Dick does duets where he remixes people who have bad takes. His most viewed one is turning Lex Luthor's corporate monologue into a dubstep track with beat drops every time Superman is mentioned. Equally popular is his mashup of Bruce's yawning with a Sam Smith song.

Jason makes cooking videos. The recipes are normal, but the voiceovers like, "today I'm making a realistic animal-themed vegan bento box 'cause I wanna torment my brother." His most popular video is of him shit-talking Batman while making a pot roast, but it gets deleted because he didn't say "unalive."

Tim does behind-the-scenes videos of his photoshoots where he makes it seem like a complex process with dimmed lights and glitter falling from a ceiling fan, then it cuts to a blurry iPhone pic of a pissed-off Jason with sparkly hair chasing him down a dark hallway.

Damian's is a mix of animal videos, art tutorials, Cheese Viking speedruns, and classical covers of anime intros. But his most popular one is recording his family's reaction to him saying the fuck-word for the first time. He also has a series where he asks people how babies are made to see whose response TikTok takes down first.

Duke posts subtle and wholesome pranks, like leaving Tooth Fairy money under the older batkids' pillows or gradually filling Kate's purse with Jolly Ranchers. His most popular series is when he slowly replaced Damian's furniture with increasingly smaller replicas until the 8th day when Damian finally notices.

Steph does a little bit of everything and often takes suggestions (re: dumb dares) from the comments. Her account started with her just sharing her favorite memes, but her most popular video is when she slept in a bathtub full of Mardi Gras necklaces after an audience poll.

Cass normally posts a mix of dance covers and sign language lessons, but occasionally there will be moments from her daily life that she captures at the right time. Her most viral video is at the grocery store when someone accidentally knocks a coconut onto the ground and she follows it as it rolls to the other end of the store.

Harper and Cullen do a lot of backyard science experiments where they take hypotheses from comments and test them out, like if they can cook steak with firecrackers or make a trampoline out of rubber bands. Their biggest project was turning an abandoned pool into a frog sanctuary.

Barbara keeps most of her daily videos private and her public ones are mainly book hauls, song recs, and computer tips. Her most popular video, even making news articles, is a video where she breaks down how planned obsolesce works and calling out big tech companies.

Bruce has a secret account that no one knows about. He doesn't post anything. He just lurks because he wants to be the first like and comment whenever his kids post.

I don't think Batkid Percy or Batkid Miles are interesting concepts at all tbh and neither of them would let themselves be adopted by Bruce since Percy has so much trauma from older men in power(Poseidon,Gabe,Luke and the gods)and Miles has two perfectly good parents,plus an additional mentor figure he's found family with in Peter B(and full offense to Bruce,Miles has too high of standards after them and Uncle Aaron to put up with him).It would be way more fitting if Percy was a kryptonian-human hybrid to go with her being half god in canon and how kryptonians are deity level strong and Miles should be a Blue Lantern since Atsv is all about him giving hope to other Spiderpeople that they're not doomed by the narrative,plus Percy is canonically a Superman fan and can be the Super to Jason's Bat instead of it getting repetetive by both being Batfam since they're so alike and Miles can be Young Justice's power ring holder and his personality fits right with the canon members.And y'know......Maybe him and Tim can date,i mean he's a lot like Gwen personality wise and alt edgy like Hobie so he's canonically his type and who WOULDN'T have a crush on Miles Morales?

On that note,i really love the idea of Miles ending on Prime Earth right after Utrh and meeting Jason before any other DC characters and that leads to a lot of spending time together both bonding and doing hero work and them ending up becoming found brothers with Miles redeeming Jason while not really trying to,Jason just fixed himself so he could be good enough to be Miles' best friend.And obviously Percy's got her own younger siblings in the other Superkids and she rivals Dick in the 'best eldest sister' award and adds competition to it by adopting Tim and Duke as pseudo-ones and her and Stephanie are only slightly less close than her and Cass purely because Stephcass romantic soulmates by choice in every universe and they do girl things together(doing eachother's hair and nails and makeup,playing video games,cooking fancy foods,talking about their experiences with transfemininity,fighting fascists,coping with their childhood trauma through things meant for younger girls)and her and Jason are the biggest frenemies to ride or die's case ever

