OH YOU KNOW WHAT I JUST REMEMBERED!!!!!
ok, ok, so Guggenheim Museum attack is where Gwen meets Miguel and Jessica and joins their spider society, right?
well, when watching this movie a second time, i noticed that Miguel gets an alert on his watch-thingy about a ‘Canon Event’ happening! he even tells Jessica to be careful and not disrupt it. and you know what happens after they defeat the (very beautifully, ink animated) Vulture, Gwen reveals herself to her dad.
apparently, according to the little algorithm thing Miguel’s got, Gwen was always meant to be forced into revealing herself to her dad and have this ugly falling out and i just—
I literally sat there in shock (and more tears) during this scene because both Miguel and Jessica were aware (i don’t know how aware or how much about this canon event they knew) and chose to not interfere until the very end.
maybe, i’m wrong tho or maybe i misheard, but it really helps put into perspective that while Jessica and Miguel have empathy and consider themselves to be good people (or the people who have to do what’s right even if it feels wrong), they are steadfast in their goals. they are willing to have a teenager go through that (a forced coming out basically is what they was. Gwen saw no other way to maybe have some kind of talk with her dad even if she didn’t want the reveal to happen like this).
and i’m just….idk i’m not okay

In my imagination, you're waiting lying on your side - it seems like once again you've had to greet me with goodbye.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In many ways, our memories shape who we are. They make up our internal biographies—the stories we tell ourselves about what we've done with our lives. They tell us who we're connected to, who we've touched during our lives, and who has touched us. They provide important details of who we are and who we would like to be.
for @namojoon.
Tumblr media
The process of healing wounds is long, painful and exhausting.
Sometimes it hurts even more than what has happened.
At least that's how you would describe your healing process.
You look through the window of your small but pleasant house.
After Momo died - or rather, was murdered - you decided to stop serving as a knight for your kingdom for the time being.
Of course, you promised Tzuyu that she could always come to you in an emergency, that you would forever be a knight serving her kingdom without hesitation.
Letting go was difficult, sometimes you even had the feeling that Momo was still standing in front of you, laughing, crying and doing everything with you.
Maybe you still haven't let go completely, maybe you never will, you just know (or at least hope) that things have gotten better.
You still wonder what happened to Sana.
Even if you partly don't want to know, a part of your body -
a tiny part of your body -
worries about her.
And you hate yourself for it.
You walk through the kingdom, making a, well, daily detour by her grave.
You kneel down in front of the grave, brush down a leaf.
Every time you are there, you make sure that it stays clean, that there is no damage.
Somehow you have the feeling that you have to do it, but you don't mind.
"I love you" you whisper, your hand slowly stroking the engraved words.
You've partly gotten into the habit of not reading what's written on it, maybe it's a sign of ignorance.
But you just feel better if you don't have to read the words every time.
You don't always have to be reminded.
'Hirai Momo, a fighter, a person full of love'
You hate reading it every time.
You sigh softly and get up.
One last look at her grave - even though you know you'll be back tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that, and so on.
You wipe away the tear that runs down your cheek.
The path to the village is quiet, the birds are chirping, the wind is almost non-existent.
You greet the people who walk past you and realize that they still treat you differently.
Their eyes are full of concern.
The only thing people think of when they see you is -
"Poor her. I wonder how she's doing"
And you don't know whether you should think it's good or bad that that's all they think about.
"Y/n!" someone shouts, you turn around and see Chaeyoung walking towards you.
"I've been looking for you for the last few days, can you come with me?" she asks.
You're confused, but nod. She takes you by the wrist and pulls you along as you both walk to her house.
She sits you down on a chair in her living room as she walks around.
You know she often has a lot of energy - but this much?
She comes back with a small bottle, the contents liquid and yellow in color.
She looks at you after placing the bottle on the table in front of you.
"Okay. You have to listen to me, let me finish, because it's going to sound weird at first," she says, and you nod.
"Have you ever heard of the theory of the multiverse?" she asks.
You shake your head - you've never been interested in all the theories, you've always preferred to think about what's happening in the present, what "makes sense" to you.
"Okay..." she starts to say, thinking before continuing,
"So, basically, the theory is the idea that the observable universe, the universe we're in right now, is only a part of the whole reality, and there's supposed to be a multiverse that contains numerous possible universes," she explains, and you look at her, slightly confused.
Chaeyoung takes a breath and tries to say it as simply as possible.
"It may be that you can travel through universes to see other situations and worlds, do you get the idea?" she asks.
"I think... but why are you telling me this? and why the bottle?" you reply.
"How can I say this..." she mumbles.
"Since... Since Momo is gone, I've been working on something, and I think... I think you can travel through the multiverse with this potion," Chaeyoung replies.
You look at her and feel your mood change completely when she mentions Momo.
"But... But why are you telling me exactly?" you ask.
"Because I need someone to try it out... and I think you deserve it the most. Because if it really works, you can see Momo in other universes.
In ones where she's not dead," she says.
In which ones where she's not dead?
You swallow as you look down at the floor, then back up at Chaeyoung.
"How likely is it that it will really work?"
"Pretty much," she replies.
"I'll do it," you say.
"Really? Are you sure? It could be dangerous"
"I have nothing to lose anyway"
Chaeyoung nods.
"No one can see you while you're traveling, which means you can go anywhere you want. But after a certain time, you may end up in another universe"
"Okay"
"Drink it, and when you feel dizzy, it will start to work" she says.
"I'll stay here and make sure everything goes well"
You nod and pick up the bottle.
"Okay" you say, but somehow you say it more to yourself.
You pull the cork out of the bottle and the pungent smell immediately hits your nose before you drink it.
You put the bottle back down and take a deep breath.
In and out.
In -
And out.
But before you can concentrate more on your breathing, you feel a stinging sensation in your head.
Chaeyoung is standing next to you, paying attention to how you're feeling.
"I think-"
You can't finish your sentence as your eyes suddenly close and it feels like you're being thrown around.
Your eyes open as you see lights everywhere, some colorful and some so dark you can't even call them lights anymore.
Your body floats and you try to look around, but your head won't move.
You try to reach somewhere, but you fall to the ground before you can do it.
The first thing you feel is grass under your fingertips.
You slowly open your eyes and look around, but the only thing you see are trees.
You stand up, pacing back and forth before you hear voices.
You walk through the bushes to see who's talking,
And even though you expected it, it's still so strange.
In front of you is Momo, holding a sword.
Opposite her - it's you.
It's like the first time you saw her.
"You shouldn't be here," says your other self.
"Says who?" asks Momo.
You run towards her and attack her, but Momo quickly moves out of the way.
This is a universe where you and Momo are enemies.
Just like at the beginning.
You continue to watch as the two of you fight each other.
Blades clashing, the tension high and thick.
"What are you doing here?" your other self asks through clenched teeth.
"What are you thinking? Hm?" Momo asks teasingly.
It looks like you've had enough, because you push her away -
and thrust the tip of the sword into her throat.
You are startled when you see it, Momo falls to the ground with a stupid grin on her face.
"That-...that was a mistake...," she says, choking on her own blood and your other self pulls out the sword.
The sight of Momo hurts your heart.
It reminds you too much of the night she died in your universe.
The fact that this is another universe though, calms you a little.
Your other self leaves Momo alone and walks away.
So you go to her, even though she can't see or feel you.
Her gasping for breath worries you as you kneel before her.
"Momo..." you whisper, even though you know she can't hear you.
You're actually just talking to yourself.
It's as if she's looking at you - and a part of you hopes so, so much that she'll somehow realize that you're there, that she'll somehow feel you.
You sigh softly, but not a disappointed sigh.
Momo stops breathing - stares into the distance without any emotion on her face.
The sight could make you cry.
But before you can look at her any longer, you feel something strange in your body.
The effects of the potion kick in again.
You stand up and look down at Momo one last time.
Your eyes close as the lights start to flicker again.
And again it feels like you're being thrown around.
You land on your knees on a floor, a stone floor to be precise.
Your eyes open and try to adjust to the light.
As you look around, you realize that you are in a church.
Upon closer inspection, you realize that it is the church in Tzuyu's kingdom.
You stand up and look around.
It is empty - except for two voices that break the silence.
You walk towards it - and see a confessional.
And then you see yourself, on your knees.
Your head is bowed as a priest comes to you.
"Why are you here, my child?" he asks in a calm voice.
"I have come to confess my sins, Father. I'm afraid I've done something bad." you reply, your voice has a hint of fear in it.
"What have you done?" he asks.
Your other self takes a breath and then starts talking.
"I was seduced by a woman. It's as if she stole my heart and took it as her own. I can't think of anything but her.
And I don't know what to do, father."
When you hear your words, you don't know how to react.
You wouldn't claim to be a religious person, but seeing you ask a priest for help somehow hurts your heart.
In this universe, you can't accept that you love Momo.
In this universe, you are afraid.
And this feeling is a little too familiar.
"My child, don't be afraid," the priest begins to say,
"It's good that you've come here to confess your sins to the Lord,
And he will forgive you for loving a woman. Pray for him every night,
and he will help you to stop,
and your heart will be yours again."
You bite your lower lip, not knowing how to react.
You'd like to tell your other self that you should do what you want.
That it's completely stupid to listen to the priest.
That you should keep loving Momo.
As long as you have the chance.
But your other self nods, thanks the priest for his help and leaves the church.
You run after her, wondering where she's going.
"Y/n!" Momo shouts, running to you with a smile.
In this universe, you two are not knights.
"What were you doing in church?" she asks.
You're just two friends.
You shake your head and say that it was nothing important.
Momo doesn't ask any more questions, but takes your hand and says that she has to show you something.
She pulls the other you away and you are now standing alone in the village.
You look around and see Tzuyu walking around smiling.
It somehow makes you happier to see that she's doing well.
But you notice something -
She's holding a man's hand?
You look confused, and then it occurs to you.
Not in every universe is she with Dahyun.
And you think that's why Dahyun looks so sad as she walks alongside Tzuyu.
It somehow looks weird - seeing Dahyun and Tzuyu not linked together and giggling like teenagers in love.
Your confusion disappears pretty fast as the man gets distracted and Tzuyu shoots a smile at Dahyun.
Her cheeks flushed when she smiles back, her hand on Tzuyu's for a second until she pulls back to not raise awarness on them.
Dahyun is not a queen in this universe, but just a normal girl.
A normal girl who is hopelessly in love with her friend.
And somehow it reminds you a little of your situation.
You sigh slightly.
You walk in the direction Momo pulled your other self towards, but you fall to the ground and can't walk any further.
The effects of the potion are already kicking in again.
"So fast...?" you ask yourself as your eyes close.
The same thing happens again -
Your body is thrown back and forth, the lights flicker and after a certain amount of time you land on the ground.
The first thing you hear Momo's voice.
Then yours.
And finally -
Sana's.
Sana's voice?
Hearing her talk, so happy, without a care in the world, makes you angry.
And how you wish she could see you, because if she could, you'd kill her with your bare hands.
Without hesitation.
You get up and walk towards the voices.
The closer you get, the more you can hear what they are talking about.
You hear laughter -
and moaning?
Moaning?
And when you stand in front of them, you are more shocked than you have probably ever been.
Momo's hand is in your pants, Sana's mouth is on your neck.
In this universe, all is well between the three of you.
No hate, no sadness, no one betraying the other.
You keep staring at them - it's like you can't take your eyes off them.
Somehow this is a dream.
Maybe even the universe you would prefer to live in?
"I love you," Sana says, leaving kisses all over your body.
"I love you," says Momo as she pushes her fingers in and out of you.
"I love you too," you moan.
Sana loves you?
Momo loves you?
You love them both?
It's as if all your negative thoughts about Sana are gone - you just want to jump into her arms.
