introducing seedlings, a discord for studyblr and beyond
this is an all-ages, all-stages discord. It’s not specific to any one kind of learning journey--self-taught or classroom, public or private school, university or trade are all welcome here. just learning better habits or trying to treat yourself more kindly? we’re here for you too. come on in and let’s grow together!
this is a loving, trauma-informed space--we are pro-mental health, pro ALL letters in 2SLGBTQIAA+, welcoming to managing life with disability and chronic illness, antiracist, and intolerant of prejudice and xenophobia.

hi there, i'm trying to get into the coding community so to speak. what sites can i join to discuss/do coding related stuff? I know about stack overflow, github and leetcode but i'm sure there are more, do you have any advice on which spaces are worth joining? thanks!
Communities To Join For Coding/Programming
Tumblr media
Yeah I can help! In terms of "which spaces are worth joining" would depend on you. What I see as a place worth joining is a place where I can teach others - I like giving knowledge back on what I learnt so some places that I listed don't work well for me to do that and some others I prefer the most like the discord servers I'll mention. So, you'll have to skim through these and see if they're something you like!
Anyhoo, here are some places I found:
Reddit: There are many subreddits dedicated to coding, such as r/learnprogramming, r/coding, and r/programming. You can also find subreddits dedicated to specific programming languages or technologies so you can get specific help or provide the help to those languages etc.
Codecademy Forum: They have a forum and a discord server where you can talk about the courses and get buddies to do projects together who are at the same level as you!
FreeCodeCamp Forum: This website offers free coding lessons and projects, and also has a community forum where you can ask for help and connect with other learners. I met 2 developers from there who helped me a lot.
Dev.to and Medium: Both a community where developers come to share their knowledge and experiences through blog posts and discussions. Developers sometimes gain good writing experience by writing these posts (great way to move towards being a technical writer). I've made a Dev.to account and I'm slowly adding my programming posts from here to there and I want to start using Medium too 🤔
Discord: There are many Discord servers dedicated to coding, where you can join discussions and get help with coding problems. I made a whole post with a list of discord servers I'm part of and would recommend it if you want to get into it! I made lots of developer friends from the discord servers. Intimidating at first but slowing you'll like it I think! I'm mostly there to help people with HTML and CSS problems and you can help people the same with whatever. you're strong in!
In the end, the websites and communities you choose to join will depend on your interests and goals. I recommend exploring a few different options and finding the ones that work best for you - I did that and I preferred the discord servers over the subreddits 😅
Good luck with your coding journey! 😸👍🏾💗

Psst • I am trying to find some people who would be interested in joining a sweet little dark academia / studyblr / book club themed discord server.
We're a small (18+) community who started as a tumblr group chat before we switched over to discord. On there, we talk about all kinds of interests, support one another while studying, discuss books, and, most importantly, have a relaxing time while getting to know lovely souls from all over the world.
If this sounds right up your alley, please send me a message and I will provide you with the invitation link.
I would highly appreciate if you were to spread the word by reblogging or telling people about it. Thank you! <3

I made a discord server dedicated to studying and academics (with some hobby channels). It's 18+ so please don't join if you're under age.

100 days of productivity 25/100
Tumblr media
Generally I can't study in school. I need to say things out loud and repeat them a billion times. But I haven't had the will to study physics at home where I could do that. Apparently studying physics 🔭 in school is the way to go because I covered a whole 4 topics!! I did my math homework and half my physics homework, the rest I'll do tomorrow morning 📝
I was really productive in school today. Studied for an hour between classes and still managed to use one of my frees to just talk with my friend. Plus we had our group therapy again and it was so fun!! It was actually quite healing too 💗
My pup's been strange again. She was growling around her food much more today and I tried something different. Didn't work and she went into time out. Then she started to guard her toys. ;-; I don't know how to stop this.
Lastly, I made that discord server for ⚛️ The Sci Journal team and made a form for others to join from! I literally almost cried because it was happening 🥹. It IS actually happening. Other people are involved with this now and it's a bit of a bigger task than I initially thought. But just think of the reward that will come from this!!

hmm you know what would be cool. having a discord server or something for all of the codeblr blogs. i don't really have any programmer friends that i can talk to regularly, and it'd be neat to maybe interact with a few mutuals and get to know each other (i'm a little shy so it can be hard reaching out one-on-one)
it wouldn't be only mutuals of course, and i don't know if anyone would actually be interested, but if you are feel free to reply/reblog/like/dm (who knows - it might even be a general studyblr or stemblr thing?)

