It's been a while since I looked at flowers so here are Marauders era characters as plants:

James Potter: Sunflowers since he's commonly associated with the sun. Or delphinium for positivity and a big heart!

Sirius Black: Ivy, the common ivy, or English or European ivy. It's a symbol of loyalty and fidelity. Fits enough for me.

Remus Lupin: Wolfsbane. Believed to repel werewolves, and it's used in a potion in the Wizarding World. But if we want a less angsty plant there is also the tropical white morning glory. It's also known as a moonflower and symbolizes the ability of beauty to emerge in dark times, and is used to provide hope.

Peter Pettigrew: Burgundy dahlias for betrayal, for obvious reasons. But also purple hyacinths for a desire for forgiveness. Cuz I'm hell bent that Peter was regretful of what he did in canon

Lily Evans: I'm not gonna give her lily, that seems a little too obvious lol but, peonies! They symbolize love, honor, happiness wealth, romance, and beauty. Which yk, works well in my eyes

Mary Macdonald: Poppies for remembrance of the death and consolation. It's based on the headcanon she obliviated herself sometime before to during the first wizarding war because everything was getting too much for her. Also, poppies are used to create opium, which relieves pain. It's pretty sad ngl, that hc always gets me.

Marlene McKinnon: King Protea, it's very sharp-looking flower that symbolizes strength and resilience. Not much info is given about Marlene during the war except her entire family was wiped out, but given her personality in fanon. I imagine she put up a hella good fight. I would give this to Dorcas but I have another one for her.

Slytherins! (Including Pandora!)

Regulus Black: Thorns! Rose thorns mostly, but just thorns in general. From what I read, rose thorns show adversity and sacrifice. Regulus had the misfortune of being born into a family with shit views and never having a morally correct input his entire life and he basically sacrificed his life to bring down the Dark Lord. Thorns are always ways for a plant to deter herbivores from eating them, take that as you will!

Barty Crouch Jr: Bleeding hearts, cuz yeahhhh, everlasting love? Unrequited love?? Tragedy compacted into one. His daddy issues too?? Him pleading for his dad to love him?? HIS MOTHER GIVING UP HER LAST MOMENTS FOR HIM??? EVAN AND REGULUS???? CMON CMONNNNN

Evan Rosier: Venus Fly Trap for persistence. This man was not willing to end up in Azkaban and took Moody's fucking nose with him. Venus fly traps are also known to die right after digestion aka eating a fly so it fits! (I LOVEEE carnivorous plants)

Dorcas Meadows: Laurel leaves for victory and achievement. Specifically, laurel leaves in a wreath. I think it's neat since she was powerful enough that Voldemort had to kill her himself. Mf was takin them out one by one until Voldy decided she was too op. LOVE HER FOR THAT

Pandora Rosier: Not the most hottest flower (lol), but the amaranth, while it could also mean everlasting last love, but it also means hopelessness or hopeless love. This only really works if you see Pandora as a seer. Something I think is interesting is the fact that fate is fate, it's sealed and final, and there is never a way around it. If you try to get around fate, you walk right into it because you never a chance. Pandora as a seer would've saw her friends and classmates dying and can't do anything about it because fate is sealed from the very beginning. It's hopeless.

Two days before he might have fought off dementors from Privet Drive, Harry meets a werewolf. It goes less smoothly than he might expect. The ensuing custody battle and full moon transformations, on top of his OWL year and a brewing war— well, he never expected that to go smoothly at all.

This fic is my baby (and will probably take 18 years to finish at the rate I'm going 😅). Disabled Harry and Remus, fraught parental relationships, making OotP worse somehow, it's got all sorts of fun.

He softly recited the last words he heard (Y/N) say to him. He did this day after day, night after night until the days slowly faded into each other. The one thing that kept him sane was trying to picture his face, the last few draining months was spent trying to figure out what colour his eyes were. He couldn’t remember anymore.

“No… That’s wrong. They were brown. Nono. Blue. Fuck. Green?” He mumbled to himself as he stared at the grey walls, if he continued he may start crying. His memories felt so distant, he wasn’t sure what was night or day anymore. He just wanted to remember him, exactly how he was.

“(E/C)!” He shouted out to nobody, he closed his eyes once again. He remembered. It was enough for him, made him feel warm inside as he remembered staring into them that last night. If he knew what was to take place the next day, he would’ve stared longer, harder. He imagined (Y/N) had little wrinkles now, gorgeous thin crinkles in his eyes. He never stopped smiling, even on the darkest day. Probably lines across his forehead from worrying about him. He wished he didn’t make (Y/N) worry as much as he did.

“Haunted by the ghost of you” He whispered as he sunk to the floor of the cell, feeling the cool ground soothe his aching body.

He played his memories like a movie on repeat, watching his love sleep, running around Hogwarts, dancing to his mixtapes, laughing at his stupid jokes.

He wished he wasn’t so stupid, wished he didn’t waste his life away, didn’t look at him more. He could almost feel his hands holding (Y/N)’s cheeks again, just out of reach. Always just out of reach. He wanted to rub more circles around his knuckles, drink more beers with him, watch more movies. He thought about how many movies (Y/N) must’ve seen by now. He wondered if there was a new Stars Wars. Wondered what Freddie Mercury was up to.

“Don’t forget to buy the milk!” He could almost hear him, he wished he had bought the milk that day. So he could make that cake for his birthday, his favourite cake. (Y/N)’s cake.

He also wondered how Remus was, he wondered a lot looking at the full moon. He was glad he wasn’t alone, he would’ve hung himself in this god forsaken cell if Remus was alone out there. He hoped they looked after each other, and didn't drift apart.