The sight brings tears to your eyes, seeing how this is your dream universe.
And somehow you are glad that you can feel yourself getting dizzy and that the potion is starting to work again.
Your eyes close.
When they open again, the sun blinds you.
You get up and look around you.
A small river, a meadow with beautiful, colorful flowers.
There are no houses nearby and you wonder where exactly you are.
You walk around a bit and realize how this place resembles the tales of paradise.
"Where am I..." you mumble.
Several meters further on, however, you finally see people.
Two people, to be precise.
And as you get closer, you see it.
Mina and Sana?
"Mina," says Sana, as if she had been looking for her for ages.
"Sana," Mina replies, with a smile.
While Sana is dressed fairly normally, Mina is wearing a white dress.
The fabric looks quite thin, fine patterns are depicted on the dress.
She looks like an angel.
"I've missed you so much" says Sana, her expression so... soft?
"I missed you too Sana" Mina says and comes closer, her arms open and Sana almost runs towards her.
They hug, and you even think you hear a sob from Sana.
The two slowly let go, Sana looking at nothing but Mina.
"I'm so sorry. I wish you were still here..." Sana says, wiping a tear away from her cheek.
"Don't be sorry Sana," Mina starts to say.
You question whether you're even in a universe right now, or whether you've landed here on a spiritual level,
However, this is Sana's last farewell to Mina.
You are here in a place where the dead can communicate with the living.
"It's not your fault Sana,
or anyone else's," she says.
Sana nods a little, the tears still streaming down her cheeks.
"I love you," says Mina.
"I love you too. Forever and ever." Sana replies.
As you listen to them, it all starts to make sense.
Sana didn't love you, or Momo, or anyone else.
She loved Mina, and she died.
That's why Sana was so angry with Momo.
"I will never forget you, I will never stop honoring you, until my last breath I will think of you." Sana says and Mina takes Sana's hand in hers.
Mina has a reassuring smile on her lips.
"Thank you for being here," says Mina.
"I wish you could stay here longer, but your time in paradise is slowly coming to an end Sana" she says, her thumb stroking Sana's hand.
"I know," she sighs slightly, but then smiles at Mina again.
"So this is our final goodbye?" asks Sana, Mina nods.
"I'll always be with you" says Mina.
Sana nods.
"I love you." she says again, and before Mina can say it back, Sana slowly dissolves and disappears.
Mina looks down at the floor and repeats Sana's words to herself.
When she looks up again, she looks you in the eye.
You look left and right to see if anyone else is standing there, but no.
She's looking at you, no one else.
She walks over to you and stops right in front of you.
"You're Y/n, aren't you?" asks Mina.
"Y-yes. You can see me?" you reply, and she nods,
"Have you been listening to us?" she asks.
"Yes,
I didn't know you and Sana had such a relationship" you say, Mina smiles a little.
"She doesn't like to talk about it. But yes, I was her lover" is Mina's answer.
You nod a little, trying to understand everything that has just happened.
Trying to understand how you can talk to a dead person.
"Momo told me about you," she says, breaking the silence.
"She told you about me? You talked to Momo?" you ask.
"Yes. I was watching when... when the accident happened" she answers.
"She told me that if she could, she would do anything to see you again," says Mina, raising her hand.
"Your potion is slowly losing its effect" Mina puts her hand on your forehead and you wonder what exactly is going to happen now.
But before you can ask anything, your eyes close.
As they open, you are blinded by a bright white light.
You stand up slowly and look around, but see nothing.
Everything is white, the floor is straight without any bumps or curves, and nothing is in sight.
This place looks like it does in dreams, when you try to escape but can't.
The more you walk around you realize that it makes no sense, everywhere is white and you are completely alone here.
"Y/n" you hear a voice behind you calling after you.
You don't move, don't breathe, don't even dare to blink.
"Y/n" the voice repeats.
You slowly realize that this moment is not a dream.
It is real.
You slowly turn around and look her in the eye.
Momo is standing in front of you.
Her clothes match the white surroundings, and you hate it.
She's dressed like Mina, like an angel.
You stare at her, trying to breathe evenly.
"Momo?" you say, but it comes out more like a question.
"It's real," she replies.
It is real.
You slowly calm down, or rather try to.
In some way it feels like the first time you saw her -
You unsheathe your sword and slowly walk towards the noise. Peering through the bushes, you see a knight.
Or rather, a female knight.
Her rather long black hair is tied up in a ponytail. Her forehead is covered by a fringe. You only see her side profile, but it's like she was gifted by Aphrodite. While she breathes, her plump, pink-ish lips slightly part. Her sword is stuck in the grass next to her. She sits on a bigger stone, her armor less than yours. Her chest and stomach are protected, a helmet in her left hand, but you can see her well-trained arms. A few veins peek out on her hands, probably because of the heat.
But wait a minute. She is a knight. A stranger in your kingdom, which you are supposed to protect.
You got too distracted and she used that.
Flashbacks of the first meeting come into your head, your mind full of them.
You walk slowly towards her, as if she were dangerous, as if she were an enemy you should be afraid of.
"I never thought you could be so emotional," says Momo, turning her head in your direction, which is now partially submerged.
"Me neither," you admit.
"It's strange. Being here, in the water. With you." you say and look at her too.
"We're enemies," she replies and laughs a little.
Unfortunately.
You think, but it scares you to say it.
You're standing right in front of her.
She's standing in front of you.
No imagination, not those stupid dreams you've always had since she left.
She's really standing in front of you.
"I feel like we've just met for the first time," you say, Momo laughs a little.
"I feel the same way," she replies.
You feel the tears coming.
Before you regret it, you move closer.
You kiss Momo on her lips, your hands on her hips, the grip so strong that someone could think you're afraid she'll suddenly just disappear.
And that's exactly your fear right now.
She kisses you back.
You kiss Momo.
Memories of your first kiss come flooding back.
You close the distance between the two of you, her soft lips on yours as she dares not move.
This time it's different.
It's not a stupid dream you're having because you're confused about your feelings for Momo.
It's all more real.
And you want it, so, so much.
You slowly pull back, Momo smiles at you.
"I- I missed you so much," you say as tears run down your cheek.
"I missed you too, believe me," she replies, wiping away your tears.
"I think about you every day, and... and I always visit your grave and and-" you start sobbing, completely overwhelmed by the situation.
Momo interrupts you.
"Shh... I know, trust me"
"I was there when you visited my grave, when you were talking.
I'm sorry I couldn't answer your questions," she says.
"Why not in this one?" you ask.
"Why couldn't you just find me in this universe?" you ask.
"I wish so much that I could have found you in this universe. So much." she says.
"You're so strong for handling it so well"
"But that's the thing. I don't handle it well,
Every time I just want to sleep, I dream about you." you reply, feeling the tears growing.
"Either I dream about you smiling at me. With that stupid grin that I miss so much..." you take a deep breath,
"Or I dream of your face covered in blood"
Momo looks at you,
and suddenly her face is covered in blood.
Sana's sword is suddenly stuck in her head before she pulls it out.
She topples over, onto the dirty ground, onto the grass.
She doesn't move, just lies there.
Not a single breath, no stupid grin, nothing.
"I dream so often about that one night..." you say quietly, your voice cracking while you try to hold back your tears.
"I know," Momo replies.
"I'm so sorry you had to watch it happen like that."
"I love you," you say.
"I love you too, so much," she replies.
You look at her, slightly startled, confused, surprised.
It's the first time Momo has ever said that she loves you.
The first and the last time.
"You have to go slowly," says Momo.
"The effect is wearing off"
You nod slowly.
"So this is our final goodbye?" you ask, Momo nods.
"I'll be with you forever" Momo says and hugs you tightly.
This time she is the one who is afraid that the other will dissolve.
"I will think of you and love you forever," you say.
You feel yourself getting dizzy again.
Momo sobs quietly, her nails dig into your body.
"It's okay," you say, even though you're still crying, but you try to calm her down.
"It's okay," you repeat.
It all feels so light as your eyes close.
You can't feel any arms on your body.
Momo no longer feels the body she was hugging.
Your eyes open rapidly and you look around.
Chaeyoung stands up from her chair and looks at you.
You look at her and wipe a tear away from your cheek.
"You made it," she says.
You nod.
"The potion worked..." she says and picks up something to write down, probably something about this experiment.
You get up slowly and walk to the front door,
"Before you go," Chaeyoung says -
"The idea for the multiverse, and for this potion,
actually came from Momo"
You look at her and smile,
You close the door behind you and leave her house.
In this Universe, you live without Momo, and you're starting to accept it.
Because deep in your heart, you know that she is always with you.
So when you hold out your hand while walking home,
you know that she is holding it.

"She's my wife."
Summary: Miguel thought you and his daughter died and you thought the same about him but when the truth comes out it makes for an emotional reunion of a small family (I changed Gabriella's age so the story would flow better)
Word count: 1.2K
Warnings: grief, kissing
-
-
Miguel’s eyes focus on the familiar group in front of him on his screen, a video he’s watched only too many times, so many that he can recite the words you say. He counts down the seconds until you walk onto screen watching your reaction to him and Gabriella wearing the matching outfits you bought for them, Gabriella only being about one at the time.
You walk in the room, your hands over your eyes before dropping them and cooing at the adorable scene ahead of you: Gabriella hugging Miguel as he’s wearing a begrudging smile.
When you and Gabriella first died he would re-watch the videos with tears in his eyes, angry tears but now he just watches them with longing in his eyes.
You, however, did not die nor Gabriella but you were accidentally sent to a different reality, leaving Miguel behind, except you thought he died just like he thought you died. In the other reality you had obtained “Spiderman” powers (through the usual way) and made sure that you protected Gabriella with your life for a few years before you’re recruited by some other Spider people who say they’re from another reality.
The concept of different realities is not a foreign one to you but you didn’t realise that there was a whole organisation called the Spider Society set up.
“Can you go over it again?” You ask, resting your head in your palm, all the science talking making your head hurt.
The Spiderwoman in front of you who you now know as Jessica explains the whole thing to you again, but leaves out the science making it easier to understand and conceptualise.
“And you want me to join?” You ask.
“Yeah, I’ve been monitoring you for a while now and I checked with a couple of colleagues and we decided to invite you. We’ll still have to introduce you to the boss though because we didn’t check with him before talking to you.” She says.
“Okay, I’ll check it out if you can take me wherever it is but I’m not making any promises. And I need to take my daughter with me.” You say, bargaining with the small group.
“That’s totally fine.” She says with a smile, handing me a couple of watches.
“Now?” You ask, surprised about the efficiency.
“Are you busy?” She asks.
“No but I’ll have to get my daughter…” You trail off, moving through the apartment to Gabriella’s room. “Hola, ‘Riella.” You say, using the nickname that Miguel gave her. You give her a brief explanation basically that you had to go somewhere for work and that she had to come as well.
A few minutes later, you emerge from the room holding a young sleepy girl ready to go. It takes another few minutes to fully explain the portal system and eventually you’re flying through the multiverse staring at all the bright colours, careful to hold on to Gabriella.
Later, you step out of the portal next to Jess, opening your eyes to reveal countless Spidermen and Spiderwomen including animals like a Spider Cat? You question, unsure you’re seeing everything correctly.
You’re quickly led through the building by Jess, clearing used to the craziness of this place as she navigates easily. The people here are friendly enough though as the amount of smiles and “hello”s  you receive is incredible.
“So, I’m gonna introduce you to my boss, he runs pretty much everything here and he can be a little scary sometimes but don’t worry about it, okay?” You nod, more scared than you were before her reassurance.
She pushes open the door to reveal a slowly lowering platform, a man sat in a chair on the platform. Jess stands in front of mm and it almost seems as though she’s trying to protect you from him which only worries me more.
