london, fidget, fall out boy

i’m on the train back from london now! going back home to brighton. i’m currently delayed because of congestion at the next station ahead so that’s really fun and not annoying at all. anyway i thought i would take the time to write my little blog about what i’ve been up to!

i met my friend jen in london waterloo yesterday (like two hours late… standard tobi fashion) and then we went on a little trip to the big selfridges! i also got mcdonald’s because i didn’t eat in the morning. selfridges is basically just a big shop full of designer clothes for tories, but the top floor is a big toy shop. we went to look for the jellycats, jen wanted the cloud and i wanted the skeleton, but they actually didn’t have either. i ended up getting a bat and jen got a burger and a snowman. this is them!!!

i decided to name my bat fidget! i think that it’s pretty cute. i’ve also started an instagram account for him (i’m that guy) it’s @fidget.adventures if anyone wants to follow his journey! so far he’s come everywhere with me!

after we went to selfridges we went to our hotel which was actually super fancy and i just had no idea??? jen was in charge of booking and organising, i just paid however much she told me to. i paid back in january so i guess i forgot that it was right next to the O2 arena. like RIGHT next to. and so posh. insanely posh, we both felt so out of place. it was fun though. we put all our stuff in the room and just chilled out for a bit, then we went to get something to eat but it was a nightmare. jen’s a really picky eater so she didn’t want wagamamas, she wasn’t in the mood for pizza, blah blah blah we went to costa. i know what you’re thinking… “costa? before a concert? when you hadn’t eaten since lunch?” i know. but we did that. i had a brie and cranberry toastie and oh my goooodddd it was so good i loved every single bite. nom.

once we’d eaten we headed over to the merch store where we had to queue for like .. half an hour? 45 minutes maybe? it wasn’t that bad but it was raining and we were queuing outside so it could’ve been better. i ended up getting a fall out boy tshirt, and maybe surprisingly i got merch from one of the opening bands. honestly i’d never heard of them and they weren’t the best but i thought their merch was cool so i bought it! i also put the fall out boy tshirt on over my jumper so i was #prepared for the actual concert.

the queue to get in was short but we were like two hours early because jen tends to freak herself out if she’s not early to stuff, basically the complete opposite of me. i left my passport in the hotel so i couldn’t even get a pint (DEVASTATING). i did get a pepsi max though! we headed into the actual arena as soon as doors opened at 6:30 to find our seats. the opening bands were okay! the first people, nothing,nowhere , are the people who’s merch i got. they did a lot of shouting and “get the fuck up!”s but you could tell the crowd were NOT feeling it. it was also relatively quiet still. the second opening act was PVRIS. she was alright! maybe not my type of music but i can definitely see the appeal. her talking voice is so different to her singing voice too, so it caught me off guard a little bit. but the people seemed to like her more. maybe she’s a little more well known, i have no idea.

then fall out boy came on.

oh my god.

i’ve seen them before, for the MANIA tour in like… 2018 i think? and i loved it then, but i definitely enjoyed last nights show more. i don’t really know anything from the new album, so much for stardust, but imagine my delight when they play their old music. i’m not talking american beauty/american psycho old, or even folie a deux old, but they did play some folie. i’m talking TAKE THIS TO YOUR GRAVE. the debut album. 2003. music older than i am. they played saturday, where is your boy, calm before the storm… ohhhhhg my god i was living my absolute best life. there were songs that jen didn’t even know and i was screaming my little emo heart out.

it was incredible. i’ve missed concerts so much. and jen. i haven’t seen her since summer ended :(

i’m home safe now and feel so weird. my “old” life feels like so long ago… but it’s really a few months. uni is weird like that. i feel like i’ve known some of my uni friends for years.

A/N: Ahhh the last chapter and the last peek into Victoria’s and Liam’s lives! I was supposed to finish this series before Christmas but... better late than never, huh? I hope you’ll enjoy the epilogue!

“Li, you sure you don’t wanna come?”

Liam nodded, assuring his friends once again that he made up his mind and wasn’t going to change it.

Maxwell sighed. “As you wish. You’re gonna regret it though. I even wore my squid suit! The one that made Hana fall for me.”

“Hana never fell for you, Maxwell.” Drake rolled his eyes. “She just said it was a nice suit.”

“Whatever. She invited us to that party after all!”

Liam looked absentmindedly at his friends. Hana and the rest of the crew finished filming a week ago and they celebrated it with a big wrap-up party. She invited him and his friends but Liam didn’t feel like coming. Mostly because he still felt bad for almost firing Victoria from said movie. But also because she wasn’t going to be there. There was no point for him to go.

When Drake and Maxwell left, Liam went into his bedroom and opened his laptop.

It was almost four months since he saw and talked to Victoria. She went home right before Christmas and it was already March. To say he missed her every day, was an understatement.

Not much changed for him; Liam kept himself busy with work and all his duties. He knew Maxwell and Drake were worried about him but he kept telling them he was okay.

He allowed himself moments of weakness only in the night. He would google Victoria’s name and read what she had been up to. After leaving Cordonia, she set up her own blog and started her film critic career online. Maybe because of the scandal but mostly because she was very talented, she soon found a big audience and started being invited to different events, premieres and interviews. Liam was very proud of her and very happy for her. But reading all of that, made him miss her even more. The fact that she didn’t want to come to the wrap-up party, as well as the Cordonian premiere in a few months, was a clear proof she wasn’t thinking about him the way he thought about her.

Liam sighed as he saw an article titled: Victoria Brooks refuses to attend the premiere of ‘Cordonian Christmas’ in the light of the scandal.

Even though he explained everything what happened, he still was guilty of causing the scandal. He wasn’t surprised she didn’t want to come to Cordonia after all that happened. And he wasn’t surprised she didn’t want to keep in touch with him.