“I had all of you and then most of you. Some and now none of you.” He cried out, as he now tried to remember your hair colour. It was so hard to think in here, days and weeks and months passed so slowly yet too fast to count.

He stared at the ceiling now, it felt cruel to have a small window. That was the real torture, a small window too far from reach yet he could see the night sky. Recall the constellations he memorised a long time ago, had it been years? Maybe. He wasn’t even sure.

“Would you check the mail?” He said again. He didn’t check the mail that day either, stupid selfish asshole, he thought. He should’ve listened more. Thought more.

He moved to the small iron bed, laying on it with his arms wrapped around himself. Imagined (Y/N) whispering sweet nothing into his ear. He wished he whispered more sweet nothings back.

“You look beautiful, all the time” He whispered to him softly, rubbing his knuckles as he once did. It was the one thing that kept him sane. Rubbing his knuckles like he was there.

“Take me back to the night we met” He sighed, small tears falling onto the gross mattress. He sniffed loudly, looking at the small window above him. He wondered if (Y/N) was looking at the sky too, you could probably see the moon up there. Moony healing from wounds he got a few days before, drinking tea.

“One day, my love.” He held himself comfortingly, rubbing his back. He would go back to see his face again, even if it killed him. Memorise all the new features of his face.

Of all the things he could possibly wish for, he just wished to be back in his arms. Fighting over who did the dishes or why there was no toilet paper. He also wished Peter Pettigrew was beaten to death and thrown in a pauper’s grave, but that was next on the list.

Note: The Magic In Those Eyes is a fic I've been working on for years, but hasn't been updated in a very long time. I do intend to finish it. The fic is very trope-ridden and cliche at times. And there are LGBTQ+ themes that are handled poorly at one point but with no bad intentions, simply a lack of knowledge that has since been corrected. I may eventually get around to rewriting it, but I'm trying to finish the fic before I go back and make any changes to it.

What made Sirius Black ‘good’?

Sirius Black, aka Padfoot and Snuffles (by the golden trio when he was in hiding in GOF), is Harry Potter’s godfather and James Potter’s best friend. As his family is recognized by most of us as conservative and orthodox, we feel that Sirius was right in being a rebel.

Many of us also support some other views. These say that although he did the right thing to escape his parents’ stigma, some of his other actions were not justified, and he is labelled as good only because he was sorted into Gryffindor. That was necessarily not the case.

We know that cannot rely on Hogwarts houses alone to decide whether a person is good at heart or not, and we have some pretty good examples like Peter Pettigrew, Gilderoy Lockhart, Draco Malfoy and Scorpius Malfoy. But……

…being sorted in Gryffindor signifies that he is different from the rest of his family. Being sorted in Gryffindor signifies that he has a chance to start anew, which would have been difficult if he was in Slytherin, shadowed by the rest of his family and being burdened by their views. Being in Gryffindor gave him the chance to be away from them and hence be free from the family pressure.

Speaking of family pressure, we can see how much pressure Sirius was in from his family for being in Gryffindor by the permanent sticking charm he put on every decoration in his bedroom. He was also constantly reminded that Regulus was a much better son, and, knowing his family, it probably wasn’t just subtle hints and taunts, but something much worse, otherwise he would not have been forced to run away at the age of 16.

Sirius was depicted as good because of his actions. He was of absolutely caring towards his loved ones, even willing to sacrifice his life for them. We see that by many of his actions and decisions throughout the books.

He became an animagus just to keep his friend, Remus Lupin, safe during the full moon. And we all know that animagus transformations can go horribly wrong.

He changed James and Lily’s secret keeper at the last moment, because he knew that someone from their side was a double agent and that Voldemort knew that he was their secret keeper. Therefore, he figured that the dark side will come searching for him and took his precautions accordingly, even if they backfired.

He broke out of Azkaban just because of the picture he saw in the newspaper, and figured out ONLY BY THAT ARTICLE that Harry was in danger, by realising that the rat, i.e., Peter Pettigrew, was heading back to Hogwarts that year and that he would be in perfect position to attack once he heard that the dark side was gathering power again. He breaks-in Hogwarts for the very same reason.

He came down all the way from Azkaban (northern seas) to London JUST TO SEE HARRY, not to talk to him or explain to him, before starting his travels BACK NORTH (Scotland), knowing that Harry will arrive at Hogwarts soon.

In the GOF, he RETURNS NORTH, after having fled South at the end of POA, leaving his safety and risking getting caught by the dementors, just because he got to know that the dark side was getting stronger again and Harry was in danger. He RE-ENTERED HOGWARTS after the third task to ensure Harry’s safety.

He set off to recruit the Order of the Phoenix while he was still a wanted criminal.

He gave Harry the two-way mirror after Snape declared that he was going to teach Occlumency to Harry, and offered to come to Hogwarts YET AGAIN, knowing all about Umbridge and the tightened security.

He went to the MINISTRY OF MAGIC, just because Harry went there in a rush to save him(Sirius) and now was in mortal danger, where he lost his life. His final actions were to protect Harry!

Now, we say that his behaviour towards Snape was not justified, but Snape was equally guilty, carrying his childhood grudge into adulthood, obsessed with putting Sirius back in Azkaban, even though the latter was able to provide the true version of events WITH EVIDENCE. Snape did not lay him off in OOTP even though they were on the same side. We can say that Snape’s behaviour in POA was because he loved Lily, and was wild at Sirius for betraying her, but that is no reason to subject ANYONE to such a terrible fate like a dementor’s kiss.