The platform reaches the floor and the man stands up from the chair not having yet turned around and you can feel my nerves peaking, until he turns around.
Instantly, my eyes widen and I don’t believe I can be seeing things correctly and my reaction is mirrored on his face. I stand frozen to the ground, shocked to my core as I stare at him scanning over his features making sure I’m correct. That’s my husband. My husband who is supposed to be dead.
“So, (y/n), this is-” You interrupt her staring at the man in front of you who’s staring back at you.
“Miguel?” You question quietly causing confusion to arise on Jess’ face.
“Oh, you guys know each other?” Jess asks as you begin to move towards Miguel.
Holding on to Gabriella gently, you walk towards the man who stands frozen. After he registers your movement he mimics it, walking towards you until you meet in the middle him immediately wrapping his arms around you. You never realised how much you missed the feeling of his arms around you until you feel the warmth and safety he provides you with.
“(y/n)?” He says, questioning you with an unstable voice.
“Yeah.” You say, tears gathering and leaving your eyes as you cling onto his large body.
It stays silent for moments although to you it feels like years, thankfully. After these moments you slowly pull myself away from him,
“I don’t understand how you’re alive but I don’t care right now.” You say raising your hand to his face, stroking over the rough “stubble”, but it’s more like he just forgot to shave for a few days.
You smile through teary eyes, looking up at your husband who towers over you. You get on your tip toes but you’re still not tall enough to reach his lips so you wrap your free hand around the collar of his Spiderman suit, tugging him down to your level and smashing your lips against his. He used to chuckle when you had to pull him down to your level but now he’s just happy to be with you in the moment. The videos combined could never live up to the reality of him having you here with him.
His lips are rough and chapped, not how you remembered and his hands are coarse, the time spent without you had clearly not been a good time. It wasn’t for you, desperately trying to protect and provide for Gabriella without Miguel by your side - it certainly wasn’t easy but it doesn’t matter now because you’re together and now no one will be able to change that ever again.
“So, you do know each other?” Jess says and honestly you forgot she was there but you turn to look at her with a small smile.
“She’s my wife.” Miguel says looking up at her and Jess just looks very confused, previously thinking his wife was dead.
You quickly interrupt, moving Gabriella into his arms watching as she slowly wakes up.
“I’m sure she’s missed you.” You say, quietly watching as his eyes seem to shimmer looking at his daughter for the first time in years.
“I missed you two so much, you have no idea.” He says and you can hear the tears in his wavering voice. “I’m never letting you two go ever again.” He says wrapping his arms around the both of you.
-
AN: I hope you enjoyed reading!
I thought I'd try writing in 2nd person, which do you prefer, 1st person or 2nd person?

The poetry which emerges when the void summons
I stare at the ceiling and lay on my bed,
With persistent ruminations in my head,
I appear still, almost resembling dead,
With no vigour inside me, yall dread.
Isn't it the most intriguing, my partial existence?
The exuberant gigglemug, the pretense,
Cause that's what is shown, rest of it in the shadows,
My face concealing my head in meadows.
Indolent by the looks of it,yes, I admit,
Those little droplets, the radiance they emit,
Mere salt and water, as defined by science,
But they're fragments of you, says my defiance.
I know you never pray or ruminate like me,
About the consequences of your actions on me,
About those nights when I can't fall asleep soundly,
Imagining you by my side and wishing you profoundly.
Oh dear, even Satan tries to pity me, astonishingly,
When he watched you sacrifice all my potence willingly,
I just wanted to see you smile, without fabricating it,
But your bonafide pleasure was to throw me out in a pit.
I was ready to fend with my life for you,
Fight the viscous of battles , just for you,
Be vindictive against the whole universe,
Cause nothing mattered to me more than your love, in any multiverse.
I gave up my boyhood to be the man for you,
Never rummaged through the necessities in lieu,
For the little boy I had assassinated for you,
Only ever yearned just for you.
Flashforward, my eyes are still fixated on the ceiling,
It was 10 am , now it's 4pm, haven't moved a single inch of this mortal being,
For I don't find the objective to thrive, my heart is gone,
I'm just immobilised, cause my brain can't digest that you weren't the one.
Deliberately ostracised myself from my interests,
Pushed all my opportunities away, again in your best interest,
All because I wanted to sit down by the garden and talk to you,
While the descending sun reminded me of you.
Now all I'm perceived as is an outcaste,
Cause they think I've never erased you,
They're not wrong, I did make my entire purpose to live, around you,
Always breathed the air you breathed, and isolated, whenever it was feasible.
And now,I am just left alone in these thoughts,
Without any clue of what is awaiting me,
Everyone ascending on their own pace,
While they accomplish everything they've ever wanted and spit on my face.
Is that what you wanted? Congratulations your purpose is served,
But not for long, as I am building an armour and my empire ,
And when it's finished you'll see, that I can reincarnate and be better,
So maybe you didn't actually devastate me.
Sudden poetry from when I was almost asleep a few weeks ago, It has no specific title, it's just what it claims to be, my unfiltered thoughts.
I know this will be a direct blow to some of yall reading this, and I know I'll receive heart and gut wrenching, devastating, degenerate comments, but when I'm finally on my healing journey, which means I cope with poetry, I'll be infuriated on this platform.
I will show my frustrations, share my feelings and I'll scream till all the hurt is eviscerated from my heart in the form of words.

I absolutely adore the relationship between error and pj in loyal servant
Oh, I'm going to do a deep dive about this one...
The relationship between Error and Paperjam was both fun and heartbreaking to write. Primarily because their story isn't one that gets a truly happy ending. Its not a "I'm going to completely change my personality and be a better father, and everything will be perfect." sort of ordeal.
Error loves PJ, but he is unable to express it. He's too wrapped up in the reputation he's made for himself to believe he's capable of being a father. He says; "I left. That's what I did for you, PJ. That was the only thing I could do for you." Which is a testimate to how he cares but believes his child is better off without him. In his mind, being around would only make things worse for PJ.
On the flipside, Paperjam never understood this. They grew up believing that the only reason either of their parents were distant and/or downright cruel was because of who they were as a person. They're too much like Ink, or they're too much like Error. That definitely helped to breed PJ's desire to find balance. The desire to destroy the other gods didn't truly stem from hating what their parents fighting did to others, but more so what it did to them. In their mind, the feud between Ink and Error was to blame for their lack of family ties.
To hear Error tell them that's not the case flipped a switch. It told them that the reason he wasn't there wasn't because he hated Paperjam's very existence, but because he was afraid to hurt one of the few things he loved within the multiverse. His hands have caused pain and suffering throughout the entire multiverse, so how was he supposed to use them to be gentle and kind? He wasn't sure, so he kept his distance. It was out of love.
Then theres my boyfriend's reason for liking the dynamic.
Error tells them: "You are like me." And: "It was for your own good. I had to keep you away." which could also be read as Error's way of trying to prevent PJ from ending up like him. Error believes himself to be this source of evil. Everything he's done has been for a selfish and cruel reason. If Paperjam were to see him; were to look up to him, they might just end up the same way. He doesn't want that for Paperjam.
He became especially hostile towards Paperjam during the whole Book of a Thousand Souls incident, possibly because of some thought process along the lines of: This is something I'd do. I left so you wouldn't become this way. Why are you still being this way? Why aren't you better than me?
Point is, Error has a very difficult time with expressing love. Him telling Paperjam that he only wanted what was best for them is probably the closest he'll ever get to sounding like an actual father, which he notes in the story.
When Error admitted these things to Paperjam, they stiffen and go quiet yet still end up with watering sockets. There's so much relief and pain that it overwhelms them. All they ever wanted was to believe that somehow they were loved. And Error finally made sure that they knew it. Perhaps not in the way PJ hoped, but it was clear enough for them to understand. They know Error loves them, and thats that matters to PJ. Anything else is a bonus.
....Sorry I like talking about characters. Asks like these will get long responses out of me.

Diego Hargreeves x GN!reader headcanons
Tumblr media
Diego Hargreeves x Gn!reader
Pronouns used: none
Requested by anonymous: Hello lovely, would I be allowed to request GN reader dating Diego Hargreeves headcanons? (I love your writing so much and please take your time with this!!)
Warning⚠️: knives, accidentally cutting himself, almost getting your shit rocked by Viktor, not beta read because my beta readers are fucking sleeping (the nerve).
Reblogs>likes
(a/n: I've been Violently Sick for the passed few days and I'm in so much pain and the only thing I can do is lay in bed so I was like “might as well do some request”)
He's a bisexual and I stand by that.
He's never really been the dating type so he's a little lost when you first start your relationship
He took you axe throwing as a date once, just to see if you'd like it. Now you go at least twice a month (it’s y'all thing)
Watching him play with knives and him trying to do an advanced trick to impress you but ends up hurting himself.
Like almost cutting his fingers off.
But it's just a scratch, he's okay.
Make him move in with you, anything is better than a hot ass, sweaty, gym boiler room.
Never had any kind of casually intimate relationship. Like he's never had someone who just loved him for no other reason than just “because I do”
He's scared of you leaving him, he doesn't show it often, but honestly every relationship he's had ended in some kind of tragedy.
More specifically Patch.
You didn't know about Patch until later in your relationship. He was destroyed by her death. Which only really hit him after he helped save the world (and universe, and multiverse etc..).
Okay moving on from the sad.
He's not a morning person and it’s your fault.
Years of training, a lifetime of waking up at the crack of dawn… Ruined.
Because of you and your “just a few more hours baby, I’m tired”
Sleeps in with you one time and he’s a different man.
He can sleep until noon.
He will force you to stay in bed with him, arm and legs fully locked around your body with the intention of keeping you in bed.
If you’re Strong, then you're just gonna have to carry the bastard on your back as you get ready because he’s not letting go.
If you’re not, rip.
He’s always cold, like all the damn time. Non-stop freezing.
He gonna put his little cold hands on you
And his cold everything else.
And you’re going to suffer.
He does it out of love though.
Get him a nice knife, even if it’s purely decorative and just made to sit and look pretty on a shelf, get him one.
He loves it, even if he can’t use it.
We know he likes to dance, but he doesn’t like dancing in front of people.
So you’re gonna have to do a fucked up dance in front of him first because one thing he’s not fucking doing is opening that floodgate on his own.
Once he’s comfortable and has established that he can do his dorky little dances in front of you he’s ready for marriage.
Like he’s walking down the aisle the moment he sees the acceptance in your eyes.
Honestly and truly your biggest simp.
He thinks you’re so hot.
Whether you're the type of person that just dresses nicely every day and just looks amazing all the damn time.
Or you only get dressed up for special occasions and are in you pajamas any other time he doesn’t give a FUCK.
Dates are weird.
Depending on which season this takes place in he’s either 1) a vigilante, 2) a mental hospital escapee, 3) being hunted by the Sparrows, or 4) whatever fuckery Reggie has set up to keep his children from living normally in the Hargreeves capitalist utopia.
So…ya know. Regular dates might be a little difficult. But stay at home date are always an option.
Cooking together, watching movies, cuddling. The whole 9 yards for him.
He Refuses to introduce you to his family. Not because he doesn’t want you meeting them, it’s just he has a feeling that somebody (Klaus) will have some very embarrassing things to say about him.
That’s okay tho, Klaus let himself into your house once after finding out Diego lives there and embarrassed him anyways.
The rest of the family was honestly super easy after that.
Except for Viktor.
Turns out, he’s very protective of his family and will Beat Your Ass for his brother.
Luckily, he approves.
Idk what else to say so uuuuhhhh….
He loves you and you have changed his life for the better. He can’t imagine a life without you and he doesn’t want to. He just loves you so much.

Spoilers For S2E1!
(Some of Comic Spoilers too)
I said I would probably most a more spoiler discussion post so let’s go!
