Room 44 ⍟ Satoru Gojo
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
┊ Neighbors.
NOTE: this is my first time writing a fanfic… hope u enjoy :3
PAIRING: Satoru Gojo x fem!reader
CONTENT: friends (started as neighbors) to lovers + sorry if this is too badly written and includes typos, english isn’t my first language and i wanted to write smth for fun..!
Tumblr media
You live in an apartment complex, room 43.
You led a pretty boring life since graduating. Waking up early in the morning, getting ready and heading to the office for work. Yet no matter how many times you try to wrap up early you always end up coming back home late from work, it’s the same usual scenery.
The moon making her way to her place, the sky turning darker and darker, parents picking up their children from the playground beside your work place since it’s getting late and the chilly breeze reminding you that autumn’s arriving.
-
You think of dating as a waste of time, well atleast, you’re the only one who tends to think so… You can’t find the time to make new relationships or get into one, plus you only have a few people in your life that you actually interact with .
You go out with your best friend on sundays for a drink to release stress and keep her up with what happens in the office, though it’s a pretty dreary topic but she insists that you tell her everything and after it’s your turn to ask her about how she’s doing ; you’re more like sisters than friends, and it comforts you to have someone that you can seek for advice.
The day after, your mom visits you to check up on you and brings you your favourite dishes.
-
Your mom is always nagging you to get a boyfriend and marry him in view of you not getting any younger..
“Mom, i’m only 28 years old..” that’s what you always say to her at the end of each conversation about dating.
In fact, even your best friend insists that she sets you up on a blind date to find your someone, but you end up refusing each and every time with the excuse that you want to focus on yourself and your job for the meanwhile. “Just get married to your work then, you workaholic!” she told you once in a snarly tone.
As much as you appreciate their concerns for you, you feel as if it’s still not the right time to start dating, add to that, you wouldn’t bother putting in effort to meet new people. Well, atleast for now.
-
It’s a usual friday night. You get back home, exhausted from a long day at work. You were left to finish overtime as per your boss ordered… but in return you get to have monday off in reward of your hard work.
You change into comfortable clothes and out of that suffocating shirt and tie choking ur neck all day long.
You lay in bed seeking for rest and peace after a long tiring friday, but as soon as your head touches the pillow you hear loud banging from the room next door, room 44. “Room 44? But i’m aware that nobody lives there…” you wonder to yourself and sudden thoughts run your mind, maybe it’s a thief? But there’s nothing to steal… And so that leaves you with one last conclusion, someone must’ve moved in next door.
Your new neighbor is very noisy. There’s always banging coming in from the next room late at night and it bothers you a lot… you’ve finally decided to confront him soon about it.
-
Usually you would hangout with your best friend at her place today, but this time you wanted to watch your favorite TV series alone at home.
You felt a strange sensation as you realized how silent things were, you were relieved that your eardrums were given a break from the noise. But you spoke too soon… A deafening bang hits the wall next room “BOOM!”
You get up, furious and angry, stomping your way outside to find yourself knocking on room 44’s door.
-
The door slowly opens, and you suddenly realize that you let your anger get the best of you.
A tall, handsome man was leaning on the doorframe. White frosted fluffy hair, deep crystal eyes hiding behind a pair of round dark sunglasses, a perfect nose and a grin was making its way on his lips. He was wearing a light blue shirt and dark baggy pants.
You can’t help but admit that he’s exactly your type… You get carried away admiring the man, your cheeks turn red and you rudely stare at him to admire his features. You got lost in his beauty that you almost forgot the reason you’re standing in front of him.
He tilts his head, greeting you “Well hey beautiful,” You can’t help but blush at his deep voice that just complimented you. Still you refuse to get easily swayed, “I’m from the room next door, you’ve been making a lot of noise ever since you moved in and it’s very bothersome. I can’t even sleep the night in peace.” you huffed while crossing your arms and tapping your foot.
He chuckled, “Are you sure you can’t sleep the night? You look too pretty for someone who didn’t get an an ounce of sleep.” he began. You got a bit annoyed because he’s not taking you and your complaints seriously, Not to mention, it seemed sarcastic because you knew you look horrible these days.
“Quit joking around would you, sir? I’m not here to play around or waste time. You’d better keep the noise down or I’ll have to file a complaint..” you scoffed while looking up to find his eyes. Why does he wear sunglasses indoor anyways? And at 9pm for God’s sake…
Before finishing that thought he interrupted, “Alright I’m sorry, it’s because I had visitors these last couple of days and they’re pretty noisy and a bit.. chaotic let’s say. But I wasn’t joking when I said you’re pretty.”
That was a bit unexpected, you thought he would drag it on considering his immatureness at the beginning. A smile escapes your lips and soon you chip in, “Thank you sir, I’ll head back then. I hope you have a good night.” You get ready to turn around and walk back into your room, however you feel a hand pulling ur shirt gently. “It’s Satoru Gojo.”
“What?” “…Gojo, that’s my name since you insist on calling me sir… I don’t even look that old...” he corrected you while pouting.
You can’t help but let out a giggle, “I’m y/n, Gojo, it’s nice to meet you.” you hummed.
“Do you have plans?” he asked, “Hm, well for now, not really.” you responded and it didn’t take him a second to say “Would you like to come in? Let’s have a drink together. I’d like to get to know each other. We’re neighbors after all.” he suggested, taking his sunglasses off.
“Sure,” you replied. That came out so suddenly.. you knew better than to enter a man’s house especially one that you just met above all… However, you just couldn’t help refusing after clearly seeing his gorgeous yet sharp blue eyes, staring at you with an excited look.
“Come in!” he cheered, moving out of the way and holding the door open as you entered the apartment.

parenthood part eighteen: a balancing act
Tumblr media
a/n: happy sunday everyone!!! i hope you enjoy this and leave me some thoughts if possible. hope you guys have a great week ahead :)
warnings: swearing, smut (PinV sex) sexual innuendoes
ambivalence masterlist , parenthood masterlist
For her fourth birthday, Josie asked for one thing.
You’d braced yourself when she came to you with those big, desperate eyes, telling you she decided on her present. The plans for her party had already begun, and Rafe had turned into a full blown planner to make sure everything goes exactly as it should.
You had pulled her up on your lap and encouraged her to tell you what she wanted, hoping it was something you and Rafe could not only afford to buy, but also wouldn’t be too difficult. Her answer, though, practically broke your heart in half.
Uncle Topper.
That’s all Josie wants for her birthday.
Which is how you wind up standing in the middle of your living room in a cocktail dress, watching Josie sit by the window and wait hopelessly for him to show up. You had already tried to coax her away; to come join her party and have fun. She remains insistent and stubborn as ever to wait, even if it means missing out on her own birthday.
You turn around at the sound of the back door opening, revealing three of your favorite guys. Rafe guides Noah and Connor inside, both of which look a little lost without their favorite girl to boss them around.
“Go get her,” Rafe encourages them quietly.
You smile at them as they pass you, hurrying up to the front of the house. Noah immediately sinks to his knees beside Josie and looks at her for a moment, then takes her hand. Connor follows suit on the opposite side of his sister; both of them decide to sit with her instead of encouraging her to come play.
Rafe comes up behind you and wraps his arm around your waist, pulling you back against him. His chin comes to rest on your shoulder as you both stand there and watch the three kids — soon to be four given Maddie’s state. Her due date passed a few days before, and now, she’s at the mercy of the child. Kelce is at the mercy of Maddie.
“Hi, sweetheart,” Rafe whispers to you, “How’s she doing?”
“Well, she’s not screaming or crying, so that’s a plus,” you mutter.
He chuckles softly, “Definitely a plus.”
“Yet,” you add quickly, “She’s not screaming or crying yet.”
“What time is he supposed to get here?”
“He should’ve been here by now,” you say, “I’m worried.”
“There’s no need to worry,” Rafe lectures you, leaning forward and pressing a kiss to your cheek.
“I know, I just—”
“Is that him?” Connor asks, pointing out the window at the black car pulling into the driveway.
“Uncle Top!” Josie exclaims, yanking her hands from the boys’ grasps and running out the front door without a second thought.
You break away from Rafe as the kids go running outside, yelling ‘be careful!’ behind them to no avail. Rafe follows you out, and just as the two of you escape off the front porch, you see him stepping out of the car.
The image of your best friend after months of nothing feels like a breath of fresh air. He looks tired, but in a different way than before. He has a hat on to cover his messy hair and you’re pretty sure his shirt is inside out, but you know you won’t question it out of fear of why that’s the case.
“Uncle Topper!” Josie exclaims, jumping up and down in anticipation.
Topper grabs his bag and slings it over his shoulder while he thanks his Uber driver, then plucks Josie right up off the ground.
“My angel,” he grins, “Oh, I’ve missed you so much. I can’t believe you’re four already!”
Josie beams and holds up four fingers, then runs her hand over the beard he’d grown since he left.
“I asked for you to come home for my present,” she tells him, “It worked.”
“Of course it worked. I can’t say no to you, you know that?”
She giggles, “Yes.”
Topper laughs and sets her down, kneeling so he can give Noah and Connor hugs as well. When he meets your gaze after a minute, he gives you a shy smile and a tip of his hat before he stands again, carrying Josie inside.
“What kind of cake did you demand?” Topper asks as he guides the kids inside.
“Chocolate.”
“Oh, my favorite,” he smiles.
Josie goes shy, wrapping her hand around his chain the way she always does when he holds her.
“I know,” she tells him, “I got chocolate for you.”
Topper’s expression melts as he takes her in, and the only response he seems to be able to find is to pull her in for an embrace and a kiss. He holds onto her while he hugs you and shakes Rafe’s hand, seemingly unwilling to let her go after her last remark.
“How are you?” you ask.
“I’m good,” he promises, “We’ll talk later.”
He gives you a smile with his words, telling you that they’re not bad. You nod in response and let him into the house, where he’s immediately greeted by everyone else. He makes his rounds without complaint or shift from Josie, who simply rests her head on his shoulder and remains happily in his arms as he catches up with everyone.
The rest of her party maintains this theme. Topper sits with Josie as she blows out her candles, holds her on his lap while she opens presents, and rubs her back when she eventually falls asleep in the late afternoon.
He rests on the couch with her on his chest, ignoring everyone else and just cradling her. Maddie, who hasn’t stopped peeing all day and seems more than ready to go home and lay down, excuses her family from the house along with the other guests, and soon, it’s just your family and Topper left. Connor settles beside his uncle on the couch while you and Rafe sit together in the armchair, each of you unsure of where to start.
“Well,” Topper says, keeping his voice low for Josie’s sake, “We found out what we’re having.”
Your eyes go wide as you watch him, begging silently for more. Rafe’s grip on your waist tightens and he pulls you closer.
“And?” Rafe pushes.
Topper proudly looks down at the sleeping girl on his chest and smiles to himself, telling you everything you need to know.
“I’m gonna have a little baby girl of my own, I guess,” he says shyly, “I need to prepare.”
Your eyes well up, “Oh, Top. Congratulations.”
“You’re gonna have another Josie?” Connor asks from beside him.
“Yeah, buddy,” Topper nods, “It’ll be like you have another sister.”
“Oh, boy,” Connor groans, making you laugh.
“Congratulations, man,” Rafe speaks up, then nods his head down to Josie, “She’s gonna love you almost as much as that one.”
Topper grins, never once stopping his hand on Josie’s back. She squirms and crawls further up his chest, locking her fingers around his neck in an effort to remain even closer.
“Four years old already, huh?” he remarks, mainly to himself, “You’re growing up too fast.”
“I’m gonna be seven soon,” Connor tells him.
“I know, dude. I can’t believe that either, trust me.”
“Neither can we,” Rafe says.
Topper gives Rafe a sad smile and elbows Connor slightly, earning his attention.
“Did your parents ever tell you about the night they found out about you?”
“I don’t know,” Connor shrugs.
Instinctively, Rafe pulls you closer. You know why; and no part of you wants to relive that night right now. But Topper seems to have a purpose, so you lean back and kiss Rafe’s cheek to comfort him.
“Well,” Topper starts, “He trusted me to take care of your mom for a bit. I didn’t do that.”
You frown, moving to object, when Rafe’s squeeze silences you. Connor’s brows furrow in confusion as he stares up at his uncle, begging for more detail.
“Did you get in trouble?”
“Mhm,” he nods, “I thought your dad would never forgive me. And then, we all found out about you, and it was okay again. You kind of saved all of us in a way, did you know that?”
“No,” Connor confesses, then looks over to you, “Is that true, Mama?”
You swallow the lump in your throat and beg the tears in your eyes to go away before nodding.
“It is, baby,” you confirm.
Connor tips his chin up at that, letting his eyes fall as he processes that information. Topper watches him, and after a moment, he speaks again.
“I like to think my baby will do the same,” Topper almost whispers, “But she’ll be saving me.”
You nudge your head into Rafe’s neck as you try not to cry at Topper’s vulnerability. Rafe rubs your back the same way Topper rubs Josie’s — soft and comforting.
“I think she will,” Connor volunteers.
Topper smiles, “Me, too.”
Topper spends the night; carrying Josie up the stairs and to her bed, where she persuades him into staying for three stories before she falls asleep again. He eventually makes his way to the guest room while you and Rafe clean up downstairs. For the first time in forever, the kitchen remains quiet between the two of you as you digest Topper’s words from earlier.
Rafe still stands firmly on one side of the Sarah debate, which leads the two of you to avoid talking about it. You don’t see a point in having a debate with him, given that the plan is set and it is what it is. Sarah will have the baby, and the baby will move back with Topper. No one’s thoughts on that plan will change the outcome.
“My dad’s been sending her money.”
Your eyes whip up to meet his angry ones. His jaw is wound up tight and his glare is evident, telling you he has some choice words for his sister right now.
“Did she ask for money?”
He shakes his head, “No.”
“Rafe,” you sigh, “C’mere.”
He crosses the kitchen with no other demand or direction; just straight over to you. As if in his blood, his hands glue themselves to your hips while yours travel up his chest and to his cheek, cupping it in your left palm.
He sighs, “Is this the part where you stand up for my sister?”
“No,” you reply softly, stroking his skin under your thumb, “This is the part where I remind you that you’d do the exact same thing for your baby girl that your dad is doing.”
Rafe’s eyes close at the realization and sudden understanding of Ward’s actions. He lets out a shaky sigh, one that tells you just how emotionally conflicted he is, before he opens his eyes again and looks at you with only admiration.
“That’s why I fell in love with you, you know,” he practically whispers, guiding your hand up to his lips, “Your compassion and understanding. Your grace. Your ability to put yourself in someone else’s shoes and see things from their point of view. You’ve been so incredible throughout this entire thing. It’s making me feel like an asshole.”
You shake your head, “You’re not an asshole, Rafe. You expected more out of your sister.”
“No, it’s more than that,” he says, “It’s the fact that she had the whole family thing down. She had the ring and the baby on the way. And she gave it up for what? A job?”
“You’re different people,” you reason, “I think you’re projecting a little here. You can’t imagine giving up your family because it’s all you’ve ever wanted. Sarah’s been working toward this dream for a long time, it’s reasonable that she would want to see it through before she’s up to her elbows in diapers and pacifiers.”
He nods, “I hear what you’re saying, sweetheart, I do. I just don’t respect her decision.”
“Okay,” you reply, “Just don’t lose any sleep over it, okay, handsome?”
Rafe playfully rolls his eyes and then smiles, pulling you roughly into his chest for a hug. You breathe him in as you grip tightly onto his shirt, hoping that somehow, you’ll be able to stay right there for the rest of the evening. You know, however, that that’s never how anything in your life goes.
Almost immediately after Rafe starts swaying the two of you around the kitchen, you hear hurried footsteps coming down the stairs. You stop and so does Rafe, waiting a second before Topper comes hurrying into the kitchen with his phone in hand.
“Did you guys not see these messages?” he questions.
“No,” you frown, “What is it?”
“Maddie’s in labor.”
After five hours of snoozing in uncomfortable hospital chairs and corralling Josie and Connor, Julian Smith finally makes his way into the world. It’s the middle of the night when Kelce emerges to share the news, finding only you to be conscious. Rafe snoozes with Connor in his lap while Topper fell asleep cradling Josie.
“Want to meet him?” Kelce asks hopefully, earning a happy and excited nod from you.
Maddie is awake when you make it back, while Noah is asleep on the couch in her hospital room. You hurry over to her and give her a hug, but the anticipation of holding her newborn baby is almost too much to handle. You step back over to Kelce, who now holds his second son in his arms.
“Here he is,” Kelce says, speaking softly, “This is Julian.”
He hands him over gently, and as you take hold of his head, you feel tears starting to form in your eyes. He’s so small in your arms, and all you can think about when you see him is how you can’t wait to see who he will become.
“Hi, Julian,” you greet him, grinning, “Hi, sweet boy. I’m happy to meet you.”
Julian squirms in your arms, making you smile even wider. You turn back to Maddie and step over to her, holding him where she can see him, too.
“He’s perfect,” she murmurs.
“Can I meet him?”
You all look up and find Topper standing in the doorway with a freshly four year-old Josie wrapped around his leg. She smiles at you when you meet her eyes, then scans the room and finds Noah asleep on the couch.
“Noah’s taking a nap,” she mumbles, “I will, too.”
Topper laughs as she releases him and crosses the room, climbing up on the couch with him. Groggy and half asleep, Noah scoots over and slides his blanket for her to take. Josie cuddles under it and grabs Noah’s hand, then closes her own eyes. You don’t miss Noah’s little smile; one that you’re sure he doesn’t even know he holds.
Topper steps over and holds his arms out, giving Maddie a shy smile as he takes hold of her son. Julian coos as soon as he’s in Topper’s care, making him smile.
“I think he likes you, Top,” Maddie grins.
You smile and watch as Topper melts, cradling the boy with care. You swear you can see his eyes water as he stares down at Julian, but he doesn’t vocalize anything. He bounces him up and down for another minute, then steps forward and hands him back to Maddie.
“I’m gonna step out for a minute,” he tells you both, sniffling loudly.
You furrow your eyebrows and don’t hesitate when you start to follow him out of the hospital room. He tries to hurry away, but only makes it a few steps before your voice stops him.
“Topper.”
He freezes, but keeps his back to you, “Four months, Y/N. I have four months until I have one of those. Relying on me. Not us. Just me.”
You take a deep breath and walk over to him, grabbing his forearm and pulling until he looks at you.
“Not just you,” you remind him, “You have all of us.”
He shakes his head, “I can’t do this.”
He tries to pull away, but you tighten your grip and pull him back. His eyes widen when he looks over at you, as if he didn’t expect that.
“Why not?” you question.
“What?”
“What makes you think you’re incapable?” you rephrase.
“I—” he starts, then stops, “Because—I—”
“Exactly,” you say, pursing your lips, “You’re just panicking. That doesn’t make you incapable.”
He sighs and lets his shoulders fall, giving you his favorite annoyed look. You smile despite his reaction, letting him tug you in for a hug.
“Thank you,” he mumbles.
“Yeah, yeah,” you reply teasingly, “It’s what I’m here for.”
“Well, what’s going on here?”
You smile and pull back, coming face to face with your husband. He has Connor’s hand in his own, and his lopsided grin makes your heart squeeze. Topper releases you and gives you a smile to tell you that he’s okay.
“Connor, you wanna go meet the newest member of the group?” Topper asks.
Connor nods, “Yeah.”
He lets go of Rafe’s hand and walks over to Topper, who takes him back. Rafe, seemingly in no hurry, waltzes over to you and tips his head down, nodding for a kiss. You give him one, letting it linger before pulling back completely.
“Everything okay?” Rafe questions.
“Yeah,” you nod, “You should see Julian. He’s such a cutie.”
“In a minute,” he replies, pulling you closer, “I’m trying to love on my wife.”
“Our children are back there. I think we’re being bad parents,” you joke.
He laughs, “Topper needs practice.”
You giggle and bury your face in his chest, squeezing your arms around him. He sighs happily when you completely give in and embrace him, keeping him close.
You lose all sense of time when Rafe wraps himself around you. After a few minutes, he presses a kiss to the top of your head and then pulls you back to look you in the eyes.
“You miss this?” he asks softly, “Having babies?”
“Kinda,” you admit, “Do you?”
He snorts, “Do I miss seeing you pregnant for nine months? Hell yes.”
“Seriously?” you gasp.
He nods, but the expression he holds tells you that while he is, in fact, being serious, he also could not be any happier than he is now.
“Of course,” he mumbles, “You’re my girl.”
You smile and stand on your tip-toes to give him a kiss, “Want me to give you another one, Cameron?”
“Sweetheart, we’re in a hospital,” he reminds you with a smirk.
You shrug, “You could always take me home, then.”
Rafe’s eyes go wide at the insinuation, and before you know it, he’s dragging you toward Maddie’s hospital room.
“I’ll meet him quickly, then we’re going home,” he mutters over his shoulder.
You laugh and let him pull you along, completely sure that you’re setting yourself up for a very long night.
You wake to the sweet smell of pancakes and bacon. You instantly smile at the mental image of Rafe, shirtless, in the kitchen flipping pancakes at the stove. It’s the best dream; the only dream you ever want to have.
When his groan sounds from beside you and he tugs you back against his chest, you furrow your brows.
“Rafe?”
“Morning, baby,” he rasps, “How’d you sleep?”
“Good,” you mumble in response, “Did you—”
“It’s Topper,” he assures you, “And, judging by the little feet I heard come downstairs with him, we have some time to ourselves.”
You giggle when he starts kissing your neck and up to your cheek, then guides you onto your back. With a few quick kisses to your lips, he nudges your legs apart and slots himself in between them; both of you are still naked from last night.
“Rafe, I think we’re being really bad parents right now,” you say, holding back from letting out a moan as he kisses a path up your throat.
“I think I’m being a really good husband right now,” he says, “C’mon, sweetheart, forget about all of it. Just let me in, okay?”
That seems to be all the convincing you need. He smiles when you breathlessly nod, chasing his lips for another kiss.
“Okay.”
As he enters you, Rafe threads his fingers through yours and gives you something to grab onto as he starts to move. You whine, leading him to slot his mouth over your own as he lazily drives in and out, being gentle and demanding all at once.
“Love you, baby,” he whispers against your lips.
“I love you, too, Cameron,” you smile.
He chuckles and picks up his pace, kissing you again to try and keep the noise level down. Your legs wrap around his waist and all other thoughts seem to leave your head as he continues. It isn’t until Rafe grabs ahold of the headboard and changes his position that you feel yourself ready to snap.
He grins, “Already, huh?”
“Please,” you whimper, shoving your hips up to match his thrusts.
“Oh, fuck,” he grunts.
He buries his head in your neck and tugs your leg up with one hand, resting it over his shoulder. He’s holding himself back, you’re sure of it, and it’s not long before you reach your release around him. With another groan, Rafe pulls out and makes a mess on your stomach, then collapses down beside you.
“Good morning,” you tease.
He chuckles, “Hi, sweetheart. Let me clean you up and we’ll go get something to eat.”
You lay still while Rafe disappears into the bathroom, emerging with a warm washcloth and a smile. You comb your fingers through his hair while he cleans you, then comes in for a few kisses once he’s through.
He takes the washcloth back into the bathroom and then grabs a pair of boxers and a shirt from your dresser. Then, he carries over shorts and one of his shirts for you, gesturing for you to sit up so he can dress you.
Chuckling, you let him guide his shirt over your head, then kneel down and put your legs through the shorts. Once you’re upright, he steals a few more kisses, then threads his fingers through yours and leads you out to the kitchen.
You stop him once you two reach the doorway; instead, peaking your head in and watching the hustle and bustle of the kids and Topper.
“All right, it’s all in the wrist, buddy. You got it,” Topper encourages, watching as Connor flips a pancake up in the air and back down into the pan, “Yes! He did it!”
“I did it!” Connor repeats, “I’ve gotta show Mama.”
“We will, I promise,” Topper smiles, setting Connor back down and turning to Josie, “How are the decorations coming along, my angel?”
He glances over Josie’s shoulder — elevated only by the stool she’s standing on — as she decorates the pancakes he’d already completed. There are five plates spread across the island, and four of them currently hold stacks of pancakes.
“This is your plate,” she tells him, “I made a heart with the strawberries. And this one is Daddy’s, because he likes extra blueberries.”
Rafe grins beside you, “That’s true.”
“I know,” you laugh.
“They look amazing,” Topper encourages, “Will you give me a spray of whipped cream?”
Josie giggles and takes hold of the can, spraying it right into Topper’s mouth. He laughs and kisses her cheek, listening to her squeal when the whipped cream comes off on her cheek.
“Uncle Top, I think this one’s ready,” Connor calls.
“Perfect. Can I have the last plate, baby?”