It was all his fault.

“Greetings from the wrap-up partyyyyy”

Victoria looked at the picture Hana just sent her. She and Maxwell seemed to have a lot of fun. Victoria even spotted Drake sipping on his drink. No sight of Liam, though.

Not like she would expect him to be there. Hana had told her that Liam avoided leaving the palace since… she left Cordonia.

Victoria blamed the scandal and all that negative attention that Liam got afterwards for his antisocial behavior but Hana straightforwardly told her that it was because he tried to get over her.

She wasn’t sure what to think about it. Were his feeling actually genuine? It wasn’t just a game? Was a King really… into her?

“Don’t go there,” Victoria warned herself. What happened, happened. It’d been almost four months since they spoke last. High time to move on.

So why did Victoria feel like there was something missing?

Liam was playing with his phone after checking his emails. He looked at his drafts folder and sighed seeing at lest fifty different emails he wrote to Victoria. Wrote but never sent.

He wondered if she thought about him. Even if just for a second.

“If she did, it would be pretty negative thoughts, I’m sure.” He thought to himself and put his phone away. It was pointless. No matter how bad he wanted to forget about Victoria, he couldn’t.

He still felt just as in love with her as he was four months ago.

Victoria was playing with her phone after reading comments under her newest blog post. She checked her emails but nothing new came.

What was she waiting for, though? For an email from Liam?

“He closed that chapter. You should, too,” she thought to herself as she put her phone away. It was pointless. No matter how bad she wanted to move on, she couldn’t.

For some reason, the butterflies she felt when thinking about Liam didn’t die even after those four months.

“It’s so nice to see you, Liam.” Hana smiled and greeted the King. He nodded and shook her hand.

“Likewise. I’ve heard the wrap-up party was a success.”

“It was… nice. We missed you,” she said and Liam could almost hear that silent and Victoria too but he didn’t say anything. It was his fault she couldn’t even come here.

“Maybe you could talk to him, Hana. He said he won’t come to the premiere!” Maxwell chipped in and Liam rolled his eyes. Hana’s face softened.

“You really should. I mean, I’ll understand if you don’t but it’d be nice to see you there.”

“I’ll think about it,” he promised. When Maxwell and Drake entered the throne room, Liam followed suit but Hana stopped him, gently grabbing his arm.

“Can we talk? Alone?” She added.

“Is something wrong?” His mind immediately wandered to Victoria. Did something happen to her?

“No… No. But… I wanted talk to you about Tori, if I may.” She started and Liam’s heart began to race. He nodded.

“I don’t approve of how you treated her with your lies and dishonesty. And I don’t blame Victoria for being upset with you and wanting to leave. But… I also know you regret it. And I know that you didn’t want to deceive her. Listen, Liam. I’ve known you for many years now and I know you’re a good person. We all make mistakes. And you… already redeemed yours. And I think Tori would agree.”

“I am really sorry for what I have done. Truly. If I could turn back time—” Liam started. Why was Hana bringing it up now?

“I wasn’t trying to make you apologize for something you’ve already apologized for. I’m just trying to ask… why did you give up on Victoria?”

Liam was taken aback. He gave up on her?

“I don’t think I understand… I didn’t give up on her… She left!”

“Yes, but that was four months ago. Even very stubborn people like Tori soften in that time.”

“What… are you getting at?” He was confused and Hana shook her head.

“I’m saying… if you really like her, which I see you do, you should’ve fought for her. She forgave you a long time ago and she misses you just as much.”

“She told you that?”

“She didn’t have to. I hear it in her voice and see it in her eyes every time we talk. Just like I see you still love her in yours.”

Liam stared at Hana. “You… think… I should—”

Hana chuckled. “When Cinderella left Prince Charming in the palace after the ball, he didn’t just accepted his fate and tried to move on. He started looking for her and fought for their future. Because he truly loved her.”

“And Cinderella’s two sisters lost their feet in the process,” he added absentmindedly.

“I see Tori educated you too on original fairytales?”

“Yes.” he smiled. Victoria had a bigger impact on his life than he even thought.

“Then why don’t you just go for her, huh? She doesn’t have any sisters so don’t worry about that part. Call her, message her. Fight for her! I’m sure she’s waiting for it, too…”

Liam stared at the ceiling, rewinding the conversation he had with Hana earlier that day. If Victoria really forgave him and was waiting for his sign…

Hana told him he should call or message her but Liam wasn’t sure it was a good idea. When it came to Victoria Brooks, he wanted to make it right.

And he could only hope it wasn’t too late.

Victoria hit enter and her newest post appeared at the top of the blog. She quickly turned off her computer and decided to go for a walk. It was her routine. After posting something, she was too scared to wait for people’s reactions so she always went for a walk.

“What you’re up to?”

Victoria marveled at the message Hana sent her. It wasn’t the fact that Hana messaged her because the two women kept in touch, but it was four in the morning in Cordonia and Tori wondered why Hana was up.

“Just went for a walk. Wbu?” She typed and the answer came right away.

“Where?”

Victoria frowned. What was going on with Hana?

“That little forest a few minutes away from my apartment. Why are you asking?”

“Nevermind, enjoy your walk!”

Now Victoria was concerned. She tried to call Hana but her phone was turned off. Or she simply didn’t want to answer her calls.

She was walking in the forest, trying to call Hana from time to time but without success.

“Fine! Be mysterious!” She yelled at her phone after tenth time Hana didn’t pick up.

“Is that what actresses do? Talk to themselves?”

Victoria turned so abruptly that Liam had to catch her. Her eyes widened at the sight of Liam, King Liam, in a little forest in her hometown.

“What—what are you doing?” she asked, still in shock.

“You visited Cordonian forests and I wanted to visit American,” he replied calmly.

