The people and industries of the world's richest countries have done the most to heat the planet. But they're terrified of being held liable for extreme weather they've made more violent. Meanwhile, the poorest can't afford to pay for the consequences of other people's pollution. So should the rich world be paying for climate damages – and what's the best way to do so?

LH x skating AU when? 🤭
anon, whoever you are, i'm a little bit in love with you right now. i was initially going to reply that i love yuuri and victor so much i haven't really thought about levihan while watching yoi, but....... as always, everything is levihan to my sick obsessed little mind, and that would have been a big fat lie.
i do genuinely love these new characters, so much more than i expected.
but since you insist... here we go for not just levihan skating AU, but actual, full on levi on ice headcanons:
first off, and you guessed it from that title, Hange = Victor. i know this is not the most popular hc in the snk fandom, but i'm convinced Hange's is at least as old, if not older than Levi is, and they perfectly fit the part of being a nearly retiring athlete whose sole purpose in life is to surprise their audience
so yeah, they've had a crush on Levi and his late-blooming but impressive ice skating abilities since they were up against each other in international competitions, and it did culminate at that banquet where he got black out drunk and openly flirted with them
but Levi's dog Hanjo (named after his idol, and of the same breed as their own dog Moblit (i mean that as a compliment, guys)) died during the season and the pressure was too much and Kenny is a useless fucking coach.... and so Levi fucked up his finale, and gets back home all defeated and unsure of his future
until his childhood friends Petra and Oluo's kids film and post him imitating Hange's years old dance on the local ice ring!!
can i add smth real quick btw? i just love the idea of Levi having a family, and him being Yuuri in this AU provides that. he deserves to be surrounded and supported by living loved ones (his sister Isabel, the childhood friends i mentioned before, and his alive and well mom Kuchel who's running the onsen), and i love that for him here
anyway back to the plot and come on, my guys. what's more Hange-like than spontaneously jumping on a plane and moving to another country/into a near stranger's family just because of a video that went viral and the memories of their crush on this very cute, very short, very intoxicated guy showing amazing dance moves (including pole dance!!! like what) and asking them to coach him bc he's such a fan??
you know the "fell first/fell hard(er)" ship meme? i go back and forth on it for levihan because there are so many ways to interpret their relationship in snk. but in this AU, i have no doubts: Hange fell first (no, i am not counting Levi's childhood crush on them here, bc that ain't love bitch) and planned the whole thing. and okay, it was chaotic planning and they had no clue what they were doing and mostly just jumped at the chance to train this rough diamond and maybe try and seduce him if he let them along the way.... but still, they're the one who went it and gave it a shot. Levi, on the other hand, thinks he just has a childhood crush, and he is absolutely the one who ends up falling hard, head over... skates (shut up, i'm hilarious), which he shows by having Yuuri-level Gay Panics anytime Hange's too close to him or by, yk, dedicating his heart WAIT NO THIS ISN'T SNK whole performance of the season to his new coach (but iT'S jUsT bC hE adMiRes tHem riGHt?? (wrong, Levi, you're so wrong. you idiot, ily so much aaaaah))
also, i dare anyone to tell me that flaunting their nakedness around complete strangers and then foregoing all societal bounderies by harrassing Levi so he'll let them into his secrets and life isn't the most Hange thing ever. yeah, you can't, because that is practically their canon relationship in snk, minus snk-Hange's aversion for baths and with an emphasis on just how clueless they are about wooing someone (and just bulldoze right into it so violently everyone mistakes their insane lovestruck behavior for Hange-usual eccentric behavior. what a romantic disaster they are, they desperately need help. i love them!!!!)
i was initially going to say that Zeke is Levi's biggest rival through all this, but something felt off, and you know what? Yurio is actually a dead ringer for the other insufferable jeager brother!! and so, lo and behold: Eren = Yurio! he's young, talented, ANGRY ALL THE TIME, wants to annihilate his competitors... really the only difference here, besides hair color (and the ability to turn into a giant monster, i mean), is that he becomes a decent human being and not a genocidial maniac in this AU. good for you, yoi-au-Eren, it's what you deserved.
i haven't decided yet if Zeke is more Christophe Giacometti or JJ Leroy material. i will have to think on it, anon, my apologies.
anyway, of course, in this AU (just as in my hc of snk, but don't tell anyone) Levi's a blushing virgin. and of course, Hange steals his first kiss after his stunning performance during China's tournament, as a way to surprise him back after he blew their brains out with his dancing (spoiler alert: it's Hange's first kiss too, even though everyone thinks they're a player who fucked their way through the competitions they've won before -nope. they're both ridiculous I LOVE THEM DEARLY)
oh but whatever you do, anon, don't think about yoi-Levihan using snk-Levi's final salute to snk-Hange as a way to support each other every time Levi gets on the ice (well, Hange used to do the simple salute on their own chest before hugging Levi, until the Russia tournament when he grabbed them by the tie, delivered That Iconic Yuuri Line and then transformed the salute into this much more intimate gesture for the first time). and especially don't think about these two fucking assholes choosing to put the hand that wears these ridiculously closeted romantic identical """""lucky charm""""" rings on each other's chest, right before Levi launches himself on the ice and towards breaking Hange's free skate world record. don't, okay? it's dangerous territory.
right. i'm going to stop here (and i've deleted a big chunk of other stuff actually), but i could go on and on and on...
the point is, anon
you win
there is now a "levi on ice ugggh fuck my life" titled document in my precious, already full fics folder
jesus.

I really hate the company put in charge of renovating the apartment complexes I live in (I live in a row of 4 complexes all rented out by the same company). I was trying to enjoy the sun from my balcony and there are a couple of workers across from me. I don't know what it's called in English, but they are all high up on planks next to the other apartement's staircase section. One of them literally throws his can of energy drink from about 3 stores high on the ground- as I mentioned before, I live in a school area where a lot of the students just pollute the enviroment by doing exactly those things and it's why we have an issue with seagulls and the lower floors- mice & rats. I yell at them, "Hallo!" in an indignant tone, and they all start yelling hallo back to me in mocked tones. I yell at them that they're polluting the enviroment and the guys just shrug it off and yell back that they're cleaning it later. I flipped them my fingers and left the balcony, my mood totally ruined. Considering this can get you fined for 360 euros, I can only imagine how rich the police would get if they actually monitored my neighborhood because it happens almost on the daily over here. I still remember last summer, where I decided to be good for the neighborhood and cleant up the worst corner in the neighborhood where students dump the most of their cans and lunch bags, etc. Within weeks, it had already gotten so bad again one could no longer see that I had cleant the area thoroughly. It made me want to cry. I am by no means a hypocrite enviromental activist like the likes of Greta Thunberg who should really be yapping in China, but I do care about the vermin plaguing our neighborhood and want to put a stop to it. But with companies like the renovating bussiness and the student body nearby, they make it impossible for the people living there to live in a clean enviroment where we have to pay the consequences of their actions. It's selfish, rude and illegal.
Tiny update: I just spotted all the workers had left, and the can is still laying on the ground. I just took two pictures of it as photo evidence. Because taking identifiable photographs of people is also illegal and I never caught any students red-handed, I never was able to go to the cops before- only complain at the school's director board. However, considering this is a company and I did manage to see the person responsible (some north African looking dude with long curly hair put in a ponytail), my odds for putting the person responsible at blast are a little different. I'll discuss it with my mom once she comes home from cleaning the police station- she is just as fed up with the renovating company's shennanigans as I am.

hi! I’m new to your page but your writing is so skilled! So here I am requesting a Levi x reader post war, where the reader insist on taking Levi stargazing? And at some point the reader’s hand get cold and Levi insists on warming her up? Thank youuu! 🧡
Hi!! And welcome!!! You’re so very sweet, I truly don’t think so but thank you! This is such a cute request it kinda got away from me (in a good way) 😅 I hope it’s okay.