Anyways, I am just here to put my view forward, not to be a critic.

meet peter pettigrew, the street rat of the marauder crew

peter was left in the orphanage by his mother for reasons unknown, but the most likely being that she had him out of wedlock and keeping him would ruin her reputation. it was far from being prestigious or even particularly well run, the children were mostly left to their devices, except when they were “being naughty”, then the workers took delight in doling out punishment

his birth/dead name was annie, it’s the only part of his biological identity that he knows anything about, and he only knows it because of the hastily scribbled note that was tucked into his blanket when he was abandoned: ‘take care of annie’. he knows it’s not a guarantee that his mother was the one who wrote it or that his name really is annie, but given that not beliving in it would result in him having absolutely nothing to point to his coming into being, he would rather jump to all the conclusions.

the name peter he’d taken from the bible, as he used to use in the church late at night as refuge, his surname pettigrew he had gotten from a passing englishman and he’d adopted it because of his desire at the time to be anywhere but new york. he’d even given himself a middle name, andrew, because he thought that having two “male” names would further emphasize that he was very much masculine... it’s a hard era to live in

even from a young age, he already knew that his gender identity didn’t conform to what was expected of him, and it caused the conflict that eventually saw him leaving the orphanage. it was fine for a while, dressing up the way that they told him to, doing his hair up (he used to have long, curly hair that went past his shoulders) the way that they told him to, all in the hopes that someone would want to adopt him, but it all came to a head when he was six and he found out that he was on the verge of being adopted. which wouldn’t have been a problem if it wasn’t for two things: 1) he was going to be adopted by a family outside of new york and he didn’t want to leave the city, and 2) the family wanted a daughter because all they had were sons, and peter didn’t have the heart to be a disappointment to them. he reached this breaking point where he just cut off all his hair to ruin the appeal of adopting him (he had a clean record before then), and he was punished for it. he didn’t know if it was enough to break the adoption though, so he left a few days after and was living on the streets ever since.

he went to jail at one point because of a particularly vindictive man whose wallet he nicked, only to find out that he didn’t even that much money to begin with, and the man relentlessly pursued peter being punished to “teach him a hard lesson”. it was hard for him, particularly because of his gender, and because of the experience, he tries to err on the side of caution. it doesn’t help that some... law enforcement officers don’t really like him, but he doesn’t like them either, so at least it’s mutual

he met james potter after he stole mr. rich boy’s wallet and it’s been a wild ride ever since, from being introduced to sirius and remus, to doing bootlegging with them now in the name of “helping remus”. of the marauders, peter is the most apprehensive about what they’re doing, and he thinks it’s because he’s the one who has actual experience with the wrong side of the law and what is at stake if they get caught

CONNECTIONS

james potter: gOD DON’T GET ME STARTED i’ve ranted a lot about my perspective on peter’s relationship with james. on the one hand, he loves the man, they’re brothers, he wouldn’t have gotten into something as dangerous as bootlegging with complete trust in everyone involved... on the other, it’s hard for peter to ignore how the differences in their social standings affects their views on what they’re doing. like seriously, james, you’re loaded, just help remus and call it a day. peter has some contempt for rich people and their pursuit of more wealth when there are a lot of struggling poor in new york... and james is, unfortunately, part of that. talk to me later i’m stressed

remus lupin: he will die for remus, he will do what it takes to help remus. remus is the primary reason that peter is in this line of work, and his love for them is what makes him feel responsible that he has to do his part to pitch in. peter resents being poor because he can’t give a lot to remus, and bootlegging is a viable option to get enough for himself and remus, it’s a tough reality to reconcile with himself. there’s an added layer to their relationship because they come from the same standing, from not having a lot, and he doesn’t want to reach a point where they go too far and remus is placed in a worse position that he already is in

sirius black: honestly? peter can’t help but think sometimes that it’s their friendship with james that sparked the idea in james’ head to get into bootlegging, and it’s... lol. cause now here’s a friend who left their family to get into... the same business that they were in. same with james, peter is a little apprehensive of the group’s stated reasoning that they’re doing this for remus, when it feels like there’s also a bigger, much more personal reason driving both james and sirius aka james is in it for the thrill and sirius is in it to get back at their family? he loves sirius a lot but he’s also very pragmatic in his view of their problem where he’s just like... ok you got out maybe don’t go back in? it’s tough

amycus carrow: lol who knows. he’s the target. peter doesn’t know what happened, how he went from playing nice and slightly flirting at a bar to gain amycus’ trust, to the two of them back in his apartment, having long talks, sleeping in the same bed. what’s worse is amycus is the only other person who knows his big secret, which... should probably worry him, but it doesn’t? maybe cause amycus doesn’t know he’s a marauder lol but most days peter also tries to pretend that amycus isn’t a death eater so maybe it’ll all work out.... not

emma vanity: THE STRUGGLE IS REAL OKAY he loves her and he hates her in equal meaasure, which maybe is testament to how much he... does love her? lol this isn’t a romance novel. it’s hard to accept that someone can go from being your partner in crime, someone who understands how hard life on the streets is, to spitting in your face and denying your existence, your relationship, your personhood. he’s glad she got out of the streets, but since, to him, it came at the cost of her soul, he can’t be completely happy for her

OTHER THAN THESE FORMED RELATIONSHIPS i would love to plot out other things with peter. i still love mirroring his canon storyline in hp where he’s the weak link of the marauders. he won’t betray them, but he’s thought of leaving behind their bootlegging. he works hard to maintain his covert identity, so he doesn’t get immediately fingered as part of the marauders. maybe someone else that he’s pickpocketed? or someone that he’s helped? he sidelines with small shops who are familiar with him and give him odd jobs so he gets some money. i dunno i’m terrible with wanted connections

Harry Potter and the Cursed Plotholes

So, obviously there will be spoilers for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in this post/rant. If you have no wish to be spoiled, stop reading now and scroll away.

