The Case for Toshinori Yagi Living and What (Could) Happen Next
Now that MHA 386 is officially out in English as of 4/23/23, @aoimikans and I can talk about our discussions and theories of what comes next. This is mainly an argument for (and reassurance of) Toshinori Yagi living through the coming fight with All for One with evidence from the series—as well as some related theories and predictions.
Buckle in, because this is a long one.
Tumblr media
An outline for the sake of having an abbreviated list of what we intend to cover:
The Case for Toshinori Yagi living through this fight and why.
Toshinori’s character arc - What we know, and how it has been presented - A Callback to a Previous Meta: “Narrative as an Active Force [...] True Heroic Ideals” / Toshinori’s Heroic Spirit
Shigaraki vs. Izuku - The One for All Mindscape - Bakugou completes the whole. Save to Win. Win to Save.
Toshinori’s last fight and its nature - Won’t cost him his life, but may cost him a limb.
The proximity of Hero Killer: Stain - Also, does he have the Green Goblin hover glider?
The Question Posed: Can a Quirkless Person Be a Hero? - The difference between "Hero wa dekimasu ka?" and "Kimi wa hero ni nareru."
Nighteye’s Vision and Twisting Fate - How it’s worked before
Citizens of MHA - How they could help
All for One’s Hatred and Self-Inflicted Demise - He isn’t the same AfO
Quirks: What we know, and how we know it - What are Quirks - To be Quirkless - To have multiple Quirks
How All for One could screw himself over in the end - It’s too late for him
Whereas Toshinori has decided to live…
What we know: Toshinori grew up as a Quirkless young man living in a state of terror with a strong drive to do something to change the world and make it better. His mentor, Nana Shimura, was like a mother to him and passed the power of One for All to him. She was killed, and Toshinori was forced to flee until he was strong enough to take down AfO’s empire. He returned and in his first fight with AfO he believed he killed him. He was injured to the point his sidekick Sir Nighteye suggested retirement and revealed a vision of a terrible death at the hands of a villain. Toshinori refused to retire, but he became disheartened even while he continued his work as a hero with a shortening time/endurance limit. Then he was inspired after meeting Izuku. Izuku changed his outlook, particularly during and after the Kamino fight.
How it has been presented: Perhaps some of the most defining moments of Toshinori’s character arc are scenes in which he declares his desire and determination to live despite the hardships of his post-Kamino existence. Let’s take a look at some:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It has not been an easy road for Toshinori. After making the above declarations, his self-worth took a major blow when he fell behind, unable to keep up and support Izuku in the way he felt he needed to. But then, he was given an intervention from some unexpected sources—Hero Killer Stain and the last person All Might saved—who gave him back his will to live, and he reaffirmed his drive to live and support his students.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Toshinori’s character development—particularly post-Kamino—has been all about being Toshinori Yagi and having a life after losing his ability to be All Might. Toshinori Yagi is flawed, not the physical powerhouse he was as All Might, but he has worth and the desire to live as himself.
Toshinori lives and his character arc and development all mean something. The mentor-dies trope died with Nana Shimura in the last generation of heroes. Sir Nighteye’s vision of a certain, terrible future died with him (see the Nighteye section below for an expansion on this). Toshinori’s character shows a life after being a career hero, being a Pillar of society, and being a Symbol of Peace. He didn’t lose his value when he used up the last of One for All. Toshinori has inherent value and should be allowed to live out the rest of his natural life.
Toshinori dies… and then what? What was the point of his declarations? What was the point of his development and overcoming hardships? These were personal victories witnessed by very few people in private moments. Just from a story-writing perspective, his death would be so incredibly unsatisfying. And if he dies, what happens with AfO? Does he just move on to the next fight? No, death doesn’t make sense here.
I once wrote a meta post titled “Narrative as an Active Force and Izuku as an Embodiment of Heroic Ideals”. In the post, I briefly discussed how those that left the path of a True Hero typically faced suffering punishment (usually an injury or an encounter with Stain). In the case of Toshinori, his first fight with All for One resulted in his injury because he fought—if only for that final blow—for revenge for Nana Shimura. AfO taunted him, insulted Nana Shimura, and All Might “killed” him.
Toshinori’s choice to go and face All for One for a third time without a Quirk was an act of bravery, sacrifice, and True Heroic Ideals. This alone would, in a way, atone for his previous actions of fighting with wrath and intent to kill.
This altruism—not a Quirk, not power, not fame—is what makes him a hero.
Whereas Shigaraki is Izuku’s foil and foe, not All Might’s…
Just as Toshinori told Naomasa Tsukauchi that he was always meant to fight All for One (and told Todoroki to return to face Touya/Dabi), Izuku is meant to fight Shigaraki. It is also important to note that Naomasa was also present when Gran Torino told Toshinori that he could never fight Shigaraki because he would not be able to see him as a villain, but as Nana Shimura’s grandson.
Each party is pairing off to face the foe they are meant to face.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Toshinori lives and faces All for One, helping take down the villain whose evil acts formed Toshinori’s youth and career. He is the best suited in this moment to tie that loose end.
Toshinori dies… and then what? He would join the other vestiges of One for All holders past. But what good would that do? Flame Vestige Toshi already receives input from Toshinori with him still living.
Tumblr media
Flame Vestige Toshinori (Aura Might) has access to all of Toshinori’s memories. He is Toshinori Yagi within the vestige mindscape, one and the same, wholly Toshinori while being separate from the living body of Toshinori. Toshinori is already there. They are one and the same. And Flame Vestige Toshi can communicate with the other vestiges, so if there was something critical that Izuku needed to hear, the vestiges could pass that message along.
If anything, if Toshinori died and became a clearer image in the vestige mindscape, it would be a major distraction and an unspeakably devastating loss for Izuku—who, may I remind you, is fighting after seeing Bakugou pretty visibly dead-looking and losing control of his emotions immediately. Even ignoring that, what would Toshinori be able to add to Izuku’s knowledge or power that his Flame Vestige or the other vestiges haven’t already? What could he add to Izuku’s knowledge that he hasn’t already taught him in person? Nothing really. So! With that said, there would be no point in having Toshinori enter the One for All Mindscape.
Shigaraki is Izuku’s foil, his foe. From the beginning of the story, Izuku has been pitted against Shigaraki who is the final Big Bad. Izuku has also shared his desire to somehow reach and save the child—Tenko Shimura—that is trapped within the twisted person of Shigaraki-AfO.
This is his fight… but not his alone.
Save to Win. Win to Save. Izuku is one half. Bakugou completes the whole. Ultimately, the final fight—if we are to trust how things are foreshadowed so far—will be Shigaraki vs. Izuku and Bakugou.
Not only that, but they may finally do what is necessary to be whole themselves. Bakugou may Save to Win (i.e. he may save Izuku when things seem dire and turn the tide of the fight). Izuku may Win to Save (i.e. defeating this Shigaraki-AfO hybrid to save Tenko and everyone he knows).
Toshinori has already told them they could be great heroes together. This is their fight to prove it, together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whereas Toshinori doesn’t need to defeat All for One, he just has to stall…
We understand All for One is on a time limit. He is rapidly regressing/de-aging and will likely disappear given enough time. We also know that as he regresses, All for One’s emotions and mental focus are slipping out of his careful control. He was in a hurry to get to Shigaraki so that Shigaraki could take in the main body Quirk and All for One would then be able to live on and take complete control of the Shigaraki-AfO hybrid.
Tumblr media
Toshinori understands the absolute need to keep All for One from reaching Shigaraki (and also Izuku). Toshinori understands no power thus far has kept All for One from going where he likes. And even those in the control room attempting to coordinate the fighting and the evacuation of civilians understand that there is no one else who could stop All for One.
Tumblr media
Importantly, Toshinori understands All for One’s obsessive hatred for him. No powers necessary, Toshinori was able to stop All for One in his tracks by just being there. Toshinori’s presence alone was enough. The rest is stalling AfO until his time runs out.
Also, this fight is taking place at Kamino. Toshinori Yagi’s place of origin, the starting point of Toshinori post-All Might. You don’t fight there again, with that significant backstory, and lose. (I swear, I will cry if the chapter is Toshinori Yagi: Origin or Toshinori Yagi: Rising.)
This Toshinori is the fulfillment of him being himself. He is the “mighty ally” waiting to stop All for One. This man who has struggled with self-worth and the will to live post-Kamino, he calls himself mighty! Quirkless Toshinori faces the greatest threat of generations with a fierce grin and the confidence of one who will put his whole back into this fight. He will win—and AfO will lose—because he must.
Tumblr media
Aoimikans and my “Cost an Arm” Theory: Even though we believe Toshinori will not die and ultimately AfO will lose… we don’t necessarily think this will be a clean fight. Sir Nighteye predicted a terrible death, so what might he have seen leading up to it? Loss of limb, perhaps.
Toshinori will be in some kind of mech armor that AfO will probably need to—maybe after some badass fighting—tear apart. We’re fairly certain that given Horikoshi’s track record of heroes getting pretty gnarly bodily injuries, AfO is going to take one (or part) of Toshinori’s arms in the fight to get back at him for all the punching and smashing All Might did.
That and we know that information from Toshinori’s body/mind is fed into the vestige mindscape already via Flame Vestige Toshi. Perhaps Toshinori will lose the arm, the arm appears from the flame of Toshi’s vestige, distracting Izuku enough for a negative turn in the battle, which then leads to an opening for Bakugou’s reentry into the fight to turn it for the better. Drama! Suspense! Weeks between chapters with tense uncertainty!
Also, Horikoshi has a love of Star Wars and getting a limb cut off is just in vogue.
But don’t worry! If this does happen, Toshi will probably get a badass prosthetic like other similarly injured characters.
Also… just think of all the Hurt/Comfort fan-fiction that could stem from this… the possibilities…
Whereas Hero Killer: Stain is nearby and has a death wish…
In the same vein as the “Cost an Arm” Theory, a prolonged fight with All for One, regardless of how cool the mech armor is, will likely lead to Toshinori injured and appear to be at risk of a death blow. (There must be distress for the positive turn of the battle to be an amazing relief.)
Enter, Hero Killer: Stain who has been shown to be in an area resembling Kamino where Toshinori will be fighting.
Tumblr media
(Is that the Green Goblin flying thing Stain has?)
Stain can do two things that could alter the direction of the fight:
One, Stain’s Quirk only needs a single drop of blood to temporarily paralyze All for One, giving them much needed time to stall.
Two, Stain could very well take a death blow in Toshinori’s place. Stain has repeatedly said that All Might is the only one who is allowed to kill him… but he may just have to settle for dying for All Might instead. Given how Stain is the way he is, it isn’t difficult to imagine this playing out.
Whereas Toshinori revisits Izuku’s question from the very beginning…
In MHA 386, Toshinori remembers Izuku’s question from the very start of the series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Izuku at the start asks "個性がなくてもヒーローは出来ますか!?" "Kosei ga nakutemo hero wa dekimasu ka!?” “Even without a Quirk, can [I/someone without a quirk] be a hero?”
When Toshinori answered this question and offered Izuku the chance to earn One for All, he said “君はヒーローになれる" "Kimi wa hero ni nareru." “You can become a hero.”
Aoimikans pointed this out to me when reading the Japanese version. There is a difference in what both Izuku and Toshinori are saying. “Can be” is different from “become.”
Izuku was asking: Can a Quirkless person be a hero?
Toshinori’s original answer was essentially: No, but you can become a hero if you have this Quirk.
This is so, so very significant in the context of Toshinori’s final fight and thematically for the story as a whole. He is about to give Izuku the answer he was originally looking for: “Yes. Yes, you can be Quirkless and a hero.” Toshinori is personally trying to prove to Izuku that Quirkless people can be heroes.
Izuku was Quirkless, and was a hero from the moment his body moved on its own in chapter one. Toshinori is Quirkless now, and he is a hero.
What does that mean in the overarching world of MHA? If a Quirkless person can be a hero in a world where Quirks exist, anyone can be a hero. More on this in a bit…
Whereas Nighteye’s vision of a certain terrible death died with him and Izuku isn’t the only one who can twist fate…
In trying to get Toshinori to retire early after his first fight with AfO, Sir Nighteye blurted out that he had looked into Toshinori’s future and saw his terrible death at the hands of a villain. Toshinori and Nighteye both were convinced that what Nighteye sees is the hard truth—once it is seen, it is set in stone.
This idea is thoroughly challenged when Nighteye foresees his own and Izuku’s death during the fight with Overhaul, and yet Izuku does not die. Nighteye says that it may be possible that the will—the thoughts and beliefs—of so many people altered fate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nighteye’s vision of Izuku’s death was proved wrong, and in dying Nighteye took with him the certainty of his visions (and the ability to double check for a certain changed future). So, Toshinori’s own predicted terrible fate is not so certain anymore.
It’s important to note that Izuku doesn’t have to be the focal point of this bending of fate. It just takes the will of many people. Which leads to a possible prediction…
Whereas civilians did not all go underground to evacuate…
While there has been a good amount of focus given the civilians that took refuge with the help of U.A. and are currently in moving sections to evacuate the area, not everyone chose to follow that lead. Some have been seen to have hunkered down elsewhere in attempts to protect themselves. Not to mention all the civilians Izuku encountered during the Dark Deku arc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is the possibility that those civilians may get the message that or witness Toshinori fighting without his Quirk and decide collectively to step in and try to help. Their bodies may also move on their own and they may act heroically in this crucial moment. And, as mentioned above, it takes the will of many to change fate. All the heroes fighting, all the civilians evacuating, all the civilians possibly out there trying to weather this storm, those are the kind of numbers that could alter fate.
And Toshinori has physically checked in on them. He’s gone to the civilians in person after his encounter with Stain.
Tumblr media
Aoimikans would also like to mention that Naomasa Tsukauchi just yelled, “You’re Quirkless!!!” for the whole world to hear. It wasn’t just the internal radio. La Brava has been broadcasting the fights in Japan for the ENTIRE world to see. Not only will the civilians in Japan wish for Toshinori Yagi’s success, but people around the world are glued to their screens at this very moment watching what’s happening in Japan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This theory that civilians will perhaps provide the backup needed for Toshinori to succeed in prolonging the fight to stall AfO is not unrealistic... Well, Aizawa said it best.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What is more brazen and cocksure than Toshinori going out to fight All for One, alone, while Quirkless? Of course the civilians Toshinori met personally would be inspired to action by him.
Additionally, we have an additional theory as to how a crowd of civilians could help (beyond the hoping and wishing and and possibly watching on screens if someone is out there to record the fight) and it is connected to altered fate, the will of a person, how Quirks work, Quirkless people being heroes, and All for One’s current condition.
Whereas All for One has known motives and flaws…
What do we know about All for One?
We know he grew up idolizing the villain from his younger brother’s comic books, believing they would win despite him not reading to the end of the story. We know he was obsessive over keeping his brother to himself.
We know he grew in power and influence by using his Quirk to steal other Quirks and gave Quirks to those seeking power in exchange for their service. He bought loyalty when he could and dished out terror when he could not. We know he created mindless servants called Noumu with the doctor’s help.
We know he has been chasing the vestige of his brother and has killed the other holders of One for All in his pursuit.
All for One is an apt name for his Quirk and himself. He wants to take all things for himself and take revenge on those who get in his way: the previous One for All users, any person that betrays him like Nagant, and—most notably—All Might.
However, the All for One we are most familiar with is the 200+ year old man who has time and patience to spare, the All for One who plays the long game. That All for One no longer exists.
What do we know about the current All for One?
The current All for One is on a time limit. He is vicious and powerful, pushing the Quirks he has taken to their fullest power. He takes Quirks without hesitation when he can get a hand on someone, whether he needs them or not.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This All for One is impatient and acts without that same careful consideration of the All for One that played the long game. He is rushing to get to Shigaraki in order to save himself, and still he could not resist the pull of his anger, his hatred for All Might.
This All for One is not the rational thinking villain he was, and he cannot contain or fully control the Quirks in his body. Toshinori knows this, and this spells AfO’s doom.
Whereas understanding the nature of Quirks is critical to this fight…
Aoimikans and I love talking and theorizing about Quirks. Just take our ongoing fan-fiction with @toshinoumu. We only used what we knew was canon, expanded on those ideas, and ended up predicting the High End Noumu (years in advance), the Doctor’s involvement, and a number of facts about Quirks. Quirks are really cool to explore, and understanding how they work is crucial to understanding the overall story.
What are Quirks? Quirks are not just powers, they are a vital part of the person that has one. 個性 or “kosei” has a more literal translation than “Quirk.” 個性 “Kosei” translates to “individuality.”
Why is it significant that they aren’t just abilities or mutations? Quirks reflect the person and the person is often compelled by the kind of Quirk they have. The most prominent examples are those persons with Quirks that affect their actions in a negative way. Toga’s Quirk drives her desire to drink blood and become another person. La Brava’s Quirk requires her to love someone and to express that love in order to be used, which was detrimental to her relationships in her youth and critical for her partnership with Gentle.
Quirks can and have affected the thinking of the person who has them. It’s a little chicken-before-the-egg when it is the person’s own Quirk, but it is critical when we consider those given Quirks that either “don’t suit them” or when we look at the multi-Quirked Noumu.
Ill-suited Quirks. In the case of Quirks that don’t suit a person, let’s look at Aoyama and Shigaraki. Aoyama was Quirkless before AfO gave him the Navel Laser. His body was physically pained by the ill-fitting Quirk. That’s a physical drawback. How about mental? We have theorized since Tenko’s backstory was revealed that AfO was the man in the doorway and that he gave Tenko the Quirk Decay (and may have taken Air Walk from him, see previous meta post MHA: Fling Theory for the section on Tenko and the man in the doorway). The trauma of awakening Decay as well as the introduction of whatever mental influence having Decay, a Quirk that’s only use seems to be destroying, turned Tenko into Shigaraki, the villain that wants to destroy everything.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What’s up with Noumu? Noumu are the product of having multiple Quirks forced into one body. The mind becomes overwhelmed and the Noumu becomes an obeying puppet who acts according to the will of their master at the sound of their voice.
How being Quirkless makes a difference: In addition to what we know about Noumu, we know from the record of the previous users lives that One for All was difficult for the previous users to carry and live for very long—the longest lived being the 4th user who died of old age at 40, not an old age. The only users who were not as impacted in this way were Toshinori and Izuku who were Quirkless.
It’s clear that Quirks—particularly multiple Quirks—can negatively impact the wrong body, and it is more than physical. It’s mental and it’s in a way spiritual.
Quirks carry the spirit of the person, their dreams, and their will. That piece lives on and persists.
We know because of One for All that the will and spirit of the previous OfA users lives on with thoughts and wills of their own. We have seen the vestiges of not only the OfA users, but also the ghostly silhouettes of the Quirks within All for One and the parasitic All for One that is within and attached to Shigaraki. We have seen what happens when Shigaraki-AfO takes in a Quirk whose will challenges his own—Star’s Quirk revolted inside his mindscape and destroyed some of the Quirks within. We have seen AfO attack the Quirks’ ghostly vestiges that tried to stop him when he was fighting Jirou, Tokoyami, Dark Shadow, and Hawks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All for One even elaborated on his own experiences with the consciousnesses of those Quirks he stole and explained how OfA carried the consciousnesses of the users forward.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With that understanding, it isn’t hard to see how a Quirk like All for One could influence or match All for One’s desires and actions. He is driven to take Quirks. And given that AfO himself admits to be haunted by the consciousness from other people who can rebel against him, it makes sense that he has had to practice some kind of focus to keep himself from experiencing the drawbacks of having Quirks that rebel within him.
A mental focus, current All for One lacks.
Whereas All for One wrote himself out of the story chapters ago…
The All for One who played the long game gave himself one last tool to rewind his body to its prime, but it was one and done. One use, no going back. Yes, in using this card, he was able to grow more powerful with the knowledge he would disappear. No, I don’t believe he used it with a full understanding of what that would do to his mind.
In using this last ditch card, he wrote himself out of the story.
All for One is as self-serving as he always has been, but now he is being rash. He’s looking to reunite with Shigaraki-AfO to become one again before he really does disappear. As he regresses and de-ages, he is not in full rational control of his desires. He takes Quirks without needing to, he isn’t holding the Quirks he uses back, and when faced with Toshinori Yagi, he cannot help but stop regardless of his time limit.
Aoimikans and I have theorized for some time that AfO could be overwhelmed by Quirks he takes into himself. This could, if we are correct about a number of predictions, be a key factor in the coming fight.
Tumblr media
What would happen if he is stalled, short on time, not in control of his desires and acts irrationally, and his fight with Toshinori doesn’t go as well as he wants?
What would happen if a crowd of civilians acted with heroic impulse to help Toshinori? And what would happen if all those people shared a singular idea, a singular focus of will, to help save Toshinori and defeat All for One?
What would happen if All for One acted on an uncontrolled impulse and decided to take and take and take those Quirks from people who come to help Toshinori?
What would happen if his focus slips and the rebelling spirits of Quirks he stole—including Hawks’ spirit—fight back from within?
What happens when Toshinori proves a Quirkless person can be a hero? Could someone, or many people, become heroes by becoming Quirkless?
Could the man who takes everything for himself be defeated by Toshinori, the man who gave all of himself for the world, and all those who may give up a piece of themselves to help Toshinori?
Whereas I stop being so long winded and summarize…
This is the final fight between Toshinori and All for One. Toshinori is at the greatest height of his post-Kamino character arc—Quirkless, heroic, confident, and determined. All for One may be at his physical best, but he is at his mental weakest and doesn’t have long before his own actions rewind him out of existence. Toshinori only has to stall, and he will be successful in that endeavor—though may be injured in the process. Toshinori will possibly get some help from Stain since he is nearby and wants to die by All Might’s hands anyway, might have to settle for dying for him.
Toshinori will live because his character arc bends in that direction, no other outcome makes sense or would be a satisfactory ending. His death wouldn’t help Izuku, wouldn’t add to the story, and so cannot happen.
The pairs for the last big fights are coming together. The Todoroki family vs Dabi/Touya. Toshinori Yagi vs All for One. Izuku and Bakugou vs Shigaraki. And probably back to Toga and Uraraka at some point as well as Kurogiri, Mic, and Aizawa.
All for One’s current mental state puts him in an internal dilemma. He is not in full rational control of himself and therefore is ripe for rebellion from within! All the vestiges of Quirks stolen—past and present—could very well help to confuse/stall him during the fight with Toshinori. As they already have in his fight with Jirou, Tokoyami, and Hawks.
Citizens could also come to Toshinori’s aid and add their will to his, which could very well help alter Toshinori’s “terrible death” fate. Also, they could possibly become Quirkless if AfO lets his dark urges take control and takes their Quirks (which would only make his mental situation worse), and be heroes in that moment with Toshinori.
All for One will fall at Kamino. He will rewind and rewind…
We aren’t sure what happens to AfO if he reaches a child-like age. Will he be the same person, only less controlled? Or will we see a sad, childish side of All for One that just wants his brother back? If so, would Toshinori sit with this lost child until the end? Horikoshi has a tendency to show the child within the characters so far, it isn’t impossible AfO will get the same treatment.
Either way, everything supports the case for Toshinori Yagi living. We’ll see what comes next.
Thanks for reading! :3

