#I just know Tsukishima pay such close attention to Kageyama in middle school

// developing relationship , kei doesn't even know he's already pining
Longing.
Tsukishima couldn't figure out what he was longing for. Whenever he looks back at his mom and dad's small talks in between dinner and how they slightly laughed with eachother, Tsukishima felt like something was missing.
It was not about his parents, or maybe school, but instead it's about him. But he still doesn't know what that something is.
What does Tsukishima Kei long for?
All he could do was sigh, a random frustration building up his chest that he didn't know started growing.
But strangely, here Tsukishima was, looking at another vision of two people, except it's a vision of Kageyama monotonely discussing what he's about to do next to the continuously nodding Hinata with no hesitation whatsoever.
Tsukishima felt his brow twitch for some reason.
What's happening to him? Why is he even looking at the two idiots when he should be paying attention to what Yamaguchi is telling him?
It made Tsukishima more and more annoyed, specifically at himself as to why he was annoyed.
In the end, he still doesn't know.
One day, just before the clock strikes 5 in the late afternoon, Tsukishima goes to the washing area just beside the gym outside close to the bathroom, his hands cupping the water from the faucet then splashing it to his face just so he can finally snap out of his thoughts for the past month.
Tsukishima looks right back at his reflection from the falling water on the sink dripping down the drain with the excess droplets from his hands joining it.
He's starting to get crazy from the bundling annoyance he'd been feeling just because of something he doesn't even know.
"Oi, Tsukishima."
A sudden voice from behind made him escape his thoughts with a startled jump. Tsukishima slowly turns his head and sees Kageyama wearing a frustrated but with what looks like a hesitating expression.
"What do you want, King?" Tsukishima raises a brow, too physically and mentally exhausted to even make a mocking comment that he usually says.
Kageyama grumbles at the nickname, studying Tsukishima's uninterested face before huffing, "W-why..." He tsk-ed when hearing himself stutter, then sighing when Tsukishima impatiently makes a sound in front of him, "What's bothering you?" Kageyama finally says, with furrowed brows and, and a determined look..?
That made Tsukishima go still, before he swiftly goes back to his snarky façade, "Oh? Is Your Highness concerned for a mere peasant like me?" He smoothly mocked with a snicker. "That's strange."
Kageyama rolls his eyes at that with crossed arms, "Can you stop with the unnecessary monologues for once?"
Tsukishima hums, pretending to think about it, then finally blinks at Kageyama with an oblivious look, "I don't think I can."
Fed up with Tsukishima being difficult, Kageyama huffs once again before continuing, "Look. I've noticed your plays have been getting sloppy since, I..I don't know, a week??? Coach Ukai told me to, like, consult you or whatever," Kageyama makes a displeased frown, earning an irritated smile from Tsukishima, "so here I am or...something."
"Or something." Tsukishima deadpans, shakes the water from hands away after washing them before looking back at the impatient Kageyama who looked constipated for how uncomfortable he was after saying the words he never said to the middle blocker.
Still, Tsukishima kind of appreciates the effort so he subtly goes easy on the setter, "There's nothing wrong, don't worry about it."
That makes Kageyama snarl, "You're making this difficult."
Tsukishima furrows his brows at that, "Me? Making this difficult? Just say what you want to say, King." He puts his hands inside his pocket, finally fully facing Kageyama.
For a few seconds, Kageyama looks back at him with uncertain eyes, maybe trying to find the words that are appropriate before Tsukishima exits the scene, but he then looks away and closes his eyes with a serious expression.
Tsukishima tries to study his face, but all he could see is how long Kageyama's eyelashes were.
Wait, what?
Unconsciously, the blonde blinks before shaking his head, then tries to wait for what Kageyama is about to say.
"Am I...am I not setting enough for you?"
That made Tsukishima froze on his spot, suddenly feeling as if all air escaped his lungs. What?
Not even knowing what he was doing, Tsukishima sputters on his words, "Whatㅡwhat are you...saying...."
Kageyama seems to not detect this and his frown deepens even more, "I mean, if you think I'm not making you...spike enough, or something,  t-then you should at least..tell, tell me." He hesitates on his part too, conscious as to how it sounds for Tsukishima.
But all Tsukishima could hear was ringing in his ears, not having the chance to fully register what Kageyama just said, leaving his mind in confusion, panic, shock, and...haㅡhappㅡ
No. Tsukishima stops himself even before he tries to figure himself out.
All the unresolved thinking that's close to making his snap from just a few days was already making Tsukishima want to knock himself out but this? This takes the final blow.
Feeling the boring gaze from up top, Kageyama looks back at him, now completely, but he then suddenly stops his movements when he sees the shock on Tsukishima's face, as if he just said something forbidden.
It made Kageyema go into sudden panic, "W..why are you just staring right at me, dumbass..." He nervously rambles, "Just...just say something...!"
The crimson on Kageyama's face roared another batch of unrealistic ideas on Tsukishima's mind that all he could do was look away, flustered, suddenly not knowing where he should put his hands as it flinches around.
What is even happening?
A lump on his throat makes Tsukishima forcefully swallow with an unfamiliar feeling giving him a chill that made him slightly shudder, the abrupt force coming from deep within splashing him awake.
Tsukishima's relieved.
Relieved that Kageyama was the one who made a move after seeing Tsukishima acting strange in practice. Relieved that they were the only ones outside hearing everything from eachother. Relieved that he was there to see Kageyama embarrassingly go red.
But why?
Do you really need a reason as to why?
Tsukishima felt his breath hitch from the blossoming thought he'd been trying to lock up after all of this happened.
Yet, all he could focus on is what he'd been trying to figure out.
One look at Kageyama's eyes focused on him and him only was all it took to finally have the answer.
This. This is what you'd been longing for.
A concern look on Kageyama's face when he noticed Tsukishima had been silent for a long while.
Concern?
Tsukishima's hand slightly shook from beside his hips, trying to clutch something, anything, to calm it.
But at the same time he doesn't want to.
And so, Tsukishima takes a final leap to make a new beginning.
"I'm...I'm fine, seriously." He tries to convince the unconvinced Kageyama who was more difficult than him.
A soft sigh was heard from Tsukishima, "I'm telling the truth." With one last closed eyes he opens them but Kageyama's already looking back at him. "Trust me."
Silence enveloped around them, as Kageyama studies Tsukishima once more with suspicious eyes before crossing his arms once again and letting out his signature huff, "Okay," He tilts his head, "I trust you just this once."
Slowly but surely, the warmth spreads all around Tsukishima's every corner as if it was trying to tie Tsukishima in its bounds, not knowing that he'd been entangled with it since the beginning.
With sudden emotions come sudden actions, leaving Tsukishima helpless as he can feel a small familiar tug on the corners of his lips.
"I'm honored to earn it, then."
How can Tsukishima be so stupid to not know what he'd been longing for is just this, them, and maybe, hopefully, just Kageyama, all along.
please support this on ao3 as well if you can :D ;

Someone tried confessing to him by handing him a paper with the words "I like you" written on it but somehow he still didn't get the message despite the person repeatedly shoving the paper into his hands
— Asahi Azumane
He got separated from his friends while they were out and got lost, he then started vlogging his experience when some dogs scared him, he ended up falling onto the asphalt road from shock and broke his phone

Giving their crush their jacket - Tsukishima, Kageyama, Akaashi (mean boy edition)
A/N: OMG I’m sorry it’s so long, I got carried away :(
Tumblr media
TSUKISHIMA –
“What are you still doing here?” Tsukki would ask you this every time he sees you after practice
“Well, if I didn’t wait for you, who’s gonna walk you home? “I do not need to be walked home – “ “And who’s going to protect you if you get attacked by a random stranger in the street?” “That’s not even gonna – “ “Exactly. So let’s get going before it gets too dark.”
You’ll skip on ahead of him, and he’s glad you had your back turned to him because he did not want you seeing him smile. But he quickly pulls himself together because smiling is for fucking wimps, so he calls out a half-hearted “You’re so annoying.”
Tsukki usually spent most of the walk with his headphones in because he’s a ~rude boy~, but you never complained to him, so he supposes you didn’t mind.
He must have been a little extra distracted this time because one second you were next to him, and the next, he was walking by himself.
He quickly took his headphones and whipped his head back and forth trying to find where the hell you wandered off to
Then, from about twenty feet back, he sees you walking out of the nearest convenience store, looking around before running over to where he was waiting.
“You dickhead, you didn’t even wait for me.” “Well, you should have told me you were going in.” “I did! Pay attention once a while, why don’t you?!”
You shove a brown paper back into his hands, and he quirked his eyebrow. “Meat bun. I know you haven’t eaten since lunch time. Don’t deny it.”
He would have simped pretty hard for you right then and there, but he was too focused on the fact that your hands felt like literal icicles.
Were you seriously just wearing your school uniform? In the middle of winter?
“You better eat the whole thing,” you puff out.
Tsukki puts the brown paper bag between his teeth, dropped his bag on the floor, and shrugged off his school jacket. He quietly placed it around your shoulders, and he wonders if the redness on your cheeks were from him, or the cold.
“I’ll eat the whole thing if you promise you won’t forget your coat, idiot.”
Tumblr media
KAGEYAMA –
“Hinata, you DUMBASS – “ “Shut up, Bakayama! It’s not that bad!” “Not that bad?! She’s covered in your … your goop!”
Oh god, he did not just say that. Well, you couldn’t say that lunch with Hinata and Kageyama was uneventful
You looked down at your jacket, and sighed at the fact that you were now quite literally wearing Hinata’s lunch
Damn it, why did he have to bring curry today? It’s going to be difficult to get the smell out.
“Hinata,” you began sternly, taking a napkin and attempting to wipe off the sauce that was now surely seeping into the fabric. “You need to be more careful! Pay attention where you’re going instead of running around like a chicken without his head!”
Kageyama loved it when you lectured Hinata, but he couldn’t even take the time to enjoy it before he was brought back to the current situation, which is you very carefully taking your blazer off in front of him
“Here, don’t worry, I know what to do!” Hinata exclaimed, grabbing your jacket out of your hand
“Wait, don’t –“ and before you could do anything more about it, Hinata was bouncing off to god knows where, taking your only jacket with him.
You spent the rest of your lunch, covered in only the thin material of your school uniform, trying your hardest not to shiver.
Kageyama had asked you several times if you were okay, but you would always just smile tightly and nod.
When lunch had ended, and Hinata still hadn’t made it back, you begrudgingly began to pack your things so you could start the walk back to your class room, sans jacket.
“See you later, Kageyama – “ “Wait.”
He unzipped the duffel bag that sat on the floor beneath the table. After a moment of digging through, he finally found what he was looking for. He pulled out his sports jacket, and motioned for you to take it.
“Oh, that’s not necessary, Kags, I promise I’ll be – “ you tried to deny it, but Kageyama wasn’t having it.
“Take it. Please. I don’t like seeing you cold.”
Tumblr media
AKAASHI –
“Y/N-Senpai, it’s okay – “ “It’s the middle of winter! Please, take it. I would hate for you to walk home in the cold.”
Akaashi watched as you forced your scarf and jacket to the first year manager-in-training.
Practice was just about over, and you were showing her the normal closing routine; taking down nets, collecting all the volleyballs, turning off the lights.
Akaashi was usually forced to stay longer than the rest of the team by Bokuto, setting for the spiker until the very last second.
He didn’t mind though, at least it meant you weren’t alone
“What about you, senpai?” the first year asked, a little embarrassed at having been caught forgetting her winter coat.
“Don’t worry about me, your warmth is your senpai’s warmth!”
Akaashi wanted scoff – god, you were so cheesy.
You were always like that though, he noticed – giving Bokuto your last piece of mochi, letting Yukie copy your homework, making sure Konoha is never late for practice.
Finally, you had told them that it was really time to leave, ignoring Bokuto’s cries of protest so you could finally lock up the gym.
Akaashi watched as you sent off your kohai, wearing your jacket and your scarf, and you turned to make you own way home in just your gym clothes.
“Something wrong, Akaashi?” you asked, noticing the weird looks the setter gave you.
“Yes, something is wrong,” he admitted, taking off his own jacket before throwing it to you, the thick material landing on your face before you could catch it.
“You need to take care of yourself a little better.”
A/N: ugh i love doing these way too much

‘you could have anyone you want, why would you want to be with me?’
Tsukishima thought, watching as you finished telling him the story behind your broken nail, waving him goodbye before skipping over to the side of your boyfriend who just exited the changing rooms, probably to go tell him the exact same story.
Although your little stories annoyed the living hell out of him, it pained him to think that you’d share them with some cunt like Kageyama who probably didn’t give two shits.
It might’ve seemed like he was annoyed by your stories too but in reality, your natural charm was enough to keep him hooked on every word you uttered. And that charm was probably the reason you were liked and known by almost everyone in the school - and due to your appearance, it was no surprise that most guys at the school had their eyes set on you.
So this whole time Tsukishima was aware that there would be competition if he was going to ask you out.
‘you know, i’m nothing special. be with whoever you want.’
Tobio Kageyama. Number nine, Karasuno’s first line-up setter - Tsukishima’s teammate. Of course, Tsukishima felt quite bad that he resented Kageyama so much - all over a girl - but in his defence, that girl was (Y/N) and it’s not like Kageyama was humble about it either. In fact, he’d make it a point to talk about all the things he did with (Y/N) whenever he thought Tsukishima was in earshot.
Also, you can’t blame Tsukishima for thinking that you were too good for Kageyama.. because you are. The only reason you two were together was because all the girls started shipping you two together after a video of him as your partner for a rather titillating salsa routine started floating around the school.
The people saying that y’all would make a cute couple gave Kageyama the confidence to ask you out and of course you said yes; why wouldn’t you? Kageyama was the embodiment of everything girls loved: tall, atheletic, passionate (for volleyball), a himbo, cold and emotionally unavailable.
While Tsukishima was almost identical; he was 4 out of those 6 things that girls loved - he wasn’t a himbo, fortunately. Neither was he emotionally unavailable. You even said yourself one time - before you formally met Kageyama - that you just thought he was a flavourless version of Tsukishima.
‘i don’t care. i don’t care.’
Perhaps it was just his ego speaking but Tsukishima was almost certain that if he were to have asked you out before Kageyama, you would’ve said yes.
So, why didn’t he?
Well, he planned on asking you to be his girlfriend the same day that Kageyama did - Valentine’s Day - but at the last minute, he chickened out and the letter he had spent 3 hours making for you ended up in the trash. As for the chocolates he bought, he gave them to Yamaguchi. Curse his crippling insecurities!
To be fair, the only reason Kageyama had the confidence or any interest in you whatsoever was due to all the girls perpetuating the idea that y’all would be a cute couple.
Tsukishima sighed as he recalled the first time you ever interacted with Kageyama. You had a dance project which involved creating your own salsa routine and either filming yourself doing it or performing it in front of the class - you asked Tsukishima if he’d assist you by being your dance partner and obviously he said no. Your next best bet was Hinata, so you explained your situation to him and as you know; where ever there is Hinata, there is Kageyama. So he overheard your dilemma and apparently he took dance classes all throughout middle school so he offered to help. Although you had never talked to Kageyama before that day, you still accepted his offer due to the tricky situation you were in.
It frustrated Tsukishima so much at the thought that if he had just swallowed his pride and danced with you, he wouldn’t be feeling a striking pain in his chest at the sight of you intimately kissing Kageyama while he stood there like a statue.
Once he realised what he was doing, he immediately averted his eyes, a sigh escaping his lips as he tried to convince himself that he was neutral about what he just witnessed.
He didn’t care that you were dating someone who didn’t even care about you. He didn’t care about the fact he would’ve treated you ten times better than Kageyama ever could. He didn’t care about how close you were to Kageyama. He was simply unable to give a single fuck about the fact he still loved you.
‘i don’t wanna know. don’t tell me about your problems if you’re not trying to solve them.’
“And then I told him to fuck off and my mum got all mad and she was like ‘don’t swear at a 6 year-old!’ but then I was like, ‘Mum, he literally-”
Tsukishima rolled his eyes, you’ve been rambling to him about your shitty experiences babysitting for a good few minutes now but he was simply unable to pay attention. Not when every time he thought of you, his mind instantly focussed on the bruise you had on your neck which he had merely caught a glimpse of this morning, but that was enough to make him feel sick to his stomach. “Do you ever stop talking? Why not tell these stories to someone who cares? Where’s Kageyama?”
You pouted, crossing your arms over your chest and leaning back in your chair - by now, you were used to him being a bitch to you but recently, he’s been acting especially rude, even Yamaguchi was taken back at how uncalled for his remark was.  “Did I do something wrong? Why are you so mean all of a sudden?”
Something about your disappointed tone made Tsukishima’s heart sink, although he wasn’t sure why that was considering he undoubtedly didn’t care about how you felt - you could start crying for all he cared.
“You’re just way more annoying than you used to be.” That was the first excuse Tsukishima could come up with but if he was being completely honest, he didn’t even notice his change in behaviour. “It’s probably all that time hanging out shittyama.”
“Tsukki!” Yamaguchi snapped, hunching forward over his table to flick his blonde friend on the back of his neck. “I agree with (Y/N), you’ve been kinda crass lately.”
You nodded at Yamaguchi’s statement, “Emphasis on the ass.”
It took every bone in Tsukishima’s body to resist snickering at your stupid comment and keep a straight face, “Can you blame me? (Y/N) is the one who never stops complaining like geez, get a grip - nobody cares.”
‘don’t ask me for my help. fix it yourself.’
Honestly, Tsukishima wasn’t surprised when you ended up calling him at 1am, crying about how Kageyama cheated on you.
I mean, it was clear that he was only with you for sexual relief as he didn’t show the slightest bit of romantic interest in anyone - and you were too blinded by puppy love to notice that his perception didn’t widen beyond volleyball.
In a way, Tsukishima felt quite bad for you as this was your first relationship and anybody would be heartbroken if they were cheated on but somehow he had managed to gaslight himself into believing that he truly didn’t give a fuck about how you felt. That’s why the call definitely didn’t go as well as he hoped.
“Kei..” You spoke in a low voice in hopes that he wouldn’t realise that you were crying straight away but your faint sobs were a dead giveaway. “Are you busy?”
Tsukishima grumbled, sitting up on his bed and sliding his glasses up his nose, not having taken them off as just before you called him he was scrolling through Reddit anyway. “Eh? What is so important that you had to call me at 3 in the morning?”
“Kageyama cheated on me!” You wailed into your phone, struggling to keep it together even when you weren’t with Tsukishima face-to-face. “S-Sorry I called you. I just, um, I just needed to tell someone and the first person I thought of was you.” That wasn’t a complete lie. I mean, you did try calling Yamaguchi before you resorted to calling Tsukishima because Yamaguchi would undeniably be more compassionate in this situation. However, if it wasn’t for Tsukishima’s recent attitude problems, you probably would’ve called him first,
Upon hearing you say that, his heart fluttered - this should’ve been the first giveaway that he still liked you - but he chose to ignore it, sticking to the idea that you annoyed him and he definitely did not want to kiss your forehead, cuddle you under his sheets and reassure you that you’re out of Kageyama’s league anyway.
“Sorry, (Y/N).” Tsukishima spoke softly. This change of tone giving you the slightest bit of hope that you had finally managed to get through to him and maybe he was going to stop being so insolent and go back to being his old self - the Tsukishima that people actually liked.
“Kei..” You mused, feeling your cheeks heat up at how nice and soothing his tired voice sounded. “I thi--”
“But that doesn’t sound like my problem. Good luck in dealing with it yourself, though.”
With that last comment, he hung up, leaving you more upset than you were to begin with.
‘she tried to call me yesterday but i didn’t pick up because i don’t got time.’
Tension was high at practice. Word had gotten out that Kageyama cheated on (L/N) and of course everyone’s opinion on him did a full 180 - nobody wants to train with a dirty cheater.
This news should’ve been the highlight of Tsukishima’s month because not only is (Y/N) back on the market, Kageyama is getting the treatment he deserved for being so horrible to him and (Y/N).
However, Tsukishima was far from pleased with everyone’s behaviour towards Kageyama because now they were all expecting confrontation and since Tsukishima was the one who already had beef with Kageyama, the team thought it would be best if it was him who approached the setter about the recent event.
A horrible idea, in Tsukishima’s opinion. It wasn’t even the fact that he didn’t want to go any where near that milkboy but mostly because he didn’t even know what he’d say to the guy. What do you say in that situation? ‘Hey, man. We’d really appreciate it if you stopped being such a whore. It’s really killing the vibe.’
But lo and behold, here he was, standing across from Kageyama in the empty changing room. Desperately wracking through his brain to find the most appropriate thing to say, which was hard as Kageyama’s stare seemed to burn holes through Tsukishima’s glasses. Also, his mind was already pretty occupied by all the thoughts of how badly he wanted to beat the milkboy to the ground in (Y/N)’s honour.
“What do you want, Tiredshima?” Kageyama inquired, scrunching up his empty milk box and casually throwing it aside, aiming for the bin but it ended up landing a few inches away from it.
Tsukishima tried to resist laughing at the milkboy’s failed attempt to look cool, “It’s-” Tsukishima wheezed slightly as a little bit of that laughter escaped before he took a moment to properly compose himself, “It’s about (Y/N)-”
At the mere mention of your name, the milkboy dipped.
“Uh, where the fuck do you think you’re going?” Tsukishima spat, hastily reaching out to grab Kageyama’s wrist, yanking him back as soon as Tsukishima got a good grip on him. Resulting in the usually agile setter losing his balance and falling back, right onto his ass.
“Don’t touch me!” Kageyama roared, rapidly scrambling to his feet, clenching his fist and snarling at Tsukishima who wore an astounded expression. “Do you have it out for me or something? What does (Y/N) have to do with anything?”
It was shocking how well Kageyama managed to paint the situation to make it seem like he was the innocent one when he was the one who broke a poor school girl’s heart after she showed him nothing but love - but Tsukishima wasn’t one to talk since he probably just added salt to her wound, like he always does, and he’d been thinking about it all night.
“Sorry, your highness, but maybe if you hopped off your throne for a moment and came down to reality to join the rest of us, you’d realise that the world doesn’t revolve around you. Do you know how much your shitty actions affected (Y/N)? She called me crying last night and..yeah.” His voice slowly drifted off as he remembered the events that occurred yesterday, you had called him in a vulnerable state and he simply told you to get to fuck.
Kageyama scoffed, brushing off the dust that clung to his clothes from when he was pulled to the ground, “Eh? Maybe you should practise what you preach.” Kageyama growled, baring his teeth - the little nickname Tsukishima had for him seriously made his blood boil. “She’d come to me on the verge of tears because you called her annoying and she thought you didn’t want to be her friend anymore.”
Tsukishima felt his heart tear apart at the thought of himself causing you so much emotional distress but you were half right, he didn’t want to be your friend - the wanted to be your boyfriend. If it wasn’t for a certain setter who’s name starts with ‘K’ and ends with ‘ageyama’, none of this would’ve happened and you’d happily be snuggled up in his arms while he played with your hair but no, Kageyama just had to get his dirty little setter hands on anything good.
“I mean,” Kageyama muttered, having clearly calmed down from five seconds ago, “She was kinda annoying, so I get why you’d say that. That’s why I did what I did, it wasn’t meant to spite her or hurt her feelings. You get what I mean, right?”
The ignorance; it made Tsukishima indescribably mad. (Y/N) wasn’t annoying - although Tsukishima might’ve heavily insinuated it, in the past - and the audacity Kageyama had to say that she was. Also, who in their right mind thinks that cheating is a rational reaction to irritation?
Tsukishima wouldn’t consider himself a violent person but it was as though the bones in his body acted on their own when he delivered a full-force punch straight onto Kageyama’s cheek. And he didn’t regret it for a moment either - even when the milkboy starting pummelling him into the ground - as he figured that someone had to teach the dick a lesson, why not himself?
‘i don’t have time. i don’t have time. i don’t have time. i don’t have time.’
“Kei..hello? I know I’m probably the last person you want to see right now but Yamaguchi told me that you were here and..I just wanted you to know that I, uh, am really sorry and I hope you get well soon.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here you go! @tobiovic
Take Me Seriously
Pairing: Reader x Tobio Kageyama
Genre: Angst to Fluff
He thinks she’s the reason he’ll be ridiculed, but Kageyama soon discovers that he’s okay with that, as long as he gets to be with her.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Thanks again, Y/N!” Yachi smiles. Y/N had seen Yachi struggle to carry a bunch of water bottles in her arms and had offered to help. They were now making their way to the gym, and Y/N was unusually excited.
She would get to see her boyfriend, Tobio, practising for the first time. She had asked him if she could come to watch plenty of times before, but the request had always been shot down quickly, with him insisting that he wouldn’t be able to focus if she was there. She was curious to see him play.
Y/N opens the gym doors with her free hand and steps in, holding the door open for Yachi, who quickly thanks her. She hears thumps of rubber on skin and yells, the moment she steps in. She scans the court and her eyes quickly find Kageyama, who’s arms are above his head, a look of pure concentration on his face as he prepares to set to Tanaka.
She watches, a little impressed by how hard the ball hits the other side of the court. A loud bang behind her causes her to yelp and nearly drop the bottles. The door had shut a little too hard due to the wind, gaining the attention of everyone in the gym.
Suddenly, everyone’s eyes are on her. She goes a little red at the attention and waves awkwardly. Locking eyes with her boyfriend, who has a look of disbelief on his face, her smile fades a little. Was he not happy to see her?
Hinata is the one who breaks the silence. “Y/N? What are you doing here?” he asks cheerfully.
“I was just helping Yachi bring these to you guys.” She nods at the bottles, walking over and placing them on the bench. She shared a few classes with Hinata, being a first year herself.
“Well, you’ve done it. You can leave now.” Kageyama says bluntly, to which she feels a little hurt. Sugawara rolls his eyes and says. “Play nice.” He walks over to Y/N, a sweet smile on his face.
“You’re welcome to stay, of course!” he says, to which she grins and nods.
“Y-yeah! We’d like it if you stayed!” Nishinoya slides next to Y/N, giving her a thumbs up. Something about Nishinoya and Tanaka looking at you like they were, and their close proximity irked Kageyama, so he does the most rational thing he can think of.
Walking over to her, he slings an arm around Y/N and pulls her away from them. She stumbles a little, putting a hand on his chest to steady herself. “Tobio?”
There’s a second of silence, where the others wonder why the setter would grab Y/N like that, then:
“Tobio?” comes Tsukishima's voice. Kageyama can already see that annoying smirk forming on the middle blockers face. “You call him Tobio?”
“I mean. I think it’s fine to call my boyfriend by his first name.” She laughs a little, looking up at him. Again, he looks tense, avoiding her gaze.
The room falls into chaos after her statement. Shouts of, “Boyfriend?”, “You’re his girl?”, “How?” and “When?” fill the room, as the others look between the couple, back and forth, trying to make sense of the new information. Kageyama had a girlfriend? Since when?
“How much did he pay you to say that?” The others stifle a laugh at Tsukishima’s remark. The teasing continues, and Y/N frowns when she feels his grip tighten around her waist. Looking up he sees her avoiding their gaze with a clenched jaw. She can just make out the faint pink creeping up his ears.
It’s only when Daichi raises his voice, telling them to go back to the game, that they snicker and go back to practising. Y/N makes herself comfortable on the bench, talking to the two managers, occasionally catching glimpses of her boyfriend. She admires his form, and the focused look on his face when he’s setting up the ball. The precision he has when handling the ball is impressive, even to Y/N who was the least familiar with volleyball in the room.
Kageyama clenches his jaw in silent frustration when he accidentally sets one of the balls too high. It skims the top of Hinata’s fingers, before bouncing on the ground near Daichi.
“Nervous Y/N’s going to see you screw up?” Tsukishima smirks at him, to which he tells the blonde to shut up.
As Daichi picks up the ball, he checks the time. “That should be enough for today. Let’s start packing up.” There’s little protest as the team starts putting the net away, and going to change. Y/N waits patiently on the bench, grinning and going to Kageyama when he comes out of the changing room.
“I didn’t realise you were this talented at volleyball! I don’t even know much about it, but even I can see that you were awesome!” His face goes a light shade of pink and he mutters a thanks, pushing past her to grab his bag. She doesn’t understand why he’s acting so cold towards her. Sure, Kageyama could be clueless and stoic sometimes, but he was rarely ever this cold towards her. Maybe he was just tired. Yeah, that’s it, she convinces herself, shaking off the uneasy feeling she had. As far as she knew, Y/N hadn't done anything wrong.
The team ends up walking together to the school gates. Y/N is the main star for the day, as everyone wants to talk to her and see how Kageyama Tobio’s girlfriend is like. She laughs good-naturedly at their questions and answers them. Y/N is genuinely having a good time. She doesn’t know why he insisted she not attend his practises. These people were so fun to be around. Kageyama, however, is on the other end. He walks with a slight scowl on his face, next to Y/N.
A few minutes later, Y/N notices his silence and reaches over to loop her arm around his like they usually did when walking.
She’s understandably upset when he pushes her away, giving her an annoyed look.
The others don’t seem to notice the little interaction, opting to talk amongst themselves with their usual banter. Y/N doesn’t talk much the rest of the way.
Eventually the group gets smaller as people break away, going their own ways home.
“Don’t let him push you around, Y/N!” Hinata grins over his shoulder as he parts ways with them. Y/N shakes her head playfully as he walks away with his bike, and then it’s just the two of them. The lively atmosphere from before completely dissipates and is replaced with tension. After a few good minutes of Kageyama saying nothing, Y/N breaks the silence.
“What’s wrong?”
She’s met with silence.
“I haven’t done anything, so I don’t get why you’re mad at me.”
Silence.
“Tobio.”
He doesn’t even glance at her.
“Tobio!” she grabs his arm, halting the both of them to a stop. They’re standing under a street lamp, which illuminated the spot, almost as if shining a spotlight on them. In the light, Y/N can clearly see his annoyed expression, and though she was used to his sulky moods, she didn’t know what had caused this one.
“Tell me what’s wrong. Please.” She frowns.
“I told you not to come to practise.” he finally sighs.
“Why not? I wanted to meet your team anyway. Is it a crime for me to want to see you do something you're passionate about?” she tilts her head questioningly.
“No, no it’s just...they…” he struggles, not being very good at vocalising his feelings. “I don’t like not being treated seriously.” he finally mutters, gaze dropping to the ground.
“Oh. It was the teasing, wasn’t it?”
He nods once.
“Come here.” she mumbles, pulling him to her, wrapping her arms around her. He is a bit stiff at first, but relaxes quickly, burning his face into her hair, taking deep breaths. They stay there in silence for a few seconds, soaking in each other's presence. It wasn’t often he let her show him this level of affection in public.
She finally pulls away and meets his eyes. “They were just joking around. From what I saw on the court, they don’t treat you like you’re inferior, even if you're one of the youngest.” He holds her gaze. “If you really think they don’t treat you seriously when I’m around then...I’ll hold off showing up to your practises.”
“It’s not your fault.” he says. “I play better when you’re around, anyway.” He had noticed during the practise, that his sets had been more accurate than usual, which was saying something. The need to impress Y/N, even though he was iffy about her watching him, was always there.
“I just want to show that I support you.” she smiles softly, to which he melts a little on the inside. Not that he would ever show it.
“Thank you. I’m sorry for upsetting you today.” His apology is genuine as he remembers the hurt look on her face when he yanked his arm out of her grapes earlier.
She shakes her head, assuring him that she was fine, before pulling him along to keep walking. They slip into a much more comfortable silence, and when they reach Y/N’s doorstep, she invites him inside. He hesitates, before accepting.
They end up napping together on the couch, with Kageyama holding her close to him. He admires her sleeping form, and brushes a strand of hair away from her face. As he holds her, he thinks that maybe he could bear the teasing a little while longer.
Requests are Open and Welcome

