🥺 Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?

Being subconsciously protective. It gets me every single time: Chuuya tackling Dazai to safety in Stormbringer, Dazai keeping Chuuya’s head in his lap in Dead Apple while he sleeps (and the HAND) and Chuuya being genuinely concerned for Dazai during the Lovecraft fight — all of that!

To go on a brief related ramble, there’s this scene in a Miss Marple murder mystery that I read years ago where Miss Marple is watching this young couple touring a house. While the couple is on a balcony, the railing suddenly breaks, and the woman nearly falls down several stories. Instead of reaching out to grab her, her partner actually steps back off the balcony, leaving her to regain her balance on her own.

Miss Marple goes up to the woman afterwards and basically says “that young man will not make you a good partner if his first instinct is to save himself rather than help you.” And while it’s perhaps a bit of a surface level way to judge relationships, that always stuck with with me (and later got reinforced by a few Life Experiences), so that aspect has always been important to me with characters! (More reasons why I love Chuuya’s character so much alskdjfjf)

😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?

…Hmmm I’m actually struggling to think of one — tbh I’m pretty sensitive to angst (see blog title lol) so if I write things that are too mean I always end up making myself sad too 😅

…Oh except maybe the first chapter of “This is how it feels to take a fall”. That was very mean — BUT I would argue also necessary for the plot! (And again I did make myself very sad alskjdfj) (…come to think of it there were a few Howl AU cliffhangers that were also a bit mean)(oops)

👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!

*Vibrates in place* I am so desperate to have more sleep and time so I can actually finish things alsksjdjfj BUT here are a few updates: I’m making progress (if slower than I had hoped) on the Howl AU epilogue, and after that’s finished I’ll be working on the next Skyline Pigeon chapter, as well as a Howl AU extra that I recently figured out I’m going to call “Rimbaud and the Man of Many Ways”! I am very excited to work on that >:D also the Howl AU sequel will probably be a long time coming, but it’s going to be called “Chuuya and the Castle in the Air”! I’ve been working on plotting it, because I’m working some setup/foreshadowing into the main story epilogue so I need to know what I’m doing at least somewhat lol

Also here is a preview of the beginning of the Howl AU epilogue because I have no self control and also this part has been done for ages, it’s just the later parts that are taking forever alskdjfjf (also apologies for the screenshot I’m currently too sleepy to copy paste this whole chunk and format it on mobile)

✅ What’s something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don’t mean to?

…My first instinct is to say “cuddling”, but that’s pretty deliberate — I crave the FLOOF. So I guess the more accurate answer, for both my writing AND my comics, would be “cooking together”, because that wasn’t something I noticed I was doing until other people started pointing it out XD (I even somehow managed to get it into the Little Mermaid AU — in retrospect my friend’s note of “wait they’re cooking bread now??” was an early sign lololol)

I’ve cleared TGAAC 1-2!

To be honest I kind of did a marathon of the middle and ending deductions because my work schedule is about to be ridiculously demanding this week and I didn’t want to lose any details of the case. (Stress makes for a shoddy memory.)

I’m satisfied in some ways, but not others.

The ending of this case seems like a very complicated way to give Ryunosuke a call to adventure and a motivation to keep traveling to Great Britain. I’m intrigued but at the same time there’s the elephant in the room.

I’m still early game, I realize but what happened to Kazuma in the beginning of this case should be on a list of how not to end a character arc because his story was nowhere near finished!

I did enjoy the twist though.

“The death was an accident, but the coverup was very intentional.”

Also this is one of the many ways a narrative can tell you “panicking and knee-jerk reactions can lead to irreversible consequences, so it’s best to think things through.”

But can we talk about our man, Inspector Hosonaga for a second?

He’s incredible. it’s like if Detective Gumshoe were actually taken seriously and given way more scenes to be the MVP.

I adore him. I don’t care how contrived it is, I want him to follow Ryunosuke and Susato on all their cases. He’s the voice of reason to Herlock Sholmes and his antics.

Speaking of Sholmes... the more I do deduction the more I enjoy it. It’s like wanting seconds of my favorite food. I want more!

Overall this is the most mechanically fun game out of the franchise because it combines the classic courtroom, a bit of perception (when noticing other witness’ ticks on the stand), and Investigations type debate and rebuttal. It’s amazing!

I will play more when I have time, for certain!

same anon, bbc got new management between yyxy and now, right? is the treatment any better based on what the girls have said? thats so horrible. is that why jaden jeong left? (also sorry for so many questions)

"New management" came in after butterfly and yes the treatment is better albeit not perfect. The (very few remaining) old staff are unlearning the old ways of working, and it took a while for the new staff to decide how they should operate. There's a really awkward conversation in Haseul's vlog where one manager tells her she's not allowed to use her phone for something (can't remember what specifically) and the other manager jumps in and says it's fine of course she's allowed. So even though new management came in 2019, it took a very long time for things to get to a level where the girls were (for the most part) happy. Of course there's still a lot of elements of control that the company aren't willing to relinquish and I think that's somewhat inevitable. The main takeaway is that the girls say that they're happier than they were.

