Perisex allies: stop this shit
CW: intersexism
Came across this infographic during some google image searching and I'm still kind of a state of despair about it because it's not just offensively wrong about what intersex is, it was used to teach university students about queer issues:
Tumblr media
Alt text: LGBTQIA+ are defined one by one. Intersex is defined erroneously as "These are people who were born with genital organs of both sexes (male and female). It is a genetic condition."
It's one thing for your rando perisex person to be getting this wrong on social media. It's another thing entirely when it's professionals getting this wrong in an educational setting. 😩 And that this infographic appears in a peer-reviewed publication. 😩
It's even worse to know the students that were taught with this infographic were medical students, who will be the ones traumatizing intersex people for decades to come 😩
It's so wrong in so many different ways:
Intersex is not limited to people with genital differences. Most intersex people have intersex variations that are not apparent at birth, with puberty being the most common time of life for variations to present. Many people find out in adulthood having no outward physical differences.
Of the intersex people with genital differences, they do not have two sets of genitals. Most genital differences are still recognizably female or male (e.g. spadias), and those who have ambiguous genitals have one set.
Intersex is not "male parts + female parts" or even "intermediate male/female parts", it is an umbrella term for anybody whose primary/secondary sex characteristics don't line up with what is expected for male and female bodies. Some intersex variations make women look more feminine, or make men look more masculine.
Defining intersex by genital differences doesn't just exclude most intersex people, it also sets the tone that we are defined by our genitals. To be publicly intersex is to have non-stop DMs about your genitals. This sort of framing sets up openly intersex people for invasive questions and harassment, and it keeps large numbers of intersex people from coming out.
Many intersex variations do not have a known genetic basis. Many intersex variations are caused by exposure to certain hormonal levels in the womb. Certain medications when taken during pregnancy can trigger intersex variations.
While bodily variation is necessary for being intersex, the social experience of stigma, discrimination, isolation, hyper-medicalization, and hyper-sexualization are all just as much a part of being intersex.
📣 Perisex allies: this is shit you can stop. When you see other perisex people parrot this sort of misinformation, correct them. Direct them to look up resources written by actually intersex people.
Here are some starter resources to give:
Intersex explained by Hans Lindahl
Media and style guide by IHRA
FAQ by intersex-support
A recent post I did compiling information for trans people who want to be better intersex allies

It's time to fight back!
LGBTQ+ folks and allies, our rights are under attack. The ACLU, which tracks anti-LGBTQ+ legislation across the nation, has identified over 400 bills currently making their way through state Congresses and Senates. We must stand together against these horrific policies for the good of all queer people.
On March 31st, 2023, Queer Youth Assemble is planning protests across the nation to center youth voices and allow all queer people and allies to make their displeasure known.
Join us at marches in over 30 states (with more joining up every day!) as well as Washington DC. Turn up in large enough numbers so that legislators know that we will not stand for this.
Read and sign our List of Demands!
Find a march near you! Tumblr masterpost of marches can be found here!
Donate (we are raising money for transportation, organizing expenses, free masks, and ASL interpreters!)
Follow this page for updates and to see state marches featured.
To learn more, send an ask here or email [email protected]!

Alright yall this is important and about ACTUAL PREDATORS on this website that I need you all to report.
Some of these accounts are minors so please take care in that regard but many are adults who are pro-contact MAPs
This all originated from one account called @/radqueer-confessional - now @/confessions-ofa-radqueer who posts asks such as these as well as running an all age dating service on their blog. I have not investigated the Sessions but I have reported it to relevant tip lines. However after this pops off I bet it will be taken down
Btw 🚸 seems to be a new code for adult and minor relationships - there are more but this should be enough to start with - the first screenshots are disorganized thanks to mobile nonsense but some are examples of the posts and others are blogs who interacted with the posts
⚠️Please report these blogs and spread this if you are in a good space to do so - I am tagging communities involved for reach more than anything else because of importance ⚠️
Thank you for your time.