Kageyama, Tanaka, and Daichi When Their Younger Sister is Dating Someone from the Volleyball Team
Anonymous said:
Hello can you please write hcs for how Kageyama, Tanaka, and Daichi would react to finding out that their younger sister is dating someone from the volleyball team ? I feel like they’d have the most reaction from the team lol
they definitely would have a big reaction, i agree with you!!! this was really funny to think about aha. lots of protective big bro headcanons ahead! i hope you like them because i spent a bit too much time on them and they almost morphed into actual scenarios lmao so please let me know what you think! ♡
Tumblr media
Kageyama Tobio
This idiot is so focused on himself and volleyball that he would barely even think to worry about what was going on in your life.
Sure, you guys shared snippets of your day as you tossed a volleyball back and forth in your backyard during the evenings, but most of the time he was so tired from afternoon practice that he just wanted to eat dinner and crash (you had to shake him awake and drag him out of bed several times to remind him to do his homework because you were just that nice to him ♡ he didn’t seem to appreciate it though).
You didn’t always need verbal communication though because the comfortable silences of your walks home and the way you always slipped each other snacks whenever one of you was up late (you usually studying for a test the next day while he was just staying up late for the novelty of it all—laying down in bed and tossing a volleyball above his head, watching volleyball videos, staring out the window dramatically thinking about volleyball… you get the idea).
For all you knew about each other and your routines, Tobio seemed unable to even think about change in a context that included you—you were his little sister and it would always stay that way, and he was caught up in his own life and the changes he had to go through to grow. You were meant to be a constant.
That’s probably why he was the last person to expect you getting in a relationship—and with someone from his team no less.
Popping your head into the gym one day—holding a bag of meat buns you had bought for him and he had forgotten on the counter at home—turned into a regular routine once his teammates seemed to take a liking to you.
They bombarded you with teasing questions about the “King” and his personal life, and you were asked how it felt to be “royalty” (“Nice one, Tsukki,” Yamaguchi snickered at some point in response to that).
You stole glances out of the corner of your eye at Tobio aggressively chugging water on the sidelines and hiding his flustered face, finding him looking back at you intently. You gave him a knowing smile and it was as though another silent pact was formed.
You made small jabs at your brother as you joked around with the teammates, but you always steered the conversation away from topics you just knew he would throw a volleyball at your head later for answering.
Lighthearted conversations were always expected when you paid short visits to the gym, and the overexcited members always immediately abandoned their drills to talk to you, earning them quite the earful from Coach Ukai, although that never seemed to stop them.
But then your visits started getting longer and longer until suddenly you were staying for the entire afternoon practice sessions whenever you had time and even helping with manager duties on the side. You had always gone to your brother’s games (he forced you to come, even if you protested that you had already made plans with your friends that day) so you weren’t all that interested in what he was up to because you had dealt enough with his self-obsessed phase in middle school.
However, you were interested in Tobio’s latest move—just not the Tobio part. The infamous quick was now all yours to see up close and while the genius setting abilities of your brother came at no surprise to you, you couldn’t help but go slack jawed every time you saw the energetic orange-haired boy Tobio always bickered with leaping into the air.
(Actually, you were still in awe of your brother, but you were reluctant to admit it and inflate his ego so you stayed quiet. Also, you wanted to take the time to admire other volleyball players too, not the same one you had been cheering for for years. Tobio seemed to understand your emotions without you needing to explain them though and didn’t take them to heart—you two just knew things like that about one another.)
The game moved fast, as volleyball had the tendency to do, but even as you watched the practice matches and drills, your eyes locked onto the short player each and every time he sprung into the air, hair flying and arm drawn back for a powerful spike.
Hinata Shouyou—his name was about all the useful information you got out of Tobio when you asked him later during the walk home before he went back to complaining about how Hinata can’t do this and Hinata can’t do that. You rolled your eyes and tuned him out—just sibling things, you know.
Thank God he had told you that at least because you had embarrassingly forgotten a majority of the team’s names after they hurriedly introduced themselves when they first met you and then never made an effort to remind you of their names afterwards.
Hinata wasn’t the only one you had your eyes on though.
Tsukishima Kei—tall and blonde with a feisty attitude that was strangely alluring, mainly because he managed to get under Tobio’s skin almost better than you ever could. His blocks were clearly calculated, and his demeanor was cool and effortless, or snarky when he wanted it to be. His height definitely helped his cause (both in volleyball and in you noticing him).
The first year Tobio seemed to talk to the least was Yamaguchi Tadashi, but only because he wasn’t a regular in the volleyball rotation and Tobio tended to have a one track mind that included not paying attention to those he didn’t need to. You saw the boy practicing his floating serves though and you were instantly hooked. The way the ball effortlessly fluttered to the ground once he served it over the net? Way cooler than whatever Tobio was doing (once again, an exaggeration, but you didn’t want to fawn over your older brother that already knew he was a genius). You couldn’t believe you had been missing out on seeing all this action just because Yamaguchi wasn’t a regular.
Since Tobio was constantly stirring up trouble with the others in his grade, you ended up getting to know the other three pretty well at first, but soon you become well acquainted with the other players and the upperclassmen.
The older members of the club moved with a certain grace and sureness that came from pure experience with the sport for so long, and you were drawn to the way they built up a solid foundation for the underclassmen, filling the holes where Tobio and the others stumbled and made mistakes.
The entire team was amazing to you. It was breathtaking to watch them play now that you weren’t bound to sitting in the stands at some tournament, and you found your eyes darting about constantly throughout the game.
Everyone there was definitely amazing, each in their own special way. This is what Tobio had been keeping you from when he said not to come to his practices because he thought you’d just get in the way?
You made sure to let Tobio know how lame you thought he was afterwards and he gave you a punch in your arm in reply as he sipped from a milk box on your walk home, scowling before turning back contently to focus on his drink.
You admiration of the Karasuno boys wasn’t one-sided at all though, and they thought you were an absolute joy to be around, whether it be your helpful nature when it came to offering your assistance to Kiyoko (Tanaka and Nishinoya were especially a fan of that one), your sweetness in complementing them whenever they perfected a technique, or the way you could easily joke around with them as though you had known them from the start. Even Tsukishima had to admit you weren’t that bad.
If you were dating Hinata, Tobio would most likely find out when Hinata kept messing up his quicks whenever you were watching—wanting to impress you but also getting too overexcited and losing focus. Cue the arguing between them until Tsukishima made a snide comment about Hinata wanting to impress his girlfriend—you.
“What the hell? No??? Why would you even say that about my sister, you idiot?” Now Tobio was all up in Tsukishima’s face, eyebrows furrowed in anger. “She would never date a dumbass like him, right?” At that he turned to you, ready for your instant confirmation—but then you hesitated and he started to get worried. “Right?” he asked again, this time almost pleadingly.
Tsukishima snickered at your brother’s crestfallen expression when you shook your head, not knowing how else to answer, and Tobio knew it was all over. He snatched Hinata up by the collar of his shirt faster than lightning and shook him in the air, yelling at him because what the fuck.
Hinata managed to wiggle out of Tobio’s grasp and shoved him back, saying that you actually liked him and it’s not like he blackmailed you or anything so what’s the big deal.
The rest of the team had to break up the fight before it got out of hand and the two of them had to be separated for a while to cool down. During all of this, Tsukishima was standing next to you, watching with an amused expression while you were simply in shock because you had no idea what had just happened.
Tobio bombarded you with a lot of questions on the walk home about why Hinata of all people and you had to explain to him that you don’t get to chose who you love because if you did you wouldn’t choose someone you knew would deliberately piss him off (he thought that was pretty stupid because just like he chose to play volleyball, you could choose not to date Hinata—sigh, he really doesn’t understand these things).
Tobio and Hinata had a lot of competitions after that to settle it once and for all who you liked better out of both of them.
(“She chose to date me, dummy!” Hinata would shout.)
(“I’m literally her brother! I’ve known her longer!” came Tobio’s reply, slightly out of breath because their latest competition involved seeing who could run the farthest and the fastest—as if that was an accurate representation of how much you liked someone.)
Tobio would keep a careful eye on Hinata and you, and there would definitely be lots of bickering between the two, although that was normal.
He would mellow out at some point and become less intense about trying to get rid of Hinata and break you two up, but if you two ever showed PDA in front of him Tobio would make sure to grumble and huff as he watched it happened, or turn away and cross his arms—if you ignored him, he would just keep doing it louder until you noticed and were forced to stop because talk about mood ruiner.
When Tobio is just completely over it and is just like ‘whatever, I guess this is happening now,’ he’ll actually tell Hinata that he… kind of trusts him with you, and Hinata would be all shiny eyed and sparkly at the complement and reassure him that he’ll do his best to always keep you happy.
There may even be a time where you’re feeling sad, perhaps after a fight, and Hinata hesitates—wondering if he should run after you, if he should bother pursuing you, if you even really want to see him again—and Tobio would be there, arms crossed and raising one eyebrow as he looks down at him.
“What are you waiting for? Go after her, stupid.”
Hinata, lost expression being replaced with one of surprise, would shift to peer up at him. “Wha- You really mean it?”
Tobio would turn away, forcing the grumpiest expression on his face possible. “Well, yeah… you’re her boyfriend. That’s your job. She wouldn’t listen to me anyway.”
With Hinata’s spirit reinvigorated, he was quick to run off after your retreating figure, shouting back at Tobio that he won’t let him down. Your brother couldn’t help but crack a smile at that.
For the love of God, do not date Tsukishima if you don’t want Tobio to disown you.
Tsukishima wouldn’t really care much about being public with your relationship—to him, who knows knows, and who doesn’t just doesn’t, simple as that. And it wasn’t like you were itching to tell your brother you were basically dating his arch nemesis (okay, that’s dramatic, but it felt like your life had become some dramatic secret—a soap opera brought to life —and you were living a double life by keeping this a secret from your brother), so Tobio basically knew nothing for quite a while. Tsukishima also didn’t show too much PDA in general so your brother remained oblivious.
That is until Tobio and Tsukishima got into another argument and Tsukishima was getting so annoyed that he just let it slip, using it as leverage to get a leg up on Tobio.
Tobio immediately clammed up and went stone-faced, mainly just at the mere thought of that, not because he was accepting it as his reality. But then he watched Tsukishima’s smirk grow and he broke out of his trance, definitely being like, “What the fuck??? She’s not dating you and I will beat you up for saying that you fucking idiot.”
Tsukishima found it sooo funny how Tobio was fuming and gave you a smug look from the sidelines. Oh boy, Tobio did not like that and was like, “Hey??? I’m talking to you, pay attention to me and don’t look at her!!! I bet she hates you!!!”
Even Hinata wanted to get in on the action, and of course Yamaguchi didn’t want his best friend to get ganged up on so he stepped in and started listing off all off Tsukishima’s good qualities that were definitely likable enough to date him.
It was getting embarrassing just how much Tsukishima had made Tobio lose his cool, so you had to step in and diffuse the situation, although no one could step away from the argument until they knew the truth so, begrudgingly, you told them that yes, you were dating Tsukishima. That didn’t really help much though because Tobio was still losing it and arguing with Yamaguchi because Tsukishima didn’t feel the need to defend himself and now Hinata was asking you if Tsukishima had blackmailed you into saying that.
To pour gas on the already flaming and wildly out of control fire, Tsukishima went up to you while the others were distracted and gave you a kiss on the forehead right in front of everyone—absolutely no shame. Oh my god, it was a whole mess and a half and everything was falling apart.
You have no idea how, but everyone calmed down at some point, although there was a lot of tension as practice continued. Things were fairly back to normal the next day once everyone had time to sleep on the issue and come to terms with it on their own.
Tsukishima loves throwing it in Tobio’s face and it’s horrible, yes, but you have to admit it’s sort of funny at times and you still love your boyfriend regardless.
Tobio goes back to hating Tsukishima even more for a while (and they had been making some progress with their relationship too so talk about a major step back), but after a while of silently fuming in his room every day for almost two weeks, he’s mostly normal again. Definitely still eyes Tsukishima suspiciously whenever he so much as looks in your direction though and reminds you that you were not supposed to date until you were like fifty (you had never agreed to or even heard of that rule before for that matter so that was a nice surprise).
Generally expect Tobio to give you guys a hard time for way too long before he sees some instance of Tsukishima actually being very caring and helping you out of an emotional rut whenever Tobio is unavailable to do so, and then his opinion of your boyfriend shifts into a somewhat favorable light. Don’t expect too much from him though.
And, well, if you were with Yamaguchi? That’s a little too close to Tsukishima for Tobio’s liking, but at least it’s slightly better.
There’s literally no way Tobio would really find out unless one of you explicitly told him. Yamaguchi might confide in Tsukishima about his relationship and there might be a chance Tsukishima uses it against Tobio in an argument, but generally he would probably decide that it’s not his place to say anything.
Tobio already doesn’t interact with Yamaguchi all that much anyway and their relationship is mostly fine (minus the times he joins Tsukishima in being a major pain in Tobio’s ass), so there’s no chance of your boyfriend blurting it out on his own in the heat of the moment either. He’s also too shy for PDA most of the time, so everything is very much hidden.
It actually starts to get ridiculous when you’ve been dating for months though and Tobio still hasn’t realized. You decide that it’s important for your brother and your boyfriend to be on better terms with each other if this relationship was going to last—which you most certainly hoped it would—so you were forced to take matters into your own hands.
Sitting Tobio down at the kitchen table, all serious with your hands neatly folded in front you, you would break the news. Tobio’s fidgeting and complaining about how this was stupid and why couldn’t you just talk to him in his room, ugh, would all fall away instantly while he processes the news.
“…Really?”
“Yeah.”
Tobio would still argue with Tsukishima whenever he was with both you and Yamaguchi, telling the blond to “back the fuck off, you overgrown bean sprout,” but he would also look to the root of the problem and take a special interest in harassing your timid boyfriend.
Although Tobio could be intimidating at times, Yamaguchi had seen it all before, so he does his best not to be freaked out when Tobio starts directing threatening glares at him instead of at Hinata or Tsukishima like normal.
After seeing that Yamaguchi is the pure definition of harmless though, Tobio would try not to keep a cold exterior, since his protectiveness didn’t seem to be doing much anyway because there was nothing to fix when it came to worrying about Yamaguchi hurting you, and would slowly try to get closer to your boyfriend. Forcing out compliments when it came to his serves, giving him little tips along the way, and making sure to greet him and bid him farewell every practice.
It was awkward at first because he was clearly trying to force the friendship for your sake, but when you told him to just be himself because he was freaking Yamaguchi out, that seemed to do the trick and it was now a mixture between his earlier aloof behavior and his newer friendly one. A happy medium.
Yamaguchi knew that he didn’t need shining compliments from Tobio every second of the day to know that he had accepted him as your boyfriend and he was fine with that—that was just how Tobio was—plus Yamaguchi was really here for you, not your brother, so it didn’t matter much anyway.
Things were pretty mild between them, although Tobio would occasionally let Yamaguchi know that he… appreciated (yes, he had to choke it out) what he was doing for you and all that jazz.
Dating one of the upperclassmen would be a much less chaotic affair, and you would probably go about things the “mature” way and tell Tobio about your relationship near the start, rather than waiting a long time like the Yamaguchi situation, or having someone else tell him like the Hinata and Tsukishima situations. The upperclassmen are also generally more mature than those in Tobio’s grade—even Tanaka and Nishinoya would have a bit of sanity in this situation—so they would say it’s up to you if and when you want to let your brother know.
When you tell him, Tobio will kind of blink at you for a bit, just absorbing that fact because you looked dead serious.
“Don’t think you can just boss me around during practice now.”
“I do that anyway, so shut up.”
He wouldn’t know what to say to your boyfriend—yeah, he wants to be all like don’t mess with my sister, but also they’re older than him and he’s supposed to be respectful or he’ll be forced to run extra laps as punishment while Hinata laughs at him from the sidelines—so the first few practices after you tell him just end up with him studying your boyfriend very intensely from across the gym while tightly clutching a volleyball. It’s very unnerving and your boyfriend begs you to talk some sense into Tobio because he is ruining their concentration so bad and Coach Ukai is definitely considering if he should have them do extra drills to make up for it and they do not want that.
In order to save your boyfriend from such a fate, you encourage both him and Tobio to talk it over. It consists of your boyfriend doing the typical upperclassmen thing of being very reassuring while at the same time being very overbearing with their intense presence and Tobio is sweating because this is your boyfriend, don’t say anything weird or you’ll hate him forever, just keep cool.
He’s not usually one to be that worried about this sort of thing, but no matter which upperclassmen it is and no matter what kind of relationship he had with them before, he’s going to be very stoic and try to come to terms with the fact that you’re actually dating them.
While your boyfriend is all like “Don’t worry! I’ll take care of her!” and “Sorry, I know this is a little weird, but I really do like her!,” Tobio’s like “mhm,” “yeah,” “okay” so to the untrained eye he seems very nonchalant about the whole thing, but internally his mind is working a mile a minute. He probably starts sweating a little and your boyfriend is like, “Uh, you okay?” and he’s just like “mhm, yeah,” while sweat starts dripping down his forehead and he feels like he’s going to go into cardiac arrest.
Rather than the conversation between the two consisting of Tobio asserting his dominance as your brother and threatening your boyfriend, it’s just him being forced to accept his fate while your boyfriend says his piece and is like “Wow, I’m so glad you’re okay with it!” at the end of it all.
You try to minimize PDA because your brother looks like he’s going to blow a fuse anytime he witnesses it and always turns away very embarrassed, blushing furiously. Come on, you can’t really blame him. Like when did his little sister grow up so fast? Uh, a long time ago, you moron, stop being so focused on yourself.
He makes an extra effort to ask more about your life now and wants to know everything, so now your usual routine silences or shallow talks have turned into midnight discussions either in one of your bedrooms, lightly tossing volleyball back and forth, or in the kitchen as you two sit at the table and binge eat snacks.
That actually helps him a lot with coming to terms that yes, you have your own life and it’s just as important as his volleyball one and that he should really make an effort to keep up with you. He feels really bad that it took him so long to realize that you were even dating someone and after getting your perspective on the matter, he comes to accept it, trusting them to do a good job because he’s seen what they can do on the court and for the team and has known them firsthand for quite a while.
Dating anyone on the team would have its fair share of ups and down and bumps in the road, but it’ll also be a great wake up call for your sometimes too-dense-for-words brother and actually end up strengthening your relationship in the long run, especially because now he knows you have someone reliable to lean on whenever he falls short.

