I called it, Ruan Mei is deranged and shady as hell
#I love her#I also said that she the light cone and the light cone description and her last eidolon and some other things#made her feel almost nonexistent or barely there‚ but not in a Herta and Xueyi kind of way#And it seems I was right too? That line‚ 'Life is so colourful‚ but... it has nothing to do with me' reads to me like that for now#Really digging the way Dr. Ratio contrasts or parallels her. How she talks about keeping a serene mask until the situation is ascertained#and talking about emotions and feelings being able to be analysed and dissected‚ the root of which found#In the promotional video immediately after she says the thing about masks‚ Ratio appears talking precisely about the same thing#It's so cool how both also take advantage in their fighting style of the weaknesses of the enemies#Ruan Mei with the weakness break effect and Ratio with the debuffs#Ruan Mei didn't seem as scornful of Ratio and the Guild as Herta seemed but Ruan Mei is also less open#The leaked line of Ratio about her (I can't recall exactly but it wasn't anything we haven't seen in the new Ruan Mei short‚#something about how the true intentions of her research are not what she stated and that she is actually the most ambitious member#of the Genius Society)‚ while not truly negative‚ doesn't seem positive either. But he perhaps isn't as callous#as he is when he talks about Herta and Screwllum. Or perhaps he is being even more so#I'm looking forwards to their interactions and the development of the relationship between the Guild and the Society as a whole#But also the dynamics and problems inside the Genius Society itself#They all seem to have their all personal and selfish agenda which could be source of clash‚ whereas the Guild seems more people driven#Even if they have at times pretty ugly methods. Not they the Genius Society doesn't#Ajfjsjd anyway I wonder if the Ratio and Ruan Mei parallels and contrasts will be truly explored or if it will be left in the air#just to sell either character more#But it seems sooo intriguing and so shady and I'm so into how two faces or representation of the same Aeon or under the same drive#could approach a similarish issue. Or how could one view the other. And how in general all that will develop#I've been looking forwards to more insight on the Guild/Genius Society confrontation since very early on haha#I am loving Ruan Mei *sighs* deranged#I talk too much

Another thing I love about HTP is how they develop the starting villains.
Now, we are introduced to this sabbat clan and they are all pretty one-dimensional. They are all generally just “crazy murderous vampires” and act as such in episode 1. The most personality they have can be gleaned from their fighting styles (shot beard just pummels everything, ape leaps and tackles at his enemies, Pyotr seems somewhat of a stealthy type, meanwhile Kevin takes a hostage and bends his opponent’s will).
By all means, Ogre Poppenang could’ve just left them like that, but they didn’t.
Shitbeard is a crass biker brute. He also recites many philosophical statements and viewpoints during episode 2, and seems to be jealous that the family have graduated college. He also constantly talks about how much he misses many of the mundane parts of life, such as existing in the sun and eating cream crackers. Additionally, he was turned while donating to charity.
Ape meanwhile is the newest member, not even being Blood Bonded to the others yet. He is also the most excited to be a part of the sabbat. He constantly is trying to say quotes that make him seem cool, help him fit in. He is massively cringeworthy—even in universe—but he is completely earnest. He reminds me of a young kid joining a fandom for a show or game they’re excited about.
Kevin is probably the most talked about member so ima keep it brief: his life was shit. He was raised to lead an ok but mind-numbingly uneventful life. He tried to strike it big, to give his life meaning, and failed horribly, leading him to continue his misery. And just as he’s about to swing his life around, he gets thrust into a world of darkness where he gains status but is enslaved in both body and mind. And once he gets tossed away by his new life, he joins the sabbat, because he feels like it’s the only real choice that would matter for him. That it’s the only one that he can make.
Then Pyotr. While everyone else has something hidden that makes them more endearing, Pyotr is shown to be much more VILE than we have thought. He is a coward who only comes out of hiding when he sees a weak or weakened target, and he is willing to backstab his teammates for any advantage without remorse. And when Kitten points this exact detail out, he gets absolutely PISSED that Kitten thinks he still cares about that (though with how pissed he got, I feel like there was at least some part of him that did regret, and his rant afterwards also serves to reassure himself that he’s a heartless vampire, banishing those feelings of regret and shame to the back of his mind. That’s just my headcanon though). When he diablerizes his teammates, however, he gets more careless. More risk-taking. More reckless. He uses his usual stealth approach less and less, going for more brutality. All of which leads to his death. Also, the reveal that he was a handsome man before his turn, probably turned BECAUSE of it, might factor into how he grew so wicked.

I don’t know if you talked about it but would you say Raph is a weak fighter compared to his brothers o ask because people talk about how strong and capable Don is and how talented Mike is but what about Raph
Okay, so. Short answer
Raph is an extremely skilled, massively strong, and deeply motivated turtle. He is an undeniably skilled fighter, and without him they would not win nearly as often.
Long answer under cut
First thing, I really am clueless about martial arts 😅 This will all just be from the perspective of your Slightly Less Than Average Viewer, I tend to focus on/notice the character beats much more than the action beats.
The cool thing about TMNT though, is that the character arcs and the fighting styles are very closely connected
Raph is the team’s Rock in so many ways. The most obvious, the one I think we tend to talk about, or at least that I usually focus on in fics, is his sheer determination. You just can’t knock this guy down. Especially if he’s protecting someone, which he pretty much always is (exception being the Battle Nexus. More on that later). But also, though. He brings out their strengths.
He makes himself a stepping stone for the brothers he believes in. Let’s talk about their strengths for a second.
When Mikey fights, his quick wit is a huge part of it. He uses intimidation tactics. In the H.A.T.E. episode he sees an enemy with the same weapon as him and, literally looming over the guy, grins like a maniac and says “This is just too good to be true.” When Bishop is about to literally cut him open he acts scared right up until the exact moment when he needs to act, and in that split second he takes the time to say “You should never take your eyes off of me.” He wants Bishop to remember that moment. There are times Mikey wants his enemies to underestimate him. But he also very often scares them on purpose, both to throw them off so they’re easier to beat, and so that he won’t actually have to hurt them. You cannot intimidate a guy like that.
And when we think about the people he lives with, and their fighting styles. And especially their specific relationships with him. Who do we think Mikey learned how to trash talk during a fight from? Who do we think taught him to always stand his ground?
Oh I don’t know maybe Mr Yo Mama himself
Not only is this something Raph and Mikey both do, it’s something we see them practicing together all the time. And it’s the way Mikey beats him at the Battle Nexus.
Honestly? I think that’s (one of) the reasons that defeat bothered Raph so deeply. This is his little brother who he taught how to stand up for himself. He’s the one who showed him how to keep your head and not let your enemy take advantage of your sensitivity (they are both so sensitive)! So if by this point Mikey has surpassed him, does that mean he can’t really protect him anymore?
Does it mean Mikey doesn’t need him anymore?
Reminder that his initial reaction is not, “Mikey will be impossible to live with” (and we do know that Mikey will be difficult to live with over this). What he actually says as he hysterically shakes the nearest stranger is, “I’ll never be able to live with myself.” He wants to be a better than his brothers because he feels like he needs to be able to protect them.
Now from Mikey’s pov, he just did a really great job at something Raph taught him, something he’s always been trying to mimic about Raph, and instead of being proud Raph is angry. In spite of all his bragging, I don’t think Mikey sees this the way Raph does. He thinks he won one time and that should be celebrated, not that he’s passing Raph up and leaving him behind.
Now in the end, is Mikey better at this skill than Raph? I don’t know, they both use it very well. They both also have their slip-ups, and the Battle Nexus was one of Raph’s. But the point is that Mikey learned it from Raph in the first place.
Ultimately Mikey will become better at it. Because why would Raph keep pushing himself once he sees that his little brother can do it?
For Leo, throughout the show his biggest strength is his refusal to give into fear. He overcomes his fear of heights. He won’t be afraid of the Shredder. When Master Solinter goes missing he won’t assume the worst and give up, and he’s there for his brothers, giving them hope to balance out the fear. His ultimate victory is to overcome his fear of failure. Well, speaking of the Battle Nexus, who else is afraid of failure?
Early in the show we get little interactions between Raph and Leo showing Raph pushing Leo outside of his comfort zone. They’re out in something Donnie’s built that wasn’t fully tested and Leo reminds him to go slow, just to be safe? Raph’s slamming on the gas. They’re separated from Master Splinter and the only way around the rubble is up towards the surface, something Leo has been taught to fear all his life? Raph is the one who’s talking to him, waiting for him, making sure he’s with them. Even his fear of inadequacy—does anyone else remember when Leo was spending all that extra time with Master Splinter perfecting this one specific kick? When he gets a chance later to use it in battle, it’s Raph (out of his bros) who in the heat of battle takes a moment to watch and rates him on it (only a six because that’s all his fingers. Leo even says “only six?” Which I know is a joke but can you imagine little Leo being used to getting tens from Raph because he’ll use his toes?).
The point is that in the small moments as well as the big ones, right from the very start of the show, Raph knows fear is the big thing Leo’s going to struggle with and he is very deliberately helping him with it.
Then Leo fights Shredder, gets thrown through a window, and it kinda looks like he might not make it. The first thing he says when he wakes up?
I will not live in fear.
We see a pretty big shift in him thereafter. He’s much more confident to pursue what he thinks is right without first consulting Splinter (he still values his input but he’s maturing into his own person). And his fear of spending time on the surface, while always present, I don’t think we ever see being paralyzing again. And it’s Raph who sees this change and gives him the nickname “Fearless Leader.”
It’s usually Raph who calls Leo the leader. Splinter calls them a team, he rarely singles out Leo.
The reason Leo makes such a great leader is because he will always hang onto hope that there is a third option, a way out, an end of the tunnel. And he knows how to impart that hope to his brothers and spur them to action when they might otherwise be overwhelmed.
He knows how to do that because it’s what Raph has been doing for him all their lives.
Donny, the smart one. He didn’t learn that from Raph, right? He’s always simply been a prodigy.
Ahem, in my humble and correct opinion, wrong.
The turtles started mimicking Splinter’s moves when they were little. All of them were obsessed with ninjitsu, because Splinter was obsessed. And you know who, out of all of them, has the most obsessive personality? The most one track mind of anyone ever? The most reserved, passive even? The most likely to have the development of his own personality subsumed by his singular goal of succeeding at the task set in front of him, of perfecting this one specific skill and earning praise from his chosen authority figure?
It’s not Leo. He struggles with this some, but balance is a natural strength of his. Mr. I Literally Will Not Sleep Until I Have Rescued the Underground City, on the other hand….
But you know who is the best at prioritizing his goals, keeping an eye on his surroundings?
Maybe the turtle who’s always watching not only over his own shoulder, but every single one of his brothers’ when they fight together.
So we don’t see any of this. It’s all headcanon territory now. But I think Raph was interested in cars and machinery first. Leo and Mikey didn’t want to talk about it. So he looked around, and there’s Donny, who even Splinter is always saying needs to learn how to take breaks. Donny’s always been a good listener. Once Raph gets him started, he’s hooked—and now he has Two hobbies to obsess over which is slightly healthier than Only One.
I think from there he’d learn how much he loves learning and become obsessed with dinosaurs and other subjects all on his own. But still it’s usually Raph who’s grounding him back in reality when he gets so deep in thought he loses sight of the Task At Hand, or so overly focused on one thing he misses Life-Saving Details (such as, hey bro, there’s a guy standing directly behind you with a sharp weapon).
Anyway we see both Raph and Donny use this skill—whaddaya call it? Multitasking?—during important fights when they’re at their best. It’s elbowing the guy behind them on their way to grab their weapon. It’s throwing enemies at each other or getting out of the way at the exact right moment. And it’s especially, keeping eyes on their team.
So overall, yes, he did learn to be a genius from Raph. Not just from Raph, sure, he had his whole family helping and a lot of his own natural talent. But I think Raph is the one who would have been able to pull him away from his First Chosen Obsession to see that there’s a whole world out there to learn about. And out of all of them, I think Raph had the most interest in learning about the outside world at the earliest age.
Conclusion: In many specific areas Raph is second best, but this is precisely because he’s the one helping his brothers find and fully realize their individual strengths. So Jack of all trades, yes, which is a type of strength a master can’t have, but also a teacher. The skill he is the best at is recognizing and nurturing others skills. In that way (and some others), he is the most like Splinter of all the turtles.
I forgot to make this about his fighting style specifically and just ended up rambling about him, but! His passion by itself makes him near unstoppable, and he has worked hard to add deadly skill to that passion. I care him a normal amount (this is a lie she cares him so much)

can you do an analysis on how each ninja fights??
YES!!! btw this isnt just from my head, this is from a person who binged ninjago 50+ times and has been watching it since she was 3. i have watched it enough to come up with an analysis i promise
Cole:
Although he’s decently skilled at it , Cole does not like far ranged combat - its not his strongest suit. Mainly because he doesn't like far ranged weapons. However, when this type of combat is needed, he simply chucks boulders at whoever needs to be taught a lesson.
Cole is definitely the king when it comes to hand-to-hand combat. His strong body structure (awesome muscular build) enables him to throw harder punches, and on top of that he has his super strength that gives every hit he throws an added bonus (enemies really be flying all over the place when this kid fights). You can try to throw a punch at him but it would be like punching a brick wall. Cole is also a very powerful ‘kicker’, and has an excellent defense. Cole uses scythes/war hammers as his default weapons, and could use other weapons such as the ‘morning star'(yk, the big huge weapons with spikes on them, like the chain connected to a huge spiky ball. that would be so cool). Also, he could probably slay with gauntlets. Like cmon. Cole is able to use heavier weapons and hit harder because when it comes to physical strength, he surpasses all the ninja.
However, he is a tad little slow due to his size, but his skull breaking punches make up for it and more. He uses his elemental powers to his advantage, also throwing small but dangerous rocks at his enemies in between his punches, and sometimes finishing them off with a boulder punch ( a punch + a boulder. boulder punch. its super effective). Cole is normally extremely patient but on the battlefield he simply prefers facing enemies head on. He still observes them and make’s sure to know what he’s getting himself into. Not the most analytical in the team, but he certainly isn't lacking much in that department.
He works the best with all ninja, but especially well with Kai and Jay, since they compensate for his ‘slower’ attacks. Also, yk the small and tall fighting methods... (big uses hands and throws small in the air, small jumps of off big’s back, etc ) gotta love em. With jay, he’s more on defense to keep jay’s back covered. When cole is fighting with  kai its like Cole  trying to minimize a feral cats damage while also trying to maximize the feral cats damage ( hint: kai is the feral cat).
Nya:
Nya is the Queen when it comes to hand-to-hand combat. She also has a strong body structure, similar to Cole, and so she also throws some nasty punches. Although she doesn’t have super strength like Cole, to make up for it she  fights in smooth yet harsh motions, using water to disrupt the enemies movements/slow them down so she can pinpoint their weak areas and break their noses. She is the queen after all.
Her default weapon is a spear, bc she likes to use pole-like weapons. Pole-like weapons such as spears and lances allow Nya to thrust forward with them, and have a long distance they can cover without having to actually stand far, unlike far-ranged weapons. This goes well with her water powers as water hits harder with increased pressure and is able to take any form. Nya could probably work well with whips too, or like form water whips. That would be cool.
She doesn’t like far ranged combat simply because its ‘boring’ for her.
Nya is a little faster than Cole, but she still isn't the fastest (more about that below). She tends to analyze enemies before attacking, or analyze them while attacking. Either works! She also tends to outsmart her enemies by  appearing weaker than she looks, or looking at their fighting style and then adapting a counter-style (water is adaptable, after all).
Nya also works well with all the ninja. However she works best with Kai, Jay, and Zane. With Kai and Jay its also the small-tall method (Nya’s taller than both). With Jay and Zane she has elemental reactions, since water and lighting are more effective together (shock shock shock + more shocks) also they have chemistry + nya helps zane freeze at larger capacities, also both are super smart and are good at strategies. With kai, nya just works well . yk. reading eachother with simple glances. when together enemies being devoured within seconds. destroying whoever hurt the other. fun!
Jay:
Jay is not the best at hand to hand combat, but as a ninja he is obviously still not someone to be taken lightly. He cant throw hard punches, but he can throw fast punches. Lightning is not a slow force, after all! Jay may not be excelling in physical strength but he is arguably the fastest ninja.
His size also gives him an advantage, since he’s not heavy or tall, he’s able to double his speed  and rapidly attack his enemies. He tends to tire out his enemies first, using speed and swiftly strikes them with lightning to take them down. You think he’s teleporting? Nah he’s just hella fast dude
Jay isn't very ‘analytical’ but does very well with limited materials; he can invent/create something that can get them out of any sticky situation, not quite perfect yet very effective! This is a skill that is unique to him, as he invents best with scarce materials.
Jays' default weapon is nun chucks. He doesn't really like any other weapons. He loves metal nun chucks because remember, metal conducts electricity. He can simply use them as a weapon, and then use his powers and so the whoever he hits the nun chuck weapon with ( or any metal weapon really) would get a hard electric shock. Ouch. He would also do really well with Chakrams (if ur too lazy to google it, they are circular weapons- kinda like circular boomerangs with sharp edges. ).  Doesn't mind far range combat, and isn't bad at it either. He has no preference, as long as he gets to work with nya LOL
Jay works well with all ninja, especially with nya (reasons stated above) and works well with cole (also stated above).
Zane:
Zane is good in hand-to-hand combat, and his punches hurt quite a lot ( he has metal hands, after all). He would be ranked second when it comes to hard punches, very close after Cole and Nya. His body structure... is... well... metal.
His defense is the best out of all the ninja mainly because who would wanna punch a tin can (its certainly do able, but boy it hurts). Zane tends to do 100% analytical fighting, he estimates the enemies moves and studies how they fight. He is the most analytical fighter.
His moves are careful and calculated. He takes the next course of action based on statistics. However, this sometimes does not work when it comes to ambushes, or unexpected fights as there is no time to observe or estimate. That’s all right though, because Zane isn't entirely dependent on this, as he does have his powers to slow/freeze enemies down.
You wanna know how many enemies are left? Ask Zane, he can scan the area. You wanna know an enemies weak point? Dw, Zane can scan it for you. Thanks Zane!!!
Zane  excels in mid/far ranged combat- he’s the best ninja for the job. His default weapons are shuriken's and bows, after all. He has the patience for it, and has excellent aim. If the ninja had guns, he would be a dangerous sniper.
Zane works well with every ninja, but has an advantage working with Nya (as stated before) and Pixal
Kai:
Kai is similar to Jay when it comes to hand-to-hand combat. He can throw punches, but cannot throw hard punches (he was trained to be a blacksmith though, so I’d say he’s a little behind zane). But he is extremely fast, closely second to only Jay. His biggest advantage in hand-to-hand combat is agility. Kai is the most agile ninja, and his immense flexibility (he is also most flexible)  gives him an upper hand in many situations. He also has the best reflexes ; his nimble moves make him a hard target. You wont see a ninja ur gonna see a gymnast. A gym-ja.
Zane and Nya are the best logical planners, but logical plans need time and observation. Kai excels the most when faced with ambushes or fast-paced situations ; he’s always on his toes and his impulsivity becomes beneficial, since he takes quick action and takes advantage of  chances that the other’s would never have noticed. He’s also as astute as Nya and Zane, just in a less logical, and in a more of a crafty way. He isn’t a patient fighter though, so he sometimes gets himself into... situations.
His default weapons are sword/katanas, and he uses them as an extension of himself; the best swordsman on the team.  What’s that? You want kai to do far-ranged combat? Bestie, for kai, far ranged combat is just throwing fireballs from a distance. You might as well throw bombs at ur enemies. Kai doesn't do well with far-ranged weaponry. If Kai had short ranged-pistols, like one on each hand (like Jinx from Arcane or Kiana from Honkai Impact) he would also reign supreme.
Kai works well with all ninja, especially with Nya (stated above) , Cole (also stated above) , and Lloyd (lloyd works really well with every ninja, but he has patience and he helps kai think things through).
thats it for now!  i’ll reblog and include lloyd in this after part two of s16 comes out, bc i wanna add his “oni-style”

