here's a little preview of the oneshot i wrote:
"Maybe he is a vampire."
"Has Natasha ever looked like a vampire?" Melina asks, putting her hand on her waist. Looking at her stupid husband.
He scrutinizes his eldest daughter. "She looks a little pale." Natasha hears him and rolls her eyes.
Melina crosses her arms over her chest. Natasha had just been sick and thrown up all over her lunch. Yelena was sitting next to her, braiding the redhead's hair. Bruce left to get water for his girlfriend, and they stayed to take care of their stubborn daughter.
Bruce returns a short time later with a glass of water and accompanied by the butler of the mansion where they were. He kneels beside her and hands her the water to drink.
Natasha drinks the water. Bruce brought her, ignoring the comments about her biological father and her.
She knew he was jealous. It was obvious, and she didn't have to be a black widow to realize it. But she didn't understand why. The man who died only had her last name. Alexei may not have been the best father in the world, but he was a father for three years. All she knows of Ivan is the name and the money she will inherit.

summertime. (ch 4)
[read full fic from ch 1]
“We have any more beer?” Bucky asks. He’s addressing her; they’re manning the bar together, which is something she usually enjoys. Tonight she feels stretched thin, like a mosquito net with holes in it.
Sarah shakes her head no.
“Sorry,” Bucky turns back to the couple that got in ten minutes back. “No beer. Boxed wine, vodka, or sodas.”
“Their vodka tastes like piss, but is good for alcohol content,” says their third guest.
Bucky is a far more gracious bartender than Sarah would have expected. He jerks a thumb at the bear-like figure of Alexei Shostokov and grunts. “Certified Russian. You can trust his opinion on this, at least.”
“That sounds strong enough,” mutters the husband. He’s not a large man, but Sarah has been around enough ex-military types in her lifetime to recognize one. There’s a canniness in his dark eyes and he holds his shoulders nice and straight like it’s been drilled into him. His wife is even smaller, with a freckled face and arched brows that are intense enough to hide the sweet way her mouth quirks. They wear nondescript clothes, worn jeans, and muddied boots that can conceal all manner of weapons. Their only truly revealing features are the wedding bands and a small Star of David strung around the man’s neck.
Their bike is parked outside and looks like it’s seen better days.
“You got a whole bottle?”
“Sure. You paying in cash or I owe yous?”
Sarah sees two dark brows inch upwards. “We don’t make deals with people we don’t know,” he says firmly.
His wife is still inhaling her stew. She pauses to drop her spoon back into the bowl with a clatter, closes her eyes as though savoring it, then presses the meat of her thumb against the bridge of her nose. “Fuck,” she says.
There’s a fourth guy on the far end, too sharp around the edges. Sarah has felt Bucky’s eyes on him all evening, and right now their new military friend keeps glancing at him warily over his wife’s cloud of hair. Sarah keeps her head down. Experience has shown he could be anything from an average mercenary to ex-Hydra, both of which are way above her pay grade.
Bucky sets the alcohol on the bar with a scrape and goes back to what he was doing, which was humouring Alexei.
“Sorry, Alyosha, you were saying.”
“Is no problem, Bucky Barnes. But you see my point.”
“Maybe.”
“My friend, there is no maybe here. I have much experience, I know these things. Good woman, she is, like this,” Alexei makes a rounded shape with his trashcan-lid hands. “Substantial woman. With heft. No offense,” he adds graciously, to his potential drinking companions, both of whom are the definition of slight. “You see?”
Bucky tilts his head as though genuinely considering this and runs his tongue along the back of one molar. “You lost me there, buddy.”
“When you are stuck in endless winter, there must be something to hold. Not just in figure, in personality. I tell my Lenoshka this as well,” He says this around his tankard, which he has lifted to his mouth, “When she is finding woman she must look for substantial one. Substantial man, also good. This is very common among Russians.”
“Uh huh.”
“Her little American girlfriend,” Alexei continues proudly, like he’s telling them his kid got into Yale, “she is substantial in personality I think. Many balls on that one.”
The fabled Kate Bishop, Sarah thinks. Sarah’s always liked Yelena, for all that she makes Sam groan and is one of few people who can get away with telling Bucky his beard looks stupid to his face; she figures this other girl’s probably a decent egg too.
Bucky is nodding seriously while he pulls out a soda for Jazz Arnolds, who has floated over to the bar in the hour before her shift. Currently the speakers are playing Taylor Swift, which does not suit the atmosphere at all, but Kamala had begged Bucky for a good five minutes earlier in the day. Her auntie loved Taylor Swift, Sarah remembers, and God knows he can’t really tell any of the kids no on things like that. Kamala’s doing homework in one of the booths across the bar now and singing unselfconsciously along to Cornelia Street.
“Many balls is good,” Bucky says, in that understated way of his. In spite of herself, Sarah has to chew on the inside of her cheek not to laugh.

 |——————————— ⴵ ———————————|
You had been working in the cafe for a while. Your parents needed the money, and to be honest, you needed it too.
Your parents had been drinking since you were a young child, and you now you were a teenager, which means it is legal for you to work. Your parents didn’t hesitate to push you towards a job. With all their money going to alcohol, they needed your money for either food, or more drinks.
On the side, you would save a little bit of money, trying to save enough to hopefully one day go to college.
Today it was a day like any other.
You had just gotten back from school, and you went to the cafe immediately. However, this time was a little different. For the last couple of weeks, you had the weird feeling that someone was watching you. There had been a few people that asked about a lot of details from you, which creeped you out a bit.
At first, it was a red-headed woman. She looked to be around her thirties, and she was very kind.
Then, there was a brown haired woman. She asked how you were doing, whether you were still in school, and also how you would be getting home. She seemed concerned for your safety. After all, it had been late that day.
Then, a blonde haired woman had walked in. She went into the cafe with a dog, and after ordering for herself and her dog, she offered to walk you home. You had told her that you were fine, and that your father was picking you up, but as usual, he hadn’t showed up. The woman insisted on walking you home, and you had allowed her. What was the harm, right? She was very kind and respectful, and her dog was nice.
After that, you had a week of boring people, as usual. People who didn’t give a single shit about your life. People that only cared about the fact that they had been waiting on their coffee for five whole minutes.
You figured you had just been imagining things, and that the three women you had met where just genuinely kind.
However, after that week ended, weirdly invasive people started to come into the cafe again.
At first it was a man. He was wearing gloves, and he looked a little scary. His hair was brown, and he was tall and looked strong. However, when he ordered you decided he was actually very sweet. He talked with you the entire night, thanking you when you served him his drinks and food, and he tipped very well.
A week later, this week, you spotted the red haired woman from a few weeks ago sitting at one of the tables.
She wasn’t alone this time. The brown haired woman, who you had seen earlier as well, was sitting beside her. You walked up to them with a smile, pushing your odd feelings down and getting ready to serve them just like any other day.
The women smiled at you, and after giving you their order, they continued a conversation of their own.
You brushed your anxiety off of yourself, making their drinks and continuing with your shift. However, after serving them and getting back to another costumer, the man you had seen earlier walked in. He looked a little angry, but smiled kindly when he met your eyes. You smiled back, but before you could ask for his order, he went to sit down with the other two women.
Again, you didn’t think much off it, rather just pushing the anxiety away and continuing with your job.
It started to get really weird, though, when the blonde haired woman walked in. She was accompanied by her fluffy dog, which didn’t hesitate to greet you with a wagging tail. You bent down to pet him, when you noticed a slightly red streak running along his fur.
You went to brush your hand over it, but the dog retreated back to it’s owner.
She smiled at you and stopped at the bar, ordering the same thing she ordered a few weeks ago. After doing so, she went to sit down with the other man and women. Why did they know each other? Had it been a coincidence that you had all seen them before? Were they watching you?
You shook the thoughts from your head, preparing the woman’s order, putting some whipped cream into a cup for her dog, before bringing it over to the table.
You put it down with a smile, grabbing the empty two cups and asking if you could get them anything else.
“We’re alright, sweetheart,” the brown haired woman spoke with a gentle smile.
You nodded and retreated back to the counter, ready to serve other costumers, before you realised, there were no other costumers.
The entire cafe was empty, minus the four people sitting in the corner.
Odd, this was usually such a busy time.
You didn’t think much off it, rather deciding to start cleaning up a bit in the hopes of getting home earlier tonight. When you were about to shut off the coffee machine you heard the little bell ring, indicating that another costumer had walked in.
You turned to look at them, discovering that it was a tall, large man. He had tattoos covering his arms, and a long beard. He was followed by a woman, who smiled at you before she pulled the man over to the table where the other people were sitting. You hadn’t seen them before, but you did find it odd.
When your colleague told you she was heading home for the night, you agreed to closing up, telling her to get home safe.
After she left, you glance over at the table impatiently. They had been sitting there for hours, and you wanted to get home on time tonight. You still had a few tests to study for, and there was a project you were supposed to hand in yesterday.
You stood impatiently at the counter until the blonde woman walked up to you. You had hoped she wanted to pay, but instead she simply asked for a donut.
You hid your annoyance and got her what she wanted, smiling at her when you handed the sweet treat over.
“How are you getting home today?” she asked as she took the donut from you, taking a bite.
“My father was supposed to pick me up, but I suppose I’ll be walking once again,” you replied, closing the treat cabinet.
“I can give you a ride if you’d like. My parents are probably leaving with my sister anyway, so there will be a car left that I’ll have to drive,” she explained, giving her dog a few pets when it excitedly walked over to her. She snuck the dog some pieces of the donut while praising her for being such a good girl.