“Ha ha. No one ever comes here. And how did you—” she narrowed her eyes. “Hana.”

“Don’t be angry with her. I wanted to make sure I’d meet you. Poor Hana, I had to wake her up in the middle of the night.”

“Why are you here?” She asked, her heart and mind racing. She couldn’t believe he was here. Here in America. Here, for her.

“To see you. To talk to you. To tell you how much I miss you. Victoria, I—I missed you so much. I never felt this way for anyone else. And I am so sorry it took me months before I finally came here to tell you that. I wanted to call you every single day. I’m still…” he paused for a moment. “I’m still very much in love with you.”

“Liam…” she felt her eyes started to water. “I missed you, too. And I’m sorry for what I said to you before I left.”

“No, you were right. I made a mistake. And I promise to never lie to you again. What was between us… was real. And I want that. If you’re still interested.”

Victoria swallowed hard and felt tears running down her cheeks. “I’m still interested.”

Liam smiled and extended his hand. “Hello. My name is Liam and I am the King of a small European country, Cordonia. I love Baklava and I’ve recently started reading Grimm’s fairytales. I still think they’re actually thrillers. In my free time, I like to go for walks. Four months ago, I fell deeply in love with the most amazing woman. And you?”

She laughed. “I’m Victoria and I’m a movie critic. I have my own blog. I used to be an actress but it wasn’t for me. I’ve never had Baklava but it sounds delicious. I consider Grimm’s fairytales better than their Disney’s adaptations. I once traveled to Cordonia and fell in love with their King. Nice to meet you.”

Liam’s face lit up and she threw her hands around his neck. She didn’t know how they would make it work, what it would look like dating a King, what the people would say but she didn’t care.

For the first time in her life, she felt like the main character in her own fairytale.

My old one was for a fandom I've never posted about, so I decided to pick one that reflects who I am. I'm an emo metalhead! Simple as that!!

I don't have any. It seems like too much work, and I don't mind just posting all of my interests on one blog. There's no theme here.

3. How long have you been on Tumblr?

I made this blog in 2019, but didn't regularly use it until like the end of that year or maybe early 2020.

Nope!! I don't like the queue, and I never use it, so no need for a tag.

5. Why did you start your blog in the first place?

I saw a bunch of gay Tumblr post screenshots on Instagram and Pinterest. Tumblr seemed like a safe place to be open about my identity.

6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp?

It combines two of the main interests of this blog!! Taylor and Nikki!! I'm a major Swiftie, so any icon I ever have here will 100% be her. This blog is dedicated to 80s bands in part, so having a pic of Nikki Sixx with Taylor just combines my interests so well!! Also I made the background pink because I love the color, and my prior icon was pink, so I wanted to stay consistent.

7. Why did you choose your header?

When I was still pretty new to the Guns N' Roses fandom, I fell in love with that picture!! I love their glam looks!! I edited the background pink to match my header. Like my icon, my header shows one of the main artists I post about!!

8. What's your post with the most notes?

I'm pretty sure it's my Twenty Øne Piløts post about what FPE has stood for in the last 3 eras. For sure that was my first post to break 300 notes, even if it's not currently my top note post. Seems on brand for me as a person, but definitely odd in terms of this blog lol.

Almost everyone I follow is a mutual. I did go through and count, but since the number is so close to how many I'm following, I don't want to say.

I apparently struck a nerve with someone and they blocked me. Just a tip dude, if you don’t like people arguing with you maybe you shouldn’t post on social media designed for reblogging, responses and rebuttles. You can still find websites that offer blogs with no comments.

But as I typed this all up i felt it worth sharing.

Pointing out similarities in ideas and actions between two group doesn’t mean I think one is equivalent to another. It means in some ways they are coming from the same place(doesn’t mean they’re going to end up in the same place) But I see you’re very good at putting words in other people’s mouths.

However you may think there’s a difference between a religious group attempting to ban a book over religious ideals, and people trying to force Ao3 to moderate to their standards, but I am going to ask what the difference is?

Also who is going to get to decide what counts as harmful/racist? I mean I get the feeling you’re something of a new-comer to this whole anti-shipping trend and aren’t aware of some of the context in history behind it.

Like the insanity of the Sherlock fandom where a contingent of people who really really preferred John topping Sherlock in their porn decided to accuse anyone writing Sherlock topping John as being pedophiles. There’s also the story that went around of a real life highschooler that was convince he had to break up with his significant other of several years because he had turned 18, but his partner hadn’t yet because him simply dating(not necessarily having sex with them) someone under 18 was pedophilia. (okay yikes)

And what about when you have people who claim that individual ships are inherently racist if you prefer them over a different ship. One example is from the Star Wars sequel trilogy where people tried to claim the Finnrose ship was inherently anti-black and racist and so people should ship Finnrey.

So again who will get to decide? And before you say, the minors, survivors, and minorities who don’t feel safe you should try to understand that’s not a winning trump card. An individual is not harmed merely by some piece of fiction existing out in the void. If they stumble on it without warning it can be upsetting, trigger pain, but that means them stumbling on it. Ao3′s tagging system does an excellent job at allowing people to not see what they don’t want to. There are a few tweaks and adjustment I wouldn’t mind seeing like a permanent exclude tags so I don’t have to constantly filter out specific tags.

I doubt that there is anything you can find on Ao3 that you would not also find examples of in any large public library

In the comics and graphic books section i found Sadistic Boy by tori maia, which contains examples of underage sex, adult/minor sex, rape, and incest(uncle/nephew iirc). As well as Bad teacher’s Equation which features a romantic relationship between a 16 year old highschool student and a 26 year old nurse who works at the school. Again this is the New York Public library, and I haven’t started looking at more of the books(although without Ao3′s tagging system it’s a bit harder to guess the contents with just the cover)

Is there any real reason you can think of why Ao3 should be held to higher content standards than the New York Public Library? I mean they’re both based in New York State, and go by New York State’s obscenities laws.

