HOLY SHIT ANT MAN QUANTUMANIA SLAPPED
Tumblr media
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD
holy shit
that was wild af
ok first of all, them not even being subtle w the whole thing being kind of a metaphor for colonization? our first intro to teen cassie being her getting arrested for fighting back attacks on a peaceful protest? slaps
Tumblr media
i love her sm.
also the whole time i could not get over how great everyone’s eyelashes looked
i want the scott book so bad fr you can buy it through marvel
RYAN? AS IN BUZZFEED UNSOLVED RYAN?
I SCREAMED BRO AND SO DID MY FRIEND
the quantum realm looked so cool so things i thought were cool saga:
the manta ray flying thing
the snail horses
the hot general lady
the hot telepath
the sun jellyfish
um. the ant society? hello there are probs trillions of them what we saw at the end was a tiny fraction and i love that for them so much. you don’t understand that made me so happy.
WHAT THE FUCK WAS DARREN
HOWD HE GO FROM THIS
Tumblr media
TO THIS
Tumblr media
shit was horrific and when i first saw it i very loudly said “oh my gawd” in a full imax theater
ok but his death made me so sad. like cassie just gave him this great pep talk and he fuckin dies. what the hell. rip new avenger
maybe i’m just too emotional
hot general lady was hot and her staff could make people disappear
WHYD THEY KILL THE ROBOT DUDE NO
HE LOOKED LIKE RESIN
>:(
janet being a badass fr fr
omg my ear is bleeding
oh well moving on
that scene in the probability storm with all the scotts helping each other made me cry baskin robins scott slayed
ok but the rings around kang’s ship thing reminded me of the shang chi rings
and the ten rings were also emitting a signal, like how they all got into the quantum realm in the first place
Tumblr media
the mid credits scene confused me lmao. i guess it’s the council thing from the loki series
BUT THAT POST CREDIT SCENE
ooh.
#let möbius and loki kiss 2023
Tumblr media
but overall, this movie slapped. i say that about every movie but still. i loved the emphasis on scott and cassie’s relationship, i thought the special effects looked cool, and the creativity put into making the people of the quantum realm diverse but still very human was tangible.
10/10 good movie, though i do think it’s funny that ant man went from “thief that hangs out with his bestie in san francisco and occasionally fights with the avengers” to “oh my god he saved everyone and is now stuck with a very powerful multiversal enemy”

After the Hela episode of What If...?, I rewatched Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings and it is exactly as delightful as I remembered it being and I really really I'm going to be pissed off if we don't get another Shang-Chi film soon. like I could give a fuck about the Kang Dynasty but I definitely want to see Shang and Katy figuring out cosmic shit with Wong.
Speaking of Wong and that tag, one of my favourite running gags continues to be Carol desperately trying to avoid being press ganged into the Avengers or even being Avengers adjacent. The whole 'Bruce has got my number,' and Bruce responding 'I do not. I do not have her number. She does this a lot.'
(I do however absolutely believe that she and King Valkyrie are low-key dating.)
And just imagining how much Kamala is going to force her to interact with the world now that she is actually moved out of her spaceship and back into the Rambeau house until Monica gets back brings me such delight and especially I would like to know when Sam is going to show up to be neighbourly.
Cos you know it is only going to take about 15 seconds before Sarah lets him know that the grapevine has already been going crazy with another Avenger in NOLA. And Carol would be like how did you even find out and Kamala be like 'that would be me I posted on Instagram I'm by the way totally managing your fan page unofficially on Instagram and I didn't post the address of your house or anything' when in fact she totally geotagged a selfie like from the backyard.
I also love that despite Jersey City being as far away from New Orleans as you can be in many ways, the Khan family has accepted Carol as one of their own and helped her unpack and probably do a bunch of stuff that she had no idea how to do like get the electricity and phone and water and gas switched over to her name so she could pay them and she's like I have no money and Nick Fury face-palming like I will get you money.
(And the whole flashback with Maria being like so you need to take the cat and she's like oh no no no no we have had this discussion as if the cat is sort of their adopted child that they share custody of which I completely understand because lemon sharks and I share custody of Flynn and thank God Flynn does not have the ability to eat an entire cargo shipment and then throw it up a week later on the carpet.)
anyway I'm going to be seriously pissed off if Monica Rambeau is just written off being in a different Earth in the multiverse and we never get to see her and Sam meet. That will make me very very angry and I would like that not to happen, and I want to have faith I really do. But I do not entirely have faith? there has been a small lack of faith. especially when The Marvels did just fine and yet is being declared a huge box office bomb when it did the same numbers as other movies that were considered modest successes. It's like not every superhero movie needs to be a gigantic tent pole movie that brings in a hundred bajillion dollars some of them are just ladies road trip movies that happened to take place in space.

i’ll be getting over you my whole life (teenage!shang-chi x fem!reader)
A little thing, because I was inspired and I have a newfound love after watching Shang-chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings again. Also, I realize there aren’t enough fics for this guy. Maybe a part two soon xo
+++
There is a weight that you have to learn to live with when you eat and sleep, and if you’re a boy, train, at the Ten Rings compound.
It’s something you discover your mind only has the capacity to form around so you bend and don’t break.