“That’s very kind, but I’m sure I’ll be fine,” you replied, not wanting to get into a strangers car.
“Don’t be silly. It’s no problem, I promise. A young girl like you shouldn’t be out on the street alone at this time. It’s dangerous, someone could hurt you,” the woman reasoned, and you thought for a moment before agreeing.
It did seem dangerous to walk home alone in the dark, and this woman was very kind. There was no way that she would hurt you.
“If you’re certain that it won’t be a problem…” you said, and you watched the woman shake her head.
“Of course not. Besides, Fanny would love the extra cuddles,” the woman explained, giving her dog, Fanny, a few scratches behind her ears.
You turned around, missing the sign the woman gave to the other people at the table. They got up, walking towards the door. The red headed woman stayed behind, telling the others she would be there soon.
She walked over to the counter, giving Fanny a few pets before pulling out her wallet.
“I’d like to pay for the whole table, please,” she told you as she grabbed her card. You nodded and typed in the amount on the device.
After paying, she thanked you and walked out of the cafe.
“I’m Yelena, by the way,” the blonde woman said as she waited for you to close everything up. “I’m y/n,” you told her, locking the register and walking out from behind the bar.
“This way,” she said as she led the way out of the cafe, waiting for you to lock the door before opening the door of her car.
You were about to get in before Fanny jumped into the car before you, settling in the middle of the couch chair. Yelena drove a truck, so it was easy to fit three people on the chair. You got in after Fanny, sitting beside her and petting her head when she laid her head on your lap.
Yelena got into the drivers seat, closing the door and starting the car.
“Here, you must be thirsty after working for so long,” she said as she handed you a bottle of water.
“Thank you,” you thanked her as you opened it, taking a few sips.
“Who was your sister?” you asked Yelena after a little while. She turned to you with a smile, rubbing Fanny’s fur.
“The red head, Natasha. She’s my sister. The big guy, with the long beard, that’s my dad, and the woman with dark brown hair is my mom,” Yelena explained, focusing back on the road. “The cafe you work at is close to our work space, so we come there a lot, but we’ve never been there together.”
“What kind of work do you do?” you asked her curiously.
“We take care of business. Make sure people pay… taxes… that sort of stuff,” Yelena explained, although she weirdly paused before mentioning taxes. You nodded, focusing on the world outside.
After a few minutes of silence, you started to get a bit dizzy, grabbing onto the dashboard to steady yourself as black spots took over your vision.
“Everything alright?” Yelena asked, concern lacing her voice.
“Just a little dizzy…” you explained, taking a few deep breaths in the hopes of clearing your vision.
“That happens sometimes after doing a lot during the day, especially for girls your age. You should drink a bit more water and take a few deep breaths. It’ll pass,” Yelena told you, and you nodded as you gulped the leftover water in the waterbottle down.
You sat back, taking a few deep breaths and looking out the window, suddenly noticing the road you were at didn’t look familiar.
“This isn’t my street…?” you asked Yelena, who merely shrugged.
“There is construction that way, so I figured we’d avoid it,” she reasoned, turning on her turn signal and steering into another unfamiliar road.
You were about to protest, but the spots in your vision took over nearly everything, and you suddenly felt to dizzy to talk. You tried to say something, but you couldn’t even remember what happened after as you lost consciousness completely.
-------------------------------------------------------------
You groaned slightly when you woke up, the sun blinding your vision as you covered your eyes with your hands. You turned around in the bed, pulling the covers a little higher a closing you eyes again, fully prepared to go back to sleep.
Suddenly, you sat up in a fright, looking around the room and taking in you surroundings. You never got home lat night.
You don’t remember anything past the points of being dizzy.
You threw the covers away, standing up from the bed, ignoring the slight dizziness as you walked over to the window. As soon as you pulled the curtains open, all you could see was snow. What the actual fuck. It never snowed where you were from.
You ran towards the door, surprised when it opened immediately.
You looked out into the hallway, making sure it was clear before you made your way downstairs. You could hear chatter coming from what you assumed was the living room, and so you tried to go around it, heading towards the front door, or atleast, what looked like the front door.
You almost thought you weren’t spotted, until you heard a voice coming from the living room.
“If you’re going outside, don’t forget your boots and jacket. Winters are very cold around here.”
You stopped dead in your tracks, frozen in place as the voice spoke so casual. If she knew you were leaving, why didn’t she try to stop you? You hesitated a moment, unsure of what to do as you looked at the rack of shoes. Your shoes were there, together with a vast variety of boots.
“If you’re hungry, there is also some breakfast,” the voice spoke again, and you took a deep breath before deciding to follow it.
You walked into the living room, seeing all five people sitting on a few couches.
The red headed woman, Natasha, was sitting at the edge of the couch with the brown haired woman beside her. Natasha was scrolling on her phone while the other woman was reading a book.
After they noticed you arrived in the living room, the woman put her book away.
“Where am I?” you asked quietly, glancing over at Yelena who was watching something on the tv. You couldn’t understand the language, and you figured it must’ve been something slavic.
“You’re home,” the woman smiled softly, getting up from the couch and reaching for your hand.
“We figured we’d let you sleep in, so I put some breakfast in the fridge for you,” she explained as she led you towards the kitchen, letting go of your hand and opening the fridge, pulling out a plate of waffles.
You went to sit down at the barstool, leaning on the kitchen island, debating on what to say next.
“Who are you…?” you asked hesitantly, afraid to upset her.
“My name is, Wanda, but you may call me mom, and Natasha is mama,” Wanda stated simply, squirting some whipped cream on the waffles before topping them off with some fresh fruit.
“... What…?”
“I understand that it may be a bit confusing, but I promise you you will be happy here. We will make sure you will never have to worry about anything another day in your life,” Wanda explained, smiling as she put the plate of food in front of you.
“What about my parents?” you asked, and Wanda just smiled.
“You don’t have to worry about them hurting you ever again, I promise.”
You nodded slightly, staring at the plate of waffles.
“So you kidnapped me?”
Wanda chuckled a bit, sitting down across from you and pouting you a glass of your favourite juice. “I guess you could call it that, although that is not our intention. We love you, and we’ll show that to you,” she explained, putting the glass of juice down in front of you.
You hesitated before you felt your belly rumble in hunger, staring at the plate of waffles for only a second longer before you dug in, enjoying the amazing tasty treat.
“Why me?” you asked after taking a breath, taking a sip from your juice and staring at Wanda.
“You are special. You might not understand it, but you are special, and we love you. You are perfect,” Wanda explained, smiling as Natasha joined you in the kitchen.
“Don’t worry about it too much, malysh. You will love it here, and you will have everything you could dream off,” she said, giving you a kiss on your forehead. She reached over to the cabinet, grabbing a glass and filling it with some juice as well.
“If you want, I can take you outside later, or you could explore the house a little if that’s what you prefer,” Natasha suggested, and you nodded.
“Okay,” you simply said, taking another bite of your waffles.
You were confused beyond comprehension, yet for some reason, you felt safe. You knew you were safe, and for the first time in your life, you felt content.

Tony: Natasha's family looks down on me. Yelena talks about me right in front of my face in Russian because she thinks I’m not smart enough to learn another language. But I’ve been taking classes and now I can understand all the hurtful things she’s saying.
Y/N: And how did that help?
Tony: Well, now I know they all think I’m short and I was able to do some research and find that 1940s census that proves I’m above average in height.
Y/N: For 1940.
Tony: Yeah, I’m taller than the greatest generation! It doesn’t matter-

(Meanwhile in St. Petersburg)
Alexei: What are your intentions with my little girl, Kate Bishop?
Kate: We're going to travel the world to kill all those who have done her wrong.
Alexei: So you don't intend to marry her?
Kate: I thought you were asking about what we'd do during our honeymoon.
*Yelena sighs with relief*
Alexei: Good answer, American.
Melina very surprised: Great answer.

Lightning Bug - Chapter 28
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Warnings: usage of a gun (training), fluff, mention of past trauma
Word Count: 3.8k
You tightened the straps on your backpack as you waited for Natasha and Wanda. There was a knot forming in your stomach. They were excited to meet you, but what if you disappointed them? What if they weren’t happy with who you are? “Hey,” Wanda placed her hands on her shoulders. “Breath. Take a few deep breaths for me.” You nodded and did that. “Good,” you turned to face her. “What’s going through your head?” You sighed, biting your lip. “What’s going through your head?” You sighed, biting your head.
“What if they don’t like me?” You whispered. It seemed ridiculous to say out loud. “I’m a little nervous.” Wanda nodded.
“I was too when I first met them,” she pushed some of your hair behind your ear. “They will love you. Just be you.”
“And take everything Alexei says with a grain of salt,” Natasha rushed over to you as the doors opened and the ramp came out. Natasha told you they had to part the jet a little further away from the house because Melina doesn’t want the jet’s engine to scare the animals. You descended the ramp and hoped the walk would calm your anxiety, but it became worse. Each step you took made your heart pound faster and faster.
The property remained you of the Barton’s homestead but more rustic. There was a main house with multiple outdoor buildings. As you got closer, you could smell and hear the pigs. “There they are!” A booming voice echoed through the quiet land. It came from a man with a thick beard wearing overalls.
“Yebat’ (fuck),” Natasha mumbled and pushed you behind her. Your body tensed up as you watched the man run over to the three of you. “Alexei, no,” Natasha warned.