ProHero taking custody of a reformed young villian
Tumblr media
[ PLATONIC HEADCANONS ] [ EraserHead, Fatgum, All might ]
[ My hero academia / Boku no hero academia ]
Tumblr media
Unofficial dads 😈 hehe
By young I mean their student's age
Tumblr media
Summary: After being captured for the heroes, they determinante that you are no longer a threat, and, for being so young, they put you in a reformation program under the watch of a ProHero
Tumblr media
Shota Aizawa (EraserHead)
Its not like he wanted this, but now he's trapped in this situation . He read the police report about you to know everything he need to know
Since the first moment he makes sure you understand that he is the autority and you're no free to do whatever you want
If you're the rebellious type this will annoy him for a while, becoming a constant fight with him. If you're more the quiet type then this going to be more easy, but will still be watching you. If you're more energetic he will treat you like a child
Soon you two form a dynamic to live together that work for you two, and with time you stop treating yourself as a ProHero and a ex-villian, now you start treating you like friends or even family
He's not exactly interested on heard your backstory, but if you want to share it he's open to listen. If you became a villian becouse you didn't have another option he will feel sympathy and will try to comfort you
If you show that you really want to change or even regret for what you did he will go more easy on you. Ones he notice that you're really changing he will be proud of you, also after this he will treat you different (no more wary and more like a parental figure)
We know probably some people won't be so accepting of your change, so if you have problems with others for this he will let you handle it, unless this truly affect you (like is making you feel depressed) or you're trying to solve it in violent ways (either fighting those people or letting them hurt you) he will step in
It would become a habit to eat together at least once at day and talk about your day (more like complaining)
Tumblr media
Toshinori Yagi (All Might)
When he gets the news of this mision he gets super nervous, he don't know if he will be able to take care of it
He will try and have a friendly approach when meeting you, he won't want to make you feel threatened or anything, you want to change, so he will give you a chance
If you're more the rebellious type he will gets even more nervous and will scold you in a serious manner. If you're more the quiet type he won't know how to treat you, but won't take him long to get used to
He always treat you with respect and like the young one you are!
If you show that you really want to change he will so happy and will encoure you to do so. If you feel regret about what you did as a villian he will comfort you! You're trying to change and do things better and thats what matter!
He's really interested in hearing your backstory, but won't ask you to tell him right away, he will wait all the time you need until you feel ready to tell him
If is the case that you became a villian because you didn't have another option he will feel so bad, Toshinori is a kind sould and storys like this sadden him a lot, especially seen how much affected your life (there are chances that he will even feel guilty for don't being able to help you back then)
It won't be difficult to warm up with Toshinori (even if you try to), so soon you two will ended up having a family dinamic to live together
After a while it will be noticeble the change in you, and Toshinori couldn't be more proud of you! He congratulates you and even offers to celebrate!
If you have relatives he will help you look for them if you want (unless they were abusive)
Tumblr media
Taishiro Toyomitsu (Fatgum)
If you're the rebellious type he wont mind too much, will just brush it off. If you're more the quiet type its fine with him. If you're more energetic then he will match your energy. But in neither case will he let you take advantage of it
He's convinced that you have a great potential to becoming an amazing person, so he will encoure you to try other things (more healthy and less illegal)
Taishiro always try to treat you as an equaly, as a civilian, never like a villain. He will always treat you in a friendly manner too, so won't take long to you to see him as a friend too, someone you can trust
Most of the time he ended up treating you like a child, he isn't trying to disrespect you or something, he just thinks you should live (and enjoy your life) as the kid you are. Truly Yours: A Defense of "Iron Might"
Tumblr media
"My dear, In the midst of hate, I found within me an invincible love. In the midst of tears, I found within me an invincible smile. In the midst of chaos, I found within me an invincible calm. I realized, through it all, that… In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better – pushing right back "
Disclaimer: The above quote is famously misattributed to Camus-- who seemingly only wrote the midst of winter/invincible summer portion of the original piece-- and the author of the expanded quote remains unknown. Nevertheless, it fits Toshi's character perfectly.
Iron Might remains a polarizing love-or-hate-it topic within the fandom, with many fans expressing their concerns that it ruins Toshinori's character/arc. It's no secret that I fall pretty firmly on the "love" side of camp-- and as is the case with all things I love, I can't love quietly or in moderation. So here's another really really really long post on all the reasons why I love it, and why I don't feel that this was character assassination in the slightest.
Breaking the key points down, I aim to discuss:
A) How Iron Might acts as a sort of resolution to Toshi's complex relationship with his body and injuries, and reconciles the divide between Toshinori's body and soul.
B) How Iron Might embodies MHA's definition of "love" and acts as a love letter to everything Toshinori wants to protect and everything he's ever wanted to protect. Iron Might is not meant to be read as a suicide mission, but as Toshinori weaponizing the joy of living as "Yagi Toshinori" and pitting the weight of his entire existence against AFO.
C) How Iron Might further cements MHA as "meta-fiction" through discussion of what being "quirkless" means on a narrative level + the dismantling of popular but overdone tropes that people have come to expect in comics. Toshi is also fighting for his right to exist in a battle manga against a toxic comic nerd who thinks that Toshi's role ended in Kamino and that he contributes more to the story by dying.
D) How Iron Might functions as a narrative device (i.e. It gets Toshinori to Izuku and Tomura). This is the battlefield where Toshi's character was always destined to end up because this is where all his unfinished business is at. Simple as!
"The body and mind are two halves of a whole" Iron Might as Toshinori coming to terms with his injuries and his body:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kicking things off with this point bc I feel like... understanding how Toshi's relationship and struggles with his own body have been a major part of his character arc is something that's, like, absolutely essential when it comes to getting an accurate read on what Iron Might means to Toshi's character. Iron Might ultimately functions as a reconciliation between Toshinori's wounded body and heroic soul, so it's a bit sad to see people repeatedly dismissing it as "ruining Toshinori's character arc" without ever taking Toshi's relationship with his own body into consideration. Like, this is not some "insignificant" part of his arc that's being prioritized over everything else:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A collection of very relevant panels! Side note: Tsukauchi fumbling the toshibowl so hard that Toshi's car seems like the better romantic choice in comparison will never stop being funny. Aiba ur the only person in that control room i respect btw.
For the longest time Toshinori has viewed his emaciated, ill body as something pathetic and shameful. His body was something he felt that he *had* to hide from the world, in order to maintain the illusion of being a hero who could never possibly succumb to evil. His injuries and the state of his body cleaved his identity/self-perception in two-- he begins the series treating his actual body as the "secret identity" instead of his authentic self. The story doesn't spoonfeed this to the readers because it expects its readers to have enough empathy to put two-and-two together on their own-- That Toshi doesn't simply struggle with the loss of OFA & "All Might/heroism" in the aftermath of Kamino, but also the loss of what he felt was his "true" body.
Toshinori is very easily read as someone who suffers from intense body dysmorphia-- and him forcibly changing himself back into his muscular form over and over again can also quite easily be read as Toshi attempting to cling to whatever time he has left with the body that doesn't make him feel like a stranger in his own skin. It's him holding onto the self he views as "actually him" for as long as he can.
Toshi's arc is something that resonates with a lot of people who have disabilities or suffer from dysphoria-- So it's frustrating when some fans decide to take the least gracious interpretation of his character and issues and run with it, instead attempting to frame Toshi as some washed up attention seeker who ~simply can't let go of his glory days~. Toshi's character has been hit with a lot of ableism both in-universe and out of it, with the fandom only really acknowledging that he's a disabled man when it conveniences them and otherwise disregarding how this aspect of him plays a major role in his arc.
Iron Might is built to specifically resemble Toshi's "ideal" body-- to the bitter cynics, this supports their idea that Toshi is unable to let go of "All Might" and hasn't learned to value himself or his life as Yagi Toshinori. To those who understand what Toshi's been going through and understand that his arc was never *just* about "living," though, it's a different story altogether. So much of Iron Might symbolizes Toshinori coming to terms with the fact that he is a disabled man, accepting that there was never anything shameful about this, accepting that it never needed to be "hidden away" for him to be a hero-- and ultimately, accepting that his body is 100% him and an undeniable aspect of what makes him a hero, no matter how injured.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Who's that skinny guy?" KID, LET ME TELL YOU A STORY.
There is a noticeable shift in Toshi's relationship with his body during Act 3-- We go from practically begging that Toshi's true form not be exposed to the public during Kamino, to Toshi encouraging that this fight be broadcast to the world. In the aftermath of Kamino and after losing the last embers of OFA, we still see Toshi forcibly shifting into his muscle form multiple times whenever he wants to "reassure" others, even though this process obviously hurts him:
Tumblr media
The implications behind this are obvious: Toshi is not coping with the loss of his body as well as he lets on, and all those implications finally come to a painful head during the dark hero arc.
During his meeting with Stain, Stain outright refuses to recognize Toshi's "Muscle form" as "All Might" and instead makes it clear that it was Toshi's heroic soul that earned him the right to call himself a "true hero"--and that this "soul" still exists in everyone Toshi has ever saved. It never went away. The embers of OFA might have vanished, but the flames of Toshi's own heroism remain all around him-- they keep him warm and allow him to keep shining.
Toshi begins to accept his own body for the first time after his meeting with Stain-- we see him starting to reassure his friends as his authentic self instead of scrambling to shift back into his muscle form. During his last stand against AFO, he boldly shows the world his injured back, and wordlessly asks that they still express their faith in it and feel protected by it. His injuries are a part of him and his lived reality, and they're part of what makes him a human.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"--Because a hero's back exists to reassure others!"
Toshinori's body itself is ultimately included among his blessings that he weaponizes against AFO: his bonds, his origin, and his body-- no matter how badly injured it may be-- are all what defines him as a hero. Even if his back is no longer "broad," it will always be something that reminds others that "he is here."
During this fight, Toshinori reconciles his fractured identity by finally embracing all the aspects of himself that he'd previously grown distant from. Reflecting on the life he's led as Yagi Toshinori-- the life he led before he ever became "All Might" and the life he led after receiving his injuries and losing OFA-- is what gives him the strength to laugh in AFO's face, and it's what causes the light to finally return to his eyes. In the midst of a battle between life and death, we witness Toshinori being reborn.
He fully embraces his humanity during this fight, and then weaponizes that humanity against AFO (and considering AFO's character/how AFO is constantly attempting to escape his own humanity... it's pr delightful to see him getting his shit wrecked by another "god" who fell to earth and was forced to live his as a mortal, but ultimately realized that he loved it).
The battle ends with "All Might's" iconic shading now being used for Toshi's true form-- symbolizing the reconciliation between Toshi's heroic soul and his wounded but nevertheless heroic body.
As an aside: I also feel the context surrounding Iron Might/Toshi's body touches on MHA's theme of "consent versus nonconsent" as something that separates true heroes from true villains (starting from AFO forcing a quirk on Yoichi, cumulating with Toshi offering Izuku OFA and later making it clear that the quirk requires Izuku's explicit consent to be passed on-- OFA being born from an act of utter violation and then turned into something that explicitly requires consent always been one of my favorite aspects of MHA's lore, but I digress). During Kamino, AFO forcibly exposed Toshi's body to the world in an effort to completely humiliate him and destroy the public's image of him. Now, Toshi taking his power back and exposing his true form to the world entirely on his own terms.
"All that I've been blessed with will bear its weight against you!"-- or, Iron Might as a love letter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've talked on this point a lot bc it's what enamored me immediately with this fight (which is really about the depth of Toshinori's love and the love others have for him and his willingness to BE loved by others -versus- a man who takes advantage of the love others have for him and is utterly unable to leave his fragile heart at the mercy of others out of fear of ppl perceiving him), so I'll try to keep it brief:
Iron Might embodies the essence of how MHA defines love (love is admiration, love is imitation, love is seeing/watching, etc) while also acting as Toshinori's love letter to everything he wants to protect (himself and his life as "Yagi Toshinori" included). It also embodies the essence of how MHA defines true heroism (those who have been blessed should use their blessings for those who have not been blessed, those who can still act must act, etc etc etc ).
Toshi would not have been able to pull off Class 1A's moves or found the best way to integrate them into a cohesive fighting style without love as imitation/watching/admiration. (again, versus AFO, who at this point just randomly fires off powerful quirks without any actual respect for how the quirks work or how they can support each other, & who doesn't admire his own student beyond his capacity for rage).
This battle is a celebration of the bonds Toshi has allowed himself to form. It's him using everything he's ever been given and everything he's ever been blessed with to fight against a man who only knows how to take things away. Toshi has learned that OFA was never what made him a hero, that he can live without OFA-- and he's pitting the weight of that life against a man who is convinced that OFA is everything, who can't move on from it, and who has built his entire existence around getting it back. AFO wins the physical battle, sure, but Toshi remains the clear winner in the war of existences.
Tumblr media
"This story is still being written, Toshinori."
Another aside: Names are everything in MHA, and that's especially true in the final act. MHA treats names like incantations, and “Do your best, Toshinori!” is the magic spell Toshi is using to motivate himself. Hori frequently uses how a person chooses to refer to themselves during key scenes as a way of emphasizing a person's mental state. From this, we can deduce that Toshi doesn't view this fight as All Might vs. AFO-- he views this fight as Toshinori vs. AFO.
Tumblr media
Toshinori has weaponized his blessings and bonds and is now hitting back at AFO with the full weight of his complete existence. In this fight, he carves the joy of living-- of being Yagi Toshinori-- into AFO's barren, empty soul. Every scene he flashes back to is a scene of the life he has lived as Toshinori, not as All Might. This fight, just like the rest of the war, is all about "love" in all its various forms. AFO's abuse of love (both of his own deeply hidden love and of the love others have for him) is why he cannot win in a war where love is the essential element-- love is what keeps motivating everyone in this war to keep getting up, to keep struggling, to keep reaching out, etc etc etc.
Moving on.
"I'm quirkless. Born without a role." or, Iron Might as an act of defiance against both the narrative and the expectations of the 'battle manga' genre.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MHA being an example of stealth meta-fiction is something I've talked about before, particularly so with these two posts (plus... basically any post about our favorite cringefail LARPer, AFO).
Horikoshi takes full advantage of the medium/the fact that MHA is a manga and uses every tool that's available to both tell and enhance the story, and these chapters have cemented him as someone who has mastered his craft-- The decision to draw Toshi's true self with thick/bold lines after his armor breaks, the dark shadows finally leaving his eyes, Toshi consistently referring to himself by his own name instead of his hero name, the chapter titles, the backgrounds, etc etc etc all of it. Absolutely everything has meaning.
Through Iron Might, we once again delve into how the series chooses to define "quirklessness"-- the idea that quirklessness is meant to be a disability allegory gets more or less debunked (thankfully, since MHA already has a fairly good track record with depicting ACTUAL mental and physical illnesses/disabilities), with the narrative instead framing the possession of a quirk as something that determines what "role" a person gets in life. The implication being that not having a quirk means you don't get a role, period. You don't get to shine brightly on stage, you don't even get to be an "extra." This fits into the previously established idea that society's biases against "villainous quirks" basically railroad a lot of people onto the path of villainy (plus, the treatment of heroes/villains as fictional characters by the masses instead of viewing them as actual people). But, quirks are just quirks-- they're neither good or evil, and they aren't what determine whether a person is a hero or a villain. And as such, having or not having a quirk isn't what determines whether or not someone is truly a hero.
Toshinori is now defying the narrative that states that not having a quirk means you don't get a role. At the same time, he stands up against AFO-- our resident toxic comic book fanboy who sincerely believes Toshi should have picked Kamino as the best time to "bow out" (read: die) as a character-- who spews all sorts of vile things about the state of Toshi's body and how this is the primary reason why Toshi has no place in the story. The satire practically writes itself.
Tumblr media
Like so many other characters, Toshinori uses the "role" of All Might as a coping mechanism for much of the series. As already stated, there is a disconnect between Toshinori's body and his soul--Toshi begins to use All Might as a mask to hide his feelings, his fears, and his humanity from the rest of the world. The series draws attention to the fact that the people forgot about the heart and soul--that is, the person-- behind All Might and started treating him like a character instead of a real person, and it's made clear that Toshinori forgot, too.
AFO is still trying to hide his true self in the role of the demon king, but Toshinori is no longer trying to hide himself behind All Might. AFO thinks Toshinori should have died in Kamino because that's where his "role" as a "character" ended, but Toshinori refuses that end. Both men find their origins in fiction (AFO from captain hero, Toshinori from Anpanman) but only Toshi has managed to reconcile his identity, break free of the story, and meet AFO head on as a human instead of a character. AFO is still hiding and refusing to engage with this story as a real person.
Tumblr media
Toshi's overshadowed eyes are also heavily implied to be a side effect of him completely losing himself in the role of "All Might," rather than merely being the result of the injury he got from AFO-- we see that his eyes were already overshadowed long before he ever received his fateful injury, and the emphasis on shadowed eyes is also a design quirk that ties him to AFO (whose eyes were constantly hidden by shadows bc he was constantly LARPing as a demon lord instead of being authentic-- To drive this bit of visual story telling home, Hori emphasizes AFO's eyes whenever the "demon king" mask starts to slip and we start seeing peeks of what an utter sad sap of a person AFO is beneath the mask). It's a clever bit of show-don't-tell and another testament to Hori's art direction. Eyes are forever the window to the heart and soul in MHA, and Toshi reconnecting with his heart and soul-- with what defines him as a person-- is what finally causes the light to return to his eyes. The mask is fully off.
"Midoriya Izuku and Yagi Toshinori ~ Midoriya Izuku and Shigaraki Tomura ~ Shigaraki Tomura and....?"-- Or, Iron Might as a Narrative Tool.
(reminds u that the pivotal/trajectory changing chapters known as 304 and 305 were titled "Midoriya Izuku and Yagi Toshinori" and "Midoriya Izuku and Tomura Shigaraki". These three are the key!)
Changing gears for a sec and speaking purely from a writer's perspective: Iron Might simply couldn't have been included at Gunga and Toshi simply couldn't have remained locked up in a surveillance room for the entirety of the final battle-- because Toshinori's final destination as a character was always supposed to be the Izuku and Tomura fight. That's where his role as a character was always supposed to reach fruition and find his resolution:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"--I want to save that little boy!"
Aura!Might shedding tears when he realizes that Izuku wants to save Tomura and that Izuku has redefined OFA as something that exists to save is one of those underrated character moments that deserves more attention, because it's like. Everything. One of the most important scenes in the series by a large margin.
Izuku's declaration tells us everything we need to know about the trajectory of the series. Aura!Might crying in response to that declaration gives us everything we need to anticipate where his character is heading and to understand why Toshi's arc isn't over until he finally reconciles his business/regrets with Tomura & OFA/Nana.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's heavily implied that real!Toshi was crying, too, after he felt what vestige!Izuku said. His eyes are hidden, but we see him briefly wiping his tears away. (and this is one of the many things I love about MHA-- there are so many lovely little details that add so much to the story. You just gotta be willing to look for them.)
Anyway! This point really speaks for itself, so I won't get into it too much: Tomura/Izuku's battlefield is where Toshi was always supposed to end up-- it's where he obviously needs to be to wrap up the loose strings in his arc, hear Izuku's "I am here" moment, and "change fate" by Izuku's side (not necessarily just his own fate, but also Tomura's). Iron Might is just a way that gets Toshi from point A to Point B while allowing Toshinori's character to shine as brightly as possible.
TL;DR The stage is finally set, the main characters have finally assembled, and now we get to see how the grand finale plays out.
-- -- -- -- --
In summation: Iron Might is sappy, sentimental, and fueled entirely by heart rather than logic-- and it's everything I love about this series.