Tanaka Ryuunosuke
Oh man, your entire life was just filled with him constantly butting into your personal life, playing the big scary guy at anyone who looked at you funny and always asking if there were any so called “punks” you wanted him to beat up (the answer was always a firm “Ryuu, no” because you didn’t want him to get in trouble, but you always looked at him with a sparkle of admiration in your eye at his bravery).
Just like with Saeko, he’d get embarrassed when you showed him affection sometimes, or would kick you out of his room if he had his friends over (your teasing revealed one too many embarrassing personal secrets of his that his friends made fun of him for ages for).
He still made his love clear through his protectiveness though and he wasn’t any stranger to giving you a good-natured pat on the head in public. Basically, as long as it didn’t ruin his tough guy appearance (he said that reputation was important and that he had to keep it up so that no one would even think about messing with you in the slightest), he would be very clear of his pride in your achievements and just how much you meant to him. This meant it was mainly at home or in private that he would flip the switch and give you hugs, or get started with comments of “look how much my pupil is growing” (you punched his arm when he said things like that, but you were always grinning when you did so).
(His overly affectionate moments were mainly to get back at you for teasing him in front of his friends and he gave you the same treatment, but he also really did mean it.)
He taught you how to be “tough” (hence the “pupil” nickname sometimes and the feeling he had of taking you under his wing) and you eagerly studied him with shining admiration because he was your cool older brother after all.
You were always in the know about each others lives and while he ranted to you about volleyball and school, you let him know about how you totally put some kid in their place today in class like he taught you to or if you needed his advice for things (as much as you liked to make fun of each other, you still looked up to him and his “worldly” experience that simply came from being older, plus he was very attentive when it came to solving problems in your life and giving you his input).
Finally the day came that you two were reunited and going to the same school once again when you started your first year at Karasuno. Ryuu gave you a pep talk before you went inside about what to expect of high schoolers and reminded you that the same rules still applied and that if you needed him to take anyone on for you he was just one floor away (he cracked his knuckles for good measure at that)—he reassured you that you were never too old to rely on your big bro.
Despite your protests, he decided to walk you to class on the first day, saying it was on his way to his own class anyway. He spent the walk bragging about how he was a second year now and how it was so nostalgic to walk in the first year halls now and how he remembered this and that in the hallways (he pointed to specific spots as he recalled the memories of sitting on the floor for lunch with his friends, or telling you something hilarious he spotted from the windows one day), and while you rolled your eyes and reminded him that he had been a first year just a few months ago (he shushed you when you said that), you listened with rapt interest, wondering what your own high school career would end up looking like. He also gave pointed glares to several students you passed by in the hallways, especially the guys, and made sure to loudly repeat how you must be so glad to have a second year who can fight as your older and protective brother, relishing in the way some of the first years gulped in fear.
It wasn’t long until you two reached your classroom, and you lingered just outside the doorway with him, ready to say your final goodbyes as you got ready to embark on your first day. However, when you turned to him, you realized he was looking at you strangely, his eyes sparkling with pride, but it also seemed like he was trying to hide his face from you.
“Ryuu? Are you… are you crying?” You had to try extra hard to keep yourself from bursting out laughing.
He dramatically turned his head away. “Of course not! Anyway I’ve, uh, got to go, so bye now! Have fun and trust no one!” And then he was off back down the hallways you had come from, ready to ascend the stairs and begin his own new school year.
He brought you to volleyball practice with him as soon as it began for the year, waiting for you outside of your classroom so he could lead you there and you wouldn’t get lost trying to find the gym. He wanted you to know where he was going to be spending a lot of his time outside of school in case you ever needed to find him, so he figured it would be best to let you know from the start, especially since they wouldn’t be doing much on the first day anyway.
“Hey guys!” he greeted the third years as he walked in, “I brought my sister with me, hope you don’t mind.” You followed after him somewhat timidly, not sure what the captain and vice captain he had told you so much about would be like.
Daichi and Sugawara were more than welcoming though and reassured both of you that it was fine. They asked about your interests and how your first year of high school was going so far. The duo was kind and funny, and you felt instantly at ease joining in with their antics.
You already knew the other second years from when Ryuu would have them over, so it was basically smooth sailing from then on in terms of you being friendly with everyone on the team.
That is, until the first years showed up and you had to watch the drama between them unfold—everything from Kageyama and Hinata’s initial disagreements once they realized they were on the same team, the entire storm that came with the duo of Tsukkishima and Yamaguchi, and, last but most certainly not least, the match between all of them.
Ryuu kept you updated about all of it, even letting you know of his plan of allowing Kagyeama and Hinata to use the gym before morning practice (you thought he was the coolest for taking a risk behind Daichi’s back to help the first years out), and you were so caught up in wondering how it would all turn out that he invited you to the match that Saturday.
Of course you were cheering for your brother once he was dragged in to be a part of the match and let him know afterwards how cool it was. You had been to his volleyball games before, but it was entirely different seeing them up close with everyone practicing.
You slowly began to spend more time with the boys’ volleyball team, always one to cheer on your brother and admire his skills, and once you got acquainted with Kiyoko, you began to help her out with simple manager duties in exchange—Ryuu always tried to use you as a gateway to talk to Kiyoko and having him be jealous of your friendship with her gave you a sense of triumph because you finally had something to hold over him.
You even became fast friends with Yachi once she joined the Karasuno crew due to you both being in the same grade and she became one of your favorite people to talk to whenever the day was particularly slow. You showed her the ropes of being a manager and gave her your own personal anecdotes about what it was like to be new to the team so she didn’t feel so nervous about the whole thing knowing that someone else was once in the same boat as her.
At last you were able to socialize properly with the first years now that their dispute had been settled and, similar to your experience with the rest of the team, you instantly took a liking to them, even if some of them were snarky or could be blunt sometimes (Kageyama and Tsukishima). You grew especially close to them since you were all in the same grade, although the upperclassmen still looked over you and you had a good relationship with all of them as well.
Ryuu would be able to tell right away if something was off with you once you started acting a little strange. He would be concerned and probably ask you what was wrong when you two were home and just hanging out on the couch, and since you’re so used to confiding everything in him, you end up blurting out that you were dating one of his teammates, immediately covering your mouth after and staring at him with wide eyes, unsure of what he would say.
All of the first years would need to watch their backs once he found out if it was one of them that you were dating.
“Seriously? Him?” he would ask in disbelief when you told him and shake his head. Then he would get all sentimental again and lean back, hands behind his head. “Ah, young love,” he would muse.
“Ryuu, shut up, you’re not that much older than me!”
Ryuu would constantly be lurking nearby anytime you were with your boyfriend, and during practices he would take a special interest in teasing them. Definitely glared at them a lot, gave them lots of scary faces, and threatened them whenever he had a chance during the beginning and found it hilarious if they ever seemed scared or uncomfortable. He kept that up until you told him to knock it off or else you would stop talking to him for a whole week (he can’t go that long without his little sister so he was basically forced to comply).
Tsukishima wouldn’t be all that phased by his threats anyway though so Ryuu would continue trying to intimidate him no matter what you said. (“What? Why do I need to stop? That kid needs someone to put him in his place!”)
Tsukishima wouldn’t really care at all about trying to appeal to Ryuu, but the any of the other first years would probably try to show that they were doing their best to be a good boyfriend so could he please stop looking like he wanted to murder them, please they are begging you.
Depending on the first year you chose, it may take him different lengths of time to warm up to the idea, but once he did he’s always teasing you two and “Aw, Noya, look at the tiny first years in love. If only that was us and Kiyoko. Minus the tiny part. And the first years part.”
If you choose one of the second years, when you told him he would groan and cover his ears, screwing his eyes shut because he did not want to know that.
“This is a joke, right? I can’t believe you’re dating one of my friends! Gross! I’m never going to be able to look at you two the same again.”
Nishinoya is his best friend, so once he got over the initial weirdness of it all, you three went back to being the most chaotic trio of the team. Tanaka even forgave Noya for betraying Kiyoko since he was dating you after all. Those two were basically your protection squad before, but it was ramped up to the max now that Noya was actually dating you. Anyone come near you? They were about to enter a world of pain with two feral volleyball players guarding you at all times. Lots of hanging out between the three of you, and Ryuu would get all pouty when you told him that no, he can’t come on your date tonight (lo behold, unbeknownst to you, Noya had also invited Ryuu over because “bro code” so you couldn’t escape him anyway).
Ryuu had a lot of respect for Ennoshita, so if you were dating him he would trust him to take good care of you, although since Ennoshita always kept him and Nishinoya in line, you basically had that same power now and he was not happy about you bossing him around.
Overall, Ryuu would have a hard time accepting the fact that his friends were dating you because how in the world did this even happen (the first few weeks would have him cringing and turning away if he ever saw any PDA because please spare his eyes), but ultimately he knew he wouldn’t trust anyone else to treat you better than the guys he already knew so well, so he would try his best to be supportive and make sure you knew to come to him if you needed anything as always.
Decide to date a third year and Ryuu is going to stare at you in silence for a very long time once he hears that. He’s just sitting there blinking, waiting for you to burst out laughing at the joke, but when you ask him if he’s okay, he realizes you were most definitely not joking and now he’s having an existential crisis.
“How can my precious baby sister be dating someone older than me? How am I supposed to keep that guy in line if I’m supposed to be respectful to him?” He’s freaking out because suddenly you and your entire life in his mind could no longer be considered to only consist of people younger than him that he could easily intimidate and be seen as your cool older brother by—no, you had entered uncharted territory and this was so weird.
He couldn’t do much in terms of threatening the third years, but once you let your boyfriend know that you had told your brother about your relationship, they would go talk to him themselves after seeing how tense he was acting during practice. They’d let him know they intended to take good care of you and everything like that, and Ryuu knew that he trusted their word.
Whether it was Daichi, Sugawara, or Asahi, Ryuu told them he was fine with it, but that if they ever did hurt you, he doesn’t care if they were older than him, he will come after them. He also definitely keeps a watch on you two when he can because of course he’s worried about his younger sister dating someone older than both of them.
Just like with the second years though, he knows the third years are responsible and trustworthy, and he feels pretty safe leaving you alone with them.
Eventually, no matter who it is you’re dating on the team, Ryuu will come to accept it because he wants you to be happy, but he’s constantly ready to jump to your defense if your boyfriend ever does anything wrong because he’ll always be your caring, protective older brother.

Sawamura Daichi
Daichi was the responsible older brother every parent dreams of having (albeit a bit overdramatic at times).
Once you started at Karasuno, you were stuck to his side constantly—although it wasn’t through your own choice, no. Your dear older brother was convinced he needed to keep a close watch on you at all times and that if he wasn’t there something bad would happen and he would be the one who had to deal with the blame from your parents.
He gave you your freedom, especially because he was busy with his own life, but he was always waiting right outside the school to walk you home, and if he saw you at lunch you better believe he’s going to embarrass you in front of your friends and say “hi.” (Your friends would then proceed to ask about the “hottie upperclassman” that had just talked to you, and you would gag and stick your tongue out, letting them know that they did not want to date your brother. Listen, living with him meant that you had to see a side of him that wasn’t the perfect boyfriend facade your friends seemed to see in him. You knew the truth.)
When the time came that most people were signing up for clubs they were considering and attending club interest meetings, he invited you to stop by the gym after you were done looking around after school. This was mostly because you two could easily meet up there and then head home right after, but he also thought it would be fun for you to see what antics his team got up to, even if you couldn’t join.
You poked your head into the gym and glanced around, instantly spotting your brother on the far end of the room. “Yo, Daichi! I’m here!” you called out in a sing-songy voice, making your way across the gym. Your strides were confident, even as the rest of the team turned to stare at you, because it was your cool brother that was the captain after all and that automatically made you the star of the party, or something like that.
He would be glad to see you and introduce you to the rest of the team right away, mainly to get them to quit staring and actually get back to practicing. That didn’t help much though because you were bombarded with questions and practice was entirely derailed by your arrival.
You already knew Sugawara and Asahi from when Daichi would invite them over and you even hung out with them a few times when Daichi would host a movie night for them at your house and you would join them in the living room.
Depending on if you were a first year or second year, you might even be acquainted with the underclassmen as well if they were in your class, especially once they learned that you were related to Daichi and would go to you whenever they needed to pass on messages to him, such as if they couldn’t make it to practice later that day or requests for him to pick up supplies for them if they needed it or questions about their training. Yeah, they could easily go to him most of the time, but it was a lot more fun going through you in an unintentional game of “telephone.”
Even after you decided on the club you wanted to join, you still kept coming to the practices. Your club usually finished earlier than the volleyball team did, especially because Daichi usually kept them pretty late, so for the end of practice you would sit quietly in the corner, finishing up some homework. You could technically go home on your own if you wanted to, but the sounds of the team practicing were comforting background noise to your work, even when you had your headphones in, and Daichi preferred to walk you home anyway and make sure you were safe and nothing happened. It just sort of worked out that way and since no one had a real problem with it, everyone simply went with it.
At one point, Kiyoko asked for your help with refilling the boys’ water bottles and you agreed, setting aside the notebook you had been scribbling in as you reviewed your notes from the school day. After that, you asked her occasionally if she ever need help, or would step in on your own if you saw she or Yachi was struggling since they usually didn’t want to bother you, and soon it became a regular routine with you helping out during the practices most of the time and doing your homework on the side if you had a chance.
You got to know the team members much better now that you were actually participating, rather than tuning them out and focusing on your work, and their dynamics were intriguing and hilarious, especially how they always seemed to drive your brother up a wall while simultaneously impressing him constantly. The duality of it all kept drawing you back for more.
Now Daichi wasn’t the only one who would say “hi” to you at lunch. Some of the other boys would greet you if they saw you—if Yamaguchi dragged Tsukishima over to you when he went to say “hello,” the blonde might give you a slight head nod of acknowledgement on a good day—and the comments from your friends on the rapidly increasing number of boys that would come up to you just seemed to multiply. Expect it wasn’t just Daichi—your nice but occasionally stupid older brother—they were talking about, it was actual boys you talked to.
When you had first started attending the volleyball club practices, you had regarded everyone there as family, since that what they always said they were and that was the dynamic they had with Daichi, so you thought you automatically fell into that category, but the offhanded comments from your friends about “Ooo, what did you think about that one?” and “Yeah, he was nice, but that one from yesterday was cuter,” had you reconsidering your thoughts about a certain few of your brother’s teammates.
You would probably feel guilty keeping your relationship a secret from your brother and would decide to break the news to him somewhere near the start of when you began dating one of his teammates, choosing to do it as you two walked home one night, the air chilly and refreshing after being in that stuffy gym all afternoon. It felt right to do it then because you didn’t want to make it a big deal, rather fitting it into your daily routine so that hopefully he wouldn’t take the news as hard.
You two were in the middle of a discussion about practice that day when you bite your lip and steel yourself to tell him, shoving your hands in your pocket and staring down at the ground as you walked. “Um… Daichi… there’s actually something I wanted to tell you…”
He would immediately stop walking and turn to face you, the tone of your voice making him concerned—so much for not making it a big deal. “(Y/N), you’re not getting into any sort of trouble, are you?”
That made your eyes go wide, quick to correct him. “What?! No, no! You’ve got it all wrong! It’s just that…” And with a deep breath you would break the news to him, holding your breath right after as you watched him to see what he would do.
“That’s all? Oh, thank God, I thought you were about to tell me you joined a gang or something,” he’d chuckle, and you would hesitantly join in with your own awkward laugh, a little scared at how well he was taking this.
The fact that you had almost given him a heart attack and he was so glad that the truth wasn’t the worst case scenario he had come up with would initially have him not reacting that much to the actual implications of you dating someone, just relieved that it was something normal.
But then he would dwell on it some more as you two continued walking, your chest much lighter now that you had gotten that secret off of it. You weren’t off the hook just yet though, unbeknownst to you.
He wouldn’t say all of his thoughts out loud just yet, although he would muse, “I guess I should have seen that coming. You have been spending a lot of time with him lately,” as he reflected on the past few weeks.
“Wh-what?” you would choke out, stumbling over your steps and then rushing to catch up with him. And here you thought we were being slick the whole time. Brother knows best as they say (or something like that).
Literally start dating any of the underclassmen and Daichi is going to have to pull them aside to have a little “chat” as soon as he finds out.
When they emerge, your boyfriend looks absolutely terrified (even Tsukishima would be a little shaken), but Daichi is grinning widely and gives them a hearty clap on the back, thanking them for their time.
“N-no problem,” is what they would probably stammer out before slinking away to continue practicing.
You don’t even bother asking Daichi what he told them because you already know he’s not going to tell you, or just give you a watered down version, but you do give him your own lecture about how he should be nicer to your boyfriend and quit giving them a hard time. Daichi ends up being the one coming out of that talk a little shaken so it seems as though justice has been served for your boyfriend.
Daichi tried to make an effort to be nicer after that, but you can feel him watching you guys like a hawk across the gym whenever you’re so much as talking with one another. As soon as you turn to glare at him though, he looks away, going back to whatever he was doing, whether it be sipping from his water bottle, having a conversation with someone, or cleaning up a section of the gym, even whistling a little tune as though he hadn’t been giving the death stare in your general direction just five seconds ago.
If he really wants to know what you two are up to, he’ll pretend he’s doing something, such as picking up a ball, and inch closely to eavesdrop on your conversation. Leaning in for a short kiss? Oops, he accidentally bumped into you two very hard, he’s so sorry about that, and oh, would you look at the time, shouldn’t they get back to practice now, that break seems like it was long enough—tight-lipped smile and all to accompany it.
If your boyfriend comes to pick you up at your house to go out on a date, Daichi is there. Whether he opens the door himself, or is looming behind you as he bids you two farewell and no, he’s not trying to communicate threats using his eyes, what are you talking about?
Inviting your boyfriend over for dinner with your family? Daichi is there of course. Movie night? I’m sure you wouldn’t mind if he joined, right? Studying in your room? Hmm, maybe you should leave your door open. What? It’s just to let some fresh air in, that’s all.
Of course you want to do that whole romantic walking home together thing, so you tell your boyfriend to hurry up and change early after practice so you two can start walking before Daichi even finishes.
But somehow, without fail, no matter what you do, he’d always be there right behind you two, walking a few steps away.
You turn around to shoot him a glare. “Daichi, I swear-”
“What? I’m just walking home. I live here too, you know.”
“Go walk with Suga or something like you usually do!”
Somewhere in the distance you can see Suga running up the hill to catch up with Daichi, panting loudly and calling out for him to wait up, he was still getting dressed, can’t you have some mercy, you stupid captain.
Daichi would be generally overbearing at first and although it’s annoying it’s clear he’s just looking out for you. Plus, your boyfriend is lucky Daichi actually knows him because the treatment would be much worse for anyone else.
He may be a bit more hesitant when to comes to the troublemakers of the team, such as Tanaka or Nishinoya, versus if you were dating one of the more mature underclassmen, but ultimately he knows that even those who cause him headaches almost everyday can be just as responsible as the others when the time comes.
Daichi will probably still keep up the overprotective act for quite a while, although it gradually decreases over time, but deep down he really does trust his teammate to take care of you and will let them know as such if he sees they’re actually ever feeling unsure during the relationship and thinking that you deserve someone better.
If you’re dating one of the two in his grade, dear God, he has zero control.
Suga just amps up his playful bullying of Daichi if he’s being too worrisome.
“Suga, be careful, don’t hold her hand too hard, she has a paper cut on that finger- oof.” Cue Suga punching him in the gut with a devilish grin and reassuring him you two will be fine and to quit hovering so much.
Daichi is actually at Suga’s mercy in this case and while you feel a little bad, it’s just so funny. Whenever he looks over at you for help because please, someone stop Suga from making fun of him for being an overprotective brother, you burst out laughing and tell him, “Sorry, but I have to side with my boyfriend on this one.” Please stop rubbing salt in the wound, he looks like his spirit is about to leave his body.
You and Suga are a fearsome duo against Daichi and he has absolutely no control over either of you. As reckless as he can be sometimes, Suga is still high up on Daichi’s list of people he trusts and his caring side more than makes up for the trouble he gets you in, so Daichi feels as though you’ll be fine.
With Asahi, Daichi would try to pull the whole scare tactic on him, but he feels bad when Asashi gets all worried about Daichi hating him and ends up barely touching you if he’s around—this winds up with you complaining to Daichi about how’s he’s getting in the way of your PDA and he actually tells Asahi he should ramp up the romantic act (even if it pains Daichi to say it). Plus, he knows you’re in good hands with Asahi and he’s always careful and treats you with the utmost care in the world, so Daichi begrudgingly accepts that there’s no reason for him to step in and that you deserve to be in a relationship with the ace.
Both of the third years worm their way into Daichi’s heart in some way and he just knows he can’t control either of the people he’s spent the last few years playing with, so he simply comes to accept it, secretly glad that you chose one of them because he couldn’t think of anyone better to entrust you to.
Dating anyone on the team will have Daichi wary at first, but ultimately he knows all of them and he knows they’re good people and will likely be even better boyfriends, especially if they know he’s always lurking close by when you’re involved, so although he may try to give some of them a hard time, it all comes from a place of love and wanting to make sure that you know he’s always there for you no matter what. Once he cools down the act and sees that you’re open with him about your relationship and let him know if you’re unsure about certain things—no matter how small—he’ll be more comfortable since he knows he can be sure you’ll never keep him in the dark if it really is serious.

