A knock at the door had Kirishima stumbling out of his bedroom in the pre-dawn light. The hulking hero yawned wide, sharp teeth glinting and vision blurry, as he sleepily shuffled towards the entrance. What time was it even?
Opening the door wide, Kirishima barely had time to process the peculiar sight of 2 coffee mugs on the sidewalk before your heels swung down from above the door frame into his field of vision. His ruby eyes widened as he sprang to catch you by your hips as your swinging tackle hug knocked you both to the ground right inside the threshold. The impact forced a big “OOF” from the huge pro hero sprawled on his back beneath you.
“Mornin'! ” You chirped down at Kiri, scaled tail happily whipping to-and-fro behind you. Cracking your fingers, you crossed your legs to sit on his lap as he groggily sat up on his elbow. You reached out with one claw and booped him on the nose, snatching back the appendage before he could give it a retaliatory chomp. “That's Me:1 and You:0, my guy.”
Kirishima's chuckle rumbled in his chest, and you would be lying if you said you didn't enjoy the way it reverberated through your smaller frame. “Not very Noble to attack before the sun's risen” He teased, rubbing the sleep from his eyes, “Doesn't count before coffee, remember?”
You gave an amused snort and threw your head back in the direction of the travel mugs on the pavement. “Oh look- Coffee.” you smiled down at him mischievously, “Besides- when do villains fight fair?”
Kiri rolled his eyes despite not being able to help the sharp grin spreading across his face. Oh ho, two could play that game.
His muscular arms were hoisting you into the air before you even registered him rolling forward off of his elbows and picking you up off of his lap.
One second you were on top of the stunned scarlet haired hero- and the next your back was whamming against the wall next to the door, forcing the air out of your lungs with a sudden whoosh.
You tried to squirm out of his hold, you really did. If it weren't Eijiro “built like a fucking fridge” Kirishima, you probably would have succeeded. His grip under your arms was like stone as he kept your pinned just above him. You noticed in your dazed state, that your shoes dangled almost comically a good couple feet off of the floor. However your attention was quickly grabbed by the shark teeth grazing your collarbone, as he nipped his way up to your ear.
“Looks more like 1:1 to me, Dude” He pulled away from your neck and gave your flushed form a once over and quirked a eyebrow, “Unless you can get out of this hold without destroying my drywall?”
The rough treatment and teasing nearly left you as breathless as the physical exertion. Your tail thumped against the wall as your face flushed with slight embarrassment. Avoiding Kirishima's smug grin you craned your head as much as you could behind you to look outside, before turning back to face him.
“Does-Doesn't count b-before coffee?” you panted out weakly with a broad smile, thumb pointing at the abandoned lattes behind you both.
“1:1, Brat”

(<<< part one)
“I can’t believe you’re doing this again” Jane’s voice rang through the phone as you walked down the streets towards your desired coffee spot.
You also couldn’t believe you were doing that again. You tried your best to live your life with no regrets, but men made it very hard.
“Have you seen him since he fled the crime scene?”
“Stop calling it a crime scene” you snapped.
“Well, have you?”
Your silence was enough of an answer. No, you had not seen or heard from Jungkook since he ran away from your bedroom in the dead of night, leaving behind only the smell of cologne and, funnily enough, a single sock. When you woke up that day to an empty bed, sheets crumbled and a mattress indented on the side where he had slept, all you could muster was a tired sigh of disappointment.
And to be completely honest, you were disappointed with yourself, not Jungkook. You expected nothing less than a quick escape of him. But you should’ve known better than to hope for anything. Despite everything, you were still an idealist at heart and you thought that maybe just this once…
You shook your head obstinately. You had learned early on that no good would come from moping around for men who would never once feel any regret for their thoughtless actions and if your pain were to be always one sided, then it was better not to feel any at all. Not to dwell on it, move on, learn from it and be better. Or be worse, sometimes, as self-improvement was not always your goal.
Sometimes, you chose to listen to the tiny revengeful angel on your shoulder - who kind of sounded like Taylor Swift - that screamed for violence and vindication.
As your failed relationships started to pile up, you did reach a point where you had to wonder if you were the problem, as it was the canonical event of all 20 something women. But observation, therapy, critical thinking and hereditary pettiness brought you to the decision that it was not, in fact, your fault. At least not all of it.
With that in mind, you left only the smallest of time slots in your booked and busy schedule to ponder and grieve over the fickle nature of boys’ interests. You had better, more important things to do, such as mindlessly scroll through Minecraft/AITA videos and save pilates routines that you were never gonna do.
Still, in an experience intrinsically feminine, you allowed yourself a little treat to cope with the slight burn of despondency in the back of your mind.
And so you directed yourself to the bougie coffee house near campus, hoping to drown your sorrows with an aggressively sweet and overly caffeinated drink.
“You should slash his tires”
“Jane, please, we have talked about this.”
“You should totally slash his fucking tires!"
"Saying it louder is not gonna make me agree with you! Jane…"
Suddenly your eyes found Jungkook's across the room filled to the brim with depressed, financially irresponsible students, making you pause and hold back the urge to curl your lips in distaste. It bothered you that even with scared eyes as big as saucers and hunched shoulders to appear smaller, Jungkook still managed to look good.
But you knew better than to let him know how much his presence and pretty face annoyed you. Boys like Jungkook only cared about having an impact on people’s life, very rarely caring if it was good or bad. He wanted a reaction out of you and you learned better than to give those away so carelessly.
So you frowned and looked away, the words practiced on your lips as you said “Some guy is staring at me.”
Jane laughed loudly on the phone “You’re a psycho, you know that?”
“I don’t know who it is, Jane, some dude” you stole a quick glance at him, finding vengeful glee at his shocked expression.
“Send me a pic of his reaction, I’m posting it on TikTok.”
You continued playing your part, ignoring your sister’s interruptions as you usually did “Of course I’m carrying a taser, Jane, I’m not an animal…”
“I’ll give you 5 bucks to tase him.”
“You know what, this coffee is not even worth the visual harassment, God I hate men…”
You walked out of the coffee house, hand empty but with a fulfilled sick sense of accomplishment as you stepped out into the street with a shit-eating grin.
“I hope you know what you’re doing” Jane said and you could hear the smile in her voice. Out of your two sisters, Jane was never the one to tell you to not do something, preferring to let you make your own mistakes.
And boy, did you.
You left your big, beautiful, tattooed mistake behind you, ready to move on to something less prone to disappointment, such as fictional men and your Stardew Valley husband “Dont worry” you told your sister “I don’t.”.
“What are you doing?” Jungkook asked, left eye twitching slightly at your unbothered expression.
After your confusing exit from the coffee shop and a good amount of jabs from his friends, Jungkook had to hunt you down across campus, finding you sitting under a tree with a book in your hands, looking way too peaceful for someone who just had humiliated him.
You looked down at your book with an arched eyebrow “Kegels, clearly. Why?”
“No, I mean…” Jungkook’s frustration was rising by the second, the vein on his neck jumping out “Why are you acting like you don’t know me?”
You frowned.
“Do I know you?” you asked, face doubtful.
“We have classes together?”
You blinked, impassive.
“We went on a date?”
A head shake.
“We slept together!”
“Nope, can’t say it rings any bells.”
That’s it. Jungkook was actually convinced you were clinically insane.
“How can you not remember?”
“How can I remember something that never happened?”
“But it did! You’re crazy! I chased you for weeks!”
You smiled, a trap.
“So, you're, like, in love with me?” you ask, tone condescending.
Jungkook scoffed and you weren’t sure if it was at the idea of love or loving you. “No, of course not.”
“So in this dream scenario of yours, we had sex but we weren’t together?”
“Trust me, this” he gestured between the two of you “is no dream scenario.”
“Well, aren’t you a charmer” you crossed your arms in front you, defensive “Let me get this straight. You, allegedly, chased me for weeks, but don’t really like me. Then, we had casual, out-of-relationship sex and then what? You banged my head against the headboard so hard I completely forgot about it? Your story is full of holes, my dude.”
You had to fight back the urge to smirk, energy spiking from feeding off of Jungkook’s stupefied confusion.
Nail in the coffin, you shrugged, turning your eyes back to your book “Maybe you weren’t that memorable and my mind deleted you like a childhood trauma.”
A slight left eye spasm was all the reaction you got at first, evolving to the pursing of pouty lips and the clenching of fists.
“You are insane” he said at last after seconds of turning clogs in his barely filled mind.
“Finally you said something true.”
Jungkook was equally bewildered and furious. He didn’t know what your deal was or what you were getting out of this, but your refusal to admit you had sex pissed him off deeply considering how much time and effort he put into getting you together.
“Also, I have to ask” you continued, clearly not done with your pursuit of driving him up the wall “what was your goal with this conversation? Chasing me for weeks to then sleep with me and then come here and tell me you’re not actually interested in me, but being upset when I don’t remember something that didn’t happen… What’s the point?”
Jungkook paused. Truly, he didn’t have much of an end goal in mind, actions fueled only by a bruised ego and a childish, borderline pathological need to prove himself.
When he didn’t answer, you stood up and gathered your things, keeping your head down to hide your poorly concealed satisfaction “I’ll let you ponder on that” you said “Don’t worry about reaching out with an answer, though.”
Finally, you looked up at him, face masked with faux awkwardness. “Anyway. Nice to meet you, I guess? No, actually, not really, this was weird as shit. You seem to have some things to figure out. Get help and take care, my dude.”
And so you left, leaving behind only a cloud of your bergamot perfume and a perplexed Jungkook blinking owlishly.
There was a sudden influx of thoughts rushing through his usually much less busy mind, the general tone of confusion ringing amongst humiliation and frustration.
When Jungkook first set his greedy eyes on you, he had an inkling that you’d be a handful and in the beginning, you truly were. You took pleasure in making everything much more difficult for him, running from his presence like the plague and approaching the whole subject of him like one would the subject of warts - reluctantly and with caution.
And if he were honest, he wasn’t too sure on why he insisted, but one would be surprised at how far Jungkook would escalate things out of spite and resentment.
It was that same sick combination of flavors that drove him insane for weeks, moving him to pester you until you gave him a chance. And he took it, lord, did he take it.
That night, he made every possible effort to please you, cloaked in his best, non-ranch stained clothes and best non-arrogant behavior.
And when morning came and he opened up his eyes before you did, tired out from the epitome of his bestest behavior, there was a moment of quiet as he watched you eyelids flutter delicately, soft arm draped lightly over his waist.
The night before had been… Fun, he thought, even before you had reached your bedroom. You were weird and used a bunch of words he didn’t know, but you also made him laugh and listened to him babbling about his interest without once looking bored, even going as far as asking questions about his farfetched MCU theories.
And despite your many (too many to count, insurmountable really) differences, you had… Chemistry, one could call it. Thick chemistry, palpable tension, pushing you towards each other despite your previous attempts to go the other way.
But no amount of chemistry could break Jungkook’s routine as inertia pushed him out of your bed, practiced steps light as feathers as he escaped your apartment with one last look to your sleeping form and somehow one less sock on his feet.
And as he left, there was an undiagnosed pounding in his heart he tried to chalk off as the result of his Dorito and monster drink based diet, but his eyes kept flashing back to where you rested even when he was miles away.
He tried to make sense of your persistent presence in the back of his mind. You were cool, he’d give you that. Hot too. But it didn’t matter how your body fit his like they were manufactured together or how your passive aggressive way of flirting (or insulting, he had a hard time telling them apart with you) never failed to steal a snort from his lips. And yeah, it was kind of nice when you called him cute everytime he didn’t understand something you said. It brought a blush to his cheeks and wild butterflies to his stomach, because… Well, no one had ever called him cute after middle school. Hot? Yes. Sexy? Once a week. Biggest dick ever? Yes, both meanings.
But not cute. And deep down, under layers of aggressively oversized shirts and muscles… Jungkook kind of liked being cute.
Jungkook shook that thought away. Despite all that, you were a point he had to make.
And he did! Point proven and undisputed, up until you looked at him like he was a silly little kid throwing a tantrum (which he kind of was) and questioned him and his sanity,
But Jungkook was obstinate and, even more, the sorest of losers. He had proven himself once and would again! He was a man on a mission, he decided, watching you walk away from him while mouthing the words “I’ll pray for you!”. And the mission was to either send you into a psychiatric hospital or get you back into his bed.
And if the butterflies in his stomach fluttered excitedly at that second prospect, he didn’t allow himself to ponder on it for a single second.

Elevator Sex ~
Yandere! Landlord! Geto Suguru x F!Reader
Tumblr media
summary Landlord Geto fucks you in the elevator. You will learn your place. 1.1k warning mature, smut, cheating?, voyeurism, non-con.
..............................
Geto Suguru spent many nights in the room over from yours. It was the closest seat in the complex to your strip tease. He hated that you started to refuse him small talk, to your gracious landlord, who built his schedule around your comings and goings. You should be cordial, to say the least. Each morning, he would remind you to double-check your person. You tended to be forgetful. Stupid poor thing, you were. When you first arrived, you were prone to call up at noon to have him search for your room key. Geto didn't mind. He felt less perverted in those times you begged him to check on things. He'd chalked it up to you flirting, especially when your used underwear found home in his pocket. And, every time you said it would be the last, yet, you would do it again. You had a knack for leaving important things behind just like you were doing him. For weeks, he would wave in the foyer after you got back from work, ushering you to converse with him.
However, every single time, you would squirm into the comfort of your apartment. He'd even had to drill a hole through your wall to make up for you ignoring him. He assumed you felt guilt.
It was your fault that he had to refuse another tenant from moving next door. It was your fault he took the listing offline. He was losing money. But, watching your tits hang while you changed from your work clothes gave him much fapping material. The walls being thin allowed your voice to fall into his lap. When he caught you gurgling on that man's cock, he imagined your hollow cheeks milking him.
You would look so pretty, sopping on the floor, your silk ruining the carpets which he'll lick up after he wears you to sleep. And, he'd felt more than knew, that he would be enamored by your worship of his cock that he'll press you into a mating lock.
He wanted to see you bound to him through the most intimate action of man. Your precious pussy needed to pulse around his shaft.
You needed to learn your place.
Mediocre sex with your boyfriend pained him when he thought too much of it. He would rather watch your toys vibrate your blushing lips despite your stifling moans. That boyfriend of yours was arrogant. He left you without building your orgasm to its head. It felt pathetic.
Your landlord decided it was time to get involved.
>>>
"I'll see you later tonight," Your boyfriend cooed. He dipped his head to catch your lips in a soft kiss. You sighed and rolled your eyes before softly reciprocating. He stroked his thumb over your cheek.
You lifted your coffee to your lips, needing the caffeine to silence your budding words. Your boyfriend brought you out on your day off to get breakfast. While seated in the French-styled cafe, Naofumi explained his new promotion. You were excited for him. This new change meant an upgrade from his shitty apartment to a new one. However, it didn't mean you were in his plans. You've dated since high school. Took the entrance exams side by side, graduated college together, and now, you're here.
The changes don't seem noticeable until you read between the lines. He used to include 'we' in sentences, now it's 'I' this, 'me' that.
Now, as Naofumi gave one final squeeze to your hand, the only thing you could think of was your landlord, who was staring bullets at you through the glass doors. You were somewhat aware of his crush.
Like a puppy, he waited in the foyer for your return.
"Welcome back," Geto Suguru lifted his chin. He stood in your path to the elevators, strong biceps pushed his plush tits to your attention.
You felt intimidated to give him more than a passing bow. You looked down at your shoes. The pressure of his gaze made you wonder what it would be like to take a chance with him. But, you did love Naofumi.
You tried to sidestep Geto. You failed to meet his gaze and you kept your head down. You clutched your purse to your chest.
"Take me to your unit." Geto commanded to your discomfort. Other tenants who were leaving the complex regarded his hulking frame. And they'd probably wondered what had you in his bad graces.
"Excuse me?" You stuttered, taking a step back.
Geto slipped behind your frame, he gently shoved you forward. His natural musk caused your nose to wrinkle. The blood rushed down to his shaft, his cock sprang into action in his sweats. "A few of the units been experiencing plumbing problems. There, I need to check yours."
Bullshit!
You lived on the tenth floor and you were prepared for the awkward ride up. Geto hit your floor button. The elevator began its climb from the first level to the third but between the fourth and fifth floor, Geto punched the control panel and the elevator came to a stop.
You laughed through your teeth, "Geto-san? What are you doing?"
"If you want to continue living here. There are some rules you need to follow~" Geto leaned his back against the door. He blocked your only means of escape.
"One, break up with your boyfriend. He's not allowed to step a foot in here or I might rip him apart. Hearing him fuck you… I can't anymore." You felt the onslaught of an up-and-coming panic attack. Did he listen to your sex life? Your legs squeezed tight together. "Second, you will quit your job. It's too deep into the city for me to ensure your safety.
"Geto-san…" You whined through a fit. You threw your cup filled with lukewarm coffee as if it could replicate an impenetrable fort. You felt like a child as you stomped and pleaded for the man to let you go.
You wished at this moment that you had something. Pepper spray or a switchblade. Anything that could get you elsewhere. Geto solemnly moved, he allowed your tantrum to fizzle out. He then stepped over the mess. "Last rule. From now until you die, we're partners. So start calling me by my name. Su-gu-ru."
>>>
Your head lulled to the side, you felt weighted down by the copious amounts of coffee and cum that your hair soaked up like a mop.
Hair clung to your body. You couldn't tell which of it were yours or his. Time didn't exist but you counted the number of times you tensed up around his thick cock. "Su-uh," The moans were knocked from within your chest, it bubbled at each hit to your cervix. Geto's hips shuttered against your weeping pussy. "I- I'll do it! Please stop."
You tried screaming earlier and it got your panties shoved into your mouth. You were at your breaking point. You would do anything to get him off of you. "I'll be your dirty little slut! Su, please finish!"
Your chest heaved forward when Geto pushed his palm down onto the base of your belly. He edged himself against your inner walls. The ends of his charcoal hair teased your clit, along with his thumb which thrummed heavenly on your nerve, and it ghosted along your thighs to the rhythm of his pumps. "I'll follow your rules. I won't talk to Nao anymore," You rambled back his earlier demands. You promised him through another fit of throwing arms and legs that you'll be perfect.
His perfect cockwarmer.
"He, eh, said that he would come later tonight." You whimpered out from between your lips that you bit carelessly. "Suguru, you can be there when I- break things off. Then I can call my boss and put in my 2-week notice. You'll have all of me!" You huffed. Geto embraced your cunt lapping at the tip of his cock. Even if he tried to pull out now, your pretty little pussy sucked him in deep.