Josie hands Topper the last plate in need of pancakes and he hurries off, letting Connor flip the pancakes once again to the plate. Topper picks up Connor in one arm and brings the plate back to Josie in another, setting both on the counter.
“That’s your Mom’s plate, so let’s make it extra special, okay?”
The kids grin and get to work just as Rafe pulls you into the kitchen beside him.
“Something smells good,” Rafe grins.
“Hi, Daddy,” Josie greets, not turning her focus away, but tossing a hand up over her shoulder.
“Hi, princess,” Rafe replies, stepping over to the kids.
Topper gives you a shy smile, “Sorry about the mess.”
“Don’t you dare apologize,” you press, “You’re gonna be an incredible dad. I just know it.”
You point over to the kids, as if they’re your proof, and he grins, “Thanks, Y/N. For everything.”
“You can thank me with coffee.”
Topper chuckles and steps over to the pot, where he pours you and himself a mug. With a small thank you, you walk over to Connor and kiss the top of his head.
“Morning, baby,” you greet him.
“Morning, Mama,” he chirps, “Guess what? I flipped all the pancakes this morning, and it was totally awesome. Also, this is your plate. Josie and I are making it special. Want more strawberries than this?”
You laugh, “No, handsome, that’s perfect. But I demand to see these pancake flipping skills soon, okay?”
“Okay,” he smiles.
You lean in and kiss his cheek, then glance at all the plates and to Connor, “You know what these pancakes are missing?”
“What?” he asks, wide-eyed.
“Powdered sugar.”
“I’ll get it!” he says quickly, hurrying off to the pantry.
When he returns with the bag, you help him distribute it amongst the plates, then help Connor carry all of them into the dining room. Rafe refills your coffee and pulls out your chair for you, then settles in himself.
Rafe sits at one end of the table and Topper sits at the other with the kids in between. Josie and Connor both stare at their pancakes like they’ll disappear if they look away, just begging for permission to dig in. You grant it, and soon, all of you are eating and laughing and trying to forget about the fact that Topper has a flight in the morning.
You catch his eye toward the end of breakfast, and he swallows harshly. You can tell he’s thinking exactly what you are: he doesn’t want to leave. You give him an encouraging smile and he returns it, but when his gaze returns to Josie, his first baby girl, he gives her a real smile.
“Did you like your breakfast, angel?” he asks her.
She nods, “Yes. Can we make this every time you come home?”
The grin that lines Topper’s face means more to you than you could ever express. Without hesitating, he lifts her out of her chair and settles her in his lap.
“There’s nothing I’d love more than that,” he says, “We’ll have to teach my daughter how to do it, huh?”
“I’ll teach her,” she promises.
Topper chuckles and pulls her in for a hug, “Thank you. I love you.”
“Love you more, Uncle Top.”
He squeezes her just a little tighter, then kisses her cheek. You watch his eyes close and you’re sure he’s holding all of his emotions in.
“I don’t think that’s possible, my angel.”

The Mixer
Tumblr media
Age Rating: 12+
Fandom: Grey’s Anatomy
AN: Sorry for taking so long guys I’ve been busy but I hope you enjoy this chapter and reviews are welcome. The GIF above is the outfit Amber is wearing to the mixer. This chapter shifts from first person POV to third.
Summary: Amber and Andrew reunite at the mixer where past information is revealed.
Words: 3486
The mirror in front of me doesn’t give me a clear view of the dress I choose for the night but that’s what I get for not finding an apartment in time for my new job. A month after my interview I opened an envelope informing me I was accepted into the surgical residency program at Grey Sloan. I was so excited that after Match Day I went straight to my room and danced to Little Mix’s Power while drinking a bottle of wine.
Now I’m in a three-star motel getting ready for a mixer the night before I officially start my surgical career. Grey Sloan has this party to officially welcome the interns and introduce them to their new colleagues and bosses, it’s an open bar so that’s a plus. Despite my excitement there’s something that’s still bothering me or should I say someone.
I was very surprised that I got accepted into Grey Sloan not because I was worried, I didn’t have the grades but because I was worried Alex would interfere. I feared that Alex would pull an evil stunt and get the chief to throw out my application just so he wouldn’t see me again. But I guess either the chief refused to do his bidding or he stayed out of it completely. The brother I had growing up wouldn’t do something so terrible to me but it’s been 13 years since I’ve had that brother and I’m not interested in finding out how much he’s changed since then.
However, there is someone who’s making me excited about working at Grey Sloan, Andrew DeLuca. It’s been two months since that glorious and amusing night we had and I still can’t get him off my mind. It took everything in me not to Instagram stalk him so I don’t turn into those anti-feminist stalkers I see on the lifetime channel. I don’t know why I had to stop myself from doing that, I’m not normally this gaga over someone I slept with once.
I guess it’s because he actually engaged in conversation with me before taking me to his house…where his roommate was about to sleep with his sister causing a hilarious scene that makes me chuckle when I think about it. I would’ve backed out from there but hearing him speak Italian turned me on again and I decided to go for it. I wanted to give him my number the morning after but I decided to wait and see if I get the job then maybe I can give us a real chance. I’m hoping I run into him at this mixer and we can save the whole introduction and head straight to dinner like we said.
I put the black belt around my blue bustier dress and opt for just a gold bracelet to accessorize. My makeup is done especially pretty for tonight with my lips bright red, my eyeliner is made to make my eyes stand out and my hair falls in loose waves over my shoulders. I decide to use my best heels for business and comfort purposes. I grab my keys and head out for the intern mixer.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The mixer was in the cafeteria, and it was filled with other interns I was gonna work with. The only attending was this trauma surgeon April Kepner so that was disappointing. I was hoping to meet Meredith Grey ever since I was in med school, she’s been my inspiration. She’s been my idol ever since she was able to 3d print models of organs in her second attending year. There are other’s at this hospital I want to meet but Grey is at the top of my list.
I stand by the bar observing the area and my future coworkers drinking my second glass of wine when I see a guy approaching me drinking a beer and giving me a smug grin as he looked at me up and down.
“Hey I’m Vik, Yale.” He holds his hand out to me which I take despite my disgust. Vik is attractive but he has a douchey vibe I’m all too familiar with.
“Amber, NYU.”
“So, uh are you enjoying the party?”
“Yeah, it’s great. Although I think they’re just placating us before the torture begins.” Vik chuckles, “Are you gonna be an intern?”
“Yeah surgery, what about you?”
“Same.” I sip my wine when Vik snorts amused, “What?”
“I mean I would’ve pegged you in OB or derma, no offense but you don’t look like the kind of girl who can handle cutting into people.”
I frown at his comment, “And what do you think I can handle based on your myopic point of view, do you even know what myopic means?” Vik looks offended at my comment when the guy I met the day of my interview Levi Schmitt approaches me with a grin.
“Hey, I don’t know if you remember me my name is Levi, we met our first day here.” I ignore his greeting as I am busy trying to one up this ass.
“Look I said I didn’t mean any offense by it.” He tries but fails to ameliorate.
“Oh well I am sorry I shouldn’t have taken your misogynistic comment personally.” I say sarcastically, “Oh I’m sorry again I should’ve known misogynistic isn’t in your vocab as well, do you need a dictionary?”
Levi looks at us confused, “Did I miss something?”
I turn to him, “Maybe you can answer this would you immediately assume I’m not cut out to be a surgeon like this jackhole?”
Vik raises an eyebrow, “Jackhole?”
Levi looks confused but complies, “Um I don’t know I would ask and just accept the answer.”
I smile at his answer, “Thank you, that’s a nice human being right there, you can take example. If you don’t think I can be a surgeon that’s your problem to mansplain but it’s the 21st century and girls like me can be surgeons”
Vik shrugs, “Surgery is hardcore.”
“I am hardcore.” I say with confidence.
Levi looks less confident but joins in, “Um s-so am I.”
“You two won’t last the first year.” Vik says smugly before walking away from us.
I sneer at his back before downing my glass entirely. I’ve handled guys like Vik my whole life even in med school, they all see me and think I’ll get my way through my looks. I’ve gotten straight A’s, volunteered at the clinic and graduated at the top of class but I guess even when I actually become a doctor I still have to deal with assholes like Vik. I go to the food table to get some dessert with Levi following me, he reminds me of a puppy that attaches to the first person who shows him one act of kindness.
I shove a petit four in my mouth and turn to Levi, “What are you doing here? I thought your rotation was over?”
“It was and after that I applied for an internship here and I got in.”
I snort in disbelief, “Seriously? How did you get in after your disastrous meet and greet? You know the one where you-”
“I know which one.” Levi frowns at the mention of him dropping his glasses in an open body cavity during the surgery we observed. I still chuckle when I replay that horrifically iconic moment, he continues, “But I rectified that problem so they wont have to worry about another incident like that.”
I eat another dessert, “Lasiks or contacts?” I ask with my mouth full.
“Neither.” He turns around pointing to the back of his head where a red rubber back is attached to his glasses to prevent from falling out, “Sports band.”
I look at his remedy peculiarly which he notices when he turns around, “And contacts are a lesser choice because…”
“I tried those but it required me to touch my eyeballs so that was a dealbreaker.”
I nod and turn around walking away from him to mingle with hopefully more normal people. As far as I could see Alex and Andrew aren’t here both to my relief and disappointment. I pass the time talking to the other interns and attendings that are here until Dr. Webber calls our attention.
“Welcome to Grey Welcome to Grey Sloan Memorial, where your education is our top priority.”
He’s interrupted by the double doors bursting open by three guys who are stared at by me and the others. I’ll give them this they make a hell of an entrance, despite this Webber continues his speech.
“Um, you were chosen for your potential. We are one of the top-rated teaching hospitals in the nation.” I see Alex entering the room causing my breath to hitch. I avoid looking at him as much as I can instead focusing on Webber, “And with your bright futures, we are certain that that tradition will continue, but it’s up to you to put in the hard work and it is hard work. So, enjoy the evening, ask question, talk to your colleagues because tomorrow you are surgeons.” I clap with the others and opt to exit the party early so I can avoid-
“Hey.” I freeze at the familiar voice behind me and I reluctantly turn around and see Alex standing there, “I didn’t know if you were coming or not.”
“Yeah well this is an intern mixer and as much as it disdains you I am an intern.” I look at him with a blank expression to hide my dislike towards him.
“It doesn’t disdain me; it shocks me but it doesn’t bother me that you’re here.”
I nod, “Good then we have an understanding, I’m going home now.” I turn and take a few steps until Alex speaks again.
“Why did you apply here?” I turn around and give him a little of my true face causing him to explain, “I’m not asking for my sake I’m asking because you made it more than clear that you would rather beat me than work with me so why did you apply to the hospital I work at?”
I exhale in anger and look around the people that could notice so I grab his arm pulling him to outside the door. I don’t want to get into it in the middle of a party with people I’m gonna work with tomorrow, that just spells questions I don’t want to answer. I stop us a few feet away from the cafeteria and face him.
“I am not here to get back at you. I didn’t make this decision lightly and I certainly didn’t make it because of you.”
“I didn’t think you were I just-”
I interrupt him, “Thought that I could find somewhere else to work where I didn’t have to see you? Yeah believe me I wanted to but…I want to be the best surgeon I can be Alex. I don’t just want to treat patients I want to advance medicine and make something of myself. Grey Sloan is the place to do that, so I decided to apply here in spite of the fact that you’re here. If you think I would be here for some lengthy revenge plot then you must think I’m as crazy as mom and Aaron.”
“I never said that I just…I want to know if we’re gonna be able to work together. I need to know if there’s gonna be problems between us because we have patients and they don’t need to see-
“I can work with you Alex.” I say it with a cold tone, “It’s like I told you months ago, I did not come here so I could play family with my big brother who left me as fast as he possibly could, I came here for me.” Alex looks at me hurt and looks away, “I knew that you worked here but I also know that Grey Sloan has one of the best residency programs and I want to be the best surgeon that I can be. I’m a mature adult and if the time comes when I will be assigned to your service I will act like any other intern. Just because I disdain you personally doesn’t mean I’m gonna let it affect my work. I’ve worked too hard to get here all on my own no thanks to you and I’m not gonna screw it up. May I please be excused Dr. Karev?”
Alex sighs, “Yes.” My use of his title and last name made my feelings toward him clear. I finally turn around and walk away from him relieved to end this conversation.
 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Andrew walks down the hall carrying his backpack heading to the mixer. He really needed a drink after catching his sister making out with Owen Hunt in a supply closet. He should be used to catching his sister with his friends but sadly it’s something he can never get used to. After Arizona left to go home he decided to drink for one instead. He turns left when he bumps into Amber causing him to drop his backpack and her purse.
“Oh god sorry.” Amber says not even noticing him as she kneels down along with him to pick up her stuff. She looks up and smiles as she recognizes him and he does the same, “Andrew.”
Andrew smiles at the sight of her, “Amber, hey I didn’t think you’d be here.” They both stand up, “I’m guessing that based on your dress and Grey Sloan badge that you got the job?”
“Yeah, I did, I start tomorrow.” Amber picks her purse up, “Are you heading out?”
“No, I’m headed to the mixer, aren’t you supposed to be there?”
Amber walks down the hall with Andrew, “I went for a bit but I decided to bail early.”
“How come?” Andrew asks.
“Well-” Amber was about to explain when Jo Wilson approaches her with a smile.
“Hi, you must be Amber, I’m Jo I’m gonna be your chief resident.” Jo holds out her hand which Amber shakes.
“Hi, it’s nice to meet you, I was just gonna leave so…”
“Oh, that’s fine I just wanted to come by and introduce myself to the interns before tomorrow. I especially wanted to meet you and make sure that there isn’t any awkwardness between us in the future.” Amber and Andrew look at her confused.
“Why would things be awkward between us?” Amber asks Jo.
Jo answers with nervous chuckle, “Well um…Alex and I are dating and living together.”
Amber inhales and replies flatly, “Oh.”
Andrew furrows his eyebrows confused, “Why is that a problem? Do you know Karev?”
“Yeah, he’s my brother.” Amber replies nonchalantly causing Andrew’s eyes to widen and look at her in shock as she continues talking to Jo oblivious of his reaction, “Look what happens with you and Alex is your business and I would appreciate it if you and him don’t try to make it my own.”
“I wasn’t trying to; I know that your relationship with your brother is…complicated.” Amber snorts as Andrew rubs his jaw trying to process this new information, “I just wanted to let you know that I’m here to help you with whatever you need while you start your internship. I already did this with the other interns so you don’t have to worry about special treatment.”
Andrew finally snaps out of his frozen state and speaks, “I’m sorry your brother, Alex, is Alex Karev? The one who works here? Your Karev’s sister?”
Amber frowns at his weird reaction, “Yeah, do you know him?” Andrew stares at her with wide eyes and disbelief all over his face, “Andrew?”
Jo looks at both of them, “Do you two know each other?”
Andrew blinks and gets out of his shocked state with only mild surprise left on his face. Amber raises an eyebrow at his reaction and wants to ask him again how he knows Alex when Arizona approaches them.
“Hey, I left my keys at home can I borrow yours if your going to the mixer?” Arizona recognizes Amber and greets her, “Hey! I haven’t seen you since-”
Andrew panics and interrupts her before she can reveal information to Jo, “Have you met Karev’s sister, the new intern?”
Arizona stops and looks at him confused, “Karev’s sister?”
Jo pitches in confused by this scene, “Yeah her.” She points at Amber who just stands there with a questioning face at all of them.
Amber waves at Arizona, “Me and what’s your name? I didn’t catch it the other night when Andrew brought me to your house.” Jo’s eyes widen at Amber’s comment who doesn’t notice instead focused on Arizona who purses her lips at this awkward reunion. Andrew quietly sighs at his misfortune getting worse.
“Y-Yeah we didn’t really do an introduction that night.”
Amber chuckles, “Well we were both busy trying to score when he and sister got into a spat so I don’t really think that qualifies for a meet and greet party.” Andrew closes his eyes as Jo puts two and two together slightly grinning at what she walked into and how Amber is oblivious to Andrew’s suffering.
Arizona chuckles lightly trying to keep a straight face, “Yes that is very, very true um Arizona Robbins head of fetal surgery. I also taught your brother back when I was head of peds.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, well Bailey was his chief resident when he started and Webber was the chief back then as well but I was the one who showed him the ropes of peds when he showed interest.”
Amber nods at the tidbit, “That’s quite a lot of connections he has, I suppose there’s not gonna be one person I meet at this hospital who is somehow not tied to my estranged brother?”
Andrew pinches the bridge of his nose over the cruel irony of her question while Jo presses her lips together both amused and horrified. Arizona chuckles nervously as Amber furrows her eyebrows at her.
Amber turns to Andrew who tries to look normal, “Okay well uh I should get going its first day tomorrow and I need the rest but uh maybe we can meet up after and catch up like we said?”
Andrew clears his throat, “Um yeah maybe.” He doesn’t give a clear answer as this whole situation shocks him so much he can barely process it.
Amber grins, “Great see you tomorrow.” She addresses Jo and Arizona, “It was lovely to meet you both, good night.” Jo and Arizona say good night back as she leaves all three of them.
When Amber is out of earshot Jo turns to Andrew with a grin on her face while Arizona quietly snickers, “You…”
“It was not what it sounded like.” Andrew tries explaining to Jo who doesn’t buy it.
“Didn’t.” Jo finishes with a smile.
Andrew exhales in defeat and breaks down, “I did like twice I think.” Jo laughs along with Arizona while Andrew continues panicking, “Oh my god what did I do?”
Arizona chips in, “I think it’s pretty clear what you did although I don’t know the specifics.”
Andrew turns to Arizona with disbelief over her humor, “This is not funny this is far from funny this is my death sentence.”
“Why?” Jo asks.
Andrew looks at her incredulous, “Maybe because her brother beat me to a bloody pulp over something he thought I did to you and now he’s gonna kill me for something I definitely did to his little sister.”
Arizona rolls her eyes, “Oh come on you and Amber were two consenting adults that night and from what I saw of her in that short time she came of her own free will. Also I think Alex has learned his lesson from what happened and isn’t stupid enough to do that again.”
“And besides Alex is estranged from Amber and I don’t think beating up a guy she slept with once is gonna make it any better.” Jo explains.
Andrew looks at her confused, “They’re estranged?” Jo nods, “Why?”
Jo knows the story between Amber and Alex but doesn’t want to give anything away for fear of Amber being ridiculed over what happened to her so she decides to be vague, “It’s a long story and one I feel she should tell you about. I have to go have a goodnight.”
“Wait um can you maybe not um tell Alex about…this?” Andrew asks with pleading eyes.
“Don’t worry I won’t tell him that you unknowingly had a one night stand with his baby sister.” Jo chuckles again as she leaves. Andrew and Arizona are left in the hall with Andrew left numb from the recent event that happened which Arizona notices.
“Do you want to take advantage of the open bar?” Arizona asks to cheer him up.
“Yes please.” Andrew says and they both walk back to the mixer to drink their problems away.

Oh !! I like that energy !! First time someone offered me a wheelchair I almost broke down !! Such fun times~
-fr i should be more positive about things, Im working on it tho, jda here-
I’ll let you keep the title just cuz you’re fun, so—
Assuming you don’t know what hollow knight is, is basically like a metroidvania game and it’s sooooo gooooood !! IM IN LOVE WITH THE GAME SINCE LIKE. Idk I think I discovered it in 2019 I think I can’t remember, BUT BUT, I had like this discussion with my sister telling her we should buy it and that I would pay for it and stuff and I finally convinced her, she liked the game, the one going crazy over it was me tho—
It’s got a ton of fun stuff and I mean a ton !!
You get lost really easily if you can’t find Cornifer to buy the map of the area but that’s the fun part !! Just exploring random places and memorizing stuff is just so nice !! ALSO THE BOSSES OOF, I love every single one of them !! Sure there are some that,,, aren’t that fun, but at the end of the day they’re still pretty enjoyable !! It’s got plenty of nice characters my fav being Quirrel whom I have a plushie of (also a plush of like the void version of the player, plus a silly drawing I made, I would buy more merch but I’m poor also I have more fandoms to attend to so— I have some merch here and there of other stuff so well that’s we’re my money goes to :]]) also also !! The name I use to sign my drawings comes form like the ship name I like from that game yes it’s gay bugs idk why they look cute ig
Okay to sum everything up or else this ask will be completed in three weeks, I love the game and the soundtrack is a banger I love it im waiting for Team Cherry’s next game so bad I’m very exited I just love hollow knight so much istg I’m not normal about that game I can count how many corpses are in the abyss I’ve played the game more than what I can count and I still haven’t gotten the 112% I’m very disappointed in myself but one day I’ll get it anyways if you have money I totally recommend getting it it’s a whole experience 10/10 would recommend okay that’s it thanks for letting me talk about the game I love it so much and I love you ok thanks again bye
Wheelchairs are so good tbh, like my stance (and the general disability studies/activism stance) is that if an accommodation makes your life better, you should use it. Doesn't matter if you could do [thing] without it, if it makes doing [thing] easier, you should use it!
Like I could just walk around with a dislocated/subluxated hip, but if I want to walk without pain then I need to use my wheelchair! The first time I ever used one was at a museum, and I realised it was the first time I'd ever enjoyed a museum cause I wasn't in horrible pain for once. After that, I started the process of getting my own wheelchair because it's so much nicer to live a life where I can focus on my surroundings without being distracted by pain!
Ooooh that sounds like lots of fun!! I know one of my friends plays it, but I've never actually seen it played. I may watch some playthroughs/streams of it or something to see if it'd be my sort of game, and if it is then I'll probably get it!! It sounds super cool from how you describe it, and I love the idea of gay bugs~

A few about the Great Seven interacting with Twisted Wonderland characters VIA Yuu. 👀 I only have one word summary; Chaos.
Who would meet the Great Seven first? Obviously the first years (along with Ortho and Grim). They’re Yuu’s best friends after all.
Actually, it was Friday, the last day of the week. And coincidentally, that night would be a special night at the House of Mouse. Ariel and her sisters would be performing that night.
Mickey told Yuu that that they could invite anyone to watch the performance. So Yuu went to get special permission to take their friends along with them.
After kidnapping Ortho After Yuu gathers everyone, they explain that they’re going out to see a special performance at their workplace.
Keep in mind that no one knows exactly what Yuu’s new job was except Grim and Crowley. So naturally everyone was in on it and curious. (Only Grim knows about Yuu meeting the Great Seven though)
Ace: So where do you work at?
Yuu: I work at a club.
Epel: ...As in a strip club or a book club?
Yuu: Wtf Epel? It’s like a club but no alcohol. It’s technically a restaurant but they have live shows and put on a lot of performances so-
Deuce: Oh! That’s cool, we get to see it together!
Yuu: Actually I’m not going to be with you guys. I’m on duty that day so I’ll be waiting tables. But I’ll join during break.
Ace: Really? Bummer.
Ortho: Aw, I wanted to hang out with you too! But it will be fun nonetheless. :D
Yuu tells them to wait downstairs as they go upstairs to get everything ready.
They are low-key nervous, because the House of Mouse isn’t...exactly normal by Twisted Wonderland standards.
Meanwhile, Grim was telling the first years about Yuu’s experiences there.
Grim: You know, the House of Mouse is really popular, I’ve heard about a lot of customers Yuu has met.
Deuce: This job must have been hard...I’m glad Yuu got it though!
Grim: Yeah, they pay them 5,000 madol! Isn’t that great?!
Sebek: 5,000 madol?! That’s a lot more than being a waiter.
Ace: In a week? I mean having a salary of 5,000 is pretty impressive.
Grim: Hehe, it’s actually 5,000 a day.
First Years: WHAT?!
Jack: To be able to pay that much...the owner must be wealthy.
Epel: Yuu lucked out!
When Yuu comes down, the first years are asking a billion questions.
How did you find a job with such a high pay??? Is the work good?? Is your boss nice to you?? Explain everything-
Yuu assured them that their job is just waiting a bunch of tables, and that they’re payed well because the place is very popular.
Anyways, Yuu tells them that they’re going now and leads them upstairs.
“Shouldn’t we be going to the hall of mirrors-?” “It won’t work.”
The group kind of loses their mind as Yuu casually pushes Ace into their mirror, Grim follows behind.
“Come on, or do I have to push you through the mirror like I did with Ace?”
Safe to say is that they go through the mirror and are greeted with a very lavish dressing room.
“Wait woah this isn’t Mickey’s dressing room.”
Yuu finds a note and read it out loud. Apparently Mickey moved the mirror to a new room so they could have privacy. Anything in the room is for their use.
“I’m going to cry. He’s so nICE I DON’T DESERVE THIS-“
Yuu is pretty happy with this arrangement, actually. They also begin to explain the club’s shtick to their friends.