(part - 1)
Karasuno, along with the other schools in Miyagi, were having an exchange event for the benefit of their students, in academics. Almost all schools in the county were part of it. To be quite honest, most of the students were excited about it, keenly looking forward for the school assignments to come, so they would know which school they'd be assigned to.
The boys volleyball team of Karasuno were waiting for it too, with bated breath. Why, you ask? There was a reason, a reasonable reason. They were all hoping and praying for their blueberry eyed setter, who they knew would be fine wherever he went, as long as it was not Aoba Johsai. His old team mates from Kitagawa might just make things difficult for him, if that were the case, which was just what he did Not want, Ennoshita had told Suga firmly, when he'd called up once or twice, to ask about his ex-team's current state.
"You see, they may think that Kageyama is made of stone, but I beg to disagree. You and I both saw the first match of Seijoh against Karasuno, Suga-san. All it took to cut daggers through Kageyama's heart was that sleepy looking middle blocker's smiles. So I'd rather he not spend a whole damn month there and return to us with his spirit broken and shattered."
"Hmm, you're right, Ennoshita. But if Kageyama does get assigned to Seijoh, there's nothing we can do about it"
The current captain's lips curved into a soft smile, when he heard how his ex-senpai still said 'we' as if he were part of the team, even now.
"I know. I just hope Kageyama's luck holds. Honestly"
The conversation from two nights ago still played in Ennoshita's mind, as he led his team over to the noticeboard where the pin ups for the schools, his team would attend, would be written down.
Kageyama following behind Hinata and Tsukishima, tried hard, not to think about the chances of having to attend the same school as his ex friends and ugh ex crushes? attended. He prayed hard that his rotten luck would just be kind to him this one time.
Please! Just this time! Just this one time! And I'll never ask for anything! I promise!! he thought to himself.
He felt a hand on his shoulder and turned, startled, to find a reassuring looking Yamaguchi gazing at him. Kageyama nodded at him, silently thanking him. Yamaguchi nodded back, removing his hand.
Bless him, Kageyama thought.
Yamaguchi was one of those rare few, who could understand Kageyama's various silent gestures besides Hinata, Suga and Akaashi.
"OK, I'm going to read out the placements, alright?", Ennoshita's firm tone brought him back to earth and he payed close attention.
"Chikara Ennoshita - Johzenji"
As soon as he read it, the captain looked horrified. Attending the assigned schools also meant participating in the same clubs that you were in, back at your own school. Just thinking about Johzenji's lunatic team was enough to give Ennoshita a heart attack. But what he read out next, made him question his very existence.
"Yuu Nishinoya - Johzenji
Ryunouske Tanaka - Johzenji"
Surviving by myself with a bunch of madcaps was hard enough by itself, did they have to add madcaps from my own team to add to the injury?Ennoshita though rubbing his temples.
Noya and Tanaka were yelling and chest bumping and tribal dancing already.
"Alright you two that's enough", he said.
Who was he kidding?
A fearsome image of Daichi sprang up in his mind.
I really don't wanna do this but....
"I SAID, THAT'S ENOUGH!!"
Tanaka and Noya shut up immediately, while the others grinned.
"Moving on, Kazuhita Narita - Nekoma
Hisashi Kinnoshita - Fukurodani"
The two quiet players looked a bit doubtful, but nodded. Nekoma and Fukurodani were okay, and were actual havens when compared to Johzenji. Kenma and Akaashi would surely ensure that some semblance of peace reigned.
Now it was the turn of the second years. And almost everyone was looking visibly tensed for the ravenette. Even Tsukishima.
"Shoyou Hinata - Nekoma"
"Yayyyy", the ginger head cheered.
"Hitoka Yachi - Nekoma"
An enthusiastic Hinata high-tened a still shy Yachi, but she returned it with the same vigour, if not strength.
"Kei Tsukishima - Aoba Johsai"
Tsukishima smirked. Everyone knew what that meant.
Any one of those brats try to pull one on me, I'll make them pay.
For Kunimi and Kindaichi's sake, Kageyama hoped that the Seijoh team wouldn't be too stupid or brash around SaltBottle.
"Tadashi Yamaguchi - Sh.. Shiratorizawa...?"
Ennoshita looked up to gape at the green haired middle blocker who stared right back, before collapsing down.
"Tsukiiiii Ennoshita-san!! There's no way I can go there by myself!! Please spare meeee!!"
Ennoshita tried to calm him down.
"Relax Yams! You're not alone. Let's see....."
As Ennoshita's eyes skimmed through the contents, at a particular name he stopped and stared, numbly.
"Captain!?? There's no one right? I knew it! Tsukiiiii"
Yamaguchi's wails broke through Ennoshita's dismay, and he continued on till,
"Aha here we go. Kazehaya and Reiki are going with you"
The cheerful pair of libero and spiker, first years, Kazehaya and Reiki smiled soothingly at their soft hearted senpai. Of course they were nervous too, but then again, they were more excited than nervous.
Yamaguchi stifled his sobs, a little bit better now.
"Uh... Tobio Kageyama - Aoba Johsai"
Each and every person in the room turned to look at the boy currently cowering in his corner.
No.
No.
Please.
Not again.

Hello! Do you remember "Dating a Hothead/easily angered girlfriend" blog from anonymous? Can I request for Akaashi, Kageyama, Ushijima, Sugawara, and Tsukishima of how will they react to their s/o? Thank you! I really really really love that blog! It really reminds me of me of being sassy 😂. Anyways, sorry for bothering you *bows*
Author’s note: UGH Im so sorry this took me so long to get out! I only did Kageyama and Akaashi cause I wanted a bit of a contrast hope that’s okay! Also, I wanna point out that there’s nothing wrong with defending yourself, even if things do get violent. I don’t condone violence I’m just saying to protect yourself in the best way possible!
Here’s the first part!
Akaashi and Kageyama with a Hotheaded Girlfriend
-Akaashi-
Tumblr media
Akaashi knows how angry you get so he always does his best to try and make sure everything goes smoothly to avoid any casualties
BUT Akaashi can’t control every little thing and he realizes this fairly early in your relationship
I’m a full believer that Bokuto loves raves and clubbing and because of this, he usually drags you and Akaashi along
One night you three and a couple of other Fukurodani members are out clubbing and immediately, Akaashi surveys the room: where are the exits? Where’s the bathroom? Which group looks like trouble? Where did his girlfriend and best friend go???
He spots a group of girls near the bar that are a part of a bachelorette party who are a bit rowdy but he kinda brushes them off cause there’s nothing threatening about six girls wearing cheap wedding veils
You guys get your own private table in the corner ( bless Konoha and his connections) and after an hour or two of drinking and dancing, you take the initiative to go buy the next round of drinks cause that’s just club etiquette and you’re lowkey ballin
Let’s get it miss independent !!!! 😤 😤 😤
Akaashi offers to go with you but you tell him to watch Bokuto cause he might bust his head from dancing on the table
Once you make it to the bar, you decide just to order a pretty expensive bottle for the table because you’re not confident in your ability to carry six shots back without spilling it everywhere
You pay for the bottle and start making your way back to the table when you see the bridal party from earlier hanging out at your table. You see two girls laughing side by side with Bokuto (ok my dude get some) BUT THEN you search for Akaashi and sure enough, you see him visibly uncomfortable as the ‘soon to be bride’ tries sitting in your mans lap.
Akaashi looks up and he’s conflicted cause he wants your help to get this drunk girl off of him but he also knows you’re crazy and you might kill her in the process
“ Your hair looks so sexy pushed back! Has anyone ever told you that before?”
“ Please go away, my girlfriend is coming and she won’t be happy-”
“ Aw girlfriend? No fair why are the cute ones always taken?”
“ Aren’t you getting married?”
You’re gripping the bottle so tight in your hands and Akaashi can see it in your eyes that you are soooo close to hitting this bitch over the head with the bottle
He already knows exactly what you’re thinking and he’s pleading with you not to just with his eyes
Would you kill a girl over sitting in your mans lap? Yeah probably I mean you were fucking crazy
BUT since you could see how serious Akaashi was, you loosened your grip on the bottle and placed it on the table. Before the bride could even look over, you had already lightly nudged pushed her off of Akaashi’s lap and sat down on your boyfriend as if to claim him
“ What is your problem, you didn’t have to push me!” The bride whined as she got off the floor but you kept your glare on her
Akaashi squeezed your thigh to try and calm you down but maybe it was because of the alcohol so you just clenched your fists even tighter
“ You’re lucky all I did was push you. I can’t believe you’re about to get married and you’re trying to straddle my fucking boyfriend!”
Akaashi can feel how tense you are so he sits you on the inside of the booth so he can be in the middle between the girl and you. At this point, you’re sitting next to Bokuto and he’s laughing nervously cause he’s never seen you act like this before but he’s a ride or die so hes automatically team Y/N
“ Are you threatening me?”
“ Yeah, I am. What are you going to do about it?”
“ Y/N stop-”
“ Yeah, listen to your boyfriend bitch.”
“ WHO THE HELL ARE YOU CALLING A BITCH?!”
Before you can lunge over the table, Akaashi keeps his arm out and blocks you from doing so. He turns to the girl and bows his head, trying not to let his own anger consume him,” I think you should leave.”
“ And what if I don’t want to?” The soon to be bride pokes bitterly as she attempts to wrap her arm around Akaashi’s shoulders,” what is your girlfriend gonna do, hit me?”
She’s right, you can’t launch yourself across the table and your arm doesn’t have the reach but you had alternatives. You grabbed a half-drunken glass of some brown rum and you flung the alcohol into the girls face
Everyone at the table was SHOCKED, lowkey including you cause you didn’t even mean to throw the drink in her face it just happened YOU SWEAR it was just an instinct
Who could blame you I mean you were so mad plus you had been watching so many compilations of “ Best Housewives Fights from Bravo” that it was the first thing you could think of
Akaashi, bless him and his brilliant mind, immediately blocked your body with his because the soon to be bride tries climbing into the booth to beat you up and Bokuto also has a protective grip on your wrist to stop you from killing her
LUCKILY before you could spill any blood, security comes and forces the girl to leave your table
At first, you thought Akaashi was mad at you so you kind of pout and tell him how sorry you were but Akaashi doesn’t even care he just makes sure you’re okay
In his head, he knows maybe you were in the wrong for pushing the girl but he would never admit it outloud cause he values his life
My heart swoons for this man
Bokuto on the other hand is slapping your back and shaking your shoulders going,” Holy crap Y/N that was AWESOME!!!”
-Kageyama-
Tumblr media
You and Kageyama had only recently started dating so he probably doesn’t have any idea how mad you could get. He’s seen a few times where you’ve gotten upset over school or your family problems but he still didn’t think too much about it
Who was he to be put off at having an easily angered s/o when he was balancing between his own emotions?
Anyway! You were one of Karasuno’s managers and you and Kiyoko got SO CLOSE! The job was super easy and it meant you could spend more time with your boyfriend so win-win!
The only part that was ever hard for you was other guys constantly hitting on you and Kiyoko like damn okay you both were hot as hell but at least treat girls with respect?
You didn’t mind guys telling you that you both were pretty caused duh you two already knew that but most of them were SOOO disgusting and you never let it slide
Before one of Karasuno’s games, you were on the sidelines with Kiyoko chatting about the next match when you could hear some of the guys from the other team trying to get your attention
“ Damn, Karasuno girls really are as fine as they say, they look soooo good.”
“ God, the things I would do if I was alone with them.”
“ I know you two can hear us, turn around so we can see what we’re working with.”
You just kept your eyes locked onto your clipboard because you didn’t want Kageyama to see how fucking crazy you could get but JESUS it was so hard when these two guys were harassing you
“ Kiyoko, I will fucking lose my mind if they come over here. I think I’m going to snap someone’s neck,” You said through gritted teeth as you watched your boyfriend warm up.
“Maybe you should go cool off in the bathroom before the game starts. I’ll let Kageyama-Kun know what’s going on and I’ll meet you in the hallway,” Kiyoko suggested as you gave her prayer hands cause she really do be a queen
You took your clipboard with you as if it was a weapon and stomped out to the bathroom cause you knew if you stayed in that gym any longer, you would cause a scene
You rinsed your face in the bathroom and you took a few deep breaths as you tried to calm yourself down
Your friends and family always told you that you needed to get your anger under control and now that you were dating, the last thing you needed was to scare Kageyama off
When you started to head out towards the gym, you felt in the air that something was off like spidey senses but instead, it’s like a creep radar was sounding off in your head
That’s when you saw Kiyoko and one of the guys from earlier cornering her against a wall
You can see that Kiyoko was visibly uncomfortable and you were just about to push your limit
“ I said to leave me alone. I’m waiting for a friend.”
“ Oh, you mean the other manager? I’m telling you, we would treat you like absolute queens at our school-”
“ Hey dude, back the hell off!” You shoved the guy to the side pretty hard to the point where he stumbled back a few good feet,” fucking creep.”
This dude, this mf has the audacity to POST UP TO YOU! You’re not even intimidated by him even though he’s easily half a foot taller than you
Like he’s in your face cause now he’s pissed that this girl actually managed to shove him pretty hard
“ Lay your hands on me again and see what happens.”
“ Are you threatening me? Cause if you are, go on and try to hit me I fucking dare you!”
Kiyoko is like nuh uh not on my watch and while im pretty sure kiyoko can throw fucking hands, she ran to go get Kageyama like “ go get ur girl”
This alerts pretty much the whole team even though they’re supposed to be warming up, they go with Kageyama cause if the boys hear your name and that you need help, they get hella protective
Kageyama slides over to the hallway and sees this dude yelling in your face and he sees red when the guy lays a hand on your shoulder
Before Kageyama can even make it over to you, you smash your clipboard over the guys head so hard, he hits the floor
BUT BRUH once he hits the floor you don’t! Stop! hitting ! him!
Like that clipboard is the perfect weapon oml
“ Don’t! Ever! Touch! Me!” You literally bash him after every word and this dude can’t even fight back like I personally dont feel bad but ummmmm you might commit murder
Kageyama rushes over to you and grabs you so you can stop and he’s trying to calm you down but once the word “bitch” slips out of the guys mouth, Kageyama grabs him by the jersey and is shaking him like a ragdoll
“ Watch your goddamn mouth before I put my fist through it!”
And you’re still heated so you want to basically jump this dude with your boyfriend cause romance ya know but Suga is holding you back ( he highkey struggling)
And now Noya and Tanaka are trying to hold Kageyama back because while they definitely would’ve reacted the same way, they don’t want Kageyama to go overboard
“ What did you just say? Go on and say it again-”
“ Kageyama please!”
“ You’re lucky I’m getting held back-”
“ Y/N! Enough!”
Just two lovebirds threatening a dudes life I love it
Things get resolved pretty quickly thanks to daddy daichi calming everyone down and now it’s time for the match to start
Suga lets go of you when Kageyama walks over and the first thing he does is hug you tightly. He practically squeezes the life out of you like this experience really showed how protective he was
He even admits that while he’s glad you can handle yourself, you shouldn't have to stand up to people alone and 100% doesn’t think you overreacted at all especially when Kiyoko thanks you for sticking up for her
He’s a bit intimidated by how you acted only because he had never saw you that mad before but he doesn’t blame you for how you handled it