[Caffeinate Me]
Tumblr media
Come visit me again soon sweetheart.
The words from the page ran through your head as you attempted to get to sleep that night. The key-word being ‘attempted’ since you were unable to as a result of all of your tossing and turning. Your mind was racing after your time with Tom and you were unable to think straight. All you could think about was his curly brown hair, seductive smile and piercing brown eyes. “You seriously can’t be falling for him Y/N,” you mumbled to yourself as you sat up in bed. Your eyes scanned the girls dorm for any movements, and, when you had concluded that everyone was asleep, you got up and retrieved the diary from under your pillow. You sleepily made your way down the stairs to the abandoned common room and flipped the diary open to the middle page. Within seconds, writing appeared.
Back so soon?
You wanted to scoff and roll your eyes, but you couldn’t help the slight smile and blush that graced your face.
Miss me?
The diary asked.
I missed your company.
You replied simply. You waited a few seconds for the response to appear in front of you.
You keep telling yourself that.
This time you did roll your eyes. Your fingers twirled the quill around themselves as you pondered on your answer, but before you could write anything else, more words appeared on the page.
Are you okay?
Your eyes widened slightly at the question. The question lit a fire inside you for some reason and you stumbled to find an answer in your brain. You weren’t sure if you were okay, after all you had become all consumed with a diary that held memories of a former student at Hogwarts. Someone you would probably never even meet outside of the diary. The feelings that had been stirring within you over the past two days were… wrong to say the least and now you found yourself feeling an attraction towards the memory of Tom Riddle.
Y/N… Are you okay?
I’m fine.
You replied quickly. You continued to twirl the quill against your fingers as you waited for an answer.
You don’t seem fine.
Came the response. You sighed. Was there any point in lying to a diary?
I suppose I’m struggling right now.
You wrote back honestly.
Why, my love?
Your breath hitched in your throat at the pet name but you quickly regained your composure and wrote down your response.
All I’ve been able to think about for the past two days is this diary and speaking to you, Tom. I’ve not been able to focus on my school work and I know it’s going to get ten times worse since we…
Since we what, pet?
Since we kissed.
You placed the quill on the table and waited.
Did you enjoy it that much?
You rolled your eyes.
We could do it again, you know. There’s nothing stopping us.
You’re just a memory, Tom. You’re not real. This is dangerous.
You couldn’t help but sigh with frustration. You knew he wasn’t going to take that for an answer. Before you knew it, you were sucked into the diary once again.
You looked around the room, waiting for the man to expose himself. Surely, he was watching you from the shadows like last time. “Come out, Tom,” you said, your voice shaky.
“Oh I’m right here my love,” a voice came from behind you. You turned around coming face-to-face with the man you hadn’t stopped thinking about for the past two days.
“You scared me,” you whispered, placing a hand over your chest.
“Sorry,” he grinned. Without warning, he cupped your cheeks in his hands and brought your face close to his, his eyes glimmering with emotion. “What’s wrong, pet?” He asked. You opened your mouth to speak, but no words came out. Instead you just stared at him, watching as his eyes flickered from yours to your lips. He leaned in close to your ear, his breath skimming your cheek sending a flutter through your stomach. “Don’t be afraid, I feel it too.”
“You can’t feel anything,” you said, almost matter of factly. You didn’t know if he could feel or not, you had just assumed.
Tom shook his head and chuckled. “On the contrary my dear, I feel quite a lot of emotions. And I feel strong emotions for you,” he whispered in your ear. You took a step back, feeling the conflict within your heart. None of this was real. A part of you still thought it was some kind of cruel prank from your friends. Your head was spinning with so many thoughts that you didn’t notice Tom pull away from your ear. His eyes gazed longingly into yours, as if trying to read what you were feeling through your glassy orbs.
“This is so dangerous,” you whispered, more so to yourself than to him.
“Why?” Came his response. He tilted his head in confusion, his hands still cupping your cheeks. You felt your face heat up. “Just give in to the feelings, Y/N. Let yourself feel them for me and I can give you everything you’ve ever wanted. Everything you’ve ever desired.”
Your eyes widen at his silent promises. Once again, you open your mouth to speak. “You’re just a memory,” you repeat, closing your eyes.
His fingers caress your cheeks as he leans closer into your body. “What if I told you, I’m more than just a memory? And that I can make your wildest dreams come true?”
Your breath catches in your throat at his words. More than just a memory? “I’d say you were crazy,” you whisper.
At that moment, Tom doesn’t hesitate. He presses his lips to yours firmly causing you to squeak upon the connection, however, you don’t pull away. Tom’s tongue traces your bottom lip, almost as if he was begging to be let into your mouth. Without thinking, you obliged, opening your mouth and allowing his tongue to wrap around yours with ease. He lets out a grunt as he wraps his arms around your waist, pulling you as close to him as possible. Retracting his tongue from your mouth, but without pulling away from your lips, Tom whispers. “I’m so much more than a memory. I, my love, am Lord Voldemort.”
You pull away from him, your eyes wide as you back away. “No…” You whisper, a hint of desperation in your voice. “That’s not true… Tom… Tell me it’s not true.”
He stalks towards you, a slight smile on his face. “You know I can’t do that Y/N,” he whispers, arms wrapping around your waist again. His eyes flicker between yours, drinking in the sight of the fear they held. “Don’t be afraid of me Y/N. I would give you the world if you wanted it.”
You let out a shaky sigh, your hands trembling as you place them on his chest to push him away from you. “Send me back home,” you whisper.
“Not yet,” Tom replied, shaking his head. He kissed you again, this time more passionately than before. Your eyes flutter closed at the feeling of his lips on yours. You want to push him away, but you can’t. You’re completely entranced. As if some sort of spell had been placed on you. You let out a soft whimper into the kiss, sighing contently as Tom’s hands trace your hips. “Let me give you the world Y/N,” he whispers against your lips.
Without thinking, you nod. You know this is so wrong. Kissing Tom, the Dark Lord, and yet you can’t help it. Your lips move against his desperately, your hands crumpling the shirt at his chest as you hold on to him for dear life. It’s like he’s sucking the life out of you. You whisper his name against his lips to get his attention, but this only spurs him on more. His hands grasp your hips harder. Your chest against his chest. You can feel your heart beating rapidly against your ribcage and you’re sure he can feel it too by the way he smirks into the kiss.
When he pulls away, you’re short of breath. You feel as if the wind has been knocked out of you as you breathe rapidly. A string of saliva still connects your lips together but you’re quick to wipe it away. A chuckle emerges from Tom’s throat. “You look absolutely exquisite,” he mumbles, hands still on your hips. “Almost good enough to eat.” Tom looks you up and down before frowning at you.
“What is it?” You ask nervously, shuffling your feet on the ground.
“You need to go now,” he replies, squeezing your hips before stepping backwards and letting go of you. “But I don’t want you to leave. If I could have it my way, you’d stay here with me… Forever.”
“I can’t,” you say softly. Tom looks upset by this and you want to hold out your hand to him comfortingly, but you decide against it. Without thinking about your next words, you speak up. “I’ll come back to you. I promise.”
“I know you will,” he coos. “You need me… And I need you.” You hum, unconvinced by his words. He kisses you once more, lingering for a few seconds before he pulls away. “Come back to me. Promise me.”
You hesitate but answer, “I promise.”
“Good girl,” Tom whispers.
Before you know it, you’re being thrown back into your common room. You look around the room and sigh, the diary is still open before you. Tonight was a lot to take in, you almost can’t believe it. Tom Riddle is… Lord Voldemort? Your heartbeat quickens at the thought. You know you shouldn’t go back to him, but your heart clenched at the thought of never seeing him again, of never talking to him again. You let out a groan of frustration as you closed the diary, your heart was conflicted. You touched your lips gently, remembering how firm and yet soft and wet Tom’s were against your own. You made your way back up the bedrooms and climbed into bed, hoping that now you would be able to fall asleep easily after seeing Tom. However, you were dead wrong. You continued to toss and turn, your mind racing with countless thoughts that were both fleeting and stationary. You were falling for a murderer and you couldn’t stop yourself. You eventually fall into a dreamless sleep.
When your alarm went off in the morning, you groaned. Sitting up, you rubbed the sleep from your eyes and looked to see the diary open on your bedside table. You tilted your head to the side as you saw four words scrawled on the page:
I’m coming for you.

An anon who was rereading Anyone asked me what would have happened if Izuku didn't like eggs and how you tell a supervillain you don't like what he made and that you want something. I have bravely tried to answer said ask but Tumblr laughed at my pain, so here is it, on a new post.
------------------------
When confronted with the super villain Izuku had accidentally broken out of the most secured prison in the country, a man who had basically walked out of said prison as soon as he hadn’t been restrained anymore, Izuku did the only thing any rational person would do.
He ran like hell. No shoes, no plan, nothing except Full Cowl roaring in his veins and he fled.
At least, he tried to.
Strong tendrils stopped him dead, then hands picked him up by his shoulders and suddenly, his feet weren't touching the ground and he was forcibly brought to the kitchen table.
''No, no, no,'' All for One said with the tone one would employ with a disobedient pet or a very young child. ''Your breakfast is going to get cold and we have so much to talk about. Sit. Enjoy the eggs. If you don't like them, I can make something else.''
And he dropped him on his chair, before putting the plate in front of him. Then, he sat at the other end of the table, facing Izuku, his own plate in front of him and he started to eat. Slowly, his manners perfect, while Izuku was dying of sheer stress over there.
Then, he looked at Izuku. Then at Izuku's plate.
''You're not eating?''
Izuku looked at the man who had literally reduced people to paste last night and then at his plate of eggs and bacon, then back at the lunatic who was probably going to skin him alive soon enough. He needed to do something, to get the time to find a way out of this mess.
Now, any reasonable human being would have eaten a bit of eggs and bacon – well, eaten the bacon in Izuku’s case – but he had just woken up, was in a pre-caffeinated state and truly, Izuku had never claimed to have the slightest working relationship with sanity.
“I don’t like eggs,” he blurted out.
The supervillain, the very same man who had literally gone through a prison riot of fellow villains like he was running through wet paper, was startled so badly by those four words that he dropped his fork.
“What do you mean, you don’t like eggs???” he asked like this was a ludicrous notion, like everyone’s favorite breakfast should be eggs and bacon.
“Never liked them,” Izuku lied, by pure spirit of contradiction, far more developed than for most people, for it had been left with quite the amount of room after the disappearance of all his survival instinct.
And it was indeed a lie because, once upon a time, it had been his favorite comfort food, but when he had been a kid, during one of those weeks where his mom was gone and the neighbor supposed to watch over him was busy forgetting his existence, he had gorged himself on it at every meal until he had gotten so sick of it that he had been unable to eat them ever again.
All for One watched him with something that went beyond annoyance, it was the patented look of someone who knew one was messing with him and the words “You’re a goddamn liar” were probably fighting to be left out but he had no proof that Izuku was bullshitting him and if even if he somehow had a lie-detecting-quirk, Izuku would keep denying it because he probably wasn’t making it out alive anyway so why deprive himself of the chance of annoying his would-be-killer?
And actually, why wait?
“I prefer waffles,” Izuku informed him because, after all, All for One had offered him to make him something else.
All for One stared at him without saying anything, probably thinking about all the ways he could have killed Izuku back when they were in Tartarus. Meanwhile, Izuku gave the illusion to be staring back at him when he was actually thinking about the fact the window made a faster exit but All for One would have the time to catch him before he landed seven floors lower while the door offered him more options.
All for One eventually abandoned his plate and started to rummage through the cupboards, going straight to the place where Izuku and his mom usually put the baking ingredients. Either everyone organized their kitchen the same way, or All for One had broken in so many homes that he was just a pro at using any kitchen he found himself into.
“Do you have flour?” the lunatic called out. “I can’t find it.”
Izuku had already flowed out of his chair and was making his way to the door by walking backwards, trying to radiate nonchalance and not the need to RUN AWAY WITHOUT LOOKING BACK.
“Try the highest shelves,” Izuku helpfully suggested, his hand on the doorknob.
It was where his mom put the heaviest pots and pans they usually didn’t use, since everyone in this household needed to climb a chair to access it. With a little luck, they would all fall on All for One.
Izuku left the apartment, not even bothering to fully close the door behind him, and he ran. He was in his pajamas, had found his sneakers by the door and they were still in his hands as he booked it out of his neighborhood as fast as Full Cowl could carry him and he didn’t stop until his building wasn’t in sight anymore. Then, he stopped on a bench, the couple flirting on it deciding they could do that somewhere else when they saw him approaching, and he put his sneakers on, took a deep breath, and decided to run some more, still in the opposite direction of where Todoroki was living, and then, he would figure out a plan.
Unfortunately, liquid shadows chose this moment to appear right in front of him, revealing All for One, who was holding a bag from Waffle Palace in one of his hands.
“I didn’t find any flour or sugar so I just ordered in.”
Some people would have screamed or been startled but Izuku had already ripped the bench from the ground and thrown it at All for One. The villain batted it away with his empty hand but it didn’t matter because Izuku was already half way through the park, or at least until black tendrils grabbed him and yanked him back.
“Your waffles are going to get cold,” All for One sternly informed him before grabbing him by the back of his shirt and he warped again, this time with Izuku under his arm.