First off I would like to preface by saying that I've seen the play twice now so I have a pretty good idea of what happens in it. Once in London (2017) and again in Melbourne a couple weeks ago (2019), and though I own the script I haven't read yet. However I have read this lovely version of it. They took the script and wrote it as a novel without removing any of the original script and incorporating somethings in to connect the scenes ad plausibly as possible. Anyway, I like the play. It's fun to watch and the music and sound effects and such are amazing. Scorpius is the best and I adore him. That isn't to say I don't have major problems with the story itself. We all know there are many many many plot holes and that Rowling didn't write it herself, but she does consider it canon to the series which is annoying because it breaks rules set in the previous Harry Potter books. I have a few points I have the most issues with.

I dedicate this rant to @onehealer to whom I ranted with about this for an hour through DM's.

So firstly: Fidelius charm who?

In the final act, Scorpius and Albus can see the potters house even though it's under the fidelius charm. They've never been there before, Harry tried multple times to take Ablus it seems but was turned down, and only read about it in books at most.... does that count as them knowing the Secret? No, it doesn't otherwise people who knew the address of the home before the charm was cast they would know. It can be excused that Delphi technically was never shown to have known where the house was, only knowing they were in Godrics Hollow... which also goes with the fact that knowing the address in the future meant nothing. Imagine Voldemort pulling out a phone book to find their address and suddenly being able to see their home. It also seemed like she didn't want to go after the Potters herself, she was only there to get to Voldemort first. So that's fine.

The issue is that somehow the two boys were able to see through the charm. And going with this vein, how did Ron, Hermione and Draco see as well? Literally only Harry should be able to see the Potter home because he was part of what the charm was protecting and thus knew the Secret, even if he was only a baby at the time.

Time travel should not negate the charm, why would that work? The charm is still active in the time they currently exist in, and this is an ancient, powerful and complex spell too.

"Maybe they knew because Harry told Albus about it." Sure, that could have worked, but it doesn't. When the Secret Keeper dies, anyone who was told the Secret becomes a Secret Keeper (Because you can originally choose more than one), so when Peter Pettigrew died, at the very least Harry would have the Secret. Probably Dumbledore and Sirius too, at least. But the problem with that is that the Fidelius charm was broken the night Lily and James Potter died, thus there was no longer a Secret. How else would the location become common knowledge in the Wizarding World? There's a monument to the Potters for crying out loud. People visited to pay their respects to them. So, Albus was never told the Secret because there wasn't one any longer.

There's literally no way anyone but Harry should have been able to see the Potter home. Even giving it some rope, they shouldn't have been able to see the house until Harry points it out to them, aka tells them where it is, because it could be argued that he could technically give out the Secret, having been part of it originally, but even then he wasn't a Secret Keeper and from how I understand it, just because you knew the secret didn't give you the ability to tell anyone unless you're a Secret Keeper.

The worst part about this plot hole is that not only is it massive, the plot of the story relies on it's existence to progress. Sometimes plot holes can be forgiven, but when the story relies on their existence? Especially such an enormous one? No, just no.

(As a little aside, I just want to bring attention to the fact Scorpius and Albus somehow made their way from Hogwarts, in the Scottish Highlands, to Godrics Hollow in less than a day. That's a long way, not to mention they had no wands, no food, no money, no sleep, no warm clothes and probably not wanting to risk talking to any wizards for fear if changing the timeline or accidently finding a Death Eater. There's also the fact Scorpius had just been Crucio'd at least 3 times in the last hour. Kudos to Scorpius for managing to get there with Albus, hot damn.)

Second, Wtf Albus?

Seriously, wtf. Don't get me wrong, I do like Albus but he's definitely a spoiled/ungrateful little brat at times, with as Scorpius puts it, a chip on his shoulder.

The thing I, well I wont say hate because i do like his character but it's close enough, most about him is his decision to go back and save Cedric in the first place. Like its a nice thought, but dude, why?

Why does Cedric deserve to live more than literally anyone else Voldenort killed? What makes him more deserving of you risking everything to go back and save?

Why does a 17yr old who signed up for a tournament that is known to have resulted in the deaths of its competitors many times in it's history, deserve to live more than all those 11-17 year olds killed at Hogwarts trying to flee or fight? All the adults who fought and died in the battle? All those people killed during either war? A lot of people who died because of Voldemort didn't sign up to put themselves in danger.

If it's about some semblance of a connection, of which there really isn't any in this case, what about Fred? Your uncle? Someone your uncle George probably still dies inside over? I mean he even gave up their joke shop to Ron, possibly to avoid memories of the twin brother who died?

Why does some kid you have no connection to other than his dad blaming yours for killing him when he literally had no way of knowing what the fuck was going on until he was already dead?? Why does he deserve to live more? I don't get it.

And then he blames Harry for Cedric's death like he had any chance to prevent it? Dude, seriously, he was the SAME AGE as you are now when this happened, I'd fucking like to see you do better??

Another thing I dislike is that Albus is never really able to experience the consequences of his actions and what could have happened. Because, you know, he stopped existing and Scorpius had to deal with it on his own.

There's also the way he treats Harry but I'll get to that in a sec.

Harry was doing his best, honestly he was. He sometimes seems a little out of character, but even still. I understand why he could be seen that way. We know he's under a lot of stress from his work at the Ministry, especially since it's to do with creatures that sided with Voldemort that are going missing or whatever. Then there's the nightmares involving Voldy and his scar hurting again after years of nothing. Stress, lots and lots of stress.