Went to see Across the Spiderverse so I can fiiinally join in the hype hahahaha.
It was fantastic. The whole time I kept thinking how much I wished there had been a movie like this when I was a teen. I loved it as an adult, but as a teen I'd have been like next level obsessed.
Spoilers in between general squee
So Miles Morales is officially the coolest Spiderman. Well, at least he has the coolest movies, haha. Take your pick what Spiderman you like but seriously, I can't get over how this movie is conceptualized. Of course I felt the same with the first one, but this one lit up even further. It's artistic, it's musical, it's action-packed, it's comedic, it's full of heart, and somehow it balances all of that - never seeming too sentimental or too callous or too rushed or too cliche. It could have been any of those things, but instead of running from it, the movie embraces weakness and takes advantage of it. Heck, the core concept of the movie - that there's a "canon," a destiny, which must be fulfilled - could be a metaphor for how a story doesn't feel cliche no matter how many times it's been told if the characters have individuality and agency of their own.
The whole thing was good but the art and music, THE ART AND MUSIC. As for the art, it's so creative, such an innovative marriage of comic book style and computer animation. It doesn't say "This is too much, we won't be believable." Because it's not afraid of itself, neither is the audience. I think what makes it great is that it's got a clear idea tying all the different styles together, that idea being that this is a celebration of art styles throughout the decades, the same way the story is a celebration of our shared human experience.
The music is very Now. It's interesting and fits really well with each character and each scene. When Hobie appeared and it got all awesomely punk rock I could barely resist banging my head hahaha.
Also Hobie is THE BEST. From his character design to his personality to his role in the story, he's just so, so memorable and cool. He's got a small role, but he takes full advantage of it.
Loved Pavitr too, adorable, charming, annoying sweetheart. Really hope we haven't seen the last of him. "This is your daughter who I do not know" x'DDD My one complaint about this movie: I wanted more of Hobie of Pavitr so badly!!
Also Jess!! Pregnant, riding a motobike, and fighting evil. This movie pulled zero punches.
My favorite was Gwen. Gwen was everything. I was so super into her. Anecdote time: When I was growing up, I loved action and adventure stories. My favorite characters and ships almost exclusively involved boys and not girls. I felt bad because I wasn't supporting female characters - but I couldn't help that I didn't like them, or at least not as much as the boys. And I hated any time it seemed someone treated me like a "fan girl" who's just "in it for cute boys." But here's the thing. I did like female characters... in shows made for girls. Like Sailor Moon, CardCaptor Sakura, Utena - in all those shows my favorites were girls, and my ships were het or FxF. But the shows for girls weren't as popular as the shows for boys, because girls would watch both but boys mainly wouldn't. So the boy shows had bigger fandoms and more content and lasted longer.
What I'm trying in a roundabout way to get at is: Gwen Stacy is the proof that I, and many other unfairly labeled "fan girl" types, were really just desperate for great female characters in action shows that were popular with boys too. Your choices back then were: the love interest who is mainly a cheerleader, the love interest who does have some cool skills but never as cool as the boys, the love interest who is really cool and interesting but the story is only told from the boy's perspective, or the strong independent woman who doesn't need a man (aka a horrible, one-dimensional, token example of a "strong female character"). But Gwen. Gwen is none of that. She's strong, she's vulnerable, she needs help, but she's independent, she's fierce but also soft, and she's so far very much got her own natural, organic role in the story. She's hands down my favorite. And if there had been more female characters like her when I was a kid, I'd have loved them as well. So there. Fuck everyone who says otherwise, lol. And I know that there is a theory that Gwen is trans, and if so I will support it for all the same reasons. Just make characters who are fleshed out and real, whether they are boys or girls or trans or nonbinary. Just make them all like that and we won't have to have silly arguments about it! :P
Anedcote over. So, I love that Gwen got her own mini-movie in the first bit. I love the storm clouds in her relationship with Miles. It's not the usual stuff - I mean it is, but it's done in a way that feels really fresh. Her story almost predicts Miles's, or what Miles's could be. She's already lost a Spiderman, and when her father, a cop just like Miles's, discovers her identity, he isn't supportive. So when she hears that part of her canon as a Spiderman may mean her father dies, she's so heartbroken and depressed that she accepts it must be. When she tells Miles that in every universe a relationship between Gwen and Spiderman ends badly, and he responds something like "Then let's make this the first which doesn't," omg. My heart. I love them so much.
And more on Gwen. When it was clear that she was more or less betraying Miles, "for the greater good," I was a little disappointed at first. I loved her bit in the beginning so much and felt sad that she was then degraded to "girl from the wrong side of the tracks who needs to be saved by the hero." But that doesn't happen! Of course she's inspired by Miles, he's a big part of why she's able to stand up again. But he's not all of it. When Miguel throws her into the machine to send her back to her reality, I was so afraid she was going to cry and plead for another chance. But again, she doesn't. She just fights, and when she can't fight anymore, she says "We're supposed to be the good guys." And when she gets sent back, the thing she most feared, she discovers what can change when you take a risk on a second chance. And I think she realizes that her resignation was really fear. A false sense of control felt safer than accepting that our world is really chaos. That's where Miguel, I assume, is still... interesting to see what will go down with him in the future.
And last, Miles. He's just the perfect hero for this movie. He feels deeply. He's got conviction. I never believed The Spot was his real nemesis, so when it turned out to be his doppelganger in the other reality, I was like, omg so fitting. Yeah, it's overdone, but it doesn't feel like it is! Because it fits so well with what the story is trying to do. Miles was able to resist Miguel's rationale in a way the others couldn't because he has those deep convictions and that raw human hope in the future. But for that same reason, if things go wrong, if he fails when he's staked his whole heart on succeeding, the danger is losing his sense of self and turning into Miles the Prowler. It's such a great analogy for grief and suffering and why we struggle through our hard lives.
Just every moment was good. I kept waiting for one that I'd think well this could have been done better, but it didn't come. Maybe Gwen's dad was a little too quick to be ok with the whole portal jumping thing, lol. I really don't care. Such a fun movie and incredibly well made. I know the music and art made a huge difference for me - one reason why I feel like I could stand to watch it again, when I really haven't bothered to rewatch any other superhero movies. (Except the first Avengers, I think I'd still enjoy that if I watched it again.) It just never got stale and held my interest the whole time. And I gotta say: MilesxGwen 5 ever. Hahaha. Idk what the future holds for them (I mean Margo is also a sweetheart and nothing lasts forever...) but anyway I SHIP IT!!!

Fate and Phantasms #272: Super Orion
Tumblr media
This is it: the endgame. Today on Fate and Phantasms, we start our way into Lostbelt #5, which is the same story segment on FGO proper is on. (I know a lot of y’all probably finished it already but we didn’t, so shush.) We’re starting off with a bang- the grand archer himself, Super Orion! He’s a Zealot Barbarian to withstand the blessings of Artemis as well as a Champion Fighter to double down on his archery skills.
What a callback though, huh? It’s been four months since we’ve made a character that didn’t have some kind of spell slots. Ironically, that build was also an archer that did tons of damage. Let’s see how Orion stacks up.
Check out his build breakdown below the cut, or his character sheet over here! Obviously, expect spoilers for Atlantis below the cut.
Next up: Sword of a cool guy.
Race and Background
Orion is part god, so that’s pretty obviously makes him an Aasimar. He doesn’t hurt himself (usually) and he won’t be in range to use the spoopy version, so we’re making him a Protector Aasimar for +1 Strength and +2 Wisdom. He also gets Darkvision, Celestial Resistance to radiant damage (not like that’d stop his wife), the Light cantrip since he’s made of stars, and Healing Hands. That means once a long rest you can give a creature your level in HP as an action. That’s not a ton, but it’ll help out if you ever hit 0. Big if.
Orion is an Outlander, a hunter with proficiency in Athletics to help with the checks since we can’t focus on strength too much here, and Survival to track prey. I’d say you’re more of a “obliterate everything in the forest” kind of guy, but tracking’s good too.
And while we’re here, we’re actually going to do something a little weird. Remember Theros?
For those of you who don’t, that was a D&D setbook a while back that introduced the Piety mechanic. Essentially, you scratch a god’s back, they give you phenomenal cosmic power. I swear I used it once or twice when it first came out, but now that we’re in the Greek Lostbelt it just makes sense to give it another shot.
So, what god are we going with? Nylea, goddess of the hunt, right? Ha ha, WRONG. Nylea hates people who hunt for sport, so she’d skewer Orion before he even said hi. Instead, we’re going with Purphoros, god of the forge and the one closest to a Hephaestus analog. Why? Because Orion refused the Hephaestus Klironomia, saying he was tanky enough without it. That means he’s as tough as a regular person using Hephaestus Kilronomia- if we want the build to match up, that’s what we need.
You usually get 1 point of piety per session if you’re staying within your god’s guidelines, so what do you get for it? At 3+ piety, you can cast Shield of Faith for free once a day and learn the Mending cantrip. More AC is never going out of style. At 10+, you can cast Heat Metal once a day using your Intelligence, making this spell both out of character and pretty weak. You also have advantage against being knocked prone, which is more up your ally. At 25+, you can use your reaction to prevent being pushed by an effect while standing. Just- just look at Orion. That guy’s not going anywhere. Finally, at 50+, you can bump your Strength up by 2. Or your intelligence, but… no.
Just in case you still have misgivings, let’s take a look at how you gain or lose piety in Theros. Obviously adapting it to another game will change your rules, but I can’t control what your DM does, and ultimately this is an optional part of the build anyway.
Fighting those who would rule over others. Absolutely. Taking action on an impulse. Yes. Destroying something that outlived its usefulness. Yes. Creating something in Purphoros’ name?
Meh. Two out of three isn’t bad.
To avoid losing piety, don’t follow unjust laws, don’t create something shoddy, and don’t back down from a fight. 3/3.
Ability Scores
If you want to make a grand servant, it helps to minmax a bit. Use point buy and set Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution to 15, and Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma to 8. You have the body of a Greek god, but the head of a teddy bear. I think it might have something to do with your blood constantly getting cut off around the neck, idk.
Class Levels
Barbarian 1: Starting off as a barbarian makes you super beefy. You get proficiency in Strength and Constitution saves as well as two skills. You’re pretty good at intimidation, and you can’t hit something without seeing it, so Perception is a good choice too. As far as your actual features go, Rage is… a mixed bag. The advantage on strength checks and saves is nice since we can’t quite boost those to where they should be, but the extra damage for melee attacks is completely wasted on an archer. That being said, the resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage is very well appreciated. As an archer, you can fight well outside the range of most spells, which means those three damage types are by far the most likely for you to deal with if you’re playing to your strengths. This also means you’ll probably have to be more aggressive while raging, since it’ll end before its usual minute limit if you aren’t attacking someone or taking damage. Currently you can rage twice a day, but that’ll go up as you level. A belt is not armor, so it’s a good thing you have Unarmored Defense, adding your constitution modifier to your usual AC calculation. That means your AC is currently 14, which is pretty good for an archer.
Barbarian 2: A second level barbarian can use a Reckless Attack to gain advantage on all their attacks for a turn, at the cost of giving advantage to their attackers for the round. Sadly, this also doesn’t work on ranged attacks, though it is a good boost in power for your club. Instead, you can use your Danger Sense for advantage on dexterity saves caused by things you can see. Fireballs, traps, dragon breath, that sort of thing. Somehow I don’t think taking quarter damage from an orbital cannon will help much, but you never know.
Barbarian 3: At third level you gain proficiency in another barbarian skill thanks to Primal Knowledge. There’re two skills from the list you don’t have yet, and you get this twice. Not hard to figure out what to pick. You also activate your Radiant Soul at this level, so you can fly for a minute per day, dealing extra radiant damage once a turn. To be fair, you don’t fly. But your wife does, so ask for a pick me up. By your neck. You’ve got a lot of constitution, so it’s probably fine. If it isn’t, thank goodness you’re a Zealot. That means you’re a Warrior of the Gods so you can be resurrected for free. We had to get you back to Chaldea somehow. Also, your Divine Fury adds more radiant damage to the first attack you make each turn while raging. Another reason zealot’s so great for Orion: unlike most barb classes, Zealot doesn’t care if you use ranged weapons.
Barbarian 4: For your first Ability Score Improvement, round up your Dexterity and Constitution. A lot happens when you do this. You get four more HP since that changes retroactively, you deal more damage with your arrows, and your AC pops up by 2. That makes your skin about as tough as most heavy armor sets.
Barbarian 5: Fifth level get an Extra Attack each action, so that’s two each turn. Your Fast Movement also increases your walking speed by 10’, so whether you need to close in on your quarry or stay out of a rampaging god’s way, you’ll be covered.
Fighter 1: Barbarians don’t get more attacks, so if we want even more damage, we can do that in fighter. At first level you get a Fighting Style, and since you’re the archer, you get the Archery. That’s a +2 to every attack roll you make with a ranged weapon. Plus, you can use your bonus action to find a Second Wind, healing you for a little bit once a short rest. It’s not a huge amount, but humans are endurance predators, so I’m sure you can make it last.
Fighter 2: Second level fighters can use an Action Surge to take a second action once a short rest. We can’t get more attacks per action, but more actions per turn is totally doable.
Fighter 3: At third level you become a Champion, giving you Improved Critical. Now you deal critical damage on a 19 or a 20, effectively increasing your critical hit chance permanently just as much as a reckless attack would, with no downside and no restriction against ranged weapon. And if you use your club recklessly, you’ll have a 1/5 chance of dealing a critical hit. It’s almost like Orion is good at dealing critical hits or something, wild.
Fighter 4: Use this ASI to bump your Dexterity up again for a stronger AC and offense. It’s a simple level, but this is a simple build.
Barbarian 6: Back in your main class, you gain a Fanatical Focus, so you can re-roll a failed save once per rage. I’m sure Artemis must have tried the brain thing on you once or twice before Chaldea showed up, right?
Barbarian 7: Seventh level barbs have a Feral Instinct that gives you advantage on initiative rolls. You don’t get much time to wait around when a deer’s about to bolt, after all. Also, you can use an Instinctive Pounce when you start raging so you move up to half your movement speed. Again, whether you’re getting closer or further from the enemy it’s very useful.
Barbarian 8: With this ASI, we max out your Dexterity for the most accurate shots and best initiative rolls we can get. Also, your AC is now 18, which is the best kind of armor you can get, usually.
Barbarian 9: Ninth level barbarians have a Brutal Critical, adding an extra die to the doubled damage caused by a critical hit. Remember how you deal more crits than most people? This is why that’s good.
Barbarian 10: A tenth level zealot has a Zealous Presence that inspires nearby creatures. When you start to rage, you give up to 10 other creatures advantage on attacks and saves for a round. This doesn’t work on you though, so your bow is still stuck without a way to get advantage normally. Also, you’re an archer. You’re usually several hundred feet away from the fight. Eh. If you end up on the front lines, it’ll be useful.
Barbarian 11: Eleventh level barbarians can go into a Relentless Rage, meaning you can avoid dying while raging by making a DC 10 constitution save. If you succeed, the DC goes up by five ‘til you finish a long rest and you stay alive at 1 HP.
Barbarian 12: Use this ASI to finally pick up the Sharpshooter feat. It lets you fire at long range without disadvantage, ignore all but full cover, and you can take a -5 attack penalty for a +10 damage bonus. No archer is complete without it!
Barbarian 13: Thirteenth level barbarians get a second die added to their brutal critical. Brutal.
Barbarian 14: A fourteenth level zealot can Rage Beyond Death. Essentially, while all other rules apply once you hit 0 HP (death rolls, dying outright if you lose 3 times, etc.) you don’t actually hit the ground until you stop raging. Plus, if you get healed before the rage is over, it’s like you never got knocked down at all. That means you’ve got a good five minutes of life before that bow you’re using liquefies everything from the shoulder down, so you’d better shoot your wife before that time limit’s up, buddy.
Barbarian 15: Fifteenth level barbarians have a Persistent Rage, so their rage can’t end early unless they will it. That rage might literally be the only thing keeping you alive at times, so it’s best you hold onto it as hard as you can.
Barbarian 16: Our final level of the build is the Tough feat for an additional 40 HP. Like you need it.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
You didn't really need that extra HP, but dear god is it good for you. You have 240 HP, and an AC rivaling heavy armor. To put that in perspective, 120 HP in light armor is usually considered good for an archer. Not only do you have double the HP, but you double up even further with Rage, giving you a silly amount of HP people have to chew through from a football field away. And that doesn't even touch on the healing you've got or the rage!
You can also deal a ton of damage with that bow of yours, with sharpshooter, radiant soul, and divine fury coming together to deal 2d8+43 damage with one arrow. Radiant soul lasts a minute, but that's pretty much an entire battle once a day, and that's assuming your expanding crit damage doesn't come into play. If it does, you're dealing 6d8 damage, kinda-sorta a fireball from one arrow.
A bow n arrow barb is a surprisingly good build, at least defensively. Your extra range makes it hard for anyone who isn't also an archer to hit you, and that mobility that helps most barbarians close the gap also helps you keep that gap wide open so a majority of monsters turn into a non-issue. And if you need to swap to melee you've already got a ton of features ready to ruin whatever monk got the drop on you.
Cons:
I know I just put a positive spin on it, but having features that only work in melee on a ranged fighter also kind of sucks! You have a couple whole levels that give you nothing new to work with unless your gameplan goes wrong, which might not be the most fun way to play the class.
If you do get within spellcasting range, your soft stats all but guarantee you'll get mind controlled, mind blanked, or banished to another plane. Plus you're not smart or charming, so doing stuff out of combat might be difficult if you can't convince your wife to help out.
You've got a one track mind in terms of damage. And as a character, but that's not a problem with the build. Basically, you have no magical weapons, and the only non-weapon damage you deal is Radiant. If you actually ended up fighting your god-tiered wife, odds are it wouldn't go in your favor even if your own weapon didn't roast you on the spot.

