and I just stole Kingsley away from you and left you to deal with that on your own.”
Artemis said nothing. Charlie moved his left hand off her waist and used it to push a strand of hair back from her face, and she felt some of the tension that had risen in her when he mentioned Tonks’ son dissipate.
“And I acted like a total arse when you were upset about what Mum said to you.”
“It wasn’t your finest moment,” Artemis agreed, and both of them grinned. “But it wasn’t mine either. I shouldn’t have threatened you or shouted at you like I did. I overreacted a bit. I’m sorry.”
“Apology accepted, but I shouldn’t have needed you to shout or threaten me to talk to Mum about it. It was obvious that she’d upset you, I should have gone to her voluntarily to sort that out for you. At the very least, I should have been more sympathetic about it. And I don’t think you’d have reacted that badly if I had been a bit more… attentive to you earlier in the day. I’m sorry.”
“Apology accepted.”
“Thank Merlin for that,” said Charlie, and he lifted Artemis’ hand to his lips. He kissed the heel of it, then closed his own hand over it. Artemis smiled.
“Why weren’t you being more attentive?” she asked him. “You normally are. Even your mum and Ginny said so.”
Charlie paused before answering, “I think… I think my head’s just been a bit all over the place today.”
“Because of Fred?”
“Mainly. And Tonks. And Ginny.”
“Ginny’s right there.”
“I know, but it’s weird. She’s the youngest of all of us, and… I don’t know. She’s meant to be the baby, and now we are at her wedding.”
“Yeah. I understand.”
“And I don’t know why, but as soon as all of us siblings get together, we all suddenly revert to being like we were when we were kids.” Charlie grinned sheepishly. “I know that’s not really an excuse, but…” He swallowed. “Like I said, I’m sorry. Are we alright now?”
Artemis nodded. “More than alright.”
As she rose up onto her toes to kiss him, Charlie smiled hopefully.
“So, does that mean you’ll try and catch the bouquet for me?” he asked her.
“What’s the prize money?”
“Ten Galleons, including the two I put in.”
“That’s not bad,” said Artemis. She considered it for a moment, her eyes narrowed with scepticism. “You’re not going to spend all that money on dragons, though, are you?”
“No, ‘course not. I was thinking that I’d take you out for dinner.”
“Dinner?”
“Fancy dinner. One of those places with all the tiny little portions. I’ll buy you the world’s smallest ever Bakewell tart.”
Artemis pursed her lips and cocked her head.
“Will you wear that suit?” she asked.
“I will if you wear that bra.”
“Deal.”
“Just remember, this place is going to be really classy.” Charlie raised his eyebrows. “You can’t go taking your knickers off at the dinner table.”
“I probably just won’t wear any.”
Artemis gave Charlie a mischievous smile. He chuckled as he placed a kiss on her forehead, before resting his chin on top of her head.
“I love you.”
“You too.”
The song ended, and another started, faster and more lively than the one before. A broad smile spread across Artemis’ face as she recognised the tune. Judging by the way Charlie’s lips had twitched into a near-smirk, he’d chosen that one, too. He really was attentive. Either that, or he just knew her far too well by now.
As the tempo of the music increased, so too did the rate at which they swayed side to side, their feet dancing them to the centre of the room. Charlie lifted her arm above her head, and pushed her gently so that she spun underneath it, before catching hold of her waist once more.
Artemis’ smile grew wider still. He was more fun to dance with than anyone.

“Weasleys, assemble!”
Charlie and his brothers gathered by the gramophone as the female guests made their way into the middle of the marquee, ready for Ginny to throw the bouquet. Charlie could just about pick out Artemis’ bare feet amongst the high heeled shoes, stepping lightly as she moved restlessly through the throng of women.
“I don’t understand why I ‘ave to join in,” Fleur was saying to Bill. “I am already married!”
“It’s just a bit of fun,” Bill replied, kissing her on the cheek. “And I think that you’d be good at it.”
Once Fleur was in the crowd and out of the way, George brought out the bag of Galleons.
“This is it, lads,” he said. “Only one of us can win all the gold.”
Ginny closed her eyes, and threw the bouquet backwards over her head. A split second later, it was carnage.
The little crowd of women turned into a mob, a mosh, a scrum, scrambling and tackling each other to try and grasp the bunch of flowers. The brothers laughed and cheered them on from the sidelines, and after a minute or two of jostling, a hand appeared, rising from the rabble, clutching the now-crumpled bouquet. Each brother strained to see who that hand belonged to.
