Winifred Van Duzer's The Good Bad Girl, published in 1926, is typical of the romances of the era. A naive young lady named Mimsi Marsh leaves her small Connecticut town, Tranquility, and comes to New York to become an artist. She rooms with a girl named Trixie True and has a collie called Lucky. In order to pay the bills, she compromises her dream and becomes an artist's model. This is actually the highlight of her big city experience, which involves murder, drug use, and stalking.