Hi! I would like to request an angst fic where the reader gets into a fight with any of the karasuno boys and ends up in an accident after running away. You can choose anyone who you like! Thanks
So, because of how much creative liberty you gave me I’m gonna make the accident less of a “your hurt” accident but an accidental meeting if you catch my drift! Okay, on that note here are the three boys I thought would work the best with this idea:
Asahi
Tsukishima
Ennoshita
surprising, right? people seem to forget that Asahi quit the club and ennoshita almost quit like 5 times, and Tsukishima is self-explanatory.
Part two -->here<--
Thank you so much for requesting! It means a lot to me!
synopsis: Tsukishima snapped at you after you asked him to support your friendship, doing so, you ran away and met a tall man with red hair and a strange smile. genre: ANGST, slight fluff in the memories and end! warnings: Swearing, toxic friendships, heartbreak, etc. pairing: Platonic?Tsukishima & Yamaguchi x F!Reader x Platonic?Tendou word count: 1.7k
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After a long day of doing club activities and homework, you were thoroughly beat. Who could blame you, staying up late nights for some free time and to get your homework done. But you always made sure to check in on your closest friends: Yamaguchi and Tsukishima.
You three had met at the beginning of middle school, as you were getting made fun of by some kids and Tsukishima stepped in and helped you. Since then you’d always wanted to repay him with your time and effort in the friendship. He was often cold to you though, leaving you to believe that nothing would ever happen in the friendship and that he’d leave you high and dry.
You and Yamaguchi often discussed Tsukishima’s personality and actions to try to attest to his actions, which at some points was hard due to his slightly sadistic nature. After long nights of ranting to each other about your frustrations, you two became closer.
Long sleepless nights filled with laughter and music often warmed your heart, especially when Tsukishima joined. He had made both you and Yamaguchi playlists- full of songs that reminded him of you guys and a small description in the bio. It was the sweetest thing he’d ever done for a long time, but then he started getting colder to you, distant. He would push you away and use words sharper than knives to cut open your heart and let it bleed a little. You had asked Yamaguchi to talk to him about it but he just said that Tsuki told him not to bring you up anymore.
You had no idea what to do, why he exiled you, and why you never saw this coming in all honesty. You wondered if he saw you checking up on him as clingy, or how you’d make treats for him and Yamaguchi and see it as annoying or too doting. You thought of everything you could until you decided to talk with him face-to-face, which you knew would be hard, but you knew you had to try.
Armed with some baked goods and a dinosaur plushie in your already weighted backpack make your eyes droop with exhaustion. But, you were determined to go and ask him what was up. You couldn’t let such a meaningful relationship go to waste.
As you approached the gym, the sound of volleyballs bouncing around the floor filled your ears, a faint yet somewhat comforting sound. You were proud of Tadashi and Kei for doing a sport, you knew it would exhaust them, but you believed it was exactly what they needed. the feeling of light dread and the beating of your heartbeat the sound of the slams of the balls, now a faint memory in your ears.
“NOYA, LOOK OVER HERE!” you heard a male voice yell, it was coming closer to the door. “RYUU, WHAT DO YOU MEAN- OH!” a short guy with a blonde streak of hair made eye contact with you, his eyes full of energy. He ran to the door and opened it completely for you. by this time, the whole gym is now aware of your existence.
“So, what’s a cute girl doing here? Waiting for someone-” The boy named “Noya” was then promptly picked up along with his friend, “Ryuu” by a tall boy with brown hair and kind chestnut eyes. “My apologies, what do you need?” he asked with a smile. You then saw a boy with orange hair jumping up and down.
“Kageyama, look how pretty she is! Is she gonna be a manager? Hey! Are you gonna be a manager? Your very pretty!” his sweet attitude and words reminded you of what you were there for, who you were there for. You chuckled, rubbing your hand on the back of your neck.
“Thank you for your compliments but I’m just here to walk home with my friends after they’re both done with practice, I don’t mean to be a bother. To apologize, would you like some brownies? I think I brought enough for everyone here-” you were cut off by the two boys who first greeted you praying and crying out of joy.
“Well, if you don’t mind then we’d love some! I’m Daichi Sawamura, the captain of the volleyball team” He shook your hand, his grip was just tight enough and his hands where calloused and warm, you were then met with a boy with long hair and some stubble hunching over, his hand rubbing his neck as he flashed a shy smile and bowed and thanked you. You saw so many different looking people, the skinhead and blonde streak boy seeming to be the most energetic out of the team. You finally were met with Yamaguchi jogging over to you after seemingly talking to Tsukishima.
“Hey, Y/N! Thank you for coming, I appreciate it!” Tadashi smiled brightly. “Oh yeah- I, um... this is me and Tsuki’s friend: Y/N!” he stumbled on his words because of how many eyes were onto him.
“Y/N? Why are you here?” Tsukishima sounded frustrated “Tsuki, let her explain! Please?” only to be answered with a “Shut up, Yamaguchi.” in an icy cold tone, icier than usual. “Well, I just wanted to see if you were okay, and in all honesty, I wanted to talk to you privately-” you said, trying to calm the thumping of your heart.
“Y/N, if I was avoiding you, it was for a reason, now leave.” He snapped, the whole gym was quiet, no sound of balls, just everyone holding their breath. “Tsukishima, please hear me out-” you were once again cut off by the harsh words of one of your closest friends.
“Y/N. I don’t care about what you want to say to me, shut up and leave.” his words made you hold your breath, choking back the salty tears with a warm smile and a bow and you reached into your bag to grab a small dinosaur plushie. You handed it to him without a word, left the bag of sweets with the boys, said goodbye, and then ran out the door. you heard the faint yell of Yamaguchi and Daichi saying something.
You could only imagine how awkward the team felt, you felt bad for coming, felt horrible for bothering him so much. You knew deep down that you did nothing wrong, that he just had to learn how to cope with his emotions, but that didn’t change the ache in your heart as your feet carried you to the street. You were aimlessly running until you were met with a stop sign, the red lights from the stoplights illuminating your skin with the bright blue.
You just aimlessly walked around the streets, not caring where you’re heading, where you are. Your tear-stained cheeks being wiped away by your sweater sleeves. The moving of cars and the small amount of business on the streets welcoming your bad mood. A tune of humming met your ears as you looked around yourself. You had somehow managed to run yourself to Shiratorizawa Academy. Honestly, now that you think about it, your feet do feel sore after walking for so long.
"Hey! Whatchu doin' here? That uniform means your from Karasuno, right?" only to be met with a perky male voice, he sounded mischievous. you turned around to see a tall boy with sanpaku eyes and a mischievous smile. His hair was a medium red and his eyes were sunken in, but not dull. But as soon as he saw your tired eyes and your tear-stained cheeks his demeanor changed. “Hey, are you okay? Can I do anything to help?” by this time you had already cried all your tears, so you just simply asked him to listen, and listen he did.
He never interjected, but he was paying attention, nodding with you while walking into Shiratorizawa. You two were met by three boys, one with black hair and a bowl-cut, one with peach hair and slanted bangs that you giggled at, and a very tall man with broad shoulders and olive hair. Tendou had asked you if he could explain what happened and the team let you in with open arms.
“So, I know what I’m about to say doesn’t justify his actions at all! I’m not that stupid!” you giggled at his lightheartedness “But, ya know how parents often tell girls ‘If he hits ya, he likes ya?’ yeah, that’s the vibe I’m getting off of Mr. Four-eyes here.” he sighed “Still doesn’t mean much when he treats ya like garbage- I’m so sorry by the way- oh wait! I haven’t even introduced myself; I’m Tendou Satori! I’m a middle blocker for Shiratorizawa’s volleyball team. I guess not all volleyball boys are bad, huh?” he stuck his tongue out at you playfully and smiled.
He was so nice to you, hell, the whole team was so nice to you! but little did you know that your phone was blowing up with messages from Yamaguchi. He wasn’t going to forgive Tsukishima that easily after what he had done.
And Tendou said that if they ever played Karasuno, he wouldn’t go hard on him, but he knew he was lying, just a little bit. Hey, it isn’t cool to leave a girl crying in the middle of the street ya know?

Thank you so much for reading and requesting again, it means so much to me!
this is also my first fic that i wrote for someone who isn’t a close friend, so thank you so much!

realization | tsukishima kei
Tumblr media
—pairing: tsukishima x gn!reader
—warnings: name calling, uneditied*
—synopsis: 3.3k | tsukishima, with the help of a certain freckled cutie, realizes that the weird feeling in his stomach whenever you’re around isn’t anger or irritation but rather the complete opposite.
Tumblr media
even if you were only at kurasuno for a few weeks you’re already known for being an intelligent student, but even you know that classes can be stressful.
that’s why whenever asked, you will say with pride that lunch is your favorite subject. after some classes pass by with you tentatively paying attention as best as possible. a few more minutes pass and the familiar ringing of the dismissal bell delights your ears.
lunch time! finally!
not even hesitating, you turn your seat around to share a table with a few friends. you’re meet with two faces already gathered; yamaguchi, a sweet freckled cutie, looms near your right side. picking away at the packed lunch he was with his chopsticks.
and a much taller male sits in front of you, tsukishima is his name. he’s blunt, level-headed, and honestly needs to be humbled every now and then, but he’s grown on you over the past few weeks you’ve known him. something about the way he isn't afraid to speak his thoughts or the way he doesn’t care about what people think about him is, to say the least, admirable.
but hell if you were ever going to tell him that.
tupperwares of all different kinds of foods were laid out on the small table. the waffling smell of the contrasting sweets and meaty meals made your tummy grumble. as you ate, the three of you chatted and teased each other, giggling about gossip or how each of their days went.
in the middle of talking about the latest rumor about your school’s golden couple, yamaguchi turns to you, “i know we’ve known you for a few weeks already but what school did you say you transferred from again, (y/n)?”
you take a quick sip from your water, “i don’t know if you’ve heard it before but it’s called seijoh?”
yamaguchi stiffens, “s-seijoh? do you know Oikawa Tooru?”
instinctively, your nose scrunches at the name, “ahh, you know shittykawa too?”
“yeah, we played him in a volleyball match,” yamaguchi sheepishly rubs at the back of his neck. his dark eyes steal a glance at the taller blonde to gage his reaction.
“and we lost,” tsukishima plainly adds.
“mhm, we tend to do that with other schools,” you gut your chin out at the two boys in front of you. a teasing smile on your lips as you spoke with confidence. tsukishima turns his face away obviously annoyed by your pride for your old school but says nothing against it. yamaguchi deadpans, laughing nervously.
you hum adding on a few, “we aren’t close so you don’t have to worry about anything.”
the shorter boy relaxes, audibly letting out a sigh of relief. you understand his terror when you mentioned the idol of your old school, you’ve been to some of their games. aobajohsai is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to sports especially volleyball.
“well, are you liking it here at least? isn’t seijoh a private school are we really that different from them?” you smile at his genuine eagerness. the greened haired boy standing in front of you really is a sweetheart despite hanging out with such a crude character.
“honestly...” your eyes trail to the two boys in front of you. yamaguchi keenly awaits your answer while tsukishima has suddenly put his headphones on. a heavy feeling weighs on your chest. it doesn’t sit right with you how easy it is for tsukishima to wave your words off.
you don’t know if he’s paying attention to your conversation or not but you leave the taller boy alone deciding to answer the freckled cutie truthfully.
“i understand why you’re called the flightless crows,” yamaguchi’s shoulders fall, confused, “your sports teams really lack that fiery passion that a lot of other teams have. it’s one of the reason’s why i didn’t join the girl’s volleyball, actually.”
despite yamaguchi’s obvious disappointment, you continue, “yeah, i really do love volleyball. i was considered one of the best players at seijoh but— it would be troublesome for me to motivate a whole team by myself so i decided against trying out.”
tsukishima simply spares you a glance before grabbing some food out of his bento. he seems unbothered by your stance on the sport. “o-oh,” is yamaguchi’s broken response.
suddenly, an all to familiar voice cuts through your conversation, “ah, are you considered part of the royal family too?” you glance his way, a teasing glint in his golden eyes that match his icy words.
but you’re quick to respond, “i may have been called... something.” you mumble out the last word quickly looking away because you know that if you were to challenge tsukishima right now, you’d lose.
he dislikes talented people. especially those that rise to the top solely with their skills alone. this is why he often teases kageyama and the shrimp. you know that there is no good way of getting out of this conversation now.
your head is down, chin tucked into your neck. eyes cast low focusing on the floor. he can’t help but let out a laugh at your hunched over figure. not the typical hyena cackle that haunts your nightmare but there’s a slight authenticity to this howl.
he’s hunched over ever so slightly, glasses gleaming at the angle it gets hit from the bright classroom lights.
“what? were you called princess or something?” he spat out the term like venom. obviously, his teasing was meant to stab just a little bit. at the call of the familiar name, your blushing.
you can feel the heat deepening on your cheeks. “so what if it is?” you bark back at his taunts. at this point, yamaguchi is snuffling his giggles too.
tsukishima takes in a breath, waving off his words “it’s nothing...” he squats down to your height furthering his taunts. with his face mere inches away from yours, you can see every detail.
how his golden eyes are practically glowing. you can see the splashes of light red on his uneven skin tone. how his thin brows furrow with concentration, but most prominently you can see how his lips come up higher at one point.
a self-satisfied smile plays at his thin lips. your thoughts are constantly caught between wanting to smack that stupid smirk off with a slap or kiss. so concentrated you almost miss the next words the blonde mutters out.
“... princess.”
your heart was always still whenever people addressed you like that. like tsukishima, you thought giving titles to those who are merely good at sports was more than futile... but you hated how your heart fluttered at the way he said your former title.
Tumblr media
it’s been nearly two months since your transfer to kurasuno and the budding friendship you have between tsukishima and yamaguchi has quickly become one of the few reasons you start enjoying coming to school. since that encounter, you had with tsukishima and how he teased you relentlessly for your former title, the two of you have now become somewhat of a duo at this point.
one is not seen without the other, a similar dynamic he and yamaguchi have going on. except he and yamaguchi can be civil whenever they converse. you and tsukishima’s encounters often end up with bitter teasing and hard-headed words.
but don’t get it twisted, you like that tsukishima can keep up with your witty remarks and if he thought of you to truly be as annoying as he says so, you know he wouldn’t put up with you at all. without even confirming it, you both know that the two of you are good friends.
good friends that sometimes cross lines when teasing each other? yes. naturally, you’ll find yourself leaning into tsukishima’s face inches apart from each other to get a rise out of him and at first, your tactic worked. successfully getting him flustered but you used it one too many times and now he knows when it’s coming. however, that doesn’t stop you from doing it though.
it is another typical day at kurasuno, besides you sits the dark greenette and behind you tsukishima. both of them are tediously writing down notes to the teacher’s lectures. you learned that the duo is known to be quite clever around school.
you’re doing the same. trying your best to scribble notes while tentatively listening to the teacher’s words. “ack!” you quietly exclaim. hand cramps suck! the abrasive sound catches the attention of many students around you.
“perhaps we’ve been at it for a little too long?” your teacher turns back to your peers, faces of agreement flood the sea of students. the older man nods, “well, there’s about—” he looks up at the clock, “six more minutes ‘till lunch. we’ve covered more than enough for this topic. how about we have some free time ‘till then, yeah?”
your seatmates in unisons thank the teacher and then go about their things, getting up or talking to their friends nearby. your not even able to breathe before tsukishima comes for you, “see that, dolt? he had to stop the lecture because of your complaining.”
you don’t miss a beat as you snap back, “dolt? please, the last test we took, i got a mark higher than yours! hhm, what did you get, again?”
tsukishima narrows his eyes glaring daggers at your standing (he still remains sitting in his desk) figure once you mention the one time he lost to you. your arms are confidently crossed over your chest and for once, your lips adore a cocky grin that could rival his.
he pushes up his glasses, “i don’t recall—”
“huh? yams, do you want to remind him then since tsuki doesn’t remember?”
yamaguchi tries his best to hold back his sniggers because this is the first time in a while where he’s met someone who’s able to confidently challenge his intimidating friend. he finds it really enduring how you’re able to put up with his blunt tone no matter how often he “attacks” you (as you so lovingly put it).
yamaguchi pips up, “well, tsuki i think it was last week when you got a 93% on the english test and (y/n) got a—”
“98!” throwing up your arms in the air, you smile down at the boy, “do you recall that now, tsuki?” playfully you lean forward, closing in on the blonde’s face. this happens often between the two of you. tsukishima makes an excuse he has to be at least eye level with you to hear your words and whenever you get the chance, you reveal in the fact that you’re taller than him when he sits or squats down on the floor.
there’s a beat of silence as tsukishima averts his gaze from yours.
this takes yamaguchi, an innocent bystander, by surprise. the tsukishima he knows would not silently put up with this kind of teasing. the tsukishima he knows would have a just as snappy comeback to bark back instantly.
“shut it, princess.”
this is when the shorter boy knows something is off. the nickname tsukishima has given you is not in any way enduring (though perhaps this moment right now is proving yamaguchi’s initial thoughts to be wrong). his best friend often threw it at you when he wanted to rile you up even more. not as a lat resort kind of insult. it’s meant to dab an even deeper wound into your chest not... cushion the blow.
tsukishima thought it was a ridiculous name (and so did you) and having him constantly call you it made you hate it more than ever. now he uses it to torment you everyday.
but you wouldn’t want him to call you anything else.
it’s a nickname specially reserved to taunt you.
you lean close to the blonde boy’s face. hands resting flat on his desk, smile bright and ridiculing. even sitting down, tsukishima has managed to stare down at your standing figure in a way that irked you even more than usual. to you, this is normal tsukishima acting, but yamaguchi knows better.
he sees the slight way his best friend shifts back trying his best not to go too far into your space. he sees the way tsukishima stiffens and golden eyes flash an unfamiliar expression the second you get a little too close for the blonde’s comfort.
he sees the way his cheeks flush an uncharacteristically faint pink whenever you say something even slightly enduring towards the taller boy. as yamaguchi continues to observe the interaction, he concludes one thing.
and he can’t help but snicker to himself at his own discovery. this catches both of your attentions.
“what’s so funny over there?” tsukishima speaks first, mentally thankful that he’s able to use yamaguchi as a subject changer (but don’t tell (y/n) that). feeling both sets of eyes on him, yamaguchi suddenly caves into himself.
“ah– n-nothing. sorry, tsuki!” he squeaks out waving his hands in front of him in defense. clicking your tongue, you send a glare straight to the blonde.
“stop getting so angry at yams! he’s a sweet boy. he doesn’t deserve your scrutiny,” you scrunch your nose in distaste, sticking your tongue out at the taller boy's negative words.
taken back, yamaguchi freezes at your sudden praise. he mumbles out incoherent words, relentlessly shaking.
“look what you did to him. he’s broken, now.”
“huh...? yamaguchi, are you alright?”
“i– the.. w-w-what are... h-h-”
“good going, princess,” tsukishima rolls his eyes, “how are you gonna fix him?”
feeling bold, your eyes lock with tsukishima’s. he doesn’t dare to break eye contact. his pride just not allowing him to do so. accepting his challenge, you lean into his face once again, your hot breath fans his ear, “the same way i plan on fixing you, tsuki~”
he’s quick to react, abruptly standing up in his seat. a loud screech emits from the metal chair dragging on the floor. it catches everyone’s attention and now all eyes are on a flustered tsukishima awkwardly fidgeting with his fingers.
despite his obviously hot cheeks, his face remains stoic. lips pressed into a thin line and brows relaxed. he clears his throat before gracefully taking a seat again. you’re booming laughter is the only thing he hears now.
yamaguchi and you are howling at this point. you’re clutching your stomach, pointing at the tall blonde. and he knows you're enjoying his flustered state but he can’t say anything in return right now because he can still feel the heat in his face.
he knows that if he says something in return he’ll fuck it up. his voice will waver or worse crack like some kind of middle school child. so for now, he lets you enjoy this second victory. he decides that technically it’s a win for him too because now he can listen to your laughter without admitting that was what he wanted the whole time.
Tumblr media
the sun is setting and the sky shines with different hues of orange mix with a deep blue. it’s late in the evening when another day of afternoon practice is completed. tsukishima and yamaguchi walk briskly, the night sky enveloping the world around them. they both live relatively close to each other, so often times they walk to and from school together.
they make small talk, mostly. yamaguchi often drifts off into his own little world going on about certain things that happen throughout the day. the freckled boy usually gets a curt answer unless it deals with something that catches the blonde’s attention.
a good example is the topic of you.
“did you hear that (y/n) might be applying to be our manager?”
yamaguchi takes it as a good sign when his blonde friend turns to him. he can’t help but smile, he officially has caught his best friend’s attention.
“really now?”
the pinch server nods, “yeah, i didn’t think she would apply for any clubs, yanno? mostly because she didn’t want to be associated with the “flightless crows” or something.”
yamaguchi sees tsukishima’s brows furrow, “well it’s not really our business if she didn’t confirm or deny it.”
“oh wait—” yamaguchi turns to his taller friend, his dark eyes wide, “she didn’t tell you?” tsukishima nearly stops in his track. what does he mean ‘she didn’t tell you?’ you’re just as close to him as you are to yamaguchi.
of course, you would tell him about as something as mundane as joining a club, right? because... why wouldn’t you?
deep in his thoughts, yamaguchi’s call breaks his train, “hello? ...tsuki?”
a short hum is his response not completely snapped back into the conversation just yet. he’s still hung up about you not telling him small details like that. do you trust yamaguchi more than him?
the mentioned boy finds himself studying his best friend once again. the blonde has his hand covering his mouth, his eyes are downcast focusing on the way his feet move on the sidewalk. thin brows creased in thought.
yamaguchi sighs, “tsuki, have you ever considered that you might... i don’t know...” the shorter boy stops his words, picking at his nails. it’s a nervous habit that yamaguchi developed at a young age. tsukishima knows this and if it was some other time, he’d scold his friend to just spit the words out.
but he doesn’t. why? he doesn’t exactly know. whatever it is that the pinch server wants to say seems so important that it’s got him choked up so maybe, just maybe, this’ll be worth the wait.
“what is it, yamaguchi?”
with a strong breath in, he speaks, “l-l-like (y/n)?”
and just like that tsukishima kei is sent into a spiral of thoughts. his fist tightens on the strap of his backpack, brows crinkled and eyes focused on the sidewalk in front of him.
does he like you? of course not! is a reasonable answer. he’s known you for what? a few months and even if he sometimes can’t get your soft laughter out of his head and your glowing smile either... that doesn’t necessarily mean he likes you!
he also makes yamaguchi laugh! that’s what friends do, right?
but he doesn’t think about texting yamaguchi late at night just to recommend some music that he knows you’ll fall in love with.
no, he doesn’t think about if yamaguchi will even notice if he were to switch his glasses out for contacts.
no, he doesn’t think of yamaguchi like that despite being his friend... but that doesn’t mean that he likes—
“see ya tomorrow, tsuki!” the blonde looks up and watches his friend depart to his home. how long was he in thoughts for? he doesn’t know but he stays silent not even sparring a mere wave.
when yamaguchi is finally out of sight, he continues his tread home. head down and focused on the loud notes blaring through his headphones. yamaguchi doesn’t deserve a wave goodbye. not now at least, not when he left him with so much to think about.
finally, he is at home. shutting the front door behind him his older brother and mother are in the living room watching some sort of show that tsukishima has no interest in. his family’s cheerful greetings fall on deaf ears and in a matter of seconds, he’s in his room. his lights are off and his door is shut clear signs that he wants to be left alone.
at least, he is able to clearly think about what’s going on without yamaguchi influencing his mind or even you infecting his thoughts.
he lays in bed, artificial darkness enveloping him. his golden eyes are darting across his ceiling, the flat surface feels like it could come alive with how much life his staring is giving it. he’s thinking so much that he can feel the subtle ache of a headache forming.
rubbing at his eyes, they drift to his desk; 2:48 AM.
the glowing red of his desk clock reads. he curses lowly to himself, shifting in his sheets, “this damn girl.” the words are bitter but he knows more than anyone that those words aren’t exactly meant to be negative.
in fact, the only other person that he probably thinks would understand what he means by those words is, well— is you.
it is then, in the comforting silence of his dark room that he shakes his head, turning over and getting comfortable in his dinosaur sheets. he can feel his eyelids getting heavier as the seconds pass, but that doesn’t stop the ghost of a smile that curves on his lips.
on the edge of unconsciousness, he lets out a sigh thinking back to yamaguchi’s claims.
“that you might, i don’t know, l-like (y/n)?”
your soothing giggle echoes in his head while your confident smile doesn’t seem to get out of his mind.
“and so what if i do...”