Also the relationship between fiction and reality, and the ability of various media to change and shape social norms is incredibly complex. Research attempts to discover how media can influence change, but that there’s both individual effects, social effects, and the effect can be different depending on if a person knows other people in their community have seen/heard the piece of media or not.

So keeping that in mind that fanfiction is still very much a niche hobby/activity and you’re unlikely going to find an entire community(of people who happen to be living in the same area definition) reading the same fic, Fanfiction’s ability to impact reality is pretty much non-existent compared to the latest offering from Disney, Warner Brother’s or Netflix.

I can have empathy for people who are uncomfortable or feel they are hurt when they see certain topics in fiction. However I wish they would try to have a little empathy for the people who find comfort and healing within that same topic. The solution is not censorship or people stop creating taboo fiction. The solution is right there in Ao3′s tagging, people who don’t want to see certain content can avoid it, people who do want to see certain content can find it. I’m sorry but I cam going to have a hard time finding sympathy for people who demand that everyone else cater to them and their feelings without a thought for anyone else's.

The Masked Singer Season 5 Episode 9: Spicy Six Time ft a disappointing elimination (Commentary & Thoughts)

Hello everybody! Welcome (or welcome back) to Ana’s Masked Singer recap, where I, Ana, recap every single episode of the Masked Singer. So, after a week off because of the sing-a-long episode (which I never recap because there isn’t anything new to talk about), we are into our spicy six (that’s a Cinco de Mayo thing) or should I say top 6? This is where things are getting tough because everyone is so good and tough eliminations. Anyways, let’s get into this episode because *spoiler alert* I am not very happy with the result...

Side Note: I am not including guesses here because I feel like it is a bit repetitive (if you are new, you can see some of my previous blog posts hehe... especially the last one I posted)

First, let’s begin with the elimination that I feel is the saddest of the season:

Robopine 😦😦

Commentary: He sang Water Runs Dry by Boyz II Men and it was beautiful! Like I understand I might have a bias for this guy because I love his voice and I think it’s butter... but I do gotta say the competition is stiff at this point of the show and people are really bringing it. However, come on guys, his voice is just stunning and emotional and ughhhhh why did he leave?! If you guys know my blog, you probably know that he is one of my favorites so this makes me super sad, I am now really hoping Black Swan wins it all

Having said that, he was revealed to be (as I suspected):

Tyrese Gibson

Yeah, wooo I got it right. Honestly, this was upsetting but when he said in his post show interview that Beyoncé didn’t win Star Search but she still Beyoncé made me feel a tiny bit better about this tho. Idk man these eliminations every season as the show is about to wrap, it gets sadder and more annoying every time when we reach this point. Anyways, yeah Tyrese! He sang amazing, he did THAT so like I guess it doesn’t matter at the end of the day. Oh and if you wanna understand how that last clue package relates to him, the person he lost was Paul Walker and the amusement park ride he was talking about was Fast and Furious, which has a ride at Universal Studios (which I have been on... it’s cool ngl, his face is on the ride and everything)

Anyways, moving onto our remaining five or how they called it in the previews the “fiesty five”...

1. Black Swan 🦢🖤

Commentary: Ok, so now that Robopine is gone, she is the sole person I am routing for to be in the finale at least (but I have heard some rumors about her this episode coming up tonight that I hope and pray are not true.. so this makes me nervous). In my ideal world, she can win it all. She sang Do I Do by Stevie Wonder and girlll be picking insane songs wow, but she be killing every last note. Her voice really is something special, I wasn’t too sure about her first performance, but she’s really proving herself omg. She is honestly a favorite of mine as you probably know.... because 1. Girl Power ladies and gents... but most importantly 2. IT’S FREAKING JOJO... LIKE THE GIRL WHO SANG “GET OUT (LEAVE) RIGHT NOW IT’S THE END OF YOU AND ME...” (if you know it, sing along) She got them pipes and I feel the same way about her as I did Tori Kelly last season, and to refresh your mind or let the new people know.... mark my words ladies and gents.... these girls are SOME OF THE BEST VOICES OF OUR GENERATION. There, I said it, drop the imaginary mic 🎤

2. Russian Dolls 🪆

Commentary: Ok guys, so my gut feeling isn’t my favorite thing in the world... but it tells me how this show is being set up that they might win this season. I like them, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t really think they deserve to win it all (but like at the end of the day, wtf is all? A trophy? Is that it?! Just think about that before you get annoyed... also a message to myself because oof this season has tested my patience). Anyways, they sang Shallow by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga and like always their harmonies are on point but this whole “let’s be 2 people and then surprise a 3rd person and then ohhh is there maybe a 4th, nope jk we are back to 2, oh wait nvm now we are 3 again thing” is getting annoying and aggravating. Let’s just be straight here: THERE ARE 3 PEOPLE UNDER THESE DOLLS... NO MORE, NO LESS... don’t let them mess with your head. It’s Hanson, point blank end of story... are they the best thing since sliced bread? Ofc not... but the show is really hyping them up and setting it up for them to win so a group can like finally win for the first time... which makes me flash back to the time Kandi won because she was a woman and they wanted a woman to win... like I am all about girl power but that was not the move. Just like if they win, this will also not be the move. Not because they are bad, but because there are better *cough* Black Swan *cough* 🤷🏻‍♀️

3. Yeti ❄️☃️

Commentary: I feel like Yeti is the most versatile of the singers, like he can sing, roller skate (still can’t get over that), dance, and now rap! I feel like he can really do it all and has a chance at being in the finale. He rapped It Takes Two and wow it was super fun to watch, it was hard to resist the urge to dance in your seat when you watch it. He really is super talented man.. he danced his little Yeti butt off and freestyled and everything wow. Everyone got super hyped, it was an awesome performance. He really brought the entertainment factor ngl. This is so Omarion, obviously, and I feel like he can do it all. He has a shot at the finals but we really gotta see what he decides to do in the next week or so.