Alright let’s start with the intro. In the intro we’re introduced with a Mark that eventually saw his dads view and helped take over Earth with him. I wonder, how long did it take to convince him? Was it before he got beat by Omni Man? Was it after? How long has it been since he took his dads side?
We know that The Immortal went straight after Omni Man once he was resurrected, and I assume the events of Omni Man killing his coworkers were the same. Or maybe he didn’t kill them yet and that’s why Mark was more susceptible to join him? It’s just weird it would take so long as we’re led to know an underground bunker has been made and that Rex died fighting already. Plus Eve has a new look which shows the passage of time.
Its very curious to me how Mark acted in this universe. He seemed just like ours and yet was so cruel. He genuinely thought he was in the right and wanted Eve to join him so bad. He didn’t even kill her, just paralyzed her and said he would visit. Did he see her as a pet? The way Omni Man claimed he did with Debbie? What even happened to Debbie? Was this one in favour of Omni Man and that’s why it seemed much easier to get Mark to be on the Viltrimites side?
What also surprised me was the fact that the act of Mark being good, of not taking his fathers side, was rare in the multiverse. Usually the main character is good in most other universes and is bad in a few. Like Superman for example, who’s a hero in most, but still feels like he’s a monster for being a villain in a few. Usually I’m not a fan of the hero mc being upset over being a villain because it’s not that many universes and obviously they wouldn’t be good in all of them, but for Mark it’s different. In his world, him being good is in the minority. He’s so worried about turning into his father and now he has actual proof that it’s so easy for it to happen. I feel like the fact he’s mostly bad in different universes works wayyy better and actually let’s the audience not roll their eyes over one or two evil versions.
The bit with The Immortal being wary of Mark will definitely show up again once all his other selves join the fight. I wonder if that’s what happened in the version we saw at the beginning too; if that Mark was trying to move on like ours, but in this case he actually did follow his fathers path.
Loving Angstrom so far too. I love how you can already see the complexity and insanity in his character. We know that Marks killed many in the different universes where he exists. We know he knows this. We also know he knows that our Mark is good. And yet, after he WILLINGLY sabotages himself he blames our Mark for everything. For killing so many people. We even see how he went from cool and collected, from being a pacifist who knows that Mark is good and doesn’t deserve to die, to be a cold bloodthirsty genius wanting revenge.
It wasn’t even that Mark was brutal towards the Mauler Twins and co. We don’t see him draw ANY blood from them, even though he easily can as we see him crush The Immortals head in the intro. He’s intentionally holding himself back to not actually hurt them, and Angstrom can see this. I think this was done intentionally to show the viewer how not-at-fault Mark was, and how he doesn’t deserve whatever’s coming. He doesn’t even fight anyone else until the end. I can just tell Mark is gonna have a rough ass time in this season. Boy is just suffering and is gonna face hell itself only a month after his dad tried to kill him.
I know some plot points of the comics, but not much than knowing the events, and so I know there will be a big Invincible fight, but I don’t know what will make them all agree to try to kill our Mark. I also know that Mark gets a new suit eventually; a black and blue suit. The new title card starts with covering the whole thing in blood, and then we see a crack of blue starting. I think what they’re gonna do is reveal the title card in the color scheme of his new suit by the end of the series. I don’t know when exactly he gets his new suit, but I think it’ll probably be in the last episode. You can kinda see the lettering on his name being black in the title card, and I think it breaking away to reveal his new suit scheme will be really cool.
This episode, while not super exciting, was great at setting up the atmosphere and feelings Mark and Debbie are going through. It’s good at showing how much everyone else has moved on compared to them, because they were the most effected. It also handled the main villain lead up super good. Villains being unhinged is always amazing. Especially when we can understand why he wants to kill Mark in general, but doesn’t have any reason to kill our Mark specifically. Can’t wait for the new episode next week!

@advnterccs sent:
After the few hours were up, Rick immediately portaled his way over to his counterpart. He snuck up behind him, covered his eyes with his hands. "Trust me, j-just follow me, okay?" Only to lead him through another portal.
They were in the middle of the dining room and he uncovered those eyes. The lights were off, the room illuminated by the candles in the middle of the table. The dining table was covered in rose petals. Two freshly cooked meals were at the table. A little fancy and something home-made.
His hands dropped onto those shoulders, squeezing gently. "I-I hope this can make up for me forgetting about the gift, y-you might not think it's nothing, but shit, I feel really fucking bad," He whispered. "So let me treat you like a fucking king for the rest of the day, alright, I-I even baked you a cake."
He snorted. "Don't worry, I-I'm not going to sing you happy birthday, we'll just cut the cake and eat it."
{ To your Rick from my Rick !! // special candlelight dinner date for them uwu }
Tumblr media
Those two hands covering his eyes out of the blue startled Rick. It wasn't that he hadn't believed his counterpart when he had said that he would make it up to him. He did believe him, because he knew that his other self meant it, but that was the problem. So, he had hoped, foolishly, that the whole ordeal would just be forgotten.
So, after leaving his boyfriend's house, he had settled in one of the most superficial levels of his underground lab, drinking away the time as he moved from one project to the next, failing to find something that could hold his attention. He had thought that putting some physical distance between them would have made suppressing the urge to apologise easier, but it had soon became evident that this too had been wistful thinking.
"R-Rick..." He started, but all the other words he wanted to say died on his tongue. The love of his life was asking him to trust him. How could he deny him when this was the only being in existence he would trust with everything?
Teeth sinking in his tongue to keep himself quiet, Rick allowed himself to be guided, distractedly recognising the tingling of a portal on his skin as they crossed the space-continuum to land back in hs boyfriend's living room.
Under other circumstances, the little spectacle that welcomed him once he was allowed to see again would have made him melt. The living room had been transformed into an almost dreamy location, with the soft glow of the candle and the faint scent of the rose petals filling the air. The food that was waiting for them looked absolutely delicious, even more with the knowledge that his counterpart had cooked everything himself, just for him.
It was beautiful, it was touching, it was perfect.
However, that just made Rick feel like the biggest asshole of the multiverse. And when his other self confessed that he was feeling bad because of something he had done, his beliefs were confirmed. His boyfriend had been planning on just ignoring the day and not only he had forced the other to acknowledge it, but him feeling like he had to go through all this trouble was also on him.
He had been so stupid. He should have known better. Why had he thought that they should celebrate their birthday when their lives were feeling even emptier than before?
Yet, he knew that he couldn't speak his real thoughts, nor showing his true feelings. The guilt, the self-loathing, the anger, the frustration. He had to hide them, not to make it even worse, not to hurt the love of his life even more than he had already done.
Conjuring his best smile was as painful as swallowing a handful of glass shards, but he managed anyway and he made himself take his boyfriend's hand, so he could drop a kiss on his palm.
Tumblr media
"B-Baby, you have nothing to apologise for. I-I promise." I should be the one apologising. "T-This is fuckin' amazing. Y-You are fuckin' amazing." I don't deserve you, not when I can't get even the smallest thing right. "T-Thank you, Rick. F-For real." I'm so fucking sorry. "I-I couldn't have asked for anything better."
He even managed to push out a believably amused laugh at his other self's joke, leaning into him as he was guided towards his spot at the table.
He would power through the whole night, making sure that his counterpart saw nothing but him having a good time. Once he would be once again alone in his lab, then and only then he would have let out the bile that was clogging his throat and lungs.

Some changes I'd make to Bayonetta's story
Tumblr media
For so long, I was pretty disappointed by the story aspect of Bayonetta, and fans would essentially tell me that the game was more designed for gameplay rather than story content. As someone who plays for story (primarily), I didn't understand why we were given such a cool concept if it would be phoned in. This made me want to make some changes.
Tumblr media
Bayonetta 1. Explain more info on the culture of the witches/sages. I imagine that if they're gender-specific, then they typically procreate with humans (or maybe other supernatural creatures; that'd be cool) and the daughters of sages and sons of witches are left with their human parents. 2. Show more of Bayonetta's past, not just her friendship with Jeanne. 3. Make it so that Jeanne, Bayonetta, and Balder aren't the only witches and sage in the world; make the clans go into hiding following the war and having suffered many casualties, secretly plotting against each other. This will be important in B3. For most of this game though, Bayonetta is battling other sages, along with a few witches who want to control/recover the Eyes of the World. 4. Give us other creatures to contend with outside of angels and demons, ones that stay within the human realm. 5. Make Luka actually matter. I like him, but his whole "revenge for my father" thing doesn't really work because nothing he does will ever harm Bayonetta or Balder. Maybe make him a human immune to demon/angel attacks, or one of the other species I mentioned? Maybe the king of fairies like Lukaon?
Tumblr media
Bayonetta 2 1. Let Loki actually be a force to be reckoned with. While he can stand his own against some angels, he can't do anything against bosses, which is pretty underwhelming, given his power. Plus I'd probably nix the amnesia arc; it's Bayonetta 2.0. And maybe make him a bit less brash; Bayonetta is just as cheeky as him, but much more sophisticated. Make him a bit more charming to match his mischievous side. 2. Remove young Balder, but involve more witches/sages to discover/recruit/battle against. It'd be mostly witches if we go to Inferno, though Loptr has recruited/brainwashed sages. We can still get more flashbacks of Bayonetta's life, though! 3. Have most of the game take place in Inferno, resulting in the 80% witch/demon and 20% sage/angel battle and recruit ratio. 4. Have Bayonetta battle against Sheba following her journey into Inferno, either because the demon/witch alliance is fluctuating, or because some sages are on Bayonetta's side at this point. 5. Have something between Luka and Bayonetta form here, assuming they're still going to go the romantic route in B3. 6. Show Bayonetta and Jeanne in their daily lives. Having Jeanne as a high school teacher would be so cool, along with seeing if they have friends outside of their battle group.
Tumblr media
Bayonetta 3 1. Untether the multiverse story. It comes out of nowhere, with no buildup from the other games. Instead have Singularity incite another war between sages and witches, hoping to wipe them all out, noting that his ability to traverse other universes after destroying ours. He'd also be scoping out sons of witches and daughters of sages to reveal their true identity and manipulate their pain and hatred. I'm essentially nixing the sci-fi stuff; he's a supernatural being, not an artifical human. Maybe mention that he uses Purgatorio in order to traverse through different multiverses. The battle would be Bayonetta and allies against witches and sages in equal measure--though perhaps certain bosses include the sons of witches and daughters of sages who are hurt for being cast aside. 2. Give Viola a better design. Granted, everyone except Jeanne has a rather drab color scheme, but Viola's whole look is too busy! Personal preference. I also like the idea that Loki/Aesir is the one who brought her to present day. 3. Allow Bayonetta/Luka/Jeanne to take on different forms; even if they're not traversing the multiverse, I like the idea of them calling upon their alternate selves' powers to save their universe. 4. Make Viola Jeanne's daughter. I'm mainly saying this because of their hair similarity, but I like the idea that the next generation has to do with Jeanne rather than her Umbra sister. Her father is undisclosed. Kinda like the idea of Luka asking Bayonetta if Viola is hers and we get a callback to "raising children vs making a baby" from B1. 5. The story ends with the decimation of both clans--seemingly. In reality, the witches and sages now integrate themselves into society largely made up of the Umbran Warlocks and Lumen Sages (daughters), continuing to influence them, though the sage vs witch war has made them want to focus on rebuilding themselves rather than picking fights, sparking hope for unity (albeit separate unity, similar to before).

How about I talk abt Dos a little since I so rarely do despite the fact I think of him often.