Also,just some mix and match thoughts:Son of Helios and Jupiter legacy Miles,son of Poseidon Jason who's a dark parallel to daughter of Poseidon Stephanie like he is in canon(NOT a Luke but an Ethan),Jason Morales(bio kid because he is always afrolatino to me like Percy is)and Percy as either a Spiderpunk variant who's older than Hobie and Nico and Hazel as his Spiderman and Spiderwoman who're all from the same dimension or her own original Spider identity as Seaspider and they meet through dimensional animal spider crossing because they're the Dea Sea Siblings in every universe.Or a three way that stars Miles,Percy and Jason instead and they do things like going to Batburger and getting into fun greek mythos shenanigans and making art together and bonding over being afro-caribbeans.I have so much brainrot for Pjo x Atsv x DC and it's all thanks to them

Dick has had a crush on her since he was nine. He’s lowkey disappointed that she didn’t end up with him like in his dreams. He is impressed that she got Bruce to let down his walls a bit.

Jason continuously flirts with her. She has become more of an older sister role for him. They both can relate to being into some very abusive relationships whether it’s parents or s/os.

Barbra is happy to see Bruce a bit happier with someone he could possibly fully let into his world and she’s glad that it’s someone who isn’t a fucking bitch.

Stephanie vibes with her music. She is a fan especially since popstar!reader finally left Lex Luthor. She still gets a bit starstruck seeing her.

Cassandra adores her. They both found out that they love ballet and they were able to relate to each other.

Damian tolerates her. He does like seeing her around. She also buys him art supplies and puts them in his room. She thinks that he doesn’t know but he does— he’s followed her countless times.

Tim does like seeing Bruce not be such a grump or up everybody’s ass. He finds her to be pretty nice and mellow. It’s very different from what he had expected.

Kate is surprised that Bruce even managed to keep her around a lot longer than expected. She does like her.

Why ‘SladeRobin’ week and not just a SladeDick or SladeJason etc. week?

As all the Slade/Batkids ships are relatively minor within fandom, the mods felt it reasonable to combine them together into one week, rather than do a bunch of separate ones. To avoid this being a Slade/Any Bat week, however, we also decided to limit it to characters that fit under the description of 'Robin'.

This currently includes:

Dick Grayson

Jason Todd

Tim Drake

Damian Wayne

Carrie Kelley

Stephanie Brown

Duke Thomas

Jarro

Any 'We Are Robin' kid

If you want to present an argument why another character should count, let us know! Mods have final judgment on whether a fill is appropriate or not.

With the week name, do the Batkids have to be Robin in the fill?

Nope! When deciding the week name, ‘Robin’ was simply the easiest title to use to describe the pairings we were originally promoting with Slade. Stories can take place in any universe and at any point in any characters' respective timeline.

Does my fill have to involve Slade/Robin as a ship?

Not at all! So long as your fill involves Slade interacting with a Batkid in some fashion, it’s welcome. Nor does Slade/Robin have to be the end game pairing if you are creating a shippy fill. e.g A fill involving Slade/Dick that ends in Dick/Jason would be perfectly fine, as would a story where Slade and Jason are forced to work together without any hint of attraction between them.

How do I participate?

Simply check the prompts list for the event when it goes up and create some kind of content to be posted on the days you’re interested in. Anything from fic, art, image manips, fanmixes, and meta is welcome! The mod will then check the week tags on each day and reblog your content here for everyone to see.

How are prompts decided?

By the fans. A couple months before the week is due to start, we’ll ask for prompt suggestions from everyone, then put up a vote to see which options people like best.

Anything else I need to know?

What are your thoughts on the Batman: The Knight comics?

Spoilers under the cut since it's relatively new

Batman: The Knight is a 10-issue retelling (spanning from January to October 2022) of how concept of The Dark Knight was conceived. It focuses on a young Bruce Wayne in the first handful of years after his parents' murders. I'll be honest, going into it I was a little like "whatever" because we've had countless iterations of Bruce's backstory and at the moment it seems like DC is oversaturated with Batman compared to other heroes, but while this isn't the most original take, the storytelling format coupled with the artwork makes it among the more memorable.

I like how the first issue starts with Bruce trying to channel his emotions into a productive way to help Gotham, but it quickly comes out in ways that aren't as helpful as he thought (with folks like Alfred helping him see that). His fighting/training is intercut with flashbacks of therapy sessions with Hugo Strange. This makes for a good setup because it shows how his noble intentions are confounded by his youthful recklessness.