“YES, AUDREY!” bellowed Percy, throwing his fists into the air.
Somewhat begrudgingly, George handed Percy the bag of Galleons, and Percy shook each of his brothers’ hands in turn.
“Thank you, gentlemen,” he said pompously. “Pleasure doing business with you all.”
“What are you going to spend your winnings on, Perce?”
“Well…” Percy sniffed, and adjusted his glasses. “I'm thinking I might use them to purchase an engagement ring.”
Ron looked stunned, and Bill clapped Percy on the back. George hugged him, and Charlie shook his hand again, before Percy ran to Audrey, his arms outstretched.
“Well, fancy that,” a deep, reverberating voice said behind Charlie. He turned to see Kingsley Shacklebolt watching the women mingle in the centre of the marquee.
“I know.” Charlie shrugged. “All those Quidditch players, and not one of them caught the flowers.”
“I really thought it would be Tiny.”
Charlie followed Kingsley’s gaze to where Artemis was standing on one leg, rubbing the arch of her bare foot, as she chatted with a couple of women Charlie recognised from the Quidditch matches at school. Her eyes were still lit up from the exhilaration of the chase, her untameable hair had come almost completely loose, and there was a dark scuff mark on her shin. He smiled.
“At least she looks happy,” Kingsley said. Charlie wasn’t sure if he was addressing him or just thinking out loud, but he nodded anyway. “That’s what matters.”
“Yeah.”
“For a long time, I thought I’d never see her this happy.”
“So did I.”
“I should‘ve known that she would be. She might have had to fight for it, but she always was a fighter.” Kingsley chuckled, a rich, melodious sound. “She was such a tough little thing. Wild. But you know that.”
“I do,” said Charlie, his eyes still on Artemis. He laughed quietly to himself. “She still is.”
“No, that will never change.”
“I wouldn’t want it to.”
Kingsley patted Charlie on the shoulder, slowly and just once, and Artemis caught sight of them watching her. She ran towards them, holding one side of her dress up so she wouldn’t trip on the hem. As she approached them, Charlie shook his head in mock-disappointment.
“What was that?” he asked her. “Pathetic attempt at catching a bouquet. And you call yourself a Seeker!”
“Tell you what, Charlie, next wedding we go to, you can have a go. I doubt you could do better, especially against that Audrey.” Artemis looked over her shoulder at Percy and his soon-to-be fiancée, a dark look on her face. “That woman is feral. You have no idea.”
Charlie and Kingsley exchanged glances over the top of Artemis’ head.
“I’ll take your word for it,” Charlie said, trying not to laugh. “I’ll add her name to the list of women who scare me.”
“Is my name on that list?”
“I think it might be on there twice.”
Artemis nodded, clearly satisfied with that answer.
“I actually came over to say goodnight,” Kingsley told them.
“Are you off?”
“I am. It’s tiring work, this politics. But I’m sure I’ll see you soon, Tiny. You look beautiful tonight, by the way.”
Charlie stepped backwards and averted his eyes so that Artemis could say goodbye to Kingsley in private. When he felt her return to his side, he held his hand out for Kingsley to shake.
“It was good seeing you again.”
“You too, Charlie,” said Kingsley, shaking the hand Charlie extended to him. “Perhaps you would like to go for a drink next time you are in the country. You can tell me more about those dragons of yours.”
“Yes, that sounds great. Thank you, Mr…” Charlie stopped mid-sentence and corrected himself. “Thanks, Kingsley.”
The Minister for Magic bowed his head, and walked off to find the bride and groom. Charlie turned back to Artemis and put his arms around her shoulders.
“No fancy dinner for us, then,” he said with a sigh. Artemis smiled as she leaned against him, playing with the ends of his loose bow tie.
“That’s a shame. I was really looking forward to you wearing the suit again.”
“I can just wear it around the house some time. You can feel free to do the same with that bra, if you like.”
“I dunno.” Artemis took her hands off Charlie’s tie, placed them on her ribcage, and started to wriggle. “It’s actually not that comfy.”
Charlie watched her as she squirmed.
“Is it not?” he asked. She shook her head, and her nose twitched. She was lying. “Should we go home and take it off?”
A wolfish smile played on Artemis’ lips. Charlie took her right hand in his left, and they went off to say their goodbyes before they left the marquee.
Outside, the night had grown colder still. Charlie let go of Artemis’ hand and draped his jacket over her shoulders. She held out her arm, and he took hold of it, and with a sound like a firecracker, they disappeared from the darkened garden of the Burrow, and reappeared in the hallway of Artemis’ old house.