He pulled you aside just a moment before, but it wasn’t to say anything. In the shadowed, open-air hall that lines the outside courtyard, he stands opposite of you.
This is a new, soft thing, and those are hard to find as deep and high in the mountains as you both are in this compound, so he doesn’t touch you. Not at first. His face gives away nothing, but you’ve been learning how to read his eyes. They hold the depths of all that he is holding but doesn’t speak about.
If your mother was here, she might roll her eyes at the way you think about him. The way you act as if you are beyond the age of 14 (though in some ways, you are). She would tell you, from the wisdom of experience, that you should be careful. That the pain that came from first love as a teenager wasn’t always worth it. That there were more important things to focus on.
Shang-qi’s touch is tender as he leans forward and slowly takes your hand in his. It’s somewhat unfamiliar and awkward because you two haven’t had a lot of time, if any, to spend together. But there have been some sweet pockets, little moments, where his smile changes the whole course of your monotonous day. Stolen glances before training as you linger as long as you can in the courtyard before you are sent away. Whispers in the darkened hallway between his room and yours. Sitting across from each other at breakfast, before anyone else has arrived, early enough to watch the sunrise without interruption.
You both don’t understand much about dating, or love, but you understand that whatever this is between you needs to stay under the radar and private. You think you’ve done a good enough job to not alert anybody, especially Shang-qi’s father. He’s gone a lot anyway.
There’s a weight Shang-qi carrying tonight that he wasn’t carrying before. It’s in the set of his shoulders and his posture.
You hold his hand for a moment longer before releasing it.
Instead, your hands come to cup his face.
“Do what you must tonight.”
You let the silence surrounding you both echo your words as Shang-qi exhales. A small moment of vulnerability comes as he presses his forehead to yours. You close your eyes and soak in the feeling.
When you open your eyes and find Shang-qi gazing at you, you know. He won’t be making any promises to you tonight.
Your eyes begin to water but you swallow the tears into your throat and inhale. You take a second quick breath once you realize this is the closest his lips have come to yours.
You try to imprint this feeling into your mind so that when you remember this moment again, you can make it last as long as you can.
He cannot bear to stay goodbye, so he will not say anything at all.
“Go,” You take a step back, “Your last words should be to her.”
Xialing, his sister, waits on the steps a few feet in front of you. He gives you one last lingering look and then turns to sit with her. They talk only for a moment before the sound of helicopter blades echoes against the sides of the mountain and almost overwhelms the silence the compound is set in.
You can tell even from the distance that he says no words when Wenwu greets him. He only nods as he grabs his bag and walks away.
It will be fifteen years before you see him again.

i dread the fact that we might have ff2 instead of eternals 2 and captain marvel 3, assuming that the ff movie will be more successful since it's a mostly white cast
Well, you know "White (males) sells" is a phrase that comes from somewhere 🤷🏾‍♀️
While that's we all know that's how the majority of those who call the shots in Hollywood see it, your prediction sadly wouldn't be unsurprising
I truly think that we (the audience, the consumers) all just have superhero fatigue, and I say this as someone who grew up on comic books of my own and those belonging to family members, and the tv shows that used to play on channels like FOX Kids and Kids' WB
This is also sad because films like Shang-Chi and the Legend fo the Ten Rings, Black Panther, Wakanda Forever, The Marvels, Into The SpiderVerse and Across The SpiderVerse are all FANTASTIC films. (I'm excluding The Eternals because I have yet to see it 😅) And they have obviously been hits with the audiences
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'll include Eternals and Captain Marvel just because, despite remembering how the ratings were bombed before they were even released, like Black Panther was
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(These came from Rotten Tomatoes and The Numbers.)
Not even counting other Marvel films that had leads of color like Thor Ragnarok, Thor Love and Thunder, and Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy (not thinking about the skin coloring for a second) having leads played by actors of color has made Hollywood money, especially when it's done by a team who are passionate about the project such as BP, WF, and Shang-Chi. So, in theory, having a Fantastic Four cast involving more than one actor of color, like the 2015 film did, would not be too much of a negative hit for the MCU. They will still be making tons and tons of money regardless.
Unfortunately, there is the racism (i.e. all of the films) and the misogyny (i.e. Captain Marvel, The Marvels) that is still a big, global issue. And because Hollywood talks in dollar signs, you might be right

Hypothetical MCU show: “Shang-Chi and the Hawkeyes”
PLOT SUMMARY:
A few months after the events of “Hawkeye”, Kate Bishop has been living on the Barton family farm in order to finish training with Clint Barton. Despite a rough adjustment period due to city girl Kate moving into a farm, the training has been going well. Kate is ready to start her superhero career, but Clint is hesitant, especially since he’s started viewing her as his daughter figure. Since the two Hawkeyes have been doing nothing but training, the Bartons decide to take everyone on a vacation to San Francisco.
Around the same time, Shang-Chi has been working with Wong to figure out what the origins of the Ten Rings are. From what they found, they learn that Wenwu stole the rings from the mystical lost city K’un L’un, home of the Iron Fist. Shang-Chi learns this the hard way when he’s confronted by the current Iron Fist, Colleen Wing, who wants the rings back (this would be the first major fight scene of the show).