“Y’know this can be considered kidnapping,” Levi jokes from the passenger seat.
You place one hand over your chest, feigning shock as the other still grips the steering wheel. “I would never,” you continue before placing both hands back on the wheel. “Besides,” you briefly glance at him with a grin. “You came willingly.”
Levi saved you from a terrible fate, slicing the fingers off a titan before it had the chance to swallow you whole. After, you insisted that he come over to your place so you can make him a cup of tea. It’s the least you could do is what you told him. Levi’s not one to accept a gracious offer like this from a civilian but there was something about you that was inviting to him, and he couldn’t help but give in to his curiosity. You two spent the next hour talking. Well, it was mostly you doing the talking but you asked Levi questions and surprisingly he answered. After that initial meeting, you checked in on him from time to time. He got used to you popping in. Your visits became so frequent his squad knew you by name.
The rumbling followed shortly after and you didn’t hear from him for a little while. Of course you were worried. You surprised yourself, and him, by practically jumping on him the day he got back. Since then, you two have been closer than ever.
“Come on, you’re not even going give me the slightest hint?”
You fight back a chuckle as you answer. “Weren’t you a captain? Aren’t captains supposed to be patient?”
“I wouldn’t have gotten anything done as a captain if I were always patient now, would I?”
“Fair enough.” You look ahead at the road in front of you, appreciating the sight. It’s a nice evening, the sky has transitioned from a deep blue to an almost black. Sparkles of light are start to peek out.
“Stars.”
“What about them?”
“We’re going to see them.”
“I see them every night.”
“Not like this. We’re stargazing tonight.”
You drive down a deserted road; the light pollution fades away as you approach a lake. You see the brilliant shine of its water and smile.
“Okay, this should be fine.” You say before stopping the car. You don’t turn off the headlights so you can see what you’re doing. You grab Levi’s wheelchair from the bed of your truck and help him onto it before you wheel him right in front of the lake.
“Trying to drown me?” You can hear the smirk in his voice.
“I would never drown Humanity’s Strongest Soldier.” You say with a little more admiration than you mean to. Levi hums in response and you take it as your cue to get your seat. “Be right back!”
You feel a steady breeze hit you as you walk to and from the truck. You approach Levi with your chair in tow. His head is tilted upwards, towards the sky.
“So…what do you think?” You ask him as you take your place next to him.
“Not bad.” He nods to himself, seemingly admiring the stars scattered above him.
“Right?” You smile, gently nudging him with your elbow as you take in the view yourself. Your eyes jump from star to star. “Can you spot any of the constellations?”
You glance at Levi and you can see him scanning over the pattern of the stars for a moment before finding a familiar sight. “Orion.”
“Good eye.” You smile but it quickly drops when you realize what you just said, not wanting Levi to think you’re making fun of him. “Sorry, I didn’t mean-“
“It’s alright.” Levi cuts you off with a small chuckle. “I only have the one. I’m grateful it can still do its job.”
You sigh, relieved, and go back to admiring the stars. You both sit there in comforting silence for a while. The breeze starts to pick up and you feel the uncomfortable chill prickle at your skin. You don’t want to be the reason you two back up and go home so you try to subtly blow warm air into your hands. That, of course, does not go unnoticed by Levi.
“Cold?”
“A little but it’s okay -“
As if by reflex, Levi places a gentle hand over your cold one.
“Does that help?” He asks you, his eyes seemingly say they hope it does and it’s hard for you to answer because he’s so warm?
Levi interprets your lack of response for you not wanting his hand on yours so he ends up quickly pulling back. “Sorry.” He says quietly, the lightest pink coloring his cheeks. However, that doesn’t stop him from trying to help you. “We can also share my jacket if that’s better.” He tries to drape it over both yours and his knees but it isn’t long enough.
“Levi-“
“I don’t need it, it’s fine. You can stick your hands under it.” He drapes it just over your knees.
“Levi…” You start slowly, a smile in your voice. “How about we just,” You pick up his wrist, creating an opening so you can lean into him. Levi looks a bit startled but he follows your lead and wraps his arm around your shoulder. “And now the jacket can cover both of us. Is that okay?”
“T-that works.” He breathes out before he covers the both of you with his jacket.
There’s another moment of silence before Levi speaks once again. “Thank you.” He utters quietly.
“For what?” You ask him as you stare up at the sky.
“Showing me the stars.” ✨

“…In the Early Middle Ages, most French Jewish communities had settled in the southeast, on the shores of the Mediterranean. Although there were few Jews north of the Alps, they were the focus of restrictive laws that limited their freedom of movement and their ability to interact with Christians.
For instance, a mid-fifth-century council held in Troyes, northern France, prohibited Jews from going out of their houses to have any form of communication with Christians during Eastertide – a time celebrating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, therefore a particularly tense period for the Jewish community who were accused of his murder.
A century later, other councils banned the appointment of Jews to any public office that would put them in a position of superiority over a Christian. Jews were no longer allowed to work on Sundays and were to refrain from eating with Christians. Intermarriage between Jews and Christians was forbidden in early Roman law codes, a prohibition early medieval law codes reiterated.
At that time, the fragile state of Christianity – still a relatively new religion in Europe – fueled the clergy’s anxieties. Clergymen were afraid Jewish people would “pollute” the minds of Christians and turn them away from the Church. They advocated relentlessly for their conversion to Christianity. This project was finally successful in the seventh century when the Merovingian king Dagobert called for the baptism or expulsion of the Jews of his kingdom. More than a century of political unrest followed.
Dagobert’s rule, during which Jewish communities grew again in size. By the end of the year 800, Charlemagne became emperor. Charles’ attitude towards the Jews was ambivalent but more open than before. Carolingian capitularies reiterated certain older restrictions, and the chancery levied heavy taxes on the Jews. Because of these taxes, Jews constituted a reliable source of income for the chancery. Charlemagne, therefore, granted the Jewish communities privileges safeguarding their autonomy and their rights to practice their religion.
For instance, Jews responded to their own laws for all matters concerning “low justice,” such as marriage and business contracts, small offences, and inter-community disputes. Murders, however, were to be tried by the Christian authorities. Until the First Crusade, the lives of medieval French Jews were relatively peaceful – only two episodes of violence were reported in the early eleventh century. But things were about to change.
Set in the context of religious zeal, the Crusades stirred the pot of hate. Pope Urban II came to France in 1095 and preached the First Crusade with tremendous success. The message was clear: Christians should take up arms to fight the enemies of God and Christianity. While the pope clearly laid out that the point was to free Jerusalem, some interpreted it differently. According to chronicler Guibert of Nogent (1055–1124), a group of men from Rouen, Normandy, had decided to leave for the East, but they began questioning their purpose:
“We want to attack the enemies of God in the east after traveling great distances, while before our eyes are the Jews, of all races God’s greatest enemy.”
Pondering their options, the men took their weapons, captured many Jews, and killed them, adults and children alike, only sparing those who accepted conversion. Then they left for Jerusalem.
The Crusades fueled dozens and dozens of pogroms across Western Europe. In the late eleventh and early twelfth century, the pressure to convert was immense, and the risks of refusing to convert were even greater. A mid-twelfth-century Christian chronicler, Richard of Poitiers, acknowledged the great sufferings of the Jewish people at the outset of the early crusades, of which he underlined the unfairness. But the anti-Jewish sentiment in the Christian communities only grew stronger.
In the aftermath of the crusades, European Jews were at the center of rumours propelled by distrust and suspicion. In Blois, France, in 1171, Christians accused members of the Jewish community of having murdered Christian children during religious rituals. Called the “blood libel,” these accusations first appeared in England and were attested across Western Europe from the twelfth century to the modern era. In Blois, the blood libel accusations lead to the dramatic death of more than 30 members of the community. The survivors’ estates were confiscated. Ten years later, King Philippe Augustus expelled the Jews from the royal domain.
Anti-Semitism received the Church’s support in the early thirteenth century at the Fourth Lateran Council (1215). The council invited kings and rulers to force the Jews of their kingdoms to wear a distinctive symbol on their clothes or a specific hat that would make them immediately recognizable by Christians. In 1269, Louis IX of France made the symbols mandatory.
The thirteenth century also witnessed the forced segregation of Jews to specific areas. Traditionally, Jews lived together in neighbourhoods often nicknamed juiveries (Jewries). Paris counted four juiveries at that time. When Saint Louis made the distinctive symbols mandatory, he also forced the Jews to live in Jewries. Forced residence in Jewries signalled the birth of “ghettos,” neighbourhoods reserved for the Jewish population of a given town.
In the aftermath of the fourteenth-century plague, many Jewries were equipped with gates locked at night to prevent people from entering or exiting the district. Jewries started to turn into ghettos. The point of the ghettos, some rulers argued, was to protect the Jews from the violence Christians perpetrated against them. But ghettos also functioned as traps and participated in marginalizing the French Jewish communities.
The first decades of the fourteenth century were marked by an economic crisis and recurring food shortages. Anti-Semitism was on the rise again. In 1319 and 1321, Parisians – Christians – manifested their hatred toward Jews by publicly burning the Talmud. The plague signalled a new era of pogroms and violence against the Jews, who became the “scapegoats” of the crisis. The chronicler Jean de Venette witnessed and described the consequences of the plague for the Jews:
Some said that the pestilence was the result of infected air and water… and as a result of this idea, many began suddenly and passionately to accuse the Jews of infecting the wells, fouling the air, and generally being the source of the plague. Everyone rose up against them most cruelly. In Germany and elsewhere – wherever Jews lived – they were massacred and slaughtered by Christian crowds and many thousands were burned indiscriminately.
As Venette states, Christians accused the Jews of having poisoned wells to spread the disease. In Toulon, southern France, 40 Jews were killed by fire right after the epidemic started. In Strasbourg, northeastern France, in 1349, hundreds of Jews who lived in the city’s ghetto were locked up in a building by angry Christians and set on fire. Similar massacres happened in the pontifical city of Avignon, and in Narbonne, Carcassonne, and Toulouse, to cite but a few southern French examples.
Pope Clement VI (1291–1352) issued a bull forbidding the killing of Jews, but to no avail. Distrust and hatred were so intense that the city of Strasbourg, in the Rhine valley, expelled all Jews from its jurisdiction and forbade them from entering the city. This law was only removed from the city’s policies during the French Revolution in the late 1780s.
In many ways, medieval anti-Judaism paved the way for modern anti-Semitism. From accusations of greed and avarice to the blood libel, from the wearing of distinctive symbols to mandatory residence in ghettos, the Middle Ages witnessed the development of a series of stereotypes and a system of repression that had repercussions far into the twentieth century and the modern day.
But the Jewish communities of medieval France did not always live in fear. They enjoyed times of peace and independence and were, usually, relatively integrated into urban communities. Their role in the intellectual renaissance of the twelfth century is especially remarkable and well-marked in historiography.”