“Natalia, my pride and joy,” he looked at Wanda. “Wanda, hopefully, my soon-to-be daughter-in-law,” you saw the couple in front of you tense up. “Move. I’d like to see moya vnucka (my granddaughter).” You weren’t sure what that word was.
“Not with that energy,” Wanda said. “Bring it down a little, or you’ll scare her off.” The man gasped.
“I would never! I’m her dedushka (grandpa). We are destined to be side by side like in American movies,” you peeked your head from behind the couple and saw a woman walking out of the house. Her black hair was pulled back into a ponytail, and her arms were crossed against her chest. Suddenly, the man’s face was in front of yours.
“Hi,” he said. You yelped and fell to the ground, startled by his sudden appearance. “You’re so small.” He pushed past the couple and grabbed you by the arms, lifting you like you weighed nothing. “I could put you in my pocket.” The man hugged you tight. “I am your dedushka (grandpa). I can not wait to tell you all about my glory days.” The man swayed you from side to side, and your body went tense, frozen. Even Wanda and Natasha’s voice turned to white noise. You felt a pressure building that started in your chest. You had to hold it in; the charge would kill the man holding you.
“Alexei, vinz (down),” a new voice broke through the fog. “She is not a toy.” The man gently set you down, and you were shaky on your legs. The man looked apologetic, scratching the back of his head. You were sure Natasha was asking if you were okay, but your eyes stayed trained on the newest addition to the group. She grabbed hold of your chin, moving your head from side to side. “Alexei’s right. You are too small. Is Natalia not feeding you?”
“Mama,” the read head groaned. “She’s eating.”
“Not enough. Come, I’ll cook you something,” she dragged you towards the house, but you dug your feet into the ground.
“Wait,” your voice shook, and everyone’s eyes trained on you. “I need,” air couldn’t get into your lungs. “Nat,” you gasped. “Help.” Quickly, she opened her bag and pulled out a battery. She placed it in your hands and knelt in front of you. You wanted to yell at her to get back. To run because you were afraid to hurt her, but the words died on your lips. She sensed your hesitation.
“I got you, molniyenosnyy zhuk (lightning bug). Let go,” (release the energy). You slumped against Natasha, and her arms wrapped around you. “That was a big one. Take a minute, okay,” you nodded and focused on Natasha’s hand, rubbing circles on your back.
“Did I hurt anyone?” You whispered.
“No, Wanda pushed Melina and Alexei back with her powers.” Good. That was good. You stood up straighter and saw Natasha smiling at you. She pushed a few strands of your hair stuck to your forehead from sweat. You felt hot and hungry.
“Hi,” Wanda stood next to you, and you rested your head on her chest. “How are you feeling?” You huffed.
“Better,” you admitted. “Sorry, that was embarrassing.”
“I think someone else should apologize,” you turned around to see the duo walk back to you. The woman hit Alexei.
“Sorry about that. I was excited to meet you.” The man’s cheeks were flushed.
“It’s okay,” you smiled. “Hi, by the way.” you waved.
“Melina, Alexei,” Natasha placed a gentle hand on your shoulder. “This is Y/n, our daughter,” your stomach flipped at that. You loved having someone be proud enough of you to call you their daughter.
“It’s nice to meet you,” Melina smiled. “We’ve heard great things about you,” her eyes pointed at you. “I still think you are too small.”
“Mama!”
*
“They are so cute!” You stood on the wooden pen for the pigs and watched Alexei chase after the piglets. They wanted nothing to do with him. Natasha laughed.
“Come on, Red Guardian! Didn’t you fight Captain America and win? Catching a pig for your vnucka (granddaughter),” you giggled and watched the man’s face twist with determination. You learned vnucka, which is translated to granddaughter, and the Russian words for grandma and grandpa are dedushka and babushka. Alexei was adamant about you calling him Dedushka. Melina shoved three bowls of chowder before she thought you were ready to explore.
“I got one!” A pig was pushed into your arms, and Natasha had to catch you before you fell off the fence.
“Alexei! What have I told you about manhandling my pigs?” You heard Melina call out and missed the murderous glare Natasha sent Alexei, too distracted by the little pig in your arms. It took a while for the creature to settle in your arms, but soon it pushed against your chest for warmth.
“It’s so tiny,” you whispered, so afraid to disturb the little creature in your arms. A weird feeling bloomed in your chest. It was strange how much faith the animal had in you. The pig trusted you to hold it close and protect it. Such blind faith. It was a little ridiculous, but it reminded you of yourself. You put faith in your parents and the man from HYDRA who promised you a better life. Now you were doing it with the Avengers. Was it wise to do it again? The third time is the charm, right? “What’s got you thinking so hard?” Natasha asked, running her hand over your head. You glanced up. She was smiling. Her eyes sparkled with love; sometimes, you forgot how much she cared about you. You smiled.
“Just, uh, thinking about life,” she chuckled, kissing your forehead. You basked in the warmth she provided.
“Never change, dorogoy (sweetheart),” you looked at her confused. “After everything you’ve been through, your heart is still good.” You frowned, unsure if that was true. You protected the pig with one hand as you climbed over the pen and placed the animal on the ground. It looked confused, turned to face, and ran to bury itself between your legs. You chuckled, pushing the creature towards its family. However, the piglet ran back to you.
“What’s going on, little one?” You asked, scratching its chin. “Why don’t you want to join your friends?”
“It’s the runt,” Melina said. You glanced over at her. “The others pick on it.” You frowned and sat down. The piglet climbed onto your lap and looked up at you.
“I was a runt, too,” you spoke softly. Your hand never stopped petting it. “I think we grow up to be the strongest of the group because we have to fight every single day just to survive,” you sighed. “And that can be scary, but I promise little one, everything will turn out just fine.” You felt a little crazy speaking to an animal, but the little pig seemed to understand. It glanced at the other pigs and back to you before joining them. You smiled and stood up. Wanda and Natasha were watching you with a smile. Yeah, everything was turning out just fine.
*
It was a long day. With the emotional trip to Sokovia and the surprise display of power, Wanda and Y/n were taking a nap before dinner. Alexei was outside finishing the chores he promised Melina that would be done, but due to the excitement, they slipped his mind. So Natasha was left to help prepare dinner with Melina. Sometimes, Natasha had to pinch herself to remind herself this was real. That the woman chose to be here, decided to be her mother, and that the Red Room wasn’t orchestrating this. It’s not another mission. This was real. It took a while for her to trust Melina and Alexei again. Yelena was the critical factor to help mend the relationship. She knew it was Yelena’s desperate attempt to have a real family. “It looks good on you,” Melina said, standing over the sauce for the beef stroganoff. Natasha hummed in question, focusing on chopping up the spices. “Motherhood. You fall into the role naturally.”
“You sound surprised,” she glanced over her shoulder, but Melina’s back was to her.
“Not surprised at all. You are a khameleon (chameleon). You adapt. It was like that in Ohio, the Red Room, and now with the Avengers,” Natasha wasn’t sure if what Melina said was a compliment. She turned to face the older Black Widow, and Melina looked at her. “Why do you look offended?”
“I’m not sure if I should take what you said as a compliment.”
“No?” She tilted her head. “You were always sensitive to that.” Melina walked over to the cutting board she was using and took it back to the pot. “I was trying to say it’s hard for us to be mothers, people like you and me.”
“Why is it hard?” She saw Melina’s stutter as she added the freshly chopped herbs into the pot.
“Because that choice was taken away from us,” Subconsciously, Natasha placed her hand where her scar was. The serum healed all of it, but she would never forget where it was. She dropped her hand when Melina turned back around to hand her the cutting board. “But you are doing good. Does that happen often with her powers?” Natasha shook her head.
“Not since she started training with Maria,” Natasha began cleaning the dishes she no longer needed. The farmhouse needed to be equipped with a dishwasher; she preferred to do it by hand. It kept her busy.
“Is she training to be an Avenger?”
“No, I mean she could join the team if she wants, but we are focusing on helping her control her powers,” Or help her fight this new threat that was possibly coming. She would have a long chat with Vision when she got back.
“Are you and Wanda going to have more children?” Natasha felt her cheeks warm up. “I would like to have more grandchildren to spoil.”
“Mama! We just adopted her. Give us some time.” Melina chuckled and wiped her hands on a dish towel. The gentle hand of Melina on her shoulder caused Natasha’s body to go rigid, but she turned around to face her. The woman places both hands on her cheeks.
“Throughout our entire life, every choice was made for us,” her voice was so soft Natasha had to remind herself who was speaking to her. “But you chose to be that little girl’s mama, and being a mother is the greatest gift. Cherish it.” It was hard for Natasha to look past the betrayal towards Alexei and Melina. Melina was the only mother she knew since the Red Room took her biological one away. Melina was part of the system that kept hundreds of girls trapped even when she was trapped herself.
The sudden moment was interpreted by the crack of a gun going off; the duo separated immediately. “There is a pistol in the umbrella holder by the back door,” Melina said suddenly. She nodded and raced to where Melina told her. It wasn’t surprising to her that weapons were scattered around the house. Once her hand came into contact with the metal, she remembered to take a few calming breaths. The list of enemies was long and still growing. No matter who was here, no one was taking her family from her.
She kicked the back door open and expected to see the backyard filled with enemies racing towards the house or Alexei fighting them off. No. Instead, she saw Alexei and Y/n at the gun range for Widows that stayed on the farm. There was a pistol in the teen’s hand, and the gun going off two more times caused goosebumps to form on her arm.