— Prologue
There are as many reasons to fall in love with Kageyama Tobio as there are fractals made by the ocean’s breath as the world inhales and exhales, flourishes and wilts, conquers and surrenders. It would not even be a hyperbole to say that in number, they remain unrivalled to the plethora of stars that stain the waves with their reflection and run deeper than the scars of lightyears that paint lines from Cassiopeia to Aquila.
After all, he is the darkest hue of navy blue.
Determination that moves in an orchestra of thundering waves, brandishing on its crest an admirable recklessness, heeding not for the need to call upon courage or confidence; polished instinct that endued one with the same awestruck feeling when facing the beautifully suffocating obscurity of their life in this world, a mixture of raw fear and the need to impart a piece of their soul in everything they do despite how fragile the skin shielding their heart is.
But the best part of loving Kageyama was that you were not - or will ever become - destined to be.
Tumblr media
— Shoreline
Red.
It was a word that was always thrown about in conversations, the fuel to the catastrophes that were high school gossip chains, and the colour that held the mangled passion of the string of fate. Garishly predestined and easily tangled by unnecessary complications of jealousy and confusion, it is needless to say that you hated red with more passion than the love it emptily promises with a title as shallow as soulmates.
That was not to say you despised love. There was nothing wrong with love itself, a fact which you had decided firmly since the spry age of four years old. What was wrong was its combination with soulmates: a rigid formula, nothing like the walks with your grandmother on the bright summer roads littered with flowers as her calloused palm gently guided you, or the laughter you shared with your friends after a long run in the rain, hugging each other goodbye at the end of the day despite the muddy battle scars covering your arms and legs from falling countless times.
Your mind could have kept you engaged in your internal debate for longer if you were left to your own devices, but an awkward cough and the sound of a desk shifting towards your right brought you out of your reverie, bringing your drifting thoughts back to the classroom surrounding you.
Perhaps your look of confusion came off as hostile, for the dark-haired boy now sitting next to you looked at you with a slight glare that felt forced, an automatic effort to defend himself.
His tone of voice only confirmed your unconsciously off-putting expression as he gruffly stated, “Group project.” to explain his sudden presence.
“Oh. What’s the topic on?”
An awkward silence had ensued while you tried to calmly collect yourself by gathering a handful of pens from your pencil case after being caught in your heinous crime of not paying attention to your English teacher.
“You don’t know?” Came his reply, causing you to occupy yourself by finding extreme interest in a lime green highlighter you did not have any recollection of ever buying.
“Well, I clearly wasn’t paying attention.”
“You… weren’t?” The slight intonation in his tone was a stark contrast to your initial impression of him and caused you to look up at him, almost letting out an amused snort at his befuddled frown to which he furrowed his brows and shot a challenging “What?” in return. Realizing that he was genuine in believing that you were deep in thought over the lesson, a burst of laughter blossomed past your lips, attracting a few odd looks from your nearby peers and an abashed glare from him.
You paused to take a breath, a repetition of sorries stumbling their way out to appease the onslaught of nagging you thought would follow shortly. Instead, all the boy muttered was a simple, “You’re weird.”
“Sure, but that’s beside the point - were you paying any attention?”
“No.”
Seeing your face contorted to stop yet another bout of laughter to roam its way into the world as a result of his bluntness, he shot out of his seat and announced that he would go ask the teacher, unable to hide his puzzlement as he walked away. He would come to regret this decision when the teacher began to lecture him, earning more heads to turn his way as she scolded him before sending him off dismissively with a sticky note that you assumed had your now long-awaited topic.
Before you could thank him for enduring what could only be one of the worst things to experience as a high school student, he wordlessly handed the piece of paper to you and sat down.
“Kageyama, right? With this project, you’ll have me to thank for the A we’ll get,” you promised confidently, to which he responded with a halfhearted “Good luck.”
If he had been a close friend, you would have taken the small textbook on his desk and gently hit his head at his evident lack of belief in his capabilities, but settled for a clipped sigh instead. After all, you did not want to further contribute to the premature wrinkles Kageyama was making himself prone to with all of the brow-furrowing he did.
This is going to be one long month.
Tumblr media
— Largo
Like how the ocean reluctantly caresses the sleeping shore as it wakes from its slumber during low tide, your lives slowly flowed together.
During the first week of your group project with him, he would greet you curtly, and on a few occasions, you would have short conversations about the outline of your book review.
And this singular week was enough to show that there was some (okay, maybe a lot) of backing behind the teacher’s warning about Kageyama’s dismal grade.
While you flipped through A Midsummer Night’s Dream, you would catch the all-too-familiar confusion on his face - it was written on his features so blatantly that it was almost comical, as if taken straight out of a shonen manga.
“You know if you’re stuck you can ask me for help.”
A slight scowl greeted you over the hedge of pages he had been burying himself in, followed by a biting, “Who said I need help?”
You could only roll your eyes in return.
“Please drop the prideful act. You've been glazing over the same page for about twenty minutes now."
After a few seconds of grumbling did he finally comply, and with your explanations, his bookmark was now comfortably sandwiched between the double-digit page numbers right as the bell rang. You hummed in satisfaction before returning your desk to your original spot, expecting him to rush out along with everyone else - so to turn around and see him still standing there was a bit of a surprise.
“Did you still need help with the last few lines?” You settled on asking, not really wanting to plague your break with work but offering nonetheless. Thankfully, he shot a look of disdain at the play as he stuffed it away haphazardly in his bag.
“No, I just wanted to,” he trailed off a bit, the tinge of red on his ears an out-of-character detail you decided not to comment on, “to say thanks, I guess.”
You smiled softly at the unexpected gesture of appreciation before giving him a teasing nudge which he stiffened slightly at.
“Well, I can’t have you bringing down my mark now can I?”
“Nevermind, I take it back.”
“Too bad, I have those words of gratitude stored nicely in my hippocampus already.”
From there, tutoring sessions with Kageyama became the norm, with you sometimes asking about his volleyball team after he had let slip that you were a better teacher than Tsukishima (something you would be sure to smugly share if you ever met the infamous middle blocker).
By the end of the month, all of the hard work - and a couple of all-nighters due to procrastination - brought forth an A as you had promised.
Even your relentless teasing, varying between “I told you so!” to “You owe me at least three meat buns now” which were all met with an annoyed “Shut up”was not enough to dim the smile he tried to hide.
Tumblr media
— High tide
With the force of nature, the tide rose without warning; from goodnight texts to confessing to the first “I love you” uttered shyly between shameless souls, neither of you was sure where things began, but found comfort in such liberating chaos.
In times where he needed to be held, you were there, and the insecurities you would hide, he would turn beautiful. And today happened to be a day for both as you stared absentmindedly at his bedroom ceiling.
“Hey Tobio, what’s your take on soulmates?”
“We’ve been together for almost a year now, what do you think?” he put his phone down and turned towards you, “I could care less about soulmates or whatever else is worrying you enough to make your overthinking go into overdrive.”
“Rude, have some respect, it’s my profession after all,” you shoved him playfully as he snorted in reply, “It’s just... If your string ever appeared, wouldn't you rather-”
“Listen Y/n, did you know that I’m scared of dying but I’m even more terrified of the thought of living without you? I could never and don’t ever want to replace you. People can talk all they want, if I could find a love like ours without something as stupid as a piece of string then I don’t need a soulmate.”
“Really?”
With a flick to your forehead, he huffed in fake exasperation. “Really.”
“Huh, who knew you could be so romantic.”
“It's not romantic, I'm just being honest, idiot.”
“You sure could make do with some more lessons on manners and social tact. It's too bad you can't pick up on those as well as volleyball drills.”
Before he could retaliate, you enveloped him in a familiar embrace, burrowing your face into the large hoodie he donned.
It was effortless, his company.
Tumblr media
— Ebbing away
But it wasn’t all romantic.
You fiddled with your phone as you waited for any sign that Kageyama had seen your messages, the pack of meat buns you had bought on a whim no longer letting off their fragrant steam. You knew he had an important match coming up against Seijoh, that he had to prove himself, that he lives hungrily and foolishly like no other. But his missing presence went beyond volleyball practice, keeping his distance from you even when he was right by your side.
Why am I stuck reminiscing about the past when we still have each other?
Why does every step I take towards him feel as if I’m only drawing myself farther away from him?
A carousel of rhetorical questions spun around your head as you stopped your slow pace towards Karasuno. You were not blind; you knew the rumours and dirty looks from your classmates were not something anyone could be immune to, that he tried his best to spend less time around you at school. The only conclusion you could reach was that he was ashamed: either of you, or the fact that he had begun to see his red string and could not bring himself to face you.
Ignoring the urge to let yourself cry, you glanced down at your phone once more, 8:30PM flashed across your eyes, followed by your empty notifications. There was no way he’d still be practicing at the school now and even if he was, you doubted he would be happy to see you. Maybe - no, definitely - it would be better to head home, and maybe stop by the convenience store you had bought the now misshapen meat buns from to get some tea and call it a night.
Tumblr media
If only fate did not reciprocate your hatred towards it.
Stepping into the small store, the first person you are greeted with is none other than Kageyama Tobio. The whole situation was like a fever dream, and you would do anything to be able to let out a laugh and have him call you weird all over again. But all you could bring yourself to do was blearily stare at him.
He turned around quickly, as if not wanting to be caught before ushering you outside. “Y/n? Why are you here?” he hissed, a stiffness that he had recently adopted to his body language that you were now all too familiar with.
“What? Am I not allowed to go into any and all convenience stores I please?” You challenged, a part of you waiting for him to care enough to see how tired you were, to actually look you in the eyes for the first time in weeks.
He did not, opting to turn his head towards the door again.
“It’s not that, it’s just-”
“Just what? Tobio, what is up with you lately?” A pause ensued, broken by a small hiccup as your eyes dampened - God, how much more pathetic could you get than crying in front of some dingy convenience store - “Do you even love me anymore?”
How odd. You thought that by finally uttering the final question that had been dancing around your mind free to the world, you would feel better. That he would reassure you, as he always had.
Not that he would at last meet your gaze, grabbing your hand to look at the red string wrapped around your ring finger.
The taste of tears and Kageyama’s eyes as blue as the Atlantic all felt miles away from you as an orange-haired boy stepped out of the store, his mouth dropping into an o-shape when he saw that his string led to you, a disheveled mess arguing with his teammate.
“Kageyama…You knew? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because I didn’t want to face the reality of it all. Because I was afraid of losing you.”
“But I wouldn’t leave you-”
“I know you wouldn’t but you should!” Kageyama’s furrowed brows, once a quirk of his that you were fond of, now elicited a sick turmoil in your stomach, “You have to. Please.”
You wanted to yell at him, let the blood pour out of any and all raw words of anger and hurt.
Who was he to decide what was good for you, to throw you at some boy you never met before, to give up?
Then again, you could never say you would not have done the same for him if you knew he had found his soulmate despite the sweet words he had told you so long ago.
So you let yourself go. For his sake.

To Be Struck
Rating: T Pairings: EnnoTana Characters: Various, focus on Karasuno and Ennoshita.  Universe: Canon Summary: “He has no idea, does he.” Yamaguchi states, having waited with the third years and Tsukishima for the captain to show up only to bare witness to him be accosted by a group of boys. They can’t tell for sure what’s being said only that Ennoshita seems to be surprised, hands up in mock surrender before a relaxed, more apologetic pose takes over, the tell-tale sign of nervousness as he scratches the back of his neck.
“Oh no, theres not a single thought of how handsome he actually is behind those big old brown eyes.” Narita states, earning a grunt of agreement from the other third years and something akin to a laugh from Tsukishima. “The boy is oblivious to how handsome he is.”