when belphegor falls in love
Tumblr media
content + warnings: belphie x reader, some angst (and chapter 16 spoilers) with a fluffy end, probably some improper astronomy things going on but i'm trying my best // [masterlist]
word count: ~1.3k
Tumblr media
the planetarium is cast in a blueish glow from the stars above-- something about the devildom skies made them twinkle in a barely-there powder blue, now recreated on the ceiling in sparkling, vivid specks of wonder.
the stage was set beautifully before you arrived. layered blankets covered a larger-than-necessary section of the floor, nested around the makeshift bed that he had already warmed up for you with a quick snooze of his own. there was a small mountain of pillows waiting for you
but that was then, and this is now. all preparations were played off as simple and easy, disregarded as insignificant now that you were wrapped up in his arms. belphie smirks as your lips press soft, sweet kisses across his cheeks and temples-- as much as he doesn't want to admit that he put in effort to make this date special, he loves basking selfishly in your praise. it's smug, he knows, but considering how much work something like this is for the avatar of sloth, shouldn't he get a little recognition?
your body is soft against his, warm and comforting like a blanket fresh from the dryer. he pulls you in a little tighter and nuzzles against the side of your hair, peppering little kisses against you just to hear that giggle he adores spill from your lips. his eyes are on you, but yours are glued to the twinkling lights on the ceiling-- lucky, seeing as he doesn't have to hide the sappy look on his face from you when your attention is divided.
"are these the same stars we have in the human realm?" you ask quietly. he nodded and finally tears his gaze away to join yours on the recreation of the starry sky above you.
"mhmm," he murmurs quietly. "that's one of the things we've always had in common-- the devildom and the human realm share the same stars."
if this had been a better night, he would have taken you out to see the stars in real life, not just come phony imitations. but the light pollution in the devildom was a bitch. the only place within a reasonable distance with a clear enough view was the demon lord's castle, but frankly, belphie had no interest in sharing your attention with lord diavolo of all demons tonight. so, albeit a bit reluctantly, he settled on the planetarium instead.
"that makes sense."
your arm lifts towards the sky and points to a constellation above. your eyes glimmer with pride in the low light, and he wonders what's going to come out of your mouth.
"that's the big dipper," you say proudly.
he laughs-- it's a little mean, judging by how confident you looked during your announcement. but you just look so cute pointing out one of the most recognizable constellations like it's a diamond in the rough. you pout a little and look at him funny.
"what? that's the big dipper."
"yeah, obviously," he retorts, that smug grin making him look mean and sweet all at once. "i'm sure even levi could point that out."
"oh yeah? then you point out a constellation, genius."
a chuckle leaves his lips. his fingers trail up your arm, teasing you, feeling the way goosebumps gather on your skin as he moves. he takes your wrist and points your finger at another cluster of stars.
"you see that w-shape over here?" his hand guides you into connecting dots across the projection. "that's cassiopeia."
his eyes flicker over to you. your gaze is no longer scorned but wide-eyed and enraptured. a swell of satisfaction warms his chest.
you've always had an interest in stargazing. it was one of the first things the two of you connected over once he left the attic. life had never been so awkward as it was then. not only did his brothers tiptoe around him, like they were waiting for him to explode into a tantrum of sorts. but now he had you to wrap his mind around: a human descendant of the sister he lost so long ago, now here and friendly with demons that should have killed you in one fell swoop.
well, it seemed like he had done enough damage for the rest of them.
he didn't deserve you. not really. he was reminded of his sins in quiet moments like this. you're babbling on about something related, some story you've been meaning to share. he thinks he hears beel's name somewhere in the story, so he nods like he's paying attention.
how he managed to win you over is something that still baffles him to this day. you should hate him. you should have spat in his face on that day, made him pay for the lies and deceit at your expense. but you didn't. you accepted him on your own terms, bridging the gap between you through his brothers. you single-handedly fixed what was broken when lilith died-- he still feels indebted to you in some way. maybe that's why he still feels some lingering guilt snuggling close to you like this. he doesn't deserve your kindness.
"you okay?"
your voice is soft, each word threaded with concern. he blinks. has he really been out of it that long?
"i'm fine," he answers, but he won't meet your gaze. he knows that you know he's lying. "really."
you intertwine your fingers with his and press a soft kiss to the back of his hand. it's quiet. no words are exchanged as you stare at each other for a moment. it's nice.
you look beautiful under these stars. belphegor is in love with you.
the realization makes his cheeks burn, and he unconsciously moves to snuggle closer to you. his fingers quiver a little against your hand, but you don't seem to mind. you give him a small smile and graciously accept his snuggles without question.
he loves you so much.
it feels a little hard to breathe right now-- feeling your warmth against him makes him hotter, and suddenly he feels like retreating from your kindness and sleeping the next century away under beel's bed.
"regardless," you say, in a way that shows him you know he's acting off but won't push him any further. "whatever it is, you can always talk to me. you mean the world to me."
the heat of shame and embarrassment melt away as you embrace him. your eyes focus back up on the ceiling.
"there's the little dipper, too," you murmur. he laughs again. "what? why do you keep laughing, you big bully?"
"you look really cute when you do that. y'know, when you get excited about finding really easy constellations," he huffs quietly, nuzzling into your neck with red cheeks and a surly pout at such a cruel nickname. he feels you laugh, buzzing pleasantly against his nose, and can't help but smile a little himself.
"gross," you tease. you both laugh this time. then, quieter, you ask, "will you tell me about the constellations?"
he nods and shifts to look at the ceiling again. when belphie tells you about the stars, he doesn't just explain their names-- he brings them to life. their conception and birth are discussed in hushed voices, with him telling you stories only a fallen angel would know. they begin to feel less like twinkling objects millions of miles away but, instead, like family. these stars you've gazed up at all your life have their own stories. one day, you'll make sure belphie tells you all of them.
he decides, as he's talking, to save his confession for another time. part of him wants to lay it all out for you immediately. then again, confessing under fake stars feels sort of like a jinx, doesn't it? so he'll wait-- for real stars, for the right time, for the best way to tell you he can't live another day without you.

Sleepy levi who’s cuddling you at night and has almost fallen asleep, until you can’t remember if the front door is locked or not. Then he’d grumble and get up to go check because it’s you, and he’d do anything to make you feel safe<3
I change the cuddle for Levi resting on your chest...
Imagine that someone gives you so much peace that just lying in their arms makes you sleepy. The anxiety fades away, the crimson evaporates, and the love is so pure that it transforms into what he needs most: tranquility.
Your fingertips are feather-like roaming his scalp, his hair velvet through your fingers. His head rises and falls with each of your breaths. His motivation in every fight. He looks beautiful, as if his innocence has been restored, cocooned in the warmth of your flesh. You retrace the outline of his face, the dense line of his eye lashes, his cute little nose, the puffy curve of his cheek, his thin dewy lips. You pinpoint every freckle on his skin.
The candles blow out and the room sinks into a silent darkness, and the voices from the hallway remind you of your carelessness. But you are stuck under him, and it would be unforgivable to pollute his sleep.
"What's wrong?" He groans with his eyes closed. You wonder how he does that, like he had a sixth sense to perceive the feeblest disruption in you.
"I... uh... I forgot to lock the door," you fumble with your words. "Just let me—"
But he holds you tighter. "You're not going anywhere." Levi just found that sleeping position you cannot disrupt.
"What if someone breaks in?"
"Nobody is going to break in." His voice is slurred as he crosses the bridge from the real world to the realm of dreams. "And if they do, I'll beat the shit out of them for your sake."
"That's sweet Levi, but—"
Levi's chest roars with a hybrid of a grumble and a sigh; your uneasiness will not let him rest. He stirs and crawls out of the bed, stumbles over one of your boots, damns his pinky toe with the leg of your vanity, but bites his pain as he is inured to. Finally, the latch locks in place, and he retraces his steps back to you.
For you, he'd walk barefoot on hot coal to bring you a napkin.