Newfound Bloom
“And… Go!”
In the blink of an eye, Ramsey flew into a practiced routine of punches and kicks against the punching bag. His trademark swiftness left little hypothetical room to block, a flurry of offense coming from all angles. All the while a confident yet focused expression adorned his face.
Behind him, Sakura stood with the timer app open on her phone. The two had opted to take turns surveying each other’s technique, seeing what the other can improve on. In their sessions, Sakura noticed how similar their fighting styles were; they both utilized multiple quick paced blows in short bursts, using their lightweight figures to their advantage. However, it wasn’t just his speed that she was paying attention to. She studied the power behind his attacks as well. Ramsey wasn’t a muscular fighter by any means, but he knew how to adjust his body weight to maximize the force of his attacks. The way his body tensed as he connected with the bag, the way his back muscles flexed as he drew his arm to his side, the sweat beading on his brow-
Her phone cried out with a shrill beeping, audibly startling her. Ramsey relaxed, rolling his shoulders as he turned back to her. “Well, how’d I do?”
Sakura fumbled as she turned the alarm off. “Uh- good! Yeah, you’re definitely getting quicker.” She sputtered, trying to regain composure.
Ramsey stretched. “Alright, I call break time.”
He walked over to the wall of the dojo, sitting down with a sigh. Sakura trotted after him, hoping he didn’t notice her starting too intently.
“Gotta say, I think we’re improving!” He said, happy-go-lucky as ever. “From the looks of it, your accuracy is getting better.”
“Well, you know, just been practicing hard is all.” she chuckled a bit.
“And it’s paid off! Keep it up and you’re gonna kick ass at the tournament.” He smiled at her.
“Oh, thanks!”
Everytime he complimented her, smiled at her, Sakura couldn’t help but feel this lightness in her chest. It felt safe, warm, exciting; but why? She’d sparred with people her age in the fighting club of her college before, but she never felt this way about any of them.
“So, is Dan entering?”
The girl buried this feeling briefly, opting to focus on social interaction. “Actually, he’s not. He wanted to when it was announced, but unfortunately he overslept and missed the window to sign up.”
This earned a laugh from him. “I expect nothing less.”
“I guess so, but Dan’s still a pretty good teacher.” She argued. “His methods may be a bit unorthodox, but he just wants to make a name for himself.”
“I mean, you’re not wrong, guy’s pretty entertaining most of the time.” He shrugged. “I’d honestly just like to get another chance to spar with him, the guy’s a riot.”
Sakura giggled. “I guess you’d want to pick up where you left off?”
“Hey! It's not my fault he brought up the new season of Challengers! You know that show is my weakness!”
“Still, that will always be a victory in his book.”
“All the more reason for a remwatch if you ask me.”
The topic got her thinking. “Oh! That reminds me, how are things going with you and Poison? You guys still looking for a partner for Hugo?”
“Yep!” He perked up. “We’ve found a couple new places to scout, we’re feeling pretty hopeful.”
“Honestly, I still think it's awesome you’re a co-manager for a professional wrestler.” Sakura exclaimed.
“Eh, it's nothing much,” He scratched the back of his head. “I just lend a hand where I can.”
“Still, you get first-hand experience of the wrestling scene in L.A., that’s pretty cool to me!” She said with earnest. “Tell me, what are they like? The tournaments and stuff, I mean.”
Placing his head on his knuckles, Ramsey collected his thoughts. “Well, they’re not the friendliest of spaces, certainly no respect among fighters like you’re used to. You also gotta watch what you’re doing and where you’re going, some of the guys can get pretty out of sorts if you get in their way.”
An intriguing mental image was being painted in Sakura’s mind. Someone as small as Rmasey among giant, hulking, conflict-hungry men. It seemed like an environment where you needed a loud personality to be heard, and a wealth of street smarts to stay in one piece. Yet from how he described it, Ramsey knew what he was doing. This garnered a certain level of respect from her, perhaps even a sense of admiration.
“Sounds like you’ve learned a lot under those two.” She commented.
“Yeah, I’m pretty fortunate that Poison took me under her wing, especially since I’ve never had a job before.”
Sakura thought for a moment. “Think you’d ever take me to one?”
“Huh?” He looked at her in surprise. “You’d want to go to one?”
“I ‘d just like to see where you work!”
“I mean, maybe if I can convince Poison, we can work something out,” he mused. “As long as you follow my lead, you should be fine.”
Sakura’s face lit up. “That would be awesome! And don’t worry, I can handle myself.”
Ramsey chuckled. “I know that much about you.”
Her fierce expression softened. She felt this warmth when she heard his laugh, this weird sense of safety along with it. Once again she tried to inspect these feelings, tracing them back to her friend, but there was something that kept her from connecting the dots. What was it?
“Maybe we should get Blanka out to one of our gigs, think he’d get a kick out of it?” Ramsey asked.
Sakura snapped out of her trance. “Huh? Oh, sure! I’ll talk to him about it.”
“You do that, he gets along with Hugo pretty well so-” He was interrupted by his phone ringing. Digging it out of his pocket, he seemed to recognize the caller. “Hey, what’s up?” An annoyed voice came from the speaker, to which he responded with shock. “Oh shit- I’m sorry, the time ran away from me. Look, I’ll be there in ten minutes max, okay? Alright.”
Ramsey leapt from the ground, rushing to put his t-shirt back on and grab his bag.
“Who was that?” There was a mix of curiosity and startelement in Sakura’s voice.
“It was Poison, I was supposed to be back at her place twenty minutes ago to go over management stuff with her.” He explained in a hurry. “Sorry to cut this short, but thanks for inviting me anyway! I’ll see you later!”
With that, he bounded out the door, hardly giving her time to say goodbye. She didn’t dwell on it though, as she was too consumed in her own thoughts. Rising from the floor, she stretched her muscles as she went to leave the training room. Next to the main dojo was a hallway, and adjacent to it was a smaller break room of sorts. She took a water bottle from the fridge, taking generous swigs. Sighing as she finished, she approached a couch on the other side of the room, and plopped down.
Once again, her thoughts were fixated on Ramsey. The butterflies in her stomach, the joy and giddiness she felt towards him, it was amazing and overwhelming.
But why?
She smushed her hands onto her face, groaning with frustration. This want to be near him, it was alien to her. A few more moments passed, only this newfound feeling for company.
Then, she opened her eyes. A realization came upon her.
Sakura sat up, staring forward with clarity. Suddenly, she reached for her phone, opening her Instagram app. She pulled up his profile, tapping on his most recent photo. It was a selfie, the Los Angeles skyline in the background. He held up a peace sign with a grin, the caption reading “Overlooking the city of lights”. The way the light cascaded along his features, his expression as confident yet lighthearted as ever. As she remained fixated on this photo, it finally became clear to her. Turning off her phone, she stared at nothing at particular, not able to run from this anymore. She went to speak, if only to herself, if only to make it real;
“I’ve got a crush on him.”