Regarding jaden, he left (was made to leave?) because his vision for the lore didn't align with what the new management wanted to do. It had nothing to do with his treatment of the girls. Also, even though I say "new management" came in 2019, it's honestly been more like revolving doors, where many positions have changed almost every comeback, bar a very very select few. I think it was more like the company shedding its skin very slowly as opposed to a complete, one-off transformation at once.

#and just keep in mind that although things are definitely better #theres only so much they can say whilst current management is still watching 👁#but on a positive note #an example of improvements would be how the company did not mind at all when hyeju got that tattoo they were completely unbothered

Where can I find Free Palestine protests and Ceasefire protests?

A super international and continually updated list of actions can be found at Samidoun: Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network's:

Calendar of Resistance for Palestine 2024

They list events by date, then alphabetically by country, then by city - and it's common for them to have dozens of actions listed for a single date, especially on the weekends.

The United States especially often has 40+ events on a single day, especially on the weekends.

Events are posted with links to the event info posted by whoever's hosting the vast majority of the time.

Look blow the read-more for a list of many of the countries that have been on this protest calendar, in alphabetical order, since I know so many websites/lists of actions are country-specific

*Obviously this isn't the only good source of listings for protest events - there are many others. This is by far the biggest/most international roundup I've found, though, so I started with this. extremely long pearl appreciation post except this time i'm maintagging bc i want her to see this. she deserves to see this

she is the kindest soul ever. every bit message, every sub message, every gifted sub, and as many chat messages as possible are read. she genuinely doesn't want anyone to be left out

pearl had a rough start to stream today with a bunch of bots saying really weird things and someone revealing private information of hers which is weird. i have choice words for them but i'll keep myself pg for this post

it resulted in her having to turn on sub only mode which she said upset her. what did chat do?

they gifted probably around 200-500 subs to the community

pearl kept saying how bad she felt that she was practically forced into turning on sub only mode but she also said she didn't want her community gifting so many subs bc of an awful situation. they still did

i will always say that pearl is the nicest person ever. anytime smth bad happens to someone in chat, she's sympathetic and kind and gives them a message. anytime smth good happens to someone in chat, she's very excited and happy for them

it takes someone who is genuinely kind and selfless to do that. pearl does not have to read every bit message and sub message. but she does

her community reflects this kindness. i got broken up with two hours before valentine's day and told chat [bc streams for me are 6am-10am]. chat was so kind and gave me ideas on what to do with the flowers [which i did what they suggested!]

i've been in fandom communities for almost ten years now. pearl's is the kindest. there are so many people in chat i recognize [secret agent, sapphicwhimsy, kawaiitron, voxkeys, cardmoney, etc] that i look forward to seeing in chat. usually i dread seeing what happens in twitch chat's

not hers. hers are so full of kindness bc she is full of kindness and it just radiates and spreads to her community. yes it's fairly no nonsense, her deleting any weird messages, but that's to make sure it's a good place to be

i've been having nightmares and flashbacks recently due to reasons i wish to keep private. very few youtubers/streamers are able to help me sleep without those issues. pearl is one of them. her community is genuinely safe

i tell everyone interested in mcyt to watch pearl. i've been spreading pearl propaganda [/silly]. she deserves so much more than she has. pearl deserves the world

this is an extremely long post but i need to get my point across to her and anyone else, whether they're a pearl fan or not [yet]

pearl, we all love you and are proud to be part of the community. you are such a genuinely sweet person who deserves all the kindness in the world. i'm so sorry you had to deal with that bullshit [pardon my language]. it does genuinely suck but i hope the ~300 subs helped make you feel better hehe 🫶🫶

For those who don't know, the US Supreme Court just ruled that states are allowed to enforce trans healthcare for minors. Undoubtedly, this will trigger a wave of other states that either hope to pass or have already passed policies to do the same. This is going to kill children, and harm more in long-lasting ways.

So, how can you help?

FUCKING VOTE. I don't care if you don't like Biden, he's not the only one on the ballot. Vote representatives into your city council who will turn our city into a sanctuary city. Vote for governors and state reps who will, even if they don't pass new protections, oppose bans being pushed through. Chsllenge and kick out conservative incumbents who are banking on their races being obscure enough for people to not vote in.

Anyone telling you voting is useless is either lying to you or grossly uninformed and think saying this is the edgy new take that will make them look hip and informed. Yes, the system is broken. But short of burning the whole thing to the ground (which personally I'm not a fan of as I quite enjoy having like. Roads and the FDA) what we can do is to change it for the better, by starting with the local races and working our way up.