---
The shirt fits better than he thought it would, taking the quiet moments before the rest of the team would show up to simply get used to the new found feeling of confidence that he had gained over the school break but also seemed to multiply as soon as he’d donned the number 1 shirt. Would Daichi be proud of his progress? Probably, Sugawara? Definitely, smile tugging at his lips in memory of this morning’s phone call, the former Karasuno setter clearly running late for university but still making time to give Ennoshita a fairly out of breath pep talk about he’s got this.
He offers good mornings to Ukai as their coach yawns past, followed by the team who seem to be either the same level of tired or overly excited to either be back with the team after the long break or the potential new players who would be joining. More had signed up this year than ever before, the team’s success at nationals having attracted more attention than Ennoshita had, truthfully, expected, hating that this would happen during his tenure as captain and not to another.
But then, would he really want to inflict this on anyone else?
“We missed you at lunch today, not avoiding us now that you’re captain, are ya?” Kinoshita teases, Ennoshita laughing at the over dramatics as the tawny haired man launched into an over dramatic spiel, leaning against Narita as he lamented over being left behind on the benches, beckoning Yamaguchi in to join him only to be rejected by the second year. “Our boy gets promoted and now he’s too good for us mere bench warmers.”
“No, no, I had to go see Takeda senpai and sort out club stuff, more so since they’re planning a Miyagi based training camp this year.” Ennoshita laughs out more than speaks, pulling the team fleece on, pushing his locker closed only to pause as everything goes quiet. Staring at the team in mild confusion, they just stare back, a few slacked jaws and even a few rosy cheeks amongst them, turning to Kinoshita and Narita for help only to find them in a similar state.
“What?” He asks the silent room, looking with increasing confusion and anxiety between his teammates, hoping one of them would give in and explain just why everyone had gone quiet only to find nothing to cure his nervous curiosity. “Alright then, I need to talk to coach so I guess I’ll see you in the gym.” Ennoshita adds after a few more moments of silence, sighing and dismissing himself from the locker room.
He’s only somewhat confused and mostly annoyed when the talking almost immediately picks up again after he leaves, the team speaking in hushed whispers over something that would undoubtedly cause trouble for him later.
---
The constant giggling confuses him more than anything, Ennoshita frowning as another group of first years pass him in the corridor, the group breaking into hushed whispers, giggles with one or more cheeks flushed a pale pink. He’d assumed it was in response to one of the others, his fellow third years nothing short of attractive, his thoughts lingering on the teams ace a little too long before sighing and shaking his head.
Tanaka Ryuunosuke was a subject best not dwelled on, least he end up losing himself to a train of thought best not considered. The ace wasn’t interested in him beyond friendship, Tanaka’s romantic interests focused on cute dark-haired girls with striking features, the only part of that list Ennoshita could be associated with was the dark hair.
“Hi, Ennoshita.”
“Umm…hi?” He’s confused, more giggling before the group of third years is gone, Ennoshita’s frown deepening as he headed for the back of the class where everyone was waiting for him, food in various stages of being eaten. They hadn’t waited for him and he’s thankful for it, sliding into the chair between Kinoshita and Tanaka with a groan, sliding further into the seat as hands fumbled with his bag for his lunch, still frowning as he dug in without a word.
“You keep frowning like that and your face’ll stick.” Noya speaks around a mouthful of food, both Narita and Kinoshita grimacing before Narita smacks his arm with a comment to stop being gross. It works for the most part, the libero chewing and swallowing with such vigour the rest of the group is surprised he doesn’t choke. “What’s bothering you, cap?”
Ennoshita pauses, trying to find the words to accurately describe his issue before sighing. “People keep giggling when I walk past them, I have no idea why though.” He replies honestly, oblivious to the looks the others were giving him as he continued his train of thought. “At first I thought it was because I was with one of you guys but they continued even when it was just me.”
The shared look between Kinoshita, Narita and Nishinoya only adds to his ever growing confusion, head turning to the left with hope of getting an answer from Tanaka only to be met with a flushed yet mystified look. Why was he looking at him like that? What was he missing that everyone else was apparently so clearly aware of? Snapping his fingers in front of the others face, Ennoshita bites back a laugh as Tanaka jumps, nearly spilling his drink on himself.
“Wait, why did you think the giggling was down to one of us four?” Narita pipes up after a moment, Ennoshita looking over to him whilst the group focused on the captain once more. Ennoshita shrugs, faking a thoughtful look before grinning lazily, something teasing and mischievous in his tone.
“Because you’re all a bunch of clowns.”
---
The trip to Johzenji is by no means quiet but the din of Nishinoya and Hinata hyping up the nervous first years isn’t enough to break him from his thoughts of the incident a mere thirty minutes ago. A second year, from Yamaguchi’s class if memory serves, had confessed to him. Face flushed, voice stammering and a love letter clutched so tightly in her hands Ennoshita was surprised she hadn’t ripped the letter by accident.
He wasn’t going to return her feelings, he only just recognised her never mind the fact he didn’t know her name, but he didn’t even get a chance to politely reject her before Tanaka had come from seemingly nowhere, taken his wrist and dragged him away with a gruff comment of how they were going to be late. The girl had just seen the look on Tanaka’s fae, looked at the tan hand clamped around his wrist and just profusely apologised saying she’d misunderstood.
What had she misunderstood? There wasn’t anything to misunderstand! Sure, Tanaka had perhaps been a little more gruff than usual but hadn’t his last class of the day been maths? It wasn’t one of his stronger subjects, maybe it had just put the vice-captain into an irritable mood. But doubts had only began to settle in when the other had spent the majority of the ride sat next to Haruka, the team’s new libero, who had made it his life mission to cheer the Ace up.
“Gummy for your thoughts?” Yachi asks, voice a hushed whisper as she offers the bag of gummies to Ennoshita, looking around the seat as she checked to see if the rest of the team had heard her at all. He takes one, mulling over if he would tell her anyway, the team manager hastily shoving the sweets back into her bag as Kageyama stalked past to ask Coach Ukai something.
“This is the part where you tell me what’s troubling you.” Yachi teased when Ennoshita remained silent, Ennoshita laughing before shrugging. He’d grown close to Yachi since she’d joined the team, more so after Daichi announced him as the next captain and they started working together more frequently once the year began. It had earned no short amount of teasing over his ability to talk to girls easily from Kinoshita and the question of if they were dating from one of the overly curious first years.
“It’s nothing, I’m just a little confused about somethings is all.”
“Such as?”
Ennoshita clicks his tongue, elbow against the window frame and jaw resting in his palm, silently wishing the vibrations caused by bad suspension would perhaps shake the thoughts out so he could finally focus on things more important than everyone’s new reactions to him. “People keep paying attention to me and, just now, had a girl confess her feelings for me. Only to apologise when Tanaka grabbed me and dragged me off so we could go, saying she’d misunderstood.”
“I don’t get what there was to misunderstand.” Other than the fact she had feelings for me, he adds silently, a troubled look on his face, accepting another gummy when Yachi offered it to him, the younger blonde seemingly lost in her thoughts as he continued. “He just took my wrist and said we were running late.”
He doesn’t confess as to how he can still feel the ghost of that touch on his wrist, that he humoured the idea that Tanaka was so annoyed about the interaction because he was jealous and not because they were going to be late. That the concept of her misunderstanding was that they were dating any not something else that was more trivial than the idea of them dating.
“Maybe she thought you two were, you know, together.”
He chokes, wheezing and waving off the hand of Narita dangerously close to hitting him in the back, waiting for the middle blocker to sit back down and resume conversation with Kinoshita before turning his attention to Yachi. She looks concerned for the most part, a hint of underlying smugness so reminiscent of Kiyoko when she made an all too correct assumption about something that, for a brief moment, Ennoshita feels like he’s sat with her instead.
“Okay, even if she did think that, it doesn’t explain everything else.”
“No but I’m sure you’ll figure it out, captain.”
---
It takes only five seconds of knowing Terushima Yuuji for Ennoshita to realise the man is tenacious if not a little bit odd, leaning away as the fellow captain leaned in, the feeling of being observed by a predator becoming increasingly more present. Pregame handshakes weren’t supposed to last this long, remembering how even the tense ones between Daichi and Kuroo the year before had never seemed to be endless.
Should he be the one to let go first? The want for the contact to be over already battling against his will to not be seen as weak, the handshake finally coming to an end when one of the coaches, the Johzenji one, shouts for Terushima to stop antagonising him. Was it still antagonising someone if it felt like Terushima was wanting a reaction from him that wasn’t annoyance? Ennoshita didn’t know and wasn’t entirely sure he wanted to find out either.
“I look forward to see you play, Ennoshita.”
Hand finally free, Ennoshita wipes it on his shorts leg with theatrical disdain, snorting in vague amusement at the just as dramatic gasp from behind him as he walked back to his team. What game was he playing at? Why had he pronounced his name like that, too much emphasis on the shi that he’d drawled out for far too long for it to be anything short of annoying.
He hates that his mind goes immediately to how it would be less annoying coming from Tanaka.
The practise match goes better than expected, the boost of adrenaline in his veins from being on the court only seemingly nullified during breaks when Narita and Kinoshita began their lament of being Ennoshita leaving on the benches, managing to drag Yamaguchi into joining in, even if the second year could not keep a straight face throughout the entire thing. They win, by no means a crushing victory but enough to know what needs to be improved upon with the new team dynamic, thinking over ideas he could go over with the Coach when they got back to school when feels the arms slink over his shoulder, smells the marker and feels the hand over his shoulders take hold of his forearm almost too gently.
Strong body spray and an obnoxious shade of yellow. The feel of a sharpie against his skin as it scrawled ink and numbers across his skin, Ennoshita stood like a deer in the head lights at the hum in his ear, the pop of lips as the writing was finally done. “Call me whenever, it would be a shame to not know you better, Chikara.” His arm is released, Terushima leaving without any further contact, Ennoshita only breaking out of his stunned state when someone yells at the Johzenji captain.
What…what just happened?
His state of being is nothing short of catatonic, walking in his bemused stupor to where the rest of the team are waiting, staring at the number signed with a heart scrawled across his skin. Why had he said his name like that?! A low drawl, the rolled and extended a at the end of his name, the fact it had made his face flush rosy like he was a first year. He had no interest in the other captain in both terms of friendship and relationship. So why, why was he reacting like that?
Forgetting to pull down his sleeve has never had such dire consequences, helping Takeda to gather the team and attendance to make sure nobody was left behind, most having the wherewithal to stay quiet at the number scrawled on his arm. All bar Kendo, the would-be wing spiker’s eyes lightning up before practically yelling. “Yo, Captain! Whose number did you get?”
The drive home is too rowdy, Ennoshita wishing Ukai would wake up and bellow at them all to shut up as question after question is fired at him. Whose number is it? Terushima’s. Are you dating? No. Do you like him? Not really. Would you date him if he asked you? No. Does Tanaka become captain if you fall for another captain and die? No, Haruka, but thank you for the concern.
Perhaps it’s the sap in him but Ennoshita finds he doesn’t mind the questions so much anymore, when he notices Tanaka is no longer in a mood but laughing along with the fellow third years as Ennoshita wilts under the sheer number of questions thrown at him about his supposed affair with Terushima.
---
“He has no idea, does he.” Yamaguchi states, having waited with the third years and Tsukishima for the captain to show up only to bare witness to him be accosted by a group of boys.
He’d always been handsome, Tanaka thinks, it just became more obvious over the end of year break, bewildered as to how in the span of a month he had seemed to bloom in confidence and lose the stubborn bit of baby fat that clung to his cheeks and body. It’s bothersome, annoying really, how Ennoshita believed through this metamorphosis that he’s still something not worth looking twice at, Ennoshita haven’t never stated it but it was all too clear from the way he confusedly pointed out how he couldn’t understand why their fellow students seemed to linger on him.
“Also oblivious to Tanaka’s pining.” Nishinoya adds on a little too cheerfully, the libero cackling with laughter as he used Tsukishima as a shield as Tanaka attempted to grab him before running behind Ennoshita as the captain finally joined them with a humoured confused look. “Save me, captain! He’s gone feral.”
“Oh please, Noya, he’s a big puppy at worst.” Ennoshita remarks, giving the vice captain a pat on the head as he passed by, ducking past Narita to get to the gym doors before unlocking them, throwing Yamaguchi the keys so he could unlock the changing rooms with a smile. “Go get changed and help me set up the gym before the actually feral children get here.”
Tanaka is the first one back, finding Ennoshita in the middle of setting up the nets, silently thankful that the rest of the team had shown up just as he was leaving the locker room, giving him a good 5 minutes alone with Ennoshita before they were interrupted by each coach, Yachi or someone from the team announcing their arrival with utter dramatics and a slammed open door. “So, what did they want?” He asks, holding the net steady for Ennoshita as he tied it, somewhat distracted by the look of concentration on the others face. Furrowed brows and a slightly screwed mouth, he’d be ridiculous if he thought, even for a moment, that it was adorable.
“I think he was trying to confess his feelings but it came out sounding like he was asking me to marry him.” Ennoshita mused, checking how secure the knots were before moving to the other side and repeating the process there. “Rejected him, was informed he would win my heart before I graduated and his friends were very enthusiastic about this prospect.” Ennoshita seems strangely fond over this, though as to why Tanaka did not know.
“Do we have a name for your future beloved?”
“Oh, heavens no, never told me it in the time it took him to propose to me and declare he’d win me over.” Ennoshita laughed, Tanaka finding himself unable to not join in, finishing with the first net before starting work on the second one. “I named him mini Ryuu though, he reminded me of you with Kiyoko during the majority of first year.”
He flushes at that, muttering shut up under his breath and earning another laugh, wishing he had the confidence he had with Kiyoko to approach Ennoshita with the same enthusiasm. But they’re different, the same yet different. Kiyoko was an obsession, an undignified act of teenage love that he never bothered to subdue, taking some form of pleasure out of every rejection. He had the same thing with Ennoshita but he kept it close, kept it more subtle, for no other reason than the uncertainty of what would happen when he ultimately got rejected because, for the first time, he sees no weird joy in it.
“Are you planning on growing your hair out?” He ask, tying the last knot, the first few members of the team stumbling into the gym, Kageyama snapping something at Hinata and the first years as the setter is more or less shoved into the gym by the rowdy bunch. Tanaka blinks, reaching up to touch his hair, feeling fluff instead of the usual buzzcut, wondering when the last time he’d asked Saeko to cut it for him even was.
“Nah, I keep forgetting to ask Saeko to cut it for me.” Tanaka shrugs in his response, tugging at his hair gently and contemplating if he should cut it off or not, the thought of Ennoshita’s hand on it earlier halting his train of thought far too quickly for his liking. He knows it’s a crush but it was just a touch, an innocent if not somewhat patronising pat to the head, it shouldn’t have this affect on him. Shouldn’t make him wonder how it would feel if they were running through it instead.
No.
He wasn’t dwelling on the thought of calloused hands weaving through it when he’s had a stressful day, it being ruffled with amused affection whenever he was sulking over something trivial. Of fingers gripping it tight and pulling when he…
NO.
“Sorry, what was that?”
“I said you should keep it longer; it looks good on you.”
He was never cutting his hair again.
---
If Tanaka sits closer to him during the study session, neither of them mention it, Ennoshita leaning in to Tanaka’s side to read over what he’d written and smiling. “You got them all right, Ryuu.” He’s not sure when he switched to using just his first name to refer to him, believing it to be around the time the member of the baseball team more or less vowed to win his heart by years end. It seemed to make sense to do as much, he had referred to the kid as mini Ryuu as opposed to mini Tanaka after all.
“It just makes more sense when you explain it.” Tanaka mumbles, scratching the back of his head bashfully, Ennoshita letting out a hum in response before looking up and at the ace when he feels eyes on him. Oh, how had he not realised how close they were? His lips were so painfully close and if he were a stronger man he’d lean forward and kiss him but, for all the confidence he had gained between the end of his second year and the start of his third, he’s not confident enough to close that gap and find out just how unrequited his crush was.
He’s all too happy to let Tanaka take the lead as he takes the initiative, warm fingers sliding between his perpetually cold ones, eyes flicking down to their linked hands before back up to the ace, swallowing thickly. Maybe he should, maybe, just maybe, it wasn’t as unreachable as he first thought, so close to kissing him when a door slams open.
The distance feels like miles, the lingering warmth on his hand from where Tanaka was holding offering only little comfort when the ace refused to look at him. He wants to ask, wants to ask what it meant, why he’d looked at him like that, if what he was feeling and what he assumed Tanaka was feeling actually aligned and it wasn’t just a fool’s folly to long for something more than friendship.
“Hey, Ryuu! Did you-” Saeko makes her presence known with a shout and the door opening, looking between the pair and going silent. Did she know? He knew Tanaka’s shared everything. Meals, food, lesser secrets about crushes and friendship dramas. Was she aware of whatever was going on between the pair of them? The panic begins to build up in his chest as he continues to overthink the situation only to let out a choked noise as he’s grabbed by the elder Tanaka and pulled to his feet.
It’s a similar situation to Terushima, Ennoshita feeling more and more like he’s being stared down by a predator only it’s welcomed this time, Saeko gripping his chin and observing his face before she turns to look at Ryuunosuke who seems to be on edge more than Ennoshita was. “I know you said he got hot over break but damn, Chika, you’re fuckin gorgeous.”
“Umm…thank you?” He doesn’t take compliments well, he never has, laughing nervously as he’s spun, her hands gripping his shoulders, feeling like he’s being presented to Ryuunosuke as a prize that he had just won. I know you said he got hot over break. What did that mean? Was that a Ennoshita thing or a Tanaka thing? Ennoshita focusing on his teammates face, noticing the familiar look he got whenever he felt Saeko was about to embarrass him.
“You gotta snap him up before someone else does, look at those cheek bones.” He feels the nails of Saeko’s right hand brush against his skin and he shudders despite himself, face still enflamed from the shared moment before and the endless compliments. “That jaw line, those sleepy brown eyes of yours. You are still single, right?”
“I…yeah?”
He chooses to not mention the plethora of confessions he had received the past few months, looking at Ryuu in hopes of a rescue only to find him shooting a look brimming with annoyed daring, baiting Saeko into continuing her commentary. Ennoshita knows the look well, one he’s been on the receiving end of from his own little brother whenever he learnt something he shouldn’t and threatened to hold it over him for the foreseeable future.
Saeko just grins, dangerous, like she is aware of something Ennoshita should be, hands clapping his shoulders, giving them a firm squeeze before she lets go and leaves. He watches he go, a thumbs up thrown in as a goodbye before she closes the door much softer than she had when she opened it. There’s a tension in the room, Ennoshita fumbling with his fingers as the silence leaves him to focus on those words.
I know you said he got hot over break. You’re fucking gorgeous.
You said he got hot. You’re fucking gorgeous.
You’re hot. You’re fucking gorgeous.
He’s ashamed as the voice morphs from Saeko’s to Ryuunosuke’s, the constant repetition of ‘you’re fucking gorgeous’ setting his cheeks aflame and his heart beating faster than a drum. He should leave, shouldn’t he? His confidence having melted away, Ennoshita feeling once again like a first year, unable to find his voice and on the brink of panicking as he over thought every possibility now laid out before him.
“Chikara,” his voice is soft, all to calming to hear, Ennoshita looking down at the other only to be met with a face of mild confusion and concern. “I’m stuck with problem ten.” Settling back down, Ennoshita goes back to helping, hoping for any distraction from the thought of Tanaka finding him attractive and the growing disappointment that he wasn’t brave enough to take Tanaka’s hand is his own again.
---
Its never brought up again but it changes their dynamic, Tanaka meeting him at lunch time, the welcome relief from being bothered by strangers with confessions. The hilarious moment of Tanaka fighting with his miniature self until Ennoshita dragged Tanaka away by the hand, the younger boy by someone Ennoshita guessed to also be on his team. It’s never brought up again but Tanaka doesn’t shake off his hand until its time to eat, despite the teasing looks sent his way by the other third years.
They sit together on the coach to practice matches, Ennoshita almost always waking up with his head on Tanaka’s shoulder, Tanaka’s head leaning against his and hands not quite touching but it always feels a little too intimate for just friends. Its how they end up travelling to the Miyagi summer camp, waking up as they pull onto the Shiratorizawa grounds only to find their fingers linked this time, it making up for the lack of head resting against his.
It’s three days before something snaps. Ennoshita in the middle of talking rotation with coach Ukai, mentioning his own anxiety in suddenly being thrust onto the court during an important match, making a joke at both Tanaka’s and Daichi’s expense as he brings up the Wakutani South match the year before. He excuses himself as he hears the arguing behind him, sighing at the sight of Tanaka and Noya shouting at a group of younger players, Karasuno’s own first years seeming to only encourage their behaviour.
Daichi had made this seem too easy, Yamaguchi was going to despise him for leaving this team in his capable hands when the year was through, Ennoshita feeling a migraine beginning to build as he made his way over. Where was Yahaba or Shirabu? He’d pray for even Futakuchi to show up to offer at least some form of assistance in dealing with the would be fight between their teams.
He more than well aware he’s not as intimidating as Daichi, Kenma having pointed this out when the teams met for a practise match a month prior, Ennoshita having simply laughed in response and returned the favour by pointing out that Kenma didn’t quite carry the same presence that Kuroo did. Any remaining tension between them had dissipated as soon as they had spotted Tanaka and Taketora, both huddled in a corner whispering conspiratorially, matching statements of “idiots” slipping out as sighs.
He’s not as intimidating but he can still command presence, hands clamping down on the shoulders of Tanaka and Nishinoya, squeezing tightly as he smiled a little too softly at the gathering who seemed to slowly sink under the weight of it. “I believe you were all returning to your teams, yes?” His tone leaves no room for argument, at least that’s what he hopes, watching with baited breath as they disperse, waiting until they had gone before finally allowing himself to relax.
“They were-”
“You don’t need to tell me.” Ennoshita sighs, cutting off Noya, already knowing that whatever reason they had to get into the fight was, it didn’t need explaining. He trusted his team enough for that. “Just…Just try not to do it again, please.”
---
It’s late on a Tuesday when everything is finally addressed, thirteen days since the incident in Tanaka’s home and thirteen days since they’ve danced around the subject, Ennoshita looking up when he feels someone sit next to him on the bench, surprised to find Tanaka sat there but not at all finding it unwelcomed. “What brings you out here?” Ennoshita asks, dog earring the page he was on and closing his book, cheek resting against his brought up knees and his hand on offer on the chance the Ace wanted to hold it.
“Was looking for the love of my life.” Tanaka states, voice subdued and its unsettling, too used to the confident and boisterous side of him that bellowed across courts and ripped his shirt off in victory. Tanaka is loud, headstrong, a focal point made flesh, he didn’t do quiet moments often, didn’t let his voice drop so low in volume it could barely be considered a whisper. It’s strange but he loves it all the same, a small selfish part of him wishing he’d be the only one to ever here the other like this.
“Did you find them?” He doesn’t try to hide the hope on his voice, too wrapped up in the idea that he might just be what Tanaka was into, be good enough to be the object of his affections even if just for a brief time. He had gained confidence since becoming the Captain, had grown into himself and learnt to become more assertive but the other was able to reduce him back to the shy mess he had been when he was younger like Tanaka was flames and he was made of matches.
Hands find each other, cold and pale meeting warm and tan, the grip loose enough to be comfortable yet firm enough to know it couldn’t be broken that easily. He would have been happy with that, cheeks flushing pink as a hand gently pried his cheek from his knees, calloused thumb brushing over his cheek before lips meet.
It’s brief but that’s all it needs to be, first kiss pressed to the corner of his lips before the second one captures them, the grip on his hand tightening briefly as they pull apart, Ennoshita admiring the flustered look of Tanaka’s cheeks, knowing full well he was in a similar state if not worse.
In his fantasies, he’d pictured Tanaka making any confession into a big affair, loud and unabashed, proclaiming his love for all of Japan to hear like he had with Kiyoko at any given moment. He’d thoroughly embarrass Ennoshita, grinning proudly without a care in the world. He hadn’t pictured it would be quietly, sat on a bench by the school gardens at Shiratorizawa, a fond smile tugging at his lips as he realises that he wouldn’t have had it any other way.
“Yeah, I think I did.”

[a/n: yes yes yes!! Thank you for requesting anon, I hope you don’t mind but I’m going to make this a multiple part fic...this was a very inspiring prompt 🥺 ugh just look at him :(( I luv this boy so much ❣️I feel like this is cannon Tsukki behavior, he would definitely go too far with teasing the person he likes since he’s so emotionally unavailable sometimes. This actually has an angsty ending but it will get fluffy, I promise. I hope this isn’t too bad...I’m not super cofident with how it came out.  Anyways, here you go! enjoy! -yours truly, bunnyy -`ღ´-]
Being the team manager of a bunch of highly energetic boys was definitely a challenge. Thankfully, you weren’t alone. Having Kiyoko and eventually Yachi by your side. You joined once school had started up seeing that you had used to play volleyball in middle school. A very promising wing spiker that was rumored to do very well, possibly even play in pro teams. That all changed in your last game of the season. You had landed a bad spike that was easily received. Once you had landed back on the court, distracted by your loss, you landed very wrong and injured your knee. You had slowly recovered with painfully long hours of physiotherapy but you had to always wear a brace on your right knee just to keep it stable. You hadn’t played volleyball since. You desperately wanted to but you were afraid to mess up again. So you decided to ease back into the sport by being a team manager. Then, you met him.
Tsukishima Kei.
He was a big, big, big pain in your ass. Especially after Coach Ukai came on board. He had learned of your success as a wing spiker and occasionally as a middle block, and had you help out Tsukishima and Hinata. Hinata was ecstatic, he didn't mind since he used to practice with the ladies from the community center but the same couldn’t be said about Tsukishima.
He scoffed and asked how a shrimp could teach him how to block. You quickly shut him up when you had successfully blocked out one of Asahi’s spikes. That didn’t mean he was compliant. He was far from it. Always putting in the bare minimum and it irked you to no end...but, yes there’s a but, there was times where you could see how happy he was to have gotten a good block. His expression didn’t really show it but it was all in the eyes.
Oh how you could get lost in those pools of gold.
He definitely took notice. He wouldn’t admit it but, he admired you greatly. He knew about what happened in middle school. He saw the limp in your step.He also saw you practicing with Hinata and the third years during lunch or after practice. He hated how inferior he felt around you. Despite being permanently injured, you had a smile on your face. No matter how many times you had to repeat basic instructions for setting up to block, you still believed in him. You smiled when he accomplished something, even if it was something done with minimal effort and you tell him, ‘See, I knew you could do it!’ He hated it, not really, but he did. You were also very attractive. Adorable eyes and smile, a dangerously enticing body, and sharp tongued. He thought it was hot that you could keep up with his wit.
Then it started happening. His heart would beat faster whenever you smiled at him. It would beat wildly when your shoulder brushed against his arm. He would feel fuzzy and warm at your praises. Sugarawa had taken notice to the longing glances you both shared when the other wasn’t looking, the blush that would tint your cheeks when the tall blonde would lean down to tease you. So, of course, he told Asahi and Daichi. The captain just shook his head. Of course he was intrigued but it was none of his business. Asahi felt the same but he was definitely more open to fan-boying over the two first years.
Tsukishima had also realized that he didn’t like when someone flirted with you. Whether it was Tanaka and Noya messing around or what he was scowling at in the current moment.
You were blushing and stuttering because of Nekoma’s captain. Rooster head was wooing you with a copious amount of flirty remarks and compliments. Along with that owl headed loud mouth from Fukurodani. You had caught the eye of many during the summer training camp. Especially when you walked into gym #3 in those spandex shorts and a Karasuno pull over.
“O-Oh!” You had squeaked, “I didn’t think anyone would be here.”
“And why are you here so late, chibi-chan?~” And that’s when it started. He had just come in for his towel and was asked to stay and practice and you walked in before he could answer.
“So? What do you say Tsukishima?” Bokuto turned to the blonde who sighed.
“We just had a whole day of training, why would I want to practice more?” He took off his glasses and cleaned them with his towel.
“That’s a great idea! You could learn a lot from these three, Tsukishima-kun! More than you could from me.” You had clasped your hands together, grinning. Akaashi seemed a bit taken aback that you had even noticed him.
“What do you mean? Are you a coach?” Bokuto had leaned down a bit, his face a bit too close to yours.
“W-well no b-but I help him and Hinata practice their blocking.”
“You help them with blocking?” Kuroo was intrigued, if you were helping them then maybe you were pretty good.
“Not well enough.” Tsukishima scoffed.
“Yeah well maybe you’d learn something if you put in the effort.” You retorted, arms crossed and eye brow quirked.
“Well since you think you’re such hot stuff, why don’t you take my place and practice. I’m heading to bed.” You rolled your eyes at his words and that’s what you did. You explained your situation and you practiced in a 2v2. You and Bokuto vs Kuroo and Akaashi.
After a couple of rounds, you all sat around to cool down.
“So why haven’t you joined the girls team? You’d do really well there.” Akaashi asked as he gulped down some water.
“Well, I-I actually don’t know. I haven’t really thought about it.” You shrugged. You weren’t exactly lying, you hadn’t really thought about it much.
“Liar.” Kuroo chuckled, a knowing smirk on his lips. “It’s because of that Tsukishima jerk, right?”
“What-what’re you talking about?”
“Oh come on! I saw the little looks you give him. How he gets a little flustered when you praise him during a game. I’d say that you have a crush on him.” Your reaction was priceless. Wide eyes, furious pink across your cheeks and mouth opening and closing like a fish.
“Oh ho ho! You have a crush!” Bokuto chuckled loudly. “(Y/n) and Tsukishima sitting in a tree! K.I.S.S.S.I.N.G!”
“Leave the poor girl alone, Bokuto.”Akaashi spoke in a bored tone, smacking the boy upside the head.
“Akaashi!”
And thus started the endless teasing. During day training and the extra training in gym #3. Tsukishima didn’t like it one bit. You were paying less attention to him and more to the two over-zealous captains. He had a grimace all through breakfast when Kuroo called you over to join Nekoma for a change. He watched as you happily chatted with the team, laughing at jokes, blushing at Kuroo’s shameless flirting, even getting Kenma to look away from his phone and have a conversation about Animal Crossing, exchanging info so he could invite you to his island.
He was pissed, and it didnt go unnoticed.
“What’s wrong Tsukki?” Yamaguchi asked as he sat right in front of his scowling friend, playing with the food on his tray.
“(Y/n)! Is that all you’re eating? Here have some more grilled fish!” His scowl grew deeper as he watched Lev place pieces of fish in your bowl of rice, not missing the blush on your face when you stuttered out a thank you.
“Nothing Yamaguchi, I’m fine.” He basically growled as he pushed his seat out, forcefully picking up his tray and throwing out the untouched food, making a point to slam the door open and marching out.
“I wonder what’s gotten into Tsukishima.” Daichi frowned as he took a seat with Suga and Asahi.
“I think I know what.” Suga had a sly look on his face as he gestured over to you and Lev. The both of you conversing excitedly about something. “I think he’s jealous because a certain first-year manager is getting attention from the other teams.” The silver headed setter giggled. A look of realization washing over their features.
That jealous anger had definitely affected his playing. His usually calculated movements were off and he was awfully distracted. They had lost match after match and those punishment dives took a toll on everyone. You had taken it upon yourself to convince the managers that it was a good time to cut up the watermelon that was donated by a parent. They quickly agreed, the thought of a sweet and cool slice of the fruit enticing them as well.
“Alright boys! Break time!” They all had sped over to grab a slice of watermelon from their respective manager.
“Thank you, (y/n)-san.” Daichi smiled. The others following in suit, thanking you and grabbing a slice of the fruit.
“Thanks shrimp.” Tsukishima plucked the last piece from your outstretched hand, his fingers brushing against yours and smirking at the blush he caused. “What’s wrong? Do I make you nervous?” He leaned in closer, so close that if you had moved an hair closer, your noses would have brushed.
“Pfft...as if.” You turned away, leaving him amused as he stalked away
Training had ended on another sour note, chests heaving after another round of of punishment dives. You changed into shorts and a t-shirt again and made your way back to the gym.
“Hey Hey! You ready for more training?” Bokuto jumped excitedly. You guys had been in the middle of another set when Lev came bounding in, followed by Hinata and Kageyama.
You decided to take a break and help Lev with his receiving.
“Lev, you’ve gotta bend your knees lower. Loosen up, you’re too stiff.” You instructed from beside him, lowering yourself as an example.
“That invitation to train with us is still open, you know?” Bokuto’s words made you perk up and turn to the doors, and sure enough, there stood the tall blonde.
“I just came in for my shoes.” A fake smile painted his lips as he scratched the back of his neck with his free hand, meeting your eyes before you quickly turned away.
“WHAT?! You’re turning down training with the captains of powerhouses? No fair!” Hinata whined.
Tsukishima ignored him completely. “What’s wrong (y/n)? Did they finally get annoyed with you?” He scoffed.
“N-no...I’m just taking a break.” You spun the ball in your hands.
“I’m sure. I mean, I bet those short legs of yours must get tired easily.” He snickered. No one really laughed, they were unsure if he was actually insulting you or if he was playing around.
“My legs are perfectly fine. Even if they are short, I definitely jump way higher than you.” You smirked. You had grown accustomed to his teasing and to take his words with a grain of salt. But this time, your words seemed to have hit right in his inferiority complex.
“Then why’d you ever stop playing? You’d be doing us a favor by joining a team so I don’t have to hear your irritating complaints about how much I suck but I guess that’d be hard with a bum knee. I mean, you can barely even walk without limping.” He hadn’t really thought about the word vomit that was leaving his mouth. He was just letting out his anger and jealousy. He didn’t notice that you started crying. He had gone too far. His eyes widened ever so slightly.
“(Y/n)...” Lev asked carefully, placing a hand on your quivering shoulders.
“You know why I complain, Tsukishima?” The fact that your voice was so steady and venomous sent shivers down his spine. “I complain because I care about you! I know you can do better than how you’re doing now. I also know that if you don’t put in more effort, Ukai is taking you out of the starting line up! And I know it’s going to hurt me seeing your potential go to waste because I-I...” The stale silence that followed made everyone uncomfortable. No one knew what to do. Comfort you or reprimand Tsukishima.
They watched as you let the ball drop from your hands and you slumped to the exit. “I’m sorry for causing a scene. I’m going to bed. Goodnight everyone.” Kuroo flinched at how broken you sounded. He couldn’t blame you. The guy you liked had basically just called you annoying and teased you about a major insecurity. They watched as you left the gym, shoulder shaking as more tears made their way down your cheeks.
“Not cool man.” Was all Kuroo had to say as he followed you out. Concern clearly etched on his face.
“Tch...whatever.” He gritted his teeth and walked out before hearing Yamaguchi call for him and charge in his direction.
“(Y/n)...”Kuroo called out to you. You were leaning against the outside of the gym, hand clamped over your mouth. He approached you with open arms, an embrace being exactly what you needed. You slumped against him and buried your face into his chest. “For what it’s worth, I think you’re amazing.” You chuckled weakly.
“Thanks Kuroo...”
Back with Tsukishima, Hinata decided to scold him about how he should be more careful with his words and how he should go apologize. As much as he disliked the orange haired idiot, he agreed that he owed you an apology. So he made his way behind the gym, peering around the corner when he heard Kuroo talking.
“There’s no need to cry. Those ugly tears aren’t fitting for a beautiful girl like you.” He cupped your cheeks and wiped your tears away. Unlike compliments before, there was no playful tone in his voice.
Your heart thumped wildly in your chest. There was no doubt that you had feelings for Tsukishima but having someone as handsome as Kuroo inches from your face was definitely making you feel some type of way. You bit your lip as you looked into his eyes, they were sincere. Then looking down at his lips. His eyes searched yours before he noticed where your gaze was. His own eyes looking at your plush lips before meeting your gaze once more. His thumb ran over your bottom lip and nudged it from its place, stressed between your teeth. You both leaned forward, caught in the moment, lips meeting in the middle. Melding together and moving in sync. Your hands moving around his shoulders and into his hair, his arms pulling you closer into him.
Tsukishima’s heart stopped once your lips met, looking away when neither of you pulled away from each other. His heart hurt. Next to being deceived by his brother, this really hurt him. He thought you had liked him. Was he wrong? Had he gotten his hopes up? He frowned at the confusion and betrayal that filled his body. Walking back to the dorms with a heavy heart and slumped shoulders.
When you and Kuroo had breathlessly pulled away, realization set in.
“This isn’t-I’m sorry, I don’t...I uhmm...”
“Relax. It’s fine. I know you don’t feel anything for me. And after that, I know I don’t either.” He scratched the back of his neck.
“Excuse me! Are you saying I’m a bad kisser?” You gasped in an over exaggerated manner. Hand over your heart.
“Yeah, pretty much. In fact, that’s probably one of the worst kisses I’ve had.”
“Oh ha ha.” You laughed flatly. A slightly awkward silence followed. “We’re good right?” You asked unsure.
“Of course we are, chibi-chan, I know you have goo-goo eyes for that big mouth idiot.”
“Just how confused are you? I like Tsukishima, not Bokuto.”
“Oh my god. Goodbye. I thought you were going to bed. It’s definitely past your bed time.” He ran a hand down his face in playful annoyance. Sighing when you were out of hearing range. “You really are something, chibi-chan.”
Back inside the gym, Hinata was ranting about  his teammate.”I don’t understand how he could be so dense.”
“You’re one to talk.” Kageyama snickered, although it went completely over his head. “But I guess he realized that he was rude and went to apologize.” Kuroo froze.
“He what?”
“He went to apologize.” Hinata repeated.
“When?”
“What’s wrong?” Bokuto cocked an eyebrow at his friends abrupt worry.
“Uhh a few minutes ago, I think. He went right around the corner. Why?”
Kuroo groaned and slapped his forehead. “He probably saw it.”
“Saw what?” Lev asked as he absentmindedly tossed the ball from hand to hand.
“I kissed (y/n).”
“YOU WHAT?!”