GN!MC forcing conquering the demons into Pacts
Quick tags for those some people who reblogged my other post pt 1, I know I have a lot more but these are the only ones with comments on the post. @chalcedear @undertaker-02 @the-mexican-writer @mammonkinnie
Lucifer
You had spent countless hours against Lucifer, trying to fight him and force him into a pact. No matter what you did, it seemed like you failed.
It took you a long time to realize, but you had to train to beat Lucifer. And that you did. You knew how terrifying his power was as all the demons told you, so for a week straight you intensely trained until you were ready.
Lucifer was already on edge noticing you didn’t try anything, but he knew you wouldn’t give up, which was when you decided to strike.
He easily dodged your initial flying kick when he entered the room, but you grabbed onto the door and swung back around, kicking the tip of his head before he backed off.
He was now ready to dodge, believing that tour strategy was only to catch him off guard, but he was wrong.
When you landed, you dug your foot into the ground and threw yourself at him, but as he moved to the right, you used the shelf behind him to catch yourself and kick off it and nailed a kick straight to his head.
It was now or never as you began throwing heavy punches, trying to get him into a chokehold while he was prying you off, struggling a little as you bit onto his fingers or wings. You even bit onto his horn to stabilize yourself and kept punching.
By the end of it, you had quite a few bruises from his harsh grip, but he had a black eye and his feathers were all over the floor, you’ve won.
He probably could of killed you, but he didn’t want that, so he accepted his loss, glaring at you when you dug your heel into his stomach as Satan clapped and Belphie got out a trophy to hand you.
His pact was now your’s and you were going to flaunt it. He’s alright with the fact it was you who forced him into a pact, but it majorly hurt his ego that you were superior to him.
Mammon
You had recently arrived in the devildom half an hour ago and did not feel welcomed, in the slightest.
You tried to be nice to your guide, but he brushed you off and left you with Levi, or he intended to.
Levi gasped as he watched you tackle Mammon who tried to run off, and elbow him in the jaw. When he fell to the ground you kicked the life out of him muttering out “I tried to be nice to you fucker, if one of us is killed today it’s you.”
Levi was obviously bewildered, but took the chance to tell you to make a pact with him, his biggest mistake in his lifetime, all the poor demons in the future.
Mammon was crying a little as you forced him into a pact, and pulled him up with one hand, making him face Levi himself.
Mammon is 100% nicer to you because you’re scarier than Lucifer, and also because you genuinely treat him with respect now that he’s nice to you, something he’s not used to. Super happy to be the first ever demon you’ve conquered.
Leviathan
You had decided to do things the non violent way and participate in the TSL quiz, until Levi turned into his demon form and tried to kill you.
Taking up his challenge, you fearlessly walked towards him as Mammon was trying to tell you no, and you caught his punch.
It pushed you back a little bit, but you caught it and twisted his arm, and proceeded to beat him up in a one sided battle.
It’s not that he was weak, or others were helping you, but you genuinely managed to fight back and beat him so hard that it looked like his entire left arm was broken.
Lucifer was kinda pissed you broke his brother ngl;; but Diavolo is like it’s self defense?? And Lucifer is just like what human fights a demon across the room in self defense.
When Levi is begging for mercy he is reminded of what happened to Mammon and the rumors, accepting defeat, you make a pact mark with him, he’s kinda pissed though, like highkey.
He thinks that you probably think of him as a trophy or something to collect, based off the rumors. You probably don’t want to have a pact mark with an otaku, you just want to show off your strength.
He soon changes his attitude towards you when you show interest in him. You’re just genuinely a nice person and a caring older sibling figure, but will fight for the sake of peace and safety.
Now he’s just jealous that you spend more time with Luke than anyone else.
Satan
He offered you a pact mark easily because he wanted to piss off Lucifer, especially when you tried to give him a black eye from the pillow fight.
Very angry and disappointed when you said no, but then surprised when you said you’d beat the shit out of him instead, fair and square.
He knew you fought well, but are you sure you want to fight the embodiment of wrath himself? And you’re just like yep, the small tiny you, so confident.
He didn’t take it too seriously despite seeing the actual proof multiple times, and he watched you used his messy room to your advantage, even using the bookshelves to help you get air.
His ass was easily kicked even when he was serious. “You know, after facing both Levi and Beel, you aren’t much of a challenge.” You casually said as you formed a pact mark with him.
Slightly irked by the comment but delighted to be apart of your fan club, probably yells “BEAT THEIR ASS!” On the sidelines.
Pisses Lucifer off whenever you two fight and Lucifer gets an injury from you, and asks if Lucifer ever wants ice, just to be a dick.
Diavolo and Satan are in the fan club which PISSES Lucifer off when the two are in front of him discussing how you will one day (undoubtedly) beat Diavolo.
Asmodeous
You made a pact with Asmo after accidentally beating him up, he was begging for mercy and you kind of felt bad.
You insisted it wasn’t on purpose and he kind of avoids you for awhile after the pact mark. He’s glad Solomon isn’t like you, otherwise the devildom would cease to exist.
He’s eventually fine with you, and loves to take photos of you and Luke together acting like siblings because it’s the cutest thing. Although demons are scared of you they do kinda admire you, and seeing you soft with Luke is good for his devilgram.
Soon treats you like a friend instead of a monster that just so happened to kick his ass and make him beg.
You’re so tiny that it’s kinda cute and he nearly forgets someone like you is violent and scary so when he took you shopping and someone shoplifted, he was concerned for your nails after you disfigured them.
Will 10/10 treat your tense muscles and let you soak in his tub.
Beelzebub
He’s seen you fight before but damn he couldn’t believe it. You’re just so smol?? Couldn’t he crush you?
Lesson learned as he was knocked out after he broke your room. You didn’t want to hurt Besl since he was always courteous with you, so you knocked him out quickly.
He doesn’t remember more than you launching at him and the feel of his wings being tugged and his neck suddenly throbbing.
Mammon who watched beg for Beel’s life on his knees, asking you to spare him. You just nodded and waited for Beel to wake up before making a pact.
When he makes one, you give him some custard you asked Mammon to go out and buy really quick, you said please, and Beel is just so happy!!
He tried to kill you and he feels so bad but you’re just so kind!! Wants to protect you so bad but knows you’re just so badass so he instead helps you care for Luke.
Belphegor
You’d definitely be lying if you said you didn’t see it coming. His brothers had already tried to kill you, he was locked in an attic, and not to mention he gave you a weird vibe, you would of left him alone if you weren’t a nice person.
He tells you thank you for freedom and transforms, ready to kill you. No one got in his way and instead said “good luck Belphie” or “Nice knowing you” so he thought they wanted you dead.
Then he hears Beel say “I don’t want you to die, Belphie” and he is so confused? As he aimed his attack and you just end up punching him square in the face.
Afterwards, you kicked him in the stomach and grabbed his tail, swinging him into a wall, and knocking him over and over and over.
He is out cold, so when he wakes up and sees everyone congratulating him on surviving, he puts two and two together.
You were sitting on top of him and demanding a pact mark, and he unwillingly gives it to you after you nearly rip out his horn.
Pissed off and scared of you, slightly, but more impressed by the fact that even Lucifer struggles with you. When he finds out about the sheer amount of pact marks you have he’s starting to wonder when humans got so strong? And it became an endless spiral of him being pissed off.
Don’t worry though!! He eventually gets used to you.
Diavolo
Super happy it was finally his turn!! Like you did it, congrats, wants it you’d like some tea and what kind of attire to wear for his asskicking.
Is absolutely not looking down on you, he genuinely believes you’re strong. Because of that, he’s just so excited to face you. You beat both Lucifer and Barbatos, the majority of RAD, and you’re such a cool person!!
When you approach him you looked so badass. “Aye, prince of kiss my ass, I’m here to claim you once and for all and become the new ruler of this place.” You yelled out as you kicked down the door to his office.
The first time you two fought, he won. You had a lot of bruises, but managed to rip out some of his hair, at least. He finds it admirable how you still kept going despite him clearly hearing a rib break.
SUPER excited to tell Satan about it!! Hopes Barbatos recorded the fight so he could broadcast it at RAD during an announcement or something, but Barbatos rejected that idea.
Poor Diavolo only wanted to be included in this ass beating trend, but super happy when you return three days later and try to beat him up again, you even changed up the way you fight!!
You won’t ever know this, but one day he purposely changed his office’s layout to benefit your fighting style more, so when you finally beat him he was so ecstatic, his lips were bleeding but he was laughing, congratulating you and couldn’t wait to give you a pact.
Oh boy was he SO happy when you flaunted it, and sat in his desk chair with a hand on your chin, giving an order to Barbatos who recorded it, acting as if you really were the ruler of the devildom.
“Could you get some bandages for your former ruler, please?” You asked, feeling accomplished that Luke was officially safe during his stay in the devildom, and Diavolo was just swooning.
The public is 10/10 avoiding you because they are SCARED for their life. The people are convinced you’re like a nuclear weapon against demons.
Barbatos
He knew one day you’d defeat Lucifer, but it was so quick. You only needed a week of prep time?
Steps up his game a bit, because after two weeks of training you approach him ready to fight, and he can sense you’re not the same.
As he uses his tail to put you out of the room, he automatically feels your sharp teeth digging into his tail. He can withstand it no problem, until you literally rip a bit of his tail chunk out.
You didn’t let go even as he flung you off his tail, and you even dug your nails in. He showed no expression, but it was genuinely painful as you climbed his tail onto him, his tail no longer as useful because he was very sure you would rip through it.
His fighting against you one on one went well for him, he could see and easily predict your moves easily, until you head butted him and began every trick in the book.
From kicking, punching, biting, scratching, you name it, you did it. He was finally at your mercy when you were cover in both your own and his blood, while he was sure his tail was missing some pieces, and you were absolutely not letting go.
He’s 100% convinced you’ve gone feral in a span of three weeks, but that’s okay. The only thing stopping you from fighting the prince was now defeated, and he apologised to Diavolo frequently, who was only super excited in return.
Don’t worry you apologised for his tail and helped him with his job for awhile, totally not to also study Diavolo in his natural habitat.
First time you’ve ever seen him smile so soft was when he got his ass kicked so hard by you that his tail went chomp chomp.
Luke
Surprised pikachu face.
He understands you beating up Mammon,, and maybe some lesser demons,, but did you REALLY defeat Lucifer, Barbatos, and Diavolo.
Surprised pikachu face as you shrug and say “yeah I guess. I’m the ruler now, do you feel safe yet?”
Lucifer yells out you’re not the ruler just because you formed a pact with Diavolo, but you ignored him and smile at Luke, patting his head.
Luke is just nodding like “I’m safe!!!” While in his head he’s like WOW whaT PLEASE EXPLAIN.
Luke constantly calls you his older sibling now, tells daddy Simeon ALL about it, and brags about you to the demons who even look at him.
Praise this precious baby as he makes you all the sweets in the world. You’ve literally defeated demons of all sorts, even the most powerful, and all you want is to see him smile.
Will probably cry.

Fish Upon the Sky Episode 1-7 (The Problems with Walls; An analysis on Duen and Pi)
Tumblr media
I swear, if I could just settle down, stop running away and actually analyse FUTS the way I usually do. I would have so many essays by now on how authentic and deep this show can get with some of its characterisations. As I  write this FUTS essay that has constantly been plaguing me and making me frustrated that no one else is seeing these themes, I realise again sadly how this director has sadly failed to show the vision of what he wanted for the series.  An essay on how DuenMeen and MorkPi mirror each other so much with their themes, it sounds crazy to think that they do because their storylines on the surface seem different at times. Still, also their love interests act differently towards them, and they have different dynamics with them. But that's what's so great about meta and mirroring in TV, especially in shows that aren't meant to be seen as deep or purposely filled with hints and clues to break down. Fish upon the Sky is one of those shows. It struggles to find a balance between wanting to be more profound and showing exciting themes vs pleasing and appealing to the audience, using humour and other exaggerated performances/narratives to do so. However, the writer of Fish upon the sky novel has always had her works struggle with these issues and themes. Jittirain always writes emotional stories about unrequited love, with different lessons, ideas, or characterisations that people fail to understand or truly value because the meta/depth of their personalities is hidden or misunderstood by their own directors. This is what happened in  2gether; this is what also happened in Theory of Love.
Tumblr media
A Misunderstood Duo
In order to really understand how grand the narrative the show is failing to truly flesh out is, you need to understand that Pi and Duen (the two main characters of the show) are the narrators of both their own stories. Pi's is Fish upon the sky whilst Duen is Leech upon the sky (😂😂) but what's great is that you can already see the mirroring/similarities just by their titles. Even though their insecurities and worries seem different, it's the same theme for them;  both struggle with love because they secretly have a lot of self-deprecation and hesitancy from how people have treated them. It's not as noticeable when you see Duen's characterisation/storyline, but if you truly focus on the themes of his narrative without being distracted by the loud comedic routine he has, you'd see that his biggest insecurity, that he tries to be defensive and act like he doesn't care about is his dumbness. He genuinely feels weaker/inferior because he's known as being dumb to everyone around him. He struggles to process anything that is complex and requires more depth or thought.  It's played for laughs because he relishes in the idea that people feel exasperated by his actions. He acts like he doesn't get bothered by how people perceive him because he's still seen as socially acceptable, unlike Pi, who's actually bullied and alienated from society because of his own 'flaws'.
But you can see that it's all a façade when it comes to Duen, just like with how Pi handles his own insecurities and trauma to do with his perceived flaws. It's why Duen chooses to lie to Meen that he's a dentist. He didn't want him to see him the same way others do. This already should show that he doesn't actually enjoy being seen as dumb, but he has walls up to make it seem like he doesn't care. He knows he's constantly being compared to others, but he can't change who he is (just like Pi didn't also want to change how he looked or acted to please people at first). So he jokes and tries to see a positive in being that way; he starts to want to slack off and cheat off others when it comes to work. He stops taking University seriously and repeats classes constantly because he always fails. That is until Meen shows up, and then he starts to want Meen to believe he's something more. Why?
But in case I haven't repeated it enough, Duen is like Pi, whose insecurity is easier to see since we watched him get attacked and bullied for it immediately in the first episode. It's Pi's true thoughts and opinions we see in the show as the audience, whilst Duen's story is hidden with comic relief and unseriousness. They both try to act like they're okay with what they are being judged by in society. Thus, they act confident, they're both loud, they're selfish, acting like they don't care how people see them. Preventing others from getting to hurt them by making it look like they are in control of what they have and use that to their own advantage with others.
They both stay heavily in denial about their true feelings in general, but primarily with the critical focus; the people who make them question everything about their flaws that come into their life and frighten them the most. The ones that break down those facades; make them automatically want to run away whilst being unable to stop showing and escaping their true feelings whenever they're in their presence.
Tumblr media
The Use of Humour and Sarcasm
So what we end up with is a narrative with two incredibly annoying and flawed characters who are seen in the audience as exaggerated caricatures for comic relief and shallow storytelling. And it's brilliant because both their unlikable/loud, selfish personalities are just fake walls built, so they don't crumble and get affected by how society views them or wants them to act. So you see, there's the issue that people keep misunderstanding about these two stories, especially about these two brothers. They're realistic; they're flawed because they've been affected by society and the environment around them. They're acting like how anyone who's been hurt before would act, they have built up walls, and they've decided to just stay by themselves and let that guide them in everything. They deal with their issues with sarcasm and humour to reduce the seriousness of the situation, so they don't appear weak or let anything hurt them.
That's why I love this narrative of FUTS, it's meta and more profound than people think, but because the director doesn't do the best to show it, it can get lost in all the exaggerated humour. For example, with Pi, because he's socially anxious and always overthinks how people think of him (due to his past experiences of being abused and hurt by being ignorant of how people thought of him), his world is wildly exaggerated in his head. The way he narrates the story is played for laughs and is a very telling and realistic representation of how overthinking is expressed in his mind; it's overdone, loud and nonsensical at times. That's what social anxiety does; it makes you cry about one stare, one laugh, one action someone does, it makes you panic over the most minor things, and Pi does that with panic and boisterous, sarcastic humour from the start of the show.
Hence his story also has exaggerated humour because he deals with his issues with that fake jokes and sarcasm. So the show also exaggerated humour too when we are in his perspective.  This is actually similar to Duen's breaking the 4th wall narrative style of his storyline. As with Duen, whose narrator of his story mocks and laughs at his actions ironically. When really that is just literally himself fighting with his inner voice about his true feelings about Meen. He breaks the 4th wall because he's internalising his own emotions and dealing with them as a skit; the narrator is his true self ridiculing him for not accepting that he has feelings for Meen and that he's not as bright/cool as he thinks he is. So if we understand this and notice that the narrator makes fun of him constantly and jokes about his actions, you'll realise that Duen sees himself that way too; he sees himself as a joke. He doesn't see himself as suave and carefree; he actually mocks himself internally for being dumb and being gross.
Tumblr media
Pi: The Need for Protection and Avoidance
So already, just from breaking it down with this point of view, Duen and Pi mirror each other so well, and their narratives because of this focus on the same themes and ideas of self-discovery. Both are flawed characters with a lot of vulnerabilities and pain that they refuse to deal with properly. An id ego defence mechanism catalysed because of their past experiences and protection of their mental space. They both stay in denial, hurting who they love by refusing to let them get to see them without the walls down and more. Pi hates that he loses control with Mork and refuses to let Mork have his heart because he believes Mork is too good for someone like him secretly.  He knows he'll be the one damaged. Hence the choice to intentionally misinterpret his brother's metaphor on the vaccine analogy and view it as the complication with getting with Mork. Let me try and use this to break down his mindset with why he chose to still choose Nan even though he knows (he does know) that he wants to be with Mork romantically. Listen to the analogy his brother uses. He mentions the iatrogenic vaccine, a vaccine intended for a patient that starts helping the patient be well but actually causes more harm than good. The end result is because of the incompatibility of the vaccine and the time it takes for those results to show up in the patient and make their lives affected in a negative conclusion.
Tumblr media
A vaccine ironically is meant to be an antidote, something that saves people, that helps and makes them feel better. And that's what Mork says he wants to be for Pi, it's romantic, but once his brother announces a different version of a vaccine, Pi jumps with that analogy and believes that's the truth about Mork and him that makes sense to him, than seeing it positively. So with this analogy, we can break it down this way:
The Iatrogenic vaccine was too different and incompatible with the patient. Which is what Pi believes about Mork. Remember, Pi doesn't think  (because of what people have told him) that he deserves loyalty and love from people better looking/capable than him. He sees Mork in this light from the start; he views Mork as a rival because Mork is good looking, popular, strong and cool, basically things that are not associated with Pi to others.  So Mork and him are incompatible in Pi's mind.  This is why Pi constantly asks Mork why he wants to be close to him. He just doesn't understand it.
Second, the Iatrogenic vaccine starts off good but causes damages in an irreparable way to the patient. It's the patient that ends up being affected by this vaccine interaction, not the vaccine that caused it. Before Wan starts this vaccine conversation, he discusses how people around his hospital are patients primarily because of heartbreak; they come in with damaged mindsets, broken hearts and self-harming injuries because of being hurt by love and letting themselves be vulnerable to that. All Pi hears is people hurt themselves over the pain of heartbreak and being abandoned. That's the complication if he does finally trust Mork. Especially after Mork and him get to be close, it'd be just like with everyone who has gotten to know him in the past, who stayed by his side as 'friends', once they learnt about him, what they said is that he wasn't worth being loyal to. So many people used and deserted him, and it almost broke him. This is why Pi grow the walls he has now. Even though Pi is chasing after Nan, he's not expecting an answer from Nan that's positive; Nan is a fantasy, something he can use as a goal to want to keep chasing and distracting himself from that singleness and loneliness he felt at the start of the show. This is why he's doing all of this; he just wants a distraction from the mess of his life. But to Pi, Mork? Mork is real. He's serious; he's someone who Pi actually truly will be damaged by if he's hurt and left by him; he's someone who Pi truly loves and is real to Pi, it's terrifying, and so he rather just avoid that because of the risk of a complication. To be that patient tricked by the vaccine and left to deal with those consequences all alone? Yeh, no, he can't do that.  Pi sees him as a friend and doesn’t want to end that because that's the first thing in a while that has made him feel actually happy being himself and accepted. Being friends with Mork makes him feel safe. So again, it's selfish, but it’s all about him preserving what he already has with Mork rather than damaging it.
Tumblr media
Those complications are exactly that result if he lets Mork in romantically and Mork sees his true self and leaves like everyone; it’s not Mork who’d be hurt. It’s Pi who’d have nothing more to believe in if he lets himself be that vulnerable. Again Pi is thinking with his head when it comes to Mork; there’s a massive risk if someone takes the wrong vaccine, that person is damaged because of it. Pis journey with Mork is the same thought process that friends to lovers have. The fear of losing each other if they cross that line, of taking things too far and ruining the foundation they had that made them safe. The fear of the love being false as it always has been from others.  Pi thinks he likes Mork because how can he not? However, Mork is always there, making it hard for him to think. He associates Mork with niceness and protectiveness, but that doesn’t mean he has to accept him romantically, and Mork sees right through him and is fond of breaking down those walls he put so high up to ensure he doesn't get hurt again. Mork is the one pushing Pi further away from him the more he clings because Pi doesn’t like losing control. Same as Duen. And Mork doesn’t let him just figure it out without manipulating everything; the more he does that, the more Pi feels manipulated and tricked into wanting Mork as a partner, and that's too scary for Pi. This is why it’ll be massive when he finds out who Mork truly is on his phone as the guy from nearby faculty.
Tumblr media
Duen: The Need for Nonchalance and Ignorance
Duen is the inversion with his storyline; he tries to look cool and better to Meen,  refusing Meen to see him when he's worried, anxious or insecure because he himself shuts off those emotions whenever Meen triggers them. He doesn't want to face the truth, that he hates being seen as dumb and not being seen as a hero to Meen. He lies to Meen because he's trying to keep him by his side without actually letting him see his true self. After all, if he does, he also may judge or leave him too (guess what same as Pi's worries with Mork. Mirroring!).  Duen tries to act unaffected just like Pi does with Mork because again, they both know once they break down and give in, there's no turning back, they will be exposed, and the' truth' about them (which they believe and see about themselves) will push the people they truly want by their sides away.
So instead, they grapple for control by faking lack of care and feelings for their partner; they refuse to apologise quickly and refuse to give in easily to them to further their relationships, increase their trust and let them in. They refuse to let go of their fake personas and fake masks and walls they've built and try hard to hold onto the facade, which hurts Meen and Mork in the end. They both push and pull and show signs of vulnerability and romance only when they're alone with no one else around (like the tent scene with MeenDuen and the after school night scene with MorkPi outside). They show worry, devotion, and they show that they want them by their side. And these are the moments when we actually get to truly see who they are without their walls, their fake personas unshed, and their niceness, their care and protectiveness over them exposed.
Tumblr media
Wan: The Comparison and Norm
When we're first introduced to the show, Wan is mentioned almost immediately as we see Pi's struggles. Because of Wan's reputation, people choose to crowd around Pi, and it's sad, but I also think Duen also had this same issue, just a bit different. With Pi, it's about his outer appearance, his beauty standards vs society's. It's exposed to him he lacks those, but it's his intelligence similar to Wan that makes people stay by his side at first.  He also studies dentistry as Wan studied Medicine, viewed by societal standards as impressive and praiseworthy. Pi is used by people who want to both get to Wan and want to profit from his brain and abilities. Duen is the inverted version of this; he is seen as handsome and cool and aloof, a bit messy, but the reason why Meen first leaches onto him is his street smarts and survival skills with social interactions, he knows the right people, he is seen as cool by others including Pi, but he's also seen as dumb. He's failed repeatedly, unlike his brothers at trying to obtain a degree.  So he has the outer appearance but lacks the next valuable thing in society's opinion; brains and the ability to increase your status by your talents and skills. Duen lacks that; he doesn't have any specific things about himself that he can fully be proud of. He's not highly talented, he's not intelligent, and he's also not viewed by women as extremely attractive or awe-worthy. He nonchalantly takes on this persona; he chooses to block any worries about things being serious because he lacks the smarts to think of things deeply or ponder about life's questions.
Tumblr media
He's insecure, however, about this, and you see it when he tries to join in with Wan and Pi when they discuss vaccines and love. As Pi transforms for Nan, his lie is that he's well of without other people in his life like Mork; he pretends he's okay being seen as loud, not friendly, selfish etc.  Duen's own lie to Meen is that he is a version of Wan, of what people think Wan is; intelligent, put together and reliable. Because what Duen wants from Meen all the time (he doesn't realise he already has this devotion from Meen for just being himself when he's not trying) is for Meen to want to rely on him since that's precisely what Meen keeps telling him he likes about him, or wants to learn from him; street smarts etc. Duen likes being seen as a protector, a hero, a helper etc., to Meen. And that's why he stays adamant with his lie and refuses to let Meen truly see him below the surface.
Like Pi, he also doesn't want to admit what he knows and has fought to accept, which is, he loves Meen and wants him by his side. It's the fear of losing what he has with Meen that makes him do what he does, which is the same reason Pi also keeps rejecting Mork; it's the fear of losing him. And that's the ironic thing about Pi and Duen, they're ironically trying to preserve what they love, but because of scars, insecurities and walls, they're hurting the ones they love by just refusing to be their authentic selves. It's ironic because they think being themselves is the worst option. Yet, on the surface, they act like they're fine with who they are, they're loud about being carefree of what others think of them, they're okay if these two leave them, but in reality, their worst fears are admitting that they agree with what people see in them as flaws, that they also hate themselves for that. That's heartbreaking because they fought so hard to keep loving themselves, to keep believing in their worth, but society made them genuinely think that they're wrong. And it's painful but realistic.
Tumblr media
Again they're all similar and mirror each other. I just want people to understand that FUTS is a deep show; I know the director doesn't do the best job with what he's been trying to show, but it is deep; there is thought at times put to it in the profound moments. In the moments where both Pi and Duen aren't being fake and are their true selves, you'll notice that the jokes and humour slowly reduce whenever they are true; the narrator also reduces for Duen because he doesn't struggle as much with his feelings for Meen like he did at the first time. All the stuff that happens in the show is on purpose, even if done messily and poorly. People love to hate on the show. It has a lot of flaws, I know, but it's not the worst thing; it has deep characters that are incredibly flawed and hurt (even Mork, who we still hope will get to understand his story) it has people that act one way on the surface but hold deep scars and pains below whilst wearing a mask. The characters are unlikable because they are realistic to how people with self-sabotaging habits and deprecation act. That's why I like this show. And I'm sad I wasn't writing out more all about the meta and moments I've enjoyed so far. Anyway, I'm grateful this show has been shown this year; it definitely made me ponder my own ideas about how I view myself and if I have walls up around the people I love. I think many people do relate to Pi or Duen somehow, and it's unfortunate that the director doesn't help us feel the same way about the narrative when it's actually a great BL story to unravel and watch.