True to his word, Prince Taehyung shows up at your door about an hour after you and Namjoon clean up dinner.
After your self-pity-nap, you’d showered and come out fresh. You’d ordered hot tea and buckled down to work, starting to make your way through the thick texts you’d brought from the university, looking for counters that might be relevant to this case.
So, luckily, instead of a puffy-eyed, half-asleep wreck, the prince finds you clean, and caffeinated, and hard at work. Your image remains intact. Hooray for small victories, you think.
“I know your day hasn’t been ideal,” he says sheepishly, hands clasped behind his back. “Do you think a visit to Potato might make you feel better?”
Cute, you think.
“Potato?” Namjoon asks, baffled.
“His amarisca,” you explain. “I sort of fell in love yesterday.”
Your face heats as soon as you’ve said the words; you hope they both know that you mean with Potato, that it’s not a reference to your illogical, absurd, and frankly embarrassing crush on the beautiful, otherworldly prince. Luckily, it seems both men are oblivious to your near misstep.
“You’re welcome to come, too,” the prince offers, turning to Namjoon. “I was just going to walk to my private stables and give her - Potato - some treats. I thought…” he trails off, eyes on your face, like he’s gauging your reaction. “I thought maybe Y/N might benefit from the walk and the fresh air. But of course you’re welcome, too.”
Namjoon’s face goes funny, like he’s doing those puzzle pieces again. “Thank you,” he says slowly, looking at you, not the prince. “But I’ll stay here. I can finish up writing what we were discussing. I agree, the walk will do you good.”
You want to snap at both of them, you don’t know what’s good for me, but you know they don’t deserve it. And you do want to see the amarisca again.
“Let me get shoes,” you murmur, and head for your room. You return with sneakers in hand and in a thicker sweatshirt; the sun has been down for some time and you know the sea air will be chilly.
Prince Taehyung leads you the same way he had the previous night, both in cloaks that you hadn’t noticed him holding until he handed one to you. You clock that Sateul trails you at a respectable distance - close enough to see you, too far to hear you, if she was human. Probably, since she’s not, she can hear every word.
“This feels like a pity walk,” you admit a bit sourly.
Prince Taehyung gives you an indulgent smile. “I feel like you got hit twice today,” he says. “First, my mother frightens you, and then… it can’t have been easy to find out… what you did. That, combined with your little accident the other night… I honestly can’t believe you haven’t packed up to leave already.”
“I thought about it,” you say dryly. But the truth is, you want to work on the curse. You want to see more of the palace, of Infracticus. You want to spend more time with the prince.
“I’m glad you didn’t,” he says quietly.
You wonder if it’s only because he needs you to break his curse. A foolish thought, one that has no place amidst everything else swirling around your head. But still, the thought persists.
Outside, the fresh air soothes you immediately, the temperature is just right, and you can hear the waves and the gulls in the distance. You do feel better, just walking silently side by side. The tension melts from your shoulders, tiny bits at a time.
“This is nice.”
“I’m not such terrible company after all?” he teases, a mischievous smile growing sideways across his face.
You scowl at him playfully. “It wasn’t about you. Today… really sucked. Sorry. But, I think I wanted to just retreat to my space and sulk for a while.”
He takes this in silently for a few strides and then offers, quietly, “I’m sorry again about my mother. I know my promises can’t mean much to you at this point, but her intentions weren’t to hurt you. She felt your magical signature - we all can - and was just curious. She wanted to know how strong it was. She’s… used to just taking what she wants, as I’m sure you can imagine. It didn’t occur to her that it might be frightening or unpleasant to you. I know that’s no excuse, but I hope you’ll forgive us.”
You listen seriously. You’ll forgive him, you think, if only because he is so damn earnest, and his skin looks pretty in the moonlight.
“Thank you,” you murmur, which isn’t an answer, but he lets it slide. Your magical signature. You hadn’t even known you’d had that. You still don’t know what exactly it means.
You walk together a little further, your footsteps joining the shrill gull calls.
Eventually, Taehyung’s stride slows, and he leans his elbows against the stone balustrade, looking wistfully up at the deep purple sky. The periwinkles and violets of the early afternoon have faded to a deep mottled purple, the color of a third-day bruise. You can see that you’re very close to the staircase he’d helped you down the previous night, the ones that lead down to the sand.
The stars literally take your breath away. Taehyung turns to you, grinning.
“Better than above, right?” he asks, pride evident in his tone.
“There are so many,” you whisper, eyes scanning the sky above you. It seems like every time you look away from a spot and then back to it, the number of stars doubles.
You stand side by side in silence, both leaning on the stone wall, eyes on the stars far above you. Finally, Prince Taehyung turns to look at you, frowning just slightly.
“May I ask you something?” he ventures. “I don’t want to upset you… but I’m curious.”
You smile a little wryly at the irony of this admission. You see the pattern from the Queen earlier to the prince now - admitting he may upset you, but entitled to the answer anyway. At least he has the decency to ask first.
“Go ahead,” you tell him. You’re feeling less on edge out here under the stars, with the cool breeze and ocean’s song. Whatever it is, you’ll face it.
“You really didn’t know?” There’s clear disbelief in his voice. Then, he clarifies, “About your magic.”
You shake your head, a stone skipping and sinking heavy in your stomach. “Had no idea,” you say with a sigh. “I really thought… I really thought I earned being good at breaking curses. I thought it was hard work, grit, that kind of thing.”
Understanding dawns on the prince’s face. “Ah,” he says, and then says nothing else.
You narrow your eyes at him. “Ah, what?”
He gives you a guilty smile. “I didn’t understand why you were upset. I imagined any human would be excited to learn that they were… more, that they had more.”
You eye him stonily. “Being human,” you say evenly, “is enough. It isn’t less.”
His eyes widen comically. “No,” he says quickly, waving his hands between you. “I didn’t mean that. It came out wrong. I just meant -”
“I know what you meant,” you mutter. “No, I wasn’t excited to learn that I’m… I don’t even know what to call myself now.”
He presses his lips together and regards you silently. Then, he says tentatively, “Your accomplishments are not erased by this, you know.”
You look sideways at him, listening.
“Having a natural magical ability doesn’t mean you didn’t work hard. Your magic is inherent in you the same way your strong will is, your natural intelligence. They are facets of what makes up who you are. How you wield these things - that’s how you earn your accomplishments. You should not discount it.”
“I guess,” you mutter, but secretly, you consider this. “It’s just going to take some getting used to, I think.”
The prince seems to sense that there’s nothing more to gain from pursuing this topic. He starts towards the steps, helping you down as he had the night before.
At the stable, he places a carrot in your outstretched hand, smiles wide when you let Potato eat it from your flat fingers, her lips tickling your palm. When you press your other hand gently to her snout, her fur soft and warm under your hand, it doesn’t feel like losing a dream, as you’d feared. It feels like stepping into it. Prince Taehyung watches you, eyes twinkling the whole time.
After, you stand at the fence that creates a paddock in the sea, meant to let Potato swim but not too far. The waves crash just feet from you, and you worry absently about your shoes.
Prince Taehyung leans his elbows on the fence next to you. “How was it going, before I interrupted? I could see that you were working.”
You shrug. “I feel like we’re near the end of what we can do with the information we have. Unless you let me observe you while the curse is working -”
He glowers. “I gave you my answer about that already,” he says tightly.
“- or unless I run some rituals with you… there’s not more to find. We’ve got all we can from the texts we brought, too.”
This makes him look at you, something sharp in his gaze. “Do you need to research more?” he asks, tone lightening, like he’s excited to help. “We have a dozen libraries in the palace - I never spend much time there, but I’m sure you’d find something helpful.”
This makes you smile a little. “I can’t imagine being alive for hundreds of years and not using it to read everything I could get my hands on.”
He laughs at this, nose wrinkling as he says defensively, “I have other interests!” As his chuckles die away again he adds, “Reading puts me to sleep. I never get past the first page.”
“What do you do instead?” you ask, genuinely curious.
His grin turns a bit self-deprecating. “Eat, drink, and make merry,” he jokes.
“Seriously!” you scold.
“I mostly am being serious,” he admits. “I socialize. I dance. I’m fond of music - I play many instruments. Sometimes I look at art, sometimes I try to make my own. I have duties as Prince, of course, but generally I find them interesting. I spend my time quite happily.” His expression turns a bit darker and he adds, “Or, I did. Until this.”
You look at him carefully for the first time since you’d first arrived. You’ve only known this version of him - tight-shouldered, a bit serious. You wonder if he was different before the curse - freer, lighter, happier. You imagine he must have been.
“We’ll fix it,” you promise, though you have no guarantee you’ll keep it. Going back to his original question, you add, “I’d like to see the libraries, if we could. A lot of curse-breaking is looking at precedents, seeing what’s worked before.”
“What exactly are you looking for?” he asks. “I don’t know much about the process, to be honest.”
You grimace. “I probably should have explained it to you better from the start. Like I said yesterday - my first step is to uncover each thread of intention in the original curse. Then when you’ve identified every thread, it’s kind of a game of finding the simplest, shortest amount of steps to counter them. Then, of course, actually casting it correctly can be challenging, too.”
He’s quiet for a long time, and after a bit of silence - broken only by the crash of waves - you reach out and gingerly rest your fingertips atop his forearm. Like yesterday, when he’d held your hand down the steps, you thrill at the touch.
“They called me for a reason,” you tell him seriously. “I’ve never failed. Sometimes it takes me a while, and sometimes I have to try more than once - but I’ve never not been able to work it out, eventually.”
He doesn’t say anything, but you watch his throat work as he keeps his eyes on the distant horizon.
“We’ll fix it,” you say again, more determination in your voice this time. “I’ll fix it. Okay?”
Eventually, he sighs and places his other hand on yours, covering it completely. “I have faith in you,” he says, something open in his voice. Like you’ve struggled through the underbrush in the woods and stumbled across a path, the way forward suddenly clear. “I trust you.”
You stay like that a bit longer, acutely aware of his hand on yours, until he sighs and withdraws it, casting a baleful look at the palace above and behind you. “It’s nearing midnight,” he says sadly. “I’d better get to where I belong.”
“Can someone walk me back to my quarters?” you ask, a little embarrassed. “I don’t know the way.”
He furrows his brow at you and reaches for your hand. “Someone?” he repeats, as if offended. “I’m walking you back.”
As if you should have known. As if there were any other option he’d accept.
You aren’t sure what’s happening here. You aren’t sure the purpose of it, the sense of it. But his wavy hair hangs over his browline, his deep eyes are on your face, and that hint of a smile flirts in the corner of his mouth as he waits for you. So you put your hand in his and let him lead you home.
In the morning, when Sateul comes to collect the dishes from breakfast, she informs you, “Prince Taehyung has asked me to accompany you to one of the private libraries today.”
You get ready quickly, though Satuel waits patiently outside your doors, at attention. The walk to the libraries is longer than the ones you’ve been accustomed to, and you notice you’re mostly headed up. In fact, the journey ends with a spiral staircase that almost gives you vertigo; you hold the wall gingerly as you take each step carefully.
This particular library must be at the top of a turret. The view from the windows, peeking between bookshelves, is so phenomenal that you almost forget about your research.
“I’ll be at the bottom of this staircase,” Satuel tells you. “Please call if you need something.”
“I need an ice bath,” you grumble, massaging your aching calves. Beside you, Namjoon shoots you a sympathetic smile.
You spend the whole day there, perusing the bookshelves, pulling out tomes that might prove useful. Satuel brings you lunch at midday, and shortly after the three of you trek halfway across the palace to the nearest bathroom, just to go right back up those same damn stairs when you’re done.
But it’s worth it; it takes all three of you to carry back the books you and Namjoon select, about an hour before dinner will be served.
When you drop the books gently onto the low table in your quarters, Satuel heads back to her post in the corridor, and you and Namjoon look down at your haul.
“Not bad,” you muse.
You settle in, picking up books at random and flipping through to find parts that might be relevant, scanning indexes. When dinner time rolls around, you both put in your order, stopping to eat when the food comes, and then getting right back to work.
Somehow, you aren’t surprised when the prince arrives at your doors, even though he hadn’t promised to come by, not like yesterday.
“I was going to ask if you made it to the libraries,” he says, smiling wryly, “but I can see that you have.”
You can’t help it - you beam. “I want to live up there.”
His smile turns into something playful. “That’s what you said about the seaside, too.”
You consider this. “I would like my seaside home to have a turret library,” you finally declare.
“I’ll work on it,” he teases. Behind you, Namjoon quietly closes the book he was looking through.
“Anyway,” Prince Taehyung says, clearing his throat a little. “Was it fruitful? Are they helpful?”
“I think so,” you say, looking at Namjoon for confirmation. “We’re working through the books we found, writing down the parts that are useful. It’ll take a while, though. We found a lot.”
“Good,” he says, nodding. “Good. I’m glad you’re making progress.”
You think of his silence by the ocean last night, how you’d felt the need to protect him, to reassure him.
“We are,” you say solidly.
He looks at you, tilts his head just slightly. “Can you afford to take a break? I was going to the stable. Namjoon, as always, you are more than welcome. You haven’t seen the amarisca up close, have you?”
“I haven’t,” Namjoon admits. “But I hate to say, I’m not as drawn to magical creatures as Y/N clearly is.”
You press your lips together, wondering if he’s including the prince in that list of magical creatures.
“I’d like to go,” you venture timidly.
You feel a little guilty - this isn’t part of the job, it’s adding nothing to your research, you’re leaving Namjoon behind and he’s looking at you with that knowing gleam in his eyes.
But when you get outside the palace and look at the stars and smell the ocean, and Prince Taehyung holds your hand tightly as you make your way down sea-worn, stone steps… it makes all the bad parts quieter. The fear, the uncertainty, the homesickness, the grief you’ve experienced over the last few days… they don’t seem to cut as deeply when his brown eyes find yours.
And as long as you don’t let yourself think too much about how pointless that is, how he’s crown prince of a land that’s not your home and you’re a nobody from a tiny university town… as long as you don’t think about that… the distraction is nice.
This time, when he leads you down the stairs, his hand feels familiar and right as it closes around yours.
You press a hand gently to the amarisca’s muscly, teal neck, stroking the soft fur there. Prince Taehyung puts his hand atop yours, guiding it down her neck and to the top again, his body pressed close behind yours. You look over your shoulder at him in wonder, and the smile he gives you seems tinged with a sadness that you don’t understand at all.
This time, on the way back, you stop and stare at the stars, and he leans close, close enough that your arms touch as you both look skyward.
This time, as he leads you back up the damp stairs towards the palace, you tug on his hand.
“Why are you doing this?” you ask. Something in you aches to know the truth. “You don’t have to babysit me, you know. I learned my lesson the first day.”
“I told you,” he says, brow furrowing, “I’m invested in your well-being. If you’re unhappy enough to leave, then I’ll never get better.”
You don’t know if you believe him. You wish you would believe him. The alternative is just sad - you’re not stupid enough to think a six hundred year old Infracti with a crown on his head would be interested in a nothing human.
Focus, you think. Focus on why you’re here.
When you return to your rooms, Namjoon looks half-asleep on the couch, the lights low.
“How was your field trip?” he asks, stretching and starting to rise. You realize he’d waited up for you. You’re not sure how you feel about this.
“I feel like I’m spinning in circles,” you admit. “Like I can’t remember what I’m really here for.”
“He’s charming,” Namjoon says carefully, pausing on his path to his bedroom.
You choose not to answer that. “We’ll get to work in the morning,” you say finally. “We’ll see what we can come up with, and we’ll work on getting home.”
You wait until Namjoon’s behind his bedroom door, and you bend down to rifle through the books you’d brought from the library until you find the one you’d hidden in with the others.
Beginner Spells and Magical Theory, something you’d never really studied. Something you’d never thought you needed. Something you hadn’t known was a part of you.
You take the book into your bedroom and sit on the edge of your bed holding it, but you don’t crack it open. Eventually, you slide it under your bed and head for the bathroom.
You’re not ready. Tonight is not the night.
-
Then, like a switch flipped, the prince stops coming to check on you. You don’t see Prince Taehyung - or any of the royal family - for the next two days. You and Namjoon stay in your rooms, books spread across the floor, papers on every surface. On the second day, Satuel takes you to the turret library, saying she has the prince’s permission to let you go there for a change of scenery. But he doesn’t come check in either night.
It’s the morning of the third day of solitude (well, solitude with Namjoon) when you roll dramatically over onto your back, the stone floor cool and solid beneath you, and bemoan to the wooden ceiling, “I think my brain is soup.”
“Soup sounds good,” Namjoon says from his spot about six feet away. Books are open in a full circle around him; he has no path out. It seems like an apt metaphor, you think.
“I’m going to be honest about something,” you say, eyes still on the ceiling.
“When are you ever not?” he quips, but pushes the book he was reading a few inches away and turns to look at you, ready for whatever you’re going to drop on him.
“I think we have everything we’re going to have at this point,” you say, and then struggle to sit up so you can see his reaction.
He frowns at you. “Why does that not sound the same as I think we’re ready?”
You sigh. “I don’t think we’re ready. I don’t think we have everything. But as far as asking the prince questions and researching what we have… I think this is it. We aren’t getting any further.”
Namjoon looks around the books nearest him, still frowning. “What do you suggest?”
You shrug, even though you do have a few ideas. “I think we should try with what we have,” you say. “I can usually get a read from the first attempt - I can tell if we’re on the right track, going in the right direction. I get a good feel for if we need to remove anything, and sometimes I can press for more.”
Namjoon’s eyebrows shoot up. “You want to try a counter-curse? Already? Do you think that’s safe?”
You tap your feet against the stone floor, thinking. “It’s not unsafe,” you say. “It just might not… seem very productive. But, to me, it’ll help. I just need everyone’s trust, I guess.”
He shakes his head. “I trust you… I’m not so sure about the King and Queen. You can’t just cast on the crown prince willy-nilly and hope something comes of it.”
“Willy-nilly,” you repeat with a scoff. “Very academic of you.”
He tosses a pen at you and you let it clatter to the floor after it bounces off your kneecap.
“It’s not willy-nilly,” you defend. “The benefits outweigh the risks, Namjoon. I need some direction, and the magic will point me. What are we going to do otherwise, keep spinning our wheels down here while life carries on without us back home?”
He frowns more deeply, but drops your gaze. Finally he asks, “How confident are you that it won’t hurt him? Or, worse, put you out of commission? You know I can’t do this by myself.”
You ignore this last part. “I’m very confident that at worst one or both of us will need to rest for a day or two. Nothing worse than that.”
You stare at each other in silence, both doing calculations in your heads - risks, benefits, all of it.
“My grandfather put you in charge,” he says finally, and you know a victory when you see one. “If you think that’s the best step, I’ll support you.”
Hours later, after you’ve picked up all the books from the floor, after you’ve compiled all the paper you’d scribbled on and made just one cohesive list of counter-threads, after you’ve showered and changed into something presentable, you stand in a mostly empty room of the palace.
The King and Queen are seated. Namjoon stands just behind your left shoulder, ready to help if things go very wrong. Prince Taehyung stands across from you, looking drawn and nervous.
He can’t be more nervous than you are, you think. Under the King and Queen’s gazes, you feel like a spectacle.
“I would like to reiterate,” you say, holding up a finger, “that I very much do not expect this to actually break the curse today. However, it should cause no serious harm to try, and I expect that when we are done I’ll know if we’ve miscalculated anything, and a direction on what might still be missing.”
“No serious harm,” Prince Taehyung mutters, and you can’t help but smile across at him.
“You’ll be okay,” you promise. “It just might not be… pleasant.”
He grimaces, but remains quiet this time.
You glance at the paper on the small podium to your right, recounting the steps, mouthing the incantations to yourself as if you’re rehearsing.
“Okay,” you say finally, holding up a palm for the prince. “I’m ready when you are.”
He seems to need to collect himself, then presses his palm up to yours and waits, anxious eyes on your face, pretty mouth turned down into a frown.
You begin reciting the opening incantations, the ones that call up your magic - the magic you used to think you pulled from the world around you, that you’re now learning comes from deep within you.
You know when it works, you always do; the feeling is electrifying, thrilling, a euphoria you’ve never felt from anything else. Magic running through your veins like blood makes you feel alive in ways you didn’t know you could before you’d started practicing counter-curses. Now, the electricity runs stronger, as if the magic is magnified by the Infracti touching you.
It occurs to you that this might be exactly the case.
You move onto the next counter-threads, speaking slowly and clearly as you try to untangle the pain, the confusion, the suppression of self that Prince Taehyung experiences each night.
You concentrate on the incantation, but you close your eyes and let yourself feel -  little flickering flame-fingers of magic reaching out and tentatively poking at the mess of magic inside the prince, trying to locate each single thread, ready to tug each one and - ideally - unravel the whole ball.
You know it’s doing something when he flinches, then carefully presses his palm more firmly against yours, like he’s afraid he’s broken the connection.
The tendrils of your magic report back - you can feel where each thread of your countercurse connects to a thread of the curse, ready to pull them out. You can feel just how much is left unconnected.
There’s so much there that your magic hasn’t touched.
The magic sings to you: not enough, it’s not enough, it isn’t enough, it’s not -
The connection breaks as Prince Taehyung’s eyes flash to fathomless black and there’s a split second where you’re afraid you did the opposite of what you intended, called forth the beast. But then his knees buckle and he starts to drop.
The Queen shouts and stands, but your reflexes are fast, too. You have the prince by the elbows and you sink to the ground with him, gently. You feel rather than see Namjoon move closer, ready to help.
By the time you’ve lowered you both to your knees, still clutching his elbows and using all of your core strength to try and hold him upright, he’s back - blinking human-looking eyes at you, fingers twitching and then clutching your arms back.
“That,” he mumbles, “did not feel nice.”
“I know,” you whisper, just for him. “I’m sorry. It’s over now.”
Namjoon makes it to you first, having been standing the closest, and he helps both of you clamber unsteadily to your feet. The King and Queen approach, and you gingerly let go of the prince’s elbows, watching to make sure he’s staying on his feet.
“I suppose it didn’t work,” the King says drolly.
“I’ve got a pretty good idea where to go from here,” you say, and you do. But the prince is unsteady on his feet, fighting to keep his eyes open and alert. To him, you say, “It’s my professional opinion that you need to rest. You aren’t sleeping at night, and your body needs to recover from what happened here.”
“Then I expect an update tomorrow,” the Queen says coolly, and helps Prince Taehyung to the door, where he finally succeeds at waving her off and heads down the hallway, alone.
The King follows his wife to the door and they depart as well, without a look back, let alone a goodbye.
You turn to Namjoon, who is shaking his head at you. “That went well,” he says sarcastically.
“We’re missing threads,” you tell him, certain. “There’s a lot we haven’t uncovered yet. What we have is good - but there’s a lot more. I felt it.”
“So how do we figure that out?” he asks, voice a little rough with frustration.
You miss Dr. Kim. Namjoon has certainly held his own down here, but you and Dr. Kim had a partnership, mutual trust. His expertise outweighed yours - he would have at least had a suggestion at a time like this, not scorn.
“There’s a ritual I can try,” you say, thinking out loud. “If he’ll let me.”
“Considering you just tried to knock him out,” Namjoon says dryly, “I don’t think he’s going to be very agreeable.”
“I’m going to try to convince him anyway,” you say decisively. “And I think I should go by myself.”
“Of course you do,” Namjoon says easily, and your temper flares.
“Another person’s energy will affect the reading,” you snap. “I’ll get your energy instead of his. I don’t care what you think - I know this will work, so I’m going. I’ll see you later, at home.”
You leave abruptly, pissed off, not even registering that you’d called your little rooms home.
Dansoo and Satuel are thankfully just in the corridor, as always, and you request to be taken to the prince’s wing. Satuel brings you, walking in silence ahead of you. When you reach the prince’s doors, she waits with you while one of his personal guards slips inside to ask if he’ll see you.
You’re honestly surprised when she returns and invites you in.
You find Prince Taehyung on the same couches you’d sat on your first night here, after Jimin had brought you to these rooms.
“I knew you wouldn’t rest,” you say, and he turns to look at you. His face is unreadable, blank - even his humanlike eyes give nothing away.
“This is resting,” he says evenly.
You shake your head. “You should try and sleep.”
He turns away again, a defeated slump to his shoulders. “I can’t seem to,” he admits.
You frown, watching him carefully. “May I sit?” you ask. He holds out a hand towards the empty couch opposite him but doesn’t look at you.
You sit gingerly. “I’m sorry for what just happened,” you tell him seriously. “I know it was unpleasant.”
“It was,” he agrees, his voice tight and measured.
“What did it feel like?” you ask.
His shoulders tighten. “Like I could feel you poking around behind my ribs,” he says shortly. “And then it hurt.”
“I’m sorry it hurt you,” you murmur. You want to reach out and touch his arm, as you had a few nights ago next to the sea and under the stars, but something stops you. “I want you to know that it wasn’t my doing. The curse… protects itself, let’s say.”
This makes him turn to look at you. “The curse caused that,” he paraphrases, clearly unconvinced.
You nod. “I could feel my counter-threads connecting, and I could feel the threads we hadn’t made connection to yet,” you explain slowly. “But magic knows to protect itself. When I started trying to feel for those unconnected pieces of the curse, it - sort of kicked me out?”
He frowns. “Was it a waste of time, then?”
“Not at all,” you say quickly, encouraged. “What we just did confirmed which threads we identified correctly, and that there are some more to uncover.”
He takes this in silently for a few minutes. Then, he asks, “And, can we uncover the rest?”
“That’s why I came,” you admit. “There’s a ritual I’ve done… its purpose is to identify what’s in there.”
He scowls. “Why didn’t we do that from the beginning?”
You purse your lips, then try to explain. “Rituals like this… are always inherently risky. It’s better to figure out what you can with logic and magical theory before resorting to this.”
“Risky,” he echoes flatly. “Is it going to hurt again?”
You grimace. “It hurt a lot, huh?”
His jaw juts, just a bit. “Enough that I’m not eager to experience it twice in one day,” he says, a bit of haughtiness coming into his voice. He’s his mother’s son, indeed.
“It won’t hurt you,” you say quietly. “But there does need to be a level of trust - of allowing my magic to poke around, as you put it.”
He doesn’t answer this. He seems to wobble where he sits. Then, he lifts his tired eyes to you. For a moment, he lets you see the exhaustion, the fear, the hopelessness. He looks desolate, nearly frail.
Then, something closer to anger slides onto his face, replacing the vulnerability you were sure you were seeing. “I haven’t slept in many days,” he says, not answering your question at all.
“I’m sorry,” you murmur. “You should try. You need to rest.”
He blinks heavily, shoulders sagging. When he opens his eyes to look at you again, they’re wet and black, no longer magicked to seem human. Something hard takes over his voice, and he asks, “Can you help me? Can you make me sleep, venefici?”
“Yes,” you whisper, rising. “I can at least try.”
He closes those black eyes again, leans sideways until he’s laying down, knees bent.
You place your hands on his elbow and close your own eyes, feeling the magic rise up to you. Small spells like this were not your area of study, but you think you can manage. You at least know what to do.
It takes no time at all - less than a minute. His breathing deepens, his fingers twitch once. He is so beautiful like this, it’s hard to look at him. You remove your hand carefully and step away.
Prince Taehyung just called you witch.
Namjoon is waiting for you when you return.
“How’d it go?” he asks, sounding like he means it, even though you’d sort of argued before you left.
“I told him about the ritual,” you say, sinking onto the couch and dropping your head into your hands, emotionally spent. “He’s considering it.”
He looks at you appraisingly. “You don’t sound very happy about it,” he observes.
You sigh. “He’s just… not feeling great, from earlier. It’s fine.”
You sit there for another minute, your eyes on the ground, while he watches you, as if he might get more information out of you if he just waits it out. Finally you mutter, “I’m gonna get ready for bed,” and you slink off to your private rooms.
It’s ironic. After using your magic to help the prince find sleep for the first time since his curse began, you lay awake, unable to help yourself at all.