“Alexei, what the fuck are you doing?”
*
You spun around to see two very angry Black Widows armed with a pistol and a rifle. Safety placed the gun down like Alexei and Maria showed you, and you ran over to Natasha. “Nat, come look!” It was enough time for her to hand the pistol to Melina before you dragged her over to the makeshift gun range. “Look how well I did!” You were proud of your grouping: two head shots and two in the shot. You looked back at Natasha and your smile. “You look upset.”
“Of course I’m upset. Melina and I thought we were being attacked,” you cringed and glanced at Melina and Alexei. The older woman was radially speaking in Russian and heard the word ‘idiot’ a few times. Suddenly, the back door of the house busted open. Wanda’s eyes were glowing red, and her magic danced on her fingers. It died down when she saw her family and no threat.
“Oh, I’m in so much trouble.” Natasha grabbed your arm and dragged you back over.
“Explain, both of you,” Melina said when Wanda jogged over. You and Alexei shared a look.
“I woke up and heard you and Natasha talking in the kitchen,” you said slowly. “I went outside to explore, and Alexei, I mean dedushka,” you saw his smile from the corner of your eye. “Saw me walking around the training area. He said you made it for the Widows that sometimes stay here,” you knew it had to do with some rehabilitation program Yelena set up, but the details were fuzzy. It took a lot of work to follow any story Alexei told. “I asked him if he could teach me how to shoot a gun.” The two Black Widows said something in Russian that was not part of your daily language lesson, but Alexei cringed. Natasha stared down the man.
“And you thought it was a good idea.”
“Her mama, babushka, and tetya (aunt) are all Black Widows. She should know her way around a gun,” it was a fair agreement to make. “She gave me very good-” he snapped his fingers. “What’s the word? When the eyes get small and sad?”
“Puppy dog eyes,” Wanda said with a smirk. Alexei pointed at the witch. “She tends to use them to get something she wants,” you opened your mouth to argue, but the witch gave you a pointed look. You thought it was best to keep your mouth shut. “I was unaware you had any form of gun training.” She said to Alexei, who gasped in offense.
“I will have you know the Red Guardian is well-versed in many weapons. Guns, knives, rocket launcher,” your eyes widened, and you looked at him, excitement bubbling in your chest. “No!” He shot you down. “Do you see how much trouble we are in?” You slowly looked back at the trio.
“On a scale of 1 -10, how much trouble am I in?” You asked, staring at the ground, unable to look at the three women. Natasha sighed.
“You will be doing dishes for the rest of our trip,” you nodded. That was fair. Gently, Natasha lifted your head, and you stared into her green eyes. “No more weapon training without telling us.”
“Sorry,” you mumbled, but the redhead kissed your forehead and hugged you. She smelt of garlic and onions.
“Scared the hell out of me, kid,” you nodded again. It wasn’t your intention, and you weren’t thinking when you asked Alexei. You felt tears form at the corner of your eyes, and she needed the hug far too soon for your liking. “Let’s see this grouping again.”
“What?” You questioned. Natasha pushed away a tear that escaped down your cheek.
“I’d like to see you shoot again. Make sure Alexei taught you correctly,” the man gasped, and it made you laugh. Before you picked up the gun, you apologized to Melina and hugged Wanda. With the short time you held a gun in your hand and shot it, it wasn’t your preferred weapon. However, with so many Black Widows in your life, you were going to keep that information to yourself.
*
Once the dishes were cleaned from dinner, it was another early night, but you could not sleep. Your sleep schedule was messed up with the time difference and the nap you took. So you got out of bed and walked out of the guest room. Melina had a bookshelf next to the dining room that you’ve been dying to look through. Many of the books in her collection were not in English, but you could tell they were science books. Your eyes found a photo album. Curiosity, you grabbed the album and flipped through it. Every photo was of two young girls: one blonde and one brunette. The images captured moments from Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving. “It’s not a good idea to snoop in a Black Widow’s home,” you jumped at Melina’s voice, almost dropping the album.
“It’s also not a good idea to sneak up on someone.” The Black Widow chuckled, and you put the album away, but Melina grabbed it and walked over to the dining room table. Wordlessly, you followed her and sat down.
“Do you know how I became Natalie’s and Yelena’s mama?”
“Kind of. Yelena said a mission brought all of you together.” Melina nodded; the photo album was stopped on Christmas. “I didn’t ask specifics.”
“The Red Room needed agents to act as an American family to steal some classified information,” she traced the faces of each little girl. “When the mission was over, we gave them back.”
“Why are you telling me this?” You questioned. Melina closed the album and placed her hands on top of it. She was staring intently at you, and you felt small under her gaze.
“I wasn’t the mother my girls needed,” you frowned and took her hand. You flipped it over so you could trace the lines on her palm. Her facial expressions softened at the gesture.
“Are you the mother they deserve now?”
“I do not know,” she admitted. “But I’m trying to be. Not all of us get the chance to get two,” you understood that. You were lucky that you overslept that day, which landed you in the cafe simultaneously. If you were there at your regular time, you could still be living on the streets or bouncing between shelters. What a crazy what-if. “Never take it for granted.”
“I won’t,” you promised. “I don’t think I’ll ever be able to repay them.” Melina smiled softly.
“Love them as much as they love you,” the Black Widow said. “That will be more than enough.”
*
You were up early to help Melina work outside with the pigs and her small garden. It was hard work, but Melina filled it with stories of their time in Ohio. Even Wanda brought out breakfast and helped out. You told her that the dishes would get done after you helped Melina. You sat back on your knees and stretched your neck. Picking weeds out of the dirt was not your idea of a fun time, but it beat cleaning the pig pen or doing the dishes. The sun felt different out here compared to Iowa and New York. You liked it, and it made you think about what Natasha asked you about - living somewhere like this. Away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. A place where you could get your dog and have them run around the backyard. It was a good idea, maybe one day. “Mama, are you overworking my niece already?” Your head wiped towards the voice. Yelena and Kate were talking in the garden. You jumped to your feet and ran over to them. The couple caught you as you threw yourself at them.
“I didn’t know you were coming to visit!” You smiled.
“That’s because it was a surprise, bud.” Kate laughed.
“Did you think I would subject you to a full day of Alexei’s torment without me?” You giggled. “I heard you got into a little trouble.” You awkwardly shrugged. “Proud of you.”
“Yelena, do not corrupt my granddaughter,” the older Black Widow came over to greet the newcomers. “Kate, how are you? Is Yelena treating you well?” The archer blushed.
“Yes, Melina. I’m doing great.” The blonde’s mouth hung open slightly.
“Come, I’ll make you something.” Melina put her arm around Kate and led her to the house. “Yelena, close your mouth. You’ll eat a fly.” You used your pointer finger to close her mouth, and she slapped your hand away.
“Unbelievable,” Yelena said once her girlfriend and mother were out of earshot. “She likes the people we bring home more than her daughters.” You smiled and lopped your arms through hers. “How do you like Russia?” She asked as you both walked towards the house.
“I like it!” You said. It was the truth. “Just different than Iowa and the city.” Yelena hummed in agreement.
“It took me a while to learn that the differences we see make for a wonderful world.”

To say Wanda was nervous would be an understatement, she was anxious and scared. She was meeting your family today and she wanted to make a first good impression, she wanted to make sure that her lovers’ family deem her worthy for their youngest child. You never really talked about your family or really mentioned anything about them really and so, she thought it was a sore topic, she does remember you mentioning about you having two sisters but that was all the information she could get about your family.
So, she started the day by cleaning your guys WHOLE apartment in preparation for their arrival. You told her that she didn’t have too but she was persistent, you have also stated that you would bring them here after your work shift. She also remembers you specifying that your family really loves vodka and almost has them in every meal (which she thought was concerning, since people shouldn’t be drinking vodka that much in a day).
“Ok, ok…erm-… you got this! No need to worry…-But what if they don’t like me!” Wanda sighed out in frustration, If she were to keep on panicking, she would definitely make a bad impression. So she did some breathing exercises that you taught her if she were to ever feel overwhelmed or stressed in situations.
After a while Wanda calmed down and started to get everything ready for you and your family’s arrival. She started to get the food ready and then herself. Her thoughts were still everywhere but now, she keeps on thinking of the positives. What worried her the most was always putting you in danger with her line of work, she knows' you can handle yourself she's seen it first hand, after that bar incident, she'd known you know how to defend yourself. But it still worried her nonetheless. Her thoughts went back to one thing she has always held back from you; how is she ever going to tell you that she was an Avenger?
Tumblr media
You just left your work shift at the local coffee shop. You were about to call your sisters; when you were suddenly tackled into the ground, your widow training instinct kicked into place and you maneuvered yourself to get yourself out of the persons’ grasp, you headbutt the person and pinned them down.
“Calm down mladshaya sestra(little sister), it's just me, Yelena!”  She remarked in pain as she was being pinned on the floor. Quickly snapping back to reality, you quickly let go of her. “Yelena! Don’t do that, I could’ve seriously hurt you.” You quickly helped her up, checking if you had caused her any injuries.
“Pshh nah, don’t worry so much, I can handle it!” She exclaims smugly.
Natasha soon followed up behind her, panting as she was out of breath. She hits Yelena on the head. “Hey! That hurt, why’d you do that?” Yelena asked. “That was for tackling me to get to (y/n) first and for practically tackling her too!” She shouted at Yelena.