Babysitter (pt 10)
Tumblr media
Pt 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9
Summary: You and Tony have a discussion as Hela and Loki sneak around.
Characters: Hela x fem!reader, Loki, Tony, Steve, Rhodey
Word Count: 1,813
Warnings: nothing? feels!
The New Avengers Facility was by far the most luxurious hideout you'd ever encountered. It was also incredibly large and perfect for aimless exploring.
The Avengers, though concerned for you once you arrived, quickly lost focus of you as they began flitting about their machines and computers to see what the hell was happening around the world.
You were given your own room, fully furnished with a well-stocked mini fridge. There was a camera situated outside by the door, so they’d know if you went in or out.
Normally you would’ve protested the house arrest, but you couldn’t be bothered suddenly. You were numb.
The Facility was massive. It varied from small cozy lounge areas to large open spaces for training, meetings, and all sorts of experimental engineering.
You were curled up in one of the tinier corners on a brown leather sofa. The rest of the place just seemed so pristine and neat and horrifically modern, no offense to Tony’s design tastes. There was a digital fireplace and heater, yet the 3D projection of the actual fire made it seem real. Only thing missing was the smell of burning wood.
“Thought you’d have run off by now,” grunted a voice behind you. Tony had come into the lounge. You kept looking at the fire.
“I have no where else to go, Tony,” you said bluntly. Over the past few days you’d been reading up more and more from the news, contacting people you hadn’t talked to in ages. There were a few distant friends and relatives who’d been taken by the Blip, and your heart ached at the ones you hadn’t been able to see one last time.
“Besides,” you sighed, breaking your gaze from the fire as Tony came to sit across from you, “none of you would have let me leave even if I really tried.”
He leaned back, stretching his body nonchalantly, and you noticed how weary  and thin he actually looked. Dark circles under his eyes, and his fingers seemed to be twitching or twiddling consistently.
“What happened to you?” you muttered. “Why do you look like shit?”
“Oh, you know,” he said, waving his hand, “spent some merry time in space, that’s all. Wasn't planning on being stranded there, but here we are.”
You didn’t ask anything else. Instead you got up, walked to the near sink and pulled out a kettle from the cupboards to make yourself some tea.
“Okay, let me ask you a question,” Tony said in the silence, twisting in his seat to watch you, resting his head on the back of the sofa. “How on earth did you end up falling head over heels for a psycho?”
You snorted, grabbing a teabag and a mug, “you could ask Pepper the same thing.”
Tony clutched his chest in mock offence, “Ouch. Cold-hearted.”
Grinning, you steeped your tea, and turned around to look at Tony, “it’s not that simple, Stark.”
“No, I think it is,” he said.
“Well fine,” you sighed, slightly exasperated, “she was in my house with me alone, for days. At some point we ended up talking and actually getting to know each other. She opened up to me, and I to her and.. that was it.”
“And how do you know she wasn’t lying to get a way out?”
“She wasn’t. She’d never.”
“But how do you know? Wasn’t it you who always thought you had to give things time? She’s lived for thousands of years, Y/N. You’re a fruit-fly compared to her.”
“Why has this turned into an interrogation?” you snapped. He held up his hands,
“I’m not interrogating. Just trying to understand.”
“Why did Jane fall in love with Thor, huh? At the time he was a ridiculous, self-absorbed and mindless God who didn’t know how the hell this world worked. Why did Pepper fall in love with you? A narcissistic millionaire playboy who loves to play games and doesn’t take anything seriously?”
You paced the floor as your tea cooled down, fuming,
“Why the hell does anyone fall in love with anyone, huh? Who gets a fucking say in how they feel? And why do you guys have so little faith in me to trust what I feel? I’ve kept secrets for you, I’ve hidden you in my home, I’ve been a part of so much secrecy, and suddenly when I get a little heart-eyed at someone, you act as if I’ve been brainwashed.”
Tony didn’t say anything for a moment. When you met his eyes, they were a little wider than before, looking at you questioningly.
“In love, huh?”
You blinked.
“I didn’t say that.”
“Uh-huh, you did.”
“N-no, I didn’t, I said I-”
Your face became red, fumbling over your words.
Tony got up from his seat and clapped his hands as he sauntered over to the exit.
“Let’s go sparring, hm? Haven’t done that in a while,” he offered. You tried to cool your cheeks, forgetting about your tea steeping behind you.
“That’s cause I always lose,” you retorted. “You guys work out like your life depends on it. Which... it does.. I guess.”
“Yeah, but look at the state of me,” Tony spread out his arms and did a spin. “I’m feeling like trash. You’ll take me down no problem.”
You doubted that, but followed him anyways.
-
“Ah, fuck!” Hela swore as another branch tugged at her helmet.
“Will you shut up?” Loki hissed, crouching down and peeking through the trees. “God, you’re even more infuriating than Thor!”
Hela was breathing heavily, aching, grumpy.
“You really are a pain when you’re not around Y/N, aren’t you? You’re not going to massacre all the Avengers just because you’re peeved, right?”
“Be silent, filth,” she spat. Her brother only rolled his eyes. “What do you see?”
“I thought you wanted me to be silent.”
Hela whacked the back of his head and he grimaced,
“Alright, alright. Look yourself, it’ll be hard to get in undetected.”
Hela peered over his shoulder. He was right; there wasn’t a lot of hiding spaces or shadows. Well-lit with open spaces, the modern-style building looked quite distasteful to Hela. She pulled a face, both in annoyance and disgust,
Loki chuckled, “I’m glad you hate it too.”
“Shut up,” Hela hissed, before scurrying off further into the trees to explore the perimeter.
“Where are you- Hela!” Loki whispered hoarsely, hurrying after her.
She was looking for weak spots, places with no cameras, a spot to sneak in. But she also had no idea where you were, and with the vastness of the buildings she worried if she’d even find you on time.
“Hela,” Loki hissed. She shushed him again, eyes searching the upper floors.
“Hela!”
“What?”
“Look,” Loki pointed downwards. A little further in the distance outside, surrounded by well lit lights, stood you and that iron-armoured man, both with wooden sticks in your hands, the length of a short blade, thick enough to wrap your whole hand around it.
“Come on, let’s go back, before they see us,” Loki hissed, grabbing Hela’s shoulder. “At least we know she’s here.”
But Hela couldn’t move. You were wearing dark grey sweatpants and a zip-up hoodie, and sturdy boots. You looked tired, but were a vision to her. The man with you wasn’t wearing his armour, and suddenly looked a lot less threatening.
Loki watched, amazed, as his sister’s armour shimmered. The horns disappeared from her head and her cape faded until she was only in black, blending into the darkness.
She dared another step closer.
“Widen your stance,” the man said, waving the stick around. “Now try to attack.”
Hela watched you practice, your grip a bit clumsy and your stance a bit wobbly, but you were determined. She recalled the day she pulled a fork on you as a weapon, and winced a bit at the memory of the fearful, defenceless look in your eyes.
“Like that?” she heard you say, bending your knees and lowering your core.
“Good, but stay light on your feet, otherwise you can’t dodge.”
Your voice was like music to her ears, and hot tears prickled at her eyes. She missed you. So much.
“Stark, what the hell are you trying to do?” two more men had appeared. One blonde, and large, wearing a tight shirt and jeans. The other, dark, dressed in similar casual clothes.
“Gentlemen! Welcome to this exclusive defence lesson.”
“You’re by far the worst defence teacher out of all of us, Stark. Y/N won’t learn shit from you.”
“You wound me, Captain.”
Hela watched you shake hands with the other.
“Oh, Y/N, this is our friend Rhodey, also known as the War Machine.”
“Pleased to meet you, despite the.. unideal circumstances,” the newcomer shook your hand respectfully and flashed a smile. Hela flared with jealousy, and subconsciously bared her teeth.
“Easy,” Loki whispered.
The four of you paired up, you against Tony, but watching Captain’s instructions as he sparred with Rhodey.
You were not held under lock and key, and Hela worried a moment. Did you go willingly with them after all? Did you forget about her? Was it foolish to even attempt a rescue?
Your laugh rang into the night as Rhodey tackled a distracted Steve, and both dread and joy filled Hela’s heart.
“Okay, try again,” Tony encouraged you. You swung at him a few times as he blocked and dodged.
Then, you saw her in the darkness. A flash of green eyes, and Tony took your distraction to his advantage, swiping your leg from under you and you fell to the ground with a thud.
Hela nearly shot out of the tree line to protect you if Loki hadn’t stopped her. Then she heard a groan and chuckle coming from you,
“I told you I’d lose.”
“Don’t get distracted then, kiddo.” Tony held out his hand and hoisted you up. Hela growled at the camaraderie and slunk back in the shadows. “What were you looking at?”
He began to turn to follow your eyeline, and you paled,
“N-nothing! I- I was daydreaming.” He looked back at you.
“Not a good idea to daydream while fighting, Y/N,” Steve said.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right. I’m not used to this, you know?”
“It’s about time you were taught,” Tony clapped your shoulder.
“You want to learn anything from the War Machine himself?” Steve asked, nodding at Rhodey.
“Oh, I-I’d love to. But, maybe tomorrow?” you suggested, desperately trying to avoid looking at Hela in the distance. “I’m quite.. tired.”
The men seemed to agree and chatted as they headed back into the building. Tony swiped at Steve as they walked, who promptly tugged the sparring stick from him.
You hurriedly looked around into the darkness, wanting to see another glimpse, hoping you didn’t imagine it. But when you couldn’t see anything out of the ordinary, you worried if you really had gone insane.
Steve called after you, and your heavy feet carried you back inside to settle for the rest of the night.
A/N: Life is fucking INSANE. only a few chapters left for this!! Don’t ask me about the timeline alterations because me trying to make sense of the canon and trying to make it all fit is making my brain explode!! I hope you like it, love you all!!! Stay safeee