So, I've identified him as being from "glitchfell", but tbth I should really...change that. And just identify him as Glitched!Fell Papyrus or something, since his AU was actually destroyed a while ago. (Or maybe I can think up an alternate version where is wasn't destroyed but just super fucked up, which would actually be neat wait hold on I'll do that-)
Anyway. It was actually Dos that destroyed it! Entirely unintentionally but eh, whadya gunna do about it right? /j Gaster seriously messed up in the process of trying to make him, and when he shattered, permanently fractured Dos' code, which makes him, well, glitchy! Due to that, the DT, and part of his soul being attached to the void, it's near impossible for him to die or be killed despite how messed up he is, so inevitably, during a severe episode of destabilization when he was about tween-age, he tore a hole in his AU as he was violently glitched from it, which caused its immediate collapse shortly after.
The glitches are exacerbated by stress – the more unstable he is mentally, the more he is physically. So once he came to in a different Fell type AU, in a lot of pain and disorientation, it wasn't long before he glitched again. Thankfully, he doesn't usually collapse entire verses like his own, since his own code isn't part of the whole, but still, he can damage a universes code if the glitch is severe enough.
The following years were rough, since he usually found himself in Fell verses as his code most closely aligned with theirs and made the connection easier. He couldn't develop any bonds as he'd usually wind up glitching out of the verse soon anyway, on top of how difficult it generally is to forge good ones in a Fell universe in the first place. He bounced around a lot, slowing as he got older and gained better control of himself and his emotional state. But still, his soul was too unstable to ever fully control via just free will.
From that point, his story can split off into several different iterations I've explored. The most explored one is where he gets captured by a character called "The Collector" who seeks out strange or unique beings across the multiverse to keep or sell/rent. He’s absolutely abhorrent, and if he exists in a story then so does "The Council" (the guys Void works with), so at least he’s not just wreaking havoc willy nilly, but still. He’s incredibly smart and capable and somehow manages to always slip between fingers, so they've never caught him.
In that iteration, Dos is one of his favored "pieces", so he only rents him, even going as far as doing his own experiments to see what makes him tick. Due to the fact he travels outside proper universes via pocket dimensions, the constant changing of hands (and a glitch proof collar), and a cocktail of drugs to keep him relaxed enough not to damage himself too much, Dos can't escape, willingly or not.
Although, by that point, he doesn't. He’s hurt a great number of monsters and universes because of his inability to control the glitching, so despite how horrid the living conditions are, he thinks it's better that way, where he can't accidentally hurt anyone anymore.
Again, in this iteration, usually he's eventually freed, amongst a group of a few other "pieces", by members or allies of the council, including none other than Void himself. Sometimes depending on what I'm vibing with, they've met before, but sometimes they haven't, which can determine how long it takes for Dos to accept their help.
Thankfully, they've got quite a number of smart cookies on their team, and can eventually make a device and medication that Dos can take to help manage his glitching. That, on top of shuffling every so often between a few different AUs, keeps him from having serious episodes.
Those are the implications at the end of that Patch and Void fic btw!! That version of HT is one of the first verses Void asks to "provide a safe space" for Dos during recovery.
Speaking of, Void can also manually negate Dos' episodes, which is what leads to their eventual partnership! By that point, he’s become quite a good friend to Dos, and helped him a lot both physically and mentally. It also helps Dos recover to help Void help others, on top of learning more practical, common skills he never had the chance to before since he was so young when everything got so out of control.
All in all, he’s sooo messed up, but with time, he reorients quite well! He’s a big sweetie, even if he’s also kind of tsundere abt it ahdjjskskf
And for some reason, I associate him strongly with otters the end <3

🪄thoughts on Dr Strange: Multiverse of Madness🪄 long post and will contain spoilers under the read more
Disclaimer: I enjoyed the movie but this somewhat review will contain some major criticisms.
When Martin Scorsese said MCU films aren’t real cinema, and the MCU fans consume films like one would enjoy a theme park. I don’t think he’s wrong but I don’t fully agree with him either, but, MoM is the best example (if there was any). I’m not sure how to properly put this into words. I’ll give it a few days to see if I can do this thought justice. But know that I genuinely think MoM is the best example for this opinion.
Goddamn that plot was MESSY. Three act structure whomst???? (Extremely derogatory). My film studies teacher would have destroyed that script, gave it a D- and a whole month to rework it because that’s how much time it would need. There’s a Lad Bible interview Cumberbatch and Olsen did. They were describing how often things would change, how the morning of the shoot they would get brand new info. It’s very evident in the pacing of the movie.
MoM would need a 6-episode show, with 45-60 whole minute per ep, to fully do justice to the characters. The lack of character development, or effective character development was a little sad. The pacing is my biggest issues with this movie because they’re just bringing in SO many things into one film when they cannot afford that rn
It’s basically a horror movie in a lot of ways. It was visually stunning and absolutely lovely in so many ways. The music!! (And that fight scene w the music ohmygod) I love it.
Spoilers here on out.
Dr Strange, sir, I’m sorry this wasn’t your movie. Literally so many things happened, I wish I got to see how you processed the snap and the “dust for 5 years” thing. I’m glad you gave us a better quote to express love I love you 3000 was kinda ????, (like a friend said, it’s superior). “I’d love you in any universe” was wonderful (and I might get the exact wording wrong, sue me, I’m still drunk)
WONG MY BELOVED. You deserve to be Sorcerer Supreme!! Ur amazing and can do no wrong. Beloved <3
America Chavez!! You’re super cool and I cannot wait to see the cool shit you do. But also, I’m going to acknowledge that they’re brining a new character without putting in the work? To me it seems like they introduced her with no personality and a tragic back story. Do MCU women have any real backstory other than “a tragic event thats entirely (female characters) fault or something they should feel shame/take blame for?”
Replacing Irondad-Spiderson with a Strange & Chavez, Father-Daughter relationship I see. It’s cute, fanfics will be fun. Can’t wait to block the inevitable ship name.
Christine, I’m glad that in every universe, you’re prioritising yourself and your sanity instead of dating a man too afraid to be vulnerable. Good for you, girl!!
WANDA. I have so many thoughts!! You might get your own post??? She’s so powerful, I love it. Even though I think it was a horrible way to show her power, watching her destroy the Illuminati was awesome. The whole bit where she used her Intelligence and the reflections was a 11/10 better way to show her formidable nature. I think there’s some major cognitive dissonance in her motives. If she knows that she can create her own world through sheer emotions, then why would she need to go to another universe??? If you’re telling me she feels guilt, and that’s why she won’t hurt the humans on earth-616, then how do you explain her being ok with taking away another Wanda’s babies for herself? Anyway. Thinking thoughts. Feel free to explain I guess? Idk.
The fucking Illuminati!!!!!!!!!! This is a whole thing bro
First of all, REED RICHARDS??? THEY KEPT KRASINSKI’S CASTING HIDDEN?? Alleged Tom Cruise was a fucking phenomenal distraction, I’m in AWE. Andrew Garfield could NEVER!!!! Everyone else on that cast list we had strong inklings but ufh Mr. Fantastic that was GG as fuck. (Also I think I read Tom Cruise and Haley Attwell were dating so maybe the whole Tom Cruise Ironman came from him visiting her on set? Idk)
Now to shit on it.
You’re telling me the smartest man in their universe, Who voted on killing their Strange for Dreamwalking the darkhold magic, didn’t anticipate Scarlet Witch’s power????? Even if he did anticipate it, why would you tell her about Black Bolt’s power!!! God that was DUMB. Good to see u Mr. Jim Kraskinski but you deserve to be noodle string cheesed. The fam service is great tho, and I really hope we see Kraskinski-Blunt and Evans in a new Fantastic 4 movie
CAPTAIN CARTER I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!! Thank you for not bringing Steve into her narrative in any way what so ever. Thank you for the “I can do this all day” It’s lovely!!!! She’s Amazing and strong, but like I said killing her off was just meh move. I like that you did it that way? But idk,,, I want to see more of her so maybe Marvel will listen to their fans again and give us more!!!
Black Bolt, why did I think Ben Affleck played you?? You died in a super fucked up way and honestly, thank you for that. Your death was refreshing and will scar at least one (1) child, and idk if that’s a good thing but, parents definitely need to adhere to the movie ratings on this one.
PROFESSOR X!! I love you, I missed you, you were dressed like your husband (Mr. Magneto) when you died why was that??? I hate that Wanda killed you but I missed you. So much. I love you.
CAP MARVEL MARIA YOUR AWESOME but I wanna see more of you also if ur Cap then where Carol and did you still have a kid? What happened?? I wanna see more!!!!!!
Okay I think that’s mostly it. Closing notes, could do better, y’all threw character development out of the window. Randomly introducing new powers, characters and strengths is a little weak in terms of writing. Employee foreshadowing instead of expecting your fans to watch over 20 hours of content. It was good but you could do a lot better.
I will not watch it in the movies again, and I watch NWH like 3 times full priced tix.

Thoughts on Multiverse of Madness (contains major spoilers!!!)
- I’ll start by saying over all, I liked it. It was fun, crazy, definitely visually stunning and captivating, it some insanely awesome scenes. It was very enjoyable. BUT I had some big issues with it.
- first, I feel like it was rushed in the beginning. Things went too fast and there was no build up, it was just kinda like “hey this is happening” and it was especially that way with Wanda’s villain arc and I’ll be talking about her first.
- literally it was so rushed and felt ooc because it was right off the bat. Her villainy and motivations originally felt very shallow. It was all so surface level and lacking for like the first half of the movie. Once again, she felt so out of character to me, like it wasn’t even the same character I know and love.
- I will say though that it was FUCKING AWESOME to see what she was capable of. I lived for seeing her power be so great and loved that the movie gradually continued to show us more of her ability. Seriously, the further in we got, the more awesome she was.
- also will say that I liked it being pretty comics book accurate.
- however, I really just don’t understand why they chose this story line for her. It was so unnecessary and undid every bit of character development in Wandavision. It would have been better if there was some kind of build up to her realizing what she could have from America’s powers and she’d slowly getting more corrupt. But she went villainous off screen and it was shown within the first few minutes of the movie. I didn’t expect it to happen so quick. And I understand the whole thing of her being corrupted by the dark hold, but that just felt like a cop out. An easy way to justify making her like this when there was potential for real depth and dimension here.
- also gotta say I LOVED HER BREAKING THE 4TH WALL
- but, towards the end, there were some real good character moments for Wanda. The line of“I wouldn’t ever hurt you, I wouldn’t hurt anyone. I’m not a monster.” hit so hard. And just that whole scene in general. It made me feel so much, and honestly it was super in character and very well done. I loved it.
- but I’ve gotta say I’m kinda surprised they didn’t make Vision a more important point here. I know she let him go in WV but if they were gonna undo most of that development anyways, why would she not care more about him. Like really, if she’s going to a new reality where her kids exist, why would she not go to one where she has her kids AND vision. It doesn’t make sense and that would be infinitely more in character.
- I also don’t think she’s dead. There’s no way in hell she is. 1. If she actually was, it’d be much more emotional, especially since she’s such a well liked and huge character. It has almost no emotion to it, even less than previous mcu “death” scenes where the character turns up later (ie. Bucky, Loki, etc.) 2. They wouldn’t kill off one of their most popular and most profitable characters, especially not in her prime time. This is Wanda’s golden area, the hype is all hers, she’s pulling in awards, she’s getting tons of talk. She’s too valuable for the mcu to lose.
- now, I do like what they did with strange here. I feel like they have him a lot more depth and made him much more likable than before. Not that he was unlikeable, but more so you feel more connected to him after this movie, like you got to know him.
- I love that they took his worst traits and exaggerated them in his variants. Why? Because it’s very interesting to see this cool, all powerful superhero, humbled and not be portrayed as perfect by the narrative.
- But even more than that, it shows that you don’t have to be perfect to be good. It’s all about what you chose and how you try to be, and owning up to your mistakes. Because even though the other Stranges weren’t so great, our Strange made the right choice and did the right thing over and over again. He tried to be the best he could and proved everyone who doubted him for his flaws, completely wrong.