4. Chameleon 🦎

Commentary: I am sorry to all the Wiz Khalifa fans and the rap fans in general, but he should have gone home this episode (actually, he should have gone home instead of seashell but that’s beside the point). He rapped a Busta Rhymes song (who fun fact: was also on the show last season and got eliminated 1st) and I gotta admit, it was his strongest performance, but I feel as opposed to everyone else, he isn’t as vocally strong. He can rap like nobody’s business and has got flow for days... but this ain’t the Masked Rapper... this is the Masked SINGER, guys, I can’t believe he actually has gotten this far honestly. If he doesn’t go home tonight, I am gonna be a bit upset ngl.

5. Piglet 🐷

Commentary: Alright, so Piglet reminds me so much of Crocodile, who I liked but I was very hot and cold about, because when he does certain songs, he knocks it out of the park, like the last performance he gave for the Spicy Six, where he sang Against All Odds by Phil Collins and it was one of his best performances. However, it’s only when he does love ballads that he shines, and I know it’s Nick Lachey and that’s how he is and all but like I feel like when he tries them upbeat songs, he falls flat a bit. Idk man I think ballads suits his voice more, or the upbeat songs he chooses are just not the right ones for his voice. Either way, I think he might go home next week in the semifinals.... I predict but you never know with this damn show.

Disillusionment

An election day reflection on Labour, history repeating itself and being disappointed but not surprised. 

‘If I lived then I would have stood up against the regime. I would have made a difference. I would have made a change.’

It’s hard, to come to terms with the fact that, in fact, I am doing none of the above. The most recent election has felt like such a big shadow hanging over many in our generation. Sometimes less like a shadow and more like a pigeon, flying over us, constantly threatening to shit all over us. And it feels like this time it has.

It seems that Labour have always had to fight harder than Conservatives to gain power anyway. Even in 1964 when Harold Wilson came to power, had 900 voters in 8 key constituencies voted Tory not Labour (or simply not voted) then Conservatives would have won. Despite the increasing unpopularity of the Tories in the lead up to the election- it followed a series of damaging scandals for the Tories (such as the Profumo Affair or the Vassal Affair), increasing economic problems, (such as unemployment reaching 800,000) and a rejection from the EEC (which ironically, was at the time seen as a testament to how weak Britain was as a country for the inability to join what would become the EU, how the turn tables table)- it was a closely fought election. Conservatives have also had longer runs in parliament-‘13 Wasted Years’ being the slogan for Wilson’s campaign in 1964, and then again a long lasting run from 1979-1997 under Thatcher and Major, adding up to 18 years before a Labour government would return to power under Blair and ‘New Labour’. Furthermore the times Labour have done well has been as a moderate Labour government that has expelled extreme left members in order to appeal to more of the electorate, including voters sympathetic to some Tory policies shifting the outcome to the left.

Admittedly, I write this following the Exit Poll, there are no ‘definite results’ yet, but deep down we know that’s a bit of an empty hope. And even as an eighteen year old with little political expertise, it still seems obvious to see ‘What Went Wrong’ for Labour.

Because it’s what went wrong in 1983. It’s what always goes wrong. And when it hasn’t gone wrong for Labour it has been when the exact opposite of what happened with Labour this time round has happened. It is time for Labour to understand that there is no place for a completely socialist Britain, and that the extreme left voters that they are pandering to have not got enough influence in our current political affairs. That we can still protect the NHS, still protect education, still decrease homelessness without taking on such an extreme stances that alienate many of the centre left and in many cases the centre right.

In 1983 Labour underwent a not dissimilar lurch to the extreme left under Michael Foot, who will no doubt be discussed a lot in the aftermath of this 2019 Election. The 1983 Election was the most decisive victory since 1945 when Attlee beat Churchill to become Prime Minister post-war. In this election both Foot and his policies lacked any appeal to anyone other than traditional and hardy left wing Labour voters. Moderates from the Party had split to form the Social Democratic Party two years prior to the election and the manifesto was described as the ‘Longest Suicide Note in History’ by Labour MP Sir Gerald Kaufman. Ultimately Labour had gone too far left to be able to present a viable and unified opposition to the Tories. Foot was forced to resign mere days following the defeat, and was succeeded, crucially, by Neil Kinnock, who went on to be Labour leader from 1983-1992.

(I’ve just got the update Blyth Valley has been won by Tories. The mining constituency. That has been Labour since 1950. Won by the Tories. It’s going to be a long night.)

Neil Kinnock was a key player for Labour’s revival by 1997. He expelled the extreme left members of the Labour party, and was focussed on moving Labour back closer to the centre, described by the BBC as being in ‘better shape than in 1983’ due to the fact he had ‘halted its leftward drift’. Kinnock recognised that it was not by being seen as The Socialist Party™ that Labour would regain electorate popularity. In fact, quite the reverse, and he laid the foundations on which Blair would build and which would see the worst defeat for the Conservatives since 1906.

Labour’s return from the extreme left saved their image and the party.

Which is why Richard Burgon, Shadow Secretary of State for Justice and Shadow Lord Chancellor’s most recent tweet has done nothing but worsen any hopes for the future. ‘Johnson must continue to be fought with radical alternatives’.

