PETER VENKMAN’S ROMANTIC INTERESTS

In this comedy franchise about scientists that hunt ghosts to win a buck, the sarcastic and arrogant Peter Venkman was the most outgoing in trying to pursue romance (or at least sexual escapades) with several different women. Sometimes he succeeded in charming them, other times they just weren’t interested in him. Some were normal, some were supernatural beings. Some were good people, and some were evil.
He is the list of ladies that catchet the romantic interest of the Psychologist who becamed the public voice for the Ghostbusters.
DANA BARRETT

Played by Sigourney Weaver as a main character in the first two movies and a cameo in the recent Afterlife movie, also appearing in a NOW! comic book adaptation of the second movie drawn in the style of the Real Ghostbusters animated series and more recently in the IDW Publishing comics, the musician Dana Barrett is shown to be the first lady that Peter Venkman showed an interest that beyond physical desire. In later instalments of the franchises, their dynamic is shown to be of the “on again, off again” kind of fictional romance, but for most people who are exclusively familiar with the movies, thanks in big part to a charismatic performance by Miss Weaver elevating her beyond an one dimentional damsel in distress, she has become the most memorable of the ladies that becamed part of Venkman’s life, and their relationship is considered to be THE end game.
CYNTHIA CRAWFORD

Cynthia Crawford was a TV Reporter created for the animated series The Real Ghostbusters, appearing in the episode Citizen Ghost to interview Venkman about their work in hunting ghosts and trying to understand how Slimer, originally a foe, becamed the mascot of the team. This time, it was only a one sided crush on Peter’s part, because Cynthia was only interested in coming to the Firehouse as a professional to do her job. The episode’s highlight is when Peter watches the news, hoping Cynthia will shower him with praises, only for her to say that Slimer is the most underrated heroe in the team.
LOUISE

A temporary who camed to work as a secretary at the Firehouse desk while Janine tooked the day off to introduce Egon to her family (and people try to argue those two weren’t a couple, but I digress). Once again, this was an one sided crush on Peter’s part, Louise was only interested in doing a favour for her friend Janine, and really wasn’t confortable around people who constantly have to deal with ghosts and other monsters.
WANDA

Originating in a story written for the Real Ghostbusters Marvel licensed comics, Wanda was a villanous mermaid who used her powers of seduction manipulate Peter and later Ray so she could doom the Ghostbusters. Sometimes, there are love stories that aren’t meant to be...
IRENA CORTEZ

A character created for the NOW! licensed Real Ghostbusters comics, A werewolf lady from Arizona who received help from the Ghostbusters to learn how to control her powers and turn into a werewolf by her own will rather than being controlled by the moon or by villains, she later helped the team to defeat an evil demon named Astaroth that intended to dominate the world. She adopted Shannon, the good hearted half-human son of Astaroth, and later started to date Peter.
ILYSSA SELWYN

A character created for the 2009 videogame, where she was voiced by actress Alyssa Milano, Ilyssa Selwyn is an orphan who becamed an art historian and museum curator when she becamed an adult, showing particular fascination with Sumerian Art and Mithology and the cult of Gozer. She is a descendant of Ivo Shandor, the architect that founded the Secret Society that adored Gozer and intended to bring the End of the World. However, unlike her infamous ancestour, she is not evil, and the Ghostbusters have to save Ilyssa when the spirits of the Secret Society intend to sacrifice her in another attempt to destroy the World. Later, she makes appearances in the IDW licensed comics helping the team against other treats following the adventure shown in the videogame. While her relationship with Peter Venkman is not shown becoming concrete, there is a hint that slowly she grows fond of him.
My favorite ladies of this list (specially in relationship with their romantic dynamic with Venkman) are Dana Barrett, Irena Cortez and Ilyssa Selwyn. What are your favourites?

i do not remember the plot of scum villain because i read it in 2020 and it feels like a fever dream now so my characterization is entirely based off of the fanon on my dash.

hualian are my favorite but i do feel that bingqiu deserve the win. tgcf is VERY yuri, but svsss has gender as a main theme and both characters keep getting compared to maidens. overall there are more explicit references to women regarding bingqiu.