It was strange, the way things changed, Charlie thought, as he kicked off his shoes, and she pushed his jacket off her shoulders, letting it fall to the ground. She’d lived here when she was a child, before he even knew her. Before the first time he ever saw her, eleven years old and tiny and dishevelled and lost and all alone.
She’d lived here when she was thirteen, the age she was the first time he hugged her, he thought, as he held her in his arms. She unbuttoned his shirt and let that fall to the ground, too. He took hold of her wrists to reposition her hands, the way he had when she was fourteen, and he taught her to ride a broomstick.
She led him up the stairs, and he followed her — he always followed her — hand in hand, like they had been at sixteen, clinging to each other for comfort in the middle of a storm. At the top of the stairs he unzipped her dress, and she stepped out of it, almost bare, and so vulnerable, as vulnerable as she had been at just seventeen, when she was going through the unimaginable. He’d been there then. He’d seen it. He’d seen her through it. She got through it. She always did.
Her hands were at his belt, and his trousers were removed, exposing his legs. He’d tried to run from his feelings, he really had. He’d managed it for years, but… she placed his hands on his chest — the chest that held his heart, the heart that beat for her — pushed him into the bedroom.
His lips met hers, the way they had that very first time, as adults, on the edge of the forest whilst the world burned and raged around them. He’d thought that it was all over, that it was the end for both of them. But it wasn’t the end. It was just the beginning.
And as they sank down onto the bed — they’d had that first time in this very bed, too — and their bodies melted together, he knew that this was a beginning, too. Every moment, every single moment, was the first moment in the rest of their lives.
He’d loved her for half his life. He still loved her. And she loved him.
And that was enough.
It was enough.

“You know, after that I think I might be pregnant.”
At the sound of Charlie’s comment, Artemis lifted her head from his chest and stared at him. She was going to say something sarcastic, but at the sight of his boyish grin, she laughed instead. She lowered her head back down and felt his hands running through her hair. Placing her hand on his torso in front of her, she started to let her fingers dance over his skin, tracing patterns in his map of freckles like constellations. There was still one small doubt at the back of her mind.
“Charlie?”
“Yeah?”
“Would you say that I’m a part of your family?”
Charlie’s chest rose and fell as he took a deep breath.
“I would, yeah,” he said, quietly. Artemis’ eyebrows stopped knitting together. “Why do you ask?”
“Oh, no reason. Just something your mum said earlier, when she was trying to marry us off.”
“What was that?”
“It’s nothing really. Just that if we got married I’d be a real member of your family, that’s all.”
Charlie shifted his position so that he was propped up on his elbow, and Artemis moved off his chest.
“She said that to you?”
“It’s fine, Charlie.”
“No, it’s not.” Charlie shook his head, and brushed her cheek with his thumb. “That’s not okay, Artie. I’ll talk to her.”
Artemis blinked at him.
“What?” he said, and he raised his eyebrows at her. “I can do that now.”
“Do you want me to make you a certificate?”
“Very funny.”
“I mean, if you really want to talk to her about it, you can. You can do it when we go back to help take down the marquee tomorrow.”
“See, the thing is, I was thinking that maybe we don’t need to help. I mean, how many people does it take to put down a marquee, really? Maybe we just shouldn’t go.” At the look on Artemis’ face, Charlie grinned sheepishly. “I’m only joking. If you want me to mention it to her I will. Promise.”
“Nah, don’t worry. I actually spoke to your dad, and he said marriage was just a signature on a bit of paper and didn’t matter.”
“Definitely won’t be mentioning that to Mum.”
“Best not,” said Artemis, and she shuffled so that she and Charlie were lying face to face. “I just wanted to see what you thought, that’s all.”
“Right. Well, I’m with Dad on this one. You’re definitely my family.”
“I know that. I was thinking more about your actual family.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, I always thought that I was kind of one of you, like I belonged. But after your dad’s speech about loving us because we love you, and especially when your mum said that, it made me think that maybe the only reason they think I fit in is because you do. That they love me for you, and not for myself, if you see what I mean.”
“I do see what you mean, but that’s not how it is at all. I don’t come into the equation. They love you. Just you. How could they not?”
Artemis didn’t say anything. She rolled over to look up at the ceiling, where through the skylight she could see the moon but not the stars. She felt the mattress move, and knew that Charlie had done the same.
“Would you ever want to do all that?” he said, speaking into the darkness. “Get married and have babies and everything?”