“So this is basically a club for entertainment with live shows and also cartoons on the screen. Oh, and sometimes a cat named Pete tries to sabotage the show so he can kick everyone out and make this his club.” “Isn’t that illegal-“ “Not if there’s no police.”
So anyways Yuu leads them outside and they run into Goofy.
Sebek: Is that-?
Yuu: Hi Goofy, I’m bringing my friends to a table for the show-
Goofy: Yuu! There you are! You’re needed at table 14.
Yuu: What? But my shift hasn’t started-
Goofy: Reservations from Hades himself.
Yuu: Oh shit, ok yeah I’ll be there as soon as possible-
Ortho: Hades? As in the God of the Underworld?
Yuu: Yes, I’ll explain later, more importantly let’s go find you a table.
Ace: I think not telling us you actually met one of the GREAT SEVEN!
Yuu: I did tell you; and you didn’t believe me.
Everyone is vibrating in nervousness and excitement. Especially Ortho. I mean, this is the GREAT SEVEN we’re talking about!
Yuu decides to introduce them to Hades. But surprise surprise, it’s all of the Great Seven!
Yuu’s first year friends are going to pass out from shock. Oof.
With some inquiry, Yuu explains to the Great Seven that the friends they brought were from Twisted Wonderland.
Let’s just say that the First Years got invited to sit at their table. (Sebek is quaking at the idea of sitting with the Witch of Thorns)
So while Yuu leaves to start work (not after taking all of their orders first, of course), the Great Seven begin asking the first years + Grim questions.
The first years are expectantly tense, but they loosen up.
Ursula and Jafar are a little disappointed that no one from their dorm is present, but they seem to easily forget that after Yuu tells them that they know people from their respective dorms anyways.
Yuu also gives them a little more information they found about their respective dorms, so that they don’t feel...left out? (Satisfied is a better word for it)
Ursula pets Grim and Jafar feeds him crackers. Grim does not complain, he’s fine. He becomes more compliant as his tuna arrives.
And some of the other’s thoughts? Well...
The Queen of Hearts almost blew up in anger at Ace and Deuce. They are idiots that do nOT KNOW THE PROPER WAY TO SPEAK TO THEIR SUPERIORS AND THEY HAVE BROKEN AT LEAST 359 RULES ALREADY-
But somehow, the Queen of Hearts warms up to the idiotic duo. She sees them as...annoying children she has to babysit but they’re also really adorable that she can’t stay mad at them forever. Plus, Deuce is trying and Ace has these wonderful card tricks that would make her Jester cry.
So at first, she does not approve, but as the night progresses she does. 8/10 would meet the ADeuce combo again.
Scar and Jack...hm. Well, I don’t think they’d get along of Scar’s sense of morality and justice of the past was brought up. However, the villains all agreed to not bring up their villainous past because they didn’t want to scare away Yuu/make them wary and distrustful of them. Same goes for the first years.
Anyways, Scar is impressed at how buff Jack is. He isn’t surprised though - he expected residents of his dorm to be powerful. Scar lays down some well deserved praise and Jack eats it up with a tail wag. Jack also talks about his dorm and what the dorm represents. Scar’s ego rises 100x and Scar becomes somewhat...egotistical. Well, maybe not like in a “I’m shoving my ego in your face” type of ego but in a “This pleases me and I will treat you kinder” ego.
Basically, Scar opens up a little more to Jack as the night progresses. Like a mentor/student bond.
The Evil Queen and Epel...well, the Evil Queen was quite picky with how Epel was acting. Yes, he had the proper posture but really, he was using the wrong forks to eat that particular kind of food. She expected better from someone who came from her dorm. So she ended up chastising him and scolding him for being “improper”. Like Vil.
She was shocked to say when Epel accidentally snapped back at her, before returning to his more “princely” persona. Ah, so the child had more than meets the eye. She tried a different approach, as in trying to ease Epel into talking to her. Certainly, Epel was much more headstrong and willful than that naive Snow White.
So, the Evil Queen and Epel have a rocky start, but by the end of the show.
Hades and Ortho...well, that’s a combo you never see everyday. But I think Hades would basically adopt Ortho. As in suddenly he gets father vibes from the kid. He’s also particularly interested in his own dorm, and asks Ortho about it. Ortho’s pretty chatty with Hades, and is happy to tell Hades about his dorm! He also asks a few questions himself; which Hades happily obliged to.
...and then it turns into Ortho talking about Idia and how wonderful he is. And Hades is like, “damn, this kid has a wonderful big brother. How come my younger siblings act like shit to me-“
So Hades silently swore to the River of Styx to keep this child safe, and Ortho had a fun time interacting with Hades!
Sebek and Maleficent...well, it could have been worse.
Poor Sebek was tense and tight lipped for most of the night. He really wanted to make a good impression on Malleus’ grandmother. (I don’t think Sebek has met Maleficent yet so-)
Maleficent was patient, however. She knew Fae kind were raised to think of Maleficent as a high authority figure that should be treated with upmost respect. Unlike the other kingdoms; the Valley of Thorns praised Maleficent like a goddess. She didn’t blame Sebek for acting like he was.
So she started with baby steps. Talking about how wonderful it was to meet her grandson’s bodyguard, how Malleus must have grown to be a strong magician, how she wished she had stayed to know more about her grandson.
Actually, the breaking point between the tense atmosphere between the two was Malleus. Sebek opens up a little more as he continues to talk to Maleficent.
At the end of the night, they’ve only talked about Malleus, but Maleficent was content with that. After all, keeping up with what her grandson was doing was more than enough.
By the end of the night, the First Years enjoyed the special performance and their time with the Great Seven. Things went well especially when Yuu came to join during their break.
So when it was time to go, everyone had happily said their goodbyes as they were ready to return.
“Oh, before I forget...Yuu, I have almost completed the portals for the others so do expect one of us to pop in soon.” “Oh, ok!” “...THEY MIGHT VISIT US?!”
Everyone is low key excited to meet again though.
So, the first years go through the mirror and stay at Ramshackle, chatting away at their time at the House of Mouse.

------------------------------------
You sat on the street, overheating as you watched the ‘heat waves’ coming off the ground. You held your hair up with one of your hands since you had nothing to tie it with, while the other held a lukewarm water bottle. You sighed, you felt so anxious and frustrated.
What now?
You thought letting your mouth part due to your heavy breathing
You took things too fast. It had been about 3 weeks since you left your parents ‘home’ and why did you leave? Well there were a number of reasons that are a bit too much to list, but all that matters now is that you’re completely and utterly on your own.
You only managed to scavenge small jobs here and there to get some money to buy some basic necessities but nothing more.
“Sorry Y/n, my niece is coming down to Tokyo and I told her she could have a job here and stay at the studio above...I’m gonna have to let go. I’m sorry.” said your boss to you only a couple hours ago, with pity filled eyes
“...No it’s fine really! I understand.Thank you for taking me in while you could.” you said bowing your head at the man, biting your inner cheek trying to keep a level head
“I’m happy you understand. You can leave your apron and hat on the cashier. On your way out.” he said patting your shoulder as you slowly brought your head up
“Right..” you said taking off your apron and hat as you walked slowly to the cashier, placing it down
You brought your hands to your temples out of stress, trying to figure out what you could do now. You only had very little money, and there was a heat wave striking Japan this week. At least your boss allowed you to live and pay rent in the small studio right above his store, which had an AC, but now that was for his niece.
This had been the first time in a while where you had no idea what to do. You had always been the type of person to be able to take care of yourself and your problems..on your own. All your life since you can remember, you always had to be the one to take care of others, not that you mind or minded...but you were only so young. You never really had a childhood, at least not that you can remember. You do remember cleaning up after your parents who lost all will just to even... parent. You remember taking jobs as a babysitter at a really young age in your apartment complex to make some money.. You remember being the reliable older kid of your school and complex, where kids would come to you asking for help with things like homework all the way to buying something for them to eat because they were hungry. Not once did you ever say no, because you really did want to be there for those kids who’s parents didn’t give them the care they needed. But it just became too much.. You ended up spending all of your saved up money on them, just so they could have something to play with or something to eat.
Before you even realized it, you were in your last year of high school, with no money saved over, no scholarships, no one to rely on but yourself. Not even a friend. Was it really the right thing to do? Use all your money that you worked so hard for to help kids he lived next door? Or just plain stupid? You knew you couldn't support them forever...but you tried so hard to. All you wanted was to give them a childhood they never had, and someone to look up too. But now you left them. All because you were frustrated. You felt so unbearably guilty. All the work you put into your studies to get at least some type of scholarship just went to waste because you couldn't handle your life anymore. You were being so so so stupid.
Before you even knew it, the sun was going down, and you grew even more tired and sleepy. You signed, taking a jacket out of your bag and placing it on the ground so you could rest your head on it. You brought your hands to cushion your cheek as your eyes started to close. The air finally got a little cooler making it easier to breathe and well...do anything.
As you were falling asleep you could hear chatter and laughing, and finally a tap on your shoulder waking you up. You cringed your eyes before opening them up more to see 2 women. One had blonde hair and the other had pinkish hair. They looked older than you, maybe in their 20’s. One held a bag and the other held a bottle of wine with two glasses, they bent down so their heads could be closer to yours. After examining you for a bit they turned to each other and smiled happily before turning back their gaze to your confused face.
“Hey?” you said sitting up more, a little startled by the intimate contact they were giving you
“Hey there, say...what’s a pretty girl like you sleeping on the street for?” asked the girl with pinkish hair that was tied into pigtails
“I uh..don’t have a place right now so..” you said scratching your head
“Really? Hmmm.” said he one with blonde hair
“How old are you? And what’s your name? I think we can help you out! Woman to woman!” said the pink haired girl smiling sweetly making you feel fuzzy at their niceness
“18, and it’s Y/n.” you said smiling nervously
“Nice to meet you Y/n, I’m Remi, this is Rema, my twin sister.” said the pink haired girl pointing to the blonde as she waved sweetly
“Hi, it’s nice to meet you too..!” you said bringing your hands to your thighs smiling
“So did you just turn 18?” asked Rema
“Sorta, 2 months ago, why?” you asked
“Oh good!” they both said
“Well, it’s your choice really. One of the girls left today, and the boss sent us to scout another girl to take her place, buttt we just went to buy food with no intentions of finding someone but luckily we just found you! It’s perfect!” said Remi
“Oh? What work?” you asked getting excited
“Oh silly, we live in a brothel! It’s really not all that bad you know, great pay and rooms...so what do you think?” asked Rema
“A brothel..” you said under your breath
Your mind was in a serious state of concentration.
It can’t be all that bad, right? You just have to please people and go on with your day so… that’s what i've been doing my whole life… plus… there's a bunch of women in those things right? I probably won't get too much attention from customers if there's sweethearts like Remi and Rema walking around...so...just for the time being… I think it could really work out in my favor.
You thought to yourself
You brought your head up, giving the girls a closed eyes smile before shaking your head ‘yes’ making them jump in excitement.
“Oh good!” yelled Remi grabbing your hands
“I’m so excited! We haven't had a new girl in years! How do you think Ken will react?” asked Rema smiling as you 3 all started to walk
“Ken?” you asked furrowing your eyebrows at the familiar name
“Oh right, We’ll have to introduce you to him and everyone else tomorrow. He’s the bosses foster kid..I think you two are actually the same age.” said Rema bringing her pointer finger to her chin
“Mhm mhm! Oh and since you're new, tomorrow I will take your pictures for the board, you can borrow one of my sets till you can afford to buy one for yourself, how does that sound Y/n?” asked Remi smiling and holding your hand
“It sounds..great! Thank you so much.” you said bowing your head slightly
“No worries! Hopefully the boss will take you in.” said Remi patting your head
“Yeah..” you said as you 3 continued to walk to the brothel
You couldn't seem to get your mind off of that familiar name..Ken? You swore you knew someone named that. It definitely wasn't a popular name so it’s not like you knew it from some type of T.V program.. After thinking hard your whole way to your new home you couldn't seem to remember them. The person named Ken. And so you decided to brush it off for the time being.
The brothel was pretty big, and consisted of 12 girls, not including yourself. It was really late so everyone was asleep. Remi and Rema showed you to your room which was much more spacious than your room at home. They told you that you were allowed to decorate it and style it however you wanted. But they told you it was important to know that this was the room where business would be done, and not to leave important things around since some of the men came into brothels for the sole purpose of stealing. Remi even told you a story about how one of her clients tried to steal one of her panites, but then the boy named Ken stopped him by knocking him out with one punch to the stomach.
“He sounds strong-” you laughed as they gave you a small tour
“He sure is! Like the bodyguard of this place! He’s a sweetheart!” said Remi smiling
“I’m sure..!” you smiled
“Alright that’s about it, you should shower now and get ready for tomorrow. The boss will probably wanna take a look at you before seeing if he wants you. But I'm sure he will! You're pretty so it’ll go smoothly!” said Remi handing you her shower stuff for you to use for tonight and a set
“Got it, and again...thank you so much. I really appreciate it.” you said again
“Of course! Remember..we’re neighbors so feel free to knock whenever you need something..Also I can give you some tips before your first client so you know what to do.” she said smiling
“Right, goodnight then!..” you said feeling your face get hot at how she so easily talked about sex.
After that, you did exactly as she said, you showered. You thoroughly washed your body, face, and hair. Getting out you looked down at the set Remi gave you. It was just a black bra and matching panties with a silk cover up which made you feel better knowing you could cover up with that.
You rubbed your mouth as you started to rethink your decision. I mean...you respected sex workers..but was this life what you were willing to settle for? Aimlessly waiting around for some random horny man to choose you and do things with you just for you to get only 40% of the payment? Was this all really worth it? Leaving home to avoid your problems...to end up here? You were grateful, yes, Remi and Rema were so sweet and open with you. You could only hope that the others were just as nice. You really wanted things to go well, and that can only start with some good rest.
You woke up to a knock on your door, to see Remi and Rema walking in with a smile
“Morninggg!” they sang as you quickly got out of bed
“Hi!” you said frantically
“No need to rush! Usually men start coming in at 10, but since you don't work here officially yet you got to sleep in a bit! But the boss called for you, you should go to the set up room down the hall to get ready, remember it?” asked Rema
“Yeah I do. Thank you for waking me-!” you said smiling and grabbing your stuff and shoes
“Course, good luck Y/n!” they said as you quickly walked out of your room to get ready
As you walked in, there were a few other girls getting ready. You smiled and introduced yourself to them, and them to you. They were all so nice and pretty. It made you feel a little bit better about being here, and less nervous since they complimented your looks. You got ready in about 10 minutes, letting one of the other girls help you out with your hair and stuff like that. You gave yourself one last look in the mirror before stepping out and waving to the girls ‘bye.’
You nervously walked to the boss's door. You took a deep breath before knocking. You heard a muffled ‘come in!’ so you walked in smiling while holding your covering close. You gave a nervous closed eyes smile before seeing his office was simple, just a desk with a bunch of papers and a chair on the other side.
“Y/n, correct?” he asked placing down his paper and taking off his glasses to look at you
“Yes.” you said smiling
“Pleasure-” he said leaning over the desk to shake your hand
“Likewise.” you said smiling, shaking his hand firmly before sitting down
“Well, I’m sure Remi and Rema told you just about everything you need to know, I take 60% of your earrings, I use that stuff to pay for rent and bills for you girls and my kid… which usually takes up about 30% of that 60%, meaning you make a profit of 40, while I make only a profit of 30 per girl.” he said
“Yeah, I was told.” you said smiling nervously fiddling with your hands
“Good good, now that that's over with..” he said getting up ad signing
“I’m just gonna take a look at you, no need to be nervous I’m not gonna touch you or anything, so please don’t feel worried.” he said smiling
“Right!” you said getting up
“Alright just do a quick 360 with arms up.” he said smiling
“Okay.” you said doing as he said
He looked you up and down but not in a lustful way at all, it was more of like a ‘just seeing how you’ll hold up’ kinda look, almost like he was a bit worried for you.
“Thank you-” he said sitting back down as you did the same feeling nervous
“I was also told you’re 18? Right?” he asked looking down at his papers
“Yeah that's right.” you said
“Well I don't usually have this talk with the other woman because they're older. I know the age of consent in Japan is 16 and blah blah, but you’re still pretty young, are you sure you wanna work like this?” he asked looked into your eyes
“...Not entirely but it’s the best I can do right now.” you said with a determined face
“I see- we’ll then welcome, and just remember you can leave whenever you want, but give a 2 weeks notice. When Remi is done, ask her to take your picture.” he said
“Understood, thank you!” you said said smiling and leaving
You walked out of the room, closing the door carefully signing in relieve
That went pretty well.
You thought
You started to walk down the hall so that you could ask Remi to take your picture. But when you put your ear to the door, you heard lewd noises letting you know she wasn’t done just yet. It was already 5, and the brothel closes at 10. You didn’t really know what to do, so you walked over to the kitchen, sitting down at one of the stools waiting for Remi and or Rema to finish up with their work. You tapped the pen that was on the table and started to look around the kitchen. You remembered Remi told you there were snacks in the cabinets, so you got up and started to open and close them one by one to find something to eat. You finally found a cabinet filled instant ramen, you grabbed one and started to pour water into it, popping it into the microwave that was on the counter top. You stood in front of it waiting, playing with the loose strings of you covering when suddenly you heard the door open.
“I’m home.” said the tall boy with dark hair tied back to reveal a dragon tattoo on the side of his head
Is this Ken?
You thought as the microwave beeped, making his eyes turn to you
You quickly shot your eyes to the microwave, hoping he didn’t notice your stare. He looked so familiar it was almost irritating how you couldn’t remember him. You took the hot cup out of the microwave, placing it down on the counter top, ignoring his presence as he walked over, placing down the plastic bag in his hand, noticing your frustrated face trying to figure out where the utensils are.
“Left of the sink are where they are.” he said sitting down on the stool across from you after looking at your face a bit
“Thank you.” you said smiling nervously turning around to grab a pair of chopsticks
“Are you new here?” he asked taking out a styrofoam box from the plastic bag, opening it to reveal a hot meal of meat and rice and vegetables
“Yeah..I was supposed to start today but I don’t have my pictures taken yet.” you said smiling turning back to mix your noodles
“Could you grab me a pair too?” he asked realizing he forgot to take a pair of chopsticks from the restaurant
“Sure-” you said turning back quickly to grab some for him, placing it in his hands as he gave you a soft smile making your eyes widen slightly.
“You look familiar..” you both said at the same time making both your eyebrows raise in shock then turn into a slight scoff from the both of you
“Glad we’re on the same page then.” he said taking a bite of his food as you did the same still standing
“You know you can sit down, don’t feel nervous.” he said looking up you slightly
“..yeah.” you said smiling, walking around and sitting next to him.
“So when’d you come?” he asked turning his head slightly to see your mouth filled with noodles making him smile a bit
“..I came by last night, really late with Remi and Rema.” you said after finishing your bite
“I see...I feel like I remember you from somewhere, can’t pinpoint it though.” he said looking back down at his food
“Same here, and you must be Ken though, right? When I first heard your name I swore the same thing but I just can’t remember..” you said before sipping some of the broth of your soup
“Yeah, but you can call me Draken and your name?” he asked getting up to grab a napkin from across the table
“Draken...sure! Oh right, my bad. It’s Y/n. Nice to meet you-” you said smiling holding your hand out for him to shake
He only completely shot up to look into your eyes with his wide ones. You gave him a confused look as you watched him get knocked out of his thoughts, bring his hand up to shake your hand before clearing his throat and walking back over to sit. Maybe you struck a nerve? Maybe had the same name as someone who hurt him in the past? You really didn’t know but it made you feel interested. He looked like he just had his life flash before his eyes or something.
“Are you okay?” you asked
“Uh yeah, I’m fine. My head just hurts a bit.” he said looking as if he was deep in thought
“Oh? I have some tylenol in my room.. You want one? Or I can make you a cold drink, you’re probably dehydrated?” you asked smiling a bit
Draken turned his head to look at you, his mouth was parted, and he just looked so..anxious? You couldn’t even tell, almost like congested because he wanted to say something.
Draken felt his heartbeat quicken when he heard your name. As soon as you said it, a random memory that was buried deep in the back of his mind hit him as he quickly re-lived it. But could it really be you? The Y/n he knew from so so so long ago? Around 10 years ago? There could be no way, he remembers the girl moving to a different city..the chances were so low that it could really be you already.
But the second you said those words.. Those words of offering to make something for him, or give him something, despite you thinking you only just met him...Made him know that it was really the Y/n he met when he was only a little boy...but how the hell did you turn up here? In a place and part of town like this? He was so confused and just wanted to ask you...but you still didn’t remember him.
“..No I’m alright, thanks..can I ask you somethin-” said Draken before being interrupted
“Y/n!! Come on, let's take your pictures!” yelled Remi coming out of her room waving as a man walked out too buttoning his shirt
“Sorry, just remember what you wanted to say and tell me later.” you said smiling and standing up and walking over to Remi
Draken watched you as you walked away. He saw Remi give you a hug, and the man that was walking out checked you out to which Draken gave him a pissed off look. Making the man smile nervously, wave, and leave.
Do you really wanna live your life like this, Y/n?
He thought to himself before packing up his trash and throwing it away
Remi took your pictures, telling you to do different poses etc, and you finally settled on one. You walked over to the front of the house to place your picture in its designated area above your name. You signed, stepping back to look at it, fixing your gaze to see Draken was walking over with his hands in his pocket, looking as he was going to leave. You saw him glance at the photo making you feel slightly embarrassed.
“Nice.” he said smiling but looking into your eyes in a way where it looked like he was concerned for you.
Just as you were about to thank him a man walked in and started looking at you making you feel nervous. The man requested you, and so you smiled at him pointing your hand to where the showers were, as you started to walk behind him, you turned your hand giving a thumbs up to Draken with a nervously flushed face, smiling, as he he brought his hand up giving you a thumbs up with soft and concerning eyes before opening the door and leaving. It made your smile fade slightly, you’ve seen that face before from him. But not from today.. And it was all you could think about during your work.
As you laid in your room, after work you couldn’t help but feel a little bit...stupid? You felt so unsatisfied, not because of your customers but because you just couldn’t remember. It felt like an itch you couldn’t scratch hard enough, and with every interaction you had with the boy almost felt like a tease, like the itch just became more itchy and your scratches just became more weak. Maybe if you spend more time with him, you’ll remember?
It had been about 4 weeks, 4 weeks of saving your money, and every 4 weeks the boss collected his fair share of the cut. It wasn’t a pretty 4 weeks, it was probably the worst 4 weeks of your life. But... you and Draken would often exchange stories about your lives late at night which you enjoyed a lot. It always makes you feel better. But yet again you still couldn't figure him out. You felt as though you’ve met him before, and as though you two have had these kinds of talks before.
Draken only grew more and more helpless, seeing how you still haven’t remembered. He was slowly watching your life crumble. He felt so angry that you settled and believed you deserved to live like this, barely scraping by. He felt so awful, and saw how you grew so tired of it all. He just so badly wanted you to remember him, so that he could once again talk to you like he did before.
You had one last customer before closing, going through your usual routine, this n that, the man offered you a drink. You stupid obliged drinking it, hoping it would make your time more enjoyable but you were wrong, so very wrong, and so very stupid for drinking that stupid drink. You remember some parts, you did your job, then it all went black.. You woke up after hearing knocking on your door. You jumped out of bed, confused. You remember seeing the man leave as you started to fall asleep but that's about it. Usually you never fall asleep after the work because you never do much, your mind started to panic. But the door opened revealing Remi smiling.
“Hey sleepy! Boss says it’s your turn, come on, get your cash!” she said smiling
“Right let me just..it’s in my drawer..I don't know why I fell asleep so fast I think alcohol makes me sleepy.” you said getting out of bed and kneeling in front of your drawer to get the envelope of cash you had been saving.
“Heh, same here. I never accepted drinks from clients..they never had good intentions with that!” she said coming over and sitting at your bed
“..yeah.” you said starting to feel that panic arise in your body when seeing the envelope was...gone.
“What's wrong?” asked Remi noticing you were frozen
“I- the money..It’s gone..he took it..” you said with wide eyes feeling as though you were about to sob realizing you had just lost thousands of yen.
“Don’t say that..it..it probably just got misplaced! Come on, I'll help you look!” said Remi getting up
You couldn't even respond because of the amount of panic you were in. Your heart was racing and you felt tears fall from your eyes. After about 15 minutes of looking, you two found nothing. Absolutely nothing. You sat on the floor with your hand over your mouth, again, trying to keep a level head.
What now..?
You thought to yourself feeling hot tears stream from your face.