𓍯𓂃 fluff established relationship, no hurt just comfort, non idol!au, crying and cuddles on a bad day word count 1.2k works
Tumblr media
every person experiences good and bad days throughout their lives; that's how it works. everyone hoped that good days overcounted the bad ones, and most of the time for you, they did. however; this week was not what you could consider a good week. life was beating you up from the moment you woke up to the moment you got out of work.
since the moment you and sunghoon decided to move in together your home became a haven for the both of you. it was not a necessity to be sharing the space every single moment for you to be happy; just things like each other's scents and mundane actions that reflected your personalities made being at home a bigger delight. and even though neither of you claimed to be clingy, the fact that your out-of-the-normal busier schedules overlapped denied you of spending time together was not helping with your mood.
you were in those moments where you felt overwhelmed just by simply existing, these feelings of exhaustion and fatigue were just being bottled up. normally, whenever either of you had a bad day you would rant with each other over dinner and hate the world together for at least an hour. but now that work requires you to leave earlier and for him to arrive until late at night puts your rant sessions on hold. you miss him, and so does he, you barely talk with each other in person, most of the time under soft and sleepy whispers at midnight; your communication relies on post-it notes around the house and texts during breaks.
but thankfully the weekend was coming and you would have the entire two days to spend time with him and catch up, you just had to hold on for the next eight hours and everything would be alright.
oh boy, how wrong you were.
between school work and actual work, you were juggling your time and running on caffeine, hence, having an extremely bad day that added to the list of bad things that happened in the week, from sleeping through your alarm and running out of the door, to forgetting to check the weather app leaving you sweating your ass off literally and figuratively since you also forgot to print an essay making you run to the library. to dealing with the awful mood of your superior at work and some rude customers you were sure everyone was struggling with their day.
you just hoped the moment you arrived home everything would start to fall into place and your stress would start to dissipate. and for a moment you thought it did, even though it was an empty apartment it still brought you peace of mind the fact that you could disconnect from life for a little bit.
that was until your bad luck decided it was not leaving just yet making your electric kettle stop working, or at least that's what you thought because the moment you touched it to figure out what was going on, the handle was incredibly hot surprising you and making you remove your hand quickly without realizing your elbow hit the cup you were about to use and making it fall to the ground breaking it. maybe it was the adrenaline rush of getting burned or the loud sound of the ceramic breaking that startled you. but from one moment to another, you were now crying without knowing why, you were not hurt but all the frustrations of the past few days just came out with your sobs.
crouched down in the kitchen your cries muffled all the sound so you didn't hear the door unlocking and you didn't expect sunghoon to be home so early so it was a shock for both of you.
"whoa, what happened?" he asked while getting close to you in a worried voice "are you hurt?"
"the kettle was not working - the handle was hot and I broke the cup," you said still sobbing.
"it's okay we can buy a new one, are you sure nothing hurts?" he questioned while examining you only for you to nod. after seeing you were, in fact, alright he helped you get up and walk around the broken pieces to take you to the couch in the living room.
even though he kept reassuring you that you could replace those things you still kept crying only worrying sunghoon more. he sat on his knees in front of you cradling your face in his hands and wiping away your tears with his thumbs.
"what's going on love?" he asked softly.
"I'm not sure…" you answered him without looking at him. as if reading you he asked, "did you have a bad day?" while moving your head so you could finally look at him and you just nodded.
"do you want to talk about it?" he continued and you shook your head no. "it's okay we can talk about it later, we have the whole day."
your tears decreased while being close to him and you felt truly grateful to have someone like him in your life; someone who could share your burdens and be willing to pick you up the moment you fell down, sharing your life with someone as gentle and kind as sunghoon was the biggest blessing you could have in your life.
you joined him on the living room rug and hugged him in hopes of sharing the immense amount of love you haven't been able to express in this busy week. "I missed you so much," you whispered close to his ear.
"I missed you too, we haven't had the chance to talk a lot right?" he answered in the same voice level returning your hug tighter.
after a little bit still sitting on the floor you pat his hair while looking at him "why are you here so early? - I thought you were coming later" you now asked him.
"I thought it would be nice to share dinner after so long" he answered simply "I think we both need our usual rant sessions, don't you think?" he asked lightheartedly while caressing your now puffy eyelids, making you laugh and agree with him.
he looked at you with the most gentle eyes and the softest smile and it made your heart skip a beat, you got close to him again and lay your head on his chest while he gave you soft kisses on top of your head, both of you still on the hard floor but neither of you cared, his warm hold mixed with the scent of his perfume made you feel so comfortable and happy. both you and sunghoon were content with the fact that it was the first time in a while that you could spend time together without fighting sleepiness.
you had a lot of catching up to do and that would probably happen under the kitchen lamp with some takeout, but you felt thankful for the fact that you were in a relationship with sunghoon. you both knew that under every circumstance you would have a place to go to; you found peace in each other's company and safety in each other's arms knowing you found someone who loved you as much as you loved them.

continuing with my mindless input on cowboy reader.
I picture him being pretty tall, and obviously people can think he's a scary guy at first glance, so i think he tries to dress unintimidating or even cuddly so that people always think he's 'huggable' - that's his goal at least. particularly the team, i think he so badly wants to be somebody they can lean on or ask for help.
-🦕 anon
Sooo most of this was already written (very sorry its quite short), but I've not written in a few months but hopefully its still okay. Hope you like it!
Description: JJ thinks cowboy looks huggable.

The first time they had seen you out of your work attire, they were shocked. You stood dressed in an oversized t-shirt with a picture of you and Buddy cuddling and a pair of shorts. You had your usual cowboy hat on, but with running shoes. You didn't usually dress like this outside of work, but Ava had begged you to sleep over at the shelter, saying how badly she wanted a slumber party and you couldn't exactly say no - especially when she told you she had never had one before.
So you had agreed, dressed in your usual work attire after work - joggers, t-shirt, running shoes, and a cowboy hat. You made sure you brought your pajamas with you (the shorts and t-shirt with you and Buddy on). When it was about an hour after Ava's bedtime, you all went to bed, you sleeping on a sleeping bag you had brought with you.
When you woke up, however, your clothes were missing. Some of the kids had decided to wake up early and hide your clothes with smiles and hushed giggles.
You didn't mind, of course, they had never had a sleepover, so they were all excited. However, you got a call from Hotch saying you had a case - a child abduction, and you had to get there within the hour. You explained the situation to the kids, trying to reassure them when you saw the panic on their faces.
"T's okay, kiddos, where are my clothes?"
"We can't find them," Ava said, eyes widening.
"That's okay, where was the last place you saw them?"
You watch as the kids all share confused looks, Ava's eyes starting to water, "W-we checked everywhere already!" Ava sniffed, "We looked everywhere! We put them under a cushion but they're not there!"
You give a small smile, trying to calm her down, "T's okay, kiddo, I don't mind goin' ta work like this," You grin slightly and Ava sniffs again, wiping her eyes.
"M sorry,"
You give a gentle sigh, more worried about the state she's gotten herself into as you pull her into a soft embrace. "Nah, don't worry about it,"
Half an hour later, you rocked up to the bullpen, still (technically) in your pajamas. You hadn't had time to go home to grab some new clothes, especially with the deadline Hotch had given you. So you'd just have to change into an outfit from your duffel bag.
"What on Earth..." Morgan grinned, seeing you walk in wearing a pair on shorts and a t-shirt with you and Buddy - what with the boots and the cowboy hat, it was quite a sight.
"Don't even ask," You huffed a small laugh, rubbing the back of your neck. Making your way over to your desk, you grab your duffle bag.
"Oh, no, we have to ask," Penelope grins, "We can't not ask,"
You place the hat on your desk as you grab your duffel bag. "I went for a sleepover at the shelter I volunteer at. The kids thought it would be funny to hide my clothes," You grin slightly, "Then the rascals forgot where they hid 'em,"
Morgan gives a small chuckle as Emily gives you a smirk.
"It's a good look for you, Cowboy," JJ gave you a smile, looking you up and down. "You look huggable,"
You felt your cheeks tint a light pink and you turn to her, rolling your eyes gently. "Yeah, yeah,"
"I'm just saying," She let her eyes flick up and down once more. "It suits you." She raised her cup of coffee (to hide her own blush) before taking a sip. Your jaw dropped slightly as JJ walked off. Morgan clapped a hand on your shoulder.
"Even in your pj's you've still got game."

We can be heroes, just for one day

Pairing: Clark Kent X GN!Reader
Clark and YN’s date is interrupted, forcing Clark to make a choice that could change his relationship with Y/N forever…
Content Warnings: some wine mentions, mentions of a gun, some light kissing, mostly fluff and flirting
A/N: enjoy some short fluff I wrote while being utterly and horribly sick last week. Clark deserves a little wine and a nice kiss.