“You are no fun sestra(sister),” Yelena rolls her eyes at Natasha.
“Ok, ok, Everyone please calm down now. Yelena, please call in mama and papa to meet us near my apartment.”
“AH Yes! We are to meet this girlfriend of yours,” Yelena said.
“Yelena please be nice, she’s a very lovely girl and I really love her,” You looked her way and glared at her, silently telling her that you were serious. “You too Natty, don’t think i’ve forgotten about you.” You then looked at your redheaded sister and also proceeded to glare at her.
“That’s up more for Yelena and I to decide on mladshaya sestra(little sister).” Natasha went behind you and slinged one arm over your shoulder while ruffling your hair with her other hand.
Yelena called out for your attention “Mama said that they are near your apartment already (y/n) and are just waiting. She said to hurry because she thinks Alexei might try and break in, he really can’t wait to meet your girlfriend and crush her. He really wants to know who the girl is.” She jokes at the end of her speech but you could tell she was also half serious about Alexei might try and break into your apartment.
You quickly got your keys and dragged both your sisters to your car “Everyone seatbelts on, especially you Yelena,” You looked to the passenger seat and stared at Yelena “Ugh fine, you and Natasha are such moms.” She buckled in her seatbelt and Natasha was seated in the back, after you expected the car to make sure everything ready, you drove off to get to your apartment.
Tumblr media
Awaiting your arrival when you arrived in front of your apartment building near the entrance was Melina and Alexei. They waved at you as you drove past them to park your car near the apartment building. As soon as you parked your car, Yelena, Natasha, and you got out of the car and walked towards them.
“Mama, Papa!” you called out to them, as soon as you got close Alexei lifted you up in a bone crushing hug, which would have literally been bone crushing if Melina didn’t step in and asked him to put you down.
“Oh my sweet little one, is it so good to see you!” Melina cupped your cheeks with her hands and peppered small kisses to your face. Melina was never the one to show any physical affections but when it comes to her daughters and/or family, she will gladly shower them with love.
“Why don’t I get kisses?” Yelena spoke up from behind you. Melina stopped and let go of your face then looked behind you. She playfully rolled her up and smiled at them, then walked towards where Natasha and Yelena were standing. She then proceeded to do the same thing to Yelena as she did to you. Natasha stopped her though when she tried to do it to her, “Nuh-uh, I don’t want you doing that to me please,” She crossed her arms over her chest and looked at her with a small glare. Melina just rolled her eyes at her “Fine fine. Have it your way.”
You wanted to have more small talk with your family but Alexei’s impatience was getting the best of him. “I WISH TO MEET THIS GIRLFRIEND OF YOURS (Y/n)! I NEED TO CHECK THAT SHE IS MAKING YOU HAPPY AND IF SHE DOES NOT, SHE WILL HAVE TO FACE THE WRATH OF THE RED GUARDIAN!” He puffed his chest and placed his fist onto it as a sign that he was serious. Melina patted him on the shoulder and hummed in agreement.
“Ok ok. But please don’t intimidate and scare her away, she’s a really nice and loving girl and… I just really love her,” You whispered your last words and a small blush made its way to your cheeks.
Your family looked at you and small smiles crept up to their faces at seeing you speak of this girlfriend of yours’. They may still not exactly trust this girl but they will behave if it means keeping you happy.
“We will behave for your sake, dear. Do not worry,” Melina softly told you, as you went to her and hugged her tightly.
“But we won't promise anything that we won't do anything,” Yelena grins at you. And you playfully punch her shoulder before hugging her too.
“FAMILY HUG!” Alexei partially shouts before hugging you, Yelena and Natasha(who groans at being hugged before giving in) lifting all three of you up, Melina comes up from behind and joins in the hug.
Soon after Alexei lets go of the three of you. You then lead them to your apartment building, showing them around before finally arriving at your apartment door room.
Wanda could hear the rustling of keys and the door opening, she could tell it was you when she heard your voice from the other side of the room where she was in. Wanda just finished fixing her hair and a small giggle was let out from her when she heard a loud and boisterous laugh from what she expects to be from your dad and you quickly shushing him.
Few moments later you entered the bedroom where Wanda was currently in “Hello dorogoy(sweetheart),” You wrapped your arms around her waist and gave her a quick soft kiss to her cheek, “My family is in the living room waiting for me to introduce you and they are quickly getting impatient the longer they haven't met you,” You told her, letting out a small laugh.
Wanda could tell you were thinking of something and quickly asked you “What’s wrong lyubov'(love)? What do you have in that beautiful mind of yours?”
“I really want to introduce you already but I think it's better if I take a shower and change out of my work clothes first. I wouldn’t really ask you,but if you want to go ahead and introduce yourself… you could do that. I wouldn’t want you to wait for me. And plus I think it's a good chance for you to have a one-on-one conversation with them,” You suggest to her.
Wanda ponders a bit on the idea “But you don't have to, if you don't want ofcourse, it's your choice. Whichever you pick I'll understand,” You quickly told her slightly worried that she might feel pressured to talk to them alone while you prepare yourself.
“I think it wouldn't be such a bad idea. It’s best to not keep our guest waiting, you know,” she teased. She does think maybe it would be good to introduce herself now more than later while waiting for you. She gave you a quick peck on the lips before directing you to the bathroom “Why don't you start on getting ready and I’ll go and talk with your family.”
“Are you sure you’ll be ok? I can ask them to wait a little bit more if you're uncomfortable doing it alone. You don’t have to do it, you know,” she assures you again that it won't be any trouble and that she can handle herself. And you reluctantly agreed and closed the door to the bathroom.
“You got this Wanda, you can do this!” she tells herself. With one last look in the mirror she quickly left the room and closed the door behind her. She then started walking towards the living room.
Wanda was still nervous but she wanted to try and take this opportunity to meet your family on her own. Never in her life has she felt the hallway to get to the living room ever felt this long. I must be really nervous, she thinks to herself. But as soon as she saw a glimpse of the person sitting down on the couch she was left speechless “Natasha?” she calls out questionly to the red haired girl that she very much knows.
Natasha heard her name being called by a familiar voice she could recognize “Wanda?” she stands up from the couch seeing Wanda in your apartment “What are you doing here?” she quickly asked her. “And how are you here?” she asked her sternly.
Wanda gulps from now just realizing who your family is, and how Natasha is very much glaring straight at her. If looks could kill she was most definitely would’ve been dead by now. “I…-uh live here?” her last words were kind of a whisper but she knows that Natasha most definitely heard her. But before the redhead could ask her more questions a voice was heard from the kitchen.
“Sestra(sister), have you seen the vodka bottles that (Y/n) has in her cupboards? They are very good!” A blonde girl comes out of the open doorway holding one of your vodka bottles and expecting it. Wanda most certainly knows who that blonde girl was; and it was Yelena.
Yelena finally notices Wanda standing in the living room and her face contorts into confusion. “Maximoff? What are you doing here? And where’s (Y/n)?”
Wanda turns her head to where Yelena is standing then turns her head back to Natasha, then back to Yelena, then Natasha. She only then stopped when Natasha walked closer to her, grasping her shoulders with her hands and sternly asking her again the same set of questions she asked a while ago.
“She’s…uhh-she…,” Wanda clears her throat. “She’s taking a shower at the moment…and about me being here. I’m…-uh, her girlfriend.” She finally tells them and she could definitely see how both sisters are surprised – even though they have already kind of figured that out – soon both of them look at her with a glare both plastered on their faces. I’m dead, this is how I die… oh god!, Wanda thinks to herself.
Soon enough Yelena speaks up. “Wait so all this time when you were telling us about the girl you’ve been crushing on and then started dating was our sister?” Wanda gives a small nod in return, her face was filled with fear for her life. “So all the time you were talking about wanting to do things to her in bed…You were referring to her,” Yelena pointed to the hallway where she assumes to be where your bedroom is located “Our sister,” Yelena gags at the many times Wanda has rambled and fantasizes about what she wanted to do to you, but continued to very much harden glare at her direction.
Wanda’s cheeks turn a deep red at the moments she talks about you to them, not realizing they were your sisters! She wanted to crawl and hide in a small corner or hole to be hidden and never be found again; and she most definitely knew that both sisters were fuming.
Natasha seems to actually be the first one to calm down and straighten her back. She knew Alexei and Melina were still in the kitchen looking around since you told them about the vodka bottles that you had. But now seeing one of her teammates at your apartment and you dating them, she was speechless to be honest. You never considered joining the Avengers because you didn't want your life to be filled with action anymore, you wanted a normal life as it can get. She knew you didn’t know any of the Avengers apart from her and Yelena. Although she may let this slide since, she knew what kind of woman Wanda is but that still didn’t stop the anger she was feeling right now; (1) being that she was concerned for your safety if you were dating Wanda (who was an Avenger) that could attract a lot of danger and enemies to you, and (2) was practically that overprotective sister that she was and also because of being reminded of what Wanda had told them before about you and the activities she wanted to do with you, the thought makes her gag internally.
“Ok,” Natasha breathes out, “We can talk about this whole you dating my sister thing later, but I have to know one thing Wanda. Does she know?” Natasha asks her.
Wanda was beet red at this point and was sweating from the tension of the room between the three of them. She understood Natasha’s question to her, Do you know? She thinks maybe you did know she was an Avenger but never told her. But she knows that you never knew, since you never really mentioned anything about them, not even when she asked you if you knew Iron man or Tony stark (who is Iron man). You would always just look at her with a look of confusion.