Gravity Falls Thoughts: Ford and Trauma™ Part 2 (Forced Insomnia)
Annnnnd here we are with Part 2 of Ford and Trauma™!
Last time, we tackled the likelihood of Ford living off of pills and coffee over the last 30 years. So, what’s the logical next part?
Perhaps one of the most popular Ford ships out there!
Ford x Sleeeeep!!!!
Tumblr media
Or…his problems with it. Let’s go with that.
If Gravity Falls went a bit longer (like if it had 3 seasons), this could have been a running gag of sorts for Ford, his lack of sleep or at least the repercussions of said lack of sleep, such as him dozing off in weird places.
And you can blame a certain dream demon for that.
Tumblr media
Not long after Ford learns of Bill’s true colors, Ford did anything he could to prevent Bill from having any control of the situation…that includes depriving himself of sleep due to his deal with Bill.
…Yeah…um…there is a glaring issue on that plan, I must say. And that is the fact that depriving yourself of sleep…will not be beneficial in the long run.
According to Healthline, there are 5 Sleep Deprivation Stages, each stage is determined by the many hours of no sleep.
Stage 01 is after 24 hours of no sleep. A personal fact here, y’all: I’ve done this before twice in my life, staying up for about 24 hours…it was not fun both times.
While not necessarily a cause for major problems, there will be some issues, such as decreased alertness, drowsiness, fatigue, increased risks of mistakes…
Stage 02, after 36 hours (A day and a half), and you’ll start experiencing severe cognitive impairment. Not to mention an overwhelming desire for sleep and the likelihood of having microsleeps (short bouts of sleep that lasts for about 30 secs) is possible.
Come Stage 03 (after 48 hours) and hoooo…boy, things aren’t lookin’ good at all! This is where hallucinations can start setting in. Which, in Ford’s paranoid case, is a definite cause for concern. And there’s depersonalization, anxiety, heightened stress levels, increased irritability, and extreme fatigue. Microsleeps becomes more of a guarantee. And you won't realize it.
At Stage 04 (after 72 hours), along with more frequent and longer microsleeps, the hallucinations could get more complex.
Then finally, at Stage 05 (after 96 hours and more), you’ll start to experience a little thing called sleep deprivation psychosis, when your perception of reality is severely distorted due to lack of sleep.
So…not much of a shock to see this…
Tumblr media
And we don’t even know how long Ford had been trying to keep himself awake. Even Journal 3 (I have the regular edition) doesn’t provide the answer for this except for the mad scrawlings of CAN’T SLEEP and the hellish amount of coffee he drank.
This can also explain his insistence on preserving his journals instead of just destroying them. He’s not thinking clearly due to lack of sleep.
It is possible to recover from this, though, it will take a while.
It can take days or weeks to recover from a bout of sleep deprivation. Just 1 hour of sleep loss requires 4 days to recover. The longer you’ve been awake, the longer it will take to get back on track.
And considering that Ford got sucked into the Portal before he could have a moment for well deserved rest…kind of a similar situation to his crap diet while on the run, how often was Ford able to get a full night's rest? I mean...look how he sleeps now, in day wear with his coat, glasses, and boots on, like he has to be prepared to book it...
It’s honestly a wonder that Ford came back to our dimension without sporting some eyebags that would give Shouta Aizawa (or even Toshinori Yagi) a run for his money.
…Question: So, Bill had free reign of entering Ford’s mind when he sleeps, right? Did Bill still do that during Ford’s travels up until he got that plate installed?
...So, what should I talk about next? The bullying Ford had to endure? Father of the Year, Filbrick Pines? Possible complex PTSD? Major Guilt? Wounds and potential complications? Bill -fucking- Cipher and the abuse?