Artemis frowned. She didn’t really like babies. As much as she loved Victoire and Dominique for the simple reason that they were Bill’s children and her goddaughters, she wouldn’t want to have to be the one with them strapped to her all day, every day. Not to mention that she still struggled to even look at little Teddy Lupin, the way her own mother had struggled to look at her. If that was any indication of what she’d be like as a parent, she was better off not being one.
And if Arthur was right, and marriage really was just a signature on a piece of paper and weddings were less fun when they were your own, what was the point? Especially if it meant sacrificing a part of yourself, like Ginny had been worried about, she wasn’t sure she wanted that either.
Yes, it would make Molly happy, but it wasn’t really Molly’s choice, was it? It was hers. She made her own choices. She did what she wanted. She was free.
“No,” she said eventually. “Never. What about you?”
“I don’t know. I kind of always thought that one day I’d get married and have children, but I’m not sure if that’s something I actually want or whether it’s just because that’s what everyone else does, and what they all expect me to do as well.” Artemis felt Charlie shrug beside her. “Maybe one day. Definitely not now, though.”
“But one day you might?”
“Maybe. I really don’t know.”
“And if you do, what then? What about me?”
There was a pause, and then Charlie sat up. He turned so that he was facing the headboard, and pulled Artemis upright so that she was sitting facing him. Keeping hold of her hands, he ran his rough fingertips over her palms.
“Artemis, I don’t know what I’m going to want when it comes to getting married or having children, but I do know that I’d never want to do all of that — any of that — with anyone but you.”
“But I don’t want to do any of that.”
“I know. Listen,” he put both of Artemis’ hands into his right, and placed his left on the side of her face, his thumb resting on the small scar on her right cheekbone. “If it comes to the point where I have to make a choice between having none of those things with you or having any one of those things with someone else, I’m going to choose you. I will always choose you.”
“You can’t know that for sure.”
“I’m more sure of that than I am of anything else in the world.”
Artemis raised her eyebrows at him.
“Even dragons?”
“Even dragons.”
She leaned forward and kissed him, slowly, and deeply, and lovingly. When their lips parted, they stayed with their foreheads resting together.
“You know, I don’t like babies, but I do like kittens,” Artemis whispered. “Maybe we could have some of those instead.”
Charlie pulled his head away from hers and frowned.
“How?” he asked, his expression of disconcertion growing more pronounced by the second.
“You can just buy them, Charlie.”
“Oh,” Charlie exhaled. He looked suddenly relieved. “I thought you meant as in…”
“Ugh, no!” Artemis recoiled from him. “How would that even work?”
“I don’t want to know,” Charlie muttered. He shuddered, and then composed himself again. “What about dogs? You like dogs, don’t you?”
“Yeah, but I’d prefer a cat.”
“You already have Fergus. Let’s get a dog.”
“No, a cat.”
“Dog.”
“Cat.”
“Baby?”
“Dog.”
Charlie smiled triumphantly.
“I’m glad we agree,” he said, and lay back down with his head on the pillow. Artemis stayed seated.
“Wait,” she said, twisting around to look at him. “So, does this mean we’re actually getting a dog, or was that a hyporhetorical thing?”
Charlie laughed, not unkindly, and reached out to stroke her arm.
“You know, I’m actually being serious. Let’s get a dog. A really big one. One I can train to pin you to the ground when you’re being annoying.”
Artemis batted him gently and he laughed again.
“You really want us to get a dog?” she asked.
“That’s what I said, isn’t it?”
“I heard. This just seems like a very laid back way to decide to get a dog, that’s all.”
“Do you want it to be more formal?”
“No, I just—”
“I can make it more official if you like,” Charlie sat back up. “Do you want me to get down on one knee?”
The daring look in his brown eyes and the smile causing his freckled cheeks to dimple were obvious, even in the very dim moonlight. Artemis reached up and pushed his red hair back from his ever-so-familiar face. That boy. That man. That person she’d grown to love. She smiled, as much to herself as to him.
“Yeah. I do.”

Chapter 2
When you are born in a burning house, you think the whole world is on fire. But it’s not.
Tito Merello Vilar // Richard Kadrey
Regulus sat on the velvet green sofa wringing his hands. He didn’t know where to begin.
“Would you rather me look for myself Regulus?” Snape stated clearly becoming agitated with the on going silence
“No I… I just don’t know what to say” His eye still glued to his hands
“Begin with how she ended up in my house on my table” Snape was at his whits end rolling his eyes in irritation
“The Dark Lord needed a servant. He arrived at our house intending to use Kreacher but my mother decided differently….”