“No, she doesn’t know,” Wanda nervously tells her. She was playing with the rings at her fingers since this has been the most uncomfortable talk ever in her life.
Yelena and Natasha looked at each other and just nodded. They both went back to what they were doing and that confused the Sokovian even more and made her even more nervous than she originally was before!
Soon later you finished pampering yourself and started heading towards the living room. Upon arriving you saw Wanda standing right at the end of the hallway standing still, you could immediately tell she was nervous and you went up behind her and softly placed one hand behind her and started rubbing her back gently.
“Are you ok Wanda?” you asked. She turns her head facing you and gives you a small smile “I’m ok lyubov'(love).”
You give her one last look before bringing your attention to your redheaded sister that you see sitting down on the couch. You smiled her way and grabbed one of Wanda’s hands and dragged her to meet your sister (you assumed that they hadn't met considering she was just standing still at the end of the hall).
“Natty!” you called for her attention. Your sister looks at you and stands up abruptly and hugs you. “Nat, this is my girlfriend Wanda!” you beamingly smiled at her. Natasha plastered a fake smile and took one of Wanda’s hands in the form of a handshake but grips it tight, “Nice, to meet you Wanda.” she says, hiding the irritation in her voice.
You were oblivious to the terrified look on Wanda’s face and played it off as first-time-meeting-family-jitters. You dragged both Wanda and Natasha to the dining table, where the rest of the family was waiting.
As all three of you entered the dining room, you saw Melina and Alexei conversing with each other, and Yelena taking a shot of vodka, you taught it was her first shot and let it slide but in reality it was her 3rd shot (in her mind this was a way to keep herself from throwing hands at Wanda later on).
“Mama, papa, this is my girlfriend Wanda,” you introduce her to your parents, “Wanda these are my parents, Melina and Alexei.”
Wanda never officially met your parents but she did recognize the names that were mentioned before when Natasha was talking about her “adoptive” family.
“Hello dear, it's finally nice to meet you. I hope you find our family to be a welcoming one,” Melina gives Wanda a small smile from where she was seated. Alexei though was not very calm and stood up quickly and went over to where Wanda was, to say Wanda was not intimidated by the towering man infront of her was very much a lie. “SO! you are the woman that my lovely youngest has been talking about. Welcome to the family!” Alexei grins at her and pats her on the back not minding his own strength, which made Wanda stumble harshly, almost falling face first if you were not holding onto her.
On the other-side of the table where Yelena resided and which Natasha was now seated wished for Wanda to have face planted on the floor when Alexei patted her on the back. To say they were disappointed was subtle for anyone not paying attention.
Once everyone was seated around the table, everything fell into place, your parents and your girlfriend seemed to be getting along quite well and Alexei was enjoying himself by telling the same old story to Wanda about his encounters with Captain America. You saw Wanda looking at you silently asking for help since she didn’t want to be rude.
Although you saw your sisters were still pretty silent, you saw them glance at each other time-to-time probably having some silent conversation with each other, even Melina noticed.
You were happy that Wanda was able to meet your family and converse with them and the same goes for your family. All of you talked from the afternoon till nightfall. You were getting pretty tired and everybody can tell. You didn’t want to end the night yet so you excused yourself to go to the bathroom.
There was a small silence after you left the table before Melina spoke up, “So, you are the scarlet witch from the Avengers. Am I correct?” Wanda choked on her drink and nervously looked at Melina, even Natasha and Yelena were surprised. “Do not worry Wanda, I do not mind that you are an Avenger or that you have powers. What matters to me is that you will protect my daughter and love her with your whole heart,”
Wanda stared at Melina for a few seconds before speaking, “I promise that I will protect (Y/n) from any danger that comes her way and I truly do love her, she’s truly a beautiful women from the inside and out. I’m really lucky that I was the one who caught her heart and that she caught mine,” Wanda answered with love and sincerity in her voice, whether or not your family approves of her she could care less, as long as you approve of her that was already enough.
Melina and Alexei looked at Wanda in complete awe (even Natasha and Yelena were in awe), and were both happy that you were able to find someone to love. They both smile at Wanda in approval before standing up from their seats. Wanda, Yelena and Natasha look at them confused at the sudden action.
“This was such a nice evening and it was a very nice meeting you, Miss Maximoff, but I think it's time for us to go,” Melina stated. “Your going already?” you suddenly appeared from the kitchen doorway with a frown on your face. “Oh my dear milyy rebenok(sweet baby), It is already nightfall and we need to get going. Oh but don't worry we will come visit regularly,” she moves forward to your direction and hugs you tight, you hug back just as tight.
“Ok,” you say before ending the hug, “I’m going to miss you and papa,”you say, before hugging Alexei too. He hugs back before moving beside Melina.
You helped them gather their things and gifted them some of your vodkas for them to take home. You all said your goodbyes and hugged one last time before escorting them out of your apartment building. Once back inside Wanda had already fixed and cleaned the rooms and kitchen, you entered the bedroom and saw her. She was in the bed laying down just waiting for you.
Wanda looked up from the bed to your direction and once she saw you a smile crept up to her face, you always made her feel loved and appreciated and today has been great (well maybe except from your sisters never really knowing if they approved or not but that didn’t matter…at the moment at least.) but that didn’t matter as she knew your parents approved of her and that you loved her with all your heart.
“You look pretty comfy there in bed without me,” you smile cheekily at her. “It could never be comfortable without you here with me. Come to bed with me now, I demand cuddles with the hectic day I had,” she made grabby hands to you and pouted. You could never resist that pout of her, never. If your kids were to inherit that pout, you would never be able to say ‘no’ to them.
You let out a small laugh and proceeded to move to your bed. Wanda lifted up the covers for you to set yourself in, in which you happily do. You're both lying down facing each other, your hands intertwined with each other, even after almost a year of dating you still feel shy doing these small intimate actions with her.
She laughs when she sees the blush on your cheeks and kisses both sides. “Do you know how much I love you,"
"You love me enough to tell me that you were an Avenger?"
She stiffens at your words, "H-How did you know?"
You placed your hand over one side of her cheek, “Calm down lyubov'(love), I am not mad nor surprised,” you let out a small laugh, “you're not very good at hiding it, really. I overheard what you said at the table, and… I'm also, so very lucky that I was the one who caught your heart.” she blushes at the fact that you probably saw her using magic.
You both stare at each other, before leaning in close and connecting each other's lips together. The kiss was passionate and filled with love. You move down your hands to her waist and place yourself on top, you remove your lips from hers when you realize you need oxygen.
“I love you so much Wanda,” you tell her, breathing heavily.
“I love you too,” she says before kissing you again.
The kiss was hungry, you moved down your lips to her neck. Wanda let out a small moan at the action and wrapped her arms around your neck to keep you closer, she started to grind herself under you to help relieve herself of the heat in between her legs. “(Y-Y/n), ple-please don't stop,” she moans.
You started to move down kissing down from her neck to her waist, but before you could continue you heard a loud bang coming from your door. “YOU BETTER HOPE YOUR NOT DOING ANYTHING BAD IN THERE!” you heard one of your sisters yell on the other side. The banging turned into knocks as they continuously did it, “Open this door right now!”
You and Wanda both groaned at the interruption and both laid down beside each other, before looking at one another. You give Wanda a small apologetic smile before standing up and heading to open the door.
Before you could even reach for the door, it opens and both your sisters stumble through. Yelena is first to recover and quickly hugs you making you both fall down. “Wha- Yelana! What are you doing?!” you try to pry off your sister but to no luck. “I’m trying to save you!” and now you're just completely confused, what the absolutely fuck is going on?, you thought to yourself.
Natasha on the other hand heads for your bed where Wanda is still residing, Wanda was just as confused as you but not if terrified on what they were doing. Wanda wanted to ask but squealed as she felt Natasha throw her over her shoulder. Natasha said nothing and just walked for the door. Wanda could easily overpower Natasha with her powers but opted to not use it fearing she would get hurt.
“NATASHA! Why are you carrying my girlfriend?” you seethed, still struggling under Yelena, who was hugging you tighter.
“Don't worry she will sleep outside,” Yelena quips.
“What the actual fuck? NO! You both are supposed to sleep outside - While me and my girlfriend sleep together,” you were finally able to push Yelena off and rushed to get to Wanda. You stepped in front of Natasha and kicked her in the stomach but not strong enough to really hurt her. She let go of Wanda and you grab her, wrapping your arms protectively around her.
“Both of you have gone crazy!” you yell at them.
Natasha recovers from the kick and stands up, “I don’t want you to be alone with her in a room – with a bed,” she stated. “Good thing we came just in time too,” Yelena remarked from behind Natasha.
You pinch the bridge of your nose and sighed heavily, Wanda places a comforting hand behind your back. “Nat, don't you think this is a bit overkill?” Wanda asked. Natasha shakes her head signifying ‘no’. “If it's to protect my sister nothing is to overkill,” glaring slightly at Wanda.
“Come now sestra’(sister), we're just trying to protect what innocence you have left,” Yelena laughs. “Dear god,” you mumble to yourself. “Natty, Yel. You both will stay outside and sleep in the guestroom or sleep outside, your choice,” you raise your one brow with a madden expression telling them that you're serious. They stare at you shocked and reluctantly they start walking to the guest room, moving past you and Wanda.
“So sorry about them, if I knew letting them stay here for the night would lead up to this, then I would've never let them sleep over,” you chuckled awkwardly at Wanda.