"You have a date?"
"If you don't want me to date other people, screw me yourself."
There was a beat of absolute silence. The hero abruptly realized what they'd said. They whirled to face the villain, eyes wide. "I didn't mean - that is - I don't know why I just said that."
Everyone around the room was gaping at the two of them.
The villain's head tilted, oh so slowly, to the side. Their gaze burned into the hero.
"I was being flippant," the hero said.
"Mm."
"You know, because you're possessive."
"Am I?" The villain's voice was silken.
"So I was just getting in there before you said something snippy."
"Oh? Is that what you were doing?"
The hero glared at them, face hot, stomach fluttering.
"Leave us," the villain said.
Everyone around them scattered.
The hero cleared their throat, not speaking until the last door had fallen closed. They wrenched their gaze away to anything, anywhere, except them. "It's not a serious date. I mean - they're not you."
The thing, whatever they were calling it, that they had with the villain was infinitely complex. Consuming. They were the most important person to the villain, and vice versa, and they both knew it but...
But they'd never kissed. They'd certainly never slept together.
Sure, the hero would probably get antsy if they thought the villain was going out with someone who might become first priority. But it wasn't - they weren't - the hero hadn't even been the one to bring up the bloody date!
The villain rose to their feet.
"You're walking dangerously close to one of our lines, hero mine," they warned softly. They sauntered closer, seemingly lazy, except that was the one thing that they never were. "You look startled enough that I can believe it was an accident. We could forget about it."
The hero watched them, a little mesmerized, heart pounding. The villain stopped in front of them.
The hero opened their mouth.
The villain tapped their lip. "Ah, ah. You're not getting away with another flippant comment after that. Think."
The hero closed their mouth. They swallowed.
It was a truth universally acknowledged that when the air between them began to crackle, the hero would say something snarky or careless to diffuse the tension. Nine times out of ten, the villain went along with it. Eight times out of ten, the hero didn't say something quite so dumb in a room full of witnesses.
It wasn't fear. It was terrifying, but it wasn't fear. It would have been so much easier if they were simply scared.
The villain set their hands on either side of the armchair the hero sat in. The hero let themselves be bracketed in with the same slow deliberation as the villain had approached them.
The hero exhaled a breath.
"Good," the villain murmured, studying them. "Now. Would you like to take that back?"
The hero said a lot of crap to the villain that they never took back. They were the only one who did. They watched the villain for a beat, every atom wondering what it would be like if the villain's hands slipped from their careful placement on furniture onto flesh.
The dates weren't like that. The dates were never like this.
But, lord, it would be such a stupid thing to do to cross that line.
The hero tipped their chin up, holding the villain's gaze again. "Do you want me to take it back?"
"If you don't, I'm definitely taking what you said as a challenge."
"Ah, yeah. That's fair." The hero wet their dry lips. "Fair warning."
"So?"
It had happened before. A threshold moment. A teetering. The villain's eyes would go dark, like they currently were, tracking everything. They'd let it go, though. If the hero asked. They always did. For all of their obvious possessiveness, the villain was never the one who brought it up.
"So," the hero dared, before they could stop themselves.
The villain's eyes notched another inch darker, more molten. Their nails dug into the upholstery.
The hero shivered; delicious and awful all at once. Intoxicating.
"So you were being flippant?" the villain prompted.
"So flippant. Unforgivably reckless. I mean, we're a terrible idea."
"The worst," the villain agreed. "Your dates are much sweeter."
"You can be sweet. When you want to be."
The villain clicked their tongue, warning.
The hero grinned back at them. Wild. Drunk, perhaps, on the vertigo of such reckless possibility, such foolish wanting.
They were at the line again. The hero was boldly brushing it with their toe, smudging at it, taunting.
The villain waited.
"You're sweet to me," the hero said. "Despite yourself." They leaned in, and up. "Tell me to stop."
"Do you want to stop?"
"No."
"No," the villain echoed. Then they grabbed the hero by the hair and kissed them.

kinda obsessed with the idea of quiet enemies-to-lovers, actually. i feel like so many enemies-to-lovers ships are so loud, there's so much banter and snark and backtalk, and there's nothing wrong with that; but i love enemies-to-lovers where the loathing is in dark glares and the tense silence enveloping the two, where "i despise you" is conveyed with one look. where, lurking in the quiet, there lies an understanding of hatred—and, eventually, an understanding of something else, entirely.