Then there's Albus. Harry has trouble understanding his son, he's not easy like James and Lily. Which is fine. But the problem is that Harry tries his best to reach Albus but he's never met halfway.

Albus seen my to refuse to believe anything but hero propaganda about Harry and his life at Hogwarts, and seems to have ignored literally anyone in his adult family who says differently. He doesn't seem to grasp to suffering and trauma that Harry has and grew up with, and scoffs in the face of it. Harry isn't perfect, but he's a good dad trying his best with a child who is frankly quite ungrateful.

Albus was being a little fucking spoiled brat to Harry and the poor dude was probably at his wits end with the one kid of his he didn't truly understand and who went out of his way to hate on everything Harry did and went through in his life. Like I said, Harry was under lots of stress from his job and so of course he would snap, anyone would, and say something they regret when provoked. Especially when you're trying your best to connect with your kid, even if it's not going great it's still an effort to do so, and then your kid just out and out says he wishes he wasn't your son? I think a lot of people would retort with something similarly hurtful. Harry immediately regrets it but both parties have been hurt so Albus storms off.

It's very annoying that everyone else in the play seems to be blaming Harry for Albus hating being his son and running off / running off to do something stupid. He was very obviously doing his best even though Albus was giving him nothing to work with. And for some strange reason people seemed to think Harry was in any way popular in 4th year? Like seriously people, where the fuck did that idea come from? Everyone hated Harry in his 4th year lol. Albus must be getting his info from a source as credible as Rita Skeeter if that's the case, that or every character magically, ha, forgot what really happened.

I also get annoyed at how they deal with the first alternate timeline. The first time they mess with time, Hermione and Ron never get married, Ron marries and has a son with Padma Patil and Albus ends up in Gryffindor. Harry proceeds to force a separation between the two boys for Albus safety, having been told there was a "black cloud" around his son. Of course the only person Albus hangs out with is Scorpius, and assuming events happened the same they had just jumped off the Hogwarts Express and gone missing for a bit, and assuming they had the same argument where they both say they wish they weren't the father/son of the other person, then it makes some sense what Harry does. Also, it's an alternate timeline.

But Scorpius tells Albus none of the events in Harry's life changed, so it seems like their meddling didn't change him. At all. I'm sorry, what the actual fuck? Scorpius I love you but no.

Just because the events stayed the same doesn't mean Harry personally wasn't changed in many small ways. There are people and life changing events erased from his experiences. His two best friends never got married and had kids, because Ron never got jelous over Hermione being Krums Yule Ball date. You trying to tell me that Ron and Hermione becoming different people with entirely different personalities didn't have any effect on Harry what so ever??? Bullshit. Like this was a direct and very significant change in his personal timeline and history, I refuse to believe this didn't change him. Hell, he might not even enjoy his job. Hermione isn't Minster for Magic so who knows whether the Ministry was properly freed of corruption and what polices and changes no longer exist, and what new ones might. So many little things that build up and shape someone's personal experiences and shape their personality.

I don't remember if it was ever directly addressed, but I think it was mentioned at the end of the play, but it says/implies(?) that Harry would have separated them and launched an investigation into Scorpius' parentage in the original timeline as well as the alternate one? I don't know if I believe that, and it's unclear if certain things still happened for everyone other than the boys because the changes the boys made were prevented later on when Scorpius is in the alternate universe where Harry was killed.

Another small aside, thank fuck for Scorpius. When he snapped and said something along the lines of "Oh poor little Albus Potter with his chip on his shoulder. At least your dad will always be your dad, mine won't be because everyone wants to tell me it's Voldemort. They want to tell me my poor sweet dead mother was such a monster to have a kid with him." Like damn someone really needed to tell Albus to stop whining about how apparently horrible and selfish his dad is.

Lastly, how the Time Turners function. Yes, I get these are new and one of a kind Time Turners designed and created outside Ministry regulation and designed to go back years at a time. However, it was originally established that time travel in this world with them works as a closed loop. They travel back in time because they already did. Harry survived the Dementors because he cast a patronus charm, and then went back in time to cast that charm because he already did, and if he hadn't he wouldn't have survived to go back in the first place. Closed loops.

In this however, they did actually do things that never happened. They probably even changed how Ron and Hermione got together, because it's unclear if they also prevented Albus casting the fireworks into the air above the second task declaring "Ron loves Hermione".

The only benefit of this fuckery with how Time Turners work is that it would then make sense why time travel fucks everything up so much it creates alternate timelines and alternate universes. It's still annoying that they casually fucked with how it's supposed to work but it's not as big an issue as the Fidelius charm thing. Also why did Hermione of all people keep the fucking thing??? Like I understand to an extent but seriously, and then to have such lax security on it? For fucks sake, don't you remember being 11 and getting past all the security put on the philosophers stone??!?! You might as well have put the time Turner in wrapping paper in comparison, because at least those ones had the potential to seriously maim or kill you.

Scorpius was a great character, I adore him and he was actually really well written. He's the sweetest thing and needs all the hugs. His relationship with his dad (Draco) is also amazing and a well written dysfunction of different personalities and effects of grief, but Draco loves his son no matter what and constantly tries his best. Despite my rant, I also like Albus and I adore their friendship and their dynamic. I don't mind character flaws, but sometimes they do get over the top and annoying like they did with Albus for a while there, mostly because of the way it influenced the plot.

I dont know, I probably missed shit I wanted to say and maybe got a little harsh sometimes but eh, it's a rant for a reason lol. I love the play, but once I start thinking about things that's when it goes a lot downhill from there haha.