YES, PLASTIC BAG BANS HELP PREVENT POLLUTION REALLY WELL
"Plastic bags are everywhere - littering our streets, clogging up our rivers, and choking wildlife in the ocean.
But after years of campaigning from environmental groups, many places have banned them entirely.
Over 100 countries now have a full or partial ban on single-use plastic bags. Between 2010 and 2019, the number of public policies intended to phase out plastic carryout bags tripled.
The results of such tough rules are starting to show.
What is a plastic bag ban?
A plastic bag ban is a law that restricts the use of lightweight plastic bags in shops. Sometimes they are totally banned, and sometimes consumers have to pay a fee to buy them.
The bans often only apply to thin plastic bags, with thicker, reusable ones still available for purchase.
Bangladesh became the first country to introduce a ban on plastic bags back in 2002.
Tumblr media
Such total bans are common throughout Africa and Asia. These areas import much of the Global North’s ‘recyclable’ rubbish and so face the consequences of plastic mismanagement more acutely.
In addition to plastic bags, many countries ban other types of single-use plastic like in the EU which has got rid of single use cutlery, straws, balloon sticks, and coffee buds.
Which European countries use the most plastic bags?
In Europe, 18 countries have imposed bans on thin plastic bags - including France, Germany, Italy, Iceland, and Albania.
A further 23 countries require consumers to pay a fee. Two more - Switzerland and Norway - allow the plastic industry to impose a ‘voluntary charge’ on the use of the bags.
Plastic bag consumption is highest in the Baltic and Nordic countries, Eurostat data from 2019 reveals. Latvia (284 bags per person, per year) and Lithuania (332) consumed far more plastic bags than any other European country. This could change, however as from 2025, Latvian shops will no longer be permitted to give away free plastic bags. A similar prohibition will come into force in Lithuania this year.
The lowest plastic bag usage can be found in Portugal (8), Belgium (17) and Poland (23).  Portugal banned the bags in 2021, two years after Poland. [Note: To be clear, that is 8 plastic bags per person per year! Way lower than I thought was currently possible!]
Do plastic bag bans work?
Plastic bag bans have so far been highly successful. A ban on thin plastic bags in California reduced consumption by 71.5 per cent.
Research shows that taxes work too. According to a 2019 review of existing studies, levies and taxes led to a 66 per cent reduction in usage in Denmark, more than 90 per cent in Ireland, between 74 and 90 per cent in South Africa, Belgium, Hong Kong, Washington D.C., Santa Barbara, the UK and Portugal, and around 50 per cent in Botswana and China.
And the impact is visible on the ground too.
At a 2022 annual beach clean in New Jersey, US - where a ban was recently introduced - the number of plastic bags collected dropped 37 per cent on the previous year. Straws and takeaway containers dropped by a similar amount.
“It’s really, really encouraging to see those numbers trending down for the bags, straws, and foam containers,” said Clean Ocean Action Executive Director Cindy Zipf. Clean Ocean Action is a charity that is instrumental in organising the beach clean."

Hello!
Once again, you don’t need to write anything you don’t want to. It’s your stories and your voice!
Now that being said, I have a weird request.
So I really love the mermaid stories, and I was wondering if you can make a lil nsfw story about a mermaid demon levi.
There’s a demon called “Leviathan” in mythology, and I thought it might be funny if that was Levi’s demon-stage name. Maybe a modern au, but Levi works as a sea environmentalist. Making sure the ocean is clean by day, killing bad people at night.
Tumblr media
@ladycheesington <3
It'll be our little secret
Levi x fem!Reader
Modern AU, fluff, romance, confessions, kissing, demon Levi, Leviathan Levi, human reader, mentions of blood and a dead body, bloodied Levi, happy ending, becoming a couple
You and Levi clearly like each other but you haven't confessed yet. You have been helping Levi out with testing things in the sea to make it cleaner and better for the creatures within it. You go to the docks at night to confess your love, but stumble upon Levi with a dying person in his clutches, looking like a demon, and blood all over him.
Information:  Leviathan is the demon of envy, he punishes sinners. Has also been known as one of the seven Princes of Hell corresponding to the seven deadly sins.

Tumblr media
The smell of the sea was always so soothing to you. You adored everything about the sea. Working on the docks with a wonderful team trying to look after sea creatures was the best thing in your life. To make things better, you had the best colleague who you worked with side-by-side.
Levi was a dream to you and the two of you flirted often. It was very clear you both adored each other and wanted more than friendship, but you didn't do anything. Levi smelt like a fresh summer's day by the beach. He made you feel comforted and safe.
Tonight you were done. It was confession night. You were going to go right up to Levi as he does his nightly check at the docks and confess your feelings under the enchanting moonlight. You were dressed up in a cute summer dress with your hair styled and light makeup. You were ready to be in love with the man of your dreams.
The little heels on your ankle boots tapped on the wooden decking. You clutched the strap of your bag as you felt a little nervous. You were hoping Levi would accept your love, but it might go terribly. You first checked Levi's office, but he was nowhere to be found. So, you assumed he was down the docks in the other office he had.
Your hand wrapped tightly around the handle as your heart fluttered in your chest when you saw the light was on. With a deep breath and your confidence at the highest it has ever been in your life, you pushed the door open.
A single light lit up the gruesome and yet grimly beautiful scene. Hanging by his shirt, soaking in blood with gashes open wide from claw marks, was a man you recognised as a rich tyrant who polluted the oceans and recently made you cry in a meeting. With eyed eyes, he silently pleaded with you as he slowly died.
Hovering over the rich man was Levi, but he didn't look like the Levi you knew. Black horns stood proudly on his head and almost looked like a crown. His hands were claws with black scales that sparkled like a moonlight ocean. His eyes were consumed with black like he was a shark attacking. A long serpent-like tail replaced Levi's legs, but he managed to stand on it. To you, he looked like a Leviathan but without the dragon like face.
You gulped hard when you saw the blood on Levi. "Levi, are you hurt?"
Levi released the man with a heavy thud on the floor and a splatter of blood. He slithered closer to you because you had this magnetic pull on you. He lovingly said your name. "I'm not hurt."
You smiled up at him, he was so tall on his tail. "I'm glad."
He reached closer to you and hesitated a moment. "You...look...so divine."
You looked in your bag and grabbed some wet wipes. You took his clawed hand and began cleaning. "Thank you."
Levi purred a little. "Are you not scared?"
You shook your head. "I have seen many sea creatures and you must be one." You looked up at him and began cleaning his face. "What are you?"
"Leviathan."
You stared at him for a moment before you giggled. "I get it, you know cause your name is Levi."
Levi smiled a little. "Tch, yeah."
You nibbled your lip. "So, you're a demon of the ocean. You're a prince too."
Levi took your hands in his and pressed his lips against them. "I am."
"Impressive." You looked over to the man now dead on the floor. "Is that the rich man I had a meeting with the other day?"
"He was already on my list to hurt, but after you told me he made you cry he was my number one."
You hummed. "Have you killed many?"
"I only kill the wicked and foul. Those who hurt and abuse others. I punish the sinners. He was soaking in the stench of sin. I had to purge him from this Earth." He shook his head. "The things he did to people and the ocean."
You cupped Levi's face. "I understand."
Levi gripped your hips. "May I kiss you?"
You blushed hard. "Y-Yes."
He tilted his head and pressed his soft lips against yours. As passion filled him, he yanked you against his body where you fitted so perfectly. His arms snaked around your body and squeezed you. His forked tongue slipped into your mouth and moved with yours. A little moan escaped you both as your love was confirmed.
Levi pulled back a little and sighed. "This has to be our little secret."
"Our love?"
"I meant what I am and this kill." He smiled. "But let's back track."
You squeaked. "No."
He hummed a laugh. "Love? Do you love me?"
You nodded shyly. "I do."
"I love you too. I have loved you for so long, but I held back because of what I am." He lifted you off the floor and held you against him. "I will find a way to get you to live for eternity with me. We'll always be together."
"I want that."
He nuzzled his nose against yours. "Good, now I must dispose of this wicked man and feed the creatures of the sea." He moved you outside and popped you on your feet. "Go wait in my office for me."
You leaned up. "Kiss first."
He held your chin and kissed you. "Off you go. Good girl."
You waved and ran down the deck to Levi's office. Your heart skipped a beat as you thought of him. Sure, most people would have been scared and run away. Most people would have been sick or angry, but you weren't like most people. You loved the ocean and Levi. Levi was the perfect combination of the sea and a wonderful man. So, this was a dream. You loved him and you would be forever his.

Hi, our observatory is currently under threat of a sand mine being built 500 ft away from it. I'm going to a city council meeting tomorrow and it'd be very cool to have a petition with Numbers associated to point at saying "don't fucking do this", so if you wouldn't mind signing/sharing, I'd appreciate it!
There are a couple of glaring problems with the proposal that I'll list under the read more if you're interested:
Telescopes have mirrors. Sand + mirrors = Bad, since it will cover them and possibly cause scratches (on the mirrors that we've just replaced which cost millions of dollars and years to do)
Sand in the air will scatter light, which makes images blurry when taken by the telescope
It might also get in gears and such, ruining hardware
This observatory has been around for 60 years and is used for citizen/student outreach, including K-12
The mine would be threatening gopher tortoise environment when they are already endangered
The water coalition is also against this due to the possibility of pollution of the Suwannee river
Air quality will drop, making it dangerous for telescope faculty (including myself because I have asthma) and residents
The sand mine is trying to get an exception to be built in a residential zone. You know, where people live?
Noise pollution will bother residents and vibrations could affect instrumentation
Light pollution in one of the few remaining dark skies of Florida will negatively affect observing and residents