“Hey..guys? Boss is calling for you Y/n..what’s going on?” asked Rema walking in seeing you covering your face, crying
“She was robbed by the guy who just left, he put something in her drink to knock her out while he looked around and took the money...she doesn’t have the money.” said Remi
Rema’s mouth parted in shock and pity.
How could you mess up something so easy? All you had to do was keep your money safe. But you even failed at that.
“You have to tell him, Y/n.” said Rema rubbing your back
“Yea..yeah, could you two just give me a second? I’ll be right out.” you said smiling while wiping your face
“Sure.” they said frowning and walking out
You fisted your hands, and grabbed your covers before screaming into them to muffle your sounds..
Okay..it was a couple of thousand yen...not too bad right? I can promise the money by tomorrow..I’ll pick up some sort of street job...yeah! That’s good. Everything is fine..it’s fine.
You thought to yourself before wiping your face on more time and slapping both sides of your cheeks to wake you up.
You got up and walked to the bosses door feeling the eyes of people on your back. You knocked on the door before opening it slowly, refusing to make eye contact as you went to stand in front of the man with your arms behind your back.
“Alrighttt, let’s see here, in the last four weeks you had a total of 37 customers, so you should have around 300,000 yen, correct?” he asked looking at his paper
“Yes.” you said still looking down
“Alright, just hand it to me so I can count and divide it, you can sit.” he said smiling holding his hand out
“I..I don-” you said before being interrupted by a knock
“Come in.” he said
“Hey sorry dad, Y/n left her money with me while she went out. Thought I should bring it to her. Remember, Y/n?” said Draken walking in with an envelop in his hand smiling as he came to stand next to you, as you nodded your head ‘yes’
“Oh, thank you Ken.” he said smiling and taking the envelop
Your mouth parted as you gave a confused look, Draken only smiled and gave you a thumbs up while his dad counted the money. You felt so guilty and shocked, and all you could do was just stand there, like an idiot.
“Here you are...120,000 back..” he said, patting the money on the table to make it flat, putting it back into the envelope and handing it to you
You hesitantly brought your hand to grab it, glancing over at Draken who gave you small smile
“Thank you-” you said to him seeing Draken was already opening the door to leave
You quickly followed after him as he walked into his room. Before entering his room he turned around and looked down at you
You felt your eyes soften as you felt as though you were about to cry again, you tilted your head and neck down biting the inside of your cheek to keep in your cry.
“I promise I’ll pay all of it back by tomorrow, all 300,000.” you said
“Do you ever give yourself a break?” he asked as you brought your head up to look at him seeing he looked almost irritated
“You didn’t even ask why I did it, you just immediately jumped to feeling guilty. And you don’t need to pay me back. Really.” he said bringing his hand to close to the door, but you stopped him by grabbing his wrist making his breath hitch
“Why?” you asked looking into his eyes
“You still don’t remember? Even after all this time we’ve spent together?” he asked smiling as you took your hand off his wrist
“Remember...?” you asked furrowing your eyebrows in confusion, but then it suddenly hit you
“I swear it wasn’t me! I didn't steal!” yelled a little boy with blonde hair as two cops stood in front of him
You tilted your head and walked closer, but still keeping your distance to hear. It was a winter day and you were on your way to the corner store to buy some snacks, but you were met with an interesting scene. You kept your hands in your pockets as you listened over to the boy screaming and pleading his innocence
“I wouldn’t steal something so stupid! What would a kid like me need a lighter for!! I don’t know how it ended up in my pocket! Lay off!” he yelled as the officer dangled the lighter in front of his face
A lighter?
“Keep it down! We know how troubled you kids are here! Especially with those tattoos!” yelled back the cop as the boy grew angry and fisted his hands, ready to punch the cop
“Hey!!!” he heard a voice yelled
“Hey wait a minute!” you yelled waving your hand smiling as you ran to the scene
“Can we help you?” asked one of the cops in a soft tone
The blonde boy grew quiet, and you saw his hands loosen as he looked at your smiling face
“Yeah, why are you two yelling at my brother?” you asked furrowing your brows at the two grown man
“...Your so-called brother stole a lighter from the corner store right behind you, where are your parents? We would like to have a word with them.” he said standing up straight
“Yeah, and talk about how they let their son tattoo himself already..” said one under his breath making the other laugh
You looked over at the boy growing angry, you gave him a smile..making him calm down.
“He said it was just an accident, I asked him to pick up a lighter from the store so that we could light a candle at our father’s grave! See!” you said digging into your bag to pull out a candle
“He probably felt pressured because I asked him to get it, so if you’re gonna get mad at someone, get mad at me!” you said as you started to fake cry
“It’s our father's death anniversary, and you're yelling at kids for making a mistake.” you faked cried
“Yeah!!” yelled the boy making you smile under your hands as the two officers became anxious, feeling bad for what they had just done.
“..we’re sorry. Please let us apologize.” they said slightly bowing at you two
“I don’t think we can accept it...you two also made fun of the dragon tattoo on his head!...dragons were our dads favorite animal. He risked his life fighting for Japan and you two are laughing at him! Is that how your mother taught you how to behave?” you asked pretending to wipe you tears as the blonde boy watched you in awe seeing you toy with grown men
“Please let us treat you both to whatever you’d like from the corner store as an apology!” they both said bowing lower making you smile and look back at the boy. You gave him a thumbs up as a smile grew on his face
“Fine..come on then?” you said as both the officers raised their heads, opening the doors of the corner store for you both
You and the blonde boy walked around the store, filling your baskets with all types of things. The blonde boy watched you in just pure awe as you walked around picking your favorite snacks, as he did the same, glancing at you every now and then.
“Here.” you said smiling at the cops
“Right!” they said frantically taking out their wallets as the boy placed down his stuff nervously, still watching you
“Oh and-” you said reaching your hand to grab the lighter from the officer and placing it into the bunch of snacks
You smiled, your hands were behind your back as you watched the officers pay for yours and the boys' food, placing them into bags for you guys too. You grabbed the lighter and your bag, as the boy did the same
“Mom told us to meet her at the cemetery steps, remember?” you said looking into the boys eyes
“..yeah, I remember.” he said smiling feeling his face become hot
“Let’s go then.” you said smiling and taking his hand as you two ran out of the store
After a bit you two stopped and sat on the curbside while you both chose a snack to eat.
“Here’s your lighter, you don’t have to stay with me by the way.” you said handing him the steel lighter
“..Thanks” he said
“Sure- what do you need it for anyway?” you asked smiling
“My boss asked for it.” he said putting it in his pocket
“Oh, are you in some type of delinquent group?” you asked looking at him
“Yeah..” he said smiling
“That's cool, what do you guys do?” you asked taking a sip of your drink
“We kinda just...like...do stupid stuff and fight..” he said
“Sounds fun, but...stupid.” you said laughing making him scoff
“Why’d you do it?” he asked
“Do what?” you asked back turning you gaze to him
“Come in to cover me. You could’ve gotten in a lot of trouble because of me.” he said with a frustrated face
“You’re right, I just wanted to, that's all.” you said smiling making his mouth part and cheeks redden
“You seem pretty fun too so I thought we could be friends or something..” you said nervously
“Yeah! Sure- We can be friends!” he said happily making you feel flustered
“Well then, it’s nice to meet you, my name is Y/n, yours?” you asked holding over your hand
“Ken, but you can call me Draken-” he said taking ahold of your hand gently as you gave him a closed eyed smile blushing
“where the hell did you find that candle and com up with that whole sob story Y/n?”
“Dunno, I saw the candle on the ground by a newspaper, I kinda just winged it- “
After that day you remember hanging out with Draken almost every other day. You remember him telling you how he and his close friends started their own gang and needed some sort of funding, and so you gave it to him, on his birthday.
“I saved up! You said that you and your friends needed some money to start off so that you guys could buy a flag or banner? Right? Well, here’s 30,000 yen for your birthday!” you said handing him an envelope and a small balloon.
“Are-are you serious right now Y/n?” he asked taking the gifts, opening the envelope to look inside to see the money as his eyes lit up
“Yeah, I babysit more kids now so I was able to put some aside for you.” you said smiling satisfied with his reaction
He didn’t even say anything, all he did was bring his arms around you upper body, hugging you tight making you laugh as you brought yours to hug him back
“Thank you- you’re the best! The guys will be so happy!” he said smiling while grasping your wrists in excitement. Your eyes traced over his face as they soften. You smiled.
“Likewise.”
And- after that, you remember the day you 2 separated as friends. You both sat on the curbside, you remembered you called him to come and see you. It was a winter night and the sun was going down.
“I uh..well I don’t really know how to say this without sounding cliche but-”
“What? Are you gonna confess that you’re madly in love with me or something?” he asked grinning, making you sweat drop
“Jeez be quiet...I’m trying to make this a memorable moment-” you signed smiling, placing your palms on the cold cement
“Alright let’s hear it then Y/n-!” he said bringing his hands to the back of his head as he laid down looking up at the stars
You only frowned slightly, you shifted your position so that you could sit beside him and have a good look at his face.
“You’re scaring me..” he said jokingly making you smile
“It was really fun the past year.” you said smiling as Draken shot his head up to look at you face to face
“The hell are you talking like that for?” he asked furrowing his brows
“My parents can’t afford living in any districts in Tokyo anymore, so we’re moving to another city… about 4 hours train ride from Tokyo so-” you said looking down at your hands on the floor
“So? You act like I won't be able to come and see you or you come and see me..” he said ducking his head a bit so that you could look at him
“Draken, train tickets are about 220 yen per person, I can't afford it, and if you came by to see me I'd feel guilty because you’d be wasting your money just to only see me for like an hour.” you said
“How can I be wasting my money on you? It’s not wasting if I wanna do it and see you, plus what makes you think it'll only be a couple hours?” he asked
“I’ll have to start working once we get there, so I wouldn’t have anytime...I wanna start saving so that one day I can come back to Tokyo and live here, so that I can see your dream come true of helping your friend create a ‘new era of delinquents’ you know? I’ll even help you guys if you want with financial stuff or something.” you said smiling at him
Draken bit the inside of his cheek. He wanted to tell you so bad how he felt but..
“Look, I have a feeling I know what you’re gonna say..just remember what you wanted to say and tell me later, okay?” you said placing your hand on top of his causing his eyes to widen
“...You’ll remember me, right?” he asked looking into your eyes deeply making your mouth part
“Yeah, I’ll remember you as long as you remember what you wanted to tell me. Cause I feel the same” you said smiling as a tear fell from your eyes
“good...I will.” he said smiling back and tilting his head and wiping it off your face
After the memories hit you, you stood there with wide eyes and tears, with your wrist covering your quivering mouth. You had completely suppressed your memories of Draken, and your feelings because you knew you wouldn't be able handle being apart from him for so long. And he did the same. You couldn’t imagine how unbearable it was for him to be waiting up like this. You looked up at him seeing his eyes were softly looking at you. You could do nothing but bring your arms around him hugging him, as he brought his arms around you to do the same. You were still such in shock.
“I never thought you’d end up in a place like this, living a life like this.” he said against your ear
“I don’t wanna see you like this, please let me take care of you like you did for me..” he said said tightening his grip slightly
You could only cry at his words, you didn’t even wanna try to speak because you knew it would only come out as a sob. Was it really alright for you to rely on someone so much?
He pulled back from the hug and looked at your face, seeing you were still crying as you nodded your head ‘yes’, he smiled and wiped them away with his thumb. The smile on his face...he looked so satisfied...and happy...happy that you finally remembered. Finally remembered him.

Tumblr media
The elevator ride to the bottom floor of the building was quick, allowing you to make your way to Garcia’s office in a matter of minutes. There was a plaque up next to the door, indicating that you were in the right place. Taking a moment to steady yourself you exhale before knocking on the door. A voice on the other side tells you to come in so you do. Around you are dozens of impressive looking monitors, all of which are doing something different. On top of the long L-shaped desk there were several small trinkets and toys, bringing a sort of life into the dark room. The woman sitting in front of you spins around in her chair to look at you, a quick flash of confusion on her face. She looks extremely kind and everything about her appearance makes you want to smile.
“Hello. My name is Y/N L/N. Are you Penelope Garcia?”
“Yes, I am. What can I do for you?” Once you’re sure you’re in the right place you step forward to shake her hand. She stands so that you are both on the same level now, shifting awkwardly.
“Sorry to barge in like this. Everything has gone pretty fast this morning. I’m a new agent for the BAU. Today is my first day. The rest of the team just left on a case and SSA Hotchner asked me to stay behind and help from here.” Her face lights up with a bright smile.
“Oh, that’s awesome! It’s really nice to meet you! Please come in, sit down. Make yourself comfortable.” With this, she pulls another chair up to the desk and then sits back down in her own. “I didn’t actually know we had any new agents joining us. That being said, welcome! I’m almost always here by myself so the company will be nice. You and I can get to know each other.” You nod with a smile, watching her as she continues what she was doing. There are several different tabs open across the screens with loads of information that she seems to be compiling. When she sees your incredulous face she laughs.
“I know, it’s a lot. I’m just trying to get as much preliminary information as I can to send to the team. That’s what you’ll be helping me with. We collect research, data, important records. Anything they need to find out, we provide. Kind of cool, right?” Remaining silent, you nod. Upon seeing this, Garcia stops typing for a moment. “I know it may not seem as exciting as field work but it’s still very important. Don’t worry, I’ll make it fun. I promise you won’t be bored.” Patting your knee, she continues typing and you watch carefully now. This is where you will be until the case is over so you intend to make the absolute best of it. Everyone on the team has their own special skills and now is the time to learn from Garcia.
“So what exactly are you looking for right now?”
“I am compiling a list of the victim’s friends and family, plus witnesses from the robberies who might be able to give us any information. This will give the others a clear list of where to go first. I’m also seeing what I can find about the people who were at the banks on the days of the robberies in case there’s anything useful they need to know. Financial troubles, criminal records, anything to possibly link the witnesses to one another.” Scooting your chair forward so you can see better, you lean an elbow on the desk.
“What can I help with?” You ask hopefully.
“Oh, I think that was the sexiest thing I’ve ever heard. I can’t even count on one hand how many times I’ve had someone down here and all they do is sit and look over my shoulder. Sorry, rambling. I can get you logged into a monitor here and it looks like the next thing on my list was looking into the victim’s workplace. Sound good?”
“Yes, absolutely.” She moves over quickly and gets a separate monitor opened so you can begin researching.
“We’ll probably do what research we can in the next twenty to thirty minutes and then we’ll call the team to tell them what we’ve found out.” With that, you make quick work of doing everything you can in the time you have. Even if it is the last thing you ever do, you will prove to Aaron Hotchner just how valuable a team member you are.
++++++++++
The jet takes off fairly soon once the team is onboard. They all stow their go-bags and begin settling in for the flight. It is going to be a longer one today so they are all preparing themselves for the journey. Aaron finds a seat near a far window where he sets the case file down in front of himself and begins reading. His mind is swimming with thoughts and he will do anything to quiet them. The scene plays out over and over in his head, the memory still painfully fresh. Why had he said those things? He was unnecessarily harsh and he is fully aware of this. Now the first memory you’ll have of starting your dream job will be your new boss treating you appallingly. What had even compelled him to speak to you that way? Seeing you had overwhelmed him. The way you looked when you came into his office for the first time. The way your hair framed your face, the light hopefulness in your eyes, the way you captivated him with your movements. Standing there, just feet away from him, you had looked just as beautiful as the first day he met you. God, why did he lie like that? How could he have said he didn’t recognize you when you had stayed in his thoughts more times than he would like to admit over the past year? All the emotions he felt at the mere thought of you made him nauseous and he had no way of understanding them. As badly as he felt for it, he knew that for the time being it would be best to let you work from the BAU headquarters.
“Hotch, are you okay?” JJ’s voice brings him quickly back to reality. The fact that she could see how deeply in thought he was makes him feel an odd sense of shame and he straightens in his seat.
“Of course, I’m fine.” With this, she goes back to her own seat. With a huff of exhaustion, Hotch continues reading. The cabin is silent for a time as the other team members sit reading their case files.
“So,” Morgan’s voice breaks the quiet. “What do we think of Y/N?” The mention of your name causes Hotch to perk up against his will.
“Well, I like her.” Emily is the first to chime in. “I know you guys all got to meet her before me but there’s just something about her. An inherent sweetness. I’m really excited to work with her.”
“Me, too,” JJ says next. “I thought she was kind and open. In this job, that kind of personality is hard to find. I just hope the things she sees doesn’t cause her to lose that. The world needs more kind people, not less. She seems tough though. I think she can handle it.”
“I totally agree,” Morgan adds, leaning back in his chair with his arms crossed. “She’s got a little bit of fierceness in her but I like that. You’ve gotta be tough to do this job but she’s also sweet. That’s important too. Plus, that kid’s got the cutest smile. Kind of reminds me of my sisters.” At the mention of your smile, Hotch closes his eyes briefly trying to picture that smile directed at him. He quickly catches himself and looks back down at the file.
“Well, I can’t say I know her that well yet but she seems intelligent. She certainly has eagerness to learn. I think that will help her be successful. It’s very ... refreshing.” Spencer says with a small smile.
“I agree. Right off the bat she’s got a very likable energy,” Rossi begins letting himself trail off for a moment. “Although, I have to say there is something about her that is so familiar. I can’t quite place how I might know her though. Her name too, I recognize it. For a second I thought she recognized me too but I can’t be sure.” The rest of the team watches him for a moment as he tries to recollect how he knows you but he quickly comes up blank. “I’m sure I’ll think of it eventually. Nevertheless she seems like a good kid. I’m excited to see her at work. Just a shame we’ll all have to wait.”
Hearing this Aaron shifts in his seat, knowing that the comment is directed at him since he was the one that made you stay behind. He is suddenly very aware of the other team members looking at him.
“Yeah, Hotch. Why isn’t she here? I thought for sure you’d wanna see what she can do.” Derek locks eyes with Aaron, causing him to debate how to answer the question. All his life Hotch has worked to control his feelings and the way that they manifest so his face remains expressionless as he thinks for a short second.
“I think that for right now her time would be better spent helping Garcia and getting used to her new environment. I agree that she does seem very intelligent and more than capable. I would just like to speak with her one on one first before thrusting her into the high intensity atmosphere that comes with our line of work.” However, this answer doesn’t seem to satisfy Morgan’s curiosity.
“She told me when she came out of your office that you said you didn’t remember her. Is that true?” This continued line of questioning makes his blood begin to boil. Aaron Hotchner of all people knows that lies are what cause the foundations of trust to crumble. If he can’t be honest with himself, how can he expect to be honest with his team? And yet, he finds himself unable to expose his own misdeed.
“Yes, that is correct. We’ve had a lot of cases come and go in the last few years and no one should be expected to remember every interaction they have in that length of time. According to her it was only one day and it was a long time ago at that. I apologized to her and she understood. That is the end of it.”
“Look, I’m not passing judgement Hotch. I’m just saying I can understand why she was so hurt,” Hearing this causes his heart to clench. “She looks up to you. She didn’t even have to tell me that, I could just see it. You mentored her in a time that was very uncertain, when she had a lot to prove. She still has a lot to prove and I’m sure she thought that you would have her back and the first thing you tell her is that you don’t even remember who she is? I get it man, you’re under a lot of stress right now but she’s a part of your team. I just thought you of all people would be a little more sensitive than that.”
His words cut right through Aaron’s heart like a knife but before he has a chance to say anything the laptop screen in the center of the cabin lights up, revealing you and Garcia. Glad for a break from the tension the rest of the team members look toward the screen. With one last glance at Morgan, Hotch leans towards him. “We will discuss this later.” His voice is firm and dangerous but he pulls away to look at the laptop. “What did you find?” He directs at the two of you.
Seeing him causes you to straighten in your seat as you ready yourself to put on your most professional face. Garcia begins telling everyone what she was able to find out about the victim. She has significantly more information than you do but once she’s done she allows you to share what you found. The victim worked at a local grocery store but he had been previously employed at the bank where the robbery took place. The team begin building a rough profile based on the information. You listen closely to their analysis of the unsubs, making mental notes on what you might add to the profile. Before you have a chance to add anything, Hotch thanks the two of you for your work and hangs up. For a moment, you could swear you saw a hint of sadness when he looked at you but you were sure it was just a glitch on the screen.
“Sorry sweetpea. I could totally tell you wanted to add something. They can be pretty abrupt like that sometimes.” You simply give a small shrug. “Well, why don’t you tell me what it was? It’ll give you a little practice for building profiles.” She scoots to the edge of her chair, looking at you intently to which you give a small laugh.
“Well, as we know all of the unsubs are large burly men. The five of them could easily subdue the few weaker people that were present at each of the robberies and yet they chose to bring guns. I believe this shows that they feel a certain sense of inadequacy in their everyday lives. Despite their masculine appearance I would suspect they all have mediocre jobs where they are looked down upon or treated poorly. It’s possible that they all work at the same place but I would imagine they probably met somewhere else. Maybe a support group of some sort. The use of weapons gives them a sense of power over the victims that helps them live out their mass fantasy. The victim of the last crime scene was shot in the head which indicates some personal relationship between him and the unsub who pulled the trigger. That could be a good place to start.”
“Well, it definitely makes sense to me. Maybe we can start looking in to possible support groups for these type of men. Oh, and anyone that might possibly have had reason to kill our victim.” Garcia immediately begins typing and you scoot closer to her side.
“Shouldn’t we wait for the order from Hotch?” She laughs at this.
“Trust me, sweetheart. At the end of the day he’s gonna thank us for the head start. One thing to know about the boss man. He likes to see initiative but he also wants you to follow his exact orders. It’s a fine balance but once you figure out how to work the line, he’s gonna love you for it.” The thought of Hotch loving you for anything at all in the world makes your heart flutter. Almost instantly you stop that train of thought and berate yourself for even entertaining it.
“Well, I guess we better get started then.” The rest of the day goes smoothly. You and Garcia coordinate everything beautifully, finding a good amount of information that you save to send to Hotch at the most convenient time. The day seems to be over almost as quickly as it began and you thank Garcia before heading out to your car. The drive home seems to be much more monotonous than before. It seems like you’re back inside your apartment and stretched out on the couch before you can hardly blink. Rolling over, you reach for your phone which you had thrown on the coffee table. With a groan, you begin dialing your sister’s number. As much as today sucked there was no one in the world you’d rather vent to than your sister.
“Well hey there babe. I’ve been patiently awaiting your call. Give me just a minute to get sat down. I want to hear every last detail.” There are sounds of shuffling on the other side of the phone as she finds a seat. “Okay, I’m all good. Now, tell me about your first day at the BAU! Was it everything you dreamed it would be?”
“Yeah, not exactly,” You laugh. “It was kind of rough to be honest.” There is a moment of silence as you think how to begin.
“Okay. Start at the beginning, walk me through it.”
“Alright. Well, I got inside and I was honestly just in awe of being there, just getting to stand in that room. It felt like I was invincible. Derek Morgan was the first one to talk to me. He was just as charming as I remembered. Anyway, he introduced me to the rest of the team and we got to talk for a bit which was really nice, you know? From the get go I really felt like part of the team.”
“Now you know I hate to interrupt but all of this sounds great!”
“Yeah, well, that was the best part of the day and it didn’t last very long. After I met everyone I went up to Aaron Hotchner’s office to give him my paperwork. I’m sure you know by now that I was pretty excited to see him again, right? Well, when I told him how excited I was to be working with him again he told me that he didn’t actually know who I was. He completely forgot about me. I mean, I guess I get it. It’s been a year and a half and he meets a lot of people. Why would he remember me specifically?”
“Y/N, don’t invalidate your own feelings. What he said upset you and it’s okay to be hurt. That would have hurt my feelings too. You’re a really great person and he sucks for not thinking about you ever since he met you.” Hearing this, you can’t help but laugh a bit. Her ability to defend you no matter what always cheers you up.
“Thank you. I appreciate that. I just wish he thought the same. Anyway, I gave him my paperwork so I could travel with the team. They got a case this morning and I was planning to go with them but for some reason Hotch made me stay behind even though I am cleared to be in the field. It just really bummed me out because I was super ready to get out there and start working but I got benched for my very first case. He had me stay with this girl named Garcia, she’s the team’s technical analyst. I mean, she’s really sweet and we worked super well together but I just wish I could have been out there doing the things that I spent seven years of my life training for.”
“I am so sorry. That sucks. I know how excited you were. Look at the bright side, this is only your first case. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to get out there and prove yourself. It’s all gonna work out.” Unable to keep from smiling, you roll over on your side.
“Thanks. I really hope you’re right.” Sensing the fact that you’re still upset she decides to help by changing the subject.
“So, who all did you meet today? I know you already knew a few of the team members but was there anybody new?”