Shang-Chi and Colleen’s fight is interrupted by a group of mercenaries who are also after the rings. The mercenaries are being led by the main villain Kenuichio Harada (also known as Silver Samurai), the most powerful crime boss in all of Japan and Wenwu’s most hated rival. This leads to a massive chase scene, which ends with Shang-Chi running into the Bartons.
So, unfortunately for Clint and Kate, they’re forced into the fight now that they’ve gotten involved with Shang-Chi. But we’re also hit with a twist; Silver Samurai, upon learning that Clint Barton is helping Shang-Chi, puts all his resources into play to stop our heroes. This is because Clint killed Harada’s twin brother Akihiko, the same Yakuza boss from “Endgame”.
Thus, we have multiple arcs for our heroes to deal with:
1) Shang-Chi trying to make peace with Colleen Wing, as well as trying to prevent the Silver Samurai from stealing the ten rings
3) Clint Barton being forced to deal with his Ronin past once again since his killing of Akihiko has come back to haunt him
4) Kate Bishop on her first rodeo as the newly minted Hawkeye, as well as facing off against super-powered people for the first time
5) While all this is happening, the Barton family and Katy Chen find themselves being targeted due to their ties to Shang-Chi, Clint, and Kate
CAST:
Of course, we have our returning characters Clint Barton, Kate Bishop, and Xu Shang-Chi.
Laura Barton and the Barton kids will likely have more prominent roles in this series, especially since they’ll be paired up with Katy Chen.
Wong comes back as a guest character.
Since Akihiko is Kenuichio’s twin, Hiroyuki Sanada is brought back to play Silver Samurai.
Jessica Henwick reprises her role as Colleen Wing.
Tony Leung briefly reprises his role as Wenwu, specifically to show how Wenwu stole the ten rings from K’un L’un.
MISCELLANEOUS:
1) The season’s story can be split like this: Group A is Clint, Kate, and Shang-Chi / Group B is the Barton family and Katy / Group C is Colleen Wing on her own / Silver Samurai is the main threat to all three groups.
2) I pictured the main trio’s dynamic to be that Clint relates to Shang-Chi due to them being men who are trying to escape their past. Shang-Chi and Kate get along as newbie heroes. Maybe this isn’t a perfect comparison, but think of them as Batman, Batgirl, and one of the Robins.
3) Show ends with Clint giving his blessing to Kate to join the Avengers, as well as inviting Shang-Chi to join. Clint ponders retirement, but then says something about how being in San Francisco has made him consider moving out to the West Coast (obviously a nod to a potential West Coast Avengers team).
4) Colleen and Shang-Chi make peace at the end and it’s implied that Colleen will continue to appear in the Shang-Chi movies. It’s also implied she knows the secret behind the rings (the signal that it sent out at the end of the first Shang-Chi movie).

All right, fellow MCU fans
So, after seeing the Marvels today, it got me thinking. Now, you probably don't know who I am. But I do happen to be a writer. Not a very good one mind you (several people would say otherwise, but shush, give me my self-loathing) Phase 4 (and the current parts of 5) is not that great. So I want to rewrite the Multiverse Saga. Yes. The entire thing. Even though it's not finished.
Very long blocks of text below. It's really the only thing that keeps me organized. Please read it though if you are interested. It'll be split up into sections, for somewhat easy perusal.
Now, I know this is an ambitious project, and one not done. I am no stranger to things like this, see my own game/show I'm making. (This is the only time I'm going to mention it. But I am pretty proud of it) So, for my very small amount of sanity, I'm stopping it at The Marvels, and Loki season 2 (Oops, still not finished with it yet). And I wanted to ask people what they thought was lackluster, or mediocre. Not the Marvel I and many other people grew up on. I do understand that it was flawed before, but when I recently rewatched most of them, I found that my childhood love for them had blossomed into something new. I was 6 when the first Avengers came out. I learned how to shoot a bow because of Hawkeye in that movie. And I think it deserves better, especially after watching the Marvels.
Now, this means everything after Endgame. So from Black Widow to The Marvels in terms of the movies, and the Disney+ series from Wandavision to Loki Season 2. I have a feeling it's going to take me a second to get through the remaining 5 episodes of Loki S2. My family wants to watch it with me, and they're all decently busy... Anyways, that's 10 movies, and 9 series. Although I don't accept Secret Invasion. Like at all. Anyways.
I have yet to decide what I'm going to publish this on. Probably A03, just because that's easiest for me. And I can organize much easier. Do let me know what you think.
So, before I get into the problems I've identified, feel free to stop here, and reblog or ask me your problems with the aforementioned shows and movies. I'm talking writing or character problems, as we've seen in the series. I am a fan of the comics, but you can divert from that, or stick to them.
Oh, and if you say something like "Make it more queer", I am a raging bisexual enby. I will already be making it queer as fuck, and can be convinced to ship pretty much anyone, if I can get a good reasoning behind it. Minors should be shipped with only minors. That's one of my few rules, if you send anything to me. So yeah, I'm doing genderfluid Loki.
Thoughts on everything:
This is just here so that I don't get a ton of repeats. I'll go movies first, then the TV shows.