The Dark Lord stood in front of Regulus and Walburga, staring down at Walburga in surprise.
“A squib?”He asked raising his eyebrows “Why is this the first I’m hearing of this?”
“We didn’t want to disgrace Our Lord with the knowledge of the abomination. No one knows of her but those in this house, She will not be missed” Walburga said keeping her head down to avoid His gaze
Regulus dug his nails into the hands resting by his side, focusing on regulating his breathing.
“Regulus go get the girl while I speak more with your mother.” the cold voice demanded
“Yes my Lord” Regulus bowed before exiting the room
As soon has the door shut behind him, he ran stumbling up the stairs and whipping around the corner to the room next to his slamming the door open. Making the girl on the bed shoot up.
“Regulus what-” Regulus held his hand up cutting the girl off
“Keacher come” With a crack the elf was in the room as well
“Arabella you are about to meet the Dark Lord you must not speak with him unless spoken to, you must not look at his face, and you must not speak of what i am about to tell you. Do you understand?” Regulus stated pulling her from the bed and smoothing her hair down
Her large gray eyes looked up at him her bottom lip quivering with fear. She gave him a short nod showing her understanding.
He grasped her shoulders and began “He is going to take you somewhere and what he will have you do will most definitely hurt. He will leave you for dead. You must clear our mind and call out Kreacher's name when this happens.”
He paused glancing over at Kreacher who was looking at them with round eyes “Kreacher it is imperative that you go to her when she calls. You must bring her directly to me without hesitation.” Kreacher gave a stout nod
“Regulus j'ai peur” Arabella's voice quivered
He pulled her into his chest “N'ayez crainte, nous sommes en paix.”
He gave her a firm kiss on her hairline before taking her hand and guiding her down to the sitting room. He gave her hand a firm squeeze before whispering “Être fort.”, letting her hand fall to her side before pushing the door open.
Walburga and the Dark Lord stopped their conversation and looked up. The Lords pale hand stretched out beckoning the smaller girl to come forward.
Arabella shuffled forward carful to keep her gaze to the ground.
She felt his cold eyes boring into her as she stopped in front of them. She felt a cold hand grasp her chin as the Dark Lord forced her head up to meet his gaze. He looked over her face with cold calculating eyes as she forced herself to fixate of the wallpaper behind him.
He let out a tsk before letting her head fall back down. “It’s a shame she would have made a beautiful witch. What a pity.” He stated patronizingly making both Regulus and Arabella stiffen
For just a moment Arabella felt rather grateful she was a squib after remembering the stories Regulus shared about what the Dark Lord does to witches he finds beautiful.
“She will do.” He said looking back at Walburga
“Thank you My Lord for allowing our family to serve you once more.” Walburga said bowing
“Indeed” He turned and began walking towards the door his dark cloak bellowing behind him.
Walburga all but shoved Arabella in his direction indicating for her to follow. Kreacher was the at the door opening it for the Lord. The wind outside was beginning to pick up as the Dark lord walked out with Arabella behind him. She took one last look behind her as the he hair bellowed around her face making her look like she was flying before the man took a firm grasp on her upper arm making her flinch. The couple disappeared into swirl of black smoke shooting up into the sky.
“I don’t know where she was taken or what he had done to her. It was only a few hours later that Kreacher appeared in my room with her.” Regulus said concluding his recount of the previous night still looking down at his hands
Snape stayed silent for a few moments, taking in the information before asking a question which he felt he already knew the answer “And why have you brought her here?”
“You’re the only one I know with Occumulacy powers strong enough to keep the knowledge of her survival a secret.” He paused looking up at Snape, “Please Severus you and I both know of the prophecy. This war will not be waging much longer. All that I ask is that you give her shelter until it passes.”
Severus shut his eyes deep in thought. The two sat in silence for a few moments before Severus gave a nod.
Regulus let out a sigh of relief before bending to hold his head in his hands.
“Can you swear it?” He mumbled
Severus looked at him in surprise, the nerve of this kid dropping an unwarranted guest on his feet and now asking him to make an unbreakable vow.
“Not unbreakable obviously theres no witness. I just need your word that you will hide and protect her until this war is over.” Regulus clarified sensing the change in air around Snape.
“I give you my word.” Severus said plainly “Just one question, Why not take her to Sirius?”
Regulus grimaced at the name “He left her in that house for a reason.”