Chapter 31 The last battle
Tumblr media
Chapter 31 of Cherry
A/N: AND YET AGAIN another hiatus! This one will be shorter though so :)
Warning- Angst, swearing, fluff, mentions of death and violence
Episodes- 4x88 (special episode pt.1)
Pairing- Jean Kirstein x reader
(Let me know if you want to be tagged)
————
*A FEW YEARS AGO*
“Tell me then sweet Cherry girl,” their voice trails off as they turn around with a glass beaker in their hand. “What is it that you want to be when you get older?”
Wasn’t it obvious by the way you’re hooked to every story they have to say about their expeditions past the wall? Isn’t it obvious by your never ending pestering about wanting to go with them when they leave every single time, even after getting rejected time and time again? Isn't it obvious after losing part of your family to Titans?
“I want to be a Scout,” you respond and help them by sparking some fire in the burner. “Like you, like Levi, Erwin and all the others.” You smile brightly at the thought of wearing a cape like them, at the thought of being as brave as they are and not having to fear a thing any more.
Hange turns and their eyes are wide and their lips are formed into a frown. Your own smile begins to fade at the sight and you begin to grow concerned—then again they are always like this.
“No,” they interject and walk over to the table to set the beaker over the fire. “No. You don’t want to be a Scout, I mean I could never discourage you from chasing your dreams, but,” they sigh and then walk around the table to stop inches before you. They take your hands in theirs and crouches to be at your level. “I have to tell you a big secret, okay?”
Your smile flickers back to life and you probe immediately. “What is it?”
Hange clasps their hands around yours and their lips form to a faint but happy smile. “One day,” they continue. “In your lifetime we will change the world. As much as it pains me the Titans will be gone, we will do it, I know it. And then you, my little Cherry, will have all the opportunities in the world, so tell me what do you want to be in that vast world?”
Your smile slowly widens and without hesitation you give them your honest answer. “Kind.”
Hange grins brightly and grabs your shoulders. “And kind you shall be,” they assure you. “Ah!” They laugh. “I love that answer.” They pull away to get up, and walk past you repeating your answer. “Kind. Ha, I love it.”
——
*NOW*
Regret knowing Hange was something you’d never do. Regret not seeing them fight and die was something you also wouldn’t do, no. In the comfort of the grieving silence that’s set over the flying boat, as you fly through white clouds that fill the blue sky, you’ve forced yourself to be content over the last sight of them. It helps keep their memory intact and not polluted by tragedy.
However, it’s in that grief that you’ve been unable to speak or move from your seat. You ache to comfort Mikasa who struggles with so much already, you want to comfort Levi since he’s also known Hange the longest, but you physically can’t move a muscle. You’re stuck in your seat replaying that last glimpse of Hange in your mind over and over again.
“Now, then,” Armin now directs at the group.
You slowly lift your gaze to watch him.
“Let’s hammer out our plan,” he says and grabs a piece of chalk to begin drawing Eren’s new form on the floor. “Pieck, Captain Levi, is this roughly the shape of the Founding Titan?” He asks as he finishes drawing a portrait of a long Titan shaped like a bone made insect.
“Yes,” Pieck agrees. “Though I didn’t get a great look at it.”
“Basically? It’s a humongous bundle of bones that moves like an insect,” Levi interjects, and you scrunch your nose in disgust.
“If it’s like a normal Titan,” Pieck cuts in again. “Eren would be in the neck near the head.”
You lift your head and break your silence. “Given the War Hammer’s abilities, that’s not guaranteed.”
“In other words,” Armin bounces off your comment. “We don’t know which part Eren is in.”
“Even if we don’t know where he is, we can blast the whole thing away,” you continue to add, and catch a glimpse of Mikasa’s baffled look at your suggestion.
Yet she doesn’t know that’s what he wants. You can’t tell her anything either….so you’re going to have to live with seeing the hurt and baffled looks.
“The same way you annihilated Liberio’s port with the Colossal Titan,” Pieck adds, making you awkwardly look over at Armin.
“That certainly would be the most effective method,” Armin agrees, making Mikasa gasp with even more surprise. Not like he cared like you, he doesn’t look at her, he just keeps going. “But we’ll leave that for after we’ve exhausted our chance to talk.” Armin lifts his head to look at Pieck and you. “If there’s still no other way to stop Eren, that’s our last resort.” He says and then glances at the others.
Mikasa nods in agreement to a plan that you now have to say is hopeless. But you can't be the one to burst their bubble.
“It’s great to have a last resort and all,” Levi adds. “But isn’t Eren controlling the Founder through Zeke? Won’t the rumbling stop if we kill Zeke first?”
That’s right Zeke! Albeit you didn’t see him in paths with Eren.
“True. That might work!” Armin agrees.
“There’s no definite proof, but Hange thought it would.”
“But we don’t know Zeke’s location either,” you point out.
“We’ll just have to find the shithead, the Beast, in those bones,” Levi grumbles.
Silence returns after that, no one protests or suggests some alternative since everyone agrees. However, that silence doesn’t linger too long since Levi is the one that breaks it. “I’ll take Zeke out.”
You snap your head to the side and slowly begin to narrow your gaze in defiance, even if you knew that this was a fight and there are going to be risks.
“Help me do it,” Levi finishes saying.
Without hesitation you’re the first one to of course volunteer. “Of course we will.”
Levi turns his head and meets your gaze with a soft look. You offer him a warm smile but have to then look over at Jean as he interjects.
“Of course. We killed many friends and comrades to get this thing in the sky. We can’t allow that slaughter to have been for nothing. Everything is to stop the rumbling. I’ll do whatever it takes.”
You smirk softly and nod in agreement. Before you can say anything though, Reiner butts in. “Jean—”
“I shot Samuel and Daz,” Connie cuts Reiner off. “And sliced up other people I knew. I got called a traitor as I did so, all while telling myself it was to save the world.” Connie then suddenly raises his head to face Reiner. “Tell me, Reiner. It was agonizing for you, Bertholdt, and Annie too, wasn’t it?”
You look away to look at your hands as you begin to fiddle with them.
“I can’t even make up for the sins I committed anymore,” Reiner says. “Even if we save what remains of humanity, I doubt I’ll ever forgive myself.”
You swallow thickly as you agree with his words.
“So,” Reiner continues. “Well, let’s at least save what remains of humanity.”
“You’re right, Reiner,” Connie agrees with the man. “Even if we can’t make up for it, we still gotta do what we can.”
“That’s right,” you hear Jean say, and quickly look up—“we’re the same, Reiner.”
Your eyes widen in surprise, even if you shouldn’t be considering he’s not that same immature guy from years ago. It’s just surprising hearing Jean agree with Reiner in general that’s all.
“I never had any right to judge you,” Jean continues. “I became a murderer to save others.”
You glance at Reiner as you think about Jean's words, but you can’t come to that same conclusion. Not yet.
“You know,” Reiner says. “On the night of the raid on Liberio, Eren said the same thing to me. I feel like I understand some of what’s going on in Eren’s head. Could it be that Eren wants us to stop him?”
You quickly look down at your hands again as he mumbles the truth.
“What do you mean?” Mikasa probes.
“I mean,” Reiner continues. “It’s just a thought that occurred to me.”
“Somethings been bothering me this whole time,” Armin interjects. “Eren had the power to affect all Titans and Eldians. And yet our ability to use our Titan powers remains unchanged.”
“You mean Eren is purposely giving us free rein?” Pieck asks as she’s baffled.
“Exactly,” you agree as you keep averting your gaze. “He’s letting you all act freely. To test how we all respond to what he’s doing.”
“Why?” Mikasa asks once again. “We might succeed in stopping the rumbling.”
“It has to be agonizing for him, too,” Reiner mutters. “Committing mass murder…that’s not a burden you can just bear. If it was me, I’d be desperate to leave the Founders power with someone else. And it that wasn’t possible, I'd want it to end….for someone to end it.”
You look over at Mikasa to read her reaction.
“What?” She asks with a disbelief that’s painted all over her features, with pain as she understood but doesn’t want to accept that Eren has to die.
You should comfort her, say anything and help her.
However, before you can try moving, suddenly from one second to another you’re transported back to the starry and majestic place that Eren calls paths. Again. At least this time you’re not alone.
“Again?!” Jean complains as they all look around in shock.
“This is…”
“Paths,” you finish for Connie.
Jean and Mikasa glance at you, but neither of them comment, instead Levi interjects. “What, was he listening in?”
“Eren!” You hear Armin exclaim. “Please hear me out!”
Right, why is he not here? He greeted you when he pulled you in alone before.
“This is already enough!” Armin continues, “I’m sure that no one will be able to attack the island for hundreds of years! The terror and destruction have been just that extreme! If you stop now, we can end all this by agreeing to a non-aggression treaty! You don’t have to kill any more people!”
You look up the star covered sky as if you’d spot Eren amongst them, you strain your ear in hopes you’d hear some kind of response even if you know what he wants.
“I’m sorry, Eren!” Armin shouts, pulling your gaze back to him. “We were the ones who drove you this far!”
“Eren…Eren!” Jean surprises you by saying. “We’ll figure out the rest! You don’t have to keep committing genocide for our sake!”
“That’s right,” Connie cuts in now too with tears coming out of his eyes. “Eren! I hated you after what happened to Sasha, but in truth, you were hurting too, weren’t you?! And yet, I didn’t even try to see things from your perspective at all!”
They’re desperate to hear from him, to know why you’re all here; you are curious as to why you’re here again, but you aren’t desperate to try and talk, you already know what he wants. And sure he might’ve not told you anything on the matter of this rumbling, but given what he did say to you, he’s only stopping by force. So talking is pointless.
Yet you let them try because you did promise.
“Eren,” Mikasa now interjects. “I…I want to shoulder your sins with you. The sins you committed…we’re guilty of them, too. So please, don’t push us away anymore. Please, Eren, come back to us!”
You drop your eyes to the sand and sigh under your breath so they won’t hear.
“You heard ‘em, Eren,” you catch Levi cut in. “Do it now, and I’ll let you off with just a swift kick in the ass. Well? Ain’t it about time you said something?”
Silence passes again, only providing more confusion.
That is until you get startled by Armin shouting all of sudden. “Eren!”
You snap your eyes up to look at him with a narrowed glare, but then you hear exactly who he had called out, Eren.
“The rumbling will not stop. Nor will I leave Paradis Island’s future to chance. I will keep moving forward.”
Just as you thought….
You blink and look back at the sand with a disappointed look.
“There,” Levi points out.
You lift your gaze and follow what he points out and only see a single silhouette. Once the others see it too, Mikasa is the first one to break into a sprint towards that silhouette, letting you know who it is; it’s Eren. Without a second to spare Armin, Jean and Connie follow, you however stay behind with Levi, Reiner and Pieck.
You hear your friends pant as they run as fast as they can on the sand, you can hear their desperation to reach Eren, you praise them for trying, but your hope that something can be done has vanished.
“Why didn’t you go with them?” Levi asks as you watch the others run.
You blink and mutter, “I’m trying to save my energy.” You don’t need to say anything else, nor does he press on the matter.
“In order to obtain freedom, I will take freedom from the world.” Eren's voice cuts in again, it echoes from every perimeter of this place. “But I will not take anything from any of you.”
Well isn’t that nice to hear?
Sacrifice the world to save you all? What would Erwin say? What would the other scouts say?
They’d hate it….
At least that’s what you need to keep telling yourself now so you can get in that mindset you need to…kill Eren if need be.
“You all have freedom,” Eren says. And now all of sudden Mikasa, Jean and Connie return back to where they had left without even reaching that white tree. Albeit now instead of one silhouette there’s two.
“You are free to protect the world's freedom. And I am free to keep moving forward. As long as we each hold unbending convictions, a clash is inevitable. There is but one thing for us to do. Fight.”
Is that why he brought everyone here? To say that and make everyone all emotional? Why couldn’t he just say it in your heads instead?
“But,” Armin interjects quietly. “Then why…why did you call us here?”
“To discuss the fact that there’s no need to have a discussion. If you wish to stop me, make me draw my last breath. You have freedom.”
And with those final words a bright white light flashes causing you to shield your eyes. However, just as you think you’re going to be shoved back to reality, when you open your eyes and pull your hand down, you’re actually still in paths all alone. Now however, there Eren stands in front of you, just you and no one else.
“Keep your promise,” he says to you with gleaming green eyes before you’re then put back to reality with everyone else.
——
*LATER*
“Y/N?”
You snap your gaze off your Thunder spear and look to your side and catch Mikasa with her gaze on you. “Huh?” You press with confusion.
Mikasa sighs. “I asked why didn’t you try to go after Eren like the rest of us? You didn’t try and speak to him either.”
This can be the moment, you can break your promise and tell her what he told you. Who knows, maybe if she knows she’ll actually try and do the right thing at the end of the day….
Or she’ll be motivated to try and talk to him now more than ever knowing that deep within, under that Founder Titan still is the Eren she knew and loves.
That’s probably it, so you can’t risk her not having her head in the battle.
“Why should I?” You argue as you secure the Thunder spear on your arm. “It would be pointless if I wasted my energy,” you lie to her for her own good. “If he had wanted to stop he would’ve already, but he doesn’t and didn’t so why try and talk to someone who doesn’t want to hear.”
Mikasa’s eyebrows slowly furrow and her gaze changes between anger and disbelief over what’s coming out of your mouth. “So what?” She retorts. “You gave up hope? That’s unlike you even if Eren is doing what he’s doing.”
You lift your gaze to meet hers and let out a deep sigh and nod stiffly. “I guess I did,” you admit the whole truth now. And that hurts Mikasa more than what you said earlier, she had known you weren’t the same the moment she saw you come back, but she had been lying to herself to try and hold onto something familiar after she had already lost Eren. But she knows now that she lost you too.
Alas she still held onto hope you were in there.
“Don’t,” you contradict her as you see her searching. “That girl you’re looking for is gone, she died in Marley. That’s why I need to know Mikasa,” you swallow thickly and get closer to help her secure her Thunder spear on her arm. “That when it comes to that last moment, that last stroke of that blade, or that one explosion, that you can do it. We need you. I need you. Tell me—” you correct yourself quickly. “No promise me you won’t stop anyone. Swear to me.”
Mikasa’s gray eyes hold yours, now there’s no sign of hope lingering within her about you still being that one hopeful girl, she saw you now, she sees you. She knows what you ask of her, she knows what there is to do about this war, about Eren, but now that you ask her face to face she hesitates to answer you.
“Mikasa,” you call. “Swear to me.”
Said girl draws in a deep breath and swallows back thickly. “I swear,” she breathes out. “I swear I won’t stop you or anyone else,” she assures you.
You draw out a deep breath and nod in comprehension. “Okay,” you whisper. “Good.” You pat her shoulder and then fist your hand to tap the left side of her chest. “Dedicate your heart Mikasa.” You step back and offer her one last smile before you turn around and face the plane door with a watery gaze.
It’s too hard to talk to anyone else, to say goodbye in case this was your last moment with any of them. You wouldn't be able to leave now saying those words, so instead you don’t talk to anyone else. As the plane shakes violently as you fly closer to Eren, now you wait in silence, and with that same fisted hand you tap your own chest. “I dedicate my heart.” To everyone you lost, Furlan, Isabel, Erwin, Miche, Moblet, Hange, every single Scout that you were friends with, old or young, every single one that you knew, you give your heart for them.
“I see him!” Onyankopon exclaims. “Get ready to jump.”
You bend your legs a little to fix your stance and wait.
“Onyankopon, you get over here too!” Jean shouts at the man driving the plane.
“Not yet!” He counters. “I’ll keep going till we’re over the Founder! Afterwards, I’ll make an emergency landing!”
You glance over to him and want to argue back, but you stop yourself and respect his choice.
“So make sure you land on the Founding Titan! Got that?” Onyankopon says.
You get ready to assure him, but then in a split second you get hit with a bad feeling that makes your stomach drop and has you on high alert as you sense danger approaching the plane.
“Onyankopon!” Mikasa warns as she feels the same danger.
Without question the man swerves the plane to avoid being hit by something you don’t catch. Albeit something still smacks a part of the plane and makes you all lose balance. Luckily, before you can hit the wall, Reiner catches you by wrapping his arms around you.
It hurts to say, but you do it. “Thanks,” you mumble and pull away right away to return to your spot.
“The bastards down there,” you catch Levi grumble. “That damned beast.”
You didn’t see Beast, but you do trust Levi, and now realize who had thrown those objects at the plane.
“That saves the trouble of finding him,” you point out.
“Target the Beast Titan,” Armin commands. “Put all your power into taking him out! Let’s stop the rumbling!”
Oyankopon swerves more flying objects and then finally gets close enough to Eren to let Armin throw the door open.
“Scouts dedicate your hearts!” You shout over the rushing wind that flies through the open door.
“Dedicate your heart!” Jean, Mikasa, Armin, Connie and even Reiner shout back.
And now, with that battle cry spoken, with adrenaline now pumping in your blood you don’t hesitate to follow Armin, and jump off the plane to commence this last battle.