➽──────────────❥
As they sit hunched over your cluttered and cramped desk in the dim newsroom of The Daily Planet, they will themselves to stay awake.
The aroma of stale coffee and old bagels lingers in the air, a bitter reminder of what’s waiting for them in the break room and their lazy leftovers at home. With a defeated sigh, they contemplate going for another cup of the watered down brew that’s called “coffee” around here. It’s the only caffeine they can get without actually leaving the office besides lukewarm energy drinks in the vending machine.
Their saving grace comes in the form of Clark, who slides the warm cup of some obscurely named café across their desk. “You looked like you could use it,” he smiles, rendering them speechless, but they’re thankful all the same
They perk up with a smile.
“Thank you Clark.”
They found the man charming, although he was less authoritative than his peers and less outspoken, they found his intellect and his shy sense of humor fascinating.
The two of them had talked for a while last month at the office Christmas party, and ever since Y/N had noticed that Clark and them had been spending their free time around the office doing small favors for one another, such as bringing each other coffee.
They notice him drinking from his own cup of coffee, still smiling as he turns to look at them. He takes his time drinking it, but his eyes meet theirs again as he sets the cup down, his smile bright and endearing. "So have you been enjoying the holiday break?" He asks, not wanting to make eye contact in case he ends up staring.
“It’s been good.” They nod. It’s been quiet in their house since their ex left right before Christmas, and for a fleeting moment it dampens their mood, but then the next sip of good coffee that their work buddy Clark brought them cheers them up.
“How has yours been? See any family?” They ask, they know Clark is a big family man and cares a lot for his parents, so you can only imagine he’s been visiting those friends he’s always saying he’s out with and his family at his home home.
"It was great, I had the chance to spend time with my parents and I..."
Clark's voice trailed off as he realized he was about to give away too much personal information. He had never spoken about his family before to anyone besides those close to him, at least not at length, but talking to them felt safe and... different. He wanted them to know they were more than a co-worker, despite the fact he was still figuring out what they were.
"Nothing too exciting" he finished, feeling himself smile uncontrollably once again.
“Well I’m glad you got some rest,” Y/N smiled. They wanted to touch base with Clark about what exactly they were, never quite touching the lines between acquaintances and friends…
But before Y/N could do anything, Clark spoke.
“Listen,” he said, voice low. “Would you maybe…want to get a drink with me after work sometime?” He asked, leaning against their desk.
The two of them stood in a comfortable silence, each aware of how much rides on this simple decision.
"Will you join me?" He asked, looking into their eyes once again.
"Just a drink, let's keep it casual"
They swallowed. It was so soon after their ex had left them…especially for her. They weren’t sure if they were ready yet but….
It was Clark.
They trusted Clark.
“Sure” they said. Smiling softly up at him, they lifted their cup in a silly gesture of cheers. “Toast to it?” They asked.
There it was, he had his answer. He was filled with elation and relief in that moment.
"Of course" he replied, clinking their cups together and taking a sip. They were going on a date, this was really happening.
Clark's heart soared as he smiled back at them, it was going to take time for things to develop, but at the very least, he felt confident they had taken another big step.
-
Time that day had seemed to go ever so slowly in the office. Y/N kept finding themself staring at the clock, waiting for the time when they could clock out and go home to get ready for their meeting with Clark.
Their date with Clark.
The hours dragged on, time felt like it was moving at a glacial pace, but finally, they were able to clock out and head home to get ready.
The prospect of the date had them feeling a mix of emotions, mostly excitement but there was also a hint of slight hesitation, not due to Clark but rather the recent heartbreak.
Time to get ready and hopefully try to relax a little.
They slowly prepared themselves the best they could. After a long shower with their best products, they put on their best collared shirt and a jacket, and their very best pair of jeans that hugged their ass just right.
Maybe that last part was a little vain. Y/N didn’t mind.
They then sprayed their best cologne on them, especially in the crook of their neck and around their jaw. They wanted to be tempting, even if nothing happened tonight.
Which they would also be okay with, they knew Clark liked to do things the old fashioned way sometimes. You could tell he liked to take things slow, but there was a spark, a hint of passion underneath it all.
It would take more time, but it was worth the wait.
Y/N went to the bar they agreed upon at promptly 8. The front looked like a romantic cigar lounge, the inside lit with a warm lighting and deep red interior with dark wood. Y/N liked this.
People on the street milled about, and it was still chilly since it was mid January now, the Christmas lights still wrapped around the light pole outside. They began to look for Clark to arrive, as he was almost always punctual.
Clark had made sure to dress appropriately, he had taken his time, but he was ready for this date. The night and the cool air was a good excuse to wear a coat and Clark was prepared to play the part of the gentleman for every second of it.
It was easy to spot the bar, located in the heart of the town; it was bustling with life and energy. He looks for Y/N and sees them looking out for him, their hair shines in the light and he smiles to himself.
Y/N suddenly spotted a tall but non-imposing figure in the crowd. They were always surprised how much Clark could blend in one minute and stand out the next. It was like a superpower or something.
“Clark!” They called, waving over a few couples walking past. They locked eyes with the man and smiled as he crossed the sidewalk to meet them at the entrance.
Clark's heart raced a little as they locked eyes, he didn't say anything at first, simply choosing to look at them, their eyes glowing in the lighting.
He looks them up and down, appreciating the time they obviously spent getting ready.
"I hope I didn't keep you waiting long?"
”No, don’t worry you- you didn’t,” Y/N shivers. They can’t tell whether it’s the cold air or the fact that Clark is closer than usual right now but they feel all warm despite the snow on the ground. “Should we go in?” They asked, cocking their head towards the bouncer at the door.
"We should," Clark replies, moving to guide them inside. He notices the shiver and his heart flutters slightly, he's going to have to be careful. His intention was to take it slow, but with the chemistry between them, his mind kept wondering what it would feel like to kiss them.
‘Calm down, it's been hours not months, one step at a time’ he reminds himself.
As they approached the Boucher side by side, Y/N handed over their ID. They watched the bouncer scan it, scan their face, and scan their age before slowly handing it back to them with a nod.
Quietly, Y/N stepped to the side.
Clark then stepped up, they could see the bouncer inspect his ID, and as he read Clark’s name his eyebrows raised.
“Clark Kent?” The man said. “You’re that one journalist! I’ve read your articles.”
Clark smiled and nodded at the bouncer, he knew his fame would be followed him around, but he didn't mind too much. It was always surprising to see how many men and women knew him, and it always gave him a little ego boost.
"It's my hobby" he responded, before gently guiding Y/N inside with him, hoping he wasn't intimidating them too much.
Y/N smiled, sticking a little closer to Clark’s side. Suddenly, they swallowed their nerves and wrapped their hands around one of Clark’s arms at his side.
“Impressive,” Y/N said as Clark led them both further inside.
The interior of the bar was as expected from the impression outside. It was dim but intimate. There was a short but steady melody of jazz coming from a live band in a corner of the bar towards the front window in a pit like stage.
Clark smiled as he felt their hand wrap around his arm, it was the perfect amount of familiar but without being too much, he liked that.
That was a great atmosphere for a date, the live band playing a mellow and seductive song added the perfect element to the evening.
It was almost like they belonged together, even at this point.
"You know, when I'm not being a journalist I'm just a regular guy" he says, hoping they don't see him as anything other than who he was.
Y/N quirked and eyebrow. “Oh yeah? Why don’t you find us a seat and tell me more about what you do besides journalism,” Y/N smiled. “No other dark serial killer personalities I should be worried about though, right?”
Clark laughed softly, he couldn't resist laughing. It was funny to imagine himself with multiple dark personalities, and he loved that they went back to their conversation from the office.
"Well, there's no serial killer...that you know of," he replied, not able to help himself from teasing them a little.
Dark secret personality number two: Unwitting flirt
Y/N laughed softly. They didn’t know Clark was a tease.
They tucked that information away for another time.
Clark led them both to a booth in a corner, close enough that the jazz was a nice background to their conversation but not loud enough to interrupt.
A waiter came by shortly to get their order.
“What will it be?” The girl said in her neat black and white uniform with her pencil and pad.
Y/N looked at Clark. “I don’t know what’s good here. What are you getting?” They asked shyly.
Clark sat beside them in the booth, he loved how close they were in that small little moment. The dim lighting made it even better, like he was sitting with his significant other. It felt nice and he was a little nervous.
When the waiter came he replied with his order, his voice slightly deeper than normal. "I'll be having the salmon with white wine please."
He turned his attention to them. Hmm, I wonder what that cute little mind of yours is going to order? He thought.
”Can I have the steak with the red wine please, then?” Y/N said after a moment of consideration. Then, they glanced over at Clark staring at them and blushed.
The girl took their order and hurried away to serve more people. They would give her a big tip after this.
“So, Mr. Not a Serial Killer, what do you do in your spare time?” Y/N asked, propping their chin on their hand with their elbow resting on the table near the tea light candle in the center. They locked eyes.
Clark chuckled as he saw them blush, it was too cute to resist, and he enjoyed that he made them blush.
He watched the waiter leave with their attention, but quickly returned it back to Y/N. He couldn’t help but admire how beautiful they were, it was almost hard not to stare.
"I play basketball at the local rec centre, read a lot and go to the gym” he said as part of his reply, he added a bit of a smirk as he did.
“Oh that’s nice!” Y/N said.
The waiter came back with both of their wines respectively and placed them in front of them both. Clark took a small sip of his after swirling it so Y/N did the same.
It was sweet and heady, and went straight to their head. They shouldn’t have more than 2 of these tonight…probably.
“I read a lot too…” Y/N said, placing the wine glass back on the table.
He took his glass and sipped from it, looking up and watching as he saw Y/N take a sip of theirs. The sweet taste was nice on the pallets, and the feeling of the slight intoxication that it gave them was pleasant as well.
"Oh yeah? What kind of books? I like action, thrillers and mystery," he asked, his voice slightly slowed but still under control, he didn't want to seem like a drunkard right now by downing wine too fast, even if he couldn’t get drunk.
Y/N smiled.
“What a coincidence, I love a good thriller and mystery.” They suddenly leaned forward, face lit lowly by the small candle, “But I’m also a fan a good romance.”
Y/N smiled guiltily and pulled back to watch Clark.
Clark's voice caught in his throat like a school boy, his face flushed and his heart was pounding. How could Y/N have just hit him with that information so suddenly, his heart was thumping against his chest.
He wasn't sure how to respond, he had hoped there might be some hint of interest but he wasn't sure enough to try yet.
You idiot, he thought to himself, you'll ruin this if you don't play it perfectly.
The waiter came back with their food soon, and the mood cooled down. They both ate in relative happiness, occasionally taking sips of their wines.
Y/N was obviously becoming more affected than Clark was. But of course, they didn’t know Clark wasn’t affected by human alcohol like a normal person.
The jazz was nice as a filler to no conversation at the moment.
They finished their meals and sat back, ready to talk. Y/N smiled, finishing their last sip of wine.
Clark finished off his meal with ease, he wasn't an exceptionally hungry person, but he was a little surprised by Y/N’s reaction towards the wine. They made a cute lightweight.
He finished his food, setting his utensils down as he settled back in his seat. His attention was still on them, and he could tell the wines had affected something as he saw them smirk and finish their glass. He was a little nervous to ask them out on a second date but he knew he was going to.
”So, farm-boy,” Y/N slightly drawled, “Tell me about yourself.” They set the glass on the table and smirked.
Farm Boy? He hadn't expected that line, it caught him off guard, and his blush was definitely visible now. He could imagine his face was red as a tomato by this point. As they finished speaking though, he had to regain his composure.
He laughed quietly to himself, before answering them. "What exactly would you like to know?"
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Y/N asked, genuinely confused for a moment, but Clark didn’t seem to pick up on it.
Thankfully, at that moment, the band began to play another song that was low and brassy, with a sultry tone.
Y/N nodded along for a moment, enjoying the feeling the wine gave them.
“Anyways,” they continued, “you like to read huh? I know you have family, tell me about them. Your mom and dad? The farm? What’s it like being a pampered only child?” They asked.
Clark laughed at first as he took no offense to their tone, it was a bit sharp and teasing, but Clark knew they meant no ill will by it and enjoyed the flirting that was happening between them both. The change of music also provided a nice cover and backdrop to their conversation, which was nice.
"Oh so you want the full origin story?" He asked teasingly, looking at them and raising his eyebrow.
“Yeah I think I do,” they said.
The waitress came by to refill their wine.
“I’ll show you mine if you show me yourrssss…” Y/N teased as they drew their index finger around the rim of their wine glass.
Clark tried to not appear too affected by their teasing but it was no use he was already under their spell, he had to bite his lip to not smile or even laugh at their words.
Clark was tempted to continue with the flirting but held himself back for the sake of maintaining a little bit of control. Instead of going straight into the full origin story he decided to meet them halfway.
"Okay how about we flip a little script?" He says looking them square in the eyes.
”What does that mean?” Y/N asked. There was a very good chance Clark was going to ask for a juicy secret in return for something perfectly mundane.
Clark couldn't help but smile as Y/N asked the question, they were clearly curious now to what he had in mind, and the mystery of it intrigued them.
"Hmm how can I explain this so it makes sense?..."
A light bulb went off above Clark's head as he got an idea to help them understand.
"What if I ask you a question instead?"
“Go ahead.” Y/N said. They were intrigued as to where this was going.
He took a moment to think, his mind running a million miles per hour right now after the wine and their continued flirting.
"Okay, well let's keep this short and sweet, what is your most embarrassing memory?"
Clark thought this would be an easy one to start with, it was a safe bet for him, and also he was secretly hoping it would help get to know a bit more about them. His mind was filled with anticipation and hope.
They flushed harder, and this time it wasn’t the wine.
They couldn’t think of anything for a moment, but then- it hit them.
Could they tell Clark this?
Really?
Well…
They sipped their wine ever so slightly again. This was the best answer they had.
“Oh god…” they bemoaned. “I guess…” Y/N sat backwards in the seat for a moment and took a big sip of their wine, preparing. They sighed.
“Don’t tell anybody this, okay?” They said sitting forward suddenly leaning close to Clark. “When I was a teenager, I had this…boy on my block. We were childhood friends but we hadn’t talked for a few years. Then, when I graduated, all of the sudden at my graduation party he showed up uninvited and dragged me…” Y/N swallowed. The alcohol was getting to them, “…he dragged me to a bathroom upstairs away from everyone and uh…that was my first time. Then I never saw him again after that party but I think about him every now and then and I also think about how I had to use my sister's makeup to cover my hickies in 10 minutes before going down to cut cake.”
Clark's breath caught in his chest as he heard their story, the way Y/N was sharing something so personal and a bit embarrassing was extremely attractive to him. He felt his heart beating faster and couldn't stop staring into their eyes.
As they finished their story he gently grabbed their hand to hold it and support them, it wasn't just for them though, it was also to keep him from reacting more than he normally would. He smiled softly at them as they ended their story.
“Don’t laugh!” Y/N giggled. They couldn’t help it, it was a pretty pathetic and embarrassing story. But now, Clark was at their mercy.
“So, now you owe me one question.” Y/N said.
Clark raised an eyebrow. They were now over the small candle of the table.
“What’s your biggest fantasy?” Y/N asked, quietly.
Clark was tempted to say some joke about his biggest fantasy involving them in the most romantic way possible, but that was too predictable and he realized there was no need to. Instead his mind went straight to an actual fantasy of his.
"Oh boy, my biggest fantasy" he said with a smirk as he thought about it, it was a lot less embarrassing than theirs but still a bit embarrassing.
"Ahh...well, you're not going to like it."
Y/N wasn’t so sure. “Go on!” They said, insistently. “Tell me all the little details, you owe me.” They slurred, crossing their arms against their chest, humpfing loudly.
Clark thought about sharing his fantasy, they had shared theirs, so it was only fair he did the same. And it was slightly cute how much they wanted to know.
Clark smiled, he was enjoying their flirty demeanor, that slur and them crossing their arms, it made him chuckle. He was finding it way more entertaining than he should have, but he couldn't resist, even if was going to result in embarrassment. He was being led down a path he couldn't say no to.
Clark leaned forward slightly, so they could hear him better.
Y/N leaned closer so they could hear at all.
Clark was close enough to almost feel their breath as he spoke.
"So for me, my fantasy is basically…to have a family..."
He smiled nervously, trying to keep his cool but it wasn't working, he felt his face become flushed from their closeness.
"That's it. Plain and simple, my biggest fantasy is to have a family of my own one day."
Y/N’s nose wrinkled as they smiled wider and wider before laughing loudly.
“Really?” They said, catching their breath. But after a moment, they considered it. “Actually…that’s really sweet. You really are a sweet guy.” Y/N said leaning back in.
Clark couldn't stop the smile forming on his face as they laughed, the sound of their laughter was soothing to him that even their laugh was attractive to him.
When they finally leaned away, he did as well, but it was impossible to hide his blushing. The whole interaction he was caught in a trance with how sweet and endearing they looked.
He wanted to reply to their compliment, but all the was coming out was a soft, awkward chuckle.
”You know what mine is?” Y/N said quietly.
Clark leaned in, intrigued suddenly.
“Affordable Housing” Y/N giggled.
Clark rolled his eyes.
“I’m kidding!” They smiled and played with the stem of Clark’s wine glass. “It’s actually to be content. Don’t ask me what that means, I’m not sure I’ll know what it is until I find it, but I think it involves someone special and a steady paycheck.” Y/N sighed.
Clark laughed at their play on words, and even their follow up explanation. They were sweet and playful, and he was growing more fond of them with each interaction. Y/N mentioned something he could agree with, a steady paycheck and having someone special in his life would definitely make him content.
Clark leaned forward slightly, his voice becoming softer, more genuine as he replied to them.
"I can understand what you mean, I think the same too. Especially the second part."
”Yeah?” Y/N said. “I think you’re doing pretty good for yourself Mr. Clark Kent getting recognized by the bouncer and is friends with Louis Lane herself” they rolled their eyes playfully.
He couldn't help but chuckle at that, they were right, he was doing pretty good for himself, but he didn't feel like explaining it to them just yet. Not to mention the fact at he was enjoying their playful teasing, he actually loved it.
"I try." He says smilingly, "That doesn't mean I don't wish my life was a little more stable and less dramatic though."
Y/N raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?” They sniffed the last half of their wine. “What do you do on the weekends besides read Sherlock and write amazing articles?” They sighed and their eyes moved up suddenly to look at Clark over their glass.
Clark was feeling comfortable enough with them now to share a little more about himself, after all they had just shared their deepest and embarrassing secret so it was only fair he also said more about himself too. And his answer wasn't much different from their initial assumption.
"On the weekends, I try to read as much as I can, I also enjoy watching documentaries and playing certain games here and there...and that's about it."
“So, I guess you really don’t have any secret B side personality you’re hiding from anybody, huh?” They asked.
Clark started to sweat. They needed to know about him…eventually, maybe just not right now.
Clark was caught off guard, they had read him like a book, he definitely didn't want to reveal too much about the double identity he led, but at the same time Y/N wasn't dumb, it'd be inevitable that they find out, unless he did something to prevent that.
Clark smiled nervously with a chuckle.
"I mean-" he starts to reply hesitantly and hesitatingly, he pauses for a second, he can't just reveal everything now.
"Not entirely."
Y/N smiled. “Well we all have secrets, Clark…” they teased.
“I guess we’ll just have to figure these things out about each other, huh?” Y/N looked at the band playing across the bar now.
Clark would tell them. Not now.
But definitely eventually.
“Maybe I’m the crazy serial killer,” Y/N said, unconvincingly, throwing their hands out half-heartedly and bearing their teeth.
Clark couldn't help but laugh at the idea of Y/N being a serial killer, especially when they bared their teeth. The image of that scene playing out was enough to make him chuckle loudly.
"I mean..." he starts, a sly smile on his face, "I haven't seen any evidence that disproves it, so you never know I suppose."
“Well, if I get caught, you can have the first interview with me in prison.” Y/N promised solemnly, with their hand over their heart slightly drunkenly.
“But I can’t promise I won’t eat your heart out first,” Y/N winked and slid a 20$ bill on the table as a tip to the waiter along with more cash for the payment.
Clark chuckled at the idea of interviewing them in prison, but it was all a nice image to paint.
"I look forward to interviewing you then, you can also count on me to bring you some real food besides me." He joked back, playing along with their teasing.
Clark was impressed by how generous they were with the tip, a sweet personality and generous too, he could definitely see why he was crushing on Y/N, his admiration was growing by the minute.
”We should go, it’s gonna snow harder soon.” Y/N said, slurring slightly. They tipped off the last half of their wine and Clark did the same. He still wasn’t affected by it, but Y/N was feeling warm and confident.
The outside of the bar was a bit colder than it was earlier. There was more snow on the ground, but just barely enough to crunch underfoot as they walked. Y/N clung onto Clark’s arm as they slowly sauntered towards both of their apartment buildings.
Clark was enjoying Y/N's affectionate behavior, the way they were clinging onto his arm, the fact that they were drunk and clingy was quite adorable to him. The whole scene was quite cute, it felt safe and comforting in a way he hadn't experienced a lot before. He enjoyed being here, if not for the weather, it'd almost be perfect. He was enjoying this, it was a lot nicer than he had expected.
The walk home was silent, besides Y/N’s occasional humming of a commercial jingle or show theme. Ever so often, Y/N would find the courage to grab Clark’s hand and drag him along confidently towards the end of whatever street they were walking on at the moment, almost skipping and twirling around happily.
Clark had to admit, their actions when they were drunk were cute and endearing, they were so carefree it was hard not to feel happy around them. They were also rather comfortable with being affectionate as well, which he loved a lot about them.
He continued to follow along the lead, but was occasionally tempted to lift Y/N up for more of a romantic carry, but he wanted them to be comfortable at the same time, as cute as they acted and their actions he didn't want to cross any boundaries.
As they got closer to their homes, they also reached a part of town that was dimly lit. They slowed down, Clark pulling the slightly less sober Y/N closer just to be safe.
He was glad he did, because as they tried to round a corner a man decided to test his luck and step out of the shadows with a gun pointed in their direction.
Suddenly, Y/N sobered up real quick.
Clark could see and feel the sudden jolt of cold reality for Y/N, the sobering and shock was a complete 180 from what was happening only a minute ago. Their whole mood and demeanor were almost instantly changed by the sight of the gun and they suddenly became scared and alert.
Clark instinctively pulled them tight and close to him, his body instinctually shielding them with little thought behind the action, he didn't like that his mind automatically assumed he would protect Y/N but knew it was the right thing to do regardless.
”Clark…” Y/N said, backing up slightly, gripping Clark’s arm.
Clark tried his best to calm Y/N down, by the sound of their voice he could tell they were scared and he tried his best to reassure them.
"I'm right here..."
Clark kept his grip firm around their arm while moving slightly in front of them, he couldn't stop the protective feeling towards them and the fear that took over. They were right there in front of him, the thought of anything happening to them was unthinkable for him.
“Wallet. Now. “ the man with the gun said. He was in a dark hoodie.
Y/N fumbled with their pockets. They had their wallet somewhere they swore.
Suddenly, they heard a step towards them, and the seconds slowed down into a quiet silence in time as Y/N watched the gun raise, Clark step further in front of them, and the muzzle flash.
There was a loud noise. And then silence.
“Oh my god,” Y/N breathed, horrified.
In the clearing panic, Clark didn’t seem hurt, if anything, even more angry than before.
He rushed forward, surprising the man with the gun and jerking his arm so it was pinned and he could slam the guy against the nearest wall and knock him out.
Clark's reaction came as soon as they heard the step behind them and saw the gun raise, he moved on pure instinct, all thoughts of being careful and gentle leaving his mind instantly. He moved faster than he ever had before, his anger and a sudden violent urge to protect Y/N overtaking his entire being. He slammed the man against the wall with little difficulty and knocked him out. He had become almost robotic in his movements, acting purely on instinct and adrenaline.
Y/N was shaking with panic, adrenaline, and guiltily…excitement seeing Clark move like that.
“Are…” Y/N took a shaky step forward. “Are…you okay?” they asked Clark with wide, dilated eyes. They couldn’t see a mark on him despite a deep singe on the stomach of his sweater vest. It….
The bullet should’ve gone straight into him with a mark like that…
It was straight to the gut…
How?
Clark was breathing hard, his body was trembling slightly, he was a little out of breath for now he tried his best to stay put together and not show how affected he was. The adrenaline was starting to slow down in his system and leave him feeling exhausted after the sudden jolt.
He managed to give Y/N a small smile, their concern about him was endearing to him and the realization that they must've thought the worst was a bit heartbreaking. He was relieved to be standing here with them now though, safe and unharmed, that was all that mattered.
Y/N was glad to see that Clark was unharmed. But…more importantly, confused.
“Clark…” Y/N asked with a trembling voice, “How did you do that? How are you okay?”
Clark was still breathing hard, his body was feeling weak now that the adrenaline was slowly wearing off. He decided to be honest when it came to their question.
"I'm...I'm not sure, I just...reacted and went off instinct." He replied softly, he could tell Y/N was still shaken up and he tried his best to steady his breathing and heart rate.
"Why, what did you see? Did anything happen to me?"
Y/N’s voice cracked with desperation and disbelief as they frantically stepped forward and grabbed the bottom of Clark’s vest, pulling it so he could see what they meant.
“That bullet should’ve killed you! It bounced off you like nothing!” Y/N yelped.
Clark was taken a little aback by the sudden and strong reaction from Y/N, but he couldn't blame them at all. If he was in their position he'd be freaking out also. He looked down at the vest and realized there wasn't even a scratch on the skin beneath it.
Shit.
They knew.
“Are…” Y/N behind to realize that Clark’s glasses had gotten cracked when he had shoved the attacker against the wall, and they become concerned about the glass around his eyes, they grab the broken frames and pull them away from Clark.
Suddenly, Clark becomes very familiar when he straightens up a little.
“Oh my…Oh my god you’re…” Y/N shakes, Clark panics.
Shit.
He did not want them to find out this way.
”You’re Superman!” Y/N squeaked.
Clark was startled by Y/N's realization and sudden realization. He couldn't believe they figured him out with such ease, he had been hiding his identity from them for so long, and now all of it was laid bare at this moment. He was in too deep now, Y/N already knew the truth, he was powerless to stop them from knowing that now.
Clark had thought the situation was under control, but he quickly realized it wasn't. There was no way he could spin this to make it seem like he wasn't Superman.
”I…” Y/N swallows dryly. “I have…I have so many questions.”
Y/N stepped forward, dropping the broken frames onto the snowy ground.
Clark felt dizzy. He couldn’t tell whether it was adrenaline or giddiness at Y/N being this close to him that was doing it to him.
“What’s it like?” Y/N asked, in a whispered tone.
Clark cocked his head.
Clark could feel his heart beating faster as they were now closer to him, he felt slightly overwhelmed by how close they were to him, but the words coming from their mouth were more concerning to him now.
The fact that they knew his secret, and now wanted to know more about him, Clark was panicking a little on the inside, he didn't really know what to tell them or what it would be like to talk about his identity. He could trust them, he knew that already, he just had to come to terms with the fact that they knew who he was.
Y/N’s left hand came up to reach the edge of Clark’s vest around his arm underneath his armpit, his white dress shirt was soaked and his jacket was on the ground nearby.
“I’m sorry if I’m being to forward I- I just-” Y/N stammered. “I wanted to know you before but- but now?” Y/N laughs a little breathlessly, leaning more into Clark.
“You’re incredible.”
Clark's heart started pounding faster the closer they came, Clark also felt rather hot and flushed from the heat emanating between their bodies, and the excitement from what was happening in front of him.
He smiled gently at the compliment, their admiration and affection was something so new to him, it was a lot to take in but he understood how they felt, what was he was feeling now was new and exciting for him too. He was glad they wanted to get to know him deeper and not push him away now.
“Glad this isn’t a dealbreaker for you…” he said quietly, shoulders untensing ever so slightly.
“Are you kidding?” Y/N threw their head back in disbelief. “You’re superhuman!”
The free hand that wasn’t clutching Clark’s vest came up to trace along his jaw.
“But you’re also a beautiful, and unbelievably kind man, with a lot of very simple and meaningful dreams.” Y/N said, sort of reverently.
Clark was taken aback by their praise and sudden touch, his heart was now beating out of his chest and it was taking all he had not to take advantage of the closeness and pull them into a kiss.
"You...um.." he started, but the only words that came out were those of a stumbling school kid.
"How... um..."
Clark couldn't formulate a proper word or sentence, he was in awe at what they were saying to him. They loved him, they didn't reject him. That was all that mattered to him in this moment.
Y/N just smiled at him and leaned into him. It was cold.
Snow was beginning to fall around them now.
“Clark…” Y/N started. “We should leave and get back home.” They said.
"Right, you're right..." Clark mumbled, he was also slightly annoyed that the sudden change in weather meant the night couldn't go on as long as possible.
"My apartment or yours?" He asked, he didn't really care which one they chose, he just wanted to be near them again. His mind was still racing, what had just happened was so overwhelming that it would be nice to just relax in the warmth of another person's presence as soon as possible.
Y/N’s face flushed as they realized Clark expected them to stay together for at least the rest of the night. It made them warm and fuzzy inside to think that Clark liked them.
“We can go to either, which would you prefer?” Y/N asked. They wanted to let Clark make the rest of the decisions tonight. They wanted to show that they trusted Clark still.
Clark was still slightly giddy and overwhelmed from the situation, not only was he accepted despite his secret being known, but he was also offered a choice in who's place they would stay together for the rest of tonight.
The whole situation was a first for Clark, but he didn't want to let a single moment of this opportunity go to waste. He was happy to be offered the choice, but he decided quickly which he preferred.
"I'd like to come to your place." He said softly.
“Okay,” Y/N said weakly.
It was cute to Y/N that Clark could literally take a bullet for them and still be this shy directly after. They were glad he was fine anyways.
Slowly, they led the way back to their place and made it to their front door without incident. They fumbled with their keys, small keychains dangling on their loop while they fished it out of their pocket and unlocked the front door.
It was modest, but spacious. Y/N wasn’t sure if they liked that they were probably easily readable from just their living room, let alone the rest of the apartment.
“Home sweet home,” they said, dropping their keys in a bowl by the front door and kicking off their shoes by a rack.
Clark watched as they opened the front door, once they let him inside he stepped into their home, it was impressive how they managed to fill the space with such simple details, their whole home was filled with their personality. He loved the vibe they had going on here, and for him it was refreshing to see an apartment that wasn't filled with every fancy feature a high income level could afford.
He stepped inside, removing his shoes and hanging his coat up before setting his backpack down nearby. He walked over to Y/N, not sure what to say next.
”Hi…” Y/N said quietly, as they turned around to face Clark standing closer than before, having to look up to meet his eyes.
Clark smiled slightly, his heart fluttered as their eyes locked, even if it was just a simple "hi" that was all he needed. He stepped closer to them again, leaning his body gently against theirs, he was more comfortable with their closeness now than he had been earlier.
"Hi..." he replied softly.
“What’s up?” They asked, popping the ‘p’ sound on the last word.
Their hands drifted to rest on Clark’s hips. They loved how large Clark was compared to them but they didn’t expect him to be this close to them.
Clark's heart was beating so hard and he was starting to breathe faster as their hands drifted to his hips. He had wanted to get closer to them so badly, to feel them close to him like this, and now they were right where he wanted them to be.
"Uh..." he said before the words quickly faded, he had lost most of his ability to form words and sentences at this point. All he could manage was an occasional grunt or slight noise as he leaned into their touch.
“So…” Y/N sighed. “Do you want to make some hot coco and sit down…maybe, talk about some things?” Y/N asked. There was a certain implication in his words. He wanted to know more about Clark’s real life. His Superman identity included.
Clark was almost disappointed that the invitation wasn't a direct offer to make out at this very moment, but he understood why they wanted to do something else first. He was still happy with the suggestion and was more than open to telling them the truth about himself, he was ready to trust them.
"Yeah...that sounds great!" he replied, with some more enthusiasm than before.
He loved when Y/N made the decisions and took the lead on things, it was refreshing and they seemed to do a good job of choosing an appropriate option to keep things moving forward.
Y/N shuffled away to make them both a warm cup of hot coco. Clark stood in the foyer. They were both slightly damp from the light snow. Y/N looked stunning in this lighting, low lamps and the cold city lights outside the window.
“Clark, you know you can make yourself at home, right?” Y/N teased. “If you want, you can shower and I can see if I have…anything that will fit you since your clothes are…well..” Y/N turned his head and glanced at Clark’s singed vest with a nearly bullet burned hole in its stomach. His white shirt was none the better.
Clark couldn't help but blush a little at the teasing, he was a little bit flustered in every sense with the flirting and touching now, and hearing them say they didn't mind him showering in their place sent that flustering feeling into overdrive.
"My clothes are a bit wrecked, yes." Clark replied, glancing down at the damage on his clothing.
"It could be nice to get comfortable, if I've been invited to stay the night here..." his words trailed off, but he liked where this was going.
“Sure,” Y/N tried to sound nonchalant about it despite their heart fluttering.
“The bathroom is in the hallway to the left, I’ll just knock on the door when I’ve found clothes,” Y/N mumbled the last bit. They would burn that bridge when they got to it.
Clark's chest was now feeling the heat build up as his heart raced at the implications from their words, he loved the suggestion and their subtle teasing about it. It was so unexpected, like they had his whole night planned for him, he liked it.
"That sounds good, I can shower and you can go through your closet and see what you can find, I'm sure I can fit in some of your clothes." He said, smiling at them.
”Go on then, Wonder Boy,” Y/N smiled. They were stirring milk on the stove now. Clark shuffled off in their peripherals to shower.
-
Wonder boy, he really enjoyed when they called him that, although his thoughts were of other things... Like removing his own clothes. He smiled and then started heading to the bathroom off the Hallway, not even waiting for them to confirm if it really was to his left. They were clearly paying attention and he liked that, he felt their focus on him now as he left the foyer.
During the shower, Y/N knocked on the door. The bathroom was foggy but Y/N didn’t hear a response so they turned the knob cautiously.
“Clark? I found some clothes I-I think may fit.” Y/N said, trying to speak through the warm fog. They resisted the urge to look further into anything as they placed the clothes on the counter, but they turned around and couldn’t avoid getting a fleeting glance of Clark’s shape through the silhouetting shower curtain.
Y/N blushed clear to their chest.
“I-I left them on the counter!” They yelped, heart racing, and tried to leave quickly.
Clark was just standing under the steaming hot water with one arm on the wall, he had lost track of time in there and was now only focused on his thoughts. Until he heard the knock, at which point he froze for a second. He decided to keep it simple and not say anything and let them believe he hadn't heard them.
But he did hear them, and their words made his cheeks flush even more. Hearing them call his name with such a cute tone set him on fire. He quickly exited the shower, wrapping a towel around himself before going to check the clothes.
Y/N was curled up on the couch, clothes changed and hair toweled off. They had fuzzy socks on with tiny cats printed all over them.
“Bet you're used to saving a lot of these out of trees, huh?” They said, sticking their foot out and wiggling their toes at Clark.
Two mugs sat on the coffee table in front of Y/N.
Clark stepped up the couch, looking down at the fuzzy cat socks and letting a small, playful grin form on his face as he saw their foot sticking out at him.
"That's right, I love how innocent and adorable they are, they make me want to put them in my pocket and take them home with me." He said jokingly, playing along nicely with them.
He then sat down on the couch, facing them as he took one of the mugs and took a sip.
“Is it good?” Y/N asked, grabbing their own mug.
Clark smiled around a mouthful of coco and nodded.
Y/N chuckled and took a sip of his own.
“It’s my own recipe.” Y/N said.
Clark took another sip of his cup of hot cocoa, savoring the warmth in his mouth as he swallowed the comforting flavor.
He nodded again as he swallowed. "It's delicious. I don't know what you did to make it so good, but it's absolutely phenomenal."
He took a larger sip as he continued staring at their cute fuzzy socks.
“So,” Y/N crossed their legs. “Tell me about yourself, the real you ,Clark.”
They cross their legs and sit back on the couch, facing more towards Clark.
Their eyes pierced through Clark as he drank his coco.
They fiddled with their mug nervously. The snow continued to fall outside with a soft rush.
Clark watched them shift their position to be facing him, he was enjoying this more than he'd liked to let on, he enjoyed when they wanted to know about him. And now here was a question he could answer truthfully, finally telling them the real him. He took another sip of his hot cocoa, not able to resist their piercing eyes for too long. His cheeks were still flush from the shower and the interaction they just had. He set his drink down before responding.
"You really want to know about me, huh?"
“I really like you Clark, of course I want to know about you,” Y/N said softly.
If it was possible to melt like the snow outside from a single sweet word, he would have been nothing more than a puddle now. His breath became quick and short as he smiled and sighed, this was going to be such a big step, but he wanted this, he wanted to make them happy and trust them. He looked up from their eyes to their face and smiled, his heart beating faster than before. He took a short moment to get his thoughts together before replying.
"Okay...where do you want me to start?"
“Why didn’t you tell me you were…” Y/N found themselves having trouble saying it “…Superman.” They finally said.
“And who else knows?” They asked.
He'd feared this question so much, but he would have to answer it honestly. If he wanted to make things work between them, he would have to be 100% honest about everything. The fact that they wanted to know about the "real" him meant they really did like him, and hopefully their opinion of him wouldn't change now that he was being honest with them. He breathed a sigh and took a second to prepare himself for the answer.
"Well, the only other people who know are the Justice league. And obviously, my parents." He said quietly.
”Does Louis know?” They asked. “And the Justice League? God, I forgot how terrifying your job is outside of Metropolis.”
The mention of Lois reminded him how much he cared for her, and also her reaction when she first learned his identity. He shook his head and smiled at the question about his job.
"Oh Lois knows...she knows everything about me as Clark Kent or Superman, actually, she was the one who figured it out." He said, sounding genuinely proud of her.
"And yes, the Justice League. They're basically a group of superheroes who all keep the world safe from danger and help each other out when a villain or other crisis arises."
”So this is how you get all your good information for articles, huh? Using the superhuman charisma power you have?” Y/N asked.
The truth was that Clark did not have the ability to convince most people to tell him almost anything, he didn't use his powers to get information. But it was more fun to play along, so he nodded his head as his smile turned into a mischievous grin.
"Uh yeah, exactly, everyone just wants to tell their little secrets to me. So I can hear all the juicy gossip, not that I would do anything unethical with the information though."
He said with a teasing chuckle, he liked their playful approach. He took another sip from the mug.
Clark was a terrible liar. Y/N could see right through him, but they scoffed anyways.
“Guess that’s why I find you so irresistibly charming, hm?” Y/N drawled enticingly. They moved closer to Clark on the couch.
Y/N's words sent his heart into overdrive and his mind into a daze, this was exactly what he had wanted, exactly what he had hoped to hear from them. He smiled widely as they got closer to him and he couldn't help but let his eyes trace their figure as they talked.
"Is that the reason why you find me irresistible?" He replied back in the same playful manner, not able to stop himself from leaning in just a little bit.
Y/N smiled crookedly, unabashedly. “You tell me…” they said, leaning in. Clark obviously wasn’t going to break his gentlemanly persona anymore tonight, so Y/N would have to do it for him.
Their lips brushed for a brief moment, and Y/N pulled back a hair with a noise like they’d been burned.
Then, in a surge of desperation and want, both Y/N and Clark surged forward at the same time and met in an open mouthed kiss, mugs abandoned on the coffee table.
The first brush of their lips sent a surge through him, causing him to lean forward without any thoughts or regrets. All he was thinking was how much he wanted them in his arms. Their lips soon joined and he kissed back with as much passion as he could muster, every second felt like an eternity in the best way imaginable.
Finally, it seemed like they both couldn't hold back anymore, and suddenly they were kissing furiously like no one else existed besides them. The mugs on the coffee table could wait, they never should have been there anyway.
Y/N pulled back briefly, slightly, having to use their hands on Clark’s chest to push back in his strong grip around their back that had moved there during their quick descent into madness.
“Clark-“ they breathed. “Wai- wait-” they said as Clark looked at them with eyes like a kicked puppy, kisses aiming for their mouth having ended up on the corners and sides.
Clark was not yet ready for this kiss to stop but that didn't matter to him anymore, he wanted to listen to Y/N as they pulled back. He was more than a little flustered as he looked up from their hands to face them, his heart was thumping wildly in his chest. He wanted to say something but he was having trouble gathering his thoughts.
He was so excited, and a part of him would have been happy to listen to them say something about stopping, but another part of him was worried they might say something else. He could feel the heat rising on his cheeks.
”Can we just-“ Y/N swallowed, mouth red and slightly swollen from kissing, “can we just sit here, put on a movie and kiss? I don’t want to go any further tonight. I wanna’ take it slow with you,” they pleaded.
Clark’s grasp around them became tighter. “Yes, yes, absolutely,” Clark wanted everything with them, but he could wait forever if they needed to. And honestly at heart, he didn’t want anything else tonight either. He was getting so much just from what was happening right now between them.
He loosened his grip on them slightly, as it was still a bit embarrassing for him to have acted like that, but he really couldn't help it. He had wanted it so much.
”Hold on, let me just-“ Y/N wriggled out of Clark’s grasp quickly and scurried over to the tv set, fumbling to turn on a show. A re-run of ’The Notebook’ was playing and Y/N laughed thinking about something so sappy playing behind them and their new lover making out and enjoying each other’s company less than 10 feet away.
Clark watched as Y/N’s body swayed and moved as they fiddled with the TV finally settling on something. Clark recognized it and laughed sardonically a little.
“Where were we?” Y/N said, spinning on their heels and turning to face Clark in their sweats and cat socks.
Clark's eyes couldn't help looking at all of Y/N's curves and their movements as they moved to the TV. He was enjoying all the scenery, he had to try hard not to smirk as they laughed at the TV show that was playing. The notebook was definitely a cheesy watch.
Clark laughed at the last question and got up from the sofa, moving closer to them as their bodies and faces became inches apart.
"We were kissing furiously I believe," he grinned, "and you want to keep that up?
“Yes, please-“ Y/N said, moving to straddle Clark’s lap. They halted suddenly, “Ah- but only if you want to,” they said quietly.
Clark's mouth fell open slightly as they climbed onto his lap, it was one thing to be standing near each other and kissing, but having them straddling on his lap was a whole different story. The fact that they suddenly paused and asked a question with so much hesitance had him almost melting just from the tenderness of the gesture.
He placed his hands on their hips and looked up at them with an eager smile.
"I certainly don't have any objections to that plan."
Y/N smiled.
“Good,” they ran a hand over Clark’s neck and leaned in again to kiss him sweetly while they rested on his lap.
Clark was more than happy to be in this position with Y/N, having them straddling him for a make out session was just as wonderful as he'd always imagined.
He leaned forward himself and wrapped his arms around Y/N's waist, pulling them close against him as their lips pressed together once again. His hands ran up to their back to hold them close to him, he couldn't help but let out a few moans and grunts of enjoyment as he kissed them back with equal enthusiasm.
Y/N felt Clark’s tongue brush against their lips. They opened their mouth slowly, letting Clark take the lead. The room felt nice, and they were glad they had put on an old record while Clark was in the shower.
Clark gently probed their lips with his tongue as he took the lead, he was loving every minute of this and was enjoying every second of being so close to them. Y/N's presence and their scent was intoxicating and his arms wrapped tighter around their waist as he enjoyed them more and more.
After a few moments of savoring the kiss, Clark pulled away just slightly as he was feeling a little light-headed from the heat and intimacy of it all.
Y/N felt warm for a different reason this time. They were just so content in Clark’s arms.
“Sleep in my bed tonight?” they asked with lidded eyes and a lazy smile on their face.
Clark was very grateful for this pause because he'd never felt so giddy and warm in his entire life, this had been beyond anything he could have ever thought possible.
A slight chuckle escaped him as he caught his breath, his gaze looking at Y/N with longing and amusement.
"I'd sleep on your porch if you'd let me. " He replied with a mischievous grin.
“Well then, that settles that,” Y/N laughed, a little ditsy off of the wine from dinner now that they had calmed down and a little bit from how Clark was holding them in his grip.
“Let’s go, screw the movie, I want to cuddle,” Y/N brushed a lock of hair behind Clark’s ear and kissed his forehead softly as they smiled.
With that, they both proceeded to cuddle up together on Y/Ns bed and watch the snow fall gently outside. It was warm, they were happy, and the world spun on.