Also Scorpius is amazing and I adore him. :)

Prisoner of Azkaban: Week 2

I loved the chapters from this week! This list definitely reads as a tribute to the Marauder’s (with some McGonagall because she’s the BOMB). I’ve also found that my favorite passages are often times descriptions about Hogwarts or the scenery - I find that it is so vivid that I can picture myself there in the moment (and then get all irritated when I find out I’m actually just at home).

Chapter 10: The Marauder’s Map

‘Precisely,’ said Professor McGonagall. ‘Black and Potter. Ringleaders of their little gang. Both very bright, of course - exceptionally bright, in fact - but I don’t think we’ve ever had such a pair of trouble-makers -’ ‘I dunno,’ chuckled Hagrid. ‘Fred and George Weasley could give ‘em a run for their money.’ ‘You’d have thought Black and Potter were brothers!’ chimed in Professor Flitwick. ‘Inseperable!’

Chapter 11: The Firebolt

(two passages from this chapter because CHRISTMAS)

‘A sudden sound from the corner of Hagrid’s cabin made Harry, Ron and Hermione whip around. Buckbeak the Hippogriff was lying in the corner, chomping on something that was oozing blood all over the floor.’

‘Thick streamers of holly and mistletoe were strung along the corridors, mysterious lights shone from inside every suit of armour, and the Great Hall was filled with its usual twelve Christmas trees, glittering with golden-stars.’

Chapter 12: The Patronus

‘Harry looked around at the cluttered table, at the Long Arithmancy essay on which the ink was still glistening, at the even longer Muggle Studies essay ‘Explain Why Muggles Need Electricity’ and at the Rune translation Hermione was now poring over.’

Chapter 13: Gryffindor versus Ravenclaw

‘I’m not blamin’ yeh!’ said Hagrid, waving Harry’s apology aside. ‘Gawd knows yeh’ve had enough ter be gettin’ on with, I’ve seen yeh practisin’ Quidditch ev’ry hour o’ the day an’ night - but I got to tell yeh, I though you two’d value yer friend more’n broomsticks or rats. Tha’s all.’

Chapter 15: The Quidditch Final

‘And next moment, it had emerged: a gigantic, shaggy black dog, moving stealthily across the lawn, Crookshanks trotting at its side.’

Chapter 16: Professor Trelawney’s Prediction

‘Herminone, I don’t know what’s got into you lately!’ said Ron, astounded. ‘First you hit Malfoy, then you walk out on Professor Trelawney -’ Hermione looked rather flattered.’

Chapter 17: Cat, Rat and Dog

‘Lupin was lowering his wand. Next moment, he had walked to Black’s side, seized his hand, pulled him to his feet so that Crookshanks fell to the floor, and embraced Black like a brother.’

Chapter 18: Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs

‘But apart from my transformations, I was happier than I had ever been in my life. For the first time ever, I had friends, three great friends. Sirius Black...Peter Pettigrew...and, of course, your father, Harry - James Potter.’

BUT OF COURSE…. thanks for asking!

If I hadn’t been made aware that the art book calls him an ikemen type, I would have had no idea he was supposed to be hot. I can see how he is (pretty eyes, a tall blonde, a strong voice) but the circus clothes are pretty bad, braids objectively bad even though I kinda like them in a viking-y way, and the curves in his lips always made me think he looked a bit like a frog or maybe a cat. Doesn’t stop me from drawing sexy art of him tho lol.

hogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuff

Good now I can publicly explain why I made him Gryffindor on my recent chart. First of all I think it would be really pigeonholing him to put him in Slytherin. “There are dark wizards in every house” as they say. In Dio ending, he tells Phi and Sigma that he’s like a superhero - and in Japanese, the word he used was “seigi no mikata” aka Ally of Justice, showing that he would view himself the way a Gryffindor does. He’s far more brash than he is ever cunning and he’s ruled by his emotions a lot of the time. It simply looks off since he’s a cultist who’s worshipping a Slytherin. As such, Peter Pettigrew is a really good example of the type of Gryffindor Dio is.

best quality: He’s the most quotable character in the game by a country mile, and his presence in the various routes is just as bombastic. (pun intended.) Dio ending itself is incredibly memorable just for the sheer surprise of his backstory. Who would ever expect that the circus guy dropping F-bombs all the time was a religious nut? Just imagine this guy having a quiet boring church life most of the time and then really cutting loose for his infiltration projects. No wonder he did a swear so many times. He’s hilarious. worst quality: I’m kinkshaming his planet fetish- ok that’s jokey, but do I really have to spell it out? What an asshole. There really isn’t anything that you could say is Low Even For Him, he’ll do it all ship them with: Well the most popular pairing for him is Dio/Luna, which is a pairing that I get and that I accept. It’s not ideal for me though, I’m more inclined to think Luna deserves better. My favorite person to ship Dio with requires some finagling to get around the crossover timelines, but it’s Dio/Mira. They’re about even in terms of being terrible so they’d deserve to put up with each other, they’ve both got connections to Brother which could put them in contact or at least be fun and mysterious, and I know for a fact they’d find each other entertaining. Dio is a lot like Eric but worse (so while this isn’t my opinion necessarily, anyone that thinks Eric deserves better than Mira, this ship could also be for you, I recommend Carlos/Eric as a side for your Dio/Mira) …Meanwhile Dio is attracted to “feisty women” perhaps someone who is like Alice but worse. As a note, I definitely think Dio would be attracted to Alice but also I would never ship Dio/Alice, why would you when Alice/Clover is right there. Plus they have a more direct reason not to bang when he or another Myrmidon may have killed her father, yikes. There are other parallels between them, like making animal metaphors, wearing red and dying of asphyxiation in a pod (like two peas!! Romantic!!!!!!) but this section is already embarrassingly 3x times longer than the others so just trust me that they’re a good match and let’s move on. The direction this ship goes could be all sorts of things depending on how it was set up in the first place… I’d probably be happy with anything? Something like a hatemance would be tasty, though when I RP or draw it, I do tend to make it more positive, piranhas schooling together or whatever. It’s good shipping for if you’re more interested in exploring their villainy than rehabilitation, though I firmly believe they both would be capable of reaching the latter with just eachother as well, it would just take some time and positioning. Maybe copious use of Mira’s willingness to challenge her own beliefs to inspire change in Dio’s zealot approach, or another way, Dio wanting to become better when Mira may not be able to understand his feelings otherwise.