To think that Labour want to continue their ‘leftward drift’ is a chilling concept. Labour won in 1997 largely down to Blair’s reform of Clause IV (Clause IV of the Party’s 1918 constitution was the clause promising to nationalise British industry and seen as very left wing, the reform reassured the British public that this ‘New Labour’ were not a socialist Party, but rather a moderate centre-left party) and the contradiction to the Tory campaign that Blair and Labour were ‘socialists in disguise’.

There needs to be a return back from the extreme left course that Corbyn has set his party on.

And so in the face of one of the biggest political moments of my country in my life to date, I am sat in my bedroom, listening to the updates as they come in, writing a blog post. Disappointed but not surprised by how it’s unfurling. Coming to terms with the fact that, living through tumultuous times isn’t nearly as fun as it seems in the films.

Because it feels as though I am not the protagonist of this unfolding times. It feels, instead, that I am Extra No. 37. As though nothing I can do will make a difference. That there is nothing more I can do, having put that cross in that box this morning.

But we can do so much. Maybe we feel like Extra No. 37 because we’re in that stage of the film where nothing’s going right. It’s probably raining and there’s sad string music as we look out of the window thinking that we’re done. That we’ve run out of options.

As if we only had two options in the first place.

It’s like climbing Snowdon. So what we missed the train up. Now it’s harder, for sure. But there are still footpaths to get to the top. This way’s just harder.

But if we really want to get to the top, see our country through these times we gotta just put one foot in front of the other.

We can’t lose hope now. Not when there’s so much to lose. Not when we have so much to fight for. Now when people need hope.

OK, it sucks. It’s desperate. But we still have a voice, even if we feel like a dragonfly trying to make a point in a meeting of dragons.

We will be heard, one day.

Mods? Mods? Please tell us you're alive. I miss you alls hilarious hijinks & sweet well-meaning presence, with or without that bastard Yanderedev.

Of course we are! I have a couple things to say in relation to this.

On top of personal life getting in the way, I’m gonna be honest. We’ve sorta…done what we wanted to do. There are videos calling Alex out with hundreds of thousands of views and almost no dislikes. The majority of Yansim fans have the mentality of “I like the game, but the dev sucks.” I think it’s mostly because of his awful development process and showing his true colors through his videos ever since the whole gremlin thing, but in the least, people are staying away from him.

Are there still people who defend him to the ends of earth? Yes. But for every one of those people there are three who absolutely do not. 

I have college. I’m becoming an adult soon. No, the blog is not dead, but we’re also not going to become an echo chamber. A lot of things that needed to be said have been said. Of course we’ll still interact with you guys when we can, but in my case specifically, I have a whooooole slew of things going on that I won’t get into here, and on top of not having time, we’ve said what needed to be said, or others have already said it for us. We’ll update you guys on new stuff as much as we can, but Tori and I both have our own lives to take care of, and considering the state of our progress, it isn’t really a priority.

I am so, so proud of us. I haven’t been here since the beginning, but I was still here when the people who believed sisefs and thought Alex was both a scammer and dangerous were a small minority, and we really got nothing but anon hate with a few encouraging messages in between. I haven’t seen a single hate message in forever. And I’m glad we got it done before he started monetizing the game’s development and his server. 

We were one of the first, and we’re not the most popular, but I feel like we helped people. We get tons of messages thanking us for helping someone out of a dark place or dangerous situation or for just making people aware.

Man, these past few days have been an enjoyable experience for me. I don't even know where to begin! Oh, wait… I actually do. I think it’s best for me to break it all down day by day.

Friday

As previously mentioned, Thursday night marked the start of the mini-hiatus because Mom and I had to make sure we could catch our 6:55 AM flight to Nashville on time. Needless to say, we only got a few hours of sleep; however, thanks to us getting the caffeine from our colas and trying to nap on the plane, we were awake enough to explore the downtown Nashville area.

As you may have guessed, Nashville is a popular place for country music and a lot of the attractions in the Lower Broadway area is full of clubs and honky-tory bars. No matter where you go, day or night, there is always a bar where people perform country music live for the patrons.

Nashville also happens to be the place that harbors the Johnny Cash Museum, which was the first stop of the weekend.

As you can tell from the first image, this artifact was made entirely out of steel that was salvaged from the destroyed World Trade Center, which is where the One World Trade Center/Freedom Tower currently stands. The second image is a piece of memorabilia: the Martin D-35 guitar Johnny Cash used when he was alive as it was his favorite Martin guitar to play on stage for two decades.

Speaking of country music, Nashville had recently hosted this year's CMA Music Festival and Garth Brooks took home the award for Entertainer of the Year. I wasn't even sure if it was coincidental or not since this weekend in Tennessee was primarily about his concert, but I'll get on that later. In the meantime, another neat place we checked out was the Country Music Hall of Fame… well, specifically some of the gift shops.

Yes, one of the gift shops has a wall filled with nothing but records from all kinds of country artists.

Outside of the country-related sights, we also checked out a couple more places within the Nashville area like a local candy store called the Candy Kitchen. Everywhere you look, there were all kinds of store-brand and local candy, caramel apples, fudge, ice cream, etc. Combine that with the aroma of pure sugar and you end up either feeling like you've gone to candy heaven or your teeth ended up rotting because of how many sweets this place had.

They even have giant ass Dum Dum lollipops for crying out loud! Like, how the hell are you supposed to eat something that huge?!

Later that afternoon, we weren't sure what to do in Nashville between the bars, party tractors, and what not, mostly because we weren’t in the mood to check everything out due to the little amount of sleep we got. As a result, we did a bit of online searching and found a pretty cool mall not far from the state's capital.

Yep. That's right. That is what this mall is called. The name alone was enough to give me Sonic vibes and I'm certain y'all know why. Hell, they even had three parking lots each labeled emerald, gold, and ruby; I lowkey wished they added four more parking lots and have them named after sapphire, amethyst, diamond, and aquamarine just so it can keep reminding me of Sonic, you know? Specifically the seven Chaos Emeralds? ...*coughs*...