First Kiss - Tsukishima, Kageyama, Hinata, Yamaguchi (Karasuno First Year edition!)
Aoba Johsai Edition
It’s a little long, I have zero self control
Can you tell I love Tsukishima  (。◕‿◕。)
Tumblr media
TSUKISHIMA -
Before, you used to spend your days in school with your cousin, Yamaguchi, and his less-than-pleasant-but-ridiculously-good-looking best friend, Tsukishima.
He was a jerk, to put it lightly, but hey, you can be a jerk too.
“Your hair looks like a damn bird’s nest, and your bow’s all crooked. Did anyone even teach you how to be a girl?” “Did anyone teach you not to be such an insufferable asshole?” “Do you even know what ‘insufferable’ means?” “Uh, yeah, it means Tsukishima Kei.”
Yamaguchi regrets ever introducing you two.
Things may have started like that, but it wasn’t long before the biting tone in Tsukishima’s words was replaced by something more playful, each remark followed by a smile. He started walking you to your classes, saving you a seat next to him during lunch, even going so far as to share music with you. (He’ll never show you the playlist he’s made of all the songs you’ve recommended.)
But that was before. Now, you were doing your best not to melt under Tsukishima’s heated gaze, paying no attention to the golden brown eyes that have followed you around for days.
The bell rang to signal the end of class, and you quickly gathered all your things, throwing them haphazardly into your bag, and running out before Tsukishima could get to your desk.
You got to your locker in record time, quickly changing out of your school shoes so you could start your trek home. Usually, you would wait for Yamaguchi and Tsukki to get out of practice but… this was better for you.
“You’re avoiding me.”
You jumped at the voice that was suddenly right behind you, knowing exactly who would be there if you turned around, so you didn’t.
“Don’t you have volleyball practice?” “That’s beside the point.” “Avoiding you? I haven’t been –“ “I’m not a dumbass, so don’t play games with me. You’re avoiding me. Why?”
You gulped, gripping the school bag that hung off your shoulder until your knuckles turned white. You wanted to lie, but there’s no point. Tsukishima was always able to see right through you.
“I heard you tell Tadashi that you liked someone…” “… So?”
You tried to pretend that your heart didn’t just crumple up like a piece of paper. “SO! I didn’t want to ruin your chances; she might get the wrong idea if she sees us together all the time.”
He scoffed. “That is the single most idiotic thing I’ve seriously ever heard. Did you hit your head as a kid?”
You could feel your face turn red, anger beginning to bubble in your throat. You finally turn around to face Tsukishima, ready to give him a snarky comment. “No, YOU’RE the single most idiotic thing –“
The words died on your tongue, muffled by Tsukishima leaning down and pressing his own lips onto yours.
He pulled back, and couldn’t help but smirk at your flushed appearance.
“I was talking about you. Stupid.”
Tumblr media
KAGEYAMA –
You had always found it extremely fun to mess with Kageyama Tobio
The boy was a genius when it came to volleyball; but maybe that’s where his genius ends.
It didn’t escape your attention that he would get flustered every time you smiled at him, or that his friends would tease him whenever you walked by, or that it was him dropping off a juice box and melon bread on your desk every morning with a note that says “have a good day.”
You enjoyed it; the way you could make him short circuit just by giving him a hug, the crimson on his face when he catches your eye from the court, and the deer-in-headlights look he gave you when you confessed your feelings.
You were never one to make the first move, sometimes wondering why you did it for Karasuno’s genius setter, but you’re reminded when you feel the shiver in his body as you slide your hand into his, and you see the sweet look in his eyes when you ask him to walk you to class.
You didn’t mind that you had to initiate most of the affection if it meant you got to see the blush that Kageyama always tried to hide.
Today, you found yourself in the perfect position to mess with him. The two of you were having a movie night, and even though you shared the same blanket, Kageyama was sitting on the other end of the couch like a perfect gentleman.
“Tobio,” you whined, “I want to cuddle.”
You didn’t even give the poor guy a chance to reply before crawling from your side of the couch, and situating yourself on his lap, arms reaching up around him as you buried your face into his neck.
You could feel Kageyama’s entire body stiffen, steam practically beginning to come out of his ears.
Laughter threatened to spill from your lips, so you decided you’ve done enough to the guy, and started to make your way off until you felt two strong arms snake around your waist.
You lifted your head to face Kageyama in surprise, but your breath was caught in your throat when you noticed the look he was giving you.
It was like slow motion – Kageyama’s head lowered and your eyes fluttered close before you felt the velvety soft pressure of his lips against yours.
Omg d-did he just kiss you?!
Now it was your turn to be flustered. The corner of Kageyama’s mouth turned upwards ever so slightly, and his hold around you tightened, causing the pink tint of your cheeks to deepen into crimson.
“Let’s stay like this for a while.”
Tumblr media
HINATA –
Everything. Was. Going. Wrong.
This was not how Hinata imagined your first date together would go!
Do you have any idea how long Hinata has been waiting to ask you out? Ever since he met you at National’s last year, he’s been planning this day.
You were beautiful, funny, and you could teach him (more than) a thing or two about volleyball? *Chef’s Kiss*
When you finally agreed to go on a date with him, he thought he was dreaming. He knew he had to make it the best date ever.
He definitely didn’t go to the bathroom six times the morning of.
There was a summer festival that weekend, and he figured it would be the perfect place to take you on your first date.
Ten minutes in, Hinata had spilled Kakigori all over his Yukata. He had been in the middle of beating himself up about it when you reached over and dabbed at the stain with a napkin, laughing at his clumsiness.
An hour in, Hinata had spent nearly all his money trying to win you a stuffed animal to no avail. (You got it yourself in one try.)
Two hours in, Hinata had accidentally stepped on your obi, ripping the delicate material. He wanted to die right then and there, but you insisted it was old, and you were planning to get a new one anyway.
Just as Hinata thought he would redeem himself by taking you on the Ferris wheel, he found out that he got motion sickness, and you ended up having to rub his back, while he fought the urge to hurl the whole time.
“I’m so sorry,” he apologized once the two of you exited the metal death trap, sitting him on a bench, “I swear I had planned for this day to be much better.”
“What do you mean? I had a great time,” you said, and Hinata gave you a look that clearly said he didn’t believe you. You just laughed. “Hinata, when we first met, you threw up on my shoes. Today was a big improvement.”
He laughed. “Still – I wanted you to have a cooler memory of me.”
“You don’t have to try so hard,” you giggled, “I came here because I like you.”
Just then, the sky lit up with different colors of reds, greens, and blues; dancing together to create a pattern that illuminated your face in a way that made Hinata’s heart race.
You smiled then, sitting beside him on the bench and laying your head on his shoulder. “At least we have these fireworks.”
It was there, on a random bench under the glow of summer time, that you shared your first sweet kiss with Hinata Shoyo.

YAMAGUCHI -
Enter Yamaguchi Tadashi; Captain of Karasuno Volleyball Club, Pinch Server, and all-around good guy.
He’d like to think he was a completely different person now; no longer the shy, timid first year that was stuck on the bench while his classmates shone on the court.
Now, he was in charge, and one needed to have all the confidence in the world if they had to keep his demon classmates in line.
But all that confidence just went down the drain whenever you were around.
“Good morning, Yamaguchi-kun!” “Oh, hey! Hi, yeah, it’s a good morning right? Aha, the homework last night was pretty hard, right? Haha..ha.”
“I watched your game last night, Yamaguchi-kun! You were amazing, I couldn’t take my eyes off you!” “Wha - Ah - Haha, that was nothing, just -  it was, uhm, the team they helped ahaha, I – Thank you?”
“Dude…” Tsukki would say, “What the hell just happened to you?”
Naturally, his friends got sick and tired of seeing him turn into a dumbass around you, so they decided to take matters into their own hands.
Yamaguchi should have known what the boys were up to when they decided they wanted to throw a party after the game. As captain, he probably should have spoken against it, but he was also feeling pretty high from the win, and wanted to let loose.
How they managed to trap him in this closet with you was beyond him. He thinks he heard the words “7 minutes in heaven” but the beers were making everything move too fast, and your proximity was more intoxicating than anything he drank that night.
You looked at him with glossy eyes, and he felt like he was drowning. More than a few minutes passed, neither of you moving. The tension was rising, and Yamaguchi didn’t want to make you feel like you had to do anything you didn’t want to.
“Y/N-san, you don’t have to –“ “Yamaguchi-kun, I like you.”
He froze, mouth hanging open. He watched as your gaze lowered, fiddling with your thumbs as you took a step back, and he instantly missed the closeness.
“I’m sorry, this was stupid. Tsukishima-san told me this would be a good idea, but I can see that I’m making you uncomfortable, I’m just going to –“
You felt Yamagachi’s warm hands on either side of your face, catching you off guard before he pulled you in and locked his lips onto yours. Your hands instantly moved up to wrap around his middle, and you lost yourself in the softness of his movements.
He pulled away, making a mental note to thank his idiot friends when you beamed up at him with a smile that blew him away. “I… I like you, too.”

A Month Later
It has been a month since the music convection. You barely remember the face of your savior. All you could remember was that he has black hair and was wearing a white mask.
I can memorize quotes, names, and useless facts but when it comes to faces, I could never remember them.
“Miss Yukie, can you please tell me the answer," the teacher asked you.
Lazily looking up, you quickly saw the equation. "the answer is y= 3(2x+ 1/4)^2-83/16),” you replied as if it was second nature. Not realizing how quickly you responded, you went back looking at the window. Once the realization hit you, you felt your face starting to heat up as your eyes widen. Looking back to the front of the class, your teacher and classmates all stared at you in shock.
“Ummm, I already learned it from when I was middle school,” you said nervously, hoping no one would question it.
The teacher slowly nodded their head and when back to explaining the problem. Letting out a small sigh you went back looking out of the window.
 That was close...
After admiring the outside world, you looked down at your notebook, noticing that you barely wrote any notes. Letting out a soft sigh, you grabbed your pencil from your desk, looking back up to the board, trying to pay attention to what the teacher was saying.
Soon after, you heard the bell rang, signaling the end of school. Cleaning up your desk, you put your notebook and pencils into your bag. As you did that, Hitoka walked up to your desk. With a surprised look on her face, she said, “How did you know the answer! You weren’t even paying attention! You barely even looked at the problem! You knew it right away! Are you psychic?”
Rolling your eyes at her jokingly, you got up from your desk. Both of you walking out of the door, “I’m not psychic,” you started with a joking smile, “Actually, I’m a witch.”
“I knew it,” you heard her whisper to herself. Laughing softly, thinking it was a joke, you didn’t realize that she was serious about it.
Both of you made your way to the girl's locker room, talking about what happened in class and what might happen during practice. Finally, in the locker room, you put your bag into your locker and then grabbing your track pants, jacket, athletic shoes, and a white shirt. Taking off your shoes and your socks, you heard the door opening, seeing Kiyoko walking in.
“Hi, Kiyoko! Ready for practice?” you heard Hitoka said happily.
Smiling with a teasing tone, you said, “of course she is! She’ll be able to see Tanaka.”
Both you and Hitoka saw the small red blush heating on her cheeks, knowing that she is trying not to make her whole face red. Chuckling at her, both of you thought, “she is so cute!!!”
“I talked to Takeda-Sensei and he and Ukai-San are thinking of working with serves and receives,” Kiyoko said faking a cough in her hands, trying to not seem flustered.
“We don’t have practice tomorrow morning, right?” you questioned as you put on your pants.
“Yes, we only have is evening practice,” Hitoka said, changing into her shirt.
Nodding your head, you started to change into your shirt as well, as you did so you heard Kiyoko questioned you and Hitoka, “how is tutoring Hinata and Kageyama?”
“Kageyama is getting better but still has a little more way to go,” Hitoka said thoughtfully, “hows Hinata with English, (y/n)?”
Looking at both of them, you respond with a happy smile, “he is getting better! He just needs to work on his spelling a bit! He will be fine for the exam!”
Kiyoko nods her head, happy that the two trouble first years are getting better with their studies.“Oh yeah, I almost forgot that you speak fluent English (y/n),” Hotoka said, putting a finger on her chin, thinking deeply, “you used to live in New York right?”
A bashful smile made its way to your lips as you replied, “yeah...” you chuckled shyly, “I used to live in New York for a while.”
Seeing Hitoka eyes light up with stars and Kiyoko eyes filled with curiosity, they both asked: where did you live before? Why move here in Miyagi? How was living in New York? But most of the questions were mostly from Hitoka.
With amusement in your voice, you answered, “I lived in London for a bit and some other places as well. I loved living in New York but I wouldn't say it is my favorite. And I moved here because um...” you hesitated, thinking of an answer that won't reveal too much about yourself, “my parent's job?”
Both eyed you in confusion as to why you question your reasoning. But then shrugging it off, thinking nothing of it.
Wanting to know more, Kiyoko asked, “where do your parents work?”
Trying to think of an occupation, you stuttered out, “um.. y-you know..they w-work as a-an..accountant?”
That seems like a good job. No one ever questions an accountant. Accountants are boring...Well, I think they are boring...
“Yeah! They are accountant!” you said more confidently, hoping they believed it.
You quickly closed your locker, giving them a big smile, trying not to seem nervous. Thankful they nodded their heads, not questioning it and finishing getting dressed.
After you were all dressed, you all started to head towards the gym, but not without getting the towels, filling the water bottles, and getting the practice jerseys. As you three did that, you all talked about anything that came to mind. Finally, walking in the gym, seeing the boys messing around, or already starting to stretch. Before any of you, three could greet them, you heard two boys yell, “Kiyoko! You're here!”
Seeing both Tanaka and Noya jumping towards Kiyoko, you were surprised at how high they could jump.
If only they could jump that high during a game...
Kiyoko quickly moved out of the way, making the two chaotic athletes landing on their face. Kiyoko walked past them as if nothing had happened, Hitoka just walked pasted them with a concerned look on her face, when you went up to them asking if their face was alright. Instead of answering, they got up, holding their hands together, sticking their butt out and swaying it side to side like a tail, with heart eyes, they both said, “I love it when she ignores us.”
Laughing at their enthusiasm, you walked to the bench and helped set up the towels and jerseys. Hearing Ukia walking in, everyone looked at him, waiting for orders. “Today, we are going to practices our serves and receives. Then, we’ll do a little practice match,” he yelled, making sure everyone heard.
Everyone yelled out in excitement, ready to practice. Except for Hinata who, not only yelled out but jumped with his arms and legs out, hitting Kageyama.
Yelling out in pain, Kageyama said “Boke Hinata Boke!”
And with that, the practice started.
Tumblr media
Waking up to the sound of your alarm, you reach your hand over, lazily trying to turn it off. Sitting up, you used one hand to rub your eye, trying to get the sleepness out. Moving to the side of the bed, making your feet touching the floor, you stretched out your arms, letting out a random noise as you did so. As you were getting out of bed, you turned on the lamp that sat on your night table.
Walking into your bathroom, you started doing your morning routine. Once you were done, you walked back to your bed and started making it. Finishing, you grabbed your phone, unlocking it, you saw it was 1:14 am. Thinking out loud, you said, “we don’t have to be at school until 4...So...ummm maybe take a shower?”
Scratching your head, you looked around your room. Your eyes landed on the opening that leads to the bathroom, and right across from it, your walk-in closet. Seeing an empty luggage bag and a duffel, you quickly made your decision, “a warm shower sounds nice.”
After your “quick” shower, you put on a pair of athletic leggings and a random shirt. Looking at your phone, you checked the time, 2:05 am. You eyed your empty luggage. Biting the inside of your cheek, you slowly walked towards your closet. “Might as well start packing,” you said softly.
Finished packing, you doubled checked everything, making sure you have everything. Making sure your morning routine, extra sets of clothes, undergarments are in your suitcase when the small medical stuff for the boys was in the duffel.
Going back to your nightstand, you grabbed your phone, checking the time once again. “Alright!” you cheerfully said, “it only took me 30 minutes to pack. New Record.”
Unplugging your charger from the socket, you hold onto both the charger and your phone in one hand. Instantly walking towards your desk, you grabbed your notebook and pencil bag. Walking back to your closet entrance, you put the notebook and pencil bag carefully into the duffel bag.
Swinging the duffel bag over your shoulder, pulling the suitcase behind you as you head out. Turning off the lights in your room and closing the door behind you, headed towards the front of the house. Putting on your shoes, thinking of anything else you missed. With nothing coming into mind, you grab the keys sitting on the table near the front door. Opening the front door, you looked behind you, feeling the dark and empty the penthouse.
“I’m leaving now,” you said halfheartedly, with a sad smile.
If only there was someone to say, “be safe.”