Issue #2 is a continuation of Bruce learning his Batmanning skills in Paris. I also like how this issue addresses the hypocrisy of vigilantism—he's committing crimes to stop crimes. He also has to learn to be more independent because his whole life, he's been far too dependent on Alfred. I'm kinda meh on the kiss at the end, though I view it as foreshadowing for his future relationships, namely Selina. Also, I love the little details of the past like Bruce owning a Razr and the artwork being reminiscent of the late 2000s.

#3 is where we start really diving into the psychological aspects of Batman. It shows that Batman wasn't an easy decision and we have these glaring moments of self-doubt that, understandably, Bruce would have. Because, as the comic put it, how do you stop monsters without becoming one? The detective work itself felt a bit lackluster but the show-don't-tell of Bruce's trauma and the emotional kick to the solar plexus makes up for it.

I'm not as big of a fan of #4's cover art because it doesn't have the same feel as the first three but that's whatever. Story-wise, I think it's a nice take on Bruce's ninja training but there's nothing too special there. It feels like a transition comic and I was hoping to see more of Ducard. It also reminds me a bit of Batman Begins, but overall it sustained my attention and made me look forward to what he's gonna do next with his new skills.

#5's cover art feels like Carmine Falcone should be in it even though I know better. Not sure why. Anyway, Bruce is now in Russia on an espionage mission. Even when he's in a vulnerable place, we still see Bruce pulling together everything he's learned to outsmart Anton. Also, Bruce was ~this~ close to kissing a man. Half the fandom already knows he's some flavor of queer but I like having another piece of proof for when I inevitably get into an argument with another cishet neckbeard at a convention.

We all know that later in life, even with the batkids, Bruce has these walls around him that take a lot of work to chip away at. Well, in issue #6, we see these walls start to build up. Bruce wasn't always a hardened control freak. The opposite, in fact. He fails to consider the consequences of breaking the rules. We see this portrayed as a flaw in other comics, like when the Gotham Rogues continually break out of Arkham or evade the system, but this issue illustrates how that's not Bruce's fault, it's the system that's supposed to take care of the villains after he turns them over. We see Bruce losing faith in the system and relying more and more on himself, which leads to the popular lone wolf portrayal of him later on. I enjoy not just the nuance, but the details that show how someone like him would become closed off.

(Not a fan of the cover art in #7 that's just me.) This issue is where we explore Bruce's early relationship with Zatanna. She plays a smaller role but it's interesting nonetheless. We see Bruce experiencing magic and he even has the opportunity to acquire it, but he ultimately decides against it. He does a good job of placing boundaries on what he's willing to do, and at the same time it highlights why he trusts people like Zatanna and Constantine more than other Justice League heroes. Also, the humor feels very on-brand.

The training part of issue #8 felt a bit short for my liking, but I still enjoyed where the story went. This issue in particular felt more like it was about Anton's journey to becoming Ghost Maker, so while I didn't expect to see that in a Batman origin comic, it provided some interesting and necessary context for that character. For Bruce, I really like how this highlights that the battle for justice is just beginning, even though we've seen him endure so much already. With abstract concepts like justice, it's hard to picture the uphill battle, but toward the end of this issue I finally start to understand the magnitude of what Bruce is up against.

Issue #9 came out a day ago so it's the freshest in my memory. Bruce's globetrotting is finally over and he faces his real test against Ra's Al Ghul himself. We finally see everything come together to make Batman. We also get to see why Ra's Al Ghul was seeking Bruce in the first place with the incorporation of The Still. The pacing felt a bit off to me because with all the detail they're packing about how Bruce navigates the league of Assassins, it's hard to believe this is the second-to-last issue (I think there should be at least one more). The artwork also felt a little inconsistent at times but it doesn't detract from the story (the coloring is great though). Overall, this issue sets the foundation of the relationship between the Waynes and the Al Ghuls, even providing a possible connection to Damian's storyline.

The last issue comes out on October 18th. I'll definitely be reading it, but I might not remember to review it here so if you want my thoughts, shoot me a reminder.

Overall rating: 84/100. Not the most original retelling, but a detailed and fascinating spin on what we already knew. Also a good starting point for Batman newbies.