Diluc v. Childe: Who Would Win in a fight, Husbando Edition?
I have THOUGHTS about what a fight between these two would look like, and because I have a Tumblr to scream into the void with, here! Have a fighting style analysis, because this is really and truly my favorite thing to do and I haven’t done it since last summer.
To make things fair, I’m not going to consider Childe’s Foul Legacy transformation until the end. I am, however, considering lore, gameplay, and cutscenes. Please note that I have not read the manga and am excluding it from this analysis.
Weapon Type
Right, so if you weren’t aware, Diluc has a claymore. Generally, this weapon is slower than any of the other weapon types, but it also deals the most damage per hit.
Childe is, first and foremost, a bow user--but his bow can turn into a polearm and daggers when he enters his melee stance. Childe himself states that he is fairly weak when using a bow, and I suspect his melee stance is his way of compensating. Do you know how bad this man is with a bow? He’s so bad with a bow that his last attack animation in his normal sequence is him throwing an arrow. Regardless, this means that Childe has two advantages on Diluc from weapon type alone.
Firstly--Diluc is a close range fighter. He cannot do any damage if Childe is out of his range, while Childe has the luxury of picking Diluc apart from a distance as long as he keeps backing up.
Secondly--Childe also has melee capabilities. If he were only a bow user, there’s the chance that Diluc would manage to catch him in melee range and then Childe would get flattened. However, his polearm and dagger melee stance is uniquely suited against Diluc’s large, unwieldy broadsword, by sheer virtue of being faster.
If you watch Childe’s attack animations in his melee stance, he’s incredibly fast and the dual-wielded daggers mean he essentially has a multiattack with each strike. Diluc would have an immensely difficult time fighting Childe, if only because Childe’s melee stance is quick enough that he can finesse his way under Diluc’s guard.
His polearm stance, as well, gives him about as much reach as Diluc’s claymore does. So Diluc doesn’t even have the advantage of a large reach in order to prevent Childe from cutting in close with his daggers, mainly because Childe has that polearm capability. That leads us to my next point.
Fighting Style
I watched their normal attack animations several times for this bit--at normal speed and slowed down to properly get a feel for the way they fight.
Diluc is flashy. His style involves twists and flourishes and frequent one-handed attacks despite being a two-handed sword user. It looks fucking dope, but as a side effect, Diluc leaves his torso open more often than not. At once point in his auto attack sequence, he even turns his back to his opponent in order to deliver a devastating swing.
But Diluc is almost always overextending--an issue seen in literally all of the claymore users with the notable exception of Chongyun. His sword is really heavy, so to compensate, he’s almost always reaching. Off balance, and it leaves him open. Now, his balance issue isn’t as egregious as Razor’s, but it’s still there.
I will say this about Diluc. He hits hard, and his charged normal attack is fairly fast for a claymore and more versatile than many of the other charged claymore autos. But it doesn’t matter how hard he can hit or how much damage he can do if he can’t connect.
Looking into Childe’s style, inherent ridiculousness of lobbing an arrow at a person aside, he’s much more balanced. His melee stance has him facing forward, typically balanced but with moments where his center of gravity is over his feed instead of centered. He and Diluc both have an overextension problem, but because Childe’s weapon means he’s already faster, it’s less of an issue for him.
There are enough openings in Diluc’s fighting style, at least from what I could tell from his autos, that Childe could take advantage of it with his daggers. For Diluc to win, he’d need to end the fight quickly, and on his terms. He can’t beat Childe in his ranged stance--that’s not going to work, because, well, claymore. So, it’d have to be with Childe in his melee stance. And Diluc is still at a disadvantage, as I just discussed.
Element
Now, let’s talk elements, which is fairly straightforward. Diluc’s skill is essentially him setting fire to his sword. Useful, and dealing high damage. His burst is his only ranged attack, generating a massive flaming bird.
Childe’s is his melee stance, where his weapons are made out of water. His burst is a hydro aoe.
The in-game elemental reaction here is vaporize--a reaction that favors hydro. It deals more damage if a hydro attack caused the reaction. Childe, therefore, has a leg up here in counteracting Diluc’s elemental skills and bursts.
Background
Background-wise, I think this category is up in the air. Diluc was trained with the Knights, and was a Cavalry Captain from a young age. This suggests a high degree of skill and work ethic. Diluc ended up traveling for a while, presumably still training, and he now moonlights as a vigilante. I would not accuse Diluc of being unskilled or out of practice.
However.
Childe is one of Snezhnaya’s foremost soldiers. His job is to fight people, and it’s been a long time since Diluc was a knight and in the same position. Childe needs to stay sharp in order to finish jobs and because he’s got almost the entirety of the Fatui’s eyes on him. Childe was also one of the youngest Harbingers, trained in the Abyss for three months by a master swordswoman who allegedly taught him “heretical” skills that made him a better fighter.
I can’t really weigh these two experiences against each other, but I think their different backgrounds do matter in a fighting comparison.
Emotional Temperament
Ah, the most difficult part of this analysis. Emotional stakes are near-impossible to weigh without context, and fights always occur with context. And emotional stakes are incredibly important. They determine the effort a fighter puts in, what they’re willing to sacrifice to win, and even their strategy during the fight. A desperate fighter will do more to win, for example.
Going off of their personalities in general, Diluc keeps his cool during fights. He’s calculating. A strategist. Someone who gathers intel before jumping into the arena. This gives him an edge on Childe.
Why?
Because Childe’s a loose canon who jumps into fights without doing research beforehand or gauging his opponent. He just likes fighting, while Diluc’s motivation is protecting Mondstadt. Diluc typically would have more to fight for.
However, Diluc also has emotional buttons. My personal thought is that if Childe knew how to piss Diluc off--possibly by mentioning his father and making this conflict personal by using a Delusion--he might even the playing field. Childe doesn’t get angry during fights, while Diluc is known to have gotten angry on at least one occasion (Diluc v. Kaeya when Kaeya got his Vision).
And anger, as a general rule, makes fighters sloppy. Considering how Diluc’s style borders on careless with his movements and energy, this isn’t something he can afford.
Remember how I mentioned Diluc would need to end the fight quickly? Right, so I sincerely doubt that Childe would let him. He likes fighting almost as much as victory. A quick fight wouldn’t satisfy his bloodlust--he’d draw it out, probably goad Diluc (see his goading of Traveler in his boss fight).
I was going to mention arrogance, but honestly? These two guys are both so confident in themselves and their abilities that they cancel each other out.
Foul Legacy
Foul Legacy is...annoying. It’s a truly massive buff.
It gives Childe another element, makes him inhumanly fast and strong, and probably increases his durability, judging off the armor. The only downside is the toll it takes on his body. I don’t think he’d use it unless Diluc truly injured him--and I doubt it would get to that point. But! If he did.
I don’t want to say he’d flatten Diluc right off the bat. But that cutscene with the robots in his story quest? He blitzed them. Three robots in under ten seconds, which is absolutely nuts. And Diluc’s biggest weakness is that he’s slower. Making Childe that much faster? The odds don’t look good.
So, tl;dr, Childe would probably win a fight between himself and Diluc. Feel free to disagree, this is just my opinion and I only wrote it because I adore fight scenes.
We’ll be back to our irregularly scheduled Bungou content tomorrow :D

Thoughts on Young blood Old souls. (SPOILER WARNING (Duh))
Ok I would say its a decently satisfying ending to season 1
To start off
- there’s gonna be more theories on who wrote the Unauthorized history books of the boiling isles. The authors name is scratched out so looks like we’re gonna have a gravity falls style mystery about the author. (I think it’s Azura/Camilia before she escaped to the human realm)
- I loved the cape Eda made for Luz and that little note she left behind was so adorable. She really did care about Luz like any proud parent would.
- So we know Wild witches get a “witch trial” style execution called “petrification” where they turn into a statue. Burning at the stake would be more fitting but after Hunchback of Norte dame Disney can’t let that style of execution take place so I guess they had to go with something less traumatizing.
- While I do enjoy the sisterly moments between Eda & Lilith, when they stuck their tongue out, it felt odd. I know sisters always make fun of each other & I’m like that with my sisters but the seriousness in the episode just didn’t match with the silly tone.
- As usual, we all saw this coming, Belos lied. Of course he did. I guess he knew he couldn’t control Eda even if he healed her so killing her was the best choice but I don’t think lying to her guilt tripped sister was the best call. Like my dude you just lost a loyal follower. If you want to keep your army strong then don’t lie to them. Honesty is key as we always say.
- Speaking of keys, Belos needs the portal to the human realm. But what would he want with that world? He said he isn’t looking to invade it. So it’s not that he wants something there, he might be looking for someone. Like idk someone important who escaped to the human realm. Cough cough Azura!
- Now I’m curious to how Eda got the key. It’s safe to say it was a gift from someone (cough cough Azura!)
- I like how we’re seeing an angrier side to Luz. Her boiling hatred of Lilith shown throughout of episodes brings out more layers to Luz. We always see the happy and pure side of her so it’s breath of fresh air to see a sad side like last episode & in this case an angry side.
- I admit I laughed when Luz and king stepped on grass when the sign said “do not step on the grass”. Like it was warranted to get sent to the conformatorian (idk how to spell it). Jaywalking must be a federal offense then.
- Nice to see the Warden again even tho he didn’t have much of a role.
- The moments between Luz and Eda were sweet. I love how they consider each other family & Eda wanted to send Luz back to the human world to protect her. It was sweet, she knew it was the end & she didn’t want Luz to suffer. Eda also giving Luz the key could be a parallel to whoever gave Eda the key (COUGH COUGH Azura/Camilia)
- The fight between Luz and Lilith was fine. Lilith clearly wasn’t interested in it but it was nice to see Luz take out her anger. I held my breath when they crossed into the human realm. Idk why but I thought they would be trapped there or something would happen to witches who crossed.
- Ok, now for what people were curious about. Lilith. I get they tried to make us sympathize with her and she sounded guilty when explaining what happened. So apparently Lilith and Eda both wanted to join the emperors coven but there was one spot left so they had to duel. Lilith became a sore loser and didn’t want to lose to her younger sister so she decided to get a curse that would take away her magic for the day. Or so she thought. (Like cmon Lilith didn’t the scroll tell you exactly what it would do, like where did you miss “turn witches into monsters forever”?) the day comes and Eda forfeits cuz she doesn’t want to fight her sister and then turns into a monster. They tried to justify it but it just doesn’t sit well with me. You still cursed your sister. That’s wrong even if it was gonna take her magic away for a day. Poor Eda tho.
- One thing I did see was I think we got a glimpse at Amity’s mom. In the background you see a green haired witch with the SAME HAIRSTYLE as Amity’s mom. Literally looks like Amity, I think we also saw a brown haired boy next to her (which could be Mr. Blight) watching the duel. The witch had a “mean girl” look to her so I can say I do think that was Amity’s mom in the background. I’m excited to see her next season.
- So Luz goes back with Lilith and King to save Eda. Belos discovers Lilith betrayal and send her to get executed with Eda. I really liked the fight with Luz & Belos. Luz was throwing all she got at him and he was just amused by the whole thing until she got a hit on him and chipped his mask. He only wants the portal and we still don’t know why (tho I will post a theory later). Luz eventually gives up and hands him the door in exchange of letting her save Eda. I’m intrigued he didn’t double cross her or try to kill her when she blew up the door. He seemed annoyed by it but stayed calmed. That was interesting. He seems to be playing along and staying composed. I really want to know more about him.
- So while the petrification is going on. Willow and Gus take control of the news and demands they let Eda go. The crowd cheers on & demands it with her. You’d figure for sheep it would take more convincing than that to turn against your emperors wishes. But whatever.
- So Eda. Luz, Lilith and King escape and fly away.
- Belos tells the crowd that he spared Eda cuz the Titan told him to (& totally not cause he lost) & of course the crowd believes him, so they’re back to being sheep.
- One thing that I’m so glad they did was Lilith got her Karma. She shared her curse with Eda. She’s sharing in the pain she caused and she’s facing the consequences for her actions. Get that? CONSEQUENCES! She gets a taste of her own medicine and now she is cursed. It doesn’t make up for the years of pain she caused Eda but at least she’s sharing in the pain & getting punished for what she did. She owned up to it! She did more than just say sorry so I’m happy for that. I personally don’t think she deserves a redemption but if they continue to show Lilith trying to make up for what she caused Eda then it would make it more believable but time will tell
-To think an episode ago she was so remorseless and took advantage of her sisters weakness. Tried to kill Luz & was just being so horrible. Now it’s a 180. I hope they don’t make it seem like she’s redeemed. I hope they do at least acknowledge her trying to kill Luz (who is a child). I hope they can do that next season cuz now the stakes are high.
- It looks like Eda & Lilith lost some of their magic & Luz will teach them her style. I can see this exploring many things so I’m excited. The one silver eye thing was nice too, physical scars are always cool.
- Is Luz going back to Hexside? She’s a wanted criminal too so shouldn’t they be on the run? I guess Belos has more to worry about than a human. She can’t even go back to the human world cuz it’s gone. Ooo this is opening the door ( pun indeeded) to many possibilities.
Now she has the portal to worry about. Belos is trying to repair It so there’s something really important on the other side. OR SOMEONE (COUGH COUGH AZURA/CAMILIA)
- I’m gonna post a theory on it later
- Overall it was a satisfying conclusion for season 1, I did expect more but it’s a season finale not a series finale. Can’t wait for season 2!
- 8/10