The Method (BNHA)
Summary: Izuku requests to see All For One after he's arrested. He'd never said why, but All Might never, ever would've assumed it was for this.
Or: All For One is Hisashi Midoriya. Izuku has a few things to say to him.
Tags: Dad For One, Izuku Midoriya, BNHA

Third person pov
"Are you sure you want to do this, my boy?" Toshinori Yagi wasn't the best teacher in the world, he knew. He'd made for a decent Symbol of Peace, and had done his best to uphold the people's spirits. He just… couldn't help but feel he'd failed his charge.
He'd defeated All For One, but at the price of his strength. He was now nothing more than a gangly shadow of the hero he once was, emancipated and weak. Izuku was on the fast track to filling the gargantuan shoes he'd left behind. While he didn't doubt the freckled boy could do it, it was a lot of pressure to put on a teenage boy.
Izuku gave a smile. It was small, and bordering on sad. There was something he wasn't saying. Toshinori didn't want to push. He knew this was a trying time for Izuku. It was a trying time for most of Japan, but especially for the curly-haired boy. Now that All Might was retired and out of the picture, eyes were falling upon the next generation of heroes.
With Izuku wielding One For All and taking on the challenge of becoming the Number One Hero, the entire world was watching and waiting for him to slip up. To show some sign of weakness. It was a terrible weight for a child to bear.
"I'm sure." Izuku said firmly, looking Toshinori in the eyes, and then Tsukauchi.
You see, while All For One had been defeated, he was far from dead. He was being kept in a high security facility free of any other criminals. It was a place built just for him, filled to the brim with trained guards and pro heroes, ready to strike when needed. Kept in a straight jacket at all times, locked in a windowless room with automated machine guns pointed at him that would fire off and take his life at the slightest hint of movement, it was safe to say All For One wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Why Izuku was so intent on visiting him, nobody knew. That’s not to say they hadn’t asked, of course.
When he'd first approached Toshinori about it, timid, unsure, and very clearly nervous, it had been a hard no. All For One was the height of all evil. There was no way on God's green earth Toshinori was letting his precious successor anywhere near such a monster. All For One had lived longer than any man should, and had accumulated vast amounts of knowledge and refined his ability to manipulate just about anyone who dared show the slightest bit of weakness in his presence.
That should have been the end of it, but Izuku had come back just a day later with the same request. This time he'd seemed more intent on it, more sure of himself. Toshinori had still given him the same answer. An uneasy yet firm 'no' that was full of questions that he received no answers to.
He'd dwelt and dwelt on why Izuku may want to visit a mass-murdering immortal without a moral compass or any value for human life. He'd come up dry. There was simply no plausible explanation. Why would Izuku want anything to do with that man, knowing what he was and all he’d done?
The third time Izuku asked, he reluctantly agreed to talk to Tsukauchi. He was the most trusted detective on the police force and had never failed to rally with Toshinori and UA High. He was on their side, and working closely in the All For One case. He was one of the few they could count on. The man was earnest, and someone Toshinori considered a close friend.
Going to the man for advice was a no-brainer. Toshinori felt out of his depth, torn between possibly alienating his successor by denying his request versus letting Izuku be exposed to one of the world’s most vile evils.
Tsukauchi had admitted that a meeting between All For One and Izuku would be possible. Tsukauchi and All Might had pretty much full control of what happened to the man and where he went. Japan's Hero association had no idea what to do with the old cryptid. Toshinori was the one who knew his abilities and history the best, so they hadn't hesitated to throw the issue at him.
So long as All For One didn't kill anyone else, they were willing to let All Might do just about anything with the old fart, barring releasing him and unruly things of that sort. Though they probably hadn’t assumed All Might would ever be considering taking an up and coming hero, a child, to see him.
Izuku had asked a fourth time, and Toshinori had finally point-blank asked why. Izuku's response was nothing short of evasive. He'd simply insisted that it was something he had to do without giving any reasons as to why. Toshinori had wanted to say no again, but the look in the young boy's eyes...
He was all but begging for trust, his eyes alight with hope and determination. He wasn't lying when he said this was something he needed to do. You could tell that just by looking at him. Why it was something he needed to do was what had Toshinori stumped.
So here they were, at a building in the middle of nowhere that looked more like a block of concrete than a regular structure. It was surrounded by tall walls that arched overhead, nearly forming a dome, but stopping just short of doing so. Cementoss and several other pros had worked together to make this place as secure as possible.
Now, it crawled with trustworthy men and women who wouldn't hesitate to do what was needed were All For One try to stage a breakout. The man was too weak right now to do anything, but… well, being overly cautious never hurt anyone. Who knew what he was capable of.
"We'll just be in the next room over observing on the monitors, Midoriya. Shout if you need something. We'll get you out of there pronto." Tsukauchi gave a reassuring grin that made Izuku look a little less like he was marching off to his death. The boy looked like he was dreading this, and yet he was doing it anyway.
Toshinori didn't get it. There was something he didn't understand. Izuku had pushed for this, but he knew his successor. He looked absolutely terrified.
"He's right. We'll be right in here." Toshinori also smiled. Izuku nodded firmly back, face set into an expression that was grim yet sure. Tsukauchi sipped at his coffee as he watched the curly-haired boy march out of the room and to the heavily guarded door to be let in. The ID card he was holding as well as the fact that everyone had been told in advance that they'd be coming allowed him instant access.
Toshinori steeled himself, settling down in one of the rolling chairs tensely. Tsukauchi took the one next to him, grimacing at the screen as the electronic door opened. Toshinori didn’t think All For One would try anything-- he never would’ve let Izuku come within ten miles of this place if he thought the man might. He was still just… uneasy.
All For One was a stubborn man. He'd been grinning since he got here, for one thing. The coy smile hadn't faltered even once. Toshinori had gone in to talk to him, along with Tsukauchi and a few others, but it was to no avail. He'd said a total of two things since he got here. Two things, and no more than that.
A part of Toshinori was glad, and hoping maybe that meant he wouldn't talk to Izuku. He knew that was just wishful thinking. All For One knew exactly who Izuku Midoriya was. Toshinori didn't doubt the man had some form of sight that allowed him to identify people. Even with the copious amount of quirk restraints on his person, he'd immediately coined Toshinori when he came in, as well as Tsukauchi. Those had been the two times he spoke.
He wouldn’t miss a chance to mess with Young Midoriya. Toshinori anxiously tapped his foot, throat feeling uncharacteristically tight and heart thumping hard in his chest. It would be fine. Young Midoriya was strong-- far stronger than Toshinori was at his age. All For One was just… a different sort of beast, that’s all.
Sitting next to him, Tsukauchi could tell his blonde friend was nervous. His shoulders were stiff and hunched, and the tension hanging around him was so thick you could cut it with a knife. The detective couldn't blame him. He too had tried asking Izuku why he wanted to see All For One, and Izuku had responded with a very intent, "It's just something I need to do."
Tsukauchi's quirk, Human Lie Detector, had registered that firm statement as the truth. Which was perhaps the most jarring part of this all. Whatever this was, Izuku well and truly believed he had to go through with it.
They watched Izuku hesitantly step into the room. A pane of bullet proof glass was the only thing separating him from the world's greatest villain. The door shut and locked behind him with a loud bang and click that caused him to jolt forward. Toshinori could see his student's adam's apple bobbing precariously as he shuffled to the single chair bolted to the floor, frowning deeply and fiddling his thumbs.
He reluctantly sat down, and that's when it happened.
All For One's grin absolutely dropped . For the first time since becoming imprisoned here, his expression melted into something else entirely. Tsukauchi and Toshinori had both leaned closer to the monitor, expecting his new expression to be one of malice or hate. Perhaps annoyance, or some sort of twisted amusement.
But no… no, it was the opposite . It caused both men to pause and stare dumbly as All For One's mangled face morphed into one full of disbelief and apparent horror, maybe even fear. The look was out of place on a man like him.
His already pale skin got paler, and he tensed, leaning back as far as he could. Izuku simply stared at him with wobbling lips and teary eyes, hands clasped together so tightly his knuckles were white. You could see the raw disapproval on Izuku's face.
Not fear, not anger, but disappointment instead. Toshinori and Naomasa both shared a look, the detective bringing his drink to his lips and taking a long gulp. He was going to need something a little stronger depending on how this meeting went.
"...What are you doing here?" All For One breathed out the third ever thing he'd ever said in this accursed place, so quietly the cameras almost didn’t pick it up. The skin around his scarred over eye sockets stretched, and if he had eyes still, Toshinori was sure they'd be wide as saucers.
His voice sounded so distant, so shocked and disbelieving. It caused Toshinori's teeth to clench and his eyes to narrow. Tsukauchi checked for a third time to make sure this was all being recorded, bringing up his coffee for another swig.
The smile Izuku gave was watery and nothing short of absolutely heartbreaking.
"Hey, dad." The freckled boy choked out. The reaction was instantaneous.
Blood sprayed from Toshinori's mouth like water from a broken faucet, sunken eyes wide and jaw dropped as the scarlet liquid began to drip down his jaw. Tsukauchi had been mid swallow as Izuku dropped that cataclysmic statement, resulting in his drink going down the wrong pipe. He began to choke, his eyes just as wide as his friend's as he wheezed and thumped his fist against his chest.
"Izuku..." All For One trailed off, voice broken and sounding horrifyingly human.
"When I first heard your voice at Kamino, I thought I was hallucinating." Izuku's voice was quiet but level. "It was a voice I heard every Friday for years upon years. You never failed to call, dad. And I never failed to pick up. I haven't seen you in so long, and it makes sense now, I guess."
The nerves from before were gone. Izuku spoke with certainty that showed he’d thought long and hard about exactly what he wanted to say, and exactly how he wanted to say it. There was a steel resolve in the clench of his jaw and the draw of his brows.
"Izuku, I-" All For One was cut off before he got the chance to continue. The taste of blood stayed strong in Toshinori’s mouth.
"You weren't on a business trip in America." Izuku grit his teeth, his tears falling. These were not the type he tended to burst out with, where he practically dehydrated himself with the force of his wailing. These were silent and far, far more tragic, dripping slow and salty down his face.
All For One flinched as though he'd been struck. Toshinori, with his mouth still agape, realized he'd never seen the man look so vulnerable. He wouldn't have thought it possible if he weren't here witnessing it at this very moment. Next to him, Tsukauchi sucked in a few breaths of deep air, still hacking so hard he was surprised a lung didn't come up.
"...No, no I wasn't." All For One whispered. Izuku bowed his head.
"You got hurt. By All Might." Izuku clenched his fists. His voice waned with the force of his emotion. "A-And... you knew I was his successor. And that night, at Kamino, you-"
"I would never hurt you, Izuku." All For One's voice was steadier now, but only slightly. "I would never hurt you."
It was a sour promise. Izuku seemed to think so too, if the way his breath and shoulders hitched was anything to go off of.
"But you have!" Izuku protested wildly, eyes wide and flashing with warning. "Don't you get it?! You left mom and I! I was bullied my whole life, quirkless, beat down! And then, you tried to take away the one person who came along and told me I could do it?! You tried to take away the person who's been taking more care of me over the past year than you ever have?!"
All For One's face was riddled heavy with guilt, and with bits of anger. Not at Izuku, no, he could never be mad at his son. Maybe the rage was for himself, or perhaps it was better aimed at those bullies Izuku spoke of. Maybe at Toshinori for swooping in and being Izuku's saving grace.
That damned man didn't know when to quit, and... All For One was almost glad for that, because his son was here, strong-willed, ready to fight, not afraid to confront him. And it sure wasn’t All For One who’d helped him grow to be that way.
All For One had made a great many mistakes in his long lifetime, but falling in love was not one of them. Some might argue that a man like him wasn't capable of such a thing, and he never would have begged to differ. Not until he ran into Inko Sakiaki, that is.
She was witty and clever, with the biggest green doe-eyes and the most beautiful, earthen hair. She'd looked him right in the eyes and seen right past that polite and unassuming facade he presented carefully to the world. And she’d smiled at him anyway.
Inko was... enrapturing. She was sweet, kind, and caring in ways he never would be. Everything heroes were meant to be, but weren't in his eyes. So he'd fallen in love, and he'd asked her to marry him, and... that's what happened. Simple as that.
For the first time in a long time, he was once again Hiashi Midoriya instead of All For One. A man capable of loving and caring, of making jokes and ruining the kitchen, of breaking a vacuum cleaner and rolling his eyes at mundane TV shows. For a while, he was simply human. It was possibly the best, brightest time of his life, and he’s not afraid to admit such.
Izuku was born shortly after they were wed. He was the most perfect thing Hiashi had ever seen. He'd inherited Hiashi's wild, curly hair. Fondly, even now that he was blind, he could recall Izuku's freckles, so similar to those of his uncle's. He was such a brilliant little boy, so smart and ready to help.
He had the heart of a hero, just as his uncle had held all those years ago. Izuku was something to be cherished. He was something to be loved. He was someone that All For One had wanted to give the world.
But it was all ripped away when All Might and him fought. Perhaps anger had driven him to this point. He'd been sour, wanting desperately for his son and wife, but knowing he'd only scare them with his deformed face and growing bitterness.
Hiashi once again became All For One, burying himself in his work. It was the easiest thing in the world to slip back into the role. He was going to kill All Might if it was the last thing he did, he’d decided. He created Nomu's, got a hold of Nana Shimura's grandson and begun to groom him. He put together a league that would be the Symbol of Peace's end.
He was All For One, the greatest villain in the world.
Except on Friday's, between the hours of five to eight PM.
During that time, he was Hiashi Midoriya again. His phone calls with his son and wife were a great escape. He'd pretend he was just fine, not at all injured or damaged or evil down to his bones. He'd talk about the weather in America and tell them how much he missed them and wished they were there.
He'd cheer Izuku on, because if his son wanted to become a hero, then Hiashi was sure he'd be the best one to ever walk the planet. While him inheriting Toshinori's power was a cruel twist of fate, there was no better person to wield a power once belonging to his younger brother. If anyone deserved it, it was Izuku.
How it had all gone so wrong, he wasn’t sure. He just knew it was his fault. He’d always tried to be a good father, but men like All For One weren’t made for it. He wasn’t built to care for others. Something in him was broken, and try as he might, he knew… he knew hurting those he dared to love was a horrific inevitability.
"I'm... I'm sorry, Izuku." All For One murmured. Izuku bit the inside of his cheek. Anger pierced its way up through him, intermingling with his sorrow starkly.
All For One was a horrible person, he’d thought. Someone Izuku had grown to loathe during his time as All Might's apprentice. Tales of all the vile things he'd done and all the suffering he'd caused were sparse, but always gruesome when All Might did dare to murmur them. They painted a horrifying picture of a ruthless man incapable of love.
It was easy to hate All For One when he wasn’t a person. When he was just a story, just a faceless figure that Izuku had never seen, had never met. It was easier to hate someone you didn’t know, and All For One was the worst of the worst. He had hurt thousands, would continue to hurt them, and Izuku… Izuku had thought him the most monstrous being in the world for all he’d done.
The moment Izuku heard his voice, that image fell to pieces and crumbled on the ground.
It didn't take him long to connect the dots, and he was devastated once he did. He'd been so lost and conflicted in the aftermath. All For One and Hiashi Midoriya were the same person . It just barely managed to click in his mind, and when it did, Izuku had been left clueless as to what to do.
How could someone who cheered him on as a hero, told him how much he loved him, and teased him mercilessly about things that had little to no significance in the grand scheme of things-- playfully, for the fun of it-- also be the world's greatest villain?
He could still recall his father's warm eyes alight with fondness as he told Izuku a bedtime story. The way he'd feel so, so tall when his dad put him on his shoulders. The man's reassurances over the phone that even without a quirk, he could be an amazing hero. That he’d be proud of him no matter what.
He'd been near tears when Izuku announced he was into UA, and a mixture of worried and angry when he found out the USJ had been attacked. There was no way that was all a lie, right? It couldn't be. Was his father nothing more than a fake construct meant to mess with him? Was he... Was Izuku a puppet?
"You took away my hero." Izuku grit out, wiping furiously at his eyes. His father's face hardened.
"All Might is still alive. You're... carrying on his will, I believe. As much as it pains me." All For One sighed. "But I will always love you and cheer you on, Izuku. You're my son. Nothing will ever change that."
Izuku felt sick. He felt relieved. He felt angry and upset and he felt yearning. He felt devastation and a pervading coldness that had been crawling up his spine ever since he finally learned just who his father was. He felt too many things at once to possibly name.
"Not him." Izuku whispered. "Not All Might. He’s my favorite hero, but he wasn't my hero, dad. You were."
Toshinori was frozen. Tsukauchi held his breath, trying to get over his shock.
All For One seemed to dissolve at those words, what was left of his face twisting with horror as Izuku stood up. He lurched forward in his restraints, earning a warning beep in response as his son gathered himself. Izuku gathered the scraps of his composure with shaking hands and tear-stained cheeks.
Everything All For One was as a villain melted away at those two, simple words. Ones All Might and Tsukauchi never would have guessed would affect him so drastically. But he looked horrified. Guilty. Like he couldn't believe what he'd done. There was... regret .
It didn't make up for anything.
All For One felt his chest ache, and suddenly, he realized just what this was. Because he wasn't All For One right now. He had never been, in Izuku’s eyes.
Right now, he was Hiashi Midoriya, and he'd hurt his son.