Black Widow (2021) - Honestly, this is too late of a movie. Natasha deserved this before Endgame or Infinity War came out. But release dates aside, Taskmaster needs more screentime, and a chance to show how menacing they are. Natasha also needs more time with her family, and the parents need to be fleshed out a bit more. Belova is far too smart to be tricked by the lady in the post-credit scene.
Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings (2021) - I don't have any major problems with this movie. The Great Protector, or the dragon, and the supernatural creature, I think he's called Dweller In Darkness, kinda felt a little blank, and the Dweller shouldn't have died, only been pushed back. And I don't like Katy that much. Trevor is much better comedic relief in my opinion.
Eternals (2021) - Oh boy, where do we start with this one? You know it's bad if I can't remember any of the main characters names besides Ikarus. And that's because I was laughing my ass off at him throwing himself into the sun. There was also the Celestial I think it was? Anyways that thing broke islands up, and then just became a massive statue, and like no one mentions it? I don't remember much else about this movie, even after having watched it like 3 times. Oh, and the Ebony Blade was shown off. I like that if they can do something fun with that.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) - Dr. Strange feels a little shoe-horned in. The whole sanctum being overtaken by snow was pretty clever, but Strange being a father figure to Peter is not super well established. Could be fixed with a couple of rewrites. Or Strange and Stark being together. Peter is a dumbass, and the reason for him starting the whole plot... is so dumb. I understand, teenagers can be stupid, hell, I go to public high school, but Peter's shown he's a lot smarter than this. But I do like the crossover (Dafoe as Green Goblin my beloved) and the fact that the other Spidermen get to say goodbye in one last movie. Anyways, Ned's wizard connections need to be elaborated on as well.
Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness (2022) - Alright, getting my biggest problem out of the way first. Wanda's corruption arc should have been shown. It should have been developed through the movie, and Wanda should have been with Strange and America. She can still be evil, and die after she realizes her actions, but this basically destroys the point of Wandavision. She was willing to say goodbye. Wanda has been a favorite of mine for years, and I read her comics religiously as a child. We need to see the power of the Scarlet Witch. What it did without Wanda. Her "No More Mutants" line sent chills down my spine the first time I read it. Sam Raimi directed this movie. Strange and Wanda should have had more horrific shit. And that one Strange with 3 eyes should have been the one from What If. We need horror in this. America also needs to be more fleshed out. I do love her, but we get like one scene of her being traumatized of basically growing up nowhere. Her moms get to stay though. I'm just going to ignore the last post-credit scene, because... that's setting something up I'm not sure of.
Thor: Love & Thunder (2022) - First up, Gorr has a great setup. He needed more screentime though. We need to see more of his god killing. They should rightfully be shitting their pants over this man. Thor leaving to save Sif was a good move, but that joke ruined the tension. She should have died there, proof of the god killer. Jane Foster is perfectly fine, and her arc is a lovely send-off. I would have loved some more stuff about the kids, especially Heimdall's. I don't even remember his name. He should have been shown doing something in Jane's return to Asgard, something that showed off his parentage. The meeting of the gods is a great scene, but there should have been people who spoke up, and then promptly getting thrown out, or even getting killed. Even more of a reason for Thor and crew to convince him. I think everything else is pretty good. Also Valkyrie is perfect in this movie. Bi queen. And her Loki knives are lovely.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) - I actually think this one just needs a couple of little tweaks. I understand why they couldn't have T'Challa show up in the spirit world, and Killmonger was great, but I still think something between the siblings would be good. Fuck, I love the funeral scene. It was a lovely sendoff to both T'Challa, and Chadwick. Namor seems a little rash though. Might just be the comics leaking through on that matter but I do like the Mayan inspirations in the movie!
Antman: Quantumania (2023) - I'm not really sure on this movie. I don't like Janet in this movie. She feels too secretive. She could have told them plenty, even lied that Kang had gone home. He'd gotten out somehow. Kang didn't seem scared enough of the others, but that might just be me thinking of that. Oh, and MODOK sucked. He shouldn't be a joke. But Darren could have done something else, because he is in there.
Guardians of The Galaxy V.3 (2023) - Perfection in every way. I'm not changing anything unless it involves getting everything I'm incorporating in. And the Christmas Special is also great.
The Marvels (2023) - Spoilers! Kamala needed more screentime, she just generally felt disconnected from the plot besides her bangle. And I also wanted a more menacing villain. That's been the problem with them recently. They don't make me think that they could actually beat them. I like everything else though. Flerkins were great as usual. I love these stupid creatures so much. That one scene was beautiful.
Now to the shows! These are going to be so much shorter.
Wandavision (2021) - I think this is good. No notes.
Loki S1 (2021) - Good, besides the Sylvie/Loki romance. They are siblings. I'm not sure if there's anything else that I really had a problem with. It's been a moment. Which is a shame. I love Loki (Also bi confirmation! I love it!)
The Falcon & Winter Soldier (2021) - I also think this is good, besides maybe having some problems with the villain. Bromance all the way.
What If...? (2021) - Also pretty good. Little self-contained story. I like the zombies.
Hawkeye (2021) - I also think this one's pretty well written. Macaroni is constantly referenced in my house. Lucky is also a pretty boy.
Moonknight (2022) - Honestly, god tier. Anyways, no one mentioned the stars literally turning in Egypt. But maybe it was just the people thinking that they were drunk as shit and seeing something.