A Name is a Name
In which you and Eddie have yet to find the right name for your daughter.
Tumblr media
It’s an early, quiet morning in Hawkins. The Sun just barely peeking out between the forest trees of the trailer park. The television is turned on low for back ground noise as you rest on the couch, your newborn snoozing in your arms.
You had spent time with your little bundle of joy since four thirty this morning trying to get her to fall back to sleep, not wanting to wake Eddie who was as cozy as possible in your shared bed.
You look down at your baby girl. Her little tuff of hair was closer to your own waves, but her eyes, she definitely had Eddie’s eyes. Something you found yourself entranced by every-time she cooed and looked into your own.
You were brought out of your trance by the smell of coffee wafting nearby. You turn your head slightly and see your metal head boyfriend holding out the familiar Garfield mug to you.
“Morning, beautiful.” He says, as you shift to lay the sleeping infant against your chest with one hand and used the other to except the mug.
“Thank you,” you say, the smell of caffeine instantly keeping you awake.
He moves to sit next you, placing his arm around your shoulders. “You know, I told you to wake me up when she’s up. I hate you doing all work, sweetheart.”
“I don’t mind.” You reply, taking a sip from your mug. “The campaign ran longer than usual last night, I thought you could use the rest.”
“Sweetheart, you carried her for nine months and had to push her out. The least I can do help with her diapers and put her back to bed.” He says, placing his mug down. He gestures for you to hand her over.
You set your own mug down before gently lifting her into his arms. She moves and whines before settling back down against his chest, pacifier comforting her once more.
You could help but smile at the two, your heart melting instantly. Eddie noticed and grinned back.
“What?”
“Nothing.” You replied. “You two just look so sweet.”
“Well, she’s got most of your looks so no doubt she’ll be the most beautiful kid in Hawkins.”
“I’m sure she will, but only because she has your eyes.”
“The eyes you couldn’t resist.”
“Yep, your eyes were whole part of your seduction technique.”
Eddie just cracks a smile and gives you a wink, making you giggle.
“You know it’s been a little over a week now and this beautiful child still doesn’t have a name.” He reminds you.
You sigh, placing your hand to your temple. “I know, I know. I just haven’t heard one that fits her.”
“Well let’s go over the list.”
“Eddie, I am sorry but we are not naming our child Stevie. I don’t want Harrington to think we named her after him. And Rebecca just doesn’t sound it.”
“Okay, well how about Samantha? Or Josie?”
“Josie? Absolutely not. And Samantha? Nope.”
“Well she can’t be nameless forever, sweetheart.”
“I know but nothing fits.” You had struggled during the pregnancy to find a name and eventually given up. You were hoping once she arrived it was come instantly, but now it just seemed harder.
It falls quiet and your eyes wander to the television which was playing Grease. You watched as Sandy began singing ‘Hopelessly devoted to you’. You hummed the song quietly, it had always been your favorite song from the film.
As you hummed the song softly, you stopped abruptly and looked closer at the screen. Specifically at Sandy.
“Olivia,” you say.
Eddie looks to you. “Olivia?”
“Olivia Munson?” You try out loud.
He looks down at the snoozing baby and rubs her back softly. “Olivia Munson. That sounds perfect.”
You move to scoot closer to the pair and run a hand gently to rub her soft growing hair. “Little Olivia Munson.”
As if she heard the name her self, the baby lightly coos as she snuggles closer to her father. Eddie let’s out a chuckle.
“I think she approves.” He moves gently to place a kiss on your temple.