brotp them with: I think Dio just needs to outsource to ZTD entirely because Carlos would be the nice respectful Gryffindor senpai he never knew he wanted. Like I just think way too much of him in this kind of crossover terms because of my main ship for him. However in canon, hmm. Luna would still be very, very good for him even if it wasn’t necessarily romantic. I also see him trying to bro it up with Sigma and I actually have no problem with that. Like Dio, Sigma and Phi all becoming weird friends after Dio tourguided them around the moon in his ending would be highly legit. …I also have this RP bromance of Lenga’s Dio with my 707 from Mystic Messenger that works out because guess who already has life experience with a crazy cultist bro. needs to stay away from: NO ONE. SOONER OR LATER, EVERYBODY PUTS UP WITH DIO. I don’t make the rules

LILY’S BOYS aka Lily’s relationship with the Marauders

JAMES POTTER

It is a well known fact, that Lily wasn’t a big fan of James at the beginning. It was for several reasons, like his - in her opinion - arrogant behavior and constant try to impress everyone around him, like him pushing his finger through his hair to make it look like he just got off the broom and constantly playing with the snitch, showing off his skills. This might even worked with other girls, however Lily got only annoyed, if anything. Despite all of this, she did admire James for standing up for students who have been bullied. Even if she didn’t always agree with his methods, like hexing people, it didn’t go unnoticed that he was there for those students and defended them. As the years passed and they matured - and Lily learned more about the boys -, she also realised, that James was a good friend and came to the conclusion that she might misjudged him and he was not that bad after all. Although that thought already lurked in her mind for a while then. Lily never hated James, she disliked him or at least certain things he did and how he did those, but she never hated him. Hate is a very strong word after all.

In the end it was her grown respect for him that made her say yes to a date with James and it came as a surprise, that she had a genuinely nice time with him. After their first date, she spent more time with the Marauders, getting to know them more, bonding with them and building up friendships. And not only because they were James’ friends, they became her friends too. One thing led to another and soon they went on more dates, made things official, ending up marrying and starting their own family (even if it was not planned at that time). Neither of them knew how little time they would actually get to spend together, despite the war looming over their heads and later the prophecy adding to their threats. Lily and James were ready to spend their life together even if they had a rough start, they were each others soul mates. Being in love with him of course doesn’t mean she is entirely clueless to his flaws or that she overlooks them, Lily is aware that James is not perfect - no one is - but she loves him with all his flaws. It’s also very important to me, that people know, she never tried to change him. Even before she got to know him better and before they started dating, all those times she called him out, it was up to him if he wanted to do anything about it. In no way did she try to force anything on him. It was up to him if he wanted to change anything at all about himself. Furthermore, it’s also important to mention, that she didn’t see him as a bad guy. She thought he was arrogant and annoying, but not a monster.

REMUS LUPIN

Remus was the first of the Marauders Lily had a relationship with. Based on the similarities between them, it was no wonder they got along well. They were in the same house, attending the same classes, sharing the same table and common room. Furthermore they both spent enough time in the library studying the books, or stayed up late at night, with barely any people left in the common room. It was just a question of time when they would finally talk with each other. For years Lily couldn’t understand what moved Remus to become friends with the other boys - especially James and Sirius -, but knowing the boy, she was sure he had a good reason for it. Although that didn’t hold her back to question his choice every know and then, however she was also sure, that his friendship had a good effect on the others. While some people might see Remus as the odd one out, who wasn’t pleased with the Marauder pranks, I see that differently. Lily knew Remus wasn’t entirely innocent and played his part in those pranks as well. They weren’t the closest friends, but Lily was fond of him, making it easier for her to notice when the boy kept falling ill once a month, though it took her a while to notice the pattern. From there on it was a journey to figure out the boy was a werewolf. However Lily didn’t feel like confronting him for it was his secret and even as a muggle born she understood why he wanted to keep it as a secret.

Being already friends, it was easier for them when things started to shift in seventh year and Lily started to spend a bit more time with the boys. Although they barely noticed that change, as the two of them already hang out more in sixth year, preparing for exams in the library. But it was not just their love of books that they had in common. With Lily growing up as a muggle for very long time not knowing she was a witch and Remus growing up without much contact to others in his age, they both had a lot to discover and the big castle with it’s many secrets often seemed intimidating to the children. Their friendship grew over the years and once they graduated and joined the order she often found herself worrying about him and brightening up when she finally came to visit them. Lily knew about the struggle Remus had to go through in his life, and she really wanted him to be happy, then he had a kind heart and he deserved it, even if sometimes he himself couldn’t see it.