“Yeah, Elle and Gideon are no longer there. I’m really sad I missed getting to work with them but the people I met seem really amazing. The first girl I met was named Emily Prentiss. She was really nice. The other was a guy named David Rossi.” When you finish your sentence there is nothing but silence on the other end of the phone. You wait a minute for your sister’s response but there is nothing. Before you can ask what’s wrong she chimes in again.
“Did you say David Rossi?” There is a tone in her voice that you don’t recognize and it causes concern to stir in your stomach.
“Yeah, why? What’s up?” There is another moment of silence.
“It’s -- it’s nothing. I shouldn’t bring it up. You’ve already had a rough day.” As if she can sense your anxiety she continues. “Don’t worry, it’s nothing bad. I promise I’ll tell you later, okay? I just don’t think we should talk about it right now, that’s all.” As much as you want to pry you can tell that no matter how much you ask, you’re not getting the answer out of her. With a sense of unease you agree and try changing the conversation again. Once you’ve changed the topic to something other than work you can feel her ease again and the two of you talk for nearly 45 minutes. After a while you decide to call it a night and shortly afterwards you find yourself in bed. You hadn’t even realized how exhausted you were until your head hit the pillow. Your sleep is dreamless which you decide in the morning is probably a good thing.
++++++++++
The remainder of the case is spent hunkered down in Garcia’s office either doing frantic research or simply getting to know one another. In just a short while the two of you become very fast friends. You realize quickly that you share a lot of common interests and all of your conversations are endlessly fascinating. It also doesn’t take you very long to realize that you actually enjoy the work that you do with her. There is quite a bit of skill required to dig as deeply and accurately as the two of you do. It is a race against the clock to find everything you need in order to help the team and there is a certain level of excitement that comes with that. Of course you still wish you were out in the field but in the end you learn a lot and make a good friend along the way. The case ends rather succinctly with all five unsubs found and arrested with no more casualties along the way. It’s a good feeling, knowing that you helped to catch the bad guys and no one had to die for you to do so. The day the team is set to return you and Garcia head out for coffee before they show up, figuring that you deserve a little treat after all of your hard work. You make light conversation as you make your way back into the building just in time for the team to arrive. You watch them each make their way to their desks, setting down their bags and taking a moment to rest. Of course the last one to walk in is Hotch who heads straight up to his office, shutting the door behind him.
When you feel like it’s an appropriate time you make your way over to Morgan’s desk. Upon seeing you his lips crack into a wide smile.
“Well hey sweetheart! I have to say, you did awesome work on this case.” As he says this, he extends his hand for a high five which you quickly grant him. “I know it wasn’t easy having to sit out but you did great. I’m proud of you.” It takes everything in you not to blush.
“Thanks. I learned a lot and I made a good friend along the way.”
“Yeah, Garcia’s pretty great isn’t she?” He says with a knowing smile.
“She definitely is. She talks about you a lot, you know.”
“Oh, I know. Baby girl just can’t stop thinking about me. Not that I blame her, of course.” At this you lightly punch his arm.
“You are both such teases.” This makes Morgan laugh.
“We gotta keep things interesting.” He leans forward as though he’s about to start his paperwork but he quickly leans back to look at you. “Hey, now that I’m back we gotta go out for drinks tonight. Everyone else is already game so long as you are.”
“Yeah, I’d like that.” You confirm with a grin.
“Great. You know, I’d say I’m buying but I kind of feel like you owe me.” Your brow furrows in confusion.
“What do you mean by that?”
“Well, I was trying to get some answers for you so I asked Hotch why he wouldn’t let you on the case and he royally chewed me out for it. In his defense I probably shouldn’t have asked in front of the rest of the team but that decision still just doesn’t sit right with me.” Morgan’s words mingle in your head. It doesn’t sit right with you either but it isn’t really your place to question your boss’ orders.
“I’m sorry he got upset with you. I do appreciate you defending me though. You’re my knight in shining denim.”
“Anytime kid. I’m happy to help.” Getting to talk to Morgan has almost instantly lifted your spirits. However, it doesn’t take long for your heart to drop into your stomach.
“Agent L/N. May I speak to you in my office please?” You hadn’t even noticed that Hotch had come out of his office until his voice drew your attention to him. With a quick look at Morgan, who gives you a reassuring glance, you push yourself off his desk and make your way over to where Hotch is standing. Once you’re at his side he extends a hand, allowing you to step inside first. He follows quickly, shutting the door behind him. “Please, have a seat.” He says, gesturing towards a leather couch on the far wall. As you begin to sit on one end he takes up residence on the other, his knee just inches away from yours. Once you’re both settled he focuses all of his attention on you. He doesn’t seem angry but you aren’t holding your breath. It’s best to just stay professional and speak with him earnestly.
“I’m glad to see you all back safely sir.” You begin. After the stress of the case, you want to make sure he knows that as hurt as you were by his previous decision you harbor no ill will towards him.
“Thank you. It’s not very often that cases end as well as this one did. You understand that, don’t you? This was a special circumstance.”
“Yes, I realize that. I’m just grateful that it did end happily even if it was just this once.” There is an intensity in the way he watches you.
“Good. I just want to make sure you fully know what to expect.”
“I do sir. I did the day that I applied for school. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t.” Staying silent for a moment he nods as if in thought.
“I know before I left I said we would be able to talk. I’d like to learn a little bit more about you and from there I’ll be able to evaluate your abilities before taking you into the field. I know it wasn’t the decision you were hoping for but I hope you understand it nonetheless.”
“Of course. It’s not my place to question you and in the end I learned a lot from Garcia. Plus she was nice to work with.”
“Good. I’m very glad to hear that you were able to make the most of the situation.” He stops for a moment, his gaze relaxing. “I wanted to tell you how well you did on this case. A challenge was presented to you and you handled it with grace. The information you provided was incredibly helpful and your suggestions were very well thought out. I was very impressed.” The softness in his eyes as he praises you leaves a fluttering sensation in your stomach. Throughout the entirety of the case you had been so hell bent on proving yourself to him and hearing him say that you had done well made every hour of hard work worth it. As much as your heart is singing you have to remind yourself to be calm. Even though he is being kind to you now, he had made his feelings known to you during your first meeting. There is no reason to read into things. Clearly he doesn’t feel what you feel.
“Thank you sir. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed when I was left behind but I realized that I’m grateful to be here no matter what. I worked really hard to get here, to be doing this kind of work, and not everyone gets the chance to do what they’re truly meant to be doing. As heartbreaking as the outcome of this job usually is, I can’t imagine myself doing anything else.” With every word the two of you are locked into one another’s eyes. For a moment you can almost swear he is holding his breath.
“I appreciate that sense of purpose. I will always support my team but it makes it easier with members who are invested.”
“I am. Completely. I’m here. I know you haven’t gotten a real chance to see me work but please know that my heart is in this.”
“That was never in question,” Hotch pauses, letting his eyes fall to his lap as he considers his next sentence. “I believe now that I made a rash decision in asking you to stay behind. I can see that you are mentally prepared to be in the field. I apologize for my harsh words. I of course can’t say anything for your physical performance yet but I won’t be able to evaluate the full extent of your abilities until I am able to watch you in the field. On the next case I would like you to join the rest of the team.” A breath of relief leaves your lips.
“Of course. I’m ready to get to work.”
“I know. You’ll have the chance soon enough. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns feel free to come speak with me.”
“Thank you sir.” Hotch simply nods in response, beginning to stand. You follow his actions, gathering that he is done with the conversation. As you make your way to the door, feeling much lighter than when you came in, he stops you.
“Agent L/N,” The sound of his voice causes you to turn back. “I just wanted to say again that I’m sorry for not remembering you. I never meant to hurt you. It isn’t that you were forgettable. It’s just that a lot has happened in the last year.” This apology seems much more heartfelt than before and you try to hide a smile.
“I forgive you, sir.” With that you take your leave, making your way right back to Morgan’s desk. The shift in your mood must be palpable because he looks up at you with a smile.
“That’s not the face of someone that just got yelled at by Hotch.”
“No, no he didn’t yell at me. He was just telling me I did a good job and he cleared me to work in the field on the next case.”
“Good for you, kid. I’m glad we’re finally gonna get a chance to see what you can really do,” Nodding you rest against the edge of his desk again. “Now, see? That wasn’t too bad was it?” Looking back towards Hotch’s office you can see him bent over his desk, filling out paperwork. Being able to watch him for a moment without fear of falling apart allows you to crack a small smile.
“No. I guess it wasn’t.”

Once In A Lifetime
Tumblr media
Summary: While at a brewery the day before her sister’s wedding, the reader runs into her once in a lifetime fling, Dean, for the third time. It’s been fours years since they’ve seen each other and eight since they met but the timing’s never seemed to work out between them until maybe now...
Pairing: Wedding Date!Dean x reader
Square: Wedding Date!AU
Word Count: 2,100ish
Warnings: language, fluff
A/N: Written for @supernatural-jackles Tell Me A Story Bingo. Enjoy!
______
“Y/N fucking Y/L/N,” you heard as you were mid chew of eating your piece of pizza. You spun around and swallowed, a big grin crossing your face.
“Dean!” you said. You ditched your table with your family and ran over to him, Dean giving you a big hug and swinging you around. “You look great!”
“You got even better looking, sweetheart,” he grinned as he set you down. You bit your bottom lip and he blushed a bit. “You look good, Y/N. Never expected to see you again, especially Kansas City of all places.”
“I’m in town for a family wedding. I thought you lived in LA?” you said.
“Used to. I own this place,” he said. “How long’s it been?”
“Four years. Another four before that,” you said.
“So much for once in a lifetime,” he smirked.
“Still a boy in there, aren’t you, Dean.”
“A bit,” he smiled. “Older too.”
“Same. We were just kids back then.”
“We’re still kids. We just got most of our shit together now,” he said.
“Oh yes. Still single and still working a job I hate. I so got my shit together,” you said.
“I wear makeup for a living so you’re doing better than me,” he said. “Also still single.”
“I thought you dated some actress or something a while back.”
“Didn’t work out. Put my head down, been working a lot lately,” he said. “Am I about to meet your fangirl sister you told me about?”
“Oh God,” you said as you caught Georgia wandering over from your table with Scott. “I am so-”
“Hi!” she said and you groaned. “Do you know my little sister?”
“Y/N and I go way back,” said Dean. Georgia slapped your arm and you whined.
“You’re friends with him and you didn’t tell me!” she said.
“Oh well we haven’t seen each other in years,” said Dean. Georgia looked at you and you shook your head, her own nodding.
“He’s Italy Dean, isn’t he. Dean Winchester is freaking Italy Dean!” she said and Scott covered her mouth, shaking his head.
“Gia, let’s leave your sister to catch up with her friend in peace, hm?” he said.
“This is why I love you Scott,” you said as he dragged her away.
“I like her,” chuckled Dean. “How long you in town for?”
“A few days. Rehearsal dinner is tonight, wedding tomorrow, head home the next day.”
“Not much free time then,” he said.
“Yeah I-” you said before Georgia screamed. You turned around, your sister stomping around and shouting into a phone.
“It’s tomorrow! They wait until the last minute to call and cancel the venue!” she said. Scott seemed miffed which was probably as angry as he ever got and your mom was already over trying to calm them both down.
“You can use the brewery,” said Dean quietly. He shrugged as you stared up at him. “We’ve been toying with reserving for private parties over on the far side of the property. Strand lights, farmhouse style wedding, yada yada.”
“Can it look like this?” you asked as you pulled out your phone. You showed him a picture of the venue and the style Georgia had wanted to go for. “I can call all the vendors. All we need here is tables, clean up, you get the drill.”
“What time is the wedding?” he asked.
“1. Reception starts at 4, was supposed to go to about midnight or so.”
“You’re the maid of honor I presume.”
“Can we make this work? I know she sounds insane but she’s actually really sweet most of the time.”
“I’m gonna need help setting this up. Might be an all nighter.”
“I like coffee,” you said. He nodded and you turned around. “Gia! Calm down! I got a solution for ya.”
“Hi,” said Dean as you pulled into the employee parking lot at around ten that night. “How’d the dinner go?”
“Fine. Gia’s stressed out so Scott and I got her drunk. I told her I had it handled,” you said. “I have dunkin and my sneakers and put me to work.”
“The guys are nearly done with the lights. I need you to help me with tables and stuff, where you want everything,” said Dean.
“Alright,” you said. “Do you have a notebook I can borrow?”
“Pad of paper work?” he asked as you followed him into the back of the brewery. You hummed and he handed it over along with a pen. You cut through a side door and found yourself outside, staring at a whole bunch of lights in trees and along a privacy fence.
“Oh she’s gonna love this,” you said as you walked out there. You started to jot down where trees were and drew some tables on the paper, rearranging them a few times before you held it up to Dean. “Can you put the tables like this?”
“Definitely can do. I’ll handle the forklift, you tell me where you want the picnic tables,” he said.
Forty minutes later the tables were out back and you’d laid out some rubber mats to act as a dance floor with one of Dean’s employees.
“So DJ is there…” you said to yourself as Dean whistled for you to come over to where he and a few guys were laying out the impromptu bar top. “What’s up?”
“We were just wondering how fancy is your sister? Like is it that fairytale farmhouse thing or she like it more rustic?”
“She’s the former. My future brother in law is the later. He’s the one from here,” you said. “I was just thinking we’d throw a table cloth over the top of whatever we use for a bar.”
“We still got that piece we didn’t use in the second room?” said a man.
“The too dark of stain one? Yeah, it’s in storage. I bet that’d work great,” said a different guy. They took off and you took a deep breath as you looked around.
“It’s getting there,” said Dean. “If you want to head back to your hotel I think we can handle the rest.”
“It’s not that late,” you said. “I can do the tables while you guys figure out the bar situation if that’s cool.”
“Alright. Let me know if you want any help, sweetheart,” he said. You crossed your arms and he mimicked you, tilting his head down.
“Thank you for all of this. Georgia will love it.”
“I’m not doing it for Georgia,” he said with a soft smile. You bit your lip and turned your head, feeling Dean step closer. “If I asked you to stay a few more days, would you?”
“Dean-”
“Would you?”
“Yes.”
“Then stay. Let’s try this for real.”
“I thought you weren’t a commitment kind of guy. That’s what you said.”
“You said there were no strings attached and yet here we are eight years later and I am as smitten as the first time I saw you.” You looked up at him, Dean reminding you of just how easy it was to fall in love with him.
And how hard it was to fall out of it after the two you went your separate ways. Twice.
“Dean it’s never worked before.”
“We never tried. Italy was the two of us having fun and falling way too hard and fast and it scared the shit out of us both. And your car...that couldn’t have been coincidence. We spent the night in that motel room being goofy and reconnecting and then you got so hard when we said goodbye.”
“It’s kinda hard to get over you.”
“Don’t get over me this time,” he said. “I never did with you.”
“I can’t be with a celebrity and do that stuff.”
“Oh yes, I live a very glamorous life,” he said as he looked around. “Should I get out the forklift again?”
“Dean you know what I mean. You were coming up eight years ago. Four you had fans. Now you got even more. I live in a one bedroom apartment and work on sales reports from my kitchen table.”
“If you work from home then staying down here a few more days shouldn’t be a problem,” he said.
“Dean you’re gonna break my fucking heart again and I don’t want to put it back together. Can we just leave it at friends?”
“Okay.” He unfolded his arms and cupped your face with both hands, pulling you into a deep kiss. You grabbed onto his shirt and slid your hand up to his face, Dean slow to break it off. “I don’t want to wait another four years.”
“I’ll stay a few days and if I’m not convinced there’s something…” you said as Dean chuckled. “Oh shut up you hopeless romantic.”
You brought your lips to his, moving slowly, Dean’s hands wrapping around to your hip, the nape of your neck, kissing you as gently as he did the first time he had.
“Uh, boss,” said a voice. You stepped away from each other and he grunted. “We got some barrels we could use to rest the top on.”
“Yeah,” said Dean. “Sounds good. Right?”
“Very good,” you said with a nod. “Dean, you uh, mind helping me with the tables?”
“Not at all, sweetheart.”
The Next Evening
“Hey,” you said as you found Dean in a suit, no tie, top collar undone and helping serve some beer from the taproom.
“Hey. You want a glass?” he asked.
“Sure,” you said. He poured two and excused himself, heading back with you over towards the reception. “I really can’t thank you enough. My sister loves it even more than the original place.”
“It’s no problem. I’m glad I could help out,” he said. You stopped just outside the reception, Dean smiling as he sipped from his glass.
“Would you dance with me?”
“Sure,” he said. He set his glass down and took yours, placing it with his own before he grabbed your hips and started to sway slowly.
“I meant at the wedding,” you laughed.
“But we’re already dancing,” he smiled. He spun you around and hummed quietly. “You look gorgeous tonight.”
“Thank you. You clean up well, Winchester.”
“This old thing?” he chuckled. “It’s my lucky suit.”
“You wore it that night. I thought you were gonna blow me off.”
“Went out and bought it after that afternoon. You wore that pretty white summer dress with the ruffles.”
“Couldn’t exactly wear a white dress tonight,” you said.
“I’m sure you’ll wear one someday,” he said. “You got plans after the party?”
“Might see this guy if he’s available. Not sure yet.”
“Oh he is. He knows a late night diner not too far with big greasy burgers if she’s interested. Plus he’s got a cool car.”
“Let’s go,” you said as you brushed your lips over his.
“Is the wedding over?”
“It’s dying down. I don’t want to wait any longer.”
“Let’s go.” He held out his arm and you stuck yours through it, Dean escorting you out to his car. You felt cooler out in the open air and he shrugged off his suit jacket, slipping it over your shoulders. You stuck your arms through and he opened the door for you, smiling to himself. “Ladies first.”
“Dean?” you said before you sat down. You pecked a kiss to his lips and he inhaled sharply. “Maybe I can stay longer than a few days?”
“You could just stay forever,” he said.
“Maybe I will,” you said. He cupped your cheek and grinned, kissing you slowly. “Don’t go away again.”
“Never, sweetheart. Let’s see if we can get a start on forever finally.”

Single (Jeno x you)
a/n : i may forgot how to write (?) anyways this is a jeno piece I work quickly today for @neopalette
hope this is entertaining enough and to all dream stans out there this is for you :D
setting is all dream members considered to be in the same age as you.
enjoy!!
People have been pestering you with the same question, “Why are you still single?”
Well you cannot really answer them and say, “I don’t know why don’t you date me?” As much as you want to shut them up with those words, you knew it’ll only turn awkward.
Well to be honest, you've been asking yourself that. It's not that you're unattractive or unsocial. You're the total opposite! Cute, caring, and fun.
You have friends or a group of school's princes as your hang out friends. It's just a lucky coincidence. You're the childhood best friend of Jeno and that guy’s really like your brother (despite the same age you share). He always brings you to his outings and you slowly develop a good friendship with the boys.
What irks other people is that the fact you're in a position every girl is willing to die for. Standing on the side of the class, leaning to the wall while laughing with a circle of the most popular guys in the school.
Now their question is, why are the boys so attached to you and why are you not dating anyone of them? Well, first you do want to date anyone of them. Literally anyone because you feel so chill and relax around them. They make you feel save too! But what is this? Friendzone? Maybe. Or “I see you as my sister.”
One day as you walk through the hall with one of the boys, Jeno, both of you overheard a group of girls talking.
“I know right, there's no way she is not leeching over them. Did she use some magic? She's so usual like us why do they choose her?”
“You're right its either she pays them, or she buys them with money. She came from a quiet decent family. No way she is not crushing anyone there. If she does not, she's crazy.”
You try to ignore them, but your heart is sad. No, you do not “buy" your friendship. They even treat you more than you did to them.
Jeno heard them and apparently, he was riled up and he went to the group of girls who looked shocked but tried to act normal.
“Excuse me pretty girls,” he nicely greets them with his smile and friendly composition. You close your eyes, knowing this will just give you trouble.
They look struck by Jeno’s close presence and melt into his charm. “I am here to remind you, what you’re doing is making false rumor and that is not good. It doesn’t suit you.”
Jeno forces a deadly smile and turns his heels back to you when the girls nod their head like they heard him clear. Their eyes found yours and you already gulp down the heavy lump in your throat when they send you a death glare.
“What are you doing?” you question Jeno once he returns to your side and starts walking as if nothing happens.
“Just reminding some girls what they’re doing is not good.” He shrugs his shoulder “You should speak up you know. You’re a great listener to us and what they said were wrong, so you should speak up.”
You nod “I know, it’s hard Jeno. I’ll let them think of me that way, besides you guys know my real side, why do I have to bother them.”
That actually makes a little bit of sense according to you and Jeno, but when you meet the gang during lunch break and Jeno told them what happened, well the boys cannot keep it low.
“I’m not going to help them anymore.” Renjun scoffs when he hears the story.
“You should really speak up (y/n)! You’re our amazing friend and we cannot let them think of you this way.” Jisung chimes in, which is something rare.
You smile and laugh “Thanks guys, but this doesn’t sound like you at all. I am the one getting judged, why are you the confused one? Besides what bothers me is not that, but something else.”
“And what exactly is that?” Haechan suddenly pops into the discussion. He surprised all of you, well earlier Mark and him were called for a help in the teacher’s room, and you guys were sitting on the backyard (a rare meeting place) so it’s a surprise they found you.
“I cannot tell you now. I promise I’ll tell you once I am ready.” You fiddle with your uniform skirt.
“Okay, we won’t push you.” Jeno smiles at you and you thank the others as the bell of the last quarter rang.
--
You spend the last quarter lost in your own mind. You keep on questioning yourself, is it true you look like that in other people’s eyes. Of course they do not know what happened between you and the boys behind their back.
You listened to every single problem they have, they share it to you through messages at the middle of the nights. Each slowly opening up to you, showing their vulnerable sides. You never judge them, instead you comfort them by staying with them. Just listening and being there for them. They like you because of that and you never share their secrets to the other. It started with Jisung opening up to you, then Chenle, then the harder shells to read like Jaemin Jeno and Renjun. Mark and Hyuck also lately come to you for sharing sessions.
You know people do not have to know that to clap and give you recognitions, you did this out of empathy and care. Plus they make a good gang to play and have fun with. Having a friendship bond with boys is less dramatic and more fun.
You push a smile back to hide your own emotion and luckily they bought it when you say “Let’s not bother or mind what others think about me. As long as you know the real me, I am glad with it.”
--
“You should stop acting like you’re fine.” Your longest best friend says when both of you have parted ways with the others and walk side by side on the empty road.
You look at Jeno and he doesn’t have his friendly smile on. His face looks serious.
“I am fine, but I could probably use a boyfriend card to take care of me and make me finer.” You joke around a little bit. Teasing the boys about you wanting a boyfriend is always fun.
They always say no but they never cross the line because they are afraid that being in a relationship with you may cut the nice friendship if things go wrong (break ups!)
“You’re still questioning that?” Jeno sighs, you’ve been talking about this to him. You always code him that you want to know what it’s like to be in a relationship, but Jeno just says “You’ll regret the drama”. He did date a few girls but finally settle on being single until he is ready for commitments. You, on the other hand, are single from birth. You always befriend boys to the point where they’re too comfortable with you to see you in a romantic way.
“Well I always wonder why and where did I do wrong.” You shrug your shoulder
“I want to be in a relationship! I want to know what it’s like to  have someone take care of me, or me taking care of them. I want short goodnight and good morning texts. I want to walk with them home and maybe grab some bite along the way while we discuss small things. Oh and I want to just you know sit together, listen to a music from a shared earphone and act like we’re the main characters of a movie!” you have stars in your eyes and as Jeno stares into the sky, he notices the beautiful sunset.
“You’re being single for too long. I tell you, that did not always happen.” He mocks your ridiculous idea and playfully ruffles your hair “You read too much fantasies.”
“I never read them.” You glare at him and he nods “Now that explains why you also sound so clueless about relationship. Look, it’s not as simple as saying I love yous and holding hands in public. There’s more and as much as I hate to tell you this… I have to.” He pauses and you stop walking.
You look at him. Waiting for Jeno to continue “Look, you don’t need a boyfriend right now. You’re taking care of so many people and that’s great, but that is time consuming already. If you have a boyfriend, then you will pay more attention to them and counting the time you spend taking care of us, will make you neglect your life and study and fail school. Which is something I do not want to happen.”
Your eyebrow raise “Conclusion?”
“You don’t need a boyfriend, or at least right now you should focus on taking care of yourself. You did a lot to us, let us take care of you in return.” Jeno whispers, and deep inside his heart he adds “or maybe let me take care of you in a way you always wish to get. You don’t know how much I love you and seeing you want a boyfriend only pains me. Will I be ready to lose you?”
“Fine. It’s not like I can buy one from a store.” You start walking again and Jeno follows you.