- I also liked seeing the more emotional side of him. I liked seeing have so much love for Christine, but putting hers and everyone else’s best interest above his deepest desire.
- I also really really loved the father-daughter like thing he had going on with America. Some may see it as more of just a mentorship or something, but I definitely feel that parent relationship and I could feel that he really cared for her. It reminds me of Tony and Peter, but 10x better.
- I have mixed feelings on the reveal of Donna. Idk. I do like the insight it gave us into his character. But I feel that it was dropped to quickly and it was a shame it wasn’t explored just a bit more. It almost felt random and irrelevant. Like yes, I do get the thing of them both saying “we don’t talk about that.” and it showing how much Strange bottles up inside (kinda a small theme in this movie, hm?). I like that and I felt so bad for him when he said “I couldn’t protect her.” But also I just wish there was more of a pay off to it, I just wish it didn’t feel so misplaced because it could’ve had more impact.
- also liked the growth of his magic in this, he had quite a few new tricks up his sleeve.
- I’m very curious about what the screaming was at the end. Also wondering about the end credits, when he suddenly was fine? Was that a time jump, different Strange? Also curious to see where his character is going from here and how it’s going to play into the bigger part of the phases 4 and 5 of the mcu.
- also super cool that we have a new character introduced that I’d never heard of till today and I wonder what role Clea is gonna play from here on out.
- speaking of new characters, I fucking loved America. Like love love love love loved that girl. God she was such a little sweetheart. Her powers are awesome for one, but who she is is awesome too.
- I think she had great development in this movie, I loved that they made her not be able to control her powers. Is it a bit cliche? Maybe, but they made it work so fucking well. I felt for her, because she couldn’t help any of this, she was just a young and innocent girl who was scared but tried to be brave anyways.
- my heart hurt for her when she said she killed her parents. imagine, growing up with that heavy of guilt and fear of your own capabilities. That poor bby. 💔
- but once again, loved the relationship she built with Strange. I also love how as time went on, he helped her have more faith in herself and really gave her that needed boost of confidence. But fuck, I also felt terrible when she was going to sacrifice herself. She’s such a sweet kid omfg.
- also, I love love love love that she had the idea to show Wanda the horror of what she actually wanted. America sat up that powerful moment. Her badass fighting scene was followed up seamlessly with one so emotional.
- also love her spunk, and sass, and she was so cute trying to learn other magic and in her robes. I’m so excited to see more of her in the future.
- I was so worried about the cameos in this movie. Like going in, I was anxious that the movie would be relying too heavily on them….but I was wrong. It was very well done.
- first, I loved seeing John Krasinski as Reed Richards. I LOVED IT!!!! Like literally he was so perfect for that role and it was just fucking great. Perfect in all senses. (Also very sexy)
- Maria was a bad bitch, being the one to survive longest and gave Wanda a run for her money.
- I have mixed feelings about Captain Carter. I originally was not excited about her being in it because of the fact that she was such a huge role in “What If?” And I didn’t want a repeat of that. But I truthfully didn’t mind her too much in this.
- however, I fucking HATED!!!! AND I MEAN HATED!!!!! The fact that she said “i can do this all day.” No. No. No. No. No. I will not accept that. I’m not even a big Steve stan, but that is his and only his to say and they should not have made her rip it off and take away the value. Steve says that iconic line so many times because he was a disable bullied kid, showing his bravery and putting up with hell to stand for what he believed in. Peggy Carter was not that. She’s not the same.
- also I just don’t even really understand why she was a part of the Illuminati in the first place because she is way less powerful compared to all the other characters that surrounded her. Also don’t understand how she didn’t die sooner. I feel like they just wanted to give her as much screen time as possible here but I don’t feel like she should’ve been an Illuminati member at all because realistically, there’s nothing that special about her to be in such a position. I didn’t mind her, but it would’ve been better to see a different character, especially since we already got our fill of Captain Carter in “What If?” and I feel like the more she pops up, the more it undermines Sam.
- anyways, continuing on, the scene where Professor X enters Wanda’s mind has to be one of the coolest fucking scenes in the entire mcu. It’s one of my new favorites.
- the visuals in this movie were just so good omg.
- also liked the further explanations of the dark hold and the souls of the damned. That was cool as was the antithesis, the book of Vishanti. Once again, the magic in this movie was amazing across the board.
- The cinematography was amazing too by the way. Not just the CGI but the way things were shot, the way it felt almost like a horror movie at some points, the way it was just so pleasing to the eye the entire time. I loved that.
- also i was kinda expecting Mephisto to appear at some point. I never have taken that seriously before but for the first time I actually wondered if he’d appear because of how much talk about the dark hold, the forging of the scarlet witch, etc.
- also was kinda thinking Shang-Chi was gonna make a cameo and Loki too but neither happened.
- last thing I can think of right now, is that I kinda wish we would’ve gotten another post-credits scene that had more connection to what’s coming up in the mcu. Bc that short little one about just what’s next for Strange, isn’t enough for me 😩. I fr was hoping for something new to freak out about.
That’s all.

Some Marle and Squares headcanons
I did take a bit of inspiration from @squares-the-cosmosrectangle, particularly with the whole "reaction to meat" thing.
Marle was the creation of the cosmic force she manifests, the Will of the Worlds.
Marle was pretty much the first living being to ever exist, if you could even call her that.
She was "born" with emotion, willpower, and a basic amount of knowledge. The same was true with Squares when he was "born".
It took several months, maybe even a few years, for Marle to gather the four energies of the universe so she could create Squares. Actually creating Squares was probably the quickest part, it’s just gathering the energies that took long.
Despite the feminine and masculine appearance (respectively), both Marle and Squares were "born" without a gender. Even still, they let people refer to them based on their appearance.
Because of this, both of them use they/them and it/its pronouns, on top of she/her and he/him (respectively).
They also lack navels, despite the human appearance.
Both Marle and Squares don't need to eat, drink, sleep, or otherwise sustain themselves like mortal beings (they don't get hungry or thirsty, either). They, however, eat and drink anyway whenever they want to.
Although they can't eat large amounts of meat because they'll get ill - small amounts are fine. While Marle can handle it better, both will feel woozy for quite a while.
Both of them can speak in telepathy, although they don't do it often.
Marle knows next to every language in the entire universe just from watching the worlds. Squares knows a good amount of languages and is actually quite fluent in English, but is more fluent in his and Marle's original ancient language.
Even though she doesn't play it all that much anymore, Marle's actually extremely good at Magical Drop. Just as much as, if not even more so, than Puyo Puyo.
Both of them sleep while levitating a couple feet off the ground.
Marle actually snores while she sleeps, and she can't pinpoint the reason why. Thankfully, it isn't very loud.
Squares plays with his tetrahedron (the small pink cube he sometimes summons in one of his hands which he can use as part of a spell) whenever he feels like it. He never grew out of it, even after the events of PuyoTet 2.
Any physical wounds or scars heal easily, save for one scar that Marle has on one of her legs (it was a battle scar, specifically during one puzzle match). It doesn't hurt now, but if she isn't wearing her stockings you would be able to see it.
Unlike Ex, who doesn't need to sustain himself and cna't die from illness, Marle and Squares are truly immortal. Like, they don't age at all (not physically, at least) and are immune to dying.
When they suffocate, they simply pass out and wake up later once there is air like nothing ever happened.
Dark Marle's hair is filled with enough static electricity to power a large city, if you could even convince her to do something like that anyway (I dunno why, I just got the idea from the fact that her hair has lightning motifs).
You may know when Marle is unconscious or asleep when her curled cowlick uncurls. Similarly, the tip of Squares' cowlick loses its cyan color while asleep.
The rings in Squares' eyes are always visible, but they're extremely faint when he isn't using his powers.
The only reason why Squares (and by extension, Dark Marle) is known as "the Dimensional Parasite", it was simply due to how people barely knew him when his existence first became known to the multiverse (around the time people stopped hearing about Marle). The relatively early multiverse only knew two things about him: he was Marle's brother, and he had the power to absorb power and/or energy from anywhere. And then the title stuck. And then he and Marle became forgotten about for the longest time...

A Sibling Heart-to-Heart: Dimentio x Reader
My entry for @thereaderinsertlady‘s Underrated Character Event. This is my first ever real published fanfic. Feedback is appreciated but please have mercy. Also please know that this is less of a traditional X Reader and more of a “How would Dimentio and Shadoo cope after the reader saved them?” I’m a sucker for hurt-comfort and I will not apologize.
“You shall return to me, accursed Shayde. There is no escape. You shall pay for your actions. And they shall pay with you…”
Dimentio awoke with a gasp as he’d grown well accustomed to in the past few months. As the horrific image of the Underwhere retreated once more from his waking mind, he yawned and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Once upon a time, even this relatively tame nightmare would have him screaming and sobbing until Shadoo and/or [Y/N] came to console him from his hysterics, but he was pleased to find that, as with all things in his long, long life, he’d gradually grown desensitized to even these nightly trips back down to the depths. At least, his waking self had. If only his dream self would grow bored of his futile pleas for mercy then the whole matter would be settled. But then again, it isn’t like his real self had ever grown numb to what he’d suffered down there…
Brushing that unpleasant thought away before it could take root, Dimentio shuffled out of bed and began preparing for the day. No point in trying to sleep more, he’d just see her again, and the later he slept in and the more night terrors he had, the greater the odds of Shadoo sensing one. Then it’d be all “Dimi, why didn’t you tell me the nightmare wards aren’t working?” and when he explained that they actually are working because usually his dreams were much worse, she’d just give him that horrified look that had sadly stopped being hilarious after the fiftieth time. Alas, why must even the most lustrous of gems lose their shine with time?
Of course, what he really wanted to avoid was [Y/N] finding out. They never took well to hearing about any slight misfortune he suffered. Their heart was soft like gourmet butter spread upon a warm English muffin, and they never seemed to understand that, compared to what he’d suffered in the Underwhere, even the most disastrous of events was as pleasant as a free trip to a luxury spa. But then, what did he expect? This was the magician who had seen the would-be destroyer of reality serving his just sentence in the Underwhere and been mortified by what they saw. The one who had offered their own soul as collateral in exchange for his freedom. The one who would be dragged down to the depths along with him if he ever set a toe out of line again.
They hadn’t been lovers then. He’d have understood if they were. Knowing [Y/N], he’d have even understood if they were complete strangers. But they knew who he was. The whole multiverse did. And yet, they’d rescued him, taken him in, and nursed him back to health and sanity despite his constant protests. They’d even tracked down the sister he’d long thought game-overed. They truly believed that, given the chance, he could do better. He could be better.
So, naturally, he’d fallen madly in love with them.
Dimentio had such mixed feelings about his new lover’s sweet and gentle nature. On one hand, he could think of no one better suited to lead his literally damned soul to redemption than someone who was nothing less than a Nimbi themself. The thought that they might be his new destiny, fate’s way of amending the damage inflicted upon his mind by that accursed book, comforted him more than he dared to speak aloud.
And yet…
Dimentio wasn’t blind to his sins. He held no delusions that his actions, no matter how necessary and justified, were anything less than vile, despicable, sadistic, and unforgivable in the eyes of all who saw him. He knew perfectly well that his soft-hearted darling would never look him in the eyes again if they knew the true depths of his villainy. His mere presence defiled their purity. He had no more business by their side than he had in the Overthere itself. He was their antithesis in every conceivable way.
They wanted to save worlds, he wanted to destroy them.
They were a Nimbi.
And he was a Shayde.