“Don’t worry about it, it's pretty endearing with how willing they were to protect you and I don't really mind at all,” she grabs your arm and drags you to the bed, “They’re your family and I know they did it out of love for you,”
You stop yourself before reaching the bed, “Let me close the door then we can sleep,” you go to close the door but hear your sister shout from the guest room, “DO NOT CLOSE THAT DOOR!” she yells. “SHUT UP AND SLEEP!” you responded back, and shut the door.
“Oh you will never hear the end of it when you meet them back at the Avengers place, I can tell.”
“A punishment I will have to bear. I think I'll just have to stay here then, till they calm down and wont kill me on sight,” Wanda laughs.
“You know I'll never let them kill you,” you tell her as you lay down on the bed.
You move close to Wanda and hug her in your arms as you get yourself comfortable. “I know,” she says before hugging you back tighter.
Both of you fell asleep in each others arms peacefully.

PICKPOCKET
Tumblr media
Yelena x F!Reader Masterlist
Word Count: 3,884
Summary: A taxi, an interview, a drink, and then an attempted abduction.
Warnings: fluff, it gets dark for like two seconds, a family of pickpockets, whoop whoop that’s the sound of da police.
The bustling streets of Cleveland were no match for someone 10 minutes late to an interview. This was your fifth job lined up this week, and you tanked the other four. You had no luck when it came to these things, and no one wants to hire someone without experience.
You have two weeks to figure something out, or else your landlord is kicking you from your tiny studio. It’s above a Chinese restaurant, so the smell and heat alone are not worth what she’s charging in rent. You know you don’t have any other options.
You find the corner you told the taxi to meet you at, but it is nowhere to be seen. You wait, no so patiently, biting the remnants of fingernails you have left. Like you said, you have no luck. You see the car stop at the red light across the intersection, and hope this driver doesn’t mind speeding.
You walk to the curb, raising your arm to hail the cab down. A blonde woman walks up in front of you, throwing her arm up walking backwards to match your stance. You have no clue what she’s doing; this taxi belongs to you.
“Excuse me?” You say, nudging past her to reach the car door faster. Her reflexes outmatch yours by a mile, she opens the door, sliding in. “I just thought, we share yeah?”
You stand holding the door open, looking side to side in disbelief. She can’t be serious. “Listen lady, I have an interview I’m already late for, I can’t do this today.” You plead.
You lean down to see the woman talking to the driver through the plexiglass. There’s no time to argue anymore. You slide into the black leather seat, slamming the door. “Me first.” You roll your eyes, jutting out the address of your destination.
The driver peels away, you take a chance to relax. Practiced questions go through your mind. You can’t mess this job up, you options were exhausted. You wipe your eyes, trying to ease the throbbing stress behind them. You pull your fingers away to see them covered in black streaks. Your eyes widen, you forgot you’re wearing makeup.
You grab your purse from beside you, searching for your bedazzled compact mirror. All of the contents of your bag were strewn across your lap, it’s gone. You throw your head back, grunting through your teeth. “What’s wrong?” Your co-passenger asks. You look over to her, the reason evident on your face.
“My mascara.” You say defeated. You know you must look like a pouting child to the woman. Her dark eyes give you pity, and her bottom lip puffs out. “Oh sweetie. I’ll help you.” She pulls a complimentary taxi tissue from the box between you. Wrapping it around her finger she test swipes under your eye.
You’re frozen in place, she’s absolutely gorgeous. You were too fogged by anger to even get a good look at her. If it wasn’t for her telling accent, you’d know she was foreign based on looks. No one from around here looked like her.
She reached forward with her other hand gently holding onto your chin; when a bump cause her fingers to run across your lips. Her eyes are focused on yours, meticulously wiping away the black lacquer. She pulls her tissued hand away, you think she’s finished. “How do I thank you?” You attempt to smile, she’s still holding your chin.
“Not finished.” She drops the tissue and licks her thumb, your eyebrows raise as she wipes just under your lip. “Lipstick.” She says casually, opting to wipe her finger on her shirt sleeve and not the tissue. You release a breath you didn’t know you were holding. “Thank you.” You’re too embarrassed now to attempt a conversation.
“No need to thank me, I do it gladly for a pretty woman like you.” You laugh out loud, you were the runt of the litter compared to her. “You don’t have to say that.” You say, letting your hair fall in your face. How did you go from hating this woman for making you later; to wanting her to kiss you?
“That will be 12 dollars.” The driver breaks you out of the daze she put you in. You nod your head, fishing for your debit card. The blonde woman reaches past you, taping to pay on his card reader. “Go crush that interview, pretty woman.” She says, reaching past you again to open your door.
You’re speechless as she shoos you out of the cab. You turn to look at the office building behind you and the taxis already gone. You didn’t even get her name. You kick yourself as you walk into the building, the woman more present on your mind than the interview.
————————————————————————
That’s all it took, the woman’s face consuming your every thought. You didn’t overthink the questions the manager asked. You literally couldn’t, too preoccupied with the way the corners of her lips curled up. You smiled as you looked over your new work schedule. You knew you could do it, god, you’re so happy you could kiss that stranger in the back of the taxi.
You walk out of the building, eyes in a crescent shape, your smile touching each ear. “How did it go?” Your head jerks to the side and your smile instantly fades. What was once a meet cute is now an almost stalker situation. “What are you doing here?” You say, stopping in your tracks. No matter how attractive a person is, you always have your guard up.
She throws her hands up “Hey, no need to act that way. I just felt too invested to not know. So?” She says, not ashamed of her actions, fully expecting you to answer her. “I uh, I got the job.” You can’t help but to smile at your little victory.
“Sounds like we need to celebrate.” She says, pulling her phone from her pocket, searching for bars nearby. You find yourself raising your brows at the stranger yet again. “I’m sorry, but I don’t really hang out with strangers, who invaded my taxi.” You say, regretting turning her down.
She nods her head, stuffing her phone back into her pocket. “You know, I just thought you owe me.” She steps closer to you, entering your personal space. “You won’t get a drink with me but you’ll let me pay your fair?” You look up to meet her eyes, they have a deviance to them. “You did that before I had the chance.” You almost shy away from her, but then she’s telling you her name. “I’m Yelena, and you’re Y/N?”
“How do you know my name?” You say, anxiety coming back. “When he dropped me off, that’s what he called me.” She nods over to the taxi, idle on the curb. “So, can I buy you a drink for being a good girl and getting the job, or not?” Your cheeks blush, no one had ever called you a good girl before.
“One drink.” You say, trying to play off all the emotions flowing through you. “Yay, that’s what I like to see.” She says, grabbing your hand to pull you to the taxi. Her hand was warm, and strong, you don’t know if she saw it the way you did, but it had you gushing yet again.
“Three blocks down, take a right.” She says to the driver, undoubtedly happy to have so much business from you two. “I appreciate whatever interest you have in me, but what’s going on in your life that you can just minorly stalk a stranger?” You say, needing to know more about the mysterious woman.
She smiles at you, “I was bored.”. Hard to believe she had nothing better to do. “So you invaded my taxi for fun?” She shakes her head, “I came back, for fun.” She looks out the window and knocks on the glass “We’re here. Don’t wait up.”
You jump out of the car and wait on her to pay. What a gentleman you giggle to yourself. “Come with me.” She doesn’t reach for your hand this time. Instead she strides in front of you, swinging open the door to the little pub. “My mother works here, so free drinks.” She nods you in.
Can this day get any better you laugh to yourself. Now she grabs your hand and pulls you to the bar. “Mama, this is Y/N.” She yells over the drunk hum of the pub. Her mother looked too young to actually be her mother. They shared no resemblance at all. “Hello Y/N, I’m Melina.” She reaches out to shake your hand, but before she can, Yelena interrupts “Not her, Mama.” She says giver her mother a stern look.
Melina just blinks at her, giving you no indication on what she meant. She still reaches forward and shakes your hand, “It’s nice to meet one of Yelena’s friends.” She says.
“I wouldn’t go that far but.” You say, poking fun at you two being complete strangers. “We’re not friends.” Yelena says, clarifying that whatever this was, wasn’t friendly.
“Good to know.” You say, ordering a beer from her mom. Yelena sits on the stool beside you, speaking up when her mother walks away. “I didn’t mean it like that.”
You take a swig of the beer that was at in front of you. “I didn’t take it any certain way.”. Yelena just looks at you, picking up her beer. “I like you more than that.” She takes a sip, looking away from you. So she was interested.
“So, Yelena, what else do you do besides pester strangers?” You flirt with her, picking at your nails and avoiding eye contact.
She grabs your hand, running her thumb across the peeled skin. “I like meeting new people, it’s not a crime.” You nod your head, letting her play with your fingers. “I’m kind of in my family business.” She says, not letting on to any more information.
“And what would that be? You can’t bring me to your moms bar and act coy now.” She downs the rest of her beer, looking over at you as the last few drops fall from the glass. “You wanna see the family business?” She stands, waving over her mother.
You nod, jumping off your stool. “I’ll see you at home Mama.” “You girls be safe, don’t hurt anyone!” You laugh out loud, not knowing how serious she was being. She starts walking down the sidewalk with you in tow. “Where are we going?” You say, bumping into a man that split Yelena and you apart. You roll your eyes, looking ahead to see Yelena picking up a woman’s purse for her. How caring, you think.
She walks beside you, looping her arm in yours. “To my house.” She says, stopping to smell fresh flowers at a kiosk. “First I meet your mom, now you’re taking me home. What did I do to deserve this?” You laugh.