“Silly idea, ignore that okay.” You feel shy about saying that to him, what will Jeno think of you? A creepy freak.
NO. IN JENO’S HEAD YOU LOOK SUPER CUTE. WANTING TO HAVE A BOYFIE, EVEN GOING INTO THE DETAILS.
“Alright, this is it, good bye and good night (y/n)” Jeno waves as you enter your porch and open the door. You look to the house right next to yours, separated just by a wall. Yes he is your neighbor.
“Good night Jeno! Thank you for accompanying me.” You disappear behind the door and continue your lonely life.
“Hey Jaehyun hyung-“ you greet your brother who is amazingly already homed already at this time.
“Oh hey, dinner is on the table.” He juts his chin to the dining table and your eyes fall to the set of plates.
“You’ve eaten?” you ask while washing your hands, getting ready to change and eat.
He nods “Boss was awful today, I got home quickly and was hungry. Sorry I left you to eat by yourself.”
“Any news about mom?” you ask when you’re back on the table ready to eat.
Jaehyun still sits in front of the TV, looks like he is having a bad day and is afraid of lashing emotions to you, thus he avoids you.
“She’s probably with that man again. No news.” He sounds bitter. Well, after father left mom also left to find another man. You were left alone with your brother, who has to work hard for you and him.
“Help me with some clothes will you?” Jaehyun asks when you’re done cleaning up and washing the dish. “We need to deliver the laundries to the neighbors.” Jaehyun stands up from his seat and goes back to you with a packed fresh clothes.
You and your brother run a small laundry services for the neighbors here. Well, your family left both of you with the house and utilities inside them, one of which is a laundry machine and a dryer. So for additional income you and Jaehyun did laundries.
“It’s by the end of the road, can you please drop this tomorrow morning? I am taking the one on the other side.” He shows you which packages should go where and with that you leave to your room.
You’re glad your father still pays for your tuition, but you have to keep your scholarship going or you’ll be in trouble. Right as you finish studying and doing your papers, your phone vibrates and Jeno’s name appear.
“Good night (y/n), sweet dreams!”
You glance to the window and look into the window across yours, it’s Jeno’s room and you can see his silhouette sitting on his desk probably still gaming. You smile a little and text him back and the next thing you see is his room going dark. Oh he really is sleeping!
You set your alarm and also take the long awaited sleep you needed.
--
“Good morning (y/n) oh and Jaehyun hyung!” Jeno greets you and Jaehyun on the front of your house. Jaehyun’s locking the door and taking his bike to work.
“Morning Jeno.” You feel happier with this kind of small acts. It’s not new, but something about his smile and genuine happiness is making you energized.
“Don’t forget to drop the laundry.” Jaehyun said after hugging you goodbye.
You don’t forget. With Jeno on your side, you walk to the house on the edge and knock on their door to deliver the package and receive the money. It’s nothing big, but definitely enough to buy you lunch and safe some for the piggy bank.
“Still running the laundry business eh?” he looks surprised, guess you usually deliver them not in the morning or he’d known already.
“Yes, usually I send them near evening, but today is special. Imagine if the school finds out I am doing this, maybe they’ll stop saying I bought my friendship, right?” you try to liven up the mood but Jeno is in pain.
“Let’s just enjoy the day!” Jeno boldly hugs your shoulder from the side and drags you with him into the school.
“Woah what’s with the sudden closeness??” Jaemin interrogates once he saw you and Jeno entering the school in an uncommon way, which is Jeno bringing your bag and having you on his back.
“She fell on the way here, and I guess she has to check her ankles and clean her wound.” Jeno shuffles you up on  his back and you hide your face from the stares.
“Oh hurry then! I’ll help with the bags. Leave it here, Renjun can help me.” Jaemin takes over your stuffs and Jeno makes a run to the nurse office. There is still no one on duty, but he knows basic help.
He washes the blood carefully and puts disinfectant to your scrap, you almost kick him but his reflects are quick.
“I think your ankle is swelling. I am no professional but that is not normal.” He points to your ankle and right, its not.
“Do you want me to stay here? We can skip the first quarter and wait until you feel better. You fell hard earlier, did you black out?” Jeno sounds worried. Well he remembered how you suddenly wobble, lose balance and fell before Jeno could catch you.
“Forgot breakfast I guess.” You bite your lips and Jeno in a dash of an eye has fled from the room and return with a pack of milk and sandwich.
“Eat, or you’ll faint again.” He gently opens the wrapper for you and like his promise stays with you there.
“Want to listen to this?” he suddenly hands you one earphone piece and you pick it up carelessly. Not realizing that Jeno has been doing the things you wish to receive from a man.
“Nice song,” you comment as you focus with your left ear to the music playing. You don’t feel anything weird until break time comes and Renjun surprises both of you.
“Oh sorry for disturbing! I was just going to check on you but I guess I came in the wrong time.” He chuckles nervously and disappears before you can call him and say nothing is happening.
That’s when you lock eyes with Jeno, one piece of earphone connecting both of your ear and he was near to you. Oh now you understand.
“He thought we were in a moment?” you giggle
Jeno smiles, he loves seeing you this happy. He laughs too and brushes your hair away “This is it right? Something you want to experience. Getting taken care of, doing cheesy things like this.” He teases you
Realization hits you late and you laugh until a tear escapes your eye “You’re right! This… oh gosh! Jeno are you trying to let me feel this sensation?”
“What sensation?” his heart suddenly beats faster.
“Like I am treasured and getting taken care of? I feel loved??” you sound so happy and that makes Jeno both happy and sad. Happy to see your genuine laugh and sad why hasn’t he noticed this sooner.
“You deserve this (y/n), and I am stupid for not realizing this sooner.” He holds your hand and gives it a gentle squeeze.
You suddenly feel butterflies in your stomach, Jeno’s close body doesn’t help your heart beat slower and the music playing in your ear is no longer clear. You can only hear your heart beating faster and your eyes are only locked inside Jeno’s deep warm eyes. Why did you not notice this? His eyes are warm and comfortable. You never want to cut this moment.
“I’m going to break the rules, why don’t we try to step further like more than friends?” he turns red and you are sure your cheeks are also red.
“Guess we can try and see where it leads us to,” you sing song give him the green light.
“Okay then, from now on, don’t be surprised if I change into your dreamy boyfriend type.” He winks and you laugh. Life’s great and you’re happy whenever you are with Jeno.
Maybe you both did not realize that life brought you together for a long time not just to be friends but something more.
That something, is going to be decided when both of you are ready to find out!
For now, you’re glad that Jeno took the first step into getting to know you as more than friends, and you are more than ready to share what you’re dealing with to Jeno.

Locked Room Lovin'
Rantaro x Fem!Reader
Warning: NSFW
Tumblr media
Thank goodness that your day was almost over. You couldn’t wait to rush out and go home, take a load off. Working in a library might not be that difficult, but it sure was repetitive. You were just so incredibly bored, and now it would be your off day. You yawned as you started to do your closing activities, namely, checking in all the books that had been returned, earlier in the day.
You scanned every bar code that you saw absent-mindedly, thinking instead about how you would be able to collapse on your bed and sleep as soon as you walked through the door.
The library was nearly empty at this time of night; go figure, it was 8:30 on a Saturday. The only people still looming around were the usual book-worms that would more than likely be gone by the time the lights turned off. You’ve worked at the library long enough to know and recognize some of them by name, though you rarely ever interacted with them.
“Okay, S/O! I’ll see you Monday afternoon, I’m getting out of here.” Your boss told you, and you politely nodded. “If you need something, don’t call. My kitties need attending to, and especially Mr. Whiskers, he’s been feeling a little frisky lately.”
“Riiiight....uh, see you Monday.” You waved to her, and she sashayed out of the library doors. Not long after she exited, the other people in the library started to exit as well. 9:00 was growing near, and you couldn’t wait until you were the only one left. After the last person you saw bid you a good night, you sighed of relief. All you had to do was put the books back in their respective places, and you could begin true relaxation.
Humming loudly to yourself, you pushed the book cart around, knowing exactly where each and every one should go.
“GAH-!” You jumped in surprise as you saw a green haired gentleman sitting down in one of the beanbags, his nose stuck in a book. He seemed to be focusing pretty hard, until he glanced up at you. You recognized him as Rantaro, and he took off the headphones he was wearing.
“Rantaro, you s-scared me.” You held your chest, chuckling lightly. “I thought there was nobody else left in the library.”
“I see that it’s already 9:00. Guess I’ve overstayed my welcome.”
“Oh, you’re fine! You can probably stay here until I’ve finished up.”
“No, no, I wouldn’t want to intrude more than I already have. Besides, I think I’m done for tonight anyways.” He started to get off the bean bag, stretching his legs in the process. He ran a hand through his hair, then looked at you. “I could help you put those up, if you so desire. I wouldn’t want you to stay longer than you have to.”
“Oh, Rantaro, you don’t have to do that!”
“It’s really no problem, Miss L/N. I need something to take my mind off things. Besides, we wouldn’t really want you to overwork those pretty little fingers of yours, would we?” He didn’t wait for an answer as he grabbed about half of the books that were left on your cart.
“I...suppose not.” You were honestly too tired to argue, and plus an extra hand never hurt.
The two of you put the books away, and surprisingly, he didn’t even need your help. After all was said and done, he looked at you with a smile on his face.
“That wasn’t too bad, right? If it’s not too much trouble, can I ask for one favor?”
“Knock yourself out.”
“That room behind the counter, that’s where you keep the books you’re about to give away, right? Would you mind if I took a couple of your fairytale books?”
“Go ahead.” You shrugged, searching for you card so that you could lock up for the night. “Be careful, it automatically locks from the outside.”
“I’ll be careful.” He turns around and disappears into the room, as you finally find you keycard. Happily wearing it around your neck, you went into most of the other rooms in the library to turn the lights off. As you went back to where the storage room was, you could see Rantaro excitedly picking up books; more than he looked like he could carry. He had one foot in the door, trying to keep it open.
“Do you need some help?” You offered, holding the door open for him.
“Thanks, I couldn’t-” He wasn’t able to see past the large stacks of books, and he collided with the wall, causing him to fall, with books of varying sizes raining down on him. He rubbed his head, laughing nervously to himself. You couldn’t help but laugh as you offered a hand to help him up, moving away from the door.
As you started helping him pick the books up, you couldn’t help but hear the sound of the door shutting behind you. Your eyes widening, you quickly whipped around to see that the metal door had completely shut. You wiggled the useless doorknob in an attempt to get it open. “Shit! I think we’re locked in!” You exclaimed, slamming yourself against the door.
“Woah there, calm down.” Rantaro grabbed your shoulders, stopping you from ramming your body against the door. “Can’t you call your boss?”
“My boss... is busy.” You rolled your eyes. You looked away defeatedly, covering your face with your hands. “She’s going to kill me when she finds us in the morning...”
“Hey now, Miss L/N, what about the authorities?”
“She would absolutely kill me if there was a big gaping whole where the door should be when she gets here. She doesn’t get here until 10:00, and she’d yell at me because she’d be held liable so early in the morning, and...”
“Okay, calm down.” He put a hand on your shoulder, and all you could do was slide down along the wall out of embarrassment.
“I’m sorry Rantaro, now you’re going to be stuck here with me all night... I feel so bad...”
“At least I’m stuck here with the Librarian’s pretty assistant.” He smirked at how you seemed to get flustered, sitting down next to you. “Well, Miss L/N we might as well get to know each other.”
“...you can start by calling me by my first name.” You looked at him. “S/O.” It could be worse, you realized. If you were stuck with anybody, you were glad it was the admittedly hot guy you’d regularly seen around the library.
“I’m sure I don’t have to introduce myself by now. The name’s Rantaro Amami.”
You yawned, rubbing your eyes.
“Well, I’m not already boring you, am I?”
“No, no! It’s just that I’ve been here since like 2, and your voice is just very calming to me.” The words just came out of your mouth, and you realized what you said. “Sorry! I didn’t mean for that to sound weird!”
He chuckled. “I get that a lot, it’s fine. If you need to sleep, I totally understand.”
“No! I’ll be fine for a while, I swear.”
“Mhmm~... Well, suit yourself.”
The next couple of hours or so were exclusively spent on you and Rantaro getting to know each other better. The two of you shared anything that you could think of. You told him all about how you came to be a library’s assistant, and how you’ve been working there for a quite a while. You told stories about your boss, who was increasingly diving more into “crazy cat lady territory” everyday. Rantaro shared stories about his adventures that he went on. He listed off all the countries he’d visited, and the countries he had left to visit. He solemnly explained the story about his sisters, and how he just wanted to find them so badly.
“And... that’s why I come to the library every day. Read up on the cultures and traditions of the countries I have yet to visit and any things I should be cautious of. That’s what I do.”
“I admire how determined you seem to be.” You told him with a reassuring smile. You squeezed his shoulder, and he looked back at you with a sad gaze. “I’m positive you’ll find them one day.”
“Thank you, S/O. Talking to you...it actually helps a lot.” He looked away. “Well, I’ve run out of things to talk about now. Any suggestions?”
You shrugged, resting your head on his shoulder. “It doesn’t matter to me. Being in here with you... I’m strangely comfortable. You’re such an easy person to talk to.”
A few minutes of silence passed. The two of you just enjoyed each other’s company, before you felt Rantaro’s hand on your chin. He turned your head towards his, and before you could process what was going on, the two of you were entangled in a sweet kiss. You closed your eyes, lazily kissing back and wrapping your arms around his neck.
The two of you stayed like that for a couple minutes, before you pulled apart. Your faces were within centimeters of each other, and you could hear him quietly laughing.
“What’s so funny?”
“I guess I have a confession to make. I’ve wanted to do that to the Librarian’s pretty assistant for a while.”
Your eyes widened. “You have?”
“Call it a stupid crush, but there’s always just been something about you, S/O. I’ve always wanted to get to know you on a more... personal level.” He runs a hand across your thigh, and you giggle sleepily. You connect your lips with is once again, your fingers getting tangled in his now messy hair.
You positioned yourselves so that you were sitting on top of Rantaro’s lap. You deepened the kiss, enjoying how his hands were squeezing your hips, trying to pull you closer towards him. As sleepy as you were, you were enjoying this immensely.
His lips parted from yours, and kisses peppered your jawline, all the way down to your neck and your collarbone. He held you in place as you drowsily giggled from the sensation. You could feel his breath against your skin as he stopped, and you couldn’t help but noticed his hands had reached a little higher on your back. “Are you sure you want to do this...? I can tell you’re tired and all, and- oh.”
Rantaro watched as you slipped your shirt off, throwing it to the side. Admittedly, he’d been getting a little tired too, but if anything woke him up, it was that. He smirked at you, taking the opportunity to take his own shirt off. “Well, I do love a woman who knows what she wants.”
“Shut up and kiss me...” You groaned before connecting your lips to his once more, not hesitating to stick your tongue straight into his mouth. You smiled in the kiss as his hands reached up to undo the straps of your bra, slipping it off with ease. You bucked your hips into his, causing him moan out loud. You could feel how hard it was getting, and it turned you on so much.
He bit his lip whenever you threw your bottoms to the side. His hands were free to explore your body now, and he took full advantage of that. He felt how soft your breasts felt in his hands, he felt how sensitive your nipples seemed to be. He did the honor of sucking on one of your buds, while his hand traveled to your lower half. Already, he could feel the heat radiating off you.
He took off his jeans and boxers, and you could feel just how hard his dick was in your hands. “Why don’t you put those pretty little fingers of yours to work?” He asked breathlessly. You happily obliged, stroking him and watching as eyes rolled into the back of his head, not able to contain the groans that escaped his lips. Leaning in, you sloppily kissed his neck, and all he could do is grab tightly onto your ass, refraining himself from cumming.
Finally, he couldn’t take it anymore. He practically rushed and fought to get your undergarments off, and repositioned you so that you were sitting on top of his lap, himself lined up at your entrance. Rantaro held onto your hips, and he licked his lips as he asked for one last confirmation. “S-S/O... are you sure this is what you want?”
“Rantaro...” You whispered into his ear. “Give it to me.”
He guided you so you easily slid onto his throbbing erection, and you kissed him as you moaned into his mouth. You two got into a slow , but steady rhythm, as you moved in a way that made him repeatedly hit exactly the right spot. He bit your lower lip as you moved back and forth, up and down.
“You feel so damn good...” He closed his eyes. You noticed he was even drooling a little between every grunt and moan. You were about to reach your own climax, as evidenced of the increasing volume in your sounds.
“Rantaaaro~” You whined, throwing your head back. “I’m gonna-” You didn’t have time to finish your sentence as you had your climax.
Rantaro’s body stiffened as that happened, especially as your walls tightened around him as he could feel himself pulsating. Squeezing his eyes shut, he let out a long sigh as he reached his orgasm as well. Letting go of your body, he collapsed on the floor. You slowly crawled beside him, feeling happy, satisfied, and more than ever, exhausted.
“You should probably sleep now.” He whispered to you as he reached for his shirt. “I’ll wake you up if anybody comes.”
“Mmmm~” You put on his shirt, beaming drowsily at him. He wrapped his arms around your waist, kissing the back of your neck. “Thank you for an amazing night, S/O.”
You woke up to Rantaro’s light snoring, as he was still holding you close. You were about to go back to sleep, but you noticed the door was slightly cracked open, and there was a note next to you.
“Dear S/O,
Next time, consider calling before you indulge in intercourse with one of our loyal patrons!”
Rolling your eyes, you smiled knowing that you would almost certainly be yelled at as soon as you walked through the door. But that was a problem for the future. For now, all you wanted was to go back to sleep in Rantaro’s loving arms. And that’s exactly what you did.

‘Loki’ Breakout Sophia Di Martino on Loki’s Coming Out and Tom Hiddleston’s Famous Lecture | Variety
When Sophia Di Martino first auditioned for the Disney Plus series “Loki,” it was in September 2019. A working actor since 2004, the British native has appeared on several British TV series, including “Flowers” and “Election Spy,” and she had supporting role in the 2019 film “Yesterday,” but she hadn’t ever quite landed the breakout role that could move her career to a larger stage.
Enter Sylvie. Introduced at the end of Episode 2 the Marvel Studios “Loki,” she is a “variant” of Tom Hiddleston’s beloved god of mischief, someone who had the same inception point as Loki but whose life unfolded much differently. In Episode 3, Sylvie and Loki spend pretty much the entire hour getting to know each other — and making clear just how critical Sylvie is to the larger story.
Naturally, this kind of role is a massive opportunity, which made how Di Martino ultimately landed it even more shocking to her.
“It was the shortest casting experience I think I’ve ever had,” she says with bewilderment. “I did an audition tape with a very short scene. I wasn’t asked to do it again, and I couldn’t meet anyone because I was heavily pregnant at the time and I couldn’t travel. Tom was in the U.S., everyone else was in the U.S. So we didn’t get to screen test or anything. So I just got the job on the back of this tape, which never happens, and especially with a job like this! It was extremely quick and quite surprising to all involved. Me and my agent were both like, ‘Really? Are you sure? This is crazy? Okay, fine! We’ll do it! We’re in!'”
Once she got the role, however, Di Martino stepped inside Marvel Studios’ vibranium-clad cone of silence. And while she says she’s good at keeping a secret, finally getting to talk about the experience is a massive relief.
“I got this job in September 2019 and only today is the first day I can talk about Sylvie,” she says. “So it’s been quite hard!”
Sylvie really does not see herself as a “Loki.” So how much did you draw from Tom Hiddleston’s performance in his role as Loki when shaping your character?
I looked at his performance, but I try not to be shaped by it too much. Sylvie has had a very different backstory to Loki. She’s a different person, and that was really important to us right from the beginning. When [director] Kate [Herron] pitched me the idea when I finally got the job, and she was able to tell me a bit more about it, it was very clear that Sylvia was Sylvie. And she’s not Lady Loki from the comics. I mean, the show is inspired by the comics, but this is a brand new backstory in a brand new story. And so I wanted to make her my own.
You will see, at times throughout the series, that Tom and I do very similar things, like our physicality is similar or when we choreographed fight scenes, we’ll mirror each other. And that’s all purposely done. And then the rest of it I’ve kind of just made up as I go along.
Tom Hiddleston conducted his famous Loki lecture in advance of the show — did you have a chance to go to it?
Yeah, I was there. It’s one of those things where you can say, ‘I was there!’ It was super interesting and important for me to listen to. He knows so much about the character. He’s been with that character for 10 years. He knows that character unlike anyone else in the world. And to hear all of that information and be able to ask him any question was just really, really important and fun. Like, what a great way to start a job. It got everyone really excited about the show.
How did you and Tom and Kate Herron talk about the scene in which Loki comes out — to the audience, anyway — as bisexual?
I remember Kate being really passionate about it, and that she wanted that to be represented in the show. I think people have been waiting a long time for it. The comic books allude to it and even the Norse mythology, I think. It’s been around for so long, and it was really important to her to have that in the show. But we tried not to let that affect the way we were playing it, you know. We’re just playing it like it’s quite natural conversation between two friends — well, two acquaintances, at that point. So we tried not to give it too much weight, but we knew in the back of our minds how important it was to a lot of people. And I’ve got to say how happy it makes me that people are happy to see that.
A lot of people noticed that the lighting on Lamentis-1 was reminiscent of the bisexual flag. Did Kate take about that being on purpose?
I can’t remember her actually talking about being on purpose. But I know Kate Herron, and I think it probably it was. I think she was probably like, this is gonna be purple, pink and blue, guys! I mean, it looks beautiful.
Tell me a little about yourself. I’d read that you had always even since you were young been really keen on acting?
Yeah, I was one of those annoying kids who’s always like trying to get my sister to do plays in the living room, and always casting myself in the better part and having her play like the Cinderella character. I think it was just an excuse to boss her around. [Laughs] I was one of those really bossy kids. I’ve always I always enjoyed acting at school — I didn’t really know that acting was a job that I could do until I was a little bit older. I wasn’t the kind of kid who would say I want to be an actor, because I think my parents would have just laughed at me. A ridiculous idea! No one in my family is in that world, and it wasn’t really within my grasp. So it was always a little dream that I kept to myself, really. And then I’ve just been quietly chipping away at it for the past 25 years, and here I am!
Owen Wilson has talked about how he was aware of the MCU, but not necessarily the most super knowledgeable person about it. Where do you fall in your awareness and knowledge of of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Kind of similar to Owen. I’d seen a few movies, and I was aware of it. And a few of my friends are really into it. And I know that a lot of people are, but I didn’t know that much, to be honest. I’ve learned a lot more being on the show. And from Tom, who is very knowledgeable.
How much of the role did you get to do before lockdown?
I don’t want to get this wrong, but I think it was like three or four weeks of filming. It wasn’t very much at all. It was enough just to start getting in the flow of things and just to start enjoying it before we had to shut down.
In that sort of time period where we were all just sitting with our own thoughts and contemplating the world, did you think more about Sylvie and anything else that you wanted to do with the part?
It was a really great time for letting what we’d already shot sit and percolate. I know Kate and the writers did a lot more work on the storyline when they’d seen what we’d done, you know, cut together so far. From a personal perspective, it was great just to have a little bit more time to think about it. Because the beginning of the shoot, everything happened so quickly. I carried on training with my stunt double, Sara. We would meet up once or twice a week on zoom, and that was really helpful as well, just to physically get into the body of the character. So I had a lot more time to get fit after having a baby.
Part of the pandemic experience for a lot of people has been thinking about the road less travelled, which in Sylvie’s case is the most extreme example — of this person who shares some similar essence with Loki but lived a completely different life. Did that resonate at all for you while playing her?
It’s so interesting to see two characters who are so similar and so different. It was really important to me to reflect the kind of life that Sylvie has had. The costume reflects that as well with the broken horn and the slightly disheveled costume. And little things like keeping more of my regional accent, and not trying to sound too posh or too well spoken, because it just wouldn’t suit the experience that Sylvie’s had. All of those things were were parts of creating this character and this relationship between Tom and I.
So how does how does one audition for a particularly physical role while pregnant?
Well, luckily, the scene that they gave me, I think, ended up being the scene on the train when they both sat down having a conversation. So I didn’t have to stand up. It was just head and shoulders. So you would never know just by looking at the tape. And then I don’t exactly know how it happened. I think it was just lucky that it wasn’t a super physical scene that I had to act out. Trying to do stunts or something, that would have been terrible!
When you got this role, what really were the parameters of who you could talk to, and who you couldn’t, before today?
I can talk to Tom and I can talk to Kate, but I just wasn’t really supposed to say anything else to anyone else. And I’m really good at keeping secrets, so I just didn’t talk to anyone else about it. Tom and I would just call each other and be like, ‘Oh, we need to say all this stuff, because we’ve got to say to anyone else! Ahh! What about this scene and this bit and this bit?!’ And you know, we’d meet up with Kate and do the same thing. So it was kind of just the three of us.