Ms. Marvel (2022) - Second favorite being Moonknight. I also don't remember anything glaringly wrong.
She-Hulk: Attorney At Law (2022) - Besides the tone of the show being inconsistent as shit, I think this show should have dove into some of the topics it brought up more. It just seemed a little surface level. Maybe a WWDITS style mockumentary would work better.
Secret Invasion (2023) - THIS ENTIRE SHOW SUCKS ASS. THIS WHOLE THING WAS DONE SO BADLY. I am not taking anything from this show
Loki S2 (2023) - Too distracted by another season 2 coming out, so I have yet to finish. I have heard it's good though. I've seen the first episode, and it's going pretty good so far.
Well, you made it to the bottom! Yay!
...This took me an hour to write. I did get the doc set up. And got a bit of an outline set up.

‘AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER’ STAR DALLAS LIU ON BEING ASIAN IN HOLLYWOOD
Actor on the rise, Dallas Liu, is stepping into his first leading role as Prince Zuko in Netflix’s live-action remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender. For those who grew up watching the popular Nickelodeon series—often dubbed by critics as one of the greatest animated television series of all time—the story of Aang and the four nations is both familiar and nostalgic.
Liu, however, has teased fans saying, “[Watching the new show is] going to be quite the experience.” Set for a February 2024 release, the remake is headlined by some of the most popular Asian actors in Hollywood including Daniel Dae Kim, Paul Sun-Hyung, Ken Leung and Elizabeth Yu.
As the story itself borrows elements from indigenous Asian tribes, it’s become culturally important to showcase the people as they are. Yet, when questioned about how Hollywood segments the nuances of the term “Asian”—broad in itself, encompassing countless ethnic groups spread across 48 countries—Liu reveals that being “Asian” isn’t necessarily the most important thing about any one character.
Tumblr media
A cultural movement
“Typically the breakdowns [for an audition] will just be Asian, black, white, Latino, and [actors] will go into that because not always in every project are they going to need to explain the background of a character,” says Liu. “As Asians in Hollywood, we not only want to be able to tell a cultural story, we also want to be a character where [being Asian isn’t] the only thing about them.
“At the end of the day, we are real people living everyday lives. So although, culturally, we might be different, we’re all human beings at the end of the day.”
For Liu, who began his acting career at age 13, honing his craft has culminated at just the right time. “It’s super hot [to be] an Asian-American actor in Hollywood right now,” he laughs. Having previously appeared in Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings alongside Simu Liu and Awkwafina, Liu is at the forefront of a cultural phenomenon progressing towards the inclusion of Asian-influenced projects.
Tumblr media
“I think as far as Hollywood goes, we’re doing a better job [at representation], but there’s always going to be room to improve.”
For him, the challenge becomes less about the scarcity of opportunity and more about experience. Having had a mentor himself at the beginning of his career, Liu ponders about the future of Hollywood and notes that more mentors will likely be available to guide young actors and actresses and lead them in the right direction. “We hold a lot of responsibility knowing that there are only more opportunities to come for all of us,” Liu says.
Succeeding in Hollywood
In a way, Liu is living an interesting paradox in Hollywood. While representation has been touted as one of the most important issues for this generation of artists, it’s also become something that mustn’t tie an actor down. “It’s just a character, at the end of the day,” says Liu. “People want to see what you can do with it regardless of how you look.”
“I’m living my life trying to make it as an actor, not necessarily as an Asian actor who wants to work only on Asian projects. I want to be able to do everything. I don’t want to limit myself to any sort of opportunities.”
What then is the most important factor when it comes to landing a role in Hollywood? “Preparation,” Liu shares. Less about how you look or who you are, preparation encompasses different strategies for different actors. For Liu, it’s as simple as knowing your lines and understanding what’s going on in the scene.
“A lot of auditions have been on self-tape because of Covid, so people are typically filming their auditions on their phones,” Liu says. “It might help to have a good lighting setup. Order a ring light and set it up behind the camera. But honestly, at the end of the day, it comes down to whether or not they like you and that’s usually out of your control, especially in the early stages.”
Coming from Hollywood and creating stories from the histrionic city has made Liu realise that rigidity has become passé for most storylines. He says, “It’s good to have those much broader and more general roles where everyone can come in and get a shot at [an audition].”

Wanna make a list of my favorite villains. Here we go!
Van Kleiss from Generator Rex
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Van Kleiss is creepy, manipulative, selfish, dramatic, menacing and badass and can be soft as a threat. I wish he is really soft deep down but he prefers to rule the world or become a God.
Obake from Big Hero 6 The series
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
He's creepy, cunning, dramatic, patient and really clever, soft deep down so you can see how he actually gave up and decided to save Hiro.
Nai/Millions Knives from Trigun Stampede 2023
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
First two villains I love as cool and interesting characters but on this one I have crush unexpectedly actually. That guy is creepy, cold maniac who wants destroy humanity but loves his brother Vash. He's somewhat can be soft but only for Rem and his brother. I'm utterly believe he's never wanted to kill Rem as he reaching for her hand and asking for go with them.