Too Busy Being Yours
Peter Parker x Avenger!Reader
Tumblr media
NSFW
Part 2!
Summary: Peter’s had a crush on you since he moved into the Avenger’s compound. He heads down for training one morning and finds out he’s set to be your sparing partner for the next couple weeks. He also finds out he likes the feel of your hand around his throat.
Warnings: smut, choking kink, sub!peter (Peter is 19!)
A/N: I’m a sucker for sub Peter/Tom so don’t be surprised if this isn’t the last piece like this I write. Also, Infinity War/Endgame? Not in this house!!
Word Count: 4k
Peter walks into the training compound, gym bag slung over his shoulder and he already knows you’re here. Your tell tale training playlist blasting through the speakers and he finds himself humming along as he approaches the schedule. He slides his finger down the list until he finds today’s date.
Oh.
“Tony wanted us to be sparring partners for a couple weeks, said we could learn a few things from each other.” You raise your hands in air quotes over the last part.
Peter swallows dryly… weeks?
He looks over to you and watches as you remove your fingerless gloves, a light sheen of sweat coats your forehead. He can see your knuckles are red from where you've been hitting the punching bag. You’re gorgeous.
“Right, sure?” He meant it as a statement but it comes out as a question.
You elaborate, “He said I fight dirty and - well you’re obviously a lot stronger than me so,” you shrug.
It makes sense, you can learn from each other instead of squaring up with someone that has a similar fighting style. On missions, people are going to do whatever they can to take advantage. It makes total sense. Peter’s just having a hard time thinking straight knowing he’s going to be fighting - wrestling with you - daily… for weeks.
“Yeah, yeah, okay.”
“C’mon Parker, I’ll take it easy on you,” you wink at him as you walk past. He bites his lip and falls in line behind you, trying his best to ignore how tight your leggings are around your ass. He fails.
You stretch when you get to the mats, bending over and Peter drops his head, gym bag slipping off his shoulder and onto the ground. He kneels down and rummages through it for something - anything - to distract himself. He manages to just pull out a towel and set it aside. Nice Peter.
You’re bouncing up and down now, springing up from the balls of your feet and shaking your arms. He catches your eye and you raise your eyebrows in a silent question. He rolls his shoulders as he stands and makes his way over to you, watching as you bring your hands up closer to your face.
You circle each other at first as he dodges your first few strikes but makes no attempt to reciprocate. You huff, “You’re not gonna hurt me Peter, I’ve been shot before I think I can handle a broken rib or similar.”
Peter’s eyes go wide “I’m not gonna break your ribs!”
You land a blow to his stomach and the air leaves his lunges in a rush. You smirk “I know.”
His eyes narrow. He’s worked missions with you before but he’s never really seen you in action. Tony was right, you did fight dirty.
“That was cheap.” He murmurs, dodging another strike from you before grabbing your arm and flipping you to the ground. This time, it’s your eyes that go wide. “It won’t happen again.” He says leaning over you, smirking.
He’s able to focus better after that, you aren’t the girl he’s been pining after since he moved into the tower, instead you’re an opponent with a smart mouth.
9 out of 10 times he gets you pinned and you’re forced to restart but after the fourth round, you’re catching on. He leaves his left flank exposed when he follows through with a punch. You’re getting quicker now, dodging and striking at his weakness. He can feel his ribs bruising from it but the pain doesn’t compare to how much he’s actually enjoying fighting with you.
He’s bantering with you, spitting smart remarks back in your face. You’re impressed, smirking and laughing and he’s proud he can stand toe to toe with you in that aspect.
“Tap out” he taunts, you’re pinned underneath him, your wrists in his hands and you’re both panting.
“No” you retort and he admires your fight.
He’s about to continue on, count the ways he’s got you beat but before he can, you roll your hips up against him, planting your feet and throwing your weight upward. He’s caught off guard and you take advantage, ripping your hands free as you roll over top of him.
It happens in the blink of an eye, he’s reaching to grab you back when suddenly your grip is on his throat, your hand tightens and his world shrinks. He gasps, squeezing his eyes shut and desperately tries to ignore the pull in his groin.
“Fuck, Peter I’m sorry.” As quickly as it came, the pressure is gone. You release him and when he opens his eyes he can see the concern written across your face. You’re kneeling next to him now and he rolls towards you, propping himself up on his elbow. He scrubs a hand across his face. “I was just looking for something to get the upper hand and I didn’t - fuck - are you -“
“Y/n I’m fine. Hey, it worked didn’t it? You definitely won that round.” He tries to laugh it off but he can feel how hot his face is, cheeks stained in embarrassment. He hopes you just attribute it to the physical activity.
“Are you sure you’re alright?”
He smiles and sits up “I’m Spider-Man, I’ve definitely been through worse.”
You don’t look completely convinced but you let it slide. “Probably call it a day anyway, we’ve been here almost 2 hours now.”
“Yeah, good idea.” He agrees, standing and walking over to his gym bag to get his water.
You hesitate, drumming your fingers against your thigh before walking over to your own bag and flinging it over your shoulder. Peter can see small bruises blooming across your shoulder blades and he feels guilty.
“Well, I’ll catch you around Parker.”
“Yeah, see ya.”
He doesn’t really remember walking back to his quarters, his body went on autopilot as his mind went into overdrive. His fingers twitch against his side as F.R.I.D.A.Y. welcomes him back and opens the door. He could still feel your hand on his throat, feel your body on top of his, hear your labored breathing.  He drops his bag on the floor as the door shuts firmly behind him. He pulls his shirt over his head and throws it to the ground before sitting on the edge of his bed, head in his hands. He’s half hard, cock twitching in interest every time his mind plays it over again and he groans. Was this a thing now? He couldn’t distinguish if it was the feeling of your hand around his throat or simply the fact that it was you with your hand around his throat. He’d come to terms a long time ago that he’d be willing to do anything you wanted, if the opportunity arose (it hadn’t) but this - this is something he wasn’t prepared for.
***
It’s really all downhill from there. His brain is a treacherous bastard and he dreams about you every night, on top of him, hand on his throat, grinding down on his cock. He wakes up sweaty and horny, or worse, already stained with cum. He’s 19 for fucks sake and he’s having wet dreams again like he’s pubescent.
He has trouble focusing when he’s sparring with you. Mind hazy. You’re getting better no doubt but a couple of landed blows to the face later and Peter starts to weigh the options of a broken jaw or just telling you how he feels and facing complete and utter humiliation.
He walks in one morning some days later, having barely slept again and you’re already there, warming up. You always get there before he does.
“Peter, I made a new playlist for us. I know you were getting sick of Post.”
Peter smiles, “Nah, you always have the best playlists, I could never get sick of them.”
You smile brightly at him and point towards your phone, “Play it, I named it after you.”
He smiles, proud to have a playlist named after him on your phone. You’ve always been serious about your music and he likes to be associated with something that truly makes you, you.
He glances at your phone and it unlocks, you had insisted on adding his face to your phone ID “in case of emergencies” and vice versa and it was another thing Peter was proud to have. Tony had been annoyed, huffing something about F.R.I.D.A.Y just being able to hack in anyway. You had laughed.
He thumbs over to your music and selects playlists and he sees his name “Parker”…. followed by “Sex” and he stops breathing for a moment. His thumb hovers over the word. You had a sex playlist and he couldn’t stop himself from pressing it. Curiosity getting the best of him as he scrolls through the songs. How often did you listen to this playlist? Had you gotten off to this song? Or that one? Who were listening to this playlist with?
“Find it?” You ask, startling him.
“Uh yeah - you uh, you have a sex playlist?” He hates that his voice raises an octave towards the end.
“Oh of course, don’t you?”
Should probably have sex more than once to compile a playlist.
You study him for a second before stepping into his space and scrolling through your phone while it’s still in his hands. “We can listen to it if you want to, there’s some bangers in here,” you wink at him as the music starts. You’re so fucking cool.
A heavy beat starts out, easy to move to while a guitar strums along. He knows this song but knowing that you’ve possibly had sex to this song? Possibly had an orgasm to this song? It holds new meaning now.
You square up to him, rolling your neck and he gets into a defensive stance.
Have you got colour in your cheeks'
You strike first and he blocks, countering with a blow to your shoulder. You step back with a huff before getting back into position. He comes towards you but you dodge him easily, grabbing his wrist and twisting it up against his back.
I dreamt about you nearly every night this week
He goes to move out of your lock but you hook your foot against his movement, catching him off guard. He tumbles to the ground, arms behind his back. It was sloppy and too easy. You both know it but he taps out anyway.
(Do I wanna know?)
If this feeling flows both ways
(Sad to see you go)
Was sorta hoping that you'd stay
He can’t focus on fighting with this song in the background. He thinks he sees something different in your eyes as well but he can’t comment on it. Too afraid of the answer.
Maybe I'm too busy being yours to fall for somebody new
You pin him again, straddling his waist this time and he could get out of it. He doesn’t want to though and he hopes you don’t want him to either. A moment of confidence (or stupidity) flows through him and he pulls his hand out of your grasp. You let him easily and he hears the slightest increase in your breathing. He grabs your wrist gently and carefully guides it to his throat. He can’t look you in the eyes anymore, opting to squeeze them shut rather than feel the weight of your gaze. He presses his lips into a thin line as he feels your fingers glide along his skin.
“Peter..?”
“Please.”
Your fingers dig into the column of his throat and he whines, just a small noise but he knows your hear it. The blood has rushed to his cock and he knows you know. He can feel the heat and weight of you against him and he can’t stop himself from grinding up into you.
You gasp, and for a moment he’s worried he’s popped this bubble you’ve found yourselves in, but you compose yourself quickly, rocking your hips back down against him and he can’t keep quiet any longer.
“Y/n” he moans.
The door to the training compound slams and you quickly pull your hand away from his throat, startled. Peter can’t bare to look at the door but he’s thankful you make no move to get off him, there’s no way he could hide how hard he is without you. He watches your eyes narrow and he has a pretty good idea of who has walked in.
“Damn y/n, I think you win that round.” Sam’s voice echoes off the walls, somehow louder than the music. Peter has never wanted to kill someone more than right now.
You flip Sam off as Peter sits up, giving you the cue that you can get off of him, as much as he absolutely does not want that.
“I always knew she’d be the type to kick your ass in the streets and the sheets.” Bucky says and now Peter wants to die. If more people keep walking in it’s going to be extremely hard - pun intended - to get out of this situation without further damage to his ego.
His gym bag slams against his shoulder and he looks up to see you looking back at him. Thank fuck.
“Thanks.” He whispers, the double meaning not lost on you.
“You only wish I’d whip your ass into shape Buck” the words roll off your tongue easily, almost like you didn’t just have you hand on Peter’s throat.
“Dream about it every night darling, when you’re done with Peter let me know.”
He’s joking, Peter knows that but the words sting all the same.
“Keep dreaming soldier.” The music stops as you disconnect your phone. “C’mon Parker, I’m hungry.”
Peter’s frozen in place, the sting easing in his chest. He had started coming to terms that this had been ruined, that you’d come back to reality and realized how ridiculous he is and that you’re definitely not interested… but you’re looking at him with that hint of something different he’d seen before. This isn’t over?
“Wait, Pete, shouldn’t you buy her dinner first?” Sam jabs.
“Fuck off” he retorts, catching up to you quickly and Sam and Bucky are practically cackling but he doesn’t care anymore. Your hand is sliding down his arm as you walk out of the compound and they can joke all they want as long as you keep looking at him like that.
You don’t say anything as you press the elevator button. The doors open and you both step on. Peter goes to press the ground floor button but you knock is hand out of the way, pressing the button for the top floor, where your quarters are located.
“I’m not hungry for food Peter.”
He makes a pitiful noise, succumbing to the shift in the air. You have complete control in everything that happens moving forward and Peter couldn’t be more turned on.
“Shh baby, soon.” You coo, running a hand up to scrape through his hair, tugging lightly and he moans again. “You’re so responsive… I love it. I can’t wait to find out what other noises I can pull from that pretty mouth of yours.”
He’s positive if you had merely brushed against his dick he’d have cum.
The doors open and he follows you like a lost puppy toward your room. Once inside, he drops his bag off to the side. He glances over towards you, suddenly extremely nervous.
“F.R.I.D.A.Y., active Red Hat protocol, please.”
F.R.I.D.A.Y.’s electronically polished voice sounds, “Activated.”
Peter’s brows furrow, “Red Hat?”
You walk toward him, sliding a hand underneath his shirt when you reach him, “We’re offline. Tony can’t send for us, no one can. And if he tries to override it, F.R.I.D.A.Y. will alert me while sending him down a rabbit hole. We’ll have about 5 minutes from her warning before Stark will force his way in again.” You’re smirking now, toying with the band of his boxers.
“I’m so turned on right now.” Peter smiles, his tone is joking but he’s completely serious. You laugh, bright and loud.
“Now, I believe we left off somewhere..?” You smirk, reaching a hand up to wrap around his neck, bringing him in for a kiss. He sighs into you, gripping your hips and pulling you in closer. His lips slip smoothly against yours, tiny noises raising from the back of his throat.
Moving your hand back down his body, you push his shirt up, pulling away from the kiss as he removes it the rest of the way. He wants to keep kissing you but you have other ideas, pressing a thumb against his jaw to move his head and get access to his neck. He swallows thickly as your breath ghosts over his skin, bringing goosebumps to the surface.
The silence is killing him and, hoping to distract himself from making more embarrassing noises, he starts talking. “I’ve wanted this for so long.”
Your lips press against his skin “I know.”
Heat settles on his cheeks again but he can’t stop himself from continuing on, “You're amazing, and so sexy. I’ve been dreaming about you.” What?! Peter shut up.
“Tell me about them.”
He bites his lip, cock throbbing as you open your mouth against his neck, tongue meeting skin.
“They’re - uh you’re - you have your hand on my throat….” he feels like the rest of the picture should paint itself, you basically acted the rest of it out down in the training compound.
You’re not satisfied though, humming before your teeth scrape against his neck. He hisses “F-fuck y/n.”
“There has to be more to your dreams, Peter.”
Suddenly, your hand is on his cock, squeezing through the fabric of his joggers and he throws his head back, hitting the wall hard but he barely feels it. The moan that falls out of his mouth sounds pornographic but he’s in no mind to be embarrassed.
“Y-yes, there's more. You’re on top me, riding me and I - uggghhh.”
He can feel your lips curl into a smile, feel the pressure of your fingertips on his hips as you push his joggers and boxers down his legs. He kicks out of them as you step away, his body instinctively wanting to follow your heat. Stupidly, he wants to cover himself because you’re still fully clothed and he’s standing there, naked and hard, shy under your gaze. “Lay down Peter.” Your voice is soft, like you can see how vulnerable he feels.
Peter’s head is swimming, “Right, yeah.”
He settles down against the pillows and watches as you strip naked. He eyes you hungrily, every curve and fine line of muscle, every scar and mole. He wants to touch you everywhere. He reaches down and squeezes the base of his cock to relieve some pressure. You tsk as you walk toward him “Hands off.” And he immediately let’s go, settling instead on your thighs as you straddle him, wet cunt slipping against his cock and he sees stars explode as his eyes slide shut.
“Holy shit.” He moans, squeezing your legs, wanting nothing more than to rut up against you.
“I said,” you grab his wrists and pull them away from your body, “hands off.”
He whines, but does as you command, reaching his hands up and gripping the metal of your headboard. You cock your head, “Don’t break my headboard, I’m kind of fond of it.”
A small laugh slips past his lips, “I’ll do my best but - ughh,” you rock against him, “no promises.”
You lean down over him, lips finding his and he opens his mouth to yours. Your hands slide up his stomach, fingernails leaving small red trails in their wake. You brush against his nipples, earning a small noise from him before your right hand reaches his neck. You pull away, kissing the side of his mouth before pulling back to look in his eyes. He’s flushed, lips shiny and pupils blown.
“You’re gorgeous Peter.”
He smiles, a deeper flush settling on his cheeks, “You’re more gorgeous.”
You smirk back, “Always the flatterer, but back to that dream you’ve been having.” Your fingertips ghost along his throat.
He groans, fingers flexing into your headboard. He ruts up against you, cock dribbling precome against his stomach, “Y/n, please.”
“Oh Peter,” your hand clasps around this throat gently, fingertips applying pressure and you slide along his cock. Cockhead rubbing against your clit. You squeeze gently before releasing him, and he sighs, fixing his gaze back on you.
“More, please.”
“So polite,” you coo. “And you’ll get more baby boy, but first.” You reach over him and into your nightstand, pulling out a condom. He releases the headboard, intending to take the condom from you but you rip it open with your teeth, cocking an eyebrow at him. His mouth pops open slightly before you kneel up over him, taking his cock in your hand and rolling the rubber down his length.
You grab his wrists and guide them back to the headboard, “Final warning, Peter. I’ll have to punish you if it happens again.” As much as he doesn’t want to disobey you the thought of what your punishment could entail has his cock twitching.
Suddenly you’re sinking down on his dick and he whines, “Fuck, oh fuck, please.” He can hear your moans as well, mixing in the air with his noises. Your hand comes back up to his throat, placing your grip on the skin there. You don’t squeeze, opting to just feel the hammering of his heartbeat under your fingertips.
You’re riding him now, grinding down on him whenever your thighs meet his hips. He can’t stop himself from flexing up into you, “So good, oh fuck - you feel so good.”
“Peter,” you gasp, “need you, touch me.”
He’s quick to get his hand on your lower stomach, feeling your muscles quiver with each movement. His thumb finds your clit after some mild fumbling and you groan as he starts to rub it.
“Mmm so good.” You moan, opening your eyes to look down at him. You squeeze gently around his neck and there’s another sharp prick of arousal in his groin. He thumbs at your clit quicker now, the pressure on his neck and cock are catching up with him but he doesn’t want to finish before you do.
You let go of his throat as you lean back, his cock rubbing up against that spot that has your thighs trembling. He reaches his free hand up to palm at your breast, rolling a nipple between his fingers, mesmerized as you move on his cock. Your walls clench around him and he bites his lip. “Fuck sweetheart, not gonna last much longer with you doing that.” He grits out.
You moan, “That’s the point baby boy.”
His hips begin to stutter underneath you and you knock his hand off your clit to replace it with your own. Watching you touch yourself while fucking yourself on his cock is what sends him over the edge. He reaches down for the covers laying underneath him, having enough mind to stop himself from bruising you. He comes loudly, cock pulsing inside you as he pushes his head back into the pillow, exposing his neck to you. He’s riding out his orgasm when feels you flutter around him, overstimulated as a sting of pain mixes with pleasure.
You’re moaning his name, milking your climax for all it’s worth and his stomach clenches as his cock spills a few final drops of cum into the condom.
You collapse on top of him, heaving and sticky with sweat. You hum, placing a kiss along his collarbone before raising your head to look at him. You smile at him, “Way better than any fantasy.”
He sputters, “You’ve been…? You fantasize about this? About me?”
You place a quick kiss to his lips before lifting yourself off of him. “You thought it was a coincidence that you came across my sex playlist?” You ask as you wink, disappearing into the bathroom.
Peter smiles to himself, then “Wait, this wasn’t a one a time thing, right?” Does he sound a little desperate and a lot hopeful? Yes.
He hears you laugh through the thin wall. “Don’t worry about that baby boy, I have a lot of plans for you.”
***
Tony squints at the screen. The coding where your room is - where your room should be - is gone. He rubs a thumb along his chin.
“What’s got you so deep in thought?” Bruce asks as he walks around him.
“Hm? Oh no, nothing. Y/n and spidey have just disappeared.”
“Oh yeah? Good for them, it’s about time.”
“Yeah, yeah right. Good for them.”
Bruce raises an eyebrow at him, studying Tony over the top of his glasses, “You can’t figure out how to bring them back online.”
Tony scoffs, “Of course I can, but what kind of mentor would I be if I cockblocked the kid?”
Bruce laughs, “Keep telling yourself that Tony.”