She makes a quick turn down an alley, dragging you along. “It’s only weird if you make it weird.” She makes a great point. “This is me.” She says, opening a metal back door. “Nat, I’m Home.” She yells out, slinging down her bag.
“You’re home early.” A red head comes hopping down the stairs. She was just as beautiful as Yelena. Too gorgeous to be from around here. “Who’s this?” She says, aiming her attention towards you.
“I’m Y/N.” You give her a small wave, sheepishly standing behind Yelena. She smiles, mumbling to Yelena about needing to pay the water bill. “I’ll get it as soon as I can, it’s been a slow day.”
“Not slow, you’ve been preoccupied.” Nat bites back. Yelena groans “Let’s do this later, please.” She begs, not wanting to to make her company suffer through sisters arguing.
Nat turns around, ascending the stairs. “I thought you meant your business was out of your home, it looks pretty normal in here.” You say still in the dark.
“It is.” She points to the 70 inch tv behind her. You take a better look around and notice brand new appliances in the dilapidated kitchen. There were holes in the couch cover, but a MacBook was sitting on the coffee table. Your eyebrows furrow, “Not to be rude, but it kind of seems like your priorities are out of line. If the water bill needs paid, why own a Mac?” You might have overstepped.
“I’m trying to jailbreak it, it’s not ours.” She says, understanding your confused position. “Oh.” You say, still not understanding.
Yelena walks to the living room, sitting on the couch. “Wanna watch something?” She says, scrolling through Netflix. You accompany her, squeezing in on the love seat. “Of course, i didn’t have plans or anything.” You say sarcastically. This beautiful stranger could keep you here for days and you wouldn’t even notice that time past.
“I got you something.” She says, finally picking a movie. “How is that even possible, we met less than two hours ago.” She hadn’t been out of your sight since the interview. She pulls a tiny gold chain bracelet from her pocket. “I can’t accept that.” You say, feeling instant guilt that she spent money on you.
“It’s nothing, really.” She says, clasping it around your wrist. “I found it.”. You ogle the shining gold, you’d never owned anything like this. “How do I thank you?” You say, turning towards her in your seat. “Don’t, it’s nothing.” She assures you.
You look at your wrist to admire your new bracelet and see the time staring back at you. “It’s getting late, I should probably go.” You say, gathering yourself to leave. “Right.” Yelena says sadly, not letting you see the way her eyes hardened.
You take out a ripped piece of an envelope from your purse and quickly jot down your phone number. You lean over the couch, holding the paper beside her face, due to her keeping her back to you. “Call me.” You say, waiting for her to take the paper. She turns to give you a tight lipped smile and gently snatches the paper from you, throwing it down on the coffee table.
You wonder what changed, one second she’s gushing over you, now she’s acting like you really are a stranger. Walking out of the back alley door, you close it without another word. That was weird, you think to yourself as you make your way towards the smell of home.

You smile as you walk up to a neon red dragon. A bell jingles when you enter, alerting Kevin that someone was here. “I’ll be right with you!” He has his back to you while on the phone, probably taking an order. “It’s just me Kev.” He turns around and gives you a smile, rolling his eyes pointing at the phone. You laugh, he always tells you about horrible customers.
The phone claps on the hook and he turns toward the counter. “You look like your day was worse than mine.” He says, packing a brown paper bag with white containers. You shake your head no. “It was just random. First this woman tries to steal my taxi,”. He raises an eyebrow at you. “Right! Dude I was so pissed. But something else happened that kind of made up for the bad start.” He places the packed bag under the heat lamps. “SPILL IT!” He says, wiping down the counter in front of you.
“I got the job!” You squeal, no one was in the restaurant or else you would’ve been scolded by Kevin’s dad. “Girl, I am so happy for you, now you can tell Mrs. Jones to suck it. You’re not going anywhere.” She was the restaurants landlord too. Kevin’s Dad had many problems with her in the past, but he always figured it out, he told you that you would figure it out too.
“Hopefully, just keep your fingers crossed that everything works out.” You say to him, a customer walks in and Kevin switches his attention. You phone dings and you pull it from your pocket.
Unknown: sorry about earlier, I wanna see you again.
You stare down at the screen, maybe she didn’t have a change of heart. Kevin walks back up to you, his apron gone and the kitchen lights off. Typing out a quick reply you stand from your stool. “Who you texting?” He says, curious.
“No one, just the woman from the taxi…” you say, hoping he doesn’t catch on. “And why would you be texting her?” He ushers you out of the store, locking up for the night.
“We might have gotten a drink after the interview. And I might have went back to her house.” You look at your feet, far too ashamed to face your friend.
“Okay, where do I even begin? Are you crazy?” Kevin says, grabbing your arm, stopping you from turning down the alley to your door. “Hear me out.” You laugh, trying to play off the severity of it.
Kevin crosses him arms, “Please, explain why you threw caution to the wind and went on a rendezvous with a possible murderer. I’m listening.”.
“First of all, she’s not a murderer. Secondly, she’s hot.” You say, finally making the short walk to your door. You unlock it and look behind you. Kevin shakes his head in disapproval, “Just, promise to be safer next time?” He asks, pressing a button on his key that makes a loud beeping sound. The headlights of his car flickered against the side of the building.
“Yeah, yeah, promises, promises. Get home safe.” You wave him off as you walk into your stairway entry. Climbing the stairs in the dark. You reach the top to see your front door cracked open, a light coming from inside.
You’re sure you locked both doors before you left. You slowly step into the small studio, you’re facing the open bathroom door when you enter. No one was in there, unless they’re hiding behind your clear shower curtain. You step out from behind the door to see someone sitting in your chair, facing the window.
Without thinking you shout out, “What are you doing in my house?”. If you could slap yourself right now, you would. You constantly say the wrong thing, and here you were being slightly too nice to an intruder. They turn the chair around and every hair on your body stands.
“Yelena?” You say, terror showing in your eyes. She just sits there. “How do you know where I live? Why are you here? Did you break into my house?” You take a step back, not wanting to believe it.
“I had to, you gave me no other choice. Running away like that earlier.” She ignores your other questions. You scoff, “I wasn’t running away. It got late, besides I don’t really have to explain myself to you.” Your hand reaches in your pocket, grasping your phone.
You know you should’ve called the police as soon as you seen the door open. But you just can’t help yourself. Yelena noticed your hand gripping something. “I think you might have mistaken my kindness.” She says. A chill runs down the back of your spine, “What? This?” You take the golden chain from your wrist, and throw it to her lap.
She wraps it around her fingers, smiling. “You should feel lucky, I don’t take every girl to meet my mom.” She says, standing up and walking towards you. You take another step before your back hits the wall. You look to your right, the dark stairs were your only exit. Before you could react she was slamming the door on your foot.
You scream out in pain and try to pry the door off your foot. Yelena steps closer to you now that you’re trapped. “You’re a psycho!” You yell in her face. Kevin was right, the woman from the taxi is a murderer.
“Why do you make things so hard for yourself, huh?” She caresses your cheek and you push her hand away. “See?” She tuts.
She opens the door and you jerk your foot free. You lung toward your kitchenette. A knife block sat at the edge of your counter. Maybe if you had a knife she’d leave. Before you could take a step she trips you, grabbing your arm and twisting it behind your back. She leads you to your bed.
You don’t fight back in fear of her breaking your arm. You know you can’t scream. Kevin was the last one out down stairs. The carpet store next door was closed because the owners were on vacation. You’re forced to sit down on the edge of it. She doesn’t let go of your arm and stands in front of you. “What do you want?”.
Tears start to form in your eyes. Yelena juts out her bottom lip and runs her hand over your hair, “Don’t cry baby girl, I don’t want to hurt you.” She coos.
You roll your eyes “then what?” You can’t play along for much longer before you really try to escape. “Natasha says I’m not good with rejection.” She says, inspecting the threads on your shirt.
You feel something in your heart, like it broke a little bit for her, how could she possibly think you rejected her. “I would never reject you, look at you.” You say, pleading for this to end. It almost hurt your feelings being in her presence reminded you how Neanderthal you were compared to her.
“Then why did you leave?” She says, acting like she has all the answers. “You left to go sit in an empty Chinese restaurant.” She says, looking at her feet, now not feeling so confident, she thought she wasn’t as important as fortune cookies and low mein.
“Kevin closes up alone every night, what kind of friend would I be if I let him do that? There’s safety in numbers, that is all, I promise. I would’ve stayed if it wasn’t for that.” You explain yourself to her, just like you said you didn’t have to do.
You find yourself feeling guilty, like this was all a misunderstanding. “I’m sorry I made you feel like I was running away from you.” You look up into her eyes, “let’s just forget all this, okay?” You say, desperately needing her to remove the pressure from your arm.
“I don’t think I can do that. What’s stopping you from turning me in for breaking and entering? What’s stopping you from pressing charges?” She says, thinking over her options.
The words spill from your mouth before you have a chance to stop them “Why would I call the cops on my girlfriend? That’s not very nice.” You say, playing along with her psycho antics. You force a smile, even though your arm was on fire.
Yelena searches your eyes for sincerity, she must have found some, since she releases you arm and massages your shoulder. “Sorry about that.” She says, sitting beside you on the bed.
You nod, rubbing your nervous hands on your knees. “Girlfriend huh?” Yelena teases. You look over to her, wondering if she’s serious. “Break into my house and subdue me huh?”.