Anyways, that's kinda how Mom and I spent the rest of our Friday: having dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and poking at some shops they had before returning to Nashville to see what it was like at night. I will say this right now: they fucking love partying.

Saturday

The next day of the trip was mostly spent driving up to Knoxville for the Garth Brooks concert, which I was able to get a decent number of photos because it was crazy. When Mom got the tickets, she said it was going to be a stadium concert and I thought it was going to be similar to Taylor Swift's concert at Gillette Stadium in terms of crowds, but holy shit! Was I wrong! When you've got a college football stadium filled with 84,000 people attending, it's bound to get fucking cramped, so comparing both stadium tours, this easily takes the cake for the wildest concert I've ever been to thus far. Nevertheless, I still managed to have fun.

Because the Tumblr app—as far as I know—only allows 10 photos per post, I decided to condense some of my favorite photos I've taken for the rest of the trip into collages to try and satisfy the limit, but it appears I may have made more collages than I anticipated, so the rest of this post will be typed via laptop. To kick off the series of collages, here are some of my favorites pictures I’ve taken of Garth.

Sunday

Sunday was the last day of our weekend in Tennessee, so having done the stuff mentioned above, how did we spend the majority of yesterday? By driving through Sevierville and Pigeon Forge, with the latter being the home of Dollywood!

Before going on this trip, Mom and I discovered Dollywood wasn't far away from Knoxville, the same town where the concert at the University of Tennessee was held. She tried to figure out ways to make additional plans to go to Dollywood to see their Christmas traditions, but we ultimately chose to save it for another time because we wanted to make sure we arrived at the airport early enough to board.

On that note, what proved to be the icing on the cake for this trip was what Mom would call a happy accident: viewing the Great Smoky Mountain Range.

The collage with the light blue background is a portion of the several photos I've taken of the Great Smokies as we were driving through a road in Sevierville that offered wonderful views from the distance. The one with a wooden background is during our trek through the mountain range; on top of the photo of the national park sign, we made a few stops along the way because those stops had some marvelous views.

And now comes the pièce de résistance. The happy accident of this trip. While taking pictures of the views at the first stop, we noticed some buildings down below; a couple of them resembled hotels, but we weren't sure what the rest were. As we were leaving the mountains, we immediately entered what we saw from above: Gatlinburg.

We didn't take a lot of pictures there because we were too mesmerized with what Gatlinburg had to offer as we were driving through: shops, an aquarium, museums, ski lifts, hiking, and so on. Everywhere we looked, there was nothing but endless entertainment, just like Pigeon Forge! They are even all decorated for the Christmas season, and honestly, I definitely wouldn't mind spending Christmas in Gatlinburg in the foreseeable future. Renting a cabin, seeing what the resort has to offer, my sisters and brother-in-law joining with Mom, my brothers, and myself to celebrate the holidays. That would be super amazing. ☺️

It’s been quite a good weekend. I’m finally starting to feel physically better after the weeks of being bedridden. My mental health still isn’t good, but my physical health is improving. I still have some examinations hanging over my head, but I will deal with those when I really need to... I’m still pretty devastated after the result on Friday. Despite not being surprised it still hit hard and I felt down most of the day. I was super proud of Scotland and will be giving all my support to independence... there is zero point in going down with the sinking ship that is England.

Today I had a super lazy day. After getting in so late last night, feeling knackered and my feet feeling like they were ready to fall off - I slept in, thoroughly washed and cleansed my face, put on a face mask, watched today's episode of ‘The L Word: Generation Q’ and then tidied up. I always leave the place in an absolute disgrace whenever I go out at night. It was always the same when I used to go out every Friday night back home. I’d try on a million things and never be satisfied, clothes flying everywhere, make-up and shoes everywhere, and just a mess. So I tidied up, put things away, cleaned my bathroom from top to bottom after leaving it in a state after dying my hair the other day, and then listened to the ‘Frozen II’ soundtrack whilst writing my Christmas cards. In the back of my diary I have all the address’ of important people and today I scribbled out an address because I don’t even know that persons new address. I started faffing around on Google Maps trying to guess where they might live now from things they had told me about where it was, but of course, I don’t have an actual address so that was no use.

Then we got the news from K. The poor girl had been the only one there to deal with everything and A had been off playing badminton and leaving her on her own as he always does, which makes me so incredibly angry. I have no idea how she coped, what she did or how she dealt with it because I honestly don’t think I could have. I’m proud of her, but she had obviously been dealing with that all day and so didn’t really have time to talk. We will find out all the details tomorrow, but god knows what this means for her coming home. I think the whole thing is worse now, worse than I thought it could get. Super rough times ahead for both of them... and most likely us too. I spoke to R about it all and she suggested I go visit K but I’m really not sure about that. Things have changed a lot since she left and the environment she is living in is not quite what we had hoped for due to customs and their way of life... although all that may change drastically now. It is all so up in the air and we have no idea what will happen next.

Before we got all this news I had a really nice video-call with my mum and dad. We had a laugh and talked about lots of things which was great. We always have great calls at the weekend and hearing my mum's voice always cheers me up... even if just for the time I’m on the phone. J and I have started weekly calls which is great and I am loving so much. I miss him a lot so he calls my work phone once a week, usually on a Friday and we catch up, talk about work and non-work, laugh, joke and just talk like two old friends. I love it so much and feel so lucky that we want to keep in contact with me as much as I do him because usually, that’s not the case for me. The group chat with C and J was also going today, talking about food, diets and Christmas parties which was also really nice. Two Christmas cards will be in the post and off to Germany tomorrow!