SIRIUS BLACK

Her relationship with Sirius was unlike that with the other two. Right after their first encounter she wasn’t very found of him. He and James were a due usually up to no good. Much like with James, she thought he was arrogant. Once Regulus came to Hogwarts, and was sorted into Slytherin, Lily learned more about the Black family from her friends and their whispers. She learned that in certain circles they were treated like royalty. Later as she and Regulus were both part of the Slug Club, Lily came to realise that the relationship between the two brothers wasn’t the best. She loved Petunia, but after her letter from Hogwarts arrived, their relationship hasn’t been the same anymore. Although she did not approve of many of their actions and pranks, the girl had more understanding for Sirius and felt sympathy for him. Although for many years - until after the graduated - she didn’t say that out loud. Although she understood him more, they didn’t build a relationship until later years. Their friendship gradually developed and once Lily realised she was calling Sirius Black her friend.

Their friendship deepened even more after their graduation. It was not only the fact that he was James’ best friend. Lily grew to love Sirius a lot. So much so, that for his birthdays she even baked him a cake. The first time declaring that they were his family now and he better accept this, then she will keep baking him a cake until the day she can lift her wand hand. Lily loved a trusted Sirius, which is shown in the fact that he was their first choice for a secret keeper and they made him Harry’s godfather. Both things James couldn’t have decided on his own and Lily definitely ad a say in. It is also known, that Lily wrote Sirius at least one letter, in which she thanked him for Harry’s birthday present. In my opinion she wrote him several letters, always keeping him updated and because she wanted to stay in touch with him. Lily always had a special bond with Sirius, although she couldn’t explain why it was the case. It was not like with James, or with Remus, it was special on it’s own.

PETER PETTIGREW

For years, Lily didn’t pay much attention to Peter, he was just one of her house mates and the boy always hanging out with James, Sirius and Remus. He was one of the Marauders, took part in their pranks, but he just didn’t stand out as much as the others did. Nonetheless as much as Lily could tell, he wasn’t really better. The thought that James and Sirius influenced him, made him join in on all the pranks, but if he didn’t had it in him to stand up to them, he wasn’t better.

Peter was the only one she actually only get to properly know after she started hanging out with the Marauders. She grew to like him and thought maybe she was too harsh to him. Lily grew to like him, even more than that, she was protective of him. He was their friend, he was not an outsider, James and Sirius did not just let him hang out with them out of pity or whatever. He was a Marauder, he was there for his friends, he learned to become and animagus with them, and joined the Order with them, fighting with them. Lily had no reason to be suspicious, to think Peter, their friend, would betray them. In the above mentioned letter, the one she sent to Sirius, she wrote about Peter, how he dropped by and she was worried about him then he wasn’t looking all too good. Lily Evans cared about Peter Pettigrew and didn’t think he would betray them. Again, like above mentioned, James wasn’t the only one making the decision of who would be their secret keeper, Lily had a say in it, and she trusted Peter enough to make him their secret keeper. She died realising that this friend, whom they all trusted, but especially James and her trusted with their own and their son’s life, has betrayed them, selling them out to the Dark Lord. And she never got to learn why, why the boy who got their love and support turned his back on them.

5 things each

so i just did the ‘5 things’ tag game and it inspired me to do 5 things about each marauder from my own hcs ...

james fleamont potter aka biggest fkn dork in hogwarts

- really awkward and disproportionate looking until about sixth year when he kind of fills out

- LOVES a party g’s it up for days takes hours getting ready ‘sirius when i see lily should i do this? or this? oh what do you know about women peter which smoulder’

- starts singing christmas carols on the first (1st) of november, wears the cheesy jumpers and reindeer antlers every year, is really fussy about the decoration of the christmas tree ‘no don’t touch it lily this is a process’ dresses harry as a lil baby reindeer for his first christmas

- literally no one can read his handwriting has literally 0 pen control it’s just splotches of ink on the parchment and he always has ink stains all over his hands

- when he’s focused, he’s focused and nothing’s going to distract him you will not catch james fleamont potter procrastinating

sirius orion black aka the gayest fkn nerd in hogwarts

- eats everything with a knife and fork james finds it deeply disturbing

- hates muffins but always eats them anyway? like he’ll just grab one at breakfast, take a piece off and eat it but immediately spit it back out and then just breaks the rest of it apart into tiny little crumbs while james’ head almost explodes

- perfect at everything but extremely lazy about it

- will fall asleep anywhere except in his own bed remus is always nudging him awake in random places and dragging him up to bed

- lets snape get to him more than any of the others

remus john lupin aka the biggest bisexual nerd in all of hogwarts

- i think remus liked to read before he started hogwarts bc his dad had heaps of books and he felt like they took him to other worlds but then he went away to school and realised the real world and friends and his story was so much better than any of the ones in the books

- b i g g e s t p r o c r a s t i n a t o r getting remus through schoolwork is a struggle for all four of them

- is the first one in the marauders to have his first kiss during a game of spin the bottle in third year (side note: on that same night, the bottle also landed on james at one point, and then girl who had spun it cried - james sulked about it for a week afterwards)

- he’s always losing socks so they never match and half the time he puts them on inside out

- will encourage mildly bad decisions ‘yeah sirius i definitely think you should get mcgonagall’s name tattooed nah i reckon she’ll be flattered’ ‘pete no word of a lie that seventh year has been throwing you looks at meals for weeks tonight is your night brother’ ‘james 100% you should keep that moustache’

peter pettigrew aka the fourth marauder this is important guys

- responsible for finding about 80% of the secret passageways

- always saying the entirely wrong thing when it comes to girls

- he can cook really well he likes trying different things and getting little tips and recipes from the house elves and james’ mum

- loves quidditch and gets really passionate about it he just can’t play to save his life but he might kill you in the stands if he’s stressed about a game he’s like a Quidditch Mom™

- he can do cool little drawings and comic strips he does most of the drawings for the map
