Reminder for bullet journalers.

Your bullet journal should be functional to your needs first, not second. All the aesthetic journals you see online are not effective uses of the method for you, only who use these aesthetic ones as a tool to manage their lives.

that doesnt mean you cant decorate it! You can! Just don't spend so long decorating it that you dont end up actually using it! Your spreads should be catered to you, whether they are chaotic or neatly organized, and they can be decorated over the course of the month as you work on them!

to ensure you actually use it, fill it with things you like or need to do, not just planners and trackers! Don't worry about ensuring you have pages for the next month, use it as a sketch book for your months drawings, use it for creative writing, school notes, or diary entries, whatever works for you.

You dont need to plan your month out by day blocks if that doesn't work for you, you do not need to stick to the same spread set every month, you don't need a year in review, you don't need to start it directly on new years every year. you dont need everything you see in bujo planning videos or blog posts.

Your Bullet Journal is your tool of the trade, use it to create what you like and what you need, don't give up on it because it has been taken and gentrified (i only use this term due to some folks expextations that its "not a bujo" if its not "insta worthy") and "expected" to be beautiful in the eyes of the internet. It already is, because if a bullet journal works for you, it contains your life story