Dr. Curt Connors from Amazing Spider Man
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Only two actors in this movie doesn't annoying me while watching this. I remember when I'm was late on this movie in cinema and I was like it's okay, somehow I can't tell how I feel about this movie. After some rewatching some of the characters doesn't annoying me. Actor is making a great job and in love with him. He reminds me one of my college professors.
Xu Wenwu from Shang Chi and the legend of the ten rings
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm not into MCU since first two Avengers movies but once I saw this on TV and in love with this movie. Xu Wenwu is powerful, narcissistic and brutal but he's loves his family and wanted his wife back. Better to let go. But he refuses to let go. I can understand him because my mom is in coma two years now and I wanted her back so hard but now fine, okay sometimes I'm not fine when someone talking about her but I'm ready to let go. She's always with me, in my dreams and memories. So this is why I love this character.
Quentin Beck/ Mysterio from Spider Man Far From Home

As I said before I'm giving up on MCU. I'm didn't know about Tom Holland playing Peter Parker and when I'm watching Homecoming I was like he's cute but he's not Peter for me but later on I'm watched Far from Home and I was like that's my baby and I love him and movie is so beautiful and funny. Jake Gyllenhaal as Marvel villain. I'd say it was fun and interesting. This version of Quentin is menacing, sadistic, narcissistic. Such a good liar. And that purple battle suit in the end of the movie, just wow!
Norman Osborn/Green Goblin (Sam Raimi movie & later on Spider Man No Way Home)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm was scared of him as 8 years old kiddo when watching Spider Man movie on VHS and then I'm creeped out of him as young adult in No Way Home movie. Oh, good memories when I was a kid and carefree before life gets harder for me, so unfair.
Darth Vader from Star Wars
I'm classic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Magneto (X-Men Evolution)
What to say. Maybe I don't have thoughts fir a while.
Tumblr media
Honorable mentions
Leto II from Children of Dune, God Emperor of Dune by Frank Herbert
It's really strange case. Becoming worm and telling there's more worse path to take exists. Like a villain, I couldn't be I didn't need it, it needed me
Like a villain by Bad Omens is describing him well. Oh, I need a break from this books. It's amazing but I'll never read/listen to them again, maybe but I need more time. I'm still mind blowned from this novels.

An Open Palm
The simplest and smartest thing to do would be to kill Tony Stark. He was a danger to the Rings and to himself, the world's foremost expert in creating destruction out of nothing. Wenwu was no fool; if you played with fire, you were bound to get burned. But that was only if you didn't know how to master it and he did. He knew how to provide the spark and how to temper the resulting flame, how to keep it from sputtering out or engulfing everything in its path. He knew how to make it his because he knew what Tony Stark wanted and more importantly, needed.
I'm obsessed with Wenwu so when @magicasen asked if I would be up for writing about a meeting between Tony and Wenwu for @marveltrumpshate (I believe it was after we both saw this art), of course I said yes despite not being sure I'd be able to do it. This is set in a canon-divergent IM2 where Tony is hellbent on going after the Ten Rings and Wenwu takes a keen interest in Tony. Exact dates in the MCU can be shaky, but this is also coincidentally around the time that Shang-Chi ran away.
Read on AO3 or Dreamwidth (4,583 words).

What If…? - Season 2 (2023) review
Tumblr media
So, is Jeffrey Wright like the new Morgan Freeman? You can get the man to read a phonebook (do those still exist?!) and it would sound soothing and delightful.
Plot: The second season of the American animated anthology series What If...?, based on the Marvel Comics series of the same name, explores alternate timelines in the multiverse that show what would happen if major moments from the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe occurred differently.
I enjoyed the first season. That being said you could tell from the get-go Marvel did not really know what to do with the premise, as the episodes of the first season were mostly animated summaries of the previous MCU films, with a detail or two changed to justify The Watcher’s presence. Fortunately, it looks like the team behind the show has gotten the hang of it for the second installment, with the new season of the series showcasing a much needed improvement when it comes to multiversal exploration.
This second time around the show seems to take a different approach, by opting for combining the premise of two seemingly unrelated MCU movies to create new stories. Such as an episode that merges together characters and elements of Thor and Thor: Ragnarok with the setting of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Or not even limiting itself to the MCU, in the case of the season premiere, sticking Nebula into Blade Runner. Yep, I know the setting is Xandar, but, like, c’mon - it’s Blade Runner MCU Edition. And this new strategy has allowed What If…? to deliver better episodes this time around.
What I really enjoyed about this season was that it has something that the current MCU live-action stuff really lacks - being fun and different. The movies and Disney+ shows have all become so one-note and limited in trying to take any risks, whilst this show basically allows us to see the MCU through different genres and perspectives. This season you get to enjoy an Iron Man 2-era Die Hard spoof and a Marvel flavoured Death Race/Ben-Hur, both of which were awesome, and then there’s the unique Kahhori episode where Marvel introduces its first indigenous superhero - a Mohawk woman who is empowered by the Tesseract Captain Marvel-style. It’s all fun stuff and it’s nice seeing the MCU not take itself too seriously and allow itself to relax and simply enjoy the madness so to speak.