Good Thing This Job Has Benefits.
AN: I wrote this in one day, I’ve developed a hyperfixation on The Walten Files, so you get to enjoy this absolute mess I’ve made.
You can also read it here on AO3. There’s no romance, it’s a gender neutral, nameless reader fict. There’s no death, because I am NOT about to write angst about a happy family :(
When I had you to myself, I didn't want you around. Those pretty faces always made you stand out in a crowd.
The gravel under my tires crunched as I drove through the night, bopping and tapping the steering wheel to the beat of the song, singing along. It was late, most likely near or after nine PM, but I wasn’t about to take my eyes off the road to check. That’s just asking for trouble.
But someone picked you from the bunch, one glance was all it took. Now it's much too late for me to take a second look.
New job, it’s been going great! I wouldn’t have thought I’d get to use my programming degree so soon, but I’m so happy I got this job. Sure, it’s for a kid’s burger joint, but there’s animatronics and other stuff, plus that finance minor rocketed me straight to an assistant manager position!
Oh, baby, give me one more chance, to show you that I love you. Won't you please let me, Back in your heart.
In the distance I could see a pair of headlights and slowed my car a bit and moved a bit to the side to provide them more room. These roads were narrow and I really didn’t think I wanted to get into a car crash and have to deal with that with what’s left of my savings and likely my first check.
Oh, darlin', I was blind to let you go (Let you go, baby) But now since I see you in his arms (I want you back)
The thought ‘That car looks like it’s moving really fast- too fast’ is the last thought in my head as the car got close, too close to stop the car or move away, there’s a ditch and trees on my side of the road. My hand hit the horn hard, blaring, but they served and-
CRASH!!!
Yes, I do now, I want you back. Ooh, ooh, baby, I want you back.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I want you back. Na, na, na, na.
When I come back to, I’m upside down, held up by my seat belt. Ho-ly-shit. I got into a fucking car crash.
Oh shit! I got into a car crash- The other car! I struggle to turn to look out the window and I see the other car against the guard rail. It’s hard to get a good look at the other car, seeing how I’m upside down and in the goddamn ditch, but I need to get out of the car.
I instinctually went for the pocket at the door, looking for my seatbelt cutter, but it had fallen out. Thanks, gravity. Thankfully, it’s on the roof of the car and I grabbed it before grabbing the handle of the door, pushing it open before I pressed my free arm against the roof of the car and-
“ FUCK! ” I yell, feeling the pain shooting up my arm and shoulder. Holy fuck, why did it hurt so bad?! We’re in the middle of the woods and I can’t remember the last home I passed and my car is upside down.
Either someone comes or I’ve got a long walk. I grit my teeth and cut the seat belt, falling head first into the ceiling and then out the door, tumbling until my butt hit grass. I flung the seatbelt cutter to the side and struggled up, using my door as support before I had to climb up the slippery slope of the ditch and onto the road.
My more useful arm held the other to my chest as I limped. Just about everything hurts. My chest, my shoulder, my leg, my face. Why did this have to happen? I was having such a good night, and now I’m in a wreck and about to give this jackass a piece of my mind. If he’s not dead.
I got closer to the car and looked inside. The man was unconscious, leaning against the steering wheel. I looked to the back instinctually, not expecting to see two terrified children! Oh god, wait- No, they’re alive. They’re looking at me.
I pulled open the driver door, still looking back at the kids, “Uh… Hey. Are you kids okay?” I asked, leaning down to look at them better. A boy and a girl, clearly siblings. They were sniffling and crying, but nodded, “Is this your dad?” I asked, pointing at the unconscious man. The car reeks of booze.
“N-No…” The boy sniffled, “He’s our uncle!”
“Okay, okay… Well, I’m gonna get us to help.” I said and went over to the passenger side, opening it up. The paint was scratched and the panels dented, but the car was still running. It would be shorter to keep going the way I came from, the city and a hospital is that way.
I reached over and wrapped my arm around the unconscious man’s chest, dragging him over into the passenger seat where there were beer bottles on the floor. Not even a seatbelt? He’s lucky he didn’t die.
I buckled him in and shut the door, walking back around to the driver’s seat before getting in and shutting the door. I tested my foot on the gas and hand on the wheel, my other arm resting in my lap.
Thank god the car still worked! I just started driving, the car feeling quite literally fucked as it went over the road, but it’s a working car!
It was perhaps ten or fifteen minutes down the road, “Um… So, what’s your guys’ names?” I asked, looking back at them through the crooked rear view mirror. They must have been so terrified. They were just in a car crash, and now their jackass drunk uncle was unconscious and a stranger was in the car with them.
“I’m Edd… She’s Molly…” Edd said, his sister was holding a grey bunny toy. Looked like one of those prize stuffed animals we keep at Bon’s Burgers prize counter, but it wasn’t blue or purple, and the restaurant hasn’t been opened yet.
I introduced myself and really focused on the road, “That’s a really cool bunny. It’s like the ones we have at my work.” I said, smiling, “Ever heard of Bon’s Burgers?”
The girl looked confused, “Y-Yes? Our dad works there.” She said. Oh no, were they my co-worker’s kids? Which co-worker?
“O-Oh? What’s your dad’s name?” I asked, glancing over at the man in the passenger seat. I couldn’t see him very well in the dark car, but I could hear his deep breathing and slight snoring.
“His name is Jack Walten. Our mom is Rosie!” Edd said, and for a moment I thought I was going to get into another accident. Jack… Walten…?
My boss's kids?!
“Ha-Ha, oh wow… Small work. I started working there. Today was my first day, actually…” I said, muttering a few swears under my breath, “I met Jack! Um… Do either of you know his phone number…? We’re gonna need it when we get to the hospital.”
The boy nods and I sighed- Wait, if these are Jack’s kids, then the man...
Another glance. We’re getting to the part of the road with street lights. I recognize those glasses. This was my other boss, wasn’t it? Please don’t say it is, I just crashed into my bosses’ car. Wait, no, he crashed into me! This wasn’t my fault!
The bastard is too drunk and irresponsible. He could have killed himself, the two kids, or even myself! For god sakes my car is in a ditch!
“Let’s just… Listen to some music, okay?” I offered and put on the radio, driving with my knee for the moment since my injured arm was starting to go numb. It better not be broken, I swear to god.
Once we got into the city I went straight to the hospital, parking in the emergency parking lot. “Okay, can you guys walk?” I asked, unbuckling my belt to look at both of them. They opened their doors and the girl winced.
“My ankle hurts!” She cried. Edd thankfully didn’t seem too injured, but he had a burn from the seat belt.
“Okay, okay. Hold on, I’ll carry you.” I said and got out. My leg felt like it was covered with biting fire ants, but I wasn’t about to leave her alone for them to just get a wheelchair.
I bent down and she reached up, one hand clutching the stuffed bunny as she wrapped her arm around my neck and I held her up on my hip, my only good arm holding her up, “Okay, okay, okay.” I mumbled softly and the boy was by my side, “Okay, grab my hand.” I said, offering my injured hand. I didn’t care that it hurt, I knew he was putting on a brave face.
He took my hand and I walked them both in. The tired nurse at the desk looked up at us and looked terrified before she quickly called for help, “We have another in the car. The black one out front.” I said, “We were just in a car crash.”
“Oh my god!” She said as more nurses came, one that had a gurney and I put the girl up on top and the boy got to sit in a wheelchair, “Are you their mother?” The nurse asked as one of the other nurses tried to sit me down in a wheelchair as well.
“No… I’m the one their uncle crashed into.” I said and reluctantly sat down. I didn’t realize how fast my heart was beating, it must explain all of the wandering thoughts that clouded my mind.
I was brought to the same room that they were, but curtains separated me from them. Doctors and nurses came shortly and my vision grew quite spotty. Information was exchanged, my nearest relative was an hour away and it was late, so it’s a toss up if they got the call.
One of the children gave a nurse the phone number to their home, and already my head was coming up with the worst thoughts of what would happen. Will I be fired? Is he going to sue me? I’m probably just as guilty as Felix in his eyes.
Speaking of Felix, if Jack doesn’t fire me he will! If he doesn’t get arrested.
“Pardon me…” One of the nurses said, drawing my attention, “We need to cut off your shirt. Your arm is likely dislocated and we don’t want to move it.”
Oh god, if they cut off this shirt I’ll have to pay 25 dollars to get another. “Um… No, it’s my only uniform.” I said and with my one good arm undid the buttons before another nurse pulled from my uninjured side and I pulled it the rest of the way off, letting the nurse take it.
Unfortunately, pants and shoes too, but I got a nifty gown and now they could resume looking me over. What I didn’t appreciate was them having to pop my arm back into place, that was awful.
They had to bandage up my cuts and test me for brain damage (just a mild concussion) and put my arm in a sling, my ribs were also likely fractured. Molly's ankle had to be splinted as it was strained and Edd had a slight concussion.
At least I got to change back into a spare set of plain clothes that they happened to have, but that required a nurse's help with the newly relocated arm that ached and hurt when I moved it.
Felix hadn’t been brought to our same room, and an officer came to question us. I told the whole story, and just to be sure they breathalyzed me. Unlike a certain driver I blew a 0.0 BAC.
Our stories matched up and they pulled back the curtains to allow us to see each other and talk. They were still shaken up, but they were told their mom and dad were on their way a while ago. Great. I’m just glad their parents were still awake and were on their way, even though I knew there was going to be so much to talk about and I was going to have to justify myself to both of the worried and likely angry parents.
I talked to them about school and what they liked to do, how they just came from a school party. Molly was excited to have her friends sign her ‘cast’ and Edd thought he would be the coolest kid in school for surviving a car crash.
I remembered being their age and smiled and nodded along as I was put on a low grade painkiller and we were given water to drink. After about 20 minutes I could hear a commotion and a man and two women calling out for the two children. They called back and moments later a frazzled looking man, my boss Jack Walten and his wife Rosemary, along with his worried looking teen daughter Sophie rounded the corner of the doorway and in that moment I had never seen anyone look so relieved.
The reunion was toothrottingly sweet, all five hugging and just overjoyed to see their children okay and alive. I couldn’t help but smile, even though it felt like I was intruding on something that should have been private.
Edd brought me up and Molly joined in, the both of them talking at once and practically over each other as they tried to explain everything that happened. I’m not sure if their parents or sister fully understood, but what was grasped was that Felix crashed into me, and I drove them to the hospital.
Both Jack and Rosemary looked at me and I awkwardly waved. He looked confused, like he recognized me but unsure from where, “Hi, boss…” I said, introducing myself for the second time that day.
We only met for ten minutes earlier today, but his eyes widened in surprise. “You… Felix crashed into you?” He asked, “And you got my children to safety?”
I timidly nodded. Please, please don’t be angry.
The officer presented himself and cleared his throat, “Your employee here was driving home when Mr. Kraken, who was intoxicated, who was driving the other way crashed into them and knocked them from the road into the ditch while Mr. Kraken’s car hit the guardrail.” The officer explained.
“I um… I was upside down but cut myself free and climbed out to check on the other car, and I saw that he had Molly and Edd in the back and my car wasn’t about to get out of the ditch any time soon so I just… drove them here.” I finished, punctuating the end by nervously drinking the rest of my water.
“He was drunk?!” Rosemary said, stunned and clearly angry. The officer nodded while Jack’s fist clenched, clearly enraged. I would be just as shocked and angry if I had children and they were put in danger by someone who’s supposed to be their friend.
I should probably be just as angry that some drunk asshole- who is my boss no less- nearly killed me, but I was just glad that we were all still alive. Sure, my car is fucked, and so is about 50% of my body (exaggerating), but my bones will heal and I’ll repair my car or get a new one. I mean, that’s what insurance is for, right?
What I didn’t expect out of all of this was to be hugged by Rosemary. Oh yeah, it fucking hurt but I just kept that to myself. She sniffled and I awkwardly patted her back with my one good arm, “Thank you for keeping them safe…” She said quietly.
“I-It was nothing, really.” I said timidly, “I wasn’t about to leave them alone.”
“Nothing? You saved them!” Jack said and shook my hand when his wife pulled away to dry her eyes and hug all of her children once more, “I can’t ever thank you enough for what you did for my family. I… I couldn’t stomach the thought if…”
I gave him a reassuring squeeze of his hand and he clasped my good shoulder, “It sucks that this happened in the first place but… I’m just glad everyone is alive…” I said, giving a nervous smile.
“Is he alive?” Jack asked, looking at the officer as he let go of my hand and shoulder.
“Yes, he is. We will be pressing charges, he blew above a 0.3.” The officer responded and Jack nodded, seemingly ‘pleased’ with that.
After exchanging contact information and addresses with both Jack and myself he departed, leaving the family to resume their reunion. I smiled awkwardly and looked away awkwardly, scratching my neck.
I haven’t heard anything about my relative having called or if they were coming, so I could only assume I wouldn’t be getting a ride from them. Or a ride tonight at all.
For a moment I was lost in my head, feeling a bit too sorry for myself. I moved all the way out here because there were jobs and rent was cheap, but I was so far from my family and friends, and even though I helped their children would I even still have a job?
I refilled my paper cup and sipped on the cold water before a nurse came to let us all know that after a final check over, we would be set to go home in an hour or so. Great, I better start making calls or something.
For a moment I didn’t realize that Rosemary was talking to me. I looked up as she repeated my name, “U-Uh yeah?” I said, looking a little confused.
“Do you have a ride home…?” She asked. Ah, oh no. I’m not about to ask these clearly exhausted parents for a ride home, I could only imagine they just wanted to get home and be with their children.
“No… But I can get one, don’t worry.” I said, but Jack shook his head.
“Nonsense, it’s the least we could do. You look like you need some sleep.” He said, making me chuckle.
“So do you two.” I laugh, “Really, you don’t need to. I’ll get a hold of someone eventually. Really!”
Rosemary shook her head, “No way, sincerely it wouldn’t be a bother. Where do you live?” She asked, and I reluctantly gave my street address, “Oh, you live just a bit down the way from us!” She said. Looks like it’s out of the question.
The doctor came and checked us all over one last time before giving me a prescription slip for painkillers for the next week and a half and we were permitted to leave. Jack carried his daughter while Rosemary held her son’s hand and I followed behind them.
I won’t lie, I’m pretty damn nervous. Checking out of the hospital took a little while as well, but soon we were free to go. That will be a fun bill to pay.
Rosemary sat in the back with the children, not giving me any chance to protest as I had to sit in the passenger seat next to Jack. Edd and Molly were clearly tired, cuddling up to their mother as Jack turned on the car and carefully pulled out.
It was incredibly clear that Jack was very, very focused on the road, not wanting to get his family into a car accident as well. I couldn’t imagine what he was thinking, but I was just so glad that this didn’t end in tears.
The car ride to their home was mostly quiet, only some light conversation made. Jack was interested to know how I enjoyed my first day on the job.
“It’s been exciting…” I chuckled and he laughed softly, but I wasn’t all that comfortable or any less nervous. I did just want to get home and rest, because tomorrow morning I likely had to call my insurance and figure out how I’ll be getting to and from work.
If there even was a job anymore. With one half of the business owners likely going to jail I didn’t know if Jack would take on the massive workload, or if he would even want me to work there anymore.
“We’re here.” Jack let them know.
We pulled into their driveway and Sophie was the first to get out to help her mother take her siblings into the house with Jack telling them that he would be right back after he dropped me off.
“Have a good night, everyone…” I smiled and waved at them. Edd and Molly sleepily waved back before they went inside and shut the door.
It was surreal, everything that had happened. And now I was alone with my boss as he started to drive towards my home.
“I can’t believe he happened to crash into you…” Jack said and I nodded silently, “I could never thank you enough… You… I just can’t believe…” His voice cracked and he brought his hand up to wipe his cheeks.
“I’m sorry this happened… I’m just glad your children are safe…” I said, fidgeting with a stray string on my pants, unsure if I should pat his back or would that be too far? “You have a beautiful family, Jack, I’m sorry that you’re having to drive me home…”
“Don’t be sorry, you drove them to the hospital with a dislocated arm! I couldn’t imagine what it was like, being run off the road and into a ditch, upside down!” He said and I couldn’t help but laugh.
“To be honest, it was like a dream. One moment he’s coming towards me and I move aside since the road is pretty narrow, the next I see that he’s a bit too close over to my side and then finally I’m upside down in the ditch.”
“And- It was you! Who would have thought that my new employee would be the one to get hit.” He said, smiling softly, “Oh and don’t you worry about rushing back into work! I will be paying you your wages, you helped my family out, I’m going to help you too.”
“You-You really don’t have to do that. I’ll be okay!” I insisted, but he shook his head. He wasn’t having it.
“I want to, you don’t understand how stressed and worried we were…” He said, “I called Felix over 20 times, I thought the worst had happened and I… I started to lose hope I would ever see them again.”
“He’s going to jail for this, no doubt…” I said, “Will you be taking over the business…?”
“Yeah… It’ll be a lot but I think I have someone who I can rely on to help.” He said, smiling.
“Oh, good! I’ll try my best to pull my own weight.” I said, smiling, “I know you guys took a big risk hiring me fresh out of college but-”
“I- It’s you!” He said, “I know you just started, but your finance and programming degree is going to be a massive help!”
“Wha…?” I gaped at him. Me? Did I get a promotion? “I would be honored to help!” I smiled. I think I just became a manager or something, I’ll figure that out when I go back to work.
I pointed out my house and he pulled up in front, “I won’t let you down, I promise.” I gleamed and he smiled, holding his hand out for me to shake.
I did, not expecting him to pull me in for a hug. Looks like this was a really huggy family, it was pretty similar to my own family. “I know you won’t. Would you mind if you gave me your number so we can speak tomorrow? I imagine Edward and Molly would like to hear that you’re okay.” He asked.
I nodded and waited until he got a pen and a small black book to put my number in it before I opened the door, “I’ll speak to you soon, then… Have a good night, boss.” I smiled and he laughed.
“Just call me Jack. Really.” He said, “Have a good night.” I nodded and got out before shutting the door, walking to the front door. I grabbed the spare key from the mail box and gave one last wave after I unlocked the door. He flicked his high beams at me before he started to back up and I opened the door, shutting and locking it behind me.
It’s been a really strange night.

Ch.9
"Well this is nice…" You say as Natasha drags you along. You see currently you and Natasha are quote on quote shaking a tail. Whatever that means… "Shut up and keep moving." You stop moving and pull your arm away. "Stop Nat we've gone far enough. It was probably just a coincidence we didn't really get that far from the food truck." Finally taking the time to catch your breath. "I think we should get back to the compound. Tony and Bruce must be waiting for me." You say looking around for a cab lucky for you one stopped right before you and you got in.
The ride back to the Compound was quiet. When she's about to make her way in, you stop her. "Nat… I know that didn't go the way either of us wanted it to go but I still had fun. And again what I'm trying to say is that I would like to do things your way, candlelit, waiters, and wine. If you want to of course." You fidget with your fingers waiting for her response. "Y/n I would love to… but I like the way you do things. You're not the Wine and Dine type... I like that." She mentions as she walks back in. You quickly follow suit after she makes a comment about your blatant staring.
Once you stop on the elevator FRIDAY greets you. Telling you that Tony and Bruce are waiting for you in the lab. "Well Nat this is goodbye for now, see you around." You say stepping off of the elevator. Suddenly this weight comes crashing down on you. Remembering what Bruce told you the worry in his eyes. Dread fills your body when you're walking towards the lab. "Guys I'm back… anything good for me?" You state casually trying your hardest not to sound hopeful. "Well yes and no…" Tony states putting the tablet down. "I'm going to be honest with you… your heart is trashed, absolute garbage."
"Way to make a girl feel special." You say with a dry laugh. "But I think we can build something. And with my arc reactor technology we can make it work." He states tapping at his chest. This is where Bruce jumps in "with the help of Dr. Cho we could try and make a new cradle… and use it for its intended purpose this time around. Making a heart powered by the arc reactor." You nod taking all the information in. "Well this is good right? How long would this take." This is where both Tony and Bruce go quiet. "Y/n the process is relatively easy, what's difficult is getting our hands on the Vibranium."
"Which is basically a non existent problem at this point… Bruce is just paranoid, my contact will pan out you'll see." Tony jumps back in clearly annoyed that Bruce was disclosing such trivial issues. "Even if we do get the Vibranium Y/n there's something we don't know… If you'll even survive the transplant." Your eyes meet his and he elaborates. "Your body might not be strong enough to handle it." Suddenly the inevitability of the situation dawns upon you. "Well I'm still doing it… I'm dying anyways. What difference does it make if it's a month from now or five. I'm doing it."
"Well, let not be hasty alright. We can still look for other alternatives." Bruce tries to argue. "Look, this is Y/n's decision. She's old enough to make her own decisions. Plus the more we work on this the higher survival chances are." Tony argues. You clear your throat when you notice some visitors standing by the door. "How long have they been there?" You ask, trying to mask your anger. Pietro and Steve both give you sheepish smiles that don't quite reach their eyes. "Look Y/n we just wanted to make sure you were okay… and by the looks of it you're not."
You stand making your way to stand in front of Steve who had just taken a defensive stance. "Well you're right I'm not okay. Now what are you going to do about it Cap… Other than feeling pity every time you look at me." You say pushing your finger on his chest. "This does not leave this room you understand?" You say looking at both Steve and Pietro. "But, My sister…" You nod "Figure it out pretty boy. Now if you could leave the adults have to talk." They both sigh but take their leave. You turn and notice Tony and Bruce staring, not saying anything. You can only laugh at the sight.
As much as you did want to be mad you couldn't. You were starting to come to terms with the fact that your business was now becoming their business. "I just wanted to watch them squirm." You clarify making Tony laugh. "Well I'd say you achieved that." Bruce mentions. "I'll give them til the end of the day. What do you think?" You say looking at Tony. "How much are you willing to bet, Billionaire to Billionaire?" He asks, challenging you. "50 million dollars." He scoffs. "Don't be a prude, make it Euros." You nod. "Best money there is." You say agreeing with him. "I'll hold you to that Y/n." He says as you leave the lab.
Two days later you were busy. You'd been in contact with Bruce and Pepper. Currently you were looking for someone to mentor. Someone you could leave your legacy with. Logan was an obvious choice but you knew he wouldn't take it. "You wanna give it a break Y/n you're not going to find the perfect candidate in so little time." Logan mentions. When suddenly your secretary enters with more forms. "Ms. Krast these are the applications from Midtown Science High. There's only four. Liz Allan, Ned Leeds, Flash Thompson, and uhh Peter Parker." You sigh with a smile forming on your lips. "They've got to be here my mentee. These kids are geniuses."
You say as you look through the applications. Slowly crossing off the first two, that Flash kid and Liz. Ned and Peter it was a tough choice until you saw some of yourself in Peter's eyes. "It's him." You say under your breath catching Logan's attention. "Peter Parker… I want him, he will be the future of our company. Make arrangements. I want him to feel welcomed." You say as you start to gather your things. "Send out the acceptance letter today." You say to Logan on your way out. "Will do Boss." He says with a smile growing on his face as he reads the file. Peter didn't have it easy on the contrary he lived through a lot but he still managed to be him.
The next week went by in a blur. Your will and testament were drafted and certified. You were set on that end and now on the other front. You were currently parked outside Midtown High waiting for the bell to ring. When it does a couple of minutes pass when a fresh faced kid is knocking on your window. "Y/n Krast nice to meet you kid." You say rolling down the window. He seems a little nervous. "Come on in Peter. We're going to get to know each other a little before we begin working with the internship." He nods enthusiastically, a small smile forming on his lips. "Tell me about your Peter, I mean outside of what I already know."
"Well I'm what most people would call a nerd. My aunt may always say that's not true but it is." You hum in agreement pulling out of the school parking lot. "Well being popular is overrated anyways." You jump in. "And Ned, my best friend, we're huge fans of you and your work." He says his speed increases as he starts to ramble about how he followed your trajectory as soon as he found out who you were. "Well I'm glad you like what I do Peter but in my eyes were equals. I will teach you my ways and hopefully you'll take over once I'm dead. Keeping my legacy alive long after I'm dead." You say seriously making him settle and quiet down.
"Ms. Krast you can't be serious." He says giving you an incredulous look. "I was an orphan… I was given a chance. Someone believed in me. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you remind me of me… and I would like to give you that same chance that I was given." You say sincerely. "Y/n that's too generous… Plus I don't think that I'm what you're looking for. I'm clumsy and…" You stop the car making him look at you. "You may not be ready now or tomorrow but if you let me teach you, you will be." You say reassuringly. "Plus I don't plan on dying anytime soon." You say playfully at the end causing Peter to laugh successfully lightening the mood. "Also another plus for you after this year's audit we'll be working hand in hand with Tony Stark."