Charmed, I'm Sure
Chapter 19
Summary: No human has ever avoided Asmodeus's charm. Except for you.
Pairing: Asmodeus x GN Reader/MC
Genre: Drama, angst, a little fluff.
Warnings: Canon-typical violence, mild blood.
***
Author's note: This one is about double the length of my usual chapters. There wasn't a good place to cut it ;)
***
An hour later you received a text from Lisette informing you that your clothes were ready to be picked up. Mammon had walked away a little while ago to take a call from Lucifer.
“I can finish this really fast,” said Beel. He was halfway done with his third full cake.
“Take your time, Beel,” you said. “Mammon can come with me if he’s done with his call. If not, I can always go by myself.”
“Are you sure?”
“It’s just down the block, and I have Luke’s friendship bracelet to protect me.”
“That really was nice of him to do for you.” Beel gave a half smile. “It is a pretty weak spell, though.”
“I’ll be fine,” you assured him. “How about I text you when I arrive and once I leave the store.”
“Ok,” Beel was placated.
Mammon was playing a crane game outside the cafe as you left, obviously finished with his call. His eyes practically glued to the glass as he maneuvered the joystick around the prizes.
“I’m going back to Majolish to get my things,” you said.
“Uh-huh,” Mammon was totally focused on the game.
You shrugged and kept walking.
Lisette had three black garment bags ready and waiting for you at the front desk of Majolish. You texted Beel and Mammon in your pact group chat, telling them to meet you at the fountain.
When Levi heard the three of you had been at Café Lament, he demanded you bring back a green tea flavor milk tea for him. Beel agreed to buy it for him, so you’d be waiting at the fountain alone for a little bit longer than expected. That was ok, you had your D.D.D. to entertain you.
You draped the garment bags over your shoulder as you walked down the street. The moon shone high above and little stars twinkled in the sky. Somehow, even in the neon-covered streets of the Devildom, the stars couldn't be blocked out with light pollution. You'd have to ask one of the brothers if that was due to magic.
Meow~
You looked down. A cute tuxedo cat was winding its way around your ankles.
“Hi kitty,” you smiled. “I wonder if Satan knows your name.”
The other night while tipsy on Demonus, Satan told you he knew every cat in town. You wanted to test him. Pulling out your D.D.D., you opened the camera app, but the cat started walking away.
“Wait kitty, come back,” you followed close behind, careful not to scare it. The cat turned its head as you approached, flicking its tail lazily. It meowed as if calling for you.
The cat slinked into an alley between a bookstore and an ice cream shop. Both were closed for the night.
“Here kitty,” you said, you wished you had some cat treats on you like Satan usually carried. The cat stopped a few feet in front of you.
You knelt down and held out your hand and allowed it to sniff you. The cat butted its head against your hand, purring as you began to pet it.
“Aw you're adorable!” You snapped a quick photo, trying to make sure the cat’s face was in focus and then you sent the photo off to Satan. You were sure you’d have your answer in minutes.
A shadow covered you and the cat, blocking out most of the street lights. You looked up.
Two demons stood between you and the street.
“What have we here?” said the first demon.
You stood and the cat darted out of the alley between the demons’ legs.
“This must be MC, RAD’s famous exchange student.” said the second demon.
These demons were huge, close to Beel’s size, although it was somewhat difficult to judge in the low light of the alley, their forms blending together in one intimidating blob.
“Do I know you?” You clutched your D.D.D. tightly in your hand.
“No,” the first demon shook his head. “But we know you.”
They weren't RAD students, at least you didn't think they were.
“Oh, well it's nice to meet you both but I really should be going,” You gave them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they were just curious about you, being a human who lived in the Devildom who was not a witch or sorcerer. You tried to politely push past them but they stood like a wall, blocking you in.
The two demons shared a glance and then their gaze turned back to you, it was unsettling. You willed Luke’s friendship bracelet to come through for you.
“You’d think Lord Diavolo would have chosen a peaceful human for his little exchange program,” said the second demon.
“Guess even princes are wrong sometimes.”
They both laughed, sending a chill down your spine.
“What do you mean?” As subtly as possible, you tried to type out a text to Satan since his chat was still up on your D.D.D.
“We know about that curse you put on our friend.”
Your typing stopped. What were they talking about? What curse?
“As if the Devilgram videos of Asmodeus slashing him in front of everyone at The Fall weren't enough. He’s been in the hospital for a whole week now because of you.” The demons took a step towards you.
It all made sense now, they thought you had taken revenge on their friend, the demon who’d tried to eat your soul. But you hadn't done anything, you couldn't. Diavolo had expelled him from RAD for attacking you, and that’s all you’d heard of him.
“That wasn’t me, I don’t have any magic. Everyone at RAD knows that.” You flashed a nervous, innocent smile.
The first demon laughed again. “Maybe you don’t but you're friends with that shady sorcerer.” The demons took another step, backing you further into the darkness.
“Never trusted him.” said the second, eyeing you hungrily.
You knew exactly what they wanted from you and it made you sick. You continued to back away, still trying to send texts but ending up with only key smashes. You received a message from Satan, “???”
“Yeah, who needs 72 pacts? Seems like he just wants to control demons.”
“And a sorcerer that powerful would be willing to curse a demon.”
“Solomon isn’t like that,” you protested. “He wants peace between the realms just like Lord Diavolo.”
“Lord Diavolo is a fool to think there could ever be peace between demons and humans.”
Your back hit the brick wall of the alley, your shirt catching on the rough texture. You were totally blocked in.
“A-aren't you going to use your demonic influence on me?” You didn't know why you said that, you just wanted to distract them while you frantically looked for an escape. “I-I might be more w-willing to give you my soul if you did that…”
“Oh, you don't need to be willing,” the second demon smirked.
You reeled back as much as you could as you were pressed against the wall. The demons were so close you could feel their breath on your skin.
“Yeah, what’s the fun in that? We want to hear you scream.” The first demon caressed your face with his hand.
You whimpered, recoiling.
“How should we split them up?” The second demon asked, he flicked his forked tongue. “I get the soul, you get the body?”
“I get the soul,” said the first demon, baring his sharp teeth. “I outrank you, after all.”
“Fine. Human flesh isn't my favorite, but it’ll do.”
The first demon’s eyes glowed a sickly yellow as he readied himself to take your soul.
Sensing your chance, you ducked under the demon's arm just as his fingers brushed your neck and you made a run for it. You needed to get to the street. Out into the open where someone might see you. You were almost free when your heel caught in a metal grate. You screamed as you went down, your D.D.D. skittering out of your hands.
“Pathetic,” one of the demons laughed as they closed in on you. You were done for.
You squeezed your eyes shut, waiting for some sort of impact as the demons’ shadow overtook you again. Maybe Beel or Mammon would sense your distress through your pact and come for you before it was too late, you still didn't know how to summon them. How long did it take for a demon to eat a soul?
“P-please,” you stammered.
There was a flash at the end of the alley, accompanied by a gust of wind. You heard an impact, but it didn't affect you. The demons growled.
You opened your eyes slowly.
Four beautiful, velvety black wings shielded you from your assailants.
You felt the strange sensation of déjà vu. “Luci–”
But it wasn't him.
Asmodeus, while nowhere near as large and imposing as Beel or Lucifer, stood firm, protecting you from the hungry demons. His arms were outstretched and his wings were spread wide. You could feel the magic emanating off of him.
One of the demons had been knocked down, the other helping him stand. Both were in the process of shifting into their own demon forms, light flashing around them.
“Run,” Asmo hissed over his shoulder.
You didn't move, shocked and unable to look away from him. Their transformations complete, the demons in front of Asmo growled again, both getting into a fighting stance.
“Run, MC!”
You didn't need to be told a third time. You got to your feet, grabbing the garment bags as you went. As soon as you reached the street, you ran as fast as you could. Pained screams echoed from the alley, seeming to push you forward, towards the square. You didn't look back.
***
Asmo had been planning on taking a self-care night, just getting ready to step into the tub when Lisette had called him, wanting to talk to him about something at Majolish. She said it was urgent. So he’d gotten dressed and made his walk to the store, scrolling through Devilgram as he went.
But when the cute tuxedo kitty pawed at his ankles, meowing frantically, he’d stopped.
That’s when he heard a scream. Screams in the streets of the Devildom weren’t exactly rare with all the ghosts who floated around of their own volition. But that particular scream gave Asmo a chill; he had to investigate.
He found you in an alley faced with two hungry demons this time, they leered over you disgustingly.
He didn't think he would ever be able to forget the look on your face. So scared and vulnerable. You had easily faced Beel and Levi, even Lucifer once. But there had always been others around you, to protect you, to give you strength.
When Asmo found you, you were totally alone. His body moved automatically.
They were lower level demons and he was a powerful ruler and avatar of sin, it was so easy to overpower them. He could have inflicted more damage if he wasn't so focused on finding out if you were ok. Were you injured? He felt a sinking feeling in his stomach as he fought with the demons. Even so, it was hardly a struggle.
He left them in the alley half-conscious with a binding spell that would hold for several hours, at least. Just enough time for Lord Diavolo and Barbatos to decide what to do with them. He sent out a quick text informing them of the garbage waiting to be picked up in the alley, grimacing at the blood that smeared on his D.D.D. screen as he typed. He didn't give any details, only that the demons had been threatening you. Lord Diavolo would likely want to interrogate them if they were still lucid, he’d find out the whole story soon enough.
Asmo could still feel the warm, sticky blood on his skin as he shifted out of his demon form. He’d need to take three baths to get it all out, he was sure. At least his clothes stayed clean this time, since he had the foresight to change forms, although the blood still stained his hands.
He took off in the direction you'd gone, his heart still beating way too fast to be considered normal, even for a demon. His head was spinning and he felt sick to his stomach. Where were you? He looked for you in the faces of the people he passed on the street.
He reached the square and found you at the fountain. You sat at its edge, doubled over and winded. So many emotions crossed Asmo’s mind. He looked you over. Your clothes were dirty and you were bleeding a little from your knee, your hair was a mess. But you were still alive, your eyes as bright as ever and your soul intact. You were ok.
Asmo could breathe again.
And then it was like a switch flipped inside him.
“Asmo,” you panted. “Thank y–”
“Are you stupid or something?” He spat.
You looked up at him, startled by his outburst. “What do you–”
“No, I really think you are,” Asmo tossed your D.D.D. at you, you’d left it in your haste to get away. You caught it, narrowly missing the water. “You have no way of defending yourself. It’s almost like you want to die.”
“No, I–”
“You can’t be walking around the Devildom alone in the dark of the night. Where are my brothers?”
You crossed your arms, “It’s dark all the time here so I don't see how the time of day is relevant.” you said. “And I didn't come out here alone, Beel and Mammon were finishing up at Café Lament–”
Asmo scoffed.
“So,” You continued, a slight edge to your voice, “I figured I’d finish my errands. I thought my protective bracelet would be enough to keep me safe if I was just going down the block.”
“And it wasn’t, obviously.” He raised an eyebrow, his stern, disappointed face strangely resembling Lucifer's.
“No it wasn't,” your cheeks burned. “But I-”
“You really are dumb,” He gave a humorless laugh, beginning to pace in front of you. You followed him with your eyes. “Have you learned nothing from being around my brothers?”
“I-”
“No, you’re going to let me talk!” Asmo stamped his foot. “You’re so careless and stupid, you’re always getting into dangerous situations. How could you think Hell Poison honey was the safe one? There’s a skull on the label. That’s like the universal symbol for death!”
You blinked at him, the sudden change of subject was jarring as you tried to follow his train of thought. “You're being unfair, Asmo,” You didn't know why you were defending yourself over something that wasn't even true, “That was an accident, a simple mista-”
Anger blazed in his eyes. “And you always leave yourself open for any demon to be able to get you. I can't stand you!”
You felt your heart break a little. This was almost worse than his brothers’ rage. Asmo had been cordial towards you lately, you thought everything was moving in the right direction. He was starting to warm up to you. So you didn't understand where all this was coming from, and that hurt worse than any anger you thought you deserved. You had tried so hard to make him like you.
“The RAD program will fail if you get yourself killed and it's all going to be your fault!” His words came faster and faster as it all tumbled out of him. “But you won’t get the blame, no. Do you know what that will do to my family? We’re the ones who are supposed to be watching over you!”
You just stared at him, your eyes blurring with tears as you waited for him to continue.
“You just barely got better and you almost threw it all away!” He clenched his fists, his eyes glowing the amber color of flames.
You wrapped your arms around yourself, turning away from him. You didn't want him to see you cry. It was prideful, you knew, but you were hurt by what he’d said. You weren't trying to be reckless, you were just trying to survive in the Devildom in any way you knew how, make pacts, realize Diavolo’s dreams for the RAD program, and maybe free his brother from the attic. But Asmo wasn't in a position to listen to you.
His next words were quieter, although they still held the same venom as before, “What did those lowlifes want with you, anyway?”
It was forbidden to harm the exchange students; demons were difficult to keep in line and yet most of the Devildom population seemed to follow that mandate. No one had bothered Solomon once during the program, and as corrupted by magic as his soul was, it was still human and considered a delicacy for demons, especially for those with very few pacts like lower level demons.
“Oh I can speak now?” You said sarcastically, you wiped away a tear, sniffing.
Asmo glared at you.
“They wanted my soul, obviously. They said I put a curse on their friend, that demon who tried to eat my soul at The Fall. It was their messed-up way of taking revenge.”
His eyes widened. “What?”
“But I have no idea what they were talking about.” You brushed off your clothing, not that it did much good.
“MC!” Mammon called from across the street.
Both of you looked up.
“There’s my idiot older brother,” Asmo growled, narrowing his eyes. But his face looked oddly pale. “You can tell him the next time I catch you alone on his watch, I'm ripping his wings off and feeding them to Cerberus.” He started to walk away, his hands shaking with fury, or maybe something else.
“Hey, Asmo,” said Beel as he and Mammon reached the fountain. Mammon was carrying a yellow devilbear holding a 500 Grimm Akuzon gift card between its paws.
Asmo turned, pasting on his cutest smile. The way he was able to compose himself and shift emotions in a split second was amazing.
“MC, what happened to you?” Mammon asked when he finally got a good look at you up close. “Beel, I told you I felt somethin’ through the pact.” He knelt down in front of you to examine your injured knee.
“Oh,” said Asmo. He crossed his arms to hide the blood on his hands. “One of the Flying Carnivorous Butterwort plants escaped from Asphodel Nursery, it chased them down the street and scared the poor dear witless. Isn't that right, MC?”
You nodded solemnly, corroborating Asmo’s lie.
“Are you ok? Beel put his arm around you, helping you up.
“They’re fine,” Asmo answered for you. “Just a little shaken up.”
Mammon took the garment bags from you, exchanging them for the devilbear minus the gift card. “Let's get you home then. The Great Mammon can patch you up in no time.”
You were mostly quiet on your walk home, speaking only when necessary as you tried to stave off the tears brimming in your eyes. Mammon was explaining his crane game technique to you and Beel in depth, so there hadn't been much reason to speak anyway, as he went on and on. When you got back to your room you found Luke’s friendship bracelet on the floor, the thread snapped and it no longer glowed, its spell broken.