In terms of negatives - I really do love the show’s animation style, when it’s showcasing people fighting one another. That stuff looks really cool, however it does get a tad horrid for when people are just talking, as it looks weird. Also, the Captain Carter character. What If…? is at its best when it goes random, so it is a little frustrating and repetitive when they keep shoehorning this one multiverse character into everything. Captain Carter appears in 3 episodes this season, and she’s an okay character, but she’s nowhere as interesting and engaging as the show makes her out to be and as such I found her inclusion tiring, no matter how likeable Hayley Atwell’s voice acting is. Even her own standalone episode this season about fighting the Hydra Stomper was just a rehash of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Black Widow but less compelling. As for the rest of the voice cast, a lot of the live-action cast members return to voice their characters, and as such you can tell some of them aren’t as comfortable in the voice acting booth, however this season’s stand-outs were Cate Blanchett, Devery Jacobs, Karen Gillan, Jeff Goldblum and of course Jeffrey Wright - gosh darn it his voice is wonderful!
Overall I believe I enjoyed this season more than the first, as the show seems to be really finding its own groove, so I am looking forward to seeing what kind of craziness they’ve cooked up for the already confirmed upcoming season 3, and hearing more of Mr Wright saying those two special words… “what if?”
Overall score: 7/10

What If...? season 2 episode 6 *SPOILERS*
Asgard destroyed again! This time Ragnarok came early, like before Odin hid the tesseract. Well, it does explain how it ended up in the lake, but poor Asgard can't catch a break.
Kahhori, so far, is a pretty cool character. I was surprised that she was able to get stronger with her powers in a matter of hours. But, I like that she cares for her tribe and her brother that she's willing to leave the paradise that is Sky World to save them. Yeah, she was kinda harsh with her speech to the Sky World villagers, but it was needed for them to come back to help her. She alone wasn't enough to take on an entire fleet of Spanish Conquistadors. Although, I thought her getting hit by a cannon ball on the head would've been fatal. Then again, she did gain powers from Sky World so maybe that helped with that.
Oh yeah, Sky World. So, when the tesseract landed on that lake, the Space stone created a portal to that world. It's pretty cool and quite peaceful. So, I can understand why Atahraks and the others would want to stay, but them helping Kahhori save her people was the better option.
I wasn't sure how accurate this episode is on portraying the Indigenous Americans, but apparently, the people working on this episode worked with members of the Mohawk Nation, and the actors voicing Kahhori and the others are also Mohawk.
The hunt scene was pretty cool. Those were some massive space buffalos....I don't know what to call them but they looked pretty cool.
At first, I thought Kahhori, Atahraks and the others were gonna take the rest of the tribe to Sky World, but instead, they confront the Queen of Spain to make peace by force. Well....the queen was very stubborn and entitled. And, well, there are worse things Kahhori and the others could've used their powers for. I was worried for a minute there that the episode would turn her into a villain. Thank god she didn't cause I like her.
Strange Supreme? In this episode?! I thought he was showing up in the season finale only. Guess not. So he's either gonna recruit her or he has to tell her something. Maybe it's got something to do with the 1602 episode.
So, yeah, I liked this episode. Kahhori's a pretty cool character so far. Another thing to point out is that the whole episode was spoken in Mohawk and in Spanish. The only English spoken was from Strange Supreme in the end. Also, I assume that a certain amount of time has passed for Kahhori to speak Spanish.
Next episode is what if Hela was banished from Asgard like Thor was in the first Thor movie, but ended up in China and met Xu Wenwu and the Ten Rings. Well....not what I was expecting but, okay. Maybe they'll have a pretty good dynamic. Or maybe they're gonna be a couple in that universe and Hela would be Shang-Chi and Xialing's mom instead.

okay but I feel like shang-chi would not have passed the progenitor's judgement. right? he's taken over the five weapons society from his father and he's trying to make it better and he's just not succeeding.
takeshi, his brother, was imprisoned for stealing a cosmic cube. his fault? absolutely. but shang-chi was more loyal to his ideals of justice and making a Good Society than his brother's freedom. again, fine. but he promised takeshi that he wanted to be nothing like his father. and then he put his ideals, noble as they were, above his family just like his father did.
shi hua, his twin sister. his twin he failed to protect. he values his strength so highly and he didn't ever use it to protect her from their father. not even after he knew what was really going on, not even after he returned as the leader of the society. he ran away and he left her.
zhilan, his mutant sister, hunted by their father. shang-chi swore to her, he swore that he was going to change the society, that they would never go back to their father's ways. and now there are ten rings on his arms, the same ten rings that corrupted their father into the man that hurt him and tried to kill her. and she can't help but wonder when that idealism becomes zealotry.
and then there's esme. little esme, who is only thirteen, who has never gotten to be a child. who he treats as if she is as much of a soldier as her siblings. she is. she is not. she is thirteen years old and she's been trained to be a deadly warrior her whole life. she should be able to be so much more. he has a responsibility to this youngest of his sisters. here is his chance to undo everything his father ever stood for, to give this child the chance to do normal child things. to be treated like a thirteen-year-old girl instead of a deadly weapon. and he doesn't. he treats her as just as much of a warrior as the other adults. he sends her off to run the house of the deadly dagger on her own. he expects the same things of her as their father.
and lin lie (don't even get me started on lin lie) who is dead. (at least as far as he knows.) shang-chi was supposed to look after him and he's dead. he trained the kid, he taught him to use his sword and how to fight without it and patience and strategy and he loved lin lie like a little brother. and lin lie died alone in korea, falling from a cliff, saving their teammate. and shang-chi wasn't there. he could have saved them both if he was. he wanted to use his skills to be a hero, right? but instead he was with the society. trying to fix it, sure, to make it into something better, but he still prioritized it over his team. his friends.
and ultimately he's not a good enough son either. he's not a good supreme commander. the society is fracturing, his men are betraying him, his ancestral home is destroyed and he's forced to start over again in new york. he's not reforming his father's society, he's running it into the ground. he's not melting it down and molding it into something new, he's just building sandcastles out of the ashes.
no one would pass shang-chi. not even himself.