Ex's and Oh's
I have finally finished a thing, but honestly, with the 2023 has shaped up, this is a triumph! Happy Holidays, all.
Summary: Caroline's return to New Orleans is a little less triumphant than she'd like. There is a dead body in her trunk and a magical artifact in her passenger seat, and no matter how much she'd like too, the chances of avoiding her ex-husband are astronomically small. What, with the mate bond and all, but a girl's gotta hope.
Warnings: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence; Alternate Universe - Werewolves Are Known; Minor Character Death; Magical Realism; We Make War Not Love; Post-Divorce; These Two Fools in Love; Klaus and Caroline Being Territorial; for each other; tyler is dead; kind of; Canon-Typical Violence; Violence; Murder

“You aren’t supposed to be here.”
“I know.”
Bonnie rubbed a hand down her face after she handed Caroline a cup of coffee, her expression exasperated. “Do you?”
Caroline bit down on a tired smile. “Bonnie.”
“I hope you know what you’re doing,” she huffed, her eyes narrowing. “Enzo and I won’t be able to hide this. You know he has my place watched. He knows we talk. He knows I used to visit you, on occasion. He let it slide, because to do anything else would just piss you off more.” She sat and sighed. “This he will not let slide.”
Caroline shrugged, reaching carefully for the cream. Her ribs tugged uncomfortably at the motion, and she was careful to hide it. She needed caffeine too badly to let her friend be distracted. It’d just been her and multiple five hour energies over the past twenty hours, and there were things that needed to be said. “He’ll get over it.”
A choked noise escaped from her oldest friend, her expression pinched. It was still early in New Orleans, dawn not having quite creeped over the edge of the horizon. Her walk from her parked car had been quiet, the city slow and sleepy in the early morning hours, only the most adventurous of tourists staggering home. Bonnie had clearly rolled out of bed when Caroline had woken her, her clothing rumbled and mismatched. She’d have felt bad about just showing up after so long, if the circumstances hadn’t been an emergency.
“Caroline, Klaus does not ‘get over things,’ particularly when they involve you.”
“It's been just over ten years since the divorce, Bon.” Three years, fifty-one days since she had last talked to him. Since she had been in the same state as him. If she thought about it too long, her chest would start to ache with the weight of it. She had just never been able to decide if it was grief or rage that she carried like a cloak.
“Oh, I’m aware,” she said flatly. “The entire bayou is aware, Caroline.”
A pause, as Caroline scrunched her nose. “I didn’t think the divorce would still be hot gossip. A decade is more than long enough for people to stop wagging their tongues.”
Bonnie let out a groan. “If you think the kind of gossip your divorce from Klaus Mikaelson inspired is going to die down this century, you’ve forgotten how insular this place can be.”
“Kol lives here.” Caroline shrugged, winced. “He has a new antic every week. They can’t be bored of things to talk about.”
A peculiar look crossed Bonnie’s face. “Would you like to know what the last bit of nonsense Kol got into?” She didn’t wait for a reply. “He threw a block party.”
Caroline blinked. “That’s… not unusual for Kol. I can think of at least three block parties he threw in the last year that I lived here.”
Bonnie made a noise. “I don’t think you're really appreciating the scale of this party. It spilled across six streets. He brought in margarita trucks. Two live bands. Cops were called, SWAT intervened after the second fireball, dozens of wolves ended up in jail overnight, and it took a week for Elijah to untangle the legal shenanigans.” She arched her brow. “A week. Even the post-Esther shindig didn’t explode through the city quite that way.”
And neither of them had mentioned a word of this to her. She wondered if Enzo had a video. “Where was Klaus?”
“Business trip.” Bonnie said succinctly. “He showed up an hour after the SWAT team had been brought in to deal with the drunk witches. Do you know what Kol was celebrating?”
Caroline shook her head.
“Your divorce.”
The noise that caught in Caroline’s throat was strangled, torn somewhere between a laugh and a shriek. Bonnie’s expression darkened into that of a martyr before a judge.
“There was a banner, Caroline. Kol hung it across the front of the mansion, right above the entrance, and he had someone set up two spotlights to make sure it was visible. I have no idea who made the banner, but it had to be someone out of state, because supposedly no one died. Would you like to guess what it said?”
Caroline opened and closed her mouth, but couldn’t quite find the words. What exactly would Kol have put up to celebrate her divorce?
“No?” Bonnie crossed her arms. “Too bad. It read, “Congratulations to Caroline Forbes, Ten Years and Counting.”
It was a physical strain, not to laugh at Bonnie’s unimpressed look. Her ex-husband had enough pride to keep the Titanic afloat, having their disaster of a marriage waved in his face had to have made him apocalyptic with anger.
Bonnie nodded at her expression. “Elijah had to smuggle Kol to Eastern Europe. He’s still there.”
Struggling with her composure, when she finally spoke, Caroline managed to mostly sound normal. “Kol can occasionally be likable, can’t he?”
“You would find it hilarious.” Bonnie made a face. “Enzo certainly did. But it’s made my life unnecessarily complicated. Rebekah is refusing to talk to Klaus until he brings Kol back, and Klaus threw her last messenger through the front doors. Werewolves can apparently bounce. “
Caroline looked everywhere but Bonnie’s face. She would not appreciate the laughter Caroline was struggling to hide.
“The pack has started referring to the party as The Event, and every time someone is dumb enough to mention it in Klaus’ hearing, he gets that particular look on his face.” Bonnie waved her hand. “You know the look: he’s clearly weighing just how useful you are and if dead would be the better state of your existence.”
Caroline cleared her throat, trying to look contrite. It was difficult, when all she wanted to do was lean forward and ask for more details. Ask just how much Klaus was suffering, if the wound of her leaving matched the one he’d left in her. “That sounds terrible.”

Hi! (´ε` ) Heheh maybe this story won't end with 20 chapts... The risk I took was calculated, but man, am I bad at math?
This chap has a cliffhanger but I actually have the next part ready so is safe to wait until next monday!
Get out of my way! 🌈
And that’s how you’ve been using the Newspaper club for your own benefit. The routine was pretty simple but exhausting, every day you woke up as early as possible to search for any information that could be used against the Little D.’s. Sometimes you would find something, you would follow the clue until a dead end was met. Those days weren’t completely useless, at least you had learned a few tricks. Books, old scrolls and even antique boards surrounded you day and night. You were completely absorbed and stupidly oblivious to the passage of time and curious eyes.
To begin with, it was difficult to differentiate mornings, afternoons and nights, but now? All days were blurred into something unspecific, your days divided into useful information and effective weapons or useless information and the ever present possibility of a tragic ending.
The Little D.’s annoyed you all the time, their voices always trying to rile you up. Always trying to seduce you to succumb to lust and sloth and ultimately losing the battle. However, the constant chatter and loud work at the club was your shield, so strong and efficient that you had been reduced to a human hermit who barely speaks and lives on caffeine and Beelzebub’s snacks.
“Mc, are you listening?” Mephistopheles repeated for the third time. “Yes. I heard you loud and clear. Would you please be kind enough to stop yelling in my ear?” You heard distant laughter. The demons had grown fond of your presence and the idle bickering between you and the former president of the club. “I would if you would consider listening to me!”
“Well, today’s your lucky day! What can I do for you?” Immediately after you finished talking, an elegantly decorated yet formal folder landed on your already messy desk. “What is this?”
Mephistopheles cleared his throat. He inspected his cane with rehearsed interest as he spoke. “We need to talk. A serious talk about… the mess you had brought upon this club and how you’re going to fix it.” You were silent for a few minutes, a foolish “Eh?” was your only response.
“Follow me please.” Upon entering Mephisto’s office and leaving the publicity of the previous room you felt more at ease to talk. The demon took the large black curtain that covers a gigantic window that overlooks the RAD patio and removed it with a theatrical movement. “Look!”
Nothing. You couldn’t see a single thing, but that wasn’t rare in the Devildom where the sun never comes out. “Yes, the sky is as black as ever, beautiful. So?” You questioned. Mephisto’s eyes widened purposefully, his head bowed to the side, urging you to take a closer look. You narrowed your eyes, walking closer too, slowly noticing that what you previously thought was the sky was far from being it.
Those were… feathers. A little eye opened, followed by another, and then dozens. Crows. All pushing each other uncomfortably together and pressing themselves to the window. “What the actual hell?” You looked at Mephisto in horror. “Why?”
He crossed his arms, looking the scene as if he were already used to it. “You know whose familiars are these, don’t you?”
“I know but why would he do this?” You couldn’t stop looking at the poor horde. “He’s not doing it on purpose, at least that’s what I think. They are simply reacting to Mammon’s emotions. It’s very disturbing if you ask me.”
Mephisto had seen Mammon’s downfall. First, he acted surprisingly mature, showing control and calm. But the more days passed, the more absorbed you became in who knows what, the more you distanced yourself from them, the less the demon was able to keep it together. Constantly seeking you and more often than not facing a refusal, even Mephisto felt bad for the avatar of greed.
He sat in a little sofa and you sat in front of him, still unable to tear your eyes away from the window. That was until you noticed something was remarkably different from all the furniture in the room. The seat you had taken were pink with floral embroidery. “I didn’t remember your office to be this… romantic?” Mephisto was serving a cup of tea, and even though you had a coffee just some minutes ago, you didn’t complain. It must be something nobles do, the need to drink tea while discussing important things. “You see, Mc, this furniture was a gift from Asmodeus. He told me that you would get sick if everything was plain and gray.”
You surveyed the room, quickly noticing that Mephisto’s office had been taken over by pastel colors, from the huge pink wooden clock to the very striking orange coat rack. Your eyes fell on the set of expensive porcelain. “This tea and cake are from Barbatos. The new tiny fridge outside is from Beelzebub, although you only eat the energy bars, everyone else here is happy to help you with the rest.” You looked around, tons of cushions were piled up in different places. “Belphegor.” Mephisto answered with a sigh that you were sure was full of resignation. “Except the cat shaped ones, those are Satan’s.”
You were confused, but Mephistopheles continued, ignoring the growing frown on your forehead. “All of the members of our club are pretty happy, comfortable and well fed thanks to you.”
“I haven’t done anything special. I’m just here.” You said. “That’s enough for the brothers.” Mephisto handed you a cup of tea, he was happy, too much for your liking. “Lucifer gave us twice the budget from last month too.”
“Why? He used to complain about this club quite often.” The smell of the beverage in your hands reached your nose, it was your favorite. You looked at it as if it could explain things better than the demon who exuded smugness. “He gave us the paper you’ve been asking for, even if it’s more expensive, now the newspaper looks better.”
“I haven’t asked for any particular type of paper.” You said and Mephisto nodded enthusiastically. “No?” “I would remember.” You narrowed your eyes while Mephistopheles smelled his tea, closing his eyes and sipping from the tiny cup. “Does it really matter?” The door to Mephisto’s office opened and a demon rushed over to give him a piece of paper, leaving the room as fast as he entered. He read it in no more than a minute, if the smile was any indication, he was satisfied. “Levi agreed to review video games for us. He used to say he was too busy to take another responsibility, but he’ll do it if it helps you.”
“Why would it help me?” you put the cup on the little table with no delicacy, surprisingly it didn’t break. “Honestly? No clue, but he was desperate to help you and the newspaper needed a new column.” Mephistopheles shrugged, not even batting an eye at your outburst of anger.
Just how busy have you been to not notice their attempts to make amends. Your eyes traveled to the curtain again, if you sharpen your ears you can even hear the low chirps of the crows outside. When was the last time that you heard about the brothers? When was the last time you hang out together? You recalled Belphegor’s sad eyes in that brief dream. All your interactions with them had been defined by its short duration and superficial treatment. Perhaps your relationship with them was worse than you had thought, and all this obsession with the Little D.’s was the root of the problem.
Maybe you should follow Barbatos’s advice and confess.
“The new exchange student has been busy too. She’s always with one of the brothers.” Mephisto tried to address the topic downplaying it. “Naturally.” You answered. It is logical, she’s still the NEW exchange student, a human surrounded by demons. A witch, you remembered Mammon’s words. He had called her a witch, but you could remember that there was affection in those words.
“Last time I saw her she was dancing in The Fall with Lucifer. They looked good together.” If looks could kill, Mephistopheles would be drowning in that fancy tea. He was provoking you on purpose.
“Mephistopheles. What do you want?” you spited.
You could feel the strings of smoke tightening your soul, making his way through your nostrils, filling your lungs and taking hold of your throat. How can they be so worried about you if they keep flying around her like flies? You were trying to fight the Little D.’s stupid curse while they enjoy their time together? So while you had been working your ass off to go back to them as soon as possible, they just decided to replace you again.
You took the cup in your hands, your grip tightening around it. “I heard Lord Diavolo wanted her to move into the castle.” Mephisto looked at you intently, he was sure your aura was growing dark around you. “Rumors said he begged.” Mephistopheles found incredibly difficult to say those words, it was risible to think that Lord Diavolo would even think of doing that for a mere human, but there was something mesmerizing about the way your eyes grew cold.
“Liars. All of them.” What if you’ve been busy? Couldn’t they wait as they said they would? “I would find it impossible if not for the fact that she forged a pact with Satan.” You crushed the cup with your hands. You snapped out of the trance when you heard a loud, high-pitched laugh right next to your ear. A Little D. with orange eyes vanished in front of you and was replaced by the worried expression of Mephistopheles.
“What exactly do you think you are doing?! That’s hot!” He hurried to your side, quickly guiding you to the bathroom attached to the office. “Are you okay?! How much heat can a human endure?” He asked, covering your hands with a wet cloth. “She made a pact with Satan?!”
“What am I doing?? What are YOU doing?!” You didn’t give Mephisto a chance to answer your previous question, removing your hands from his and tossing the cloth at him. “Why are you telling me all of this!?”
“Because I don’t know what’s happening!” He tried to keep his voice low but giving the perfect amount of emphasis. “It is none of your business!” You replied, low voice too, suddenly remembering where you were. “It is if it affects Lord Diavolo!” Mephisto handed you the cloth again, his eyes never leaving yours. “But he hasn’t asked for your help, has he?”
Mephistopheles felt a familiar ache that was too close to that certain wound he had buried deep inside his soul. As if he had winced you retreated, guilt present in the way you crossed your arms and averted his gaze.
Mephisto left the room with nothing more than a small snarl. You sat on the toilet, too afraid to go out and discover that the one demon that had offered you help had changed his mind. You heard the door open with zero delicacy, and Mephistopheles appeared holding a small box that seemed to be a first aid kit. He guided you to sit where you were before, on that pink and flashy couch. He then took an ointment you had never seen before and applied it with so much softness that you barely felt it. “This is not from the human world.” You noticed, feeling relief all too quickly.
“No. I asked the angel for it, in case that something like this would happen. You didn’t think that I would not be prepared for everything, right?” He said, managing to sound both offended and somehow unbothered. “Thank you, Mephisto.”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you so angry. You’re right, Diav- I mean, Lord Diavolo hasn’t asked me for help.” He continued to tend your hands. “I’m not doing this just for him.” His confession surprised you, to be honest he looked a little surprised too, as if he had discovered something. A small blush crept to his face, but it dissolved quickly enough for you to ponder if it had been real.
“I don’t know what is troubling you or why you keep reading those… twisted things,” he looked at your hands, maybe reproaching himself. “but I wanted to make sure.”
“Make sure of what?” you murmured. “I know what is like to be replaced, Mc, and I can assure you, they could never replace you.” The violet hair of Mephisto glowed in the white light of the hanging lamp above you. The nobleman shook his head fervently. “I know what you’re feeling. Someone who comes out of nowhere and takes what was supposed to be yours. She seems to be perfect in everything, nothing you do is enough compared to her” You saw a spark of indignation in those green eyes, a spark that wanted to start a fire.
“I know it hurts when you think he’s better than you at something you were specifically created for.” You were at a loss for words, or rather, the strength of Mephisto’s feelings kept stealing them. The demon walked through the room aimlessly, speaking vigorously to the inanimate objects around. “Everything happens very fast and, when you least expect it, he has taken your place. The worst is that after some time, it suits him so perfectly that you begin to wonder if you ever had the right to call it yours.” Mephisto stopped and breathed again.
Although you knew Mephisto was speaking of his own painful heartbreak, you couldn’t help but imagine that fateful scenario. Sc slow dancing with Lucifer, her head resting on his shoulder and on his face, the soft smile he reserved just for you. Mammon hugging her and showing her off as he used to do with you. Sc sleeping between Beel and Belphie, feeling the warmth of their arms and calmly listening to the lullaby of their heartbeats. You could imagine Asmo and Sc, modeling for each other ridiculous outfits they had no intention of buying. Sc lying in Satan’s chest, reading the demon’s favorite book, hearing his charming laugh in her ear and Levi, you could hear him call her “my Henry.” As if you never existed to begin with.
A single tear slid down your face. When he met your eyes, his eyes widened, although it was almost imperceptible. He cleared his throat and fixed his hair, trying to act calmer than he felt. “But please, human. You’re acting like a fool. I know you can’t see their pitiful eyes since you keep your head buried in those books, but you only need one look to see how miserable they are.”
“All these things around us! All these are proof of their devotion to you, don’t you agree?” Mephisto insisted but your attention was in his eyes, how much pain was underneath? It seemed that you hadn’t contemplated them before, and now you couldn’t take your eyes off them.
Because maybe he couldn’t help but made foolish scenarios too. Perhaps he used to picture himself at Diavolo’s side, not as the vice president of the newspaper club but as the vice president of the student council. Surely, he had expected Diavolo to choose, and the prince did choose.
“Whatever, I shouldn’t be saying this. I,” He looked around the office, spoting the elegant folder from earlier. His hands were shaking, although you had to be keen to notice it. “I wanted to ask your help to get Lord Diavolo’s approval for this proposal.” He handed you the folder, eager to change the topic.
“He didn’t replace you.” You said, taking it but completely ignoring its contents.
“What? No I,” He began speaking but perhaps something in the way you looked at him showed him how useless was to keep the act. He had been too obvious letting his heart speak, wearing it on his sleeve. “You may be right. I didn’t have a place to begin with.” Mephistopheles said “You had and still have a place.”
“Yes, I’m Mephistopheles, the vice president of the newspaper club.” He smiled, or at least his mouth tried to. “Mephistopheles, heart isn’t an ownership.” You took one of the arms of the demon, moving closer to him. “Hearts are big enough to allow many inside. For example, you have a special place in mine.”
Mephistopheles would have laugh of your naive words if he hadn’t seen an open door in your eyes. He focused in the white glint that escaped from your eyes, he moved closer, ignoring the tension in your body and the growing nervousness. Your soul was like a precious gem, so white, beautiful and stained… a misty smoke that clouded it. “Mephisto?” You placed a hand on his chest, his nose was already touching yours but his eyes were glued to your pupils.
Mephisto could finally breath in peace, knowing exactly what was happening and why everyone was tense. Your soul was in the middle of a war, that much was clear.
However, in his opinion the brothers were exaggerating, after all you were winning. “How competent, human.” He smiled. “You’re a tough one.” He laughed, his minty breath emphasizing his closeness.
The sudden sound of someone slamming the door open, took your attention away. Neither Mephisto or you moved, instead your heads turned to see the person behind the action. Mephisto was ready to scold them until a pair of well known golden eyes looked at him.
“Am I interrupting something?” Lord Diavolo’s voice had an unsual severity as his eyes alternated between Mephisto and you.