Two months ago: The day the outbreak started
Class 3-A shook as the news on the tv displayed had gotten to them. Some silently cried while others boarded up the windows and doors, and others repeatedly told themselves that this isn't real, this is all a dream. Cass 3-A was days away from graduating, they only had a week left.
Some were going to college out of state, and some planned on working, but it seemed the world had different plans for them.
"Barricade the doors with couches, chairs, tables, anything!" Shota Aizawa, their teacher, demanded his students as he was busy piling up chairs near the window. Over a little while ago, Denki Kaminari had came into the dorms with bloody clothes and a panicked, frightened look.
The students had asked him what was wrong and what's going on but Denki had only replied with a shaky voice, "I don't know, people are just ea–eating each other."
Ochaco Uraraka, Mina Ashido and Momo Yaoyorozu tried to comfort him, but he was shaking badly and kept repeating Minoru Mineta names. It was a hunch, but the blood on Denki’s clothes belonged to Minoru.
While Denki was in the corner freaking out, Shota grabbed his phone from the pocket as it kept ringing. Seeing it, he received a notification from Toshinori Yagi and his friend Hizashi Yamada. The message had said to report to the highschool and to not let any students follow him.
Although he was a bit reluctant to leave his students, he imagined that there were other students trapped at the school and needed help. So he turned to the student and tried to remain calm, "I need you all to listen. I need you all to stay here till this is over. I imagine a rescue team will come, so until then stay here and be safe."
Ochaco stood from her spot and looked to Shota with a worried look, "Where will you be going?"
"There's other students that need help, staff as well." Shota pointed to Katsuki Bakugo and Izuku Midoriya, "You two will be in charge. Do not let anyone out or anyone in, got that?"
Izuku shook his head, "You can't leave, it's dangerous. We don't know what's out there!"
Katsuki walked over to his teacher, "I'll go with you. You'll need help!"
"No!" Shota shouted, he then rubbed his face and whispered to them as to not let the others hear, "The worst case that happens is I don't come back. So I need you two to keep everything calm."
With a solemn look he continued, "I know it's gonna be hard, but I can see that you guys are leaders, you can handle this. This class will fall apart without you. So please, keep everyone and you two safe."
The two males nodded and watched as Shota left the building. Katsuki quickly ordered Eijiro Kirishima, Tenya Iida, and Mashirao Ojiro to barricade the door. Izuku ordered Tsuyu Asui, Yuga Aoyama, Mezo Shoji, and Kyoka Jiro to gather supplies from the dorm and bring it to the living room as tonight they all planned to sleep here to watch over each other.
But as he did so he saw his other classmates with terrified faces and couldn't bear to see them look so sad. To ignore his thoughts he ordered the rest of the class that weren't doing anything; Fumikage Tokoyami, Toru Hagakure, Koji Koda, and Rikido Sato to try and contact the police or a rescue team.
"Oh, my." Izuku heard Ochaco say, "You guys, look."
He looked to where Ochaco was looking, it was the news. Izuku heard gasps as the news had said that everything was being closed down meaning there was no way to leave and every other channel said the same thing. It also showed burned down buildings, explosions coming from Musutafu, and people being eaten alive.
The last message it had said before the power was cut off was to stay indoors and to not be seen. At the mention of the last message, Class 3-A turned into chaos, “What are we going to do!?”
"I need to call my parents!"
 "My family's worried for me!"
"Please pick up, pick up!"
"I need to leave!"
Izuku's heartbeat was racing, What about my mother?
Ochaco and a few others raced to the doors, "I got to leave, my parents are out there!"
Katsuki responded back, "No! We have to stay in here were it's fucking safe!"
The class had begun to shout, demanding Katsuki to move and to let them out. Izuku couldn’t stand their terrified yells and walked towards Katsuki, “Kacchan, let them go.”
Katsuki scoffed, "Are you fucking crazy!? Did you not hear what Aizawa just said? It’s not safe out there!”
Izuku then pointed at everyone, "Look at them! They're scared. They just want to go to their families! I want to go see my mom! See if she's alright."
"No fucking way, Deku!" Katsuki shouted at him, "You'll die out there. They'll all die out there."
Ochaco stepped up, "We'll take our chances!"
Katsuki scoffed once again as he stared at everybody, he then shook his head and told Eijiro and Tenya to open the doors, "Fine, but the second shit falls you all come back here."
The class nodded and one by one everyone left, the only few who remained were Katsuki, Tenya, Eijiro, Denki and Izuku.
"What now?" Denki asked as he stared at his friends.
"I'm going to look for my mom." Izuku said as he began to leave the dorms. Katsuki stopped him for a second, he nodded to Izuku, "We'll be here."
Izuku nodded and stared at his friends for what was about to be the last time. He then left the dorms and raced his way home.
The first time Izuku ran into a rotter he fell on his back. He watched as it ate another person. Of course he was mortified but he couldn't do much as it was already dead. He shook his head and ran to his home as fast as he could and when he arrived it was empty.
His mother's shoes, Inko, weren't at the doorsteps, her purse, phone, and wallet was gone.
“Did she try to go after me?” Izuku asked himself. He walked further to his house and tried ringing her but noticed that he had no service. He tried using the home phone yet only the deadline was heard. He turned on the tv only to be met with static, "Weird."
He headed straight into his mothers room to see if she left anything, like a note as to where she might have been but there was nothing. Izuku sat down on her bed, his eyes catched a photo frame that was placed on the nightstand. It was a picture of himself, Inko and his father, Hisashi.
Little by little, he felt his eyes begin to tear. What is he gonna do now? Where's his mother? What about his father? Is he safe where he's at or is it just as bad as it is here?
Not knowing what else to do but worry, Izuku cried as he hugged the photo frame. He hugged it tightly as if it were to run away if he lets go. He sniffed and shut his eyes as he repeatedly told himself that this was all a dream.
He repeated it for two months until that day when Izuku sat on the roof of a police station. He had found a R93 rifle in the police station. He cleared the place out and stayed there when he found out that the police had its own sewer system.
He took a shower there, ate can food, had enough ammo to last him for a couple weeks, and found a radio repeating the same thing, "Seek sanctuary."
Unfortunately, he had to leave his apartment as bandits came through. He grabbed the same photo that sat on Inko's nightstand and his notebook. Over the days, he wrote down every classmate's name, his friends name, and his family's name as a way to not forget them. He also wrote down how his days went to keep time moving.
As Izuku sat on the police station's roof, he peered down as he heard shuffling footsteps. His heart stopped breathing once he saw who, or what it was. Her green hair wasn’t in a bun like always, instead it was messy and matted and contained dried up blood.
She walked awkwardly. Her left foot didn't move; it just scratched itself against the floor and her other foot was bent, a bone sticking out. Her neck had visible flesh shown with dried blood. Her clothes were dirty yet it seemed to have fresh blood.
It was clear from her mouth that was filled with fresh blood, she had just eaten someone.
Izuku moved away from the edge and crumbled to the floor, he could feel his eyes beginning to water as he noticed his mother in such bad conditions. He gasped and rushingly wiped his tears, "That's not my mom, not anymore."
With a heavy sigh, he sniffed and looked at what was once his mother. He perched his rifle on the edge and looked through the scope. Once he had a clear shot of it, he took a deep breath in and let it out, with a finale 'I love you', he let his finger press the trigger.
Successfully, the bullet went through its head and Izuku watched as it fell.
He stared at its corpse for a few moments before getting up and going back down inside the station. He filled his yellow backpack with supplies and walked the opposite direction. With his mission finished, it was time to leave Musutafu.
He walked the silent roads until he saw a figure laying down in the middle of the road.