I cannot believe it is only 10 days until Christmas Day. I have finished most of my shopping... online of course, but I have a couple of last-minute things to get which I will most likely get sorted through this week or at the weekend. When I wasn’t listening to ‘Frozen’ today I’ve been listening to my mum's favourite music just to keep myself upbeat and not fall into my usual depressed weekend mood. 

I’m still in love with my apartment. I just love it so much. I love the space, I love the huge closets and having my own little space. I cannot wait to start getting furniture once I finally get my installation allowance... another thing I need to follow up AGAIN tomorrow. I’ve also run out of my anxiety medication which is ready to be collected from the pharmacy near work and has been since last Tuesday, but because medication costs a fortune here I don’t currently have enough money to even pay for it!!!! No wonder people just go without here, and thanks to the absolute idiots that voted Tory last week it will not be long before the UK ends up with a similar situation. (Regardless of the lies they are telling that the NHS is not for sale.)

Complete side not, but currently, the lounge/dining area in my apartment is just a huge open space so I decided to do a cartwheel for literally no reason and nearly took my arm out of its socket because I haven’t done them for so long. Idiot.

I never really blog about music for how passionate I am about it. I have mentioned before that I sing, too. I’d love music even if I couldn’t sing though. Anyway, everyone loves finding new music, right? I’m gonna tell you my most listened to artists and songs on my Spotify. First, I’ll tell you how I found this data. I found this question forum on this link: https://www.quora.com/Is-there-a-way-to-see-my-most-played-artists-songs-in-Spotify. You’ll see in the answer that there’s Spotify.Me or there’s ManageMyMusic to see your most listened to stuff. Spotify.Me is intricate and gives you information like your favorites, streaming habits, and listening insights. Apparently, what I listen to the most is considered to be a bunch of different types of “pop.” I don’t know if I agree with that. They also tell me that “I know what I want” because 84% of my favorite artists are within my most-listened to genre. That I can agree with. It says I’m high energy lately in my streaming choices, but I don’t see it. I have been choosing really chill music, in my opinion. Honestly, the first 5 tracks do surprise me a little, but that was back when I had my music on constantly when I was single and home alone quite often. I remember keeping those on repeat for hours at times, so I’m not sure how accurate that actually is only because of that fact. This was all super cool to see, though. Some of it was expected, some unexpected. Either way, I hope I gave you some new stuff to listen to! And you should check out for own profiles. Nice opportunity to learn a little about yourself.

This past weekend, it was pretty warm out. Baby and I wanted to get Nugget a sprinkler so I took the little one with me to the store aaaaand they were sold out. Due to all the warmth. So I bought Nugget some water guns instead. We got 2 smaller ones and 2 larger ones for THIRTEEN DOLLARS, TOTAL. YEAH. This s’mom was shocked by that price, that’s for sure. We played and sprayed when we got home. Baby and Nugget had some fun together. The first thing Nugget did when we filled his gun though was spray me right in the (get ready) vagina. Yes. Then he yells, “I’M SPRAYING YOU IN THE PARTS.” I was like, “Uhhhhh, let’s not spray anyone’s parts and also let’s talk about anyone’s parts. It’s not polite and those are private” LOL. He’s never said anything to me about private parts or anything so that was new to me. He walks into my room when I’m changing a fair amount of the time and I know for a fact he’s seen more than I meant him to, but he has never asked questions, pointed anything out, etc. I think it’s important to set an example for your children in the sense to be comfortable with their bodies and such. This might be a whole new chapter with Nugget! We will see. Enough about my “parts” and back to the water guns. Baby said that on one of the weeks that we don’t have Nugget, that he wants to do a water gun race with me. I got 2 free beach balls from Sprint when I got a new phone last week (among a ton of other free shit, which I'll tell y'all about soon) and Baby said we should see whoever can get the beach ball across our backyard the fastest by spraying them with the water guns. I honestly think that sounds more fun than any idea I've ever had LOL. It reminds me of when I almost bought us both Nerf guns. So, if things are little mundane (or even if they’re not) maybe you and your love should find your inner children together! Get water-balloons and have a water-balloon fight, chalk up your driveway, set up obstacle courses, have a scavenger hunt! You can make it interesting by making fun deals. Whoever loses has to make dinner, for example. I think we will try all of these ideas eventually.

Speaking of shopping with Nugget, I am in the process of teaching him about not asking for toys every time we go. Baby went through a break up after a 3 year relationship before we was with me. He told me that he felt awful that Nugget no longer had two people raising him and Baby made up for that by buying Nugget toys every time they went to the store. I could tell there was a reason why Nugget would ask like clockwork what toy he would get every time we went shopping. I have been working on breaking Nugget of that expectation, as well as working on having him appreciate the things he has at home. I explain to him Daddy and I only have a certain amount of dollars and that its usually only enough to buy what we needed from the store in the first place. He actually understands this concept very well. He always asks why we are going to the store, so I always have the opportunity to tell him what we need to buy. When we went to buy the sprinkler he asked me, "Can we get a toy from here?" and I replied with, "Buddy, remember what we came here for?" He answered correctly about buying a sprinkler. I said in a very positive tone, "Yep and I'm pretty sure we only have enough dollars for a sprinkler. And you also have a bunch of toys at home that you love to play with." We walked by a few things that piqued his interest. As we walked by some bubble-guns, he goes, "Oooh, those look fun. But we only have dollars to get the sprinkler." I was so proud of him for making this connection and also proud of myself for explaining it to him so that he really does understand this. I was raised by people who didn't explain things. It was always a "because I said so" type of world and I learned to accept it. I won't put Nugget in that world, though. I want him to recognize reasoning and be able to grasp why things are the way they are. He is incredibly intelligent and capable of knowing this information. I also want him to trust me and be honest with me as we grow together, so the first step is me trusting him and being honest with him first.