yeah fucking PSA
there's an "aromantic" survey made by aromanticandhappy that I'm pretty fucking sure has been made by a fucking crypto TERF. It is blatantly fishing for people to answer with "Yes AFAB people are more oppressed", equates AFAB and AMAB with, and I quote, "biological men and women", and is just?????
It literally reads like it was written by a TERF who's trying to hide the fact that they're a TERF. Especially because that's a brand new blog created for the sole purpose of posting the survey.
It's suspicious as fuck. Be wary.

even tho I'm a cis lesbian, I hate seeing people say stuff like "I hate men" "KAM" and "cis guys are the worst" and yk, anything else about men being bad because;
1. The whole point of feminism is that nobody should be treated differently purely because of their gender
2. Saying all men suck is making an assumption based on an irrelevant category, and barely any different to ideologies like "all women want is your wallet"
3. By specifying cis guys you are separating trans and cis men, as if trans guys aren't literally men, which results in you being transphobic (regardless of whether or not that was your intent)
4. Men who see people online talking about hating men are probably going to be offended - and they have every right to be - which over time only results in them becoming more sexist (and the last thing we need are more tate-riders)
5. There are shitty people in every gender category - men, women, non binary or whatever else one identifies as, because gender holds no regard to moral value
There's probably a million other reasons but at the end of the day it's shitty to say that you don't care for men because let's be honest, we shouldn't be making assumptions based on gender because that's kind of why feminists have been getting pissed at men for like thousands of years...

when talking about a singular person who uses they/them pronouns, you say themSELF, not themSELVES
themselves is strictly plural, and can cause confusion
also dont be annoying and say like “haha! you used the plural form, when you should have used singular!!”, be polite (or dont correct them at all if it isnt causing confusion)
sincerely,
a writer who uses they/them pronouns

Okay, I need help. My name is Tobi Holaday. I am 30 years old and nonbinary, living with chronic illness. I have a life saving operation happening soon. Currently, I work for a small local gallery in Milwaukee, WI. The problem is, my boss can't afford to give me medical leave and I am going to be out of work for two months. I have been trying to save money but I need help so that I can pay my bills and rent while I am unable to work. Any little bit you can do will be extremely helpful! Even if you can just reblog and spread this to others to help me get the word out and keep me from getting evicted.
I don't normally ask for help and have struggled through being homeless because of that trait. I am in a better spot, but if I become homeless again, this time while recovering from surgery, I do not believe I will survive. Anything you can do will be a big help. I'm gonna tag my fave fandoms to help get this started. Thanks everyone.

Hello 👋 I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer at the end of 2023 while I was pregnant with my second child. It has been a battle to say the least but I am fighting! I had my first mastectomy while pregnant last year and recently finished chemo and radiation, which is huge but me and my family still have a LONG road ahead of us! I completed the ovary surgery now the other mastectomy will be next, once my radiation site heals. I will get another huge surgery! In the meantime I am taking my medication to hopefully keep any cancer from returning!! Physical therapy is in the works for my left arm. What a journey. I appreciate people taking the time to read this. My friends and family have been amazing threw this all!!! If you feel like you would like to donate my link is below! Please keep us in your prayers. I am FIGHTER! I would appreciate if anyone could share this! I ❤️
I knew this was suspicious when I first got it and with further discovery, this is in fact a scam. Please don't reblog or post this scammers information unless you are spreading the word they are a scammer.
1.) They only have posts dating back to about yesterday, seemingly not of which have original text or tags adding on to it.
2.) This scammer has been scamming any inbox they get get into, literally just copy paste their spheel into tumblr search and you'll find other people calling out the scam.
3.) Another user discovered this linkedin post of the actual person with cancer:
Tumblr media
Stealing donations from people with cancer is a new fucking low. I hope you also explode in a car covered with hammers.

Each and every queer & trans youth serving org has  responded in their own ways, prompting walkouts, protests, legislative challenges, organizational statements, and other rebuttals in an attempt to swing the momentum. Now it’s time to unite our communities powerful work and collectively advocate for youth as one!”