might tower was built some 8 or so years into toshinori's employment as a professional hero. it's 86 floors including the penthouse, and houses just about anything you could think you'd need on a day to day basis working for the big man — including multiple cafeterias, roomy offices, an entire event center, and a whole floor dedicated to being a pretty well stocked "break room", even including a gym and spa. he likes to take good care of his employees, as he can only imagine how stressful it'd be to work under japan's number one hero, the world's symbol of peace. and seeing that there's a lot of them, he does his best to accommodate them all, as briefly stated in this hc post. a good chunk of the tower is also open to the public. aside from a few unauthorized areas throughout the floors, like the offices and conference rooms, but even those can be authorized through a supervised tour. the exception to this, however, is behind the MIGHT GATE on floors 82 through 86.
the might lobby begins on the 82nd floor and is mainly comprised of an open, 3 story foyer used to house and display awards and gifts he's received over the years — like the 20ft bronze all might statue we've seen in the comics. there's also an information desk where people can ask for directions and schedule tours, as well as all might's landing pad — a designated, roped off area where he can safely land after returning from his hero work. immediately beyond the might gate is all might's office. it's big, and rather empty — probably pretty underwhelming to most who've had the pleasure of seeing it. it's comprised of a grand desk, surprisingly void of any paperwork, a couple of large portraits that he received from a fan quite some years ago, and a few plants to help fill the area. in case the immaculate condition of the place wasn't enough of a hint, his office is hardly ever used. up until the more recent years, he's had staff to take care of all of his back office work. so it's treated more like a glorified foyer to his LIVING QUARTERS located through another oversized set of doors. toshinori didn't always live in the tower, but as work piled up and days grew longer, he found himself spending more time commuting to and from work than he was able to spend at home. so it didn't take long for it to become his permanent residence. to some, all might's living quarters would probably be considered just as underwhelming as his office. it's an even LARGER space, with even more areas void of any sort of personality or life, but it has everything he'd need to live comfortably enough — a rather large kitchen, a master suite, a private gym...it even has what some would consider to be a pretty impressive sort-of theater for a living room, as one of yagi's favorite things to do is watch movies. to an outsider, the way everything is placed and laid out, the apartment as a whole may sort of seem like...an afterthought. perhaps because he wasn't planning on living there full time as he was, that it was something that he just accepted to be at some point and made do with what he had. the apartment's also never considered showroom ready, as most people would probably think. toshinori doesn't have any staff taking care of his quarters, as he quite enjoys his privacy beyond the gate. so he's fairly decent at picking up after himself and cleaning up his own messes — but seeing as he's practically NEVER expecting company, the bed's not gonna be made and you'll need to watch your step for stray house shoes when walking around.

Discordance by LadySable
bnha | mature | 52k | aideku | complete | imprinting on each other
Two lonely heroes collide at the strike of four AM. One just left the police station after dropping off a petty criminal. The other’s bleeding to death in an alleyway. In most cases, Shouta would drop the other off at a hospital and wash his hands of the situation. In this case? Shouta forgot to wear his stupid goggles.
WOW WOW WOW! This is such a treat to read. Shouta finds Dekiru, number 7 hero, really hurt in an alley after a long night of patrol, finds out he is an omega (which is a huge secret), and kinda imprints on him (it's mutual, and neither of their choice). So he takes Izuku to UA, and learns he will be stuck in an apartment with Izuku until Izuku is feeling good again and can go back to using his quirk, and maybe Shouta help him with his mental health struggles. Easy peasy.
The week is so amazing. The pov of both characters are so good and show a lot of who they are. Their relationship develops beautifully, they talk (sometimes), but they simply respect each other and actually really like each other a lot. Shouta is struggling with his feelings, and his imprinting. Izuku is struggling with everything, but not about having Shouta (Eraserhead!!!!) in his apartment.
The writing is so beautiful. Just reading the first paragraphs I was hooked! <3

Characters: Kaminari Denki, Iida Tenya, Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, Yoosung, Gojo Satoru, Kaeya Alberich, Yagi Toshinori
<-•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•—•->
I'm literally banging my head against the desk right now I thought I posted this. I really did... but better late then never ahaha
I'm not sorry for that one.

85: Stargazing
Kaminari
“Y/N, finally taking a break from work?” Your neighbor asks as you step out.
As you lock your door you give a little nod. “It’s been busy, but I’ve finished most of my tasks.”
It wasn’t uncommon for Pro heroes to be clear about their lives, but you decided to go with the hidden identity approach. You are an authorized pro hero but your legal name is not connected to your hero name unless there is an emergency. But it was something you didn’t need to worry about because your cousin could usually answer when it came to emergencies.
Waving to your neighbor you wonder if the night would be kind to you.
Getting to the bottom floor you check your phone. “He’s late.”
To entertain yourself you make tiny ice sculptures in the palms of your hands. This was dangerous because if you did it for too long your hands might go numb or you’ll get frostbite. But just as the chill was turning to a burn you notice the blond.
“Hi Y/n, how have you been?”
“Good, let’s go. I just barely got these away from my cousin.” You hold up the case with a smile. It wasn’t dark yet but it was getting there quickly.
Kaminari takes the telescope case from you and you both walk to the designated spot quickly setting it up. Stargazing wasn’t exactly your hobby but you enjoyed it nonetheless, you only got into it because of your older cousin. You loved hearing everyone talk about their hobbies.
“Do you see anything cause I don’t?” He frowns, stepping back and you roll your eyes.
Gently sliding the cap off you present the sight again. Kaminari was silent looking through it. Was this a good thing or a bad thing? But before you could ask what he saw he looked at you and it was like a spark in his eyes, like he just found something that he found interesting.
He grabs you by the shoulders and crushes you in a hug. “Y/n, that’s so fucking cool thank you for showing me.”
You raise a brow a bit confused. Slipping from his grip when it slacks to see that he saw. Honestly you did love looking at the stars, you could name a few stars when you know the location and time of year. But as you pull away you could see Kaminari practically vibrating with excitement.
“Wanna look again? I can guide you in finding a few really nice constellations, at least I like them,” you chuckle.
“You don’t have to keep using my surname, just call me Denki, y/n.” He grins.
“But you're my senior.”
“And I’m saying as your senior just call me by my name, a friend of mine had to get their name changed for safety reasons and they told us to give ‘em a nickname instead. Claiming that they were more protective of nicknames than their given names,” Kam- Denki shrugs before looking into the lens again.
Nodding slightly you start gently guiding him and the telescope to change the view. Maybe five years of working under Denki should be enough time to be close to him, though this was your first time thinking about calling someone by their given name.
86: Bucket hat
Iida
Checking your watch you couldn’t help the impatient tapping of your foot. Iida is many things but being late was not usually one of them. You were pretty much dimming as you waited because any longer than ten minutes and you were leaving.
“Y/N.”
Turning to the sound of your name you blink. Iida was running over by he was mostly covered in soot and looked like he’d been working. This is the first time he was late for a date and didn’t tell you. Okay maybe you should give him the benefit of the doubt this is the first time this has happened.
Crossing your arms you still felt your foot tapping, the speed almost equal to that if you had a rabbit quirk. “What happened?”
That came out harsher than you thought.
But he begins bowing in apology. “I’m sorry I know I’d always tell you if I would be late for any reason. But just as I was about to do that my phone broke.”
To solidify this he held up the broken pieces in a bag. Not your body went cold as fear climbed up your back. Grabbing his shoulders you started looking at the exposed skin.
“Are you okay? Did you get proper rest? If you had called me or had someone else text me I would have been over there in a moment.” Your panic was obvious considering his job.
“I’m fine my dear, please breathe.” He took a breath and you mimicked him.
“Why did you come here like this? If you couldn’t come I wouldn’t have minded. I only need contact.” You groan letting him go. “Just take this, we’re going to my place.”
Iida tenses.
You tug on him. “You need to get cleaned up, all I have to cover up your mess is my bucket hat let’s go. I still have a spare set of clothes for you.”
He nods. “That is very thoughtful.”
“It was a gift for your birthday, but at least this way I have a way to figure out if it fits,” you sigh. “Just call me from the office next time. I’d rather know you're safe than you run and hurt yourself.”
His hand gently squeezed yours as you walked. “I’ll run to you even if you ask me not to.”
Holding yourself back from pinching him you glare. “Of all people who knew the previous class president was so reckless.”
87: Sun
Tetsutetsu
“Hey lovely, are you ready?” You hold your hand to your best friend, Tetsutetsu, you both grew up together though when you both went to high school you didn’t talk until the beginning of this year.
“Y/n.” He grabs your hand but his face is red.
Chuckling, you lean against him. “Awe you used to love how close we are. How come you’re asking all shy now?”
Okay yes you took the joke a little too far. When you moved to Japan with your grandmother permanently everyone made assumptions on how you would act as a foreigner. You played so hard into that, it toned down a bit when you got to high school. Only enjoying teasing Tetsutetsu. Now you still keep it toned down.
“I’m not acting shy!”
Letting go of his hand you lock your fingers behind your head. “Alright, alright. I know. We’re not dating so I can’t cling to you.”
He turns to you a bit panicked. “I didn’t-
“Tetsu, I’m fine, don't worry. You’ve been giving me more than enough attention, how’s work been?”
Maybe you were bluffing a bit, Tetsutetsu called you every week even when you had plans to meet up. Sometimes even when he was working which could be dangerous because he didn’t tell you what his job was but you could only assume he succeeded in living out his dream.
He pauses. “Y/n, is work on your mind again?”
You wince. “Yeah. I mean someone broke the window in one of my shops, it’s closed while we get the glass reinforced but it’s discouraging.”
“Again!”
“It’s fine Tetsu, Mawmaw rose hell with the company. Honestly I only need one person getting upset on my behalf.”
Brushing this off you smile trying to take in as much sun as you could before you are pulled into the usual fall rush of your cafe. You owned three. Usually someone of your age wouldn’t have one but through the power of learning and family connections you owned and managed three cafes.
“How is your grandma?” Tetsutetsu asks.
You raise a brow. “You should visit, she asks about you every once in a while.”
But he freezes up. “I-
“What's still embarrassing about what happened?” You pat his back. “I just-
“Let me use my second quirk? Tetsu, I’m fine, see. If anything it made me better.”
“Look that wasn’t fair of me, Y/N-
Frowning you grab him by the ear and pull him down to be eye level with you. Off the side of the sidewalk to keep from being a distraction.
“Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, look me in the eye and tell me what you're really thinking happened after you left? Everyone’s quirk drawbacks are different. I’m not a hero, I’m not in the hospital. I’m healthy and standing here before you.”
He winced a bit when you pulled him down but he pulled you into a hug. You were a bit caught off guard, maybe it was because you were expecting him to say something and not squeeze you so gently to the same effect one would hold a feather to keep it from slipping from one’s fingers.
“Don’t do it again. Please, Y/n, that was scary enough the one time.”
Tetsutetsu was always the strong one growing up, you got hurt no matter what you did so he would do it for you. But hearing the way he pleaded with you made your heart ache.
“You know I can’t promise that, all I can do is try.”
White lies are okay right?
88: Grass
Yoosung
Maybe it was just you, but you didn’t often spend time in nature. So maybe deciding to marry a veterinarian wasn’t the best idea after adopting a puppy. You happened to meet Yoosung in school, and just kept running into him. At first you thought it was funny neither of you were actively trying to meet one another and he even admitted to finding it odd. Eventually the coincidence became too much and you told him that if you both met again without meaning to you'd ask him to marry you.
Two years after graduation you wanted to adopt a puppy, you were home most of the time working in your apartment, but it was because you were lonely.
“Y/n?” you were looking at the puppies from a distance trying to figure out which one you were drawn to more.
A bit confused when you look back. “Oh! Yoosung, I haven’t seen you since graduation. How is everything?”
He smiles, and for some reason you felt warm. “It’s nice to see you again, everything has been well. What are you doing here?”
“I was thinking of adopting a puppy, since most of my work is done at home. My apartment doesn’t allow cats so I thought a dog would be best,” you explain as you start to reconsider.
“Y/n.”
Looking at Yoosung again he smiles.
“Will you marry me?”
Now as you stand in the grass with his hands in yours you didn’t care about the eyes on you when asked the question. “Do you Y/n L/n take Yoosung as your lawfully wedded husband?”
“I do.”
89: Stop taking your clothes off
Gojo
Curses, you hated them and they were so common. Why did you need to transfer? Maybe it was because they were so concentrated in Japan but you didn’t want to leave even if it was for work.
“Woah ho ho, I never thought I’d meet the famous Y/n,” you looked at the white haired man with a huff.
“Shut up Satoru, we have things to do. And I’m tired,” you remind him, hiking your bag on your shoulder.
He smirks. “You didn’t bring a lot, are you planning on running again?”
“The less I carry the easier it is to travel. Not to mention, you’re not allowed to have a gun with you on the plane unless you are a very particular kind of passenger.
“What about your bow and arrow?”
“Are we going or not? Your students are already here, I have to prepare everything for mine to get here,” you groan.
He nods. “Fine, fine, I know when not to mess with you.”
“Good, cause they barely let me sleep on the plane,” you scoff, following him out.
From the airport to the school you could just feel Gojo’s eyes on you through the blindfold. So when getting to the doctor you just dropped your bags and started preparing for your exam.
“What are you- stop taking off your clothes!” The doctor sighs.
“It’s easier to check me without them, I didn’t take all of them off. Besides, does it matter when he’s so close?” You cross your arms.
“Right.”
“Don’t agree with them. This is gonna be a long training.”
90: Fishing
Kaeya
“Y/n, y/n. We’re gonna go fishing!”
Okay. You weren’t sure if your sister jumping up and down on the bed was a good idea. Especially is every other jump she would land on you, with a groan you sit up.
“Okay, okay. I’m up. I’m up.” The succession of pops as you stretch forward feels relaxing.
Your little sister was not amused. “Come on, I wanna go fishing. How different is it from fishing in Snezhnaya?”
You pick up your sister quickly ruffling her hair and tickling her. “Well you can’t sit on the water and fish unless you have a boat and last I checked we don’t have a boat.”
She tries to push you off gasping for air between laughing. “But how will we get the big fish?”
“Not sure. Go get dressed, we can ask Kaeya.” You shrug before getting out of bed and letting her run free.
But just as you stood on your legs they gave out and you crashed to the ground with all the grace of a falling bird. Because of the small space you hit the dresser and nightstand effectively harming yourself. But your vision activates.
“No, fuck.” Healed up you groan seeing your bed soaked. “You useless piece of, ugh.”
What a wonderful way to start the day. It was noon by the time you met Kaeya on the bridge. Walking next to him was a young boy covered in scars and various bandages.
“What a wonderful day it is to go fishing?” Dyri cheers excitedly.
“Oi you’ll scare any fish before we start.” You sigh.
Kaeya laughs. “Don’t have to worry about that.”
As if appearing out of nowhere there was a young elf girl next to him as well.
“Hello my name is Klee.”
“Are you coming fishing with us?” You ask with a small smile.
“Yes.”
Maybe you should have persuaded them to do a different task. Bomb fishing with a child wasn’t fun. Considering Dyri could throw seed bombs and added too many plants to the area. Though she could grow them it didn’t prevent anyone from being harmed. Not to mention the backlash of the bomb fishing.
Kaeya was laughing as everyone sat on your healing circle. “You should have seen your face!”
“Yes, Dyri, honey can you grow Cecilia’s?”
“I think I can.”
You smile. “I think Kaeya would love your special hair treatment.”
Kaeya chuckles. “Come on Y/N, you know I can’t hurt a child.”
Dyri looks at him and nods. “Bloom.”
Giggling you couldn’t help it, it was like looking at several bouquets of flowers. Kaeya just laughs as he goes to pick up your sister.
“Was that fun?” You ask.
Klee smiled and Bennett looked a little sheepish. A few times he fell into the water when the girls were trying to catch fish.
“Let’s go back, I’m sure everyone is tired,” Kaeya sighs.
“Let me carry Dyri, I’m sure she’s heavy.” You offer.
“I can carry her,” Kaeya nods. “Come on Klee, Bennett.”
You pat Bennett. “You did good, and don’t worry. I’m used to healing others.”
As Klee led the way Bennett was a few steps behind while you lagged behind with Kaeya and your little sister. She fell asleep.
“I’ll get you back for that.”
“I have no idea what you mean. But thanks, I missed everything about Mondstadt.” You grin.
Kaeya frowns. “Why don’t we have a drink sometime?”
“If I could spare the time I would.”
91: Sand castle
Yagi Toshinori
Getting adopted later in life was odd, but when you did it meant you and your brother got a better chance at not suffering. You were going to start college in the spring and your brother was entering High school. As a kind of relaxation from the stress of exams your adoptive dad took you to the beach.
The mean look embedded in your features served as a good repellent to anyone trying to weasel their way into your time, college was said to be stressful and it took you two years just to get in.
Your brother frowns. “Y/N, do you think he knows we’re a little too old to have a family day at the beach?”
Looking at him you shake your head. “Let him be. I want him to have fond memories with us too, if only it was more convenient to go into the water.”
“You don’t have to worry too much. I went in and people just left me be.” Your brother shrugs, but the after effect.
You and your brother shared the same quirk— it was rare but it wasn’t unheard of— when your skin came into contact with water it would instinctively flex into iridescent scales. But it often drew attention when it rained, during swim class, at the pool with friends, as a child who loved your quirk and water.
“I guess.” You nod.
Just as you thought about getting in the water the sound of footsteps made you look behind you. “I brought you some snow cones.”
“Thanks…” you accept the cone and Your brother beams. “Thanks dad.”
“What’s wrong Y/n?” Your adoptive father had revealed that he was All might— the world renowned hero— almost five years ago, he hadn’t told you when he adopted you or your brother. You had assumed he was always busy with work because there weren't a lot of people in the profession.
“Nothing,” looking at the snow cone you wonder how long it would take to melt. Your hand was already starting to change and you just watched.
“Dad, can we build a sandcastle together?”
He smiles. “Of course.”
You almost laugh since your brother was to mention your age, but acting like a child wasn’t a bad idea. Eating the snow cone you smile waiting for the time to build.
“Y/N, can you get more water I’m gonna hold this wall hurry,” your brother states as your dad looks at you.
“I can-
You shake your head grabbing the bucket. “I got it.”
Quickly getting the water you look at how your legs shined in the late day sun your scales were a bad reminder to you before. Rushing the water over you helps with the small creation. By the end of it you and your brother had different sections of the iridescent scales exposed but large smiles.
“Dad, can we do something like this again next year?” You ask still high on excitement and the content of completing the intricate craft.
Toshinori smiles as he takes a candid picture of you and Thor brother. “Of course.”
Before you left you looked at your brother as you both tore down the castle, you had plenty of pictures of it.