If you carry him bridal style he will pass away
Here lies Mammon, his human killed him and he’s okay with that
If you show a lot of skin around him he’ll die even faster

Fucking nerd I love him
He’d love to see you stand up to Lucifer
Again, despite your strength, he knows demons are very much more powerful than humans

You can see his devilish gears running
Admires you and your strength
Asmodeus 💅🏻

He’d want to have fashion shows with you
Definitely goes out to get custom made clothes to better fit your body and shape
Also to show off your muscles
He’ll want to paint your nails and shit too
Just let this boy admire your beauty sob
Ofc no ones as beautiful as him
But goddamn you’re up there
Beelzebub 🍔

He likes that you’re strong and capable, but he also likes everything about you
The hugs
Two strong ppl hugging each other

He’s definitely larger when it comes to muscles
But that doesn’t matter
Pls just cuddle with him and eat together after working out he’ll appreciate it
Belphegor 🛌
Tall and muscular?
His cup of tea
For a new pillow
He’s used to using Beel for naps, so you best be ready for Belphie to cuddle with you

You feel comfy and familiar, it’s a refreshing feeling
Also doesn’t care about looks, but he will admire your beauty
Strong jaws are his weakness don’t @ me
If you’re dating he’ll want to lazy kiss you all over
Big or little spoon he doesn’t care
As long as he gets strong girl naps 😔✊

Diavolo will compliment you as much as he can
His hugs with you are also top tier I stg

He’s happy you’re fitting in with the program, and definitely feels better knowing you can handle yourself
Strong both physically and mentally is sexy
He will get on one knee
Barbatos 🌓
He’s just following Diavolo man
Definitely finds you interesting however
He’s a scrawny demon sobs
He doesn’t actively seek out to interact with you, but he enjoys talking
Okay look maybe he’ll get a crush on you if he sees you at one of Diavolos parties, dressed up where he can see your curves and muscles still
But he’s a butler, a serious man!
Feelings can’t come first
Pls appreciate him he’s doing his best and succeeding
Solomon 🐍
Again, he finds you interesting
Prefers to watch from the sidelines
Shady bitch but we stan
He’ll make sly comments about you and your strength, but smirk cause he’s got the advantage with magic
He refuses to be submissive I swear
So maybe he’s intimidated and doesn’t want to lose his stance
But at the same time he’ll definitely drop in subtle compliments
You’re hot what can I say
He likes a strong woman wink wonk
Simeon 🕊
He’s so sweet wtf
Like
Body doesn’t matter to him either but he admires you so much from your first meeting??
Humans are so fascinating!
He’s just a good boy pls
He’s the dad to your mom
You’re legally married if you adopt Luke and honestly he’s okay with that
Will also compliment you tons but he compliments both beauty and personality
Luke 🐶
B a b y
You don’t adopt him he adopts you
He’ll hide behind you when he’s afraid of a demon
While denying it of course
But he thinks you’re so cool!! You could fight off the bad demons and he’ll laugh
His mom is a badass (but he’s not allowed to swear)
Protect him with your life or I will

PLEASE elaborate on that divine beast tsviet au that sounds sick af
this is wordy and a little stream-of-consciousness-y, but I can try to explain anything that's confusing; please enjoy my Thinks(TM)
Spoilers for Dirge of Cerberus and Breath of the Wild, I suppose XD
also @garlemald
like all my best (/hj) ideas, this one is born of taking a thing I like and mixing it like paint into something else I like, except this time Square Enix did it, not me
(when I said I wanted a marriage of Square Enix and Nintendo, this wasn't what I meant)
so basically, Nero gets Vah Medoh *pauses to be pelted with tomatoes* BUT actually he and Weiss can pilot it together, because they're both very strong fighters, Weiss has his theming of perfection, and Nero is highly skilled in a fighting style that's unique to him and he has wings
Rito Confidence, Nero the Sable and Weiss the Immaculate
(no hold on, this actually does make sense, I swear. so like, the colored Tsviets have similar traits to the Champions. That is, those are the things that the Tsviets are strongest in, and those strengths are what, in pretty much every case, damned the Hylian Champions. So they're everyone I'm talking about's strength and weakness or flaw. Their defining trait is the least confusing way to describe it, actually, but it works!! parallels!! :D)
Azul gets Vah Rudania because of his physical strength. Daruk uses it for protecting others, Azul uses it to his advantage rather than others' but there's also sort of an internal set of rules, a code of honor there.
Goron Vigilance, Azul the Cerulean
Rosso gets Vah Naboris because of her passion for fighting, and her speedy maneuvers and tactics, and her relentless drive. The "no one will ever stand above me" scene is the signal of her indomitable spirit that seals it for me. If only she could summon lightning. (also they might look good in each other's outfits)
Gerudo Spirit, Rosso the Crimson
Shelke gets Vah Ruta and that conclusion for me rests solely on Shelke's knowledge that people are depending on her, so she renders service with the capabilities she has, and in that way, aids the hero to achieve his goal. There are also more similarities between her and Mipha-- namely, her sibling that also plays a role, and a special relationship with The Hero (in case it needs to be said, not a romantic one for Shelke)
(Mipha didn't get a cool "Zora ____" that I can give Shelke :[ )
Now, they don't need to actually be a bird, a lizard, a camel, and an elephant, and the names of the Divine Beasts in BOTW are of course references to the populations and history of Hyrule so probably they would need more FFVII-appropriate names and shapes (Vah Medoh as a chocobo is cute but not likely to be accurate, unfortunately)
Story stuff: I'd like to think that in a story setting, it could play similarly to how the Divine Beasts do in Breath of the Wild, so that even Nero and Weiss could help to take down Hojo instead of That, but the beasts turning against the hero even after the Hojo Blight is removed is also an interesting dark variant that could be explored!
But it would be good that same as Link helped the Hylian Champions find rest after all that, that the same could be done for the Tsviets. I know what we get of their backstories is a lot tragic but in that way, I would really like to think this Au would be the version of the story where the future can be better, even though depending on how close you stick to BOTW canon, :/
I think I would prefer them imprisoned by the Hojo Blight in this AU, so they can be freed and brought back to Midgar ("Hyrule") to live the lives they lost, both as Tsviets and in the time they lost trapped in their beasts.
Mostly I just saw the similarities in character traits and how they played out and got really salty about casting choices and went "hey you could make a religion out of this!"
Side note OH my GOD Vincent as Link. the coffin in the Shinra Mansion as his resurrection bed (wait that's canon)
this works too well.
hope you enjoyed reading this long ramble!!

Fate and Phantasms #181
Tumblr media
Today on Fate and Phantasms we’re finishing up the last of the racing teams from the Dead Heat Summer Race with Minamoto no Raikou (Lancer)! She’s the new addition to Team Prefect of Public Decency and Monk Sanzang, a name that just rolls off the tongue.
This shadow prefect is a Devotion Paladin to supercharge her lance/yo-yo with lightning and shut down any indecency this summer, as well as a Monster Slayer Ranger to sense evil before it happens.
Check out her build breakdown below the cut, or her character sheet over here!
Next up: The commissioner!?!
Race and Background
Like most summer servants, your background isn’t that different. Raikou’s still a Fallen Aasimar, giving her +1 Wisdom and +2 Charisma, Darkvision to dunk on those dumb human eyes, Celestial Resistance against Radiant and Necrotic damage, and Healing Hands so she can make people feel better by pressing her body up against them. Get your mind out of the gutter, there’s nothing improper happening here. She also gets the Light cantrip. You might not be able to actually stick lightning in your weapon yet, but at least it looks like you did!
You’re also still a soldier, giving you proficiency with Athletics and Intimidation.
Ability Scores
Make sure your Charisma is as high as possible. I don’t know why, but you’re just really persuasive in this spirit origin. After that is Strength, you still have to be able to chuck a lance at someone’s head if they’re misbehaving. Your Dexterity also has to be pretty good, both for multiclassing and so you can wear that swimsuit later without getting destroyed. Your Wisdom isn’t terrible; you’re not that observant about most things, but you can tell pretty easily when someone’s up to no good. That leaves you with a pretty low Constitution, but it would hurt too much to dump that, so we’re dumping Intelligence instead. A. it’s summer, and B. you have no issue criticizing other’s swimsuits while wearing one of your own.
Class Levels
1. Paladin 1: Starting the build off as a paladin is pretty cool, it gives you proficiency with Wisdom and Charisma Saves, as well as two paladin skills. Grab Insight for a non-magical way to tell when someone’s up to mischief, and Persuasion for... reasons.
You also get a Divine Sense, letting you sense extraplanar creatures near you as an action. Now, I’m not saying an undead creature is inherently evil (esp. with those new playable races), but it’s probably a pretty good indicator when demons show up. You also get Lay on Hands for more physical contact based healing!  Admittedly Raikou doesn’t have a healing skill, but somehow I doubt the rest of the party will mind, aside from perhaps Kintoki.
2. Paladin 2: Second level paladins get a Fighting Style to customize how they slap things, and the Dueling style adds 2 to your attack damage if you’re using a one handed weapon and nothing else. You can also cast and prepare Spells using your Charisma modifier, or use those spell slots to make Divine Smites for extra radiant damage. It’s not lightning, but we’re getting there. As far as what you should prepare goes, I’d suggest anything with “Detect” in its name, as well as a Thunderous Smite. Still not lightning damage, but thematically we’re getting closer.
3. Paladin 3: Third level paladins get Divine Health, making you immune to disease. You’re also so devoted to your cause that you’re a Devotion paladin, which gives you Protection from Evil and Good and Sanctuary as free spells.
You can also Channel Divinity once per short rest in one of two flavors. Sacred Weapon adds your charisma modifier to a weapon’s attack rolls, and it becomes magical for the duration. Meanwhile, Turn the Unholy forces fiends and undead to make a wisdom save, and on a failure they have to move as far away from you as possible for up to a minute, or until it takes damage.
Also, since this is your third total level, you get a Necrotic Shroud that settles on you as an action once per long rest. When you transform this way, you get all spooky and force a charisma save on nearby creatures, frightening them for a turn if they fail. Afterwards, for up to a minute you can add necrotic damage equal to your level to one attack or spell per turn.
4. Paladin 4: Use your first Ability Score Improvement to get more Strength. This improves your stabbing, and... that’s it. Still, stabbing’s pretty useful.
5. Paladin 5: Fifth level paladins get an Extra Attack each attack action. Now your stabbing is even more useful, you’re welcome.
You also get second level spells, like your freebies Lesser Restoration and Zone of Truth. More importantly, you can use Find Steed to find yourself a steed for the race. Your warhorse comes out of the box as a celestial instead of a beast, and it also has an Intelligence of 6 so it can understand one language you speak. Any spell you cast on yourself also targets your steed if you’re riding it, and you can talk to it with your mind if you’re within a mile of it.
6. Ranger 1: Now that we’ve got your ride set up, it’s time to get shocking. To help with this, we’re going ranger. Multiclassing into ranger gets you one ranger skill, so grab Animal Handling so your horse doesn’t throw you off first thing.
As a bonus action, you can turn one enemy into your Favored Foe, dealing a bit of extra damage once per turn until you take a short rest or tag someone else.
You’re also a Deft Explorer, which right now means you’re Canny with Persuasion, doubling your proficiency bonus.
7. Ranger 2: Second level rangers get a second fighting style, and Thrown Weapon Fighting lets you add 2 to the damage of a weapon after you chuck it at someone’s head. You can also draw the weapon you’re throwing as part of the attack, streamlining the whole process.
You also get another set of Spells that you can cast with your Wisdom, like Animal Friendship, which ironically won’t help with your own horse. You also get Detect Poison and Disease to free up your paladin prep space.
Since you’re multiclassing now, check the player’s hand book for how many spell slots you have at a given time. Also, you’ll get third level slots eventually, but you won’t be able to prepare third level paladin spells. Stick with what you know.
8. Ranger 3: Third level rangers get Primeval Awareness, which lets you spend spell slots to sense weird creatures within a mile of you, though you don’t find their location. Think of it like a terrible, terrible smite. Like the anti-smite. Because that’s what it’s doing; it’s taking smites out of your child’s mouth. Let Kintoki have his smites.
Oh right, you also get your subclass. Monster Slayers get Protection from Evil and Good as a freebie like devotion paladins, but neither one uses your casting modifier so it doesn’t matter. You also get a Hunter’s Sense that lets you sense a creature’s weaknesses as an action. You learn your target’s immunities, resistances, and vulnerabilities unless they’re immune to divination. You can use this Wisdom Modifier times per long rest.
You can also turn one creature into your Slayer’s Prey as a bonus action, dealing an extra 1d6 damage once per turn when you hit it with a weapon attack. You can have one prey at a time, and it lasts until you finish a short rest.
You can also Detect Magic now. Any sort of magic on the race track is probably improper, right?
9. Paladin 6: Sixth level paladins get an Aura of Protection, adding your charisma modifier to all saving throws done by your allies near you. If you weren’t around, your allies might have fallen prey to all sorts of spells! How improper!
10. Ranger 4: Bouncing back to ranger gets you another ASI, use this to grab the Armor of Shadows invocation from the Eldritch Adept feat. Now you can change out of those stuffy prefect clothes and into something more appropriate. For Summer, at least.
11. Ranger 5: Fifth level rangers get second level spells and nothing else, since extra attacks don’t stack. You can now Find Traps that have been set up around you, and you get another way to cast Zone of Truth, but your charisma’s better, so stick to using paladin to cast that one.
12. Ranger 6: Your Favored Foe takes more damage, and you’re now Roving, giving you some extra speed plus a climbing and swimming speed. Perfect for a day on the beach!
13. Ranger 7: Seventh level monster slayers can put up a Supernatural Defense, adding 1d6 to saves and grapple escape checks against your slayer’s prey. You’ve seen these kinds of hooligans before, and they’re all the same. You know what they’ll do before even they do.
You can also provide Aid to your allies, giving them extra maximum HP. Put those overcharge spell slots to use! (Or just smite stuff. Either or.)
14. Paladin 7: Seventh level devotion paladins get an Aura of Devotion, preventing you or friendly creatures near you from being charmed. Summer romance... how indecent! Don’t they know what they’re doing?
15. Paladin 8: For your last paladin level, use this ASI to bump up your Charisma and Dexterity for a higher AC, stronger saves, and better spells.
16. Ranger 8: Use this ASI to bump up your Charisma again, for even stronger saves and better spells. You can also use Land’s Stride to avoid damage from nonmagical plants and avoid getting slowed by difficult terrain. You also get advantage against saves from magical plants. Yeah, every summer servant can fight without armor on, but the second they have to walk through a thorn bush they’re hosed. You’re ahead of the game!
17. Ranger 9: Ninth level rangers get third level spells. Elemental Weapon finally lets you stick lightning in your spear for extra fun. You also get Magic Circle for free.
18. Ranger 10: A tenth level ranger is Tireless, letting you heal yourself as an action Proficiency times per long rest, and you can reduce exhaustion on short rests. Now you can spend all night... making sure nobody does anything naughty under the cover of darkness, obviously.
You can also Hide in Plain Sight after crafting camouflage over a minute. Once becamoed, press against a surface as big as you are, and you get a +10 bonus to stealth checks as long as you don’t move.
19. Ranger 11: Your last Monster Slayer goody turns you into a Magic-User’s Nemesis, using your reaction once per short rest to force a wisdom save on a creature teleporting or casting a spell within 60′ of you. If they fail, the spell is wasted.
If you want that spear of yours to be really flashy, you can also use Lightning Arrow to give it a lot more oomph, dealing lightning damage to the target whether it hits or misses, and then dealing more damage to all creatures around that target. Use Elemental Weapon for longevity, or Lightning Arrow for a big blow all at once.
20. Ranger 12: Use your capstone level’s ASI to bump up your Strength one last time for even more accurate and deadly attacks.
Pros:
With your auras and ranger defenses active you can be really annoying to spellcasters. Charms don’t work, you might just counterspell them, your saves can be somewhere between +6 and +11. It’s just a mess for wizards to put up with.
Mixing paladin and ranger also lets you combine their tracking abilities to become the ultimate evil detector, seeking out and shutting down baddies from the shadows.
You specialize in boss fights, focusing on a single target and gradually stacking buffs against them, like favored foe and slayer’s prey, letting you deal pretty consistent damage against a single target over time.
Cons:
You multiclassed into two classes that both require two ability scores to be good. And neither one shares an ability score with the other. You’re MAD as hell, is what I’m trying to say here. Also, your paladin abilities won out handily against your ranger abilities, so your wisdom ended up way lower than you’d probably like.
Similarly, neither class required Constitution, so yours is pretty low for a mid-line fighter. You have barely over 100 HP, and your AC is only 15. Be really careful your horse doesn’t get shot out from under you, you’ll need that extra mobility.
Stacking buffs takes a lot of time, either dedicating an entire turn just to making your next turn good or having a few not so great turns right at the start. Depending on the kinds of situations you end up in, a character ready to go turn one might be a better option.