The 40 - The World of 2138 (1/3)
Tumblr media
----
@the-ravenclaw-werewolf, @purplemochi20055, @hulkchloron99, and @maximum18
----
As The 40 explores the original world that Satoru/Momonga/Ainz mysteriously left behind and is currently thriving in the New World, they can see what the World of 2138 is all about.
And safe to say, it terrifies them. Especially when they're taking part in a challenge from an unnamed character:
[Spent 20 years living in the World of 2138]
However, for their benefit, all of them will be living in their own thriving environment that's 20 acres in width and length, completely breathable, having their own individual tiny homes for each member of The 40 to sleep in, a large dome to cultivate crops, a gym to recreational and training purposes, and a laboratory with futuristic tech for creation and research.
Yet, it still does little to comfort their minds when being surrounded by complete pollution with the environment being uninhabitable for any life to thrive. The sky was always hidden behind black smog, while the sun made only brief appearances every now and then. Thick, toxic fog frequently covered the cities, so almost no one went out without wearing a gas mask beforehand. During wet weather, the rain is acidic and foul-smelling and the storms are completely chaotic.
At certain points in time, Levi and Spike would venture into the polluted wasteland in hazmat suits to collect "material" for the other members of The 40 to study. To their distress, they would always find bodies of children and adults littering the area, as they're likely the unlucky poor who were cast out for various reasons and died from the polluted environment.
Despite the bad weather and polluted infertile land, it pales in comparison to how the civilizations are currently functioning.
That will happen in the next update!