Why do you think Adrien has more salt than Marinette? I've seen some fandom has more salt/bashing toward the protagonist than the side character since they're the focus on the show and yet Adrien and Alya has more salt than Marinette ever.
I mean if they hate Adrien because he's a "harrasser" like salter claims, then they should also hate on Felix but they like him better instead. If they hate doormat then they should've also hate Luka because he's way more passive than Adrien is.
I asked this because I'm curious, not because I'm hoping more salt/bashing toward Marinette. It just weird that people more focused on minor character than the protagonist.
Oh I know what you mean, it's really frustrating, especially since Alya and Adrien are so heavily bashed supposedly for Marinette's sake.
I think it's actually because Marinette's the main protagonist that Alya and Adrien are so heavily and unfairly demonized. Unfortunately Marinette gets identified with so heavily a lot of times, that both her actual personality and the personalities and reasoning of everyone around her gets shunted to the wayside in favor of using her as a tool to vent frustration at anything that bothers her fans in their actual lives - such as a friend not doing what they want them to do in Alya's case.
As for the stuff with Adrien, the "doormat" stuff and the hatred for him for that is REALLY misguided, and tends to assume that Adrien knew Lila was actively malicious during Chameleon, which he did not. I think it's part of this wider push against people who you look up to and care about the opinion of seeming to push back against some course of action you're planning that you really want their support on, regardless of whether they have a point or not. I see something like that with the way Yagi Toshinori is demonized in the MHA fandom sometimes for telling Izuku he couldn't be a superhero once he found out he was quirkless, even though Yagi was basing that on how wildly dangerous the profession was and how badly he himself had been injured, and with him changing his mind and apologizing to Izuku and training him just a few chapters later.
With the "harasser" stuff and preferring Felix to Adrien, Felix's actions in his debut episode are often just ignored in that case. I'm betting because the person had already decided that Felix would be the person they'd pair with Marinette in Adrien's place, so any actions he actually took in canon didn't matter, since he was being made to fit whatever the writer wants without regard to canon. Also Felix's cleverness is fun to watch, and his meanness is useful if you want to sic him on people - which in these cases, are often Marinette's canonically much nicer friends.
You'll see stuff like this in other really popular series, like Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. It appears to only really take off with the main protagonist, since that's the person you're meant to identify with and made to see the viewpoint of the most, and because this kind of warped bashing often requires the audience member to identify with the main protagonist, and ONLY the main protagonist, and not consider the situation from anyone else's point of view.

Twenty Day Challenge - Day Thirteen
Tumblr media
Burnout, exhaustion, so on and so forth.
Tumblr media
He has gotten so used to pushing past his limit.
Honestly, if it weren't for the forced time limit from his fight with AFO, he probably would've kept it up.
But by that time his private life (what little was left) had fallen totally apart.
Beating AFO/being injured by him actually gave Toshinori some of his life back, if that makes sense.
Still struggles with feelings of being burnt out/overused on the regular.
Will go home and disassociate for hours.
He doesn't even realize- he'll just sit down on his couch and stare.
When he starts training Midoriya, this starts to fade.
He starts actually living while at home again.
Thanks to his Hero work he didn't exactly have a lot to do at his place, so his apartment (and 'All Might's home') is spotless.
No posters, but there are some drag marks on the wall from years of leaning against it when he came home.
Then he joins U. A. and meets Fin and everything.
Just starts living more and more.
Not for work, but for himself.
Literally revives this man from an early (by his standards) grave.
If it weren't for Midoriya and going to U. A. he probably would be nothing but a literal husk still.
When exhaustion and burnout do hit he tries to power through, but it's getting harder as he gets older.
Exhaustion is so much easier to deal with than burnout.
His coworkers (and his soulmate) sometimes force him to take a day or two of personal leave.
This man's energy is random, these days. One day he'll feel like he could run a marathon, the next...cannot get up from bed.
Tumblr media
Big case of 'gifted kid burnout' after they graduated HS/their brother was finally arrested.
Forgot what it meant to really 'live' after they were transferred to Japan.
Felt like they lost all agency in their life, what little they'd managed to get.
Just fell into a near-blind state of working.
If it weren't for the cat they adopted (Prism) when they moved, they might've lost it entirely.
Will actively work even if they feel like absolute shit.
Has shown up to work while horribly ill multiple times (only to be sent home).
The last (and final) straw for Thirteen was one of Fin's two fainting incidents- when they fainted in the bathrooms just outside one of the sites, Thirteen had them sent home (driven by one of the few coworkers who learned where they lived).
Often doesn't have the energy for their side-projects, it's not hard to tell they have abandoned projects because the sketchbooks/journals hidden under their blankets are stuffed with ideas.
Always leaves work exhausted.
Often takes on the work of their colleagues when said coworkers are tired/under the weather.
Doesn't realize how work-centric their life has become until they start talking to the kids/meet Yagi.
As time goes on life starts to feel--- more colorful??? More like living.
Confuses them so much but they just go with it.
Takes a while for them to realize that they have the energy to do things again- instead of just sliding through the motions.
How they managed to act so peppy at work while feeling empty is beyond them.
Has what they like to call 'shut downs' and 'lock ins' when they get too stressed/expend too much energy (more than they have).
Shut Downs - It feels like their brain just- shuts down. No thoughts, they just stare blankly. Don't move if prompted. Don't react. Might cry if someone makes them laugh. Quiet mumbles at best, any noise/interaction/etc. feels like knives in their head. They feel emotions a lot more intensely during a Shut Down, and can more easily be provoked to a facial reaction- but that's about it.
Lock Ins - Their mind is still going just fine, usually happens right after a Shut Down. Their body stops responding to any and all external stimuli. Can't move. Can't speak. They might get stuck making a repetitive motion or uttering the same phrase over and over until it becomes gibberish (not to be confused with one of their panic attack symptoms). All the while, their brain is fully functioning and aware- they can think, but it's like they can't get their mind to force their body to move or act. They're trapped in their own head until a Lock In breaks on its own. Similar to a Shut Down in that any amount of stimuli outside of the smallest thing feels absolutely horrible.
If they push their mental energy beyond a certain limit, Fin will enter into a Shut Down- followed by a Lock In. They cannot control this, and often will retract/hide from others if they can, when it begins.
If both are exhausted/burnt out...
They don't really do much, honestly.
Might lounge in bed, brushing each other's hair.
At best there might be LoFi music playing at Fin's request.
Might sit and watch the view outside the window together.
Literally just-- nothin'.
They're chillin', let them be.
Comfortable silence if there is no music/LoFi.

Wow, I was expecting something like this for the ending, but somehow, I got nicely surprised anyway!
So, Cecaelia are not fully extinct eh?
For one second, I thought AFO was actually the last one. Good thing that was not truth.
Anyway, I am surprised he did not tried to have a family or something with a female Cecaelia since he lost his brother and is so alone. But maybe not even other cecaelia liked him?
Do Cecaelia have like a bunch of babies out of a bunch? Because Izuku was very tiny, and as far as I know, octopus like almost any other fish species, have like a lot of babies so the species has a bigger chance of surviving.
Also... are cecaelia better at magic that mermaids?
AFO is a biased source of information. But both species were trying to kill each other and Cecaelia seem to be (in AFO's case at least) very good in magic.
Do cecaelia live for so long? Because if they do, the chances of they getting wiped completely out is really hard, since they can hide all they want without fear of dying from old age.
And now that Toshi lost his only heir to the throne...
What's next?
Is the Yagi line going to disappear completely now?
I think it's been long enough since Sinking into the Depths finished to answer this. Full disclosure that I had a coauthor for that AU so I'm not the sole person in control of all the lure, so just consider this my own idle thoughts rather than fic canon.
All for One is a liar for the entire fic. He initially tells Izuku that he is the last of his kind to win sympathy. Also, All for One made it sound like the mers were solely responsible for wiping out the Cecaelia but his people got into a war with pretty much every other underseas species. All for One wanted to make Izuku feel more guilty and responsible. By the end All for One had trouble keeping track of his lies. Izuku was just starting to notice the inconsistences but did not figure it out in time.
All for One doesn't like other people enough to want to reproduce with one. He can create his own child and then he doesn't have to share custody. Like octopi, Cecaelia are solitary and territorial creatures. If All for One had actually been the last of his kind he would have been more urgent about reproducing but he was lying about that.
Cecaelia usually only produce one child at a time and have low fertility rates, because I believe in the common fantasy rule that immortal/long-lived species have less fertility. The Cecaelia created a spell to transform other species because it's hard for them to have children. Since Cecaelia are an intelligent race, they look after their children rather than throwing them out in the ocean and letting them survive on their own. Their babies are treasured and have a high survival rate.
Cecaelia are much stronger at magic than mer or any other race. All for One wasn't idly bragging or lying about that.
Cecaelia are nearly immortal. A good portion of the population avoided all the fighting and hid in the distant corners of the ocean so they were never truly likely to get completely wiped out.
Toshinori has no intention of giving up on Izuku and will continue to chase after his missing son. He would angrily reject anyone to tried to convince him to remarry. There are distant cousins who could inherit the throne. (Katsuki and Mirio are both in the line of succession.) However I will let the reader decide if Toshinori finds his son again. Don't write him off yet! All for One is foolish enough to flaunt that he has Izuku, and that is Toshinori's chance.