Dimentio glared at his reflection in the mirror. As charming and handsome as ever, but of course it was a lie. This body he now resided in was nothing but an artificial shell, created by [Y/N]’s magic in the image of how he’d looked in life. It changed nothing of what was inside. His soul was still cursed, its fate sealed not by Queen Jaydes’ judgement, but 3,000 years ago by destiny itself and the book that had dubbed him the Dark One. No amount of magical makeovers could change the fact that he was a game-overed man walking. And it certainly couldn’t change how eager Queen Jaydes was to bring him back under her nonexistent mercy, and drag the savior who’d dared to steal him from her right down with him.
With a bitter scowl, Dimentio slammed a fist into the mirror… only to yelp and cuss as he shook out his now throbbing hand. The mirror, of course, was completely unharmed. Artificial as his new form may be, it was still just as physically weak and frail as the rest of his former tribe. Now feeling embarrassed on top of everything else, Dimentio stomped down the stairs, muttering things that brought new meaning to the phrase “pardon my French.”
“You really need to stop this daily brooding, it’s making you grumpy,” commented a voice in his head that was definitely NOT his own.
“Get out of my head, Shadoo,” Dimentio snapped, doing his absolute best to give the mental impression of a death glare in his sister’s general direction.
Dimentio somehow felt his sister mentally rolling her eyes at him. “Well don’t brood so loud then. I can’t hear my own thoughts over yours.”
Dimentio was not in the mood for this. Time to take things out of her domain and into his own. With a wave of his hand, Dimentio tore open a cubic portal in space, on the other side of which the entire rest of his tribe was sitting at a table eating cereal. Shadoo shot him a deadpan look. “Dimi, the dining room is 5 feet away from you.”
“Well then come out here and roll your eyes at me in person instead invading my brain like a catchy advertising jingle for cheap bubblegum,” Dimentio huffed, stepping through the portal and grabbing the box of cereal with indignity.
If there was one singular thing Dimentio could thank the Pure Hearts for, it was restoring his sister to her true form. The teenager was back to how she was in life, as though the past 3,000 years had never happened. Dimentio didn’t know why or how the Pure Hearts had restored her, but apparently they’d also somehow restored the lost Nimbi princess, as Queen Jaydes had taken great joy in rubbing in his face. No doubt they’d also whisked the count and his fiancée away to the safety of some far off world and even restored her to her human form for good measure. Miracles abound, happy endings for everyone. Whoopdie-tap-dancing-doo.
“So…. what’s wrong?” Shadoo asked, watching Dimentio pour entirely too much cereal into the bowl she’d set out for him.
Dimentio glared back at her, taking care to completely empty his mind. The question was a trap, she obviously didn’t expect him to answer. However, she would be quick to snap up any thought that flickered through his mind as a result. “Nothing you need to worry about, Shady.”
“Of course,” Shadoo deadpanned, raising an eyebrow. “That’s why you won’t let me see any of your thoughts. Because nothing’s wrong.”
“Or perhaps I simply don’t want my nosey little sister digging around in my brain like a shopper searching for something watchable at the bottom of the discount movie bin,” Dimentio snapped, teleporting a milk jug from the fridge.
“I only read your mind because you read my diary,” Shadoo chided with a sassy wave of her spoon.
“I only read your diary because you read my mind,”  Dimentio countered. “How else could I level this horrendously uneven playing field between us?”
“Level the playing field?” Shadoo frowned, tilting her head in confusion. “I can read minds and create illusions. You have a whole private dimension full of things I can’t reach even if I know about them. How do you think I have the advantage?”
Dimentio smirked, resting his head on a floating fist as he took up a spoonful of cereal. “My dear sister, on the battlefield of sibling rivalry,  do you really think my little secret hideaway trumps your ability to know my every embarrassing thought?”
Shadoo thought for a moment, then shrugged. “Touché,” she conceded, before taking a bite of her cereal.
For a few moments, the two ate in companionable silence. Then, Shadoo ruined it. “It’s about [Y/N], isn’t it?”
“Could I have my thoughts to myself for five minutes?!” Dimentio shouted, nearly spilling his cereal.
Shadoo smirked. “I wasn’t reading your mind. It was obvious. But thank you for confirming.”
Dimentio growled at Shadoo, filling every ounce of his mental capacity with a vivid image of an obscene gesture. Unfortunately this only seemed to make Shadoo even more smug, and she grinned wickedly at him as she stood to take her now empty bowl to the sink. “You really like them, don’t you brother dear?”
“Shadoo, we are both over 3,000 years old. Don’t you have anything better to do than to gossip about who I ‘like?’” Dimentio sneered.
“If we’re so very old, then why are you moping around your room like an angsty teenager?” Shadoo countered, radiating victory as she rinsed her bowl.
Dimentio allowed the smallest mental space for him to be annoyed with himself. She was right. She was right and he hated it. This wasn’t him. The brother she grew up with was suave, collected, and always in control. Time had only heightened that trait, as even the most shocking of events lost its edge in the grand scheme of all he’d been through. He’d even faced the agony of game-overing with a spiteful grin, and now here he was, as emotional as a high school girl sobbing on the school staircase after catching her prom date making out with her best friend. Stars above, when did he become so weak?
Oh right. When he had them, of course. [Y/N] and Shadoo. It had been 3,000 years since he’d last cared about literally anything, and now he had two. His mask was getting ripped off, and he no longer recognized the person underneath it.
“Dimi…” Shadoo cooed soothingly, no doubt sensing his frustration as she approached him and gently rubbed his back. “You know you can tell me anything. I understand what you’re going through.”
Whoops.
Before either sibling could process what happened, Shadoo was knocked to the floor, with Dimentio standing over her. Shadoo stared up at him with a mixture of shock, indignation, and caution in her mismatched eyes. Dimentio in turn stared back down at her, his signature grin slowly returning to its rightful place on his face as something began to unravel deep inside him. Something that he’d kept tightly wrapped for months. It almost felt good to let loose again.
“Dim-” Shadoo started, only to be interrupted by a low chuckle from her brother. A chuckle that grew and grew into a mad, uncontrolled cackle. Shadoo’s eyes widened and she shuffled back slightly as her stomach dropped.
“Oh, so you understand me, do you, Your Highness?” Dimentio sneered.
Shadoo winced, then scrambled to her feet, a bubbling fury beginning to fight back her unease. “Wha- How dare you!” she snapped back. “Don’t you dare call me that!”
“Aww, what’s wrong?” Dimentio cooed, a sadistic glint in his eyes. Some last screaming fragment of his rapidly drowning sanity told him he had no reason to antagonize his own sister like this. However, at the moment, he couldn’t help feeling a lot like how he had when he’d stood at the precipice of game-over and decided on a whim that all of reality should plummet with him. “Did I hit a sore spot? My, it must be oh-so-very hard being you, carrying the burden of a traumatic past that almost no one knows about or could ever hope to connect you to. Honestly, it’s a wonder you get out of bed every day, having to face a world that sees you as an ordinary teenage girl and nothing more. My poor, poor sister.”
Dimentio had barely finished his cruel taunt when he found himself now shoved to the ground in Shadoo’s place, his sister trembling above him as she struggled not to ruin her hateful glare by crying. Somehow, this only served to renew Dimentio’s crazed laughter. “I-i-is th-that what you think?!” Shadoo sputtered. “That this has been easy for me? I... D-do you think it’s easy knowing that I destroyed our tribe? I still have nightmares, same as you!”
“Oh PLEASE,” Dimentio huffed as he floated up off the floor. “That thing wasn’t even you. Your hands remain as clean as a collectable figurine saved unopened in its box and stored away forgotten in a dusty attic.” Dimentio narrowed his eyes, his grin suddenly slipping from his masklike face. “You couldn’t begin to understand.”
“Dimen-”
“Shut up.”
“No, I-”
“Shut up!”
“You shut up!”
“No, you!”
“Shut up, you stupid jerkwad!”
“Get out of my face, you obnoxious brat!”
“Self-absorbed buttface!”
“Go play with your imaginary shadow friends, you pest!”
“I’m telling father!”
“You’ve got nothing on me, you glorified goth wannabe!”
“FAAAAAAAAATHEEEEERRRRRRR!!!!”
Silence.
For what could have been two seconds or two years, the siblings merely stared at each other in increasing horror. Eventually, Dimentio took the lead, awkwardly clearing his throat as he dropped back from the air to his feet. ”A-anyway...”
Shadoo, still stunned in place, watched silently as her shaken brother returned to his seat and resumed blankly shoving soggy cereal into his mouth. Finally she shook her head, clearing her thoughts as she reclaimed her seat across from him. Shadoo stared directly into Dimentio’s eyes, fiery determination flashing in her own. “What don’t I understand?”
“Shubbub” Dimentio mumbled through a mouthful of cereal.
“Tell me, Dimi.”
“Mmmrrph!”
“Tell me!”
“For flip’s sake, Shadoo!” Dimentio slapped the table hard in frustration, once again yelping as his hand took far more abuse than the wood. He took a few seconds to scowl at Shadoo as though she were somehow responsible for his hand’s continued abuse. Shadoo, in turn, made no effort to hide her smirk.
“Despite your impressive efforts to convince me otherwise, I know you’re not stupid, Shady. It shouldn’t need to be said that your distant past sins pale before my present ones like a flickering candle held before an actively erupting volcano. One of us cannot leave this pocket dimension for fear of being brutally murdered by every sapient being in the entire multiverse, and the other one went shopping for cute dresses yesterday. We are not the same.”
Shadoo narrowed her eyes at Dimentio, and he could almost sense the indignation radiating off of her, as though she were offended he’d even think about downplaying his emotions around her. Mistress of Minds, indeed.
“That’s not what you’re upset about,” Shadoo stated plainly.
“Oh? It seems like perfectly valid reason to be upset to me,” Dimentio deadpanned in return.
“It would be, for most people. But you’re not most people.”
“I’m flattered.”
“You’re too stupid to be upset about that.”
“Well screw you too, dear sister.”
“I know you too well, Dimi. You’re a smug, over-confident, self-absorbed asshole. And the most powerful dimensional magician to ever live. You’re not upset about the angry mobs because you’ve probably already snuck out 12 times.”
“15 actually.”
“And I know it’s not just guilt because some part of you still thinks you were justified in everything.”
“I still don’t see how I landed in the Underwhere while that so-called count got to live happily ever after. I wasn’t the one who tried to trick a group of trauma victims into mass-murder-suicide by promising them their wildest dreams. I was at least going to give everyone what they wanted. And frankly with me controlling the Chaos Heart the-”
“Dimi.”
Dimentio blinked, then shoved the last of the soggy cereal in his mouth, making a point to casually stare at nothing off to the right so as to hide the blush rising on the pale side of his face.
“So what is it.”
“It’s nothing.”
“Dimi.”
“It’s none of your business!”
“I know it’s about [Y/N]!”
“YES IT’S ABOUT [Y/N]!” Dimentio snapped. “It’s about them and it’s about you!”
Shadoo winced slightly at the sudden outburst, but did not retreat, silently bidding him to continue as she watched him with sympathetic eyes.
“I don’t care what happens to me,” Dimentio sighed, teleporting his bowl to the sink with a snap of his fingers. “I’ve had 3,000 years to master the art of watching my own back, and if I do get recaptured then so be it. I’m not blind to what I am or what I’ve done, and I’m prepared to sleep in the bed I made no matter how many nails Queen Jaydes filled it with. I don’t regret my choices. I knew what the consequences would be when I made them.”
Shadoo nodded, hoping her brother couldn’t see the pain in her eyes. As much as she begged him to be more open with her, it always stung hearing him say such things when he was. Which sadly was probably why he usually wasn’t.
“But you two...” Dimentio finally returned his sister’s gaze. “You were not part of that decision. I had nothing to lose when I gambled my game to attain godhood. But now that I’ve already lost, I have two things. Two people at risk of paying my debt.”