Eco friendly cosplay (Save the environment and your wallet)
Before I begin this post, I want to aknowledge that yes, changes made by individual people  won't do much to save the planet in the long run, and yes we should really hold those big corporations that singlehandedly cause 70% of emission accountable. However, that doesn't mean that we can just go around using products that harm the environment all willy-nilly, and we should do our best to keep our impact to a minimum. The same goes for us cosplayers. I know cosplay is a fun hobby. Some of us use it to escape reality, other to find gender euphoria in it, some people just like to act and this is their way of showing that talent.  But we can't deny that our hobby causes a lot of environmental stress, and we routinely use materials from highly environmentally damaging industries. Let's have a look Fabric we use is often synthetic. It's  made from petrochemicals. EVA foam and thermoplastics are oil byproducts as well. And after that intense, environment-damaging process, most of us only wear the cosplay a few times, before we move on to the next big thing.. How can we change things, while keeping the hobby fun and affordable?
Shop in your own closet first. Many character actually just wear casual clothes that any random person can own. Check to see if you maybe already do.
You don't? Oh well. I assume you got a family and/or friends. Check their closet! After that? Thrift thrift thrift! There are so many hidden gems in thriftstores. Altering clothes is also a great way to start your sewing journey. And even if you don't find the clothing item or prop you're looking for, maybe you'll find something else that's useful. Like a leather jacket that yo can use to make those leather accesoires!
Don't make a new costume for every event. Make a handful that you love, aand wear those to the ground. It'll save you in money and materials, and you will also experience less stress, concrucnhing to try and finish your cosplay in time. I'm not saying you can never make a new cosplay, just do it less impulsively.
See which parts of your cosplay you can recycle. Maybe you can modefy that one skirt, or paint over the gun you made? See if you can make it work for your next character.
Does everything NEED to be perfect? I know you want to be as accurate as possible. But do you have to reprint that 3D printed sword twice just because it was slightly off? Or do you need to recast that gem in resin 20 times just to get it perfect?  No you don't Do you NEED to make a mock-up dress? I know the materials are expensive, and you don't want to waste any, but what are you doing with the mock-up materials after?
Continuing from #3, take a look at your fabrics. The entire textile industry is a mess. It's polluting, and often poorly regulated. And not just the synthethic  ones. Even natural fabrics can be bad.  Leather tanneries are awful, and cotton is one of the most chemically intensive crops in the world (still both better than synthetic counterparts) Try hemp, linen, or wool instead of cotton.
Find alternatives for your props. They don't have to be EVA foam and plastic. There are many substitutes. Cardboard, paper mache, recycled wood. Hell, even hotglue instead of resin. Or use things  you already own. Old water bottles can be a great base for sci-fi gubs for example. Be creative!
Make things work for multiple costumes. An old example that I once used on my instagram: @pretzlcosplay took her Gnar dress and corset, made some new accesories, and poof!: a Cubone cosplay!
Don';t buy a wig for every new cosplay. Ok so this one is common sense I think, and I don't think anyone does this but I had to put it here anyway. That one black wig you own? It;s Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Kirito, Kageyama, Levi Ackerman,  Rin Okumura, and on you go. The same goes for most unnaturally colored wigs. Just look up a few youtube tutorials on wigstyling, and that one wig can be a hundred different characters.
Buy secondhand cosplays. Loads of cosplayer sell their old cosplays, sometimes even including the wig. You can look on instagram, usually people have story highlights for things they're selling, but facebook is a great way to start too. They got loads of swap/sell groups for cosplayers. Sometimes there are even event son cosn where you can swap cosplays.
If you're a frequent crafter (whatever the reason) try to buy things in bulk. Not only will this reduce your cost over time and decrease packaging waste, but if you often order materials online, this will also reduce your environmental impact as you'll contribute to fewer emissions that come with shipping.
Buy samples Buying samples is a great way to know for certain whether the material is the right colour, has the right feel, the right texture, etc.  without having to do a full buy of the material. Same goes for wigs. Most wigsites have colour rings you can order, giving you a small sample of each available colour.
Keep your scraps Maybe you'll find use for them in a future project. Or maybe you can trade with friends. Save your scraps if you're a big DIYer
14. If you have the money, buy the eco friendly version. Technology has come a long way, and we have great substitues for most things. However, these are often more costly then the old (plastic) version. If you have the extra money to spare, please do buy the eco friendly alternative, like the eco friendly fillament for your 3D printer.