All Might and His Son.
Tumblr media
This is an idea I've been kicking around for a good long while, but I absolutely ADORE All Might as a character and while this isn't an Izuku Yagi idea, it's a very different idea.
So to start, All Might has a kid. He was little when the battle with All for One happened because All for One took him, his name is Toshijiro and he heavily repressed the memory.
However, Toshinori fought the hardest he'd ever done in his life, putting all of his power into it. Getting wounded after his son landed in his arms.
Toshinori and Toshijiro are extremely close, even in looks and somewhat in personality, however Toshijiro is different in several respects. He wants his Dad to stop, he wants to take on One For All himself, so his dad doesn't have to fight anymore.
Yet, Toshinori never wanted that for his son, he wanted Toshijiro to be happy, to live a future free from the shadow of All For One. For the most part, he succeeded.
Of course, the past never stays dead in My Hero Academia, and after Kamino, Toshinori calls his son back to Japan. After his stint in America, he's happily reunited with his father and meeting who he picked to carry One For All.
His VC is Kaiji Tang, watch the Might Guy vs. All Might Death Battle to hear what he sounds like as All Might and you get the reason why I picked him.
So to start, Toshijiro is the False Might until Endeavor takes his spot. Being a bit of a similar goofball to his father, but able to suck it down and get to business.
He won't ever give up, his sunlight will pierce the darkness and leave it all revealed! He doesn't need One For All to face the nightmare of All For One!
Personality.
Tumblr media
"I'll never yield or stop! I'll always get back up! That's the way I do things and always will! My sunlight will always be here, my fists will always be here, and my soul will shine as bright as it can! Here I am, Toshijiro Yagi, the SON OF ALL MIGHT!"-Toshijiro rallying himself to face All For One, assuring everyone that he'll give it his all.
"Aww, aren't you a little ray of sunshine?! Dad, you really picked a tough little dude, didn'tcha?"- Toshijiro meeting Izuku for the first time.
"Dad, I've been in your shadow for years... let me end this with you!"- Toshijiro and Toshinori about to open a can of Father-Son Whoopass on Akira For One.
He's very much a natural fit for a hero, and his personality mostly reflects that but he's much more serious, a Do-or-Die mindset to every fight.
He gives it his all no matter what. 100%? Pah! Make it 200! No, 300! He believes in the inherent goodness in people, and wants to guide all the villains he can back to society, be the light of hope for his generation and maybe have a long and storied career like his father.
However he has a lot of pressure and self doubt on his shoulders, barely remembering a time before his father was injured, and constantly worrying over his father's condition.
As the third strongest hero, Toshijiro has big shoes to fill and pushes himself to the limit, when All Might wins, Toshijiro loses. His hero name when not playing as his father is the Sun Hero: Helios.
His relationship with Izuku is like a big brother and little brother. He DID train him how to control his quirk better in his substitute lessons. Also how to fight without One For All in case he can't use it.
Quirk!
Quirk Name: Sunlight.
Quirk Type: Transformation.
Quirk Description: Toshijiro can absorb sunlight and use it as an all around body enhancement, however his strength is mostly dependent on the time of day he uses it.
Also if he uses it during the night, he might end up burning himself quite badly. It started as a very weak quirk until he found out he could absorb sunlight and stock it up.
Initially, he was quirkless until much later. About 10 years old.
Ship Ideas!
Seeing as Toshijiro is at least in his 20s and 30s I have several ships in mind for him. (These aren't definite but I'm just spitballing here.)
Tumblr media
Fuyumi Todoroki, or Frostlight.
This is your classic Forbidden Love trope where Toshijiro and Fuyumi met outside of knowing who their families are. Fuyumi just thought the silver haired sweetheart that helped her carry some of her shopping home was some random hero, but it didn't take her long to figure out her new friend was an All Might stand-in and got to know him.
She ended up being confessing her feelings after one tough day teaching at her school. She was so frustrated and venting to Toshijiro while he just listened and she ended up blurting out that she liked his 'Dorky hero face and all that!'
Toshijiro just smiled, nodded, and gave her a quick little peck on the lips. Of course when Enji finds out he's absolutely furious but can't do anything about it because Fuyumi is an adult and can make her own decisions.
It's karma for all the shit he put the family through, his daughter gave her heart to the son of the man he was trying to surpass. His son in law will be a constant reminder of what he failed to surpass.
In short, every time Fuyumi and Toshijiro are cute together, you can just feel the blood pressure rising in Enji.
Fuyumi worries about Toshijiro and the effects of how much he has to do as the temporary All Might.
Tumblr media
Miruko, or Sunbunny.
Rumi took one look at Toshijiro and challenged him to a fight. After which she asked him out. After their first date, she decided to visit the son of All Might every other week and keep his skills sharp.
Sometimes she'd win, sometimes he'd win, and after each time the winner has to buy the other lunch or dinner or whatever meal that's appropriate for the time.
Little did Toshijiro know that this is the way Rumi Usagiyama dates people. She always thought of dating someone really strong, and a guy on the same level as All Might is way too good to pass up!
She proposed to him after one last round. She won him, he lost to her, so she gets rights to propose. Also, they DO work together on missions quite often in the interim, so it's not just fighting between them.
She does care in her own Miruko-Way.
Tumblr media
Chitose Kizuki, or SunMine.
Chitose was chasing the story of a lifetime, a sensational hero from America taking up his father's title as Number One Hero temporarily and she gets the exclusive scoop?
She'll win big with profits for that one. But as she's interviewing him and getting to know him, there's something... warm. Something safe between them.
Like he's a gentle soul, that only wants to help his dad out. It soon goes beyond the scope of reporter and interviewee. Soon she's the one divulging her secrets, and getting someone who likes her despite her own hangups about her appearance.
It gets to the point that she doesn't publish it. In fact she turned it into a dictated Autobiography by him. On their wedding day she sent it to several publishers and got it published, this time telling the candid truth of a young hero living in the shadow of a legend.
She became a very famous author and left the PLF. Hand in hand with her husband.
Tumblr media
Kiruka Hasaki, or SunSlice.
The two of them met each other as villain and hero, slowly building up a relationship after Toshijiro revealed that he didn't really want to turn her in. She didn't really do anything wrong yet. She's still really strong so he offered a partnership and she took it.
And that's all so far!

February Fanfic Recs
Here are the fics that I’ve really liked this month. All of these are complete. Enjoy!
Fandoms: Avatar: The Last Airbender (1), Boku no Hero Academia (5), Fullmetal Alchemist (1), Haikyuu!! (6), Stranger Things (1), Voltron: Legendary Defender (1)
Find January’s Recs here or browse my fanfic recs tag.
Fandom: Avatar: The Last Airbender Title: hey, isn't this easy Author: WitchofEndor Pairing: Sokka/Zuko, Aang/Katara Rating: Teen Word Count: 20,649 Summary: Zuko doesn’t have time to deal with pressure for an arranged marriage, especially since he isn’t even sure he likes women that way. (A realisation that has absolutely nothing to do with Ambassador Sokka - shut up, Suki.) Katara and Aang have broken up again, and the Northern Water Tribe are pushing for a match between the North and South. Which leads Zuko and Katara to develop a genius, foolproof, only slightly drunken plan: they can pretend to date for the length of Katara’s stay in the palace, giving them both a brief reprieve from political pressures on their love lives. What could go wrong?
Fandom: Boku no Hero Academia Title: reconcile Author: whatagoodegg Pairing: None Rating: Teen Word Count: 151,203 Summary: Midoriya and Shigaraki get hit with a Quirk that basically locks the both of them in an indestructible box and makes them unable to physically harm each other. The only way for them to get out? They have to reconcile their differences. Obviously, this is easier said than done.
Fandom: Boku no Hero Academia Title: Complicated Creation Author: Elemental Pairing: Aizawa Shouta/Yamada Hizashi Rating: General Word Count: 112,787 Summary: Midoriya Izuku is medically quirkless, not technically homeless, perpetually exhausted and doing his damned best despite it all. He also sees spirits, which might be cool if not for the fact that a) no one else does, b) they really don't like him very much, and c) he's pretty sure the heroes now think he's a villain working for the League. Aizawa Shota just wants to take down Overhaul, rescue Eri, keep his students alive, get some rest, and find out how this Deku kid knows things he absolutely should not know about his personal life and the Shie Hassaikai case. Unless Nighteye's right, and the kid really is a villain.
Fandom: Boku no Hero Academia Title: Family (Regardless of Blood or Time) Author: Blueseabird2 Pairing: Aizawa Shouta/Yamada Hizashi Rating: Teen Word Count: 16,252 Summary: Shouta gets sent back in time and immediately starts putting things into place to take down All for One. More importantly, he also adopts a lot of children, meets friends at the Park, and joins Midoriya Inko on her crusade against society's idiocy. He gets Nezu involved. (He's also not as alone as he thinks).
Fandom: Boku no Hero Academia Title: looking for sunlight Author: the_crownless_queen Pairing: None Rating: Teen Word Count: 3,964 Summary: Being at Mighty Tower feels a little like a dream come true, to Izuku. Okay, maybe a lot like it. In which Aldera is terrible (duh), Mighty Tower is awesome (also duh) and Izuku's new acquaintance/possibly friendly adult Yagi Toshinori is pretty cool — and taking him to meet All Might.
Fandom: Boku no Hero Academia Title: If Pining's a Joke, We're a Comedy Show Author: JajaLala Pairing: Fukukado Emi/Kayama Nemuri, Aizawa Shouta/Yamada Hizashi Rating: Teen Word Count: 7,729 Summary: Kayama Nemuri has a certain problem with a cute joke-themed hero. Every time they meet sparks fly, but it's impossible to tell whether Ms. Joke really feels the same, or if she's only flirting for the sake of comedic bits. Shouta, the confidante, is getting tired of all this pining.
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist Title: Serenade  Author: akaparalian Pairing: Edward Elric/Roy Mustang Rating: General Word Count: 3,271 Summary: There's no hurry to return to reality tonight, Roy thinks, laying his cheek against Ed's head. For now, it feels just right to stay like this — the two of them, alone together, with a promise of forever ringing in both of their heads.
Fandom: Haikyuu!! Title: no matter what they tell you Author: Slumber Pairing: Hinata Shouyou/Miya Atsumu Rating: Teen Word Count: 9,817 Summary: “But how do you know when it’s real or not?” Atsumu presses Hinata, frowning. “What if you’re not in love, what if you’re just infatuated?” “Hah!” Osamu says from the kitchen. “Like that’s ever stopped you from accepting someone’s confession when they’re the only ones who’ve rung your Love Alarm!” “You don’t know if feelings can develop from that!” Atsumu argues, turning to the rest of the table to see if anyone would back him up on this. “Love’s about chances, right?” In a world where an app that can tell you when someone loves you, all Atsumu wants is to be told he's in love with someone who loves him back.
Fandom: Haikyuu!! Title: eventually you'll see Author: Slumber Pairing: Hinata Shouyou/Miya Atsumu Rating: Teen (Part 2 is Explicit) Word Count: 3,251 Series: Part 1 of atsuhina age swap au (Words: 23,415 - Works: 2) Summary: There is no way out of this. Atsumu's in line for a postgame meet-and-greet like one of those idol fans, only it's for volleyball players so is that worse? better?, clutching a HINATA 21 jersey so it could get signed. He'd hesitated, ya know? Thought maybe, oh, what if he'd picked Iizuna's jersey instead, he's on the team and actually a setter, even, wouldn't that have made more sense? In which high schooler Atsumu develops a crush on pro volleyball player Hinata.
Fandom: Haikyuu!! Title: glitter & gold Author: comehomenezumi Pairing: Hinata Shouyou/Miya Atsumu Rating: General Word Count: 10,331 Summary: What I saw on the stage that night was something no one else could see. You know what that means, right? Your color is gold, Atsumu-san. Even the fates think of you as their star. Miya Atsumu is a rising star among idols—at least, that's what Natsu told Shoyo as she begged him to take her to his concert when her friend bailed. As Shoyo gazes upon the stage that night, eyes drawn to the glimmering golden trail Atsumu leaves behind with each step he takes, Shoyo comes to realize that his soulmate and Miya Atsumu are one and the same.
Fandom: Haikyuu!! Title: Sleeping Together (in the euphemistic sense) Author: Esselle Pairing: Kageyama Tobio/Ushijima Wakatoshi Rating: Explicit Word Count: 5,341 Summary: "Kageyama Tobio," Wakatoshi said. In the seat across from him, his setter looked up from where he'd been glaring at the menu. "I should inform you—I invited you to dinner in order to seduce you." "Oh," Kageyama said. He folded the menu to give Wakatoshi his full attention. It reminded Wakatoshi of the moments just before he decided who to toss to during a game. "Thank you for telling me." -- No one is more surprised than Ushijima and Kageyama to realize that they are, in fact, dating.
Fandom: Haikyuu!! Title: Better Late Than Never Author: Esselle Pairing: Hinata Shouyou/Kageyama Tobio/Sugawara Koushi Rating: Explicit Word Count: 8,054 Series: Part 1 of Better Late Than Never (Words: 22,620 - Works: 5) Summary: ' "Excuse me," Shouyou says, sounding frustrated. "When exactly did Kageyama get all sexy?" "What's that supposed to mean?" Tobio demands. "You used to be all weird and awkward and now you're like all—guh and unnngh and stuff!" "I have never made either of those sounds in my life," Tobio deadpans. "Yes, you have," Koushi says. Tobio scowls. ' -- Four years after Koushi graduates, two years after he and Tobio started putting together the puzzle that is their relationship, the last piece finally falls into place.
Fandom: Haikyuu!! Title: First, Last Author: boomturkey Pairing: Hinata Shouyou/Miya Atsumu/Sakusa Kiyoomi Rating: Explicit Word Count: 8,199 Summary: Atsumu and Sakusa find out that Hinata has been telling little white lies about how experienced he is. They are determined to find something they can finally be first at when it comes to Hinata.
Fandom: Stranger Things Title: Deathbed Endearments Author: breakaway71 Pairing: Steve Harrington/Eddie Munson Rating: Teen Word Count: 2,074 Summary: Eddie and Steve have a heart-to-heart while trying to keep Steve from bleeding out all over the ground. Actually, Steve thinks it's one of their better chats. He just hopes he lives long enough to remember it later.
Fandom: Voltron: Legendary Defender Title: Observations in Xenobotany Author: akaparalian Pairing: Keith/Shiro Rating: Teen Word Count: 8,333 Summary: Shiro and Keith take an impromptu vacation mission to a lush planet with a reputation for hospitality, and over a decade of mutual pining finally comes to a head.

Wise Men Say "Only Fools Rush In" by LavenderAuthor
Dabi and Hawks break up after Hawks is stopped from killing Twice and taken before the League could grab him to interrogate him.
Dabi couldn't bring himself to burn what Hawks gave him after the breakup, not even the feather that gently rubbed along his hands during a nightmare.
Hawks couldn't bring himself to take his feathers back from the villains after the breakup and couldn't stop himself from listening to Dabi sleep in case he has a nightmare, can't stop himself from comforting the man and chirp calmly when he felt the warmth of Dabi's quirk around the feather.