🌵 ⇢ share the link to a playlist you love
LMAO not me needing to figure out how to share playlist links for this. I also don't generally make playlists meant for sharing, it's more "here are the 8 songs I want to listen to on a loop right now" the way I used to burn CDs...
And from a writing perspective I tend to listen to soundtracks (Titanic, Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings, How to Train Your Dragon), so from a playlist perspective....lol here is this
For this writers' truth or dare ask game!

Yuletide 2022 Recs, Batch Four
16 recs for A Knight’s Tale, Knives Out, Last Night In Soho, Little Women, Marvel/MCU/Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Malevolent (podcast)
of sorrows two, one perfect joy
Geoffrey Chaucer/William Thatcher - And William. His pen flows, when it comes to William. Allegories and dream visions, poetic license, metaphorical chicanery. All of it to say: I’m falling for you. I may have already fallen. It’s too late for me.
my heart is melting, my hands are weak
Marta Cabrera/Ransom Drysdale - By all accounts, she shouldn’t have been there; they’d known for a week that a horrible stormfront was due to drift through the northeast, and Marta had meant to be off the property before the weather got really bad.
But things had progressed faster than anticipated, the snow and wind around Harlan’s house initially mild enough that they didn’t realize how bad it was getting. By the time it registered – when Joni and Meg arrived laden down with presents, stomping clumps of snow from their shoes and huffing about how bad the roads were – it was too late.
Playing to Win
Marta Cabrera/Ransom Drysdale - Meg doesn't call in time, so Ransom has a lot longer in the diner to convince Marta of his idea and move his stones into place.
healing touch
Marta Cabrera/Ransom Drysdale - Marta visits Ransom in prison.
The Gap Year
Sandie | Alexandra Collins, Eloise "Ellie" Turner - It’s funny how it’s only after death that Sandie learns to live again.
zombie (what's in your head)
Theodore "Laurie" Laurence/Amy March - “I think that deep down inside, you’re a romantic,” Laurie said. “Maybe everyone is. Maybe that’s why so many people are miserable.”
“I think that right now, a lot of people are miserable because there are things out there that are actively trying to kill and eat them,” Amy said. (zombie!apocalypse!AU)
Happy
Theodore "Laurie" Laurence/Amy March - “Anything interesting from the girls?” Aunt March says. They’re in the drawing room of the hotel, and Amy still has the letter from Jo held tightly in her hand. She carefully places it down on the writing desk.
“Oh, not much Aunt March,” Amy says, turning the information over in her mind. Beth is ill…and they’re not sure what to do, and mother has been called. “Beth is sick,” she says.
Awkward
Katy Chen/Xu Xialing, Katy Chen & Shang-Chi - It wasn't that Katy was ashamed of her relationship with Xu Xialing. She was, in fact, rather proud of herself for locking that down. In a world of superhero tens, Xialing was an eleven. Brains, beauty, an entrepreneurial spirit combined with a hard work ethic—Xialing had it all.It was just awkward.
Five Times People Thought Katy and Shang-Chi Were Together and the One Time They Were
Katy Chen/Shang-Chi, Katy Chen & Shang-Chi - It's easy to look at the relationship between Katy and Shang-Chi and get the wrong idea. Sometimes they even do.
The Darkest Evening of the Year
John/Arthur Lester - After everything, Arthur and John share time in the winter.
growing pains
John & Arthur Lester - It took Arthur two weeks to actually propose the idea. He’d expected it to take another two at least to convince John to try it, but John had only hesitated a moment before asking Arthur if he was sure.
In answer, Arthur had retrieved the rope..John has trouble settling into his new body, and Arthur decides to tie him up in an attempt to ground him in it.
merry and bright
John & Arthur Lester - In New York, Arthur and John visit a Christmas festival together.
an oft-repeated dream
John/Arthur Lester - John makes a habit of waking Arthur up from his nightmares.
Eventually, Arthur gets to repay the favour.
Faroe's Waltz
John/Arthur Lester - Arthur dreams of pain and wakes to music: the opening strains of a melody, left incomplete.
Guess This Makes Me the Godfather
John/Arthur Lester/Peter Yang - After sharing dinner, Arthur invites Peter up to have a drink with him and John. But as it turns out, it's that time when John's new body has a hard time being human, and it's not whiskey he's thirsty for.
Got Those Hooks into You
John/Arthur Lester, John & The King in Yellow - Arthur is a toy, a lever for the King in Yellow to pull in his latest bid to get his other half back.