Shadoo felt the table vibrating beneath her hands, and noticed that her brother had started trembling. His apathetic façade was rapidly falling apart, replaced by an expression of fear and despair she hadn’t seen since they’d put up that nightmare ward.
“Do you have any idea how scared I am every time you leave Dimension D? I can protect myself, but what about you? What about [Y/N]? What if someone figures out that you’re my sister, or that [Y/N] is my lover who dragged me from the Underwhere where everyone agrees I belong? What if an angry mob ends [Y/N]’s game and they get sent to the Underwhere in my place because rescuing me is the second worst sin imaginable, second only to being me?”
Dimentio’s eyes widened in growing hysteria.
“What if- What if I do something? Something bad? Bad enough to ruin that deal they made with Queen Jaydes? I’ve been the Dark One for 3,000 years, Shady, I don’t know how to be anything else! It would only take one second, one wrong move, one stupid thought and we’d both be screaming at the bottom of the River Twygz for all eternity. They don’t deserve it. I do but they don’t! And neither do you! You shouldn’t be in danger because of me! I’m just a walking timebomb ready to blow up everything I love and-”
Dimentio snapped out of his crazed ranting as he felt something press against him, and realized his sister was hugging him. Or... no, not Shadoo. She was still sitting across from him, giving him that smug grin she always wore when she tricked someone into confessing thoughts she already knew they had. So then who...?
“Dimentio...”
[Y/N].
“I’m sorry. I didn’t realize how scared you were. If you want we could discuss protective spells or regular check-ins or whatever will make you feel better. But I’m not worried about you, okay? I trust you. You’ve already come so far, and I’m so proud of you. You should be too.”
It was too much. How did they always know just what to say to break him? He was already exhausted from his outburst at Shadoo, and now this. Defeated, Dimentio buried his face against [Y/N] and quietly sobbed. He was just too tired to rebuild his shattered mask today.
“Thanks for calling me over.” [Y/N] shot Shadoo a conspiratorial smile.
Shadoo winked. “Thank you for taking care of my idiot brother. Perhaps we’ll make a functional adult of him yet.”

Shards of the Nexus: Applesauce pt. 4
Everybody tries.
@cardwrecks @captainbaddecisions
?~?~?~?~?
The time whizzed by as he wondered what he was going to do now.
“You baleful, deleterious, idle-brained douche bag! “
Oh. Die, that's what.
He turned just in time for Narci to grab him roughly by the shirt. The kid was shorter than him by a decent amount, but strong enough to twist his head off, and he felt his toes leave the floor.
“Hey, watch the threads!” he protested in a watery voice. Narci shook him like a rattle.
“Fuck your threads! I'll burn down your closet! I'll burn down your whole life!” Narci exclaimed, then shuddered so hard, his black ponytail shook. He set Swag back down, very carefully, and released his clothes. “I'm sorry. I didn't mean that. But just...how could you? You're supposed to be the best of us. How could you?”
“I'm not the best of anything, Narci.” Swag said, leaning against the bar to let his heart rest, ignoring the sticky mess that still dripped. “I'm not a role model. Not really. I'm a fuckup in good clothes. I mean, it's not that I don't try, it's that when I make mistakes, they are really big mistakes that get people hurt. Helix. Harvey. Puzzles. You. Fuck, I coulda done something for you, way back. But I turned you away. I was too busy pretending I had no obligation to anyone else but myself to see how everything was connected. That I could at least try to help someone who should have been like a little brother. I...the idea of me is far better than the actuality of me.”
“Swag. You know you couldn't have really done anything for me back then, right? I would have just killed you instead.” the wavering tone was back, a permanent feature in his voice. “Mine was a sickness that couldn't be cured with human hands. And part of me is missing now. I didn't come back whole. Maybe I'm better this way. But you...why did you hurt her? I don't understand that. Her hand is so badly burned that our medicines did nothing! She was crying so much, and she couldn't actually tell me. What did you do? And why?”
“It wasn't supposed to go down like this. It was supposed to...I don't even know. I never meant it to hurt her, I'd never...I'd never mean to do that. I just started thinking down the wrong road, and I got swept away. I try not to do that. It always goes bad. Now, I know a lot of you think I've allowed myself to dumb down, and Unswag doesn't hesitate to point out that I don't allow myself to think, but-”
“It's an attempt at self control.” Narci stated. “I know. I know.”
Narci's new eyes had been pleas for help since the moment he'd opened them. Swag believed him.
“Got paranoid. Got serious about it. Got this dumb thing.”
Swag showed Narci the little wire. He'd twisted it around his left ring finger, like a true fool.
Narci, possessed of the simian curiosity writ large in Edwards Nigma the multiverse over, grasped his hand for a better look.
For the next few minutes, Swag held Narci's lifeless body in his arms, whispering grief and apology. If Helix had been mad at him before, she really was going to turn him inside out now. She was ready to fistfight Satan himself for this kid.
The doorbell rang.
This was the worst possible time. He was in mourning, damnit! Who could even be at his door at this hour?
Swag stared up into the dark cowl, panic thumping in his blood. There was a body in his parlour. He was wearing contraband. He'd been hiding a second self. Not to mention possession of controlled substances, and the aiding and abetting of known criminals from other universes. Surely any of that would be enough to put him away again. Maybe forever and ever this time.
“What could you possibly want?” Swag asked, trying to keep his voice from trembling. He was pretty sure his hammering pulse was loud enough to be heard.
“The Nth metal, Nigma. Where is it? Why do you have it?”
“Oh this thing? This fuckin' thing? You can have it!” Swag yanked it from his finger and flung it into the parking lot. “Take it! I never wanna fuckin' see it again. Worthless scrap of shit. You want it, go get it, just leave me alone. I don't want nothin' to do with it.”
He slammed the door shut. And waited.
It didn't smash back open in his face, so it looked like he'd been taken at face value. The wire would be gone; no matter where it landed, it would be found. And good riddance.
He turned, then flung himself back against the door, heart in his throat choking off a scream. Narci's body lurched down the hall towards him, flopping and stumbling like a puppet on very loose strings.
“Narci?” Swag whispered. “I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sor-”
He mumbled over and over again, growing hoarser and more urgent with every shuffling step closer, until it became a hyperventilating plea as Narci pressed his drooling, slack-jawed face against Swag's chest.
“Could...n't...get...back...in...while...you...were...touch...ing...me...” The words escaped from Narci's mouth, each syllable a labored puff of air.
“I'm sorry.”
“At...least...you...grieved...”
Ooh, ooh, that cut. Because the first time, he hadn't.
No one had.
Guilt choked him silent once more, and Swag carefully, cautiously curled his arms around the boy's shoulders. Maybe he should have done this sooner. Maybe years ago.
But the second best time was now.
“D-does it hurt?”
“No...can't...feel...an...y...thing...”
“That actually sounds worse.”
“Yes...”
“Anything I can do?”
“Must...go...home...”
Swag helped him to the special door, and let him slip through, just like Helix did. It seemed the way was still closed only to Swag himself.
There was a lot of cleaning up to do, partially gelled apple goop, a broken mirror. It smelled so good that it hurt; his favorite apples reduced to a soup of memories that would now never be made. Forced to mop up what should have been a sweet song on his tongue, no more than a paraklausithyron to the world now barred to him.
He glanced at the sky while taking the trash out. Cloudy, as usual. Starlight was the rarest commodity in Gotham. Would he ever see it again?
Swag tested the door over and over during the next few days, even under the scorn of his pale twin, with whom he'd gotten into a terrible row upon returning. Just like old times.
Back and forth and back and forth, until a small hand reached out and pulled him through.
That nauseating, semi-familiar feeling of falling without moving. Stomach twisted around his spine, blood in the brain and feet, and the unbreakable, all-encompassing cold.
An eternity in an hourglass, then a shocking blast of humid heat. His glasses fogged as he gasped, gulping in the warming air.
Clutching his pinkie finger was a tiny, blue-eyed doll of a child, a little girl who, aside from her barely contained mass of curly orange hair, clearly resembled a miniature Helix.
“Hey there, Maddie-mads.” he said, taking in the lush garden around him. “How're you doing today?”
“I'm okay.” she said in her chipper, squeaky little voice. “But you're not. Momma's not either”
“Ah. I imagine not. Did she, uh, say why?”
Maddie shook her head.
“She said she made a mistake and she doesn't know how to fix it. Can you help?”
Swag rubbed the back of his neck.
“I'm...not sure this time, kiddo. I might make it worse.”
Her expression said that she didn't believe that for a second. The unwavering faith of a child. He'd had that once too. He hoped she would be able to keep it longer than he had.
It looked like he had to try.
Maddie held her hands in the air, and Swag scooped her up into his arms without really thinking about it. He looked out over Helixs hand built garden home, with its improbable, Escheresque landscapes, and soaring, vaulted glass sky. He had only been here a few times, and never very deep into the gardens, but he knew that space was warped and folded in unexpected ways; recursive paths and nested areas that one could easily get lost in forever.
He had never built a more perfectly horrifying maze. Here, if he lost his way, there was enough food and water that he could wander for the rest of his life, slowly losing hope, descending into madness. Surrounded by Eden, yet utterly, helplessly trapped.
It was frightening. She was frightening. All of this and everything about it was terrifying. It was.
And so was he. And so was Unswag, and everything he represented. And so was Arkham's undying bloodthirst, the direction Narci was taking, Puzzles' new lease on life, Nash's growing involvement with literal demons. The things YJ had almost gotten involved in, the disease that had nearly taken Detective. This whole big tightly tangled Nexus. Knowledge of the multiverse itself.
It was all an ever-expanding cosmic dread, bearing down on all their shoulders, and they each had to figure out how to handle it, because it wasn't going away.
He could look at Helix as a representative of that dread, or he could see her as yet another person upon whose shoulders that weight rested. See her as an alien being, like the Grays, or as a familiar woman whose warmth he had tasted. He could destroy a good thing, like he always did, or he could finally cherish what he actually had.
This could be his last chance.
Madeline guided him along the color-coded pebble paths, a labyrinth perhaps only she and her mother truly knew by heart. Greenery, flowers, and fruits burst joyfully on every side. An artificial stream meandered through the young trees and under small bridges. Little waterfalls trickled, and fish flashed in the water. Here and there stood a carved log, stacked rocks, suncatchers, and circles of standing stones.
Birds chirped and flitted about, Every now and then he saw a chicken, heard the braying of a goat somewhere.
Over the top of it all, a song floated like perfume on the breeze, a pair of voices entwined in haunting harmonies. One of them was Helix, naturally, of course she could sing. That was practically required of a sorceress, wasn't it?
That meant that the other voice had to be Narci, didn't it? Swag would never have guessed the kid could hold a tune, much less that his reedy, wavering voice could produce such enchanting sounds.
Maddie, cradled securely at shoulder level, loosed her own voice into the air. A string of notes akin to the birdsong, that particular pitch that only children could achieve fitted into the music with improvised ease.
Song swam through his mind. It was a compulsion, to add his voice, add himself in. To become part of the music, complete it.
He could not find the notes.
He was led to a clearing, a community center of sorts. This was a place Swag had been before. Under a tall arbor of blooming vines, tables and chairs, set up for a meal. Narci, his black curls crowned with flowers, Helix in her frilly apron, setting out the dishes. The song dying on both their lips as they noticed him approach.
Narci scowled, but Helix just gazed back at him, her expression apprehensive. Her hand was still bandaged. Narci had said that no medicine had worked on the injury.
Words clogged his throat, each one begging to be said, but reluctant to be the first.
Madeline squealed happily at the sight of the meal, and Swag put her down. She rushed over to Narci, who swept her up and sat her into her bright purple booster chair.
Swag swallowed, mouth suddenly dry.
“Starlight...” he managed.
“I'll set another place at the table.” Helix said.