How to gain access to the Seitokai Discord server
Hi, friends! It's @onigiriforears (aka shay) here! I'm going to teach you how to gain access to our entire server. Step by step.
Step 1: The first message and channel that you'll see when you enter the server is in the #welcome channel. It'll look something like this:
Tumblr media
Step 2: Please follow the directions and head over to the #rules channel. This channel is going to make sure that you understand the rules and guidelines of the server. It's imperative that you read it because even though this is a server focused on learning and free resource sharing, we're a community server that's trying to make sure that we don't violate Discord's guidelines. READ THEM IN ENTIRETY. If you're confused, feel free to message me on Discord (I'm the "shay" that's mentioned/pinged in your welcome message. I know you're in the server--I allow the server's notifications to push through my DND settings.) You could also message me or send me an ask @onigiriforears, but discord will get you a faster response.
Tumblr media
Step 3: From there, please go to the #verify-yourself channel. In this channel, you'll be confirming that you didn't lie about actually reading the #rules. We (me, mods, and admin) can tell if you're lying based off of what #roles you have (or don't have). Why do we have it set up this way? We're trying to discourage trolls and bots from entering the server. Because, unfortunately, we have been raided and trolled more than once. Some specific moments would be when someone broke through our (at the time) low-key "pick a role" option and stole our roster list. They used it to find mutual servers that they shared with members and then harassed them in the mutual servers after being banned in ours. (That included stealing ppl's stuff in the dank meme bot and whatnot.) A second time would be when someone broke through our mandatory #roles and spammed channels and told everyone that people who can't get to N1 in a year are dumb <not a good look. He was promptly banned lmao.
Tumblr media
Step 4: Head over to the #roles channel. IT'S SO IMPORTANT. This is where you'll have to choose the one role that's mandatory--every other role within that channel is optional besides the JLPT level roles. Why? Since we're a community server focused on resource sharing and engagement, we also make sure we pay attention to our server demographics. If we have a slew of N5 or beginning members, we make sure that we have a lot of N5-targeted events and resources available. For a while, we had no N2 and N1 members, so we were able to hold off on posting kanji for the levels for a bit while we focused on something else. Now, we have a good mixture.
Tumblr media
Step 5: ENJOY THE SERVER! If you've properly followed steps 1-4, you'll have gained access to the entire server. If not, please message me or you might find yourself in server purgatory where we ping you to get your attention until you either ask for help or you follow through lmao--aka the #temp channel. It's a private channel that only admin and other purgatory-dwellers can see. Once you get your appropriate roles, the channel disappears for you.
Tumblr media
If you're thinking, this is a pain of a way to get in: it was a pain for me to set it up like this, too. Trial and error over almost 2 years of being a server. I can say that after setting it up this way, we haven't had anymore trolls or bots enter.

Codeblr Blogs Unite - Discord Server
Tumblr media
Hiya everyone! | The original post 💗
I'm excited to announce that the amazing @vexacarnivorous started a new Discord server for members of the Codeblr community, and the Stuyblr community, on Tumblr!
As a fellow student and coding enthusiast, I know how important it is to have a supportive community that can offer guidance and motivation. The community here are super supportive and caring about each other coding journeys!!
That is why @vexacarnivorous created this server, to provide a space where we can all come together and help each other achieve our academic and coding/programming goals.
The server has channels dedicated to discussing different study paths such as stem, web dev, comp-sci and more! Sharing study tips and resources, and even hosting study sessions together in the voice channels! We even have a ✨Holy Mentor✨who can help with questions!
Tumblr media
Join The Server!
Let's work together to make the most of our study and coding journeys! (if I missed anything else out, do let me know @vexacarnivorous)

My co-working / study discord server is inviting new members! We have a mix academic channels (for help, general chat, resources, languages, etc) and off-topic channels (for hobbies, gaming, art, crafts, etc). Everyone has been manually approved for the voice channels (muted with optional cams/screensharing - and ones with no cams allowed). It is 16 years minimum, with most around 20-25! Whilst there are 2,000 members - its low in active members so makes for a quiet, chill experience! Please hop in if you're interested!