description: Javi offers to walk you home when you get stood up on a date.
Word count: 1.4k
trigger warnings: hickeys, mention of a gun, walking home alone, jealousy?
main masterlist
Author’s note: As much as I love doing these singular prompts I keep getting attached to the characters I'm writing and wanting to write fully fledged fits which I don't have time to do. Love the x dea!Reader trope as we all know.
Tumblr media
It had all started two weeks ago when you bustled into the office with a hickey on your neck. He’d had a subtle crush on you for the past few months, though he had tried to put it down to lust, but inside Peña knew he was screwed. You were a beautiful woman, smart and witty, amazing at catching narcos. You were possibly the best in the department, at least that’s what it said according to the leaderboard you kept of the number of arrests made this month.
You were in the lead with fifteen, Javi running in close second with thirteen and Steve falling behind at nine. Though in his defence, Carrillo had been grilling him with paperwork to fill out so he didn’t have as much of a chance in the field as the two of you did. But it was clear that when you walked into the office, hair messed and a small purple splotch on your collarbone that your winning total was not the source of your delight.
Sitting at your desk and shoving your handbag under your chair, you moved to make a start on your own paperwork. You felt two sets of eyes burning into your skull, your face flicking up to the offending agents with pride.
“Oh, good morning gentlemen,” Came your smug voice, as if they had been an afterthought in your charm this morning.
“Morning,” Steve murmured, sitting upright in his chair to get a look at your desk, “Where’s your coffee?”
You were a creature of habit, and after working closely for nearly a year with the two men in your unit, they grew to understand that every single morning you brought the same coffee flask, in the same handbag, which you brought to your lips with the same shade of lipstick almost immediately upon entering the building. But today was different, off. Your peachy pink lipstick was nowhere to be seen, a deeper red painted on in its place. And the beverage was missing too.
Javi’s eyes perked up at the distinction in your demeanour, your face going hot at the fact they had known you just that bit too well for you to get away with your little secret.
“Just didn’t fancy it this morning,” You responded, trying to bury your nose into your work. Steve’s pen clattered to his desk in shock. That was certainty new. A job like this meant you had to stuff yourself full to the brim with caffeine if you were to make it through the day.
“No, no,” Javi said suspiciously, “You look different. You only wear red lipstick when we’re going out,” Your eyes shot to his at the remark. An odd warmth spread in your chest when you realised he took notice of your little habits and you hid a scarlet smile at his words.
“Yeah, and your coffee cup is gone because you couldn’t make it the way you like it this morning. Maybe you weren’t home?” Steve finished, raising his eyebrows in an accusation.
You puffed a breath, leaning back in your chair at their interrogation, “Save the questions for the criminals, boys,” They simply stared at you, waiting for an answer. You knew you weren’t wriggling out of this one. “Okay, fine. I wasn’t home last night. I’ve started seeing someone,” You confessed.
“Yeah, we gathered. That hickey on your neck says it all,” Javi teased, though inside he was bitter at the fact he had missed his chance with you. “So when can we meet him?”
Obviously not because Javi wanted to size the guy up or anything. Obviously.
Not even three days later, Javi had practically forced you to arrange a double (triple) date with your recent interest.
All you had told them was that his name was Mateo and that he was just so dreamy. He worked at the coffee shop you stopped off on the way home from work (again, getting your fill of caffeine for your guaranteed share of paperwork waiting for you at home). He had been the one to make the move on you, take you out for drinks, kiss you first on his old sofa in the dead of night.
So as the five of you sat in the bar, two drinks down, it made no sense in anyone’s eyes why you were sitting alone.
Steve of course had brought Connie, Javi had brought some girl he owed a second date, Eliza you think her name was. Then there was you.
Mateo was supposed to be here an hour ago, you thought as you wrung your hands in nerves. The conversation flowed nicely as it always did between the three of you. Connie was by far the nicest woman you had ever known, and boy did she give Steve a run for his money with her drink tolerance. And Eliza was nice. She was quiet though, too interested in kissing Javi’s earlobe as he blushed and tried distracting her with something else whether it be shots or a less physical form of affection to keep her away.
She was nice, they all were. But god did you feel like an idiot.
You chugged the remnants of your beer, still glancing at the door in case he made an appearance despite being diabolically late. When there was still no sight of him for a moment, you sighed and stood up from the table. “I’m gonna head home, it’s getting late-”
“You’re leaving?” Connie said, her blue eyes turning sad as she grabbed your wrist kindly, “He still might show up, please don’t go,”
“It’s getting late, I think I’m just going to go home. I have a huge report due for Carrillo by Monday anyway-” You brushed off politely, hating the look of pity everyone sent your way. You were obviously lying, anyone could see you were simply trying to save face over the fact your date had stood you up.
“Y/n, please just wait up, one of us will walk you home,” Steve tried to interject, but you were too fast, already slipping your coat on and stepping away from the table.
“No, it’s fine really. I’m a big girl, I have my badge and gun on me anyway,” You promised, a meek smile clearly masking the embarrassment you felt.
You turned on your heel to head out the door, giving the quartet a small nod goodnight as you left. God, this was pathetic. A woman of your grown age getting stood up on a date still, as if you were a stupid teen chasing an even more childish boy. You willed yourself not to cry out of sheer embarrassment, though your eyes stung with hatred and unshed tears anyway.
That is until you heard your name being called behind you.
“Wait!” You spun around to see Javi speeding to catch up with you, his date left at the table with a new cocktail in her hand and a slightly sour looking face. “Let me take you home,”
“Javier, you’re on a date. I can walk home alone, I’m fine. I don’t need everyone fawning over me-” You started but was cut off when he overtook you and held the door open for you to leave. “Javi!”
“Steve and Connie are taking Eliza home. Come on,” He held his hand out to you leaving no room for an argument. The warmth you felt in the office returned when you saw the way he looked at you, a mixture of pity, pleading and concern in those doe, brown eyes. All for you. “I can’t leave my best girl to walk home alone, can I?”
Because you knew he would do anything for you. The same way he would for Steve, or anyone else in the department. But something about the way he held his hand out, kind and inviting, as if he needed to take you home just as badly as you needed a shoulder to cry on, made your heart flutter like Mateo and his dreamy pick up lines never had.
You took his hand gently, and he began walking the two of you through the cold Medellin night air, pulling you close with a sigh, “Jackass doesn’t know what he’s missing,”

Five: I'll Call You Sunshine
Charles Leclerc x Nova Teller (OC)
Till The Wheels Fall Off Masterlist
Small town meets the fast lane. What happens when two souls meet? Will it end in happiness or will they both crash and burn?
As always reblogs and feedback is highly appreciated ❤️ if you want tagging in future parts let me know ❤️
Tumblr media
So far the night had gone okay, I had managed to keep myself busy, meaning the only interaction I had with Charles was when Pops brought him over to the bar. Every time I passed Jax he cocked his brow, giving me a look which told me to go talk to him, each time I either rolled my eyes or slyly gave him the bird. Crouching down I swiped another energy drink from the fridge, I was so exhausted I needed all the help I could get right now.
Caffeine was my best friend.
“How many you had now?” Jax asked, leaning across the bar, nodding at the freshly opened can in my hand.
“This is my first one,” I grinned, hoping that he couldn’t see through my lie but the moment the words left my lips the expression on my brother’s face changed telling me he wasn’t going to accept my answer, especially when he dropped his gaze down to the trash can where three more empty cans laid. I knew I wasn’t getting out of this. “Fine, this is my fourth,” I mumbled, refusing to make eye contact with him, like a child not wanting to get scolded.
No words left his mouth, within seconds he jumped over the bar, prising the can out of my hand. “Squirt, we have talked about this,” Jax sighed, once again I could hear the guilt in his voice, he knew the reason I pumped myself full of caffeine. “The last thing I need is for you to wind up in hospital from exhaustion or heart palpitations.”
“What am I meant to do, Jax?” I sighed, running my hand over my face. “We don’t have enough staff, especially at the cafe.”
“What aren’t you telling me?”
“Ima quit this morning,” I scoffed, although I did have a slight smirk on my face. Ima was shit at her job, never wearing suitable clothes, always fucking up orders and I was only days away from firing her scrawny ass. But she beat me to it, in turn taking a job off my extremely full plate, even if it meant adding a million more in return. “So it’s the no sleep club for me,” I paused, meeting the blue eyes of my brother,“for at least the foreseeable future.”
“Nope, not happening,” Jax hummed, placing the open can on the counter, “let me speak to Nero okay, he has management experience so maybe he can take some of the pressure off either here or at the cafe,” he wrapped his arm around my shoulder, leaning in and pressing a kiss against the top of my head. “For now you are off the clock, I will take over the rest of the night, you go join Pops and Elenor for a little bit but then you need to go home and get some sleep, okay.”
Shifting my gaze over to Pops’ booth, I saw Charles and Pierre were still chilling with him and Elenor. I could have died of embarrassment, as Charles looked up causing our gazes to intertwine. I quickly found myself getting lost in his beautiful eyes, feeling my heart practically skip a beat with how he was smirking at me right now. Taking a deep breath I somehow managed to convince myself it was just the caffeine causing the spike in my heart rate not the fact I was having a moment with Charles Leclerc.
“I can’t,” I mumbled, finally breaking the eye contact, “I already made a fool of myself yesterday.”
“Well, looks like you don’t have to, he is coming over here,” Jax smirked, pushing me out of the bar. “Nova, this is a small town, you won’t be able to avoid him so as your older, smarter, better looking brother I’m demanding you put your big girl pants on and just talk to him.”
Right now all I wanted to do was strangle my sibling, he had thrown me into the deep end without a life ring. I was not ready to deal with this. However, time was definitely not on my side as before I knew it Charles slid onto the bar stool next to me.
“Jax, can I get another beer please man?” Charles nodded at my brother, “and whatever the lovely lady is having.”
“Oh, this lovely lady is on water for the rest of the night,” Jax laughed but quickly changed his expression, shooting me a stern look as he grabbed the open can of energy drink, taking a large sip of the liquid, “somebody has had far too much caffeine today.”
“I am still here, asshole,” I pouted, glaring at him. He knew what I was doing, I was trying to put off having the conversation as long as possible. My stomach was in knots, my palms were sweating and my heart rate wasn’t coming down, it wasn’t everyday I had a famous racing driver approach me to talk. Taking a deep breath, I tried to steady my heart beat, although nothing was working. Once again I found myself blaming the amount of caffeine I had in such a short space of time, although I wasn’t going to admit that to anyone. I was petrified Charles would notice how nervous I was, but judging at the fact he was still chatting with Jax, I was in the clear right now.
“So, I never got your name,” Charles smiled, finally turning to me.
“Because I never told you,” I shrugged, I could pretend that I didn’t know who he was, right? Even though I did burst into the bar yesterday reciting the commentary from his maiden win at Monza.
“Si tu ne me dis pas ton nom, je t'appellerai Rayon de soleil. If you don't tell me your name, I'll call you Sunshine,” he said smoothly, scooting on the stool to move closer to me, my heart was moments away from exploding when his knee rested against mine.
“Appelez-moi comme vous voulez, mais je pense que vous connaissez déjà mon nom. Call me whatever you like, but I think you already know my name,” I smirked, judging by the look on his face he was not expecting me to respond to him in fluent French.
“Since when did you speak French?” Jax questioned, barging into the conversation.
“I don’t tell you everything, ya know,” I scoffed, poking my tongue out at him. “Don’t you have work to do, like I don’t know, maybe run the bar or something?” I scolded, raising my brow at him whilst silently telling him to fuck off. Thankfully he got the hint and wandered off into the kitchen. “Sorry about him, he can be a right pain in my ass at times,” I said turning back to Charles.
“Boyfriend?” he asked.
The moment the one word left his perfect lips I choked on my water, spraying the bar with liquid. I felt my entire body heat up from embarrassment as I reached over grabbing some napkins to not only dry my face but the counter as well. Once I had caught my breath back I looked up at Charles. “Nah, my older annoying brother.”
“Good to know,” Charles hummed, slowly nodding his head before pulling the beer bottle to his lips. “So, the picture behind the bar, is that you daughter?” he asked.
“My niece,” I smiled, momentarily forgetting what picture he was on about, scanning the bar I saw the photo he mentioned, mentally I cursed myself for not taking it down the second I knew he was here. “She is an absolute angel, however she has Teller blood running strong through her veins.”
“I’m gonna assume that’s not a good thing.” Charles laughed.
“Urm, depends who you ask really,” I smirked, leaning forward against the bar. I couldn’t help myself as I pulled my bottom lip between my teeth, looking up at the Monégasque driver. I knew this was going to be a dangerous game to play, flirting with someone I couldn't have but it was like a switch had flipped in my brain from wanting to avoid him to now thinking fuck it whats some harmless flirting. Before either of us could say anything I realized that Pops had appeared between me and Charles. I couldn’t be annoyed at him because it had been nearly a week since JT has felt himself.
“How is my favorite girl doing?” Pops asked, resting his hand over mine.
“I’m good Pops,” I smiled, turning my hand over softly, squeezing in return. “You calling it a night?”
“Yeah, I think I should. Elenor has fallen asleep against Pierre so the least I can do is save him from the drool monster,” he chuckled, placing his coffee mug on the bar.
Turning my gaze to the corner booth, I couldn’t help but laugh at the sight, Elenor had fully passed out with her head resting against Pierre’s arm, he was being so good with it all by making sure he didn’t let her head slip from his bicep whilst he held his phone in the other hand, more than likely scrolling on Instagram.
“You aren’t driving home are you?” I asked, with a hint of worry in my voice.
“My sweet girl, you worry too much,” he responded before pressing a kiss to the top of my head, “I’m not driving, Chibs is gonna give us a ride back.”
“Okay, Pops,” I smiled up at him, “Jax is in the kitchen with Bobby.”
Taking a deep breath, I watched him make his way through the bar and into the staff only hallway. For a second I forgot I had company until Charles placed his hand over mine, squeezing lightly causing sparks to erupt over my whole body.
At that moment I knew I was screwed, I hadn’t felt sparks like this for years, the last time I had feelings like this I put my whole heart into it and ended up getting burnt. To the point where I had built thick indestructible walls around my heart in order to protect myself. I also vowed never to fall for someone like that again but one touch from Charles and I knew I was gonna end up breaking my number one rule.
“Thank you,” I whispered, finally looking up at him.
“What for, Sunshine?” he asked, with a slightly puzzled look on his face.
“I know you sat with JT last night and honestly I haven't seen him that happy for a little while now,” I sighed, feeling tears starting to build in my eyes, “I’m not gonna go into it but he is having some health problems at the minute. The fact that you made him smile again is something that means so much to not only me but to Jax as well,” I said softly, trying my hardest to keep these tears at bay, “I don’t know if I could ever repay you for that.”
“I know I only met him last night but he seems like a good guy, he definitely knows how to make you laugh,” Charles hummed, taking a sip of his beer. I noticed his hand was still covering mine, although I couldn’t bring myself to pull away. I hadn’t had this sort of intimate contact with someone in years and honestly it felt amazing. “I can think of a way you can repay me.”
“Oh, how’s that, Mister?” I hummed, looking up through my damp lashes, whilst cocking my brow at him.
“Come to dinner with me.”
Once again I nearly choked, it took my brain a moment to catch up and realized that he had basically asked me out on a date, “Urm,” I mumbled, finally pulling my hand away from his. What the hell was going on? This started as some harmless flirting from newly found confidence I had gained, but now it had turned into a proposal of an actual date. I felt my heart practically stop as panic filled my body, I had no idea how I was going to be able to keep up the facade of not knowing who he was, especially if I went on a date with him. “I don’t know if I can, I run two businesses, I’m the main carer for Pops and with helping Jax organize the fundraiser next week there aren't enough hours in the day. The only reason I'm on this side of the bar and not behind it is because Jax forced me to take the night off,” taking a deep breath, I rested my hand on Charles’ shoulder before half smiling at him, “sorry.”
I needed to get away from this situation.
Had I really just turned down Charles Leclerc?
In my head I knew it was the right thing to do, even though my heart was currently screaming at me for declining his offer. I couldn’t put myself in a situation where it would only end in my heart broken and me once again crushed.
I needed to protect myself, even if the price to pay was being alone for the rest of my life, that was a risk I was willing to take.

Fate is Definitely Drunk
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader
Warnings: fluff-ish, very meet cute if meet cute was more panicked and frozen in shock, cursing b/c I can’t write without cursing apparently
Word Count: 1,050
Summary: Everyone has the words their soulmate will first say to them written on their skin somewhere. You have the most average words in the known universe so you assume you’ll have a soulmate that matches that. Fate ain’t happy you underestimated her.
Tumblr media
A/N: This is part of my marvel soulmate series. I did a whole thing. Sort of.
Soul marks were a funny thing. Mysterious. Unpredictable. Seemingly random. Science tried to understand it, but no matter how many studies they pushed out there never seemed to be a concrete answer. Some people referred to the marks as, ‘Scrawls of Fate’. That’s what it had to be, right? Fate pulling the strings, dragging people together, and creating happy endings or whatever.
You weren’t bitter.
And yes, that’s probably what bitter people said, but you were not bitter.
Not more than the average human at least.
You’ve seen dream couples meet because of the words on their skin. You had a friend in elementary school find her soulmate in the first grade. Yes, they got stuck with words said by their toddler selves, but they were stupid happy. You had just attended their wedding six months ago. It was sickeningly beautiful. Most of the couples you’ve seen get strung together were doing pretty well. Nothing special or crazy unique, but they were content.
That was the goal, right?
To be content.
Anything above that was just extra, and there was nothing wrong with extra, but if you walked around thinking the fates owed you extra then of course you’d be disappointed. That was your view of it at least. Even as a kid you never really got worked up over your words. They were simple, average, and you wouldn’t be surprised if a handful of other people in the world had the exact same mark as you coincidentally.
‘Terrible weather, huh?’
Your soul mark was literally the epitome of small talk. You’ve seen a lot worse though. A friend in high school had the words, ‘Fucking fish’ on their arm. You were still very curious as to how that would’ve come up in conversation. Maybe you needed to reach out to him later just to see if he had met his soulmate yet.
The sound of your name brought your eyes up from the table in surprise. The gaze of all the other brand-new interns were zoned in on you, and the only reason you remembered the initial ice-breaker question was because it had put you off on the tangent your brain got stuck on.
“Nope.” You shook your head quickly and offered the group a smile that you hoped was less awkward and more ‘happy to be here’, “No significant other at the moment.”
The group leader, your new boss, was a chirpy brunette named Janice who was living her best life right now. Her smile filled her entire face and she seemed to radiate sunshine. Which was cool for her, but you couldn’t imagine being that excited on a Monday morning unless you were on something.
“I was hoping Tim would be back by now.” Janice hummed, drumming her nails on the table, “I was gonna have him pick you guys up some coffee. Nothing like a caffeine boost before we move onto the program training.”
You raised a hand, “I’ll go grab us some coffee.”
“You will?” Janice beamed. “You’re a saint. Just tell the barista that I sent you.”
The group gave you their orders, that you jotted down into your phone, then you hurried out of the boardroom with a sigh of relief. It was nice to finally stretch your legs after being stuck in there for the last couple hours. Honestly, you were so thankful to have this job. You were just a low-level grunt working the mail room and answering phones, but you were a low-level grunt at Stark Industries. Everybody said that’d look fantastic on your resume and since you had no real future plans right now it seemed like a safe bet.
The coffee stand was on the first floor in the lobby and was packed. It took a good ten minutes just to get to the front of the line, but you weren’t in any kind of rush. You ordered the coffees then wandered off to the side to wait for them to be made. Your eyes drifted to the large lobby windows that were currently being pelted with rain. You loved storms. It was funny that rainy days brought you such comfort, but you always figured it tied into your soul mark. You were never actively hoping for anything, but maybe your subconscious just knew this would be the setting you’d find the one in.
The barista called out your name and you turned away from the view. You grabbed the drink carrier that had five cups balanced on it. Before going upstairs, you drifted a little closer to the front doors and paused for just another second to stare outside. The board room you were stuck in had no windows at all, and only this close to the door could you smell and hear the rain.
Someone stopped a couple steps to your left and you couldn’t help but look over at them as they undid the clasp holding their umbrella closed. It took two seconds for you to realize that the person standing beside you with their umbrella was Captain America. Your eyes widened in shock. He always looked so big and in charge on the news, and in person he was legitimately intimidating. Tall stature, broad shoulders, and God, he was good looking. As in, who the hell had the right to look so good so casually??
Captain America glanced at you, his blue eyes meeting your gaze, and though your brain screamed at you to look away and not stare like a frozen creeper, you couldn’t move a muscle. You just stood there looking like the idiot you felt like. He politely gave you a tiny nod and warm smile. Captain America motioned to the door, “Terrible weather, huh?”
You felt the words on your shoulder tingle and your jaw fell loose in disbelief. Captain America just gave you one more nod before walking to the door. He opened his umbrella and you lost sight of him out in the storm amongst all the other walking umbrellas.
Had he just…?
Had you just…?
The drink carrier slipped from your hands and five full cups of coffee hit the tiled floor causing a disaster at your feet. You couldn’t even register that people were looking at you or that the hot coffee had burned your through your pants’ leg or that you were now standing in a pool of caffeine.
You gasped, “Oh, fuck me.”

Daily Check In - September 28th, 2023 🎀
did not do much today by my standards but I’m still recovering from this cold plus my allergies are acting up so I’ve been in bed a lot of today. I did accomplish some things tho so it was not a fully unproductive day for me!
🩷 What I Ate Today -
Breakfast - boiled chicken potstickers, hash browns with ketchup, and a coffee
Lunch - bowl of spaghetti with two pieces of buttered bread
Dinner - two slices of dominoes handmade pan pepperoni pizza and three slices of cheese bread
Extra - three more cups of coffee and not near enough water, half a green smoothie made with frozen fruits, spinach, and almond milk
I have not been eating the best recently and I know that, but I think that’s due to my hormones being messed up at the moment, my current sickness, my extreme fatigue and exhaustion, and a lack of physical activity in my life. However, I decided I’m going to try to go to the gym and get on the treadmill (maybe do some strength training if I’m feeling confident enough) at my university activity center at least three days a week so that way I can start getting some of my energy back and gain some more discipline and control in my life. I’m hoping I get to the point where I can be a runner again, I miss my 8 minute mile time, my running playlist, and how free I felt when I’d go running. So that’s a new goal of mine as well! My boyfriend even said we can go jogging together when I see him next weekend, so I’m looking forward to that for sure!

not the most specific personal goals but still things that I know I can achieve! I’m super tired and it’s not even that late and I haven’t done much this week. That’s how I know I made the right decision to take time for myself. always have your own best interest at heart, in a positive and healthy way! Don’t push past your limits and don’t let yourself burn out! It’s easier said than done but taking care of yourself is so important! That’s something I need to continually remind myself!
til next time lovelies 🩷🤍