At the mention of Tony's name he lit up ten times more than you thought possible. It made you laugh a little but you understood him. "That's amazing. Me working for Y/n Krast and Tony Stark, a literal dream come true." You nod at his statement. The day went by incredibly fast. He was a nice kid, respectful and smart, a little naïve but overall sensible. You went to his favorite pizza place and talked, went to Krast Industries and introduced him to Logan. Showed him his dedicated work space. "So here's your badge, don't lose it. Umm… you'll be here every other day after school, and if you have some special dates tell Margaret the secretary and she'll make a schedule around it." You say as you're walking towards the elevator.
Peter stops abruptly turning to face you. "Thank you really." He then proceeds to rather hastily pull you into a hug. You're shocked initially but hug him back nonetheless. "Don't sweat it kid." You say patting his back. "I'll have one of my drivers give you a lift home alright." He nods. Just before you press the button for the elevator the doors open. Revealing Pepper Potts and Tony Stark. It makes you laugh internally knowing that the young boy beside you just had his world rocked. "Ms. Krast this is real right?" He asks in a high pitched voice. You nod.
"Pepper Tony, I would like you to meet my new mentee Peter Parker." You say nudging him forward. "Hi, you're Tony Stark." He says in a daze. "Yes kid I am Tony stark and you are?" Tony could literally not care less. Until you gave Pepper a look and she nudged Tony. "Alright kid it was nice meeting you." He says overly enthusiastically. Peter takes the compliment either way. "Alright Peter go over to Margaret she'll take you to the driver. We have some urgent business to attend." He nods and waves goodbye shyly and takes his leave. "Right what do you guys need." Pepper clears her throat "Well actually Tony and I wanted to invite you out to lunch."
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's get going." You say walking off with Pepper. "You'll be pleased to know that you won our wager. They know..." Tony mentions at the restaurant. You laugh. "Told you!" Pepper gives you a look. "They're worried about you." You sigh. "Pepper, believe me I'm worried too." Tony quickly steps in. "Which you don't need to worry about too much, everything is in place. Everything panned out Dr. Cho was more than willing to help us. So whenever you want." He says again not meeting your gaze. "I was… ummm. Actually thinking we should hold off on that."
"What… why?" They both ask almost immediately. "I'm okay right now." Tony scoffs. "So you rather wait till you have another episode to undergo the procedure." You hum. "Precisely see you get it." Watching their confusion you continue. "I've got things I have to leave ready. Time that I can't take for granted." Before they could argue with you said. "I need time… I-i drafted my will a couple of days ago." You say burying your head into your hands. "It's funny really… how you get things you're willing to live for. And life just comes along and takes it from you." Your mind drifts off to Viv and David. You wipe your tears and excuse yourself. Just as you're about to leave you remember.
"Put the money in a college fund for the kid." You grab Peppers shoulder and nod. "We'll keep in touch." You say leaving the restaurant.
Three weeks later
Pretty early on you noticed Peter's jumpy behavior. It wasn't long till you found out his little secret. Again smart kid heart of gold even, but too naïve for his own good. You'd had one of your AI robots track him after he'd shown up a little dinged up. Telling him you knew took some time. You didn't know the extent of his capabilities, but you'd seen the kid walk on walls and kick some ass.
As cute as he looked in that makeshift costume you had a better one in mind. "Peter I would like to show you something." You call out from your workstation in the lab. "Ward pull up spider schematics please." You call out. "What do you think?" You say as Peter glances at his new suit. "I-i um… It's awesome but who is at for?" He said quickly. You almost burst out in laughter right then and there but you played along. "Well I was in Queens the other day and there was this mugging and some hero came out of nowhere and stopped the mugging." You say as you deconstruct the specks of the suit. Watching as peter gawks at the hologram.
"When I noticed his suit wasn't really a suit, I made him one. You think he'll like it?" Peter nods eagerly, you hum in response. "Alright then try it on, see how it fits spider boy." Peter stands there with his mouth hanging open and you could swear saliva came out. "You aren't that good at keeping secrets kid." You say handing him the suit. "I expect you to be careful, kid." Peter starts to ramble trying to explain himself and begs you to not fire him. You physically had to stop him from pacing. "No ones firing anyone. I'm proud of your kid again, just be careful." Emphasizing the last part. "I will" after all that's out of the way you and Peter spent the day testing out the specks in his new suit. Web slingers and all. Yo I didn't leave until he got the hang of it. It took a while but it was well with the wait.
The next day you wake up to the news seeing a familiar twin on the news. Not good Lagos had gone wrong, the building collapsed and Wanda was to 'blame'. You hurriedly made your way through your morning routine and raced to the compound. As soon as you make it to the common room you can tell something's off. "How is everybody?" You asked Steve who was the first you saw. "I'm assuming you heard about the incident." You don't have the heart to say yes so you just nod. "We're all a little down on morale. Nothing we can't fix." You say, giving you a small smile. You hate that he is down playing this because of your current dilemma. "It wasn't your fault." You say. As you walk off towards Pietro.
"Are you okay?" You ask this time actually worried Pietro doesn't seem like his usual self. "No...It's Wanda. She hasn't talked to anyone she hasn't eaten she hasn't left her room." He says all in one breath. He finally stopped stirring and slid down to the floor and sat. "Its my fault. I-i could've moved faster, I could've saved them." He says defeatedly. "Maybe… Maybe not" You say bluntly sitting in front of him. "You can't go back now. And I know it's a sour experience. You made the right decision." You sigh. "You made the choice that saved the most lives." He nods letting out a deep breath. "I know… I know but Wanda. If I had saved those people Wanda wouldn't be feeling like this right now." You shake your head. "You fail to realize that if you had done that you would've died along with the other victims. Wanda will come around and let me talk to her." He only nods. "She's in her room."
You knock on her door a couple of times… no answer. So you make yourself comfortable and prepare yourself. Your knock every minute or two and you're constantly yelling in your head. Half an hour goes by and nothing. You go back to mentally yelling, when suddenly you're being dragged by the collar of your shirt into the room with the doors shutting behind you. "You're stubborn like a mule." She says not sparring you a look. "Yeah well I'm dying what are you gonna do about it." You quipped smiling at her. She chuckles. Suddenly the light leaves her face. "I killed people… I put people in danger, I put my own brother I'm danger." You nod. "You also saved hundreds of people. God only knows what that gas would have done. So thank you Wanda. You're my hero." You say sending her a smile.
Right when she's about to say something a certain red friend phases through the wall. "You will never cease to amaze me Vision." You say while looking between him and the wall. "You have very good taste in clothes." You mention as you eye him. He smiles. "Vision. We talked about this, there's a door for a reason." Wanda states. "Yes, well the door was open so I assumed…" He says, explaining himself. "What did you need Vision?" Wanda asks cutting him off. "Well Mr. Stark asked me to come and get both you there is a team meeting. With secretary Ross."

"Jimin!" You whined as he had hurriedly grabbed the check from the waitress and politely shoved it back in her hand with his card.
"I just wanted you to enjoy your lunch." He laughed at your pouty face - brows furrowed, lips poking out.
"That doesn't mean I can't pay for my own food."
"Can you relax? It's fine. If anything, you can just get me when we grab dessert later."
"Sure, if you don't beat me to it again."
"Maybe it's your reflexes."
"Wow, I'm a little appalled at that statement. Already judging me?"
"Never that, just being honest." He smiled. "Okay, I'm joking. Don't kill me." He laughed as he stood up and gathered his stuff. You two were spending some time going around Insa-Dong before heading to a park near the N Seoul Tower later tonight to chill.
Besides beaming with kindness, Jimin was patient. He let you walk around wherever, doing whatever, without complaining. He was also very smart, giving the inside scoop with the added bonus of tips and tricks and reciting historical facts when the perfect opportunity arose. He made fun of you for buying small, cute souvenirs because it seemed like a never ending collection, but nonetheless, he really enjoyed how happy you looked. How you glowed. How down to earth and laid back you were. Even though it hadn't been long since you met, you weren't reserved and you took him in (as he was) with ease. He was normally a shy person, but he appreciated the warmth that radiated from you. He felt comfortable, almost like you both had known each other for years.
"Come on, Y/N." He laughed. "Really? How many more pins and stickers do you need?"
"Jimin, you need to lower your voice." You joked.
"I'm sorry." He began to raise his voice, causing others to turn towards you two. "HOW MANY MORE PINS-"
"Oh my god, okay! Stop! I'll drop it!" He laughed and prevented you from dropping your items down.
"I'm just playing. I'll stop." It hit you that his hand still lingered on yours, so you quickly drop it down before shyly tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
"I promise this is it." You shrugged. "For now." You kept smirking at him over your shoulder before you happily walked over to the counter. After slipping the small shopping bag into your bigger shopping bag, you met Jimin outside of the shop who had been taking pictures of the street with his polaroid camera. "Do you always do this?"
"Take pictures? Yeah, I like holding onto the memories, as cliché as that sounds. They really do hold a lot of meaning for me."
"No, I think that's pretty cool."
"Do you mind?" He slightly rose his camera towards you.
"If you take pictures of me?" He nodded silently. "No, I don't."
"Thanks. It'll add a nice touch to my collection." He quickly snapped a picture of you smiling.
The two of you continued to walk around, with Jimin making sure you didn't miss anything significant. He led the way majority of the time, dancing when he would hear music playing on the street, mimicking ads posted on the walls or simply taking more pictures. When you both had your fill of the area, he drove to a nearby bbq restaurant where you could get some jajangmyeon, samgyeopsal and other entrees ready made for takeout before grabbing dessert on the way to the park. You held onto the food while he grabbed a blanket from the trunk of his car and laid it on the grass so you two could dig in and eat.
"That's a nice ass view." You said, staring at the tower up ahead.
"I could take you up there another day. There isn't much, but the view at the tower is amazing."
"I bet."
"So, what made you want to come to here?" All this time you had been spending with Jimin had been occupied by all the plans that you hadn't been able to really talk about this. You hadn't been able to divulge about the dirty details of all things home.
"I really just wanted a break from the chaos." You shrugged.
"Mmm, really painting a great picture of Los Angeles right now." He said sarcastically before he covered his mouth to laugh.
"Sorry, it's a great place, really. I honestly can't see myself anywhere else." You sighed. "I just.. felt myself slipping, you know? I was getting lost in all the work I had to get done, all the projects on my plate. At one point I felt so stuck that I really questioned if I belonged. I'm turning 26 soon and I still feel lost."
"Impostor syndrome?"
"Yes, that."
"Why? You made it that far, haven't you? May I ask what you do back home?"
"I work in translational science." His eyes widened.
"Wow, that's amazing. You came this far, Y/N. Why would you doubt yourself like that?"
"I guess I just always feel like I need to prove myself to everyone around me."
"In work or in general?"
"It was starting to feel like I had to prove myself in general."
"That's not fair. I know it's easier said than done, but you shouldn't do that to yourself. From what I can tell, you're a great person who's down to earth and enjoys life as it comes. There's nothing wrong with that. You're where you're at for a reason. I'm sure your friends and parents are really proud of you."
"Thanks." You smiled softly. "Yeah, my parents are pretty great."
"Yeah? See, that's good. What are your parents like?"
"Well, my dad is the executive director of another lab, while my mom is a pediatric nurse."
"So, science and healthcare revolves around your family."
"Pretty much. My dad is the reason why I got so interested in pursuing a career in science. He would always teach me things growing up and I always enjoyed going to science museums with him. That's all I wanted to do."
"That's cute." He smiled. "You're really close to your parents, then."
"Yeah, I am."
"Do they know you're here?" You nodded.
"Yeah. They were just sad I didn't join them on their Europe holiday trip."
"What?! You turned that down to come here? You're something else." You laughed and tossed a crumpled napkin at him, making him dodge it.
"Hey! I told you. I just wanted to do something solo. Something different."
"I mean, are you really doing it solo if you're here with me?" He smirked.
"I'm leaving."
"No, I'm kidding." He laughed as he put his hand out to stop you. "I know, I know. For the record, I'm glad you're hanging out with me and letting me show you around."
"Nice save, Park."
"You got it, sweetness." He winked, making you shake your head at the pet name.
"What about you? What's up with you and your family? I can tell you and Yana are close."
"Yeah, we are. I'm really happy about the relationship we have. She's my older sister and she's done a lot for me. A lot." He emphasized. "I can't help but feel super protective of her. I feel like I want to shield her from the world sometimes because she's such a good person and I don't want to see her get hurt, you know? It hurts me." You nodded silently. "I know part of the reason why she agreed to this whole thing was because of her ex." You swallowed the lump in your throat because same. Fucking same.
"I get that. That's really sweet of you."
"As for the rest of my family, I mean.." He sighed. "Yeah, we're all close. I love my mom and dad. I'd do anything for them, no question about that. They've always been supportive. But, sometimes I can't help but feel like I disappoint them."
"Why do you say that? Only if you feel comfortable, though." And he did. Jimin really did. He wasn't much to talk about his personal details because he was so busy trying to make sure his people were good, that people he cared for were okay. He barely had time to look out for himself, but he didn't mind it. All he wanted was for his people to be good. If that could happen, then all was well. Plus, he would hate to have to burden someone with such negative thoughts. It wasn't the happiest topic for him.
"I do." He softly smiled at you, his eyes wide and round like a puppy. He ran his hand through his hair before adjusting his position on the blanket. You couldn't help but feel weak at the sight of him. Sheesh. He could do the bare minimum and it would still be so attractive. "My sister is super smart and successful. She's worked so hard to get to where she is now. I mean, she works for a really popular magazine here. She started as an intern, then worked her way up and now she's close to creating her own clothing line. It's been her dream and she really worked to make it happen."
"That's amazing."
"Isn't it? She's such a boss." He shook his head. "And then there's me." He scoffed. "I went to school for business, with a minor in art. But that's about it for me. I don't really know what I want to do or how to go about making my degree useful." He used air quotes. "I honestly just don't even know. I got through school just fine, but I never had set plans for myself. I help my mom and dad at their cafe, then that's it." He shrugged.
"Jimin, you still have so much time to figure out what you want to do. Don't beat yourself up just because you didn't get there as quickly as Yana or other people. Your path isn't theirs and vice versa."
"It just gets hard, you know? I want to make them proud."
"And I'm sure they are. They always will be. You have so much to offer to the world, no doubt. You'll be able to show that in time."
"Thanks Y/N, I needed to hear that. Really." He smiled. "Just you listening makes me feel better."
"You should make more time for yourself, Jimin." You already could tell what kind of person Jimin was. One that always made time for everyone but himself. One who was completely and utterly selfless.
"I know, I'm working on it." He scooped into his ice cream cup. "So, enough of me." He chuckled. "Back to you."
"What else can I say about me?"
"I don't know, Y/N. I'm sure you have a lot you can say about yourself besides being a badass scientist." You chuckled. "Is that really the only reason why you came to Seoul? To get a break from LA and work?"
"If I'm being completely honest, no." He nodded as he continued to keep his attention on scooping more of his ice cream. "I'm actually in the same boat as Yana with the whole ex situation." You scoffed. "It sounds pathetic coming from me, I know."
"No." He shook his head. "No, it doesn't."
"I dated this guy for almost 5 years. But, it was so on and off and inconsistent during the last year. After we officially broke up, I couldn't separate myself from him, even if he was treating me like shit. Like a convenience. He would come around whenever he wanted to, even though he was already seeing other girls and playing his games. I was so tired of crying and feeling hurt over the fact that I was so replaceable. I was longing to find myself again."
"I'm really sorry, Y/N. I can't apologize on his behalf, but you definitely don't deserve that."
"It is what it is."
"No, it's not. Someone who is more worried about getting their ego boosted than treating someone right doesn't deserve your time. None of this was your fault and I really hope you know that."
"It took me a long time to see it that way, of course. It was really difficult. I always questioned what was wrong with me."
"Nothing. There's absolutely nothing wrong with you. Please hear me when I say that. I know we haven't known each other for long, but I really mean it. You're beautiful, smart and you have a lot of things going for you. If he can't fit in that equation, then fuck it. That's on him and that's his loss." You chuckled.
"Thanks, Jimin."
"Of course." He tilted his head to the side as he smiled. He continued to stare for a bit longer, eyeing all of your features and taking it all in. You were really beautiful to him. A work of art. The last thing he wanted to do was scare you away, but he felt compelled to be by your side while you were around. He just wanted to keep spending time with you, getting to know you and making you happy. That became his goal. "So, uh. I have a couple of more places I'd like to take you to, if that's alright?"
"Yeah, of course. I'm down to see everything and anything I can while I'm still here."
"I'll do my best." He chuckled. After you both finished up your ice cream, you threw out the empty containers and packed up the blanket before heading back home. You knew you were going to keep spending more time with Jimin and his friends, but you were beginning to feel a little sad parting ways at the end of the night. You gave Jimin a tight hug and said your goodnights before shutting the door. You threw your shoes off to the side and took a quick shower before plopping yourself into the warm sheets. Yoongi had left you a voicemail you hours ago, but you had been so caught up that you hadn't checked your phone until now. You weren't going to call back due to the time change. Namjoon and Yoongi were for sure knocked the hell out. They wouldn't hear a thing.
"Oyyy," Yoongi's raspy voice came up on the voicemail. "Just wanted to check on you and see how you were doing down there. Namjoon is out running errands but I think he's gonna be hanging out with Yana again. Call me back when you get a chance. But not when it's like 4 or 5AM here please. Take care of yourself and be safe."

Predictions on Baby Girl Sussex?
I’m FREEEEEEEE from finals and ready to chat with you all once again! Thank you all for being so patient, I’m so excited to dive into all your questions and give them the novel-length responses they deserve 😉
I’m assuming you mean name predictions haha, cause the only other thing I can think of to predict would be her birthday (for the record, I’ll go ahead and put my sister’s birthday, June 10th, for no reason other than I predicted my own birthday, April 26th, for Archie!). But I love talking about baby names (as you can see by the length of this post 😅), so let’s get into it.
So I fully expect to be completely taken aback by their pick. Like not even on the same planet as my predictions. Cause that’s just how those two roll lmao. But IF they’re staying in the same theme as Archie’s name, I’m expecting something that’s also short, possibly nickname-y, kind of dusty and vintage, but with a whimsical charm, just like Archie’s. I am still operating with the assumption that she will one day be Princess (whether or not that actually happens, of course, remains to be seen), so I’m trying to keep that title in mind. And also, given that name meanings appear to hold significance to them, I tried to at least somewhat keep meanings in mind. So, in no particular order:
Eloise
“Healthy; wide”
French, English
I am SO charmed by this name. If I hadn’t already decided on Elliott for my future son’s name, this name would be right at the top of my future daughter’s list. I just thinks it’s so delightfully playful yet still timeless and classic. It gives easy and pretty nicknames with Ellie and Ella, or even Lizzy (possibly to honor her great-grandmother?). “Archie and Eloise” sounds so perfect and natural to me, without sounding kitschy or too over the top with the matching. “Princess Eloise” is so deliciously perfect, it just fits together like a puzzle piece.
Eleanor
Unknown meaning
English, French
Eleanor hits almost all the same beats I mentioned above for Eloise, even down to the lovely Ellie/Ella nicknames. It’s even more royal than Eloise, with such heady associations as the legendary Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine (not to mention the American Queen, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt!). Eloise is closer to my heart, but I’d be thrilled with Eleanor as well.
Greta
“Pearl”; diminutive of Margaret
German
This one’s quite old-fashioned, but I think it’s so charming and would make an adorable name on a little girl. And fun fact, the name Meghan comes from a nickname for Margaret, which is why both those names as well as Greta all mean “Pearl.” So this would be a perfect way to honor little girl’s mama in a more subtle way.
Poppy
“Red flower”
Latin, English
Spunky yet sweet. Pays tribute to her mother’s homeland of California, while also sounding very at home in her father’s homeland of the UK. A flower name in honor of her mama’s own mama. This scarlet name would be even more perfect if the Ginger Avenger manages to make himself another little Gingette. And as I said to one of my anons the other day, “Princess Poppy” is so screeching cute I might actually combust if I think about it too much, so let’s move on.
Lea
“Meadow; weary”
English
To be totally honest, this one is mostly just because I’ve been addicted to listening to “Lea” by TOTO on repeat lately. Although “Princess Lea” might be a bit too . . . you know. Stor Wors. Even though the sci-fi princess pronounces her name differently, I think they’ll probably still want to avoid that association. Still, that song is heavenly and the name goes with all my criteria so I’m putting it in anyways.
Hazel
“Hazelnut tree”
English
Another nature name, one that I’m sure our favorite Earth Mama will enjoy ;) It’s newly popular, but in my opinion still retains that distinctive and whimsical uniqueness of a name that’s much further on the fringe than Hazel actually is. I can just picture a little hazel-eyed princess running barefoot around her gorgeous backyard, wild hair all spread out as she lays underneath a hazelnut tree. Ugh, so cute.
Etta
“Estate ruler”; feminine diminutive of Henry
English, Scottish
I suppose in response to Archie’s middle name Harrison, I’ve seen some Squaddies predict Henrietta for his little sister. And um . . . that is not a favorite of mine 😅 But if Harry wants to add his brand to his second little munchkin as well, why not Henrietta’s much more sleek and dynamic offshoot, Etta? It's got that old school feel, with also a spark of liveliness. I also love that it ties to their Black ancestry through one of the most legendary Queens of American Soul Music, Etta James.
Maeve
“She who intoxicates”
Irish
Incredibly endearing with a rich history. For my own personal use, this safer option might actually be called upon for my future daughter if I never manage to work up the courage to use my actual long-time Irish favorite, Saoirse. But for Harry and Meghan, I can’t really see them using this one. Still, I felt like I needed an M name to cover all my bases, and this is one of the few that I like. Some other honorable “M”entions (get it?) include Maisie, Melody, and Madeleine (thank you to my lovely anon for this one!).
Francesca
“From France; free man”; variation of Frances
Italian
I haven’t really mentioned middle names here, mostly because this post is long enough already and middle name combos just add a whole other level of crazy. But given the enormous legacy of her grandmother, I am extremely torn on whether Baby Girl will be getting a name in her honor. If her parents so choose, Diana’s middle name Frances, or even it’s more ornately feminine variation, Francesca, would be lovely honors for the little princess to carry. If they do end up honoring Diana, I’d expect it to be in Baby Girl’s middle name.
Violet
“Purple”
Latin, English
One last flower name for Earth Mama Meghan. Violet was my top pick for Archie when he was still the mysterious Baby Sussex, but though it has since fallen from my top spot, it still is a lovely, classic name of inarguable feminine grace, yet with an underlying core of strength and fortitude. I feel like Violet is a woman who ties her hair back with a soft velvet bow, but then hitches up her skirts, draws her sword, and shows the battlefield who’s boss. I just love the duality of this name, and I think it would be a lovely gift for a little girl.
Alice
“Noble”
German
Vintage, classic, girly, and solidly royal, this name calls to mind white rabbits and looking glasses. Once again, on a personal note, this might be an option for my future daughter if I chicken out on trying to get everyone to pronounce Alicia correctly. I love that name in the Spanish pronunciation, “Ah-lee-see-ah,” but I find the Anglicized “Ah-lee-sha” to be dreadful and I wouldn’t want to burden my girl with a lifetime of corrections. Anyways, Alice is just as elegant, if not quite as ornate, and in any case is much more likely for our British-American princess. Plus, what a stunning pair of name meanings to gift these two siblings: “Brave” Archie and “Noble” Alice. They sound straight out of an Arthurian legend. (Plus, how cute would “Archie and Alice” sound!)
Honorable Mentions Cause I Need To Wrap This Shit Up:
Evie/Edie (both follow all the E names I wrote about above, and Edie in particular is a modern name full of moxie that would be a great nickname for the older, traditional Edith)
Lily (yet another flower name, and I just like the sound of this one)
Spencer (another possible route to honoring Granny Diana, yet maintaining a much more modern and spunky taste than Frances, while also being less direct)
Clara (of Nutcracker fame, adding here mostly because I think I’d melt if I heard this in Harry’s voice and accent)
Lucy (same vibes as Alice and Clara)
Ivy (cute, simple, girly nature name, but unfortunately already in use by the daughter of Meghan’s close friend Jessica Mulroney)
Zoe (I have absolutely no personal connection to this name, but for some reason it just now randomly popped into my head as something they might choose, so here ya go)
So yeah! Sorry this was so long, but it was super fun! Thank you for sending in this great question. I’d love to hear all your guys’ name predictions, dream picks, and wild card guesses!
